Albert Bandura s Social Learning Theory
Introduction
Albert Bandura s Social Learning Theory is a theory that includes development theories in order to
understand how children learn. Bandura s theory is based on how people can learn by observing
others, how internal mental states influence people, and how learning something does not change one
s behavior every time. Bandura was able to find out that people learn by three observational models.
The first model is the live model which includes observing how someone demonstrates the behavior,
the verbal instruction model which learning occurs through auditory directions, and the symbolic
model where modeling occurs through media sources such as internet, movies, and books.
Teachers have been influenced greatly in their classes by Bandura s theories in order to meet the needs
of various different learning styles. As an educator I have observed some teachers who use a teaching
format that does not include students in observational learning and they tend to be less motivated than
those students who learn by the observational models. My paper will discuss Bandura s biography,
observational learning models, and self efficacy in learning.
Bandura s Biography
Albert Bandura was born on December 4, 1925 in a small town in the province of Alberta, Canada. He
attended a small high school that had only twenty students and only two teachers. Bandura received
his B.A at the University of British Columbia in 1949 and received his doctorate at the University of
Iowa in 1952. He

Dred Scott Decision Case Study
Taney, Roger. Dred Scott Decision(1857) Majority Opinion of the Court. Washington,D.C., 6 March
1857. Verdict. Summary of Source: In 1857, Dred Scott a slave owned by John Emerson sued
Emerson s estate and brought the case to Chief Justice Roger Taney of the supreme court. This case all
started because back in early 1850s, when Emerson wanted to move from Missouri a slave state to
Illinois a free state. Now years later, when Emerson want to move back, Scott refuses and stated that
he is a free man now base on Illiois law.In Chief Justice Roger Taney finial verdict he states many
reasons why a slave can never become a citizen with the same rights as a white man. This is because

Therefore many conflict between Northern, Republican and Southern, Democrat arose since both side
wanted new western states to fall under their views. Missouri compromise of 1819 was introduced to
help fix the issue. However after Missouri Compromise, many other new states were admitted
therefore came the Kansas vs Nebraska act of 1854 which allowed popular sovereignty which is the
people voting for whether the new states become free or slave. This backfires because Illinois was a
free state and by their law it meant that Dred Scott was a free man. However because this case was
addressed in the supreme court, Chief Justice Roger Taney have the power to decide the final verdict
of this case and wanted abolitionist to understand that slavery can never be abolished. Since Chief
justice Roger Taney is a Democratic white slave owner from the south his views on slavery might lean
on the supporting side. Thus he needs evidences to support it. Therefore he use the constitution which
according to the Marbury vs Madison 1803, the Constitution is the law of the land which means

Elizabeth Blackburn Research Paper
Elizabeth Blackburn is an amazing woman; who comes from a family of physicians. She has always
had a passion for animals and science; she found biology to be her favorite subject in school. She was
fascinated by the visual impacts of science through books. Perhaps, it is her enthusiasm for biology
that inspired her to be one of the leading biochemists today. Elizabeth helped in the discovery of the
fountain of youth. Elizabeth and two of her colleagues discovered a way for chromosomes to be
copied during cell division. Within this discovery, they also found a unique DNA sequence in the
telomeres that protects these cells against degradation. In 2009, Dr. Blackburn was awarded the Nobel
Prize in Medicine.
Blackburn was born in 1948, in the city of Hobart in Tasmania, Australia. Elizabeth is the second
oldest of seven children. Her parents, uncle, and her aunt were all physicians and her grandfather (on
her father s side) collected Cleopatra beetles. When she was four years old, her family moved to the
town of Launceston. In Launceston, she attended the Broadland House Church of England Girls
Grammar School. At sixteen years old, her family relocated to Melbourne, Australia. Elizabeth gained
very high marks in the end of the year final statewide matriculation exams while attending University
High School. As a child, she was always curious about animals. The family had several pets including
rabbits and, fish, and guinea pigs over her adolescent years. Elizabeth kept

Galileo s Observation Of Astronomy
Galileo s use of the telescope in 1609 revolutionized the field of astronomy because his observations
disproved the geocentric theory and provided strong evidence for the Copernican/Heliocentric system.
Galileo discovered four satellites orbiting Jupiter; this observation contradicted the geocentric theory
by proving that it is possible for objects to orbit something other than Earth. His observation of the
phases of Venus supported the heliocentric theory because he discovered they were similar to the
Moon s phases (from thin crescent to full) which would not be possible if Venus orbited the Earth as it
would never pass behind the Sun. Further, he observed that Venus changed size which would be
expected if it was orbiting the sun as predicted by the Copernican system.
Ground based telescopes are limited because atmospheric light absorption prevents most wavelengths
of light from reaching the ground; only visible light, radio waves and some infrared wavelengths can
be observed from ground based telescopes. Space telescopes are advantageous because they are above
the atmosphere and thus allow us to observe other wavelengths such as gamma rays, x rays, ultraviolet
and infrared. They are also unaffected by weather, daylight, and light pollution. Another advantage of
space telescopes is that they can provide sharper images because they are unaffected by atmospheric
turbulence which can blur the images of ground based telescopes (a phenomenon known as seeing ).

