Difference Between Language And Language
The above statement explains that to understand language, one must learn to view language
objectively, without any meaning or context added to the language. This would present the reader or
audience with nothing but pure language and with no other meaning or slang that would cause some
language to mean something else in a different context. For example, if you were to view language as
an object without any social context, then the word book is simply a book, a collection of pages that
tell a story or provide information. With social context however, a person may say they want to book a
table at a restaurant, which then means that they want to reserve a table and are not talking about an
actual book. This difference between language ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When children are asked to write, more often than not they prefer to write about things that have
actually happened or to recount events as if they re telling their friends what happened on the
weekend. The mistake that most teachers make these days is that they focus too much on the technical
aspects of writing, such as grammar, punctuation, and other such things, which are all obviously of
great importance when teaching students to write, but it causes the classes to be boring and as such the
lesson becomes drastically weaker, with the content not being learned (Gardner, 2014). If the students
are allowed to write, they will learn to like and appreciate writing as well as learning the language
conventions as they write. Writing also has a big implication for teachers regarding students of
different backgrounds, as it gives those students a better way of conveying messages and sharing a
little bit of themselves so that they may be better understood and not left on the outside of the
classroom due to social conventions. Gee and Hayes (2011) explain that language can mean different
things , for example it can be oral, recorded, written and it can also refer to the rules that are in place
to speak, read and write a language correctly grammatically. They also explain that it can be viewed as
a set of social conventions, shared by a group of people, about how to communicate . This last way of

Truck Mechanics Research Paper
Ever since I was in 8th grade I always dreamt of working on trucks. I really want to work on a Ram
3500 Cummins and that passion for trucks is the reason why I want to become a truck mechanic.
Truck mechanics, from my knowledge, have many different jobs. Not only do they work on truck
engines but they work on brakes and other parts as well as change fluids. They can be regular
mechanics too. Truck mechanics can on normal cars because preventative maintenance isn t job
specific. Truck mechanics are able to test drive the engines they fixed to make sure everything is done
correctly. They also run free check ups for smaller commercial trucks with diesel engines. Sometimes
they change the oil to run diagnostic checks in their free check ups. Truck mechanics have many jobs
and they handle may responsibilities daily. Upon research, I found that truck mechanics are diesel
engine experts as well as normal engine experts. They are also set to maintain diesel powered vehicles.

According to chron.com most mechanics work in a well lit, properly ventilated place. Chron.com also
states, shop temperatures are not always ideal, especially in the hot summer or cold winter. Places like
the pit are usually not well ventilated (chron.com). Furthermore, the job in general is a means of
getting dirty and handling greasy parts. Tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, and some power tools find
themselves getting greasy and dirty. In the mix of getting dirty they have a high risk for illness,
injuries, and death. Part of the risk of working as a truck mechanic is working with heavy machinery
and oils. The other parts come from burns, cuts, strains and sprains from over exertion (chron.com).

This sculpture falls in the modern art category and the style is abstract expressionism. This sculpture is
very large it is actually 110cm. The artist that created this sculpture was one of the many fine French
Sculptors, he was one of the younger generation who started out as a Symbolist painter as well as a
tapestry designer but he got an eye disease around the age of 40 and he had to give these things up but
then found love for sculpting . This artist had a love for Greek sculpture but he rejected some of what

The Call to Arms
Auguste Rodin
Bronze sculpture
The Rodin Museum, Philadelphia, USA
The style of this sculpture falls under impressionism. The dimensions are ( 113x 57.8 x 40.5 cm). This
particular sculpture was actually entered in a competition that was intended to design a monument that
was meant to honor and salute the heroes of Paris who took part in the Defense of Paris during the
Franco Prussian War, although Rodin did no win the contest this monument was still able to be
installed in Verdun in the 19th century to show appreciation to the French soldiers of World War I.
When you look closely at this sculpture you will see a female who has wings and to me this
symbolizes an angel, she is over top of a warrior of some sort who seems hurt or wounded, possibly
dead. This female may be his guardian angel or something. The lady with wings seems to be
screaming because her mouth is wide open , I am not sure if this is a cry for help or a rejoicing
moment.

