Why Do Best Choices In The Giver Essay
Those who know more about concepts in life, will make better choices. If someone has knowledge about
something, they most likely will make wiser decisions about it. The more intelligence someone has, the more
good and bad they will see in the world. People who gain wisdom, may see the best things in life, causing
them to make the best choices as well. In The Giver, by Lois Lowry, those who have more wisdom will see
both negative and positive aspects in life and will make wiser decisions for themselves and others.
When someone gains wisdom, the choices they make can have an affect on what lies ahead. That someone is
known as The Giver, from the book, The Giver, by Lois Lowry. When The Giver was the Receiver of Memory,
he gained great wisdom from experiencing important events in the past, causing his knowledge to expand
immensely. The choices that The Giver made for the community were substantial, and changed how ... Show

Jonas, the protagonist, asked The Giver why they have to contain all the memories of past events. The Giver
explains that the memories give them wisdom which helps them in their lives. When the people who run the
community, The Committee of Elders, need advice, they ask The Giver because he has the wisdom they need.
A quote that portrays this is, Why do you and I have to hold these memories? It gives us wisdom, The Giver
replied, Without wisdom I could not fulfill my function of advising the Committee of Elders when they call
upon me. (Lowry, pg. 140) People who achieve wisdom are looked up to in the world. Normal individuals
sometimes depend on that person when they need help on something. It is usually when the person with
wisdom assists the other with making a certain decision. They can often see if the outcome is going to be good
or bad. This is one more example of how those who have wisdom are looked up to, and relied upon to settle on

Kite Runner Critical Lens
Lies, the world revolves around them. Every election the candidates tell you want they think you want to hear,
they walk around the truth. We don t want to hear their lies, we want the truth, similar to Amir in The Kite
Runner and Marius and Fantine in Les Miserables. In literature the plot of the story revolves around the lies
that characters tell, whether to make things better, or just to hide their guilty and shame from others. Every lie
makes the story more complex and when the characters learn the truth, they are changed, and sometimes it is
for the better. Monsieur Gillenormand, in Victor Hugo s Les Miserables, takes Marius from his father because
of political beliefs. Gillenormand denies Marius the right to a father that loved him ... Show more content on

Equal Employment Opportunity Commission
Equal Employment Opportunity Commission
2/21/2015
Providing a place of employment has lead to numerous benefits for employers and employees. When having a
diversity of people working for a company, different types of personalities intermingle with each other on a
day to day basis. Even though having a diverse group of people coexist in the workforce can serve a huge
benefit to the company, it can also lead to problems amongst coworkers. In order to make sure everyone is
treated fairly, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) was created to enforce federal
regulations for equality in the workforce (smallbusiness). The EEOC pursues complaints about hiring or firing

situation. A recommendation for the owner with regards to preparing a response to the EEOC is to inform them

The Death Of The Dog Essay
~Glisten~ Great, how am I gonna get out of this mess? I m going to jail for this! All these horrifying things
were running through my head. I kept poking my head up to see if anybody was there, but no one was ever
there and I m afraid if I get up someone will see me. I was about to get up when I heard a random growl right

Our Founding Fathers Effect on the Past, Present, and...
In the beginning, the nation s Founders were profoundly skeptical of direct democracy. They believed that the
follies of direct democracy far outweighed any virtues it might possess (Politics in American pg. 76).
According to an essay by Rose Wilder Lane (Lane, 1943), George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin
Franklin, John Adams, James Madison, and James Monroe feared democracy. The founders believed that the
Constitution left all other governmental powers to the states (Politics in American 2009 pg. 133). Our
Founding Fathers never intended for America to become a democracy. Most of them had served in the
American Revolution, either as soldiers in the Continental Army or as part of a legislative body. After the
Revolutionary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Essentially, the new constitution was written to protect the people from a democracy. The Founding Fathers
had learned from the past that a democracy was a form of lawless mob rule. They saw that the ancient Greeks
tried a true democracy that had failed and led to chaos. A true democracy would not run efficiently or properly.
The Founding Fathers saw our Government as a Republic (McManus 2001). They were realists who believed
in limited government and low taxes. Their ideal was to build a unique structure of government to put into
action their beliefs in nationalism, limited government, and separation of powers with check and balances, and
judicial reviews. The Founding Fathers wanted to generate a strong government while ensuring that the
government would not become a threat to liberty or property. It was also decided that the legislative branch
should consist of two houses. So a new constitution was drawn up and once ratified, the process of organizing
a new government began. On September 13, 1788, Congress determined that the city of New York should be
the seat of the new government. The capital was moved Philadelphia in 1790 and to Washington D.C. in the
year 1800 where it remains today (Lawler 2010). The process for the creation of the new government
continued when George Washington was unanimously elected the first president, and John Adams of
Massachusetts, the vice president. Adams