Atrial And Ventricular Septal Defects
ATRIAL AND VENTRICULAR SEPTAL DEFECTS
Yulissa R. De Leon
June 26, 2016
BS 104 ME1
Dr. Ali Saleh A ventricular septal defect or VSD is a heart defect. It s congenital, this means that a
baby is born with it. It is an opening or hole in the dividing wall called the Septum, between the two
lower chambers of the heart, right and left ventricles. Ventricular septal defects are the most common
type of congenital heart defects. A VSD allows oxygen rich blood to pass from the left ventricle
through the opening in the septum. Then it mixes with oxygen poor blood in the right ventricle. There
are different types of ventricular septal defects, the type your child has depends on which part of the
wall between the ventricles is involved. Also the size of the opening or hole varies. A ventricular
septal defect may occur more often in some families, this is because of gene defects. But most of the
time, the cause is unknown. Similarly to ventricular septal defect, an Atrial septal defect is a birth
defect of the heart in which there is also a hole in the wall in the septum, but instead of dividing the
lower chambers it divides the upper chambers of the heart (atria), here a hole can vary in size and may
close on its own or may require surgery as well. An atrial septal defect is one type of congenital heart
defect, in which also the baby is born with it. For both Atrial and Ventricular septal defect the size of
the opening or hole affects how severe the child s

1. Discuss how a ROWE type program would fit in organizations where you have worked or an
establishment that you are aware of. Explain why it would or would not work.
A ROWE type program would both work and not work at my current company of Cooper Tire and
Rubber Company. The success of the program would be based on the department and their functions.
ROWE programs would not work in my current role as a Customer Service Coordinator. My current
role is a customer facing position requiring me to physically be at work and available to the customer
between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. in order to answer questions, process requests, and solve any issues that
may arrive with shipments or the product. My position is highly concentrated in email
correspondence; other positions within my department are primarily phone based. These types of
correspondences require people in the department to be accessible to answer the phones or emails and
also to provide information from or enter information into SAP. SAP requires the person to be
hardwired into Cooper s secure network. These two factors usually mean the person must be at the
office to perform the vital duties of the job. Jobs that are customer facing or jobs that require
personnel to be at a certain place at a certain time would not be ideal for ROWE. When performance is
based upon time and place ROWE type programs cannot be utilized. Departments that would be
considered time of day sensitive that could still utilize certain ROWE type

Brown Spot Disease
Controlled forest fires have been used to reduce the amount of insects and disease, improve wildlife
habitats, and reduce harmful fuels in our environment. These are just some of the things they are used
for, and few of the reasons why we should be in support of them. If you believe our environment
should live on, as healthy and for as long as it can, then controlled fires could be the answer to many
of nature s problems.
The use of controlled fires helps reduce the amount of insects and disease in that area. One disease
that is very dangerous is called Brown Spot disease. This disease is a fungal infection that may
seriously weaken and kill longleaf pine seedlings. These diseases seedlings stay in the ground at a
grass stage and can spread to many other plants and animals. Controlled fires are used when about
twenty percent of the seedlings are diseased. These fires help maintain healthy plant life in areas
where Brown Spot disease is common. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Using controlled fires is highly recommended for wildlife habitat management where loblolly,
shortleaf, longleaf, or slash pine is the primary species. The lives of several endangered species,
including the Florida panther, gopher tortoise, indigo snake, and red cockaded woodpecker are also
enhanced greatly when controlled fires are used to upkeep their habitats. Many different species lives
are improved when using the right kind of controlled burns to help keep their environments healthy
and habitable. For example fruit and seed production is stimulated, yield and quality increases occur in

Methanol Vs Isobutanol
Discussion
The results do not support the hypothesis as there is no general trend in the volume contraction.
However, there is a correlation between the number of carbon chains in the alcohol to the contraction
of the mixture. Methanol has had the most volume contraction, while having the least amount of
carbons in the molecule (CH3OH) having an average of 1.206ml in volume contraction. Whereas
Isobutanol, which has the highest amount of carbon chains (C4H9OH), has had the least amount of
average volume contraction of 0.578ml. According to the (Solubility of Things, n.d.), as the amount of
carbon atoms increases in the molecule, the alcohol has less solubility in water. This is due to how
there are more carbon atoms repulsing the water molecule, therefore having less contact as well as
hydrogen bonding with the HO chain. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Water molecules contain a unique dipole property, having the hydrogen atoms being slightly more
positive than the oxygen atom, which allows for the attraction between OH chains. Although an
alcohol molecule contains an OH chain, carbon atoms repulse the water molecules while having a
weaker dipole force leading to less volume contraction. Furthermore, due to any disturbances such as
heat or kinetic energy as well as the repulsion from the carbon atoms they are constantly transitioning
throughout the mixture. This is evident from the solubility of isobutanol and water. As there is a high
amount of repulsion between water and alcohol molecules, the alcohol floats, although there is minute
change in volume (refer to results). This separation between liquids decreases the amount of volume
contraction, as they are more segregated as shown in graph 1. This solubility of isobutanol was
expressed in (Solubility of Things, n.d.), having only 0.11% solubility in

Pyramid Door Case Analysis
I. Problem statement Which strategy should Pyramid Door, Inc. implement, along with increased
advertising for 100 dealers to achieve the sales goal of $12.5 million for the year of 2006? The four
strategic options are increasing the number of non exclusive dealers by 100, developing a formal
executive franchise with 27 dealers so they would exclusively sell Pyramid Door products, reduce the
number of non exlusive dealers by 100, and the last plan was to only do a better job with current
distribution policy and network. II. Industry Analysis A. National industry analysis: In the residential

residential garage door industry sales were expected to reach $2.2 billion with 90% of sales being steel
garage doors. Demand for replacement garage doors was driven by the continued aging of the housing
stock and the conversion of homeowners from wood doors to lighter weight, easier to maintain steel
doors. Also, product innovations such as insulated steel doors, new springing systems, and residential
garage doors with improved safety features have made steel doors increasingly popular. B. Industry
analysis in Pyramid s trade area: Pyramid Door s projected market share for 2005 was 2.6%.
Independent dealers typically sold 3 different brands and there was a clearly dominant brand which
accounted for 60% of total garage door sales, the second brand which accounted for 30% of sales, and
the weakest brand which accounted for 10% of sales. Since there are 50 exclusive dealers serving 50
markets and 300 non exclusive dealers serving 100 markets that means that there are 3 non exclusive
dealers per market. Exclusive dealers accounted for 70% of total

