Essay Introduction Example
Crafting an essay on the topic "Essay Introduction Example" might seem deceptively
straightforward at first glance. After all, the task appears to involve merely presenting an
example of an essay introduction. However, as any seasoned writer will attest, the simplicity of
the topic can be misleading.
To begin with, the challenge lies in avoiding banality. One might be tempted to provide a
clichГ©d or overly generic introduction, falling into the trap of producing something that fails to
engage the reader. Striking the right balance between being captivating and informative requires
a nuanced approach, involving careful consideration of language, tone, and overall structure.
Furthermore, there's the task of catering to a diverse audience. An effective introduction should
be accessible to readers with varying levels of familiarity with the subject matter. Achieving this
balance requires a thorough understanding of the topic and the ability to convey key ideas
without overwhelming or alienating the audience.
Another obstacle is the need for originality. Crafting an essay introduction that stands out from
the multitude of similar pieces demands a creative spark. This involves thinking outside the
conventional boundaries and infusing a personal touch or unique perspective to capture the
reader's attention.
Additionally, the process of refining and revising cannot be overlooked. A well-crafted
introduction often emerges through multiple iterations. This means investing time and effort in
reviewing, revising, and polishing the content to ensure clarity, coherence, and effectiveness.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the seemingly straightforward topic of "Essay Introduction
Example" is, in fact, a challenging endeavor. It requires a delicate balance of creativity,
accessibility, and originality, coupled with the diligence to revise and refine until the desired
quality is achieved.

Examples Of Betrayal In Uglies By Scott Westerfeld
How would someone feel if they have known someone their entire life and all of a
sudden they turn their back on them? Tally Youngblood managed to hurt Shay,
Corey, and Paris s feelings in the book, Uglies, by Scott Westerfeld. Tally struggles
to decide what to do when faced with difficult decisions and this causes her to have a
weaker relationship with her friends. Being betrayed is what many characters
experience throughout Uglies. This theme is relevant throughout the book, because
everyone that runs into Tally ends up being betrayed by her in some way. Tally
just wants to become a pretty like everyone else when they turn sixteen and has the
operation done. When reaching the age to become pretty she ends up being
disloyal to her friends and Dr. Cable. Tally wants to be with her best friend Peris
again, and to do that, he tells her to stay out of trouble until after she turns pretty.
Instead, she gets herself into a disaster with Shay and breaks the promise she made
to him. Tally betrayed Peris because her desires for helping out Shay were more
important to her than to become pretty , at the time. Another situation Tally was
disloyal to someone was when she chose to help out Special Circumstances. This
caused her to stab Shay in the back . While arriving to the Smoke, she chose her
own desires instead of helping her friend. This soon changes once she makes it there
and meets new people. Maddy and Az are the ones to open her eyes on what really
happens when someone develops into a Pretty and changes... Show more content on

The choices she contrived throughout the book caused her to betray her friends,
even if she didn t mean to. Tally s lack of knowledge of what was going on in her
society, is one reason why she is dishonest to her friends. Betrayal is something that
happens on a daily basis, in everyone s lives with relationships or relatives they
Nelson Mandela Obstacles
Throughout his long life, Nelson Mandela had come across countless obstacles
which would have a detrimental effect on an average man. Mandela however fought
these hardships constantly and always strived to gain freedom for his African race
from the social and political system of Apartheid. Many of Mandela s challenging
events have been turned into advantages by either him or by the community which
has supported him. This is shown with the example of the Free Mandela Campaign,
Defiance campaign and the ANC Youth league. The Free Mandela Campaign came
about after the news of apartheid and Nelson Mandela s imprisonment had reached
other parts of the world such as the United States and the UK. Oliver Tambo, the
leader of the ANC, who was at this point in exile, began the Free Mandela campaign,
which gained international renown, and placed pressure on the Apartheid regime The
campaign itself was brought about through the events of Mandela being wrongly
imprisoned for life. This brought about much outrage within his supporters of... Show

Source E shows Mandela being transported via a prison car. Despite this major
setback in his fight against apartheid, the ANC youth league was still active within
the prison itself. The ANC formed its own international organisation on Robben
Island called the High Command. It consisted of Walter Sisulu, Govan, Mbeki,
Raymond, Mhlaba and Mandela as the head of the High Command. It made decisions
about such matters as prisoner complaints, strikes, mail and food. They had to keep
this organisation a secret from the guards. Furthermore this shows that even whilst in
prison, Nelson Mandela was still able to identify his situation and do what he thinks
he and everyone else would most benefit
Analysis Of Ellen Lee Degeneres s The Daughter Of Betty...
Ellen Lee DeGeneres was born and raised in Metairie, Louisiana the daughter of
Betty Degeneres (nГ©e Elizabeth Jane Pfeffer), a speech therapist, and Elliott
Everett DeGeneres, an insurance agent. She has one brother, Vance, a musician
and producer. She is of French, English, German, and Irish descent. She was raised
as a Christian scientist until age 13. In 1973, her parents filed for separation and
were divorced the following year. Shortly after, Ellen s mother married Roy
Gruessendorf, a salesman. Betty Jane and Ellen moved with Gruessendorf from the
New Orleans area to Atlanta, Texas. Vance stayed with his father. On a February

She was also profiled in detail on ABC s Primetime Live.
Her wit won over audiences, and DeGeneres finally found success as an actress
with her own prime time sitcom the self titled television series, Ellen. The series
was originally titled These Friends of Mine but was renamed in 1994. From that
point, the show evolved from its beginnings as an ensemble effort into a showcase for
DeGeneres.
The show faced strong criticism when, in April 1997, DeGeneres s character became
the first lead in sitcom history to openly acknowledge her homosexuality on air. An
ABC affiliate in Birmingham, Alabama, refused to air the landmark episode. Fearing
controversy, some of the show s sponsors, Daimler Chrysler among them, withdrew
advertisements.
Several episodes following her reveal had gay themes and, throughout the remainder
of the season, DeGeneres and ABC executives faced a storm of criticism. But the
show also received rounds of applause from gay friendly activists including
DeGeneres s mother, Betty DeGeneres, who appeared on numerous talk shows in
support of her daughter. Despite a supportive audience, an Emmy Awardfor the
coming out episode and the show s groundbreaking place in television history, Ellen
was canceled in 1998.
But DeGeneres had already made the move to the big screen, starring in the dark

The Effects Of The Market Revolution On The 18th Century
Jihoon JunDBQ
From the early to 18th century the Market Revolution had tremendous and lasting
impacts on the Northern, Southern and Western economies. The Revolution brought
about new technological inventions as well as an influx of immigrants to new lands.
The effects of the Market Revolution on Northern, Western and Southern societies are
evident in various ways. For the North, the revolution gave way to the increase in
population because of immigrants. Contrary to this, the West experienced
advancements and developments in technology due to the Revolution and inventors
such as Eli Whitney. Lastly for the South, the Market Revolution created different
perceptions on the various social effects the movement had on society.
In the Northern society, the Market Revolution gave way to the plethora of
immigrants that settled in the North. Between 1840 and 1860 many individuals in
different nations sought freedom from poverty, social division and various other
factors. In fact, during the mid 18th century, roughly 2 million Irish, 1.5 million
Germans, and 750,000 Britons settled in the Northern United States. From this time
period, 88% of the immigrants were either English, German or Irish (Doc. 4). This
graph clearly illustrates the overall immigration as a whole; however, this document
fails to address the fact that this sudden immigration also had some negative
consequences. The event also resulted in a fragmented society. In other words, artisan