Xenophobia In Refugea
INTRODUCTION
The definition of refugee has changed according to time and place. A standard form of definition states those
who are forced to flee their homes due to persecution being an individual or as part of a mass exodus due to
political, religious, military or other problems, and also who are unable to protect them due to the
circumstances of their country are known as refugees. Refugee Rights are similar to fundamental Rights of a
citizen modified with certain conditions.
When we talk about Refugee, the two terms strike in the mind of a laymani.e.Xenophobia and
Racism.

Stepped up interaction at the interface between assistance and protection has highlighted the issues that are
currently being examined in this paper.
Many Researchers have shown that severe economic inequalities and the marginalization of persons from
access to basic economic and social conditions give rise to manifestations of racism and xenophobia. Those
perceived to be outsiders or foreigners, often migrants, refugees, asylum seekers, displaced persons, and non
nationals, are main targets.
The first thing which comes to light in evaluating position of refugees in different states are racism and
xenophobia, which ultimately led the conclusion in making possibility of partnership in protection of Refugee
Rights. Both the terms Racism and Xenophobia are distinct in meaning, but both makes the resettlement and
rehabilitation of refugees difficult.
Vienna Declaration and Programme of Action urges all governments to take immediate measures and to
develop strong policies to prevent and combat all forms and manifestations of racism, xenophobia or related

project teams work, the pros and cons of using virtual project of employees. The paper has been able to
describe the various forms of virtual teams, how they are implemented within an organization, the challenges
that an organization may face when making the application of the model and also the advantages or wins
associated with the practice. The chapter ends with recommendations with some suggestions on how to
incorporate traditional and virtual project to get a successful organization. Background The world is becoming
smaller and smaller and the advancement in technology has enabled a diversity of communication and
collaboration tools that were unaffordable for most companies to implement. Most of these companies have
employed the use of virtual groups to deal with their business endeavors because of many reasons. Some of
them include the urgency to address their customer problems, developing products and delivery services. With
the ability to create virtual teams, these teams are operating without limitations of distance, time and global

Visual/Formal Analysis
The Liberation of Aunt Jemima by Betye Saar
When we look at this piece, we tend to see the differences in ways a subject can be organized and displayed.
This assemblage by Betye Saar shows us how using different pieces of medium can bring about the wholeness
of the point of view in which the artist is trying to portray. So in part, this piece speaks about stereotyping and
how it is seen through the eyes of an artist.
At 1st glance this piece does look like a photograph, even a painting, but this series is a work of mixed media
layered one on top of the other in a box. Yet this assemblage of random found objects, with the artists ... Show

By doing this, Saar dramatically changes the viewer s perspective of the piece, and utterly alters the image.
This could mean several things, she could be depicting the fact that this woman is expressing that she will go
to war for her race, and does not care about what questions arise about her and her beliefs.
Saar, now draws us to the outermost part of the assemblage. Here we see a completely different depiction of
Aunt Jemima. This Jemima stands holding a white child on one of her hips, with a smile that can kill you on
her face or a don t mess with me smile. She is also depicted standing behind a white picket fence with a white
sheet draped over it. This could be seen as something that can be defined as complex, based on how the viewer
depicts it. Going forward, the sheet is almost obsolete, due to a brown fist raised in the black power salute.
This gives us a sense that Aunt Jemima is transformed from a negative stereotype, to an independent, assertive,
strong individual human being. Saar has given us the sense that she has seized control of this piece to define
identity. She is also holstering this pistol, which also shows the viewer that she will fight for what she believes
in. As a Mammy it s seen by the white population that she has nothing worth fighting for, but as we can see,
the white child she is bearing helps ease the role of Motherhood and Nurturer. She takes it a step further by
giving everyone ample time

