Government Intervention For R D And Entrepreneurship
Government Intervention To Promote R D And Innovation In Small Medium Businesses
Summary SBIR Policy
The societies in the world are facing severe social and economic challenges. The 2008 09 downturn in
the economy has led to lessened potential growth output, rise in unemployment and soaring public
debt. To recover from this, it was necessary that the nations come up with sustainable growth sources.
The search for new sources comes to an end when the countries have adopted a productivity growth
infused with innovation. Innovation is the introduction of a significantly and newly improved product,
method or process. It holds the access to boost productivity. All change contains a degree of novelty.
(Glaister, 1996) The Oslo Manual gives account for three types of innovation. An innovation can be
novel to the firm, novel to the market or novel to the world itself. The first type includes the
circulation of the present innovation in the business. It is when the innovation has already for use in
other companies. The change becomes new to the market when the firm is the first to introduce it to
the market. An enormous range of factors like economy, government service, education or health,
therefore, affects innovation. It can occur in any sector of the economy. (www.aaas.org) The current
framework applies to change in business and sometimes in the public sector. The paper discusses
innovation in the public sector in small scale industries. The macroeconomic policies affect the

Language Bias
1. When writing a research report, there are five main issues of language bias . They include but, are
not limited to, gender, age, sexuality, ethnicity, and disabilities. Gender is language bias, as it is a
cultural term referring to social roles, which may be perceived as offensive. For example, referring to
a female firefighter as a fireman implies that the female is actually a male firefighter. To avoid this,
writers should ensure that they are using terms to avoid sexist bias. Next, age is language bias as a
writer might think that someone is elderly because they are 50 but in reality, it is not accurate to call
someone elderly until they are 65 or older. Those that are 50 could find this offensive. Thus to avoid
this, a writer should always include an age range or refer to the APA manual when placing people into
age categories. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When talking about sexuality, writers should use words like sexual orientation, as it is not implying
the person chose a certain sexuality. For example, an author should not write about how being a gay
man is a sexual preference, as it seems like it was his choice. More so, ethnicity is also language bias.
It is best to refer to the geographic locations one is from, as ethnic labels can be offensive or harmful.
Writers can avoid using slang language by aiming to identify persons by nation of origin. Lastly,
language objectifying a person s condition or disability is language bias. Language including negative
labels, or slurs should not be used, as they are harmful and offensive. If one needs to write about a
condition, it is advised they place focus on the individual and not the disability. For example, if they
are writing about dyslexia, they could state, persons with dyslexia find it frustrating to do group work

Personal Narrative-Thank God Sunny Bono
I remember watching your face as we drove, the radio discussing the recent coming out of Chaz Bono.
You said, slapping your hands on the steering wheel and raising your voice in a tone of righteous
indignance, Thank God Sunny Bono is dead so he doesn t have to see what his daughter is doing to
herself! Turning to watch the passing scenery of a Chicago neighbourhood, I sighed softly. It wasn t
the reaction I d hoped for. I knew I wasn t a boy by the time I was five. Soon after, you knew too
though, this is something I wouldn t realize until some time later. It really wasn t so bad at first. It felt
almost like a game; some secret that only I was privy to. Sure, everyone thought I was a boy now, but
in the end I d grow up to be like all the

January 31, 2015, the company operated 1,162 department stores in 49 states and e commerce website
(www. Kohl s.com). The company sells private label, and national brand apparel, foot wear,

Competition heated up as department stores, particularly J.C. Penny Corporation, Inc. and specialty
apparel stores improved their performances. According to the article of Funding Universe, Kohl s was
faced with fierce competition in California from stores such as, Mervyns and Macy West. Some
analysts contended the big push into the Golden State had distracted management, and indeed the
company suffered from excess inventory, forcing it to discount heavily, which dented profits. Some
shoppers turned to rival retailers when they encountered less well kept stores and longer checkout
lines than usual. Which the numbers were disappointing, while revenues were still up 12.7 percent,
surpassing the ten billion mark for the first time, but net income fell for the first time in ten years
dropping a whopping 8.5% to $581 million, and in store sales fell 1.6 percent. In view of the financial
statements attached to this paper, Kohl s acquired debt increased both in dollars and as a percentage of
sales. Gross margin as a percentage of sales was 36.4% in 2014, much lower in 2013. The
merchandise margin increased, but was offset by higher shipping losses attributable to growth in the
number of on line orders. Selling, general and administration expenses both increased in dollars and as
a percentage of sales. There are numerous factors that impact the success of department stores such as,

America s Failure to Join the League of Nations Essay
America entered World War One in 1917. America and the President, Woodrow Wilson, were horrified
by the destruction that had taken place in such a humane part of the world. The only way to avoid a
repeat of such a disaster was to create an international committee whose purpose was to prevent wars
by maintaining world peace. This would be the task of the League of Nations. Woodrow Wilson was
the creator of the League of Nations in his Fourteen Points Speech. This was ironic because the United
States failed to join the League of Nations. This can be seen in the US delegations in Paris, the
Congressional election of 1918, Article X, Wilson s conflict with republican senators and his problem
with compromising, the Americans that didn t agree ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wilson made a compromise whereby Japan kept Germany s economic holdings in Shandong and he
said he would return the peninsula to China at a later date. The Chinese were outraged. Wilson
realized that all of these compromises caused for injustices in the League of Nations, but he was
hoping that this League would even out with good for America, which would have strong say in the
League. When he returned home to get final say from America he was again hit hard by the senators.
Wilson felt that strong support from Congress, especially in the senate, would be important with
bargaining with European powers in the upcoming negotiations. The voters elected republican power
in Congress in the Congressional elections of 1918. Wilson had enjoyed majority in both houses for
his first two years in congress so in October of 1918 Wilson issued an appeal to the voters claiming he
wanted to keep a Democratic majority in the both the senate and the House of Representatives. The
Republicans became very angry saying that they had actually been more supportive of Wilson s war
plans than his own party had. The voters responded with a fifty seat majority in the House and a two
seat majority in the

