The American Of The United States
The United States is one of the largest countries that are made up of individuals from diverse origins
and cultures. In addition, most foreigners from the other parts of the world migrated to the U.S, or
become American citizens under different circumstances, especially during the 18th, 19th and the 20th
centuries. Black Americans for example, arose in the American culture as a result of the numerous
Africans who were being sold to the whites in order for them to work in the cotton and pyrethrum
plantations. Mexican Americans arose as a result of the Mexican American war which occurred during
the 1830s and 1840s, where Mexico conceded defeat and surrendered part of its territory to the United
States. After the end of this war, the Mexicans who were residing in the surrendered Mexican land
territory were transferred to the U.S, and most of them were located in California and the present day
New Mexico (Kos 2011). Just like the African Americans and the other cultures that were being
considered inferior by the white Americans, the Mexican Americans started experiencing oppression
in various ways including social and economic oppression, soon after their migration to the U.S. and
which continues to this day, this country of freedom needs to be legitimately free not just white native
born Americans, but everyone that calls the United States home and the Mexican immigrants that
settle in the southwest deserve the freedoms this country provides, and not be economically oppressed

Using The Data Of Solar Cell Using Lab View Software Essay
ABSTRACT
The increasing demands of energy and oil, insecure energy resources and emission of hazardous gases
have attracted the attention of the whole world towards renewable energy. In the world, at this time the
future of energy is concentrated much amount on renewable energy sources as the fossil fuels are
decreasing and becoming costly day by day. This proposes very simple, low cost, high reliable,
photovoltaic monitoring system. Lab view is a virtual programming code. So we can write simple
codes in programming them to do assigned task for it. The time taken for writing code in a lab view is
very less compared to the MATLAB and SIMULINK. In this project, we will monitor the data of PV
solar cell using Lab VIEW software. First of all, solar radiation will come on solar cell. Next, charge
will controlled by charge controller and also save the battery from overcharging. Then, from the
battery, given sensor will sense the parameter of solar cell. The sensed data will be given to Lab view
software in this project.

How Is Power Corrupt In The Great Gatsby
Fitzgerald illustrates how people with wealth and power become corrupt and that they re miserable
without love. In The Great Gatsby, Jay Gatsby s hopes and aspirations are completely destroyed in a
world surrounded by unreachable and unachievable possibilities, as he begins his pursuit of wealth
and power to help attain his hope to win Daisy over. Jay Gatsby assuredly thinks that being rich and
having finer things in life will result in bringing him well being, love and admiration. The other
characters in this book recognize that by having material things does not always result in the
possession of these insensible items.
As Jay Gatsby falls in love with and devotes himself to convincing Daisy Buchanan to leave Tom and
start a life with him,

Six Core Values Of The NASW Code Of Ethics
Classical organizational theories: As a group, we do not feel that the classical organizational theory
complies with the six core values of the NASW code of ethics. We did not feel that the classical
organization theory provided any help, support, or benefits to help the members reach their maximum
potentials, other than those who are already at the top. We also felt that this theory did not provide
equal rights, protection, or social benefits as a part of the social justice perspective of the core values.
Where the power and resources rest at the top of the agencies who utilize this theory, we feel that
those at the bottom are not held in high esteem, valued, or appreciated. We also feel that the
importance of human relationships is dismissed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As for the social justice value, we felt that it did not work to address social justice issues, and adhering
to the social policies to maintain funding did not leave much room to address social justice issues. We
did feel that this perspective did however, meet the values of dignity and worth of the person, as the
perspective did work to address the basic social needs of people. The institutional perspective did not
appear to address the importance of human relationships, as there was not much connection other than
abiding to the expectations to provide service. There did appear to be a fair amount of Integrity, as the
perspective stresses the compliance of expectations and laws. The perspective also appeared to
demonstrate competence through the maintenance of expectations set forth through the various law

The Nuclear Arms Race During The Cold War
The Cold War, basically a gigantic nuclear arms race, was built on suspicion and tension between the
two major power brokers after World War II: The United States and the USSR. Speculation of what
perpetuated it has many veins; however, three major ideologies contributed. Fear of communism
become an international reality as the main governing polity, making an enemy out of the USSR.
Second is the Russian response to invasion across their borders in the past wars, and thus fear drove
them to it. The USA and the USSR have different political cultures and interests which intensified fear
of dangerous conflict and confrontations a reality. As one can see, these ideologies have a very real
threat in common, worse than any arms race... fear. Once

Las Vegas Gambling History
Las Vegas or the meadows as its Spanish name translates is the largest city in the state of Nevada. Las
Vegas was born in 1905, when William Andrews Clark sold 110 acres of land adjacent to the Union
Pacific Railroad tracks for $265,000. Officially incorporated in 1911, over the course of just 100
years, the small railroad town grew to become the most populous American city that was founded in
the 20th century. Today, Las Vegas has a population of 603,488 and a wider metropolitan area of
above 2 million, which makes it the 29th largest city in the USA. With 4,000 to 8,000 people moving
here each month, it s also one of the fastest growing cities in the country.
Mostly famous for its mega hotels and casinos, Las Vegas is considered to be the gambling and
entertainment capital of the world. The major events that shaped Las Vegas as a gambling center
occurred in 1931, when the construction of the Hoover Damn began, bringing thousands of workers
into the city. At the same time, the state of Nevada decided to legalize gambling. Consisted solely of
males from across the country, the work force created a market for large scale entertainment. ... Show

