Capitalismo Agrario Economia Dependiente

Synthesizer in Popular Culture Music
Technology is gradually plays a part of abundance in popular music by continuously emerging songs
with the use of technological devices. With the experimental use of electronic music instrument, it
sparked a new development for artists to blend in synthesizer sound into their compositions and left a
mark in the music industry (Pinch and Bijsterveld, 2003, pp. 536 537). Synthesizer played a crucial
role in popular music through the impact of the mechanical instrument to deliver a new electronic
sound to inspire bands like Kraftwerk who played a critical role towards electronic music. As the
instrument matured quickly, it shaped up the modern music world progressively through the new
direction sound to have people forgetting the strange sound it once perceived from the listeners (
Champions of sound; Man and machine in perfect harmony, Kraftwerk were the Beatles with
synthesizers, says Mark Edwards , 2009, p. 29).
Background on synthesizer
The name synthesizer was first developed in 1958 for the RCA Mark II Synthesizer programmed from
paper tape. It was then adopted by several developers with the first commercialized synthesizer
created by Robert Moog in 1964 (Pinch and Bijsterveld, 2003, pp. 547 548). The possibility of using a
synthesizer could be endless to composite songs by shaping and exploring the music that may be
limited with two important key components presented behind most synthesizers (Howe, 1972, p. 121).
The first component is the explicit controls used

Role Of Ophelia In Hamlet
Ophelia In Hamlet In the play Hamlet, written by William Shakespeare, only two members of the cast
are female characters. Both represent the female gender, and part of the play revolves around the
character Ophelia and Prince Hamlet s relationship towards her. Ophelia is only present in five of the
twenty scenes in the play, and very little is known about her background. As the scholar Lee Edwards
points out, We can imagine Hamlet s story without Ophelia, but Ophelia literally has no story without
Hamlet (qtd. in Showalter 283). Despite of what seems like having a minimal role in the play, Ophelia
still holds much of the readers attention. She gains so much attention because her character and her
circumstances are so tragic and catastrophic. In her essay Representing Ophelia: Women, Madness,
and the Responsibilities of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The only way she sees how is by becoming mad, which eventually causes her death. As a mad woman,
Ophelia would not be bound by the societal restrictions of women; she could talk freely to some
extent. However, even in insanity she is not free. She still has no freedom of choice. Ophelia is
eventually regarded as irrational, and her words are not taken seriously and are taken to be simply mad
talk. Whereas Hamlet has the power to change his fate, Ophelia does not, and her death is considered
to be tragic because the only escape she sees from her oppression is madness and death. Her limited
options in a male controlled society and her realization of those limitations are what make Ophelia s
death the true tragedy of Hamlet. As Annette Wyandotte observes in one of her essays, One could
argue that Ophelia s death is the true tragedy of Hamlet. Without critiques, the audience might think
that Hamlet s faith and actions are the main tragic elements of the play, but Ophelia has much of a
bigger role than simply her life and love

The Destruction Of Coral Reefs
Few places are as teaming with life as coral reefs. However, this is all soon to change due to human
negligence. Human activity and stupidity is leading to the destruction of the vast majority of coral
reefs and is expected to continue to do so until coral reefs, as well as the species that reside in and
around them, are a thing of the past.
Coral reefs are extremely biologically and environmentally important (7). Not only are they home to
over a million species of fish, invertebrates, and algae currently occupying coral reefs but there could
be hundreds of thousands more species yet to be discovered (8). These reef dwelling species are food
to over a billion people around the globe. Coral is also used as a building material and is a major
tourist attraction, aiding the economies of communities bordering their coasts.
Humans are actively destroying reefs through processes such as destructive fishing, overfishing,
careless tourism, pollution, sedimentation, coral mining, coral bleaching, and global warming.
Destructive fishing destroys coral reefs and hinders their future production of fish and marine life. It
includes poison and explosive fishing. Poison fishing uses chemicals such as cyanide and is used
popularly by aquariums and traders to collect fish without killing them and is very popular in the
Philippines, Indonesia, and the islands of Micronesia. The fish are stunned by the chemicals and
therefore are easier to capture. This method poisons far more than the target

Brand Experience Created By The Feelings And Reactions...
According to (Brakus, et al,2009.) Brand experience created by the feelings and reactions associated
with the brand. These feelings are brought about by brand design, communication, environment and
brand identity. Brand experience is majorly centered on branding than other product concepts like
brand personality, attitudes, values, equity, and association. The most important thing for a consumer
today is whether the brand can add value to their lives through positive experiences. Morrison and
Crane (2009) argue that there is an emerging trend in consumer behavior and marketing with
consumers purchasing products and services based on the experiences of what is being sold. Many
researchers have concluded that customers look for services that will leave a positive experience in
their lives. This has led to an increased interest to markets who want to give their clients a memorable
experience. Brand experience leads to consumer trust, loyalty, and satisfaction.
DIMENSIONS OF BRAND EXPERIENCE
Brakus, et al., (2009), states that there are four aspects of the brand experience. The four dimensions
are affective, behavioral, sensory and intellectual dimensions.
AFFECTIVE DIMENSION
Zarantonello and Schmitt (2010), concludes that the affective dimension consists of the feeling created
by products and services and the emotional attachment of the consumers to these brands. They further
suggest that when consumers have a greater affective brand experience they tend to think that the

The Pig Who Sang At The Moon By Jeffery Mason
In the essay, The Pig Who Sang to the Moon by Jeffery Mason, he points out that many farmed animas
are getting slaughtered for food.He explains that farm animals have feelings and consciousness as
humans in his essay. Farmed animals are dealing with unbearable pain for human to eat. In his essay,
he proves us with his brilliant experiences observing farmed animals such as pigs, cows, she
eps, goats, ducks and chickens.Farmed animals have unique qualities of their own.Masson points out in
his essay that we don t acknowledge all farmed animals as the way we acknowledge dogs and
cats.Masson wants readers to think about the emotions and qualities of farmed animals. He persuades
the readers to become vegetarian so farmed animals can live a peaceful and happy life.Masson wants
people to stop exploring farm animals in many forms . That is one of the reason i assume why he
wrote this essay..Animals needs are ignored and they get treated awfully. He explains that billions of
animals that are farmed and slaughtered for human to eat have emotional and intelligent lives.
Fist, what draws my attention in his essay is he organized this essay by each chapter talking about
different kind of animals , and how animals have to suffer for human consumer ,and he talks about
emotions of animals .He also shows us that animals are similar to human beings,However, they have
to suffer horrible from the circumstances in which they are farmed and slaughtered. He also pointed

Historical Inaccuracies In Kingdom Of Heaven
In the movie Kingdom of Heaven here were some historical inaccuracies. The producers main goal is
to make money. They will change things up to make it more interesting. Also, this movie was during
the second crusades, and some of the weapons, like the longbow, were not being used yet. The land is
important to both Christians and Muslims because it s the Holy Land. I will be explaining the
inaccuracies of the longbow, Jerusalem geography, and the process in becoming a knight. The
longbow was invented in 1180 by Celts in Wales. The English military started using the longbow
around 1300 s. The average person could shoot 2 3 times per minute, and a very experienced
longbowman could shoot up to 20 per minute. The longbow was stronger than a

The Greatest Hero Figure Of Ancient Mesopotamia Essay
It is reasonable that the origin of interests and concerns of societies would fascinate many because of
the ability to learn about how the interests have been created and evolved. Learning about interests can
bring knowledge about how people in the past had believed in and how it is thought of compared to
today s society and culture. The best known individual of Mesopotamia was Gilgamesh. He was in a
cycle of stories called Epic of Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh was the greatest hero figure of ancient
Mesopotamia. Though the stories focus on the adventures of both Gilgamesh and his friend Enkidu,
the stories explored themes like ambition and the longing for immortality. These themes reflected the
interests of the urban based society that emerged in Mesopotamia. In Mesopotamia there was a quest
for order, a formation of a complex society and cultural traditions, broad influence of the society, and
Indo European migrations. There was a quest for order in Mesopotamia. During the fourth millennium
B.C.E., human population increased. Through adaptation they created states and governmental
machinery. Sumerians from the land of Sumer were dominant in Mesopotamia. In Sumer population
increased likely because of agricultural potential. There were new arrivals who were Semitic people.
Sumerians built the world s first cities. There were Sumerian cities that then established states. There
were palaces, temples and defensive walls. The impressive buildings were ziggurats which housed

Jackie Robinson Perseverance
Has anyone ever advocated for you or anything you respect? Although Jackie Robinson, Melba Patillo
Beals, and Helen Keller advocated for different things, the three did make life changing turning points
to change their countries for the better. They all had one thing in common despite their differences;
perseverance. But what actions of perseverance did they commit to? For a long time, only white
people were in the major leagues. Until, however, Jackie Robinson defied this and made a change for
the better. He was the first African American in America to be in the major leagues of baseball,
although many people did not agree with this. This is shown when we see that white people had yelled
insults and racial slurs at him during his games, It hadn t been that easy to fight the resentment
expressed by players on other teams, by the team owners, or by bigoted fans screaming n . The man
who helped him get to the major leagues team, The Brooklyn Dodgers, was the president of the team

