The Mortgage Crisis Of 2007
The mortgage crisis of 2007 marked catastrophe for millions of homeowners who
suffered from foreclosure and short sales. Most of the problems involving the
foreclosing of families homes could boil down to risky borrowing and lending.
Lenders were pushed to ensure families would be eligible for a loan, when in
previous years the same families would have been deemed too high risk to obtain
any kind of loan. With the increase in high risk families obtaining loans, there was a
huge increase in home buyers and subsequently a rapid increase in home prices. As a
result, prices peaked and then began falling just as fast as they rose. Soon after
families began to default on their mortgages forcing them either into foreclosureor
short sales. Who was to blame for the risky lending and borrowing that caused the
mortgagemeltdown? Many might blame the company Fannie Mae and Freddie
Mac, but in reality the entire system of buying and selling and free market failed
home owners and the housing economy. However, hope might be on the horizon
for the victims of the mortgage disaster of 2007/2008. Home buyers who were
foreclosed upon years ago, or boomerang buyers, are beginning to be eligible to
buy homes again. While some feel hope after feeling bamboozled by lenders and
Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, some feel anxious and fearful of the thought of
buying again. Yet there are lessons that have been learned by the mortgage
meltdown. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac provided a lesson for the
Turbidity Of Water
Discussion Environmental factors: The mean values of selected analytical water
quality parameters, among the four seasons from April 2015 to February 2016,
revealed that generally most selected physico chemical properties (Temp., pH, E.C.,
Ak., Turb., T. hard., D.O, B.O.D, NO3, NO2, NH3, Cl ) of water samples were within
permissible limit (WHO 2004). In the current study, water temperature was the
maximum during summer and the minimum was during winter, where both are
within the normal range for growth of aquatic organisms, as the Temp. directly
affected aquatic organisms as well as other physico chemical characteristic (Turker et

2012). The Dissolved oxygen (D.O), the most important abiotic factor influencing
any aquatic ecosystem, obtained from atmosphere and photosynthesis, its
depletion is due to manifestation of pollution, respiration and decomposition of
dead decaying sediment (Payakka Prommi 2014). In this study D.O were within
normal range according to WHO (2004), except in summer was somewhat low.
There is evidence that, oxygen concentrations showed a seasonal fluctuation,
agreed with our results, as elevation of water temperature in summer leads to the
decrease of the solubility of oxygen gas (Abdel Hamid et al. 1992, Ueda et al.
2000). Moreover, an inverse correlation detected in this study between D.O against
temperature and pH approved the results of Popoola Otalekor (2011), where high
temperature is positively correlated with increased respiration (Co2) that lead
subsequently to decreased pH and definitely decreasing D.O. The extreme value of
Biological oxygen demand (B.O.D) attained during summer but the least was during
winter, on contradictory to D.O values, confirming negative correlation between

Life of Pi Essay
The Aura of Orange
Human, animal, plants, and all the Earth s content is survivor. They are fighting for
their rights in order to live in this beautiful world. The novel Life of Pi written by
Yann Martel, has employed a lot of symbols that is related to the life. One of the
most significant symbols is the color orange. The author uses orange as a symbol of
maintenance of the spirit to survive in survival. This can be proved as most of the
objects that are in the color orange in the novel generate feelings of hope, can
develop courage in survivors, and last but not least can keep them continuously
energetic; in order to strengthen their hearts and spirits to face all the possibilities in
life.

Although Orange Juice is just a weak animal that never haunt any animal and just
love to eat fruits, however, her courage overpowers her ability. As Pi monologue,
an adult female orang utan cannot defeat an adult male spotted hyena... What does
fruit eater know about killing? Where would it learn where to bite, how hard, for
how long? (Martel 130). This is something amazeing as the orang utan is very
brave to face the hyena. One of the reasons why Pi called the female orang utan as
Orange Juice is because the orange animals do represent the courage in an animal.
On top of that, Richard Parker the Bengal tiger also represent courage in an orange
animal as he is being scared by the hyena. The flame colored carnivore emerged
from beneath the tarpaulin and made for the hyena. The hyena was leaning against
the stern bench, behind the zebra s carcass, transfixed. It did not pull a fight.
Instead it shrank to the floor, lifting a forepaw in a futile gesture of defense, shows
that the hyena was afraid of the orange Bengal tiger that look fierce on him (Martel
150). This is how the Bengal tiger stay to survive in the lifeboat on the spooky
ocean. Therefore, it is true that orange is the color of courage; and this can spread up
the spirit of survival to promote the important of life.
In order to maintain the spirit of survival, energy is very important both physically
and emotionally,
The Bloodless Revolution Research Paper
The Glorious Revolution has other names. These name would be The Revolution
of 1688 and The Bloodless Revolution. The Revolution started in 1688 and ended in
1689. It took place in the 17th century in England. James took the throne if his
brother Charles when he died in 1685. Since James was a Catholic Christian, he
removed people in the church and army along with Protestant officials and replaced
them with Catholics. James thought laws made by the Parliament were biased to
Catholics so he excluded them and tried to make his own laws that were more
liberal to the Catholics. The Parliament thought that since James had a very big army
stationed near London, it was a symbol that it was an aggressive act and it might

On July 1, 1890. This was in Ireland north of Dublin. The north side commander
was William of Orange, the Dutch protestant, and the south side commander was
James II, the deposed catholic king. These two men were blood related. James was
not only the uncle of William but also his father in law. With troops supplied by
the catholic king Louis XIV of France, James landed in Ireland in March of 1689.
Louis had been Williams sworn enemy. James saw Ireland as a way to regain his
crown by invading England. William always focused on ending Louis XIV s
domination of Europe throughout his reign. William decisively had to deal with the
army James represented that had a significant threat. Ireland had never seen a force
as large as Williams invasion. He altogether had more than one thousand horses to
draw his gun equipment and artillery. It was so large that eye witness said Belford
Lough looked like wood. William told the people he had come to ensure them that
Ireland would be settled in a lasting
Cultural Landscape Of House Of Worship
The cultural landscape of a house of worship reflect the beliefs and practices of a
particular religion. Houses of worship have similarities and differences which are
evident in the landscape that are reflective of their similarities and differences in
beliefs. I found that of all the houses of worship we visited on our field trip, St.
Michael s Antiochian Orthodox Churchand St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church
seemed to be strikingly similar yet different.
St. Michael s Antiochian Orthodox Church is an eastern orthodox church. While at
the church I noticed several aspects of the landscape. When I walked in I could
smell the burning of incense, a smell symbolistic of the way they worship. When you

The differences derive from theology. Both Roman Catholics and Eastern Orthodox
Catholics understand God to exist in three forms, known as the Trinity. God is the
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Father refers to God s role as the creator of the
world. The Son refers to Jesus. Finally, the Holy Spirit, they believe, enters people s
souls during their daily lives. Another similarity is that holding reverence for the
saints plays a central role in the spiritual lives of Roman Catholics and Eastern
Orthodox Catholics. The physical representation of the saints tends to take different
forms, however. Roman Catholics usually use statutes to represent their saints, as
evident in St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church; meanwhile, Orthodox Catholics more
often use paintings to represent their saints, as evident at St. Michael s Antiochian
Orthodox Church. Another difference between the two is that for Roman Catholics
there is a procedure for choosing officially sanctioned saints. This process does not
exist in the Orthodox community. The central doctrinal divide between the two
Christian churches concerns the Pope and his supremacy. Roman Catholics believe
the Pope is the living embodiment of Jesus. He is then, in their opinion, the head of
the entire Christian religion. Eastern Orthodox Catholics view the Pope as the head
of Christianity in Rome, a geographical
Search Dog Research Paper
Picking the right dog for the job is important in Search and Rescue. It takes a dog
and person with special attributes to become a successful team. Search dogs are
very important to a community. Search dogs can find in lots of different
environments, from the woods to a burnt building. It may look easy for a dogto

person they are looking, for is the real challenge. Dogs and handlers work for 2 4
years to become certified, during those years many tests but be passed. To even take
these tests you have to fulfill the prerequisites, which are often tests in themselves.

Often times the more experienced dog knows when to trail and persona and air

missing person left, their rafts are all over the ground and plants surround the path.
When there is wind however the dog may not be able to track as well. The wind
may be catching the skin rafts and blowing them out the dog?s range of smell.
When doing training outside and on actual searches the handler needs to place the

Thesis Statement Of Criminal Justice System
1.STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
Law should not sit limply, while those who defy it go free and those who seek its
protection lose hopes1
In order to reform India s archaic, criminal laws amendments were undertaken by the
government which were made in Criminal Procedure Code of 1973 in 2008. The
major shove of the victim related amendments were on defining victim and recasting
existing defunct laws related to the provision of compensation to victims. To leave
the provision of compensation to the sole discretion of the judge, unfortunately
becomes the major myth of the recent law. The prime focus of this paper would be
an analysis of the amended law and the loopholes of the same.

