Examples Of Reflective Essay
Crafting an essay on the theme of "Examples of Reflective Essay" poses a unique set of
challenges, as it demands a delicate balance between personal introspection and academic rigor.
The difficulty lies in seamlessly intertwining one's own experiences, thoughts, and emotions with
the broader context of reflective writing principles.
Firstly, the task necessitates a keen understanding of reflective writing conventions, requiring the
writer to delve into the intricacies of self-analysis and thoughtful contemplation. Selecting
appropriate examples that not only showcase personal growth but also resonate with a wider
audience adds an additional layer of complexity. Striking the right balance between being
personal and maintaining objectivity is a constant tightrope walk that demands careful
consideration.
Moreover, the challenge lies in weaving a coherent narrative that captivates the reader's interest
while fulfilling the academic criteria for a reflective essay. It's crucial to avoid the pitfall of
becoming too anecdotal or too detached, as finding the perfect equilibrium is vital for a
compelling and insightful piece.
Another aspect that adds to the difficulty is the need for genuine self-reflection. The writer must
be willing to explore their thoughts and feelings honestly, even if it means confronting
uncomfortable truths. This level of introspection can be emotionally demanding, making the
writing process more intricate and personal.
In conclusion, composing an essay on the topic of "Examples of Reflective Essay" is indeed a
challenging endeavor. It requires a delicate balance between personal reflection and academic
structure, all while maintaining a captivating narrative. However, with dedication and a
thoughtful approach, one can navigate the complexities and produce a reflective essay that not
only meets academic standards but also resonates on a personal level.

Florida Recruit Case Study
Florida Recruiting: Inaugural Early Signing Day Preview
Tomorrow marks the first early signing period for college football recruits. Prospects
from around the country will be shutting down their recruitment processes, signing,
and early enrolling to their program of choice.
Dan Mullen was introduced as the 27th head coach in Florida Gators history just three
weeks prior to the inaugural signing period.
Despite seven de commitments from the Gators 2018 recruiting class since the arrival
of Mullen, this staff have put themselves in a position to close out the early signing
period with a profusion of momentum.
Florida has several prominent prospects that could find themselves in the #AllBite18

The opportunity of playing time awaits Jones in Gainesville and many believe he will
sign his letter of intent to the Gators on Wednesday.
Prediction: Florida
DB Trey Dean (Hampton, Ga.) Dean is another big time prospect that seems to be
eyeing the Gators more than other programs.
Dean de committed from the Tennessee Volunteers two weeks ago, and ever since,
the Gators have made a pursuit at landing the nations 22nd ranked safety.
Dean (6 foot 2, 180 pounds) is a long, athletic defensive back that possesses
tremendous football IQ. His length at defensive back benefits him in jump ball
situations, allowing him to make a play on the ball at its highest point.
Following an official visit to the Gators this past weekend, I expect Florida to seal
the deal with Dean. Florida also recently hired the Volunteers defensive back coach
from a season ago (Dean s former coach he committed to), making the pitch to Dean
much easier.
Dean would be the fourth safety prospect to sign for the Gators on Wednesday. The
staff made this unit a priority on the trail and it will pay off during the inaugural early
signing

The use, acceptance, adoption and application of internet technology to businesses to
boast their performances are not something new. Saffu et al., (2008), states that there
has been a significant increase in the use and application of e commerce in
businesses in the past decade. E commerce has benefits such as reduction in costs,
increased business opportunities, reduced lead time and providing more personalized
service to the customers (Turban et al., 2008). Internet banking or e banking is one of
the many tools of e commerce adopted by the banking industry. Tools of information

The Swot Analysis And Summaries Of The SWOT Analysis
Section 2: SWOT Analysis
The theory of the SWOT analyses
The SWOT analysis aims to provide a short overview of a business s current strategic
situation by analyzing its internal factors, being strengths and weaknesses, alongside
its external factors that might have an impact on the businesses strategic choices,
being the entity s opportunities and threats (Anja Böhm, 2009: 1). The SWOT
analysis is ultimately a tool which is used to analyze a business s current situation in
the market place and aims to identify a strategy for successful development using the
overlap between the internal and external factors. The acronym SWOT simply stands
for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (Nadine Pahl Anne Richter,
2009: 27).
Strengths ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the major limitations is that it doesn t offer any end solutions to develop a
business s strategic plans, but rather forms part of the process, as depicted in the
above Diagram 1. It only acts as a tool to help a business with their strategic
decisions, and cannot produce the final decision by itself. A full SWOT analysis
often ends up producing long extensive lists of the strengths, weaknesses,
opportunities and threats which are not arranged in any particular way that could
reflect priorities. It does not rank the factors by importance. This can be a problem
because some effects of certain threats/weaknesses can be more serious and harmful
to the businesses competitive advantage than others but the SWOT analysis does not
make this clear. It doesn t highlight or single out any of the more important strengths
and opportunities and this can sometimes lead to favorable opportunities being lost
among other mediocre ones. One of the problems that often arises when conducting
a SWOT analysis is that the same factor could be placed in two different categories.
This problem of ambiguity can cause disputes and confusion. An example of this
would be locating a retail store on the high upmarket streets of a big city. This is a
strength as it puts the store out there to lots of potential customers, but the weakness
to this is that it would have very high
The Significance Of Nature In William Wordsworth By...
As time passes it is said that the human race becomes less aware of nature around
them and more consumed with the things produced by man. The romantic poet
William Wordsworth saw the cultural decline and as the literary critic Harold Bloom
stated, The fear of mortality haunts much of Wordsworth s best poetry, especially in
regard to the premature mortality of the imagination and the loss of creative joy. This
statement greatly reflects the views of Wordsworth, whose poetry conveys the
warning of a man asking those enveloped in the worldto step back and recognize the
beauty and miracles of nature. A few of the texts in which this warning of
Wordsworth s is very potent include Tinturn Abbey, The Prelude
, The World Is Too
Much With Us, and London, 1802. These works all include a reference to the fall
or the cultural decline of the people in the world, especially those he sees around
himself. The amazing gift of nature is the blessing Wordsworth sees and wishes for
those around him to recognize the issue is often the plain, everyday miracles of the
world are overlooked because of the material things human possess more and more
of each day. The statement made by Bloom is a very accurate one as Wordsworth
does wish to push the world back into a respect for the beauty and blessing of nature.
The application of Wordsworth s call back to nature is seen in his poem Tinturn
Abbey, as he recalls the happiness brought to him in his youth by the peace and
beauty of the area.
Meaning Of Heroism
Heroes can be found everywhere in the world. Some can be found in real life, such
as Abraham Lincoln, the sixteenth president of the United Sates who led the Union
in the war against slavery, and successfully abolished. Others are found stories
known by many people, such as Cinderella, who overcame challenges with a kind
heart and good deeds. Although heroes are found all over the world in both real life
and imagination, what about them makes them heroic? One individual named Oliver
Stone, believes that being a heroinvolves becoming a better person and that the traits
of a hero are seen everywhere, all the time, unnoticed. Another person named Dr.
Phineas D. Gurley implies that heroism is shown by a one s deeds and actions.
Altogether,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many believe the misconception that if a person is famous, then they are a hero.
However, this concept is found to be false if people took a closer at the person. For
example, Abraham Lincoln, as previously stated, was the sixteenth president of the
United States for leading the Union to victory against the legality of slavery. In a
sermon, Dr. Phineas D. Gurley, a former pastor of the New York Avenue
Presbyterian Church and Chaplain of the U.S. Senate, stated, He is dead; but the
memory of his virtues, of his wise and patriotic counsels and labors, of his calm
and steady faith in God lives, is precious, and will be a power for good in the
country quite down to the end of time (Gurley, 1865). The phrase, power for good
in the country quite down to the end of time and the fact that Abraham Lincoln
was a president of the U.S., influences people to assume that being famous means
that you are a hero. However, a closer look at the quote shows that the memory of
his virtues and his wise and patriotic counsels and labors is what led to Lincoln
being deemed a hero. The quote does not specify that being the president of the
U.S. was what made Lincoln a hero. Thus, being a hero does not mean being famous
or being well known and is, on the contrary, about what a person does. While the
traits and qualities of a hero are well distinguished from ones that are not,
Daughters Of Eve By Margaret King Summary
The excerpt Daughters of Eve from Renaissance Woman by Margaret King
describes a period between 1350 and 1650. King s focus is on Western and
Southern Europe, with particular emphasis on England and Florence, but with
information from other regions of Italy, France and Germany. King is interested in
the lives of women during this period, and the expectations, cultural practices and
social mores which defined and constructed the feminine identity of the time. In
the first section of the book entitled, Daughters of Eve , King begins by exploring
the role of religion in framing the acceptable roles for women. At the time Europe
was mainly Christian, with exceptions of regions of the Balkans, some islands of
the Mediterranean and Iberia. Thus, the primary cultural references used in the
society of the time relate to key figures from Christianity, and, with regard to
femininity, the major figures employed were the Virgin Mary and Eve. Essentially
they are the key do and don t role models the Bible provides. The first is exalted for
her role as the mother... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Reading about the endless death that characterized the lives of women during this
period, dread of their own death, anguish at the deaths of their children, was
particularly hard to deal with, but it is necessary. It paints a powerful and intense
picture of the experiences of the time, and the distance between that time period and
our own. I believe the book is also useful and important for the theory and thesis it
propounds, that women are placed within a system of power which they did not
create and which does not always value them. The women of the Renaissance
endured lives of pain and repression, any other forms of existence were deviations
from the norms imposed upon them. This does not make the book easy to read, but it
does make it important, perhaps even
Comparison Of Minnelli And Jacques Demy s Les
Demoiselles...
Jacques Demy s Les Demoiselles de Rochefort is a whirlwind of color, light, joy,
design, and music. It s a visual tour de force, a treat for the eyes. It s also similar, in
many respects, to the work of Vincente Minnelli. Minnelli, especially with his
musicals, carefully designed every little detail. For him, the mise en scene was
paramount, so much so that character development would be expressed through the
scenery. For example, Gene Kelly literally brings color wherever he goes in
American in Paris. In Minnelli s world, the worst thing a character can do is bring
ugliness. Beauty was key. But that s not to say that Minnelli s films were light and
fluffy. Even his airier films, like The Pirate, had tonal complexity. Demy s musical
world is also highly stylized and designed. Everything looks extremely artificial
and character joy matches their outfits. But it s not completely the same to
Minnelli s world. For one, this musical is very happy. Cares and worries are taken
away through musical numbers. Characters have a formal idea of the perfect man
or woman. But Demy still manages to achieve tonal complexity, just in a slightly
weirder way. Compare Rochefort to American in Paris. Both films are stunningly
beautiful. American in Paris plot is very light, allowing the relationship between
Gene Kelly and Leslie Caron to be explored. The plot s also kept light to make room
for the extended ballet sequence at the end. However, compared to Rochefort, the plot
of American in

