Pope Gregory VII and King Henry IV
The investiture controversy was conflict between church and state. Those days, Henry was most
powerful king in Europe, but Gregory willing to give him problems and wanted to dominate the state.
Gregory was threatened the king, but the problem was that he was without any military power and this
made him vulnerable. At that time bishops were important political figure and the main issue of
conflict was bishop s appointment because the Pope and the king both wanted to make bishops in their
favor. Moreover, Pope decided to put an end to civil authority over the church. He declared only the
church had the right to appoint, transfer, or remove bishops, but King began to appoint his own
bishops.
When the Saxon war was going defectively, the king made an advisory committee to advise him to
talk Gregory .Pope assumed this favorable sign that the king would come and talk to him before the
coronation. Henry won a military victory in 1075 in Saxon war and he had begun to restore royal
authority on winning places. He had not gone to talk with Pope Gregory but appointed imperial
candidate s arch bishop. He had not taken any advice from the pope and previous bishops who were
appointed by the pope. This made the pope furious so, he wrote admonish to King Henry.
According to the pope s letter, pope was founded by God and he had the authority to restore all
bishops and king. He wrote in his letter king must be obedient to the church. Gregory wanted to be
more powerful, so he wrote a

Effects Of Gay Media On Lgbtq
Gay Media and The Effects it Has on Heterosexuals Attitudes Towards LGBTQ
Twenty years ago, 42 million viewers watched the sitcom Ellen, featuring Ellen DeGeneres, and the
now famous Puppy episode. That night Ellen had admitted to the world that she was gay. The backlash
to her coming out was vicious, boycotts and protests towards the sitcom seemed neverending and
when the ABC network made the decision to renew the show for another season, they went to the
extent of putting a parental advisory warning at the beginning of each episode. Shortly after, it was
cancelled for being criticised as too gay. Fast forward 20 years later, Ellen DeGeneres was given the
Medal of Freedom by former President of the United States, Barack Obama who said, It s easy to
forget now just how much courage was required for Ellen to come out on the most public of stages 20
years ago. This event has been marked as a milestone referring to the world of entertainment for the
LGBTQ community. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The show has been very successful and has won critical praise and numerous awards. Until recently,
the two openly gay characters named Will and Jack were rarely shown being physically affectionate
with other men. However, the lead female character Grace, who is heterosexual, has often been shown
in sexual situations with men. Will and Grace has been criticized forcing heterosexual norms and
stereotypes about homosexual attributes such as gay men being feminine, flamboyant, and
promiscuous. By spring 2001, Will Grace was being watched by an average of 17.3 million viewers
each week. When coming out in the support of gay marriage, Joe Biden said It s been credited with

Bright Pacific Future Research Paper
The Bright Pacific Future for the U.S. is the opportunity for America to reach greater success on a
global landscape. The Pacific region off of the coast of California is home to resources and materials
that will benefit the United States on multiple levels. In terms of bettering the U.S. economy, culture,
and foreign relations, the future for America is currently in the islands off of the Pacific coast. In terms
of improving the American economy there are three categories that will help benefit the United States:
fuels, furs, and fertilizer. For fuel, the islands across the Pacific Ocean allow for transportation of coal
ships from the Hawaiian islands to the Philippines. Another plausible U.S. resources that can be
exploited off of Peru, is the island of Guano. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, there are three areas of interest that the United States need to access in order to gain greater trade
relations and alliances in order to exploit the Pacific territories. Japan, Hawaii, and China have
predominately controlled the Pacific islands up to this point, but with an improved Navy presence the
U.S. could find economic and cultural success for both the working and upper class. Another focal
point for the United States that was vital to world trade is having a passage from the Pacific Ocean to
the Caribbean. This connector will allow the east and west to control means of production along with
improving economic wealth. Weaker countries in the Pacific and Caribbean rely on the United States
commercially, as their governments and political authority realize that annexation is in the best interest
for both parties involved. The citizens of these smaller countries are not capable of maintaining stable
lifestyles so they need the outside support of the United States. In aiding weaker countries the United
States will benefit from stronger foreign relations that will benefit the U.S. in terms of trade and

Essay The Abortion Arguments of Cider House Rules
The Abortion Arguments of Cider House Rules
I am writing this essay on a Saturday evening, not with any real contemplation, or even planning. I am
writing this because I was just minutes ago watching the movie Cider House Rules. I won t go into the
plot of the movie, but, to explain my motivation for writing this, I will simply describe one portion of
the movie.
The scene at issue in my mind right now is one where a fourteen year old girl comes to the orphanage
which is the setting for part of the movie. This girl came to the orphanage because it was known in the
region as a place that performed abortions. She had had a crude abortion performed in such a way that
she had been severely injured (her uterus was punctured by a crochet ... Show more content on

In the movie, Homer is an orphan, and this may provide an interesting perspective in regards to the
status of the fetus. As an unwanted child himself, he empathizes with the unborn children that he
refuses to destroy.
So far, all we have talked about really is the emotion of the question of abortion. The purpose of this
essay (which will not be very long), is to examine these lines of reasoning, and to come to some
conclusion about the differing philosophies of these two characters.
The doctor s argument is, as I mentioned, very much a utilitarian one, and as you know, this sort of
argument doesn t sit well with me (see my Truth essays). Regardless of my perspective, though, the
doctor s first argument is one which many people (including some that I greatly respect) accept as a
good reason for legalized abortion. The doctor is making the very simple assessment that one death is
preferable to two. If the mother dies along with the baby, this is a waste and a shame, therefore he
feels as though he is obligated to perform an abortion that will not likely harm the young woman at
issue. Homer, on the other hand, takes a deontological stance he believes that his performing an
abortion is wrong, and that is as far as his reasoning has to go.
So far, the choice between philosophies is simple deontology or utilitarianism. In order to make the
choice a bit more relevant, allow me to

The Rights Based Dispute Resolution
The issue in need of mediation involves a young federal government employee named Edith and a
senior member of her department named Tom. An unwanted sexual advance outside the office towards
Edith left Tom endlessly apologetic towards her. After the incessant apologizing left Edith irritated and
uncomfortable with Tom, she transferred to a different department. Now unhappy with her new
position, Edith has chosen to bring her issue to her departments conflict resolution unit. Hoping to
solve the issue once and for all and get back to a position she enjoys, Edith now presents her problem
to a mediator who will determine a proper course of action.
Solving conflicts from a rights based perspective involves a highly formal process. The case is ...

