Visual culture describes the aspects, things and objects, in our world made to be

the technology at hand today. With computer technology, artists are capable of
manipulating and creating images in ways that were once inconceivable. Figure 2

Volunteering Events at CSUEB For the volunteering assignment, I chose two
volunteering events: the Norcal Community College Counselor Breakfast and the
CSUEB Education Summit. Both of these events are being held on the California
State East Bay Campus. They are both classified as special events, and they are both
hosted by the Prospective Student Services Department. Although each of these
events has a specific focus, they are both directly related to addressing the needs of

In essence, being recognized, acknowledged, and validated highlights the importance
of the work done by community college counselors. During this event, community
college counselors are not only appreciated, acknowledged, and recognized, but they
are also able learn about the benefits of being a CSUEB student. The information
learned at the Northern California Community College Counselor Appreciation
Breakfast is extremely valuable for community college counselors. During this event,
they are first given a free breakfast. After breakfast, they are are able to engage in a
resource fair. The resource fair is filled with information and materials about CSUEB,
and it provides community college counselors with a range of options which will
assist them in transferring their students to a four year institution, such as CSUEB.
Community college counselors are then able to share the information learned at this
event with their students. This event is filled with information about CSUEB, and
community college counselors are able to hear the current information about CSUEB
admissions and enrollment. Hearing the current information about CSUEB is
valuable to community college counselors work. According to the Northern

It is an age of the online encyclopedia. Wikipedia, the largest online encyclopedia in
today s world, has already changed the way people access information to some
extent. The online encyclopedia is not only just the digital edition of traditional
encyclopedia but also every user of it can contribute materials (Murgia). This
collaborative modification feature of Wikipediahas already been widely accepted by
many people. Every month, Wikipedia has more than 18 billion page views on

Roughly 75,000 volunteers edit and write articles on Wikipedia every month

Many people claim that information on online encyclopedias such as Wikipedia may
be inaccurate because the contributors are anonymous (Seigenthaler). Many
anonymous writers may lack the required academic background or related
experience to write credible articles. Articles that are written by non academic
writers may contain factual errors or unverified information. Moreover, articles that
are edited by unprofessional editors may not present the intended ideas clearly or the
articles may not to be structured properly. Furthermore, the free editing also reduces
the information accuracy. Because any user can edit content, some articles may not
hold a neutral point of view. Articles may contain the author s personal political
beliefs, religious beliefs and bias. Also, because every user can edit content, hackers
and amoral users may use this opportunity to create false information to deceive
people. Compared with the online encyclopedia, the accuracy of traditional printed
encyclopedia seems to be much higher. For example, the articles in the encyclopedia
Britannica were written by a staff of about 100 full time editors and more than 4,000
expert contributors (Simonson). Not everyone has the chance to write on the

explore new or revisit favorite places. The idea that travel could also be a conduit

A journey that impacts each character differently. The characters in the book each
possessed one or more of the characteristic that defines a transformative traveler.
The Texan priest appeared to be an operative role ,amongst the crew, as a pilot. It is
not until later that D.W. s magnanimous leadership persona infects everyone on the
asteroid. D.W. Yarborough s personal reason for taking the journey only becomes
apparent right before his death. D.W. s transformative profile would be that of an
adventure/ challenge and healing travler. D.W. belonged to the order of priesthood
called the Jesuits. The priesthood was the only alternative to harness D.W. s
demons. The Jesuits strict guidelines gave D.W. the necessary restraints to control
his secular urges. The idea of of piloting the asteroid , reawakened a sleeping
passion for D.W. The guilt from participating in the worldly adventure was easily
dismissed . D.W. was honored that the request came from the Jesuits ,which
allowed him the opportunity to participate free of guilt. The Jesuit approval gave
credence to D.W s out of the ordinary confidence. D.W. s love for Emilio was also a
deciding factor to take this journey. The love that was extended by D.W to Emilio
