Benefits Of Employees And Employees At The Workplace Is...
Harvard Business School Professor Michael Beer stated I think there is an implicit negotiation going
on between what management wants and expects, and what employees want and expect (Lagace,
2003). One aspect of the ongoing negotiation between employers and employees in the workplace is
the utilization of incentive pay plans. Employers utilize incentive pay plans to motivate and change
employee behaviors in order to prioritize behaviors and outcomes that the employer is looking for. Pay
for performance appears to be a common sense solution to motivate employees. It creates a reward
system for employees that is tied to job performance and meeting criteria that the employer values
(Taylor, 2013). While the idea of offering financial incentives to employees appears to be grounded in
business principles and ideas that have existed for a long time, they are not always successful. In order
to for pay for performance incentive tools to live up to their potential in the workplace they must be
crafted to meet the needs of organization as well needs of the employee, the plan must also be
maintained and evaluated on a regular basis. Failure to do so can cause more harm than not utilizing
one. Furthermore, there is a growing body of research pointing to the idea that incentive or rewards
are not the solution for improving employee performance that they were portrayed to be. There are
several different types of incentive plans that can be tied directly to business objectives

Heating Appliances Carry A Disease Transmission Risk
A Thermoplastic device is one of the immobilization devices used to immobilize cancer patients
during radiation therapy treatment, such as head and neck cancers. One way to form a thermoplastic
device is to use one of the heating devices that are specifically designed to fabricate customized
thermoplastic immobilization in the optimal conditions. The patients may be at risk of infection from
heating devices used to produce their masks. In this study, authors assess individual facility practices
where water baths or other heating appliances are used to fabricate thermoplastic immobilization
devices to determine whether heating appliances carry a disease transmission risk. The author s
purpose, approach or methods, hypothesis, and major conclusions. Purpose To determine whether
heating appliances used to fabricate customized thermoplastic immobilization devices carry a disease
transmission risk. Background Current literature provides ample evidence that water baths used in
health care settings are potential reservoirs for microorganisms associated with patient infections.
Such results suggest a similar potential for heating appliances used to fabricate thermoplastic forms.
Methods The authors conducted on site surveys of both equipment and procedures used to produce
immobilization forms in several medical facilities. Each heating appliance was sampled for its
microbial content and the data analyzed for growth trends. Results Twelve heating appliances were
sampled. Five (42%)

Compare And Contrast The Day Of The Dead Vs Halloween
Day of the Dead, Halloween, they re all the same right? Wrong. Although these two holidays are both
in the autumn season, they differentiate in many ways. Day of the Dead is a celebration for the
homecoming of ancestors who have died. In which Halloween is a holiday where people dress up in
costumes and collect candy from complete strangers. Pretty different, trust me I know but to prove it
to you even more, I have 3 reasons why Day of the Dead or Dia Le Los Muertos and Halloween
differentiate; such as, the way they emphasize spirits, colors they use, and the food they eat.
Let s start off with the way each holiday emphasizes spirits. Halloween originated from the Celtic
festival known as Samhain. During this festival, people made bonfires ... Show more content on

Halloween night, kids, and even adults (but not most) go walk around after dark in costumes knocking
on stranger s doors for food. But not any food. Candy. In the medieval times, kids used to knock on
doors and ask for food, money, and ale. Then the food given began a tradition and inherited candy. So
people all ages eat free candy for the whole night. Day of the Dead it s a little different. They feast on
meals, meals in which their ancestors loved, to remember them and keep their presence inside of them.
They eat al pan de muerto (bread of the dead) for the celebration, and usually el mole (spicy chocolate
sauce) because it s a traditional spanish sauce in which a lot of people enjoyed. So as you now know,
Day of the Dead and Halloween differentiate even by the foods they eat.
Day of the Dead, Halloween, they re different right? Yes. They are very different from each other even
though they might have some similarities. There are many more things to compare between the two
holidays, but I just pointed out some of the obvious ones, colors/decorations, food, and the way they

Comparing The Army Profession Of Arms, Its Culture, And Ethic
An Army White Paper: The Army Profession of Arms, Its Culture, and Ethic The overall objective of
the Army Profession of Arms campaign is for Soldiers and leaders to refine their understanding of
what it means to be professionals expert members of the Profession of Arms after nine years of war
and to recommit to a culture of service and the responsibilities and behaviors of our profession as
articulated in the Army Ethic. GEN Martin E. Dempsey, CG, TRADOC The preeminent military task,

duties...some soldiers die and, when they are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the Army s professionalization, there have been ebbs and flows in the degree to which the Army
has manifested the nature and motivations of a profession rather than its other organizational character
of government occupation highly professional in periods of expansion and later phases of war and less
so in periods of contraction after wars, e.g. post WWII into Korea and post Vietnam. Even after the
establishment of an all volunteer force in 1971 and the rebuilding of the Army NCO Corps post
Vietnam, these ebbs and flow have continued. The Army in Desert Shield Desert Storm was highly
professional; the Army after the next decade of build down and the exodus of captains and other
leaders and talent in the late 1990s was arguably much less so. A recent report suggests that the
operating forces of the Army, after nine years of war in the Middle East, exhibit more clearly the traits
and character of a profession, comparatively, to force generating side of the Army. So, as described
above as a producing organization, the Army really has a dual nature that of a government occupation
structured as a hierarchical bureaucracy and that of a vocational, specifically military, profession.
Section 1.1 Where will the balance be? The issue that faces the Army now, and will more so in the
transition period we are entering as we transition from Iraq to Afghanistan,

Horror of War Exposed in Erich Maria Remarque s All Quiet...
Horror of War Exposed in Erich Maria Remarque s All Quiet on the Western Front
Erich Maria Remarque s All Quiet on the Western Front is one of the greatest war novels of all time. It
is a story, not of Germans, but of men, who even though they may have escaped shells, were destroyed
by the war. The entire purpose of this novel is to illustrate the vivid horror and raw nature of war and
to change the popular belief that war has an idealistic and romantic character. The story centers on
Paul Baümer, who enlists in the German army with glowing enthusiasm. In the course of war, though,
he is consumed by it and in the end is weary, broken, burnt out, rootless, and without hope (Remarque
page #).
Through Baümer, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In these dangerous moments, anybody would have gone mad, have deserted their post, or have fallen.
it takes a special kind of soldier a soldier who will not go to pieces at the sight of a mutilated body to
deal with this emotional abuse; it takes a soldier like Baumer.
Baümer has grown accustomed to it. War is the cause of death like influenza and dysentery. The
deaths are merely more frequent, more varied and terrible. He has rid himself of all feelings and
thoughts. His emotions lie buried in the earth along with the soldiers who fell prey to them. His
dullness protects him from going mad at the sight of a slaughtered comrade or butchered friend. He
wants to live at all costs so every expression of his life must serve one purpose and one purpose only,
preservation of existence, and he is absolutely focused on that (page #). The cost of life is the death of
his emotions; his survival depends on it. Every shell that falls, every shot that fires, a soldier must face
the possible certainty of death. To Baumer, death carries hand grenades, a bayonet and a rifle to take
away what he has long protected his life.
Whenever he looks into the eyes of an enemy soldier, he does not see a man, but sees death staring
back at him. He has no choice; the enemy cannot and will not coexist with him. It

Review Of The Classic Game Show A Bit Of Bully
Blog 1 Microgaming brings players a bit of bully Back in the 1990s British TV was dominated not by
reality shows and talent show competitions, but by family friendly game shows instead. The classic
game show may not be as prominent as it once was, but they still deliver fond memories of how TV
used to be. When you think about classic game shows that offered wall to wall fun, Bullseye
immediately springs to mind. The darts based show may not have had all the credentials of a smash hit
upon initial release, but as time passed it would become a national treasure. Given that nostalgia is a
theme of choice in 2015, an online slots version of Bullseye was bound to arrive sooner or later. On