The Importance Of Transportation And Border Security
In today s America, Transportation and Border Security is more important than ever; with the ever
increasing threats of terrorism, illegal drug trade, immigration crises, among other things. With an
immense amount of International airports, ports of entry, and the nearly 7000 miles of border around
the country means numerous opportunities for a lapse in national security. There are a number of
agencies and initiatives in place to combat these threats, such as the Transportation Security
Administration, Border Patrol, Customs and Border Protection, and the various plans/initiatives in
place designed to improve national security through securing our borders.
Border Patrol The border patrol has a singular mission: Protecting our borders from the illegal
movement of weapons, drugs, contraband, and people, while promoting lawful entry and exit .
Consisting of over 21,000 agents and established in 1924, it is one of the largest individual law
enforcement agencies within the United States, one of many agencies within the US Department of
Homeland Security.
Employing cutting edge law enforcement technology, they monitor the borders of the country via a
technique called Line Watch, which is used to detect, prevent, and/or apprehend illegal aliens,
terrorists, and smugglers by such methods as covert surveillance, responding to sensors, aircraft
sightings, and interpreting and following tracks, marks, and other physical evidence. These, along

Analysis Of Guests Of The Nation
Kathleen Meserve
Mr. Dalvet
AP Literature and Composition

CREATIVE TITLE
Frank O Connor s Guests of the Nation is an ironic and tragic short story of two Englishmen who are
held captive as collateral during the Irish War of Independence. Belcher and Hawkins are friendly
hostages they frequently argue, play cards, and discuss politics and religion with their Irish captors,
Bonaparte and Noble. They behave as if they are unaware of the armed conflict that surrounds them.
The shooting of Belcher is climactic in that O Connor forces the reader to consider the main theme: in
war, everybody has to do his or her duty, so Bonaparte and Noble are unable to prioritize their
friendship. Frank O Connor condemns the concept of nationalism expressing a camaraderie among the
characters preceding the Englishmen s deaths to help them to cope with an adverse situation that is
foreign to all of them. CHANGE THESIS! But how...
In the heat of a war, one would anticipate animosity or turmoil between the nations, not card games
and banter about the afterlife and about capitalism. Instead, the four soldiers coexist peacefully,
possess similar ideas regarding the war, and even consider each other chums. Excluding Donovan, the
men share a common preconception towards nationalism; the hostages final moments include a plea
for life right before Hawkins is shot, he says to Bonaparte: You won t come over to my side, so I ll
come over to your side. Is that fair? (O Connor 3).

How Did Islam Influence Trans Saharan Trade
Following the advent of the current era, West Africa with the Western Sudan empires of Ghana,
Songhai, and Mali was the center of outside contact and influence with the spread of Islam and being a
center of the Trans Saharan trade. Being a part of the Trans Saharan trade gave West Africans a
connection with those outside the continent, namely in Europe and Southeast Asia. It also gave the
opportunity for things other than goods to be exchanged like Islam. Africans adopted and shaped
Islam into their own religion that others besides them also learned and accepted. The camel arrived in
Western Africa after the first century of the current era. In a desert environ, nothing could top the
camel as the most fundamental unit of caravan transport. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The effects of the Trans Saharan trade are evident through looking at the currencies used in Western
Africa. Igbo Ukwu, in modern day Nigeria, shows that by the ninth century West Africa was not
isolated from the outside world, as for some its trading goods included over one hundred thousand
glass beads, mostly from Egypt and India. The Almoravids also exported gold coins to infiltrate
Europe s economy by accompanying its silver currency. During the height of Western African
empires, Africans had a lot of interaction with people outside the continent that they were both
influenced by and affected themselves.
East Africa after the sixteenth century had grown to be an international center where many outsiders
would come to trade. By the 1500s, East Africa was starting to become a thriving trading center, with
several Europeans and Southeast Asians coming to stay for several months due to the strong monsoon
trade winds. They were not just intermediaries in trade but consolidators and producers, with Kilwa
playing the middleman. Portuguese seeing this success, attempted to establish an East African empire
there but failed due to several conditions the main being how strong the Africans were against

Solomon Reed Archetypes
Archetypes are twelve different models of people s minds. These archetypes are formed by
experiences we had as we evolve throughout our lives. My archetype I have chosen for Solomon Reed
is the sage. The sage s goal is to use intelligence and analysis to understand the world. His biggest fear
is to be misled. The three character traits Solomon Reed has are that he is persistent, prominent and
creative. Solomon is persistent. To be persistent is to constantly pursue a course of action. Solomon s
friends have been trying to get him outside for a long time, but frankly, he s terrified. One night,
despite what he told himself, he manages to gather the courage to walk outside of his house. The
outside to Solomon is, as the book states, a void ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This noteworthy significance he has is the fact that he refuses to step out of his house. He even
provides his logic for it. He says, I have food, I have water and most important it never gets out of
control. By staying in house he can manage his life without fear and that also makes him unique and
unusual or...noteworthy. Finally, Solomon is creative, which means he uses his imagination to solve
problems. A show that Solomon watches is Star Trek. In this show there is a special room called a
Holodeck. Solomon is so infatuated by this room, that he has his father model the garage into a replica
of the Holodeck. Even though it looked cool, this was not the only significance of it to Solomon. It
also, became a comfortable place for Solomon to go when he had a panic attack. This shows his
creativity because he found a functional and fun way to help him cope with his panic attacks. Solomon
is persistent, noteworthy and creative. He is persistent because he decided to go outside despite is
unwillingness to do so. He is noteworthy because unlike most kids, he has unusual behaviors that
result in him staying inside often. And finally, he is creative, because he used his imagination to help
him deal with his health problems in a unique way. Because of these three character traits I believe
that Solomon is a Sage