Every business could learn something from Lincoln s golden rule; job security.
This company not only survived during the depressions it thrived. How did it
thrive? Because of their core value, job security (after one year, each employee is
guaranteed he will not be discharged except for misconduct and is guaranteed at
least 30 hours of work each week) meant the trying times of the nation did not affect
the employees of The Lincoln Company. Their employees were spared the stress and
concern of job loss which during a depression was of course prevalent. Eliminating
that fear alone allowed employees to operate more efficiently.
At the Lincoln Company performance appraisal is very important to the founders.
They believe fulfilling customer needs always comes first and to continually fulfill
customer needs employee performance is a necessity. Therefore the performance
appraisal system allows the company to assess employee output and award the
employee based on the work they put in. Since this method is clearly communicated
to employees they are incentivized to work harder; thus, the end goal of fulfilling
customer needs happens more naturally.
Communication is key in any organization and the Lincoln Company has been very
successful with communication. All job descriptions are clear and the hierarchy
within the organization is clearly defined. By defined, I mean, the company has never

Australopithecus Afarensis, and Australopithecus
Africanus...
The phylogeny started off with Proconsul heseloni as the common ancestor to
Sivapithecus indicus, Australopithecus afarensis, and Australopithecus Africanus.
The reasoning for this was from the approximated age of Proconsul heseloni of 23
million years ago. This places Sivapithecus indicus roughly 15 million years after,
suggesting that Sivapithecus indicus directly evolved from Proconsul heseloni.
From Proconsul heseloni, it was decided that three species evolved from it. These
species included A. A. afarensis, A. africanus and Sivapithecus indicus. Sivapithecus
indicus was branched off the early human evolutionary line as the characteristics from
the dentation and skull characteristics differed from that of A. afarensis and A.
africanus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This difference can be used to infer that they lived in different areas of the world as
it can be assumed that the diets of the two were unalike, explaining the dissimilarity
of the canine size. As it is inferred that the two species lived in different regions of
the world, it can be assumed that they co existed at the same time period.
Homo habilis followed A. africanus indicating that A. africanus was a direct
ancestor of H. habilis. The reasoning for this included the brain weight and body
weight of the H. habilis slightly increased from that of A. africanus. As there was a
general increase the overall brain to body weight ratio, indicating that there was an
increase in the overall body weight of the two.
Homo erectus was branched off after H. habilis as the justification for this was from
the muzzle angles of the different species. As H. erectus had a muzzle angle of
107В° it was decided that it was reasonable to assume that H. erectus evolved from
H. habilis. However, in the overall positioning of the phylogeny, it was placed on a
side branch off H. habilis. This reasoning for this was that if H. erectus was placed
on the main evolutionary line to evolve from H. ergaster, the muzzle angles from H.
ergaster, H. erectus, and Homo neaderthalensis would increase then decrease. It
would not be logical to place H. erectus on the main evolutionary line. Further
justification that H. erectus was not a direct ancestor

Reducing Cost A successful business is always looking for ways to reduce its costs

that will aid in reducing costs. He can allow his employees to work from home.
This will prevent overhead costs by avoiding the costs associated with renting
office space. Another recommendation is that Will Bury negotiate the price for
royalties to a lower rate as his product becomes more popular. Assumptions and
Recommendations Assumptions were made while determining recommendations
for Will Bury. It is assumed that he is running a monopoly and that he owns the
patent to the technology he is using. If so these are barriers to entry for others.
Another assumption is that Will Bury will hire a full time employee who works 40
hours per week without benefits. It is also assumed that the cost of the current
website Will is using is $100 per month and that it would only cost $500 to build a
new digitizer. It is recommend that Will Bury hire an employee from the United
States to allow for his oversight and to avoid any issues that lack of involvement in
this crucial stage of business may bring about. I also recommend that the price for
both the lapsed copyright material and the copyrighted material remain at the current
price while increasing marketing. The increased sales generated from the increased

Research Schools and Pluralism
The view of the world is different in the mind of every individual, but at times these
views correspond establishing research schools. In the world of politics, research
schools have different ontological and epistemological assumptions which allows
them to view the state and power differently. Their primary concern is to figure out
the nature of the world and be able to figure out what one is going to focus on and
disregard. The four main research school are pluralism, rational choice,
institutionalism and Marxism. Pluralism embraces societal values, culture and
interests which they believe are the driven force of political outcomes. Rational
choice focuses on the individuals self interest and self awareness and believes that an

Marxist s primary concern is the struggles of the working class battling
exploitation as the capitalist class obtains as much value from their labour as they
can.# While pluralist believe that the crack in political outcomes is created by
multiple groups, Marxists believe that the conflict is centralized within the
struggle between the workers and the capitalists. The state is not vulnerable as
pluralists believe but it is essentially capitalist where class power is the lever to
political outcomes.# When it comes to describing the world as it is, both research
schools accurately explain the relationship between power and the state. However to
a certain degree, it is most dependent on the nature of the state. For example, in a
democratic country like Canada, interest groups play a large role in policy decisions.
First Nations interest groups were able to influence policy decisions which has
helped them achieve a wide range of benefits from the government, from health
assistance to income assistance and government programs primarily directed to
them.# They were able to influence without the economic resources that Marxism is
fond of. Everyone has access to power but it is dependent on the individual s active
participation and the way it is organized.# However a Marxist may argue that the
policy decisions
What Is The Theme Of The Sorrow Of War
HoГ ng Au Phuong, pen name Bao Ninh, is a Vietnamese novelist, essayist, short
story writer, and author of the aesthetically beautiful, The Sorrow of War written in
1990. The book revolves around the bitter Vietnam War where Ninh served in the
27th Youth Brigade in the North Vietnamese Army. Out of the approximately five
hundred young men in his unit, only ten of them survived, including Ninh himself.
Although he was on the victorious side of the war, he was scarred because of his
experiences. One of the many ways through which Bao Ninh coped with his post war
life was through writing. The Sorrow of War was an outcome of this coping
mechanism. Through writing about Kien s experiences in the novel, Ninh hoped to

reminded him of all the pain and misery that came along. But even though these

Sexual Assault And The Forms Of Sex Offenders Essay
There is a growing problem with crime in the United States, but the one that is
unique in its own way is sexual assault and the varieties of sex offenders that engage
in those activities. A sex offender is anyone who commits a crime that involves any
sexual act. Statistical data like risk assessment can help minimize and prevent some
crimes that involve a sex offender. Risk assessment is defined as the probable threat
that includes an action that involves a specific activity. In this case, the risk
assessment would define sex offenders and the probable statistics that a sex offender
would commit another sexual offense. Risk assessments formed to counter the
various crimes that are disconcerting in the United States. Statistical data can also
prove the growing problem that sex offenders pose to the country. Treatments and
preventions have evolved to combat the sex offenders of our time since the offenders
are constantly changing with the environment and technology around us. Sexual
assaults can affect anyone at any time no matter what gender, race, or disability a
person has. There are numerous classifications for sex offenders and different
guidelines to what classifies that specific offender in that category.
Correspondingly, citizens have the risk to classify as a sex offender for example, if
the person was drunk and urinating in a park at night. Not all sex offenders
committed a violent sexual crime, but the majority of convicted sex offenders had
multiple offenses
The Importance Of A Zoo
I have always enjoyed the zoo, but in the back of my mind, I have constantly
thought to myself that it is wrong and I should not be giving money to the people
that lock the animals up for our enjoyment. Seeing their sad faces always got to
me, but I continue to go. I think the feeling of going and seeing exotic animals in
the middle of the United States has always fascinated me. I have always loved
animals and been eager to learn more about them. The only problem is they are
being locked up and stared at all day for our enjoyment. In today s world animal
captivityis a problem and it should be solved using humane sanctuaries and education
to the public and people caring for these animals. In denotative terms, a zoois a
collection of living animals usually for public display. This relatively simple
definition gives no indication of the implications a zoo has for animals confined to
their cages. Very few federal laws protect the millions of wild animals who live in
captivity in aquariums, circuses, theme parks, and zoos in the U.S. On the federal
level, the Animal WelfareAct (AWA) is the only statute that protects the welfare of
individual zoo animals. Under the AWA, animals, in the custody of a dealer or
exhibitor are protected by regulations governing their care, handling, and transport.
All cold blooded animals are excluded from the Act s definition of animal. The Act
gives power to the Secretary of Agriculture, whose power is further delegated to the

It is said that effective teacher will use both assessment and evaluation regularly to
improve student learning and to guide instruction. Indeed, both have pivotal roles in
the teaching learning process yet, somehow they do differ in many ways. Assessment
and evaluation measure whether or not learning and/or learning objectives are being
met. One could look at assessment and evaluation as the journey (assessment) versus
the snapshot (evaluation). (Sue Watson, 2009) Assessment requires the gathering of
evidence of student performance over a period of time to measure learning and

additional two years of senior high school for all students. The President noted that
the Philippines is the only country in Asia and one of only three in the world two of
which are in Africa with a 10 year basic education program. How do Filipinos become
competitive if from the very beginning we are already at a disadvantage in the
number of years of studying and training? What we want is to give the next
generation a strong foundation. (Aquino, 2012) The curriculum of the K+12 program

Scapegoats In Germany
Overlooked Once, Adolf Hitler said, It s not the truth that matters, but victory.
Obviously, this quote shows that Hitler s mindset was directed towards winning, and
not his moral values. He made false accusations about the innocent Jews, killing over
six million of them. These false accusations were simple, repeated, and, eventually,
people believed it. The rise of Hitler and the Nazi Partyaffected how people viewed
the Jews at the time. To begin, events in Adolf Hitlers life lead to his viewpoints and
affiliations. Secondly, the creation of the Nazi Party was critical to the formation
of Germany s point of view. Lastly, Jewish people had been used as scapegoats for
the loss of World War I and Germany s economic crisis.