Therefore, social work education differs from other social science disciplines and involves more than
solely an information accumulation process. The Basic Characteristics of Social Work Social work
aims to empower those who are vulnerable and living under oppression and/or poverty, to increase
social welfare by taking human needs as the basis, and to meet the needs of all people (Haynes 1998:
501). The
comprehensive focus of the discipline is one of the difficulties, which has direct impact on social work
education and educators. This difficulty stems from the fact that the discipline of social work aims to
intervene in any problem at any level which appears or is likely to appear in the social structure.
Indeed, those working in the field of social work are expected to possess the information and skills
necessary for the discipline to achieve these objectives. Social work is defined also as an art besides
being defined as an academic discipline and a profession. It is, therefore, very important that social
work education is designed to cover all these scores. So how can the qualities that a social worker
must possess be defined? Johnson (1995: 41) provides an answer to this question. Johnson defines
social work as a creative mixture of knowledge, values and skills; therefore, only having one part of
this mix is not sufficient to perform social work. Johnson (1995: 57) argues that integrating the
knowledge, values and skills required in

Similarities Between Grendel And Beowulf
The Better Protagonist
If you have ever read the book Grendel, which is a playoff of the book Beowulf, you know the author
depicts the protagonist as a good character. The author, John Gardner, uses many techniques in his
writing to make Grendel sound like a good protagonist. He made a good argument for its protagonist
by describing other characters as evil, giving an idea of character s backstory to help guide your
opinions towards certain characters, and giving Grendel many of the traits of the nine noble virtues.
Throughout the book John Gardner describes the characters in his book Grendel to make them sound
worse than they did in the book Beowulf. An example of this is when Grendel is being killed by
Beowulf at the end of the book. He

The Golden Age of Sports The 1920s was a great decade for the economy because of the popularity in
sports. The number of fans increased, which created the need for new stadiums and raised the salary
for sports stars. Sports in the 1920s went through many changes in the time period known as the
Roaring Twenties. New heroes, new teams, and new leagues were emerging in sports. Some sports
were just starting, some were broadening their horizons, while others were just becoming more
popular. The media helped to make sports become more popular in the 1920s. Movie houses showed
videos of sports contests, which helped create stars. Newspapers and magazines gave the sports
reporter a new authority as the media brought information about athletes and athletics to large
audiences. Radio broadcasts of college football and professional baseball began early in the 1920s.
The media supplied news but also manufactured it and, in the process, created and satisfied an eager
audience. The decade was the Golden Age of Sports . The 1920s were a starting foundation for
football. The most popular league, the NFL, was formed in the 1920s. On August 20, 1920, the owner
of four Ohio league teams met to form a new professional league. On September 17, the team met
again, changing its name to APFA (American Professional Football Association). By 1923, the name
was changed to the National Football League (NFL). The 20 s brought in new styles of plays, such

Lines Composed A Few Miles Above Tintern Abbey Essay
In quot;Lines Composed A Few Miles Above Tintern Abbey quot;, Wordsworth uses imagination to
help him and others to live in the physical world peacefully. He recalls playing in Tintern Abbey, a
forest nearby there and played in it when he was young. Now he comes back for different reasons. He
escapes the world which is individualism and goes to the forest to get away from all the burden. He
tells his young sister that she can always come here to get away from her problems as well. In the
poem, Wordsworth uses nature to solve problems in life.
The Tintern Abbey has mysterious powers that only those in touch with nature can see. Wordsworth
illustrates such powers by writing, quot; These beauteous forms/Through a long absence, have not ...

bonds with the universal cycle of life and love. Following the execution of the Albatross, the Mariner s

and he has detached from his natural cycle. The Mariner proclaims his misery when he says,

Paradigm Shift And The Evolving Corrections Environment...

Abstract
This paper will try to explain how our correctional facilities use to be and what they are today.
In today s order, our correctional facilities are nothing like they were a long time ago. Foremost, the
federal, state and local governments have a monopoly over our criminal justice systems and
incarceration. This includes defining crimes, apprehending and prosecuting criminals, and then
deciding what to do with the convicts. During imprisonment, government control is downright.
Despite variation in the means, methods, goals and dreams of the many prison reform organizations,
most of them out of necessity have a big government focus. (John Dewar Gleissner, 2012)
Still, the shift must eventually be away from heavy government and towards decentralization, local
control, individual initiative, competition and evidence based punishments in public. Why? Because
that is what worked in the yesteryear. American and world history provides fully documented
successful evidence based practices, not with studies or social science, but in the more critical world
of practical application over the centuries. (John Dewar Gleissner, 2012)
A punishment used to be carried out at the local level, but over time, it became centralized.

Pros And Cons Of A Wok
The quick frying action needed for a tasty, nicely flavored and simple stir fry can be gotten from using
a wok. If you don t know what a wok pan is, a wok is a pan with a hemispherical shape that allows for
easy distribution of heat. A wok helps to preserve the taste of food and it essentially needs only very
little oil is needed.
Woks are quite beautiful pieces and have a lot of history as they are regarded as a pillar of Chinese
kitchens. Apart from the fact that Woks perform exceptionally well for boiling liquids, poaching,
braizing tough cuts of meat, smoking food, and deep frying fried foods, one of its major hallmarks is
that it usually has a totally hot cooking surface. This is important for quick frying and inducing flavor

impressive 7 quart capacity make it one of the best electric woks on the market.
Pros:
Base and handles stay cool all the time
Temperature control is top notch
Sturdy and stable design
Cons:
Its base is not detachable
Maintaining your wok
It s always advisable to wash your wok with hot water and a sponge after use. Don t worry if the wok
is a bit oily after washing as this prevents it from rusting and even helps to season it. Make sure to
never use scouring powder to wash your wok. Whenever you notice your wok starts getting sticky,
cracked and beat about four eggs in the wok. The fat in the egg is a natural lubricant so make sure to
Twirl the beaten eggs and allow it to cover as much of the surface of the wok as possible.

Juxtaposition Song We Re Going To Be Friends
I choose the song We re Going to Be Friends , By The White Stripes for my juxtaposition song. The
topic I have chosen is bullying. We re Going to be Friends , is about a child that is getting ready to go
back to school. The song tells about how he is getting all of his school supplies ready and thinking of
someone named Suzy Lee that may or may not be there. Walk with me, Suzy Lee Through the park

him. Many bullies tease those who talk to imaginary people. Walk with me, Suzy Lee. Through the

Minorities In Qualitative Research
The process in finding one s identity can be difficult, especially as there are many factors that may
alter an individual s actions or thoughts about themselves. After deconstructing several articles by
academic researchers it was evident that the process of one s self identification stems mostly from the
way in which we communicate and interact with other cultures (also known as interculturalities). Each

correlated with the results found in the other articles. The researched used different methodologies in

The most common debate between a minority group and a majority group are the ideas around
religion and it is Elyakim Kislev (2012) who argued that, [there are] challenges faced by religious
groups in a society with a non religious majority. Throughout both McGraw Hill Higher Education s
work (2004) and Elyakim Kislev s (2012) research, the idea of a four step model was introduced.
However, majorities and minorities do not share the exact same steps, which can cause different
outlooks to arise. Minorities emerge with the four strategies/methods which include; integration, also
known as participation in the majority culture while still holding on to their own, separation or
rejection of the majority culture and only accepting their own, assimilation or the rejection of their
own culture and acceptance of the majority culture and finally marginalization, which focuses on the
rejection of both the majority culture and their own. The majority on the other hand show the same
integration step (but participating or interacting with the minority group) and then are followed by
acceptance, resistance and then redefinition and reintegration (McGraw Hill, 2004). Kislev (2012)
argues that the most ideal model or step would be, solely based on the acceptance of both cultures.
Kislev s (2012) study also examined that the ability to, [take] from both cultures [would] be enough to
increase the emotional well being and educational achievements of minorities. By acknowledging how
different people between the two classes (minority and majority) accept both their culture and other
cultures, it gives insight into how they may shape their identities and ultimately, how they may treat