Debate On Rewarding
Abate s Participation Trophies Send a Powerful Message
Rewarding is the best source of motivation, not only for adults but also for the younger stars engaging
in a competition; many people grow with this statement in mind and use the notion as a piece of
advice that should allow conditioning of hard work in any contest (Wrobel 401 421). One of the
people who believe that only winners should be rewarded for their efforts, author Parker Abate, wrote
In Youth Sports, Participation Trophies Send a Powerful Message, published in October 2016 in New
York Times. He argues that while not all participants win a competition, working with the members of
the team with an objective of receiving victory teaches them a lesson that in life it is important ...

This is why the trophies that are given to less talented athletes who participate in youth sports do not
have to say 1st Place, M.V.P., or Champion. These young athletes should be honored in lesser ways,
and all deserve to feel some form of accomplishment (Abate). These facts introduce and support the
idea that the participants of the youth competitions should be awarded as a way of reducing
humiliation and underrating of the younger people who especially do not know whether they are

Examples Of Identity In Huckleberry Finn
The Hoax of Personalities In Mark Twain s the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, the true identity of an
individual is questioned countless times between three central characters. Along with identity, one s
self pride can also be at task. The inheritance of money, faking death, and the will to be free are at
hand to become a true successor in the journey northward. With help from the so called King and
Duke, their mission to Cairo is put more at risk rather than if Huck and Jim remained alone. Before the
trip even started, Huck had to escape the imprisonment of his cruel and abusive father, Pap. Huck s
idea of a good father was far from what Pap was, a drunk. Pap had kidnapped him because he claimed
Huck was more advanced personally; he could read, write, and he had money Miss Watson gave him.
Huck s only chance of a life outside abuse was an escape. I took the axe and smashed in the door I
beat it and hacked it considerable, a doing it. I fetched the pig in and took him back nearly to the table
and hacked into his throat with the ax, and laid him on the ground to bleed (Twain 25). In cases as
such, faking death, or fraudulency in general can be used for good. If escaping a bad life can get you
into a better one, many would say go for it, however; now that Huck is dead he must cover up his
identity to save his true self. In 2013, a film known as Identity Thief , is about a woman in Florida that

Summary Of The Miraculous Journey Of Edward Tulane
I have read this book a couple times now, and the many complex things I have learned are unbearable.
Every chapter is important to what the end of the story is going to be. I think this story of a china
rabbit finding his way back home had more plot twists than I thought this story would have. The first
lesson that I will tell you will be to never give up hope on love, but to always know that somebody
will find room in their hearts for you. When you figure out what love is, your heart will grow even
bigger.
Love can bring together the love of others around them. But love can also bring effect on others that
have not seen what love can do to them. Love is not the impact of how expensive your belongings are.
Nothing is more expensive than the price of love. And that s one of the lessons that I have learned
from the book that I have read. In the beginning I read pages 5 thru 7 where edward specifically said:
The china rabbit was in possession of an extraordinary wardrobe composed of handmade silk suits,
custom shoes fashioned from the finest leather and designed specifically for his rabbit feet, and a wide
array of hats equipped with holes so that they could easily fit over edward s large and expressive ears.
Each pair of well cut pants had a small pocket for Edward s gold pocket watch (Page 7) writing from
the book The Miraculous Journey Of Edward Tulane. and when I read that paragraph, I thought to
myself, that not what love is about, love is about the trust of others

Where will my busy life take me and when will it feel worth it? 8 am, I was getting ready for work,
9am 5pm I was at the Vision Care Center, 6pm 11pm I was at the Express at Town East mall and by
the time I got home, I was already fed up with life but had three courses to finish by the end of the
month. Obstacles were everywhere and my mind was the worst one. I will try making an effort to
view and think more positively. I hope to have a better perspective about everything around me. I will
squeeze in dinner with the family and find a day off to feel a bit of freedom. The resources I could
start to use more is the library, instead of getting home from work and feeling tired, maybe the library
would motivate me to stay awake and finish more exams/assignments. Overall, I m really glad that I
had the chance to experience this particular assignment because it triggered me to see that the world

Lego s Creative Toy Line
Introduction
The company LEGO officially began in 1932 in Denmark by the skilled hands of the carpenter Ole
Kirk Christiansen, with the help of his son Godtfred, when he was only 12 years old. They started
manufacturing small handmade wooden toys such as cars, trucks, ducklings and piggy banks, to
fortify the family during the depression period. Their best seller where the LEGO bricks. In the studio
where the toys were made, the phrase, Only The Best is Good Enough was painted on the wall. This
vision is utilized until the present day to set the company as quality is of extreme importance to the
brand.
The company expanded rapidly. By 1992, Lego had become one of the top ten global toy
manufacturers. LEGO s creative toy line had become a success worldwide. However, with the
appearance of video games and the failed initial attempt to enter this market, along with competition
from other manufacturers, the Danish company was placed in a difficult situation at the beginning of
the century, leading to immense monetary losses. In order to stop losses, LEGO took measures such
as: shifting part of its production to the Czech Republic and a drastic reduction of its workforce.
Lego case for change
The case for LEGO s change in strategy was due to the decline in profit and growth. The company
was not up to date with the consumer and market trends. They did not have prepare for future
scenarios or have a contingency plan, thus they were very unprepared for the changes in the toy