The Jews were considered to be less than. The Aryan race was the best and
strongest race. Jews were another inferior race. In fact so inferior that they were not
considered to be people by the Nazis. (Anne Frank Stichting) Another source, written
by Michael W. Kramer, reads According to Nazis, the Jews were engaged in a
conspiracy for world domination. Behind the scenes it was them who controlled
society and made Germans suffer. For Instance, the Germans thought that the Jews
had killed Christ and were responsible for large unfortunate events in Germany. These
accusations had always been floating around, and the Nazi Party had only increased
Jewish hate, however, Jewish antisemitism and their use as scapegoats had always
been around. For example, during the Black Death, the Jews were blamed for
poisoned the wells and being immune to the Black Death; unfortunately, the
scapegoating of Jews continued, changing people s ideas about the religion of
Judaism. In the analysis, Jews were blamed for several tragic events for Germany,

My Life At The Beach House
You might not know my name or who I am, but that is not important, my story is
important. I had a twin brother named Neels. He died in a car crash along with my
mother when I was only five years old. After my brothers and mother s death, my
father thought it would be geniality for us to move to a beach house, to get distances
from the memories. I still remember the house like it was just yesterday, baby blue
with special memories of my father and I.
That beach house brought great time but it also brought the worst times of my life.
Next door was an extremely large mansion, although there lived a very rich and
pretty lady named Mariana. The beach house belonged to the pretty lady, but was

I was about seven years old, I was sitting on the edge of the couch with my feet
dangling in the air looking up at my father enjoying him watch TV. We heard a
knock at the door. I looked at my father Who could have come so late to greet us I
asked my father.
Mr. Johnson: They didn t come to greet us, darling why don t, you head upstairs now
I: Daddy, why do I have to head upstairs?
Mr. Johnson: no response....
I knew I had to head upstairs because I never liked getting my father angry and he
always had his reasons. However, I didn t pay close attention; instead I hid beside
the stairs. I could hear my father talking to someone, though I couldn t see who my
father was talking to. Then I decided to head upstairs because whoever my father
was talking too was not important. It was just business related, but right as I was
leaving Mr. Mysteries guy said something that captured my attention. Mr. Johnson
, I had to see who that man was! The hint of my father being called Mr. Johnson
didn t even pop or imagine in my head at that time. All I got to see was half of his
face, he had a scar on his right eyebrow, and before Mr. Mystery s guy could leave I
heard something else, something about fake passports and ID s, although I didn t
understand why.

Sartre
Jean Paul Sartre was an existentialist French philosopher. In Being and Nothingness,
he writes that Man is a useless passion. Sartre reaches this conclusion because man
loses himself as man in order that God may be born. But the idea of God is
contradictory and we lose ourselves in vain. Sartre is saying that, through the
invention of God, man surrenders his freedom and individuality, and therefore, his
humanity. In Existentialismis a Humanism, Sartre elaborates on this by claiming that
humanity has no purpose and that there is no such thing as a human nature. In his
rejection of a perfect God, Sartre raises the significance of the imperfect individual
up to the empty space left in the absence of a divine master. Sartre asserts that... Show

This is despair, or a lack of hope. To hope would be pointless, because any factor
outside of the individual s own influence should not be of concern. There is no
God in Sartre s world, so there is no greater being that possesses the power to
influence these factors. Because of this, Sartre adopts a stance similar to that of
Epictetus, that one should only concern themselves with what is within his power to
influence. As Sartre writes that things will be what men have chosen them to be.
(Sartre, p 36). In this statement, Sartre both assigns responsibility to the human race
for its actions and the choices made each individual human and raises another
issue. If whatever will happen will happen, what is the purpose of trying to change
that which is within our power? Sartre recognizes this problem and addresses it
immediately by answering Man is nothing other than his own project. He exists only
in so far as he realizes himself, therefore he is nothing more than the sum of his
actions, nothing more than his life. (Sartre, p 37). In other words, action is the only
way for an individual to truly exist. If one submits himself to quietism and
complacency, he surrenders his humanity because he is surrendering his individuality
and the ownership of his thoughts to more powerful people. This is exactly the same
reason Sartre rejects the existence of a God and moves that man

Introduction
Osmosis is the movement (diffusion) of water across a semi permeable membrane
from a region of lower solute concentration to a region of higher solute concentration
to achieve equilibrium (Bonney, 2014). Although this function appears to be very
simple and habitual, all living organisms require osmosis to survive, as osmosis is a
key transport mechanism that allows for the absorption of vital ... Show more content

The concentration gradient will induce water molecules from a lower region of
solute concentration to displace to a higher region of solute concentration.
Ultimately, the volume of the more concentrated side grows after osmosis (K.
Lerner and B. Lerner, 2004). For example, if the cylinder of parsnip is placed into a
hypertonic (more concentrated) solution, the water molecules inside the cell will
displace out of the parsnip to dilute the saline solution; causing the parsnip to
plasmolyze and lose its mass (Bonney, 2014). Likewise, if the parsnip is placed in a
hypotonic (less concentrated) solution, a large volume of water will displace into the
parsnip in order to dilute the contents within the parsnip (Bonney, 2014). This large
intake of water causes the cylinder of parsnip to gain mass until it reaches the
maximum osmotic pressure (Bonney, 2014).
There are numerous important variables in this experiment that must be controlled in
order to achieve the most accurate results. Firstly, the temperature of the solution
must be maintained at a constant temperature of 22В°C. Higher temperatures cause
higher rates of osmosis (Nagel, 2002). Therefore, all trials must have solutions that
are maintained at the same temperature to ensure that they all have the same rate of
osmosis. This guarantees that the parsnip cylinders will increase by the same masses

The Importance Of Loneliness And Social Connection In...
Riding horseback, lounging in a carriage, travelling by train turned metro, through
all these years of industrial innovation humanity has needed social interaction. These
social interactions have gone from intimate gatherings, to newspapers, to social
networking, and people made advancements in ways to gather information faster
and in turn dealt away their social presence. Today, young adults throw themselves
into an alternate reality which many use to protect them from loneliness while it
drags others into remote depths. Imagine looking around during your day and at
any point you see no one. Not that no person is there, but nobody you can talk to.
The vice like grip inside you that strengthens with each passing body creates an
ache too strong to suppress. Much like a black hole that pulls you into nothingness.
Human connection is a valuable thing and helps keep a stable piece of mind.
Loneliness is that lack of human connection. This issue is important because of its
relation to the rising suicide rate. According to research presented at the 125th
Annual Convention of the American Psychological Association Loneliness and
social isolation might represent a greater public health hazard than obesity, and its
impact has been growing and will continue to grow. Being lonely is the start of a
downhill spiral and the effect of social interaction and rise of loneliness results in
suicides to escape enormous pain. The use of social networking has become an

How Does Fahrenheit 451 Affect Society
In Ray Bradbury s Fahrenheit 451 Montag starts off as seemingly normal as he
goes about his job, home life and inner conscious. As elements are introduced, it is
clear that psychologically he has been trained to think a certain way and live his
life as if it were written, or programmed. Ray Bradbury creates this world that
seems to promote sameness in Montag s society, and clearly discourages any
deviation of one s job or role in society. In the course of the story, Montag sinner
peace is interrupted when he encounters a woman named Clarisse on his way home
from work. From this moment, Montag is intrigued, and his inner psychological
consciousness is impacted in a way that will change the way he sees his role in
society, personal, professional, and even love life. His relationship with himself,
his wife Mildred, his boss Beatty, and his coworkers, and finally the most
impactful Clarisse. This affects Montag, and help him see his dystopian society
for what it truly is, and how he s been serving it. As he journey s through this, his
way of thinking changes and develops from a consciousness of a cold machine, to

The main product of KFC is made by chicken meat. Therefore, the strength and the

attracted by KFC. However, it gives customer who like fast food a limited choice.
Just use the one kind of meat will make the brand to be more professional. But it also

3. Value creation:
Value creation means increase the value of products, service and even business to
meet the customers needs and requirements so that they can get competitive
advantages. (Business Fundas, 2012) As we analyzed, fast food industry s threat of
new entrants is low and the availability of substitutes is high. It s a fare market which
the buyers have strong powers.
The main value created by Red Rooster is its intangible assets like brand loyalty
and goodwill. It s the only wholly Australian owned chicken brand which can meet
the local needs more and get more support from Australians. (Red Rooster, 2013)
Another value of Red Rooster is its health concept. It used oven roasted chicken
chain to make the benefits increase from 16% to 30% on the financial year.
(Frchanise business, 2006) Red Rooster reduces the 40% of fat absorption of the
chicken. (Matt Paish,2011) The health quality of food gives a huge competitive
advantage for Red Rooster. Besides, to create the value, some new and cheap
The Main Causes Of Industrialization In The United States
62. The main cause of the war was that the US wanted free and open trade with both
Great Britain and France but they war at war. France did not want America trading
with Britain and Britain did not want America trading with France. Another was the
impressments of American sailors into the British navy and involvement with Native
American unrest on the US frontier. This war was important because in it American
showed willingness to defend its interest by using war and military and it gave the
young nation respect from European powers.