In this study, polymer of [AgL]n was immobilized onto the surface of a glassy carbon electrode
(GCE), which leads to the efficient electrocatalytic oxidation of Dibucaine and Naphazoline. The GCE
was previously tested in PBS buffer (pH = 3) before polymer were drop coated on it. It presented no
redox process in the potential range applied. The working electrode coated with polymer of [AgL]n
was immersed in the electrolyte solution for 20 min prior to the measurement to ensure the diffusion
of the solution to the interlayer space and permit better ionic exchange. The cyclic voltammograms
were recorded for Dibucaine and Naphazoline at modified electrode and are shown in Fig.4. As it can
be seen, at the surface of the modified electrode, oxidations of Dibucaine and Naphazoline are
irreversible processes. These results indicate that the electron transfer rate is quite slow. Such slow
electron transfer kinetics is due to the electrode fouling caused by the evidence of Dibucaine and
Naphazoline and their oxidation products.

Analysis Of Oryx And Crake By Margaret Atwood
Ethics is differentiating between good and evil, between the right and wrong human actions, and
between righteous and unrighteous characteristics of individuals. Having said that, ethics plays a
significant role in Margaret Atwood s novel, Oryx and Crake. The world in which Oryx and Crake are
presented differs from our own. The lifestyle throughout the novel demonstrates the value and
importance of ethics in one s life and how it can effortlessly lead to a tragedy. In the novel, Margaret
Atwood focuses on the excess of the lack of moral responsibility and freedom showing that as much
as science can help a person, it can also destroy them if we do not have ethical limits and society s
satisfaction. In addition, Atwood illustrates the final disaster when the novel s antagonist, Crake, uses
both his scientific intellect shared with his ethical depravity to attempt extinguishing and then
recreating, the entire human race. Meanwhile, on the other hand, the story s protagonist,
Jimmy/Snowman, gradually reveals a world of segregation and isolation for those who possess either
artistic compassion or appreciation. Nonetheless, solidarity with other human beings is the first step to
the development of ethics.
It is not explicitly mentioned, however, one can conclude that companies are frequently the number
one control and power in the world. Evidence of this is presented throughout the book. Jimmy spends
his life living in corporate compounds, like many other characters, both Jimmy

Saya In The Twister Resisters By Elizabeth Campbell
A character named Saya who is part of an organization called W.A.V.E. has to defeat all the enemies
that come their way in the Twister Resisters by Elizabeth Campbell. In the beginning of the story,
Saya believes that she doesn t need help when defeating enemies. She has the superpower to run fast,
so on page 11 it reads, Kai said, Saya, wait! But I wasn t about to slow down for a chunk of granite
(Campbell 11). This shows that Saya wants to show that she could defeat the enemy without the help
of the other members. Kai had tried to stop Saya, but she wouldn t want to listen to him. Looking at
this evidence, one can say the Saya is the type of person who wants to be independent and wants to be
a bit of a show off to the other members.

Smoking Cessation in New Zealand
TITLE: SMOKING CESSATION IN NEW ZEALAND
RATIONALE AND AIM
The aim of my proposal is to give valuable information about smoking and smoking cessation in a
presentation that could be helpful to teenagers and pregnant women who want to quit smoking. The
presentation will use simple pictures and language to make it easy for everybody to learn about the
harmful impact of smoking on health. Along with this, there are three key goals of tobacco control
exercises: To lessen the use of smoking, to discontinue smoking, diminishing introduction to a second
hand smoker. In this presentation I will discuss different strategies that are identified to stop smoking,
for example, strategies to stop routine use of smoking in New Zealand, the viability of these strategies,
health related dangers of smoking, the benefits of stopping smoking.
I have chosen this subject because of the fact that it will give helpful information might be to those
individuals who need to stop smoking such as teenagers and pregnant ladies who have a higher risk
from health related issues, moreover passive smokers will additionally get benefit from these methods
and can enable themselves to keep smoke free.
BENEFITS: The main benefit is to the public, such as pregnant women and teenagers, and future
generations. It will help people to improve their financial situation if they quit smoking. Additionally,
it will helpful to pregnant mothers who are not aware about the health related risks and the severity of
that

Minor Characters In Macbeth Essay
Macbeth is a play written by William Shakespeare, the play s genre is a tragedy. The play is about
Macbeth who kills the King of Scotland (Duncan) so he can become king himself. It is the minor
characters in Macbeth who attract our interest, this is shown in the three paragraphs below in which
Banquo, Duncan and Malcolm are classed as minor characters and how they attract our interest.
Banquo s role throughout the play is to be dramatic which then provides an effective foil for Macbeth.
The temptations of the witches were shown to be avoided by Banquo resulting Macbeth to act
somewhat normal. Equal in status to Macbeth as a commander, and similarly ambitious Banquo
expresses unshakeable moral principles and an ability to tell right from wrong. He warns Macbeth the
witches may be instruments of darkness and not be trusted. When Macbeth hints that they might plot
together, Banquo states firmly he will keep his allegiance clear . After Duncan s body is discovered, he
publicly declares: in the great hand of God I stand and resolves to fight against ... Show more content

Duncan is shown as a character who is noble, wise and loyal. He is honourable and isn t detained by
the likes of corruption. Macbeth quotes that Duncan hath been so clear in his great office, his virtues

trusting. He realised this when he made an error with the unfaithful Thane of Cawdor: he was a
gentleman on whom I built an absolute trust . The next line is Enter Macbeth which is ironic in what
happens later in the play. This is the scene in which Macbeth s attitude changes completely. He is now
full of anger and has turned evil which result in a deadly murder. But Duncan s flaw would cost him

The Revelation Of Jesus Christ
There is always someone who choose to deny the revelation of Jesus Christ. In this investigation, it
will be looked at how Jesus proved himself to the naysayers of his time. This will be accomplished by
looking at several different factors that include topics of was Jesus mentally ill when he claimed to be
God? How did Jesus prove that he was not only talking the talk but he was also walking the walk?
This was done the evidence of the actions he performed. Finally, an evaluation will be done to prove
that when an individual has a revelation of Jesus they are also seeing the image of God.
There could be several explanations to how Jesus considered himself to be God. According to the
article beyond blind faith, Another possibility is that Jesus was sincere but self deceived. We have a
name for a person today who thinks he is God. Mentally disabled. But as we look at the life of Christ,
we see no evidence of the abnormality and imbalance we find in a mentally ill person. Rather, we find
the greatest composure under pressure (Little, 1988).
There was no evidence of Christ being unstable in any way. To the contrary, he was an image of
stability and steadfastness. From one point of view, however, claims don t mean much. Talk is cheap.
Anyone can make claims. There have been others who have claimed to be God. I could claim to be
God, and you could claim to be God, but the question all of us must answer is, What credentials do we
bring to substantiate our claim? In my