Why Did The Russian Civil War Start
The Russian Civil War began in October of 1918. An uprising in Petrograd lit the match and things
were on a roll. The Bolsheviks gained power and were bound to be challenged for it. A major country
that opposed the Bolsheviks were the Social Revolutionaries. When the Revolutionaries were held
back by Bolshevik guards, they fired back at them by attacking their Bolshevik government. The
countries that opposed the Bolsheviks were the Revolutionaries as mentioned before, the Mensheviks
( who once controlled the Provisional Government), and the Tsarists (who wanted to put Nicholas the
second at the throne after rescuing him). The second reason that the civil war started was because of
the Czech region. Czech Prisoners were being taken across Russia who in 1918 mutinied, took control
of the Trans Siberian Railway, and attacked towards Moscow. Large and powerful armies all over this
region ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They grew rapidly in size and by the end of the civil war against the Whites, they had managed to
accumulate a military five million soldiers strong. 75% of their total soldiers were peasants by birth.
This created a major problem for the Bolsheviks in the social race. The peasant population was so vast
that it was thought whoever could gain their vote and popularity would have the most power. In
October of 1917 their support had been confined to the working class districts associated with big
industry cities. Without any support in the countryside, where most people lived, No one thought that
the Bolsheviks would hold power for more than just a few weeks. Many people thought, and for good
reason, that the peasants would rise up against them, because of all the power they obtained together.
However, the Red Army won the civil war after many blood covered battles they fought to gain the
upperhand. One main reason was because of their superior success in things they did with politics and
army decisions, compared to the

The Importance Of Stakeholders In The Classroom Environment
Bron and Veugelers (2014) elucidate a classroom environment encompasses a vast and diverse student
body that should be reflected in the utilized curriculum which will continually adapt to the ever
changing elements and culture surrounding it. Important to realize, is that there is a very considerable
group of stakeholders responsible for the advocacy of the curriculum map, those who are composed of
neighborhood residents, youth involved in the justice system, unemployed, regulation enforcement
agencies, contractors and developers, employers, ordinary community members, and government
officials (Rabinowitz, 2017). Accordingly, whether stakeholders are directly or indirectly involved
with the students, their input ensures successful outcomes in achievement for those focuses within the
learning arena. Stakeholders Purpose To explain, Hanover Research (2016) affirms the stakeholder s
role in curriculum mapping is vital, due to invested interest of processes and results, as well as the
ability to enhance the review s effectiveness and the many persons who have an expertise through
their individual knowledge and skills. This vested interest is to help ensure that appropriateness is
upheld in the reviews regarding questions, designs, or methodology. Markedly, Bron and Veugelers
(2014) state that by involving the students in the curriculum process, their input will assist and aid in
reducing the gap between how student live and learn, and bring more relevance to the learning

Using Secondary Data Sources In Public Health
Module 3 Professional Learning Log # 4 Monica Eickmeyer The use of secondary data sources adds
another resource for public health practitioners in policy and intervention development. Instead of just
using primary resources, secondary resources may be integrated to provide robust data collectively.
Also, multiple data sources may be applied to gain a better understanding of the public health concern.
Data sets available for mortality, morbidity, health outcomes, social and living environments can
determine health needs and barriers to care. In situations where funding resources are a concern or
limited, secondary data sources may be considered and applied in public health. If another agency has
already collected the data, expenses are reduced and time is saved. However, categories and age
groups may not be available for the question you have chosen. ... Show more content on

For example, if the secondary data reveals a rise in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), a

why the data was collected and for whom should be considered. Examining trends over time provides
longitudinal data about COPD and smoking to track the success and failures of public health
interventions and policies. For example, smoking policies have been implemented through time and

Descriptive Essay About Fountain Pen
I ve always enjoyed collecting the finer utensils in life mainly writing and shaving instruments to be
specific (but maybe next year I ll get really into forks and spoons). Between the two of these, though,
my first love was pen collecting.
As a child, I remember hearing my father tell stories about how, when he was younger, he used to send
letters to car companies asking for posters and pins, at one point even receiving a free stamp in the
mail with his name. To this day, he still uses that stamp on official documents.
He inspired then 8 year old Sanjay to write a letter to Nintendo, asking to beta test the latest
DragonQuest game. Since then, I have received over 200 dollars worth of stationery related product in
the mail, all under the same, albeit somewhat cheesy, letterhead: Help! I m a struggling student who
needs a nice pen to improve my grades! Apart from this, I have attended Seattle s Fountain Pen Club,
as the only representative of the under 60 age group, received countless pity rejection letters from
companies too smart for my antics, and a sponsorship from ChopSaver lip balm. Sure, using fountain
pens can be a pain. Having to clean them out with a bulb syringe every two weeks is no easy task, and
the pain that comes with trying to find fountain pen friendly paper is sometimes so unbearable that I
have to resort to using a ballpoint. However, I began to love fountain pens not just for their interesting
look and feel, but rather to supplant my feeling

