1837 Rebellion Research Paper
The Impact of the Rebellions of 1837 38 By:Ishan Imagine a party taking place in a courtyard in the
early 19th century. Everyone s having fun, but after a while, the mood darkens as British loyalist
forces close in on the courtyard and start a full blown stone fight just because it was a Canadian
political party. This event actually happened right before the 1837 Rebellion! The British loyalists
attacked Canadian politicians with stones! After this fight, the Canadian politicians decided to start
planning an insurrection big enough to rock British political rule over both Lower Canada and Upper
Canada. The attack was later implemented on December 7, 1837. This battle was the first time that
ordinary people demanded change. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This also happened after the Act of Union. There were three social classes in 19th century Canada, the
upper class, middle class, and lower class. The upper class were the wealthiest citizens that owned
many acres of land and a large estate. They would hire many people in the lower class as slaves that
would clean up the house and cook for them. Instead of working on farms, men and women would
work in or own businesses in the city. The middle class would have acres of land too, but less than the
upper class. The middle had one or two slaves and a large house. They would also work in businesses
down in the city. The lower class were just above slaves. They owned acres of land, but significantly
less than the middle and upper class. They would have a farmhouse of decent size, and large families
to make work on the farm easier. Because of their poverty, they would only work on the farm. The
lower class were also expected to build a road in front of their homes. This ranking system was
established by the British. The British would charge high taxes, mainly affecting the lower class, who
had a hard time affording it. The middle and upper class would not care. The lower class eventually
decided to fight along with the angry politicians, known as the Rebels. After the Canadians were met
with defeat, the British noticed that the way the colonies were run was not good and had to be fixed to

A Comparison Of Louis Armstrong And Paul Desmond
Louis Armstrong and Paul Desmond
Louis Armstrong: He is known to The King of Jazz as Louis Satchmo. He was actually one of the
most outstanding personalities in the early jazz. He is believed to be the one defining jazz music. The
significance of jazz according to him is creation of a new something of an ancient, making. He gave a
helping hand in the creation plus the representation of a brand new element of a twist on the popular
music.
According to McClendon 2015, when most of us listen to the world contrasted leader, we tend to think
of a being which is extraordinary. A human being that is completely contrasting to the others. We have
seen and heard about very many leaders in the past decades but Louis Armstrong is a great one. His
leading of a great life of music was portrayed in diverse ways. He brought his own style of music that
actually became so loved and cherished around the entire globe. However, he was born on August 4th,
1901 in the New Orleans. He made tremendous achievements in the course of his life and in the
course of doing what he was comfortable with, he became a leader of sound mind cherished and
respected by everybody despite the troublesome painful years he had while still a young boy. Louis
had a hard and painful childhood. His biological dad had just abandoned the family when he was a
very young small baby, left with no choice than to live with the grandmother Josephine Armstrong.
At six years, Louis met three other boys in his life with whom they

VALUE LINE PUBLISHING,
OCTOBER 2002
Teaching Note
This case follows the performance review and financial statement forecasting decisions of a Value
Line analyst for the retail building supply industry in October 2002. The case contrasts the strong
operating performance of Home Depot with the strong stock market performance of Lowe s. Students
examine a financial ratio analysis for Home Depot that acts as a template to generate a comparable
ratio analysis for Lowe s. The students ratio analysis is designed to build intuition with respect to
interpreting individual ratios as well as ratio inter relationships (e.g., the DuPont framework). The
historical performance comparison suggests that investors are skeptical of the ability ... Show more

The students should come to realize that the return on capital figures should be evaluated relative to a
market based benchmark, the weighted average cost of capital. Relative to the WACC calculated in
case Exhibit 2, Home Depot is beating its benchmark (12.3 percent), while Lowe s is below its
benchmark (11.6 percent). The class may comment on the justification for differences in the cost of
capital estimates for firms that appear so similar in their risk profiles.
Using a DuPont type decomposition, the instructor can use the available ratio analysis to peel back the
differences in operating performance in margins and turnover. The instructor can also use this time to
build understanding of the economic content of financial ratios. The students should have used the
Home Depot analysis in case Exhibit 7 to build their own ratio analyses of Lowe s. Exhibit TN1
provides a comparison of the 2001 figures for both companies, which can be the focus of the
discussion. Exhibit TN2 provides the entire five year analysis for Lowe s as reference. The discussion
is likely to highlight that, across almost any dimension, Home Depot has outperformed Lowe s on an
operating basis in 2001.
This discussion can be contrasted with the stock market performance. Over the past year, shares in
Lowe s have performed considerably better than those of Home Depot. The instructor can query the

Cults Essay
Cults have become a phenomenon in our world today. Each year quot;hundreds of Canadians join
some of the 3,000 unorthodox religions of one type or another quot; (Fernell, Branswell, 189) all
across North America. Like every organization, club or even in the common work place there is
usually a person who is a figure of authority or other wise know as a quot;leader quot; and with every
leader there are always rules and objectives that each and every member has to do and follow. The
common psychological profile and objective of a cult leader is usually based upon power, control,
domination and subjugation. Many cult leaders use forms of mind control such as thought reform,

. . they can offer wealth or the perfect relationship (Fennel, 186). Once a cult leader and its members
have targeted a person or group of people the targets are disempowered such that they often become
dependent on the leader to allow them to get through each day without their life being made hell
(Hassen, 02). Once someone has been recruited into a cult the leader often begins to deteriorate the
way the person thinks and acts. Leaders often end up controlling the way the members think and
control their emotions and feelings. The leaders achieve this by manipulating and narrowing the range
of a persons feelings . . . by the use of excessive guilt, social guilt, and excessive use of fear . . .
(Hassen, 02). After this kind of treatment is embedded into someone s mind the person whom is under
mind control can not visualize a positive fulfilled future without being in the group or cult. Members
become sensitive to the tactic that illegitimate leader use by turning their questions and comments
around and use them to blame members into obedience. Some cult leaders become so obsessed with
their ideas and thoughts that they can end up controlling things like what members should eat, wear
for clothing and whom members can and can not associate with. When leaders are called to account
for the way they have chosen to behave the cult leader instinctively denies everything and anything
that may have brought up the question in the first place. Quickly follows the denial