Brand Items And The Purchaser Basic Leadership Process
INTRODUCTION In the modern society brands not only signify the product or
company but also have a strong relationship with perceived quality, consumers life
style, social class, taste etc. The motivation behind this study is to frame a more
profound thought of what impact a brand name can have, when individuals go for
buying, pick the items between various brands, particularly private vehicle like car.
Furthermore, this concentrate additionally tries to investigate the connection
between various brand items and the purchaser basic leadership process. This
study has been conducted through literature study as well as questionnaire
directed survey. Simple random sampling procedure has been used to determine
sampling frame and size and a convenience sample of sixty respondents of different
age groups, income and occupation have been considered for the survey. The
collected data were analysed to comply with the objectives and also to draw
conclusions. From the study it is discovered that when consumer purchases a car,
brand names do effect his/her choice. The study also reveals that branded cars have
a excessive place in consumer mind, when customers go for purchasing a car; they
prefer to purchase a familiar branded car. Customers would prefer not to attempt new
or obscure marked cars in light of the fact that they have very little data about the
slighter known brand. INDUSTRY PROFILEIndia is one of the most significant

Alma s Two-State Solution

fighting for legitimate rights and valid aspirations. This is the story of the new
generation of teenagers like Alma, a 19 year old Palestinian living in the West Bank.
For most of Alma s life she has had to fear for her life and the lives of her family
members. What truly stands out about Alma is the deep comprehension that she has
about the situation that is occurring around her rather than seeing the Palestinians
and the Israelis as two different groups she sees them as one. She believes that at the
end of the day that the Palestinians and the Israelis are human beings who deserve

The two state solution allows for the Palestinians and the Israelis to be able to fulfill
their need for self determinism, which is the right that has been repeatedly
encroached upon. The two state solution will also result in the mending of the
relationship that Israel has with the Palestinians and the Arab world and it will allow
for citizens of each state to be able to live their lives without the constant fear of
violence. To begin with, the two state solution advocates for the importance of
engagement and dialogue between the Israelis and the Palestinians and the Arabs
of the middle east. In 1948 1982, the relationship between the Israelis and the
Arabs escalated leading to a civil war. From 1982 and onwards the tensions have
simmered as both side remember the egregious aftermath. This is evident because
about 400,000 Palestinians Arabs had fled from Israel after the segment of the war
that lasted form 1948 1949 (Gale). The forced mass exodus of the Palestinians has
been described by the United Nations Refugee Agency as one of the most protracted

Cocaine Essay
My report is on the drug cocaine. I will tell mainly how it affects the body and
nervous system. I also have included where Cocaine comes from to help understand
exactly what we re talking about, and to clear up any misunderstanding about the
drug.
Cocaine is both a central nervous system stimulant and an anesthetic. It is found in
the leaves of the coca plant. The traditional method of coca use is to chew the leaves,
producing a mild stimulation. Outside of South America it is generally used in it s
more refined and extracted forms, either powder cocaine, or freebase cocaine and
makes a much stronger effect than chewing the leaves. The term quot;Crack quot; is
alternately used to refer to street quality freebase cocaine, or to refer to ... Show more

It is sucked on rather than chewed. It is still a common practice for a mother to
introduce her young to the coca experience by preparing the wad of leaves in her
mouth and then transferring it to the mouth of her child. In this way the proper
amount of lime will be present in the first wad of leaves the child uses, which
ensures that the first experience with coca will be a positive one. Cocaine was first
extracted from coca in the 19th cent. and was at first hailed as a miracle drug. After
all, it was used for a lot of things such as in dentistry.
Most coca is grown in Peru, Bolivia, and Colombia. The farmers, for whom it is a
relatively well paying crop, harvest and dry the leaves, which are then processed
into coca paste. Cocaine base is extracted from the paste in informal laboratories,
usually in Peru or Bolivia. Further processing continues in Colombia, where the
white powder, cocaine hydrochloride, is produced for export. Once in the United
States, the cocaine is cut (diluted) with ingredients such as lactose, and sold or
further processed into crack. Drug dealers make a lot of money off of Cocaine. The
reason why this is, is because in South America, it s very cheap for the stuff while in
North America, the price shoots up quite a bit.
Drugs can affect the body in a variety of ways, causing changes in the brain, the
nervous system, and the synapses between nerves. Stimulants in particular, increase

History Of Jack The Ripper
Who is Jack the Ripper?
From August 1888 to November of the same year, the Whitechapel area of London
was under attack by an unknown assailant. He terrorized the district, as well as
surrounding areas, by killing and mutilating prostitutes all within a mile of each other
(Biography.com Editors, 2015). During that time, violence towards prostitutes was
not unusual, but the way the bodies were attacked and dismembered lead officials to
believe the killings were acted out by a single offender (Biography.com Editors,
2015).
It can be construed; the Ripper killings suggested a sociopathic tendency with a deep
hatred of women. Not only did he kill them by slicing their throats, but he also

In today s day in age, we are provided with many new advances that allow us to
identify criminals. Using fingerprint analysis and DNA, we can streamline the
identification process and allow the perpetrators to be named. With all the

injured himself in the process. Not only could his DNA have been at the crime scene,
but trace evidence from his hair or clothing fibers could have also been there. At that
time, when technology was sparse, they were unaware of the possibilities that
awaited their future generation. However, as time passed and advances were made, it
can be concluded that with urban technology, Jack the Ripper could have been
Deontological Approach To Ethics Essay
Ethical philosophy and its influences
Introduction
?Leadership can be described as a process of social influence which has the
tendency of maximizing the efforts of other people with an aim of achieving a goal.
As a leader, I subscribe to authentic leadership. Authentic leadership is an idea that
has been around since ancient times and refers to a style of leadership that is very
consistent with the personality of the leader and their core values, these values
include; honesty, being ethical and practical in all dealings (Fidler, 2013). Authentic
leaders put more emphasis on building their legitimacy. This can only be possible if
the leader presents honest relationships, coupled with ethical actions. The leader will
be able to positively influence others in achieving the goals ... Show more content on

It posits that decisions must to be made with the consideration of an individual?s
duties and the rights of others. When applying deontology, it requires individuals to
adhere to rules and at the same time to perform their duties. If I show a group od
individual the wrong way, they will be taught it is the right way. It is the human
morality of right and wrong and not the consequential method of it. They will learn
that this is how out leader taught us.
Virtue ethics
This is a principle of ethics that investigates the inherent character of an individual
instead of the outcome of a specific action that has been done. Therefore, as a
leader, there is need to support the habits and behaviors that will help an individual
to attain a wellbeing or a life that will be characterized by happiness. Most people
know when and where to do the right thing at the right time. One can see what the
outcome may become of a situation that is going good or bad. Good virtues help
individuals in an organization to promote good ethical behaviors. Bad virtues will do