As history has taught us an Army at war is stretched and stressed in some cases
similarly to a rubber band ready to break. In today s Army we have a large number
of Officers and Non Commissioned Officers who have learned or have been taught to
be comfortable with ambiguity, complexity, and change. While we do not appear
much different than our predecessors we carry our wisdom and savvy that can only
be gained from our obstacles experienced through multiple deployments fighting an
enemy hidden within the cities, intermixed with innocent civilians, and no distinctive
means of recognition. We have faced variables that constantly change noted
throughout our military history such as; weather, terrain, civilian population, ever
evolving enemy, and different dynamics. To continuously improve the leaders today
in adaptability we need to be constantly tested, and pushed to our limits in order to
overcome our impasse. Through my research on developing adaptive leaders I have
found a statement from a former Chief of Staff of the Army General Eric Shinseki
and he set the stage for change by chartering the Army Training and Leader

The Problem Of Criminal Behavior Among Juveniles
It is the family that prepares the child for life outside of the home. Certain lifestyles,
such as, conflict either between the parents or between the child and the parent(s)
may lead to a negative ways in the child s actions by fighting, blaming each other and
avoiding responsibilities (Angenent and de Man 1996:95). This is known to lead to
the child becoming involved with gangs in an effort to replace the relationships that
is missing within their family. As this behavior continues and the child becomes more
involved with gangs the less likely they will maintain norms imposed upon them by
their family and instead engage in criminal behavior (Angenent and de Man 1996:97).
Unfortunately, this type of behavior only leads to time spent in juvenile detention.
And sadly among the youths, recidivismcontinues to be a huge problem. One could
only wonder what is in place to help decrease the repetition of criminal behavior
among juveniles? In this research they examined the provision of behavioral health
services to youths detained in Indiana between 2008 and 2012 and the impact of
services on recidivism. For the purpose of the research study, they defined recidivism
as a new arrest charge within 12 months after release from a youth s first detention
stay (Aalsma).
Juvenile detention centers are meant to be short term holding facilities to meet the
physical and behavioral health needs of the child. They are not to provide
rehabilitation or long term treatment to a child.
Life And Debt
Neocolonialism as defined by Sandra Halperin, is the control of less developed
countries by developed countries through indirect means. These means mainly
include economic, political, and cultural pressures to influence the continued
dependency of former colonies creating a colonial like exploitation. Stephen Black,
director of Life and Debt documentary, portrays this concept by using the
International Monetary Fundand the World Bank s influence on the Jamaican
economy. In this response I will be focusing on the different aspects of neo
colonialismin relation to leadership portrayed in the film Life and Debt.
To begin with, Culture is the most common aspect of neo colonialism that has been
prevalent in today s era as it is directly linked to the economy in numerous
countries. In the movie Life Debt, the culture of Jamaica is viewed as both an
aspect of entertainment and identity. Due to the policies that govern trade imposed
by the IMF, the agriculture culture can be disseminated as citizens by cheaper
imported food rather than local more expensive food. Based on this example one can
see that it is the case in most third world countries. For example, in 2016, South
Africa was encouraged to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Life Debt, we see that as a Jamaica starts to gain ground against the IMF, it is
pushed back such as the use of Free Trade Zones to provide employment while
workers are paid less. In a similar context, the late Thomas Sankara was betrayed by
his companion, Blaise CompaorГ©, president of Burkina Faso from 1987 to 2014,
who was supported by the French government as they attempted to counter Sankara s
visionary attempts on creating a better Bukina Faso. Such political influence on the
country leadership is a linchpin in every government as their attempts to recover are
always thwarted by foreign
The Last Meow Summary
Not everyone would agree with my position , For example Burkhard Bilger the
author of The Last Meow believes that relationships between people and their pets
has gone too far in the sense of spending too much money on them with vet and
other necessities. Why is it only crazy if people are spending so much money on
their pets and not the other things they waste their money on ? More and more
animals each day are injured , diagnosed , with brutal injuries. An average American
spends over a billion each year at the vet for their pet. That s three times as much as
the federal government spends on welfare grants. According in The Last Meow the

Hse, Risk Assessment
1.Introduction:
A Health and Safety risk assessment is a planned process in which all hazards in the
workplace are identified and their risk prospective evaluated. The risk possible is a
mixture of the likelihood when could an accident happen with the severity what could
result if an accident did happen. Once the risk potential has been identified, it will
allow you to decide whether you have taken adequate (reasonable practicable)
precaution or whether you need to do more to prevent harm. (Boyle, Tony (2008)
Health and Safety: Risk Management,)
Risk assessment is an integral part of any Health and Safety management system.

Hazard identification does not end with the initial investigation. Hazard identification
should be regarded as an ongoing process. In general, the legal requirement is for
hazard recognition to be undertaken; before and during the introduction of new work
systems, plant and chemicals to the workplace; any alteration or change in the work
place and where new information on hazards or control measures becomes available.
A risk management matrix is a tool that can be used to assess a risk by evaluating a
hazard s likelihood of occurring and its potential consequences. This will assist in
identifying and prioritize hazards and implementation of controls.
When conducting a risk assessment the employer must consider the employees
under his control and the general public which his business could affect (OSH Act
part II; sec. 6, 7, 8, 9, 10). An important issue to consider is the people who will be
exposed to risks from hazards, and how any individual characteristics may impact on
exposure. Gathering this information at the hazard identification stage will assist with
the risk assessment efforts. In most cases, those affected will be the people involved
in the tasks. During hazard identification people issues such as any special
characteristics which should be taken into account for example, inexperience, age,
gender, chemical susceptibility and ergonomic issues. Consideration must be given to
persons not involved in the task. Could the persons be
Cost Benefit Analysis ( Cba )
1.Introduction
In the recent years, Cost benefit Analysis (CBA) has been connected to different
ranges of strategies and tasks. Indeed, with research of CBA was conducted into two
wide areas of work. One area which undertaken to defined the technical economic
reasons for supporting CBA and then again there are studies which completes
empirical evaluations over the performance of test of CBA.
For every business and IT that has developed projects, they have to make good

2.Cost Benefit Analysis
Cost benefit analysis has been around for many years while serving a great
purpose to any business or IT due its wide range of innovative strategies.
According to Levin and McEwan (2001, p.14) Cost benefit analysis is a tool that
evaluates to the assessment of choices as indicated by their costs and benefits
when each is measured in economic terms. However Prest and Turvey defined cost
benefit analysis as a practical way of assessing the desirability of projects, where it
is important to take a long view (in sense of looking at repercussions in the further,
as well as the nearer, future) and a wide view (in the sense of allowing for side
effects of many kinds of many persons, industries, regions, etc.) i.e it implies the
enumerations and evaluation of all the relevant costs and benefits .
The aim of CBA is to put a monetary values on the benefit anticipated from the
project and difference the costs which are relied upon to
Rhetoric Of Pericles Funeral Oration
Pericles Funeral Oration Analysis Pericles, as we know, was an exceeding leader and
statesmen for most of Athen s reign during the 5th century B.C.E. He was an
extremely successful man, and well rounded in many aspects of Athenian leadership.
He wasn t just a statesman for Athens, he was a persuasive politician, glorified
military leader, and filled with boastful patriotism towards Athens. It was common
ritual for speeches to be given to the survived families of the fallen after war, but
Pericles take on the speech was a little different than the ordinary. Pericles focused
greatly on the significance of a democratic government. His goal was to raise the
spirits of the fallen soldiers families , and build patriotism in their hearts to get them
motivated to fight for their freedom in Athens. Pericles was a very persuasive
speaker, and his Funeral Oration speech was indeed successful in its mission:
convince the people that the fallen soldiers shouldn t be mourned, but rather raise
their patriotism and to follow in the footsteps of the fallen, and to fight for their
honor, freedom, and democracyas a whole. Pericles speech was not a lie, but rather a
persuasive and manipulative speech to capture the fallen spirits during a tough time
of war. The speech wins the people in the crowd over with a sense of pride over
Athens. Their democratic republic was a unique government for their time, and
Pericles takes advantage of his words by proclaiming, Our constitution does not copy
the laws of neighbouring states; we are rather a pattern to others than imitators
ourselves. This statement reminds the people of Athens that their community is
different than the surrounding nations, and that they should be proud of where they
have gotten. A hint of direction comes into play, though, when Pericles goes on to
say, If we look to the laws, they afford equal justice to all in their private
differences...nor again does poverty bar the way, if a man is able to serve the state,
he is not hindered by the obscurity of his condition. Comparing this statement to the
laws of the Spartans, it increases even further the sense of patriotism that Pericles is
trying to raise within the crowd. With the Spartans government being very
Influential People Of The Enlightenment
The Enlightenment or SiГЁcle des LumiГЁres as it known in France was the start of
a physiological movement which controlled world ideas of the 18th century. It is
believed by French historians that this period started in between 1715 and 1789 the
year Louis XIV died. Others date the start of the enlightenment back to 1620 with the
start of the scientific revolution. Enlightenment thinkers wanted goals of tolerance,
progress, liberty, and reason as well to end the abuses of the state and church. The
enlightenment is marked by rising experimentation, scientific accuracy, and
reductionism, along with increased questioning of religious beliefs. Three very
influential people of the enlightenment are John Locke, François Marie Arouet also

Analysis Of Jonathan Kozol s The Mechanics Of The Book
I. Analysis of the mechanics of the book. In today s society, there are issues that are
more important than another. There may be some disagreements on which issue is
more important than the rest. Which leads to the most important topic in life,
education. At a young age, we are enrolled in schoolfrom kindergarten to senior year
of high school. When you hit high school you are preparing for your future;
attending college, joining the work force, the military, etc. However, one thing
seems to go unnoticed, this is the notion that a young ones career as a student is
simply molded when they are in their elementary years. This now leads to the topic
of this essay; Jonathan Kozol s book and his research on students from the inner
city. It appears that Jonathan Kozol took the organization of his book very
seriously. In fact, I believe that his book was organized very well. When it comes to
the type of organization used, deciding which was used is ultimately up to the
reader. Personally, I believe that Kozol used topical organization. The reason being is
that each chapter had a different topic with an underlying message. Although at
points it may have seemed that he was listing everything in chronological order,
Kozol stuck with the examples that were relevant to the theme of that individual
chapter. If Kozol were to use another form of organization, chronological perhaps, his
book would not be much different. I feel that is he were to use this form, his powerful