Data Within The Text Open Minded
Assignment title: Document analysis, on happiness. In nineteen thirty eight a survey was conducted on
happiness in Bolton, dressed as a competition, this essay will look at three very contrastingly different
primary sources from that survey. Primary sources offer the historian the chance to critically analyse
the data within the text open minded. This enables the scholar a more refined view of what they are
reading. Thus enabling the contents to be scrutinized thoroughly throughout without adding any other
information. On first reading of the poster that initiated the survey, there are subtle references that
would lead to the assumption that this is worth partaking in. The document states, Once more
Competitions are trying to find out what Bolton thinks , this document would indicate that there
indeed was more than one such competition in Bolton before the survey here mentioned. Obviously, as
the Mass Observation website puts beside the title of the document, that this is indeed a hoax survey
dressed up as a competition. It goes on to further the lie by stating, Write down what you think never]

make as many mistakes as he likes with grammar and spelling, although it could be argued that if the
grammar and spelling was wrong, then the person who is judging the competition may not care, of
note here is the fact that the person who is judging the competition is of

Negligent Tort
Negligence is a tort law and it falls within the civil law which means a civil wrong has been
committed (Tort and Negligence, 2012). The American civil justice system, defines the law of torts as
situations that occur when the wrongful conduct of one party causes harm to another individual
(WiseGeek, 2003). The responsible party fails to act as a reasonable person to someone to whom she
or he owes a duty, as required by law under the circumstances. Negligent torts are not committed
purposely, and there must be an injury that occurs from the breach of the duty (Negligent Tort Law,
2014).

Small injuries or damages may occur when products malfunction, death may occur, or there could be
damage done to ones property. The company could face possible lawsuits and in order to prove
negligence, an individual must have had a duty of care, which is defined as having responsibility to act
in the best interest of another. A company must always be ready to defend itself in all the possible
issues that may arise and cause any form of lawsuit (WiseGeek, 2003).
Recalled Product
Even though businesses do not like to recall its products, but when there is a safety problem involved
a recall takes precedent over rather a company will lose money. Recalls are necessary to protect
consumers from injuries, and to save lives. Recalls are beneficial to everyone when expedited
effectively. From the act of negligence a company could publicly be exposed which could result in
profit loss due to consumers being afraid or refuse to purchase the product, and the stock values could
fall if the company is publicly traded. This can be very damaging for a business and could ultimately
force the company to go out of business (Seaquist, 2012).

responsible for protecting the public from unreasonable risks of injury and death associated with
consumer products. The CPSC has jurisdiction over approximately 15,000 different types of products

The Drug Of Prescription Drugs
As the NFL grows in infamy from their many concussion scandals, the misusing of prescription drugs
is overshadowed, but still remains as a major issue in the NFL. A huge problem facing the NFL today
is the ill advised use of painkillers as it affects former players and current players alike. If nothing is
done to stop this dilemma, players will continue to be affected by the accoutrements of painkillers.
Only through DEA investigations, increased restrictions on prescription drugs, and increased
monitoring of player s mental health, will we end the epidemic of the misuse of painkillers in the
NFL. Background of the Problem As NFL players continue their careers, they become household
names that people start to look up to as role models. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With injuries plaguing the NFL, team doctors are able to use drugs such as prescription painkillers to
allow players to play through pain. NFL team doctors are able to to receive and distribute illegal
painkillers with ease. In a Vice Sports article about the suppliers of the NFL s painkiller addiction,
Aaron Gordon states, SportPharm,...from at least June of 2009 to June of 2010, illegally provided
prescription drugs to 81 team doctors across American college and professional sports (Gordon, 2014,
para. 2). Many NFL team doctors claim that they did not know about the illegal drugs and that they
only use these companies for their systems of business. Gordon expresses that in a U T San Diego
report written by Michael Lipman, NFL teams are not only using SportPharm, an unlicensed
California Pharmacy, for their convenient tracking system, but for the buying of massive quantities of
painkillers. These painkillers end up in the hands of the players who have the potential of misusing
them from their intended use which can destroy their lives. One cause of professional football player s
painkiller addictions is that Doctors feel pushed to have the players continue playing. Some doctors
believe that if they do not load up their players with heavy drugs to be able to play, they will be let go

difficulty breathing, tachypnea and tachycardia (Hauser, 2014). CBC had elevated white count. Started
Clindamycin 300 mg po QID x 2 weeks and consulted surgeon to ensure wound not tunneling or
necrotic tissue inside.
Week Six: Delirium Impact
Depression, dementia and delirium are the trifecta of geriatric ailments (Downing, Caprio, Lyness,
2013). Depression is the most likely to get diagnosed and the risk of getting it increases with age
(Downing, Caprio, Lyness, 2013). It affects nearly a quarter of the elderly population in facilities
(Downing, Caprio, Lyness, 2013). Dementia is a cognitive decline that affects a significant portion of
older adults (Morandi et al., 2017). It is associated with both depression and delirium (Downing,
Caprio, Lyness, 2013). Treatment is challenging because medication do not really work and the best
solutions tend to be environmental (Morandi et al., 2017). Delirium is the most difficult as it is the
hardest to diagnose and pharmacological treatment is questionable (Morandi et al., 2017). It is acute in