Varying Interpretations of Heart of Darkness and Apocalypse Now
The true meaning of varying interpretations comes alive when one compares the two film versions of
Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad. Heart of Darkness and Apocalypse Now have the same basic
outline and underlying themes, however the plots, characters, settings, time, purposes, and points of
view differ enough to create two extremely different effects and two entirely opposite movies. Both
movies depict an insanity: of man in Heart of Darkness and of war in Apocalypse Now. It is ironic that
Heart of Darkness, the movie replica of the novel, is a boring, slow paced flop of a production, while
Apocalypse Now, a loosely based film, had great success and audience ... Show more content on

Marlow watches Kurtz die and whisper his last words, The horror! The horror! Marlow returns home

belief that Kurtz was a great man. The story flashes back to present time where the Nellie is sailing
away into the heart of darkness (Heart of Darkness: Theme/Symbol/Allusion/Foreshadow).
The similarities between the novel and movie versions of Heart of Darkness are numerous, right down
to exact quotations, costumes, and scenes. In the opening scene, Marlow describes his expedition into
the Congo as the farthest point of navigation and the culminating point of my experience exactly as in
the book (Conrad 70). The movie accurately depicts the women knitting black wool and the colored
map with the snake like river as Conrad vividly describes them (pp. 73 74). The mood of the scene
when Marlow and his crew finally approach Kurtz s Inner Station is also well depicted with the foggy
air, the noises in the forest (p. 110), the fighting of the crew members (pp. 110 114), the eyes hiding in
the bushes (p.114), the swarm of arrows that attack the boat and kill Mfumu, (pp. 119 120) and the
cannibals falling from the trees after Mfumu is thrown overboard (p. 124). The mental image of Kurtz
that Conrad portrays in his physical and emotional description is also shown suitably in the

The Effects Of E Cigarettes On The United States
E cigarettes have exploded onto the scene in the past three years. Whole stores dedicated to these
devices have opened their doors to the public and business is thriving. E cigarettes are battery charged
devices that have an atomizer, or heating element, in them to vaporize liquid nicotine. The user is able
to inhale this vapor and get the nicotine without the other 4,000 chemicals present in tobacco cigarette
smoke (Schroeder). Nicotine is a chemical that is produced by the tobacco plant. People have
discovered that by smoking the leaves of a tobacco plant the nicotine in the leaves is delivered into the
bloodstream. Nicotine by itself is not an awful drug as far as drugs go, although it is highly addictive,
it is the tar in cigarettes that does so much damage. Tobacco use remains the number one preventable
cause of death in the U.S. with 480,000 Americans dying prematurely from tobacco related disease.
Kicking this habit remains difficult for most (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services). Mark
Twain once wrote It s easy to quit smoking, I ve done it hundreds of times.
There have not been any new medications for help with smoking cessation within the last ten to
twelve years and e cig activists ask, why not e cigarettes? These advocates believe e cigarettes can be
incorporated into a smoking plan that works and will save thousands of lives (The Consumer

Gene Therapy Of Tay Sachs Using A Modified Adenovirus
Gene Therapy of Tay Sachs Using a Modified Adenovirus
Akash J. Patel
Abstract: Tay Sach s disease results in an accumulation of lipids in the brain s nerve cells. The
underlying cause of Tay Sachs disease is a mutation in a gene that codes for a lytic enzyme known as
Hexosaminidase A (Hex A). Tay Sachs as well as other lipid storage diseases are incurable, but we
believe that gene therapy has the potential for widespread correction of the lipid storage defect in
humans by means of the cross correction cellular pathway. The vehicle of transportation for the
functional copy of the gene is a modified version of the Adenovirus. An advantage of the adenovirus is
that its genome does not integrate into the host genome to transcribe its ... Show more content on

Functional Hex A enzymes are lytic enzymes, which degrade these old gangliosides and expel them as
waste. Patients with Tay Sach s have a mutation in the gene that codes for the Hex A enzyme, this
results in the lipid build up that can cause neuronal death which lead to the symptoms of Tay Sach s.
The most common form of Tay Sachs takes place during infancy. Infants with the disease usually
show no symptoms until four to six months of age, this is usually when their development and motor
skills tend to weaken. As the disease develops, the infants start to experience seizures as well as vision
and hearing loss. Paralysis and a drop in intelligence have also been observed. Children with Tay
Sachs usually live only to about five years of age. Because of the high lethality rate any measures
toward a cure must be aggressive. As of date there are no tested treatment options for the disease but
there are a few options that have shown promise for other lipid storage diseases.
Enzyme Replacement Therapy:
Gaucher s disease is a lipid storage disease similar to Tay Sach s because its deficiency of a lytic
lysosomal enzyme. Gaucher s disease is in regards to which parts of the body it affects. Tay Sach s
affects the CNS while Gaucher s affects the spleen and liver. The main treatment option of Gaucher s
is enzyme replacement therapy (ERT). The deficient lytic enzyme (glucoserebrosidase) is injected
intravenously and directed toward the lysosomes in

The Confession And On The Trinity
Along with his writings in The Confessions and On the Trinity, Augustine of hippo used the section
titles the literal Meaning of Genesis in order to show Gods love through three visions of God.
According to Dupré and Weisman, we experience three kinds of vision: one through the eyes, a second
through the soul, and a third through the intuition of the mind (Dupré and Weisman pg. 71). Most
humans in society are expected to understand the first of all the visions. To see through the eyes as
spiritual vision is expected for most humans. However, to see things in a corporeal way through the
body is more difficult. We use sight as a physical sensory and flesh of God is outside of the body s
vision. The third type of vision is intellectual, in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This Sunday the reoccurring message was Growth through Adversity . I treated the mediation as an
after church devotion to help clear my mind and get my ready for the school week. My goal for the
day through mediation was to digest the message from church and clear my mind from the last eek.
Ultimately, I was able to mediate and focus on the clearing of my mind and optimism for the next
week of school ahead of me. (Journal Feb 5th). Like Augustine said, how we think, how we
remember, and how we love will show of true connection with Union with God. So, we must digest
the information we receive through sermons and scriptures and use it to analyze God and grow a
deeper connection with him. In his writings, Augustine makes it clear that direct contact with God will
naturally heal people. Therefore, I believe through the use of a sacred word or phrase, one is able to
create this deeper connection with God. Augustine encourages the idea of humans being made in the
trinity so serenity is only possible if one connects with God and transforms their suffering into
blessings. Such a depiction of the soul being intellectual creates a naturally union with God. Through
Centering of Prayer, the methods of creating a serene space are much easier than changing ones soul.
The person has to rid the mind of distraction and focus in the soul on thoughts that will completely
focus the person. Personally, as a religious person, I chose to adopt a sacred word or phrase

Magic In The Middle Ages
In the introduction of the book Magic in the Middle Ages chapter, one emphasizes the definition of
magic. During the medieval era, Europeans believed that there were two types of magic, which were
called natural and demonic. As natural magic was considered to have a correlation with science as the
Wolfsthurn handbook illustrated the usage of a combination of herbs and magic in conjunction. For
example, using herbs to treat an illness with the addition of reciting specific words was deemed as
natural magic. On the other hand, demonic magic was not thought to be a form of science but was a
perverted depiction of religion. That demonic magic s power source was from demons and that words
that could not be interpreted were thought to be demon names. In addition, treatments that involved
animal skin from the Wolfsthurn book would be considered demonic magic as it was suggested that it
was a ceremonial sacrifice to demons.

supernatural power. The Romans would often attempt to summon the spirit of these individuals

Consequently, since Jesus Christ had a gruesome death the Roman asserted that Christianity s
followers were conducting magic by worshiping Jesus Christ since he had a terrible death. Moreover,
the lecture on Medieval European Conceptualizations of Magic and Witchcraft focused on defining
what magic is. As Christianity deemed that magic wasn t associated with the true religion that it

Defense Mechanisms, Freud
Defense mechanisms, in psychoanalysis, are any of a variety of unconscious personality reactions
which the ego uses to protect the conscious mind from threatening feelings and perceptions. Defense
mechanisms can be psychologically healthy or maladaptive, but tension reduction is the overall goal in
both cases(About). Primary defense mechanisms include repression and denial, which serve to prevent
unacceptable ideas or impulses from entering the conscience. Secondary defense mechanisms
generally appearing as an outgrowth of the primary defense mechanisms include projection, reaction
formation, displacement, sublimation, and isolation(AllPsych). Freud introduced the idea that the
mind is divided into multiple parts, including the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Complimentary projection is assuming that others can do things as well as you. Projection also
appears where we see our own traits in other people, as in the false consensus effect. Thus we see our
friends as being more like us than they really are. When something happens that we find difficult to
accept, then we will make up a logical reason why it has happened. The target of rationalization is
usually something that we have done, such as being unkind to another person. It may also be used
when something happens independent of us which causes us disco0fort, such as when a friend is
unkind to us. We rationalize to ourselves. We also find it very important to rationalize to other people,
even those we do not know. Reaction Formation occurs when a person feels an urge to do or say
something and then actually does or says something that is effectively the opposite of what they really
want. It also appears as a defense against a feared social punishment. If I fear that I will be criticized
for something, I very visibly act in a way that shows I am personally a long way from the feared
position (Changingminds).A common pattern in Reaction Formation is where the person uses
‘excessive behavior , for example using exaggerated friendliness when the person is actually feeling
unfriendly. Regression involves taking the position of a child in some problematic situation, rather
than acting in a more adult way. This is usually in response to