Essay about Civil Disobedience
The political concepts of justice and how a society should be governed have dominated literature
through out human history. The concept of peacefully resisting laws set by a governing force can be
first be depicted in the world of the Ancient Greeks in the works of Sophocles and actions of Socrates.
This popular idea has developed over the centuries and is commonly known today as civil
disobedience. Due to the works of Henry David Thoreau and Martin Luther King Jr. civil
disobedience is a well known political action to Americans; first in the application against slavery and
second in the application against segregation. Thoreau s essay Civil Disobedience and King s Letter
from Birmingham Jail are the leading arguments in defining ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Thoreau makes that evident in the following quote from his essay: There are thousands who are in
opinion opposed to slavery... who yet in effect do nothing to put an end to [it]; who, esteeming
themselves children of Washington and Franklin, sit down with their hands in their pockets, and say
that they know not what to do, and do nothing; and even postpone the question of freedom to the
question of free trade... (Thoreau, 270). Thoreau demands civil disobedience from his fellow
countryman to correct the errors of the government in regards to slavery and the war of his time.
Thoreau defines this concept as a deed of willful resistance, obtained by disobeying the hypocritical
laws. One deed he offers his countrymen to consider as their deed of civil disobedience, is a refusal to
pay taxes. Another deed, one Thoreau highly recommends, is to avert oneself from conspiring with the
government in refusing to actively participate in it. Most importantly civil disobedience is civil.
Meaning that the resistance to the government is peaceful and non violent in it s methods. King s work
in civil disobedience seems to be in agreement with Thoreau in regarding civil disobedience as a duty
of his fellow countrymen. King demands justice for the African Americans in the civil rights
movement of the 1960s in his letter. King s famous line to call the people out to demand justice from
the government, Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere, (Schulke,

total years 2322.00 x 463.00= 2785.00 total balance should be paid off. 5. The advice I can give
concerning the use of credit cards and the fees they charge would you provide to a young adult
planning on getting a credit card I would tell them that credit cards is good to have for emergencies
(ask ville2013). Most teens manage to get through those years without permanent damage. If they don
t, it is generally because of three things: addiction to tobacco, substance abuse or alcoholism and
misuse of credit cards (ask ville2013). In my conclusion many credit card companies are targeting the
consumers with not so good credit and offering their rates so high that it will take those years to pay
the balance off. Consumers should only use credit cards for emergency purposes only. Also consumers
should also think about paying off the interest off early as possible. For routine purchases you can use
a debit card, which draws money directly out of your checking account. When there is no more
money, the card stops working.

A Comparative Study Of The Integrated Kinnetic Energy In...
Review of A comparative study of the Integrated Kinetic Energy in the tropical cyclones in the north
east Pacific and the north Atlantic basins
Summary: The authors compare 2004 2013 TCs in the North Atlantic and East Pacific basins, using
IKE (TC extended best track data set) and rainfall (TRMM 3B42). The introduction defines the
concept of IKE and explains that a comparison of IKE in the EP and AL basins will be carried. The
following analysis provides the seasonal cycle of IKE and TC count, then shifts the focus to: the
relationship between IKE and TC genesis location the differences between the upper and lower
terciles of IKE in terms of:

TC genesis location the relationship between IKE ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Why is the analysis focused on genesis (Fig 2 and 5, Table 3)? Is there a hypothesized difference
between AL and EP when it comes to the relationship between location of genesis and maximum IKE?
What would that hypothesized difference tell us? What does the seasonal cycle of IKE and TC count
(Fig 1) tell us that is new? Are there expected differences with Fig 1 from Misra et al. (2013)? If TC
size explains most of IKE, the fact that IKE peaks in the fall should not come as a surprise: Liu and
Chan (1999) and Merrill (1984) have provided analyses of the size of TCs and have already
established that their size peaks in the Fall (Sept Oct). Note that the direct assertion that IKE is more
sensitive to TC size than peak wind speed is nowhere to be found in either Powell and Reinhold
(2007), Misra et al. (2013) or Kozar and Misra (2015). In fact, Misra et al. (2013) state that the peak in
TIKE is associated with a corresponding peak in larger sized storms in September because they also
determined that there is a tendency to larger TCs in September. Kozar and Misra (2015) note that IKE
is also tied to storm size and the many different processes that govern it. Besides the geometry of the
basin and the climatological atmospheric state, are there any other effects that could explain the
differences between AL and EP? It seems that parts of the analysis were designed

Application Of An Artificial Neural Network Essay
We have the previous workload information so we trained that workload information. First we
normalize the value of the workload information by using the formula Where, M = is the maximum
value along the particular column, X= is the maximum value along the particular column, Q= is the

Cause And Effect Of Chacxulub Impact
Chicxulub Impact

The Cause:
An Asteroid is formed in the inner solar system in a particular part called the Asteroid Belt, when
small particles of rock and metal collide with each other, and slowly build up over time. Planets are
formed the same way as asteroids, but what stops asteroids from growing and becoming a planet is
due to the gravitationally pull of Jupiter. The asteroid belt lies between Jupiter and mars. Because of
Jupiter s gravitationally pull the asteroid goes at a highly increased speed causing it to crash into other
asteroids in the belt, the result of this is either the asteroids bounce off one another or they break off
and don t stick together. The asteroid belt contains billions of asteroids in all different sixes. Majority

Employee Selection
Individual Research Essay
(2) Describe the different employee selection methods and specify which work best for different jobs.
Employees form the basis of a successful organisation and the abilities and behavior of employees can
vary the performance of an organisation significantly. Due to the fact that respective jobs require
specific sets of skills or attributes, selections are essential in ensuring that the most suitable candidates
are hired. Selection refers to the process of assessing candidates by various means and making a
choice followed by an offer of employment (Graham, 1998, p.206). It is often thought of as an integral
part of human resource management within an organization, which allows firms to gain a competitive

