Similarities Between Never Let Me Go And Frankenstein
Introduction Paragraph
From past to present there is still the imminent topic of what it means to be a human. Throughout the
course of works done, there have been many great writers that explored the topic and created some
fabulous works from it. Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro and Frankenstein by Mary Shelley are
two works of literature that really explored and enlighten the readers on the idea of humanity through
other s mind. Both of these works created a controversy and makes the reader really think about what
is morally right to them about humanity. There are several disagreements and counter dictions that are
made when comparing the two works but after reading the novel and watching the film, there was a
strong focus on three main ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Frankenstein, the characters discard the creature because of his unique appearance, unique meaning
horrifying and hideous appearance. Because he looks threatening, they automatically assume that he is
incapable of feelings and emotions. They only think that he s pure evil and wants to hurt everyone. I
am alone and miserable: man will not associate with me; but one as deformed and horrible as myself
would not deny herself to me. My companion must be of the same species and have the same defects.
This being you must create (Shelley 121). Although in reality, the creature just wants someone to be
his friend and to have someone that shares the same feeling for love that he has. The rest of the society
don t actually know that the monster is truly nice but because they never gave him the chance to show
it, he lives his life miserably. In Chapter 16, the monster sees a girl drowning and goes in to save her
and when he brings her out of the water the first thing that happens is he gets shot by her guardian
who thought the monster was trying to hurt her. All he felt was rage and revenge against everyone and
Victor who rejected him. from that moment declared everlasting war against the species, and more
than all, against Victor who had formed him and sent him forth to this insupportable misery (Shelly
124). No one let him live like a free man, instead he lived miserably and alone, because of this
nonstop buildup of misery it led to the destructive behavior. In the film Never Let Me Go, the clones
are used and nurtured to grow up as donations for others. Donating their organs were the only real
choice that they had and they were brainwashed to think that there main purpose was to donate their
organs. Bu when Tommy and Kathy finally get the chance to be together and live their life to the
fullest and with each other, they try to

New York Daily News Article Analysis
The paper that is being looked at is the New York Daily News, published on the 6th of July, claiming
to have the largest circulation in the Manhattan Bronx area(ref3). The circulation is quite substantial
for the city, but doesn t spread any further within that paper. It is one of the first tabloids within the
area to have grown popularity, and in the chosen article suggests a more conservative lean, having a
strong impact on the language used within the pages of the newspaper. It seems to be more likely to be
focused on appealing for the middle class. In this article especially, there is the use of strong
homophobic language, and refusal to correctly gender those taking part in the riot, including referring
to the patrons of the bar as little girls (ref4). This brings into question the amount of seriousness this
was taken in, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the beginning of the section focused on them, Nan spoke about the fact that she disliked the paper
that they were being interviewed for, describing it as being anti fag and pro cop (ref5), giving a view
of how the community around Greenwich village and the Stonewall Inn viewed both the paper itself,
and the police force. The pair describe what they know to have happened within the building and the
questions that were asked throughout the community. All questioning the actions of the police, and
their prior motives as well. Not only do Bruce and Nan provide an understanding of how the LGBT
community generally viewed the paper, but within their search for answers, they give a strong
impression of how they view the police force, and especially how the force treated the LGBT
community in New York at the time. The couple comment about a payoff having been one of the main
reasons for the riot, suggesting the lack of effort that it took to influence that division of the police

Nighttime Fires pg. 587
Nighttime Fires
Nighttime Fires is a narrative poem written by Regina Barreca. The poet uses powerful imagery which
vividly illustrates the lasting impression made upon a girl whose father seeks satisfaction through
witnessing the destruction caused by nighttime fires. The poem creates a picture in the reader s mind
of the father s character as his grown child still remembers from when she was five years old.
Although it is obvious that the father is a victim of an economy that caused him to be without a job,
his actions are bizarre and inexcusable. The father takes his family to see fires during the night when
they are asleep. He drags his wife and his children out of bed so ... Show more content on

fires. The mother does not look at the burning house; instead, she only watches her husband. To the

Rhetorical Analysis Of Speech By Ronald Reagan
Two hundred and nine thousand. That is the number of lives that were nobly given to save the many
during the invasion of Normandy (D day and the Battle of Normandy). The courageous men and
women fought continuously for days on end, climbing the jagged cliffs of Normandy, France. Under
rifle fire from gun nests from above, the allied troops were able to take control of the coastline, but not
without great sacrifice. The speech given by Ronald Reagan was made to commemorate those who
fearlessly fought for our country and the many thousands that gave their lives during those hard days
of war. His speech had a clear message, to honor and remember those who gave and risked their lives
during the invasion of Normandy.

Reagan spoke with passion and sorrow. But he showed an appreciation and respect for those who
fought. He uses the word we very often, which unites the people and shows union. In his speech he
uses the word we 19 times to show the bond between us as a people, and as a nation. He uses
rhetorical questions asking why they served and fought till their last breath. You were young the day
you took these cliffs; some of you were hardly more than boys, with the deepest joys of life before
you. Yet, you risked everything here. Why? Why did you do it? What impelled you to put aside the
instinct for self preservation and risk your lives to take these cliffs? What inspired all the men of the
armies that met here? We look at you, and somehow we know the answer. It was faith and belief; it
was loyalty and love. (Reagan). He answers his questions with love and loyalty for their families and
their country. Reagan uses this in his speech to make the audience think deeply about why the men did