Url Is An Acronym For Uniform Resource Locator And Is A...
URL is an acronym for Uniform Resource Locator and is a reference (an address) to a resource on the
Internet. A URL is the fundamental network identification for any resource connected to the web. It s
often easiest, although not entirely accurate, to think of a URL as the name of a file on the World Wide
Web because most URLs refer to a file on some machine on the network. However, remember that
URLs also can point to other resources on the network, such as database queries and command output.
Most people realize that a space is not allowed in a URL. However, it is also important to realize as
the URL string can only contain alphanumeric characters and !$ _+* () . Any other characters that are
required in the URL must be encoded. For analysts, there are two key reasons that a solid grasp of

The High School Student Program
Choice is a luxury most in rural China cannot afford but, as a 16 year old girl who had just arrived to
the United States, the myriad of choices that lay before me was extremely awesome. I equated the
impressive array of choice in terms related to good fortune or even wealth, and this beginning would
serve as the impetus to my achievements in this country thus far. But, what compelled me to leave my
home and family, and travel alone to this country, was to become educated. Where I am from in China,
education seems almost to be a type of magic that can only be wished for; it is elusive to most. I
recognized that education lay at the core of opportunity, and if I focused and worked hard I could one
day share the good fortune of choice as well as the magic that only education can inspire others, both
here as well as in China. I arrived to the U.S. as a high school junior under the J 1 Visa, Secondary
School Student Program and had the privilege to have stayed in Virginia with a family headed by
parents who are both school teachers. Upon completion, I obtained an F 1 student visa and completed
my senior year in 2011 at a rural boarding school in northeast Georgia. Upon arriving to Drexel

Factors That Has An Effect On Conformity
Conformity is the act of matching attitudes, beliefs and behaviours to group norms. Factors that has an
effect on conformity can be culture, age, gender or larger group size. Zimbardo, Johnson, Hamilton
(2014) explained that culture includes language, beliefs, customs, values and traditions. They
mentioned that the social and cultural situation in which the person is rooted to can sometimes be the
strongest factor that influences behaviour. For example, some culture places importance on
punctuality which in turn influences behaviour, such as procrastination or lack of thereof. Indeed, one
of the psychology perspective that psychologists focus on is sociocultural perspective, whereby social
and cross cultural psychologists have been studying how these social processes differ from one culture
to another. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

pressure to conform.
In this study, Indians born from India and Americans born in the United States were chosen as
participants. Their level of collectivism and individualism were measured using Self Construal Scale

Research findings by Oh show that Indians show a higher level of conformity than the Americans.
Indeed, people from more group oriented cultures of Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East

The Three Components Of Robert Sternberg s Theory Of Love
The triangular theory of love is a theory of loved developed by psychologist Robert Sternberg.
Presented in 1985, Sternberg was a member of the Psychology Department at Yale University. During
his time as a professor, Sternberg emphasized his research in the fields of intelligence, creativity,
wisdom, leadership, thinking styles, ethical reasoning, love, and hate. In the context of interpersonal
relationships, the three components of love, according to the triangular theory, are an intimacy
component, a passion component, and a decision/commitment component. ^(5)
There are three components of love as follows:
Passion: Passion can be associated with either physical arousal or emotional stimulation. Passion is
defined in three ways:
A strong feeling of enthusiasm or excitement for something or about doing something^
A strong feeling (such as anger) that causes people to act in a dangerous way
strong sexual or romantic feeling for someone
Intimacy: Intimacy is described as the feelings of closeness and attachment to one another. This tends
to strengthen the tight bond that is shared between those two individuals. Additionally, having a sense
of intimacy helps create the feeling of being at ease with one another, in the sense that the two parties
are mutual in their feelings. Intimacy is primarily defined as something of a personal or private nature;
familiarity.^
Commitment: Unlike the other two blocks, commitment involves a conscious decision to stick with
one another.

Negative Effects Of Looney Tunes
Classic cartoon show, Looney Tunes, was praised as a phenomenal animated show of its time. What
others do not realize is that Looney Tunes is also a street name for lysergic acid diethylamide or LSD
for short (National Drug Intelligence Center 2003). Moving on, in 1943, Albert Hoffman invented
lysergic acid diethylamide and used it (Coney et al 1). Hoffman was known for his interest and studies
in alternative states of consciousness (Wilson 315). Consequently, since the invention of lysergic acid
diethylamide, it has gained popularity. Within this popularity, comes different perspectives of the
usage of this drug.
For example, the medical field has positive views about lysergic acid diethylamide, such as using it
for treatment. One of the possible illnesses that could be treated by lysergic acid diethylamide is
anxiety and depression (Kyzar et al 997). Their test subjects were patient with terminal cancer, which
after their psychotherapy, demonstrated rapid increases in positive affect[s] (Kyzar et al 997). After six
and a half months following the use of lysergic acid diethylamide sixty to eighty percent show[ed]

Friedrich Nietzsche s Philosophy And Ethics
The Antichrist
Samuel Edwards
Central Christian College
May 6, 2016 Abstract: Friedrich Nietzsche devoted his life to the study of philosophy and ethics. In
particular to topics regarding Christianity and Atheism. A majority of his writings are against
Christianity and The Antichrist is no different. The following paper will look into what Nietzsche
wrote in The Antichrist and explore the ethical principles that he proposes and dismisses in this
writing. The Antichrist is a collection of Friedrich Nietzsche writings that were put together by his
niece shortly after his death. She wrote an opening preface before his collection of writings that
explain her desire for publishing the writings and defending his standpoint. In her opening statements,
which were approximately 20% of the entire book, she made some claims about Nietzsche, his
writings, and his beliefs. She states that Nietzsche ...intended to attack Christianity headlong and with
all arms... and that All his wrath... was reserved for St. Paul and his like, who perverted the Beatitudes
which Christ intended for the lowly only. Despite saying this Nietzsche staid that he never set out to
destroy Christianity all together, so that the lowly and unintelligent would still have an outlet. But to
destroy Christianity for the intellectuals and the scholars. Oddly enough he set out to ...make Paul the
villain, and Jesus a bystander. ( After the introduction by his niece a collection of 62 essays are

Analysis Of Double Indemnity
Double Indemnity is a film noir directed by Billy Wilder in 1944, and it was based on the novel of the
same name Double Indemnity which was published in 1943. This film was nominated for seven
Academy Awards, but it did not win any prize. Double Indemnity is a story about the crime of Phyllis
and Neff. Phyllis plans to kill her husband to receive the claim of an accident insurance and Neff set
up a scheme to get twice the amount of a clause. Although a classic femme fatale of the noir era,
Phyllis would be considered a strong woman and a feminist today because of her role in the insurance

This soundtrack is extradiagetic, commentative, and suggests, initially, an upbeat mood and a feeling
of optimism as Neff and Phyllis believe they might have really gotten away with their crime
(Krinsky); sometime, the violin turns on that can make the mood of the film tighter. When Neff shots
Phyllis, the gunshot is too loud to make the audience start. As soon as the gunshot is heard, the
background music stops suddenly, exaggerating what has just taken place. (Owers). There are a lot of
crisis of masculinity scene in this movie. One of the most masculinity is the relationship between Neff
and Keyes. Smoking is a masculine trait; however, Walter and Barton light cigarettes for each other.
Normally, men like to light matches for women; it seems to be a part of the dynamic of the man and
indicates the man is more active and be able to control the relationship. However, Keyes lets Neff light
matches for him instead of doing by himself. If he was considered to be strong and masculine, he
would never let other men do that. It places him in the position of a woman and indicates that Keyes
depends on Neff and Neff is more masculine in film. Moreover, throughout the film, Phyllis plays a
game with the man to make him feel masculine. When he knows about killing her husband plan, he is

