Essay on Radio One
Radio one analsys
1) Why does Radio One want to acquire the 12 urban stations from Clear Channel Communications
in the top 50 markets along with nine stations in Charlotte, NC, Augusta, GA, and Indianapolis, IN?
What benefits and risks?
The Reasons for acquiring the 12 urban stations from Clear Channel could be the following:
Bigger African AmericanBase: It would draw more African American listeners than any other radio
broadcaster and cover more African American households than any other media vehicle targeting
the audience. Plus those 12 stations include a media company (BET Holdings) which targeted the
African American population by its media Black Entertainment Television .

Stereotactic Radiosurgery
Stereotactic radiosurgery works the same as all other forms of radiation treatment. It does not
remove the tumor or lesion, but is distorts the DNA of the tumor cells. The cells then lose their
ability to reproduce and retain fluids. The tumor reduction occurs at the rate of normal growth for
the specific tumorcell. In lesions such as AVMs (a tangle of blood vessels in the brain),
radiosurgery causes the blood vessels to thicken and close off. The shrinking of a tumor or
closing off of a vessel occurs over a period of time. For benign tumors and vessels, this will
usually be 18 months to two years. For malignant or metastatic tumors, results may be seen in a few
months, because these cells are very fast growing.

Kanye West Jesus Walks Lyrics Analysis
Jesus Walks is a rap song by the artist Kanye West, and the song could be considered a
progressive rap song. Because throughout the lyrics he addresses the crime acts done in
Chicago, and the different types of wars we are facing here in America. He says in the beginning
of the song We at war with terrorism, racism, but most of all we at war with ourselves then the
next verse he expresses some acts of crimes performed in the streets. As the express acts of
racism, and terrorism or acts of protest during the music video, also towards the end of the music
video it shows a member of the KKK building his cross that he sets on fire at the end of the video.
But the religious side of both the song and music video are quite interesting. If you

Positive Change In Food Waste Levels
Over the course of the last 47 years our level of wasted food has increased by 40% meaning that
we throw away one third of our food. This problem is also more devastating than most people
realize. We waste billions of dollars of food and the amount of food that just the united states
wastes in one year could fill 730 football stadiums. This food wastealso is hurting the environment
in a major way, increasing our CO2 levels exponentially. All of this food that we waste could be
going to serving the homeless and starving. The best way to start to make positive change in food
waste levels is to begin to recognize the problem, spread awareness for the environmental damage it
does, and to start to implement policies that give small businesses... Show more content on

Even if people understood that food would still not get to people who need it because getting the
food to the hungry and to shelters and the poor is not cheap for the suppliers and is actually
cheaper for them to just throw it away. That might be the biggest issue of all because for
businesses to donate food is very expensive, they have to box it, store it, coordinate delivery
dates, and there s a lot of overheads, and you cannot blame most companies for trying to make
ends meat. Companies are also not charities, which is why companies should be incentivized to
donate food with tax breaks, large corporations already get one, charity s get them and it would
increase the amount of food that s being donated exponentially. Especially for small companies
because annoyingly small companies tax breaks are not a permanent part of the tax code. This
means that Congress has to keep renewing it which is a problem, because family farms and
local restaurants may not know if they re going to get that break and the end of the year. So
donating food might not be financially viable for them. IT s a ridiculous system that prevents a
lot of food from being donated. It s a widely agreed upon statement that small businesses should
receive tax incentives to donate food. Once we do this it will be just one small piece of stopping
this problem, and the

The Consequences Of Space Travel And Exploration
1. Space travel and exploration have many benefits, however, there are also some possible
consequences. Space travel is worth it for many reasons. Just like the ocean; space is infinite
and there is another world to discover so to speak. There are so many things that we don t know
about the ocean and space. For one, space is a mystery containing several artifacts, entities, and
possible species that could have the ability to open doors to a whole new universe. There could
potentially be life on another planet or even a planet similar to earth that can support life.
However, mankind will never know unless we opt to explore the kingdom of space.
2. Reasons why some naysayers believe there shouldn t be more space travel is the cost. It costs
$500 $700 million every time a space shuttle flies. Additionally, it costs space tourists $20 million
to fly to the space station. Some will ask why spend money on space exploration when there are so
many other things that should take precedence. The Global Positioning System (GPS) was built
in 1978 which cost $12 billion to build it. The Galileo which is Europe s GPS has an estimated
cost of $6.3 billion. The Apollo Space Program started in 1961 1972, and the total cost of the
program was $109 billion. As you can see, space travel is extremely expensive. In addition to the
costs of the programs and the shuttles, is the salary that is paid to the Astronauts. In 1969 Neil
Armstrong was paid $20,000 for his trip to space. In 2012 Astronauts were paid $125,000 for their
trip to space so the cost has increased immensely.
3. Another possible reason that people don t agree with space exploration is that if there are alien
lifeforms, there might be a chance that they will try to harm the human species. The famed physicist
Stephen Hawking is one who believes this to be the case. This is what he had to say on the topic:
Such advanced aliens would perhaps become nomads, looking to conquer and colonize whatever
planets they could reach. This statement was mentioned in 2010 on an episode of Into the Universe
with Stephen Hawking. He also stated that Alien civilization would have no problem wiping out the
human race the way a human might wipe out a colony of ants. We

Transport Sector Current Constraints
Inadequate infrastructure to support transport and trade movement along the main transport and
trade corridors.
According to SCRB, 80 per cent of the existing roads in Iraq are in bad condition and require
immediate attention.
The roads serving the East West Corridors, leading to its western borders (Abu Kamal,
Al Tanf and Al Karama) suffered significant damage during the last decade due to war and
maintenance delays. These roads lack capacity and axle load control for the projected increase in
trade as the country reconstructs its economy.
The road north from Um Qasr to Baghdad lacks capacity for the projected traffic through this
corridor and is in need of rehabilitation and maintenance.
From the North side, there are about 3,000 heavy trucks entering Iraq daily from
Turkey through Ibrahim El Khalil border crossing and these trucks currently use the mountainous, 2
lane, windy and dangerous road through Zakho to reach Duhok and the rest of Iraq causing about
0.5 fatalities per km, an unacceptable risk. There is urgent need therefore to direct this heavy
traffic through a safer route to reach Duhok on its way to Erbil and the rest of Iraq. Although
accurate data are not available,

An Efficient Way Transmit Codes
Throughout time the need for an efficient way transmit codes were essential to success, after
World War I and into the start of World War II American forces was running out of ideas for
codes. The USA had always used the white s soldiers for the code talkers because there were
easy to train, and a abundance of them to choose making them the practice choose for code
talkers. Until Philip Johnston, he was an initiator that worked for a Marine Corps program. As a
kid and into his teens he grew up on a Navajo reservation and his dad was a missionary. Whit all
the time that Johnston spent of the reservation he became familiar with the people and their
language. With the use of the Navajos it grained equality for Native Americans which was not
found in the late 1800 s, and soon it gained them a greater respect by the whites into today s age.
In the late 1800 s Indians were seen through the eyes of the settlers as pests, people who occupy
the land that rightfully belonged to the whites. They were thought of as savages. However this
was not true, the Navajo Indians and many other tribes were only willing to fight for their land,
families and the property that they have inhabited for hundreds of years (Robert A. Roessel, 1). In
this time of lack of control, Navajos were overpowered by Americans who were in position of
authority and control. This is because Americans lacked the understanding of the Navajo way,
leading to be fatal for many as they were being transferred, resigned,

Examples Of Police Corruption
What is Police corruption? In legal dictionary Police corruption is defined as The misuse of police
authority for personal gain . Personal gain can mean monetary payment or any other type of
benefit. Corruption is not a new or uncommon obstacle facing the police departments. The problem
goes far back as the forming of the organized policeforces. Police corruption is a problem that hurts
both the police organization and the society. Since its beginning many aspects of policing has
changed; however, one aspect that has remained unchanged is the corruption within the police
departments. In my paper I will be looking into an instance of police corruption scandal that

At that time Officer Perez was suspected of working with known drug dealers to distribute the
cocaine on the streets. But the scandal started revealing later in 1999 after Perez made a deal
with prosecutors under which he pled guilty to cocaine theft and agreed to provide prosecutors
with wrongdoing in the Rampart CRASH unit. Perez worked with investigators over the next
year, providing over 4,000 pages of interrogation transcripts. Perez s testimony revealed police
corruption on an unimagined scale, implicating police officers in wrongful killings, indiscriminate
beatings and violence, theft, and drug dealing. Perez s testimony also implicated dozens of police
officers in systematic acts of dishonest law enforcement, exposing hundreds of instances in which
evidence or contraband was planted on suspects, false statements were coerced or fabricated, and
police officers offered perjured testimony in court. Perez s confessions prompted the LAPD to re
name its investigative task force the Rampart Task Force . The Task Force was charged with
corroborating Perez s allegations of corruption within Rampart CRASH. What followed was, in the
words of one independent commission, one of the worst police scandals in American history.

