Gender Roles In Asian-American Culture
Nevertheless, Asian American stars are recognized extremely played prototypical roles offered to them
model minority, sexualized the female or masculine women. There is much argument within the Asian
American community whether to consider Liu as a protagonist or a hateful. In playing highlighting
sexuality roles such as Ling Woo on Ally McBeal, a role who is a self described tramp ...
simultaneously addicted to casual sex and uses sex to have her way with men (Goldsea.com 2008). Is
she bolstering the sexploitation of Asian females, or is she an Asian image who plays her strong
points? Moreover, there are already some problems in the critical writing as to whether Liu is to be
considered an action star or an actor. Some argues that, in Charlie s Angels ... Show more content on

This trend is Liu s opportunity to get rid of either sexploitation or a dragon lady. Elementary is for her
transformation of media. She chose to play Joan Watson who is more than a sexploitation or action,
but a classic adapted character. As Richard Dyer suggests, that stars are representations of persons
which reinforce, legitimate or occasionally alter the prevalent conceptions of what it is to be a human
being in this society (1979b: 31). Thus far I have discussed the role of such personae in films.
However, major sites for elaborating star personae exist outside films in studio promotion
departments, publicity agencies, newspaper and broadcast journalism, TV chat shows, film criticism,
fan magazines and so on. The circulation of subsidiary star texts provides opportunity for gossip and
speculation, serving, in John Ellis words, as a kind of moral barometer . Generally, the way you
progress in your life is how you progress artistically especially as an actor, where you bring such
complicated and personal experiences into what you do everyday (Tseng

Jealousy In Othello
Analyzing William Shakespeare s Othello
There are many different emotions like sadness, happiness, and joyfulness just to name a few that
people can experience. One of the most powerful and sometimes dangerous emotions is Jealousy.
Jealousy is a powerful emotion that most people experience at some point in their life. However, not
everyone is affected in the same way. Some people are filled with insecurity. While others are filled
with fear. Most people experience anger. In William Shakespeare s Othello the audience learns
through the characterization of Othello and Iago, the symbolism of the handkerchief, and through
Othello denying that he is jealous we learn that jealousy can make people behave irrationally in
certain circumstances. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Othello s mom gave Othello the handkerchief, and told him to give it to his wife if he should be
married. This quote indicates that the handkerchief was then given to Desdemona as a precious
valuable item and losing it would be a catastrophe like no other. Lynda Boose argues that [t]he
handkerchief that will become to Othello evidence of her lust [where instead it] has always been
evidence of exactly the opposite nature (Boose 270). This indicates that the handkerchief was a sign of
her love but will transform into a sign of her adultery. Although the audience knows that Othello is
jealous. Othello himself denies that he has been consumed by jealousy, and that he has been behaving
irrationally. Othello claims that it is the cause, [his] soul. Let me not name it to you, you chaste stars.
It is the cause. Yet I ll not shed [Desdemona s] blood (Shakespeare 5.2.1 3). Denying that he is jealous
Othello claims that he is not going to kill Desdemona as of this moment. He also insist that the
reasoning to killing Desdemona would be because of justice, and not jealousy. After killing
Desdemona Othello argues with Emilia that Cassio did top [Desdemona]. Ask thy husband [Iago] else
O, I were damned beneath all depth in hell [b]ut that proceed upon just grounds (Shakespeare 5.2.139

Otherwise he would have gone to hell for

Emi Group Case Study
While conducting the analysis of EMI group s dividend policy, one factor that stood out to us was the
clientele effect. The clientele effect shows us who holds most of our outstanding shares. High tax
bracket individuals would prefer zero to low dividend payout to save on taxes. Low tax bracket
individuals would prefer a low to medium dividend payout, which gives them additional income while
helping them save on taxes. An investing corporation would prefer a higher dividend payout because
if they own a significant amount of shares, say 1 million, the income stream from that dividend would
provide the company with more monetary resources while benefitting from tax exemptions. So before
setting a dividend policy for EMI group, we must first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So, with net income projected to increase in the near future through restructuring, EMI will be able to
service its debt obligations while satisfying its shareholders.
EMI GROUP PLC
Teaching Note
Synopsis
This case examines the April 2007 decision of British music company EMI to suspend its annual
dividend as the company struggled to respond to the effect of digital audio distribution on its core
business. The EMI case is intended to serve as an engaging introduction to corporate financial policy
and themes in managing the right side of the balance sheet. The case contrasts EMI s storied success
with artists such as the Beatles, the Beach Boys, Pink Floyd, and Norah Jones with its recent inability
to succeed in financial markets. In light of takeover threats and restructuring costs, EMI s CFO Martin
Stewart must recommend EMI s dividend policy.
Objectives
The case serves to accomplish the following teaching objectives:
Introduce the topics of financial policy, such as dividend policy and debt policy.
Motivate the tension between investment policy and financial policy with respect to the sources and
uses of cash.
Prompt the Modigliani Miller intuition of financial policy irrelevance and homemade

Marine Biology And Ocean Conservation
Marine Biology and Ocean Conservation is a very important major. It consists of many fields that deal
with marine ecosystems and how they affect the world around them. Some fields of study are focused
on conservation work, which is cleaning up the ocean, protecting wildlife, and rehabilitation. The
ocean is a vast area of water that contains many ecosystems that are beneficial to humans and other
organisms. An abundant amount of human waste ends up in the ocean, which has contaminated marine
ecosystems. Pollution is a key factor in the killing of many species of fish and plants, which affects
the cycle of marine life. The limiting of waste and recycling recyclable matter is very important
because it will limit the amount of waste that pollutes the water.
Polyps make up the living portion of corals with strong skeletons. The corals extract calcium from the
seawater and combine it with calcium carbonate to make limestone structures that create the reef.
Ocean acidification is another contributor to the killing of species. This process is when the ocean
absorbs carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and suffocates all of the living organisms.
If pollution reduction does not occur then many species of plants will not survive and marine plants
produce roughly about 60% of the oxygen that is on Earth. The world s coral reefs, from the Great
Barrier Reef off Australia to the Seychelles off East Africa, are in grave danger of dying out
completely by mid century unless carbon

The Elegant Universe Personal Statement
Alongside my wider research into physics, I enjoy learning about the history and story of each
discovery and the people behind them. This is what led me to the book Reality Is Not What It
Seems: The Journey to Quantum Gravity . It helped me glimpse into the world of physics, from
Greek philosophers like Democritus, past Newton and calculus, to a future of quantum gravity and
more. Matvei Bronstein has a short, sad but important part of this. this. His story got me interested in
the unification problem as the first person to show that quantum gravity affects space time, causing me
to develop a curiosity about theoretical physics as well the universe at micro and macro levels.