A more reasonable suggestion would be to use another dispute resolution method that is administered
by the company itself.
Another perspective to consider is a power based dispute resolution method. Power based resolution
involves an action one party takes without the knowledge of the opposing party in order to achieve a
desired outcome (35). Through this perspective, issues are decided by an authoritative command (36).
This authoritative command has authority over both parties and makes a definite decision in favor of
one party (36). Power based methods may also involve a majority vote (37). A majority vote is usually
used for policy disputes and provides a just, fair and efficient method for resolving an issue (37).
If Edith and Tom s workplace were to resolve their issue using a power based dispute method, an
immediate superior of both parties would be chosen to decide in favor of one employee. This method
would prove to be unfair as the superior may side with the person he knows or likes more, rather than
look at the situation from an unbiased perspective. Edith may argue that because Tom is a senior
member of the group, the superior would more likely than not decide in his favor. If the workplace
chose to dispute the issue using the majority vote method, Edith s desire to have the issue disputed
confidentially would not be realized. Having the details of an issue this personal spread among a
workplace could have a

Medical Advances Throughout History And History
Medical advances throughout history has provided people the safety and comfort of knowing that
whatever illness befalls them, there is will be a treatment regimen that will bring relief.
Vaccinations has prevented and nearly eliminated many childhood diseases. Maintenance medications
provide a way for older adults to manage their chronic medical conditions. But there are some medical
conditions that are also chronic, but with no cure available. One such condition is HIV, or human
immunodeficiency virus. According to Tortora, HIV is the pathogen causing the loss of immune
function that selectively infects helper T cells (545). My goal in this paper is to show the advances
modern medicine has achieved in discovering the different ways to combat this disease, whether it is
attacking the virus directly or assisting our own body s ability to fight infection.
Vaccinations are usually are our first line of defense at preventing diseases. According to
Haynes, isolation of potent broadly neutralizing antibodies (bnAbs) assist CD8T cell killing of HIV
infected cells, have opened new avenues for strategies for HIV vaccine design (39). These antibodies
recognize a protein that is present on the surface of all HIV strains and neutralize the effects of the
virus. The problem researchers have here is that, with vaccination, a person builds up their own
immune response rather quickly. But with HIV vaccines, the antibodies are produced after two to four
years of infection due to these

Differences Between Gaap And Ifrs
Introduction
There are two distinct methods of accounting for finances in the business world. These two methods
are the methods both prescribed by the U.S., which is known as the generally accepted accounting
principles (GAAP), and that which is used by the international community known as international
financial reporting standards (IFRS). GAAP is regulated by the financial accounting standards board
(FASB) while IFRS is regulated by the international accounting standards board (IASB). These two
methods are currently under a process which is known as convergence or harmonization so that the
United States will eventually become integrated into the global community (Miller, S. E. 2009). This
will cause financial statements to be more usable for more people across the globe as well as enhance
citizens of the U.S. s ability to perform business more efficiently internationally.
Principles Versus Rules Based Methods
There are many challenges and hurdles to overcome in order to achieve harmonization between GAAP
and IFRS. The differences are widespread. Most importantly and fundamentally GAAP is considered
to be more rules based, while principalities are largely what guide the users of IFRS. GAAP
Regulations are more detailed, specific and voluminous. Conversely, IFRS regulations are less
voluminous and make allowance for more exceptions. As an example IFRS allows the reversal of a
write down after the fact while GAAP that when a write down is taken then it is irreversible.

Pursuing A Degree In Engineering Personal Statement
Although I believe that at this stage in my life that it is premature to have defined, long reaching goals,
I have set and achieved several short term goals, all in keeping within my belief in the philosophy that
knowledge for its own sake is fascinating and worthy of pursuit. I have found that as I learn more and
more about the world around me, new venues open and new goals manifest, giving me new frontiers
to explore.
I am currently interested in computer science and have set a goal to pursue a degree in Engineering.
As with many of the other goals that I set and achieved in the past, the most major influence on this
goal is the fact that I have been home schooled for most of my education. This opportunity has
allowed me to consistently dedicate much more time to extracurricular activities and other personal
projects than otherwise. For example, I was able to pursue an interest in electronics into most of the
Alberta high school curriculum in that area, before grade 10. Among other projects, I built a wired
telephone circuit from modified oscillator designs, which was able to function between floors of my
house. I have also found that, given a wide degree of freedom, my extracurricular interests have
likewise diversified. I have been interested in robotics, music, hockey, aerodynamics, painting,

Loss Of Innocence In The Handmaid s Tale
Coming into college I had an established belief system. I had asked myself extremely tough questions
about life, the purpose of humanity, etc.; and because I am completely aware that I have blind spots I
invited others to ask me tough questions as well. My innate desire to unveil truth was executed in a
manner similar to the technique that John Milton advocates for in his novel Areopagitica, in regard to
purity being a product of trial. I have always established my convictions on the basis of my beliefs
being able to withstand trials, because truth can be put on trial repeatedly, but if it is really true there
will always be a verdict of innocence. This court metaphor alludes to truth always being true, because
if it is really truth there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Offred s character revealed an interesting part of the human situation, and that is that we possess a
desire for some sense of stability and comfort in our situation regardless of if it is a large amount or
small. In the midst of Offred s unfortunate situation it becomes evident that her transition from her
previous life to her current situation has included a loss of freedom and power. Her lack of control and
her awareness of it is evident, and we see that her response to this is striving to find control, power,
and stability in anything that she can. The reader gets a glimpse of this when Offred admits to feeling
empowered by acquiring the sympathy of the commander and taunting the guards with her hips; she
also finds comfort and a sense of stability in her relationship with Nick. Offred s behavior reveals an
intimate human quality and that is the desire to have a form of control over our lives and decisions,
even when that is not necessarily the case. For example if a child has to go stay two weeks in
Wisconsin with family members they do not like and they don t have a choice. The child would be
upset, but a way to ease the anger would be to give them the opportunity to choose their form of
transportation train, plane, car, etc. This makes them feel a little better because they are getting to
control something, yet it doesn t change the fact that they are still required to go to Wisconsin and they
have no control in that. Sometimes when we are faced with a situation where we really have no
choice, if we can find a way to trick ourselves into thinking we do have a choice our situation
becomes more bearable. This is a result of us believing that we have some form of control, and this
concept is present in Offred s character throughout the Handmaid s Taleand it also reveals a human
quality that

How The Current Status And Future Of The Company
Introduction Modern technology has necessitated the use of communicating through the social
networking site on regular time intervals. Social networking sites have brought the world closer and
helped us connect easily. Individuals ensure to commit a minimum of an hour or two over the internet.
Social networking sites have helped employers and educational institutions to assess their employees
and help them in the hiring process. At the same time, students make use of these sites to stay
connected with the university activities. Such dependency is inevitable in the connected
communicating world. With time many networking sites have developed with different features.
Amongst all these sites the most influential and popular site has been Facebook. The site has seen
considerable development and growth over the last decade. The company initiated as a college
directory for Harvard University and then expanded over time to include more universities since its
inception in 2004. Currently, it stands as a public company which is valued at $2 billion. The paper
will critically analyze various aspects of the current status and future of the company. In addition, the
paper will focus on the security and privacy policy, competition in the face of global usage, investor s
interests in the company, growth potential and strategy, ways to thwart competition from entering the
market (Barnett Han, 2011). Facebook The inception of the company took place