1. (10 points) Write out your pre lab prediction, including what evidence or previous knowledge you
have to support that prediction.
Answer below:
Things rising and setting give the appearance of something rising or setting. In reality objects like
the Sun or Moon aren t physically rising from the horizon. Most of the motions we see in the sky
are caused by the Earth s motion, both its rotation and orbital motion. So all of the motions
described below are really apparent motions and not really an indication of how things are actually
moving, but how they appear to move.

The lowest declination in San Diego, CA is 57 and the north latitude is 33 at Midnight. With this
declination the nearest object to see is Triangulum Constellation.
9. (10 points) Using the skills you learned in this activity, determine the approximate month that the
Sun is within the borders of each zodiac constellation.
Answer below:
First, the zodiacal constellations provide the backdrop for the pathway of the sun around our sky
each year, and of the moon for every month. Since the sun s path lies within these constellations,
you know you can look for them along the approximate path that the sun follows during the day
from east to west across the sky. The constellations of the Zodiac should be visible during the
month of October.
10. (10 points) Using the skills you learned in this activity, find and name one constellation that is
currently each of the following: rising in east, high in the south, setting in the west, and not visible
at all from your location at midnight. Determine the seasonal group of which each constellation you
name is a part. Which constellation is part of the group seen during the current season? Be sure to
include your location, data and time of observation.

Two Reasons Why Mother Teresa Is A Hero
Attention Grabbing Device
Imagine people everywhere, lining alleyways. Homeless families begging for food and diseases
running rampant on the streets. These are the slums of Calcutta, India. Life in this city is miserable,
desperation pervades this hopeless environment. But within there s still some optimism to be found.
Strangely enough, it comes in the form of a woman, barely five feet tall, and armed with nothing
but kindness.
Thesis
Mother Teresa is a hero because she is selfless, courageous, and has strong leadership abilities.
Bio
Mother Teresa was born in Skopje, Macedonia in 1910. At the age of 18 she joined a group of nuns
in Ireland. After months of training with the Sisters of Loreto, she traveled to India. She took her

Mother Teresa gave up everything just to help those less fortunate. For example, in 1979 she won
a Nobel Peace Prize with $192,000 worth of prize money and instead of keeping she used it to
create multiple homes for victims of leprosy. She was commemorated with the highest honor, yet
she was still thinking of others.
The second reason Mother Teresa is a hero is because she is courageous. For instance, many
people could have shunned her for helping the unwanted, but she found the courage and strength in
her heart to help those in need. Also, she helped a particular group that had leprosy, which is a
very contagious disease. She set up many clinics in order to help these people even though she put
herself at risk of catching the disease.
The final reason Mother Teresa is a hero is because she was a strong leader. This trait can be
exemplified because she had a relentless focus on her mission helping the poor. She effectively
implemented her plan and cared for the people of Calcutta. Mother Teresa was a situational
leader, for example she helped people according to their situation, if they were starving she would
give them food, if they were homeless she would provide a home for them to say at, or if they
were sick she helped them to heal. If a situation came, she would find a solution to help them in

Analysis of the State of the New Media Art
The article is an analysis of the state of the new media art. The new media uses digital
communication to express its artwork and Muir (2002) choses certain works as illustrative
examples of their format. Their spectrum was so called old, middle aged and modern digital art
that spanned the 19th century to the present moment. Their first example was June Paik s
magnet TV 91965). Paik integrated music, video,a nd sculptural forms of objects in order to
convey modern relationship to TV. Intending to convey the omnipotence of TV, Paik s
aforementioned sculpture consisted of a large magnet on top of a television set. The magnet was
manipulated by hand to create abstract patterns of light inside the monitor. The work was
deliberately constructed in a simple way so as to arouse discussion and thought regarding the all
powerful influence and, some would say, insidiousness, of TV. Nicholas Schoffer is called the
Father of Cybernetics and Video Art. He is another example of creators of media Art. Schoffer s
sculptures combining electronics with sculpture included his 52 meter high cybernetics Tower of
Liege , which consisted of mirrors, projectors, microphones, and photoelectric cells. Schoeffer also
produced Microtine Sculptures (1968 1969) that was composed of discs and manipulated by
electronics to produce pulsating light. Robert Adrian s work was in telecommunication. His work
included the world in 24 hours (1982) where artists from international spots converged at

Understanding The Roots Of Crime
One may avoid negativity for any kind of reason. One may be distressed by it, or perhaps one may
find negativity traumatizing to their emotions. Whatever it may be, some people attempt to dodge
any sort of negativity. The topic of my independent novel serves to not only challenge the idea of
avoiding any kind of depressing news, but to bring light to new ways of thinking that humanity
should adopt should we want to understand the roots of crime. Furthermore, we should use our
knowledge of these roots to prevent crime.

Later still, Sylvia was accused of spreading rumors that Paula and Stephanie Baniszewski were
prostitutes at Arsenal Technical High School. This provoked Stephanie s boyfriend, Coy Hubbard
to flip Sylvia onto the floor and bang her head against the wall. Gertrude encouraged other
neighborhood children floating in and out of the house to flip Sylvia and burn her with cigarettes.
Torture became the neighborhood game. What served as Gertrude s pretense for keeping Sylvia

Soon after, Sylvia became incontinent, and Gertrude locked her in the basement. A bathing regime
came into action; every other day, Sylvia was burned with scalding water. She was starved and
often kept naked. Grosser indignities were to follow, with Gertrude continuing to authorize Sylvia s

A few days before her death, Gertrude decided that Sylvia deserved to be branded after she branded

Quotations In Julius Caesar, Mark Twain, And John Lennon
We see the quotations everywhere: Sometimes we have to fall apart so better things can fall
together, attributed to Marilyn Monroe, Be the change you want to see in the world, attributed to
Gandhi, and If I knew that I had eight hours to chop a tree down, I would spend the first six
sharpening my axe, attributed to Abraham Lincoln. These quotations are on Facebook profiles, in
pop songs, in school books, and in modern bestsellers. Julius Caesar, Mark Twain, and John Lennon
are some of the more common characters who are often referred to as some of the greatest word
smiths of all time. The problem is that many of the quotations have been tampered with and altered
throughout history. Many quotations attributed to famous people are, at best, paraphrases though
often superior to the original. Others might be subtly altered in the retelling, sometimes with little
impact on their effect, but at other times irresponsibly changing the meaning. Of course, many

Thoreau s House Near Walden Analysis
The location of Thoreau s house near walden pond is detailed revealing its location is near the
Fitchburg Railroad. The locomotive is perceived as disruptive, as it interrupts his state of serenity in
nature with its loud noise making him irritated. THerefore, the railroad symbolizes the departure
from a simplistic, spiritual life connected with nature and the transition to a an industrial America.
Thoreau has previously criticized the industrial revolution for its technological innovation that
disassociate an individual from their spiritual beliefs turning them into a machine. The narrator
aspires for a natural self the railroad entering into his tranquil world symbolizes industrial novelty
monopolizing the world. It can also symbolize all that is wrong with the human mind, including
avarice and moral fallibility. Thoreau did not believe it materialistic individuals as he thought
people should only own necessary goods. The train was not essential, representing many of the

could you slaughter the very man who dines in your castle and promotes you? Wisdom often tends

Spain. He forcefully listens to her confessions and also writes down her perspective as to what
really happened when Cortez arrived and took their land.
Both Huitzitzilin and Father Benito come from different worlds. Huitzitzilin was an eighty two

were of the Aztec tribe and called themselves the Mexica. She experienced at first hand the
coming of Cortes and his men. As well as the suffering and the end of her people and home as
she once knew it. On the other hand, Father Benito was a twenty seven year old priest born in
Spain. Huitzitzilin tells Father Bentio, What I am remembering happened many years before you
were born. But perhaps you know some of the details of those times when your captain and your
four legged beasts came across the waters to infest our world (Limon 13 14). This

