Media Is The Cause Of Violence In America s Youth
Since the beginning of time, there has been violence. However, recently society has been putting
the blame on media such as movies, television, literature, video games and music. This blame
placing became very relevant in 1985 when Parents Music Resource Center was founded as a way
to ban, restrict or censor media that was found to not only be inappropriate, but was also apparently
the cause of violencein America s youth. While some still agree that media is the sole reason
behind the increase in drug usage, suicide and murder, that is not the case. A piece called

An Age Old Southern Controversy
The Civil War began in the 1860 s and was one of the most important events in southern and U.S.
history. In the south one of the major symbols of the war was the confederate flag. For me
personally since I am from South Carolina I have found that there are two separate views on the
flag which would be the supporting and opposing sides. The supporting side is said to be majority
of white southerners and the opposing side is said to be majority of black southerners and white
northerners (Webster and Leib). According to Webster and Leib white and black southerners have
pride in their southern heritage, but the heritage is much different. What I would like ... Show more

He explains that the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment provides that no
state may deny to any person within its authority the equal protection of the law . Forman claims
that it should be impossible for people to view the flag as a symbol of equality. Forman believes
that the confederate flag violates the First Amendment by chilling the desire and ability of black
citizens to exercise fully their First Amendment rights, which is their freedom of speech. The
Black citizens felt like they did not have a say on the flag being up on state grounds (Forman).
The opposing side of the flag did not like it up so much that in the early 2000 s there was a
boycott against the state of South Carolina due to the fact the flag was still up. This boycott cost
the state $7 million dollars in revenue lost (Allen). The rebels were fighting for territory, for
economic control, and obviously for slavery. The Confederate flag has been used throughout this
century as a symbol by the Klan, skinheads, and other white supremacists opposed to black
demands for equality and constitutional protection (Forman). In my personal understanding of what
Forman, Webster, and Leib believe is that everyone who supports the flag is a part of the white
supremacist groups and just

A Streetcar Named Desire Dysfunctional Family
The study spotlights on the familial dysfunctionality as presented in the plays of Tennessee
Williams. The families presented in most of his plays are dysfunctional because of multiple
incompatibilities. A family whose interrelationships serve to detract from, rather than promote, the
emotional and physical health and well being of its members. Dysfunctional families are
characterized by following characteristics which are blaming or failure of responsibility, loose or
rigid rules or relationships, and set familyrules. Sexual or physical abuse, addiction to alcohol or
drugs, behavior problems, mental diseases, and aggression can all attribute to dysfunctional
families, physical evidence found in The Glass Menagerie, A Cat on Hot Tin Roof and A Street
Car Named Desire. All these families are dysfunctional families, and overpowering coincides with
psychological symptoms and characteristics. Like a physical disease, the mental and emotional
disease shows common symptoms, and with these symptoms psychologists can diagnose and chart
the severity of the disease. The most common symptoms are rigid discussion which may be
confused or chaotic, disagreements that offends the members of family, a disagreeable
environment, tight and unshared emotion, a lack of good humor and the nature to laugh at one s

Terrorism And Political Aspects Of Terrorism In The Media
One of the most spoken topics in the media today is terrorism besides any other type of violence.
What is terrorism, everyone has a different version in their dictionary. Some blame a whole
nation for terrorism, some blame a whole religious group for the actions of only a few. As we
know the word terror means extreme fear. A terrorist is someone who creates an atmosphere filled
with fear amongst the people that are there. They go against rules and ethics and do very disturbing
things which is called terrorism. Terrorism is the unlawful use of violence and intimidation, this
type of violence is used especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims. They kill
innocent people or government/state/or city officials who oppose their wants. The purpose of the
actions the terrorists have is to create an atmosphere of fear to suit their wants. Terrorists murder
and kidnap people, set off bombs, hijack airplanes, set fires, and commit other serious crimes. But
the goals of terrorists differ from those of ordinary criminals. Most criminals want money or some
other form of personal gain. Most terrorists commit crimes to support political causes. Features of
terrorism. Terrorist acts are committed for various reasons.
They often threaten to kill the hostages if their demands are not met. Some terrorism involves the
intentional release of toxic chemicals, poisons, or other harmful substances. Bombings makeup
about half of all terrorist acts. Terrorism may cross national

The environmental impacts of a diet based in animal products is well documented and is the
source of much debate. According to a controversial United Nations report entitled Livestock s
Long Shadow (2006), The livestock sector emerges as one of the top two or three most significant
contributors to the most serious environmental problems, at every scale from local to global. For
those committed to reducing their environmental impacts, one solution would be to transfer to a
vegetarian or even vegan diet. It is not necessarily ethical to prescribe one way of being for
environmentalists all over the world, especially without thinking about differences in cultures.
However, most committed environmentalists should adopt a ... Show more content on