The University Of Toledo Levis Leadership Program
The University of Toledo Levis Leadership program prides itself with creating leaders. The program
focuses on giving students with leadership potential the knowledge, skills, and tools to become leaders
not only on campus but in their future careers. For me, the proof of this method of producing
leadership is shown by the upperclassmen in the program. As a freshman, the upperclassmen are my
role models, and I rely on them to set an example of what I can do with my developing leadership.
When I met with my LUT mentor, Emma Diesing, earlier in the semester, she set an incredibly high
standard for leadership. She is so inspiring because she is only a sophomore and has already achieved
so much at the University of Toledo. So when it came to choosing a student leader on campus to
interview, I knew she was absolutely the right person to ask. Each person has their own leadership
style. For Emma, she places communication and hands on opportunities at the top of her list. It was
clear during her interview that she enjoys being involved with other people by leading activities
through instruction. She described being very easy going when leading, only becoming very deliberate
with her leadership if others are not respecting her or the task at hand. For me, on the other hand, I
think I have a bit of a different leadership style. I think I lead more by example than through
instruction. I would rather volunteer and contribute work to my group than communicate. I tend to be

Effects Of Dutch Colonization On Indonesia
The age of exploration brought the Netherlands to colonize Indonesia for many decades. When the
Dutch first arrived in Indonesia, they made slow advances to different parts of Indonesia. At the time,
Indonesia was well known as the spice islands that many countries wanted to colonize. Because Dutch
colonization in Indonesia lasted a long time, it impacted Indonesia greatly and left many short and
long term effects. Although the Dutch impacted Indonesia greatly in many different ways, they left an
exceptional amount of marks in Indonesia s economy, politics, and religion at the time of their
colonization. The VOC took advantage of Indonesia s rich land which was suitable for the growth of

The Dutch created new systems, rules, and held power and control over the people of Indonesia. They
formed single organizations and traded across large areas before eventually becoming the main
political figure in the archipelago and replaced existing Indonesian politics. Rules and systems that
had been previously used by Indonesia were diminished and quickly taken over and changed by the
Dutch. The cultivation (culture) system was a system that impacted the Dutch and Indonesia
politically and economically for a long period of time. The Dutch would have each village submit a set
amount of resources as rent that benefitted them but was torture for Indonesians (encyclopedia

politics weren t effective and was often inhumane for the Indonesians. Their culture system was
eventually rioted against and diminished. The rejection of the cultivation system was both for humane
and for economic motives. ; the culture system was changed in 1870 and created a new period, led by
the Dutch crown instead of the VOC (Indonesia Investments). Political choices made by the VOC

The Importance Of Teaching A Past Lesson
One of the greatest aspects of teaching is having the opportunity to engage with students. Engaging in
the practice requires that teachers are constantly reflecting and wondering how they can better
enhance their performance. This is often done through reflecting on past lessons as well as actively
seeking appropriate leadership roles and opportunities. Effective teachers are master reflectors who
always understand how their actions contribute to the success of their students, their families and their
communities. Effective teachers are also sure that they are using their reflections and new knowledge
to inform their practice. In addition to reflecting on their own practice, new teachers are always
reading to collaborate with superiors or colleagues in order to gain new and innovative information.
My first piece of evidence I have included for Standard 9 is an analysis of a past lesson. In the
analysis, I carefully reflect on the effects my choices and actions in the classroom have impacted my
students. Despite how passionately teachers may feel about engaging with students, it is important that
we are constantly wondering how we can improve our performance in the classroom. Little that
happens in the classroom happens for no reason. Constant reflection allows for teachers and students
alike to understand how classroom interactions can become more meaningful. In addition to my lesson
analysis, I have also included a lesson plan and its subsequent reflection. The lesson

Home Ownership Of The Housing Bubble Crisis
A home is the biggest purchase and investment one can make in their lifetime. For decades, home
ownership has been silver plated with the aura of the American Dream. However, the lending crisis
and meltdown of 2008 in real estate prices across the nation took away the luster off that American
Dream for many. Now however, after reflecting from past mistakes, homeownerswho lost their homes
in the housing bubble crisis realize it takes a lot to obtain the American dream and are eager to reenter
into the home market as buyers. These boomerang buyers might just benefit withthe option of rent to
own amongst other options. Advantages to Boomerang Home Buyers Although many homeowners
were affected and lost almost everything, there s hope for them to move forward with the rent to own
option. This lets the buyer commit to an agreement with a willing seller to lease the property until they
can buy it. The rent to own option is appealing for boomerang buyers with many different
backgrounds. The option suits people who do not have a strong credit rating and therefore not
qualified to get a mortgage from their bank. Since qualification guidelines have become more
stringent, this helps out buyers who would have a hard time qualifying because individual sellers who
opt to entertain the rent to buy option would not be as demanding or strict as compared to lending
institutions.Rent to own appeals to those who do not have enough money for a down payment since it

These Byrds don t fly, but they still have the skills. Many of the band members had a decent amount
of trouble to form the band and to create songs, but the big trouble they had was all of the drug abuse
in their lives. Even with all the drug abuse, they still had fun while creating songs and albums (Shirley,

Career
When they first started they had a huge amount of people started liking them, and then they started
getting hits and before they knew it, they got accepted in the folk rock hall of fame. When they got
into the hall of fame they made a song about it, but as soon as they did, they got rid of it because they

Before the Byrds signed to the one off contract, the Ex folkies caught up with the beatles craze. Even

Ipv4 vs Ipv6
The IPv4 came before the IPv6 and these datagrams are similar in many ways but also differ in more
ways than one. IPv6 came out in the year 2004 and still uses many of the features that made IPv4 so
successful. IPv6 is supposed to become the new standard over the older version of IPv6, but it is tough
for v6 to take its spot when v6 cannot support everything v4 does, basically v6 cannot connect to a v4
system. Some differences are that it is stated that the IPv6 is more secure than the IPv4, the address
size went from 32 bits in the IPv4 to 128 bits in the IPv6, extensible protocols are more flexible in the

The reason why the address is longer in v6 is because it can support over 340 undecillion IP addresses.
Mainly because the IPv6 has potential to have problems just like the IPv4 address problems. Also, the
IPv6 has been broken down into geographical locations, meaning that the address can be tracked to a
specific location in the world. The downfall in this part, in my opinion, in a hacker s point of view, is
that you can breakdown a specific location where you would want to attack, if you know the
geographic location of the hexadecimal in the address. What I mean is that you can know the country
code in the IPv6 address and focus your attack in that specific location. Having a random order of the
v6 address would make it more reliable and more secure but also would allow disorder, not knowing
where specific address might be located.
IPv6 is more flexible in using protocols which, are mainly defined as the Request for Comment (RFC)
that we discussed in the discussions. Protocols are defined in the RFC, but the name of the protocol
will be something like Internet Protocol, Internet Control Message Protocol, Telnet Protocol, and
many more. The reason why these Protocols are more flexible in the IPv6 is for one, the IPv6 is a
newer technology than the IPv4, and the IPv6 also has more functionality and allows more flexibility
in the protocols, whereas the

Personal Choices In Romeo And Juliet
Ovid s PT and Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet can both be a very hard story to read and interpret. The
characters are constantly following things that pop up in their mind and coincidentally happening. I
believe that in both stories Destiny has the greatest impact on multiple things but the main
controversial topic is personal choices. That s why I believe in Ovid s PT and Shakespeare s Romeo
and Juliet, Destiny had a greater impact on characters. One example from Romeo and Juliet is when
Romeo accidentally get invited to a Capulets party where coincidentally Juliet is there. If it was the
personal choice that thrived Romeo would have chosen not to go to the party. These are shown in the
play when Romeo says Romeo suggests as much before he goes to the party where he first meets
Juliet: I fear, too early for my minds misgive some consequences yet hanging in the stars. This shows
that without destiny Romeo would have chosen not to go to the party and would have never been
given the opportunity to meet Juliet. Another example of this in Romeo and Juliet is when Juliet finds
out Romeo is of the house of Montague and the nurse says His name is Romeo, and a Montague, THe

The Community Stability Act ( Csa ) Essay
The Community Stability Act (CSA) is a policy designed to reduce housing transiency in low income
urban and rural communities by providing housing subsidies to low income families, and financial
assistance to families at risk of or experiencing eviction. The CSA will alleviate poverty through
removing the various stressors associated with housing transiency, and have subsidiary effects related
to education and economic opportunity. This policy is predicated on one key understanding. It is
indisputable that the nature of the housing market has changed most urban low income households are
spending a significant portion of their income ( 50%) on housing expenses. The present is an
aberration of long held expectations that housing costs should not exceed 30% of one s income and it
needs to be addressed. However, the problem of housing costs is multifaceted, and addressing it
requires systemic changes (augmenting the power dynamic between labor and capital in the U.S.,
fixating on public and affordable housing rather than private development) that would not be practical
in the current political environment, or in the foreseeable future. This policy, in contrast, derives its
attractiveness from how it can be framed, and the widespread effects (from a geographical and
socioeconomic perspective) that it will have. The CSA will provide a housing subsidy to all parents of
schoolchildren (aged four to eighteen). The subsidy would reduce the family s housing costs to 30% of

The Conflict Between Saudi Arabia And Iran
It s often thought, in the west, that the feud between Saudi Arabia and Iran is 14 centurys old and that
we don t understand it because we (the west) are so dis attached from religion in governance. For
example, the end of religious politics in the US is credited with the writings of the English philosopher
John Locke and this view on religion became particularly influential in the United States Constitution
in 1787 (ref). State figures like Barack Obama showed this in his final State of the Union Address, he
called the region a place rooted in conflicts that date back millennia (Obama, 2016). The truth of the
situation is, religious politics has been left behind in the west. It s true that the divide in identities
within Islam was formed from a religious dispute centuries ago. It s also nothing new that Sunnis and
Shia s have been in conflict for decades maybe centuries. The rivalry between the two has had a
violent affect in contemporary Middle East stabilization and politics.
Sectarianism between Saudi Arabia and Iran shouldn t be concluded as a foreign ancient feud that
conflicts modern political logic but rather a modern phenomenon and a product of contemporary
politics. Furthermore, it is playing out not in obscure theological forums but in the political arena.