Rational Model Of Decision Making
What do you consider the most important points (or lessons) that were introduced in
the text and class discussion? Were these new topics or did they reinforce what you
had previously learned? What have been your personal experiences and/or how
would you apply these to your workplace?
Tools for decision making is interesting topic to me. I used probability theory some
time using actual values. Often everyone use the probability concept based on the
previous experience and knowledge. This the first time came across decision making
software. I searched internet about decision making software. Those program leads
the user through the steps of the formal decision making process. These days I am
looking for Laboratory Management Software for my work place. I will use
brainstorming concept in this chapter to select good program. I will use rational
model of making step to direct my team during brainstorming session.
Identify the problem identify the alternative solution gather facts evaluate alternative
chose and implement the best alternative feedback and corrective action. The
rational model of decision making use every day in my life. Not only has the work
placed in the home too.
The Recency syndrome (tendency to remember more easily those events that have
occurred recently) is very true concept. I experience lot in my workplace. Every year
I conduct good manufacturing training and food defense training to the employees. I
hope it help people to remember the
Imagery In Mid Term Break
In this essay, I will be focusing on the two elegies, Mid term Break and Funeral
Blues, and how they make use of numerous literary and poetic techniques to convey
the grief reflected from the individuals in the poem. Mid term Break is written
about Seamus Heaney s younger brother, Christopher, who died in a car accident
while Heaney was away at boarding school. He also writes his poems
autobiographically, many involving his family relationships. The title signifies the
irony of its association with celebration its contradiction to a traumatising death.
Funeral Blues was written in 1936 to be used in a play by W.H. Auden, who was
homosexual. This piece of information is important as the speaker refers to the death
someone who he loved romantically... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All of his stanzas are in tercet form, which represents how everything had rhythm
and order until the last stanza, which only has one line. The use of having only one
line in the last stanza was to make it stand out, emphasizing the short life that his
brother had. The last line shows how greatly the short life of the young boy
impacts Heaney; he feels that he could have done something to prevent the
accident as he is partly responsible for being an older brother, causing him to feel
frustration and grief which he shows in the single line stanza. Bumper knocked
him clear...a foot for every year contains the only full rhyme in the whole poem,
which associates to the closure received by the poet. The closure represents the end
of the exposure of Heaney s frustration and grief, but in reality (as in after the poem
is expressed) he still goes on to mourn of his brother s
The Mark Twain s The Celebrated Jumping Frog Of
Calaveras...
Imagine sitting at a coffee shop in New York City. The day is November 18, 1867.
A person has just picked up a copy of the Saturday Press, a newspaper which is
known for publishing short stories (Powers). One of the short stories featured in the
newspaper is, Jim Smiley and His Jumping Frog , which will soon become The
Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County. by a newly found writer known as
Mark Twain(Powers 154). Twain carries a heavy burden, spurred on by the Civil
War, which ended in 1865 (Gerald 336). After reading the story, all the maladies
brought about from five years of fighting are suddenly lifted.(Powers 154). In Mark
Twain s The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County, several of literary
themes are incorporated, like creating a tall tale, as well as the ideal of deception,
which Twain continually brings back to the reader throughout the novel. In The
Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County by Mark Twain, his greatest
techniques are his use of characters, setting, conflict, humor, while giving an
interesting point of view.
In The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County, as in many of his other
works of literature, Mark Twain creates many memorable characters. One of the
main reasons Mark Twain does this is to create a believable character. The longer the
character is in the story, the more the reader learns about the character, making the
character become more believable. Easterners of this era held many preconceived
ideas
Similarities Between Sita And Sita
Objective of my summer project is to compare and contrast the personality and life
of our two greatest women of epics Goddess Sita and Draupadi. I would like to draw
attention towards that how different they were yet they were similar.

Draupadi a woman who hasn t experienced childhood. She had to suffer because of

Draupadi, however, does not get the pleasure of raising her children; they are sent

five are murdered by Drona s son who refuses to take defeat lying down. The
kingdom of the Pandavas is passed on to the grandson of one of Arjuna s other
wives. Both Sita and Draupadi are trophies in an archery contest. Ram breaks a
mighty bow that he was supposed to string to win Sita s hand while Arjuna strikes
the eye of a fish rotating on a wheel hanging from the ceiling to win Draupadi s
hand. Some Ramayana retellings tell us of how Sita met Ram in a garden before
marriage and it was love at first sight, there is no such romance in Draupadi s life.
In fact, she prevents Karna from participating in the archery contest as he is of low
caste and ends up marrying a brahmin who turns out to be Arjuna disguised. Sita s
sister and cousins are given in marriage to Ram s brothers. Draupadi is shared by
Arjuna s four brothers, all of whom have many other wives. Thus while Sita
experiences monogamy, Draupadi experiences polyandry and
Armed Force Application Essay
My motivation to serve in the military was singular: to serve and protect my
country, family, and friends as a member of its Armed Forces during a time of war.
Before entering high school, I desired life as a chemist, working in laboratories or
among nature to discern its secrets. After the events of 9/11/2001, watching aircraft
strike our people and realizing a plane crashed in Shanksville, PA, less than two
hours away from my home, I knew my future would drive me to serve. I continued
my fervent interest in STEM fields, but I sought a way to apply that ambition
towards public service as a member of the Armed Forces. After completing college
entrance exams, the flyer for West Point drew my attention. Once eligible to apply, I

Risk And Corporate Financial Strategy Essay
Risk and Corporate Financial Strategy The relevance of sound risk management
cannot be overstated when it comes to the effective implementation of corporate
strategy. This text concerns itself with the impact of risks on corporate financial
strategy. Some of the risks that will be highlighted in this case include but they are
not limited to reinvestment risk, default risk, political risk, interest rate risk, etc.
From the onset, it is important to note that risk is part and parcel of every business
entity s corporate strategy. For this reason, in seeking to develop the corporate
financial strategy of their firms, managers must interrogate the inherent risks. One of
the risks that could have an impact on the corporate financial strategy of an entity is
business risk which Bender and Ward (2012) define as the inherent risk associated
with the underlying nature of the particular business and the specific competitive
strategy that is being implemented (p.51). Business risks could arise from events that
take place inside or outside the organization. An entity with a significantly high
business risk according to Bender and Ward (2012) must not adopt a financial
strategy that involves high financial risk (p.51). Yet another risk which could have an
impact on an entity s corporate financial strategy is credit risk. For most businesses,
this particular risk arises in those instances whereby a client fails to satisfy its
contractual obligations. Mostly, businesses find