Learning And Development Of Young Children
One of the most frightening words in caregiving is, curriculum, that word carries a

the textbook I realized that curriculum for infants and toddlers shouldn t scare me,

questions and their relevance, called scaffolding. Practice makes perfect and I am
trying to constantly pose relevant and considerate questions in order to further
expand thinking. Another form of respectful caregiving is simply being present, how
can I help a child approach and better understand their experiences if I m not

helping them understand mine. With some of the students at Miss. Kellies house a

they are saying I slowly repeat what they are trying to convey. The often look at my

Essay The Popularity of The Burns and Allen Show
Vaudeville was very popular from the late 1800s to the early 1900s in North
America. Vaudeville shows were made up of many random acts that were placed
together in a common play bill. Some acts were, for example, plays, clowns,
jugglers, comedians, etc. Once the radio was introduced, vaudeville s started to
become less popular as the radio s popularity started to increase. The radio started
out with maximum five programs but as the demand for radios increased so did the
amount of programs, which went up to almost 500. Radios was the place families
and friends gathered to hear the news, sporting events, music, entertainment, etc. One

When Allen heard about the break up between comedian partners Lorraine and Burns,
Allen decided to make a partnership between Lorraine. Confusing Burns for Lorraine,
Burns accepted but did not tell Allen the truth. Three days into their partnership,
Burns finally confessed to Allen about the mixing up of identities. However, Allen
vowed to try and succeed in the comedy business with Burns as a partner. Starting
out as vaudevillians, Burns and Allen performed in different theatres and later
signed a five year contract with Keith Theater. Being known as the most popular
acts in the United States, Allen was invited to be a guest star on the radio. When
CBS noticed how talented Burns and Allen were on the radio, CBS offered a

domestic situation comedy. Domestic situation comedy gave the audience a sneak
peek into Burns and Allen s private lives, while pretending to be themselves during
the performance. The Burns and Allen Show were soon in the top 5 shows, having
millions of listeners weekly. Burns and Allen would at times do things that would
really grab attention from the audience. For example, when she was looking for her

s disappearance. George was an accountant in San Francisco and was forced into

humanizing the situation and creating controversy. The Fifth, Eighth, and Fourteenth
Amendments were interpreted as permitting the death penalty, until the early 1960s,
when it was suggested that the death penalty was a cruel and unusual punishment,
and therefore arguing it as unconstitutional under the Eighth Amendment (Part...

Major Advantages Of Functional Behavioral Assessment
According to Raymond (2012), FBA is the process of gathering information about a
learner s behaviors in order to determine the purpose of a problem behavior in
addition to its antecedents and consequences . This process is for all students
regardless if they have a disability or not. Once the target behaviorhas been
implemented, a hypothesis can be developed and more effective behavioral
interventions can be designed and implemented, including PBIS. All data used to
create these implementations need to be recent...properly collected and interpreted .
In addition to our textbook s information, I also found this: Functional behavioral
assessment is a test that is meant for identifying the reason for behaviors displayed by
individuals with severe cognitive and communication problems. (...) The following
are key benefits gained from a functional behavioral assessment.
1.Offers a deeper insight
The major advantage of functional behavioral assessment is that it looks beyond all
the unsuitable behaviors themselves. In fact, the focus of this test is to classify the
social and environmental factors that are responsible for causing certain behaviors.
This wide perspective offers a deeper insight of the reason behind a person s
behavior. Hence, a functional behavioral assessment helps in explain the reasons why
someone behaves badly, which is very helpful when dealing with various problematic
behaviors.
2.Enhances child development
Most children can only communicate well
World War II And Its Impact On Japan
After World War II, new influences and ideals started to make an impact on Japan
like never before. Japan s defeat resulted in westernization, and the country started to
transform into what it is known for today modern manufacturing for countries all
over the world. Many traditionalists disapproved of this idea of transitioning into
being iconic for materialistic and bourgeois ideologies and now felt isolated within
their own country because their views were extremely different from the new views
generated from this change. Yukio Mishimas discomfort with Japan s conversion to
westernization, lack of military and political influence is evident as his main point
in The Sailor Who Fell from Grace with the Sea. Traditional Japanese beliefs had
been built off of the ideas of honor, death, and glory, and Mishima believed that, with
this transition into modern Japan, a so called lack of glory became prevalent.
Through the characters of Noboru and Ryuji, Mishima incorporates the theme of
alienation to highlight his own life experiences, feelings and disapproval during
Japan s transition to modernization.
Noboru s purpose as a character is to embody the effects of westernization on
traditional thinking. By constructing a peculiarly different lifestyle based upon
psychopathic misguidance, fears, hatred, confusion, and contrasting opinions within
his new family, Noboru alienates himself from the changing world around him. The
first cause to this change is through the

Learning And Ivan Pavlov s Discovery Of Classical...
Learning can be considered as the process by which skills; attitudes, knowledge and
concepts are acquired, understood and extended. While we learn some concepts and
ideas through instruction or teaching, we also learn through our feelings and
experiences and these feelings and experiences influence what we learn, how we
learn and why we learn, (www.egyankosh.ac.in). In order for us to plan and enable
learning we first must understand the theories and principles that underpin them.
During this essay I will examine some of these theories and endeavour to relate them
to my own teaching practice Behaviourists view the environment as the key to
learning and Ivan Pavlov s discovery of classical conditioning was fundamental to the
Behaviourists theory and came about from his famous experiments with dogs. Whilst
studying digestive processes, Pavlov noticed his canine subjects would begin to
salivate whenever an assistant entered the room, triggered by the sight of the
assistants white lab coat. The animals had come to associate them with the
presentation of food. He realized that this salivary response was not due to an
automatic, physiological process and suggested that it was a learned response. In
order to prove this hypothesis he carried out a number of experiments which entailed
firstly presenting the food to the animals and unconditional stimulus which made the
dogs salivate. He then introduced a ringing bell (conditional stimulus) before
presenting the food and gradually

Things Are, or Dr. Seuss s, Green Eggs and Ham, which portray distinct personality
traits within the main character and demonstrate evolution of self as the character
acquires knowledge from his or her life experience. Like the characters within our
favorite childhood books, each of us represents a malleable being whose shape can
transform through the beautiful manifestation of God s glory throughout our life
journey.
The bible provides countless examples of individuals with an incredible moral
foreground on which a sovereign God casts influence upon the body of Christ, from
the metamorphosis of the apostle Peter to Jesus the Messiah, yet God himself remains
the ultimate testament of character. The immaculate nature of God can be seen
within the following excerpt from the book of Exodus,
As he passed in front of Moses, he called out. He said, I am the LORD, the LORD.
I am the God who is tender and kind. I am gracious. I am slow to get angry. I am
faithful and full of love. I continue to show my love to thousands of people. I
forgive those who do evil. I forgive those who refuse to obey me. And I forgive those
who sin. But I do not let guilty people go without punishing them. I cause
Advertising And Self Esteem
Consumers deal with advertisement every single day and it reflects every aspect of
life, needs, and desires. According to Statista Inc. an internet statistic company,
United States was the world s largest advertising market in 2016, with more than 190
billion U.S. dollars were spent in advertising followed by China and Japan. The
presence and influence of advertisingis inevitable. It spread through thousands of
channels like internet, television, radio, magazines, newspaper, and etc. Statistics
from MarketingSherpa a research firm shows printed advertisement like newspaper
and magazines are most trusted channel of all following by television and catalogs
advertising. Regardless of these advertising channels, ones might not realize that
these ads are actually affecting their self esteem. On the contrary, self esteem reflects
the confidence of a person and its worth in every aspect of their life. A good
advertisement and a person self esteem seems not relates to one another, however as
it go deeper, it certainly influence an individual psychologically or even the society
at large. Depending on what type of ads viewed, it might affectthe person thinking or
even the subsequent actions. It can reflect their motivations and lead to a certain
actions towards achieving specific desire. Often, a good advertising will have a
positive impact on person self esteem and the society. From the side of the business,
good advertisement shows the company good reputation and business ethical
Medical Marijuana Legalization
Global Impact of the Legalization of Medical Marijuana
Medical marijuana has become an extreme controversy for many different countries
around the world. According to the National Conference of State Legislation, twenty
nine states in the United States have legalized medical marijuana, (State) along with
select countries around the world. Different regions of the world have varying views
and laws for medical cannabis. Medical marijuana can drastically improve the
quality of ill people s lives, and ease pain that otherwise make daily life miserable.
According to two well known professors at University of Salerno, cannabis has been
used to relieve chronic pain, muscular cramps and neurological or spinal pains
(Bifulco and Pisanti). Although medical marijuana s purpose would be to alleviate
pain, some are concerned that it could be a gateway drug, which means it could
potentially lead people to become addicted to stronger substances.
California was the first state in the United States to pass laws making medical
marijuana legal. As of 2017, thirty three American states or territories have passed
similar laws regarding cannabis, leaving twenty three states with the illegalization of
medical marijuana (State). Other countries within North America have also made
medical marijuana legal, including Canada. According to Canada s government
website, medical marijuana has been legal since 2001 (Marihuana). Rob Nikolewski,
a writer for the San Diego Union Tribune, explains that