Personification In The Three Ravens
The Three Ravens is an english folk ballad, which was first printed in a song book
Melismata compiled by Thomas Ravenscroft. It was published in the year 1611.
It is a ballad about three ravens who take up a scavenger bird conversation about
where and what they should eat for breakfast that morning.
In the ballad The Three Ravens Thomas Ravenscroft uses personification and
colourful imagery to discuss the ballad, and in the ballad the reader is led to expect
something, but we discover a whole new theme in the ballad which is very interesting
to know about. And the Thomas Ravenscroft uses a non scavenger as a scavenger bird
in the ballad.
There were three ravens that sat on a tree. (Ravenscroft,Thomas, The Three
Ravens (1611) Ballad provided by the instructor). According to the poet he says
that there were three ravens who sat on a tree They were as black as they might be.
(Ravenscroft,Thomas, The Three Ravens (1611) Ballad provided by the instructor).
As we all know that all ravens are black. When one of the raven asks the other
ravens what is their breakfast for today.
Down in yonder green fields, There lies a knight slain under his shield.
(Ravenscroft,Thomas, The Three Ravens (1611) Ballad provided by the
instructor). one of the raven tells the other ravens that our breakfast is the green
field, were lies a knight who is dead. And the knight is being guarded by a shield. In
this ballad the ravens are considered as scavengers which is wrong, because as we all
people know that ravens are not scavengers and they mostly feed other small insects
and worms and they also feed on eggs of other smaller birds.
In this ballad The Three Ravens the ravens are considered as wild birds who feed
on dead organisms. But ravens as we know are not tame animals as they do not
welcome any human presence near them but they also do not depend on dead meat
as given in the ballad. In the Ballad The Three Ravens the ravens are mostly given a
character that is suitable for a scavenger like vulture.
Down there comes a fallow doe, As great with your as she might go.

Now in the ballad there is a magical touch where there is a lady who is
Reflection On Otato
Once, when I was in highschool, I heard about the infamous potato assignment that
some nameless teachers handed out to their students, and I found myself
intrigued. At that time I was a passionate writer who loved overanalyzing the small
details of what I was writing (as I still am today), so such an assignment was
perfectly tailored to my interests. It was the embodiment of everything that most
non hobbyist writers hated and that I loved, and an opportunity for me to stand out
among a crowd of less than average performances. Today, when reading what was
supposed to be one of those average essays, I realized that being able to accurately
sketch and describe every last detail of a potatodoes not make for an engaging paper.
Or, well, I already knew this, but the desire to write anything more than that hadn t
clicked.
Despite supposedly being excited about the project, I only began working on the
second and final day. A part of me wondered why it always felt like I was rushing
to finish my papers, before promptly realizing that I had decided to take a summer
class. I began to regret life. However, this would not deter me from the initial
passion I had for examining my potato just the day before, as indicated by my
original paper entry which read: assignment given, filled with excitement at the
prospect of describing the intimate details of my potato, who I have decided to name
Winston . After all, I wouldn t want to disappoint past me, who had been so ecstatic
to try her
The Symbolism Of Another Brick In The Wall
Sean Leahy, an Australian cartoonist released a political cartoon Lazarus quits PUP
to satirically represent the departure of several members of the Palmer United
Party, which was created and run by Australian mining magnate Clive Palmer. The
cartoon itself is a re creation of the nursery rhyme Humpty Dumpty, in which he
falls of a brick wall. Leahy s cartoon displays Humpty Dumpty as Palmer, who is
falling besides a deteriorating brick wall. Four specific bricks are of interest as
three have been displayed with the surnames Douglas, Judge and Lambie. The brick
adjacent to Clive is displayed with a face, singing, We don t need no thought control
which is a lyric from Another Brick in the Wall , a song created by Pink Floyd. The
amalgamation... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A notable aspect of irony presented in the cartoon has been shown with the
placement of the brick wall. The characteristics of brick walls are strong, firm and
robust which is ironic, as the wall in the cartoon is shown curved and deteriorating.
Another element of irony in the cartoon is the representation of Palmer as Humpty
as Humpty Dumpty is interpreted as a kind figure worthy of assistance as the most
known iteration of the rhyme states that all the king s horses and all the king s men
couldn t put humpty together again (Wikipedia, 2015). This is ironic as multiple
reports state that members of the PUP abandoned the party due to the mistreatment
by Palmer. (theage, businessinsider, 2015) Within the cartoon, Leahy has provoked
the thought of irony, while simultaneously displaying parody. Parody, the final
satirical device, has been deployed by Leahy to further ridicule the PUP. The
artwork is a parody of Humpty Dumpty. Having Palmer as Humpty falling off the
brick wall has represented the nursery rhyme. However in this iteration of Humpty
Dumpty the brick wall is crumbling with him, ridiculing the fact that most of his
political party have separated to become independent politicians, due to Palmers
actions. Leahy in his cartoon has used parody to ridicule the

The Burning Of Petroleum Based Fuels
Can you see the light? As the burning of petroleum based fuels, natural gases, and
coal continues, smog will continue to cover the sky. Pollution from said burning
occurs as greenhouse gases and chemicals. Specifically, petroleum based fuels,
natural gases, and coal release energy when heat breaks the bonds between
hydrogens and carbons, generating energy and releasing carbon dioxide and water as
byproducts. This energy often originates from stored energy preserved in organisms
that eventually died and lingered in the crust. The byproduct carbon dioxide is the
most dominant of the greenhouse gases, which are gases that absorb and release
thermal energy from the Sun. These gases trap thermal energy in the atmosphere
while releasing a small amount into space. Global warming occurs due to the
trapping of this heat. Their covering of the sky and Sun reduces the amount of
sunlight that can reach the Earth. In addition, these energy sources are also bulky
and inefficient. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (2014),
producing even one kilowatt hour of energy (one kilowatt of electricity expended in
one hour), 0.08 gallons of petroleum based fuel, 1000 cubic feet of natural gases,
and 1.09 pounds of coal ( How much coal, natural gas, or petroleum is used to
generate a kilowatt hour 1 of electricity? ). Despite the availability of alternative
energy sources, most people prefer these dirty energy sources.
Solar power shows promise as a potential alternative.
Jerry s Through The Tunnel
Jerry is one of the main characters in the short story, Through the Tunnel. Jerry is an
eleven year old, English boy who is trying to become more independent, but still
wants to please his mother. Throughout the story he struggles through getting through
the tunnel because he looks up to what he considers men passing through the tunnel.
He tries everyday and never gives up. He also is looking for his mothers appreciation
and approval at times. At the end of the story, Jerry feels that he has accomplished
some things such as holding his breath for about three minutes, however he still has
to work on the strength for traveling through the tunnel. Overtime Jerry finally felt
that he had enough courage to jump off the rocks and swim... Show more content on

Jerry looks up to them and so he never stops practicing. He wants to show them and
himself that he can accomplish his goal with no fear. Personally, I can relate to
this because many teens and myself want feel accepted by others. Most of all by
their parents and friends. I have struggled to deal with this, but I still think positive
and never give up. One time in my life I wanted to be accepted as a cool person. I
never was accepted but peer pressure made me fall for it. During my sixth grade
year, I was bullied for various things. I always look back to that because it is a
memory I won t ever forget. That s when I knew I wanted to be a coveted as
someone s friend. Today, I want to be accepted by my parents. They have had their
difficulties so I just try to deal with it day by day. Jerry does the same. He wants to
show the local older boys that he can do swim through the tunnel too just like
them. He is wanting attention and approval from them, but most of all he wants to
accomplish his goal. Jewry wants to show himself that he can do anything if he
sets his mind to it. He wants to succeed by swimming through the tunnel. He wants
to face his fears. Jerry may also feel that he has to be stronger and more mature
because he doesn t have a father. He wants to show his mother that he could be the
new man of the house. Jerry may also feel hurt that he has no male figure to look
up. I can also relate to this because sometimes I wish I had a male figure to look up
to, but I don t have one so I can feel how the emotional pain is. It hurts, but it s life.
You have to deal with it. It may hurt at times, but you have to get through all the
pain emotionally. Jerry could have also felt that he had to mature because of the
loss of his father. I sometimes feel this way, however I had to mature at a younger
age due to circumstances. All in all Jerry risked
Revenue vs. Education in the U.S. and the United Kingdom
4.0. Analysis and Results
In this chapter, statistical results of the revenue vs. education in The USA and in The
UK will be comparatively illustrated. The time period chosen lies between 2008 and
2013 (immediately after the effects of the financial crisis started to appear, and up
until today); firstly, data will be presented via bar charts and statistical information,
and will continue with a regression for each country which will illustrate the
qualitative parameters of the chosen model, and will establish the amount of
influence between the education level and annual income series. The fixed model (or
the Ordinary Least Square approach) is the most suitable model for our datasets,
according to the result of the Hausman test.

If we are to look again at the bar charts from the beginning of this chapter, we can
also observe the fact that the increase of the wage, in time, is very slow, and in the
case of 2008 2009, a visible decrease had even been registered.

a significant value, which reveals that 77 percent of the overall factors that influence
the income are related to the education level of an individual. The p value of the

The Implementation Of Refurbishing Buildings
Introduction
The process of refurbishing buildings can be a lengthy and complex procedure.
The outline of tasks and stages that have to be completed during project and when
the building will be in use is presented below. This is a simple diagram of RIBA Plan
of Work 2013 bespoke planning tool used in the industry full version is available in
the Appendix 1. (RIBA, 2013a. p.16)
Before we proceed with refurbishment planning I will have to carry out necessary
surveys. Measurement to assess the size of the building which will help in evaluating
quantities; structural to get an idea of needed demolition, services that are in place
and the possibility of providing new ones and asbestos survey which is necessary
precaution to address hazards in the building.
In this report I am going to analyse the procurement routes that would be suitable for
your project. I will outline tendering process and present the standard forms of
contracts available. At the end, I will advise on the best fit solution but the final
decision on how we will proceed with this project is entirely yours.
Procurement
The procurement strategy identifies the best way of achieving the completion of a
construction project taking into account the best value for money over the entire life
cycle of the building or facility (RICS, 2013. p. 21). There are three routes of
procurement that could be adapted for your project:

Do you like it Paris? Caitlin held the Gucci dress up for her to see. Oh my God!
Paris squealed. She admired the beauty in front of her. The Gucci dress that is. It
was one of a kind. It was a stretch jersey with an open back. Her little black dress.
When she tried it on, it was form fitting but it looks sexy on her. It also shows a lot
of cleavage. She admired her 5 3 frame in the seven foot mirror. She smiles at
herself, noting the light shining its way back through her eyes. Girl, you are
wearing that dress. Caitlin whistled and her girls laughs. Caitlin watched as the
girls held Paris long auburn hair that is now down her back high up in the air. Paris
spins as she laughs happily with them while Caitlin stood back admiring her. What
a sexy doll. I want her. Too bad she doesn t know what she really in for. Caitlin

saw how gorgeous Paris looks in the dress. He was taken aback. Isn t she stunning?
Caitlin asks him, who goes by the name, Draco. Yes. She. Does. Draco awed, and
laughs with the girls. Boy, close your damn mouth! You re drooling. Caitlin joked.
Draco wipes the nonexistent drool, and was loving how the dress seem to fit
perfectly around Paris breasts and butt. He was in love. After moments of being
admired so much, Paris went to the bathroom to change back into her loose fitting
jeans and sweater. Caitlin wants her to ride with them to Virginia since no school was
Modern Day Slavery And The Second Largest

Introduction
Human trafficking has been an ongoing business that can be tracked many years
back. Today it is considered to be modern day slavery and the second largest
international organized crime industry. It brings in billions of dollars annually. Often
human trafficking can be defined as the forced or coerced movement of people across
national borders as well as within countries. Due to the increase of cultural and
economic globalization, human trafficking sky rockets every year. Common areas
victims are trafficked to parts of Asia, Europe and North America. Within the human
trafficking sector, there are three major subsets. Sexual trafficking, Labor trafficking,
and Organ trafficking.
Sex trafficking is the largest subset within the ... Show more content on

Due to the some of the factors stated above, I believe that human trafficking will only
get worse. In my essay, I plan to discuss how these three countries are contributing to
it, what theory I used to conduct my research and how it relates to the topic, the level
of analysis/structure, sectorial processes, and my future prediction of human
trafficking. Human Trafficking and Human Smugglingare often confused. There is a
distinct difference between the two. According to the United States Department of
States human smuggling is the facilitation, transportation, attempted transportation or
illegal entry of a person(s) across an international border, in violation of one or more
countries laws, either clandestinely or through deception, such as the use of
fraudulent documents. Human Trafficking is the trafficking of persons for the
purpose of committing commercial sex acts, or to subject them to involuntary
servitude, peonage, debt bondage, or slavery.
Structure/Level of Analysis/ Theory Although human trafficking is a global issue,
the level of analysis I chose was regional. In this paper I am focusing on the Mekong
region, where Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand are located. This region has a high
amount of women and children that are trafficked into the sex industry. The theory I
chose for this topic is Kenneth Waltz. Waltz is a neorealist and examines the
international system from a top down view. He also looks at the behavior of states,

The disaster in Bhopal, India was the worst industrial disaster ever. The plant where
it occurred was Union Carbide, an American owned plant that makes batteries, but
to make them they had to first have a chemical known as MIC. That was made in
the plant in Bhopal. MIC is volatile, unpredictable and fatal if inhaled. It is one of
the most toxic and lethal substances. Regardless, people still wanted to work for the
Union Carbideplant in Bhopalbecause it paid well. However, people who worked at
the plant begin to worry about the chemicals and their toxicities. People began to
flee in mass panic. No one calls the first responders, who do not have a plan in place
anyway. Some people die by being crushed. No one knows if it is better to stay
Analysis of Empress Myeongseong As a Hero
Empress Myeongseong as a Hero The question as to what defines a true hero dates
back to the beginning of humanity itself. Throughout man s existence on the earth,
times of struggle and tribulation have often resulted in individuals or groups facing
periods of trial, violence, or duress. In these situations, a select few individuals have
risen to leadership to assist in times of hardship, establishing their place as a hero
within the pages of human history. However, in viewing these heroes and in taking a
deeper look into their own subjective histories, one can immediately see that these
individuals come from different backgrounds, social standing, periods in time,
geographic location only to name a few. What then, unifies these individuals under
the umbrella term of hero? Professor James Castagnera notes that the world s idea of
a hero is, any person admired for couragenobility, or exploits, especially in war, or
any person admired for qualities or achievements and regarded as an ideal or
model (Castagnera 1). In this sense, it can be understood that to be a true hero, one
must rise to a place of high regard amongst the individuals one interacts with.
Regardless of cultural differences amongst the world s heroes, this unifying factor is
what continuously links these individuals, and has done so for ages. Such reverence
for a hero can be seen in viewing the story of Empress Myeongseong of Korea,
whose works and contributions to the Koren people have placed her amongst

Question: What economic trap did peasants suffer from according to lines 3 4? 3:
Changed with their children, and chief lord s rent 4: What by spinning they save,
they spend it in house hire Answer: The economic trap that is stated in this poem,
translated by Terence Tiller, to the peasants is a couple of things. First, in the 3rd
line, it states, Charged with their children, and chief lords rent, which is implying
that they must pay for their children and also pay or rent the land that they live on
which is granted to them by the lords. In line 4 it states, What by spinning they
save, they spend it in house hire. This is stating that the peasants would have to also
pay for their houses damages while being stressed by all the other cluttered things
they must pay for. They overall economic trap for the peasants is them paying others
and for themselves to live a somewhat healthy life, such as lords and vassals and for
their children. Document 2 Quotation from Juan Ruiz What does the writer mean by
a man not being able to , call himself his own master? Question: Answer: The writer
means that compared to a man with excessive wealth being honorable and respected,
the man that is penniless cannot call himself his own master. This implies that while
the man with wealth is the ruler, the penniless man is the one being ruled. The man
with no money cannot call himself his own
Robert Hunter West s Milton And The Angels
Robert Hunter West. Milton and the Angels.
The University of Georgia: The University of Georgia Press, 1955.
Robert H. West s Milton and the Angels consists of ten chapters which are divided
into two main sections. The first half of the book expounds upon the history of the
study of angels in the Western hemisphere and then in Englandspecifically. The
second half of the book examines the titular subject of John Milton s propositions on
angels. The final chapter of the work, reiterates and summarizes all nine previous
chapters to reveal their larger purpose and significance within the book itself and
within Milton s entire career. Through the structure, West outlines that he tried to give

While each of the different traditions had very different beliefs on the details of
angelology, such as the exemplified Catholic and Protestant differences, each agreed
upon the necessity of angelology, which West reveals through the words of John
Calvin. Beyond the question of the rank, West expounds upon controversies about the
nature, purpose, substance, ability, activity, and humanity of angels throughout every
age of history from the Greek and Roman empires to Milton s seventeenth century
England to both contextualize the book s subject for readers and to illuminate the
significance and depth behind John Milton s own literary representation of angels.
In chapters six and seven, West introduces Milton s angelology and examines the
choices he makes throughout his literature to maintain a specific representation of the
angels and other supernatural subjects. Specifically, West identifies three problems
Milton had to overcome in writing Paradise Lost, which involved balancing the need
for literary description with the strict, biblical interpretation of angels hailed in
Puritanism, deciding which opinions on angelology could be used to truthfully
deduce the needed level of description, and broadly,

Dumbbells
If one of your resolutions this year is to get healthy or lose weight, then you
probably must have considered joining a Gym to help you out with this. Starting a
new healthy routine, a much less one where you regularly go to the Gym can be
difficult. Starting an exercise program all of a sudden is not a simple task. A visit to
your local gym can seem very intimidating. You look around and dazzled by the array
of machines available there.
Several questions starts to pop in your head like, what is it? How does it work?
Will I be able to do it? Etc. even the vocabulary seems to appear like foreign

Dumbbell exercises are performed with a dumbbell in each hand by lifting it up and
down. Most gyms have dumbbell rack that has an assortment of fixed weights
dumbbells. they usually have dumbbells ranging from 5lbs to 100 plus lbs. it is
recommended by professionals that as a beginner you must start from the 5 lbs and
then later you can definitely upgrade to as much more as you want.
Weight plates: There are different types of gym weight plates and bars varying
from Olympic bar to EZ curling bar. Weight plates similar to dumbbells range from
2.5 lbs to 100 lbs. they are usually made from iron, however, many home gyms have
plastic weight plates. Most of the people are familiar with York plastic barbell set.
This is perfect for someone who is just starting out as the thickness of the plastic
weight plates limit the amount of weight that can be placed on the dumbbells or

Comparison Of Gish Jen, George Orwell And Isabel Allende
Source: Gish Jen, Sebastian Junger, George Orwell and Isabel Allende
I.Rhetorical Context (Who wrote it or created? Why was it written? What is it
trying to do to or for its readers? What is it? Where does it appear? When was it
published?) Isabel Allende is the first author who writes a story which later
becomes an obsession. The main reason as to why she often writes is to have an
impact on both the heart and mind of the reader. The work appears in the Bay Area
literary scene a historical fiction that bare all memoirs of sex and food which was
published in 2010. Sebastian Junger is the second author who writes to give people
what they want to read. He tries to engage the readers and make his piece of writing
compelling and accessible. Junger s work was published by New York Times in
2010. Gish Jen is the third author and she writes because writing is part and parcel
of her life. Her work was published by The New Republic in 2010. The fourth
author is George Orwell her passion coming from an early age of five or six which
comes out to be conscious that was outranging George s true nature. George wants
the readers to know about the different degrees that the writers have in terms of sheer
egoism, aesthetic enthusiasm, historical impulse and political purpose. The works of
George was published in 1946 in GB, London.
II.Summary (What does the text say? What are its main points? What did you find
most interesting?) One of the main points in Isabella works is
Workforce Engagement At The Bunker Elementary
Workforce Engagement
Workforce engagement is the feeling of emotional connection someone has to their
workplace. An engaged employee feels satisfied and enthusiastic about their work.
They feel valued, driven, and that they belong to part of a team. This is the way a
school should feel for its employees. When teachers and staff of a school are engaged
in fulfilling the work of the school they show higher levels of performance and
thereby increase the achievement of students. Principals should know the engagement
level of their staff and also any events or feelings that may impact that engagement
level.
Assess Workforce Engagement
The following information was gathered from an interview with Andrea Williams,
principal of Theresa Bunker Elementary. Mrs. Williams first shared the fact that
this is a small school helps her stay close with the workforce and keep a close eye
on the engagement level of the workforce at this school. This school only has
sixteen teachers and a handful of support staff. She is able to have daily informal
interaction with each member of the staff which helps her determine if anything is
impacting their engagement. Because she knows each person and their family she
is able to know of someone in the family is ill or if other family stress may be
impacting engagement. She gets to know each person and their personalities and
opinions from talking with the staff on a daily basis. She also is able to meet on a
formal basis with each member of
Ethan Frome By Edith Wharton
Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton is set in a small New England town in the early
twentieth century. It revolves around three main characters: Ethan Frome, a rural
farmer; Zeena Frome, his chronically ill wife; and Mattie Silver, Zeena s cousin who
lives with them in a serving capacity. These characters each have their own journey
through this story, but those journeys entwine and affect everyone else with the
actions each character takes. Ethan Fromeas the title character perhaps has the most
important journey in this novel, though, and several recurring themes affect each of
his actions and decisions. Marriage, loveand desire, and desire versus duty are the
themes most guiding Ethan Frome as he works through his feelings for the two
women in his life because they define every step of his journey from beginning to end.
To begin, Ethan s unhappy marriage with Zeena is the starting point from which
all of his decisions are made. The marriage itself happened under almost false
pretenses when Zeena came to help care for his sick mother. After being in such an
oppressive, silent environment for so long, Zeena s volubility was music in his
ears, and her capable, competent attitude restored his shaken balance and
magnified his sense of what he owed her (26). This initial exposure to Zeena led
Ethan to a kind of bedazzlement, so when he saw her ready to leave after his
mother s funeral, he was seized with an unreasoning dread of being left alone on the
farm and asked her to stay
Jiebel Ali Fiz Essay
Introduction
Through partnership, Kazakhstan and China established a dry port called Khorgos
that sits on the Trans Asian railroad. This free economic zone (FEZ) is a vital
gateway of trade between the respective nations involved. Each country will invest
a combined $2.6B into the infrastructure of Khorgos FEZ. This Silk Road trade
route initiative has estimates of generating $1T annually. Similar to Jebel Ali FZE
in Dubai, Khorgos is a duty and tax free territory. This area is approximately 300
hectares, and zoning is primarily for logistics, manufacturing, and trade. By 2020,
this will be the largest dry port in the world.
The International Center for Boundary Cooperation (ICBC) was created in 2004
and opened in 2012. A new customs office was opened in August 2016 as a means
to streamline customs procedures. Since its opening in 2012, there has been an
estimated 9.46 million visitors and over $878 million worth of trade. At this phase,
the presence of luxury designers is minimal. Storefronts display signage of luxury
brands, but consumers are aware of counterfeiting. Retail boutiques lack visual
integrity and prices are displayed in various currencies.
We have bought land in Eastern Kazakhstanwithin Khorgos. The size of the land is
five hectares. An outlet luxury retail store will be erected. Our buying strategy is to
procure contracts for overrun of luxury American and European designers and resell
to the Chinese consumer. Residents in this region lack options to
Leakey Louis Seymour Research Paper
Raising funds for my fourth exposition proved to be extremely difficult. This is
one thing Leakey Louis Seymour said before he had helped discover that humans
came from evolution. Raising money was tough for him because he had taken three
trips before this and he hadn t discovered much yet, so people did not want to
support another exposition where he would find nothing. Many didn t know that he
was on his way to be a vast part in history and nobody would forget his name. In the
first place, Leakey was famous because of his discovery with Darwin that humans
came from monkeys also known as evolution. https://leakeyfoundation.org/about/the