The Issue Of Mounting Debt
The lack of sales and higher costs mentioned above led to the obvious internal issue
of mounting debt. It is so obvious we will only touch briefly enough on it to mention
that mounting debt to the tune of over $340,000,000, nearly half that owed to the
parent company Suzuki Motor Corporation, proved to be an insurmountable
mountain to scale (Szczesny, 2012). The last internal factor we will discuss is hardly
a negative aspect of Suzukis business, but it certainly fits the definition of an
internal factor that directly led to the decision to pull out of the States. This
internal factor is their success in other regions of the world. While market share in
the U.S. plummeted to well under 1%, Suzuki was doing quite well in other
regions. They were the leader in India, a country that accounted for 40% overall
sales in early 2012 (Hagiwara Hagiwara, 2012). Other emerging markets in
Southeast Asia were strongholds for the company as well, believed to be because
of the smaller frame of their cars. In markets used to suffocating small roads, these
small, inexpensive and durable cars were in high demand. And because of the
success in these non U.S. markets the decision became clearer, as there was an
alternative place to allocate resources. If other successful markets hadn t existed it is
easy to see how a decision to simply attempt to repair itself and compete in the U.S.
could have been justified.

women surgeons, which for that time was unheard of their contributions were not
limited to: textbooks of anatomy, training for physicians, the first textbook about
women s medicine and the first female medical school faculty member named
Trotula de Ruggiero (Ferraris Z. Ferraris V. 1997). For this school was not
something to be mocked, physicians trained at Salerno gained considerable prestige
and notoriety throughout southern Europe (Ferraris Z. Ferraris V. 1997). The
school of Salerno was not only progressive in its gendering of the profession but
also, produced original anatomic texts, huge collections of drug remedies based
largely on well known Arabic pharmacopeia, and one the most preeminent medical
school faculties of its time (Ferraris Z. Ferraris V. 1997).
An example of a specific case of a woman s experience from Salerno comes from the

provides a rich history illustrating the diverse culture, architecture, and captures the
spirit of these medieval towns. It also allows for an interesting perspective into the

The essay, the Presence in the Past, authored by Ralph Trouillot addresses the relation
between the time and the written text by elaborating the relationship between the past
and the representation of the past, including written texts and other media. Trouillot
challenges the fixity of pastiness, stating the pastis continually renewed by the ever
changing presentwhere the narrator is positioned. Therefore, the text about the past
shall not be taken for granted as authentic simply due to its empirical exactitude (144),
but needs to be examined whether its relation with the past is moral.
Trouillot takes Disney s Virginia park, themed as Afro African slavery, as the major
example to illustrate what kind of text is appropriate to represent
Zooplankton Vs Faecal Pellets
Zooplankton are a tiny marine creature that can ingest pieces of plastic that are
smaller the one millimeter in size. Normally in a marine environment the faecal
pellets transport nutrients and carbon in the deeper parts of the ocean where animals
eat it thinking they re getting food that will help them but in reality they are just
taking in pieces of plastic. A new study showed that the faecal pellets that contain
microplastic sink slower than the faecal pellets without the microplastic in it. With
the pellets that sink slower it gives marine life a greater opportunity to eat it.
(Plankton Feces Could Move Plastic Pollutionto the Ocean Depths) As these faecal
pellets sink, they take the plastic with them. This could be an important

Meaning of Burden of Proof and Standard of proof.
Zambian...
This paper discusses the meaning of burden of proof and standard of proof and
will also explain the direction of the Judge given to the jurors in the given set of
facts. 1. BURDEN OF PROOF It is derived from the Latin expression onus
probandi. The burden of proof or onus of proof refers to the obligation on a party
to satisfy the court to a specified standard of proof that certain facts are true. The
facts for this particular purpose are facts in issue.1 Burden of proof is closely
associated with the Latin maxim semper necessistas probandi incumbit ei qui agit
which means the necessity of proof always lies with the person who lays the
charge.2 The general rule is that the burden lies on a party who asserts in the
affirmative. In... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If no evidence is called by the accused, the judge should satisfy himself or herself

CASES In civil cases, the burden of proof lies on the Plaintiff to prove the facts in
issue. In the event that the Defendant has a counter claim then the burden of proof
lies on the Defendant in relation to the counter claim. In the case of JOSEPH

which made it impossible for her to undertake the voyage. The cause of the
explosion could not be definitely ascertained, and, of three possible explanations,
only one would have imported negligence on the part of the ship owners. The
charterers claimed damages from the ship owners for failure to load a cargo. At the
time of the accident, the ship was not an arrived ship, and, therefore,
Reflection On Head-To-Toe Assessments
This week, my shift at KLH was intense, but at the same time informative. I was
able to successfully meet my goal from last week of becoming more fluent with head
to toe assessments. I have been finding that regardless of each patient s acuity, it is
becoming much easier to conduct a full assessment without looking at my cheat
sheet. Although I was not able to meet my goal of incorporating complimentary and
alternative medicine (CAM) into my practice, I was given the opportunity later on
during charting to recognize where I could have utilized them. Specifically, my client
was experiencing decreased lungsounds on expiration and crackles to her right lower
lobe (RLL). In hindsight, I recognize that I could have taken the opportunity to

During one of my interactions, my patient rated her pain a 7/10 and I could tell
that she was in discomfort by her facial expressions and lack of conversation. By
recognizing this I was able to have a conversation with the RN around what could
be given to alleviate her pain. The RN was appreciative that I relayed the
information and she happily gave her an analgesic. About an hour later, while
checking in on my patient, I recognized that she was much more at ease. I could
also tell that she was happy with my care as she quickly thanked me for my help
and explained that the pain was now tolerable at a 4/10. Throughout this
experience I realized how quickly a patient s health can change. The importance of
doing hourly rounds was evident as had I not gone in to check on my patients level
of pain again, I would not have known that it had increased in such a short amount
of time. This was a positive experience for me as I felt that I was more involved with
my client s care and was able to really make a difference in her health and

Two basic types of fireworks are the firecracker and sparkler. Firecrackers are
simply made of rolled paper tubes with black powder, which is made of a strong
oxider, and a fuse, which adds heat to the oxider, resulting in a boom . Sparklers
are just a little bit different they are essentially a long fuse with black powder
around it, so they stay lit longer and show color. The color comes from a reaction
with specific metals like aluminium, copper, and zinc(How Are Fireworks Made?).
The fireworks that most professional shows contain are known as the aerial
fireworks. They are normally made of shells containing black powder, the mortar
itself, stars, shell, bursting charge, and fuse. The stars in the fireworks are spread
out in the shell and they create the sparkling like figure. The bursting charge is in
the center and when the lit fuse hits it, the firework explodes (How Are Fireworks
Made?). Some also use multi break shells to create different