Alongside certification, the course itself is also revised every four years to adapt and keep up with the
changes in the healthcare industry. Aside from physicians, there are other medical personnel that may
take the course as well such as registered nurses, physician s assistants and SA s. The first step in an
ATLS course is preparation. In order to successfully treat trauma patients, two phases need to occur: a
prehospital phase and a hospital phase. Prehospital phase allows the physician to coordinate with
medical personnel in order to fasten treatment and inform the receiving hospital earlier to allow the
trauma team to get to work. Hospital phase allows advance planning to occur and lets the hospital
prepare a resuscitation area, proper airway equipment and a trauma team. This preparation is
important and benefits the team and the patient by saving time. Next in the course is learning how to
properly triage patients. The word triage is a french word meaning to sort . According to the ATLS
course, sorting patients is determined by the need for treatment and available resources. If there are

Alzheimer s Disease Analysis
Alzheimer s disease is a degenerative, neurological disease that affects millions of people every year.
It is a specific type of dementia that affects both memory and cognitive functions. The cause of the
disease has been well studied along with many types of ion interactions that either lessen or worsen
symptoms. Currently there is no treatment for this disease, but many researchers are working to find a
cure.
Alzheimer s disease is categorized by slight impaired memory to severe cognitive loss (Mayeux,
2010). This can be seen by a loss in retaining new memories as well as a decrease in language,
reasoning and decision making (Mayeux, 2010). This disease is progressive and patients only get
worse with time and it finally ends in death with both mental and functional disabilities (Mayeux,
2010). This is seen mainly in people 65 and older and studies have shown that age and aging is the
highest risk factor for the developing the disease (Lundkvist, 2014).

Nuclear Atomic Nuclear Reactor Was Brought Online
On December 2nd, 1942, the Chicago Pile 1 nuclear reactor was brought online. It was the world s
first, and the beginning of a movement that would come to shape the world s energy resources for
decades to come. Since that day, nuclear power has peaked at ten percent of the world s total energy
resources in 2011 (International Energy Agency), and has fueled not only power grids across the
globe, but a heated debate about the viability, environmental impact, and ethical concerns of using
nuclear fission and radioactive chemical reactions as a public energy source. The most widespread
arguments against its use all revolve around a trio of disastrous reactor failures spanning the last three
decades: the meltdown on Three Mile Island, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

however, heat was no longer being removed from the reactor. When the water pumps had stopped,
three auxiliary pumps activated automatically. Their valves had been closed for routine maintenance,
however, leaving them unable to pump any water. Closing all three valves at once was a violation of
Nuclear Regulatory Commission policy, and one of the primary causes of the reactor s partial

Nypro Inc is a market driven company and thus the company will have to put much focus on the

product more satisfactory to needs of the consumer. The efficiency of the implementation of navoplast
system hinges on the fact that it is a solution to make Nypro competitive. Competitiveness was not
only being against other manufacturing companies but against the company itself to improve the real
potential and the capabilities of Nypro Inc as its answer of technology.
One of the main issues that Nypro faces is how to compete in the future. Nypro has created a system
where it is able to capitalize on its current market through its various innovation and alliances with
their current customers. Nypro s competitors started being competitive by able to duplicate their
processes .Nypro should not only focus on quality and innovation but should keep a check on demand
and demanding speed. Nypro with its current equipment may not have the necessary flexibility
demanded by the market; it does not allow rapid prototyping. Nypro has an issue to decide how
effectively to utilize the recurrent demands of the market.

America s neoliberal capitalism and the economic expansion
After the crisis of government regulation capitalism about six years from 1973 to1979, a new layout
liberal capitalism started to appear; firstly it was in Britain and the United States. In America, the new
liberal capitalism was of main features in following:
(1) Cancel the regulation of finance and business not only in domestic but also internationally,
allowing the free market rule, and realizing capital to flow freely.
(2) Privatize government services directly provide the government agencies and government workers

began to appear, then its growing need a economic system, which can easily encourage the growth of
the bubble by borrowing and it was turned out that the financial system deregulated, short term capital

Casual Employment in Australia
Introduction Over the past decades, casual employment in Australia has become a phenomenon of
great concern. With the soaring numbers of casual employment, the debates about the benefits and
drawbacks of causal employment have become fiercer. Casualization is a very important form of
employment in Australia, which has been protected by workplace law. The majority of casual labor
force constantly contact with their potential employers to apply job and confirm the arrangement of

Of course, casual employment is not the only reason for problems in the human resource market.
There is no denying that causal workers are also important components of labor force, just like
permanent employees and self employed workers. However, most of people agree that causal labor
forces are the most vulnerable group in the job market. When it comes to the influence of casual
employment on the economy and individual enterprises, there is little agreement on this issue. Many
small companies strongly support casual employees, for the payment for casual employees is far lower
than the fixed employees. Some enterprises go even further, which hire the entire workforce from the
casual employment group. Apart from the reason that casual employment can save the cost of the
companies, flexibility is also an important reason for them to select casual workers. There are also
other managers who maintain that causal employees are not a wise choice for all the companies. This
is because many causal workers are poor in skill and productivity with low commitment to the
enterprise. Casual employment may meet the short term demand for both employees and employers,
but it may lead to the constraint of dynamic productivity and innovation. This is not in accordance
with the long run interests for employers. To distinguish the benefits of employers from the benefits of