The Runaway By Norman Rockwell
Realism art is like a photograph that allows the viewer their own interruption. Realism
was an art movement that revolted against Romanticism. Realism was after
Romanticism and before Modern Art. Realism was popular around the time of 1840
to 1880. The Romantic style of art had emotional and exaggerated themes. The
Realismpainters began to explore the reality of everyday life . Norman Rockwell a

The Catholic Church
In the history of the Catholic Church, there have been many Pontifical elections and
even more Popes serving as the head of the Catholic Church. The Papal Conclave
was introduced years after the Roman Catholic Church was established. The position
of Pope is currently occupied by His Holiness Pope Francis whose birth name is
Jorge Bergoglio. PopeFrancis assumed position in March 2013 after the
resignation of his predecessor two weeks prior. Taking into the account the history
of the Catholic Church, the Papal conclave is a relatively new concept. Before the
conclave and the College of Cardinals, choosing a new Pope was and arbitrary
process which changed with each new Papal appointment; One account of an
election in 236 noted that a dove settled on the head of Fabian, a Christian was not
even mentioned among several candidates. Fabian was chosen because the dove
was interpreted as a sign of the Holy Spirit s choice (Bellitto 110). The origins of
the conclave are traced back to 769 when it was declared that all Roman clerics
could vote for a new Pope, but were limited to the cardinals as candidates (Bellitto
110). Even then, the election of a new Pope was an exciting, public events
witnessed by hundreds of ordinary people who would watch the voting a bit like
one might a sporting event (Simpson). Before the voting process begins, the position
of the Pope, officially the Bishop of Rome, must be unoccupied, either because a
serving pontiff has passed away or has retired.
Rhetorical Devices In The Alchemist
The idea of achieving dreams or our personal legends can either help dreamers
succeed or derail. The infamous novelist, Paulo Coelho, writes a fascinating story
about a boy who follows his personal legend. Coelho s purpose for composing this
book is to teach people about following dreams. The author establishes a hopeful
tone using the rhetorical devices imagery, personification, and emotional diction to
intrigue and encourages readers. Santiago, a shepherd boy, changes his perspective
during a life changing journey. He travels across a desert in search of his treasure.
When Santiago finally reaches the end after a long journey through the desert, he
describes this perfect oasis. Coelho uses imagery to depict this vibrant and upbeat
setting... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He writes not only about Santiago s journey to discover his personal legend, but
Coelho also brings up themes of love. Santiago falls in love with an oasis woman
named Fatima. To fill the atmosphere with a positive tone, the alchemist teaches,
So, we, their hearts, speak more and more softly. We never stop speaking out, but
we begin to hope that our words won t be heard: we don t want people to suffer
because they don t follow their hearts. Why don t people s hearts tell them to
continue to follow their dreams? the boy asked the alchemist. Because that s what
makes the heart suffer most, and hearts don t like to suffer (129 131). Paulo
demonstrates emotional diction using the words, softly , suffer , and hope .With
these words and much more throughout the novel, he embodies a powerful tone yet
maintain positivity. Coelho also conveys romantic diction to display the positive
atmosphere. As Santiago falls in love with Fatima, readers she Fatima s love for
him as She would look to it everyday and would try to guess which star the boy was
following in search of his treasure. She would have to send her kisses on the wind
(123). This type of diction using the phrase send her kisses on the wind and content
empowers a hopeful tone the girl lives with the hope of the return of Santiago.
Throughout this novel, Coelho simulates not only his
Contingency Planning in Healthcare
Contingency Planning in Health Care Health care management must carry out certain
planning activities in the establishment of any new facility or process. Planning
functions to help define an organization s goals and outline steps to reach identified
objectives (Keene Auger, 2008). There are three primary kinds of organizational
planning: strategic planning for one time significant decisions that impact the culture
and direction of the facility, operational planning that is tied to the long and short
term goals of the institution and its mission, and performance planning that often
involves individual departments and staff members. Another, often overlooked area
is contingency planning. Contingency planning considers unwanted or unintended
events that could have the ability to impact an organization s functioning (Carlson,
2010). Contingency plans help to mitigate certain risks. The contingency center is
the backup plan in the event of a disaster. A disaster can be man made (i.e.,
explosion, terrorism, accidents, power outages, etc.) or natural (i.e., storms, tornados,
etc.). In healthcare organizations such as hospitals and outpatient surgical center,
disasters can be especially damaging. For instance, during Hurricane Katrina in
New Orleans many patients were required to be moved due to the severity of the
storm. If proper contingency plans were in place prior to the disaster, there could
have procedures for moving patients once a city wide evacuation notice was

Collin Powell Essay
Secretary of State Colin Luther Powell served as national security adviser to
President Ronald Reagan, and under President George Bush became the first African
American to serve as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (1989 1993). In 2001 the
U.S. Senate confirmed him as the Secretary of State.
Colin Luther Powell was born in Harlem, New York City on April 5, 1937, the son
of a shipping clerk and a seamstress, both of whom were immigrants from Jamaica.
Powell spent most of his childhood in the South Bronx, then regarded as a step up
from Harlem. Despite the urgings of his parents that he should quot;strive for a good
education quot; in order to quot;make something quot; of his life, Powell remained an
ordinary student throughout high ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After additional service in Washington and an assignment as a brigade commander in
the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, Powell returned to
Washington in the late 1970s, attaining the rank of major general and holding
advisory posts in the Pentagon and briefly in the Department of Energy. He next
served at Fort Carson, Colorado, and at Fort Leavenworth before becoming military
assistant to Weinberger, then secretaryof defense in the Reagan administration, in
1983. While Powell was assisting Weinberger, the National SecurityCouncil (NSC)
began looking at the possibility of sending American missiles to Iran in the hope of
expediting the release of American hostages in the Middle East and turned to Powell
to provide certain information about the missiles desired by Iran. Powell complied
but subsequently questioned the scheme in writing, reminding the NSC leadership
that there was a legal obligation to inform Congress of the proposed arms transfer.
When it was pointed out that the plan had presidential authorization, Powell did what
was requested of him. The illegal missile transfer was later exposed as a key element
in the controversial Iran Contra scandal. Powell s demonstrated record of opposition
to the illegality of the transfer and his excellent demeanor in testifying before

Identity Theft Among Children Research Paper
Although explicit content, cyber bullying, and depression all cause considerable
complications for children, one of the most pressing matters that the internet
introduces is privacy. The invasion of privacy on the internet is a serious hazard for
anyone because it is relatively simple for an unknown individual to obtain personal
information and there can be so many different outcomes, such as identity theft,
stalking, or even abduction. Furthermore, Sadbury Patch states that it is especially
easy for a child experience a breach in privacy. Their statistics show that there are
over 500,000 predators online every day , more than 50 percent of victims of online
sexual exploitation are 12 15 years old , and that 4% of young kids under 10 get...