Marc Lepine Insane Cases
Throughout history, there have been many criminals who used the insanity defence to receive a fair
trial, but some of of these people were not actually insane. However, in the case the 1989 Montreal
massacre, Canadian journalists medicalized Marc Lepine s deviance in their writing techniques to
divert the public s attention from the event. According to Horwitz (1981), the medicalization of
criminal behaviour refers to the tendency to define deviance as a manifestation of an underlying
sickness, to find the causes of deviance within the individual rather than in the social structure. . . (p.
750). The type of deviances that can be viewed under the term medicalization is mental sickness and
child abuse. For example, some journalists referred ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

for political purposes. These evidence proved that the offender was at the time sane when he
committed murder. However, Penfold used her journalistic power to bring the issue to the public
agenda from an insanity perspective. The conclusion was that these newspaper official who the public

They constructed an ideology that the offender suffered from child abuse, therefore he was mad and

Alienation Is Not A New Thing
Alienation is best described as a powerful feeling of isolation and loneliness, which stems from a
variety of causes such as certain events and situations in society or in a persons individual life (
Alienation ). The extent in which a person is alienated varies from mild to severe often depending on
the specific trigger. Most commonly, the feeling of not fitting in with others and being different causes
alienation. However, in some instances a certain life changing event or the accumulation of internal
feelings may cause a person to try and escape from reality. This ultimately results in self triggered
alienation them from the outside world. This is why, although alienation is not necessarily a bad thing,
in long term cases it can have a very negative effect on a person s self confidence and happiness. The
common occurrence of alienation is not a new thing. Although more recently noticed in current social
situations, people have been experiencing this state of isolation throughout all of history. Due to the
modernist movement of the twentieth century, countless pieces of literature explore the effects that
alienation on fictional characters in order to mimic reality. Breaking away from conformism, the
initial drive of individualistic thinking created a sense of alienation for those rejecting social norms
until the final break through occurred in society. Authors of the twentieth century that successfully
grasp this overarching theme of alienation include Albert

Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD)
Description
Duchenne muscular Dystrophy (DMD) is the most common out of nine types of muscular dystrophy.
This genetic disorder causes progressive muscular weakness, and deterioration due to the lack of a
protein called Dystrophin. This protein keeps the muscles in tack, so when it s missing, the muscles
slowly break down. (MDA, 2015)
Epidemiology
Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is the most common muscular dystrophy disorder. In the United States
DMD affects 1 in 3,500 males. 2/3 of those cases are passed down for the mothers and 1/3 are random
mutations. Internationally the statistics are similar. (Medscape, 2015)

We have many drugs, therapy techniques, and procedures to help slow the progression or help with the
pain associated with DMD. There are many varying degrees of severity with DMD and because of this
treatment plans vary greatly with the patient s specific needs. Many are given medical interventions to
help with mobility. Many use wheelchairs or braces to help them maintain freedom and independance.
Drugs like Prednisone, Deflazacort,Cyclosporine and Oxandrolone are used to prolong the ability to
walk without aids as much as 5 years. Prednisone is a Corticosteroid that is the most common steriod
used to help symptoms of DMD. There is controversy when using this steriod because of the
numerous side effects like weight gain, fragile bones, high blood pressure, and behavioral changes.
Deflazacort is a synthetic form of Prednisone that has been found to have less side effects. This drug is
used in Europe. Cyclosporine is a medication that is very controversial because it s possible it causes
myopathy. Oxandrolone is still being researched but it is believed to have similar results as Prednisone
with fewer side effects.(National Human Genome Research Institute, 2013) People with DMD may
need other medications for secondary issues like asthma, or heart complications. Surgeries are also an
option to help correct spinal curvature or fix issues with the heart. Therapies are the most common
among all varying degrees of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Range of Motion exercises will help
keep flexibility in the affected joints. These exercises will also help to prevent muscle shortening. Low

Summary Of Hamdi V. Rumsfeld
1. Background a. Hamdi v. Rumsfeld (2004) b. Yaser Esam Hamdi is an American citizen born in
Louisiana in 1980. In 2001, Hamdi was captured by the Northern Alliance in Afghanistan and turned
over to the United States as an enemy combatant. The United States government detained and
interrogated Hamdi in Afghanistan until they moved him to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The U.S.
government found out that Hamdi was an American citizen and transferred him to a brig in Norfolk,
Virginia and then later to a brig in Charleston, South Carolina. The government labeled Hamdi as an
enemy combatant and said that justified the holding of Hamdi indefinitely without any formal charges.
The injury suffered by Hamdi is that he has been interrogated and being held in prison indefinitely
with no formal charge. Along with that, Hamdi had not been granted any of his rights as an American
citizen. In June 2002, Esam Fouad Hamdi, Yaser Hamdi s father filed a petition for a writ of habeas
corpus in a federal district court. The district court appointed a public defender to Hamdi and ordered
for him to have access to Hamdi, so the government appealed to the U.S. Court of Appeals. The U.S.
Court of Appeals sided with the government stating that the district court had failed to respect the
government s security. The case then went back to the district court, where the decision was that the
evidence set forth by the government was not enough to detain Hamdi. The district court then reversed
its ruling because