Ancient Greek Constellations
Have you ever had one of those days where you d take a nice walk in the night time and just gaze into
the night sky, and when you look up you see a bunch of beautiful stars. Well, if you have taken a
closer look you may have noticed that the stars have patterns that create images called constellations.
Constellations are a group of stars that are connected together to represent mythological images of
animals and objects from the past that is located in the celestial sphere 1, 3. They were mainly
discovered by the early people, primarily used as references to coordinate directions, measure time,

As constellations move about one degree per day, they complete a 360 degrees circular motion in a
year, making them return back to the same position as they were the year before3. As mentioned
earlier the rotation of constellations depends on where you look and your location. For instance, a
person who looks up North would tend to realize that the constellations are rotating in the
counterclockwise direction around the north celestial pole, which is beside Polaris3. The explanation
to why it seems like the constellations are rotating counterclockwise is because the earth spins from
west to east, meaning that it is rotating to the right, while the stars and constellations above, moves
from east to west3. In contrast, those who face the south, will see the stars rotate clockwise3. For a
person who is facing the east will see the stars rise in the front of them and set behind, while a person
who faces the west will see the stars rise behind and set in front of them3. Though constellations travel
from East to West like the planets, people from different parts of the world will have a different
standpoint on the movements of the constellations. Now that we have an understanding of
constellations, lets take a look at a few notable ones, starting with the

Was Elizabeth A Puritan Threat
It is undeniable that the Catholic threat represented a serious threat to the Elizabethan church.
However, it was not always a more serious threat than the Puritan threat. In fact, it could be argued
that towards the end of Elizabeth s reign, neither Catholicism not Puritanism represented a threat
anymore, because she dealt with most opposition effectively. Nevertheless, in the beginning of her
reign, Catholicism represented one of Elizabeth s most threatening counterparts, partly due to the
remaining influence of her sister, Mary I as well as Mary Stuart, the Queen of Scots. Similarly, in the
middle years of her reign, Catholicism still represented a much more serious threat than puritanism, as
seen through the Northern Rebellion of the nobles ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As twentieth century historian A.G. Dickens has argued, Catholicism in England died down by the end
of the sixteenth century. Arguably because of the mix of rejection of traditional Catholicism and
Elizabeth s imposed settlement or the growing numbers of protestants, Catholicism stopped being a
serious threat by the end of the 1580s. In comparison, the Puritan threat started to escalate radically
towards 1588. One example of the growing threat would be the Martin Marprelate Tracts, issued
between October 1588 and September 1589. The six pamphlets quickly became very popular amongst
radical Puritans and called for a Presbyterian church system. The pamphlets were a direct threat to
Elizabeth s already established Settlement, so the fact that they called for a more Protestant church,
specifically excluding the episcopacy, represented a direct attack to Elizabeth s image as a monarch
and the stability of the monarchy. Therefore, despite Catholicism being the major threat to the
Elizabethan church in the beginning and middle of her reign, after the death of Mary Stuart in 1587,
the Puritan threat emerged considerably and became a far greater threat than

A meaningful tradition to me is when me and my dad go out a couple of days before christmas and
shop for my mom. One week ago me and my dad invited my brother to are christmas shopping. We
went to belk and target, and we got her a lot of really good presents. Another tradition that we have is
we pick a day to wrap presents. This happened yesterday my mom agreed to lock her bedroom door as
we wrapped her presents on the kitchen table. Every year we always find some good deal on
something. This year we got a good deal on a toaster oven and I am so excited to see her face when
she opens that oven.
Another tradition that we have is the weekend after halloween we always put up are christmas
decoration. We do the tree last on the inside

In a nutshell, it is because the economic benefits are grossly overstated and are outweighed by the
wide ranging environmental, public health and weapons proliferation problems and risks. Uranium
accounted for 0.19 per cent of Australia s export revenue in 2011/12 (the last available figures)1. By
the most generous estimate, uranium accounts for 0.015% of all jobs in Australia.2 For Queensland,
there is the additional limitation that the state has around just 2% of Australia s uranium resources.
Clearly, the industry has no capacity to deliver significant economic or employment benefits. Instead
of acknowledging the extremely limited economic potential of uranium mining in Queensland, the
LNP state government, the Australian Uranium Association and the Queensland Resources Council
have continued a pattern of extravagant and unsubstantiated claims regarding jobs, revenue and
royalties. Enthusiasm is no substitute for evidence and limited sectoral self interest is not the same as
the public interest. The assumptions and analysis of those promoting the uranium sector in Queensland
needs to be challenged and reviewed.

has set up the Uranium Implementation Committee. The Committee has not sought broad community

Example Of Narrative Essay For The Great Gatsby
I grew up in a small town outside of Louisville called Corydon. It was a quaint place where successful
businessmen, doctors, and pilots lived to get away from the big city drama. Like a group of animals,
they lived together in a herd, specifically a neighborhood called Willow Creek. With my dad being a
pilot in the United Parcel Service, I had the pleasure of existing among the rich, entitled people of
Willow Creek. Growing up, my friends took on this Great Gatsby old money persona from their
parents who came from a lineage of money and connections. What they wore were the most
fashionable clothes that money could buy, what they drove were the newest, stylish cars, and what
they thought were egotistical, upscale ideas. However, if I were to proclaim that I was always morally
superior to any of them, I would be lying: children are cognitively molded by their peers. As my peers
and I advanced in our youth, we would associated together at school, sports, after school, clubs, and
extracurriculars. I enjoyed the company; however, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I devoted my energy to the sciences and humanities in search of career sheathed in the satisfying
guard of knowledge. However, I could never separate myself entirely from the preppy, entitled
demeanor. From Boy Scout camps, church outings, job opportunities, and even a new school, I am still
treated by people that have never met me before like the kid I grew up as: a white kid who has always
had it made for him and will never have to worry about the future so he doesn t cherish the
opportunities and knowledge he has now. They could not be more inaccurate and I take it upon myself
to prove it to them by not just words, but actions. Even still, I cannot enlighten them to my true nature.
My only option left is to find a new community. A community that has been unmistakably swaddled in
diversity for its existence: Tulane

Gravimetric Analysis of a Soluble Sulfate
Abstract Gravimetric analysis describes the methods for finding the chemical constituent of analyte in
a solution through analytical chemistry. This method uses the mass of solid SO42 , with an unknown
quantity and quality, to qualitatively determine the makeup of the solid SO3 . Two separate
experiments with the initial compounds of BaCl2 and SO42 were put into solution to allow for the
BaSO4 precipitate to form. Through filtration and ignition of precipitate containing ashless papers, the
solid masses of BaSO4 were attained. With a gravimetric factor of 1:1, sample 1 resulted in the
formation of 0.5874g BaSO4 from 0.4004g of SO42 , while sample 2 resulted in the formation of
0.4073g BaSO4 from 0.3985g of SO42 . The two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Two samples of unknown #8 were taken and weighed at 0.4004g (Sample 1) and 0.3985g (Sample 2).
The two samples were placed into separate 400 mL beakers along with 200 mL of DI water containing
4 mL of 6M HCl. Two samples of the BaCl2.2H2O weighing 1.51g each were placed into separate
250 mL beakers and dissolved using 100 mL of DI water. 95 mL of each of the BaCl2.2H2O solutions
were added to the earlier mentioned 400 mL beakers containing the unknown #8 solutions, leaving
roughly 5 mL to later test completeness of precipitation of the sulfate ion. The newly added mixtures
were heated for 3 minutes and then were allowed to cool and settle for 10 minutes. The remaining 5
mL of BaCl2.2H2O solution was added to their respective unknown solutions to ensure precipitation
completeness of sulfate ions. Upon completeness, the two solutions were heated for 90 minutes at near
boiling temperatures. After the 90 minutes, the solutions were removed from the heat, cooled, covered
with parafilm and stored until the following week.
Procedure (III): Precipitations of Funnel and Filter Paper for Filtration This procedure is performed
for the purpose of separating and filtering the desired barium sulfate so to later determine the quantity
of sulfate within unknown #8. The two solutions prepared and digested previously were reheated to
near boiling temperatures. During the reheating process, 2

Pros Of Collective Bargaining
On Tuesday, March 29, a tie vote in the U.S. Supreme Court delivered a victory for unions and
collective bargaining. The Supreme Court reached a 4 4 vote in Friedrichs v. California Teachers
Association, a major labor case on union funding. This tie vote upholds the legality of fair share fees
and allows unions to maintain the system they use to collect funds that support collective bargaining
and obtaining benefits for workers.
Collective bargaining
Collective bargaining is the negotiation between union leaders and the company s management that
sets out the terms of employment such as working conditions, base pay, overtime, work hours, and
benefits. By law, collective bargaining benefits all workers whether they are in the union or not and ...