The Purpose Of This Research Is To Prove The Usefulness
The purpose of this research is to prove the usefulness of the Myers Briggs personality test, and the
Maslow s hierarchy of needs theories working in Music management. The music industry is tough,
and finding an exceptional Artist Manager, is one of the major keys to any artist success. A
Mangers role is to provide a stress free environment that allows an Artist to flourish and focus
creatively, while primarily the Artist s Manager focuses on the more tactical deeds. For every
individual, there are factors that affect that specific individual s mood, focus, and work ethic. By
understanding artists required needs, and personality, Managers can better prevent many common

It is important for every manager to know which lower level needs are essential in fueling and
supporting his/her Artists function and performance on a day to day basis. Skipping a meal
might not seem like a big deal to some, but eating is an extremely important part of every person
s basic needs to survive and function effectively. Food fuels the body and without fuel, it is more
difficult for many individuals to carry out tasks and focus. Between 6 72 hours without eating,
the human body enters a state called ketosis as it begins to fast or starve. Because there is now
very little glucose in the blood stream, one s body must then begin to break down fat for energy
which is broken down into fatty acids. The brain can t function off this and it impairs normal brain
function. (B.T. and Challis, 2016) If not eating impairs brain functionality, then it would easily
affect an artist work ethic in the studio, singing ability or even writing habits. Knowing how long
his/her artist can continue to work effectively without food, allows the manager to prepare an
effective environment ensuring that one of the artists basic psychological needs are met, and
therefore they can motivate themselves to move towards a higher tier of motivational needs. The
stamina of each artist is different, and some artist can go longer periods of time without eating, and
still have the ability to focus, and execute their given tasks, while others have to eat at specific

Current Status Of The Refining Industry Essay
The refining industry is a massive global industry that brings in billions of dollars every year.
Millions of Americans use gasoline and petroleum products in their daily lives but rarely give
much thought to how these fuels get refined, or which states or nations do the majority of the
reining. Even fewer people give thought to the impact that the lack of refineries has on oil
producing states, and/or oil rich nations. This research paper examines the current status of the
refining industry, the domestic and global locations of oil refineries, the impact of the aging
domestic refineries, as well as considering if/where the U.S. should build new refineries to keep
up with the growing demand. An analytical look into the status of the refining industry reveals that
this billion dollar industry is relying on aging refineries, why refineries are located where they are
and the impact that not having a refinery has on both oil producing states (in America) and on oil
rich nations around the globe. Oil refineries are dispersed throughout the world and throughout the
United States, but what makes one location better suited for a refinery than another? Many
refineries are located close to crude oil production centers such as the Gulf Coast (which has
significant volumes of crude oil produced both onshore and offshore); near destinations for
importing crude oil; or near major population centers where much of the refineries output will be
needed (e.g., California and the areas near

Federal Indian Policies
Beginning in 1789 with George Washington, the Indians living next to the American people forced
federal Indian policies to be created, which ranged from coexistence to removal. These policies
under the seven different presidents coincided in ways regarding expansion and removal, but also
changed in ways regarding American interaction, civilization, and removal tactics of the Indians.
Despite the consistent similarities in federal Indian policies during the years between the
Washington and Jackson Administrations, the time frame ultimately led to major evolvement and
transformations in viewpoints, treatments, and actions.
George Washington and John Adams administrations had similar intentions, but policies were

In a sudden manner, the voluntary movements of Natives to lands west of the Mississippi became
politically and militarily enforced movement to a specific territory, what is now present day

Natives establish their own land to civilize (James Monroe and the Indians). John Quincy Adams
encouraged the movement of Indians to west of the Mississippi, but also while purchasing their
previous land, rather than annexing it(Presidency of John Quincy Adams). These methods kept
peace and negotiation between the Indians and the Americans. As soon as Jackson was elected
president, he called for military force to remove the Indians from their land through the Indian
Removal Act. This sudden modification was because of Jackson s belief that Indians should not
live east of the Mississippi river and strongly urged the use of military action prior to his election
in 1829. Due to Jackson s new law, Indian Nations were forced to move into Oklahoma on the Trail
of Tears, which resulted in many deaths (Indian Removal Act). The removal of Indians continued

westward expansion, which began with Washington s

design of the MacBook Pro was created and originally manufactured in California, the assembly of
the laptop now takes place in China due to the fact that the company is able to earn a greater profit

Systemic Osteoporosis
Systemic glucocorticoids are the leading cause of secondary osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is
described by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a progressive systemic skeletal disease
characterised by low bone mass and microarchitectural deterioration of bone tissue, with a
consequent increase in bone fragility and susceptibility to fracture . Oral glucocorticoids are the
low bonemass and microarchitectural deterioration main iatrogenic cause of fragility fracture.
Relationship between glucocorticoid use and bone loss has been studied and established since
1990. Early studies showed that oral glucocorticoid cause a substantial loss in bone densityand other
bone markers. Subsequent epidemiological research identified confirmed the link between fracture
and oral glucocorticoid use. Fragility fractures are the ultimate clinical endpoint that is targeted to

resultant fractures are hip, proximal femur, vertebral, distal radius and ulna, which are often labeled
as major osteoporotic fractures. Fracture of the tibia, fibula, patella, ribs, and sacrum are also
considered fractures attributable to osteoporosis. A substantial amount of evidence showed
increased risk of mortality post fragility fracture. A systematic analysis of epidemiological studies
showed that the mortality rate during the first year after hip fracture ranged from 8.4% to 36.0%.

Significance Of Middle-Class Lifestyle In Truman Capote s...
The middle class lifestyle is no doubt the most prevalent way of living for many American
citizens today despite controversy on the basis of who is considered a middle class citizen. In
Cold Blood is an excellent portrayal of the prevalence of the middle class society lifestyle and
normalities during the 1950s time period. In the 1950s, the economy was on a significant rise
prior to World War II, as it grew by a shocking 37% allowing for middle class Americans 30%
more spending money (shmoop.com). In his novel, In Cold Blood, Capote describes the Clutters

comparing him to the richest man in the county, the audience can assume he is neither rich nor

Time Value of Money Paper
Time Value of Money Paper In order to understand how to deal with money the important idea to
know is the time value of money. Time Value of Money (TVM) is the simple concept that a dollar
that someone has now is worth more than the dollar that person will receive in the future, this is
because the moneythat the person holds today is worth more because it can be invested and earn
interest (Web Finance, Inc., 2007). The following paper will explain how annuities affect TVM
problems and investment outcomes. The issues that impact TCM will also be discussed: Interest
rates and compounding (with two problems), present value, future value, opportunity cost, annuities

Opportunity cost is another important concept in making financial decisions. For example, if an
asset such as capital is used for one purpose, the opportunity cost is the value of the next best
purpose the asset could have been used for (Web Finance, Inc., 2007). Opportunity cost can also
be referred to as rate of return. A rate of return is the total income per period per dollar invested
(Brealey, Myers Marcus, 2003). To do this the formula i = ( FV / PV) (1/n) 1 can be used
(Getobjects.com, 2004). Opportunity cost is the benefit or cash flow forgone as a result of an action
(Brealey, Myers Marcus, 2003). An annuity is a sequence of equally spaced levels of cash flows
(Brealey, Myers Marcus, 2003). Some examples are car payments, loans, mortgages, or utilities.
Annuities can be set monthly, bi monthly, weekly, quarterly or annually. The payments or
receipts occur at the end of each period for an ordinary annuity while they occur at the beginning
of each period for an annuity due (Getobjects.com, 2004). There are two places that annuities fall
under, present and future. The present value of an ordinary annuity is the value of equally
spaced payments in the future (Brealey, Myers Marcus, 2003). Which can be calculated as PVoa
= PMT [(1 (1 / (1 + i)n)) / i] PVoa = Present Value of an Ordinary Annuity, PMT = Amount of each
payment, i = Discount Rate per Period, and n = Number of Periods (Getobjects.com, 2004). The

Organisational Culture And Organizational Culture
Organisational culture refers to the shared beliefs and values guiding the thinking and behavioural
styles of members (Cooke and Rousseau, 1988, in Bratton 2010: 334), indicating that employees
who accept the common values of an organisation and put great effort on commitments are likely
to build up a strong culture to an organisation. Edgar Schein (2004) proposed three levels of
organisational culture. As employees go through changes, they gain experiences from the past,
adapt to a new environment and develop ability to solve problem. The first level is artefacts, which
include all visible characteristics of an organisation, for instance, the architectures/furniture in the
office, uniforms of employees and language. These are the observable elements of an
organisational culture and might influence the way and attitude of how the employees work. The
second level is espoused values in which the influence patterns of observable behaviour at work can
be recognised. Each member will impose dominant values and rules of conduct about the culture
and these affect employees certainty to work under a particular area. The perceived value that can
demonstrate reliability and be scientifically tested will be transformed into assumption. It then
comes to the third stage of basic assumptions which are taken into granted and are difficult to
change. When an assumption or belief about human nature was supported to be worked
successfully, this frames how the reality should be and shapes