Negative Effects Of Technology On Children
Smartphones, tablets, computers and televisions alike have all become a major part of modern culture.
They inform, entertain, amuses and assist us every day with news articles, videos and funny blurbs.
But technology s potentially harmful effect on young children has been a concern of adults for years.
Whether brainwashing children, ruining their eyes or making them violent, the list of the damaging
results of tech use grows longer by the minute. Parents feel the need to limit their child s exposure to
the provocative screens before the damage is irreversible. The concern is completely valid; technology
has the ability to entirely capture a child s attention in almost an unlimited fashion, there is endless
amounts of information for a young mind to absorb. Access to this sea of knowledge could keep a
child from experiencing more physical and interactive activities that build up other important skills
and developments in children. But this sea of knowledge does in fact hold many benefits for kids.
Much of the teachings that daycares and schools provide are on these devices and early access could
help put a kid ahead of the pack. In addition, because of the tremendous impact of technology and its
involvement with humans, kids who learn to use phones and tablets early will be more exposed and
adjusted to an everchanging world. In essence, the dangers of young children overusing electronics
exist but are not life threatening, when use of technology is managed properly children

A culture is a set of characteristics of a particular group of people. It emcopasses language, social

Verdean. I was born and raised in Cape Verde until I was fourteen. My country was colonized by the
Portuguese, so there are a lot common culture aspects between Cape Verde and Portugal . One of the
results of colonization was implementation of catholicism as a primary religion in my country. It was
not until recent years that other forms of religious started to emerge in Cape Verde. However, for some
people who strong practice catholicism there is a strong push back against those who aren t from the

Building A Safer Healthcare System Essay
Discussion
Current healthcare practices today have largely been influenced by the Institute of Medicine (IOM)
1999 report, To Err is Human: Building a Safer Healthcare System. This report delineated many
weaknesses in the practice of medicine regarding the safety of patients within the healthcare industry.
This report has increased public awareness regarding the need for transparency around reporting
serious safety events as well as the need to implement best practices in an effort to increase patient
safety. Additionally, Medicare initiatives support the need for increased quality of care as hospitals
will suffer financial loss due to declining reimbursement for patient. Patient satisfaction and safety are
imperative in order for care to be provided. One effort which can help support improvements in
patient safety and quality of care is through hourly or intentional rounding on patients. This rounding
practice amplifies the nurse patient relationship, provides continuity of care, increased safety, and
service excellence. Intentional rounding or rounding with a purpose, can be a success, as long as
nursing staff understand the full implications and the potential for positive outcomes, and take
complete ownership of the rounding initiative. Leadership and nurses need to work collaboratively
and be cognizant of each other s role pertaining to the delivery of care regarding this practice. The
purpose of this research is to depict the importance of hourly rounding as a

Killer Angels by Michael Shaara
Most people think of the Civil War as a military battle between the North and South. Without studying

Round Top was very moving and courageous. I realized all the things the men had to give up and how
amazing it was to see that they still had hope they would win and be back home with their families. I

Parkinson s Disease Dementia are conversely overlooked as possible diagnoses. Special attention to
clinical presentation and the use of diagnostic tests (such as the MRI) and assessment scales (like the
Mini Mental State Exam) aid in distinguishing between these diseases, and therefore better the
evaluation process. There are other telltale markers that aid in assessing these diseases, as well.
Alzheimer s Disease often presents with a slow decline in memory, while Vascular Dementia patients
experiences sharp declines in cognition. Patients suffering from Parkinson s Disease Dementia and
Dementia with Lewy bodies often present with symptoms of psychoses and hallucinations as well as
cognitive impairments, and they differ in the onset time of dementia. The early detection of cognitive
decline is important not only for the treatment but also for improving the caregiver burden of these
patients. Management of these disorders is focused on symptomatic relief, but it is also important to
minimize life style risk factors for all dementias.

population, there are many other explanations and clinical diagnoses that

Cultural Issues Of Assisted Living
To begin, there are two main issues that make it difficult for American Muslims to accept assisted
living facilities for their elderly parents or support the development of assisted living and nursing care
facilities. The first issue has to do with their culture and how unique it is. The Muslim culture has
specific guidelines on how they are supposed to live according to the Quran. One cultural issue is that
Muslims are taught to respect their elders, but it was never explained in the Quran how to do that
exactly. Many Muslims are torn between putting their parents in a nursing home because they can t
give them the right care, or they succumb to peer pressure and do what other Muslims are doing
keeping their parents at home with them, which

Research Methodology Of The Research Approach
This chapter outlines an overview of the research approach adopted in the study as well as the research
methodology and the practical approach adopted to achieve the set objectives of the study. In addition,
it also highlights the data collection methods, ethical considerations, and data analysis. Case studies
will be used as a research strategy as they are distinguished by their ability to investigate a
phenomenon which, in this case, will be the upgrading heritage buildings through sustainable designs
and construction. The chapter also rationalizes the sampling approaches and the research methods
used for collecting the data in the case studies. To achieve the objectives, data for this study will be
collected using two qualitative research methods: document analysis and semi structured interviews
which were used to give a scholarly definition of the term sustainable adaptation to heritage sites and
buildings which is part of the objectives. The chapter also looks at the qualitative analysis techniques
which will be used to analyze the data.
3.2 Research approach
The difference between qualitative and quantitative research is basically a methodological issue and
the researcher s decision to choose a specific research approach should be based on its suitability to
answer the established research questions (Bryman, 1992). A qualitative approach according to
(Creswell, 2003) should be a logical subjective approach and should be able to describe experiences

Immigrants Shape American Identity
You are not White, Black, Yellow or Brown you are an American If your color of skin, your race, or
where you came from do not matter can you be an American and how can you shape America?
Immigrants have helped shape American identity by rethinking race and creating a new image of what
it means to be American. In the article, Blaxicans and Other Reinvented Americans Richard Rodriguez
illustrates, ... black over white, for example. But this girl said that her mother was Mexican and her
father was American. This girl said Blaxicans. Richard Rodriguez demonstrates how the immigrants
reinvent new races by combining two races making one races. The identity of these immigrants shapes
American by having many races that are invented by immigrants