Life in the Ottawa tribe
The Ottawa tribe and culture of the tribe is eminently fascinating and beautiful. The Ottawa tribe has a
great deal of history behind it. The name Ottawa is originally spelled Odawa in their native language.
The language that they speak is mostly English, but their native language is Ojibwa, which is related
to Anishinaabe language. The tribe s original homeland, according to bigorrin.org, is mostly in
southern Ontario in Canada, which is where the name of Ottawa or Odawa came from, and Michigan.
There are multiple Ottawa tribes, but there is one here in Manistee, Michigan, they are the Little River
Band of Ottawa Indians. There is a legion amount of people that are in the Little River Band that are
exceedingly close to me. The Little River Band is full and rich in culture. The Little River Band of
Ottawa Indians, a Michigan tribe that has survived to the present day despite the expansionist and
assimilationist policies that nearly robbed it of its identity in the late nineteenth century , explained
James McClurken who published the book Our People, Our Journey . He then explains that they Little
River Band was forced onto a reservation on the Pere Marquette and Manistee Rivers in 1858. The
tribe was getting pushed and shoved around for countless years and their culture was disintegrating. In
fact, my boyfriend, Andrew, his grandmother, Margaret Chandler, was a strong and tough working
representative that helped and pushed the people of their tribe for over

Allround Case Summary
Manufactures Suggested Retail Price (MSRP)
As a group, team A collectively provided input and decisions on our MSRP in order to increase sales
and attempt to gain market shares. Thus we wanted to understand the price sensitivity of the different
target markets to set the appropriate price (Winer Dhar, 2016, p. 248). We carefully reviewed the
MSRP performance summary provided, starting with the first period, comparing it to the average retail
price by way of the channel report (ARPCR). The original price for Allround was $5.29. At that time
we were $.40 higher in price than our competition however the team felt that with the $.50 coupon
discount we were offering, we would fall in line with other over the counter Besthelp who was our

of $6.05. The results did not prove to be as favorable as we would have liked. Although sales
increased, our net income, stocks and share of manufacturer sales fluctuated throughout the
simulation. Some of the decisions made did not always prove favorable, for our team, Allround went
from $102.1M to $148.6M in unit sales and $355.3M to $537.8M in sales. (See figure 1). Allround +

Symbolism In The White Heron
The White Heron depicts a story of a little girl who leads a life of respect and love of nature rather
than that of fortune. Early on in the story, she meets a boy who is a self proclaimed ornithologist, a
scientist that studies birds. He is willing to pay ten dollars to whomever can show him the White
Heron he had once seen. It is now up to Sylvia, the young girl, to make a decision either in favor of
the ornithologist or the white heron. Ultimately, she will be making a decision to acquiesce to male
dominance or not. The pine tree in which Sylvia climbs in order to see the white heron up close can be
represented as a symbol of life. Now she thought of the tree with a new excitement, for why, if one
climbed it at break of day, could not one see all the world, and easily discover whence the white heron
flew (Jewett 466). The tree actually takes on the characteristics of an animal, when Sylvia is
climbing the tree and the twigs scratch her with angry like talons (Jewett 466). Sylvia continues on
this obstacle up and up the tree, and continuing on towards her revelation. The birds of the forest
begin to sing louder and louder as Sylvia climbs, meaning she is coming ever so closely to the top of
the tree or the climax of her new life. She finally sees the white heron and is eager with anticipation to
tell the boy of the path to find it. Sylvia ventures home and the young ornithologist and Sylvia s
grandmother are both waiting for her. He can make them rich with money;

Investigating the Reactions between Polyvinyl Alcohol and Borax in Making a Rubber Ball
Introduction
Chemistry, while usually thought of as being practiced mostly in labs, actually affects everyone,
everywhere. Chemistry and chemical processes are constantly occurring. We are dependent on them.
The air that we breathe, the food that we eat, and thousands of other simple and confusing things
depend on chemistry. In this particular case, the relationship between Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA) and
Sodium Borate (Borax) is being investigated. PVA is a water soluble synthetic polymer (Maciborski,
and Salamone), while Borax is a natural mineral with many household uses. It can be used as
herbicide, to bleach teeth, as a household cleaner, and a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The decision was made to manipulate the ratio of PVA to borax, as that would allow for different
results. The first ratio chosen was 10:1, as it was thought to be a good starting point. However, many
experiments are needed to reach a conclusion, so more ratios were tested out; the ratios 5:1, 3:1, and
2:1 were included as well, to get a variety of results. With all these different options, it would be
possible to see which ratio was the closest and how that would impact the rest of the experiment.
The Borax and PVA were poured from their respective beakers into a smaller (100mL) beaker, and
then the solutions were stirred together thoroughly. This was done for all the ratios. 20 mL of PVA and
2 mL of Borax were used for the 10:1 ratio; 10mL PVA and 2mL Borax for the 5:1. 12 mL PVA and
4mL Borax for the 3:1; and 10mL PVA and 5mL Borax for the 2:1 ratio.
The mixtures, after being made, were all allowed to rest in the beaker for 5 minutes. After the allotted
time, the mixtures were taken out of the beakers using rubber gloves, since they are a mild skin irritant
due to the fact that they contain Borax ( Material Safety Data Sheet ). They were then molded into a
ball and tested for durability, shape retention, and bounce. The ones having the best of all the
aforementioned qualities (5:1, 3:1, and 2:1 ratios) were then saved and put into plastic bags to be used

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Synthesizer in Popular Culture Music Technology is gradually plays a part of abundance in popular music by continuously emerging songs with the use of technological devices. With the experimental use of electronic music instrument, it sparked a new development for artists to blend in synthesizer sound into their compositions and left a mark in the music industry (Pinch and Bijsterveld, 2003, pp. 536 537). Synthesizer played a crucial role in popular music through the impact of the mechanical instrument to deliver a new electronic sound to inspire bands like Kraftwerk who played a critical role towards electronic music. As the instrument matured quickly, it shaped up the modern music world progressively through the new direction sound to have people forgetting the strange sound it once perceived from the listeners ( Champions of sound; Man and machine in perfect harmony, Kraftwerk were the Beatles with synthesizers, says Mark Edwards , 2009, p. 29). Background on synthesizer The name synthesizer was first developed in 1958 for the RCA Mark II Synthesizer programmed from paper tape. It was then adopted by several developers with the first commercialized synthesizer created by Robert Moog in 1964 (Pinch and Bijsterveld, 2003, pp. 547 548). The possibility of using a synthesizer could be endless to composite songs by shaping and exploring the music that may be limited with two important key components presented behind most synthesizers (Howe, 1972, p. 121). The first component is the explicit controls used ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Role Of Ophelia In Hamlet Ophelia In Hamlet In the play Hamlet, written by William Shakespeare, only two members of the cast are female characters. Both represent the female gender, and part of the play revolves around the character Ophelia and Prince Hamlet s relationship towards her. Ophelia is only present in five of the twenty scenes in the play, and very little is known about her background. As the scholar Lee Edwards points out, We can imagine Hamlet s story without Ophelia, but Ophelia literally has no story without Hamlet (qtd. in Showalter 283). Despite of what seems like having a minimal role in the play, Ophelia still holds much of the readers attention. She gains so much attention because her character and her circumstances are so tragic and catastrophic. In her essay Representing Ophelia: Women, Madness, and the Responsibilities of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The only way she sees how is by becoming mad, which eventually causes her death. As a mad woman, Ophelia would not be bound by the societal restrictions of women; she could talk freely to some extent. However, even in insanity she is not free. She still has no freedom of choice. Ophelia is eventually regarded as irrational, and her words are not taken seriously and are taken to be simply mad talk. Whereas Hamlet has the power to change his fate, Ophelia does not, and her death is considered to be tragic because the only escape she sees from her oppression is madness and death. Her limited options in a male controlled society and her realization of those limitations are what make Ophelia s death the true tragedy of Hamlet. As Annette Wyandotte observes in one of her essays, One could argue that Ophelia s death is the true tragedy of Hamlet. Without critiques, the audience might think that Hamlet s faith and actions are the main tragic elements of the play, but Ophelia has much of a bigger role than simply her life and love ... • 5. The Destruction Of Coral Reefs Few places are as teaming with life as coral reefs. However, this is all soon to change due to human negligence. Human activity and stupidity is leading to the destruction of the vast majority of coral reefs and is expected to continue to do so until coral reefs, as well as the species that reside in and around them, are a thing of the past. Coral reefs are extremely biologically and environmentally important (7). Not only are they home to over a million species of fish, invertebrates, and algae currently occupying coral reefs but there could be hundreds of thousands more species yet to be discovered (8). These reef dwelling species are food to over a billion people around the globe. Coral is also used as a building material and is a major tourist attraction, aiding the economies of communities bordering their coasts. Humans are actively destroying reefs through processes such as destructive fishing, overfishing, careless tourism, pollution, sedimentation, coral mining, coral bleaching, and global warming. Destructive fishing destroys coral reefs and hinders their future production of fish and marine life. It includes poison and explosive fishing. Poison fishing uses chemicals such as cyanide and is used popularly by aquariums and traders to collect fish without killing them and is very popular in the Philippines, Indonesia, and the islands of Micronesia. The fish are stunned by the chemicals and therefore are easier to capture. This method poisons far more than the target ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Brand Experience Created By The Feelings And Reactions... According to (Brakus, et al,2009.) Brand experience created by the feelings and reactions associated with the brand. These feelings are brought about by brand design, communication, environment and brand identity. Brand experience is majorly centered on branding than other product concepts like brand personality, attitudes, values, equity, and association. The most important thing for a consumer today is whether the brand can add value to their lives through positive experiences. Morrison and Crane (2009) argue that there is an emerging trend in consumer behavior and marketing with consumers purchasing products and services based on the experiences of what is being sold. Many researchers have concluded that customers look for services that will leave a positive experience in their lives. This has led to an increased interest to markets who want to give their clients a memorable experience. Brand experience leads to consumer trust, loyalty, and satisfaction. DIMENSIONS OF BRAND EXPERIENCE Brakus, et al., (2009), states that there are four aspects of the brand experience. The four dimensions are affective, behavioral, sensory and intellectual dimensions. AFFECTIVE DIMENSION Zarantonello and Schmitt (2010), concludes that the affective dimension consists of the feeling created by products and services and the emotional attachment of the consumers to these brands. They further suggest that when consumers have a greater affective brand experience they tend to think that the brand ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