Congenital Heart Defect
It is very important to note that congenital heart defects are among the most common birth defects
affecting more than 40,000 children a year. The defects can be very complex and life threatening or
relatively benign. Treatment is different for every cardiac defect and usually involves medicines,
surgeries, heart transplants, and mechanical ventilation. Hypoplastic left heart syndrome is
characterized by hypoplasia of the left ventricle, aortic stenosis, hypoplasia of the ascending aorta, and
coarctation (narrowing) of the aorta. In normal conditions the left side of the heart receives
oxygenated blood from the lungs and pumps it into the systemic circulation. In patients with HLHS,
the left ventricle and the aorta are underdeveloped. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
TOF involves four anatomical abnormalities of the heart: a large VSD, a stenotic pulmonary artery, an
overriding aorta, and right ventricular hypertrophy. The degree of cyanosis of TOF depends largely on
the size of the right to left shunt. Patients with left to right shunting may have little to no cyanosis and
are referred to as pink tetralogy. Patients with TOF may experience episodes of extreme cyanosis
called tet spells often during times of stress such as crying, dehydration, and fever. If left untreated
these hypercyanotic episodes can be fatal. Deletion of the gene on Chromosome 22, (22q11) is often
the cause of TOF among other congenital heart defects. Another gene associated with this anomaly is
the jagged1 gene, which can be diagnosed through the images of an echocardiogram. On an anterior
posterior chest x ray, the heart is shaped boot like. 3
Treatment after birth includes administering prostaglandin E to maintain the ductal patency and
pulmonary perfusion. In some cases Blalock Taussig shunt (BT shunt) can be performed to provide
adequate pulmonary blood flow to the lung. Surgeries are done over time from neonates to 4 6 months
of age. Mortality depends on the severity of TOF. It carries a 35% mortality rate if left untreated in the
first year of life and 50% mortality rate in the first three years of life. Genetic testing to look for these
mutations can be a viable option

What Is Sexism
Sexism is a form of discrimination that harms both males and females. Sexism is not only practiced in
culture but it is reinforced in schools through hidden curriculum. In order for the this issue to be
eradicated you need to make people aware that gender discrimination still exist in todays society. This
essay will discuss the issue of sexism. Sexism is a human rights concern as it violates rights of women
by not being treated equally and violates the right to freedom of expression for men. Gender role
stereotypes are socially constructed by society following the view of functionalism, conflict theory
and symbolic interaction. There are two types of sexism benevolent sexism and hostile sexism that
affects both genders. Sexism impacts negatively on education in regards to girls, causing girls to feel
uncomfortable, unwelcomed and scared and leads to them dropping out of school. Examples provided
discusses some peoples experiences of being victims of sexism. To address the issue of concern the

The Cherry Orchard by Anton Pavlovich Chekov
What is memory? Memory is the power or process of reproducing or recalling what has been learned
and retained especially through associative mechanisms. Having this in mind I am confronted with a
question which is what is the major theme in The Cherry Orchard? Memory plays an enormous role in
the story. Memory is one of the many main necessities within society. Memory is a fundamentally
important part of development for society. It is a way to have knowledge of our past selves, to gaze
upon how things were so great, or how much society has changed throughout the years. The Cherry
Orchard, by Anton Pavlovich Chekhov, is a significant story in terms of various symbolisms it
includes. As the title suggests, the play took place in a cherry orchard. The plot includes lots of various
symbolisms. For instance, memory is an important symbol in the play. What memory means for each
character and what it represents varies between each character. In The Cherry Orchard, memory is
seen both as a source of personal identity and as a burden. Each character is involved in a struggle to
remember, but at the same time in a struggle to forget certain aspects of their past. When looking back
to the past, society tends to look at the major defaults of the past, or vice versa looking at the major
accomplishments of the past. Society must learn to look at the everyday normal events that happens in
life, this means that it can be an everyday routine like a walk in the park, meeting up with

Dark Matter Within The Universe
more about dark matter in unknown rather than known. we know how much dark matter there is
because of its effect on the expanse of the universe, but besides that, it s a complete mystery. but it is
important we figure it out, because dark energy takes up about 68% of the universe. dark matter takes
up approximately 27%,everything else, like the earth, and all of our observed universe and all normal
matter, takes up less than 5% of the universe. yet even though it takes up so little of the universe we
still call it normal. dark matter is technically hypothetical since we can t directly observe it with our
telescopes, but the matter takes up the large majority of space itself. It can only be observed by its
effect on visible objects in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Scientists are sure that it exists because of the observable gravitational effect that it exhibits on galaxy
clusters and galaxies.
One way to explain how space acquires energy comes from the Quantum Theory of Matter. According
to this theory; the empty space is really full of temporary particles that evolve continuously until they
disappear. For instance, a theory in standard physics states that stars at the edges of a spiraled galaxy
should move much slower than those near the center of the galaxy, where the galaxy s visible matter is
more concentrated. But, observations show that stars tend to orbit at somewhat of an equal speed, no
matter where they are positioned in the galaxy. This puzzling theory makes sense if one assumes that
the stars at the borders of galaxies are affected by the gravitational pull of an unseen mass dark matter
in a halo around the galaxy. Another explanation for dark energy is that it is a new kind of dynamical
energy fluid or field that fills all of space but something whose effect on the expansion of the Universe
is the opposite of that of matter and normal energy.
Some dark matter possibilities could still be probable. If it was tied up in brown dwarfs or in small
chunks of heavy element, they could still be made up of baryonic matter. These possibilities are
known as massive compact halo objects, or MACHOs . The more common view is that dark matter is
not baryonic at all, but that it is

Compare And Contrast Egypt And Mesopotamia

Part I: Compare and Contrast Mesopotamian and Egyptian Cultures The two most significant
civilizations in ancient history are Mesopotamia and Egypt, They both developed environmental,
political, religious and social patterns as well as architecture and art. Although they had a lot of things
in common, they were also different in a lot of ways. Mesopotamia and Egypt were using river to
develop their own agriculture systems. Mesopotamia encompasses the land between the Tigris and
Euphrates rivers, while Egypt is settled along the Nile River. In Mesopotamia, the weather was not as
well as Egypt did. It was flooding frequently and unpredictably. Furthermore, it was a place that
lacked of natural barriers and limited natural resources. In order to solve the problems, Sumerians dug
irrigation ditches, built city walls and traded with other people in order to get enough natural
resources. In Egypt, the flooding of the Nile was predictable and also helped to renew the farmlands.
Egyptians stayed close to the river because it provided enough natural resources which were good for