The Perks Of Being A Wallflower, By Stephen Chbosky
Adlai Stevenson s once stated that ...the truth is often unpopular... In other words, most people are not
willing to face the truth that are unpleasant to them. Certainly, I agree with this statement and believe
that people always do not want to accept the truth. In particular, two literary works that support this
view point are The Pearl, a novella by John Steinbeck and The Perks of Being a Wallflower, an
epistolary novel by Stephen Chbosky. In these two books, both authors successfully portray two
characters, Kino and Charlie, who live in denial and avoid to face the reality. In The Pearl, Kino is
depicted as a dynamic character who lives in a shadow of denial. As an indigent fisherman, after he
finds the pearl of the world, the avarice drives him to crazy. He says that after he sells the pearl, his
family will become rich and he will get a rifle. Yet, the truth he doesn t face is that at that period of
time, they are still living under colonization and it is impossible for his family to get a better life, not
even a gun. When he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

remember the truth that he was molested by Aunt Helen until Sam, Charlie s favorite person, too,

psychological problem, but also his friend, Brad, refuses to accept the fact. Brad and Patrick are gay

The Protest Song By Charles Albert Tindley
The protest song selected for this report was We Shall Overcome (Various Artists, 1945) written by
various artists, with lyrics originating from an older activist s hymn. This report will cover the history,
purpose, lasting effects, and the value of We Shall Overcome and its predecessor I ll Overcome
Someday . We Shall Overcome the protest song has found itself tied to multiple social movements,
however, its origin has its roots planted in the civil rights movement. After researching about this song
I came across the fact that the lyrics and the style of the song originated from I ll Overcome Some Day
, a hymn created by Charles Albert Tindley, An East Coast Methodist Minister, in 1901. Charles
Tindley was the son of an African American slave father and free mother. It wasn t until the mid 1940s
(ten years after Charles had passed on, leaving behind a lifetime of community work and activism)
that we see the first rendition of the modern We Shall Overcome as a protest song by a tobacco and
food union group. A few short years later in 1947 this song s title was recognized as We Shall
Overcome in an edition of people s songs bulletin , a publication directed by Pete Seeger, who is very
well known for his rendition of this song and many others. This song is an anthem, a chant if you will.
Its purpose is not to drag attention to a specific event, such as 41 Shots (Springsteen, 2000) where
Bruce Springsteen emotionally portrays the events of a fatal

Shoe Horn Sonata Distinctive Visual Essay example
Distinctively visual texts use a variety of techniques to convey the experiences during the war. In John
Misto s 1996 play The Shoe Horn Sonata which is about women nurses enduring Japanese POW
camps, such distinctive experiences as power and survival are shown through techniques like lighting,
projecting image, sound, symbols, dialogue and body language. In Kenneth Slessor s 1942 poem
Beach Burial he also comments about survival in war and the power in distinctively visual ways
through particular words. He relies upon adjectives, personification and the use of imagery to describe
the suffering. In Nick Ut s photograph from 1973 The Napalm Girl of Trangbang which is about the

In scene 8, sound is used to show the power of the Japanese. Shiela says and we could hear you
scream even by the fence and it wasn t a human sound by them this imagery and sound is used to
show a mental picture of bridie screaming which unsettles the audience. It reveals her deep suffering
and the inhumanity of her captors in not helping her. This visually highlights the complete sense of
power the Japanese had over both Sheila and Bridie. The distinctive experience of power and survival
is shown in Kenneth Slessor s poem, Beach Burial The use of colour imagery and similes of the men s
inscription being as blue as drowned men s lips and vast number of dead sailors the blue lips of the
drowned bodies is disturbing as it vividly paints a picture of their lifelessness in the audiences mind.

In the second stanza the distinctive experience of power is present. The use of the technique of

the soldiers were strong, loyal and had enough power within a degree to assist fellow soldiers. The use
of personification to create sound sob and clubbing of the gunfire This leads the audience to

Cummins Diesel Engine Essay
The Cummins diesel engine was manufactured in the year 1919 by its creator Clessie Cummins. The
Cummins was put in a variety of vehicles and the most common are in the dodge ram 2500, 3500,
4500, and 5500 series rams. It is also put into more heavy duty trucks such as Peterbilt semis. The
reason people choose Cummins over Chevy s Duramax or Ford s Powerstroke is because Cummins
are built to last longer meaning they can go more hours without maintenance. The Cummins diesel
engines have several different designs, and a number of different models, and assembling one takes
money, time, effort, and knowledge. The Cummins diesel engines has several different designs and
models of engines from 5.9 liters in 1989, to the modern day 6.7 liter engines.

Banking Concept Of Education Summary
In Paulo Freire s essay The Banking Concept of Education, he discusses the flaws he has seen in the
education system. Specifically he argues that in most education systems the students are just empty
receptacles being filled by their teachers, there is no dialog between the teacher and students. Freire
thinks that in education learning should not be a one way thing, there should be a dialog going on
between the teacher and students. Another big point Freire emphasizes in his essay is active learning,
so that everyone is learning and participating. In Freire s essay he proposes a new way of learning/a
new concept of learning called the problem posing concept. Another point Freire makes in his problem
posing concept is that education is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Freire feels that the students should not be passive and that they should always be actively learning but
also always helping others learn as well. He also thinks that students should be able to voice their
opinions when learning and also be able to challenge others knowledge and not just accept and repeat
the facts that are being told to them. Additionally, Freire thinks that all learning should be active.
Active learning is a big element to truly learning. If you are not actively having a dialog and learning
from each other, you are using the banking concept of learning, only receiving information and not
challenging the knowledge. In problem posing education people develop their power to perceive
critically the way they exist in the world with which and in which they find themselves, the problem
posing model is used to help students think more critically and in depth about what they are learning.
The problem posing education model regards dialog as indispensable to the act of cognition which
unveils reality. Freire wants the students to be able to form their own opinions and thoughts on
subjects, not just repeat what was told to them about the topic. Freire s goal with the problem posing
concept is to get students to actively and critically think about what they are learning and why they are
learning about it. the teacher cannot think for her students, nor can she impose her thoughts on them,
this is why students need to be actively thinking, they need to form their own opinions to truly