company to keep executives with knowledge of the company in key positions due to their loyalty to
the company. CEO Karl Toosbuy had left the company several times only to comeback because of his
experience and knowledge of the company. Karl Toosbuy commented on the family ownership

The Group Responsible for the Attack
It is still undetermined if Al Qaeda was directly responsible to the Fort Hood Shooting. It is known
that Hasan was in contact with Anwar al Awlaki, a known Al Qaeda supporter/member for months
before the Fort Hood attack. The FBI Agents in San Diego had been investigating Awlaki, a former

Essay about J. Alfred Prufrock
J. Alfred Prufrock is He Gay When we read T. S. Eliot s The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock you
almost get the feeling that Prufrock is gay. In fact, when the story is read a bit more in depth you can
conclude that he is gay.
The first flag that is raised to our attention of prufrock being gay is the fact that not once do we hear
the name of his so called lover or even him calling her a lady. Therefore we might be able to conclude
that this lady is in fact a guy. This would in turn bring up many situations in the story that are not
brought to light if this story was read in different text.
Prufrock is very insecure about himself. This is especially seen in the first ten lines. He is insecure
when he talks of his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He wants to murder the mask that he is wearing. He wants to come out and then recreate himself.
However, when the first realization of his homosexuality comes to mind Prufrock starts second
guessing himself. In lines thirty one through thirty four we see this in decisiveness. Prufrock then
starts thinking of his appearance if he were to let this be known. He thinks about how his perfect
world is not ready for a idea of this magnitude to come forth. Prufrock knows that if his
homosexuality was to be known, the perfect universe that he knows would the destroyed.
At first glance lines forty nine through sixty one seem to be about him wanting death. This, however,
is not the case. Furthermore, we see him asking himself what he should do if he does come out and tell
people of his sexuality. He is weighing the possibilities and the reprocutions of his decision. He
finnaly comes to the conclusion that evrything is alright now and he does not want to disturb this
peacfulness. Line eighty seven clearly tells us that he did not come out. Yet he is also second guessing
his decision. No, he tells himself, it would not have been worth his own morality to ruin everyones
perfect picture of himself. Prufrock would miss the boring events, or would he?
In truth, we find that Prufrock would have rather told the truth about his homosexuality. But, we find
that he is insecure about himself. With his lack of insecurity

No Stipend for College Athletes Essay examples
No Stipend for the Athletes
When people think of college they automatically connect it to football or basketball, because these
sports are a major part of any college s means of funding and advertising. Athletics in college over the
years has become increasingly big amongst the social media and people. Today you could turn on the
TV and almost always see a college football or basketball game playing. With the increasing interest
in these sports and their players, people are starting to question if the players should get compensation
for the hard work and publicity they bring to their college. While many may be in favor of college
athletes being paid, I am not. College athletes should not get any more money than they already have

They would also have to pay women s volleyball and softball as well. It doesn t matter if men s
football and basketball bring in the most revenue or not(Gaines, Cork). Also where would the money
come from? The University of Texas would not have any problem paying all their student athletes but
what about small colleges? Small colleges do not bring in the revenue that big colleges bring in and if
only big colleges could pay their player then that would lead into unfair recruitment and the colleges
that could pay would be able to get any player they wanted. Lastly these players do not need to get
paid in college, because college sports are meant to get the athletes ready for a professional career.
These athletes that play in college are getting a wide spectrum of exposure and experience. They
perform in a high profile environment, and gain access to incredible networks of people, says John
Rowady, president of sports marketing firm rEvolution (Riper, Tom Van). Take Johnny Manziel for
instance, he was playing on Texas A M and because of his success he was able to enter the 2014 NFL
draft with his teammate Mike Evans. Johnny Manziel is currently in the top 5 (Stankevitz, JJ).
Whatever these college athletes don t make playing in college, they can make up when they get into a
professional career. When Manziel is drafted he can earn up to $5 18 million dollars a year (Barnett,
Phillips). College athletes are not

animals in question. Appropriate enclosure design is critical to all three parties.
Neofelis nebulosais is classed as a dangerous wild animal according to the document produced in

Self Control And Its Effect On Society
According to BrainyQuote, Buddha once said, To enjoy good health, to bring true happiness to one s
family, to bring peace to all, one must first discipline and control one s own mind. If a man can control
his mind he can find the way to Enlightenment, and all wisdom and virtue will naturally come to him.
Self control is the restraint from oneself and actions, particularly in one s desires and emotions. It
separates us, humans, from ancient ancestors as well as the rest of the animal kingdom. When one has
the chance to enact poorly and cause harm to others, self control is the essential aspect one must learn
to withdraw from these activities. Commonly, being able to control one s actions provides the
difference between life and death. To many people in today s society, emotions that arise from
sensitive situations may result in the use of violence in order to receive closure. Guns, for example,
are deadly weapons used to accomplish these acts, and when people fail to yield the use of guns,
problems arise. Gun control is a well disputed argument regarding the regulations enacted upon the
withdrawal from guns.
History of Gun Control and the Origins of the Problem Gun control involves laws and policies that
regulate the ownership and use of guns in order to reduce crime. These regulations control the
manufacture, sale, possession, transfer, and use of firearms in the interest of controlling violence. One
key term to become familiarized with firearms is an assault weapon.

The Electronic Medical Record
For a nation to be technologically advanced, the United States (U.S.) is having a hard time
overcoming the dark era of utilizing hand written scripts, progress notes, and paper records. In
comparison to other countries, the U.S. is lagging behind in the health care system. Even with all the
improvements that have been made recently, the U.S. ranked last in 2014 in areas such as access,
efficiency and equity compared to Australia, Canada, France Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand,
Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom (Davis, Stremikis, Squires, Schoen, 2014).
Now, as our nation is trying to improve the quality, access, and proficiency of our health care,
concerns have been raised whether the new policies are adequate enough for privacy amongst sharing
and obtaining health information. This paper was put together to give background information on how
the electronic medical record came about and whether privacy is a major concern amongst the
American population.
Background
The dark era of medical records caused people s private health information not to be safe. A few
examples of how patient records were not protected includes patient records were found in dumpsters
outside of physician s offices, patient records were found washed ashore in Maine, and in one instance
a teacher from Salt Lake City purchased medical records from 28 Florida hospitals to use as scrap
paper for her students (Thede, 2010). Moreover, in the past patient records used to be fully