Methyl Orange Synthesis Lab Report
Experiment 11B consisted of synthesizing methyl orange, a synthetic dye, and testing this dye s
coloring quality and effectiveness as a pH indicator. Methyl orange is an acid base indicator. In a pH
of greater than 4.4, it becomes a yellow solution with a negatively charged sulfonate ion. When
submerged into a solution with a pH less than 3.2, the dipolar red ion (helianthin) predominates.
Methyl orange is a type of azo dye, which is commonly found in food, fabric, paint, and other brightly
colored products. The general structure consists of the N5N functional group sandwiched between two
aromatic species. Azo dyes are brightly colored because of their extensive conjugated system which
gives rise to a strong chromophore. The exact color depends on both the nature of the aromatic group
and the substituents. Methyl orange is synthesized through an azo coupling reaction between a
diazonium ion and N,N dimethylaniline. An electrophilic aromatic substitution causes the positively
charged diazonium ion to act as the electrophilic species. In the first step of azo coupling the
diazonium intermediate is synthesized. This process is called diazonation, in which the diazonium
intermediate is formed by the reaction between sulfanilic acid (an aromatic amine) ... Show more

The Influence Of William Herschel s Telescope
Kathleen Lundeen, an English professor at Western Washington University, offers a view of William
Herschel s creation of the largest telescope (for at least fifty years), and how the public received this
invention. Lundeen explains that Herschel was as renowned as a maker of telescopes as he was as an
astronomer, and he oversaw the construction of several hundred instruments, which were sold in
England and on the continent (2). Herschel, his sister, and his son, all shared an interest in astronomy;
and all of which made numerous contributions to the study of the sky (O Connor Robertson 1999).
Despite Herschel s success as an astronomer and inventor, the public and his peers managed to find
significant flaws with his telescope and designs. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although Herschel had a lot of success with his forty foot telescope, he himself was aware of its
limitations and flaws. He knew that moving the massive scope was not really feasible, which made
looking at different parts of the sky a challenge. Also, the material the telescope was made of was not
ideal. The telescope s mirror was very thick, and tarnishing became an issue, especially because of the
amount of copper. Condensation would also occur, which not only affected the visibility, but also
accelerated the tarnishing (Lundeen 9). Despite the flaws, I think people tend to forget just how
massive this telescope was, and how revolutionary it should be considered, even just as an example of

Essay The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
On December 3, 2004, President Bush signed the Individuals with Disabilities Education
Improvement Act of 2004. This Act is also known as Public Law 108 446. The Individuals with
Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) is the law that secures special education services for children with
disabilities from the time they are born until they graduate from high school. The law was re
authorized by Congress in 2004. This re authorization has driven a series of changes in the way
special education services are executed. These changes are continuing today and they affect special
education and related services across the United States.
There are several different purposes of IDEA. The first is to ensure that all children with disabilities

There are more purposes, but those will have to wait for another day.
While all children can be referred for evaluation for special education, not all are found to be eligible.
The student will be tested in all areas related to the child s assumed disability by the multidisciplinary
educational team. In order to be eligible for special education services, the child s assume disability
has to impact the child s ability to learn. Parents represent the child s interests. They need to stay
informed and involved in their child s education. IDEA of 2004 strengthened the role, as well as the
responsibility, of parents and ensures that they and their families have opportunities to participate in
their child s education. IDEA also protects the rights of parents by ensuring that they can be members
of the IEP teams. Parents can be involved in the evaluations and placements of their children and have
a say in what happens.
Not only are the students and parents affected, but also the teachers. In order for teachers to be highly
qualified, they must have a bachelor s degree and must prove their knowledge in the core curriculum
that they are teaching. They can prove their knowledge by passing the PRAXIS series tests. Teaching
standards have risen due to the research conducted involving the relationship between the quality of
teaching and low income

Classical Music Vs. Contemporary Music
By universal, they mean that music exists in every culture. However, the meanings and emotions
attached to the music are interpreted differently depending on the listener. People will associate
different meanings and feelings with a musical performance based on their cultural upbringing and life
experience.
When we categorize music, we use terms such as classical, folk or popular to distinguish different
types of music. However, using labels is problematic because there can be stereotyping associated
with the terms. For example, there is a notion that classical music is better than folk and popular music
because it suggests a connection with European classical music. Folk music is considered lower in
value, and popular music has the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each culture has its own customs and patterns, but I don t think that there is one that should be
considered normative over others. I grew up in a Vietnamese household, so some of my family s
customs are different from the average American family s customs. I consider both cultures to be a
part of my life, but neither takes precedence over the other.
The four basic components of music are timbre, pitch, rhythm and dynamics. Out of the four, timbre is
most helpful in identifying world music tradition. Each culture has unique media in its music, and the
characteristic timbre of each medium allows us to identify the media used.
Examples of aerophones include the saxophone, which is a reed instrument, the European flute, a type
of flute, and the brass trumpet, a type of trumpet.
The two basic types of chordophones are lutes and zithers. An example of a lute is a guitar, and
examples of zithers are the piano and the Japanese koto.
Idiophones are instruments that produce sound when they are plucked, struck, or shaken. Examples of
idiophones include lamellophones (plucked), gongs (struck) and rattles (shaken).
Membranophones are categorized by their shape, and examples are Goblet drums, kazoos, and the
bongo.
A pitch is the frequency level of a tone, while a tuning system is a set of commonly used pitches in a
musical tradition. A scale is less encompassing than a tuning system; it is the set of pitches used in a
performance.

Always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 5:20 Patience Yes we all heard the cliché, patience is a virtue many times over, and it

much is required when working on a body toning regiment. Relax and persevere because a pleasant
change will happen although it may take up to a couple of weeks before noticeable, but it s coming. A
person s wisdom yields patience; it is to one s glory to overlook an offense. Proverbs 19:11 Prayer Are

Good President Qualities
My paper is going to be on the qualities the president needs to be a good president. The president
needs to be focused at all times of the presidency, and he needs to have the knowledge when to be
honest and when not to be honest with the people. Also the president should have confidence in
themselves and their ideas. Honesty, focus and confidence is what I think a would make a good
president of the United States. A president needs to be focused on the tacks at hand the wars he needs
to be cautious of the warriors lives out there in the battlefield( Farrell para. 7). And the president needs
to look over deals and sales with countries. One example is Abraham Lincoln he figured out a way to

Berkshire Hathaway Phenomenon
In the Context of Modern Finance Theory
Introduction
Over the 46 years ending December 2012, Warren Buffett (Berkshire Hathaway) has achieved a
compound, after tax, rate of return in excess of 20% p.a. Such consistent, long term, out performance
might be viewed as incompatible with modern finance theory.
This essay discusses the Berkshire Hathaway phenomenon in the context of modern finance theory.