(Reese, 2004) In addition, they made a closed shop illegal, and mandated that union had an obligation to
bargain in good faith. The final two changes prohibited unions from encouraging boycotts and unions were not
allowed to charge excessive dues or initiation fees and could not participate in the practice of featherbedding,
or causing an employer to pay for work not performed (Reese, 2004). Employers now had the right to speak
out against unions as long as the speech did not contain threats or promises to the employees (Reese, 2004).
States were now allowed to put right to work laws in place, which made it illegal to set union membership as a
condition for employment (Reese, 2004) Carmel being located in Colorado and California (both right to work
states) is impacted by this law in the regard that employees are hired on an at will basis, and there is no
protection for the employee job security based on seniority, performance or for any other reason. Basically it
means that there is no contract between the employer and the employee to guarantee the employee has to work
for the employer or that the employer has to continue to provide a job to the employee in the private sector.

Ever seen the classic movie Witness for the Prosecution? Let me quote a dialogue from it between Sir Wilfred
Roberts, the defense lawyer and Leonard Vole, the murder accused. Roberts: Mr. Vole I must tell you I m not
putting her (Mrs. Vole) in the witness box. Vole: You re not? Why not? Roberts: Well one thing she s a
foreigner, not too familiar with the subtleties of our language. The prosecution could easily trip her up. Even if
one is not in the position of Mr. Vole and one s life does not depend on it, the above quote still demonstrates
the importance of language and language classes. If you don t know a language properly and have to interact
with the people who speak it, you re going to have a hard time and will often be misunderstood.

Oddball Paradigm Paper
Utilizing the passive oddball paradigm, the present study compared the neural processes underlying the
discrimination of the high rising and low rising tones in Cantonese between two groups of typically developed
native speakers differing critically in their production of the rising tone contrast. The design allowed us to gain
insights in the online processing of the two highly similar contour tones and to reveal the relationship between
tone perception and production. The main findings are the longer discrimination latency demonstrated by the
[βˆ’Pro+Per] compared with the [+Pro+Per] participants and the significant differences in neural responses
between the two participant groups to the subtle acoustic cue of rise time in the amplitude envelope, rather
than the pitch contour of the rising tones. More importantly, these perceptual differences are shown to ... Show

Based on the results of auditory transcription of tone productions by participants of this study, the major
confusion pattern among speakers with non distinctive production was T5 produced as T2, which seemed to
align with the acoustic analyses. The acoustic forms of T5 were found to approximate those of T2 in terms of
F0 offset and amplitude rise time [see Fig. 2(a) and Table III]. For the ERP findings, early components were
elicited in the T2/T5 condition from the permutation test for both groups, whereas an early component in the
T5/T2 condition was observed only in the [+Pro+Per] group. These results are particularly interesting as
temporal cues are generally recognized as secondary or concomitant to the primary cue of F0 in the literature
of tone perception (Gandour, 1983; Khouw and Ciocca, 2007). In cognitive frameworks of auditory perception
(Holt and Lotto, 2008, 2010), the speech signal encompasses a multitude of acoustic

The Ethical Use Of Animal Experimentation In The United...
In the United States, over 100 million animals are used for experimentation and testing every year. Most of
these animals will either live a lifetime of misery and neglect or face death. A copious amount of controversy

for harsh chemicals, for medical research, and educational purposes.
Products used by people everyday may have once been tested on animals. One way companies test on animals

The Five Precepts in the Context of The Eightfold Path Both The Five Precepts and The Eightfold Path are

