What are Souvenirs?
Souvenir Store
The main idea of the project was to create a
set of souvenir items that can be sold through
a single outlet in the campus of IIT Guwahati.
The idea was to create aesthetically pleasing,
useful daily life items that represents the
identity of IIT Guwahati, which anyone visiting
the campus can buy from a common outlet
and take back with them to cherish the
memory of visiting the campus. But since the
campus already have a lot of merchandise to
sell, be it the cultural/technical fest t-shirts or
other items, we were actually lacking a
common outlet to market and sell all the
products under one roof giving each of them
the much needed attention that they deserve.
So the idea of Souvenir Store was born, then
and there.
Aim
Create a Souvenir Store- a shop where all the
merchandise related to IIT Guwahati can be
displayed and sold to anyone who is residing in
the campus or visiting the campus. The idea is
to promote the products through a distinctive
branding method, and an innovative display
idea that have not yet been reached to the
shops of IIT Guwahati.

The campus has a great potential in marketing
and selling a lot of products as it inhabits a
couple of thousand people. Also the shop can
serve as a cultural exchange centre, where
people visiting the campus can explore the
campus and the North-East India.

Design Methodologies
A seven step design methodology was adapted for early completion and smooth running of the
project. A detailed time line was sketched out in order to make it possible to be completed within
the single semester time schedule.

In the future, when people will be more
acquainted with the idea of Souvenir Store
there are many improvements/changes that
can be employed to the idea to make it more
interactive and user friendly.

One of the concept designs where in user
interaction is managed by a system which
manages all the data regarding storing, buying,
selling of the goods is shown here.

The users can buy goods using their identity
cards/smart cards given to them which takes
care of the payment. This system can greatly
help in reducing human effort and
maintenance of the store. The store will
function 24×7 without any glitch.

  • 1. IIT GUWAHATI Souvenir Store Ranju K Ravindran 10020533 Guide: Manoj Majhi Assistant Professor
  • 3. Souvenir Store The main idea of the project was to create a set of souvenir items that can be sold through a single outlet in the campus of IIT Guwahati. The idea was to create aesthetically pleasing, useful daily life items that represents the identity of IIT Guwahati, which anyone visiting the campus can buy from a common outlet and take back with them to cherish the memory of visiting the campus. But since the campus already have a lot of merchandise to sell, be it the cultural/technical fest t-shirts or other items, we were actually lacking a common outlet to market and sell all the products under one roof giving each of them the much needed attention that they deserve. So the idea of Souvenir Store was born, then and there.
  • 4. Aim Create a Souvenir Store- a shop where all the merchandise related to IIT Guwahati can be displayed and sold to anyone who is residing in the campus or visiting the campus. The idea is to promote the products through a distinctive branding method, and an innovative display idea that have not yet been reached to the shops of IIT Guwahati. The campus has a great potential in marketing and selling a lot of products as it inhabits a couple of thousand people. Also the shop can serve as a cultural exchange centre, where people visiting the campus can explore the campus and the North-East India.

  • 6. Design Methodologies A seven step design methodology was adapted for early completion and smooth running of the project. A detailed time line was sketched out in order to make it possible to be completed within the single semester time schedule.   • 13. Future of Souvenir Store Front View In the future, when people will be more acquainted with the idea of Souvenir Store there are many improvements/changes that can be employed to the idea to make it more interactive and user friendly. One of the concept designs where in user interaction is managed by a system which manages all the data regarding storing, buying, selling of the goods is shown here. Isometric View The users can buy goods using their identity cards/smart cards given to them which takes care of the payment. This system can greatly help in reducing human effort and maintenance of the store. The store will function 24×7 without any glitch.