The Importance Of Instant Gratification
Instant gratification plaguing the U.S workplace?
Since the late 20th century the temptation to fulfill Instant gratification has become more prevalent in
society which has put America in a precarious predicament. In Robert Paul s novel The Impulse
Society: America in the Age of Instant Gratification he claims America has found itself in an era
where we desire extensive indulgence which has made us culturally narcissistic , blinding us from the
value of investment and inducing a high risk lifestyle. This currently has managed to raise concerns
regarding the problems that serve as a detriment to the labor force. with instant gratification even
shaping a newer generation of workers, Millennials who were born in an age where they are used to
technology and social media giving them immediate feedback and results in almost every aspect of
their life. with one notable problem being that decisions influenced by instant gratification seem to be
leading to higher rates of unemployment seen with machines threatening to replace laborers (Derek
Thompson). Former president Nixon goes into claim how work ethic is what allows us to be a
industrial nation and is what allowed us to change from a poor nation to a powerful one over the
course of two centuries (Address to the Nation on Labor Day,1). with this claim, it is pivotal to see the
that contemporary times have encouraged instant gratification which has spread egocentrism in the
workforce. This has resulted in the

The Impact Of Tourism On The Tourism Industry Worldwide
Responsible tourism/travel is about making better places for people to live in and better places for
people to visit. It also means that you travel lightly, with a small carbon footprint, respecting people
and places, while making a positive contribution where possible. Ecotourism is one of the fastest
growing sectors of the tourism industry worldwide. It has spawned voluntourism, wildlife tourism and
geotourism (tourism to areas of geological interest.) There s also a growing interest in sustainable
tourism , whereby tourism businesses that aren t essentially nature based. Including hotels and airlines,
are finding ways to operate more sustainably.
Responsible tourism requires that operations, hoteliers, governments, local people and tourists take
responsibility, take action to make tourism more sustainable. The modern version of volutourism
started in the 1960s with the Peace Corps. From its inception, the Peace Corps philosophy was that
volunteers could and should serve their country by living and working in developing countries,
providing aid, and assisting in the peace process by interacting with local cultures.
Since Voluntourism has evolved into volunteer travel and volunteer vacations for the leisure travel
market. For the meetings, incentive, convention, and event (MICE) industry, it has become a
mechanism for expanding social responsibility, delivering purpose filled teambuilding activities for
attendees, and providing spouses with a much needed alternative to

How To Write An Epilogue To Antigone
George It was too late. The Great Danes had surrounded me. My heart was filled with misery. I had
been striving for this my whole life! I sighed, Come on, this is just great. The enchanted beef femur

States. Too much was at stake. I hurtled over one canine, slid under one, just ran past one (she was

teensy tiny poodles came out. About thirty of the little guys were circling around my legs. One even

The Importance Of Sovereignty In Canada
How is the arctic important to Canada and what does this entail? The north contains multiple
resources that are only continuing to grow with the melting of the northwest passage. With this
opening can this be used as an economic adventure in Canada, like the Suez Canal. Or, does the
opening of the passage turn this into a dispute of sovereignty between states? Canadians are known
around the world for being polite, apologetic and of course they re known as, We The North. Canada
has the second largest land mass in the world, at almost ten million kilometers squared, where three
and a half million kilometers, are that of the north(1). There is a wide variety of resources that any of
the other states would like to be a part of. Ranging from forestry, to fishery, natural water, and mining.

For that, what must be done by Canada to keep their sovereignty over their land, and not have other
states intrude and take the north as their own. If sovereignty is up for grabs, it needs to be discussed,
what is sovereignty, and how does a state have complete sovereignty over itself. Sovereignty is
defined as the supremacy of authority exercised by a state over its population and its territory. (4)
However, this can be done in many ways, and Canada is dealing with this in three different teirs
within the north. Canada will continue to have the north inhabited and have employment for those
living there. Secondly, it will endorse the north as a tourist area, for those of other countries to visit
and enjoy the natural beauties that are held there. Lastly, it will deploy its military in multiple ways.
The military will be used to hold operations within the northern territories, employ rangers
throughout, conduct fly past using the Air Force, and maintain bases at its most northern point on a
continual basis.

Flawed Performance Appraisals
The performance appraisals process is flawed in many ways. Lack of preparation, time, training, and
professionalism are a few examples of how the system is flawed. The individual completing the
application often has many tasks that supersedes taking the appropriate time necessary to accurately
keep notations of an employee s performance throughout the year. The lack of time leads to an
employee receiving a performance review on the most recent accounts of his or her job performance
instead of his or her performance throughout the entire year. Lack of professionalism can also hurt the
appraisal process. An employee should be rated by his or her job duties instead of the personal opinion
or feelings the manager or supervisor completing the form. All ... Show more content on

The job description for each position is different and so should the evaluation process and questioner.
Each department in an organization needs to have guidelines set forth outlining the duites,
expectations, training model, and professional code and consistency among employees are critical to
the professional appraisal evaluation process. Each employee must be held to the same accountability
or the evaluation process becomes tainted by lack of consistency. Management should always focus on
the appraisal process as another of their job duties instead of over thinking the task and rating an
employee out of fear and retaliation or to prevent an employee from receiving a raise or promotion. In
addition, the for the appraisal process to be beneficial to the company the outcome has to be to protect
the company from liability or litigation from a disgruntled employee and to boost the companies
overall productivity ratings. When an employee believes he or she has a hand in creating the plan to

Energy Crises in Pakistan
Energy crises is one of the major issues in our country pakistan. According to a survey 8% of the total
revenue generated by a telecom company is lost due to outage of power supplied to BTS. Although the
BTS has back up systems installed which are uninterrupted power supply and generator. When the
main power supply of the BTS fails, it shifts to UPS, if the failure presists for longer time the BTS
shifts to generator. With all the equipments installed to avoid power failure the BTS power outage is
very high. When the BTS power dies out that particular cell is out of the global communication
network. In urban areas this phase is for a short period of time but in rural far off areas this problem is
for long time unless someone comes to fix it. On observing, the power outage occurs due to lack of
power monitoring systems. The system demands for a continuous monitoring of the power of the BTS
so that when any one of the source dies out the service providers should fix it as soon as possible. In
urban areas the revneue generated is very high and a particular company can afford alot of man power
to monitor the BTS continuously but in rural areas the revenue generated is low and continuous
monitoring by man power isnt possile all of the time. This project BTS power monitoring and alarm
system based on GSM module is an attempt to minimize the issues permanently with least man power
for monitoring the BTS. This system collects the signals from the power sources, step down the

Andrew Marvell s To His Coy Mistress Essay
Andrew Marvell s To His Coy Mistress
Andrew Marvell writes an elaborate poem that not only speaks to his coy mistress but also to the
reader. He suggests to his coy mistress that time is inevitably ticking and that he (the speaker) wishes
for her to act upon his wish and have a sexual relationship. Marvell simultaneously suggest to the
reader that he/she must act upon their desires, to hesitate no longer and ³seize the moment?before time
expires. Marvell uses a dramatic sense of imagery and exaggeration in order to relay his message to
the reader and to his coy mistress. The very first two lines of the poem suggest that it would be fine

The speaker in this poem seems frustrated; he delicately tries to inform his coy mistress that their
death is near, and they still have not had sexual intercourse. In lines 17 33 the poem seems to lose the
exaggeration sense and suddenly becomes serious. He (the speaker) reinsures his coy mistress that
³you deserve this state?(state of praise and high acknowledgment), ³But at my back I always hear,
Time¹s winged chariot hurrying near? Andrew Marvell uses and interesting image in line 22 (the line
mentioned above) when suggesting to his coy mistress that death is near. He substitutes the word
³death?for a more gentle, delicate term of ³Time¹s winged chariot? This term was probably used to
prevent from frightening such a coy mistress. Marvell continues to involve the reader¹s imagination
through unimaginable images. What do ³Deserts of vast eternity?look like? In fact, Marvell probably
used such abstract images to suggest to his coy mistress that their future is indeterminable, and ³Thy
beauty shall no more be found? Perhaps, beauty is what the coy mistress is so concerned with and the
speaker in this case is trying to frighten her to have sex with him quicker. He continues to use intense
imagery when describing to his coy mistress that even after death the ³worms shall try That long