Environmentalists take many different forms and are influenced by different perceptions of nature.
Their definition of the environment may vary from person to person. Some view humans as separate
from nature, while others view humans and nonhuman animals as part of the environment. This
most directly affects how environmentalists and others view animals in our society.
Environmentalists who are informed by various ideologies often lack a strong opinion about the
treatment of animals in relation to diet and the environment. Arne Naess, who is credited with
coining the term deep ecology is vague stating that the killing of animals for human consumption is
justified when it is a vital human need without much further clarification (Waller 1997). This stance
has been criticised by Waller (1997, p. 191) who states, To have no stand on vegetarianismis to have
no practical stand on land use, availability of food, quality of human life, and the ethics of human
nonhuman interaction an interaction which, for all of deep ecology s evasions, occurs always
between the particular constituents of nature.
Forms of Plant based Diets
The spectrum of plant based diets is much broader and complex than simply choosing not to eat
meat. For example, The American Council on Science and Health differentiates vegetarianism into
eight categories based

separate spaces. The equine center, clinic, treehouse, cabin, bathhouse, as well as the pavilion all
have a sense of separate yet connected to allow for a sense of continuity throughout the site s

The connection of the arena and the round pin to the barn, was a challenge we encountered. After
doing research, we came together and decided to incorporate a colorful walkway that compliments
the aesthetics as well as making the building more appealing to the clients. While the equine center
has the colorful walkway, the clinic and the bath house have a louver system along the exterior
facade. This louver system will allow the clients to interact with the building, as well as being in
control of the environment that is around them. The thought of physically being able to move the
louvers grants the client the option to leave their mark on the building. The design of the clinic is
three separate parts that all connect at the corners. This design is connected together at the center
with an interactive outdoor corridor. Underneath the overhang for the outdoor corridor are stepping
stones that have the option for children to have their own specific stepping stones that are different
from an adults. On the clinic, Studio 6 incorporated a sense of biophilia by using a small creek,
flowing from the exterior of the structure into the courtyard. This small element brings an overall
relaxing sense to the clients and increases one s chance of overcoming the trauma they have been
through. Along with the creek, we emphasized on the

life is changed forever. The shiny image of a once bright world full of promise dulls. Unfortunately,
every individual will experience the deathof a loved one at least once in their life. No words can
soothe the agony of losing a loved one. State legislatures are familiar with this grief and have

This method may have been sufficient in the 10th century when people were illiterate and
believed the world was flat; however, the scientific world since then has grown exponentially.
Science is a powerful study, aiding us in understanding the complex process life and the absence
of life, death. Pathology, the science of disease, has assisted in the arrests of countless criminals,
uncovering the truth and more notably providing a sense of closure for the loved ones of the
deceased. A coroner system without the foundation of science is a system that keeps murders on
the streets, the innocent behinds bars and prosecutors frozen in cases. The most memorable
example of inefficiency is Dr. Paul McGarry, who made careless errors in not just one but four
autopsies. In the case of new prison inmate Cayne Miceli, McGarry initially determined the cause
of death to be a drug overdose. Upon the further examination, a second examiner found a heap of
mucus in her lungs indicating she had severe asthma. The doctor then concluded the real cause of
death was the jail restraints on her chest blocked her airways during an asthma attack (Thompson,
2011, para 13 16). A peculiar fact about the case was the McGarry concluded the cause of death
before he got the test results. Could he had been trying to hide something? After all, he is an

The Advantages Of Major League Baseball Salary Cap
There are five major sports leagues in the United States; Major League Baseball, Major League
Soccer, the National Basketball Association (which has what is known as a soft salary cap), the
National Football League, and the National Hockey League. Of these five, only baseball lacks
what is known as a salary cap. A salary cap is the upper limit of the combined salaries for a team
s players. In the other four sports I mentioned, having to work within the boundaries of a salary
cap is a balancing act, to gain an advantage at one position requires you to be at a disadvantage at
another position. For example, to have a top tier quarterback in the NFL like Tom Brady or Aaron
Rodgers and the large salary they command, a team might lack the funds to sign a top tier
linebacker or cornerback. With Major League Baseballlacking a salary cap, this balancing act
vanishes and teams could sign anyone and everyone they wished. This causes a competitive
imbalance that is hurting the sport. Too often we see the same teams making the playoffs and
winning championships like the San... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Teams with large payrolls routinely win at a higher rate than teams who cannot afford to spend
the massive amounts of money other teams do. For example, in the last fifteen years the New
York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers, two teams which regularly are among the highest
spending teams in baseball, won on average 94.7 and 86.8 games respectively. By comparison,
the San Diego Padres and the Kansas City Royals, two teams who are not able to compete
financially with teams with deeper pockets, won an average of 77.1 and 71.6 games respectively
in that same time span (Major League Baseball). This disparity in season wins is a direct cause of
Major League Baseball s lack of a salary cap. Over the course of a 162 game season, teams with
higher payrolls, and therefore better talent on their roster, will prevail more often than