Pop Youth Subculture Research Paper
Adolescence is a time of transition and growing independence. However the experiences that young
adults seek today are quite different to those in previous decades.Mods, punks, rockers, flappers,
hippies: there was a time when young people made their loyalties clear by the way they dressed. A
popular film of the 1970s called Grease based on the early Australian subculture reflects this notion.
These subcultures came about at the end of World War II when the west was marked by a rise in
infrastructural development, prosperity and wealth of the working class. The popular Rocker

The Causes And Consequences Of The Iraq War
Time leading up to the start Iraq War, the United States had tried to remove or limit Saddam Hussein s
power by supporting uprisings and rebellion by President George H. Bush, example of that is in
February 1991, as American forces were driving Saddam s troops out of Kuwait (Barry Lando /
AlterNet, 2007). Later; President Bill Clinton ordered air strikes against Iraq because it refused to
cooperate with United Nations (U.N.) weapons inspectors. ( Clinton orders air attack on Iraq ). So; we
have been in conflicts with Iraq for years before the events of 9/11/2001. Reasons stemmed mainly
from suspicions of Bin Laden along with Al Qaeda been linked to Iraq. The Iraq War and the overall
objective, and Consequences would be put troops in Iraq and cost the nation financially along with the
ultimate American sacrifice.
There are many reasons for the Iraq War before and after the terrorist attack on 9/11. There was also
an attack on a U.S warship the USS Cole, October 12, 2000, which was linked to the Al Qaeda
terrorist network ( USS Cole attacked by terrorists ). Many were suspecting links between Iraq and Al
Qaeda; so, the United States said Iraq was supporting al Qaeda (Bassil,2012). One more reason is the
capture of Bin Laden, who was leader al Qaeda. Furthermore, reason the fear of the weapons of mass
destruction like VX gas, mustard gas, thiodiglycol, as well as tactical ballistic missiles. The last reason
was to remove Saddam Hussein from the power of Iraq. The Senate

Gold Diggers Of 1933 Analysis
The classic film Gold Diggers Of 1933 is based in the era of the Great Depression, the aftermath of
World War I which lasted from 1929 to 1939 thus the result to World War II. The Great Depression
occurred during the time when films were evolving and becoming hits, but made it hard for film
producers and companies since money was tight, unless you were rich and born into wealth like Brad
Roberts in the film, who could easily just loan the money to the film makers. The time period and film
go hand in hand as it relates to the time where life was tough in America and money wasn t a easy
thing to have access at all times. Clearly the film Gold Diggers Of 1933 indicates the time period of
American life and The Great Depression
Throughout the film many references are made about the era, since the movie is a film within a film
and in the beginning scene filmmaker, producer Barney Hopkins is going through practice with the
show girls who are singing Were In The Money in the musical which talks about the Depression era
ending and being long gone, Ginger Rogers sings And so we re in the money Look up, the skies are
sunny Old man depression, you are through You done us wrong . Evidently that is not the case since
right after the song ends, the police make way into the set and shut it all down, due to Hopkins not
having enough money to pay for bills, fees and production cost to carry forward with the musical. It is
clear that no one could afford anything and unfortunately drove

Essay on The Great Plague Of Europe
The Great Plague killed nearly half of the European population during the fourteenth century. A
plague is a widespread illness. The Illness was also known as the Black Death . Most of the European
people believed the plague was the beginning of the end of the world. They were scarcely equipped
and unready for what was to be entailed. It was by far one of the worst epidemics yet to be seen in
those times.
The Great Plague of Europe made its way all throughout the continent and its population. The plague
started on the western side of Europe; off the coast of Italy. It arrived by sea between the fall of 1347
and through early spring 1348. Italy was affected so hard that only one out of seven victims would

While others, were only effected by direct contact. It was thought to have been sustainable by even
touching clothing or other such items of the infected. Conditions of the fourteenth century were also a
contributing factor. Famine had been an arising issue due to the number of overpopulation. Because of
this, their immune systems began to weaken. Europeans were susceptible to disease because many
people lived in crowded surroundings in an era when personal hygiene was not considered important
(Dowling). The cities were unsanitary and littered with germs, making it easier to sustain such
diseases. Unhealthy habits were conducted and medical advances had not yet been made. Doctors
themselves had not known what to advise. No prescriptions had worked. There was no cure to what
was happening. Most were not even aware of what was impending upon them. Anything that could
would be tried, in hopes of living. People were becoming desperate.
The great plague came in three different forms. The types of illness differed in symptoms, spread and
sufferings. The bubonic plague was the diseases most common form. It was named this due to
swelling called buboes of the victim s lymph nodes. These tumors could range in size from that of an
egg to that of an apple (The Black Death). The longest expectancy with this form of illness didn t
often exceed one week. The second variation of plague was known as the pneumatic

You can only describe him as a man of determination. Someone who demonstrates
extraordinary courage in the face of injustice and inhumanity. He had a resolute intent to do what is

Deadly Unna Essay
Phillip Gwyne s novel, Deadly Unna? explores how the main character Gary Black, a white boy from
the Port also known as Blacky grows up by not agreeing to racism. Blacky experiences prejudice and
friendship from both the aboriginal and white communities. Blacky begins to develop a greater
tolerance for aborigines and their culture, and then he further attempts to apply this knowledge to the
intolerant and prejudiced town in which he lives. The boy who helps him shift in his opinion of
aborigines is a local aborigine named Dumby Red , who lives in the aboriginal missionary The Point .

joke before and laughed at it, but it did not seem funny now because of his new friendship with
Dumby and Clarence. This shows how Blacky has grown and how he has no humour for racisms.
Blacky s thoughts about prejudice in the town are confirmed after the football presentations. When the

his town could go this far and be so racist, Dumby had contributed so much to the team all season, he

turning point of Blacky s view of the town. Blacky realized how much the Goonyas (white people) in
his town hated the Nungas. Another example of Prejudice is when Blacky told Pickles and Darcy