Medvec and colleagues set up the hypothesis that man can be ashamed to the extent
of committing suicide just because they have come in second placed. The fact of
defeating the others and being defeated by a single individual is what makes a
person so devastated to the extent of committing suicide. Johnson (1986) observes
that a person s achievements often matter less than how they have not been able to
accomplish their objectives. He further states that being the one of the best in the
world has a lesser meaning if there is a person who is better than you. The variables
of the study are the person s expectations and personal satisfaction of the
people.Kahneman Miller, (1986) say that the people s objective and the subsequent
outcomes affect the functionality of the person. The intensity of the reaction of the
people to particular events is directly proportional to the greater or lesser outcomes.
The researchers took the perfect scenario from the athletes where thewinner is

runner s up is awarded the bronze medal. To many the one with the silver medal is
better offthan the one with the bronze medal. However James (1892) notes that the
one who has a bronze medal is more satisfied than the one awarded the silver medal.
This is because the runner s up is not satisfied with the outcome of the race and

Technological Advancements Of The 21st Century
Technological advancements of the 21st century have had a profound impact on
the way business is conducted throughout the world today. Human Resources, has
in fact reinvented the way everything is done. The internet has allowed individuals,
at any point in time, to have access to accurate, real time information at our
fingertips. This has spurred higher productivity rates in almost all aspects of
business. Prior to technology being used in Human Resources, job applicants were
required to physically come into a staffing agency, or place of business, obtain an
application, fill it out, and wait for a call. Multiple interviews were often required
if testing were to be done. However, due to the waiting period of receiving testing
results, it resulted in longer periods of time to complete paperwork and record
keeping, an aspect which used to consume all aspects of ones job. In many cases,
state and federal guidelines require records to be stored for a certain amount of
time, even after an employee is terminated. With the internet now being used in all
aspects of Human Resources, anyone can apply to almost all job openings
electronically. The businesses themselves can also search through thousands of
applicants and hand pick who they would like to interview. Not only does this
streamline the application process, it allows business owners to be more selective in
who they choose in order to keep their turnover rates low. Once the applicant is hired,

Workplace Harassment In The Workplace
Workplace harassment is best defined as hostile demands or intimidation that can
cause employees to suddenly detach from others, decrease work quality, and result
in psychological and physical destruction (Walsh, 2013). According to the text,
abolishing harassment is one of the most pressing legal concerns challenging
employers today (Walsh, 2013). Furthermore, in order for a workplace harassment
to be deemed as so, both parties involved have to be employed by the same
employer (Gidro Gidro, 2016). Needless to say, harassment is another form of
inequality. In this case scenario, the plaintiff Varner, was a seventeen year old floral
employee at National Super Market (Walsh, 2013). One of her co workers was
Robert Edmiston, a fifty one year old, who worked in the produce department. In the
spring of 1991, Edmiston started making sexual advancements, graphic sexual
comments, and showing pornography to her (Walsh, 2013). At first, none of the
sexual harassmentwas physical, until July or August of 1991. Allegedly, Edmiston
approached her from behind, reached his arms beneath Varner s arm, and began to
squeeze her breast (Walsh, 2013). Fortunately, she was able to free herself from him
and ran. Varner did not report the incident to anyone, finished her shift, and went
home. When she got home, she called her fiancГ© Chris Pilch, who also worked at
National. Pilch immediately called Curtis Mason, the store manager, and informed
him of the incident involving
Analysis Of Miss Emily Grierson In A Rose For Emily By...
In A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner, Miss Emily Grierson goes through a lot
of grief. Her father and sweetheart, Homer Barron, died only within a few years
apart and this caused her whole world to be turned upside down (323 327). There
is some debate as to whether Miss Emily killed her sweetheart or not. When her
father died, she was not willing to give up his body to be buried. Later, they found
the body of Homer in her house and the town had no clue he had even passed away.
According to Cornell Law School, the definition of first degree murderis the
intentional killing of another person with planning involved. Miss Emily is guilty
of first degree murder because of the smell that came from her house, the poison
she purchased from the druggist, and the possibility Homer was only interested in
men. At one point in the story, Faulkner writes about a smell that accumulates from
Miss Emily s house. According to the story, two years after her father s death and a
short time after her sweetheart had deserted her is when the smell first developed
(324). The mayor received multiple complaints about the smell but he didn t want
to confront Miss Emily about it because she was a high and mighty Grierson (324).
He just assumed that the smell was just a rat or a snake that nigger of hers killed in
the yard (324). The smell could be a sign of guilt because Miss Emily had to know
that Homer s body was creating an intense odor. She had to know because she was

information show that if International students feel alone or missing home problem,
they will distressful with their study and therefore they can t study well at school. At
this time, they can go to the school center for help. The author, Lee(2013) indicates
that most school have the counseling service in the school center, this service is
special for the international students who have difficulties in adjusting with the new
environment and feel homesick and can t have a good life in the university. After
counseling with tutor, students feel better because tutors comfort them. After
comforting by tutors, they can focus on their academic study because they will not
remember the homesick or the difficulties in American.
Secondly, International students should go to the Learning Writing Center if they

Wireless Based Third Generation ( 3g ) Wireless Network
UMTS BASED third generation (3G) cellular network can be seen operating
working in many of the countries across the globe. The 3G networks offer a
substantial increase in the capacity for data and voice communications compared
to the 2G or 2.5G networks. The 3G networks are built on WCDMA. HSDPA [2] is
an updated version of Release 99 versions of the 3G networks, providing as high as
possible downlink speed of 10 Mbps. We will be going to examine 3G network
capacity and delay performances of IP based applications on 3G and HSDPA
networks. Extensive efforts are being taken to find the high no. of users that CDMA
based systems can support while maintaining the desired quality of service for
everyone [3], [4]. But these are more useful for preliminary capacity approximation
and network planning purposes. There have been a measurement studies on 3G
networks but are mainly focused on the performance of pure data traffic under lightly
loaded or controlled environments [9]. Another study [14] was done which separately
measured the voice and data call capacities of an experimental 3G network. However,
the measurements were conducted in a fully controlled environment, where the
network configuration consisted of only one cell, with the admission control
disabled. The study describes the performance of live 3G networks under saturated
conditions by usage of data, video, and voice traffic. Field measurements were
conducted on three commercial 3G networks in Hong Kong with the

History And The United States
The history of journalism in the United States has spanned from the first colonist
crossing the Atlantic Ocean to today s mass media. Even before we were a country
we had printers and journalists writing and printing stories for the people. Looking
back, we can divide journalism history into different time periods and see how
news reporting developed over time. Some of these time periods include the
Colonial Period which spanned from when the first Pilgrims came to America in
the mid 1600 s till the 1760 s. Other periods include the Revolution period which
picked up from the colonial period till the early 1780 s. The period of Westward
Expansion lasted from the 1800 to the 1830 s, then there was the Civil WarPeriod
which spanned from the 1840 s till the 1860 s. Finally, the Interpretative Period
which lasted from 1930 s and continues to today. Looking back at these time
periods we can see what was considered news and what was newsworthy , the
dominate issues of the periods, and how far we have come as a society from those
issues. The Colonial Period was the beginning of not only out country, but also the
beginning of our system of journalism. The colonial period dates back to the first
settlers sailing over the Atlantic in search of religious and political freedom from
their oppressors in Europe. The people during this time had a small definition for
what they considered dominate news. In this time period, most of the colonies had
yet to be settled, and news only
The Meaning Of The Heart By Edgar Allan Poe
In the beginning of the story, the mood is dark, mysterious, and gloomy. Poe
creates this mood through diction by describing the deterioration and atmosphere
of the house. The landscape is described with words and phrases such as dull , dark
, sickening of the heart , and insufferable gloom (1) that depict the surroundings to
be eerie and depressing. The ancient family displays themselves in the work of art.
They are wealthy, well educated, reserved, and isolated. They have an interest in
art, musical science, reading, and are decorative. The entire family is known for
[laying] in the direct descent, and had...very temporary variation (3) which means
that they practice incest. They all have the same blood and have not married out
of their family tree for many generations. When Roderick was a boy, he had a
cadaverous complexion, a delicate nose, soft hair, and an luminous vibe to him.
Poe uses looks to describe him. Roderick now has the appearance of a ghastly
pallor of the skin...[and] silken hair, too, had been suffered to grow all unheeded
(8) which shows the transformation of Roderick due to his illness and depression.
Roderick can be described as malnourished, hypersensitive, crazy, and sad due to
his sister s illness. In the poem, the palace is being described as happy, joyful, and
contains vivid colors. Later, on the palace gets corrupted with evil and it becomes an
empty place of despair. Due to Roderick and the house falling apart Many books...