Abstract
Human Relations is defined as the skill or ability to work effectively through and with other people
by Lamberton, L. H., Minor, L. (2014) . However, there are external and internal influencing forces
regarding human behavior that impact how we interact with others or behave in the workplace. It is
vital for all employees in a company (regardless if they work in the Human Relations Department
or) to be aware of influencing factors so they can not only be successful with their performance, but
be successful as a team and help bolster the company s successes. Some of the most important
influencing factors are organizational climate/culture, work/life balance, Supervisor/Management,
conflict/resolution, job performance/responsibility, and personal characteristics.

Concealed Handguns In The United States
In the United States, sixty percent of all citizens have ownership of a gun. Owning a weapon is a
big time responsibility and everybody around those gun owners are affected. All of these guns
affect people s lives, both positively and negatively. People make their own choices and it is up to
them with how they handle their weapons.
For every 100 Americans of 18 years or older, there are 117 firearms (Phillips). Many Americans all
over the country own a gun. With all of the guns in the United States, there comes a lot of
controversy. According to Phillips, nations with firearmownership rating closest to the United
States have less than half the firearms. This shows that a lot of citizens either want guns or they
need them, or both. Hopefully if they need guns, they are for protection or recreation. All 50 states
allow citizens to get licenses to carry concealed handguns. Since 2013, all of the states have felt

Over the past year, 1.7 million additional new permits have been issued. That is a 15.4% increase

handgun. Between 2007 and 2014, the percentage of the adult population with permits soared by
178%. Overall violent crime also fell by 25 percent over that period of time (Lott). While many
more of the American people have purchased guns over the years, the crime rate has also seen a
change. Many might think that more guns might lead to more problems, but the crime rate has
actually decreased. There could be many valid reasons for why the crime rate went down. Maybe
the guns lead to more protection, or there is just simply no effect on crime rate from an increase in

Summary Of Abortion By Anne Sexton
In Anne Sexton s poem The Abortion , she uses literary devices to reflect her heart wrenching
decision of whether or not to abort one of her children, which reflects the style of confessional
poetry because she is sharing her personal feelings and experiences. Anne Sexton was a famous
poet of confessional poetry, where the poets write about their private experiences with feelings
about death, trauma, and depression in their lives. Anne Sexton wrote from the point of view of an
upper middle class woman. She had two children, and the stress of having them, gave her life long
depression. Sexton was sent to a psychiatric hospital after the birth of her second child. The
Abortiondisplays all of Sexton s feelings that she has about her abortion.
Sexton sets off the poem [driving] south (Sexton 5). She is describing her trip to go and get her
child aborted, and she sees the road sunken like a gray washboard (9). The road is extremely rough
and bumpy, which is often an unpleasant surface to drive on. The negative connotation of her car
ride there is making her trip start off horribly and she has not even gotten to the worst part of it
yet. The gray description of the road makes it seem lifeless, which reflects how Sexton is feeling
on her trip. She also sees grass as bristly and stout as chives (14). Chives are a tall green plant that
look like grass, which she describes as bristly . Indicating that the grass is rough and scratchy. This
gives it a negative connotation

Inequality In I Am Malala
In the book, I Am Malala, Malala discusses how women face inequality in Pakistan and
Afghanistan. Malala was named after Malalai of Maiwand, who was a folk hero who lead her
people to victory. Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, was also a prominent role model for women, but
unfortunately was assassinated by a suicide attack. Both woman had a great impact on the rights of
women in the Pakistan/Afghanistan region. However, I believe that Malala promoted the equality of
women better than Benazir. Women worldwide suffer verbal, emotional, physical, and sexual
abuse, along with their sequelae, such as traumatic injuries, sexually transmitted diseases, chronic
pain, eating and sleeping disorders, other psychiatric conditions, and alcohol and drug abuse. To
combat the issue of Woman s Rights there have been organizations who work to stand against the

to stand against inequality, to become the first female Prime Minister, Benazir Bhutto. At the age of