This is one of the easiest ways for any person to experience identity theft. The
reason behind this is that the personal information that one posts is available
anyone to see. An unknown internet user does not need to know how to hack into
a website to steal valuable information the way he would need to in order to steal a
credit card number. When an individual posts their birthday, their place of
employment, or their address, it is visible to everyone. Children are especially
susceptible to this form of identity theft. The vast majority of adults know what is
safe and acceptable to post online. A child who just got her first social media
account may not know the dangers of posting private information online yet. She
may not expect anyone other than her friends is able to see what she posts. Not to
mention that it is not even just personal information that is easily stolen over the
social media anymore. It is becoming increasingly simple to obtain passwords from
careless social media patrons. This is why internetmatters.com encourages parents to
inform their kids about privacy settings on social media. For without the use privacy
enabler, stolen information over social media can lead to bullying, blackmail, or
identity theft that most will most likely not be discovered until early
Raphael Research Paper
The Pre Raphaelites were a seven rebellious artists in London who wanted to create
new art. The pre Raphaelites Brotherhood were; William Holman Hunt, John Everett
Millais, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, William Michael Rossetti, James Collinson, Frederic
George Stephens and Thomas Woolner. They detested another artist s work that, at the
time went by the name Raphael(Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino), hence the name Pre
Raphaelites. However, society in the Victorian period adored Raphael and his work
and many other artists copied his style of art. This meant that people despised the
Pre Raphaelites work and they found it to be outrageous. In the Victorian era,
artwork was based on religion and realism. People were painted like they wanted to

At first, they were not accepted into their world of art and their work was found
disgraceful and shocking. As they saw themselves as Avant garde leaders and aimed
to start a revolution and rebel against the Royal Academy regulations and standards,
by doing things like humanizing the holy family, displaying affection bluntly between
couples and painting exactly what they saw without any modification in their
paintings. All of these things were found open majorly in the Victorian era.
However, as time went on people began to accept Impressionism and the Pre
Raphaelites. Both groups had a interesting but different ways of responding to the
19th Century life style and introducing their art. The biggest difference being the
context of their painting because even though both groups wanted to make a
difference in art they executed their plans differently. However, there were many
similarities between them as well one of them being their response to religion which
that they didn t present it to be as magnificent as other artists in the 19th Century.
However, they were in the time of the Renaissance (the re birth) and many people
started to think in a new way and the Pre Raphaelites and the Impressionist were
groups who done just
Sherman Alexie s Life
When reading multiple stories from different authors it gives the reader a variety of
opportunities to connect with the author s. It helps the reader better understand
what they are reading. I personally connected with two different authors . My
personal upbringing had a tremendous impact on mine, Joe Wilkins, and Sherman
Alexie life. It has molded me into the person I am today, but has not limited me in
the possibilities for the future. My parents were uneducated and never attend
college. My father didn t graduate high school he dropped out at the age of sixteen.
He worked full time. My parents got married at the age of nineteen. Which was very
young. My mom had her first child, at the age of eighteen which was with my oldest
sister Rashel.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It can either be a positive outcome, or negative outcome. My personal upbringing
played a positive role in my life. It motivated me to push myself and try to become
something better. My parent s struggles motivated me and showed me that there
are different out comes in life. I should learn from their mistakes. Don t let
something as little as racial profiling stop you from achieving something great.
Don t let your upbringing determine your limitations. Sherman Alexie who is
Indian and was expected to fail in education became a writer. He is trying to make
a difference in his community. He is trying to teach them that there is more to life.
Joe Wilkins came from a farm and a hard working family. He didn t follow the
footsteps of his parents, and end up on a farm. He became a writer and strived for
something better. Reading their experiences didn t just make me realize the
connection in my life, but also motivated me as
Sin Nombre Essay
American filmmaker, screenwriter, producer, and cinematographer, Cary Fukunaga,
shoots beautifully and proves not only to have an eye for detail, but also that he s
a director with no defined bounds or roots. He quickly got recognition with his first
feature length film, Sin Nombre , which addressed a particular universe pelted with
ruthless gangs, set near the Mexican US border. His sophomore feature, Jane Eyre ,
was a well succeeded adaptation of Charlotte Bronte s classic novelof the same name.
This year, he brings us the wilder Beasts of No Nation , a movie centered in an
untold African country where a young boy, Agu (Abraham Attah), who lost his
family when his village was taken by the army, falls in the hands of the rebels,
becoming a brainwashed, highly trained fighter alienated by war, misery, and his own
thirst of revenge. This tale, an adaptation of Nigerian Uzodinma Iweala s debut...

Agu looks at his prepotent Commandant (Idris Elba) as a sort of a father. On the one
hand, he really wants to follow him, but on the other, he feels something s wrong
since a father shouldn t act like a mad man, initiating him into drugs, sex, and often
ordering him to kill innocent people. Despite the astonishing cinematography, Mr.
Fukunaga, whose camera moves adroitly in accordance to the more or less
boisterous situations, should have let the images talk more by themselves. Too
many explanations are given in the form of Agu s thoughts and that frequency
interrupts a handful of interesting visual sequences. In truth, there s nothing really
new in this tale that we haven t seen before for instance, in the more absorbing War
Witch or the chaotic Johnny Mad Dog . Struggling to put every little piece together
in a calibrated way, Beasts of No Nation is a so so war drama that happens to be
fascinating for its imagery rather than for the additional ways found to express its
brutal
Different Political Views
People today can choose from various news outlets to inform themselves about
current events in their area and the world around them. Just by focusing on the
major powerhouse networks that most American watch you can see now each
differs from one another. This is due to each network having different political
views and sometimes only showing news that support their views on certain
subjects. They as well try to be different from other news networks by being
different in their overall tone, style and what they put emphasis on. The most popular
news networks in the U.S. at the moment are Fox News, ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN,
and MSNBC each having their own unique way of delivering their news and opinions
to us. The main thing that would make all these... Show more content on

What these news networks for most of the time base how they would write a
certain article or give an opinion about a certain subject. A liberal would believe in
government regulating the economy, the U.N. leading U.S. military actions, using
eminent domain for private gun, banning the use of guns, taxpayers funding
government charities, and selected minorities get special treatment. These are only
a couple of the varying views that liberals have that would make up a liberal. A
conservative on the other hand would believe in the government regulating
morality, national building, war on drugs, the USA Patriot Act, which basically
protect U.S. citizens from terrorism, taxpayer money funding faith based charities,
and special treatment for selected corporations are what made this political view
so different. Then finally there is the inbetweener in the two which is the
libertarian view which takes points between the two political views and makes a
entirely new view. The libertarian takes things from the liberal side by having
personal freedom, non interventional foreign policy, tolerance of other s personal
choices, civil liberties and privacy, separation of church and state, and ending
corporate welfare. It has also taken points from the conservative side supporting
economic freedom, a strong national defence, respecting other s property rights,
individual rights to keep and bear arms, giving generously to those in need, and
advancement based on individual ability. This is just the bare minimum of what
each political view is made to be because from these views newscasters and the news
networks themselves stick to one political view and stick to

  • 2. Florida Recruit Case Study Florida Recruiting: Inaugural Early Signing Day Preview Tomorrow marks the first early signing period for college football recruits. Prospects from around the country will be shutting down their recruitment processes, signing, and early enrolling to their program of choice. Dan Mullen was introduced as the 27th head coach in Florida Gators history just three weeks prior to the inaugural signing period. Despite seven de commitments from the Gators 2018 recruiting class since the arrival of Mullen, this staff have put themselves in a position to close out the early signing period with a profusion of momentum. Florida has several prominent prospects that could find themselves in the #AllBite18 class on Wednesday and Armchair examines the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The opportunity of playing time awaits Jones in Gainesville and many believe he will sign his letter of intent to the Gators on Wednesday. Prediction: Florida DB Trey Dean (Hampton, Ga.) Dean is another big time prospect that seems to be eyeing the Gators more than other programs. Dean de committed from the Tennessee Volunteers two weeks ago, and ever since, the Gators have made a pursuit at landing the nations 22nd ranked safety. Dean (6 foot 2, 180 pounds) is a long, athletic defensive back that possesses tremendous football IQ. His length at defensive back benefits him in jump ball situations, allowing him to make a play on the ball at its highest point. Following an official visit to the Gators this past weekend, I expect Florida to seal the deal with Dean. Florida also recently hired the Volunteers defensive back coach from a season ago (Dean s former coach he committed to), making the pitch to Dean much easier. Dean would be the fourth safety prospect to sign for the Gators on Wednesday. The staff made this unit a priority on the trail and it will pay off during the inaugural early signing