Ancient Civilization And The Mayan People
Every ancient civilization had a set of beliefs and the Mayan people were no different. The Mayan
people believed in two worlds, the everyday world and the underworld, or the Place of Awe, (2012).
The Mayans believed in many gods, human sacrifice and the burial process for the poor and the kings
were very different. The Mayans became around 250 AD and the Olmec s influenced their religious
culture. It was not until 900 AD that the Mayans began to flourish in cities across modern day Mexico,
Guatemala and north Belize. One of the most important gods for the Mayans was the supreme god
Itzamana, the creator god, the god of fire and god of the earth (2012). Itzamana is shown as a king
who was in charge of minor gods. The God of Itzamana is connected to the sacred world tree, or Ceiba

believed that gods, spirits and dead ancestors lived in the underworld. The person in charge of sending
people to the underworld was the main chief. Unlike some religions, the belief of the underworld for
the Mayans was very sad, dark, cold and a place where there where mean gods that would torment

Customer service durations in the restaurant are variable, for example, some may take 90 minutes and
some may take 60 minutes.
Opportunities
Increased capacity presents opportunities for increased profits and provides better competitiveness in
the very competitive restaurant industry.
Threats
Adding a second food preparation area may create bottleneck that defeats the purpose of reducing the
customer waiting time.
Utilizing seats in full capacity may make customers feel crowded and compromise the customers
dining experience.
The market may not need the increased capacity.
FINANCIAL ANALYSIS
Assumptions
1. All data will only apply to busy nights (Thursday, Friday and Saturday), when the restaurant is in
full capacity.
2. During the busiest hours, 6:00 to 10:00 pm, each table would seat 4 separate groups of customers
rather than 3.
3. Information from the London location are used to analyze the Waterloo location, such as an average
of 3 trips to the food preparation area during dinner, average group of 4 to 6 people spent 90 minutes
on busy nights.
Analysis between design changes versus capacity changes (see Appendix D)
A combination design of adding a second food preparation area and moving the cooking grill will
have the most impact on the capacity by increasing volume by 19%.
Analysis scenarios of design change associated with capital cost, operating expense, gross profit, and
payback time (see Appendix E).

Abstract: Agriculture uses 85% of available freshwater resources worldwide and this percentage will
continue to be dominant in water consumption because of population growth and increased food
demand. In India agriculture, primarily depends on the monsoon, which is not a sufficient source of
water. So irrigation is employed in the agriculture area. This paper targets to offer a cloud based drip
irrigation system to aid the farmers. The proposed system uses a microcontroller, sensors, and a cloud
server to provide real time network with field over a Wi Fi network. The proposed system aims to
conserve water up to a large extent by providing automatic and manual modes of irrigation. The
system can be monitored by the user on an android application.

The Characteristics Of Military Warfare During The...
Due to the lack of better tactics, 4,435 soldiers were killed from battle wounds during the American
Revolution. The most common tactic during the American Revolution was line infantry, which was no
longer a viable tactic to use in future battles due to many deaths, and how it ultimately let the larger
army be victorious. This lead to new tactics specifically trench warfare which was first used during the
American Revolution and has now become the most used tactic in war, especially during the world
wars. There was another form of fighting called guerrilla warfare which was important for the
colonists to defeat the British because they knew the area much better than the British and could get
the upper hand. These military tactics used by the colonists in the American Revolution laid down the
foundation for advancement in tactical warfare. Line infantry helped at the time due to the weapons
used then, but in modern combat, the tactic has become obsolete. During the American Revolution,
weapons were not reliable or advanced enough to be used in quick combat where targets could be
moving. The first firearm to be used in the American Revolution was the Brown Bess musket and
weighed around 10.5 pounds, and was most effective within 50 yards, but could be used by a skilled
musketeer up to 175 yards. It took a long amount of time for the musketeer to reload the weapon if
once it was fired. A rifleman could shoot up to 2 5 rounds per minute, leaving them vulnerable to rush
attacks.

Speech On Painkillers
It s only natural to head straight for your medicine cabinet when you feel a headache coming on, but
did you know that you re actually putting yourself in danger by relying on painkillers every time you
have a migraine or eye fatigue? Overconsumption of painkillers can and almost always does lead to
the body developing a tolerance to them, which makes your regular dosage ineffective, meaning you
have to increase the number of painkillers you take to get rid of your headache. This, in turn, can
cause you to develop an addiction to painkillers, something that about 10% of Americans are believed
to suffer from.

previously mentioned pressure points and go straight to the Tian Zhu points.
The Tian Zhu points are unique in that they are located on the back of head. They rest just above the
sides of the neck, where the spine runs into the hairline. Applying pressure to the Tian Zhu points will
ease, and, in some cases, eradicate migraines so that you no longer have to spend hours lying in a
darkened room when you re supposed to be working. The one downside of the Tian Zhu points is that
it can be a challenge to reach them by yourself, so you may need a family member or particularly
obliging colleague to squeeze them for you.