There are several virulence factors associated with the initial infection, including: filamentous
hemagglutinin (FHA) and the pertussis toxin. Bordetella pertussis colonizes in the host via
filamentous hemagglutinin (FHA) and the pertussis toxin. FHA is a large protein that forms
filamentous structures on the cell surface and also binds to galactose residues on the surface of
the trachea s ciliated epithelial cells. The pertussis toxin is a protein that has five subunits: S1, S2,
S3, S4, and S5, is also involved in adherence to the tracheal epithelium. Many of these components
are also known as adhesions, which bind the bacteria to the host cell. While others utilize different
receptors and bind to a glycolipid found specifically on the tracheal epithelium. Bordetella pertussis
also produces its own toxins, such as invasive adenylate cyclase, which is a single polypeptide that
enters epithelial cells, locally reduces phagocytic activity, and lyses red blood cells, and initiates
infection. Lethal toxin, formerly called dermonecrotic toxin, is a protein that causes inflammation
where Bordetella pertussis colonizes. Tracheal toxin, a peptidoglycan fragment, destroys ciliated
cells, stimulates the release of interleukin 1, and causes fever. Once infected, the individual receives
antibiotics, usually erythromycin. In order to have more control of this disease, there needs

Why Do Glaciers
Mendenhall Glacier Report Paragraphs Suraj Bansal
Glaciers are a dynamic perennial accumulations of ice that, together with ice sheets, represent a
significant portion of Earth s water and a volatile element in the changing climate. Although sea
level rise is a significant consequence of glacial change, the instability poses numerous hazards,
though the impacts are not as widespread. Glaciers are continuously changing in response to
changes in temperature, intermittent precipitation levels and other geological processes. Glacier ice

passes a point where snowfall no longer accumulates, and it begins to waste. Over time the
glacier begins to end; either at some point on land where the mass of ice cannot move forward
any further, or into the water as a tidewater glacier. These glaciers generally lose a lot of their
mass by calving; chunks breaking off in the water. Although a small portion of the total surface
ice, glaciers hold a significant amount of water, and are particularly fragile with short term
climate changes when compared to ice sheets. Ice sheets are large, continuous heat sinks that
should take a while to feel any impact from rising annual temperatures however, ice sheets have
their own potential instabilities. Glaciers make up a fraction of the total ice mass and it is
divided up into a multitude of glaciers, so is going to react to changing temperatures on a shorter
time frame than the ice sheets. What s more, up to about 0.4 meters sea level equivalent of water
might be entering the oceans sooner than later, although the inventory of worldwide glaciers is
limited so the exact amount of ice is not known. A change in the seasonal flux of water into the
local environments is going to be felt by a good number of

Physical Appearance Of Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
Kayla Caputo
Ms. Schindler
English IV
23 March 2015
Physical Appearance
In Frankenstein, Mary Shelley shows that appearance does not represent internal character by the
use of contrasting characters. Shelley uses the characters of the monster and Victor to show that
looks don t determine your personality. Physical appearance is related to internal character due to
the fact that people judge on looks before anything else. Social media, making people more
concerned with their looks, has influenced the importance of appearance. Different studies show
that people pick their friends and spouses based on appearance. Physical appearance is not an
indicator of character, but still the acceptance of someone who looks different lies in the eyes of
judgmental people.
In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein, physical appearance plays an immense role in the way characters
are treated. Many would believe that a beautiful exterior represents a beautiful soul, but that is
not the case. Victor creates a hideous monster that later becomes mistreated and judged solely on
his appearance. The monster is never given a chance by anyone besides Mr. De Lacey to show
his inner self. I am blind, and cannot judge of your countenance, but there is something in your
words which persuades me that you are sincere (Shelley 120). Since De Lacey is blind, he does not
have the power to judge the harmless monster on his appearance. He accepts the monster into his
home, not running in terror from his harsh exterior.

Physical and Chemical Changes As you work in the salon, you will create both physical and
chemical changes in hair, skin, and nails as you service your clients. For this reason, it is
imperative that you understand the differences between a physical change and a chemical change.
A physical change occurs when a substance undergoes a change in form or physical properties
without a chemical reaction or the creation of a new substance. For example, when water is
heated, it creates steam. The steam is still water, but it is in a gaseous state. In the salon, when we
apply temporary color to the hair, we are creating a physical change

The Anti Vaccine Movement Paper
Pierce Kurek
Anti Vaccine Movement Paper
4 September 2016 The first argument that I found compelling in the manner that someone with
little formal training in science might be susceptible to was the claim that there are unnatural and
dangerous chemicals and poisons in vaccines. Through looking at a short list provided by the
Healthy Home Economist, you can see things that would make any parent nervous: formaldehyde,
aluminum, mercury, antifreeze, and many more. These are dangerous chemicals, and the anti
vaccine movement argues that they should not be injected into the bloodstreams of children,
which sounds absolutely reasonable. However, the key here is dosage. A large dose of anything
can be dangerous; you can drown in water, or have your kidneys fail incurring hyponatremia if you
drink too much water without replenishing sodium lost through sweat during intense exercise. The
same principle occurs here. Formaldehyde is ever present in day to day life. It is found in car
exhaust, household products such as carpets, upholstery, and paint, and even in cough drops and
mouthwash. In low doses, it is not harmful. Aluminum is also consumed on a daily basis, with the
average adult consuming 30 to 50 mg per day through food, drinking water, and medicines.
Vaccines that contain aluminum typically contain .125 to .625mg, which is only 1% of what is
consumed daily regardless of vaccination. Mercury is perhaps the easiest to dismiss, as it naturally
exists in breast milk and