Explaining Why Biological Warfare Cannot be Explained with...
The purpose of this essay is to explain why it will be a problem to explain biological warfare with the
SCOT theory, actor network theory and technological systems theory.
Social Construction of Technology (SCOT) is a theory that was introduced by Weiber Bijker that
explains the link between social and technical processes of a technology or artifact. Bjiker argued that
technology is shaped by human engineers, market forces, consumer s needs and demands. In SCOT,
technology is a social construction. Because technology is socially constructed, it involves flexibility
of interpretations, stabilization and closure.
Biological warfare cannot be explained by SCOT theory because stabilization and closure which is the
cornerstone of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Among the components of technological systems are physical artifacts, such as biological weapon
agents, aerosols, milling machines, microscopes. Technological systems also include organizations
such as terrorist groups, governments and manufacturing laboratories. Legislative artifacts such as
treaties and protocols can also be part of technological systems. Overtime, technological systems tend
to join environmental factors into the system eliminating uncertainty ( free market ). They are goal
oriented: reordering of the material world to make it more productive. As technological systems
develop after a long period acquire momentum which makes the system have more influence on
society it will begin to shape society.
The reason technological systems concept will be unable to explain biological warfare is because
Hughes assumed that the society can resist the momentum of a technology if they act earlier. In the
production and use of biological weapons, the majority of the public are outsiders therefore, even if
the society is aware of biological weapon technology in its early stage, their voice would not have any
influence on the technology compared to the insiders (experts like microbiologists and organizations).
Actor network theory, sometimes abbreviated to ANT, is a sociological theory developed by Bruno
Latour, Michel Callon and John Law. The primary tenet of actor network theory is the concept that

Early Ottoman Medicine
Early Ottoman Medicine ranged from the 16th century to the 18th century but unlike most places of
the time, its medicinal knowledge was not isolated. The Ottomans had a very diverse body of
knowledge and based their practices on ideas from all around the world. The knowledge came from
the traditions of medieval Islam and central Asia. They also collected information from many sources
such as Greek, Persian and Turkish books. When it came to immigrants, Ottomans always had open
arms. By doing this, they were able to collect information from Iranian physicians and Jews who were
running from persecution in countries such as Spain, Portugal and Italy. The Ottomans collected
information from all around the world, helping them implement the most advanced and up to date
practices. However, not all of their practices were advanced. In early Ottoman medicine there was a
wide range of medical practices ranging from those deemed superstitious and supernatural to practices
considered extremely advanced. Some Ottoman physicians practiced advanced methods but they did
not come from advanced beliefs. The beliefs of Humoralism, one of the three types of medicine
practiced at the time would today be laughed at. Humoralists believed that the body was made up of
four humors: blood, phlegm, black bile and yellow bile. They believed that sickness would be caused
by an imbalance of these humors. To heal the sick person it was necessary to find what humor was
imbalanced and return balance to

Autism Spectrum Disorder
Statistical evidences. ASD s gender proportion suggests that the autism is sex linked, and the statistical
evidence convincingly shows that genetic factors are playing key role in the prevalence of ASD. To
begin with, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC) published the relationship between the number of autistic boys and girls. The
statistical evidence shows that boys are more inclined to become autistic than girls. CDC states that 1
in 42 boys and 1 in 189 girls were identified as having ASD. This observation shows that ASD is
likely a sex linked inheritance. Sex liked inheritance is defined as a pattern of inheritance
characteristic of genes located on the sex chromosomes of organisms having a chromosomal
mechanism for sex determination (Sadava et al., 2014). If the ASD was sex linked inheritance, the
ratio between male and female exhibiting the phenotype would result in 3 to 1 under the normal curve.
The ratio between boy and girl is approximately 5 to 1, which shows that there is a strong association
between sex linked inheritance and ASD. For this reason, it is reasonable to conclude that ASD is
primarily influenced by the genetic factor, which is prenatal. On the other hand, some behavioral
psychiatrists would argue that the conclusion is inaccurately determined, since the genetic mutation
would not occur within a decade. As indicated in Appendix C: Table 1, the rate at which the number of
ASD children increase

Tony Sopranos And The Italian Mafia
In popular American culture, the Italian Mafia has always been portrayed through romantic lenses.
Almost as if mirroring the sentiments of the audience, Henry Hill in the movie The Goodfellas tells
the viewers, As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a gangster. (Scorcese) The
quintessential mafia movie, The Godfather, was made over forty years ago, yet Michael Corleone
stays at the forefront of popular American icons. What s not to love about a no nonsense tough guy,

While Tony does plenty of terrible things throughout the course of the series, including murder. . . the
audience can sympathize with him, partly due to the deep looks into the psyche the Melfi sessions and
the explorations of his home life give us. . . so by these deeper examinations into Tony s mind, we

In a time in America when depression and therapy is so prevalent, may be its comforting to know that
someone as strong as Tony Soprano struggles with the same thing. If he is not immune, no one is.
Most people can accept the justification of decisions made, devoid of moral and ethical thought,
because we feel for Tony. We want him to succeed and for his family to be safe. More than just the
content of the story has contributed to the show s success. The mode of distribution was imperative in
the popularity of The Sopranos. Television allowed the creators to explore the depths of the mind of a
gangster like never before. The gangster story is no longer a simple morality play because it is
cinematic television of a hybrid genre, it is a complex series with many factors at play. (Beale 18)
Could the raw emotion of Tony Soprano after murdering his beloved nephew be felt any other way?
The intricacies of the situation could not have been properly absorbed through any other medium, just

Nuclear Bomb Proposal Essay
A MODEST PROPOSAL FOR THE PURPOSE OF PREVENTING THE BURDEN OF THE

NUCLEAR WARHEADS FROM OVERWHELMING OUR NOBLE SOCIETY It is a painful,
depressing sight for those who walk through our great cities, or travel all over the world to behold
those impoverished, bereft folk who have plagued and infested our society with their existence since
the very conception of the space time continuum. These individuals are only capable of, in the long