Analysis Of The Song Of Achilles
Madeline Miller s The Song of Achilles re tells the classic tale of The Iliad through the romantic
relationship highly speculated between Achilles and Patroclus. In a diachronic approach to historical
queer narratives, I will analyze queer identities and representation within literature with an emphasis
on contemporary queer narratives. Queer narratives are especially important stories to perpetuate and
recognize both historically and contemporarily, as they impose, perpetuate, or upset notions of
normalcy. The Song of Achilles solidifies historical queer identities and experiences that have
otherwise been absent, overlooked, or erased in the Iliad (and other historical texts). Accurate queer
representation is important for understanding the historical past, giving voice, visibility, and validation
to queer identities, and recreating identity in the present. Because language is relative/arbitrary, queer
has various meanings, depending on evolution and history and also personal attributions. Queer has
been used as an adjective to mean strange, questionable, or to not feel right, a pejorative against queer
individuals, an identity relating to a person who does not conform to a normative sexual orientation or
gender identity, a sexual orientation, and as a gender identity (such as genderqueer). However, there is
an overlooked use of the word: queer is also a verb. What does it mean to queer something? There was

Persuasive Speech For Your Address In Our School
Superintendent Crouse, Loveland Administration, and Loveland School Board Members, just last year
you vied for us to obtain our own tennis courts, which I use every week. As a result of this, I hold very
high regards and respect for you, and the fact that you care for all your students, and want to do all
you can to improve our school lives. For this, I know you are welcome to new ideas, and I hope to be
able to share mine without giving you the wrong impression, as I have no intent to offend you in any
way. My focus as of this moment is to change the course scheduling for classes, so that we could have
different weeks for different subjects, but still maintain a four block day. The idea came to me from
my French class, on account of the fact that the French actually do this at their schools.
In further details, it would mean that for two weeks we, the student population, would have half of our
classes, as long as there are no complications which I will explain later. The next two weeks, however,
we will have the other half of our classes, excluding special cases, again. As I know, there are some
flaws, as there are in every good idea. One such problem we could, no would run into, would have to
be if a student were to take 2 classes that have to be taken in a consecutive order. To solve this
problem, all that would have to be done is a bit of extra tampering with their scheduling, which would
happen regardless of the new changes for some. Said student would just have to revert back to block
scheduling, and switch classes half way through the year as we do now. In result, the student would
get the classes they want, and the new schedule for their remaining classes. Another problem that
some may argue could arise is the fact of tests, quizzes, homework, or finals, because we can t all have
time turners. Taking two weeks off could potentially affect some grades, but if you think about it, units
really only take about two weeks to explain and finish their complementary tests, and homework
wouldn t overlap unless it were some long term project. The reason these flaws would be worth the
extra time and effort to get through would be the extra focus students would gain. I find that I do

The Birth Of A Baby With Genetic Defects
Science has evolved rapidly, from paternal test, to vitro fertilization (IVF) and testing embryos for

the creation of more of these babies. This law was created since the British Medical Association, Dr
Vivienne Nathanson, said that these babies would feel as medical products . This law still remains
today, but the UK has allowed the creation of babies with DNA from two women and one man

Why is this? Why is it alright to wish for our child to look a certain way, but when presented with the
technology to choice how a child will look like, it is seen as morally wrong? Improvement or

modifications are not acceptable.
To understand what a designer baby is, genetics also has to be understood. Generics is the study of
heredity, discovered by Gregor Mendel (also known as the father of genetics) and his pea plants
experiment. In Mendel s experiment he described the unit of heredity as a particle that does not
change and is passed on to offsprings (Mandal). This means that a living being gets half of their genes
from one parent and the other half from the second parent. These genes are what get modified in
designer babies. The term designer babies is the media s name for eugenics. Eugenicists believe that it
is in our society s best interest to encourage families with good genes to reproduce, and to condemn
the unfit families. These genetically modified children are considered as the new eugenics ; today s
version is positive : it allows for the creation of more desirable babies (Tuhus Dubrow, 40), also the
original version deprived people of their rights and liberties.
The process used to modify genes is called CRISPR/Cas9. It was discovered in china in 2013; before

The Apology And Interpretation Of The Trial Of Socrates
The Apology is Plato s account and interpretation of the trial of Socrates (399 BC). When the Thirty
Tyrants were ruling Athens, Socrates was asked by them to help capture Leon of Salamis, a wealthy
man. This arrest was to be made simply because Leon was a just Democrat and the Tyrants wanted to
take his huge estate for themselves. Socrates disobeyed these orders hence why he was later executed
as a traitor of Athens. Meletus was the man who then brought Socrates before a jury for prosecution.
Socrates pleaded innocent in his trial. Similarly, several arguments are used to support the idea that he
was innocent and should not have been executed. In his argument for his innocence, Socrates poses

He made people think he was smarter than everyone else, and that he would always argue better than
they could. Moreover, he always aimed at embarrassing people with tough arguments rather than
trying to educate or correct them. In this specific argument with Euthyphro, he tries to understand the
meaning of holiness, although his state of mind is to show his companion that he always wins in
arguments. To begin with, Socrates asks for the meaning of holiness. Euthyphro responds by stating
that holiness is what he is doing; prosecuting the wrongdoer even if it is his own father. However,
Socrates is not satisfied with this answer and pins down the argument by adding that there are more
holy things and that it is an example not a definition.
Socrates way of arguing with people always led to heated debates, and most people usually walked
away from him. He was always a nuisance when it came to explaining matters involving doing things
the way that they were done. Just as he argued with Euthyphro, he did the same with the Tyrants. They
had issued a command that he should help in the arrest Leon, the Democrat. It was highly likely that
Socrates would oppose this move as he was always against what people did as long as he was not
satisfied. He found no reason to go after Leon and did not trouble himself with answering to the

illegal, many people went to speakeasies to drink alcohol. The government could not effectively
control the drug and alcohol use in the 1920 s, but it did have control over education. With the
government s ability to control education, it gained importance and attention in the 1920 s.

In 1897, there was an average of 256 students in a private institution and 415 students in a public
institution (Goldin et. al. 45). In comparison, the average amount of students in 1924 in a private
institution increased to 755 students per institution and 2165 students per public institution (Goldin et.
al. 45). Both private and public institutions benefited from the increase of higher education students.
Public institutions in 1924 had five times the amount of students they had in 1897. Ten years later,
private institutions had an average of 859 students, and public institutions had an average of 2790
students (Goldin et. al. 45). This shows that the dramatic increase that occurred from 1897 to 1924

Resilient Rowers of the 1936 Olympics
In an age when Americans enjoy dozens of cable sports channels, when professional athletes often
command salaries in the tens of millions of dollars...it s hard to fully appreciate how important the
rising prominence of the University of Washington s crew was to the people of Seattle in 1935 (Brown
173). As seen by this quote, America is a much different place than what it was in the 1930s. The
times have changed significantly. In today s day and age we have it all too good. The world we live in
is one of leisure and not nearly as much hard work as there used to be. Back in the early 20th century
the people had it pretty rough and dealt with many frightening problems of their generation such as ...

