On Friday September 22nd, I traveled downtown to King Street to attend the evening show of North
by Northwest, directed by Simon Phillips, at the Royal Alexandra Theatre. As I approached the
theatre, it stood out amongst the busyness of Toronto streets due to a large, vibrant red poster that
immediately caught the eye allowing for no mistake to be made about where the show was located.

the afterlife looks. The poem, Writing in the Afterlife is about the narrator/speaker talking about their
perception of what heaven looks like to them. Then the poem goes into more precise detail as to the

After reading the classic Anglo Saxon tale, Beowulf, readers find themselves engrossed in the
character of Grendel. This interest led to John Gardner s creation of Grendel, a novel that tells Grendel

Stanley Yelnats is the main character in the book Holes, written by Louis Sachar. Stanley is an
overweight 14 year old boy who has to spend 18 months at Camp Green Lake, a juvenile correctional
facility, because he is wrongly accused for stealing the shoes of the famous baseball player, Clyde
Livingston. In the book, the author portrays Stanley as a young boy who is unlucky because of a
family curse. However, during his stay at Camp Green Lake, Stanley discovers other traits about
himself that he didn t know that he had. In addition to his unlucky trait, bravery and kindness are also
characteristics that can be used to describe Stanley. Stanley considers himself an unlucky person. He
thinks that he and his family have been cursed because of his no good dirty rotten pig stealing great
great grandfather. Stanley is unlucky because he does not have any friends at school, his teachers
sometimes make hurtful comments about him, his family is poor, he lives in a small apartment, and his
father is an unsuccessful inventor. What makes Stanley feel really unlucky is that he s being punished