During the world wars, there was a plethora of propaganda that was issued by the Germany, the

Many subcultures have derived since the beginning of time. They could be classified through
religion, culture, style, outlook on life and many other aspects. The one subculture that has grown
tremendously through out time is a very hard one to notice as a subculture opposed to a sport. Its

Schwarzenegger, Franco Columbo, and Frank Zane were slowly being defeated with no problem

Explosive Black Powder
Most people do not know that we have tunnels underground, or that tunnels inside of rocks for us
to travel through. We use explosives to blast holes into solid areas we need to go through.
Explosives explode because they are made of materials that burn or break down very quickly,
producing a lot of heat and gas. (Wood, 2014). Usually explosives are made with a material called
a detonator, with another layer over it. A detonator is simply used for exploding a device. The
detonator makes a quick chemical reaction in the material that explodes. A chemical reaction is an
action that changes the energy and structure in the content of chemicals. Without a chemical

The population of English learners (ELs) is increasing dramatically and teachers need to learn how
to advocate for these often marginalized students. As Darling Hammond suggests, such courses
give teachers the ability to see beyond one s own perspective and to put oneself into the shoes of
the shoes of the learner (Darling Hammond, 2000).
The English as a Second Language (ESL) program, which the class I observed is a part of,
targeted students who wish to expand their English for communication, study, or pleasure. English
Language Learners (ELL) students include sophomores, junior and senior s high school students
and there are six levels of instruction, from mid beginning to advanced. Classes have an average
of 11 or 12 students and there are four main focuses in the ELL Courses: listening speaking,
reading discussion, writing, and grammar idioms. As far as admissions to the class, it is
recommended that a student knows at least some English vocabulary before enrolling.
As far as the instructor s overall goals for the class, she has many. She strives for her students to
improve their writing fluency, writing accuracy, the ability to use the writing process as a writing
tool, the ability to use English sentence structure, the ability to write unified, coherent, and
developed paragraphs, the ability to use a word processor and to expand vocabulary. A couple

Passover Tradition
Using Christ s last Passover meal, where He introduced the first instance of what is now the Lord
s Supper, as an example, we see that since AD 30 it has continued to evolve into a tradition that no
longer closely resembles the original one of 1446 B.C. Today, the holiday is becoming even more
individualistic, while still holding traditional values. Likewise, the Christian Communion has
changed considerably. For years it was observed, like the one in the Upper Room following Jesus
resurrection. Then when the Church began to move out of people s homes and into buildings, the
meal was discontinued. Today, in some Christian faiths, there is tremendous ritual and rules. In

Quite often the only aspect of the ritual that resembles the first is the quoting of the Scripture. Yet,
that is rather remarkable considering the historical timeline of the Christian faith through centuries
of changes.
The exegesis of this passage brings to light many important principles. First, the tradition of
Passover is nearly 3500 years old. Through devout practitioners, certain elements of the tradition
have continued against all odds, especially the recounting of historic events and the focus on hope
and thanksgiving. Second, the tradition of remembering Jesus sacrifice on the cross through
thanksgiving, breaking bread and drinking of the cup has continued for over 2000 years. Readings
from Scripture, whether from Matthew, Mark, Luke, John or 1 Corinthians, keeps the tradition
alive. It is a reminder of deliverance from sin and death and the promise of eternal salvation. Third,
it is suggested that Jesus will at some point again eat of the Passover meal, although it is uncertain
if that is literal, figurative or both. This speaks to the Jewish Christian that the Passover observance
is not to be discontinued. Fourth, it begs the question: Were the

Preparing A Yield Of Tert Butylchloride Through A...
Objective The objective of the experiment was to prepare a yield of tert butylchloride through a

Butyl Chloride A test tube was acquired, and 7 mL of concentrated HCl were added to this test
tube through a graduated cylinder, this was done in the fume hood in order to avoid any
noxious fumes from the sample, which were observed when pouring in the concentrated HCl.
After adding the HCl, a glass pipet was used to add 2.5 mL of tert butyl alcohol to the test tube.
It was observed that the alcohol and HCl separated into two layers distinct layers. The solution
was mixed by using the pipet to take the bottom layer and squirt it onto the top, this mixing
process was performed for 15 minutes to allow the solutions to mix well. Afterwards, the lower
aqueous layer of the test tube was removed with the pipet; it was imperative to remove as much
of the lower layer as possible without removing too much from the top layer. The solution was
then washed with water by pouring 2.5 mL of water into the test tube, letting it sit for about a
minute and then removing the aqueous layer again, in order to help the mechanism for this
process. Additionally, about 2.5 mL of sodium bicarbonate 5% were also added to he test tube,

Ultrasound imaging is one of the popular, cheapest and noninvasive medical scans. During the
time of image acquisition, there is distortion of the quality of image in the form of speckle noise.
Now a day, many researches made various experiments to enhance the quality of medical image.
But still there is scope to enhance the image. In the proposed method, finding out the seed pixel
randomly is basic issue, is treated as an optimizationproblem, it can be solved by Particle swarm
optimization. Using particle swarm optimization algorithm , the fitness function can give us
appropriate seed pixel for required ultrasound imaging .In this paper, a novel method wherein
segmentation will be applied on the filtered image i.e fuzzy filter. Fuzzy filter basically work on
fuzzy rules to detect on different gradient and then filtering the noisy , homogenous and edge
region. The proposed method has been tested on different images, and the experimental results
demonstrate its effectiveness.
Keywords PSO Particle swarm optimization, basic gradient ,fuzzy filter, global best, local best.
Introduction
Ultrasound imaging has been considered as one of the most powerful techniques for imaging
organs and soft tissue structures in the human body. However, the presence of random speckle
noise makes human interpretation and computer aided ultrasound image diagnosis a highly difficult
task. Thus it is necessary that we remove speckle noise from the images before they are processed
further.

Essay Layering Internet Model
There are three parts to this assignment relating to each lecture in Module 1.
Part 1: Layering and the Internet Model
Imagine that a technology organization has been in business for decades, and that the organization
developed its own method of computer to computer communication. Because this method of
communication only occurs within this organization, it is not layered, but rather is designed to
operate as quickly and efficiently as possible on the custom hardware by using the least amount of
overhead possible. The organization continues to create its own communication hardware and
software that works with modern computers, but the CTO of the organization is considering
replacing this custom communication solution with the adoption ... Show more content on

Thus Cost will be reduced as there will be many vendors offering the products at different layers.
Competition and compatibility of the products will be more, which will in turn reduce the cost.
Topic 2: The Disadvantages of a Layered Model
Identify and describe the disadvantages of a layered solution when compared to the organization s
non layered solution.
1.The processing and data overhead because for any communication to take place it has to go
through all 5 layers (internet model ) and 7 layers for OSI model.
2. The data overhead as it adds headers at each layer as the datagram moves down the stack. Thus
part of bandwidth is used for the protocol headers instead of message/data.
3. Addition of headers at each layer also increases the computation overhead.
Topic 3: The Layers of the Internet Model
Identify the layers of the Internet Model, and explain what functionality each layer would provide
for the organization, if adopted.
Layers of the Internet Model :
1. The Physical Layer 2. The Data link layer 3. The Network layer 4. The Transport layer 5. The
Application layer
Physical layer : The Physical layer is the lowest layer of the internet model and is concerned with
the transmission and reception of the unstructured raw bit stream. It describes the electrical/optical,
mechanical, and functional interfaces to the physical medium, and carries the signals for all of

Rhyolite History
The 19th century saw a construction and population boom in North America, as a result of the
California Gold Rush and the flourishing of the mining industry all over the United States, which
drew new settlers from Europe, Latin America and Asia. Once the gold and coal resources dried up,
many of these newly found, remote towns emptied out, as its inhabitants moved to larger areas
looking for new opportunities. These are some of the coolest ghost towns that still stand within
American territory.
Number Seven: Bodie, California
Prospector W.S. Body founded Bodie in 1859 in California, close to the Nevada border, after
finding gold reserves in the area. At the peak of the Gold Rush, Bodie had a population of 10,000.
By 1950, the town was completely deserted. Nowadays, it remains a popular ... Show more content