I think it can be agreed upon by all men and women with sound minds that nuclear warheads are
nothing more than trouble; outdated and admittedly empty threats. After all, the most dangerous part
of a ginormous bomb is not the actual explosion, but the potential threat created by it. Having had a
sufficient time to process my findings, I m sure that you will be happy to know that my humble
proposal for action is deceivingly simple. Of course, society should expect no less from one who is of
considerable intellect, as I am. The benefits of my scheme, however, are not so few and blunt, and
there are a myriad of immediate and delayed bonuses from going through with my plan. The number
of individuals who are either poor, devoid of purpose, or both has reached an approximate value of
four and a half billion. Additionally, the average international IQ has dropped by almost 20% in the

And Nygaard (1996) said In object oriented programming, an information process is regarded as a
system developing through transformation of its state. The substance of the process is organized as the
system components, called objects. A measurable property of the substance is a property of an object.
Transformation of state is regarded as actions by objects.
Mathiasen et el. (2000) gave the following description In many traditional Analysis and design
methods, functions, data, and data flows are the key concepts (5). The concepts are suitable for
describing phenomena in offices and computerized systems. Objects, states, and behavior on the other
hand, are more general concepts and are suitable for describing most phenomena that can be expressed
in natural language.
Object oriented programming (OOP) and object oriented design (OOD) refer to a particular way of
organizing programs, one which is rapidly emerging as the preferred approach for building complex
software systems (Morelli, R, 2000 pg. 5). Sommerville (2001) gave the following definitions: Object

Advantages Of Keeping Exotic Pets

Social media and make up, does it blend? Nowadays, everything is heavily influenced by social media
and makeup is no exception. Everyday makeup brands come up with new ideas on how to persuade
the consumer to buy their products. Their new strategy is to collaborate with Youtubers with millions

brand, released an eyeshadow palette in collaboration with Jaclyn Hill, a makeup artist with 4.5

Moreover, it also comes with different eyeshadow textures, such as shimmers and mattes, which make
the palette feel complete and perfect to create a variety of looks. Makeup lovers would be delighted
with this, since they are sometimes tired of buying the same boring and normal eyeshadows, just like a
makeup enthusiast said, I find that many of my palettes seem to be lacking these types of colors. I also
appreciate the act that she included a few pops of color. Instead of appearing RANDOM, they actually
compliment the more neutral shadows in this palette. You can tell she put a ton of thought into each
color that she included (Kate). Thanks to the variety of colors, users are able to be more versatile and
creative with the looks they create, making it a perfect choice for anyone that wants to have some fun.
Pretty eyeshadow colors are important, but pigmentation is also a big factor of the quality of an
eyeshadow. When costumers see a vibrant red color in a palette, they expect it to look the exact same
way in their eyelids, and not as a pale red. In the Morphe x Jaclyn Hill palette, the eyeshadows have
great pigmentation and the colors look just as in the palette. Besides, applying the eyeshadows to the
face once it s enough to get a great coverage, which is great because consumers would waste less
product. The combination of great pigmentation and great coverage is something that any makeup
lover would love to have.

Ting Toomey (1988) states an assumption of face negotiation theory is that people in all cultures try to
maintain and negotiate face in all communication situations. Another assumption of the theory
described by Ting Toomey (1988) is that face is problematic in sensitive interpersonal situations, such
as conflict. According to Oetzel and Ting Toomey (2003), the theory is useful in explaining both
differences and similarities in face and facework during conflict situations. Many scholars have
researched specific areas regarding face negotiation theory. The areas mentioned below will focus on
the concept of face, conflict, and intercultural situations. The concept of face is important in conflict
situations because communicators should protect their own interests, and avoid violating others
interests during the interaction. Face has many different definitions, written by many different
scholars. Ting Toomey (1988) defines face as an individual s claimed sense of positive image in the
context of social interaction (Ting Toomey, 1988) . Another definition of face is a claimed sense of
favorable social self worth that a person wants others to have of her or him (Ting Toomey

Wisdom In Ancient Greek And Greek-American Culture
Wisdom, for the majority of people, is viewed as valuable or desirable, but how is wisdom defined?
Aside from Oxford Dictionaries description of wisdom: The quality of having experience, knowledge,
and good judgment; the quality of being wise, in what other degrees can wisdom be characterized?
Regularly, in many cultures, children are taught to respect their elders because they are wise; because
wisdom resides in their elders as old age has brought them crystallized intelligence. In Greek and
Greek American culture, old age is honored and celebrated, and respect for elders is central to the
family; and in Korea, respect for one s parents, filial piety (Xiao), is considered the most fundamental
of the Confucian values, the root of all others. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is portrayed in the Roman goddess Minerva. Straying away from whole empires, Christianity
also favored problem solving. Where Paul the Apostle, an apostle who taught the gospel of the Christ

divine wisdom. In Buddhist traditions and Inuit traditions, developing wisdom was one of the aims of
teaching. An Inuit Elder said that a person becomes wise when they could see what needed to be done
and do it successfully without being told what to do. Lastly, in many cultures, our molar teeth are