The Life Of The Divine Comedy
A piece of literature written to walk people through life, and what is waiting for them after. The Divine
Comedy was written by a man of politics, relating his content to the events of his everyday life.
Moving deeper into the substance of the writing, there are three major sections represented, Inferno,
Purgatorio, and Paradiso. Furthermore, we will take a look at the nine circles of hell depicted in the
Divine Comedy.
Dante Alghieri s life leading up to the writing the Divine Comedy. Dante was known for engaging in
political agenda through his life and his writing. He was so into politics that he ran, and was elected as
one of the six priors of Florence in 1300. The priors were seen as a high group in the public eye and
only solidified his involvement in the government. His reign couldn t last forever though, and he was
exiled by the Black Guelfs upon their return to power. Dante greatly incorporated Florence politics
and society into the Divine Comedy because of his experience and knowledge on the subjects. Dante
is recorded to have traveled city to city in the hopes of finding military assistance in finding justice for
his unjust exile (Kumar . ) Along with that, he wanted to fight to bring the White Guelfs back in
power. Bringing this idea together, Akash Kumar wrote, settling for a presence in the court of certain
signori (political and military leaders) such as the Malaspina family in Lunigiana, Cangrande della
Scala in Verona, and finally Guido Novello of Ravenna.

responsible for taking possession of his land. The intent behind 1 Kings 21 1 16 is that the vineyard
was ancestral and was meant for God s people. God throughout the scriptures has brought justice to
those who were faithful to his commands and served him.
Contemporary readers have critically written about Naboth s vineyard and addressed some amazing
revelations. One the article is by Samuel Wells in Forging Ahab: Naboth s Vineyard and God s Justice
and the other by Candice Gage in Being Deborah in a Jezebel Generation. Both of the articles reveal
deeper themes about the story such as forgiveness and male

Jane Eyre Influence
During the Victorian era, many literary pieces of work were based around the topics of struggle and
societal problems. These topics are introduced in Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte as well as many other
literary pieces during the time. In Jane Eyre, the main character is Jane Eyre, a girl who struggles with
family and her social status. She was raised by Mrs. Reed, whom she eventually left, and encountered
many paternal figures in her life. The way she consistently encounters different paternal figures
influences her own views on affection. Jane s consistent finding of a paternal figure, shows how
consciously or subconsciously she is finding someone to fill the void of not having that higher figure
in her life. As a child, Jane is subconsciously ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The motif of her constantly finding a parental figure to give her affection and for her to give affection
doesn t only affect Jane in the present, it also affects her in her future. She had learned the ways of
giving, receiving, and the lack of affection in every paternal figure she had encountered. She learned
and evolved every time she had met someone, and used the knowledge of the past paternal figure to
fully develop into the Jane readers know nearing the end of the story. Therefore, the motif of Jane
consistently finding that paternal figure is one of the most important, as it not only affects her in the
present (Jane talks in the past as it s a reflection), but it also affects her future on how Jane chooses to

Sea Anemone Thesis
Mutual Symbiosis: A Model for Peaceful Coexistence
Peace, a great necessity in life, the absence of which you cannot fully understand until you have an
experience of the mayhem caused by the Boko Haram insurgents of my region dead children,
mutilated bodies, burnt down community and thousands of misplaced families. I really don t want to
share the experience in details but I assure you, the devil himself considers it horrible.
Nature does not just provide us with natural resources, it equally gives us a great number of life saving
lessons. Although human civilization has developed by the proper use of nature and its products,
peaceful coexistence, selfless interdependence and mutual relationship are lessons that could be learnt
from nature. A study of the clown fish and the sea anemone reveals to us a few of such lessons.

Militarization Of Law Enforcement
Over the past few decades there has been a drastic shift towards an almost completely militarized
police force around the world. Local, national and even international law enforcement agencies are
militarizing to face modern day threats. Law enforcement agencies around the world have been forced
to militarize in order to properly respond to the ever growing arsenals of terrorist and criminal
enterprises. This will be examined through looking at the globalization of militarizing police forces,
the violent criminal, problems with the militarized force, use of the military equipment, and finally the
justification for using military equipment.
When the evolution and globalization of the arms race hit the civilian and black market it provided the

SWAT teams were created in the late 1960s as quasi militaristic squads capable of addressing serious
and violent situations that presented imminent threats such as riots, barricade and hostage scenarios,
and active shooter or sniper situations (Dansky, p66). The multitude of situations that the SWAT teams
were created to handle are not due to theoretical situations, they were created because these situations
have happened before and the law enforcement community needed a specialized response team to
handle them. In addition to this some countries created these specialized teams in response to events
that happened, for example New Zealand established the AOS as a result of the killing of four officers
within a month (Kappeler, p2). The fact that the entire globe is militarizing helps law enforcement
agencies around the world assist each other in training and techniques so everyone can stay current on