Having compared the differences, it is still worth noting that Markowitz did not rule out fundamental
analysis in portfolio selection process, as is said in his foregoing paper,(Markowitz, 1952) the process
of selecting a portfolio may be divided into two stages.
The first stage starts with observation and experience and ends with beliefs about the future
performances of available securities. The second stage starts with relevant beliefs about future
performances and ends with the choice of portfolio. This paper is concerned with the second stage .
Part 2 Efficient Market Hypothesis
The strong form of efficient market hypothesis states that all information, no matter public or private,
instantaneously affects current stock price. Semi strong form is only concerned with public
information, while the weak form suggests that current stock price reflects information in the previous
prices. In short, they simply imply that in the long run, no one should be able to beat the market in
terms of investment return.
As is said in Fama s paper in 1970, (Eugene F, 1970) the evidence in support of the efficient markets
model is extensive, and (somewhat uniquely in economics) contradictory evidence is sparse .
However, Warren Buffet has always criticised efficient market hypothesis as much as he could. The

Synchronous Machine For A Motor And A Generator
Synchronous Machines Louis Meyer EE 3501 Section 3B November 7, 2014 Table of Contents
Abstract This report contains details from three lab experiments performed using a synchronous
machine for both a motor and a generator. The fundamental principle of a synchronous machine is that
the electrical frequency is related to the mechanical frequency. The first lab performed consisted of
doing two different tests, the open circuit and short circuit tests, respectively. By performing these two
basic tests, it can be determined the armature voltage and current changes drastically with each test.
The second lab performed required to use the synchronous machine as a generator. When acting like a
generator, it becomes necessary to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are two primary synchronous machines, the synchronous generator and the synchronous motor.
Both machines are very useful depending on the application necessary for their use. Depending on the
external conditions, it is required to have an understanding of how the synchronous machine should be
modeled for each use. The synchronous machine is commonly found in industrial settings, clocks, and
power plants. The common factor between these fields is the requirement of running at a constant
speed. The synchronous generators used in power plants are common because it is economically
efficient to keep the generator running at a constant frequency. Depending on the application, the
synchronous machines can be modeled proportionally between the mechanical frequency based on the
number of poles and the frequency of current (see theory). Consequentially, the electrical radian
frequency is determined be the electrical frequency. Modeling a synchronous machine is a simple task,
provided the necessary parameters are known. For this lab the model of the synchronous machine was
already considered. The synchronous machine being used had a rating of 208 V (line to line rms), 60
Hz, and 200 W. It is a 4 pole machine with a synchronous speed of 1800 RPM. The open circuit and
short circuit tests performed in this lab can

The Crisis Of The European Union
Inflation, crisis, recession, fear, unemployment rise, debt, and depression are some of the commonly
used phrases in relation to failing economies. There are many different factors that contribute to the
downfall of an economy, whether it be the political structure, the aftermath of a war, or the role of
government itself. A failing economy s severity can vary based on the specific country s situation. In
comparison to the world, there have been a few countries under the European Union that have
continually worsened economically through the years: Greece and Spain.
To understand the economic issues arising in Greece and Spain, one must have an understanding on
the basis of the European Union. The European Union (EU) came into existence on ... Show more

3). There have been a number of factors contributing to Greece s fiscal crisis both endogenous and
exogenous. When focusing on the endogenous causes of the fiscal crisis, there is no doubt that running
consistently widening public deficits in conjunction with declining external competitiveness played a
decisive role on the deteriorating fiscal stance of the Greek economy (Kouretas, Vlamis, 2010, 394).
Greece s deficit has risen to 12.7%, which is more than four times higher than the European rules have
allowed (BBC News, 2010, para. 8). On the other hand, the main exogenous implication is the timing
of response. The Eurozone governments failed to give a clear signal indicating their readiness to
support Greece, while the Greek fiscal crisis was escalating, because many EU Member States were
unsure of how much assistance they could individually given to a country in financial difficulty
(Kouretas, Vlamis, 2010, 396). In addition, Greece has been facing problems with the underground
economy, which is also known as the shadow economy. The shadow economy focuses on criminal
activity, such as drugs sales, smuggling, gambling, etc. and focuses on legal transactions that are
conducted in cash and unreported to fiscal or other competent authorities (Katsios, 2006, 62). Greece
has been accountable for about 27 30% of the GNP for the underground economies in comparison to
various European countries (67). With all these financial issues going on in Greece, there is a

Twelfth Night Gender Analysis

Shakespeare Term Essay
Gender is one of the most prevalent themes in William Shakespeare s comedy, Twelfth Night. In
Twelfth Night, the play is based on Viola, a twin who gets separated away from her brother in a
shipwreck. To find work, Viola undertakes the disguise of Cesario, a young male who wants to work
in the household of Duke Orsino. Orsino has been personally dealing with the love he feels for Lady
Olivia, who refuses to entertain any man since she is dealing with the loss of her brother and father. In
Orsino s efforts to have Cesario facilitate love between himself and Olivia, Olivia ends up falling in
love with Cesario. Viola has also found herself falling in love with Orsino, thus creating a love
triangle between these three. In this love triangle, Shakespeare exhibits a challenge and a
reinforcement of the gender roles that were present in the setting he personally wrote the play from.
Through Olivia s attraction to Cesario, he challenges these gender roles and through Orsino s
attraction to Cesario, he reinforces these gender roles.

Twelfth Night is reported to have been written in 1601/1602 to be a festival amusement for the end of
the holiday season which would have been during Shakespeare s successful career in London as a
writer and an actor [shakespeare theatre peter thomson]. In early, Seventeenth century England, both

Allelopathy Affects Germination of Radish Seeds Essay
Introduction This experiment is designed to test the allelopathy of two different treatments, Eucalyptus
(Eucalyptus cinerea) and Lemon (Citrus limon). The two treatments will be tested on radish seeds
(Raphanus sativus) to investigate the effect of the treatments on the germination of the radish seeds.
Allelopathy is the beneficial or harmful effects that one plant has on another plant by the release of
chemicals. Allelopathy studies the interactions among plants, fungi, algae and bacteria with the
organisms living in a certain ecosystem, interactions that are mediated by the secondary metabolites
produced and exuded into the environment (Francisco A Macías, José MG Molinillo, Rosa M Varela,

In the dishes, I dropped the appropriate treatment into the center, where the marks were made. Next, I
closed the petri dishes, taped them up, and let them sit at room temperature for a week. Then I opened
them up to take two measurements. The first measurement was the number of seeds germinated. The
second measurement was to measure the seedling lengths.
Results All five groups recorded the outcomes that they established. For our bench, we found that nine
raddish seeds in the control dish, zero raddish seeds in the eucalyptus dish, and four radish seeds in the
lemon dish germinated and sprouted. Our bench also found that the average seed length for the control
was thirty one millimeters, for the Eucalyptus was zero. and for the Lemon was eight and a half.
Below, is a chart and graph that shows the whole data as averages from all five benches. Each bench
did the exact same experiment so we knew nothing would be biased.