Use Of Electronic Media
I have heard people say that someone is on their phone too much . I guess this statement could
describe myself because I spend almost any moment when I am not busy on my iPhone. In fact, I have
even spent some money on subscriptions for mobile apps. But at times, I give up usage of electronic
media to focus on life s simple pleasures. By keeping track of my use of electronic media, I have
gained a clear understanding of how such usage affects my life. On Saturday, August 26, 2017, I used
my iPad for over five hours. I spent over three hours playing video games on my family s Xbox One
console, almost 2 ½ hours using my MacBook Pro laptop, and over two hours watching television. I
only used my iPhone for 15 minutes. Two days later, I used my phone for over five hours, while I
surfed the Internet on my computer for nearly half the time. I spent more than a half hour on my tablet
and about the same amount of time on a Windows computer at school. And the next day, I spent over 4
½ hours on my phone and more than 3 ½ hours using my tablet. I used a Mac computer at school for
more than an hour and my laptop for more than half the time. I think my use of electronic media
definitely reflects my personality and interests. I like to stay informed of current events, so I
constantly check my phone for notifications I need to clear, as well as my Gmail and Facebook
accounts. I enjoy watching true crime television series, including American Greed, Snapped, Deadly
Sins, and Deadly Women. I rely on the Xfinity Stream, Oxygen Now, and ID (Investigation
Discovery) GO to view this genre of shows. I like to unwind with a game every once in awhile, and I
often play Bee Brilliant, Family Feud 2, Family Feud Live, Wheel of Fortune, and Wheel of Fortune
Free Play on both my phone and my tablet. Very rarely do I play video games on a console, but I enjoy
driving games, including Grand Theft Auto V. I play this game on my family s Xbox One, while my
father and brother usually monopolize it. I also watch my two favorite game shows, Wheel of Fortune

Comparing Oil Pipelines
By contrast, oil pipelines carry far more crude oil and have fewer leaks per mile. They also present
fewer safety risks than the 2009 explosions when Burlington Northern Santa Fe oil cars caught fire in
Oklahoma, requiring evacuations. (http;//www.wsj.com) No form of energy production or transport is
without risks, so the issue is how to do it as safely and efficiently as possible. Canada and North
Dakota are going to keep producing oil as long as America and the world keep using it, which is likely
to be many, many years to come. An oil spill is the release of a liquid petroleum hydrocarbon into the
environment, especially marine areas, due to human activity, and is a form of pollution. The term is
usually applied to marine oil spills, where oil is released into the ocean or coastal waters, but spills
may occur on land. (www.wikipedia.com) Oil spills into rivers, bays, and the ocean most often are

Hypertension Is The Medical Term For Having High Blood...
In this project Jose, Diana, Adrian and I were tasked with producing a menu for persons with
hypertension and a nut allergy. Hypertension is the medical term for having high blood pressure. One
of the main causes of hypertension is a poor diet. It is affected most commonly by high levels of
sodium (Pg. 321). To combat high blood pressure, the DASH diet was developed. DASH stands for
dietary approaches to stop hypertension. Foods that are recommended to eat while on the DASH diet
are whole grains, fruits and vegetables, fat free or low fat dairy, lean meat, poultry, fish, nuts, seeds,
beans, fats and oils, sweets, and sodium limited to under 2400 milligrams per day (Pg. 322). The only
perceivable obstacle for the menu development was the recommendation for nuts. However, the
nutrients provided through nuts can be found in other foods like fats and oils and various protein
sources. The first item on the menu is a quinoa patty as an appetizer. The dish contains quinoa, carrot,
celery, onion, egg, olive oil, peppers, and a dash of salt. We chose this as our appetizer because it
appears to follow the DASH diet quite well. Quinoa is a whole grain; carrots, celery, onions, and
peppers represent the fruits and vegetables category; the egg is not a low fat dairy product, but the
amount of egg in the recipe is very minimal; olive oil is a fat and oil, and the quinoa patties are lightly
salted in an attempt to keep flavor yet stay under the recommended daily limit. The first entree

San Diego Beaches In Florida
San Diego is a city in California that has about 17 miles of coastline, which offers a variety of beaches
( San Diego Beaches ). Pacific Ocean is the ocean that borders coast in California. Three major rock
formations can be found in the North County beaches in San Diego, which are Bay Point Formation,
the Torrey Sandstone, and Del Mar Formation. Bay Point Formation is about 100,000 years old, which
is also the youngest rock formation, and it has a higher possibility for erosion to occur (Metzler). The
Torrey Sandstone is about 46 million years old, it has a lighter color than Bay Point Formation, and it
is hard enough to provide protection for the softer Bay Point Formation (Metzler). Del Mar Formation

The main reason for the difference is that the two places are at different sides , one in the east, the
other in the west, and because of this difference, the weather at these places can also have a big effect
on the beaches. Erosion is a process that occurs at both the beaches in San Diego and Northeast
Florida. The only difference between the two is that in San Diego, the erosion occurs on the bluffs,
while in Florida, it occurs on the dunes. Both the natural and human activities cause erosion to occur
at both places. The activities include the weather, such as the storms can wash away the sand, which
will eventually cause erosion to occur, and human building structures near the shorelines can allow
erosion to happen. Although erosion is still occurring at the shorelines, people have tried to do some
activities that can help reduce or slow the bluff and dunes erosion at both places. In San Diego, people

Ischemic Stroke Case Study Paper
Case Study: Patient with Ischemic Stroke Mrs. Alice Palmer is a 54 year old married woman who has
been admitted and is being treated with an ischemic stroke which she had 18 hours ago. This paper
explores the nursing care of Mrs. Alice Palmer based on the clinical reasoning cycle by considering
her situation first, collecting cues and information about her, processing the information gathered, then
identifying problems or issues she is experiencing, and finally carrying out a detailed assessment.
Also, the paper focuses on setting goals and establishing a nursing care plan in the community, and
target ethnically safe practice. Ischemic stroke occurs when the brain tissue does not receive sufficient
oxygenated blood due to an obstruction of the carotid artery (Brunner, Suddarth, Smeltzer, 2008).