My Volunteering Experience At Children s Hospital Colorado
Throughout the years I feel that I ve had a number of valuable experiences, my most significant
experience is my volunteering experience at Children s Hospital Colorado. I still remember feeling
utterly terrified on my first day volunteering, pondering all the possible ways things could go wrong. I
suddenly felt as though I have never experienced this before. I was on my own, responsible for myself
and all of my actions.
On my first day volunteering, I found myself doing deliveries on the sterile patient floors. There was a
type of silence that made me nervous. I couldn t hear a word of casual chatter, or people carelessly
laughing. It felt completely different from what I was used to hearing on a day to day bases.
I went on my search to find the room that I was delivering the gift to, while following all the rules that
were established at my orientation. At the time, the task seemed odd, I didn t expect it to be something
I would be doing when I started out. Everything seemed new, and different, it allowed me to view
thing that differed from the protected scope I looked through my entire life. Reality was right in front

Middle Passage Research Paper
Anderson
Professor Gray
History 1301 155
June 22, 15
The Middle Passage During history there has been plenty of slave trade in different countries. They
have traded different ethnicities, and each had a different means of use for these people. What is
intriguing is how they commuted these people and how this process has impacted their descendants. A
major use of trade in history was the middle passage that was part of the transatlantic slave route. The
transatlantic slave trade concerns history of three continents over four centuries and it has served as a
crucial element of New World protohistory since the slave trade soared in the eighteenth century in

The captives would be happy to take their own lives rather than having no rights as a slave. Lambert s
chilling journal excerpt created a feeling of worry coming from the journalist, almost as if the
shipmates were scared of the slaves and vise versa. Although, ironically enough, once the self
proclaimed Land of the Free (in spite of slavery), the United States has now saved the world from
Nazism and Fascism (in spite of overt, institutionalized racism at home) while also enjoying its status
of noncolonial power as a welcome democratic surplus value (in spite of commercial and diplomatic
colonialism in the subcontinent and elsewhere). (Lambert, 332) Lambert himself revealed the
inequitable treatment of the slaves. White Americans did not even treat them as part of their country.
They are treated more like animals or owned objects of industry in the eyes of past Americans.
Ramesh Mallipeddi told an example of a real historical slave ship. He tells the story of The Hannibal,

Analysis Of The Last Man By Thomas Campbell Essay
The Encompassing of Solitude and the Manifesting of a Post Apocalyptic Prediction The Earth s
apparent boundary between tangible existence and conceptual objectives consequently ignites
curiosity throughout humanity, while the beckoning of man kind s search for reason throughout the
unexplained components of life, thus, has become inevitable. In contrasting demeanor, some
individual beings have lavished in the comfort that is granted to them through faith and religion. The
repression of one s inquisitive behavior reaps growth in acceptance of trivial mysteries regarding life.
Likely, human reactions to genuine solitude vary and are ultimately subjective in accordance to each
human s differing perception. Debuting during the Revolutionary era in literature, The Last Man by
Thomas Campbell embraced societal speculation, and provided interesting documentation that
regarded the termination of the human race. The narrator of Campbell s poem, who presumably lacks
the mortal conditions of the human species, garners a pessimistic outlook upon the forced separation
between he and all mortal beings. Opposing Campbell s dreary attitudes on the topic, Wordsworth
delivered a speaker within his poem titled I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud who insistently, and gleefully
observed and portrayed nature from an area of chosen detachment. Within these poems, Wordsworth
and Campbell centralized the concept of the complete isolation of man from all but the nature that
surrounds him. In

What Psychological Information Is Available From The Early...
Recognizing a face is a starting point when interacting socially, as it is the most important stimuli we
see. The face portrays information about a person s identity, their emotional state and where they are
directing their visual attention. To be able to process this information within a very short space of time
is crucial in social interactions and probably dates back to our ancestor s survival. The human brain is
very adept in processing an abundance of information in a simple yet effortless way. These processes
require such specific brain areas to do this. This essay is going to discuss what psychological
information is available from the early stages of face processing. The essay will discuss the
neuroscience and the regions of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When humans cognitively process faces this involves either holistic processing or configural
processing. There is evidence that the processing of faces is done much more holistically than with
objects as this comes from studies of inversion (Yin, 1969). An inverted face impairs the recognition
and is much more difficult to encode than with other objects and this could be due to the spatial
relations.
In facial recognition a face model was created by Bruce and Young in 1986 and is one of the most
influential face models to be created and is still used. It comprises of eight components: structural
encoding, expression analysis, facial speech analysis, directed visual processing, face recognition
nodes, person identity nodes, name generation and cognitive system. According to their face
recognition model various types of information are acquired from faces. When recognising a familiar
face, the components used depend largely on structural encoding, face recognition units, person
identity nodes and name generation. In comparison with an unfamiliar face, the components used
depend largely on structural encoding, expression analysis, facial speech analysis and directed visual
processing. However, as the face model created by Bruce and Young (1986) was quite complex, a
simpler version was created by Duchaine and Nakayama (2006) which provided four stages: face
detection, structural encoding, face memory and emotion/gender etc.

Everyone Knows Coca-Cola Essay
The Coca Cola Company offers its product, Coke or Coca Cola Classic, for sale in the beverage
industry. Included in the beverage industry are sub categories such as the soda or soft drink industry.
Introduced in 1886, the Coca Cola Company sought to offer its coke product to the masses. Coke has
been successful in winning its market share of the soft drink industry as evidenced by a report that
states, the drink is reportedly recognized by 94 percent of the world s population (Hartlaub, n.d.). In
an expansion of the typical market, Coke took its place in history by becoming the first soft drink to