From an economic perspective, the subsequent costs of occupational fraud include a reduction of stock
prices and loss of employment. These economic costs are exemplified by the 5% of revenue lost per
annum from every average Canadian organisation as a result of employment fraud (Koletar, 2003).
According to Herman, a positive correlation exists between the degree to which a candidate could be
in a position to cause harm to others, colleagues, or the organisation and that of a reference check
(Herman, 1993). For example, public servants and jobs that necessitate the handling of inordinate
amounts of money would warrant a background check, as the risk of financial losses or damage to
government organization reputations are higher.
Interviews remain a widely used selection technique in contemporary industries despite the relative
unreliability of this method. Dipboye reports that approximately 70% of organizations in the United
States utilize interviews as the main selection strategy in both promotion and recruitment ( Dipboye,
1992). A selection interview can be broadly delineated as a dialogue initiated by one or persons to
gather information and evaluate the qualifications of an applicant for employment (Dipboye, 1992).
The exclusion of other specific qualifications such as interpersonal skills, personal motivations and

Scapegoating. According to Urban Dictionary, a scapegoat is defined as, A person or person or object
that is used to lay the blame on for all that goes wrong, regardless of the contributions of others. This
will usually carry on until the scapegoat has gone, or has managed to successfully defend itself against
the arguments presented to it .The pointing out of a person as an accused or a sinner happens because
of the intolerance to any deviation from the society beliefs. This is seen in the play,The Crucible;

If I say I know something about the device, it ll be be I lied, I m screwed, but al least my family will

him said that if he would not cooperate, his family would be in a lot trouble. Under so much intense
pressure he accepted to lie so that his family could be secure. But later on he was proved innocent as
the FBI realized that he was not the right man they wanted. In the play The Crucible, the main
emotion which led to loss of innocent lives was that of vengence. In this play, the illicit relationship
between Abigail and Proctor became the source of frustration for Abigail, as seen when she says, She
is blackening my name in the village! She is telling lies about me! She is a cold, sniveling woman, and
you bend to her! Let her turn you like a (Millar, 23). This frustration led to the emotion of vengeance
which was so evil that it consumed whoever came in it s path. In Death Penalty Disgrace, Davis was

Rhetorical Analysis Of Henry s Speech
Paragraph One
In the beginning of the speech, Henry uses a cautious but also assertive tone.
In delivering this speech, Henry intended to highlight the problems caused by Britain, and convince
the American people to fight back against British rule.
Phrases such as the majesty of heaven, which I revere above all earthly kings and nothing less then a
question of freedom or slavery showcase usage of antithesis in the speech.
Henry is appealing to the patriotism and emotions of his audience by mentioning things such as a
question of freedom or slavery , the great responsibility which we hold to God and our country , and
the very worth gentlemen who have just addressed the House .
By comparing the majesty of heaven to earthly kings , Henry is appealing to ethos, or the audience s
concept of ethics.
The phrase freely, and without reserve is an example of parallelism. References to God are an example
of allusion, as most of Henry s audience practiced Christianity. Paragraph Two
The purpose of this section of the talk is to show people s desire to ignore the truth about the state of
their country, and to warn against doing so.
Henry is trying to show how one s default or natural response to the hardships they were facing at the
hands of British rule might be to turn their head the other way.
Henry s reference to Ezekiel 12:2 ( having eyes, see not, and, having ears, hear not ) was a way to
draw attention to injustices that he saw among the American people. Because most

The Flaws of the Socratic Method
The Flaws of the Socratic Method
In Plato s Republic, as well as in most of his other works, the philosopher writes dialogues between
the character of his mentor, Socrates, and various figures meant to illustrate contradictory positions.
He carefully scripts the engagements in a form of discussion now called the Socratic Method, where
Socrates critiques the positions of the other characters in order to find flaws in inaccurate arguments.
Although this method is prevalent even today, I will make the case that even when Plato himself is
using it, the Socratic Method, while not without benefits, is an extremely flawed way of conducting
educational discourse.
The Socratic Method is a dialectic method of argument, meaning that the ... Show more content on

The very nature of the Socratic Method makes for long and winding discussions, because the Method
aims to strip away any falsehoods but provides few tools for building towards the truths for which it
aims. Without a way to cull the ideas presented by the students, a professor must engage each of them
as comprehensively as the next regardless of their accuracy, or else compromise the integrity of the
dialogue. If he or she instead opts to inseminate information in a more traditional education style, each
lecture and discussion can be tailored to divulge a specific concept and a specific and relevant set of
arguments and objections can be presented and rejected, rather than struggling through a freeform
conversation with inconsistent results varying from classroom to classroom (Ford 3) (Chen and
Taylor).
Additionally, the constant refutation of students necessitated by a teacher engaging them in a Socratic
Dialectic has a questionable impact on the academic outlook of students. Christopher Ford describes
the modern usage of the Socratic Method as psychologically abusive, saying that the public
questioning is terrifying and that the style is both invasive in that student s knowledge/intelligence is
publically examined, and evasive in that the professor hides the ball from the students. This practice of
systematically and ruthlessly deconstructing any and all flaws in a student s argument can be
extremely humiliating and can trigger

place where we felt that all of our problems will be sorted. We bought the tickets weeks before the
venue and we were all counting the days back with full of excitement like little kids around Christmas
and the day had come. When we got off the road the beat of the music in the background just hit our
ears. As we approached to the scene the music got louder with our excitement as well and we finally
got there. Hundreds of our friends were already jumping around to our special music in the hangar
with the hugest smile in their face. I could feel the love in the air in the shadow of the laser lights. We
were so happy that we could not describe in words. This made us feel that we don t have to worry
about anything in our life, that we part of a family where everyone respects each other. That s what
made us feel different and being part of something that not many people could tell back in the days.
Can t deny that club drugs helped to achieve this feeling and it was a massive part of it as well. We
were confused teenagers who desperately tried to find the way to make sense of this whole world. We