Evaluation Of The Network Services
1. Goal
Going forward with lab 2, the focus was placed on core services seen on enterprise networks, what
they do to keep the network running efficiently, and how to centrally monitor them. Some of these
services (DNS and DHCP) were review from what was learned in the Network Services class, but by
taking the basic concepts and applying them to an already running network instead of creating a new
environment specifically to test them, students learned valuable lessons on how to integrate important
services into an already thriving network. At the end of lab 1, all virtual machines set up were given a
static IP address which could be marked down in the wiki and referenced by other machines if needed,
such as the Opsview software which needed to know the location of the other machines for monitoring
purposes. With DHCP and DNS now in place, the focus of how to locate resources on the network was
moved from logical IP addressing to that of domain names. DHCP is now dynamically giving out any
address within its given range (a pool from our subnet), and it might not always be the same every
time, meaning two things had to change. The first is reservations on the ISC DHCP server so that the
same address is given out to systems already in place based on what their static addresses were
previously, and the second is letting resolver software on the virtual machine s query the new DNS
server for the IP address of a VM, rather than someone having to lookup what the address of the

The Drilling Of Fshore Drilling Industry
The offshore drilling industry can be split into 5 key markets: upgrade market, contract drilling
market, second hand market, scrap market and contract drilling market. Among them contract drilling
market is most important, because it ensures smooth cash flow between markets. drilling units is
summarised in the table below.
The table above describes cash flow within offshore drilling markets. Contract drilling market leases
drilling units to O G companies to drill or service wells, in turn they receive day rates. The day rate is
the daily price to lease a rig and includes the use of the rig and its crew but does not include most of
the other costs associated with drilling and completing a well (e.g., casing, drilling fluids, logistics,
well evaluation, etc.). The drilling service industry is the largest and most closely followed of the five
markets and drives the activities of investors in the other markets.
The new build market uses shipyard labour and capital to convert steel and third party equipment into
rigs. Drilling contractors enter into turnkey contracts with shipyards for the construction and delivery
of one or more rigs, or yards may build on speculation. The new build market is primarily Asian with
major shipyards in Singapore, South Korea, and China.
The upgrade market is a ship repair market which both upgrades and maintains rigs. Upgrades
improve and modernize rig technology and represent significant capital expenditures.

Fiber optic communications systems are light wave systems that employ optical fibers for information
transmission.
Fig. BL vs Year
A commonly used figure of merit for communication systems is the bit rate distance product. (BL),
where B is the bit rate and L is the repeater spacing. Figure shows that the BL product has increased
with technical advances.
II. OPTICAL COMMUNICATION SYSTEM Modern fiber optic communication systems generally
include an optical transmitter to convert an electrical signal into an optical signal to send into the
optical fiber, a cable containing bundles of multiple optical fibers that is routed through underground
conduits and buildings, multiple kinds of amplifiers, and an optical receiver to recover the signal as an
electrical signal. The information transmitted is typically digital information generated by computers,
telephone systems, and cable television companies.
Figure shows a generic block diagram of an optical communication system. It consists of a transmitter,
a communication channel and a receiver. Optical communication systems can be classified into two
broad categories.

Essay On Over Criminalization
So what exactly is over criminalization? In technical terms it is the act of imposing unbalanced
penalties with no relation to the gravity of the offense committed or the culpability of the wrong doer.
In other words, the United states is excessively using and misusing the statutes of criminal law. This is
to include unnecessary criminal statutes such as those in the business realm. For example, transporting
orchids without proper paper work or failure to ship lobster tail in plastic bags. The most redundant
one is the failure to return a library book. Laws in today s society are here to protect us as a whole as
well as maintain order in this country. However, we have an innumerable amount of laws, mostly old
laws, that serve no purpose in this new world we live in. These laws are ones most of us have never
even heard of because they are rarely enforced. As a result, these statutes can legally be implemented

United States case. In this case a dispute arose when a man named Morissette who was a local fruit
stand operator, trucker, and scrap iron collector, removed and converted used bomb casings from
government owned property. Although Morissette claimed to be operating under the belief that the
casings had been abandoned, the government indicted and charged him with unlawfully, wilfully and
knowingly stealing and converting U.S. government property (Curtis, B. 2015). Everyone makes
honest mistakes. This should result in prison time. With criminal law, proof without reasonable doubt
should be required to decide an individual did in fact acted with the intent to violate the law. When
you have those who unwittingly commit acts that so happen to be crimes and therefore prosecuted for
these offenses, not only are the lives of these individuals impacted, but now you have society whose
respect and fairness for our justice system is now diminished. This is an issue that should concern our

Witch Trials In The Late Medieval Era
It s the turn of an era, the Late Medieval era is ending and the Early Modern era is beginning, the
protestant reformation was happening causing widespread fear in Christians around the world as the
fear that the devil could be anywhere leading Christians away from the light of their lord, The most
feared sect of devil worshippers were the witches and sorcerers, who were believed to have given their
soul to the devil in return for wicked powers beyond the understanding and sight of man. The first
allowance of witch trials was by the Pope Innocent VIII s with his issuing of the Summis desiderantes
affectibus (in the late Medieval era) which declared that witches were real and that the Inquisition had
papal authority to try them, In 1542 England passed a law making it a crime to be a witch with the
punishment being death, later it was repealed, but was restored by a new act in 1562, Many laws and
decrees like these were issued throughout the Christian world from 1484 to the end of the witch trials
in 1782.
The early days of the Witch Trials in Europe and America were marked with many small trials held in
villages throughout both continents with the first being recognized as the burning of accused witches
in Valais Switzerland in 1428 with the estimated prosecuted being somewhere from 100 to 200 this is
the recorded estimate until 1430 thereafter there are no records, this occurred after delegates from
seven districts who urged authorities to investigate for sign of witchcraft