Pros And Cons Of A Living Constitution
In the United States, there has often been debate over whether the U.S. Constitution is a living
constitution. A living constitution is the idea that the interpretation of constitutional phrases should
take into account the contemporaneous society. In other words, practices and traditions of the
government have the ability to change and transform over time in accordance with the changes in
society. Similarly, there has often been debate in the religious community as to whether the practices
and traditions of the church have the ability to change and transform in order to better suit the needs of
its constituents. Two Popes in the Roman Catholic church, Pope Francis and Pope Pius IX, have
published documents with opposing viewpoints about the church s ability to change and transform
over time. The aforementioned documents also highlight other issues commonly debated within the
church. Ultimately, Pope Francis favors a more progressive church, that is opento change, while Pope
Pius IX favors a church with more rigid guidelines that follow traditional practices. Pope Francis

Use Of Parody In Dr Strangelove
To show satire in Dr Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb, director
Stanley Kubrick uses parody, exaggeration, and incongruity. One effective method Kubrick uses is
parody. In the movie, Kubrick plays on actors and typical stereotypes. Major Kong, as played by
Louis Burton Lindley, Jr. or Slim Pickens, is a play on the American Cowboy. When Major Kong goes
down to the bombs to open the doors he gets dropped with the bomb. As he is seen leaving the plane,
Major Kong rides the bomb as if it were a bull in a rodeo. From Major Kong s heavy accent to his
cowboy, Major Kong is the stereotypical American Cowboy. Kubrick also plays on the Nazi scientist
who were sought after in WWII. Dr. Strangelove is a play on Werhner von Braun, a Nazi scientist.
While in the war room, Dr. Strangelove suggests a backup plan for if the doomsday device was fired.
During his speech, his hand keeps doing a Nazi salute as he struggles to suppress it. This is a parody
because during this time the US looked passed their Nazi ways due to their intelligence needed for the
space program. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the president if they fired all their missiles they would prevail and suffer only modest and acceptable

Comparison Of Virginia Woolf And A Room Of One s Own
Virginia Woolf was known as one of the great modern novelist. Woolf s work A Room of One s Own
is one of her greatest works, and in that work, she talks of how women should be given the same
rights as men in the literary world. Woolf speeches includes experiences she has had as men thinking
of women being inferior animals to them. She even talked about the story of William Shakespeare s
imaginary sister, Judith Shakespeare, and her story of trying to become a writer just like her brother.
Throughout the rest of Woolf s speech, she answers questions that she is presented, and also flashback
to her speech at Cambridge over the topic Women and Fiction. A Room of One s Own and Woolf s
speech on the topic Women and Fiction are very similar through Woolf s believes and her approach to
these two topics. Woolf s lecture on the topic Women and Fiction and her work A Room of One s Own
have a distinct connection, because they both talk of women s hardships of becoming a writer, talk of
what it takes for a woman to become a writer, and the way women are viewed in the man s eye.
Throughout both of Woolf s work she talks of the hardships that women have at becoming a literary
artist. According to Woolf, most women don t have the ability to become writers, because they are
made to take care of their families and that s it. For example, when Woolf s mother died in 1895 she
was forced to take over supervision of her home, and it was not till her father s death in 1905 (Woolf
Society of Great Britain). In chapter one, Woolf goes on to compare the difference in education that s
given to women and men and their drastic differences. Woolf says; The men s abodes have private
rooms; the women share tight quarters. Men s colleges boast well stocked libraries; women s colleges
provide sparse classrooms. Male students feast; female students sup. Woolf observes, One cannot
think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well. (Salem Press). Woolf believes that women
have a very unfair advantage when it comes to women and their education, and believes that women
will not be able to become successful writers. Given women s role in society during Woolf s lifetime it
would have been really hard for her to become a writer

The Imagery of Bloodshed in The Oresteia Essay
The Imagery of Bloodshed in The Oresteia
In the prologue of Agamemnon, the first play of Aeschylus trilogy, The
Oresteia, the watchman implores the gods for a blessed end to all our
pain. (20). He is asking for deliverance from the retributive system of
justice, where the only certainty is that bloodshed breeds more bloodshed.
The old men of the chorus in their opening chant, Hymn to Zeus, declare
that suffering must be experienced before man can be released from this
ceaseless irredeemable bloodshed and thus be, free from all the pain. (1)
They declare that it is a law laid down by Zeus that we must suffer,