The Influence Of The British African Colonies On The...
With more of an idea of what the inland was like, the powers decided to meet up and split Africa
among themselves. It was at this meeting of nations that Britain (the main English speaking
empire of the time) collected around 20 colonies in Africa. Each of these colonies were operated
under the English language. Additionally, English speaking immigrants flooded these newly
organized colonies. This influx of the English language not only spread the English language, but
it also influenced it. Again the powers that conquered were influenced by the places that they
conquered. The influences that were given by the British African colonies were much more direct
now. Now English had been formed, and they were spoken together with the indigenous
languages. As with Aramaic and Latin, the invading force picked up several words and language
additions. Africa offered a plethora of indigenous languages to influence the English language.
Inland Africa also exposed the English speaking colonists to various things that they had never
witnessed before. For example Zebra was a word with African origins, because to this point the
Europeans had not seen this creature. They took what the locals called it and added it to the
English language. This happened with a lot of words that are now commonly used in the English
language. Banjo, banana, chimpanzee, impala, jazz, jenga, jumbo, safari, tango, tilapia, yam, and
zombie are all examples of African words that were added to the English language.

Persuasive Essay About The Nightmare Before Christmas
Do you really think that The Nightmare Before Christmas is a Halloween movie when the whole
conflict is about Christmas? Some people think this movie is either a Halloween or Christmas
movie. I think that it s a Christmas movie because all of the evidence leads in the direction of
Christmas. The first reason why I think that this is a Christmas movie is because the movie is all
about how Jack Skellington, the pumpkin king has a huge obsession with Christmas. Jack wants
everyone to understand the joy that Christmas brings like opening presents and decorating trees.
Jack is obsessed with Christmas because he is tired of being the pumpkin king of Halloween
Town and he is tired of being his same old self, so he wants to take over the holiday Christmas.

Nightmare Before Christmas is more of a Christmas movie. The third reason why I think that
this is a Christmas movie is because Jack Skellington is friendly. All that Jack wants to do is
bring Christmas joy to Halloween Town. Jack also released Santa from Oggie Boogie so he can

Arthur Andersen Case Study
Arthur Andersen Co. was founded in Chicago by Arthur Andersen, a young Northwestern
University professor and his partner, Clarence DeLany in 1913 but, DeLany left the partnership in
1918 so the firm s name was changed to Arthur Andersen and Company. (Encyclopedia of Chicago,

federal income taxes and other accounting problems and its first client was the Joseph Schlitz

s leadership was passed to Leonard Spacek.
Nevertheless, Mr. Spacek shaped the firm into a genuine international company and during his 26

Heydrich s Accomplishments
Heydrich slowly rose to power with his strong determination and ruthlessness. He first joined the
Nazi party with an organization of elites who were only selected for their racial attributes. He
started out as an intelligence collector for an organization known as the SS (Security Service).
He worked day in and day out to recover lost intelligence and gain more about the enemy. With
his hard work, he eventually organized a big network of spies who wrote down anything on
anyone who might pose a threat to Hitler. Heydrich s persistence pushed him high up the ranks of
the SS until he was finally appointed SS Brigadier General, one of the very few generals younger

Heydrich even planned the personal attack of two of the Nazi s prized generals because of their
opposition towards Hitler s long range war plans. In 1937 98, Himmler and Heydrich worked

Austria but at a cost of most of their life possessions. More than a hundred thousand Jews left
Austria but at a severe cost to themselves or their family (Curry).
Two years later, Heydrich was given control of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, the