Over five thousand banks closed and huge numbers of businesses, unable to get money, closed too.
Those that continued laid off employees and cut the wages of those who remained, again and again.
Industrial production fell by 50 percent, and by 1933 perhaps 15 million...were out of work (Zinn).
This description by Howard Zinn really paints a picture of the turmoil that was occurring in the US
during the depression. The depression caused people to be afraid of the future because of all the
uncertainty that came with it. This was especially true for Joe Rantz. Joe came from an extremely poor
family and had been hit hard by the depression. He knew that if he wanted to rise above the depression
and the sad life he lived, he would have to make the cut for the University of Washington crew team.
Joe knew all too well that failing at this rowing business would mean, at best, returning to a small,
bleak town on the Olympic Peninsula with nothing ahead of him but the prospect of living alone in a
cold, empty, half‐built house (Brown 13). It was this that motivated Joe and it was this that pushed
him to succeed. The Great Depression sparked the fear of an uncertain future into Joe, which is
demonstrated by Brown in the quote, Whether you were a banker or a baker, a homemaker or
homeless, it was with you night and day‐‐‐a terrible, unrelenting uncertainty about the future, a feeling
that the ground could drop out from under you for good at

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Analysis
The Myers Briggs type indicator is a personality test used to make the psychological types described
by C.G. Jung more understandable and relevant to people s lives. The personality test shows that
random deviations in behavior are essentially not so random at all, but how people use their perception
and judgment. There are sixteen, distinctive personality types, that can result from the choices of
preferences. (Foundation, The Myers Briggs) According to theory, by definition, one pole of each of
the four preferences is preferred over the other pole for each of the sixteen MBTI types. The
preferences on each index are independent of preferences for the other three indices so that the four
indices yield sixteen possible combinations called ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Kwame Nkrumah s Impact On The Contribution Of The...
Throughout human history, there have been multiples leaders that have sought to implement change
and bring prosperity to their people and definitely, Kwame Nkrumah is one of them. Indeed, Nkrumah
is one of the leading figures in the fight against colonialism not only in Ghana, his country, but also in
the continent of Africa itself, and across the world. He sought to challenge the colonial powers and
their system of global capitalism by implementing the socialist route once he achieved the
independence of Ghana from the British Empire in 1957. Although, Nkrumah was not successful in
his plan and after nine years as President of Ghana, he was removed from power, he still played a
major role on the development of the Pan Africanism movement and its huge impact in different parts
of the world. To recall, Pan Africanism is the principle of the political union of all indigenous
inhabitants of Africa. In other words, this movement encouraged the African people all over the globe
to unite as one and fight for their independence and rights to not be colonized and exploited anymore.
From his early years of life, Nkrumah experienced first hand the exploitation and suffering of the
African people. While he was attending the Lincoln University and later, University of Pennsylvania,
he had the opportunity to get involved in political organizations that would help his African brothers
not only in the United States, but also back in Africa. For this reason, he joined a group of African

