The problem within the work unit is that we tend to be complacent and sees things
as they are and not as they could be. The Agency s mission is To responsibly
provide access to quality health coverage for vulnerable Mississippians. In order to
accurately carry out this mission, the Office of Appeals needs to aggressively keep
up with advances in technology (i.e. computer application and software), and eagerly
embrace new found ways of ensuring that our clients receive information and

create, and then recommend implementing a new communication record for tracking
beneficiaries and clients request for a state eligibility hearing. Each record will be
assigned an appeal number that would allow us to track the case from receipt through

To date, the Office of Appeals is utilizing an Excel spreadsheetto record and track
incoming requests (See Attachment I). The spreadsheet displays data in text and
numbers, which allows sorting and calculations. The problem with the spreadsheet is
it does not effectively provide electronic tracking of incoming eligibility appeal
requests from the Agency s thirty (30) regional offices. Also, the problem is that the