There s Nothing More Dangerous Than Someone Who Wants For...
Banksy states, There s nothing more dangerous than someone who wants to make the world a better
place . Sarcastic no doubt, it is essential to realise that the notion of vandals and graffiti artists are
slightly different. Vandals are miscreants and cause damage and destruction to society where as graffiti
artists though they can be deemed as vandals, compared to absolute destruction of society, they create
art for the society to see. Unluckily for graffiti artists there contrast to vandals is quite evident
throughout the social order and most known in the eyes of the police. Conversely, stated in the
questions quote banksy states that vandals want to make the world a better place not graffiti artists in
general. It appears that perhaps graffiti artists wish to make the world a better looking place, not as
much as vandals wanting to make a destructive wasteland. If police officers wish to brand the world a
better a place they must start in their society and a core issue in suburban societies is vandals, though
this embraces graffiti artists, damaging vandals are most certainly more of an issue on society than the
graffiti artist, perhaps banksy has not given himself any justice in regards to his quote. The main ideal
of this quote is that graffiti is not harming, but beatifying society, however, to society graffiti is seen as
a defacement of private property and not a form of art for the world to see. Graffiti vandalism. On the
other hand, is a complete disregard for

Simulation Pricing Strategy
My project this summer was to create a pricing strategy for a simulation that would return the
maximum frequency of pictures spread evenly across a given number of locations. I began by
implementing a simple simulation in which I used Math.Random() to repeatedly generate a number
between zero and thirty, thirty being the set number of locations. I then used the random number
generated as an array index and increased the picture count in the location that the number
corresponded to by one. Each location had a set price so all I did was generate location indexes until
the budget was met. After I finished this very basic simulation, I started contemplating my project
focus which was the pricing strategy I needed to implement. One of the original ideas suggested to me
was the Poisson Distribution in which I could model the simulation as number of pictures taken over a
period of time. I could then allocate more or less of the budget to a time slot based on how many
pictures were taken in the previous time period.
The issues I had when attempting to model this distribution were:
It proved rather difficult to model the simulation based on previous pictures taken, because regardless
of this information when I distributed the budget I had no way of ... Show more content on

I realized from the beginning that there were a lot of factors that could contribute to whether or not a
user takes a photo such as price, distance from a location, etc. I, however, decided to use price as my
primary factor due to my lack of information regarding the other variables. Due to price being the
main factor in the probability I saw little point in modeling the probability of someone taking a photo
with a normal distribution when it can be modeled linearly (the higher the price at a location the more
likely a user is to take a photo at that

Major Sullivan Ballou s Last Letter
The bond between a husband and wife can be so strong sometimes and the two stories To My Dear
Loving Husband and Major Sullivan Ballou s Last Letter show how much each spouse loves each
other. Although, each one talks about the love towards one another they both have different ways of
expressing it. Major Sullivan Ballou s Last Letter was written during the civil wars time so it was
more based on that, while To My Dear Loving Husband was written way back in 1641.
The most obvious difference is the fact that one shows the perspective of a woman while the other
tells a story from a man s perspective. The letter is written by a guy in the army to his wife and kids.
He talks more about how he loves the Country so much that he is willing to die for it. The major does
not really mind the fact that he is about to die and leave his family behind. Instead he tells his wife and
kids to stay strong and that he will always be there for them. In contrast, the poem talks about how the
women values her husband s love and how he is such an idol. She would put her husband before
anything and anyone. Just by reading the poem people are able to tell how much this women respects
and loves her husband.Although they both love their families, one is willing to give up his life and
abandon them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author directs some of the phrases to women that are reading the poem. For example line 3 4 If
ever wife was happy in a man, Compare with me, ye women, if you can(Anne Bradstreet). Basically
the author is saying that she thinks her man is the best and no other woman will find a guy as great as
him. On the other hand, the letter is referring to one person, his wife. The letter just talks about how he
wants his wife to learn how to live without him. The poem talks just about a husband, while the letter
includes two kids and a

Essay on The Empowerment of Women in Trifles by Glaspell
From the beginning the women of Trifles by Susan Glaspell do not seem to have a significant role in
the play. These women appear to just be along for the ride while their husbands do the dirty work of
searching through the crime scene. In the end even though they serve as secondary characters to their
husbands, Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters play a large role in portraying the theme of this play, and without
them the plot would not have been conducted nearly the same way to get the message out to the
audience.
As soon as the county attorney, the sheriff, his wife and Mr. and Mrs. Hale walk into the Wrights
house there is a clear division of power between the men and the women. The men walked in with
harsh faces ready to get the job ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The bread has been left out of the bread box, the kitchen table had not been cleaned, the quilt that she
had been working on was unfinished and poorly stitched, and lastly the bird was missing from the
cage. After further investigation the women come to the conclusion that there was something wrong
going on in the Wright household that caused their house to be so chaotic.
Once the investigation starts one would think that the men would be the ones to solve the
investigation, when in reality they are too caught up on the stereotypes of women during this time
period and completely overlook the evidence as trifles . The men instead decide skip looking through
the kitchen and instead to do the majority of their investigating in barn and the bedroom because
during this time period these are places where men would feel dominant over women. After some deep
thought Mrs. Hale s comment I wonder if she was goin to quilt it or just knot it? (1416): finally makes
sense. The women were not referring to the quilt, but were instead referring to Mrs. Wright hanging
Mr. Wright. The men obviously were not very observant or well versed with quilting terminology
otherwise they could have easily deciphered this phrase and known that the women had figured out
the motive for the murder.
The theme of this play deals with the discrimination and poor treatment of women during this time
period. Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters

Sherman Alexie Indian Discrimination
One should get to know a person before judging them because impressions are not always accurate. In
the novel, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian, Junior experiences racism on the Spokane
Indian reservation and at Reardan, where Junior attends school. Racial discrimination makes the
Indians on the reservation lose their sense of self worth and they feel as if they deserve to be treated
this way. At Reardan, Junior is in an atmosphere where his white classmates and teachers make racist
jokes and nicknames targeting him. In the novel, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian,
Sherman Alexie explains how prejudice and discriminatory behaviour endorses negative relationships
between people. This can be observed through Junior s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Going into Reardan as an Indian, people thought of Junior differently and therefore treated him
differently. He is viewed differently because people believe that the whites are better and wealthier
than the Indians. Junior explains to his friend Gordy that ...some Indians think you have to act white to
make your life better. Some Indians think that you become white if you try to make your life better, if
you become successful (Alexie 132). Junior may be Indian physically, but that does not mean that he
does not have the same traits and should not be treated different than any other white person at
Reardan. Additionally, Junior s classmates started of thinking of Junior as a weak individual because
of his skin colour. Junior s classmates think it is alright to call Junior names because of his physical
appearance but weak and poor and scared, [Junior] let them call [Junior] names while [Junior] figured
out what to do..So [Junior] punched Roger in the face (Alexie 64/65). Junior proves his classmates
wrong when they think that he is too scared to pick fight with them when in reality, Junior had the guts
to punch Roger in the face. Junior clearly proves how his physical appearance does not define his
strength or power. Junior should be treated equally and not judged based on his race because that does
not define who he is as an

The War Of The Vietnam War
Between 1964 and 1975 the heightened tensions over the Vietnam war caused many americans to
become divided on the actions taken by the government across seas. Americans questioned whether
the government could be trusted. The feeling of betrayal and government secrecy created the
Credibility Gap, in which many americans believed that the government no longer was for the people,
but for anything else that would benefit the government. The Vietnam War exacerbated the gap
between the pro war traditionalists and anti war liberals along with an increase in military action,
causing controversy over government spending; as a whole these factors established a sense of distrust
between the American government and its people. The Credibility Gap expanded during the Vietnam
War causing citizens to question the truthfulness of president Johnson s administration and the reports
on events that were occurring overseas in Vietnam. When Daniel Ellsberg released the Pentagon
Papers to the media in 1971 he increased the public s distrust in the American government. The
pentagon papers, originally named Report of the Office of the Secretary of Defense Vietnam Task
Force by Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara, contained secret government reports detailing the
decisions made in the Vietnam War under the Kennedy and Johnson administration. Also written
within the report was a detailed layout of operation Rolling Thunder, in which the United States
strategically bombed north Vietnam from

Gabriel s Horn Paradox
As this figure is a geometrical figure there cannot be resolutions to this paradox. However, the Painter
s Paradox is a real world application involving Gabriel s Horn that proves contradictory. Imagine
painting the figure Gabriel s horn. The shape would be impossible to paint because one would need an
infinite amount of paint, but could fill the entirety of the shape with paint because it has a finite
volume. The paradox is encompassed in the question: How can one be unable to paint the surface of
Gabriel s Horn but, at the same time, be able to fill it with paint? The following are resolutions to the
Painter s Paradox: You can not fill the horn up with paint because it would take forever. No matter
how long paint is poured into the horn,

Japanese Internment Camp
Photograph #1 shows a large group of Japanese Americans lining up behind a table, for what appears
to be their registration into a Japanese internment camp. Within the group, you can see looks of
confusion and distress on most of the adult faces, as well as looks of confusion and crying from the
children. Many of the Japanese Americans are carrying few belongings other than the man to the left
with one bag in his hand, and the woman in front of him who has an item in her hands; it is implied
that after registering their names with the United States government representatives at the table, they
will be sent to the internment camps with what they have. With the confusion on their faces as well, it
could be assumed that some people did not even know that they could take belongings with them to
the camps. It could also be assumed that many in the line are not sure why they have to register in
these camps, as they have been living normal American lives up until this point in 1942. The idea for
these camps was brought on by propaganda, creating fears amongst not only regular citizens, but
government officials as well ( Japanese American Internment 2016). Over 127,000 Japanese
Americans were imprisoned when the camps had first been developed, up until the last camp was
closed in 1946 ( Japanese Relocation 2016). The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their faces seem to show looks that are stern and emotionless. It can be inferred that propaganda and
fear caused them to disregard the importance of each individual s life. These citizens working for the
government probably agreed with the process started by the President due to the severity of the attacks
on Pearl Harbor. If one was skeptical of these policies, since they were aware of how this was
effecting the Japanese Americans life, they would most likely be following orders at this point
regardless of how they personally

Indian Boy Love Song Analysis
The poems New Orleans by Joy Harjo and Indian Boy Love Song (#2) by Sherman Alexie have two
very similar themes. Themes are underlying message, or main ideas, basically the theme is the lesson
you learned after you read a story, or in this instance a poem. The theme in New Orleans is that you
should put forth the effort to find out about your culture s history. While the theme of Indian Boy Love
Song(#2) is that you should, try your hardest to become close to your elders, don t be distant. While
both themes are focused on their culture, New Orleans is actually looking for information on her
Creek culture, but Indian Boy Love Song (#2) is apologizing about how he s distant from his culture.
In the poem New Orleans the theme is that to learn more about your culture, you should put forth the
effort. To get this message Harjo used compare and contrasting. For example They caught him in blue
rock, said don t talk. I know it wasn t just a horse that went crazy. This is showing development
because it s showing how her people got caught, and they attacked any and everything. Another way
the author shows this is by saying I have a memory. It swims deep in blood, a delta in the skin. This
shows that her heritage runs deep through her. In addition to these two quotes, another quote that
shows relation toward this development is Nearby is a shop with ivory and knives. There are red
rocks. The man behind the counter has no idea that he is inside magic stones. He