Examples of perfect competition would be a crop produced such as cotton or a staple produced such as
poultry. Next, is Monopolistic Competition. This type of market structure is a combination of both a
monopoly and perfect competition. The industry will be made up of numerous companies who have
substitute products but whose products may have special features or benefits which enable them to
differentiate themselves from their competition (Gilani, n.d.). In addition, the readiness of buyers to
purchase these products allows new businesses to easily enter the industry (Reynolds, 2005). An
example of monopolistic competition would be in the fast food industry, specifically the pizza market
(Gilani, n.d.). Third, is Oligopoly. In defining Oligopoly, two variations are seen: undifferentiated and
differentiated. One definition states that an oligopoly is the,
Market situation between, and much more common than, perfect competition (having many suppliers)
and monopoly (having only one supplier). In oligopolistic markets, independent suppliers (few in
numbers and not necessarily acting in collusion) can effectively control the supply, and thus the price,
thereby creating a seller s market. (http://www.businessdictionary.com/definition/oligopoly.html)

Hard Water Lab Report Essay
Lab Report: Hard Water Purpose: The purpose of this lab is to determine whether a liquid is hard
water or not. Background: Hard water is the water that has a high amount of mineral in it, usually
Ca2+ and Mg+. These cations enter the source of water by leaching from minerals within a wet
underground layer of water bearing rock, or an aquifer. According to the WHO, hard water is not
harmful to human s health but it s a serious problem in the water industry. Household plumbing and
appliances are also greatly affected by hard water conditions. Some of the effects include clogged
pipes, water heater inefficiency and hard scaling. Hard water is also linked to decreased water flow or

# of drops EDTA 1st time | 16 | 28 | # of drops EDTA 2nd time | 16 | 29 | # of drops EDTA 3rd time | | |
Average result | 16 | 28.5 | Data Analysis: 1) Which water sample had more Ca/Mg? Relatively, how
much more? The well water from Wilton has a larger amount of Ca 2+/Mg 2+ compared to the Elk
Grove tap water. Relatively, it s approximately twice harder because 28 drops of EDTA is added to
Wilton well water in order to make it turns blue while it only take 16 drops to changes color of Elk
Grove tap water. 2) EDTA is often added to shampoo. Can you suggest why? EDTA is added to
shampoo to take away the calcium and magnesium that exists. The shampoo will then lather and
creates more bubbles; that s greater to bathe in. 3) Pots and pans used for boiling water often develop
a coating of scale in homes that use hard water. What might this scale be? The scale might be
magnesium and calcium. After the water reaches its boiling point, all the water molecules would turns
into gas evaporates, left the solid magnesium and calcium at the bottom of the pans. 4) Why might the
water of one region be much harder than another? The water of different region has different hardness
level because water comes from different sources of underground aquifers. The amount of

Dancer In The Dark And The Piano Analysis
Compare the ways in which Lars von Trier, in Dancer in the Dark, and Jane Campion in The Piano,
explore the idea that hope can be found even in the midst of the most adverse circumstances. In the
film, Dancer in the Dark, and the movie, The Piano, Lars von Trier and Jane Campion respectively
utilise various literary and circumstances. The historical contextual settings of both texts encapsulate
worlds of destruction in which the central female protagonists, Ada Mcgrath and Selma Jezkova,
withstand the understanding between the native Maori people towards the scripted and sterile play
which served as a form of happiness and communal gathering for Victorian Europeans suggests that
different forms of expression such as drama and music often lacks understanding when compared to
reality. Contrastingly, in the musical interludes, von Trier explores the idea that creativity brings a
sense of connection and unity through the use of artificial lighting, saturated colour palette, non
diegetic sound track and head shots and long shots exposing a community singing, dancing and
embracing. The vibrancy and liveliness in these musical scenes directly contrasts with the raw
reduction in the reality scenes and ultimately suggests that musicals create a hopeful and
reconciliatory world where, contrasting Campion s, there is always someone to catch you when you
fall. While creativity provides an escape from harsh reality, both Campion and von Trier explore the

Smartphones. Televisions. Computers. In this time period when technology has become prevalent, it is
almost impossible for someone to not have constant contact with such gadgets on an everyday basis.
As technology becomes more advanced, human beings are further entrenched in this field of
innovation. In fact, some have claimed that their dependence on technology is so extreme that instead
of using other means, they strive to eliminate its negative effects through more innovation (Dreyfuss).
Such overdependence can be considered as technology addiction. One of the most prominent changes

how severe the negative implications of technology could be, society was not able to keep pace with

Twelfth Night Essay
When two people are in a romantic relationship, marriage is usually the ultimate goal. Marriage is
precious, formal and sacred. In the play, Twelfth Night, three marriages are depicted. One of the
marriages has happened because of a mistake and the other given as a reward. Which means that one
marriage will be more long lasting than the other. In my opinion, Viola and Orsino s marriage is going
to be the most successful because of their love and commitment to each other, the length of time they
have known each other and finally the trust between them. Firstly, love and commitment is one of the
many factors that contribute to a successful marriage. Love and commitment allow couples to act with
integrity, respect and care for each other. The readers can clearly see the commitment Viola has for
Duke Orsino when she says, After him I love/More than I love these eyes, more than my life,/More,

Attaining Hiv Epidemic Control By Stopping Hiv
ATTAINING HIV EPIDEMIC CONTROL BY STOPPING HIV TRANSIMISSION TO WOMEN
AND YOUG GIRL
In Rwanda, HIV prevalence has dropped to less than 3% since mid 1990s. The country has made
considerable development in regard to its commitments to reduce the incidence of HIV in the general
population, decrease morbidity and mortality among PLHIV , and the provision of equal health care
services to both people infected and affected by HIV and those who are not.
However, reports are still highlighting that many young people, especially girls, remain at risk of
contracting the virus (Unicef.org.2016), and that there is a considerable gender inequity in term of
HIV prevention and treatment.
For the purpose of this paper, we will suggest a program that aim at reducing the health disparities that
disadvantage the young girls and women and expose them to contracting HIV disease.
We believe that community involvement and engagement are the first key steps when it comes to
addressing public health issues in the community. As Haber stated it, it is a way to build greater
knowledge of local issues and increase consensus around interventions (Haber, 2011).
To design this project we will follow the steps recommended steps in the community guide toolkit for
developing an intervention and for developing strategic and action plan.