Disappearance Of Bees Essay
Background Information
Bees are disappearing because people are using harmful fertilizers. 25% of the managed bee
population has dropped since 1990. The use of these harmful pesticides can cause a hive of bees
to collapse. This is known as colony collapse disorder (CCD). The impact of bees disappearing
on the environment is not having enough food. Bees and other pollinators have a role in
pollinating one out of every three bites of food you eat. Without bees to spread seeds, many plants,
including food crops, would die off.
Neonicotinoids are most commonly used insecticide in the U.S. They are also an insecticide that
kills bees. The insecticides are applied to seeds before they are planted. They stay with the the plant
as they grow. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the late 1990s, beekeepers around the world have observed the mysterious and sudden
disappearance of bees, and report unusually high rates of decline in honeybee colonies. Bees do
more than just make honey! Bee transfer pollen and seeds from one flower to another, fertilizing
the plant so it can grow and produce food. Cross pollination helps at least 30 percent of the world
s crops and 90% affects our food. The sweet fruits humans eat such as, strawberries, mangoes,
grapes, apples, and bananas would not be the same taste wise as they are now. We simply couldn t
live in the same world if it weren t for the bees.
Conclusion Before we started researching this project we didn t know how important bees are to
our environment. In general, we can help solve this problem in our environment by limiting the
use of pesticides. Creating regulations and laws limiting and controlling the use of neonicotinoid
and coumaphos pesticides would greatly help the bees population. We can also reward farmers for
practices that help wild bee populations thrive, such as leaving habitat for bees in their surrounding
fields, alternating crops so bees have food all year long, and not using harmful

Aquinas Cosmological Causes
Cosmological comes from the word cosmos which means universe is an orderly system, this
definition fits clearly through out the argument. The Cosmological coincides but also differs from
the Ontalogical argument due to the fact it is inductive, a Pasterori meaning that Aquinas uses
empirical evidence of the universeitself and questioned why it existed. Aquinas wrote the argument
in his book Summa Theologia making a clear link to Aristotles four causes; material, efficient,
formal and final. The causes needed an explanation, Aristotle concluded that this was the Prime
Mover, however Aquinas was a monk in the 15th century and took this point a step further by
suggesting that the Prime Mover was in fact the Judaeo Christian God. In a similar way to the fact
Aristotle noticed there was a change from potential to actuality in the universe, Aquinas noted that
objects move and change, they are subject to cause and effect and the... Show more content on

There can be no infinite chain of past movers or motions, thus there must have been a first mover

Aquinas second way was that everything has an efficient cause as nothing can be efficient in itself
as it would have to exist prior to itself which is clearly impossible. Aquinas repeats the later part of
his first point by saying once again that infinite regress is not the efficient causes, and thus the cause
is the uncaused causer. For Aquinas this was

The Power Of Money In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
Though not always being the utmost pursuit of people, money as an indispensable being in
supporting life have or has the creating and determining power of reality and the distorting effect
of altering beliefs and individuality. Money have the creative power of turning imagination into
reality. Marx argues about this creative power in his article The Power of Money that money could
convert ... wishes from something in the realm of imagination, translate them from their meditated,
imagined or desired existence into their sensuous, actual existence (Marx, 3 4). The actual
presence of the desired being proves a process of creation, and such creation is brought by money
out of its creative power. Marx suggests that if a person is not strong enough... Show more content

Its contorting effect applies to everyone with the strength of variation related to people s .. of it.
For Hovstad and Aslaksen, their ideas and pursuits are completely misshaped by money because
money is indeed their utmost pursuit. They give up standing by the doctor out of the fear of
losing money, and try to support the doctor again in the hope of winning money, justifying their
ever changeful deeds as natural law that every animal must fight for its own livelihood and
displaying their real life aim of acquiring money (Ibsen, 79). For Dr. Stockmann who refuses Kiil
s offer of shares in baths and insists on bringing the truth to the public, it is not that money s
distorting power become ineffective over him; rather, money also diverted his ideas. When Kiil
came to the doctor with offer of choices, Dr. Stockmann was indeed moved by money as he
expresses that the offer puts him in a horribly painful dilemma that his firm determination of bring
the truth of the baths to the public, which remains unchanged even when he was viewed as the
enemy of his town and his friends and brother are against him, is shaken and he struggles between
being distorted by money and sticking with his original mind (Ibsen, 76). The doctor managed to
resist the distorting power because his supreme pursuit is scientific truth or the glory of societal
recognition,

Clemens High School
Samuel Clemens High School was established during the 1890 s, but it wasn t always as nice, big,
and crowded as it is now.
Samuel Clemens or Schertz School back in the 1890 s consisted of four classrooms downstairs,
one upstairs, and a large auditorium. The heating was an old woodstove and the AC was an open
window! The restroom? It was outdoors. As for the students, the school was so small that two
grades could fit in one classroom. The first graduating class consisted of just two members!
In 1967, construction for the main building and the field house of Samuel Clemens High School
was finally completed.
However, like most schools throughout the district, that was just a beginning. Samuel Clemens
High School continues to grow with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As always, we have the crowded hallways, lines, and classrooms. More students mean more cars in
the parking lot, which leaves most students late in the morning, and often upset when looking for
parking. No one wants to spend all of their time searching for a parking spot! Our district takes the
impact as well when enrolling new students or returning students to the school. Of course, each
student has different and specific information to enroll in the school, which makes keeping up with
As population grows the opportunities for quality, available housing becomes an issue. More
people and less space is a combination leading only to crowded and uncomfortable students. As
space is taken up, it becomes more valuable. Strains cause distraction and disruption, a poor
environment for learning. Finally, our local business and community takes the final blow when it
comes to overgrowth. As you may know, our campus offers off campus which is where a student
can walk or drive off campus during his or her lunch time. Most nearby businesses serve these