  • 2. 1837 Rebellion Research Paper The Impact of the Rebellions of 1837 38 By:Ishan Imagine a party taking place in a courtyard in the early 19th century. Everyone s having fun, but after a while, the mood darkens as British loyalist forces close in on the courtyard and start a full blown stone fight just because it was a Canadian political party. This event actually happened right before the 1837 Rebellion! The British loyalists attacked Canadian politicians with stones! After this fight, the Canadian politicians decided to start planning an insurrection big enough to rock British political rule over both Lower Canada and Upper Canada. The attack was later implemented on December 7, 1837. This battle was the first time that ordinary people demanded change. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This also happened after the Act of Union. There were three social classes in 19th century Canada, the upper class, middle class, and lower class. The upper class were the wealthiest citizens that owned many acres of land and a large estate. They would hire many people in the lower class as slaves that would clean up the house and cook for them. Instead of working on farms, men and women would work in or own businesses in the city. The middle class would have acres of land too, but less than the upper class. The middle had one or two slaves and a large house. They would also work in businesses down in the city. The lower class were just above slaves. They owned acres of land, but significantly less than the middle and upper class. They would have a farmhouse of decent size, and large families to make work on the farm easier. Because of their poverty, they would only work on the farm. The lower class were also expected to build a road in front of their homes. This ranking system was established by the British. The British would charge high taxes, mainly affecting the lower class, who had a hard time affording it. The middle and upper class would not care. The lower class eventually decided to fight along with the angry politicians, known as the Rebels. After the Canadians were met with defeat, the British noticed that the way the colonies were run was not good and had to be fixed to gain the Canadian lower ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. A Comparison Of Louis Armstrong And Paul Desmond Louis Armstrong and Paul Desmond Louis Armstrong: He is known to The King of Jazz as Louis Satchmo. He was actually one of the most outstanding personalities in the early jazz. He is believed to be the one defining jazz music. The significance of jazz according to him is creation of a new something of an ancient, making. He gave a helping hand in the creation plus the representation of a brand new element of a twist on the popular music. According to McClendon 2015, when most of us listen to the world contrasted leader, we tend to think of a being which is extraordinary. A human being that is completely contrasting to the others. We have seen and heard about very many leaders in the past decades but Louis Armstrong is a great one. His leading of a great life of music was portrayed in diverse ways. He brought his own style of music that actually became so loved and cherished around the entire globe. However, he was born on August 4th, 1901 in the New Orleans. He made tremendous achievements in the course of his life and in the course of doing what he was comfortable with, he became a leader of sound mind cherished and respected by everybody despite the troublesome painful years he had while still a young boy. Students examine a financial ratio analysis for Home Depot that acts as a template to generate a comparable ratio analysis for Lowe s. Relative to the WACC calculated in case Exhibit 2, Home Depot is beating its benchmark (12.3 percent), while Lowe s is below its benchmark (11.6 percent). The class may comment on the justification for differences in the cost of capital estimates for firms that appear so similar in their risk profiles. Using a DuPont type decomposition, the instructor can use the available ratio analysis to peel back the differences in operating performance in margins and turnover. The instructor can also use this time to build understanding of the economic content of financial ratios. A Look At Non Alzheimer s Disease A Look At Non Alzheimer s Disease Dementias By Katie Bergstrom, PA S ABSTRACT: The most common tendency in assessing patients who display signs of dementia is to evaluate them for Alzheimer s Disease. This means that Vascular Dementia, Dementia with Lewy Bodies, and Parkinson s Disease Dementia are conversely overlooked as possible diagnoses. Special attention to clinical presentation and the use of diagnostic tests (such as the MRI) and assessment scales (like the Mini Mental State Exam) aid in distinguishing between these diseases, and therefore better the evaluation process. There are other telltale markers that aid in assessing these diseases, as well. Alzheimer s Disease often presents with a slow decline in memory, while Vascular Dementia patients experiences sharp declines in cognition. Patients suffering from Parkinson s Disease Dementia and Dementia with Lewy bodies often present with symptoms of psychoses and hallucinations as well as cognitive impairments, and they differ in the onset time of dementia. We Shall Overcome the protest song has found itself tied to multiple social movements, however, its origin has its roots planted in the civil rights movement. After researching about this song I came across the fact that the lyrics and the style of the song originated from I ll Overcome Some Day , a hymn created by Charles Albert Tindley, An East Coast Methodist Minister, in 1901. Charles Tindley was the son of an African American slave father and free mother. It wasn t until the mid 1940s (ten years after Charles had passed on, leaving behind a lifetime of community work and activism) that we see the first rendition of the modern We Shall Overcome as a protest song by a tobacco and food union group. A few short years later in 1947 this song s title was recognized as We Shall Overcome in an edition of people s songs bulletin , a publication directed by Pete Seeger, who is very well known for his rendition of this song and many others. This song is an anthem, a chant if you will. Its purpose is not to drag attention to a specific event, such as 41 Shots (Springsteen, 2000) where Bruce Springsteen emotionally portrays the events of a fatal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In John Misto s 1996 play The Shoe Horn Sonata which is about women nurses enduring Japanese POW camps, such distinctive experiences as power and survival are shown through techniques like lighting, projecting image, sound, symbols, dialogue and body language. In Kenneth Slessor s 1942 poem Beach Burial he also comments about survival in war and the power in distinctively visual ways through particular words. He relies upon adjectives, personification and the use of imagery to describe the suffering. Shiela says and we could hear you scream even by the fence and it wasn t a human sound by them this imagery and sound is used to show a mental picture of bridie screaming which unsettles the audience. It reveals her deep suffering and the inhumanity of her captors in not helping her. This visually highlights the complete sense of power the Japanese had over both Sheila and Bridie. The distinctive experience of power and survival is shown in Kenneth Slessor s poem, Beach Burial The use of colour imagery and similes of the men s inscription being as blue as drowned men s lips and vast number of dead sailors the blue lips of the drowned bodies is disturbing as it vividly paints a picture of their lifelessness in the audiences mind. The use of the technique of imagery and emotive words to pluck them from the shallows and bury them in burrows tells us that the soldiers were strong, loyal and had enough power within a degree to assist fellow soldiers. • 28. Banking Concept Of Education Summary In Paulo Freire s essay The Banking Concept of Education, he discusses the flaws he has seen in the education system. Specifically he argues that in most education systems the students are just empty receptacles being filled by their teachers, there is no dialog between the teacher