Target Market of Holden Monaro Essay examples
The Holden Monaro is a coupe sports car in the line of HSV, or Holden Sports Vehicles, made by its
namesake Australian company. The car comes in a couple different specifications, but the engine is
always either a V6 or a V8, making it a powerful and fast vehicle. The original Monaro was created in
1968 with different species of car throughout the next three years. The second generation of Holden
Monaros was begun in 1971, which changed the body design of the car completely as well as made
the V6 engine no longer an option. The 1970 s Monaro was definitely a muscle car, though over the
years until 1977 the vehicle became more of a luxury sedan instead of the hard muscle it had begun
with. The Monaro was finally reborn in the 2000 s and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The distinct identity that this vehicle has in the marketplace is that it is a phoenix of cars, reborn out of
the old model of the Holden Monaro and made into a new, slick version. Holden would position this in
the market by saying that it is the most powerful mainstream Holden to be brought out, drawing
people who desire that kind of brawn and intensity in a car. The focus of appeal for the vehicle was
how the Monaro made a possible consumer feel. The older men would feel nostalgia by thinking of
the old Monaro, even though the style of body would be different, the emotional attachment to the
name of Monaro would be the same. The younger generation might look at the vehicle and feel drawn
to its subtle curves and sporty body design, featuring the double scoop on the hood of the car. The
focus of appeal might be imagining yourself behind the wheel of the Monaro and feeling the power of
the engine and the bucket racing seats, knowing that the car you are driving is both luxurious and
nimble. Something about just looking at the car or watching an advertisement on the television would
stir an emotion in the target market, and make them likely to go for a test drive and ultimately
(hopefully) purchase the car. In my personal opinion, the Holden Monaro does not hold a
spectacularly distinct product position from the other Holden Sports Vehicles in that line of cars. The
newer models of Holden Commodores are also revitalised versions of the same vehicle

Apathy Mantra Death; Apathy Empathy Healing William D. Tammeus, a journalist, once wrote that
You don t really understand human nature unless you know why a child on a merry go round will
wave at his parents every time around and why his parents will always wave back. This quote
beautifully paints a picture of the natural love present between a parent and child. However,
sometimes this love becomes obscured and a disconnection occurs that prevents the parent from
empathy. The stories Two Kinds, and The Rocking Horse Winner show that a parent s lack of empathy
impacts the child s search for the self in the following phases: first, the search for the self is stunted ...

I pictured this prodigy part of me as many different images, and I tried each one on for size (Tan 405).
However as the time passes by, the mother s tests driven by a lack of empathy begins to suffocate and
stunt the search for the self within Jing mei. She recalls, And after seeing, once again, my mother s
disappointed face, something inside me began to die (Tan 406). As her search for the self is suffocated
to its threshold, Jing mei stands in front of the mirror. Here her search for the self is completely buried
and replaced with mantras, filled with lots of wont s. I won t let her change me... I won t be what I m
not (Tan 406).
In the second stage, the mantra intensifies and this can be observed in Paul as his mother continues to
deprive him of her empathy. While Paul s search for the self is deeply buried, his initial mantra does
get him the luck he is searching for. He wins five thousand pounds to secretly give to his mother. This
is an important and emotional gift to her because He was very anxious to see the effect of the birthday
letter... (Lawrence 359). This is an open window for Paul s healing and recovery of the self if she
could muster some emotion and empathy for his efforts. Instead, she leaves him still deprived. When
Paul watched her face as she read the letters... her face hardened and became more expressionless
(Lawrence 359). Asking for one last chance to see emotion capable of love and empathy on her
mother s face, Paul asks,

Draft Guidance Paper
Study Details
The study selected by this author centers around ethical and oversight issues concerning standard of
care interventions received by participants in research studies. So as to address recently arisen
concerns regarding key aspects of regulation and oversight of standard of care interventions executed
during trials, the office for human research protections (OHRP) solicited comments from experts on
what has been termed as Draft Guidance (Institute of Medicine [IOM], 2015, pp. 1 3).
The report focuses on one particular issue involving the determination and communication of all the
reasonably foreseeable risks that are associated with participating in a trial compared to receiving
standard of care interventions. The OHRP and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
(HHS) produced a document entitled Draft Guidance on Disclosing Reasonably Foreseeable Risks in
Research Evaluating Standards of Care ( Draft Guidance ), so that comments and expert opinions
could be gathered on the subject (IOM, 2015). As a result, an IOM sponsored workshop was convened
to facilitate dialogue among stakeholders about the ethical issues surrounding study design and

The Diversity Within The Workplace
As the global reach of each organization grows, their objectives have not changed, however, their look
toward leadership has. The increased diversity in the workplace requires superior synchronization by
identified employees to meet effectively the mission and vision of the organization. This individual
must be capable of meeting the needs of subordinates with their area of expertise with set expectations
for meeting organizational goals. While the world analyzed this need, several theories became known.
These theories include: (1) path goal; (2) situational leadership; and (3) contingency, all of which
jumped into the everyday language to fulfill the need to define specific characteristics of the leaders;
at that time. Moreover, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The leader expertise integrates leader competence within the behaviors of the leader (de Vries, Roe,
Taillieu, 2002). Discovering the appropriate characteristic and style for the leader as well as the

result when inappropriate styles and characteristics are employed.
Discussion
Understanding that leadership is needed within an organization and within the global realm, one must
make a take inventory of skills needed and possessed. Being truthful with oneself will prevent over
and understatements of available talents. A true self analysis requires obtaining an original reflection
of personal talents. This analysis includes the assessment of: (1) holistic leadership reflection; (2)
leadership theory evaluation; (3) leadership genre analysis; (4) today s leadership practices; and (5)
self improvement strategies. Honest assessments of current leadership characteristics available may
provide a solid foundation for strategic leadership goals to be created (Sydänmaanlakka, 2003).
Holistic Leadership Reflection
The reflection of ones leadership development that focuses on self, the followers and the
organizational environment that result in overall mission transformational accomplishment is a
fundamental need. Holistic leadership is a process and