The Fairness Doctrine Dbq
The Federal Communications Commission stopped enforcing the Fairness Doctrine in 1987, less than
40 years after the policy was created. The doctrine required broadcast stations to discuss important
controversial issues and that they provide time for both sides of the argument. This included allowing
someone who had been attacked on air the right to respond back. The FCC also reserved the right to
take away a station s license if they did not follow the set guidelines. During the 38 years that the
policy was active, many stations had to use more time to talk about issues that did not necessarily
align with their station. The repeal of the doctrine led to a rise in conservative talk radio shows, such
as Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Mark ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Liberals thought that Jim Hightower was going to be the talk show host that would match up with
Rush Limbaugh, however his talk radio ended after only a year and a half (Mayer). The majority of
people listening to talk radio enjoyed the rhetoric of people like Rush Limbaugh because the radio was
the only media outlet that provided listeners with a right leaning viewpoint at the time. Talk radio
shows like Rush Limbaugh spent more time on issues that were interesting to their specific audience
and did not need to show the liberal side of the argument. If the Fairness Doctrine was not repealed
talk radio would look completely different and it would consist of mostly a political radio shows that
focused mostly on sports and other non political shows. The rise in conservative talk radio is credited
to the end of the Fairness Doctrine. In 2008 Republicans were trying to convince their followers that
Democrats were set on trying to bring back the Fairness Doctrine in efforts to silence limbaugh and
other talk radio host like him. Some democrats did want the Fairness Doctrine reinstated. In 2005
Representative Maurice Hinchey introduced a bill that would reintroduce the Fairness Doctrine.
Republicans nicknamed this bill as the Hush Rush bill. Nonetheless, The piece of legislation did not

Disadvantages Of Self-Publishing
An indie author, editor, publicist, the publishing strategist Eeva Lancaster stated, Writers can write
whatever they want, but after THE END, when they self publish their book, they become accountable
to readers for the quality of the book they re selling [and] in making sure those standards are met or
exceeded (Lancaster et al.). Suitably, indie publishing is shedding its all involved stigma of
inexperienced authors producing mediocre works from botched do it yourself (DIY) covers or content
shortcomings. Nowadays, artistic desktop technology and networking allows storytellers practical
upshots for self publishing endeavors. Subsequently, the industry s related tech advances, and services
via the Web can help project a professional delivery throughout these creative scaffolds with ease. On
top, with strategic book designing tactics and implements that solidifies an alluring end product, and
without the hefty price tag. Outright, available for free or at low cost investment; services and
software that facilitates formatting, audiobook recordings, interior layout, and graphics for exterior
developments of finished products. Including online accessible distributing methods, for the tangible
page flipping book or its electronic file versions, and boosting an author s platform. Consequently,
making use of a fundamental business plan also can foster a marketable enterprising opportunity. Self
publishing with adept desktop tools, techniques, and affordable online services are capable of
launching a promising author s career with a practical business plan, alongside creative bents,
editorial, covers, formatting, promoting, and distribution methods.
Evidently, writers garner the process of self publication by means of the Information Age at their
disposal, and intentional for writer s during editorial progressions. Relatively, writer s works are
products of robust creative freedom, either driven by a muse and or coupled by a complex yet reliable
outline. In any case, scripting a first draft is penning still in its infancy. The only function of the first
draft is to help writers discover a narrative rhythm, and a voice under the cloak of style and theme to
tell their story. Equally, virtues of an artist develop by

The Bird And The Happiest Bird
The Crow and the Peacock
Once there was a crow, who lived a happy and satisfied life in his village. One day the crow was
flying along when he saw a beautiful white swan. Seeing the swan he thought, This swan is so bright
and I am so dark. He must be the happiest bird in the world When the crow said this to the swan, the
swan said, I used to think that I was the happiest bird too until I saw a parrot. The parrot has 2 colors
while I just have one. So he must be the happiest bird. Taking the swan s advice the crow went and
started looking for a parrot. After a few days of looking the crow finally found him. The crow told the
parrot about what the swan had told him. The parrot responded by saying, I used to think that I was
the happiest bird in the world as well until I saw a peacock. I just have 2 colors, whereas, the peacock
has multiple colors, so it must be the happiest bird. As a result of listening to the swan s and the parrot
s thoughts the crow decided to find out if the peacock was truly the happiest bird. Immediately the
crow set of to find a peacock. He searched for days and nights looking for the peacock. There were
huge crowds gathering around the peacock s cage. At first the crow thought that the crowds would go
away, but the longer waited he realized that the crowds would never end. The crow tried getting
through the crowd but it was too thick. Finnally, the crowd died down and the crow could go up to the
peacock and told him what the parrot and the swan