At the beginning of the
play, the chorus describes the blood that was shed by Agamemnon in Troy,
where he was driven to avenge Priam s theft of Helen. Here, Agamemnon acted
true to revenge, [like] a stabbing Fury, (65) plunging his sword into a
mother/ bursting with unborn young the babies spilling, / quick spurts of
blood [and] cut off the race just dashing into life! (107) He is a bloody
lion that lapped its fill, gorging on the blood of kings. (812 13) Not
only did his need for vengeance cause bloodshed in Troy, it also resulted
in his sacrifice of his daughter. The chorus describes how Agamemnon
performed this act in order to appease Artemis for [she] must have blood.
(201) if the fleets are to be able to sail to Troy. The chorus relates
the older warlord saying, Obey, obey, or a heavy doom will crush me! / Oh
but doom will crush me/ once I rend my child/ the glory of my house / a
father s hand s are stained,/ blood of a young girl streaks the altar./
Pain both ways and what is worse?/ Desert the fleets, fail the alliance?/
No, but stop the winds with a virgin s blood,/ feed their lust, their
fury? feed their fury! Law is law! (205 16)

consequences that would arise out of not fulfilling the vendetta and
destroying Troy outweigh those which would result from the sacrifice of his

Youth Sports Argumentative
Participation in sports by children and adolescents is associated with a range of documented physical,
emotional, social, educational, and other benefits that can last into adulthood. But increasingly, many
young people opt out of sports, while others are locked out due to a lack of resources or access to
community programs. Health and other needs go unmet. The U.S. government produces limited data
on sport participation and physical activity rates, and none on youth before high school age. The
strongest data is generated through an annual household survey conducted by the Sports Fitness
Industry Association (SFIA). In 2008, 30.2% of youth ages 6 to 12 were active to a healthy level
through sports, organized or unstructured; by 2015, that number had dropped to 26.6%, according to
SFIA. Among 13 to 17 year olds, the rate fell from 42.7% to 39.3%. I believe, teens and younger
children shouldn t be restricted from playing sports in school because it keeps you healthy, builds
knowledge, and is helping give better self esteem. The first reason why kids should be able to play
sports is that it keeps them healthy. According to Facts: Sports Activity and Children by the Aspen
Institute, ¨Sports participation is a significant predictor of young adults participation in sports and
physical fitness activities. Adolescents who play sports are eight times as likely to be active at age 24

times, to put across their particular interpretations of the play. These methods and different

In the opening scene of the films, both versions use extremely different techniques to portray the
introduction of the play. Luhrmann, again, uses modernisation and starts the film with a news reporter
on a television slowly moving closer to the viewer. Along with the plain black background and no
music, this gives a very dramatic effect to the start of the film which will get the viewer instantly
interested in the rest of the film. Once the television has reached the front of the screen and the news
reporter has finished the introduction, the scene immediately changes to a fast and furious collection
of clips from modern USA. These clips of chaos, terror and destruction can be used to hint the coming
emotions of the film but also to draw the viewer s attention to the film. In my opinion it is Luhrmann s
way of showing that if Shakespeare had written Romeo and Juliet in the present day, this is the type of
chaos that the Capulet and Montague families could cause, a modern twist to the play. As well as the
images filmed, the camera effects, editing and dramatic music also add up to make the scene as
chaotic as possible. The fast zooming, panning and freeze frames give the effect of a disordered scene
which also makes the viewer feel as though they are a part