How Social Class Affected My Life
Social Class refers to a group of people with similar levels of wealth, influence, and status. As time
passes by many of us start to alienate from each other in terms of what classes we belong to and what
type of things we could afford and it also affects the social mobility people will experience, because of
that it affects a lot of us greatly and you start to realize how it affects you when it comes to what type
of neighborhood you live in or what type of work you do or where you go to school. Social Class has
hugely affected me especially when it comes to where I live and where I grew up. In Park slope in
Brooklyn back then when I was a child our neighborhood consisted of the working middle class with
people that actually made a wage that allowed them to live here and we had many stores we could go
to and relate and grow relationships with people there but as time went on all that began to change. As
I was getting older I didn t realize it but things were changing slow like the stores we used to go to
closed down and went for sale or they got bought out and they were replaced with stores where many
of the merchandise was expensive and hard to get, also they were being torn down and replaced with
beautiful apartments which I thought at the time was cool because I was thinking it was getting a
makeover. As time went on many of the buildings I grew up seeing started getting turned into
condominiums where the prices were getting ridiculous and the rent started going up and I started
seeing Caucasian people and I realized these condos were being built with people who were part of the
new middle class or had money where they could afford to live in condos. When I got a job at a store
called Earth s Basket it was difficult to even get the job but as I started to work there I realized many
of the things we were selling were grossly overpriced when I could just go across the street and get the
same thing for a lower price and I got frustrated because the reason why those things were so
overpriced were because of the people that were moving into Park Slope and because of white people
everything was going up in price and when I see them paying for items that were like $10 where you
could get it somewhere else

Ask a local about Silverwater and they will tell you it s a virtually undiscovered residential suburb
close to anything and everything a person could need or want. Most people think Silverwater is mostly
a commercial area, but it s not. The commercial areas are scattered across the suburb amongst the
housings and dwellings in local neighbourhoods. It s home to several small to medium sized
businesses from warehouses and manufacturers to boutique stores and services. There are some large
companies that make Silverwater home, but this Sydney suburb has become more residential over the

Examples Of Unnatural In Macbeth
Tis unnatural, / Even like the deed that s done (II. IV.13 14) Says the old man about the crime on King
Duncan that has been committed. King Duncan has just been discovered in his chambers and no one
knows who the murderer is. Ross, a Scottish nobleman, and an old man discuss the strange and
ominous happenings of the past few days concerning nature. They believe that the unnatural events
have been occurring because of Duncan s murder. Macbeth by William Shakespeare is a play that uses
the motif the unnatural to show that Macbeth has committed a crime so foul that even the natural order
of things has been thrown off balance. During Act 2, there are a couple unnatural occurrences taking
place, especially containing animals. For example, A falcon, tow ring in her pride of place, / Was by a
mousing owl hawked at and killed. (15 16). A falcon s pride of place is high in the sky, so it is very
unusual that a owl, who eats mice on the ground, flew up to kill the falcon. There is a contrast seen in
both animals due to the falcon being a day creature and the owl being a hunter of the night. Both
animals are used to symbolize Macbeth (the owl) killing Duncan (the falcon), who was high in social
status due to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

guilty of the deed he has committed and refuses to see it. Macbeth wanted dark night so he would not
be able to see what he was doing so he wouldn t feel guilty. However, he ended up feeling guilty
anyway. This example concerning the sun is considered unnatural because the sun is suppose to rise at

Bureaucracy In The Military
The military is not a bureaucracy in and of itself, but contains bureaucracy. In fact, it is around 90%
bureaucracy, by pure manpower numbers. Let me come back to that.
A simpler way to think of what is a bureaucracy is to think of what is a bureaucrat: a bureaucrat is any
person in a secondary or tertiary function within an organization. For example, in an architectural
firm, you have principal architects, staff architects, intern architects, accountants, and administrators (I
am ignoring the CA and PM functions for this example). All of the architects primarily do design
work, that is the function of the firm. The principals also do some marketing, which is really a
secondary function, so they are part bureaucrat and part functionary. The ... Show more content on

We want people to enforce rules set up by the laws created by congress, and we want them to be
objective, so we set up hiring rules, you can t just hire your brother, cousin, friend, whomever, you
must go through a strict process. We want a bureaucracy that is essentially a political, specifically
NOT beholden to the ruling party (everyone has political preferences, but we do not want the
bureaucracy to be politically motivated). We want the rules to be followed objectively, so you can t tell
food processing plant A that their process is unsafe or unhealthy, but plant B can use that process just
because your brother, cousin, friend, or whomever, works there. And that is just the tip of the iceberg.
We live in a democracy, where the government must answer to the people. This means someone has to
sit down and make reports about how money is being spent, or how effective a program is; we want
oversight and audits to ensure the money is spent the way it is being reported, that programs are being
administered objectively; we want to ensure that no one bureaucrat has too much power. All these
things mean we have to hire people whose job is something other than the primary function of
government, so we have layers of bureaucracy providing oversight, buffers, checks, and

The 1870 Education Act
1.0 Introduction
Education Act speaks about schooling which mainly emphasizes on students. Education Act plays the
role as a guideline or referral point for all aspects relating to education. At current, there are several
existing acts on education. One of the earliest ones and recognized Education Act would be the 1870
Education Act which will be summarized, contextualized and evaluated in the following subtopics.
2.0 1870 Education Act Summarized
The 1870 Education Act, universally recognized as Foster s Education Act, set the structure of
schooling for all children aged between 5 and 13 years old (Politics, 2014). Gillard (2011) mentioned
that the 1870 Education Act which established school boards to oversee and complete the network of
schools and bring them all under some form of provision was drafted by Liberal MP, William Forster,
and it was introduced on 9 August 1870. 1870 Education Act is the start of obligatory state education
(Shaw, 2011). The Act was introduced with the purpose to handle education aspect in Britain
(Parliament, No Date). The Parliament (No Date) further added on by stating the act permitted
voluntary schools to carry on unchanged, but established a system of school boards to build and
manage schools in areas where they were needed . The Act contains three parts and five schedules that
deal with organizational issues.
1870 Education Act stated that:

Who Is Anne Shirley A Dynamic Character
Both Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery and Indian Horse by Richard Wagamese focus on
the troubled past of the protagonist characters, and the influence their personal histories have on the
growth and development of the individuals as they enter adulthood and come to terms with
themselves. A great milestone in the transition between childhood and adulthood is self acceptance,
and learning from your past. Anne of Green Gables tells the story of Anne Shirley, a young romanticist
who struggles to find balance between her lively imagination and the realities of growing up. Anne
finds herself in all sorts of trouble as she tries to adjust in her new home, and is often challenging the

Anne retreats to her imagination to create a dream world, which often acts as a contrast to the
environment she lives in. Upon entering Avonlea, Anne s daydreams and fantasies often pull her away
from reality, and she struggles to understand the social normalities and expectations within her

dramatic character. Throughout the novel, she often expresses her distaste in her appearance; and is
especially wordy when discussing her bright red hair, I could endure anything if I only thought my
hair would be a handsome auburn when I grew up. It would be so much easier to be good if one s hair
was a handsome auburn, don t you think? (page 65). One of Anne Shirley s most defining traits is her

The Arduous Journey Of Discovering Antonio s Destiny
I decided that The Arduous Journey to Discovering Antonio s Destiny is a decent, exceptional title for
my paper, because it gives a brief description on what my paper will be about, Antonio s expedition on
finding his destiny.
1 ½ ) When reading over the assignment rubric, I noticed a few errors. One being in question number
1, where it says, How are Samuel, Antonio, and Cico different? . Instead of saying are you would say
is. Is is singular while are is plural, and since it s talking about each individual, it would make it
singular. 2) Antonio and Cico just saw a golden carp, which is a pagan god according to Samuel.
Witnessing it strongly impacted Antonio, since actually seeing it was as splendid and impressive as the
Catholic God. Previously observing Ultima s magic and just the thought of the carp really shows to
Tony that there is more to life than what he s been taught from church and his mother. After
confronting the carp, Antonio realizes that Ultima was able to do things his Catholic god couldn t,
revealing that he would never be fulfilled by his Catholic faith. His friends Samuel and Cico are all
different from each other. Antonio is a Catholic, Samuel tells Antonio about the carp, and Cico
believes in many gods, like the golden carp, and shows it Antonio.
3) In the setting of the novel, it seemed as if the boys and girls were separated in a way, because the
girls had to stay confined indoors while the boys had to go outside, even in the