  • 2. The American Of The United States The United States is one of the largest countries that are made up of individuals from diverse origins and cultures. In addition, most foreigners from the other parts of the world migrated to the U.S, or become American citizens under different circumstances, especially during the 18th, 19th and the 20th centuries. Black Americans for example, arose in the American culture as a result of the numerous Africans who were being sold to the whites in order for them to work in the cotton and pyrethrum plantations. Mexican Americans arose as a result of the Mexican American war which occurred during the 1830s and 1840s, where Mexico conceded defeat and surrendered part of its territory to the United States. After the end of this war, the Mexicans who were residing in the surrendered Mexican land territory were transferred to the U.S, and most of them were located in California and the present day New Mexico (Kos 2011). Just like the African Americans and the other cultures that were being considered inferior by the white Americans, the Mexican Americans started experiencing oppression in various ways including social and economic oppression, soon after their migration to the U.S. and which continues to this day, this country of freedom needs to be legitimately free not just white native born Americans, but everyone that calls the United States home and the Mexican immigrants that settle in the southwest deserve the freedoms this country provides, and not be economically oppressed ... Analysis Of Guests Of The Nation Kathleen Meserve Mr. Dalvet AP Literature and Composition 10 / 25 / 2017 CREATIVE TITLE Frank O Connor s Guests of the Nation is an ironic and tragic short story of two Englishmen who are held captive as collateral during the Irish War of Independence. Belcher and Hawkins are friendly hostages they frequently argue, play cards, and discuss politics and religion with their Irish captors, Bonaparte and Noble. They behave as if they are unaware of the armed conflict that surrounds them. The shooting of Belcher is climactic in that O Connor forces the reader to consider the main theme: in war, everybody has to do his or her duty, so Bonaparte and Noble are unable to prioritize their friendship. Frank O Connor condemns the concept of nationalism expressing a camaraderie among the characters preceding the Englishmen s deaths to help them to cope with an adverse situation that is foreign to all of them. My archetype I have chosen for Solomon Reed is the sage. The sage s goal is to use intelligence and analysis to understand the world. His biggest fear is to be misled. The three character traits Solomon Reed has are that he is persistent, prominent and creative. Solomon is persistent. To be persistent is to constantly pursue a course of action. Finally, Solomon is creative, which means he uses his imagination to solve problems. A show that Solomon watches is Star Trek. In this show there is a special room called a Holodeck. Solomon is so infatuated by this room, that he has his father model the garage into a replica of the Holodeck. Even though it looked cool, this was not the only significance of it to Solomon. In 2001, Hamdi was captured by the Northern Alliance in Afghanistan and turned over to the United States as an enemy combatant. The United States government detained and interrogated Hamdi in Afghanistan until they moved him to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The U.S. government found out that Hamdi was an American citizen and transferred him to a brig in Norfolk, Virginia and then later to a brig in Charleston, South Carolina. The government labeled Hamdi as an enemy combatant and said that justified the holding of Hamdi indefinitely without any formal charges. The injury suffered by Hamdi is that he has been interrogated and being held in prison indefinitely with no formal charge. Along with that, Hamdi had not been granted any of his rights as an American citizen. In June 2002, Esam Fouad Hamdi, Yaser Hamdi s father filed a petition for a writ of habeas corpus in a federal district court. The district court appointed a public defender to Hamdi and ordered for him to have access to Hamdi, so the government appealed to the U.S. Court of Appeals. Sarcastic no doubt, it is essential to realise that the notion of vandals and graffiti artists are slightly different. Vandals are miscreants and cause damage and destruction to society where as graffiti artists though they can be deemed as vandals, compared to absolute destruction of society, they create art for the society to see. Unluckily for graffiti artists there contrast to vandals is quite evident throughout the social order and most known in the eyes of the police. Conversely, stated in the questions quote banksy states that vandals want to make the world a better place not graffiti artists in general. It appears that perhaps graffiti artists wish to make the world a better looking place, not as much as vandals wanting to make a destructive wasteland. If police officers wish to brand the world a better a place they must start in their society and a core issue in suburban societies is vandals, though this embraces graffiti artists, damaging vandals are most certainly more of an issue on society than the graffiti artist, perhaps banksy has not given himself any justice in regards to his quote. Simulation Pricing Strategy My project this summer was to create a pricing strategy for a simulation that would return the maximum frequency of pictures spread evenly across a given number of locations. I began by implementing a simple simulation in which I used Math.Random() to repeatedly generate a number between zero and thirty, thirty being the set number of locations. I then used the random number generated as an array index and increased the picture count in the location that the number corresponded to by one. Each location had a set price so all I did was generate location indexes until the budget was met. After I finished this very basic simulation, I started contemplating my project focus which was the pricing strategy I needed to implement. One of the original ideas suggested to me was the Poisson Distribution in which I could model the simulation as number of pictures taken over a period of time. I could then allocate more or less of the budget to a time slot based on how many pictures were taken in the previous time period. Major Sullivan Ballou s Last Letter was written during the civil wars time so it was more based on that, while To My Dear Loving Husband was written way back in 1641. The most obvious difference is the fact that one shows the perspective of a woman while the other tells a story from a man s perspective. The letter is written by a guy in the army to his wife and kids. He talks more about how he loves the Country so much that he is willing to die for it. The major does not really mind the fact that he is about to die and leave his family behind. Instead he tells his wife and kids to stay strong and that he will always be there for them. In contrast, the poem talks about how the women values her husband s love and how he is such an idol. She would put her husband before anything and anyone. Just by reading the poem people are able to tell how much this women respects and loves her husband.Although they both love their families, one is willing to give up his life and abandon them. ... • 23. Essay on The Empowerment of Women in Trifles by Glaspell From the beginning the women of Trifles by Susan Glaspell do not seem to have a significant role in the play. These women appear to just be along for the ride while their husbands do the dirty work of searching through the crime scene. In the end even though they serve as secondary characters to their husbands, Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters play a large role in portraying the theme of this play, and without them the plot would not have been conducted nearly the same way to get the message out to the audience. As soon as the county attorney, the sheriff, his wife and Mr. and Mrs. Hale walk into the Wrights house there is a clear division of power between the men and the women. The