Common Themes In The House Of The Scorpions
In the novel House of the Scorpions by Nancy Farmer, the memoir, Where Am I
Wearing by Kelsey Timmerman, and the short story The Scholarship Jacket by
Martha Salinas, the common theme is that a person is always a person, no matter
their wealth, their skin color, or even their birth circumstances. In the House of the
Scorpions, an instance that shows this is when Matt finally listens to what all of his
friends have been telling him, about how he is not inferior to them. Another example
that accentuates the theme from Where Am I Wearing is where the reader learns
about the terrible conditions Bangladeshi workers have to suffer through. A final
example of the theme in The Scholarship Jacket is when Martha is denied the jacket
because she s poor and Mexican. A common theme similarly found in The House of
the Scorpions by Nancy Farmer, The Scholarship Jacket by Martha Salinas, and
Where Am I Wearing by Kelsey Timmerman is that everyone is human, no matter
their financial status, ethnicity, not to mention circumstances of birth, and all
deserve to be treated the same. In the novel, The House of the Scorpions, an
example of how the theme is aptly portrayed is when Matt understands that he is not
inferior to other humans because he is a clone. A quote from this moment states,
Matt had to swallow hard to keep the tears from rolling down his face. He wasn t
alone after all. With friends like these, he would triumph, as El Patron had triumphed
over death and povertyand death so
Symptoms And Treatment Of Kartagener s Syndrome
Kartagener s syndrome is an autosomal recessive disorder affecting the cilia within
the body. Autosomal recessive means that one or more of both the parent s genes
responsible for encoding the cilia s structure are mutated. This essay will focus on
the etiology, clinical manifestations and anatomic alterations while also exploring
diagnostic and treatment modalities. Cilia are the tiny hair like structures found in
many organ systems including the respiratory and reproductive systems. It was
diagnosed by a Swedish physician Manes Kartagener in 1933 (). Since Kartegner s
syndrome is a autosomal recessive disorder each child of the affected parents have a
twenty five percent chance of developing the syndrome. According to Zariwala, it is
estimated that in the United States, there are 12,000 to 17,000 people who have the
condition (Zariwala). Kartagener s syndrome often presents as a newborn suffering
from mild to moderate respiratory distress. As the neonate transitions into extrauterine
life, tachypnea and the need for supplemental oxygen is often apparent. Many babies
affected by the disease also have persistent crackles or rhonchi when auscultating their
chest. Some patients may also have an wheezes similar to patient s with asthma
(Bergström, Sten Erik). This is caused by the inability for the neonate to clear the
secretions from their airway. When performing a physical assessment of the chest
you will often find that there is a hyper resonant percussion note, as well
Weimar Republic Essay
Weimar Republic There were various factors that contributed to the failure of the
Weimar Republic of Germany and the ascent of Hitler s National Socialist German
Workers Party into power on January 30, 1933. Various conflicting problems were
concurrent with the eventuation of the Republic that, from the outset, its first
governing body the socialist party (SPD) was forced to contend with. These included
the aspect of German imperialism, the unresolved defeat of 1918, financial collapse
and the forced struggle against the activities of the National party as well as inflation.
Other factors which influenced the failure of Weimar were the structural weaknesses
induced by the constitution and the basic lack of support for the Republic... Show

The sailors at Kiel mutinied in a last desperate effort on October 28 and On
November 9, 1919, the streets were filled with crowds marching to demonstrate at
the center of Berlin. Similarly, even before the contingency of these incidents, the
center party, a liberal group who were the coalition government of the acting SPD
formed by Phillip Scheidemann, resigned rather than sign the Treaty of Versailles.
Besides, German patriotism was strong, in particular because the German people
believed they had fought a defensive war and were told their soldiers were
unconquered in the field. Therefore, the humiliating Treaty came as a rude shock to
the German people who, correspondingly, blamed the politicians for betraying the
soldiers in signing the armistice and saw them as compounding their treason by
accepting the peace settlement. They spoke of the November criminals and
protested A nation of seventy million suffers, but does not die. These factors
propagated in the promotion of anti republican feeling, the conclusions of which
were clearly reflected in the results of the election of June 1920. To illustrate, the
SPD lost nearly half its seats (many to the USDP) and the right wing parties (DVP
and DNVP) increased their share at the expense of the democrats. Defeated on the
battlefield, defeated at the conference table, defeated at the polls, the republic
embarked on its uncertain career. Furthermore, compliance with the Treaty
Motown Civil Rights Movement
The Impact of the Relationship between Motown and the Civil Rights Movement
It was possible to view the sign that was above the Motown Records front windows
located in Detroit during the 1960 s. The sign read Hitsville U.S.A. and Berry
Gordy, the founder of Motown had placed it there after the company moved to a
new location. It was the Grand Blvd 2648 W. and the sign proved that Gordy was
indeed a force to be reckoned with as time went by. The Motown Record Company
had established itself as a successful and independently run African America
business. The company encouraged the youth of America by urging them to go and
look beyond the racial divides that existed. He wanted them to dance and sing
together at a time when the issue of unity was gaining a lot of importance .
Main Discussion
Motown Records was able to produce legends that included the Jackson Five, Gladys
Knight, Martha Reeves, the Four Tops, the Temptations, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross,
and Marvin Gaye. It is evident that Motown had created a new tune that had never
been heard before among the American youth, and thus it helped in the shaping of the

The allegations were not true because Motown was able to embody one of the key
principles regarding the Civil Rights Movement. It mostly preached about black
independence and success. It is evident that Gordy did not intend on proclaiming
the message of empowerment and black independence. However, based on his
actions of going ahead and establishing the record company, he played a role in
accomplishing one of the Civil Rights Movement s goals, which was black economic
independence. It means that the success and establishment of Motown was a political
act of intrinsic value. It is because it served as the needed proof regarding the fact
that African Americans could be as successful and independent as the whites could
Role Of Gladiatorial Sports In Roman Times

Latin Ms.CellaPeriod 3
Sports During The Roman Time Period During the Roman Times from (31 BCE to
476 CE) sports were both things that many did in their daily life and as well as
Roman Fighting games. Not all Roman games were violent and played by men.
Many Roman kids would swim, ride horses, hunt and fish, play board games during
their leisure time. Sports were very important to the Romans because some had a
religious meaning to them. Gladiatorial games in Ancient Rome and modern sports
have more in common than some would think. Violence has been a key component
to the success of each of these games. Many spectators watched as the Coliseum was
filled with blood from brutal gladiatorial matches. These days, hundreds of people
watch two men fight in a boxing ring. After thinking about gladiatorial games and
looking at modern sports see similarities between the two. The Romans believed that
they inherited the practice of gladiatorial games from the Etruscans who used them
as part of a funeral ritual. The first gladiatorial games were offered in Rome in 264
BCE by sons of Junius Brutus Pera in their father s honor. Even though this ritual
began as a ceremony to honor important men after their death, it began ... Show more

Book Report On Outliers By Malcolm Gladwell
Outliers: The Story of Success by Malcolm Gladwell
In his book Outliers: The Story of Success, Malcolm Gladwell explores a variety of
different success stories as case studies. Gladwell begins by explaining the
definition of an outlier. An outlier can also be referred to as something that is
situated away from or classed differently from a main or related body (page 3).
Therefore, this means that outliers can be a person, place, or even an event in time.
Each example that Gladwell gives throughout this book have one thing in common;
that there was some occurrence or event that allowed each one to become that way.
Malcom Gladwell has managed to relate the success of people with other aspects of
their lives; for example, their birthday, birthplace, ... Show more content on