That is one of the reason i assume why he wrote this essay..Animals needs are ignored and they get treated awfully. He explains that billions of animals that are farmed and slaughtered for human to eat have emotional and intelligent lives. Fist, what draws my attention in his essay is he organized this essay by each chapter talking about different kind of animals , and how animals have to suffer for human consumer ,and he talks about emotions of animals .He also shows us that animals are similar to human beings,However, they have to suffer horrible from the circumstances in which they are farmed and slaughtered. • 9. The Greatest Hero Figure Of Ancient Mesopotamia Essay It is reasonable that the origin of interests and concerns of societies would fascinate many because of the ability to learn about how the interests have been created and evolved. Learning about interests can bring knowledge about how people in the past had believed in and how it is thought of compared to today s society and culture. The best known individual of Mesopotamia was Gilgamesh. He was in a cycle of stories called Epic of Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh was the greatest hero figure of ancient Mesopotamia. Though the stories focus on the adventures of both Gilgamesh and his friend Enkidu, the stories explored themes like ambition and the longing for immortality. These themes reflected the interests of the urban based society that emerged in Mesopotamia. In Mesopotamia there was a quest for order, a formation of a complex society and cultural traditions, broad influence of the society, and Indo European migrations. There was a quest for order in Mesopotamia. During the fourth millennium B.C.E., human population increased. Through adaptation they created states and governmental machinery. Sumerians from the land of Sumer were dominant in Mesopotamia. In Sumer population increased likely because of agricultural potential. There were new arrivals who were Semitic people. Although Jackie Robinson, Melba Patillo Beals, and Helen Keller advocated for different things, the three did make life changing turning points to change their countries for the better. They all had one thing in common despite their differences; perseverance. But what actions of perseverance did they commit to? For a long time, only white people were in the major leagues. Until, however, Jackie Robinson defied this and made a change for the better. He was the first African American in America to be in the major leagues of baseball, although many people did not agree with this. This is shown when we see that white people had yelled insults and racial slurs at him during his games, It hadn t been that easy to fight the resentment expressed by players on other teams, by the team owners, or by bigoted fans screaming n . Varying Interpretations of Heart of Darkness and Apocalypse Now The true meaning of varying interpretations comes alive when one compares the two film versions of Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad. Heart of Darkness and Apocalypse Now have the same basic outline and underlying themes, however the plots, characters, settings, time, purposes, and points of view differ enough to create two extremely different effects and two entirely opposite movies. Both movies depict an insanity: of man in Heart of Darkness and of war in Apocalypse Now. It is ironic that Heart of Darkness, the movie replica of the novel, is a boring, slow paced flop of a production, while Apocalypse Now, a loosely based film, had great success and audience ... The similarities between the novel and movie versions of Heart of Darkness are numerous, right down to exact quotations, costumes, and scenes. In the opening scene, Marlow describes his expedition into the Congo as the farthest point of navigation and the culminating point of my experience exactly as in the book (Conrad 70). The movie accurately depicts the women knitting black wool and the colored map with the snake like river as Conrad vividly describes them (pp. 73 74). The mood of the scene when Marlow and his crew finally approach Kurtz s Inner Station is also well depicted with the foggy air, the noises in the forest (p. 110), the fighting of the crew members (pp. 110 114), the eyes hiding in the bushes (p.114), the swarm of arrows that attack the boat and kill Mfumu, (pp. 119 120) and the cannibals falling from the trees after Mfumu is thrown overboard (p. 124). Whole stores dedicated to these devices have opened their doors to the public and business is thriving. E cigarettes are battery charged devices that have an atomizer, or heating element, in them to vaporize liquid nicotine. The user is able to inhale this vapor and get the nicotine without the other 4,000 chemicals present in tobacco cigarette smoke (Schroeder). Nicotine is a chemical that is produced by the tobacco plant. People have discovered that by smoking the leaves of a tobacco plant the nicotine in the leaves is delivered into the bloodstream. Nicotine by itself is not an awful drug as far as drugs go, although it is highly addictive, it is the tar in cigarettes that does so much damage. Tobacco use remains the number one preventable cause of death in the U.S. with 480,000 Americans dying prematurely from tobacco related disease. Kicking this habit remains difficult for most (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services). Mark Twain once wrote It s easy to quit smoking, I ve done it hundreds of times. • 15. Gene Therapy Of Tay Sachs Using A Modified Adenovirus Gene Therapy of Tay Sachs Using a Modified Adenovirus Akash J. Patel Abstract: Tay Sach s disease results in an accumulation of lipids in the brain s nerve cells. The underlying cause of Tay Sachs disease is a mutation in a gene that codes for a lytic enzyme known as Hexosaminidase A (Hex A). Tay Sachs as well as other lipid storage diseases are incurable, but we believe that gene therapy has the potential for widespread correction of the lipid storage defect in humans by means of the cross correction cellular pathway. The vehicle of transportation for the functional copy of the gene is a modified version of the Adenovirus. An advantage of the adenovirus is that its genome does not integrate into the host genome to transcribe its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Functional Hex A enzymes are lytic enzymes, which degrade these old gangliosides and expel them as waste. Patients with Tay Sach s have a mutation in the gene that codes for the Hex A enzyme, this results in the lipid build up that can cause neuronal death which lead to the symptoms of Tay Sach s. The most common form of Tay Sachs takes place during infancy. Infants with the disease usually show no symptoms until four to six months of age, this is usually when their development and motor skills tend to weaken. As the disease develops, the infants start to experience seizures as well as vision and hearing loss. Paralysis and a drop in intelligence have also been observed. Children with Tay Sachs usually live only to about five years of age. Because of the high lethality rate any measures toward a cure must be aggressive. As of date there are no tested treatment options for the disease but there are a few options that have shown promise for other lipid storage diseases. Enzyme Replacement Therapy: Gaucher s disease is a lipid storage disease similar to Tay Sach s because its deficiency of a lytic lysosomal enzyme. Gaucher s disease is in regards to which parts of the body it affects. Tay Sach s affects the CNS while Gaucher s affects the spleen and liver. The main treatment option of Gaucher s is enzyme replacement therapy (ERT). The deficient lytic enzyme (glucoserebrosidase) is injected intravenously and directed toward the lysosomes in ... The Confession And On The Trinity Along with his writings in The Confessions and On the Trinity, Augustine of hippo used the section titles the literal Meaning of Genesis in order to show Gods love through three visions of God. According to Dupré and Weisman, we experience three kinds of vision: one through the eyes, a second through the soul, and a third through the intuition of the mind (Dupré and Weisman pg. 71). Most humans in society are expected to understand the first of all the visions. To see through the eyes as spiritual vision is expected for most humans. Like Augustine said, how we think, how we remember, and how we love will show of true connection with Union with God. So, we must digest the information we receive through sermons and scriptures and use it to analyze God and grow a deeper connection with him. In his writings, Augustine makes it clear that direct contact with God will naturally heal people. Therefore, I believe through the use of a sacred word or phrase, one is able to create this deeper connection with God. Augustine encourages the idea of humans being made in the trinity so serenity is only possible if one connects with God and transforms their suffering into blessings. Such a depiction of the soul being intellectual creates a naturally union with God. Through Centering of Prayer, the methods of creating a serene space are much easier than changing ones soul. During the medieval era, Europeans believed that there were two types of magic, which were called natural and demonic. As natural magic was considered to have a correlation with science as the Wolfsthurn handbook illustrated the usage of a combination of herbs and magic in conjunction. For example, using herbs to treat an illness with the addition of reciting specific words was deemed as natural magic. On the other hand, demonic magic was not thought to be a form of science but was a perverted depiction of religion. That demonic magic s power source was from demons and that words that could not be interpreted were thought to be demon names. In addition, treatments that involved animal skin from the Wolfsthurn book would be considered demonic magic as it was suggested that it was a ceremonial sacrifice to demons. Effective teachers are master reflectors who always understand how their actions contribute to the success of their students, their families and their communities. IPv6 is supposed to become the new standard over the older version of IPv6, but it is tough for v6 to take its spot when v6 cannot support