Social Issues In Easy Street
The presentation of these social issues as something to laugh at rather than worry helps provide much needed
relief to an audience that might otherwise be consumed with agony over how to cope and solve those
problems. This presentation also allows the focus to be drawn onto the alternatives available to Easy Street.
Chaplin allows the Tramp character to be a reference on possibilities to fix the problems afflicting Easy Street,
one being religion. The Tramp is saved at the beginning of the film, welcomed into his new faith by a pastor
and The Girl. To affirm his commitment to this decision, he returns the donation box he was intending to steal.
The newfound hope that The Tramp has acquired inspires him to get a job as a policeman, where he
inadvertently adopts the role of being the savior of Easy Street. There he meets his nemesis, the Bully, whose
eyebrows are done in a manner suggesting horns, likening him to a Satanic figure. When the Bully bends the
gas lamp with his sheer strength, it suggests there s something inhuman and demonic about him. The Tramp
therefore becomes even easier to sympathize with, since he is facing insurmountable odds, but isn t deterred.
By allowing the Tramp to succeed in his defeat of the Bully, Chaplin suggests that the righteous will always
overcome evil, the good just have to try, albeit even unconventionally, in order to overcome evil. The Tramp
does not stop at trying to stop evil, but also demonstrates trying to spread good. He

The Similarities Between First And Second-Wave Feminism
Other than the obvious time differences between first and second wave feminism, the real contrasts are found
in what it was the women, and men in some cases, were fighting for. First Wave feminists mainly fought for

brought on by the newly educated female population. Women s experiences under colonization taught them to

were fighting for similar issues addressed by the predecessors, however they were able to take things further,
since there was a precedent. Instead of just gaining access to higher education, Second Wavers were pushing
for Women s Studies classes and departments, and for prominent historical women to be included in academia.
Women in the U.S. were also beginning the enduring battle of saving the environment. Second Wave feminists
brought internal attention to the problems caused by violence against women and by poor environmental
practices.

Off Base Living Vs Military Life Essay
Military Life: On base Versus Off base Living
Sacrificing their lives serving the United States of America, military personnel at least deserve a worthy home.
It is common for military families to move every few years and each time comes with a decision of living in a
civilian home of their choice or an assigned family sized home on the military base to which they are assigned.
Both options have their pros and cons: for instance, their differences in privacy, cost effectiveness, and security
are all major factors in which home location is the better option.
A lack of privacy can be a significant issue for many who are raised modestly, but others may not think it is a
big deal. On base, it is common to live in tight nit communities with co workers who can literally hear their
neighbor s toilet flush; that s embarrassing! It may be convenient to have an on base commissary, hospital,
school, and shopping mall; however, usually everyone living there takes advantage of these amenities and gets
to know each other very well, so the latest gossip spreads like wildfire. Unlike on base, there are ... Show more

It is extremely common for military personnel to inevitably be re stationed every few years, so moving and
saving money would be a smart choice. Renting or buying homes off base grants more freedom and creativity
in the home, like painting pretty murals and adding construction projects; but investing all that money into
something that will be left behind appears pointless. As well as the home investment costs, the commute for
living off base is also pricey to get to work and everywhere else depending on the distance. The traffic hasn t
even been taken in to account and everyone knows how irritating it is. Fortunately, the military provides a
housing allowance for those who choose to live off base, and pays for the house and utilities for those who
choose to live

Simulated Violence In Video Games
Simulated Violence Role playing games with simulated violence are diverting. They increase focus levels and
can help make friendships. If someone was on a team, working with them together towards a common goal
they might become quick friends. Or if someone had to save the team they would be able to focus better since
it would feel like more was at stake. Role playing games with simulated violence are not dangerous as long as
people don t take it too far. One way that violent games are diverting and should be allowed is that they mature
teens more. These games can expose teens at an early age to stuff they might be seeing in the future and
prepare them. A high school in New york has developed a violent game that has an important moral, outside of
school the world isn t safe, And, keen as the graduating seniors may be to leave, the game tells them that the
world outside is not a safe place. Some students graduating may not realize that everything isn t always going
to be in your favor the way it is in school. Teens also don t lose their common sense while playing these
games. In the game killer at a New York high school a student, going or someone, had to go to an airport but
decided not to bring a water gun and bring a squirt fish instead. Another reason to keep ... Show more content