The distribution of the test statistic under the null hypothesis is derived from the assumptions
identified previously. Common test statistics may follow the following distributions: Normal, Student
T, and Chi Square. This distribution separates the possible values of the estimator into two categories:
values for which the null hypothesis is accepted or rejected. The region for which we accept the null
hypothesis is called the critical region and the area underneath the curve that corresponds to the
critical region is known as the level of confidence. Hence, we can develop a confidence interval for
which we can see the lowest and highest point of the critical region. Any observed sample mean that
lies outside of this confidence interval (outside the critical region) would cause us to reject the null
hypothesis in favor of the alternative hypothesis. The area of the rejection region is known as the level
of significance and represents type I error (alpha) corresponding to the probability that a true null
hypothesis is rejected (as opposed to type II error beta; the probability of accepting a false null
hypothesis). Essentially, hypothesis testing calls for comparing a test statistic to the critical value of
the test statistic. If this test statistic is greater than the critical value of the test statistic, we will reject
the null hypothesis in favor of the alternative hypothesis. If

Utopian Urbanism That Forms Utopic Degeneration
From recent years, utopian urbanism connects with the so called crisis of modernist urbanism that
forms utopic degeneration. Utopia has developed to mean a community with a visionary system of
political and societal perfection, where cities that function to improve the daily lives of its citizens; an
ideal society, However these concepts are more often than not depicted as an impossible dream, yet
too bold, too radical to ever exist in real life. Some utopian visions are focused on new technology,
whereas others are on intact landscapes. In other occasions, some are based on new social orders, but
all were combined under a radical avant garde and progressive architecture. It is this, their new and
bold concepts that drive the imagination of architects and town planners. Although rarely realized in
full, principles from some utopian visions have been adopted in part and have had significant
influence on existing cities such as New York, Chandigarh and Paris. They are a catalyst for
generating ideas and new forms of thinking that leads to, for better or for worse the many innovations
in 21st century urban planning. Since utopian thinking can produce a vision of the future that is
achievable, what is the connection between having a vision of the future, whether achievable or not,
and utopian thinking?

Jack The Ripper Compare And Contrast
Jack the Ripper is a figure that has mystified people for a hundred years. One of the first known serial
killers, he killed prostitutes in England from August to November in 1888. Most serial killers have
signatures often indicative of their specific psychology and the Ripper case is no exception to that.
Oftentimes, Jack the Ripper murdered opportunistically, watching for victims with similar situations
to each other.
The first murder, of Mary Ann Nicholls, took place on 31 August. Annie Chapman was killed on 8
September. Elizabeth Stride and Catherine Eddowes were murdered 30 September and Mary Jane

them. For example, the victims were all prostitutes. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The idea of weekend slaughter is itself strange: prostitutes walked the streets of Whitechapel every

inches or so from the ground... (Casebook, n.d.) This method also prevented the killer from being

terms of love. She left all vocal acrobatics aside, and creatively rendered a straightforward love song

Thought it is appropriate to say that the song has all the elements of a hit single, Just A Fool did not go

Emission Standards of the Diesel Engine
Diesel engines began to be used in automobiles in the 1930s. They are used in many trucks, ships,
buses and small passenger cars in Europe right now.[1] Many believe that diesel engine are heavier,
noisier and generate black smock when running. However, diesel engine s unique advantages can
make them the engine of the future for vehicles. And with much more stringent standard to take effect
in the future, diesel engine s emissions and control technologies are still very much in the forefront.
This paper will cover the developments in diesel vehicles emission regulation and control technology
for NOx, particulate matter (PM) for diesel vehicles.
Regulation
Right now there are two kinds of emission standard in US. One of them is federal standards
established by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and another is California standards.
Since the State of California are facing more severe air pollutant problem than most of other state,
they choose to adopt its own emission regulations. The California Air Resources Board (ARB)
establish engine and vehicle emission regulations that are often more stringent than the federal rules.
Other states can make their own decision to either implement the federal emission standards or to use
California requirements.
After the Clean Air Act Amendments (CAAA) on 1990, two sets of standards have been defined for
light duty vehicles. Tier I standard was published in 1991 and was phased in between 1994 and 1997.

Era Of Good Feelings Dbq Analysis
There had been a war between Britain and America, it was known as the War of 1812. This war was
the turning point of America because it had soon led the nation to an Era of Good Feelings. The Era of
Good Feelings is an ironic name because during this time period (1815 1825), it promoted both
sectionalism and nationalism. Although some felt strongly for one way, there were some people who
were in the middle and not exactly which sure they agreed with most. Nationalism is the unification of

console and therefore able to hand the best graphics and hold the most storage. Because of this Breath
of the Wild is the biggest and most expansive game yet. One of the most defining features of the new
game is the addition of voice acting (all dialog is spoken rather than just having text across the
screen). Breath of the Wild has already recived multiple great reviews from critics and casual gamers
alike.
The Legend of Zelda revolutionized the video game industry and community. From the first time
playing it, to the 100th time beating the final level, Zelda has been enjoyed by millions over the years.
Wether it be the Original, a Ocarina of Time, or Breath of the Wild, this series is a timeless classic that
has been around for over 30 years and will still be here for many years to come.

I have developed skills such as patience, motivation, management and communication and learned to
work close and interactively with people. These skills would be beneficial and apply to work in
therapy, and my experience with people whilst coaching would also be an advantage. I am personally
a very keen learner with strong work ethic and enjoy taking on challenges to learn new things. I would
need to improve my planning skills to succeed in the line of work which I feel will develop over my