Alice Palmer has a mild brain tissue damage associated with the ischemic stroke as evidenced by a
Glasgow Coma Scale score of 15. On the other hand, she has a normal heart rate of 89 beats per

indication of stage 1 hypertension. Mrs. Alice Palmer is hypertensive because she refused to take
medication while she was at home (Grace Meissner, 2011; Fortrat Gharib, 2016). Further, Mrs. Alice

hemiparesis is a weak muscle tone of the left side of the body which leads to faded movement and

Moreover, damage to the right side of the brain is associated with poor memory since the limbic

Ernest Shackleton Research Paper
A journey of a thousands miles begins with a single step, said the chinese philosopher Laozi. Ernest
Shackleton was one of the most influential explorers known for his efforts in Antarctica because he
inspired many people, led important expeditions and had helpful traits for the expedition. Groups of
people have retraced many of the journeys Shackleton took, not only in Antarctica. Ernest Shackleton
was known as heroic. Klug said in his article Anyone who has heard of his heroic exploits. Ken Klug
was among a group of people who retraced Shackleton s steps. The location that this adventure was
reinvented in Georgia known as the Crossing South Georgia in the footsteps of Sir Ernest Shackleton.

How Sugar Had Become A Dominant Product Of Sugar Production
In the late 17th and 18th centuries, sugar had become a dominant product in numerous plantations in
the Caribbean. The French and British continually competed over the dominance in these particular
sites. The British sugar industry finally took hold in 1655, and lasted up until the mid 19th century
(Background Essay). Due to the ideal land masses for sugar production (Doc. 1, 2, 6, 7), a large slave
work force (Doc. 8, 9, 10, 11), high consumer demand (Doc. 3, 5), and competition in the trading
industry (Doc. 4, 12), the sugar trade was able to flourish and remained a part of the global economy.
As shown in documents 1, 2, 6 and 7, one driving force of the success of the sugar trade was finding
the perfect area to establish sugar ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, it was undeniable that these conditions were significant in the success of producing this
export. In document 6, Belgrove demonstrated that owning a plantation was a big deal, requiring the
owner to obtain possession of a plethora of supplies and items, such as windmills, a boiling house, and
the amount of slaves and animals necessary. All of these things were needed in order to run a fully
functioning plantation. The date that this document was made, 1755, indicates that it could be a
credible source, for it was created in the middle of the diffusion of the sugar trading business. In
document 7, Mintz states that mainly wealthy English families owned plantations. Men like Robert
Hibbert and John Gladstone collected a great amount of wealth through the ownership of the large
areas of land and through the amount of sugar produced by the African slaves (Doc. 7). This denotes
the view that an effective way to gain wealth was through the ownership of the sugar plantations, thus
encouraging others to do so as well; ultimately the desire for more wealth leads to an increase in the
production of sugar and boosts the development of the sugar trade. However, Williams failed to
mention how long it took these plantation owners to acquire that much wealth, which can cause the
readers of this excerpt to think that these owners had instant success.

changeable scenes that constantly used the rectangular entrance. It easily drawn the audiences
attention when the actor entered because the lighting drenched the entrance, cueing the actors to enter.
The vacant couch placed before the performance began could be distorted into chairs, short end tables,
and a love seat. One scene I remembered that distorted the couch apart into an assortment of furniture
was Marvin s visit at the psychologist s office. Before the scene was cued, the couch was distorted
into a love seat, and a chair. These props conveniently made it a less hassle changing furniture pieces.

first described by Sven Ivar Sledinger in 1952 (Watcher 2000) and is still the standard for inserting

into the desired blood vessel and aspirate to make sure you are in the vein 3. insert a guidewire
through the needle 4. advance the catheter over the guidewire to the appropriate distance 5. remove

contact (or the release) of the movement. For example, the moment of contact in a tennis serve
between the ball and racquet, the actual release of the shot put or javelin, or the take off in long jump.
This is the point that determines the effectiveness of the skill. Successful execution requires the athlete
to apply the correct amount of force, in the correct direction and with precision timing. It is often
difficult for the coach to observe and assess the movement within this phase, as the movement takes
place very quickly. Ask: ● What is an example of the critical instant in another sport? Why is that?
Say: ● THE FOLLOW THROUGH PHASE ● The follow through refers to the body movements
occurring after the execution phase. This phase is where the movement slows down after impact and
the athlete prepares for the next action. For example, the high leg lift after kicking a goal in rugby, the
path of the golf club after the ball is struck, or landing in gymnastic. The follow through is important

THE STRATEGIES OF SEATBELT POLICY AND PLANNING
Seatbelt policy require a combined approach which include the legislation, penalties, standards and
interventions (mandatory and voluntary) in order to increase the compliance of its enforcement.
Enforcement of this policy is expected to be the most effective tool for a high level compliance among
the motorists.
Pre requirements
There are three basic requirements to be followed before the enforcement campaign begins.
1. Lead by example: All government agencies, most especially the
Police departments, health and transportation should make it mandatory for all their staffs under their
employee contracts to always be seen wearing the seatbelts at all times.
2. Inform the public about enhanced enforcement: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The capacity of police force in terms of number and resources should be examined in advance so as to
explore the procedure to take in order to integrate the enforcement of seatbelt law into existing
policing activities. Traffic police must be well trained in the seatbelt law and how best to enforce it.
Once the resources owned by the police is determined, they can easily decide whether to introduce a
blanket enforcement which covers all areas or phase enforcement where they target areas where
seatbelt wearing rate is low or areas where casualty rates is high among vehicle occupants.
Actions of the police when violators are apprehended can also be phased. Warnings and explanation of
the new laws could be started with for a specific period before the introduction of the appropriate
fines. Increasing the fine severity can also help to increase the use of seatbelts among the vehicles
occupant but this can only be implemented through legislation process.
However, senior police officers and other top government officials are expected to take a lead in the
initial planning and implementation. Police commanders must appreciate the enforcement cost
compared to the rescue operations cost, medical treatment and rehabilitation of the

Antigone Minor Character Analysis
When one reads Antigone by Sophocles, one often assumes that Ismene is merely a foil to Antigone.
This is because Antigone is daring and dramatic and Ismene is quiet and secretive. By considering that
Ismene is more than just Antigone s foil, one can determine that Ismene plays a substantial role in
Antigone. Although many people see Ismene as a minor character, Ismene is, in fact, a major
character.
Ismene is a major character because of her secretive actions. While it may not seem this way at first,
Ismene does stand up to Creon in her own way. Her sister, Antigone, is notorious for her dramatic
rebellion in which her action results in punishment. Ismene, however, is able to escape punishment
because she secretly rebels against Creon. By using verbal irony, Ismene is able to appear as if she
agrees with Creon when she actually rebels against him. In her conversation with Antigone, Ismene
states:
We are only women;
We cannot fight with men, Antigone!
The law is strong, we must give in to the law
In this thing, and in worse. I beg the dead
To forgive me, but I am helpless: I must yield
To those in authority. (Sophocles Prologue 46 51)
Everyone thinks of Ismene as a supporter of Creon because she does not show that she secretly rebels
against him. Ismene s secretive actions allow her to rebel against Creon while still escaping
punishment.
Ismene is able to get away with her actions because she creates onstage and offstage behaviors
(Kirkpatrick 405). Her onstage