Rhyolite had everything a developed city needs: a city hall, a hospital, a school, an opera house,
water mains and electricity. During the early 20s, everyone fled the town.
Number Two: Goldfield, Arizona
The once thriving gold mining town died around 1989, only to reborn and die again a few times
later. Goldfield, located against the dramatic Superstition Mountains, is one of the most scenic and
cinematic Old West towns in the U.S. Year round exhibits and re enactments are offered to groups
of visitors.
Number One: Calico, California
Calico is now the most popular ghost town in the United States. Located in the Mojave Desert,
between Los Angeles and Las Vegas, Calico is an abandoned Old West silver mining town
founded around 1881. In the 1950s, the forsaken village was restored to look more like a
prototypical Western themed town, and was later named a California National Landmark. The
park is open every day (except for Christmas day) and requires tourists to pay an entrance fee.
Camping sites and rental cabins are also offered. Thanks for

Let Us Now Praise Famous Men Essay
Let Us Now Praise Famous Men
Let Us Now Praise Famous Men, was written by James Agee and Walker Evans. The story is about
three white families of tenant farmers in rural Alabama. The photographs in the beginning have no
captions or quotations. They are just images of three tenant farming families, their houses, and
possessions. The photographs are not illustrative. They, and the text, are coequal, mutually
independent, and fully collaborative. (87) The story and the photographs contain relationships
between them; in the essay I am going to inform you about the interpretations of the relationships
between the readings of James Agee and some of the pictures by Walker Evans. ... Show more

This oil is not all oleaginous, but thin, brittle, rusty feeling, and sharp; taken and rubbed between
forefinger and thumb it so cleanses their grain that it sharpens their mutual touch to a new coin

In the picture on page (31) you see a small, wooden room, in the middle of this room is a sturdy
table with a peculiar tablecloth upon it; on this sturdy table is a small, glass, oil burning lamp. The
lamp s oil, interpreted to be their lives, hopes, and dreams. This oil is either half full or half
empty; surely I believe it is half full. In the reading, the lamp s oil signifies life, hope, security and
safety. James Agee places these things at the center of the family s existence. This shows that the
author of The Country Letter places high respect towards these aspects in life. Their goals were to
live life to the fullest, no one else, but themselves could make them happy.
Of such ultimate, such holiness of silence and peace that all on earth and within extremest
remembrance seems suspended upon it in perfection as upon reflected water: and I feel that if I can
by utter quietness succeed in not disturbing this silence, in not so much as touching this plain of
water, I can tell you anything within the realm of God. (104)
This quotation signifies the belief that James Agee is cradling something so perfect and delicate
that just by whispering its existence, he may just shatter the beauty. In the

Essay On Texas Political Culture
Over the years up until the 1990 s, Texas politics were dominated by the Democratic Party. It is not
until later that the Republican Party grew into publicity and became prominent. This happened after
the Reconstruction that saw Democratic Party seize to be the dominant electoral party in Texas.
This essay focuses on the political culture and the current political environment and in Texas and
contemporary issues affecting the political status. It also describes the causal effect of policies
enacted on the political stand.
Three philosophical streams constitute the political ideology and culture. These are social
conservatism, populism, and classical liberalism. The three describe the philosophical, political
composition of Texas. Social conservatives support the used of government to foster traditional
social relations. In this regards, they tend to uphold established traditions such as religious beliefs
and established practices. More so, they respect traditional authority figures such as religious,
business and religious leaders. Social conservatism was initially associated with Republican Party
but has gained precedence in the Democratic Party as well.
On the other hand, populism is concerned with the welfare of the people. It embraces the popular
will as the key ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is worth noting that is so as long as the liberties of others are not restricted. It is from this
perspective that the basis for opposition is viable as opposed to the use of government to attain
social objectives. Classical liberalism focuses on private initiatives or the free market to guide
and foster the best outcomes. From history, classical liberalism has fueled support for religious
and civil liberties. Classical liberalism can be rather viewed as an embrace of an individual s right
to do his or her own thing. However, this philosophical aspect has been tempered by the enduring

Phantom Limb Pain
Furthermore phantom limb pain is simply a sensation of pain. A patient experiences the pain in an
affected extremity that no longer exists (McCance Huether). Although nerve fibers have the
capability to regenerate this is a time consuming process that does not always yield a fully
functional nerve (Subedi Grossberg, 2011).
Nociceptors are free nerve endings in the afferent peripheral nervous system (PNS) that selectively
respond to different stimuli. The differences are related to the stimulus which they respond to and
the properties of the nerve fibers associated with them. There are three types A, B and C groups
based on their diameter. There are numerous types of nerve fibers that have nociceptors. These are

Benefits Of Investing A Mutual Fund
!!!What Are Mutual Funds?
Before we go over when to buy and sell a mutual fund, let s discuss exactly what a mutual fund is.
A __mutual fund__ is simply a pool of money from different people like you; it is professionally
managed with the purpose of investing in different securities. The business or bank that manages a
mutual fund and attempt to produce income for investors is referred to as a __money manager__.
Since mutual funds are professionally managed, they are ideal for a person who has very little
knowledge of investing.
There are several advantages of investing in a mutual fund. The biggest advantage is the
diversification it offers. One mutual fund might invest in stocks of large companies and others may
invest in U.S. Treasury bills. Whatever the mutual fund offered by the bank is investing in, each
investor in the fund shares in the fund s gains or losses. It is important to remember that mutual
funds are not stocks, they are portfolios of things like stocks and bonds.
!!!Choosing A Mutual Fund
In business or even in life, the quality of management plays a direct role on the success of the
venture. The quality of management offered for a mutual fund is no different. In the investment
world, mutual funds are either actively managed or indexed. __Actively managed funds__ uses
more human capital to actively manage a fund s portfolio, they use expertise and research to
determine what securities to buy or sell. __Indexed funds__ are the opposite of active,

Interest Rate And Interest Rates
1.1 Background of the Study Interest rate is the amount of interest due per period, as a proportion
of the amount lent, deposited or borrowed (called the principal sum). The total interest on an
amount lent or borrowed depends on the principal sum, the interest rate, the compounding
frequency, and the length of time over which it is lent, deposited or borrowed (Wikipedia). Interest
rate as policy instrument can be used to foster meaningful macroeconomic stability, the rate of
interest exacts its influence on the macro economy by transmitting through savings, investment,

The country s agricultural products is divided into two main groups: food crops and cash crops
produced for home consumption and exports. The special interest of Government in the
Agricultural sector is due to its relevance in the provision of raw materials for industries and most
importantly the provision of food for the teaming population of Nigeria. (Akiri and Adofu 2007).
Basically, agriculture provides 65% employment opportunities for the population to reduce poverty
and contributes to the growth of the economy (Okoro, 2011). The development of agriculture in
Nigeria has been slow despite the various agricultural policies. In fact, the government recognized
the unhealthy condition(such as lack of access to technology, lack of access to farm inputs, lack of
financial empowerment, high risk etc.) of Nigerian agricultural sector since 1970, and has
formulated and introduced a number of programmes and strategies aimed at resolving this situation.
These measures includes, introduction of scheme such as the River Basin Development Authority
(1979), National Accelerated Food Production (NAFP) was introduced in 1972, Operation Feed the

How and to what purpose does Virgil use ekphrasis in the Aeneid?
Virgil s use of ekphrasis in the Aeneid has attracted much attention by classical scholars; as such
the coverage on this topic is extensive. This essay therefore does not aim to purport all of Virgil s
techniques and aims in regard to describing art in the Aeneid a subject on which entire books have
been written rather the brevity of this essay necessitates an overview of the predominant theories,
whilst attempting to shed light on some of the less well noted observances. Where it is more
informative the original Latin text will be employed. West s translation will be used everywhere

The to and fro nature of the tides of war episodes look forward to the battles that swing back and
forth in favour of the opposing armies.24 The slaughter by Diomedes of Rhesus and his men,
adopted from Iliad 10, foreshadows the night raid of Nisus and Eurylaus in Book 9. The
description also relates to the later narrative through repetitious diction. For instance cruentus
here describes Diomedes;25 later when Nisus, like the Iliadic Diomedes is described as a lion,26 he
has an ore cruento .27 The essence of the tragic downfall in Book 9 is caused by Euryalus greed.
This is described as prodidit ,28 the same language used to describe the sleep that was prodita to
Rhesus and his men.29 In this way Virgilforeshadows events in the Italian war, not just through

Elmer Keith Argumentative Essay
The gun world is full of personalities, both the genuine and the two bit knockoff. Elmer Keith most
certainly fell into the former and probably made the latter as jittery as lambs during docking season.
Typically pictured with six shooters in his hands, a large Stetson on his head and a well chewed
cigar between his teeth, he seemed like the American Spirit come to life. But under his homespun
exterior ticked a thinking man, particularly on the subject of guns. A fella doesn t produce more
than a half century of articles for the top gun publications in the country and a mountain of books
purely off of Western charm. Or they didn t in Keith s day.