The Literary Style Of Edgar Allan Poe
No two authors are ever identical, they craft their stories precisely while mixing in their own style to
differentiate them from the others and allow them to stand out. Many respected authors use literary
devices to make the work their own. For instance, well renown author Edgar Allan Poe has a style that
is famous for its unusual usage of the many literary devices to contribute to his Gothic writings. Poe s
style is bound together with what we see in most of his work such as using diction to create allegories
and allusions, using mood to create suspense, and symbolism to create a meaning deeper than what
our eyes see. To demonstrate an idea through words on a paper takes a skillful writer, but to use those
words to make the story a whole new idea than what is written, the writer must have a style that is
different and flexible such as Poe s. Poe takes a contrastive path with diction in almost all of his
works. Each word he uses is part of an overall view, such as in the story The Raven , Poe uses vivid
verbs and rare words to convey an idea that everything he has written about is an allegory to the
memories of Lenore. Also, one of his other works uses his word choice to relate the narrator to the
Book of Revelations. Poe uses the sentence And then my vision fell upon the seven tall candles upon
the table. , he uses this set of words to relate the man in the black robes to the Judgement of Man in
the Book of Revelations (Pit 1). Poe uses all the help he can get from his words to compose something
that stands out from other published authors. His usage of allegories and allusions make his stories
authentic. Mood plays an enormous part in a narrative writing. It gives you a feel of the story and what
the author is trying to convey. Poe uses mood to make you feel what the narrator is feeling. Such as in
The Pit and the Pendulum , Poe uses repetition and imagery to create the mood of the story for us to
feel as if we were in the narrator s shoes. In most of Poe s works he uses mood and centers the whole
story around it to appeal to the audience. In Cask of Amontillado the narrator and Fortunato go down
to the catacombs of his ancestors. While getting lower into the catacombs, Poe starts to use the