  • 4. The Swot Analysis And Summaries Of The SWOT Analysis Section 2: SWOT Analysis The theory of the SWOT analyses The SWOT analysis aims to provide a short overview of a business s current strategic situation by analyzing its internal factors, being strengths and weaknesses, alongside its external factors that might have an impact on the businesses strategic choices, being the entity s opportunities and threats (Anja BГ¶hm, 2009: 1). The SWOT analysis is ultimately a tool which is used to analyze a business s current situation in the market place and aims to identify a strategy for successful development using the overlap between the internal and external factors. The acronym SWOT simply stands for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (Nadine Pahl Anne Richter, 2009: 27). Strengths ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the major limitations is that it doesn t offer any end solutions to develop a business s strategic plans, but rather forms part of the process, as depicted in the above Diagram 1. It only acts as a tool to help a business with their strategic decisions, and cannot produce the final decision by itself. A full SWOT analysis often ends up producing long extensive lists of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats which are not arranged in any particular way that could reflect priorities. It does not rank the factors by importance. This can be a problem because some effects of certain threats/weaknesses can be more serious and harmful to the businesses competitive advantage than others but the SWOT analysis does not make this clear. It doesn t highlight or single out any of the more important strengths and opportunities and this can sometimes lead to favorable opportunities being lost among other mediocre ones. One of the problems that often arises when conducting a SWOT analysis is that the same factor could be placed in two different categories. This problem of ambiguity can cause disputes and confusion. An example of this would be locating a retail store on the high upmarket streets of a big city. This is a strength as it puts the store out there to lots of potential customers, but the weakness to this is that it would have very high
  • 5. The Significance Of Nature In William Wordsworth By... As time passes it is said that the human race becomes less aware of nature around them and more consumed with the things produced by man. The romantic poet William Wordsworth saw the cultural decline and as the literary critic Harold Bloom stated, The fear of mortality haunts much of Wordsworth s best poetry, especially in regard to the premature mortality of the imagination and the loss of creative joy. This statement greatly reflects the views of Wordsworth, whose poetry conveys the warning of a man asking those enveloped in the worldto step back and recognize the beauty and miracles of nature. A few of the texts in which this warning of Wordsworth s is very potent include Tinturn Abbey, The Prelude , The World Is Too Much With Us, and London, 1802. These works all include a reference to the fall or the cultural decline of the people in the world, especially those he sees around himself. The amazing gift of nature is the blessing Wordsworth sees and wishes for those around him to recognize the issue is often the plain, everyday miracles of the world are overlooked because of the material things human possess more and more of each day. The statement made by Bloom is a very accurate one as Wordsworth does wish to push the world back into a respect for the beauty and blessing of nature. The application of Wordsworth s call back to nature is seen in his poem Tinturn Abbey, as he recalls the happiness brought to him in his youth by the peace and beauty of the area.
  • 6. Meaning Of Heroism Heroes can be found everywhere in the world. Some can be found in real life, such as Abraham Lincoln, the sixteenth president of the United Sates who led the Union in the war against slavery, and successfully abolished. Others are found stories known by many people, such as Cinderella, who overcame challenges with a kind heart and good deeds. Although heroes are found all over the world in both real life and imagination, what about them makes them heroic? One individual named Oliver Stone, believes that being a heroinvolves becoming a better person and that the traits of a hero are seen everywhere, all the time, unnoticed. For example, Abraham Lincoln, as previously stated, was the sixteenth president of the United States for leading the Union to victory against the legality of slavery. In a sermon, Dr. Phineas D. Gurley, a former pastor of the New York Avenue Presbyterian Church and Chaplain of the U.S. Senate, stated, He is dead; but the memory of his virtues, of his wise and patriotic counsels and labors, of his calm and steady faith in God lives, is precious, and will be a power for good in the country quite down to the end of time (Gurley, 1865). The phrase, power for good in the country quite down to the end of time and the fact that Abraham Lincoln was a president of the U.S., influences people to assume that being famous means that you are a hero. However, a closer look at the quote shows that the memory of his virtues and his wise and patriotic counsels and labors is what led to Lincoln being deemed a hero. The quote does not specify that being the president of the U.S. was what made Lincoln a hero. Thus, being a hero does not mean being famous or being well known and is, on the contrary, about what a person does. While the traits and qualities of a hero are well distinguished from ones that are not,
  • 7. Daughters Of Eve By Margaret King Summary The excerpt Daughters of Eve from Renaissance Woman by Margaret King describes a period between 1350 and 1650. King s focus is on Western and Southern Europe, with particular emphasis on England and Florence, but with information from other regions of Italy, France and Germany. King is interested in the lives of women during this period, and the expectations, cultural practices and social mores which defined and constructed the feminine identity of the time. In the first section of the book entitled, Daughters of Eve , King begins by exploring the role of religion in framing the acceptable roles for women. At the time Europe was mainly Christian, with exceptions of regions of the Balkans, some islands of the Mediterranean and Iberia. Thus, the primary cultural references used in the society of the time relate to key figures from Christianity, and, with regard to femininity, the major figures employed were the Virgin Mary and Eve. Essentially they are the key do and don t role models the Bible provides. The first is exalted for her role as the mother... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Reading about the endless death that characterized the lives of women during this period, dread of their own death, anguish at the deaths of their children, was particularly hard to deal with, but it is necessary. It paints a powerful and intense picture of the experiences of the time, and the distance between that time period and our own. I believe the book is also useful and important for the theory and thesis it propounds, that women are placed within a system of power which they did not create and which does not always value them. The women of the Renaissance endured lives of pain and repression, any other forms of existence were deviations from the norms imposed upon them. This does not make the book easy to read, but it does make it important, perhaps even
  • 8. Comparison Of Minnelli And Jacques Demy s Les Demoiselles... Jacques Demy s Les Demoiselles de Rochefort is a whirlwind of color, light, joy, design, and music. It s a visual tour de force, a treat for the eyes. It s also similar, in many respects, to the work of Vincente Minnelli. Minnelli, especially with his musicals, carefully designed every little detail. For him, the mise en scene was paramount, so much so that character development would be expressed through the scenery. For example, Gene Kelly literally brings color wherever he goes in American in Paris. In Minnelli s world, the worst thing a character can do is bring ugliness. Beauty was key. But that s not to say that Minnelli s films were light and fluffy. Even his airier films, like The Pirate, had tonal complexity. Demy s musical world is also highly stylized and designed. Everything looks extremely artificial and character joy matches their outfits. But it s not completely the same to Minnelli s world. For one, this musical is very happy. Cares and worries are taken away through musical numbers. Characters have a formal idea of the perfect man or woman. But Demy still manages to achieve tonal complexity, just in a slightly weirder way. Compare Rochefort to American in Paris. Both films are stunningly beautiful. American in Paris plot is very light, allowing the relationship between Gene Kelly and Leslie Caron to be explored. The plot s also kept light to make room for the extended ballet sequence at the end. However, compared to Rochefort, the plot of American in

Adaptive Leaders Adaptive Leaders Over the years, there have been many brave men and women serving in the military, but there will always be those service members who go beyond their piers to accomplish the mission, those individuals are adaptive leaders. In the following paragraphs, we will discuss, what is an adaptive leader and who can we consider among the many to be a good example of an adaptive leader. Also, what are the characteristics of an adaptive leader, and how do you mentor or shape adaptive leaders, to make this Battalion better. The key to change is an adaptive leader. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As history has taught us an Army at war is stretched and stressed in some cases similarly to a rubber band ready to break. In today s Army we have a large number of Officers and Non Commissioned Officers who have learned or have been taught to be comfortable with ambiguity, complexity, and change. While we do not appear much different than our predecessors we carry our wisdom and savvy that can only be gained from our obstacles experienced through multiple deployments fighting an enemy hidden within the cities, intermixed with innocent civilians, and no distinctive means of recognition. We have faced variables that constantly change noted throughout our military history such as; weather, terrain, civilian population, ever evolving enemy, and different dynamics. To continuously improve the leaders today in adaptability we need to be constantly tested, and pushed to our limits in order to overcome our impasse. Through my research on developing adaptive leaders I have found a statement from a former Chief of Staff of the Army General Eric Shinseki and he set the stage for change by chartering the Army Training and Leader Development Panel (ATLDP) in his anticipation
  • 10. The Problem Of Criminal Behavior Among Juveniles It is the family that prepares the child for life outside of the home. Certain lifestyles, such as, conflict either between the parents or between the child and the parent(s) may lead to a negative ways in the child s actions by fighting, blaming each other and avoiding responsibilities (Angenent and de Man 1996:95). This is known to lead to the child becoming involved with gangs in an effort to replace the relationships that is missing within their family. As this behavior continues and the child becomes more involved with gangs the less likely they will maintain norms imposed upon them by their family and instead engage in criminal behavior (Angenent and de Man 1996:97). Unfortunately, this type of behavior only leads to time spent in juvenile detention. And sadly among the youths, recidivismcontinues to be a huge problem. One could only wonder what is in place to help decrease the repetition of criminal behavior among juveniles? In this research they examined the provision of behavioral health services to youths detained in Indiana between 2008 and 2012 and the impact of services on recidivism. For the purpose of the research study, they defined recidivism as a new arrest charge within 12 months after release from a youth s first detention stay (Aalsma). Juvenile detention centers are meant to be short term holding facilities to meet the physical and behavioral health needs of the child. They are not to provide rehabilitation or long term treatment to a child.
  • 11. Life And Debt Neocolonialism as defined by Sandra Halperin, is the control of less developed countries by developed countries through indirect means. These means mainly include economic, political, and cultural pressures to influence the continued dependency of former colonies creating a colonial like exploitation. Stephen Black, director of Life and Debt documentary, portrays this concept by using the International Monetary Fundand the World Bank s influence on the Jamaican economy. In this response I will be focusing on the different aspects of neo colonialismin relation to leadership portrayed in the film Life and Debt. To begin with, Culture is the most common aspect of neo colonialism that has been prevalent in today s era as it is directly linked to the economy in numerous countries. In the movie Life Debt, the culture of Jamaica is viewed as both an aspect of entertainment and identity. Due to the policies that govern trade imposed by the IMF, the agriculture culture can be disseminated as citizens by cheaper imported food rather than local more expensive food. Based on this example one can see that it is the case in most third world countries. For example, in 2016, South Africa was encouraged to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Life Debt, we see that as a Jamaica starts to gain ground against the IMF, it is pushed back such as the use of Free Trade Zones to provide employment while workers are paid less. In a similar context, the late Thomas Sankara was betrayed by his companion, Blaise CompaorГ©, president of Burkina Faso from 1987 to 2014, who was supported by the French government as they attempted to counter Sankara s visionary attempts on creating a better Bukina Faso. Such political influence on the country leadership is a linchpin in every government as their attempts to recover are always thwarted by foreign

Why is it only crazy if people are spending so much money on their pets and not the other things they waste their money on ? More and more animals each day are injured , diagnosed , with brutal injuries. An average American spends over a billion each year at the vet for their pet. That s three times as much as the federal government spends on welfare grants. The risk possible is a mixture of the likelihood when could an accident happen with the severity what could result if an accident did happen. Once the risk potential has been identified, it will allow you to decide whether you have taken adequate (reasonable practicable) precaution or whether you need to do more to prevent harm. (Boyle, Tony (2008) Health and Safety: Risk Management,) Risk assessment is an integral part of any Health and Safety management system. Hazard identification does not end with the initial investigation. Hazard identification should be regarded as an ongoing process. In general, the legal requirement is for hazard recognition to be undertaken; before and during the introduction of new work systems, plant and chemicals to the workplace; any alteration or change in the work place and where new information on hazards or control measures becomes available. A risk management matrix is a tool that can be used to assess a risk by evaluating a hazard s likelihood of occurring and its potential consequences. This will assist in identifying and prioritize hazards and implementation of controls. When conducting a risk assessment the employer must consider the employees under his control and the general public which his business could affect (OSH Act part II; sec. 6, 7, 8, 9, 10). An important issue to consider is the people who will be exposed to risks from hazards, and how any individual characteristics may impact on exposure. Gathering this information at the hazard identification stage will assist with the risk assessment efforts. In most cases, those affected will be the people involved in the tasks. During hazard identification people issues such as any special characteristics which should be taken into account for example, inexperience, age, gender, chemical susceptibility and ergonomic issues. • 15. Rhetoric Of Pericles Funeral Oration Pericles Funeral Oration Analysis Pericles, as we know, was an exceeding leader and statesmen for most of Athen s reign during the 5th century B.C.E. He was an extremely successful man, and well rounded in many aspects of Athenian leadership. He wasn t just a statesman for Athens, he was a persuasive politician, glorified military leader, and filled with boastful patriotism towards Athens. It was common ritual for speeches to be given to the survived families of the fallen after war, but Pericles take on the speech was a little different than the ordinary. Pericles focused greatly on the significance of a democratic government. His goal was to raise the spirits of the fallen soldiers families , and build patriotism in their hearts to get them motivated to fight for their freedom in Athens. Pericles was a very persuasive speaker, and his Funeral Oration speech was indeed successful in its mission: convince the people that the fallen soldiers shouldn t be mourned, but rather raise their patriotism and to follow in the footsteps of the fallen, and to fight for their honor, freedom, and democracyas a whole. Pericles speech was not a lie, but rather a persuasive and manipulative speech to capture the fallen spirits during a tough time of war. The speech wins the people in the crowd over with a sense of pride over Athens. Their democratic republic was a unique government for their time, and Pericles takes advantage of his words by proclaiming, Our constitution does not copy the laws of neighbouring states; we are rather a pattern to others than imitators ourselves. This statement reminds the people of Athens that their community is different than the surrounding nations, and that they should be proud of where they have gotten. A hint of direction comes into play, though, when Pericles goes on to say, If we look to the laws, they afford equal justice to all in their private differences...nor again does poverty bar the way, if a man is able to serve the state, he is not hindered by the obscurity of his condition. Comparing this statement to the laws of the Spartans, it increases even further the sense of patriotism that Pericles is trying to raise within the crowd. With the Spartans government being very