  • 2. Difference Between Language And Language The above statement explains that to understand language, one must learn to view language objectively, without any meaning or context added to the language. This would present the reader or audience with nothing but pure language and with no other meaning or slang that would cause some language to mean something else in a different context. For example, if you were to view language as an object without any social context, then the word book is simply a book, a collection of pages that tell a story or provide information. With social context however, a person may say they want to book a table at a restaurant, which then means that they want to reserve a table and are not talking about an actual book. This difference between language ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When children are asked to write, more often than not they prefer to write about things that have actually happened or to recount events as if they re telling their friends what happened on the weekend. The mistake that most teachers make these days is that they focus too much on the technical aspects of writing, such as grammar, punctuation, and other such things, which are all obviously of great importance when teaching students to write, but it causes the classes to be boring and as such the lesson becomes drastically weaker, with the content not being learned (Gardner, 2014). If the students are allowed to write, they will learn to like and appreciate writing as well as learning the language conventions as they write. Writing also has a big implication for teachers regarding students of different backgrounds, as it gives those students a better way of conveying messages and sharing a little bit of themselves so that they may be better understood and not left on the outside of the classroom due to social conventions. Gee and Hayes (2011) explain that language can mean different things , for example it can be oral, recorded, written and it can also refer to the rules that are in place to speak, read and write a language correctly grammatically. They also explain that it can be viewed as a set of social conventions, shared by a group of people, about how to communicate . This last way of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Truck Mechanics Research Paper Ever since I was in 8th grade I always dreamt of working on trucks. I really want to work on a Ram 3500 Cummins and that passion for trucks is the reason why I want to become a truck mechanic. Truck mechanics, from my knowledge, have many different jobs. Not only do they work on truck engines but they work on brakes and other parts as well as change fluids. They can be regular mechanics too. Truck mechanics can on normal cars because preventative maintenance isn t job specific. Truck mechanics are able to test drive the engines they fixed to make sure everything is done correctly. They also run free check ups for smaller commercial trucks with diesel engines. Sometimes they change the oil to run diagnostic checks in their free check ups. Truck mechanics have many jobs and they handle may responsibilities daily. Upon research, I found that truck mechanics are diesel engine experts as well as normal engine experts. They are also set to maintain diesel powered vehicles. According to fcg.infobase.com It is the job of Truck Mechanics to ensure the tractor trailers...run safely at optimum levels at all times, so they don t just have a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to chron.com most mechanics work in a well lit, properly ventilated place. Chron.com also states, shop temperatures are not always ideal, especially in the hot summer or cold winter. Places like the pit are usually not well ventilated (chron.com). Furthermore, the job in general is a means of getting dirty and handling greasy parts. Tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, and some power tools find themselves getting greasy and dirty. In the mix of getting dirty they have a high risk for illness, injuries, and death. Part of the risk of working as a truck mechanic is working with heavy machinery and oils. The other parts come from burns, cuts, strains and sprains from over exertion (chron.com). Truck mechanics have a chaotic and dangerous work ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When you look closely at this sculpture you will see a female who has wings and to me this symbolizes an angel, she is over top of a warrior of some sort who seems hurt or wounded, possibly dead. • 6. Data Within The Text Open Minded Assignment title: Document analysis, on happiness. In nineteen thirty eight a survey was conducted on happiness in Bolton, dressed as a competition, this essay will look at three very contrastingly different primary sources from that survey. Primary sources offer the historian the chance to critically analyse the data within the text open minded. This enables the scholar a more refined view of what they are reading. Thus enabling the contents to be scrutinized thoroughly throughout without adding any other information. On first reading of the poster that initiated the survey, there are subtle references that would lead to the assumption that this is worth partaking in. The document states, Once more Competitions are trying to find out what Bolton thinks , this document would indicate that there indeed was more than one such competition in Bolton before the survey here mentioned. Obviously, as the Mass Observation website puts beside the title of the document, that this is indeed a hoax survey dressed up as a competition. The most common tactic during the American Revolution was line infantry, which was no longer a viable tactic to use in future battles due to many deaths, and how it ultimately let the larger army be victorious. This lead to new tactics specifically trench warfare which was first used during the American Revolution and has now become the most used tactic in war, especially during the world wars. There was another form of fighting called guerrilla warfare which was important for the colonists to defeat the British because they knew the area much better than the British and could get the upper hand. These military tactics used by the colonists in the American Revolution laid down the foundation for advancement in tactical warfare. Line infantry helped at the time due to the weapons used then, but in modern combat, the tactic has become obsolete. During the American Revolution, weapons were not reliable or advanced enough to be used in quick combat where targets could be moving. The first firearm to be used in the American Revolution was the Brown Bess musket and weighed around 10.5 pounds, and was most effective within 50 yards, but could be used by a skilled musketeer up to 175 yards. It took a long amount of time for the musketeer to reload the weapon if once it was fired. A rifleman could shoot up to 2 5 rounds per minute, leaving them vulnerable to rush attacks. ... Dante is recorded to have traveled city to city in the hopes of finding military assistance in finding justice for his unjust exile (Kumar . ) Along with that, he wanted to fight to bring the White Guelfs back in power. Bringing this idea together, Akash Kumar wrote, settling for a presence in the court of certain signori (political and military leaders) such as the Malaspina family in Lunigiana, Cangrande della Scala in Verona, and finally Guido Novello of Ravenna. ... As he is seen leaving the plane, Major Kong rides the bomb as if it were a bull in a rodeo. From Major Kong s heavy accent to his cowboy, Major Kong is the stereotypical American Cowboy. Kubrick also plays on the Nazi scientist who were sought after in WWII. Dr. Strangelove is a play on Werhner von Braun, a Nazi scientist. While in the war room, Dr. Strangelove suggests a backup plan for if the doomsday device was fired. During his speech, his hand keeps doing a Nazi salute as he struggles to suppress it. This is a parody because during this time the US looked passed their Nazi ways due to their intelligence needed for the space program. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 29. Comparison Of Virginia Woolf And A Room Of One s Own Virginia Woolf was known as one of the great modern novelist. Woolf s work A Room of One s Own is one of her greatest works, and in that work, she talks of how women should be given the same rights as men in the literary world. Woolf speeches includes experiences she has had as men thinking of women being inferior animals to them. She even talked about the story of William Shakespeare s imaginary sister, Judith Shakespeare, and her story of trying to become a writer just like her brother. Throughout the rest of Woolf s speech, she answers questions that she is presented, and also flashback to her speech at Cambridge over the topic Women and Fiction. A Room of One s Own and Woolf s speech on the topic Women and Fiction are very similar through Woolf s believes and her approach to these two topics. Woolf s lecture on the topic Women and Fiction and her work A Room of One s Own have a distinct connection, because they both talk of women s hardships of becoming a writer, talk of what it takes for a woman to become a writer, and the way women are viewed in the man s eye. Throughout both of Woolf s work she talks of the hardships that women have at becoming a literary artist. According to Woolf, most women don t have the ability to become writers, because they are made to take care of their families and that s it. For example, when Woolf s mother died in 1895 she was forced to take over supervision of her home, and it was not till her father s death in 1905 (Woolf Society of Great Britain). In chapter one, Woolf goes on to compare the difference in education that s given to women and men and their drastic differences. Woolf says; The men s abodes have private rooms; the women share tight quarters. Men s colleges boast well stocked libraries; women s colleges provide sparse classrooms. Male students feast; female students sup. Woolf observes, One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well. (Salem Press). Woolf believes that women have a very unfair advantage when it comes to women and their education, and believes that women will not be able to become successful writers. Given women s role in society during Woolf s lifetime it would have been really hard for her to become a writer ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Youth Sports Argumentative Amaiya Phillips Youth Sports Argumentative Participation in sports by children and adolescents is associated with a range of documented physical, emotional, social, educational, and other benefits that can last into adulthood. But increasingly, many young people opt out of sports, while others are locked out due to a lack of resources or access to community programs. Health and other needs go unmet. The U.S. government produces limited data on sport participation and physical activity rates, and none on youth before high school age. The strongest data is generated through an annual household survey conducted by the Sports Fitness Industry Association (SFIA). In 2008, 30.2% of youth ages 6 to 12 were active to a healthy level through sports, organized or unstructured; by 2015, that number had dropped to 26.6%, according to SFIA. Among 13 to 17 year olds, the rate fell from 42.7% to 39.3%. I believe, teens and younger children shouldn t be restricted from playing sports in school because it keeps you healthy, builds knowledge, and is helping give better self esteem. The first reason why kids should be able to play sports is that it keeps them healthy. Whereas in the second article it states that organized activities are more important in the sense that they teach children things like commitment, teamwork, and devoloping healthy attitudes towards themselves. What better place to find an object of permanent value than a cemetery. At the corner of Cypresswood and I 45 I began to sift into a cemetery that I had no true interest in, or so I thought. As soon as you enter the archway you leave the outside world behind and step lightly as the graves surround you. You can still hear the loud banters of cars whizzing by at high speed on the freeway and smell the Sonic across the street, but the air is different inside the wooden pasture fence. The world flushes away to remember the fallen Wunsche family. Through this experience, I learned about the Wunsche s belief of the afterlife, our study of ancient man has shown that obviously, the Wunsche s were homo sapiens because they buried their fallen comrades. In essence, the fact that there was a cemetery at all shows this, but once you look at the individual tombs, it truly shows about who the person was and what they believed. Friedrich s tomb was a true potpourri of symbolic clashes. At the top it was adorned with a small cross, perhaps in reference to Friedrich s own belief in a Christian religion. Techniques Used to Direct Two Film Versions of William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet Having watched two different film adaptations of Romeo and Juliet , it is clear to see that the two directors, Baz Luhrmann and Franco Zeffirelli, have used a number of different techniques, quite differently at times, to put across their particular interpretations of the play. These methods and different interpretations are very obvious if you should study the same scene as portrayed in each film. Whilst Franco ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the opening scene of the films, both versions use extremely different techniques to portray the introduction of the play. Luhrmann, again, uses modernisation and starts the film with a news reporter on a television slowly moving closer to the viewer. Along with the plain black background and no music, this gives a very dramatic effect to the start of the film which will get the viewer instantly interested in the rest of the film. Once the television has reached the front of the screen and the news reporter has finished the introduction, the scene immediately changes to a fast and furious collection of clips from modern USA. These clips of chaos, terror and destruction can be used to hint the coming emotions of the film but also to draw the viewer s attention to the film. In my opinion it is Luhrmann s way of showing that if Shakespeare had written Romeo and Juliet in the present day, this is the type of chaos that the Capulet and Montague families could cause, a modern twist to the play. As well as the images filmed, the camera effects, editing and dramatic music also add up to make the scene as chaotic as possible.