Essay on Boyles Law Apparatus
Abstract The objective of this lab was to determine the relationship (if any), between the pressure and
volume of a gas given the temperature and # of molecules remained constant. Using the Boyle s law

between pressure and volume. However, the relationship was not a direct relationship, and it was
determined that the pressure and volume of a gas are inversely proportioned. Thus, proving Boyle s

  • 2. Pope Gregory VII and King Henry IV The investiture controversy was conflict between church and state. Those days, Henry was most powerful king in Europe, but Gregory willing to give him problems and wanted to dominate the state. Gregory was threatened the king, but the problem was that he was without any military power and this made him vulnerable. At that time bishops were important political figure and the main issue of conflict was bishop s appointment because the Pope and the king both wanted to make bishops in their favor. Moreover, Pope decided to put an end to civil authority over the church. He declared only the church had the right to appoint, transfer, or remove bishops, but King began to appoint his own bishops. When the Saxon war was going defectively, the king made an advisory committee to advise him to talk Gregory .Pope assumed this favorable sign that the king would come and talk to him before the coronation. Henry won a military victory in 1075 in Saxon war and he had begun to restore royal authority on winning places. He had not gone to talk with Pope Gregory but appointed imperial candidate s arch bishop. He had not taken any advice from the pope and previous bishops who were appointed by the pope. This made the pope furious so, he wrote admonish to King Henry. According to the pope s letter, pope was founded by God and he had the authority to restore all bishops and king. He wrote in his letter king must be obedient to the church. Gregory wanted to be more powerful, so he wrote a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Effects Of Gay Media On Lgbtq Gay Media and The Effects it Has on Heterosexuals Attitudes Towards LGBTQ Twenty years ago, 42 million viewers watched the sitcom Ellen, featuring Ellen DeGeneres, and the now famous Puppy episode. That night Ellen had admitted to the world that she was gay. The backlash to her coming out was vicious, boycotts and protests towards the sitcom seemed neverending and when the ABC network made the decision to renew the show for another season, they went to the extent of putting a parental advisory warning at the beginning of each episode. Shortly after, it was cancelled for being criticised as too gay. Fast forward 20 years later, Ellen DeGeneres was given the Medal of Freedom by former President of the United States, Barack Obama who said, It s easy to forget now just how much courage was required for Ellen to come out on the most public of stages 20 years ago. The Pacific region off of the coast of California is home to resources and materials that will benefit the United States on multiple levels. In terms of bettering the U.S. economy, culture, and foreign relations, the future for America is currently in the islands off of the Pacific coast. In terms of improving the American economy there are three categories that will help benefit the United States: fuels, furs, and fertilizer. For fuel, the islands across the Pacific Ocean allow for transportation of coal ships from the Hawaiian islands to the Philippines. Another focal point for the United States that was vital to world trade is having a passage from the Pacific Ocean to the Caribbean. This connector will allow the east and west to control means of production along with improving economic wealth. Weaker countries in the Pacific and Caribbean rely on the United States commercially, as their governments and political authority realize that annexation is in the best interest for both parties involved. • 5. Essay The Abortion Arguments of Cider House Rules The Abortion Arguments of Cider House Rules I am writing this essay on a Saturday evening, not with any real contemplation, or even planning. I am writing this because I was just minutes ago watching the movie Cider House Rules. I won t go into the plot of the movie, but, to explain my motivation for writing this, I will simply describe one portion of the movie. The scene at issue in my mind right now is one where a fourteen year old girl comes to the orphanage which is the setting for part of the movie. This girl came to the orphanage because it was known in the region as a place that performed abortions. She had had a crude abortion performed in such a way that she had been severely injured (her uterus was punctured by a crochet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the movie, Homer is an orphan, and this may provide an interesting perspective in regards to the status of the fetus. As an unwanted child himself, he empathizes with the unborn children that he refuses to destroy. So far, all we have talked about really is the emotion of the question of abortion. The purpose of this essay (which will not be very long), is to examine these lines of reasoning, and to come to some conclusion about the differing philosophies of these two characters. The doctor s argument is, as I mentioned, very much a utilitarian one, and as you know, this sort of argument doesn t sit well with me (see my Truth essays). Regardless of my perspective, though, the doctor s first argument is one which many people (including some that I greatly respect) accept as a good reason for legalized abortion. The doctor is making the very simple assessment that one death is preferable to two. If the mother dies along with the baby, this is a waste and a shame, therefore he feels as though he is obligated to perform an abortion that will not likely harm the young woman at issue. Homer, on the other hand, takes a deontological stance he believes that his performing an abortion is wrong, and that is as far as his reasoning has to go. So far, the choice between philosophies is simple deontology or utilitarianism. In order to make the choice a bit more relevant, allow me to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Now unhappy with her new position, Edith has chosen to bring her issue to her departments conflict resolution unit. A more reasonable suggestion would be to use another dispute resolution method that is administered by the company itself. Another perspective to consider is a power based dispute resolution method. Power based resolution involves an action one party takes without the knowledge of the opposing party in order to achieve a desired outcome (35). Through this perspective, issues are decided by an authoritative command (36). This authoritative command has authority over both parties and makes a definite decision in favor of one party (36). Power based methods may also involve a majority vote (37). A majority vote is usually used for policy disputes and provides a just, fair and efficient method for resolving an issue (37). If Edith and Tom s workplace were to resolve their issue using a power based dispute method, an immediate superior of both parties would be chosen to decide in favor of one employee. This method would prove to be unfair as the superior may side with the person he knows or likes more, rather than look at the situation from an unbiased perspective. Edith may argue that because Tom is a senior member of the group, the superior would more likely than not decide in his favor. If the workplace chose to dispute the issue using the majority vote method, Edith s desire to have the issue disputed confidentially would not be realized. Medical Advances Throughout History And History Medical advances throughout history has provided people the safety and comfort of knowing that whatever illness befalls them, there is will be a treatment regimen that will bring relief. Vaccinations has prevented and nearly eliminated many childhood diseases. Maintenance medications provide a way for older adults to manage their chronic medical conditions. But there are some medical conditions that are also chronic, but with no cure available. One such condition is HIV, or human immunodeficiency virus. According to Tortora, HIV is the pathogen causing the loss of immune function that selectively infects helper T cells (545). My goal in this paper is to show the advances modern medicine has achieved in discovering the different ways to combat this disease, whether it is attacking the virus directly or assisting our own body s ability to fight infection. Vaccinations are usually are our first line of defense at preventing diseases. According to Haynes, isolation of potent broadly neutralizing antibodies (bnAbs) assist CD8T cell killing of HIV infected cells, have opened new avenues for strategies for HIV vaccine design (39). These antibodies