The exaggerated violence in simulated games might be more violent than it needs to be, but it s nothing

Compare And Contrast Ford And Nixon Speech
President Richard Nixon resigned from office in 1974 which led to President Gerald Ford taking his place. The
day of Nixon s resignation he made a speech to the American people. This speech was to let America know
that this was the best thing he could do for the country. The next day Ford was sworn into office and he also
gave a speech. This speech shared a similar purpose to the speech given by Nixon the day before. The
purposes of these two speeches, although were given for different things, were very similar. Nixon was
involved with the Watergate scandal which led to his impeachment. Nixon s speech to America was given a
purpose, and this was to let the people of his country know that this may not be ideal, but it was best. It states

Reflection On Behavior Intervention
Reflection
I do not feel that I have sufficient data to make an informed decision on the effectiveness of this intervention
for Adam. However, I would conclude that my attempt at a behavior intervention was unsuccessful. This was
due to a variety of reasons. The foremost reason being to inconsistent application of the intervention. At times,
weeks passed between trials. As we have learned, intervention is successful when it is implemented regularly.
It was unwise to set my intervention monitoring in an environment which I have no control over and for a
small window of time, for a specific type of instruction. Instruction is not given at a set period of time, as I had
thought when collecting my baseline data. Adam s general education teacher often has them do individual
work, then moves to whole group instruction, at which point I need to leave. Furthermore, there are a great
deal of holidays during autumn, so students were often participating in the arts, rather than math. These issues
could have potentially been avoided if I had spoken to his general education teacher about her schedule, but I
did not. Further consultation could have helped this project to be successful.
The token board may have not been the most appropriate intervention for what I was doing. I chose this
intervention because both Adam and I are familiar with it. Further, I had planned to increase the duration
overtime. My plan was, for the first week or two, I would have my student focus for one minute

Annotated Script Of A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words
Guethshina V Altena
Project 2 Rough draft (Written script of video)
When talking about the rhetorical aspect of images, people tend to ignore the potential power that a
photograph has to convince someone. However, images such as those of veterans meeting their relatives in
tears use emotional appeal to convince their viewers so those viewers are far more likely to agree with the
message behind photo. In a sense, photographs can have a powerful impact on how one sees and interpret the
message that comes with an image.
I believe that many people underestimate the value and capacity of a picture to use rhetorical appeals. It may
be hard to realize that a visual image can have a great impact on someone; there is a Chinese proverb that says:
A picture is worth a thousand words and I strongly believe this statement to be true. Looking at those three
pictures of veterans with kids, everyone can see something different in them and there ae multiples
interpretations. Although there is a lot to be said about these photographs, I will make my argument in a brief,
clear and concise manner.
In order to measure the extent to which those photographs are appealing and rhetorical, it is crucial to analyze
every aspect of the picture without leaving any details behind. First let s look at the first picture of a woman
veteran hugging a children that we assume is her daughter. We must pay attention to the expression on her face
which is a happiness that is overwhelming, she looks like

What Is Rawls Definition Of Justice
Rawls definition of justice differs from Aristotle s definition. According to Aristotle, justice is viewed as the
condition when a person follows the law and is fair. Justice often times deals with money and honor.
Specifically, he defines two types of justice distributive and reciprocity. Distributive justice means that the
amount of wealth a person has is directly related to the person s merit. While, reciprocity justice means that if
there is disproportional ratio of gains and deficits, there will be a balance to even out the disproportional aspect
of this kind of justice. For example, if a man is cheated by another man and loses money, he can go to court to
fight his case and there will be a judge who decides. While, Rawls definition ... Show more content on