men walked in with harsh faces ready to get the job ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The bread has been left out of the bread box, the kitchen table had not been cleaned, the quilt that she had been working on was unfinished and poorly stitched, and lastly the bird was missing from the cage. After further investigation the women come to the conclusion that there was something wrong going on in the Wright household that caused their house to be so chaotic. Once the investigation starts one would think that the men would be the ones to solve the investigation, when in reality they are too caught up on the stereotypes of women during this time period and completely overlook the evidence as trifles . The men instead decide skip looking through the kitchen and instead to do the majority of their investigating in barn and the bedroom because during this time period these are places where men would feel dominant over women. After some deep thought Mrs. Hale s comment I wonder if she was goin to quilt it or just knot it? (1416): finally makes sense. The women were not referring to the quilt, but were instead referring to Mrs. Wright hanging Mr. Wright. The men obviously were not very observant or well versed with quilting terminology otherwise they could have easily deciphered this phrase and known that the women had figured out the motive for the murder. The theme of this play deals with the discrimination and poor treatment of women during this time period. Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 24. Sherman Alexie Indian Discrimination One should get to know a person before judging them because impressions are not always accurate. In the novel, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian, Junior experiences racism on the Spokane Indian reservation and at Reardan, where Junior attends school. Some Indians think that you become white if you try to make your life better, if you become successful (Alexie 132). • 25. The War Of The Vietnam War Between 1964 and 1975 the heightened tensions over the Vietnam war caused many americans to become divided on the actions taken by the government across seas. Americans questioned whether the government could be trusted. The feeling of betrayal and government secrecy created the Credibility Gap, in which many americans believed that the government no longer was for the people, but for anything else that would benefit the government. The Vietnam War exacerbated the gap between the pro war traditionalists and anti war liberals along with an increase in military action, causing controversy over government spending; as a whole these factors established a sense of distrust between the American government and its people. The Credibility Gap expanded during the Vietnam War causing citizens to question the truthfulness of president Johnson s administration and the reports on events that were occurring overseas in Vietnam. When Daniel Ellsberg released the Pentagon Papers to the media in 1971 he increased the public s distrust in the American government. The pentagon papers, originally named Report of the Office of the Secretary of Defense Vietnam Task Force by Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara, contained secret government reports detailing the decisions made in the Vietnam War under the Kennedy and Johnson administration. Also written within the report was a detailed layout of operation Rolling Thunder, in which the United States strategically bombed north Vietnam from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, the Painter s Paradox is a real world application involving Gabriel s Horn that proves contradictory. Imagine painting the figure Gabriel s horn. • 27. Japanese Internment Camp Photograph #1 shows a large group of Japanese Americans lining up behind a table, for what appears to be their registration into a Japanese internment camp. Within the group, you can see looks of confusion and distress on most of the adult faces, as well as looks of confusion and crying from the children. Many of the Japanese Americans are carrying few belongings other than the man to the left with one bag in his hand, and the woman in front of him who has an item in her hands; it is implied that after registering their names with the United States government representatives at the table, they will be sent to the internment camps with what they have. With the confusion on their faces as well, it could be assumed that some people did not even know that they could take belongings with them to the camps. It could also be assumed that many in the line are not sure why they have to register in these camps, as they have been living normal American lives up until this point in 1942. The idea for these camps was brought on by propaganda, creating fears amongst not only regular citizens, but government officials as well ( Japanese American Internment 2016). Over 127,000 Japanese Americans were imprisoned when the camps had first been developed, up until the last camp was closed in 1946 ( Japanese Relocation 2016). The ... • 28. Indian Boy Love Song Analysis The poems New Orleans by Joy Harjo and Indian Boy Love Song (#2) by Sherman Alexie have two very similar themes. Themes are underlying message, or main ideas, basically the theme is the lesson you learned after you read a story, or in this instance a poem. The theme in New Orleans is that you should put forth the effort to find out about your culture s history. While the theme of Indian Boy Love Song(#2) is that you should, try your hardest to become close to your elders, don t be distant. While both themes are focused on their culture, New Orleans is actually looking for information on her Creek culture, but Indian Boy Love Song (#2) is apologizing about how he s distant from his culture. In the poem New Orleans the theme is that to learn more about your culture, you should put forth the effort. To get this message Harjo used compare and contrasting. For example They caught him in blue rock, said don t talk. I know it wasn t just a horse that went crazy. This is showing development because it s showing how her people got caught, and they attacked any and everything. Another way the author shows this is by saying I have a memory. It swims deep in blood, a delta in the skin. This shows that her heritage runs deep through her. • 29. The Fairness Doctrine Dbq The Federal Communications Commission stopped enforcing the Fairness Doctrine in 1987, less than 40 years after the policy was created. The doctrine required broadcast stations to discuss important controversial issues and that they provide time for both sides of the argument. This included allowing someone who had been attacked on air the right to respond back. The FCC also reserved the right to take away a station s license if they did not follow the set guidelines. During the 38 years that the policy was active, many stations had to use more time to talk about issues that did not necessarily align with their station. Liberals thought that Jim Hightower was going to be the talk show host that would match up with Rush Limbaugh, however his talk radio ended after only a year and a half (Mayer). The majority of people listening to talk radio enjoyed the rhetoric of people like Rush Limbaugh because the radio was the only media outlet that provided listeners with a right leaning viewpoint at the time. Talk radio shows like Rush Limbaugh spent more time on issues that were interesting to their specific audience and did not need to show the liberal side of the argument. If the Fairness Doctrine was not repealed talk radio would look completely different and it would consist of mostly a political radio shows that focused mostly on sports and other non political shows. The rise in conservative talk radio is credited to the end of the Fairness Doctrine. In 2008 Republicans were trying to convince their followers that Democrats were set on trying to bring back the Fairness Doctrine in efforts to silence limbaugh and other talk radio host like him. Some democrats did want the Fairness Doctrine reinstated. In 2005 Representative Maurice Hinchey introduced a bill that would reintroduce the Fairness Doctrine.