The Steps Of Discipleship In Dave s Beloved
Now that the steps of discipleship have been explained, here are some
characteristics that should be evident in the life of someone who has been
discipled. Let s call him disciple Dave. Dave is someone who is Gospel focused.
Dave loves the Lord more than he loves himself, and he understands the core truths of
the gospeland can explain these truths to others. He does not necessarily know all
the finer points of theology, but he understands the gospel in a ways that impacts his
life. Dave is a good steward of his time, and he uses it wisely by involving himself in
his community. Dave s friendships with Christians are intentional, and he works to
bring them closer to Christ. His relationships with non Christians are intentional, and

However, many people pray about problems reactively instead of proactively,
because they are suddenly in a crisis that they need God to fix. If a church realizes
that it will have to close their doors in the next year because of a lack of funds, this
is not the first time that this problem came to light. The time to pray is not when
people realize that there is a problem, but before there is a problem. We should not
expect God to suddenly answer our prayers at the beckoning of our call, simply
because we have a problem that needs to be fixed. God can speak to people in
multiple ways, but it is not wise to rely on divine intervention for major decisions
of the church. God put people on earth for a reason, because it is not good that man
should be alone. If a church is going to close its doors within a year, they probably
should have been praying beforehand about the health of the church, and should have
been more open to change in the church. Too many churches die because people will
let that church die before they change their own stubbornness. In prayer, people must
call early, often, and before problems happen so that issues can be fixed before the
integrity of the church is
Marching Band Traditions Never Change
Some Traditions Never Change
Marching band is a culture that many people in the world participate in whether they
re in high school or college. Members of any marching bands share characteristics
such as hard work, the strength to keep going when things are hard and to stay calm
under pressure. Power is distributed in the group from the marching band director to
the drum major and to the section leader. Many people think marching band is
something anybody could do with ease, but we practice day to day, which means
we practice two hours and five minutes to learn the show. The common nickname is
being called band nerds which I think is fitting because we live for it. Band is more
than a hobby it s a sport because of all the time we practice. ... Show more content on

Besides Hawaii I would probably rate band camp as one of the best things about
being in the marching band. At band camp, I created memories that will last a
lifetime form doing our last eight to five marches as a senior class to the bonfire
for the seniors and listening to all the stories past down from previous groups. The
first thing we do when we get to band camp is go over the agenda for the year and
the songs we will play including the run on and pregame activities. Next, we go to
our first practice which was from six to nine just to refresh on the basic eight to
five and so on. As a section leader this is important because you want to make sure
that your section is stepping and landing with the right foot. Through many late
nights playing cards with the chaperones getting up at seven isn t always the
easiest. Were lucky enough to have great cooks at the camp. Being seniors, we get
to pick the meals and the desserts they make. Thirdly, it is usually very hot for
band camp, meaning that we get lots of water breaks, but that means we also get
ice pops. As a band we try to learn the show in three to four days and learn the run
on by that Friday. When Saturday rolls around seniors take their last look around
and take one last run through the show to clean up any little mistakes. When we get
back from the camp we perform for the whole town on what we learned. I probably
miss band camp the most out of all the high school activities I participated in. I was
lucky enough to be able to do this opportunity for all four years of my high school
Fur Trading Research Paper
Fur Trading and Converting The first groups of French to arrive to the Americas were
both the French fur traders, and often accompanying them or close behind on their

their souls. This occasionally led to conflict, but sometimes unity amongst the New

The traders brought with them many helpful tools, but they also brought diseases,

opinion of most Natives, but often they turned to them for help as they were so
horrified with the amount of deaths from diseases. The two European groups often

either group and slaughter them. In the end, the natives both benefitted from the

  • 2. The Mortgage Crisis Of 2007 The mortgage crisis of 2007 marked catastrophe for millions of homeowners who suffered from foreclosure and short sales. Most of the problems involving the foreclosing of families homes could boil down to risky borrowing and lending. Lenders were pushed to ensure families would be eligible for a loan, when in previous years the same families would have been deemed too high risk to obtain any kind of loan. With the increase in high risk families obtaining loans, there was a huge increase in home buyers and subsequently a rapid increase in home prices. As a result, prices peaked and then began falling just as fast as they rose. Soon after families began to default on their mortgages forcing them either into foreclosureor short sales. Who was to blame for the risky lending and borrowing that caused the mortgagemeltdown? Many might blame the company Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, but in reality the entire system of buying and selling and free market failed home owners and the housing economy. However, hope might be on the horizon for the victims of the mortgage disaster of 2007/2008. Home buyers who were foreclosed upon years ago, or boomerang buyers, are beginning to be eligible to buy homes again. While some feel hope after feeling bamboozled by lenders and Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, some feel anxious and fearful of the thought of buying again. Yet there are lessons that have been learned by the mortgage meltdown. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac provided a lesson for the
  • 3. Turbidity Of Water Discussion Environmental factors: The mean values of selected analytical water quality parameters, among the four seasons from April 2015 to February 2016, revealed that generally most selected physico chemical properties (Temp., pH, E.C., Ak., Turb., T. hard., D.O, B.O.D, NO3, NO2, NH3, Cl ) of water samples were within permissible limit (WHO 2004). In the current study, water temperature was the maximum during summer and the minimum was during winter, where both are within the normal range for growth of aquatic organisms, as the Temp. directly affected aquatic organisms as well as other physico chemical characteristic (Turker et al. 2003). Furthermore, the correlation analysis clarified that temperature is only positively correlated... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 2012). The Dissolved oxygen (D.O), the most important abiotic factor influencing any aquatic ecosystem, obtained from atmosphere and photosynthesis, its depletion is due to manifestation of pollution, respiration and decomposition of dead decaying sediment (Payakka Prommi 2014). In this study D.O were within normal range according to WHO (2004), except in summer was somewhat low. There is evidence that, oxygen concentrations showed a seasonal fluctuation, agreed with our results, as elevation of water temperature in summer leads to the decrease of the solubility of oxygen gas (Abdel Hamid et al. 1992, Ueda et al. 2000). Moreover, an inverse correlation detected in this study between D.O against temperature and pH approved the results of Popoola Otalekor (2011), where high temperature is positively correlated with increased respiration (Co2) that lead subsequently to decreased pH and definitely decreasing D.O. The extreme value of Biological oxygen demand (B.O.D) attained during summer but the least was during winter, on contradictory to D.O values, confirming negative correlation between them that consisted in findings of Paparisto et al. (2012). It varied between 1.0 3.0 mg/L and so according to Vowels Connel (1980) classification of streams based on their B.O.D, confirmed that this stream is moderately polluted ( 1 9 mg/L). The novel Life of Pi written by Yann Martel, has employed a lot of symbols that is related to the life. One of the most significant symbols is the color orange. The author uses orange as a symbol of maintenance of the spirit to survive in survival. This can be proved as most of the objects that are in the color orange in the novel generate feelings of hope, can develop courage in survivors, and last but not least can keep them continuously energetic; in order to strengthen their hearts and spirits to face all the possibilities in life. Although Orange Juice is just a weak animal that never haunt any animal and just love to eat fruits, however, her courage overpowers her ability. As Pi monologue, an adult female orang utan cannot defeat an adult male spotted hyena... What does fruit eater know about killing? Where would it learn where to bite, how hard, for how long? (Martel 130). This is something amazeing as the orang utan is very brave to face the hyena. One of the reasons why Pi called the female orang utan as Orange Juice is because the orange animals do represent the courage in an animal. On top of that, Richard Parker the Bengal tiger also represent courage in an orange animal as he is being scared by the hyena. The flame colored carnivore emerged from beneath the tarpaulin and made for the hyena. The hyena was leaning against the stern bench, behind the zebra s carcass, transfixed. It did not pull a fight. Instead it shrank to the floor, lifting a forepaw in a futile gesture of defense, shows that the hyena was afraid of the orange Bengal tiger that look fierce on him (Martel 150). This is how the Bengal tiger stay to survive in the lifeboat on the spooky ocean. Therefore, it is true that orange is the color of courage; and this can spread up the spirit of survival to promote the important of life. In order to maintain the spirit of survival, energy is very important both physically and emotionally,