Exceptional success requires an immense amount of practice, a point that Gladwell
backed up by displaying that highly successful people generally spent ten thousand
hours or more practicing. Even if someone is born with some sort of innate talent,
leaving out any financial resources, spare time, and support system that make it
possible to practice for thousands of hours, success may still be unobtainable.
Mozart definitely had innate talent, however he also had been practicing the art of
composing concerts for nine years before he actually produced his first masterpiece.
Gladwell states that IQ scores and success have a rather skeptical relationship, and
notes that in order to become a great professor or to be published in an academic
journal, this will require a certain amount of social aptitude and negotiating skills,
without which a genius will even fail to become successful at
The Democracy in United States Elections
Are United States elections democratic?
Democracy a universally recognized phenomenon refers to a government deriving
its power from the people and being answerable to them (Fox 2008). President
Abraham Lincoln (Gettysburg Address, 1863) said about democracy ...is a
government of the people, by the people, and for the people, shall not vanish from
this earth (Fox 2008). The foundations of democracy in America are found within,
The Declaration of Independence of 1776 and The Constitution of 1789 , both
products of the American Revolution where equality and the rights of man were the
focus of their creation (Rodgers 2001). The first half of this paper discusses the
notion that despite having the best institutional powers that uphold democratic
functions within the American government, this doesn t always translate into the
perfect democratic election.
The US Constitution separated power between three institutions of the state the
Executive, the Legislature and the Judiciary where no singular institution has all the
power (Rodgers 2001). They act to prevent the president arbitrarily appointing
someone to a particular post, protecting democratic process (Rodgers 2001). A large
number of American officials are elected and are not simply appointed anyway
(Rodgers 2001). A democratic U.S nation with decentralized power and responsibility
like the United States is unique in its federal system of government, as these are
shared by national, state, and local governments
Mistreated In The Nose And Black Boy
The story The Nose and Black boy have things in common on how they got
mistreated by other people who had thought they were better than them. The two
stories have the same tone because they have people getting mistreated for their
race and for their money. These books talk about how they both lost the power to
do anything because of what has happened to them or for who they are and from
where they came from. In Black Boy the main character Richard, is mistreated for
the color of his skin. He had been mistreated all his life growing up. At the age of
four he had burned down his grandma s house. His mother beat him near to death
for something he did not know he was doing as a CHILD! His family had moved

Proof Vs Burden Of Proof
Law and order exist for the purpose of establishing justice and when they fail in the

progress . The quote illustrates that justice and fairness is the crux elements during

Ultra thin models are plastered all over the media today, but have these influential
sources thought of the negative outcomes that could change society forever? The
notions represented by the media silently incline girls to conform to an ideal that
is impossible to reach. Due to their malleable brains, adolescent females are
subjected to the image of a perfect body through media s adverse influence of what
a quintessential girl is supposed to look like and the permanent impact it has on a

Advertisers are so manipulative, Christy Turlington, a Calvin Klein model,

but airbrushed to a point where the actress, model, or famous individual barely
resembles an actual human being. Christy Turlington s experience with
airbrushing is an unpleasant one and she deems it necessary to call out the media
that continuously allows this to happen. The idea of perfection and ultimate, top

accepted in society today. Airbrushing and other devices that are capable of fixing
imperfections can lead to depression and eating disorders (Issitt). This only
emphasizes that the media is affecting the overall psychological progress young
minds adapt to. Additionally, at age thirteen, 53% of American girls dislike their
bodies because of the media s influence; that number continues to grow as they get
older ( Teen Health and the Media ). This directly correlates with problems that
follow such as self consciousness, lack of confidence, and depression. The effect
media has on an individual lasts a lifetime and becomes a serious problem to
overcome as a result. Society is also affected by models and the theory of the thin
ideal which in turn discourages a positive body image. Many individuals are also

Throughout Gender and Race in the Physical Sciences, I have been struck by how
rarely in STEM we shed a light on the women of color that already exist and thrive
in the sciences. Often, when we discuss diversity in the sciences, we only discuss
it in the frame of a problem. More specifically, we tend to focus on the problem of
there not being enough of these women in the field. As a result of the lack of
attention paid to pioneering women in STEM, many young people of all
backgrounds are inclined to believe that there are no women of color doing great
things in the field that there are no role models. With this paper, and an on campus
event to be held in the spring, I hope to challenge people s assumptions about what a
scientist looks like, and inspire people through a discussion of innovative women of
color.

Snapping Hip Syndrome Research Paper
Snapping Hip Exercises
Snapping hip syndrome, also known as dancer s hip, is a medical condition where
you feel a snapping sensation, or hear a snapping sound, in the hip when you are
running, walking, or swinging your leg around. For many people, the problem is little
more than a nuisance, and the only symptoms are the snapping sensation, and sound
itself. However, for athletes or dancers, snapping hip exercises may help alleviate the
weakness, or pain that sometimes interfere with their performance.
Why does It Happen?
In many cases, the snapping symptom is caused by the movement of a tendon or
muscle over the bony surface in the hip, and snapping hip syndrome is often the result
of tightness in the muscles and tendons surrounding the hip.