There may be some disagreements on which issue is more important than the rest. Which leads to the most important topic in life, education. At a young age, we are enrolled in schoolfrom kindergarten to senior year of high school. When you hit high school you are preparing for your future; attending college, joining the work force, the military, etc. However, one thing seems to go unnoticed, this is the notion that a young ones career as a student is simply molded when they are in their elementary years. This now leads to the topic of this essay; Jonathan Kozol s book and his research on students from the inner city. It appears that Jonathan Kozol took the organization of his book very seriously. In fact, I believe that his book was organized very well. When it comes to the type of organization used, deciding which was used is ultimately up to the reader. Personally, I believe that Kozol used topical organization. The reason being is that each chapter had a different topic with an underlying message. Although at points it may have seemed that he was listing everything in chronological order, Kozol stuck with the examples that were relevant to the theme of that individual chapter. If Kozol were to use another form of organization, chronological perhaps, his book would not be much different. I feel that is he were to use this form, his powerful

  • 20. Personification In The Three Ravens The Three Ravens is an english folk ballad, which was first printed in a song book Melismata compiled by Thomas Ravenscroft. It was published in the year 1611. It is a ballad about three ravens who take up a scavenger bird conversation about where and what they should eat for breakfast that morning. In the ballad The Three Ravens Thomas Ravenscroft uses personification and colourful imagery to discuss the ballad, and in the ballad the reader is led to expect something, but we discover a whole new theme in the ballad which is very interesting to know about. And the Thomas Ravenscroft uses a non scavenger as a scavenger bird in the ballad. There were three ravens that sat on a tree. (Ravenscroft,Thomas, The Three Ravens (1611) Ballad provided by the instructor). According to the poet he says that there were three ravens who sat on a tree They were as black as they might be. (Ravenscroft,Thomas, The Three Ravens (1611) Ballad provided by the instructor). As we all know that all ravens are black. When one of the raven asks the other ravens what is their breakfast for today. Down in yonder green fields, There lies a knight slain under his shield. (Ravenscroft,Thomas, The Three Ravens (1611) Ballad provided by the instructor). one of the raven tells the other ravens that our breakfast is the green field, were lies a knight who is dead. And the knight is being guarded by a shield. In this ballad the ravens are considered as scavengers which is wrong, because as we all people know that ravens are not scavengers and they mostly feed other small insects and worms and they also feed on eggs of other smaller birds. In this ballad The Three Ravens the ravens are considered as wild birds who feed on dead organisms. But ravens as we know are not tame animals as they do not welcome any human presence near them but they also do not depend on dead meat as given in the ballad. In the Ballad The Three Ravens the ravens are mostly given a character that is suitable for a scavenger like vulture. Down there comes a fallow doe, As great with your as she might go. (Ravenscroft,Thomas, The Three Ravens (1611) Ballad provided by the instructor). Now in the ballad there is a magical touch where there is a lady who is

At that time I was a passionate writer who loved overanalyzing the small details of what I was writing (as I still am today), so such an assignment was perfectly tailored to my interests. It was the embodiment of everything that most non hobbyist writers hated and that I loved, and an opportunity for me to stand out among a crowd of less than average performances. Today, when reading what was supposed to be one of those average essays, I realized that being able to accurately sketch and describe every last detail of a potatodoes not make for an engaging paper. Or, well, I already knew this, but the desire to write anything more than that hadn t clicked. Despite supposedly being excited about the project, I only began working on the second and final day. A part of me wondered why it always felt like I was rushing to finish my papers, before promptly realizing that I had decided to take a summer class. I began to regret life. However, this would not deter me from the initial passion I had for examining my potato just the day before, as indicated by my original paper entry which read: assignment given, filled with excitement at the prospect of describing the intimate details of my potato, who I have decided to name Winston . The characteristics of brick walls are strong, firm and robust which is ironic, as the wall in the cartoon is shown curved and deteriorating. Another element of irony in the cartoon is the representation of Palmer as Humpty as Humpty Dumpty is interpreted as a kind figure worthy of assistance as the most known iteration of the rhyme states that all the king s horses and all the king s men couldn t put humpty together again (Wikipedia, 2015). This is ironic as multiple reports state that members of the PUP abandoned the party due to the mistreatment by Palmer. (theage, businessinsider, 2015) Within the cartoon, Leahy has provoked the thought of irony, while simultaneously displaying parody. Parody, the final satirical device, has been deployed by Leahy to further ridicule the PUP. The artwork is a parody of Humpty Dumpty. Having Palmer as Humpty falling off the brick wall has represented the nursery rhyme. However in this iteration of Humpty Dumpty the brick wall is crumbling with him, ridiculing the fact that most of his political party have separated to become independent politicians, due to Palmers actions. Pollution from said burning occurs as greenhouse gases and chemicals. Specifically, petroleum based fuels, natural gases, and coal release energy when heat breaks the bonds between hydrogens and carbons, generating energy and releasing carbon dioxide and water as byproducts. This energy often originates from stored energy preserved in organisms that eventually died and lingered in the crust. The byproduct carbon dioxide is the most dominant of the greenhouse gases, which are gases that absorb and release thermal energy from the Sun. These gases trap thermal energy in the atmosphere while releasing a small amount into space. Global warming occurs due to the trapping of this heat. Their covering of the sky and Sun reduces the amount of sunlight that can reach the Earth. In addition, these energy sources are also bulky and inefficient. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (2014), producing even one kilowatt hour of energy (one kilowatt of electricity expended in one hour), 0.08 gallons of petroleum based fuel, 1000 cubic feet of natural gases, and 1.09 pounds of coal ( How much coal, natural gas, or petroleum is used to generate a kilowatt hour 1 of electricity? ). Despite the availability of alternative energy sources, most people prefer these dirty energy sources. Solar power shows promise as a potential alternative.

  • 31. Analysis of Empress Myeongseong As a Hero Empress Myeongseong as a Hero The question as to what defines a true hero dates back to the beginning of humanity itself. Throughout man s existence on the earth, times of struggle and tribulation have often resulted in individuals or groups facing periods of trial, violence, or duress. In these situations, a select few individuals have risen to leadership to assist in times of hardship, establishing their place as a hero within the pages of human history. However, in viewing these heroes and in taking a deeper look into their own subjective histories, one can immediately see that these individuals come from different backgrounds, social standing, periods in time, geographic location only to name a few. What then, unifies these individuals under the umbrella term of hero? Professor James Castagnera notes that the world s idea of a hero is, any person admired for couragenobility, or exploits, especially in war, or any person admired for qualities or achievements and regarded as an ideal or model (Castagnera 1). In this sense, it can be understood that to be a true hero, one must rise to a place of high regard amongst the individuals one interacts with. Regardless of cultural differences amongst the world s heroes, this unifying factor is what continuously links these individuals, and has done so for ages. Such reverence for a hero can be seen in viewing the story of Empress Myeongseong of Korea, whose works and contributions to the Koren people have placed her amongst

First, in the 3rd line, it states, Charged with their children, and chief lords rent, which is implying that they must pay for their children and also pay or rent the land that they live on which is granted to them by the lords. In line 4 it states, What by spinning they save, they spend it in house hire. This is stating that the peasants would have to also pay for their houses damages while being stressed by all the other cluttered things they must pay for. Beyond the question of the rank, West expounds upon controversies about the nature, purpose, substance, ability, activity, and humanity of angels throughout every age of history from the Greek and Roman empires to Milton s seventeenth century England to both contextualize the book s subject for readers and to illuminate the significance and depth behind John Milton s own literary representation of angels. In chapters six and seven, West introduces Milton s angelology and examines the choices he makes throughout his literature to maintain a specific representation of the angels and other supernatural subjects. Specifically, West identifies three problems Milton had to overcome in writing Paradise Lost, which involved balancing the need for literary description with the strict, biblical interpretation of angels hailed in Puritanism, deciding which opinions on angelology could be used to truthfully deduce the needed level of description, and broadly,

  • 40. Ethan Frome By Edith Wharton Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton is set in a small New England town in the early twentieth century. It revolves around three main characters: Ethan Frome, a rural farmer; Zeena Frome, his chronically ill wife; and Mattie Silver, Zeena s cousin who lives with them in a serving capacity. These characters each have their own journey through this story, but those journeys entwine and affect everyone else with the actions each character takes. Ethan Fromeas the title character perhaps has the most important journey in this novel, though, and several recurring themes affect each of his actions and decisions. Marriage, loveand desire, and desire versus duty are the themes most guiding Ethan Frome as he works through his feelings for the two women in his life because they define every step of his journey from beginning to end. To begin, Ethan s unhappy marriage with Zeena is the starting point from which all of his decisions are made. The marriage itself happened under almost false pretenses when Zeena came to help care for his sick mother. After being in such an oppressive, silent environment for so long, Zeena s volubility was music in his ears, and her capable, competent attitude restored his shaken balance and magnified his sense of what he owed her (26). This initial exposure to Zeena led Ethan to a kind of bedazzlement, so when he saw her ready to leave after his mother s funeral, he was seized with an unreasoning dread of being left alone on the farm and asked her to stay

Planning functions to help define an organization s goals and outline steps to reach identified objectives (Keene Auger, 2008). There are three primary kinds of organizational planning: strategic planning for one time significant decisions that impact the culture and direction of the facility, operational planning that is tied to the long and short term goals of the institution and its mission, and performance planning that often involves individual departments and staff members. Another, often overlooked area is contingency planning. Contingency planning considers unwanted or unintended events that could have the ability to impact an organization s functioning (Carlson, 2010). Contingency plans help to mitigate certain risks. What these news networks for most of the time base how they would write a certain article or give an opinion about a certain subject. A liberal would believe in government regulating the economy, the U.N. leading U.S. military actions, using eminent domain for private gun, banning the use of guns, taxpayers funding government charities, and selected minorities get special treatment. These are only a couple of the varying views that liberals have that would make up a liberal. A conservative on the other hand would believe in the government regulating morality, national building, war on drugs, the USA Patriot Act, which basically protect U.S. citizens from terrorism, taxpayer money funding faith based charities, and special treatment for selected corporations are what made this political view so different. Then finally there is the inbetweener in the two which is the libertarian view which takes points between the two political views and makes a entirely new view. The libertarian takes things from the liberal side by having personal freedom, non interventional foreign policy, tolerance of other s personal choices, civil liberties and privacy, separation of church and state, and ending corporate welfare. It has also taken points from the conservative side supporting economic freedom, a strong national defence, respecting other s property rights, individual rights to keep and bear arms, giving generously to those in need, and advancement based on individual ability. This is just the bare minimum of what each political view is made to be because from these views newscasters and the news networks themselves stick to one political view and stick to