Houses of worship have similarities and differences which are evident in the landscape that are reflective of their similarities and differences in beliefs. I found that of all the houses of worship we visited on our field trip, St. Michael s Antiochian Orthodox Churchand St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church seemed to be strikingly similar yet different. God is the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Father refers to God s role as the creator of the world. The Son refers to Jesus. Finally, the Holy Spirit, they believe, enters people s souls during their daily lives. Another similarity is that holding reverence for the saints plays a central role in the spiritual lives of Roman Catholics and Eastern Orthodox Catholics. The physical representation of the saints tends to take different forms, however. Roman Catholics usually use statutes to represent their saints, as evident in St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church; meanwhile, Orthodox Catholics more often use paintings to represent their saints, as evident at St. Michael s Antiochian Orthodox Church. Another difference between the two is that for Roman Catholics there is a procedure for choosing officially sanctioned saints. This process does not exist in the Orthodox community. The central doctrinal divide between the two Christian churches concerns the Pope and his supremacy. Roman Catholics believe the Pope is the living embodiment of Jesus. He is then, in their opinion, the head of the entire Christian religion. Eastern Orthodox Catholics view the Pope as the head of Christianity in Rome, a geographical

The major shove of the victim related amendments were on defining victim and recasting existing defunct laws related to the provision of compensation to victims. To leave the provision of compensation to the sole discretion of the judge, unfortunately becomes the major myth of the recent law. Every business could learn something from Lincoln s golden rule; job security. This company not only survived during the depressions it thrived. How did it thrive? Because of their core value, job security (after one year, each employee is guaranteed he will not be discharged except for misconduct and is guaranteed at least 30 hours of work each week) meant the trying times of the nation did not affect the employees of The Lincoln Company. Their employees were spared the stress and concern of job loss which during a depression was of course prevalent. Eliminating that fear alone allowed employees to operate more efficiently. At the Lincoln Company performance appraisal is very important to the founders. They believe fulfilling customer needs always comes first and to continually fulfill customer needs employee performance is a necessity. Therefore the performance appraisal system allows the company to assess employee output and award the employee based on the work they put in. Since this method is clearly communicated to employees they are incentivized to work harder; thus, the end goal of fulfilling customer needs happens more naturally. Communication is key in any organization and the Lincoln Company has been very successful with communication. All job descriptions are clear and the hierarchy within the organization is clearly defined. By defined, I mean, the company has never had a

The phylogeny started off with Proconsul heseloni as the common ancestor to Sivapithecus indicus, Australopithecus afarensis, and Australopithecus Africanus. The reasoning for this was from the approximated age of Proconsul heseloni of 23 million years ago. This places Sivapithecus indicus roughly 15 million years after, suggesting that Sivapithecus indicus directly evolved from Proconsul heseloni. From Proconsul heseloni, it was decided that three species evolved from it. These species included A. A. afarensis, A. africanus and Sivapithecus indicus. Sivapithecus indicus was branched off the early human evolutionary line as the characteristics from the dentation and skull characteristics differed from that of A. afarensis and A. africanus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This difference can be used to infer that they lived in different areas of the world as it can be assumed that the diets of the two were unalike, explaining the dissimilarity of the canine size. As it is inferred that the two species lived in different regions of the world, it can be assumed that they co existed at the same time period. Homo habilis followed A. africanus indicating that A. africanus was a direct ancestor of H. habilis. The reasoning for this included the brain weight and body weight of the H. habilis slightly increased from that of A. africanus. As there was a general increase the overall brain to body weight ratio, indicating that there was an increase in the overall body weight of the two. Homo erectus was branched off after H. habilis as the justification for this was from the muzzle angles of the different species. As H. erectus had a muzzle angle of 107В° it was decided that it was reasonable to assume that H. erectus evolved from H. habilis. However, in the overall positioning of the phylogeny, it was placed on a side branch off H. habilis. This reasoning for this was that if H. erectus was placed on the main evolutionary line to evolve from H. ergaster, the muzzle angles from H. ergaster, H. erectus, and Homo neaderthalensis would increase then decrease. It would not be logical to place H. erectus on the main evolutionary line. Further justification that H. erectus was not a direct ancestor

  • 15. Sexual Assault And The Forms Of Sex Offenders Essay There is a growing problem with crime in the United States, but the one that is unique in its own way is sexual assault and the varieties of sex offenders that engage in those activities. A sex offender is anyone who commits a crime that involves any sexual act. Statistical data like risk assessment can help minimize and prevent some crimes that involve a sex offender. Risk assessment is defined as the probable threat that includes an action that involves a specific activity. In this case, the risk assessment would define sex offenders and the probable statistics that a sex offender would commit another sexual offense. Risk assessments formed to counter the various crimes that are disconcerting in the United States. Statistical data can also prove the growing problem that sex offenders pose to the country. Treatments and preventions have evolved to combat the sex offenders of our time since the offenders are constantly changing with the environment and technology around us. Sexual assaults can affect anyone at any time no matter what gender, race, or disability a person has. There are numerous classifications for sex offenders and different guidelines to what classifies that specific offender in that category. Correspondingly, citizens have the risk to classify as a sex offender for example, if the person was drunk and urinating in a park at night. Not all sex offenders committed a violent sexual crime, but the majority of convicted sex offenders had multiple offenses

I have always loved animals and been eager to learn more about them. The only problem is they are being locked up and stared at all day for our enjoyment. In today s world animal captivityis a problem and it should be solved using humane sanctuaries and education to the public and people caring for these animals. In denotative terms, a zoois a collection of living animals usually for public display. This relatively simple definition gives no indication of the implications a zoo has for animals confined to their cages. Very few federal laws protect the millions of wild animals who live in captivity in aquariums, circuses, theme parks, and zoos in the U.S. On the federal level, the Animal WelfareAct (AWA) is the only statute that protects the welfare of individual zoo animals. Under the AWA, animals, in the custody of a dealer or exhibitor are protected by regulations governing their care, handling, and transport. All cold blooded animals are excluded from the Act s definition of animal. The Act gives power to the Secretary of Agriculture, whose power is further delegated to the Animal Plant

  • 22. Sartre Jean Paul Sartre was an existentialist French philosopher. In Being and Nothingness, he writes that Man is a useless passion. Sartre reaches this conclusion because man loses himself as man in order that God may be born. But the idea of God is contradictory and we lose ourselves in vain. Sartre is saying that, through the invention of God, man surrenders his freedom and individuality, and therefore, his humanity. In Existentialismis a Humanism, Sartre elaborates on this by claiming that humanity has no purpose and that there is no such thing as a human nature. In his rejection of a perfect God, Sartre raises the significance of the imperfect individual up to the empty space left in the absence of a divine master. Sartre asserts that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is despair, or a lack of hope. To hope would be pointless, because any factor outside of the individual s own influence should not be of concern. There is no God in Sartre s world, so there is no greater being that possesses the power to influence these factors. Because of this, Sartre adopts a stance similar to that of Epictetus, that one should only concern themselves with what is within his power to influence. As Sartre writes that things will be what men have chosen them to be. (Sartre, p 36). In this statement, Sartre both assigns responsibility to the human race for its actions and the choices made each individual human and raises another issue. If whatever will happen will happen, what is the purpose of trying to change that which is within our power? Sartre recognizes this problem and addresses it immediately by answering Man is nothing other than his own project. He exists only in so far as he realizes himself, therefore he is nothing more than the sum of his actions, nothing more than his life. (Sartre, p 37). In other words, action is the only way for an individual to truly exist. If one submits himself to quietism and complacency, he surrenders his humanity because he is surrendering his individuality and the ownership of his thoughts to more powerful people. This is exactly the same reason Sartre rejects the existence of a God and moves that man

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The concentration gradient will induce water molecules from a lower region of solute concentration to displace to a higher region of solute concentration. Ultimately, the volume of the more concentrated side grows after osmosis (K. Lerner and B. Lerner, 2004). For example, if the cylinder of parsnip is placed into a hypertonic (more concentrated) solution, the water molecules inside the cell will displace out of the parsnip to dilute the saline solution; causing the parsnip to plasmolyze and lose its mass (Bonney, 2014). Likewise, if the parsnip is placed in a hypotonic (less concentrated) solution, a large volume of water will displace into the parsnip in order to dilute the contents within the parsnip (Bonney, 2014). This large intake of water causes the cylinder of parsnip to gain mass until it reaches the maximum osmotic pressure (Bonney, 2014). There are numerous important variables in this experiment that must be controlled in order to achieve the most accurate results. Firstly, the temperature of the solution must be maintained at a constant temperature of 22В°C. Higher temperatures cause higher rates of osmosis (Nagel, 2002). Therefore, all trials must have solutions that are maintained at the same temperature to ensure that they all have the same rate of osmosis. This guarantees that the parsnip cylinders will increase by the same masses relative to the

