1. Study case #4
When discipline problems occur in the classroom, the teacher must act in the issue not involving
him/her into the discussion (because in this case is a discussion) but suppressing the misbehavior of
the students who are into the intense argument. The ideal is to move closer to the students,
maintaining eye contact, being serious allthe time, not involving allthe class, justtalking directly with
the students that are using a hostile language.
Letting them know that this is not the best behavior for the activity and that they can change the
direction of the dispute for the common benefit of the class.
Remember them that the aim of the activity is to share experiences, being polite all the time and
respectful. Don’t do what they don’t want to feel.
Reorganize the discussion could be effective, invite other students to participate after resolving the
problem among the group. Create a new environment and repeat instructions if necessary also be
clear and allow them to retreat from the confrontation if they show a posture for it.
Motivate the students again, do a warming up if necessary to change the climate of the class. Make
them participate again, check the understanding of the goal of the activity and show them that I have
the control of the class and they can participate but under my class rules.