recognize a protein that is present on the surface of all HIV strains and neutralize the effects of the virus. The problem researchers have here is that, with vaccination, a person builds up their own immune response rather quickly. But with HIV vaccines, the antibodies are produced after two to four years of infection due to these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Differences Between Gaap And Ifrs Introduction There are two distinct methods of accounting for finances in the business world. These two methods are the methods both prescribed by the U.S., which is known as the generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and that which is used by the international community known as international financial reporting standards (IFRS). GAAP is regulated by the financial accounting standards board (FASB) while IFRS is regulated by the international accounting standards board (IASB). These two methods are currently under a process which is known as convergence or harmonization so that the United States will eventually become integrated into the global community (Miller, S. E. 2009). This will cause financial statements to be more usable for more people across the globe as well as enhance citizens of the U.S. s ability to perform business more efficiently internationally. Principles Versus Rules Based Methods There are many challenges and hurdles to overcome in order to achieve harmonization between GAAP and IFRS. The differences are widespread. Most importantly and fundamentally GAAP is considered to be more rules based, while principalities are largely what guide the users of IFRS. GAAP Regulations are more detailed, specific and voluminous. Conversely, IFRS regulations are less voluminous and make allowance for more exceptions. As an example IFRS allows the reversal of a write down after the fact while GAAP that when a write down is taken then it is irreversible. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I have found that as I learn more and more about the world around me, new venues open and new goals manifest, giving me new frontiers to explore. I am currently interested in computer science and have set a goal to pursue a degree in Engineering. As with many of the other goals that I set and achieved in the past, the most major influence on this goal is the fact that I have been home schooled for most of my education. This opportunity has allowed me to consistently dedicate much more time to extracurricular activities and other personal projects than otherwise. For example, I was able to pursue an interest in electronics into most of the Alberta high school curriculum in that area, before grade 10. Among other projects, I built a wired telephone circuit from modified oscillator designs, which was able to function between floors of my house. I had asked myself extremely tough questions about life, the purpose of humanity, etc.; and because I am completely aware that I have blind spots I invited others to ask me tough questions as well. My innate desire to unveil truth was executed in a manner similar to the technique that John Milton advocates for in his novel Areopagitica, in regard to purity being a product of trial. I have always established my convictions on the basis of my beliefs being able to withstand trials, because truth can be put on trial repeatedly, but if it is really true there will always be a verdict of innocence. Offred s character revealed an interesting part of the human situation, and that is that we possess a desire for some sense of stability and comfort in our situation regardless of if it is a large amount or small. In the midst of Offred s unfortunate situation it becomes evident that her transition from her previous life to her current situation has included a loss of freedom and power. Her lack of control and her awareness of it is evident, and we see that her response to this is striving to find control, power, and stability in anything that she can. The reader gets a glimpse of this when Offred admits to feeling empowered by acquiring the sympathy of the commander and taunting the guards with her hips; she also finds comfort and a sense of stability in her relationship with Nick. Offred s behavior reveals an intimate human quality and that is the desire to have a form of control over our lives and decisions, even when that is not necessarily the case. For example if a child has to go stay two weeks in Wisconsin with family members they do not like and they don t have a choice. The child would be upset, but a way to ease the anger would be to give them the opportunity to choose their form of transportation train, plane, car, etc. This makes them feel a little better because they are getting to control something, yet it doesn t change the fact that they are still required to go to Wisconsin and they have no control in that. Sometimes when we are faced with a situation where we really have no choice, if we can find a way to trick ourselves into thinking we do have a choice our situation becomes more bearable. This is a result of us believing that we have some form of control, and this concept is present in Offred s character throughout the Handmaid s Taleand it also reveals a human quality that ... The defects can be very complex and life threatening or relatively benign. Hypoplastic left heart syndrome is characterized by hypoplasia of the left ventricle, aortic stenosis, hypoplasia of the ascending aorta, and coarctation (narrowing) of the aorta. TOF involves four anatomical abnormalities of the heart: a large VSD, a stenotic pulmonary artery, an overriding aorta, and right ventricular hypertrophy. The degree of cyanosis of TOF depends largely on the size of the right to left shunt. Patients with left to right shunting may have little to no cyanosis and are referred to as pink tetralogy. Patients with TOF may experience episodes of extreme cyanosis called tet spells often during times of stress such as crying, dehydration, and fever. If left untreated these hypercyanotic episodes can be fatal. Deletion of the gene on Chromosome 22, (22q11) is often the cause of TOF among other congenital heart defects. Another gene associated with this anomaly is the jagged1 gene, which can be diagnosed through the images of an echocardiogram. On an anterior posterior chest x ray, the heart is shaped boot like. 3 Treatment after birth includes administering prostaglandin E to maintain the ductal patency and pulmonary perfusion. • 14. The Cherry Orchard by Anton Pavlovich Chekov What is memory? Memory is the power or process of reproducing or recalling what has been learned and retained especially through associative mechanisms. Having this in mind I am confronted with a question which is what is the major theme in The Cherry Orchard? Memory plays an enormous role in the story. Memory is one of the many main necessities within society. Memory is a fundamentally important part of development for society. It is a way to have knowledge of our past selves, to gaze upon how things were so great, or how much society has changed throughout the years. The Cherry Orchard, by Anton Pavlovich Chekhov, is a significant story in terms of various symbolisms it includes. As the title suggests, the play took place in a cherry orchard. The plot includes lots of various symbolisms. For instance, memory is an important symbol in the play. What memory means for each character and what it represents varies between each character. In The Cherry Orchard, memory is seen both as a source of personal identity and as a burden. Each character is involved in a struggle to remember, but at the same time in a struggle to forget certain aspects of their past. When looking back to the past, society tends to look at the major defaults of the past, or vice versa looking at the major accomplishments of the past. Society must learn to look at the everyday normal events that happens in life, this means that it can be an everyday routine like a walk in the park, meeting up with ... It can only be observed by its effect on visible objects in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Scientists are sure that it exists because of the observable gravitational effect that it exhibits on galaxy clusters and galaxies. One way to explain how space acquires energy comes from the Quantum Theory of Matter. According to this theory; the empty space is really full of temporary particles that evolve continuously until they disappear. For instance, a theory in standard physics states that stars at the edges of a spiraled galaxy should move much slower than those near the center of the galaxy, where the galaxy s visible matter is more concentrated. But, observations show that stars tend to orbit at somewhat of an equal speed, no matter where they are positioned in the galaxy. This puzzling theory makes sense if one assumes that