  • 1. Essay Introduction Example Crafting an essay on the topic "Essay Introduction Example" might seem deceptively straightforward at first glance. After all, the task appears to involve merely presenting an example of an essay introduction. However, as any seasoned writer will attest, the simplicity of the topic can be misleading. To begin with, the challenge lies in avoiding banality. One might be tempted to provide a clichГ©d or overly generic introduction, falling into the trap of producing something that fails to engage the reader. Striking the right balance between being captivating and informative requires a nuanced approach, involving careful consideration of language, tone, and overall structure. Furthermore, there's the task of catering to a diverse audience. An effective introduction should be accessible to readers with varying levels of familiarity with the subject matter. Achieving this balance requires a thorough understanding of the topic and the ability to convey key ideas without overwhelming or alienating the audience. Another obstacle is the need for originality. Crafting an essay introduction that stands out from the multitude of similar pieces demands a creative spark. This involves thinking outside the conventional boundaries and infusing a personal touch or unique perspective to capture the reader's attention. Additionally, the process of refining and revising cannot be overlooked. A well-crafted introduction often emerges through multiple iterations. This means investing time and effort in reviewing, revising, and polishing the content to ensure clarity, coherence, and effectiveness. In conclusion, writing an essay on the seemingly straightforward topic of "Essay Introduction Example" is, in fact, a challenging endeavor. It requires a delicate balance of creativity, accessibility, and originality, coupled with the diligence to revise and refine until the desired quality is achieved. For those seeking assistance with similar essays or other academic writing tasks, a valuable resource is HelpWriting.net. • 2. Examples Of Betrayal In Uglies By Scott Westerfeld How would someone feel if they have known someone their entire life and all of a sudden they turn their back on them? Tally Youngblood managed to hurt Shay, Corey, and Paris s feelings in the book, Uglies, by Scott Westerfeld. Tally struggles to decide what to do when faced with difficult decisions and this causes her to have a weaker relationship with her friends. Being betrayed is what many characters experience throughout Uglies. This theme is relevant throughout the book, because everyone that runs into Tally ends up being betrayed by her in some way. Tally just wants to become a pretty like everyone else when they turn sixteen and has the operation done. When reaching the age to become pretty she ends up being disloyal to her friends and Dr. Cable. Tally wants to be with her best friend Peris again, and to do that, he tells her to stay out of trouble until after she turns pretty. Instead, she gets herself into a disaster with Shay and breaks the promise she made to him. Tally betrayed Peris because her desires for helping out Shay were more important to her than to become pretty , at the time. Another situation Tally was disloyal to someone was when she chose to help out Special Circumstances. This caused her to stab Shay in the back . While arriving to the Smoke, she chose her own desires instead of helping her friend. This soon changes once she makes it there and meets new people. Maddy and Az are the ones to open her eyes on what really happens when someone develops into a Pretty and changes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The choices she contrived throughout the book caused her to betray her friends, even if she didn t mean to. Tally s lack of knowledge of what was going on in her society, is one reason why she is dishonest to her friends. • 3. Nelson Mandela Obstacles Throughout his long life, Nelson Mandela had come across countless obstacles which would have a detrimental effect on an average man. Mandela however fought these hardships constantly and always strived to gain freedom for his African race from the social and political system of Apartheid. Many of Mandela s challenging events have been turned into advantages by either him or by the community which has supported him. This is shown with the example of the Free Mandela Campaign, Defiance campaign and the ANC Youth league. The Free Mandela Campaign came about after the news of apartheid and Nelson Mandela s imprisonment had reached other parts of the world such as the United States and the UK. Oliver Tambo, the leader of the ANC, who was at this point in exile, began the Free Mandela campaign, which gained international renown, and placed pressure on the Apartheid regime The campaign itself was brought about through the events of Mandela being wrongly imprisoned for life. This brought about much outrage within his supporters of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Source E shows Mandela being transported via a prison car. Despite this major setback in his fight against apartheid, the ANC youth league was still active within the prison itself. The ANC formed its own international organisation on Robben Island called the High Command. It consisted of Walter Sisulu, Govan, Mbeki, Raymond, Mhlaba and Mandela as the head of the High Command. It made decisions about such matters as prisoner complaints, strikes, mail and food. They had to keep this organisation a secret from the guards. Furthermore this shows that even whilst in prison, Nelson Mandela was still able to identify his situation and do what he thinks he and everyone else would most benefit
  • 4. Analysis Of Ellen Lee Degeneres s The Daughter Of Betty... Ellen Lee DeGeneres was born and raised in Metairie, Louisiana the daughter of Betty Degeneres (nГ©e Elizabeth Jane Pfeffer), a speech therapist, and Elliott Everett DeGeneres, an insurance agent. She has one brother, Vance, a musician and producer. She is of French, English, German, and Irish descent. She was raised as a Christian scientist until age 13. In 1973, her parents filed for separation and were divorced the following year. Shortly after, Ellen s mother married Roy Gruessendorf, a salesman. Betty Jane and Ellen moved with Gruessendorf from the New Orleans area to Atlanta, Texas. Vance stayed with his father. She was also profiled in detail on ABC s Primetime Live. Her wit won over audiences, and DeGeneres finally found success as an actress with her own prime time sitcom the self titled television series, Ellen. The series was originally titled These Friends of Mine but was renamed in 1994. From that point, the show evolved from its beginnings as an ensemble effort into a showcase for DeGeneres. The show faced strong criticism when, in April 1997, DeGeneres s character became the first lead in sitcom history to openly acknowledge her homosexuality on air. An ABC affiliate in Birmingham, Alabama, refused to air the landmark episode. Fearing controversy, some of the show s sponsors, Daimler Chrysler among them, withdrew advertisements. Several episodes following her reveal had gay themes and, throughout the remainder of the season, DeGeneres and ABC executives faced a storm of criticism. But the show also received rounds of applause from gay friendly activists including DeGeneres s mother, Betty DeGeneres, who appeared on numerous talk shows in support of her daughter. Despite a supportive audience, an Emmy Awardfor the coming out episode and the show s groundbreaking place in television history, Ellen was canceled in 1998. But DeGeneres had already made the move to the big screen, starring in the dark comedy Mr. Wrong (1996)

The Effects Of The Market Revolution On The 18th Century Jihoon JunDBQ From the early to 18th century the Market Revolution had tremendous and lasting impacts on the Northern, Southern and Western economies. The Revolution brought about new technological inventions as well as an influx of immigrants to new lands. The effects of the Market Revolution on Northern, Western and Southern societies are evident in various ways. For the North, the revolution gave way to the increase in population because of immigrants. Contrary to this, the West experienced advancements and developments in technology due to the Revolution and inventors such as Eli Whitney. Lastly for the South, the Market Revolution created different perceptions on the various social effects the movement had on society. In the Northern society, the Market Revolution gave way to the plethora of immigrants that settled in the North. Between 1840 and 1860 many individuals in different nations sought freedom from poverty, social division and various other factors. In fact, during the mid 18th century, roughly 2 million Irish, 1.5 million Germans, and 750,000 Britons settled in the Northern United States. From this time period, 88% of the immigrants were either English, German or Irish (Doc. 4). I also have included where Cocaine comes from to help understand exactly what we re talking about, and to clear up any misunderstanding about the drug. Cocaine is both a central nervous system stimulant and an anesthetic. It is found in the leaves of the coca plant. The traditional method of coca use is to chew the leaves, producing a mild stimulation. Outside of South America it is generally used in it s more refined and extracted forms, either powder cocaine, or freebase cocaine and makes a much stronger effect than chewing the leaves. It is still a common practice for a mother to introduce her young to the coca experience by preparing the wad of leaves in her mouth and then transferring it to the mouth of her child. In this way the proper amount of lime will be present in the first wad of leaves the child uses, which ensures that the first experience with coca will be a positive one. Cocaine was first extracted from coca in the 19th cent. and was at first hailed as a miracle drug. After all, it was used for a lot of things such as in dentistry. Most coca is grown in Peru, Bolivia, and Colombia. The farmers, for whom it is a relatively well paying crop, harvest and dry the leaves, which are then processed into coca paste. Cocaine base is extracted from the paste in informal laboratories, usually in Peru or Bolivia. Further processing continues in Colombia, where the white powder, cocaine hydrochloride, is produced for export. Once in the United States, the cocaine is cut (diluted) with ingredients such as lactose, and sold or further processed into crack. Drug dealers make a lot of money off of Cocaine. The reason why this is, is because in South America, it s very cheap for the stuff while in North America, the price shoots up quite a bit. Drugs can affect the body in a variety of ways, causing changes in the brain, the nervous system, and the synapses between nerves. Stimulants in particular, increase the release of