Gone With The Wind Analysis
Gone with the Wind opens with beautiful shots of the Georgian countryside, accompanied by
sweeping romantic music and the sentiment rolling down the screen: There was a land of
Cavaliers and Cotton Fields called the Old South. Here in this pretty world, Gallantry took its
last bow. Here was the last ever to be seen of Knights and their Ladies Fair, of Master and of
Slave. Look for it only in books, for it is no more than a dream remembered, a Civilization gone
with the wind (Selznick) The film explicitly describes its objectives before the audience even sees
the famous Scarlett O Hara. Nostalgia for this old Southern way of life is palpable throughout the
entirety of the film and we see an alternate world portraying benevolent white slaveholders, their
complacent, jolly slaves, and the noble Cause of the confederacy they tirelessly fought for.
However, when viewed in the modern context, this illusion of the South is easily broken and the
historical inaccuracies become evident underneath the appearance of Southern romanticism.
Though Gone with the Wind romanticizes slaveryand the Old South and glosses over racial issues,
it represents an important part of American history in its portrayal of white southern attitudes
during the civil war.
Gone with the Wind is so broadly interpreted, which makes it is very difficult to say that this film
focuses on one specific aspect of Southern life . From watching the film it is very clear that the
southern pride and way of life is

Contrasting Themes In David Lynch s Film Blue Velvet
Contrasting Themes in Blue Velvet
The subconscious psyche is one of the most fascinating and almost completely inexplicable aspects
of human behavior. Even more intriguing than merely the subconscious is the notion of a darker,
more repressed side that many individuals refuse to acknowledge exists within them. In David
Lynch s film Blue Velvet, the director attempts to explore the psyche of a young man named
Jeffrey Beaumont, most notably the clash between his darker side and good side for the first time
in his life. Using themes that sharply contrast one another, Lynch provides insight into the
character of Jeffrey and the struggle that he is faced with. Jeffrey is in a transitional period of his
life, not very old, and is on a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The gun on the television is in direct contrast to what has been taking place visually up to this
point. The mise en scene has been depicting an idealized American town, and yet the image of a
gun is used as an allusion to something more sinister lurking within the town, with the interior of
Jeffrey s house perhaps representing the inner sanctum of Jeffrey s subconscious. From here, Lynch
cuts back to the long shot of Jeffrey s father watering the lawn, followed by a close up of the faucet
where the hose is connected. Suddenly, the cuts are very rapid and the camera cuts between
close ups of the hose, the faucet, and Jeffrey s father, who eventually keels over in an apparent
stroke. This is followed by a long shot of a dog attempting to bite the water spraying out of the
hose, with a cut to a close up of the dog doing this behavior in slow motion. Slowly, the non
digetic sound of Blue Velvet fades out, giving way to an unintelligible and faint sound which
appears to be non digetic as well. However, the camera zooms into an extreme close up of the grass
and tracks through the grass as well, with the unintelligible noise increasing in volume. The shot
then dissolves to reveal an entire population of cockroaches infesting the soil, and what had
previously been non digetic sound has now become the loud, digetic sound of the insects
movement. Immediately, there is a cut to an establishing