The Cross Tattoo Culture
The cross tattoo meaning centers around the culture of its origins, the time frame of its original design,

A Week I The Woods By Karl Maxwell Quotes
I really enjoyed the book A Week I the Woods by Andrew Clements. When a rich 5th grader, Mark
Chelmsely, realizes he must attend the field trip he decides that he is going to prove to his teacher, Mr.
Maxwell, that he isn t just a slacker. Instead he puts himself and Mr. Maxwell in a whole bunch of
danger. The main theme of this book is everybody deserves a second chance, because even when Mark
is very rude towards Mr. Maxwell they end up becoming friends in the end of the book. My first quote
shows that in the begging of the story Mr. Maxwell does not like Mark. The quote is But after 22 years
in the classroom, Mr. Maxwell could spot a slacker a mile away. And by Wednesday afternoon at the
end of his third class with mark he reached his decision: This new boy was a slacker (Clements 22). In
this quote it shows how Mr. Maxwell judges Mark and immediately dislikes him because of his
attitude. It only took Three days before Mr. Maxwell decides that he dislikes Mark. This relates to the
theme, everybody deserves a second chance, because it shows that one may not like a person at first
but it doesn t mean one should not give that person a second chance. ... Show more content on

Performance management is collaborative such that the expectations of the management of a certain
employee have to be set by discussion and consultation between the organization s management and
the worker such that the performance standards are set and attainable according to the capabilities of
the employee (Mondy, Noe Gowan, 2005). Performance management consists of a cycle of
interrelated activities. The first stage of the cycle is the clarification of expectations. Employees have
to be involved at this point since it is the main determinant of their actions. This stage focuses on the
setting of the goals and standards of the evaluation of performance that are both attainable and
realistic according to the capabilities of the employee. The second stage in the performance
management cycle is the planning and development of the performance. The stage concerns itself with
the actual actions that the employees will undertake in order to reach their key performance indicators
in their respective result areas. The performance management planning acts as the basis of control on
the performance. The third step is the monitoring of the performance. Performance management has to
be conducted as an ongoing case for the attainment of the overall goals of the organization. Current
performance management helps in the creation of the right information concerning the performance of
a certain group. It is also the primary basis for the evaluation of the

Muscle Electromyography Analysis
A muscle is composed of multiple individual muscle fibers that are organized in a motor unit that is
innervated by a single motor neuron. The motor neuron is responsible for propagating an action
potential resulting in the muscle fibers in the motor unit contracting. An electromyography (EMG) is
able to detect the depolarization of the muscle fibers, characterizing an action potential, and help
quantify the number of active fibers and the magnitude of force. We hypothesize that the triceps will
be activated more for movements involving supination with and without elbow extension than during
reverse and regular curls as indicated by values from the EMG. We tested the hypothesis by
connecting two surface level electrodes to the triceps and

The Devil in the White City Analysis Paper
The Devil in the White City a novel written by Erick Larson, a book that consisted of a national
wonder in the Chicago World Columbian Exposition of 1893 or better known as the Chicago world
fair, as well with the fair goer predating murders committed by the famous serial killer
Dr.H.H.Holmes. Larson uses contrast between Chief architect of the Chicago World Fair Daniel
Hudson Burnham and serial killer H.H.Holmes. Larson then brings out juxtaposition between the
White City and the Black City (World fair vs. Chicago). Larson uses detailed imagery on the visual of
the fair.
In the time, famous architect Daniel Hudson Burnham won everybody s hearts and trust through the
idea of the Chicago World s Exposition (World Fair). While in the dark Holmes held his place as a

Students with anxiety often worry about their competence, even when they are not being evaluated
(Durwin, 467). These struggles affect the performance of adults in their everyday lives and more
specifically; a child s performance in academics. It is the role as an educator, to aid students with
anxiety and other disorders with coping with these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this circumstance, Susie feels over stimulated due to her need for perfection; inevitably causing her
to fall behind on assignments. Someone with severe anxiety splits their attention between their anxiety
and the task, instead of focusing solely on the assignment. This is made apparent through Susie s lack
of assignment completion. She is going through something known as the vicious cycle. Essentially,
Susie becomes fixated on a specific part of her assignment which distracts her from completing the
full project, leading to a poor grade and disappointment from Susie; causing more anxiety and another
incomplete assignment due to the lack of focus. Therefore, Susie cannot perform at the optimal level.
A simple task as mentioned earlier, notetaking; provides everyone with a tolerance for a higher arousal
level. Notetaking is something that can be performed with less thought, effort, and stress which allows
someone with anxiety to partake in the activity more easily. Provided that Susie s main problems are
anxiety, disorganization, and perfectionism; it is important to design a modification plan that will
reduce these symptoms and create an environment that is more conducive to her learning. To begin, an
educator can use the shaping method, inclusive of a cognitive behavioral treatment and token
economy, as a way to control Susie s disorder. Shaping involves reinforcing small steps that move
toward the behavior until the entire behavior is displayed (Durwin

Happiness Is The Result Of Happiness
Happiness is the result of luck, at least according to the people who invented the word way back
when. The word itself is rooted in luck; Darrin M. McMahon, Ph.D., a professor of history at
Dartmouth College, says that ... in every Indo European language, without exception... the word
happiness is a cognate with the word luck. Or, as a monk in Chaucer s Canterbury Tales put it, ... the
wheel of fortune controls our happenstance, and hence our happiness. He was not talking about the
Wheel of Fortune that s on at 6:00 pm every night where people spin a giant gaudy wheel and solve
word puzzles to win money. No, he meant the omniscient wheel of fortune that controls every aspect
of everyone s life. While the wheel of fortune spun freely in some parts of the world, the road to
happiness was included more resistance in other parts. Schools of Classical thought famous
philosophers with weird names like Plato and Socrates should come to mind believed happiness was
earned. Not only did they believe happiness was earned, they believed that to achieve it, you had to go
the extra mile (or 10 miles) with moral behavior. But once you had moral behavior, by gosh your life
could be going to hell in a handbasket and you d still be happy. Today, in modern America, happiness
is something that is worked for. Complete your goals and happiness shall be yours. You may have to
fall in a couple of ditches and break some bones along the way, metaphorically and literally, but
happiness is