  • 2. Similarities Between Never Let Me Go And Frankenstein Introduction Paragraph From past to present there is still the imminent topic of what it means to be a human. Throughout the course of works done, there have been many great writers that explored the topic and created some fabulous works from it. Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro and Frankenstein by Mary Shelley are two works of literature that really explored and enlighten the readers on the idea of humanity through other s mind. Both of these works created a controversy and makes the reader really think about what is morally right to them about humanity. There are several disagreements and counter dictions that are made when comparing the two works but after reading the novel and watching the film, there was a strong focus on three main ... Because he looks threatening, they automatically assume that he is incapable of feelings and emotions. They only think that he s pure evil and wants to hurt everyone. I am alone and miserable: man will not associate with me; but one as deformed and horrible as myself would not deny herself to me. My companion must be of the same species and have the same defects. This being you must create (Shelley 121). Although in reality, the creature just wants someone to be his friend and to have someone that shares the same feeling for love that he has. The rest of the society don t actually know that the monster is truly nice but because they never gave him the chance to show it, he lives his life miserably. In Chapter 16, the monster sees a girl drowning and goes in to save her and when he brings her out of the water the first thing that happens is he gets shot by her guardian who thought the monster was trying to hurt her. All he felt was rage and revenge against everyone and Victor who rejected him. from that moment declared everlasting war against the species, and more than all, against Victor who had formed him and sent him forth to this insupportable misery (Shelly 124). No one let him live like a free man, instead he lived miserably and alone, because of this nonstop buildup of misery it led to the destructive behavior. In the film Never Let Me Go, the clones are used and nurtured to grow up as donations for others. New York Daily News Article Analysis The paper that is being looked at is the New York Daily News, published on the 6th of July, claiming to have the largest circulation in the Manhattan Bronx area(ref3). The circulation is quite substantial for the city, but doesn t spread any further within that paper. It is one of the first tabloids within the area to have grown popularity, and in the chosen article suggests a more conservative lean, having a strong impact on the language used within the pages of the newspaper. It seems to be more likely to be focused on appealing for the middle class. In this article especially, there is the use of strong homophobic language, and refusal to correctly gender those taking part in the riot, including referring to the patrons of the bar as little girls (ref4). The pair describe what they know to have happened within the building and the questions that were asked throughout the community. Not only do Bruce and Nan provide an understanding of how the LGBT community generally viewed the paper, but within their search for answers, they give a strong impression of how they view the police force, and especially how the force treated the LGBT community in New York at the time. The poet uses powerful imagery which vividly illustrates the lasting impression made upon a girl whose father seeks satisfaction through witnessing the destruction caused by nighttime fires. The poem creates a picture in the reader s mind of the father s character as his grown child still remembers from when she was five years old. Although it is obvious that the father is a victim of an economy that caused him to be without a job, his actions are bizarre and inexcusable. • 5. Rhetorical Analysis Of Speech By Ronald Reagan Two hundred and nine thousand. That is the number of lives that were nobly given to save the many during the invasion of Normandy (D day and the Battle of Normandy). The courageous men and women fought continuously for days on end, climbing the jagged cliffs of Normandy, France. Under rifle fire from gun nests from above, the allied troops were able to take control of the coastline, but not without great sacrifice. The speech given by Ronald Reagan was made to commemorate those who fearlessly fought for our country and the many thousands that gave their lives during those hard days of war. His speech had a clear message, to honor and remember those who gave and risked their lives during the invasion of Normandy. Logos is can be seen frequently in this speech. You were young the day you took these cliffs; some of you were hardly more than boys, with the deepest joys of life before you. Yet, you risked everything here. Why? Why did you do it? What impelled you to put aside the instinct for self preservation and risk your lives to take these cliffs? What inspired all the men of the armies that met here? We look at you, and somehow we know the answer. It was faith and belief; it was loyalty and love. (Reagan). He answers his questions with love and loyalty for their families and their country. • 6. Explaining Why Biological Warfare Cannot be Explained with... The purpose of this essay is to explain why it will be a problem to explain biological warfare with the SCOT theory, actor network theory and technological systems theory. Social Construction of Technology (SCOT) is a theory that was introduced by Weiber Bijker that explains the link between social and technical processes of a technology or artifact. Bjiker argued that technology is shaped by human engineers, market forces, consumer s needs and demands. In SCOT, technology is a social construction. Because technology is socially constructed, it involves flexibility of interpretations, stabilization and closure. Biological warfare cannot be explained by SCOT theory because stabilization and closure which is the cornerstone of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Among the components of technological systems are physical artifacts, such as biological weapon agents, aerosols, milling machines, microscopes. Technological systems also include organizations such as terrorist groups, governments and manufacturing laboratories. Legislative artifacts such as treaties and protocols can also be part of technological systems. Overtime, technological systems tend to join environmental factors into the system eliminating uncertainty ( free market ). They are goal oriented: reordering of the material world to make it more productive. As technological systems develop after a long period acquire momentum which makes the system have more influence on society it will begin to shape society. The reason technological systems concept will be unable to explain biological warfare is because Hughes assumed that the society can resist the momentum of a technology if they act earlier. In the production and use of biological weapons, the majority of the public are outsiders therefore, even if the society is aware of biological weapon technology in its early stage, their voice would not have any influence on the technology compared to the insiders (experts like microbiologists and organizations). Actor network theory, sometimes abbreviated to ANT, is a sociological theory developed by Bruno Latour, Michel Callon and John Law. The primary tenet of actor network theory is the concept that ... • 7. Early Ottoman Medicine Early Ottoman Medicine ranged from the 16th century to the 18th century but unlike most places of the time, its medicinal knowledge was not isolated. The Ottomans had a very diverse body of knowledge and based their practices on ideas from all around the world. The knowledge came from the traditions of medieval Islam and central Asia. They also collected information from many sources such as Greek, Persian and Turkish books. When it came to immigrants, Ottomans always had open arms. By doing this, they were able to collect information from Iranian physicians and Jews who were running from persecution in countries such as Spain, Portugal and Italy. The Ottomans collected information from all around the world, helping them implement the most advanced and up to date practices. However, not all of their practices were advanced. In early Ottoman medicine there was a wide range of medical practices ranging from those deemed superstitious and supernatural to practices considered extremely advanced. Some Ottoman physicians practiced advanced methods but they did not come from advanced beliefs. The beliefs of Humoralism, one of the three types of medicine practiced at the time would today be laughed at. Humoralists believed that the body was made up of four humors: blood, phlegm, black bile and yellow bile. They believed that sickness would be caused by an imbalance of these humors. To heal the sick person it was necessary to find what humor was imbalanced and return balance to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Autism Spectrum Disorder Statistical evidences. ASD s gender proportion suggests that the autism is sex linked, and the statistical evidence convincingly shows that genetic factors are playing key role in the prevalence of ASD. To begin with, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) published