and students. Freire thinks that in education learning should not be a one way thing, there should be a dialog going on between the teacher and students. Another big point Freire emphasizes in his essay is active learning, so that everyone is learning and participating. In Freire s essay he proposes a new way of learning/a new concept of learning called the problem posing concept. Another point Freire makes in his problem posing concept is that education is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Freire feels that the students should not be passive and that they should always be actively learning but also always helping others learn as well. He also thinks that students should be able to voice their opinions when learning and also be able to challenge others knowledge and not just accept and repeat the facts that are being told to them. Additionally, Freire thinks that all learning should be active. Active learning is a big element to truly learning. If you are not actively having a dialog and learning from each other, you are using the banking concept of learning, only receiving information and not challenging the knowledge. In problem posing education people develop their power to perceive critically the way they exist in the world with which and in which they find themselves, the problem posing model is used to help students think more critically and in depth about what they are learning. The problem posing education model regards dialog as indispensable to the act of cognition which unveils reality. Freire wants the students to be able to form their own opinions and thoughts on subjects, not just repeat what was told to them about the topic. Freire s goal with the problem posing concept is to get students to actively and critically think about what they are learning and why they are learning about it. the teacher cannot think for her students, nor can she impose her thoughts on them, this is why students need to be actively thinking, they need to form their own opinions to truly ... However the experiences that young adults seek today are quite different to those in previous decades.Mods, punks, rockers, flappers, hippies: there was a time when young people made their loyalties clear by the way they dressed. A popular film of the 1970s called Grease based on the early Australian subculture reflects this notion. These subcultures came about at the end of World War II when the west was marked by a rise in infrastructural development, prosperity and wealth of the working class. Gold Diggers Of 1933 Analysis The classic film Gold Diggers Of 1933 is based in the era of the Great Depression, the aftermath of World War I which lasted from 1929 to 1939 thus the result to World War II. The Great Depression occurred during the time when films were evolving and becoming hits, but made it hard for film producers and companies since money was tight, unless you were rich and born into wealth like Brad Roberts in the film, who could easily just loan the money to the film makers. The time period and film go hand in hand as it relates to the time where life was tough in America and money wasn t a easy thing to have access at all times. Clearly the film Gold Diggers Of 1933 indicates the time period of American life and The Great Depression Throughout the film many references are made about the era, since the movie is a film within a film and in the beginning scene filmmaker, producer Barney Hopkins is going through practice with the show girls who are singing Were In The Money in the musical which talks about the Depression era ending and being long gone, Ginger Rogers sings And so we re in the money Look up, the skies are sunny Old man depression, you are through You done us wrong . Europeans were susceptible to disease because many people lived in crowded surroundings in an era when personal hygiene was not considered important (Dowling). Goal Going forward with lab 2, the focus was placed on core services seen on enterprise networks, what they do to keep the network running efficiently, and how to centrally monitor them. Some of these services (DNS and DHCP) were review from what was learned in the Network Services class, but by taking the basic concepts and applying them to an already running network instead of creating a new environment specifically to test them, students learned valuable lessons on how to integrate important services into an already thriving network. At the end of lab 1, all virtual machines set up were given a static IP address which could be marked down in the wiki and referenced by other machines if needed, such as the Opsview software which needed to know the location of the other machines for monitoring purposes. With DHCP and DNS now in place, the focus of how to locate resources on the network was moved from logical IP addressing to that of domain names. DHCP is now dynamically giving out any address within its given range (a pool from our subnet), and it might not always be the same every time, meaning two things had to change. The first is reservations on the ISC DHCP server so that the same address is given out to systems already in place based on what their static addresses were previously, and the second is letting resolver software on the virtual machine s query the new DNS server for the IP address of a VM, rather than someone having to lookup what the address of the ... The Drilling Of Fshore Drilling Industry The offshore drilling industry can be split into 5 key markets: upgrade market, contract drilling market, second hand market, scrap market and contract drilling market. Among them contract drilling market is most important, because it ensures smooth cash flow between markets. drilling units is summarised in the table below. The table above describes cash flow within offshore drilling markets. Contract drilling market leases drilling units to O G companies to drill or service wells, in turn they receive day rates. The day rate is the daily price to lease a rig and includes the use of the rig and its crew but does not include most of the other costs associated with drilling and completing a well (e.g., casing, drilling fluids, logistics, well evaluation, etc.). The drilling service industry is the largest and most closely followed of the five markets and drives the activities of investors in the other markets. The new build market uses shipyard labour and capital to convert steel and third party equipment into rigs. Drilling contractors enter into turnkey contracts with shipyards for the construction and delivery of one or more rigs, or yards may build on speculation. The new build market is primarily Asian with major shipyards in Singapore, South Korea, and China. The upgrade market is a ship repair market which both upgrades and maintains rigs. Witch Trials In The Late Medieval Era It s the turn of an era, the Late Medieval era is ending and the Early Modern era is beginning, the protestant reformation was happening causing widespread fear in Christians around the world as the fear that the devil could be anywhere leading Christians away from the light of their lord, The most feared sect of devil worshippers were the witches and sorcerers, who were believed to have given their soul to the devil in return for wicked powers beyond the understanding and sight of man. The first allowance of witch trials was by the Pope Innocent VIII s with his issuing of the Summis desiderantes affectibus (in the late Medieval era) which declared that witches were real and that the Inquisition had papal authority to try them, In 1542 England passed a law making it a crime to be a witch with the punishment being death, later it was repealed, but was restored by a new act in 1562, Many laws and decrees like these were issued throughout the Christian world from 1484 to the end of the witch trials in 1782. The early days of the Witch Trials in Europe and America were marked with many small trials held in villages throughout both continents with the first being recognized as the burning of accused witches in Valais Switzerland in 1428 with the estimated prosecuted being somewhere from 100 to 200 this is the recorded estimate until 1430 thereafter there are no records, this occurred after delegates from seven districts who urged authorities to investigate for sign of witchcraft ...