Common Core Standards Literature Review
Literature Review What is the common core? The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) defines
the knowledge and skills in English language arts and mathematics that students need for success
in college and careers upon high school graduation (Santos, Darling Hammond, Cheuk (2012)).
The common core was created, to provide clear academic benchmarks with more concise academic
standards for essential learning that will prepare students to be college and career ready (Liebtag,
E. (2013)). The common core standards have then, been introduced and applied to most schools in
the U.S, and although it may have its controversies, the major issue, is its effect on ELL (English
Language Learners) students. ELs currently constitute 10 percent of the U.S.... Show more content

According to Duguay, A., Massoud, L., Tabaku, L., Himmel, J., Sugarman, J. (2013, September),
As educators have examined the standards more deeply, concerns have arisen about their
implementation in classrooms with diverse groups of students, including English learners . Not
only this, but the concept of math also has its visible adversities. According to Robertson, K.
(2009), Although it is easy to assume that many English language learners (ELLs) will excel in
math because math is a universal language and students may have had prior educational experience
that included mathematical instruction, that assumption can lead educators astray . Many teachers
are struggling with the, increasingly rigorous grade level content instruction; by content area
teachers, many of whom are newly incorporating language development techniques in their subject
area classes (Duguay, A., Massoud, L., Tabaku, L., Himmel, J., Sugarman, J. (2013, September)).
The common core may be the stepping for detailed curriculum, but it is seeming that, it cannot be
tailored to all of the diverse populations of our nation (Liebtag, E. (2013)). The expectations of the
common core exacerbate the academics for ELL students. According to, HAKUTA, K., SANTOS,
M., FANG, Z. (2013), when ELs are isolated for direct language instruction,