The Importance Of Free Speech And The First Amendment
All the time, people are heard protesting about Free Speech , and The First Amendment . What rights
are really protected under the First Amendment according to our Constitution? The answer may be
shocking. In the United States of America, the concept of free speech is widely called upon to
reinforce the legality of offensive spoken words or actions. In reality, not all speech is protected under
the First Amendment. Sure, everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but where is the line between
what opinions are acceptable to be spoken of in public, and what is inappropriate or too offensive. The
true answer lies in the definition of the word public. While government run agencies such as public
universities have little they can do about what students say, private colleges have virtually no
requirements by law. Public universities have very little say in what students are allowed to say or do
so long as their speech and actions are reasonable. Reasonable is defined as, for the duration of this
essay, that they are not directly threatening to any person or group, they refrain from using fighting
words , and they do not take part in slander or libel. Any restriction of reasonable free speech by a
public university is unconstitutional. While public universities have requirements put upon them to
allow most free speech, private colleges have no such rules. The only requirements for any private
college to allow free speech are those put upon themselves by contract, or in few cases, put upon them
by their state. Private colleges are private so that they may choose which morals and ideals they put
forward and deem important. Although most private universities are not required to allow complete
freedom of speech on their campuses, many add an assurance of free speech or some variant of free
speech in their handbook. Free Speech Zones have become a popular solution to the ever growing
problem of the combination of protesters and easily offended people across the United States. These
zones exist in many places and are especially prevalent on college campuses. The intent of such zones

Resistance to Change in Organizations
BOTH ORGANIZATIONS AND INDIVIDUALS RESIST CHANGE. WHAT CAN BE DONE TO
OVERCOME THIS RESISTANCE?
It s not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive
to change. ~ Charles Darwin Organizational changes are changes that are made in the overall
framework of a company, such as restructuring in departments, changes in policies, or changes in
culture. It directly affects all departments, from the entry level employee to management. Any
business in today s fast moving environment that is looking for the pace of change to slow is likely to
be sorely disappointed. In fact, businesses should embrace change. Change is important for any
organization because, without change, businesses would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Aside from individual resistance, organizations as a whole also resist changes. Some organizations are
so designed that they resist new ideas. The major reasons for this type of resistance are : threat to
power; upper management considers change a threat to their power, authority and position. They fear
that new policies imposed for instance by the government, may result in them losing their status. Also
implementations such as participative decision making and self managed work teams affect their
purpose.
Additionally, companies resist change in their organizational structure. Especially bureaucratic
structures where jobs are narrowly defined and flow of information is stressed to from top to bottom.
This is usually because change in one part of these structures cant happen without causing disruption
in all levels.
Other popular reasons to resist change are resource constraints and sunk costs. If employees do accept
change, organizations must have the resources to accommodate the new changes. For example if
training agents are hired, the company needs to have sufficient financial resources to pay them and
also pay their employees. If they are not equipped with enough resources, they will resist change.
Also, it creates a problem for top management because a lot of capital would have already been
invested in fixed assets and training for employees for their current jobs.

Persuasive Speech On Apprenticeships Pros And Cons
Hello from western North Dakota. I hope this un seasonably warm fall has found everyone in good
spirits, and that we don t wind up paying for it down the road. I haven t seen any frost teeth out there
yet, so I consider that a good sign!
I hope everyone has been paying attention to the recent boost in emphasis on education in North
Dakota, because in it may exist the ability to help foster interest in our apprenticeships, and ultimately
an increased interest in hiring our employers. Both of those, certainly are big positives. Fueled by a
large, bipartisan Congressional effort, the US Department of Labor awarded a $200,000
apprenticeship grant to North Dakota Job Service in early June. Following that award over the
summer, the North Dakota Department of Commerce hosted a series of apprenticeship accelerator
meetings around the state, in an effort to increase the amount of registered apprenticeships. In
cooperation with the Dept. of Labor, representatives of the ND Department of Commerce and ND Job
Service distributed specific instructions and maintain an open link on their websites, in an effort to
help private employers develop their own apprenticeship programs. While it would certainly be a good
thing if the general public became aware, and hopefully accepting, of the benefits that apprenticeships
can provide, this recent fanfare may only serve to obscure the differences between registered and joint
programs. I believe that we may be able to capitalize on

Differences And Similarities Between Vinny And Joe-Boy
Have you ever had a friend who was mean to you and argued with you? Vinny and Joe Boy are both
characters in a story called The Ravine . They are best friends who live in Hawaii and go to a ravine to
cliff jump and swim. There was a boy who died there two weeks and one day before they arrived. Joe
Boy and Vinny are different in many ways and they are similar in some ways.
Vinny is weak because he couldn t stand up to his friends and say no. One example from the text is,
Vinny smashed his lips. He was so weak. Couldn t even say no. But if he d said, I can t go, my mother
won t like it. they would ve laughed him right off the island. No, he had to go. No choice. Vinny is
weak and can t stand up to his friends. In the same way, Vinny is compassionate because he feels
scared for Starlene. On page 7, it says She has no fear, Vinny thought, no fear at all.
Pleasepleaseplease,Starlene. I don t want to see you die. He feels very nervous about Starlene jumping
off the 50 foot ledge. On the other hand, Vinny is worried about Starlene jumping and getting hurt.
The author wrote, Vinny s stomach tingled just watching her. He couldn t imagine what it must be like
to be up there, especially if you were afraid of heights, like he was. Vinny is scared of heights and can
t stand watching Starlene jump.
Joe Boy is confident. He went to the ravine because he wanted to, not because his friends want him to.
One example from the text is, But then Starlene and Joe Boy said, Come with