  • 2. Albert Bandura s Social Learning Theory Introduction Albert Bandura s Social Learning Theory is a theory that includes development theories in order to understand how children learn. Bandura s theory is based on how people can learn by observing others, how internal mental states influence people, and how learning something does not change one s behavior every time. Bandura was able to find out that people learn by three observational models. The first model is the live model which includes observing how someone demonstrates the behavior, the verbal instruction model which learning occurs through auditory directions, and the symbolic model where modeling occurs through media sources such as internet, movies, and books. Teachers have been influenced greatly in their classes by Bandura s theories in order to meet the needs of various different learning styles. As an educator I have observed some teachers who use a teaching format that does not include students in observational learning and they tend to be less motivated than those students who learn by the observational models. My paper will discuss Bandura s biography, observational learning models, and self efficacy in learning. Bandura s Biography Albert Bandura was born on December 4, 1925 in a small town in the province of Alberta, Canada. He attended a small high school that had only twenty students and only two teachers. Bandura received his B.A at the University of British Columbia in 1949 and received his doctorate at the University of Iowa in 1952. He ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Summary of Source: In 1857, Dred Scott a slave owned by John Emerson sued Emerson s estate and brought the case to Chief Justice Roger Taney of the supreme court. This case all started because back in early 1850s, when Emerson wanted to move from Missouri a slave state to Illinois a free state. Now years later, when Emerson want to move back, Scott refuses and stated that he is a free man now base on Illiois law.In Chief Justice Roger Taney finial verdict he states many reasons why a slave can never become a citizen with the same rights as a white man. This is because since the Founding Father times, slaves African ancestry ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore many conflict between Northern, Republican and Southern, Democrat arose since both side wanted new western states to fall under their views. Missouri compromise of 1819 was introduced to help fix the issue. However after Missouri Compromise, many other new states were admitted therefore came the Kansas vs Nebraska act of 1854 which allowed popular sovereignty which is the people voting for whether the new states become free or slave. This backfires because Illinois was a free state and by their law it meant that Dred Scott was a free man. • 4. Elizabeth Blackburn Research Paper Elizabeth Blackburn is an amazing woman; who comes from a family of physicians. She has always had a passion for animals and science; she found biology to be her favorite subject in school. She was fascinated by the visual impacts of science through books. Perhaps, it is her enthusiasm for biology that inspired her to be one of the leading biochemists today. Elizabeth helped in the discovery of the fountain of youth. Elizabeth and two of her colleagues discovered a way for chromosomes to be copied during cell division. Within this discovery, they also found a unique DNA sequence in the telomeres that protects these cells against degradation. In 2009, Dr. Blackburn was awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine. Blackburn was born in 1948, in the city of Hobart in Tasmania, Australia. Elizabeth is the second oldest of seven children. Her parents, uncle, and her aunt were all physicians and her grandfather (on her father s side) collected Cleopatra beetles. When she was four years old, her family moved to the town of Launceston. In Launceston, she attended the Broadland House Church of England Girls Grammar School. At sixteen years old, her family relocated to Melbourne, Australia. • 5. Galileo s Observation Of Astronomy Galileo s use of the telescope in 1609 revolutionized the field of astronomy because his observations disproved the geocentric theory and provided strong evidence for the Copernican/Heliocentric system. Galileo discovered four satellites orbiting Jupiter; this observation contradicted the geocentric theory by proving that it is possible for objects to orbit something other than Earth. His observation of the phases of Venus supported the heliocentric theory because he discovered they were similar to the Moon s phases (from thin crescent to full) which would not be possible if Venus orbited the Earth as it would never pass behind the Sun. Further, he observed that Venus changed size which would be expected if it was orbiting the sun as predicted by the Copernican system. Ground based telescopes are limited because atmospheric light absorption prevents most wavelengths of light from reaching the ground; only visible light, radio waves and some infrared wavelengths can be observed from ground based telescopes. Space telescopes are advantageous because they are above the atmosphere and thus allow us to observe other wavelengths such as gamma rays, x rays, ultraviolet and infrared. They are also unaffected by weather, daylight, and light pollution. Another advantage of space telescopes is that they can provide sharper images because they are unaffected by atmospheric turbulence which can blur the images of ground based telescopes (a phenomenon known as seeing ). • 6. Atrial And Ventricular Septal Defects ATRIAL AND VENTRICULAR SEPTAL DEFECTS Yulissa R. De Leon June 26, 2016 BS 104 ME1 Dr. Ali Saleh A ventricular septal defect or VSD is a heart defect. It s congenital, this means that a baby is born with it. It is an opening or hole in the dividing wall called the Septum, between the two lower chambers of the heart, right and left ventricles. Ventricular septal defects are the most common type of congenital heart defects. A VSD allows oxygen rich blood to pass from the left ventricle through the opening in the septum. Then it mixes with oxygen poor blood in the right ventricle. There are different types of ventricular septal defects, the type your child has depends on which part of the wall between the ventricles is involved. Also the size of the opening or hole varies. A ventricular septal defect may occur more often in some families, this is because of gene defects. But most of the time, the cause is unknown. Similarly to ventricular septal defect, an Atrial septal defect is a birth defect of the heart in which there is also a hole in the wall in the septum, but instead of dividing the lower chambers it divides the upper chambers of the heart (atria), here a hole can vary in size and may close on its own or may require surgery as well. An atrial septal defect is one type of congenital heart defect, in which also the baby is born with it. The success of the program would be based on the department and their functions. ROWE programs would not work in my current role as a Customer Service Coordinator. My current role is a customer facing position requiring me to physically be at work and available to the customer between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. in order to answer questions, process requests, and solve any issues that may arrive with shipments or the product. My position is highly concentrated in email correspondence; other positions within my department are primarily phone based. These types of correspondences require people in the department to be accessible to answer the phones or emails and also to provide information from or enter information into SAP. SAP requires the person to be hardwired into Cooper s secure network. These two factors usually mean the person must be at the office to perform the vital duties of the job. Jobs that are customer facing or jobs that require personnel to be at a certain place at a certain time would not be ideal for ROWE. These are just some of the things they are used for, and few of the reasons why we should be in support of them. If you believe our environment should live on, as healthy and for as long as it can, then controlled fires could be the answer to many of nature s problems. The use of controlled fires helps reduce the amount of insects and disease in that area. One disease that is very dangerous is called Brown Spot disease. This disease is a fungal infection that may seriously weaken and kill longleaf pine seedlings. These diseases seedlings stay in the ground at a grass stage and can spread to many other plants and animals. Controlled fires are used when about twenty percent of the seedlings are diseased. However, there is a correlation between the number of carbon chains in the alcohol to the contraction of the mixture. Methanol has had the most volume contraction, while having the least amount of carbons in the molecule (CH3OH) having an average of 1.206ml in volume contraction. Whereas Isobutanol, which has the highest amount of carbon chains (C4H9OH), has had the least amount of average volume contraction of 0.578ml. According to the (Solubility of Things, n.d.), as the amount of carbon atoms increases in the molecule, the alcohol has less solubility in water. This is due to how there are more carbon atoms repulsing the water molecule, therefore having less contact as well as hydrogen bonding with the HO chain. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Water molecules contain a unique dipole property, having the hydrogen atoms being slightly more positive than the oxygen atom, which allows for the attraction between OH chains. Although an alcohol molecule contains an OH chain, carbon atoms repulse the water molecules while having a weaker dipole force leading to less volume contraction. Furthermore, due to any disturbances such as heat or kinetic energy as well as the repulsion from the carbon atoms they are constantly transitioning throughout the mixture. This is evident from the solubility of isobutanol and water. As there is a high amount of repulsion between water and alcohol molecules, the alcohol floats, although there is minute change in volume (refer to results). This separation between liquids decreases the amount of volume contraction, as they are more segregated as shown in graph 1. The concept of peacefully resisting laws set by a governing force can be first be depicted in the world of the Ancient Greeks in the works of Sophocles and actions of Socrates. This popular idea has developed over the centuries and is commonly known today as civil disobedience. Due to the works of Henry David Thoreau and Martin Luther King Jr. civil disobedience is a well known political action to Americans; first in the application against slavery and second in the application against segregation. (Thoreau, 270). Thoreau demands civil disobedience from his fellow countryman to correct the errors of the government in regards to slavery and the war of his time. Thoreau defines this concept as a deed of willful resistance, obtained by disobeying the hypocritical laws. One deed he offers his countrymen to consider as their deed of civil disobedience, is a refusal to pay taxes. Another deed, one Thoreau highly recommends, is to avert oneself from conspiring with the government in refusing to actively participate in it. Most importantly civil disobedience is civil. King s work in civil disobedience seems to be in agreement with Thoreau in regarding civil disobedience as a duty of his fellow countrymen. In my conclusion many credit card companies are targeting the consumers with not so good credit and offering their rates so high that it will take those years to pay the balance off. Consumers should only use credit cards for emergency purposes only. Also consumers should also think about paying off the interest off early as possible. If TC size explains most of IKE, the fact that IKE peaks in the fall should not come as a surprise: Liu and Chan (1999) and Merrill (1984) have provided analyses of the size of TCs and have already established that their size peaks in the Fall (Sept Oct). This frustration led to the emotion of vengeance which was so evil that it consumed whoever came in it s path. In Death Penalty Disgrace, Davis was put through a lot of emotional stress so much so that he was almost executed three times before being punished finally for something for which he claimed he never did. • 24. Rhetorical Analysis Of Henry s Speech Paragraph One In the beginning of the speech, Henry uses a cautious but also assertive tone. In delivering this speech, Henry intended to highlight the problems caused by Britain, and convince the American people to fight back against British rule. Phrases such as the majesty of heaven, which I revere above all earthly kings and nothing less then a question of freedom or slavery showcase usage of antithesis in the speech. Henry is appealing to the patriotism and emotions of his audience by mentioning things such as a question of freedom or slavery , the great responsibility which we hold to God and our country , and the very worth gentlemen who have just addressed the House . By comparing the majesty of heaven to earthly kings , Henry is appealing to ethos, or the audience s concept of ethics. The phrase freely, and without reserve is an example of parallelism. References to God are an example of allusion, as most of Henry s audience practiced Christianity. Paragraph Two The purpose of this section of the talk is to show people s desire to ignore the truth about the state of their country, and to warn against doing so. Henry is trying to show how one s default or natural response to the hardships they were facing at the hands of British rule might be to turn their head the other way. Henry s reference to Ezekiel 12:2 ( having eyes, see not, and, having ears, hear not ) was a way to draw attention to injustices that he saw among the American people. Because most ... The Flaws of the Socratic Method The Flaws of the Socratic Method In Plato s Republic, as well as in most of his other works, the philosopher writes dialogues between the character of his mentor, Socrates, and various figures meant to illustrate contradictory positions. He carefully scripts the engagements in a form of discussion now called the Socratic Method, where Socrates critiques the positions of the other characters in order to find flaws in inaccurate arguments. Although this method is prevalent even today, I will make the case that even when Plato himself is using it, the Socratic Method, while not without benefits, is an extremely flawed way of conducting educational discourse. The Socratic Method is a dialectic method of argument, meaning that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The very nature of the Socratic Method makes for long and winding discussions, because the Method aims to strip away any falsehoods but provides few tools for building towards the truths for which it aims. Without a way to cull the ideas presented by the students, a professor must engage each of them as comprehensively as the next regardless of their accuracy, or else compromise the integrity of the dialogue. If he or she instead opts to inseminate information in a more traditional education style, each lecture and discussion can be tailored to divulge a specific concept and a specific and relevant set of arguments and objections can be presented and rejected, rather than struggling through a freeform conversation with inconsistent results varying from classroom to classroom (Ford 3) (Chen and Taylor). Additionally, the constant refutation of students necessitated by a teacher engaging them in a Socratic Dialectic has a questionable impact on the academic outlook of students. Christopher Ford describes the modern usage of the Socratic Method as psychologically abusive, saying that the public questioning is terrifying and that the style is both invasive in that student s knowledge/intelligence is publically examined, and evasive in that the professor hides the ball from the students. This practice of systematically and ruthlessly deconstructing any and all flaws in a student s argument can be extremely humiliating and can trigger ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We bought the tickets weeks before the venue and we were all counting the days back with full of excitement like little kids around Christmas and the day had come. When we got off the road the beat of the music in the background just hit our ears. As we approached to the scene the music got louder with our excitement as well and we finally got there. Hundreds of our friends were already jumping around to our special music in the hangar with the hugest smile in their face. I could feel the love in the air in the shadow of the laser lights. We were so happy that we could not describe in words. This made us feel that we don t have to worry about anything in our life, that we part of a family where everyone respects each other. That s what made us feel different and being part of something that not many people could tell back in the days. Can t deny that club drugs helped to achieve this feeling and it was a massive part of it as well. We were confused teenagers who desperately tried to find the way to make sense of this whole world. The distribution of the test statistic under the null hypothesis is derived from the assumptions identified previously. Common test statistics may follow the following distributions: Normal, Student T, and Chi Square. This distribution separates the possible values of the estimator into two categories: values for which the null hypothesis is accepted or rejected. The region for which we accept the null hypothesis is called the critical region and the area underneath the curve that corresponds to the critical region is known as the level of confidence. Hence, we can develop a confidence interval for which we can see the lowest and highest point of the critical region. Any observed sample mean that lies outside of this confidence interval (outside the critical region) would cause us to reject the null hypothesis in favor of the alternative hypothesis. The area of the rejection region is known as the level of significance and represents type I error (alpha) corresponding to the probability that a true null hypothesis is rejected (as opposed to type II error beta; the probability of accepting a false null hypothesis). • 29. Utopian Urbanism That Forms Utopic Degeneration From recent years, utopian urbanism connects with the so called crisis of modernist urbanism that forms utopic degeneration. Utopia has developed to mean a community with a visionary system of political and societal perfection, where cities that function to improve the daily lives of its citizens; an ideal society, However these concepts are more often than not depicted as an impossible dream, yet too bold, too radical to ever exist in real life. Some utopian visions are focused on new technology, whereas others are on intact landscapes. In other occasions, some are based on new social orders, but all were combined under a radical avant garde and progressive architecture. It is this, their new and bold concepts that drive the imagination of architects and town planners. Although rarely realized in full, principles from some utopian visions have been adopted in part and have had significant influence on existing cities such as New York, Chandigarh and Paris. They are a catalyst for generating ideas and new forms of thinking that leads to, for better or for worse the many innovations in 21st century urban planning. Since utopian thinking can produce a vision of the future that is achievable, what is the connection between having a vision of the future, whether achievable or not, and utopian thinking? • 41. The Literary Style Of Edgar Allan Poe No two authors are ever identical, they craft their stories precisely while mixing in their own style to differentiate them from the others and allow them to stand out. Many respected authors use literary devices to make the work their own. For instance, well renown author Edgar Allan Poe has a style that is famous for its unusual usage of the many literary devices to contribute to his Gothic writings. Poe s style is bound together with what we see in most of his work such as using diction to create allegories and allusions, using mood to create suspense, and symbolism to create a meaning deeper than what our eyes see. To demonstrate an idea through words on a paper takes a skillful writer, but to use those words to make the story a whole new idea than what is written, the writer must have a style that is different and flexible such as Poe s. Poe takes a contrastive path with diction in almost all of his works. Each word he uses is part of an overall view, such as in the story The Raven , Poe uses vivid verbs and rare words to convey an idea that everything he has written about is an allegory to the memories of Lenore. Also, one of his other works uses his word choice to relate the narrator to the Book of Revelations. Poe uses the sentence And then my vision fell upon the seven tall candles upon the table. , he uses this set of words to relate the man in the black robes to the Judgement of Man in the Book of Revelations (Pit 1). Poe uses all the help he can get from his words to compose something that stands out from other published authors. His usage of allegories and allusions make his stories authentic. Mood plays an enormous part in a narrative writing. It gives you a feel of the story and what the author is trying to convey. Poe uses mood to make you feel what the narrator is feeling. Such as in The Pit and the Pendulum , Poe uses repetition and imagery to create the mood of the story for us to feel as if we were in the narrator s shoes. In most of Poe s works he uses mood and centers the whole story around it to appeal to the audience. In Cask of Amontillado the narrator and Fortunato go down to the catacombs of his ancestors.