An Alpine Divorce
The atmosphere of the story is very intense. The atmosphere of the story is first set up by language the
narrator uses describing John Bodman, marriage ,and the world around him(the narrator). In some
natures there are no half tones , the mathematical chances are all such a meeting, and this is the reason
that of divorce courts exist. , Marriage at best is a compromise . These quotes are very intense to hear.
The narrator is a person who deals in absolutes, calculates even the most menial things in life, he
besmirches the sanctity of marriage and takes marriage for granted. These are things that a cold,
calculating, cynical person would say. The intense atmosphere of the story is also portrayed through
the setting of the story, the Swiss Alps. The Alps are the one of the highest mountain ranges in the
world. The Alps are also considered a very cold place due to snow and high winds and isolated place
since most people only stay and lounge there, but few trek the Alps. A high, cold, isolated place is a
very dangerous place to be and if we stay there, it would be considered a high stakes, intense situation
since hazards are left and right such as high winds. Proven by setting and diction, An Alpine Divorce
has an atmosphere. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The use of 3rd person perspective contributes to feint presented in the story since we only know the
intent of John Bodeman and not Mrs Bodeman. We know that John Bodeman has plans to murder his
wife, that is what is explicitly said in the beginning of the story as well as the characterization of John
Bodman s negative perspective of marriage. This is what we the reader expect that John Bodeman will
kill his wife, but our expectations are not met and instead Mrs.Bodeman kills herself and pins her
suicide on John Bodeman, which is a perfect manipulation of the readers expectations and overall an
amazing use of

Short Essay On Vampires
For over the years vampires have changed from the beginning of Dracula to more modern day
vampires like Twilight. Some people may even believe in them. So, which is realistic? How do they
keep changing over time? A vampire is a human that survives off human blood and has fangs. Now
vampires don t need to survive off human blood, and some of them even have some power where they
can see into the future and read minds. Nothing can kill a vampire unless you drive a stake through his
or her heart. Vampires can t come out in the day, but only at night. Now some of them come out in the
day. In the 15th century there was a Dracula. The myth was based off a guy named Vlad Tepes also
known as Vlad the Impaler. He follows some of the characteristics of ... Show more content on

Not only do they have every aspect other vampires do, but they have powers. They all don t have the
same power as the other. Edward can see what the humans and vampire are thinking about. His sister
has visions to where she can see what happens way before it does. These vampire are pale and they
sparkle in the sun. The boys are muscular and are what every girl would want. They have fast reflexes
and can run faster than a cheetah. Crucifixes and garlic do not bother these vampires. The only way to
kill these vampire are a stake through the heart. The Cullen s are the vampires who drink the blood of
animals not humans. They have to learn to control themselves around human blood. The other
vampires they do not get along with drink the blood from humans, and that is why they don t get
along. Edward falls in love with a girl named Bella. She ends up finding out what him and his family
really is, but loves him anyways. He cares about her and would never do anything to hurt her or her
family. For some reason Edward can not read Bella s mind. He also loves the scent of her. Not only is
there vampire in this book, but there are werewolves. Vampires do not get along with the werewolves.
Bella is the reason the vampires and werewolves got along. Later on in Bella and Edwards relationship
Bella ends up pregnant with Edwards baby. It is highly rare vampires can have babies. In order for
Bella and the baby to survive is to drink blood. Since the baby is a vampire it feeds off Bella from the
inside if it is hungry and needs blood. Bella becomes sick and her bones brake while she is pregnant.
When it s time for her to give birth the baby comes out alive and Bella then dies. Edward becomes
upset and bites

the body s immune system. This will help in increasing the body s resistance to flu and cold.
A stress free lifestyle