everything v4 does, basically v6 cannot connect to a v4 system. Some differences are that it is stated that the IPv6 is more secure than the IPv4, the address size went from 32 bits in the IPv4 to 128 bits in the IPv6, extensible protocols are more flexible in the IPv6, IPv4 and IPv6 are not compatible, the IPv4 will not be able to support additional nodes or support for applications, and the ... The downfall in this part, in my opinion, in a hacker s point of view, is that you can breakdown a specific location where you would want to attack, if you know the geographic location of the hexadecimal in the address. What I mean is that you can know the country code in the IPv6 address and focus your attack in that specific location. • 35. Personal Choices In Romeo And Juliet Ovid s PT and Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet can both be a very hard story to read and interpret. The characters are constantly following things that pop up in their mind and coincidentally happening. I believe that in both stories Destiny has the greatest impact on multiple things but the main controversial topic is personal choices. That s why I believe in Ovid s PT and Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet, Destiny had a greater impact on characters. One example from Romeo and Juliet is when Romeo accidentally get invited to a Capulets party where coincidentally Juliet is there. If it was the personal choice that thrived Romeo would have chosen not to go to the party. These are shown in the play when Romeo says Romeo suggests as much before he goes to the party where he first meets Juliet: I fear, too early for my minds misgive some consequences yet hanging in the stars. This shows that without destiny Romeo would have chosen not to go to the party and would have never been given the opportunity to meet Juliet. Another example of this in Romeo and Juliet is when Juliet finds out Romeo is of the house of Montague and the nurse says His name is Romeo, and a Montague, THe only son of your great enemy. • 37. The Community Stability Act ( Csa ) Essay The Community Stability Act (CSA) is a policy designed to reduce housing transiency in low income urban and rural communities by providing housing subsidies to low income families, and financial assistance to families at risk of or experiencing eviction. The CSA will alleviate poverty through removing the various stressors associated with housing transiency, and have subsidiary effects related to education and economic opportunity. This policy is predicated on one key understanding. It is indisputable that the nature of the housing market has changed most urban low income households are spending a significant portion of their income ( 50%) on housing expenses. The present is an aberration of long held expectations that housing costs should not exceed 30% of one s income and it needs to be addressed. However, the problem of housing costs is multifaceted, and addressing it requires systemic changes (augmenting the power dynamic between labor and capital in the U.S., fixating on public and affordable housing rather than private development) that would not be practical in the current political environment, or in the foreseeable future. This policy, in contrast, derives its attractiveness from how it can be framed, and the widespread effects (from a geographical and socioeconomic perspective) that it will have. The CSA will provide a housing subsidy to all parents of schoolchildren (aged four to eighteen). The subsidy would reduce the family s housing costs to 30% of said ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Conflict Between Saudi Arabia And Iran It s often thought, in the west, that the feud between Saudi Arabia and Iran is 14 centurys old and that we don t understand it because we (the west) are so dis attached from religion in governance. For example, the end of religious politics in the US is credited with the writings of the English philosopher John Locke and this view on religion became particularly influential in the United States Constitution in 1787 (ref). State figures like Barack Obama showed this in his final State of the Union Address, he called the region a place rooted in conflicts that date back millennia (Obama, 2016). The truth of the situation is, religious politics has been left behind in the west. It s true that the divide in identities within Islam was formed from a religious dispute centuries ago. It s also nothing new that Sunnis and Shia s have been in conflict for decades maybe centuries. The rivalry between the two has had a violent affect in contemporary Middle East stabilization and politics. Sectarianism between Saudi Arabia and Iran shouldn t be concluded as a foreign ancient feud that conflicts modern political logic but rather a modern phenomenon and a product of contemporary politics. Furthermore, it is playing out not in obscure theological forums but in the political arena. Sectarianism has become the product of key factors that play into religion. Ancient Greek Constellations Have you ever had one of those days where you d take a nice walk in the night time and just gaze into the night sky, and when you look up you see a bunch of beautiful stars. Well, if you have taken a closer look you may have noticed that the stars have patterns that create images called constellations. Constellations are a group of stars that are connected together to represent mythological images of animals and objects from the past that is located in the celestial sphere 1, 3. As constellations move about one degree per day, they complete a 360 degrees circular motion in a year, making them return back to the same position as they were the year before3. As mentioned earlier the rotation of constellations depends on where you look and your location. For instance, a person who looks up North would tend to realize that the constellations are rotating in the counterclockwise direction around the north celestial pole, which is beside Polaris3. The explanation to why it seems like the constellations are rotating counterclockwise is because the earth spins from west to east, meaning that it is rotating to the right, while the stars and constellations above, moves from east to west3. In contrast, those who face the south, will see the stars rotate clockwise3. For a person who is facing the east will see the stars rise in the front of them and set behind, while a person who faces the west will see the stars rise behind and set in front of them3. Though constellations travel from East to West like the planets, people from different parts of the world will have a different standpoint on the movements of the constellations. • 40. Was Elizabeth A Puritan Threat It is undeniable that the Catholic threat represented a serious threat to the Elizabethan church. However, it was not always a more serious threat than the Puritan threat. In fact, it could be argued that towards the end of Elizabeth s reign, neither Catholicism not Puritanism represented a threat anymore, because she dealt with most opposition effectively. Nevertheless, in the beginning of her reign, Catholicism represented one of Elizabeth s most threatening counterparts, partly due to the remaining influence of her sister, Mary I as well as Mary Stuart, the Queen of Scots. Similarly, in the middle years of her reign, Catholicism still represented a much more serious threat than puritanism, as seen through the Northern Rebellion of the nobles ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As twentieth century historian A.G. Dickens has argued, Catholicism in England died down by the end of the sixteenth century. Arguably because of the mix of rejection of traditional Catholicism and Elizabeth s imposed settlement or the growing numbers of protestants, Catholicism stopped being a serious threat by the end of the 1580s. In comparison, the Puritan threat started to escalate radically towards 1588. One example of the growing threat would be the Martin Marprelate Tracts, issued between October 1588 and September 1589. The six pamphlets quickly became very popular amongst radical Puritans and called for a Presbyterian church system. The pamphlets were a direct threat to Elizabeth s already established Settlement, so the fact that they called for a more Protestant church, specifically excluding the episcopacy, represented a direct attack to Elizabeth s image as a monarch and the stability of the monarchy. Therefore, despite Catholicism being the major threat to the Elizabethan church in the beginning and middle of her reign, after the death of Mary Stuart in 1587, the Puritan threat emerged considerably and became a far greater threat than ... It is now up to Sylvia, the young girl, to make a decision either in favor of the ornithologist or the white heron. Ultimately, she will be making a decision to acquiesce to male dominance or not. The pine tree in which Sylvia climbs in order to see the white heron up close can be represented as a symbol of life. Now she thought of the tree with a new excitement, for why, if one climbed it at break of day, could not one see all the world, and easily discover whence the white heron flew (Jewett 466). The air that we breathe, the food that we eat, and thousands of other simple and confusing things depend on chemistry. In this particular case, the relationship between Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA) and Sodium Borate (Borax) is being investigated. The decision was made to manipulate the ratio of PVA to borax, as that would allow for different results. The first ratio chosen was 10:1, as it was thought to be a good starting point. However, many experiments are needed to reach a conclusion, so more ratios were tested out; the ratios 5:1, 3:1, and 2:1 were included as well, to get a variety of results. With all these different options, it would be possible to see which ratio was the closest and how that would impact the rest of the experiment. The Borax and PVA were poured from their respective beakers into a smaller (100mL) beaker, and then the solutions were stirred together thoroughly. This was done for all the ratios. 20 mL of PVA and 2 mL of Borax were used for the 10:1 ratio; 10mL PVA and 2mL Borax for the 5:1. 12 mL PVA and 4mL Borax for the 3:1; and 10mL PVA and 5mL Borax for the 2:1 ratio.