the relationship between the number of autistic boys and girls. The statistical evidence shows that boys are more inclined to become autistic than girls. CDC states that 1 in 42 boys and 1 in 189 girls were identified as having ASD. This observation shows that ASD is likely a sex linked inheritance. Sex liked inheritance is defined as a pattern of inheritance characteristic of genes located on the sex chromosomes of organisms having a chromosomal mechanism for sex determination (Sadava et al., 2014). If the ASD was sex linked inheritance, the ratio between male and female exhibiting the phenotype would result in 3 to 1 under the normal curve. The ratio between boy and girl is approximately 5 to 1, which shows that there is a strong association between sex linked inheritance and ASD. For this reason, it is reasonable to conclude that ASD is primarily influenced by the genetic factor, which is prenatal. On the other hand, some behavioral psychiatrists would argue that the conclusion is inaccurately determined, since the genetic mutation would not occur within a decade. As indicated in Appendix C: Table 1, the rate at which the number of ASD children increase ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nuclear Bomb Proposal Essay A MODEST PROPOSAL FOR THE PURPOSE OF PREVENTING THE BURDEN OF THE IMPOVERISHED AND UNDESIRED AS WELL AS THE ABUNDANT PRESENCE OF NUCLEAR WARHEADS FROM OVERWHELMING OUR NOBLE SOCIETY It is a painful, depressing sight for those who walk through our great cities, or travel all over the world to behold those impoverished, bereft folk who have plagued and infested our society with their existence since the very conception of the space time continuum. • 17. Social Media Makeup Essay Social media and make up, does it blend? Nowadays, everything is heavily influenced by social media and makeup is no exception. Everyday makeup brands come up with new ideas on how to persuade the consumer to buy their products. Their new strategy is to collaborate with Youtubers with millions of followers to create new products; this is the case for the new Morphe palette. Morphe, an indie brand, released an eyeshadow palette in collaboration with Jaclyn Hill, a makeup artist with 4.5 million followers on Youtube. They created the Morphe X Jaclyn Hill Eyeshadow Palette , which sold out almost immediately (Statz). This palette has impacted the makeup world and became a must have for any makeup lover. Makeup lovers would be delighted with this, since they are sometimes tired of buying the same boring and normal eyeshadows, just like a makeup enthusiast said, I find that many of my palettes seem to be lacking these types of colors. I also appreciate the act that she included a few pops of color. Instead of appearing RANDOM, they actually compliment the more neutral shadows in this palette. You can tell she put a ton of thought into each color that she included (Kate). Thanks to the variety of colors, users are able to be more versatile and creative with the looks they create, making it a perfect choice for anyone that wants to have some fun. Pretty eyeshadow colors are important, but pigmentation is also a big factor of the quality of an eyeshadow. When costumers see a vibrant red color in a palette, they expect it to look the exact same way in their eyelids, and not as a pale red. In the Morphe x Jaclyn Hill palette, the eyeshadows have great pigmentation and the colors look just as in the palette. Besides, applying the eyeshadows to the face once it s enough to get a great coverage, which is great because consumers would waste less product. The combination of great pigmentation and great coverage is something that any makeup lover would love to have. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Marion Hall started her career in reggae music at the age of fifteen, while recording with some local sound systems. Hall s stage persona as Lady Saw is a distinct contrast to her true self, the way she is now and when she was growing up. Face Negotiation Theory By Stella Ting Toomey Face negotiation theory was developed by Stella Ting Toomey, a professor of Speech Communication at California State University, Fullerton, who earned her Ph.D. from the University of Washington in 1981. She developed the theory after being influenced by the work of Goffman, and Brown and Levinson. Ting Toomey (1988) states an assumption of face negotiation theory is that people in all cultures try to maintain and negotiate face in all communication situations. Another assumption of the theory described by Ting Toomey (1988) is that face is problematic in sensitive interpersonal situations, such as conflict. According to Oetzel and Ting Toomey (2003), the theory is useful in explaining both differences and similarities in face and facework during conflict situations. Many scholars have researched specific areas regarding face negotiation theory. The areas mentioned below will focus on the concept of face, conflict, and intercultural situations. The concept of face is important in conflict situations because communicators should protect their own interests, and avoid violating others interests during the interaction. Face has many different definitions, written by many different scholars. Ting Toomey (1988) defines face as an individual s claimed sense of positive image in the context of social interaction (Ting Toomey, 1988) . The car comes in a couple different specifications, but the engine is always either a V6 or a V8, making it a powerful and fast vehicle. The original Monaro was created in 1968 with different species of car throughout the next three years. The second generation of Holden Monaros was begun in 1971, which changed the body design of the car completely as well as made the V6 engine no longer an option. The distinct identity that this vehicle has in the marketplace is that it is a phoenix of cars, reborn out of the old model of the Holden Monaro and made into a new, slick version. Holden would position this in the market by saying that it is the most powerful mainstream Holden to be brought out, drawing people who desire that kind of brawn and intensity in a car. The focus of appeal for the vehicle was how the Monaro made a possible consumer feel. The older men would feel nostalgia by thinking of the old Monaro, even though the style of body would be different, the emotional attachment to the name of Monaro would be the same. The younger generation might look at the vehicle and feel drawn to its subtle curves and sporty body design, featuring the double scoop on the hood of the car. The focus of appeal might be imagining yourself behind the wheel of the Monaro and feeling the power of the engine and the bucket racing seats, knowing that the car you are driving is both luxurious and nimble. Something about just looking at the car or watching an advertisement on the television would stir an emotion in the target market, and make them likely to go for a test drive and ultimately (hopefully) purchase the car. In my personal opinion, the Holden Monaro does not hold a spectacularly distinct product position from the other Holden Sports Vehicles in that line of cars. Here her search for the self is completely buried and replaced with mantras, filled with lots of wont s. I won t let her change me... I won t be what I m not (Tan 406). Social Class has hugely affected me especially when it comes to where I live and where I grew up. In Park slope in Brooklyn back then when I was a child our neighborhood consisted of the working middle class with people that actually made a wage that allowed them to live here and we had many stores we could go to and relate and grow relationships with people there but as time went on all that began to change. As I was getting older I didn t realize it but things were changing slow like the stores we used to go to closed down and went for sale or they got bought out and they were replaced with stores where many of the merchandise was expensive and hard to get, also they were being torn down and replaced with beautiful apartments which I thought at the time was cool because I was thinking it was getting a makeover. As time went on many of the buildings I grew up seeing started getting turned into condominiums where the prices were getting ridiculous and the rent started going up and I started seeing Caucasian people and I realized these condos were being built with people who were part of the new middle class or had money where they could afford to live in condos. When I got a job at a store called Earth s Basket it was difficult to even get the job but as I started to work there I realized many of the things we were selling were grossly overpriced when I could just go across the street and get the same thing for a lower price and I got frustrated because the reason why those things were so overpriced were because of the people that were moving into Park Slope and because of white people everything was going up in price and when I see them paying for items that were like $10 where you could get it somewhere else ... Let me come back to that. A simpler way to think of what is a bureaucracy is to think of what is a bureaucrat: a bureaucrat is any person in a secondary or tertiary function within an organization. For example, in an architectural firm, you have principal architects, staff architects, intern architects, accountants, and administrators (I am ignoring the CA and PM functions for this example).