  • 2. Government Intervention For R D And Entrepreneurship Government Intervention To Promote R D And Innovation In Small Medium Businesses Summary SBIR Policy The societies in the world are facing severe social and economic challenges. The 2008 09 downturn in the economy has led to lessened potential growth output, rise in unemployment and soaring public debt. To recover from this, it was necessary that the nations come up with sustainable growth sources. The search for new sources comes to an end when the countries have adopted a productivity growth infused with innovation. Innovation is the introduction of a significantly and newly improved product, method or process. It holds the access to boost productivity. All change contains a degree of novelty. (Glaister, 1996) The Oslo Manual gives account for three types of innovation. An innovation can be novel to the firm, novel to the market or novel to the world itself. The first type includes the circulation of the present innovation in the business. It is when the innovation has already for use in other companies. The change becomes new to the market when the firm is the first to introduce it to the market. An enormous range of factors like economy, government service, education or health, therefore, affects innovation. It can occur in any sector of the economy. (www.aaas.org) The current framework applies to change in business and sometimes in the public sector. The paper discusses innovation in the public sector in small scale industries. • 3. Language Bias 1. When writing a research report, there are five main issues of language bias . They include but, are not limited to, gender, age, sexuality, ethnicity, and disabilities. Gender is language bias, as it is a cultural term referring to social roles, which may be perceived as offensive. For example, referring to a female firefighter as a fireman implies that the female is actually a male firefighter. To avoid this, writers should ensure that they are using terms to avoid sexist bias. Next, age is language bias as a writer might think that someone is elderly because they are 50 but in reality, it is not accurate to call someone elderly until they are 65 or older. Those that are 50 could find this offensive. Thus to avoid this, a writer should always include an age range or refer to the APA manual when placing people into age categories. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When talking about sexuality, writers should use words like sexual orientation, as it is not implying the person chose a certain sexuality. For example, an author should not write about how being a gay man is a sexual preference, as it seems like it was his choice. More so, ethnicity is also language bias. It is best to refer to the geographic locations one is from, as ethnic labels can be offensive or harmful. Writers can avoid using slang language by aiming to identify persons by nation of origin. Lastly, language objectifying a person s condition or disability is language bias. Language including negative labels, or slurs should not be used, as they are harmful and offensive. If one needs to write about a condition, it is advised they place focus on the individual and not the disability. For example, if they are writing about dyslexia, they could state, persons with dyslexia find it frustrating to do group work (APA, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to the article of Funding Universe, Kohl s was faced with fierce competition in California from stores such as, Mervyns and Macy West. Some analysts contended the big push into the Golden State had distracted management, and indeed the company suffered from excess inventory, forcing it to discount heavily, which dented profits. Some shoppers turned to rival retailers when they encountered less well kept stores and longer checkout lines than usual. America and the President, Woodrow Wilson, were horrified by the destruction that had taken place in such a humane part of the world. The only way to avoid a repeat of such a disaster was to create an international committee whose purpose was to prevent wars by maintaining world peace. This would be the task of the League of Nations. Woodrow Wilson was the creator of the League of Nations in his Fourteen Points Speech. This was ironic because the United States failed to join the League of Nations. Examples Of Identity In Huckleberry Finn The Hoax of Personalities In Mark Twain s the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, the true identity of an individual is questioned countless times between three central characters. Along with identity, one s self pride can also be at task. The inheritance of money, faking death, and the will to be free are at hand to become a true successor in the journey northward. With help from the so called King and Duke, their mission to Cairo is put more at risk rather than if Huck and Jim remained alone. Before the trip even started, Huck had to escape the imprisonment of his cruel and abusive father, Pap. Huck s idea of a good father was far from what Pap was, a drunk. Pap had kidnapped him because he claimed Huck was more advanced personally; he could read, write, and he had money Miss Watson gave him. Huck s only chance of a life outside abuse was an escape. I took the axe and smashed in the door I beat it and hacked it considerable, a doing it. I fetched the pig in and took him back nearly to the table and hacked into his throat with the ax, and laid him on the ground to bleed (Twain 25). When you figure out what love is, your heart will grow even bigger. Love can bring together the love of others around them. But love can also bring effect on others that have not seen what love can do to them. Love is not the impact of how expensive your belongings are. Nothing is more expensive than the price of love. The Importance Of Stakeholders In The Classroom Environment Bron and Veugelers (2014) elucidate a classroom environment encompasses a vast and diverse student body that should be reflected in the utilized curriculum which will continually adapt to the ever changing elements and culture surrounding it. In contrasting demeanor, some individual beings have lavished in the comfort that is granted to them through faith and religion. The repression of one s inquisitive behavior reaps growth in acceptance of trivial mysteries regarding life. Likely, human reactions to genuine solitude vary and are ultimately subjective in accordance to each human s differing perception. Debuting during the Revolutionary era in literature, The Last Man by Thomas Campbell embraced societal speculation, and provided interesting documentation that regarded the termination of the human race. The narrator of Campbell s poem, who presumably lacks the mortal conditions of the human species, garners a pessimistic outlook upon the forced separation between he and all mortal beings. Opposing Campbell s dreary attitudes on the topic, Wordsworth delivered a speaker within his poem titled I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud who insistently, and gleefully observed and portrayed nature from an area of chosen detachment. Within these poems, Wordsworth and Campbell centralized the concept of the complete isolation of man from all but the nature that surrounds him. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 25. What Psychological Information Is Available From The Early... Recognizing a face is a starting point when interacting socially, as it is the most important stimuli we see. The face portrays information about a person s identity, their emotional state and where they are directing their visual attention. To be able to process this information within a very short space of time is crucial in social interactions and probably dates back to our ancestor s survival. The human brain is very adept in processing an abundance of information in a simple yet effortless way. These processes require such specific brain areas to do this. This essay is going to discuss what psychological information is available from the early stages of face processing. The essay will discuss the neuroscience and the regions of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When humans cognitively process faces this involves either holistic processing or configural processing. There is evidence that the processing of faces is done much more holistically than with objects as this comes from studies of inversion (Yin, 1969). An inverted face impairs the recognition and is much more difficult to encode than with other objects and this could be due to the spatial relations. In facial recognition a face model was created by Bruce and Young in 1986 and is one of the most influential face models to be created and is still used. It comprises of eight components: structural encoding, expression analysis, facial speech analysis, directed visual processing, face recognition nodes, person identity nodes, name generation and cognitive system. According to their face recognition model various types of information are acquired from faces. When recognising a familiar face, the components used depend largely on structural encoding, face recognition units, person identity nodes and name generation. In comparison with an unfamiliar face, the components used depend largely on structural encoding, expression analysis, facial speech analysis and directed visual processing. However, as the face model created by Bruce and Young (1986) was quite complex, a simpler version was created by Duchaine and Nakayama (2006) which provided four stages: face detection, structural encoding, face memory and emotion/gender etc. It is undeniable ... The shampoo will then lather and creates more bubbles; that s greater to bathe in. 3) Pots and pans used for boiling water often develop a coating of scale in homes that use hard water. What might this scale be? The scale might be magnesium and calcium. After the water reaches its boiling point, all the water molecules would turns into gas evaporates, left the solid magnesium and calcium at the bottom of the pans. 4) Why might the water of one region be much harder than another? The historical contextual settings of both texts encapsulate worlds of destruction in which the central female protagonists, Ada Mcgrath and Selma Jezkova, withstand the understanding between the native Maori people towards the scripted and sterile play which served as a form of happiness and communal gathering for Victorian Europeans suggests that different forms of expression such as drama and music often lacks understanding when compared to reality. Contrastingly, in the musical interludes, von Trier explores the idea that creativity brings a sense of connection and unity through the use of artificial lighting, saturated colour palette, non diegetic sound track and head shots and long shots exposing a community singing, dancing and embracing. The vibrancy and liveliness in these musical scenes directly contrasts with the raw reduction in the reality scenes and ultimately suggests that musicals create a hopeful and reconciliatory world where, contrasting Campion s, there is always someone to catch you when you fall. • 42. The Importance Of Free Speech And The First Amendment All the time, people are heard protesting about Free Speech , and The First Amendment . What rights are really protected under the First Amendment according to our Constitution? The answer may be shocking. In the United States of America, the concept of free speech is widely called upon to reinforce the legality of offensive spoken words or actions. In reality, not all speech is protected under the First Amendment. Sure, everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but where is the line between what opinions are acceptable to be spoken of in public, and what is inappropriate or too offensive. The true answer lies in the definition of the word public. While government run agencies such as public universities have little they can do about what students say, private colleges have virtually no requirements by law. Public universities have very little say in what students are allowed to say or do so long as their speech and actions are reasonable. Reasonable is defined as, for the duration of this essay, that they are not directly threatening to any person or group, they refrain from using fighting words , and they do not take part in slander or libel. Any restriction of reasonable free speech by a public university is unconstitutional. While public universities have requirements put upon them to allow most free speech, private colleges have no such rules. The only requirements for any private college to allow free speech are those put upon themselves by contract, or in few cases, put upon them by their state. Private colleges are private so that they may choose which morals and ideals they put forward and deem important. Although most private universities are not required to allow complete freedom of speech on their campuses, many add an assurance of free speech or some variant of free speech in their handbook. Free Speech Zones have become a popular solution to the ever growing problem of the combination of protesters and easily offended people across the United States. These zones exist in many places and are especially prevalent on college campuses. The intent of such zones is arguably good, to ensure that the purpose of universities remains centered on learning. Aside from individual resistance, organizations as a whole also resist changes. Some organizations are so designed that they resist new ideas. The major reasons for this type of resistance are : threat to power; upper management considers change a threat to their power, authority and position. They fear that new policies imposed for instance by the government, may result in them losing their status. Also implementations such as participative decision making and self managed work teams affect their purpose. Additionally, companies resist change in their organizational structure. Especially bureaucratic structures where jobs are narrowly defined and flow of information is stressed to from top to bottom. This is usually because change in one part of these structures cant happen without causing disruption in all levels. Other popular reasons to resist change are resource constraints and sunk costs. If employees do accept change, organizations must have the resources to accommodate the new changes. For example if training agents are hired, the company needs to have sufficient financial resources to pay them and also pay their employees. If they are not equipped with enough resources, they will resist change. I hope everyone has been paying attention to the recent boost in emphasis on education in North Dakota, because in it may exist the ability to help foster interest in our apprenticeships, and ultimately an increased interest in hiring our employers.