As Richard Dyer suggests, that stars are representations of persons which reinforce, legitimate or occasionally alter the prevalent conceptions of what it is to be a human being in this society (1979b: 31). Thus far I have discussed the role of such personae in films. However, major sites for elaborating star personae exist outside films in studio promotion departments, publicity agencies, newspaper and broadcast journalism, TV chat shows, film criticism, fan magazines and so on. The circulation of subsidiary star texts provides opportunity for gossip and speculation, serving, in John Ellis words, as a kind of moral barometer . Generally, the way you progress in your life is how you progress artistically especially as an actor, where you bring such complicated and personal experiences into what you do everyday (Tseng ... • 3. Jealousy In Othello Analyzing William Shakespeare s Othello There are many different emotions like sadness, happiness, and joyfulness just to name a few that people can experience. One of the most powerful and sometimes dangerous emotions is Jealousy. Jealousy is a powerful emotion that most people experience at some point in their life. However, not everyone is affected in the same way. Some people are filled with insecurity. While others are filled with fear. Most people experience anger. In William Shakespeare s Othello the audience learns through the characterization of Othello and Iago, the symbolism of the handkerchief, and through Othello denying that he is jealous we learn that jealousy can make people behave irrationally in certain circumstances. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Othello s mom gave Othello the handkerchief, and told him to give it to his wife if he should be married. This quote indicates that the handkerchief was then given to Desdemona as a precious valuable item and losing it would be a catastrophe like no other. Lynda Boose argues that [t]he handkerchief that will become to Othello evidence of her lust [where instead it] has always been evidence of exactly the opposite nature (Boose 270). This indicates that the handkerchief was a sign of her love but will transform into a sign of her adultery. Although the audience knows that Othello is jealous. Othello himself denies that he has been consumed by jealousy, and that he has been behaving irrationally. Othello claims that it is the cause, [his] soul. Let me not name it to you, you chaste stars. It is the cause. Yet I ll not shed [Desdemona s] blood (Shakespeare 5.2.1 3). Denying that he is jealous Othello claims that he is not going to kill Desdemona as of this moment. He also insist that the reasoning to killing Desdemona would be because of justice, and not jealousy. After killing Desdemona Othello argues with Emilia that Cassio did top [Desdemona]. Ask thy husband [Iago] else O, I were damned beneath all depth in hell [b]ut that proceed upon just grounds (Shakespeare 5.2.139 142). • 4. Emi Group Case Study While conducting the analysis of EMI group s dividend policy, one factor that stood out to us was the clientele effect. The clientele effect shows us who holds most of our outstanding shares. High tax bracket individuals would prefer zero to low dividend payout to save on taxes. Low tax bracket individuals would prefer a low to medium dividend payout, which gives them additional income while helping them save on taxes. An investing corporation would prefer a higher dividend payout because if they own a significant amount of shares, say 1 million, the income stream from that dividend would provide the company with more monetary resources while benefitting from tax exemptions. EMI GROUP PLC Teaching Note Synopsis This case examines the April 2007 decision of British music company EMI to suspend its annual dividend as the company struggled to respond to the effect of digital audio distribution on its core business. The EMI case is intended to serve as an engaging introduction to corporate financial policy and themes in managing the right side of the balance sheet. The case contrasts EMI s storied success with artists such as the Beatles, the Beach Boys, Pink Floyd, and Norah Jones with its recent inability to succeed in financial markets. In light of takeover threats and restructuring costs, EMI s CFO Martin Stewart must recommend EMI s dividend policy. • 5. Marine Biology And Ocean Conservation Marine Biology and Ocean Conservation is a very important major. It consists of many fields that deal with marine ecosystems and how they affect the world around them. Some fields of study are focused on conservation work, which is cleaning up the ocean, protecting wildlife, and rehabilitation. The ocean is a vast area of water that contains many ecosystems that are beneficial to humans and other organisms. An abundant amount of human waste ends up in the ocean, which has contaminated marine ecosystems. Pollution is a key factor in the killing of many species of fish and plants, which affects the cycle of marine life. The limiting of waste and recycling recyclable matter is very important because it will limit the amount of waste that pollutes the water. Polyps make up the living portion of corals with strong skeletons. The corals extract calcium from the seawater and combine it with calcium carbonate to make limestone structures that create the reef. Ocean acidification is another contributor to the killing of species. This process is when the ocean absorbs carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and suffocates all of the living organisms. If pollution reduction does not occur then many species of plants will not survive and marine plants produce roughly about 60% of the oxygen that is on Earth. The world s coral reefs, from the Great Barrier Reef off Australia to the Seychelles off East Africa, are in grave danger of dying out completely by mid century unless carbon ... • 14. Self Control And Its Effect On Society According to BrainyQuote, Buddha once said, To enjoy good health, to bring true happiness to one s family, to bring peace to all, one must first discipline and control one s own mind. If a man can control his mind he can find the way to Enlightenment, and all wisdom and virtue will naturally come to him. Self control is the restraint from oneself and actions, particularly in one s desires and emotions. It separates us, humans, from ancient ancestors as well as the rest of the animal kingdom. When one has the chance to enact poorly and cause harm to others, self control is the essential aspect one must learn to withdraw from these activities. Commonly, being able to control one s actions provides the difference between life and death. To many people in today s society, emotions that arise from sensitive situations may result in the use of violence in order to receive closure. Guns, for example, are deadly weapons used to accomplish these acts, and when people fail to yield the use of guns, problems arise. Gun control is a well disputed argument regarding the regulations enacted upon the withdrawal from guns. History of Gun Control and the Origins of the Problem Gun control involves laws and policies that regulate the ownership and use of guns in order to reduce crime. These regulations control the manufacture, sale, possession, transfer, and use of firearms in the interest of controlling violence. The Electronic Medical Record For a nation to be technologically advanced, the United States (U.S.) is having a hard time overcoming the dark era of utilizing hand written scripts, progress notes, and paper records. In comparison to other countries, the U.S. is lagging behind in the health care system. Even with all the improvements that have been made recently, the U.S. ranked last in 2014 in areas such as access, efficiency and equity compared to Australia, Canada, France Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom (Davis, Stremikis, Squires, Schoen, 2014). Now, as our nation is trying to improve the quality, access, and proficiency of our health care, concerns have been raised whether the new policies are adequate enough for privacy amongst sharing and obtaining health information. This paper was put together to give background information on how the electronic medical record came about and whether privacy is a major concern amongst the American population. Background The dark era of medical records caused people s private health information not to be safe. A few examples of how patient records were not protected includes patient records were found in dumpsters outside of physician s offices, patient records were found washed ashore in Maine, and in one instance a teacher from Salt Lake City purchased medical records from 28 Florida hospitals to use as scrap paper for her students (Thede, 2010). • 16. Use Of Electronic Media I have heard people say that someone is on their phone too much . I guess this statement could describe myself because I spend almost any moment when I am not busy on my iPhone. In fact, I have even spent some money on subscriptions for mobile apps. But at times, I give up usage of electronic media to focus on life s simple pleasures. By keeping track of my use of electronic media, I have gained a clear understanding of how such usage affects my life. On Saturday, August 26, 2017, I used my iPad for over five hours. I spent over three hours playing video games on my family s Xbox One console, almost 2 ½ hours using my MacBook Pro laptop, and over two hours watching television. I only used my iPhone for 15 minutes. Two days later, I used my phone for over five hours, while I surfed the Internet on my computer for nearly half the time. I spent more than a half hour on my tablet and about the same amount of time on a Windows computer at school. And the next day, I spent over 4 ½ hours on my phone and more than 3 ½ hours using my tablet. I used a Mac computer at school for more than an hour and my laptop for more than half the time. I think my use of electronic media definitely reflects my personality and interests. I like to stay informed of current events, so I constantly check my phone for notifications I need to clear, as