In addition to our textbook s information, I also found this: Functional behavioral assessment is a test that is meant for identifying the reason for behaviors displayed by individuals with severe cognitive and communication problems. The following are key benefits gained from a functional behavioral assessment. 1.Offers a deeper insight The major advantage of functional behavioral assessment is that it looks beyond all the unsuitable behaviors themselves. In fact, the focus of this test is to classify the social and environmental factors that are responsible for causing certain behaviors. This wide perspective offers a deeper insight of the reason behind a person s behavior. Hence, a functional behavioral assessment helps in explain the reasons why someone behaves badly, which is very helpful when dealing with various problematic behaviors. 2.Enhances child development Most children can only communicate well

Traditional Japanese beliefs had been built off of the ideas of honor, death, and glory, and Mishima believed that, with this transition into modern Japan, a so called lack of glory became prevalent. Through the characters of Noboru and Ryuji, Mishima incorporates the theme of alienation to highlight his own life experiences, feelings and disapproval during Japan s transition to modernization. Noboru s purpose as a character is to embody the effects of westernization on traditional thinking. By constructing a peculiarly different lifestyle based upon psychopathic misguidance, fears, hatred, confusion, and contrasting opinions within his new family, Noboru alienates himself from the changing world around him. While we learn some concepts and ideas through instruction or teaching, we also learn through our feelings and experiences and these feelings and experiences influence what we learn, how we learn and why we learn, (www.egyankosh.ac.in). In order for us to plan and enable learning we first must understand the theories and principles that underpin them. During this essay I will examine some of these theories and endeavour to relate them to my own teaching practice Behaviourists view the environment as the key to learning and Ivan Pavlov s discovery of classical conditioning was fundamental to the Behaviourists theory and came about from his famous experiments with dogs. Whilst studying digestive processes, Pavlov noticed his canine subjects would begin to salivate whenever an assistant entered the room, triggered by the sight of the assistants white lab coat. The animals had come to associate them with the presentation of food. He realized that this salivary response was not due to an automatic, physiological process and suggested that it was a learned response. In order to prove this hypothesis he carried out a number of experiments which entailed firstly presenting the food to the animals and unconditional stimulus which made the dogs salivate. He then introduced a ringing bell (conditional stimulus) before presenting the food and gradually

The bible provides countless examples of individuals with an incredible moral foreground on which a sovereign God casts influence upon the body of Christ, from the metamorphosis of the apostle Peter to Jesus the Messiah, yet God himself remains the ultimate testament of character. The immaculate nature of God can be seen within the following excerpt from the book of Exodus, As he passed in front of Moses, he called out. He said, I am the LORD, the LORD. • 49. History And The United States The history of journalism in the United States has spanned from the first colonist crossing the Atlantic Ocean to today s mass media. Even before we were a country we had printers and journalists writing and printing stories for the people. Looking back, we can divide journalism history into different time periods and see how news reporting developed over time. Some of these time periods include the Colonial Period which spanned from when the first Pilgrims came to America in the mid 1600 s till the 1760 s. Other periods include the Revolution period which picked up from the colonial period till the early 1780 s. The period of Westward Expansion lasted from the 1800 to the 1830 s, then there was the Civil WarPeriod which spanned from the 1840 s till the 1860 s. Finally, the Interpretative Period which lasted from 1930 s and continues to today. Looking back at these time periods we can see what was considered news and what was newsworthy , the dominate issues of the periods, and how far we have come as a society from those issues. The Colonial Period was the beginning of not only out country, but also the beginning of our system of journalism. The colonial period dates back to the first settlers sailing over the Atlantic in search of religious and political freedom from their oppressors in Europe. The people during this time had a small definition for what they considered dominate news. In this time period, most of the colonies had yet to be settled, and news only
  • 50. The Meaning Of The Heart By Edgar Allan Poe In the beginning of the story, the mood is dark, mysterious, and gloomy. Poe creates this mood through diction by describing the deterioration and atmosphere of the house. The landscape is described with words and phrases such as dull , dark , sickening of the heart , and insufferable gloom (1) that depict the surroundings to be eerie and depressing. The ancient family displays themselves in the work of art. They are wealthy, well educated, reserved, and isolated. They have an interest in art, musical science, reading, and are decorative. The entire family is known for [laying] in the direct descent, and had...very temporary variation (3) which means that they practice incest. They all have the same blood and have not married out of their family tree for many generations. When Roderick was a boy, he had a cadaverous complexion, a delicate nose, soft hair, and an luminous vibe to him. Poe uses looks to describe him. Roderick now has the appearance of a ghastly pallor of the skin...[and] silken hair, too, had been suffered to grow all unheeded (8) which shows the transformation of Roderick due to his illness and depression. Roderick can be described as malnourished, hypersensitive, crazy, and sad due to his sister s illness. In the poem, the palace is being described as happy, joyful, and contains vivid colors. Later, on the palace gets corrupted with evil and it becomes an empty place of despair. Due to Roderick and the house falling apart Many books... lay scattered
  • 51. The Steps Of Discipleship In Dave s Beloved Now that the steps of discipleship have been explained, here are some characteristics that should be evident in the life of someone who has been discipled. Let s call him disciple Dave. Dave is someone who is Gospel focused. Dave loves the Lord more than he loves himself, and he understands the core truths of the gospeland can explain these truths to others. He does not necessarily know all the finer points of theology, but he understands the gospel in a ways that impacts his life. Dave is a good steward of his time, and he uses it wisely by involving himself in his community. Dave s friendships with Christians are intentional, and he works to bring them closer to Christ. His relationships with non Christians are intentional, and he models... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, many people pray about problems reactively instead of proactively, because they are suddenly in a crisis that they need God to fix. If a church realizes that it will have to close their doors in the next year because of a lack of funds, this is not the first time that this problem came to light. The time to pray is not when people realize that there is a problem, but before there is a problem. We should not expect God to suddenly answer our prayers at the beckoning of our call, simply because we have a problem that needs to be fixed. God can speak to people in multiple ways, but it is not wise to rely on divine intervention for major decisions of the church. God put people on earth for a reason, because it is not good that man should be alone. If a church is going to close its doors within a year, they probably should have been praying beforehand about the health of the church, and should have been more open to change in the church. Too many churches die because people will let that church die before they change their own stubbornness. In prayer, people must call early, often, and before problems happen so that issues can be fixed before the integrity of the church is
  • 52. Marching Band Traditions Never Change Some Traditions Never Change Marching band is a culture that many people in the world participate in whether they re in high school or college. Members of any marching bands share characteristics such as hard work, the strength to keep going when things are hard and to stay calm under pressure. Power is distributed in the group from the marching band director to the drum major and to the section leader. Many people think marching band is something anybody could do with ease, but we practice day to day, which means we practice two hours and five minutes to learn the show. The common nickname is being called band nerds which I think is fitting because we live for it. Band is more than a hobby it s a sport because of all the time we practice. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Besides Hawaii I would probably rate band camp as one of the best things about being in the marching band. At band camp, I created memories that will last a lifetime form doing our last eight to five marches as a senior class to the bonfire for the seniors and listening to all the stories past down from previous groups. The first thing we do when we get to band camp is go over the agenda for the year and the songs we will play including the run on and pregame activities. Next, we go to our first practice which was from six to nine just to refresh on the basic eight to five and so on. As a section leader this is important because you want to make sure that your section is stepping and landing with the right foot. Through many late nights playing cards with the chaperones getting up at seven isn t always the easiest. Were lucky enough to have great cooks at the camp. Being seniors, we get to pick the meals and the desserts they make. Thirdly, it is usually very hot for band camp, meaning that we get lots of water breaks, but that means we also get ice pops. As a band we try to learn the show in three to four days and learn the run on by that Friday. When Saturday rolls around seniors take their last look around and take one last run through the show to clean up any little mistakes. When we get back from the camp we perform for the whole town on what we learned. I probably miss band camp the most out of all the high school activities I participated in. I was lucky enough to be able to do this opportunity for all four years of my high school
  • 53. Fur Trading Research Paper Fur Trading and Converting The first groups of French to arrive to the Americas were both the French fur traders, and often accompanying them or close behind on their heels came the black robe. Both groups fought for Native attention and recourses; the fur traders wanting their hunting and trapping skills, and the Black robe wanting their souls. This occasionally led to conflict, but sometimes unity amongst the New World parasites. Both groups competed for the Natives attention, and they would end up working with both groups. However, everyone now and then the Natives would kill both French entities. The constant tension among all three groups often led to violence, but when the groups worked together they achieved harmony, and a beneficial... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The traders brought with them many helpful tools, but they also brought diseases, and they raised tensions between tribes. These rising tensions for the best partners in the fur trade often led to war between the Natives, which turned deadly with the help of European weapons. The Black Robes did not bring to much to the table in the opinion of most Natives, but often they turned to them for help as they were so horrified with the amount of deaths from diseases. The two European groups often competed for Native lands, and labor, but the natives occasionally would turn on either group and slaughter them. In the end, the natives both benefitted from the Europeans but suffered at huge costs of culture, and