the stars at the borders of galaxies are affected by the gravitational pull of an unseen mass dark matter in a halo around the galaxy. Another explanation for dark energy is that it is a new kind of dynamical energy fluid or field that fills all of space but something whose effect on the expansion of the Universe is the opposite of that of matter and normal energy. Some dark matter possibilities could still be probable. If it was tied up in brown dwarfs or in small chunks of heavy element, they could still be made up of baryonic matter. These possibilities are known as massive compact halo objects, or MACHOs . The more common view is that dark matter is not baryonic at all, but that it is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Compare And Contrast Egypt And Mesopotamia Mei Kei Ho Professor Codella Humanity 300 14th February, 2017 Part I: Compare and Contrast Mesopotamian and Egyptian Cultures The two most significant civilizations in ancient history are Mesopotamia and Egypt, They both developed environmental, political, religious and social patterns as well as architecture and art. Although they had a lot of things in common, they were also different in a lot of ways. Mesopotamia and Egypt were using river to develop their own agriculture systems. Mesopotamia encompasses the land between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, while Egypt is settled along the Nile River. In Mesopotamia, the weather was not as well as Egypt did. It was flooding frequently and unpredictably. Furthermore, it was a place that lacked of natural barriers and limited natural resources. In order to solve the problems, Sumerians dug irrigation ditches, built city walls and traded with other people in order to get enough natural resources. In Egypt, the flooding of the Nile was predictable and also helped to renew the farmlands. Egyptians stayed close to the river because it provided enough natural resources which were good for growing crops such as wheat, flax and papyrus. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 20. Methyl Orange Synthesis Lab Report Experiment 11B consisted of synthesizing methyl orange, a synthetic dye, and testing this dye s coloring quality and effectiveness as a pH indicator. Methyl orange is an acid base indicator. In a pH of greater than 4.4, it becomes a yellow solution with a negatively charged sulfonate ion. When submerged into a solution with a pH less than 3.2, the dipolar red ion (helianthin) predominates. Methyl orange is a type of azo dye, which is commonly found in food, fabric, paint, and other brightly colored products. The general structure consists of the N5N functional group sandwiched between two aromatic species. Azo dyes are brightly colored because of their extensive conjugated system which gives rise to a strong chromophore. The exact color depends on both the nature of the aromatic group and the substituents. Methyl orange is synthesized through an azo coupling reaction between a diazonium ion and N,N dimethylaniline. An electrophilic aromatic substitution causes the positively charged diazonium ion to act as the electrophilic species. In the first step of azo coupling the diazonium intermediate is synthesized. This process is called diazonation, in which the diazonium intermediate is formed by the reaction between sulfanilic acid (an aromatic amine) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Herschel, his sister, and his son, all shared an interest in astronomy; and all of which made numerous contributions to the study of the sky (O Connor Robertson 1999). He knew that moving the massive scope was not really feasible, which made looking at different parts of the sky a challenge. Also, the material the telescope was made of was not ideal. The telescope s mirror was very thick, and tarnishing became an issue, especially because of the amount of copper. Condensation would also occur, which not only affected the visibility, but also accelerated the tarnishing (Lundeen 9). The second stage starts with relevant beliefs about future performances and ends with the choice of portfolio. This paper is concerned with the second stage . Semi strong form is only concerned with public information, while the weak form suggests that current stock price reflects information in the previous prices. Synchronous Machine For A Motor And A Generator Synchronous Machines Louis Meyer EE 3501 Section 3B November 7, 2014 Table of Contents Abstract This report contains details from three lab experiments performed using a synchronous machine for both a motor and a generator. The fundamental principle of a synchronous machine is that the electrical frequency is related to the mechanical frequency. The first lab performed consisted of doing two different tests, the open circuit and short circuit tests, respectively. By performing these two basic tests, it can be determined the armature voltage and current changes drastically with each test. There are two primary synchronous machines, the synchronous generator and the synchronous motor. Both machines are very useful depending on the application necessary for their use. Depending on the external conditions, it is required to have an understanding of how the synchronous machine should be modeled for each use. The synchronous machine is commonly found in industrial settings, clocks, and power plants. The common factor between these fields is the requirement of running at a constant speed. The synchronous generators used in power plants are common because it is economically efficient to keep the generator running at a constant frequency. Depending on the application, the synchronous machines can be modeled proportionally between the mechanical frequency based on the number of poles and the frequency of current (see theory). Consequentially, the electrical radian frequency is determined be the electrical frequency. Modeling a synchronous machine is a simple task, provided the necessary parameters are known. For this lab the model of the synchronous machine was already considered. The synchronous machine being used had a rating of 208 V (line to line rms), 60 Hz, and 200 W. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 3). There have been a number of factors contributing to Greece s fiscal crisis both endogenous and exogenous. When focusing on the endogenous causes of the fiscal crisis, there is no doubt that running consistently widening public deficits in conjunction with declining external competitiveness played a decisive role on the deteriorating fiscal stance of the Greek economy (Kouretas, Vlamis, 2010, 394). Greece s deficit has risen to 12.7%, which is more than four times higher than the European rules have allowed (BBC News, 2010, para. 8). On the other hand, the main exogenous implication is the timing of response. The Eurozone governments failed to give a clear signal indicating their readiness to support Greece, while the Greek fiscal crisis was escalating, because many EU Member States were unsure of how much assistance they could individually given to a country in financial difficulty (Kouretas, Vlamis, 2010, 396). In addition, Greece has been facing problems with the underground economy, which is also known as the shadow economy. The shadow economy focuses on criminal activity, such as drugs sales, smuggling, gambling, etc. and focuses on legal transactions that are conducted in cash and unreported to fiscal or other competent authorities (Katsios, 2006, 62). Twelfth Night Gender Analysis Janelle Owusu Dr. Wood LMC 3228 30 November 2017 Shakespeare Term Essay Gender is one of the most prevalent themes in William Shakespeare s comedy, Twelfth Night. In Twelfth Night, the play is based on Viola, a twin who gets separated away from her brother in a shipwreck. To find work, Viola undertakes the disguise of Cesario, a young male who wants to work in the household of Duke Orsino. Orsino has been personally dealing with the love he feels for Lady Olivia, who refuses to entertain any man since she is dealing with the loss of her brother and father. In Orsino s efforts to have Cesario facilitate love between himself and Olivia, Olivia ends up falling in love with Cesario. Viola has also found herself falling in love with Orsino, thus creating a love triangle between these three. In this love triangle, Shakespeare exhibits a challenge and a reinforcement of the gender roles that were present in the setting he personally wrote the play from. Through Olivia s attraction to Cesario, he challenges these gender roles and through Orsino s attraction to Cesario, he reinforces these gender roles. 1 Twelfth Night is reported to have been written in 1601/1602 to be a festival amusement for the end of the holiday season which would have been during Shakespeare s successful career in London as a writer and an actor [shakespeare theatre peter thomson].