The Reasons for acquiring the 12 urban stations from Clear Channel could be the following: Bigger African AmericanBase: It would draw more African American listeners than any other radio broadcaster and cover more African American households than any other media vehicle targeting the audience. • 4. Stereotactic Radiosurgery Stereotactic radiosurgery works the same as all other forms of radiation treatment. It does not remove the tumor or lesion, but is distorts the DNA of the tumor cells. The cells then lose their ability to reproduce and retain fluids. The tumor reduction occurs at the rate of normal growth for the specific tumorcell. In lesions such as AVMs (a tangle of blood vessels in the brain), radiosurgery causes the blood vessels to thicken and close off. The shrinking of a tumor or closing off of a vessel occurs over a period of time. For benign tumors and vessels, this will usually be 18 months to two years. For malignant or metastatic tumors, results may be seen in a few months, because these cells are very fast growing. Pinpoint accuracy is critical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Kanye West Jesus Walks Lyrics Analysis Jesus Walks is a rap song by the artist Kanye West, and the song could be considered a progressive rap song. Because throughout the lyrics he addresses the crime acts done in Chicago, and the different types of wars we are facing here in America. He says in the beginning of the song We at war with terrorism, racism, but most of all we at war with ourselves then the next verse he expresses some acts of crimes performed in the streets. As the express acts of racism, and terrorism or acts of protest during the music video, also towards the end of the music video it shows a member of the KKK building his cross that he sets on fire at the end of the video. But the religious side of both the song and music video are quite interesting. If you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Positive Change In Food Waste Levels Over the course of the last 47 years our level of wasted food has increased by 40% meaning that we throw away one third of our food. This problem is also more devastating than most people realize. We waste billions of dollars of food and the amount of food that just the united states wastes in one year could fill 730 football stadiums. This food wastealso is hurting the environment in a major way, increasing our CO2 levels exponentially. All of this food that we waste could be going to serving the homeless and starving. The best way to start to make positive change in food waste levels is to begin to recognize the problem, spread awareness for the environmental damage it does, and to start to implement policies that give small businesses... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even if people understood that food would still not get to people who need it because getting the food to the hungry and to shelters and the poor is not cheap for the suppliers and is actually cheaper for them to just throw it away. That might be the biggest issue of all because for businesses to donate food is very expensive, they have to box it, store it, coordinate delivery dates, and there s a lot of overheads, and you cannot blame most companies for trying to make ends meat. Companies are also not charities, which is why companies should be incentivized to donate food with tax breaks, large corporations already get one, charity s get them and it would increase the amount of food that s being donated exponentially. Especially for small companies because annoyingly small companies tax breaks are not a permanent part of the tax code. This means that Congress has to keep renewing it which is a problem, because family farms and local restaurants may not know if they re going to get that break and the end of the year. So donating food might not be financially viable for them. IT s a ridiculous system that prevents a lot of food from being donated. It s a widely agreed upon statement that small businesses should receive tax incentives to donate food. Once we do this it will be just one small piece of stopping this problem, and the ... • 7. The Consequences Of Space Travel And Exploration 1. Space travel and exploration have many benefits, however, there are also some possible consequences. Space travel is worth it for many reasons. Just like the ocean; space is infinite and there is another world to discover so to speak. There are so many things that we don t know about the ocean and space. For one, space is a mystery containing several artifacts, entities, and possible species that could have the ability to open doors to a whole new universe. There could potentially be life on another planet or even a planet similar to earth that can support life. However, mankind will never know unless we opt to explore the kingdom of space. 2. Reasons why some naysayers believe there shouldn t be more space travel is the cost. It costs $500 $700 million every time a space shuttle flies. Additionally, it costs space tourists $20 million to fly to the space station. Some will ask why spend money on space exploration when there are so many other things that should take precedence. The Global Positioning System (GPS) was built in 1978 which cost $12 billion to build it. The Galileo which is Europe s GPS has an estimated cost of $6.3 billion. The Apollo Space Program started in 1961 1972, and the total cost of the program was $109 billion. As you can see, space travel is extremely expensive. In addition to the costs of the programs and the shuttles, is the salary that is paid to the Astronauts. In 1969 Neil Armstrong was paid $20,000 for his trip to space. In 2012 Astronauts were paid $125,000 for their trip to space so the cost has increased immensely. 3. Another possible reason that people don t agree with space exploration is that if there are alien lifeforms, there might be a chance that they will try to harm the human species. The famed physicist Stephen Hawking is one who believes this to be the case. This is what he had to say on the topic: Such advanced aliens would perhaps become nomads, looking to conquer and colonize whatever planets they could reach. This statement was mentioned in 2010 on an episode of Into the Universe with Stephen Hawking. He also stated that Alien civilization would have no problem wiping out the human race the way a human might wipe out a colony of ants. We ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Transport Sector Transport Project Agenda Transport Sector Current Constraints Project objectives Expressway No. 1 Component: 1. Component Objectives 2. Scope of the project 3. Road data and economic analysis Expected Project outcomes Project Financing Transport Sector Current Constraints Inadequate infrastructure to support transport and trade movement along the main transport and trade corridors. According to SCRB, 80 per cent of the existing roads in Iraq are in bad condition and require immediate attention. The roads serving the East West Corridors, leading to its western borders (Abu Kamal, Al Tanf and Al Karama) suffered significant damage during the last decade due to war and maintenance delays. These roads lack capacity and axle load control for the projected increase in trade as the country reconstructs its economy. The road north from Um Qasr to Baghdad lacks capacity for the projected traffic through this corridor and is in need of rehabilitation and maintenance. From the North side, there are about 3,000 heavy trucks entering Iraq daily from Turkey through Ibrahim El Khalil border crossing and these trucks currently use the mountainous, 2 lane, windy and dangerous road through Zakho to reach Duhok and the rest of Iraq causing about 0.5 fatalities per km, an unacceptable risk. There is urgent need therefore to direct this heavy traffic through a safer route to reach Duhok on its way to Erbil and the rest of Iraq. Although accurate data are not available, ... • 9. An Efficient Way Transmit Codes Throughout time the need for an efficient way transmit codes were essential to success, after World War I and into the start of World War II American forces was running out of ideas for codes. The USA had always used the white s soldiers for the code talkers because there were easy to train, and a abundance of them to choose making them the practice choose for code talkers. Until Philip Johnston, he was an initiator that worked for a Marine Corps program. As a kid and into his teens he grew up on a Navajo reservation and his dad was a missionary. Whit all the time that Johnston spent of the reservation he became familiar with the people and their language. With the use of the Navajos it grained equality for Native Americans which was not found in the late 1800 s, and soon it gained them a greater respect by the whites into today s age. In the late 1800 s Indians were seen through the eyes of the settlers as pests, people who occupy the land that rightfully belonged to the whites. They were thought of as savages. However this was not true, the Navajo Indians and many other tribes were only willing to fight for their land, families and the property that they have inhabited for hundreds of years (Robert A. Roessel, 1). In this time of lack of control, Navajos were overpowered by Americans who were in position of authority and control. This is because Americans lacked the understanding of the Navajo way, leading to be fatal for many as they were being transferred, resigned, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Personal gain can mean monetary payment or any other type of benefit. Corruption is not a new or uncommon obstacle facing the police departments. The problem goes far back as the forming of the organized policeforces. Police corruption is a problem that hurts both the police organization and the society. Since its beginning many aspects of policing has changed; however, one aspect that has remained unchanged is the corruption within the police departments. But the scandal started revealing later in 1999 after Perez made a deal with prosecutors under which he pled guilty to cocaine theft and agreed to provide prosecutors with wrongdoing in the Rampart CRASH unit. Perez worked with investigators over the next year, providing over 4,000 pages of interrogation transcripts. Perez s testimony revealed police corruption on an unimagined scale, implicating police officers in wrongful killings, indiscriminate beatings and violence, theft, and drug dealing. Perez s testimony also implicated dozens of police officers in systematic acts of dishonest law enforcement, exposing hundreds of instances in which evidence or contraband was planted on suspects, false statements were coerced or fabricated, and police officers offered perjured testimony in court. Perez s confessions prompted the LAPD to re name its investigative task force the Rampart Task Force . The Task Force was charged with corroborating Perez s allegations of corruption within Rampart CRASH. What followed was, in the words of one independent commission, one of the worst police scandals in American history. Ultimately, the District Attorney was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Lesson 1 Lab Essay 1. (10 points) Write out your pre lab prediction, including what evidence or previous knowledge you have to support that prediction. Answer below: Things rising and setting give the appearance of something rising or setting. In reality objects like the Sun or Moon aren t physically rising from the horizon. Most of the motions we see in the sky are caused by the Earth s motion, both its rotation and orbital motion. So all of the motions described below are really apparent motions and not really an indication of how things are actually moving, but how they appear to move. 2. • 13. Two Reasons Why Mother Teresa Is A Hero Attention Grabbing Device Imagine people everywhere, lining alleyways. Homeless families begging for food and diseases running rampant on the streets. These are the slums of Calcutta, India. Life in this city is miserable, desperation pervades this hopeless environment. But within there s still some optimism to be found. Strangely enough, it comes in the form of a woman, barely five feet tall, and armed with nothing but kindness. Thesis Mother Teresa is a hero because she is selfless, courageous, and has strong leadership abilities. Bio Mother Teresa was born in Skopje, Macedonia in 1910. At the age of 18 she joined a group of nuns in Ireland. After months of training with the Sisters of Loreto, she traveled to India. She took her religious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mother Teresa gave up everything just to help those less fortunate. For example, in 1979 she won a Nobel Peace Prize with $192,000 worth of prize money and instead of keeping she used it to create multiple homes for victims of leprosy. She was commemorated with the highest honor, yet she was still thinking of others. The second reason Mother Teresa is a hero is because she is courageous. For instance, many people could have shunned her for helping the unwanted, but she found the courage and strength in her heart to help those in need. Also, she helped a particular group that had leprosy, which is a very contagious disease. She set up many clinics in order to help these people even though she put herself at risk of catching the disease. The final reason Mother Teresa is a hero is because she was a strong leader. This trait can be exemplified because she had a relentless focus on her mission helping the poor. She effectively implemented her plan and cared for the people of Calcutta. Mother Teresa was a situational leader, for example she helped people according to their situation, if they were starving she would give them food, if they were homeless she would provide a home for them to say at, or if they were sick she helped them to heal. • 14. Analysis of the State of the New Media Art The article is an analysis of the state of the new media art. The new media uses digital communication to express its artwork and Muir (2002) choses certain works as illustrative examples