  • 2. Media Is The Cause Of Violence In America s Youth Since the beginning of time, there has been violence. However, recently society has been putting the blame on media such as movies, television, literature, video games and music. This blame placing became very relevant in 1985 when Parents Music Resource Center was founded as a way to ban, restrict or censor media that was found to not only be inappropriate, but was also apparently the cause of violencein America s youth. While some still agree that media is the sole reason behind the increase in drug usage, suicide and murder, that is not the case. Southern Controversy Hannah Daigle Dale Bailey English 131/03 23 September 2017 An Age Old Southern Controversy The Civil War began in the 1860 s and was one of the most important events in southern and U.S. history. In the south one of the major symbols of the war was the confederate flag. For me personally since I am from South Carolina I have found that there are two separate views on the flag which would be the supporting and opposing sides. The supporting side is said to be majority of white southerners and the opposing side is said to be majority of black southerners and white northerners (Webster and Leib). According to Webster and Leib white and black southerners have pride in their southern heritage, but the heritage is much different. What I would like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Forman believes that the confederate flag violates the First Amendment by chilling the desire and ability of black citizens to exercise fully their First Amendment rights, which is their freedom of speech. The Black citizens felt like they did not have a say on the flag being up on state grounds (Forman). The opposing side of the flag did not like it up so much that in the early 2000 s there was a boycott against the state of South Carolina due to the fact the flag was still up. This boycott cost the state $7 million dollars in revenue lost (Allen). The rebels were fighting for territory, for economic control, and obviously for slavery. The Confederate flag has been used throughout this century as a symbol by the Klan, skinheads, and other white supremacists opposed to black demands for equality and constitutional protection (Forman). What is terrorism, everyone has a different version in their dictionary. Some blame a whole nation for terrorism, some blame a whole religious group for the actions of only a few. As we know the word terror means extreme fear. A terrorist is someone who creates an atmosphere filled with fear amongst the people that are there. Environmentalists who are informed by various ideologies often lack a strong opinion about the treatment of animals in relation to diet and the environment. Arne Naess, who is credited with coining the term deep ecology is vague stating that the killing of animals for human consumption is justified when it is a vital human need without much further clarification (Waller 1997). In the other four sports I mentioned, having to work within the boundaries of a salary cap is a balancing act, to gain an advantage at one position requires you to be at a disadvantage at another position. For example, to have a top tier quarterback in the NFL like Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers and the large salary they command, a team might lack the funds to sign a top tier linebacker or cornerback. The pertussis toxin is a protein that has five subunits: S1, S2, S3, S4, and S5, is also involved in adherence to the tracheal epithelium. Physical Appearance Of Mary Shelley s Frankenstein Kayla Caputo Ms. Schindler English IV 23 March 2015 Physical Appearance In Frankenstein, Mary Shelley shows that appearance does not represent internal character by the use of contrasting characters. Shelley uses the characters of the monster and Victor to show that looks don t determine your personality. Physical appearance is related to internal character due to the fact that people judge on looks before anything else. Social media, making people more concerned with their looks, has influenced the importance of appearance. Different studies show that people pick their friends and spouses based on appearance. Physical appearance is not an indicator of character, but still the acceptance of someone who looks different lies in the eyes of judgmental people. In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein, physical appearance plays an immense role in the way characters are treated. Many would believe that a beautiful exterior represents a beautiful soul, but that is not the case. Victor creates a hideous monster that later becomes mistreated and judged solely on his appearance. The Anti Vaccine Movement Paper Pierce Kurek Anti Vaccine Movement Paper 4 September 2016 The first argument that I found compelling in the manner that someone with little formal training in science might be susceptible to was the claim that there are unnatural and dangerous chemicals and poisons in vaccines. Through looking at a short list provided by the Healthy Home Economist, you can see things that would make any parent nervous: formaldehyde, aluminum, mercury, antifreeze, and many more. These are dangerous chemicals, and the anti vaccine movement argues that they should not be injected into the bloodstreams of children, which sounds absolutely reasonable. However, the key here is dosage. A large dose of anything can be dangerous; you can drown in water, or have your kidneys fail incurring hyponatremia if you drink too much water without replenishing sodium lost through sweat during intense exercise. The same principle occurs here. Formaldehyde is ever present in day to day life. It is found in car exhaust, household products such as carpets, upholstery, and paint, and even in cough drops and mouthwash. In low doses, it is not harmful. Aluminum is also consumed on a daily basis, with the average adult consuming 30 to 50 mg per day through food, drinking water, and medicines. It was at this meeting of nations that Britain (the main English speaking empire of the time) collected around 20 colonies in Africa. Each of these colonies were operated under the English language. Additionally, English speaking immigrants flooded these newly organized colonies. This influx of the English language not only spread the English language, but it also influenced it. Again the powers that conquered were influenced by the places that they conquered. The influences that were given by the British African colonies were much more direct now. Now English had been formed, and they were spoken together with the indigenous languages. As with Aramaic and Latin, the invading force picked up several words and language additions. Africa offered a plethora of indigenous languages to influence the English language. Inland Africa also exposed the English speaking colonists to various things that they had never witnessed before. For example Zebra was a word with African origins, because to this point the Europeans had not seen this creature. They took what the locals called it and added it to the English language. This happened with a lot of words that are now commonly used in the English language. Banjo, banana, chimpanzee, impala, jazz, jenga, jumbo, safari, tango, tilapia, yam, and zombie are all examples of African words that were added to the English language. ... • 33. Disappearance Of Bees Essay Background Information Bees are disappearing because people are using harmful fertilizers. 25% of the managed bee population has dropped since 1990. The use of these harmful pesticides can cause a hive of bees to collapse. This is known as colony collapse disorder (CCD). The impact of bees disappearing on the environment is not having enough food. Bees and other pollinators have a role in pollinating one out of every three bites of food you eat. Without bees to spread seeds, many plants, including food crops, would die off. Neonicotinoids are most commonly used insecticide in the U.S. They are also an insecticide that kills bees. The insecticides are applied to seeds before they are planted. They stay with the the plant as they grow. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since the late 1990s, beekeepers around the world have observed the mysterious and sudden disappearance of bees, and report unusually high rates of decline in honeybee colonies. Bees do more than just make honey! Bee transfer pollen and seeds from one flower to another, fertilizing the plant so it can grow and produce food. Cross pollination helps at least 30 percent of the world s crops and 90% affects our food. The sweet fruits humans eat such as, strawberries, mangoes, grapes, apples, and bananas would not be the same taste wise as they are now. We simply couldn t live in the same world if it weren t for the bees. Conclusion Before we started researching this project we didn t know how important bees are to our environment. In general, we can help solve this problem in our environment by limiting the use of pesticides. Creating regulations and laws limiting and controlling the use of neonicotinoid and coumaphos pesticides would greatly help the bees population. The Cosmological coincides but also differs from the Ontalogical argument due to the fact it is inductive, a Pasterori meaning that Aquinas uses empirical evidence of the universeitself and questioned why it existed. Aquinas wrote the argument in his book Summa Theologia making a clear link to Aristotles four causes; material, efficient, formal and final. The causes needed an explanation, Aristotle concluded that this was the Prime Mover, however Aquinas was a monk in the 15th century and took this point a step further by suggesting that the Prime Mover was in fact the Judaeo Christian God.
