Research refers to a careful investigation or inquiry to gain new knowledge. It involves systematically analyzing a problem by breaking it into components and studying it in light of basic assumptions. Research is significant as it promotes logical thinking and aids in developing policies and solving operational problems in business, industry, and social sciences. Nature of research - Research Methodology - Manu Melwin Joymanumelwin
Research is a scientific and systematic search for pertinent information on a specific topic.
Generally, research has to follow a certain structural process.
Significance of research - Research Methodology - Manu Melwin Joymanumelwin
“All progress is born of inquiry. Doubt is often better than overconfidence, for it leads to inquiry, and inquiry leads to invention” is a famous Hudson Maxim in context of which the significance of research can well be understood.
The formulation of a research problem is the most crucial part of the research journey as the quality and relevance of your research project entirely depends upon it.
The process of formulating a research problem consists of a number of steps. Working through these steps presupposes a reasonable level of knowledge in the broad subject area within which the study is to be undertaken and the research methodology itself.
Scope of research - Research Methodology - Manu Melwin Joymanumelwin
Technological innovations: Research is conducted to know & adapt new technological innovations, developments in machinery, method, etc. used . For e.g., to know level of use of information technology e.g. Networking, Tally, SAP, etc. in the organization.
Motivation in research - Research Methodology - Manu Melwin Joymanumelwin
What makes people to undertake research? This is a question of fundamental importance. The possible motives for doing research may be either one or more of the following:
Desire to get a research degree along with its consequential benefits.
A literature review is a
“critical analysis of a segment of a published body of knowledge through summary, classification, and comparison of prior research studies, reviews of literature, and theoretical articles”

English for Academic Purposes by Liz Hamp-LyonsParth Bhatt
Over the past 25 years TESL/TEFL in universities/colleges and other academic settings - or in programmes designed to prepare non-native users of English for English-medium academic settings - has grown into a multi-million-dollar enterprise around the world. Teaching those who are using English for their studies differs from teaching English to those who are learning for general purposes only, and from teaching those who are learning for occupational purposes. English for academic purposes (EAP) is not only a teaching approach. It is also a branch of applied linguistics consisting of a significant body of research into effective teaching and assessment approaches, methods of analysis of the academic language needs of students, analysis of the linguistic and discoursal structures of academic texts, and analysis of the textual practices of academics.

Synthetic Fiber Construction in lab .pptxPavel ( NSTU)
Synthetic fiber production is a fascinating and complex field that blends chemistry, engineering, and environmental science. By understanding these aspects, students can gain a comprehensive view of synthetic fiber production, its impact on society and the environment, and the potential for future innovations. Synthetic fibers play a crucial role in modern society, impacting various aspects of daily life, industry, and the environment. ynthetic fibers are integral to modern life, offering a range of benefits from cost-effectiveness and versatility to innovative applications and performance characteristics. While they pose environmental challenges, ongoing research and development aim to create more sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives. Understanding the importance of synthetic fibers helps in appreciating their role in the economy, industry, and daily life, while also emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and innovation.
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.
2. WHAT IS RESEARCH ?
Research common sense of the term refers to a search for
knowledge. Research is a part and parcel of human
knowledge.
Research may be defined as a ‘careful critical enquiry or
examination in seeking facts or principles; diligent
investigation in order to ascertain something’.
It is a scientific and systematic search for pertinent
information on specific topic. It is an art and as well as
science of investigation.
3. CONT…..
The advanced Learners’s Dictionary of current English
defined as “a careful investigation or inquiry specially
through search for new facts in any branch of knowledge.”
Redman and Mory define research as a “systematized
effort to gain new knowledge”. Some people consider
research as a movement,a movement from the known to
the unknown.
According to J.H.Shera, “Research is an intellectual
process whreby a problem is perceived, divided into its
constituent elements, and analysed in the light of certain
basic assumptions”.
4. SIGNIFICANCE OF RESEARCH
According to Hudson Maxim Significance as, “All progress is born of
inquiry. Doubt is often better than overconfidence, for it leads to
inquiry and inquiry leads to investigation”
Research inculcates scientific and inductive thinking and it promotes
the development of logical habits of thinking and organization.
The role of research in several fields of applied economics, whether
related to business or to the economy as a whole, has greatly
increased in modern times.
Research provides the basic for nearly all government policies in our
economic system.
5. CONT…..
Research provides the basis for nearly all government policies in our
economic system.
Research has its special significance in solving various operational and
planning problems of business and industry. In several ways,
operations research, market research and motivational research are
vital and their results assist in taking business decisions.
Research is equally important for social scientists in studying social
relationships and in seeking answers to various social problems. It
gives intellectual satisfaction of knowing things for the sake of
knowledge. It also possesses the practical utility for the social
scientist to gain knowledge so as to be able to do something better or
In a more efficient manner.
6. CONCLUSION
Research is, thus, an original contribution to the existing stock of
knowledge making for its advancement. It is the pursuit of truth with
the help of study, observation, comparison and experiment.
In short, the search for knowledge through objective and systematic
method of finding solution to a problem is research.
The systematic approach concerning generalization and the
formulation of a theory is also research.
