A symposium is a method of group discussion where 2 or more speakers, under the direction of a chairman, each present separate speeches on different aspects of a topic. The chairman introduces the topic and distributes it to the speakers. Each speaker then prepares and presents their portion without discussion. The chairman guides the speakers and summarizes the conclusions. The audience listens and can ask questions at the end. A symposium provides a wider discussion than a lecture and organizes different roles to avoid conflicts, allowing the audience to gain knowledge from different perspectives. However, it does not allow discussion between members and limits participation and speaker time.