of their format. Their spectrum was so called old, middle aged and modern digital art that spanned the 19th century to the present moment. Their first example was June Paik s magnet TV 91965). Paik integrated music, video,a nd sculptural forms of objects in order to convey modern relationship to TV. Intending to convey the omnipotence of TV, Paik s aforementioned sculpture consisted of a large magnet on top of a television set. The magnet was manipulated by hand to create abstract patterns of light inside the monitor. The work was deliberately constructed in a simple way so as to arouse discussion and thought regarding the all powerful influence and, some would say, insidiousness, of TV. Nicholas Schoffer is called the Father of Cybernetics and Video Art. He is another example of creators of media Art. Schoffer s sculptures combining electronics with sculpture included his 52 meter high cybernetics Tower of Liege , which consisted of mirrors, projectors, microphones, and photoelectric cells. Schoeffer also produced Microtine Sculptures (1968 1969) that was composed of discs and manipulated by electronics to produce pulsating light. Robert Adrian s work was in telecommunication. Whatever it may be, some people attempt to dodge any sort of negativity. The topic of my independent novel serves to not only challenge the idea of avoiding any kind of depressing news, but to bring light to new ways of thinking that humanity should adopt should we want to understand the roots of crime. Furthermore, we should use our knowledge of these roots to prevent crime. On a hot July day in 1965, Gertrude Baniszewski was living on the edge. Paula broke her wrist slugging Sylvia in the jaw and subsequently went to church and bragged about it. The Likens parents came to visit the girls between fairs, and they saw nothing out of the visits. Later still, Sylvia was accused of spreading rumors that Paula and Stephanie Baniszewski were prostitutes at Arsenal Technical High School. This provoked Stephanie s boyfriend, Coy Hubbard to flip Sylvia onto the floor and bang her head against the wall. Gertrude encouraged other neighborhood children floating in and out of the house to flip Sylvia and burn her with cigarettes. Torture became the neighborhood game. What served as Gertrude s pretense for keeping Sylvia out of school is the alleged theft of a gym suit. Soon after, Sylvia became incontinent, and Gertrude locked her in the basement. A bathing regime came into action; every other day, Sylvia was burned with scalding water. She was starved and often kept naked. Grosser indignities were to follow, with Gertrude continuing to authorize Sylvia s torture carried out by the neighborhood children. Quotations In Julius Caesar, Mark Twain, And John Lennon We see the quotations everywhere: Sometimes we have to fall apart so better things can fall together, attributed to Marilyn Monroe, Be the change you want to see in the world, attributed to Gandhi, and If I knew that I had eight hours to chop a tree down, I would spend the first six sharpening my axe, attributed to Abraham Lincoln. These quotations are on Facebook profiles, in pop songs, in school books, and in modern bestsellers. Julius Caesar, Mark Twain, and John Lennon are some of the more common characters who are often referred to as some of the greatest word smiths of all time. The problem is that many of the quotations have been tampered with and altered throughout history. Food fuels the body and without fuel, it is more difficult for many individuals to carry out tasks and focus. Between 6 72 hours without eating, the human body enters a state called ketosis as it begins to fast or starve. Because there is now very little glucose in the blood stream, one s body must then begin to break down fat for energy which is broken down into fatty acids. Even fewer people give thought to the impact that the lack of refineries has on oil producing states, and/or oil rich nations. This research paper examines the current status of the refining industry, the domestic and global locations of oil refineries, the impact of the aging domestic refineries, as well as considering if/where the U.S. should build new refineries to keep up with the growing demand. An analytical look into the status of the refining industry reveals that this billion dollar industry is relying on aging refineries, why refineries are located where they are and the impact that not having a refinery has on both oil producing states (in America) and on oil rich nations around the globe. Oil refineries are dispersed throughout the world and throughout the United States, but what makes one location better suited for a refinery than another? Many refineries are located close to crude oil production centers such as the Gulf Coast (which has significant volumes of crude oil produced both onshore and offshore); near destinations for importing crude oil; or near major population centers where much of the refineries output will be needed (e.g., California and the areas near ... For example, if an asset such as capital is used for one purpose, the opportunity cost is the value of the next best purpose the asset could have been used for (Web Finance, Inc., 2007). Opportunity cost can also be referred to as rate of return. A rate of return is the total income per period per dollar invested (Brealey, Myers Marcus, 2003). To do this the formula i = ( FV / PV) (1/n) 1 can be used (Getobjects.com, 2004). Opportunity cost is the benefit or cash flow forgone as a result of an action (Brealey, Myers Marcus, 2003). An annuity is a sequence of equally spaced levels of cash flows (Brealey, Myers Marcus, 2003). Some examples are car payments, loans, mortgages, or utilities. Annuities can be set monthly, bi monthly, weekly, quarterly or annually. The payments or receipts occur at the end of each period for an ordinary annuity while they occur at the beginning of each period for an annuity due (Getobjects.com, 2004). Organisational Culture And Organizational Culture Organisational culture refers to the shared beliefs and values guiding the thinking and behavioural styles of members (Cooke and Rousseau, 1988, in Bratton 2010: 334), indicating that employees who accept the common values of an organisation and put great effort on commitments are likely to build up a strong culture to an organisation. Edgar Schein (2004) proposed three levels of organisational culture. As employees go through changes, they gain experiences from the past, adapt to a new environment and develop ability to solve problem. The first level is artefacts, which include all visible characteristics of an organisation, for instance, the architectures/furniture in the office, uniforms of employees and language. These are the observable elements of an organisational culture and might influence the way and attitude of how the employees work. The second level is espoused values in which the influence patterns of observable behaviour at work can be recognised. Each member will impose dominant values and rules of conduct about the culture and these affect employees certainty to work under a particular area. The perceived value that can demonstrate reliability and be scientifically tested will be transformed into assumption. We use explosives to blast holes into solid areas we need to go through. Explosives explode because they are made of materials that burn or break down very quickly, producing a lot of heat and gas. (Wood, 2014). Usually explosives are made with a material called a detonator, with another layer over it. A detonator is simply used for exploding a device. The detonator makes a quick chemical reaction in the material that explodes. A chemical reaction is an action that changes the energy and structure in the content of chemicals. The instructor, Catherine Cunningham, granted me permission to observe her Writing Class which meets M/W/F from 9:00am 3:00pm during the summer timeframe. Since I currently not do not have any teaching experience in the classroom yet, this was an opportunity to observe how an experience teacher of 25 plus years conducted her class. As Darling Hammond suggests, such courses give teachers the ability to see beyond one s own perspective and to put oneself into the shoes of the shoes of the learner (Darling Hammond, 2000). The English as a Second Language (ESL) program, which the class I observed is a part of, targeted students who wish to expand their English for communication, study, or pleasure. English Language Learners (ELL) students include sophomores, junior and senior s high school students and there are six levels of instruction, from mid beginning to advanced. Classes have an average of 11 or 12 students and there are four main focuses in the ELL Courses: listening speaking, reading discussion, writing, and grammar idioms. As far as admissions to the class, it is recommended that a student knows at least some English vocabulary before enrolling. As far as the instructor s overall goals for the class, she has many. She strives for her students to improve their writing fluency, writing accuracy, the ability to use the writing process as a writing tool, the ability to use English sentence structure, the ability to write unified, coherent, and developed paragraphs, the ability to use a word processor and to expand vocabulary. Passover Tradition Using Christ s last Passover meal, where He introduced the first instance of what is now the Lord s Supper, as an example, we see that since AD 30 it has continued to evolve into a tradition that no longer closely resembles the original one of 1446 B.C. Today, the holiday is becoming even more individualistic, while still holding traditional values. Likewise, the Christian Communion has changed considerably. For years it was observed, like the one in the Upper Room following Jesus resurrection. Then when the Church began to move out of people s homes and into buildings, the meal was discontinued. Today, in some Christian faiths, there is tremendous ritual and rules. In others, it is very informal. Communion elements in prepackaged individually... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Quite often the only aspect of the ritual that resembles the first is the quoting of the Scripture. Yet, that is rather remarkable considering the historical timeline of the Christian faith through centuries of changes. The exegesis of this passage brings to light many important principles. First, the tradition of Passover is nearly 3500 years old. Through devout practitioners, certain elements of the tradition have continued against all odds, especially the recounting of historic events and the focus on hope and thanksgiving. Second, the tradition of remembering Jesus sacrifice on the cross through thanksgiving, breaking bread and drinking of the cup has continued for over 2000 years. Readings from Scripture, whether from Matthew, Mark, Luke, John or 1 Corinthians, keeps the tradition alive. It is a reminder of deliverance from sin and death and the promise of eternal salvation. Third, it is suggested that Jesus will at some point again eat of the Passover meal, although it is uncertain if that is literal, figurative or both. This speaks to the Jewish Christian that the Passover observance is not to be discontinued. Fourth, it begs the question: Were the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Objective The objective of the experiment was to prepare a yield of tert butylchloride through a unimolecular (SN1) nucleophilic substitution reaction. Procedure Part A Preparation of tert Butyl Chloride A test tube was acquired, and 7 mL of concentrated HCl were added to this test tube through a graduated cylinder, this was done in the fume hood in order to avoid any noxious fumes from the sample, which were observed when pouring in the concentrated HCl. After adding the HCl, a glass pipet was used to add 2.5 mL of tert butyl alcohol to the test tube. It was observed that the alcohol and HCl separated into two layers distinct layers. The solution was mixed by using the pipet to take the bottom layer and squirt it onto the top, this mixing process was performed for 15 minutes to allow the solutions to mix well. Afterwards, the lower aqueous layer of the test tube was removed with the pipet; it was imperative to remove as much of the lower layer as possible without removing too much from the top layer. The solution was then washed with water by pouring 2.5 mL of water into the test tube, letting it sit for about a minute and then removing the aqueous layer again, in order to help the mechanism for this process. Additionally, about 2.5 mL of sodium bicarbonate 5% were also added to he test tube, were allowed to sit for about a minute, and then removed once again; this was done in order to remove any HCl impurities from the solution. During the time of image acquisition, there is distortion of the quality of image in the form of speckle noise. Now a day, many researches made various experiments to enhance the quality of medical image. But still there is scope to enhance the image. In the proposed method, finding out the seed pixel randomly is basic issue, is treated as an optimizationproblem, it can be solved by Particle swarm optimization. Using particle swarm optimization algorithm , the fitness function can give us appropriate seed pixel for required ultrasound imaging .In this paper, a novel method wherein segmentation will be applied on the filtered image i.e fuzzy filter. Fuzzy filter basically work on fuzzy rules to detect on different gradient and then filtering the noisy , homogenous and edge region. The proposed method has been tested on different images, and the experimental results demonstrate its effectiveness. Look for it only in books, for it is no more than a dream remembered, a Civilization gone with the wind (Selznick) The film explicitly describes its objectives before the audience even sees the famous Scarlett O Hara. However, when viewed in the modern context, this illusion of the South is easily broken and the historical inaccuracies become evident underneath the appearance of Southern romanticism.