well as my Gmail and Facebook accounts. I enjoy watching true crime television series, including American Greed, Snapped, Deadly Sins, and Deadly Women. I rely on the Xfinity Stream, Oxygen Now, and ID (Investigation Discovery) GO to view this genre of shows. I like to unwind with a game every once in awhile, and I often play Bee Brilliant, Family Feud 2, Family Feud Live, Wheel of Fortune, and Wheel of Fortune Free Play on both my phone and my tablet. Very rarely do I play video games on a console, but I enjoy driving games, including Grand Theft Auto V. I play this game on my family s Xbox One, while my father and brother usually monopolize it. • 19. Hypertension Is The Medical Term For Having High Blood... In this project Jose, Diana, Adrian and I were tasked with producing a menu for persons with hypertension and a nut allergy. Hypertension is the medical term for having high blood pressure. One of the main causes of hypertension is a poor diet. It is affected most commonly by high levels of sodium (Pg. 321). To combat high blood pressure, the DASH diet was developed. DASH stands for dietary approaches to stop hypertension. Foods that are recommended to eat while on the DASH diet are whole grains, fruits and vegetables, fat free or low fat dairy, lean meat, poultry, fish, nuts, seeds, beans, fats and oils, sweets, and sodium limited to under 2400 milligrams per day (Pg. 322). The only perceivable obstacle for the menu development was the recommendation for nuts. However, the nutrients provided through nuts can be found in other foods like fats and oils and various protein sources. The first item on the menu is a quinoa patty as an appetizer. The dish contains quinoa, carrot, celery, onion, egg, olive oil, peppers, and a dash of salt. We chose this as our appetizer because it appears to follow the DASH diet quite well. Pacific Ocean is the ocean that borders coast in California. Three major rock formations can be found in the North County beaches in San Diego, which are Bay Point Formation, the Torrey Sandstone, and Del Mar Formation. The main reason for the difference is that the two places are at different sides , one in the east, the other in the west, and because of this difference, the weather at these places can also have a big effect on the beaches. Erosion is a process that occurs at both the beaches in San Diego and Northeast Florida. The only difference between the two is that in San Diego, the erosion occurs on the bluffs, while in Florida, it occurs on the dunes. Both the natural and human activities cause erosion to occur at both places. The activities include the weather, such as the storms can wash away the sand, which will eventually cause erosion to occur, and human building structures near the shorelines can allow erosion to happen. Although erosion is still occurring at the shorelines, people have tried to do some activities that can help reduce or slow the bluff and dunes erosion at both places. In San Diego, people have built sea walls and placed riprap along the shorelines to help prevent erosion. Sea walls are usually made up of boulders, steels, and concrete and they are more expensive to build than the riprap (Metzler). • 24. How Sugar Had Become A Dominant Product Of Sugar Production In the late 17th and 18th centuries, sugar had become a dominant product in numerous plantations in the Caribbean. The French and British continually competed over the dominance in these particular sites. The British sugar industry finally took hold in 1655, and lasted up until the mid 19th century (Background Essay). Due to the ideal land masses for sugar production (Doc. 1, 2, 6, 7), a large slave work force (Doc. 8, 9, 10, 11), high consumer demand (Doc. 3, 5), and competition in the trading industry (Doc. 4, 12), the sugar trade was able to flourish and remained a part of the global economy. In document 6, Belgrove demonstrated that owning a plantation was a big deal, requiring the owner to obtain possession of a plethora of supplies and items, such as windmills, a boiling house, and the amount of slaves and animals necessary. All of these things were needed in order to run a fully functioning plantation. The date that this document was made, 1755, indicates that it could be a credible source, for it was created in the middle of the diffusion of the sugar trading business. In document 7, Mintz states that mainly wealthy English families owned plantations. Men like Robert Hibbert and John Gladstone collected a great amount of wealth through the ownership of the large areas of land and through the amount of sugar produced by the African slaves (Doc. 7). This denotes the view that an effective way to gain wealth was through the ownership of the sugar plantations, thus encouraging others to do so as well; ultimately the desire for more wealth leads to an increase in the production of sugar and boosts the development of the sugar trade. However, Williams failed to mention how long it took these plantation owners to acquire that much wealth, which can cause the readers of this excerpt to think that these owners had instant success. ... This is because Antigone is daring and dramatic and Ismene is quiet and secretive. By considering that Ismene is more than just Antigone s foil, one can determine that Ismene plays a substantial role in Antigone. Although many people see Ismene as a minor character, Ismene is, in fact, a major character. Ismene is a major character because of her secretive actions. While it may not seem this way at first, Ismene does stand up to Creon in her own way. Her sister, Antigone, is notorious for her dramatic rebellion in which her action results in punishment. Ismene, however, is able to escape punishment because she secretly rebels against Creon. By using verbal irony, Ismene is able to appear as if she agrees with Creon when she actually rebels against him. In her conversation with Antigone, Ismene states: We are only women; We cannot fight with men, Antigone! The law is strong, we must give in to the law In this thing, and in worse. I beg the dead To forgive me, but I am helpless: I must yield To those in authority. (Sophocles Prologue 46 51) Everyone thinks of Ismene as a supporter of Creon because she does not show that she secretly rebels against him. • 40. The Susie Scenario Essay For most people, anxiety is something that occurs occasionally throughout their lives such as, right before a big meeting, presentation, tests, or a simple medical procedure. Other people are facing challenges daily due to anxiety; some are diagnosed while others are not. Anxiety includes, distressingly unpleasant and maladaptive feelings, thoughts, behaviors, and physical reactions. Students with anxiety often worry about their competence, even when they are not being evaluated (Durwin, 467). These struggles affect the performance of adults in their everyday lives and more specifically; a child s performance in academics. It is the role as an educator, to aid students with anxiety and other disorders with coping with these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this circumstance, Susie feels over stimulated due to her need for perfection; inevitably causing her to fall behind on assignments. Someone with severe anxiety splits their attention between their anxiety and the task, instead of focusing solely on the assignment. This is made apparent through Susie s lack of assignment completion. She is going through something known as the vicious cycle. Essentially, Susie becomes fixated on a specific part of her assignment which distracts her from completing the full project, leading to a poor grade and disappointment from Susie; causing more anxiety and another incomplete assignment due to the lack of focus. Therefore, Susie cannot perform at the optimal level. A simple task as mentioned earlier, notetaking; provides everyone with a tolerance for a higher arousal level. Notetaking is something that can be performed with less thought, effort, and stress which allows someone with anxiety to partake in the activity more easily. Provided that Susie s main problems are anxiety, disorganization, and perfectionism; it is important to design a modification plan that will reduce these symptoms and create an environment that is more conducive to her learning. To begin, an educator can use the shaping method, inclusive of a cognitive behavioral treatment and token economy, as a way to control Susie s disorder. Shaping involves reinforcing small steps that move toward the behavior until the entire behavior is displayed (Durwin ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Happiness Is The Result Of Happiness Happiness is the result of luck, at least according to the people who invented the word way back when. The word itself is rooted in luck; Darrin M. McMahon, Ph.D., a professor of history at Dartmouth College, says that ... in every Indo European language, without exception... the word happiness is a cognate with the word luck. Or, as a monk in Chaucer s Canterbury Tales put it, ... the wheel of fortune controls our happenstance, and hence our happiness. He was not talking about the Wheel of Fortune that s on at 6:00 pm every night where people spin a giant gaudy wheel and solve word puzzles to win money. No, he meant the omniscient wheel of fortune that controls every aspect of everyone s life. While the wheel of fortune spun freely in some parts of the world, the road to happiness was included more resistance in other parts. Schools of Classical thought famous philosophers with weird names like Plato and Socrates should come to mind believed happiness was earned. Not only did they believe happiness was earned, they believed that to achieve it, you had to go the extra mile (or 10 miles) with moral behavior. But once you had moral behavior, by gosh your life could be going to hell in a handbasket and you d still be happy. Today, in modern America, happiness is something that is worked for. Complete your goals and happiness shall be yours. You may have to fall in a couple of ditches and break some bones along the way, metaphorically and literally, but happiness is ...