Mid term Break is written about Seamus Heaney s younger brother, Christopher, who died in a car accident while Heaney was away at boarding school. He also writes his poems autobiographically, many involving his family relationships. The title signifies the irony of its association with celebration its contradiction to a traumatising death. One of the short stories featured in the newspaper is, Jim Smiley and His Jumping Frog , which will soon become The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County. by a newly found writer known as Mark Twain(Powers 154). Twain carries a heavy burden, spurred on by the Civil War, which ended in 1865 (Gerald 336). After reading the story, all the maladies brought about from five years of fighting are suddenly lifted.(Powers 154). In Mark Twain s The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County, several of literary themes are incorporated, like creating a tall tale, as well as the ideal of deception, which Twain continually brings back to the reader throughout the novel. In The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County by Mark Twain, his greatest techniques are his use of characters, setting, conflict, humor, while giving an interesting point of view. In The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County, as in many of his other works of literature, Mark Twain creates many memorable characters. One of the main reasons Mark Twain does this is to create a believable character. This text concerns itself with the impact of risks on corporate financial strategy. Some of the risks that will be highlighted in this case include but they are not limited to reinvestment risk, default risk, political risk, interest rate risk, etc. From the onset, it is important to note that risk is part and parcel of every business entity s corporate strategy. For this reason, in seeking to develop the corporate financial strategy of their firms, managers must interrogate the inherent risks. One of the risks that could have an impact on the corporate financial strategy of an entity is business risk which Bender and Ward (2012) define as the inherent risk associated with the underlying nature of the particular business and the specific competitive strategy that is being implemented (p.51). Business risks could arise from events that take place inside or outside the organization. An entity with a significantly high business risk according to Bender and Ward (2012) must not adopt a financial strategy that involves high financial risk (p.51). Yet another risk which could have an impact on an entity s corporate financial strategy is credit risk. For most businesses, this particular risk arises in those instances whereby a client fails to satisfy its contractual obligations. Mostly, businesses find

It is so obvious we will only touch briefly enough on it to mention that mounting debt to the tune of over $340,000,000, nearly half that owed to the parent company Suzuki Motor Corporation, proved to be an insurmountable mountain to scale (Szczesny, 2012). The last internal factor we will discuss is hardly a negative aspect of Suzukis business, but it certainly fits the definition of an internal factor that directly led to the decision to pull out of the States. This internal factor is their success in other regions of the world. While market share in the U.S. plummeted to well under 1%, Suzuki was doing quite well in other regions. They were the leader in India, a country that accounted for 40% overall sales in early 2012 (Hagiwara Hagiwara, 2012). Other emerging markets in Southeast Asia were strongholds for the company as well, believed to be because of the smaller frame of their cars. In markets used to suffocating small roads, these small, inexpensive and durable cars were in high demand. And because of the success in these non U.S. markets the decision became clearer, as there was an alternative place to allocate resources. If other successful markets hadn t existed it is easy to see how a decision to simply attempt to repair itself and compete in the U.S. could have been justified. • 28. Common Themes In The House Of The Scorpions In the novel House of the Scorpions by Nancy Farmer, the memoir, Where Am I Wearing by Kelsey Timmerman, and the short story The Scholarship Jacket by Martha Salinas, the common theme is that a person is always a person, no matter their wealth, their skin color, or even their birth circumstances. In the House of the Scorpions, an instance that shows this is when Matt finally listens to what all of his friends have been telling him, about how he is not inferior to them. Another example that accentuates the theme from Where Am I Wearing is where the reader learns about the terrible conditions Bangladeshi workers have to suffer through. A final example of the theme in The Scholarship Jacket is when Martha is denied the jacket because she s poor and Mexican. A common theme similarly found in The House of the Scorpions by Nancy Farmer, The Scholarship Jacket by Martha Salinas, and Where Am I Wearing by Kelsey Timmerman is that everyone is human, no matter their financial status, ethnicity, not to mention circumstances of birth, and all deserve to be treated the same. In the novel, The House of the Scorpions, an example of how the theme is aptly portrayed is when Matt understands that he is not inferior to other humans because he is a clone. A quote from this moment states, Matt had to swallow hard to keep the tears from rolling down his face. He wasn t alone after all. With friends like these, he would triumph, as El Patron had triumphed over death and povertyand death so

Various conflicting problems were concurrent with the eventuation of the Republic that, from the outset, its first governing body the socialist party (SPD) was forced to contend with. These included the aspect of German imperialism, the unresolved defeat of 1918, financial collapse and the forced struggle against the activities of the National party as well as inflation. The sailors at Kiel mutinied in a last desperate effort on October 28 and On November 9, 1919, the streets were filled with crowds marching to demonstrate at the center of Berlin. Similarly, even before the contingency of these incidents, the center party, a liberal group who were the coalition government of the acting SPD formed by Phillip Scheidemann, resigned rather than sign the Treaty of Versailles. Besides, German patriotism was strong, in particular because the German people believed they had fought a defensive war and were told their soldiers were unconquered in the field. Therefore, the humiliating Treaty came as a rude shock to the German people who, correspondingly, blamed the politicians for betraying the soldiers in signing the armistice and saw them as compounding their treason by accepting the peace settlement. They spoke of the November criminals and protested A nation of seventy million suffers, but does not die. These factors propagated in the promotion of anti republican feeling, the conclusions of which were clearly reflected in the results of the election of June 1920. To illustrate, the SPD lost nearly half its seats (many to the USDP) and the right wing parties (DVP and DNVP) increased their share at the expense of the democrats. Defeated on the battlefield, defeated at the conference table, defeated at the polls, the republic embarked on its uncertain career. Furthermore, compliance with the Treaty

Mozart definitely had innate talent, however he also had been practicing the art of composing concerts for nine years before he actually produced his first masterpiece. • 34. The Democracy in United States Elections Are United States elections democratic? Democracy a universally recognized phenomenon refers to a government deriving its power from the people and being answerable to them (Fox 2008). President Abraham Lincoln (Gettysburg Address, 1863) said about democracy ...is a government of the people, by the people, and for the people, shall not vanish from this earth (Fox 2008). The foundations of democracy in America are found within, The Declaration of Independence of 1776 and The Constitution of 1789 , both products of the American Revolution where equality and the rights of man were the focus of their creation (Rodgers 2001). The first half of this paper discusses the notion that despite having the best institutional powers that uphold democratic functions within the American government, this doesn t always translate into the perfect democratic election. The US Constitution separated power between three institutions of the state the Executive, the Legislature and the Judiciary where no singular institution has all the power (Rodgers 2001). They act to prevent the president arbitrarily appointing someone to a particular post, protecting democratic process (Rodgers 2001). A large number of American officials are elected and are not simply appointed anyway (Rodgers 2001). A democratic U.S nation with decentralized power and responsibility like the United States is unique in its federal system of government, as these are shared by national, state, and local governments