  • 2. Benefits Of Employees And Employees At The Workplace Is... Harvard Business School Professor Michael Beer stated I think there is an implicit negotiation going on between what management wants and expects, and what employees want and expect (Lagace, 2003). One aspect of the ongoing negotiation between employers and employees in the workplace is the utilization of incentive pay plans. Employers utilize incentive pay plans to motivate and change employee behaviors in order to prioritize behaviors and outcomes that the employer is looking for. Pay for performance appears to be a common sense solution to motivate employees. It creates a reward system for employees that is tied to job performance and meeting criteria that the employer values (Taylor, 2013). While the idea of offering financial incentives to employees appears to be grounded in business principles and ideas that have existed for a long time, they are not always successful. In order to for pay for performance incentive tools to live up to their potential in the workplace they must be crafted to meet the needs of organization as well needs of the employee, the plan must also be maintained and evaluated on a regular basis. Failure to do so can cause more harm than not utilizing one. Furthermore, there is a growing body of research pointing to the idea that incentive or rewards are not the solution for improving employee performance that they were portrayed to be. There are several different types of incentive plans that can be tied directly to business objectives ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Heating Appliances Carry A Disease Transmission Risk A Thermoplastic device is one of the immobilization devices used to immobilize cancer patients during radiation therapy treatment, such as head and neck cancers. One way to form a thermoplastic device is to use one of the heating devices that are specifically designed to fabricate customized thermoplastic immobilization in the optimal conditions. The patients may be at risk of infection from heating devices used to produce their masks. In this study, authors assess individual facility practices where water baths or other heating appliances are used to fabricate thermoplastic immobilization devices to determine whether heating appliances carry a disease transmission risk. The author s purpose, approach or methods, hypothesis, and major conclusions. Purpose To determine whether heating appliances used to fabricate customized thermoplastic immobilization devices carry a disease transmission risk. Background Current literature provides ample evidence that water baths used in health care settings are potential reservoirs for microorganisms associated with patient infections. Such results suggest a similar potential for heating appliances used to fabricate thermoplastic forms. Methods The authors conducted on site surveys of both equipment and procedures used to produce immobilization forms in several medical facilities. Each heating appliance was sampled for its microbial content and the data analyzed for growth trends. Results Twelve heating appliances were sampled. Five (42%) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Compare And Contrast The Day Of The Dead Vs Halloween Day of the Dead, Halloween, they re all the same right? Wrong. Although these two holidays are both in the autumn season, they differentiate in many ways. Day of the Dead is a celebration for the homecoming of ancestors who have died. In which Halloween is a holiday where people dress up in costumes and collect candy from complete strangers. Pretty different, trust me I know but to prove it to you even more, I have 3 reasons why Day of the Dead or Dia Le Los Muertos and Halloween differentiate; such as, the way they emphasize spirits, colors they use, and the food they eat. Let s start off with the way each holiday emphasizes spirits. Halloween originated from the Celtic festival known as Samhain. During this festival, people made bonfires ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Halloween night, kids, and even adults (but not most) go walk around after dark in costumes knocking on stranger s doors for food. But not any food. Candy. In the medieval times, kids used to knock on doors and ask for food, money, and ale. Then the food given began a tradition and inherited candy. So people all ages eat free candy for the whole night. Day of the Dead it s a little different. They feast on meals, meals in which their ancestors loved, to remember them and keep their presence inside of them. They eat al pan de muerto (bread of the dead) for the celebration, and usually el mole (spicy chocolate sauce) because it s a traditional spanish sauce in which a lot of people enjoyed. So as you now know, Day of the Dead and Halloween differentiate even by the foods they eat. Day of the Dead, Halloween, they re different right? Yes. They are very different from each other even though they might have some similarities. There are many more things to compare between the two holidays, but I just pointed out some of the obvious ones, colors/decorations, food, and the way they emphasize ... Comparing The Army Profession Of Arms, Its Culture, And Ethic An Army White Paper: The Army Profession of Arms, Its Culture, and Ethic The overall objective of the Army Profession of Arms campaign is for Soldiers and leaders to refine their understanding of what it means to be professionals expert members of the Profession of Arms after nine years of war and to recommit to a culture of service and the responsibilities and behaviors of our profession as articulated in the Army Ethic. GEN Martin E. Dempsey, CG, TRADOC The preeminent military task, and what separates [the military profession] from all other occupations, is that soldiers are routinely prepared to kill...in addition to killing and preparing to kill, the soldier has two other principal duties...some soldiers die and, when they are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since the Army s professionalization, there have been ebbs and flows in the degree to which the Army has manifested the nature and motivations of a profession rather than its other organizational character of government occupation highly professional in periods of expansion and later phases of war and less so in periods of contraction after wars, e.g. post WWII into Korea and post Vietnam. Even after the establishment of an all volunteer force in 1971 and the rebuilding of the Army NCO Corps post Vietnam, these ebbs and flow have continued. The Army in Desert Shield Desert Storm was highly professional; the Army after the next decade of build down and the exodus of captains and other leaders and talent in the late 1990s was arguably much less so. A recent report suggests that the operating forces of the Army, after nine years of war in the Middle East, exhibit more clearly the traits and character of a profession, comparatively, to force generating side of the Army. So, as described above as a producing organization, the Army really has a dual nature that of a government occupation structured as a hierarchical bureaucracy and that of a vocational, specifically military, profession. Horror of War Exposed in Erich Maria Remarque s All Quiet on the Western Front Erich Maria Remarque s All Quiet on the Western Front is one of the greatest war novels of all time. It is a story, not of Germans, but of men, who even though they may have escaped shells, were destroyed by the war. The entire purpose of this novel is to illustrate the vivid horror and raw nature of war and to change the popular belief that war has an idealistic and romantic character. The story centers on Paul Baümer, who enlists in the German army with glowing enthusiasm. In the course of war, though, he is consumed by it and in the end is weary, broken, burnt out, rootless, and without hope (Remarque page #). Through Baümer, ... In these dangerous moments, anybody would have gone mad, have deserted their post, or have fallen. it takes a special kind of soldier a soldier who will not go to pieces at the sight of a mutilated body to deal with this emotional abuse; it takes a soldier like Baumer. Baümer has grown accustomed to it. War is the cause of death like influenza and dysentery. The deaths are merely more frequent, more varied and terrible. He has rid himself of all feelings and thoughts. His emotions lie buried in the earth along with the soldiers who fell prey to them. His dullness protects him from going mad at the sight of a slaughtered comrade or butchered friend. He wants to live at all costs so every expression of his life must serve one purpose and one purpose only, preservation of existence, and he is absolutely focused on that (page #). The cost of life is the death of his emotions; his survival depends on it. Every shell that falls, every shot that fires, a soldier must face the possible certainty of death. To Baumer, death carries hand grenades, a bayonet and a rifle to take away what he has long protected his life. Whenever he looks into the eyes of an enemy soldier, he does not see a man, but sees death staring back at him. He has no choice; the enemy cannot and will not coexist with him. It ... Review Of The Classic Game Show A Bit Of Bully Blog 1 Microgaming brings players a bit of bully Back in the 1990s British TV was dominated not by reality shows and talent show competitions, but by family friendly game shows instead. The classic game show may not be as prominent as it once was, but they still deliver fond memories of how TV used to be. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, social work education differs from other social science disciplines and involves more than solely an information accumulation process. The Basic Characteristics of Social Work Social work aims to empower those who are vulnerable and living under oppression and/or poverty, to increase social welfare by taking human needs as the basis, and to meet the needs of all people (Haynes 1998: 501). The comprehensive focus of the discipline is one of the difficulties, which has direct impact on social work education and educators. This difficulty stems from the fact that the discipline of social work aims to intervene in any problem at any level which appears or is likely to appear in the social structure. Indeed, those working in the field of social work are expected to possess the information and skills necessary for the discipline to achieve these objectives. Social work is defined also as an art besides being defined as an academic discipline and a profession. It is, therefore, very important that social work education is designed to cover all these scores. So how can the qualities that a social worker must possess be defined? Johnson (1995: 41) provides an answer to this question. Johnson defines social work as a creative mixture of knowledge, values and skills; therefore, only having one part of this mix is not sufficient to perform social work. Johnson (1995: 57) argues that integrating the knowledge, values and skills required in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sports in the 1920s went through many changes in the time period known as the Roaring Twenties. New heroes, new teams, and new leagues were emerging in sports. Some sports were just starting, some were broadening their horizons, while others were just becoming more popular. The media helped to make sports become more popular in the 1920s. Movie houses showed videos of sports contests, which helped create stars. Newspapers and magazines gave the sports reporter a new authority as the media brought information about athletes and athletics to large audiences. Marcia Outten Robinson JUS 601 Q5344 Correctional Policy/Practice 15TW5 1 2 Short Paper: Paradigm Shift and the Evolving Corrections Environment Assignment Rewrite 4 Southern New Hampshire University Professor Michael Murphy July 11, 2015 Abstract This paper will try to explain how our correctional facilities use to be and what they are today. In today s order, our correctional facilities are nothing like they were a long time ago. Foremost, the federal, state and local governments have a monopoly over our criminal justice systems and incarceration. This includes defining crimes, apprehending and prosecuting criminals, and then deciding what to do with the convicts. During imprisonment, government control is downright. Despite variation in the means, methods, goals and dreams of the many prison reform organizations, most of them out of necessity have a big government focus. (John Dewar Gleissner, 2012) Still, the shift must eventually be away from heavy government and towards decentralization, local control, individual initiative, competition and evidence based punishments in public. Why? Because that is what worked in the yesteryear. American and world history provides fully documented successful evidence based practices, not with studies or social science, but in the more critical world of practical application over the centuries. (John Dewar Gleissner, 2012) A punishment used to be carried out at the local level, but over time, it became centralized. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Throughout both McGraw Hill Higher Education s work (2004) and Elyakim Kislev s (2012) research, the idea of a four step model was introduced. However, majorities and minorities do not share the exact same steps, which can cause different outlooks to arise. Minorities emerge with the four strategies/methods which include; integration, also known as participation in the majority culture while still holding on to their own, separation or rejection of the majority culture and only accepting their own, assimilation or the rejection of their own culture and acceptance of the majority culture and finally marginalization, which focuses on the rejection of both the majority culture and their own. The majority on the other hand show the same integration step (but participating or interacting with the minority group) and then are followed by acceptance, resistance and then redefinition and reintegration (McGraw Hill, 2004). With this opening can this be used as an economic adventure in Canada, like the Suez Canal. Or, does the opening of the passage turn this into a dispute of sovereignty between states? Canadians are known around the world for being polite, apologetic and of course they re known as, We The North. Canada has the second largest land mass in the world, at almost ten million kilometers squared, where three and a half million kilometers, are that of the north(1). If sovereignty is up for grabs, it needs to be discussed, what is sovereignty, and how does a state have complete sovereignty over itself. Sovereignty is defined as the supremacy of authority exercised by a state over its population and its territory. (4) However, this can be done in many ways, and Canada is dealing with this in three different teirs within the north. Canada will continue to have the north inhabited and have employment for those living there. Secondly, it will endorse the north as a tourist area, for those of other countries to visit and enjoy the natural beauties that are held there. Lastly, it will deploy its military in multiple ways. The military will be used to hold operations within the northern territories, employ rangers throughout, conduct fly past using the Air Force, and maintain bases at its most northern point on a continual basis. ... Lack of preparation, time, training, and professionalism are a few examples of how the system is flawed. The individual completing the application often has many tasks that supersedes taking the appropriate time necessary to accurately keep notations of an employee s performance throughout the year. The lack of time leads to an employee receiving a performance review on the most recent accounts of his or her job performance instead of his or her performance throughout the entire year. Lack of professionalism can also hurt the appraisal process. Management should always focus on the appraisal process as another of their job duties instead of over thinking the task and rating an employee out of fear and retaliation or to prevent an employee from receiving a raise or promotion. In addition, the for the appraisal process to be beneficial to the company the outcome has to be to protect the company from liability or litigation from a disgruntled employee and to boost the companies overall productivity ratings. According to a survey 8% of the total revenue generated by a telecom company is lost due to outage of power supplied to BTS. Although the BTS has back up systems installed which are uninterrupted power supply and generator. When the main power supply of the BTS fails, it shifts to UPS, if the failure presists for longer time the BTS shifts to generator. With all the equipments installed to avoid power failure the BTS power outage is very high. When the BTS power dies out that particular cell is out of the global communication network. In urban areas this phase is for a short period of time but in rural far off areas this problem is for long time unless someone comes to fix it. On observing, the power outage occurs due to lack of power monitoring systems. The system demands for a continuous monitoring of the power of the BTS so that when any one of the source dies out the service providers should fix it as soon as possible. In urban areas the revneue generated is very high and a particular company can afford alot of man power to monitor the BTS continuously but in rural areas the revenue generated is low and continuous monitoring by man power isnt possile all of the time. He suggests to his coy mistress that time is inevitably ticking and that he (the speaker) wishes for her to act upon his wish and have a sexual relationship. Marvell simultaneously suggest to the reader that he/she must act upon their desires, to hesitate no longer and ³seize the moment?before time expires. He (the speaker) reinsures his coy mistress that ³you deserve this state?(state of praise and high acknowledgment), ³But at my back I always hear, Time¹s winged chariot hurrying near? Andrew Marvell uses and interesting image in line 22 (the line mentioned above) when suggesting to his coy mistress that death is near. He substitutes the word ³death?for a more gentle, delicate term of ³Time¹s winged chariot? This term was probably used to prevent from frightening such a coy mistress. Marvell continues to involve the reader¹s imagination through unimaginable images. What do ³Deserts of vast eternity?look like? In fact, Marvell probably used such abstract images to suggest to his coy mistress that their future is indeterminable, and ³Thy beauty shall no more be found? Perhaps, beauty is what the coy mistress is so concerned with and the speaker in this case is trying to frighten her to have sex with him quicker. • 37. Analysis Of The Song Of Achilles Madeline Miller s The Song of Achilles re tells the classic tale of The Iliad through the romantic relationship highly speculated between Achilles and Patroclus. In a diachronic approach to historical queer narratives, I will analyze queer identities and representation within literature with an emphasis on contemporary queer narratives. Queer narratives are especially important stories to perpetuate and recognize both historically and contemporarily, as they impose, perpetuate, or upset notions of normalcy. The Song of Achilles solidifies historical queer identities and experiences that have otherwise been absent, overlooked, or erased in the Iliad (and other historical texts). Accurate queer representation is important for understanding the historical past, giving voice, visibility, and validation to queer identities, and recreating identity in the present. Because language is relative/arbitrary, queer has various meanings, depending on evolution and history and also personal attributions. Queer has been used as an adjective to mean strange, questionable, or to not feel right, a pejorative against queer individuals, an identity relating to a person who does not conform to a normative sexual orientation or gender identity, a sexual orientation, and as a gender identity (such as genderqueer). However, there is an overlooked use of the word: queer is also a verb. What does it mean to queer something? There was a time when that phrase meant to mess it up, as in queering a ... • 38. Persuasive Speech For Your Address In Our School Superintendent Crouse, Loveland Administration, and Loveland School Board Members, just last year you vied for us to obtain our own tennis courts, which I use every week. As a result of this, I hold very high regards and respect for you, and the fact that you care for all your students, and want to do all you can to improve our school lives. For this, I know you are welcome to new ideas, and I hope to be able to share mine without giving you the wrong impression, as I have no intent to offend you in any way. My focus as of this moment is to change the course scheduling for classes, so that we could have different weeks for different subjects, but still maintain a four block day. The idea came to me from my French class, on account of the fact that the French actually do this at their schools. In further details, it would mean that for two weeks we, the student population, would have half of our classes, as long as there are no complications which I will explain later. The next two weeks, however, we will have the other half of our classes, excluding special cases, again. As I know, there are some flaws, as there are in every good idea. One such problem we could, no would run into, would have to be if a student were to take 2 classes that have to be taken in a consecutive order. To solve this problem, all that would have to be done is a bit of extra tampering with their scheduling, which would happen regardless of the new changes for some. Said student would just have to revert back to block scheduling, and switch classes half way through the year as we do now. In result, the student would get the classes they want, and the new schedule for their remaining classes. Another problem that some may argue could arise is the fact of tests, quizzes, homework, or finals, because we can t all have time turners. Taking two weeks off could potentially affect some grades, but if you think about it, units really only take about two weeks to explain and finish their complementary tests, and homework wouldn t overlap unless it were some long term project. The reason these flaws would be worth the extra time and effort to get through would be the extra focus students would gain. I find that I do better at the beginning of the ... This law was created since the British Medical Association, Dr Vivienne Nathanson, said that these babies would feel as medical products . Why is it alright to wish for our child to look a certain way, but when presented with the technology to choice how a child will look like, it is seen as morally wrong? Improvement or enhancements made for health related issues are seen as acceptable but non health related modifications are not acceptable. To understand what a designer baby is, genetics also has to be understood. Generics is the study of heredity, discovered by Gregor Mendel (also known as the father of genetics) and his pea plants experiment. In Mendel s experiment he described the unit of heredity as a particle that does not change and is passed on to offsprings (Mandal). This means that a living being gets half of their genes from one parent and the other half from the second parent. These genes are what get modified in designer babies. The term designer babies is the media s name for eugenics. Eugenicists believe that it is in our society s best interest to encourage families with good genes to reproduce, and to condemn the unfit families. These genetically modified children are considered as the new eugenics ; today s version is positive : it allows for the creation of more desirable babies (Tuhus Dubrow, 40), also the original version deprived people of their rights and liberties. Socrates disobeyed these orders hence why he was later executed as a traitor of Athens. Meletus was the man who then brought Socrates before a jury for prosecution. He made people think he was smarter than everyone else, and that he would always argue better than they could. Moreover, he always aimed at embarrassing people with tough arguments rather than trying to educate or correct them. In this specific argument with Euthyphro, he tries to understand the meaning of holiness, although his state of mind is to show his companion that he always wins in arguments. To begin with, Socrates asks for the meaning of holiness. Euthyphro responds by stating that holiness is what he is doing; prosecuting the wrongdoer even if it is his own father. However, Socrates is not satisfied with this answer and pins down the argument by adding that there are more holy things and that it is an example not a definition. Socrates way of arguing with people always led to heated debates, and most people usually walked away from him. He was always a nuisance when it came to explaining matters involving doing things the way that they were done. Just as he argued with Euthyphro, he did the same with the Tyrants. They had issued a command that he should help in the arrest Leon, the Democrat. It was highly likely that Socrates would oppose this move as he was always against what people did as long as he was not satisfied. This description by Howard Zinn really paints a picture of the turmoil that was occurring in the US during the depression. The depression caused people to be afraid of the future because of all the uncertainty that came with it. This was especially true for Joe Rantz. Joe came from an extremely poor family and had been hit hard by the depression. He knew that if he wanted to rise above the depression and the sad life he lived, he would have to make the cut for the University of Washington crew team. It was this that motivated Joe and it was this that pushed him to succeed. The Great Depression sparked the fear of an uncertain future into Joe, which is demonstrated by Brown in the quote, Whether you were a banker or a baker, a homemaker or homeless, it was with you night and day‐‐‐a terrible, unrelenting uncertainty about the future, a feeling that the ground could drop out from under you for good at ... Throughout human history, there have been multiples leaders that have sought to implement change and bring prosperity to their people and definitely, Kwame Nkrumah is one of them. Indeed, Nkrumah is one of the leading figures in the fight against colonialism not only in Ghana, his country, but also in the continent of Africa itself, and across the world. He sought to challenge the colonial powers and their system of global capitalism by implementing the socialist route once he achieved the independence of Ghana from the British Empire in 1957. Although, Nkrumah was not successful in his plan and after nine years as President of Ghana, he was removed from power, he still played a major role on the development of the Pan Africanism movement and its huge impact in different parts of the world. To recall, Pan Africanism is the principle of the political union of all indigenous inhabitants of Africa. In other words, this movement encouraged the African people all over the globe to unite as one and fight for their independence and rights to not be colonized and exploited anymore.