Previously, silent comedy films would poke fun at the lower class and because of the nature of not having any
sound; it depicted the lower class as barbaric and country bumpkin. However, with sound, the films were able
to depict the realistic differences caused by class because it was no longer just funny movements. There was
substance. Trading Places also depicted the class status of the different characters. When the film first
introduced Valentine, he was physically shorter than the rest of the actors, (because he pretended to have no
legs to gain sympathy for money), to depict that he is from a lower class. His clothes were also not as crisp as
the wealthy people s. He was not in a suit and tie. When Valentine was led into his new home, he kept putting
things in his pocket because he did not believe that the home was his. When we see the Duke Brothers being
introduced, they are sitting a room filled of fancy books and furniture. They also spoke in an exaggerated
snobbish tone to depict their wealth off backgrounds. Another thing is that when they panned into the club that
the men were in, it was mostly filled with other white men from other Ivy leagues. The help who bought them
the tea was a person of color. The film depicted the different class statuses in the very introduction of the
movie. Although, it may have appeared exaggerated with the snobbish tone of voice, the truth is that some

How Black Is Black In Shakespeare s Othello
In othello there is a obvious difference in the way how black s AKA moor s are treated in the play. Everything
that happens in the play revolves around othello and the simple fact that he is black. This has an effect on a lot
of Othello s conflicts with people in the play such as him having conflict with Desdemona s father because he
is black.
In Othello everyone makes the fact that Othello is black AKA a moor. Shakespeare doesn t aim to make the
fact that he is black the main point in his play but it is a very important part and key detail in the play.the fact
that he is black can mean one of two things; 1.) othello is the victim int all of the play or 2.) othello is the one
in the wrong or out of his place in society. Shakespeare made him different because it gives the plot more to

Her maturity is also confirmed when she is shown to be barefoot on the lino... washing up which is something

also when she leads the children back to the garden; Eveline as a result is trying to take the role of her mother
and trying to shield her sibling from anything that could harm them mentally and physically. In addition this
could be the reason why Eveline doesn t build up the murder and covers up the hole as she was in denial and
still tries to keep her control with brushing away the ring to hide any evidence. Eveline is one minute shown to
act too old for playing with the children and she fashions herself her own bikini (which is quite a mature item
of clothing, maybe this could be to make her feel older) and the next she is shown to stop talking about the
body and is in rejection as a result. Lastly a contrast to her mature self is that she needed confirmation when
she found the body by asking for a torch this shows that she doesn t have the amount of maturity needed to
make her own judgement and follow her instincts Penelope Lively succeeds in illustrating a contrast in

The Bells Tone
Edgar Allan Poe s theme in The Bells is the four stages of a person s life. The silver bell is appropriate for
childhood, the golden bell is the one for youth and the maturing for marriage. The brazen bell represents the
harsh and dangers of middle age, and the iron bell is suited to old age because of its heavy and melancholy
tone and also because it is associated with the funeral knell. (Litfinder)
In the first stanza, Poe never directly says the bells are Christmas bells, he uses the words tinkle, icy air, and
jingling, to let the reader know that he is describing Christmas. He uses repetition of words like rhyme and
time to give the reader an overall mood of happy (Poetry for student s pg. 47). He does this because this stanza

Poe provides a visual image and an association with a thing of value by referring to the bells as golden (pg.48).
He describes the night as balmy which gives a soothing and mild feeling instead of the harsh use of icy in the
first stanza (pg.48). Poe s world usage and repetition help the reader realize that this is a joyous mood. This
stanza symbolizes maturing, starting a family, and growing older.
The third stanza takes a dramatic turn and is dark and gloomy. The third stanza is describing the chaos of a fire
and the desperate sound of the fire alarm. Poe uses personification to describe the fire. He says that fire has a
desire to climb so high that it can sit next to the pale faced moon (pg.49). Previously in the poem the repetition
of bells was an upbeat and happy, but now he is using it to create a sense of urgency and panic (pg.49).
The final stanza is the saddest and depressing in the poem. In this stanza Poe is describing a person s funeral.
The bells are now black and made of iron and the sound is illustrated as melancholy and as a groan. Poe uses
personification in the phrase rust within their throats (line 69) to describe the bells having a thick raspy voice.
He also uses repetition by repeating Keeping time, time, time, in a sort of runic rhyme (line 92, 96, 101) to
create a creepy and disturbing feeling among the

Compare The Rate Of Reaction Between Magnesium And Calcium...
Reactions of Magnesium and Calcium with water.
Research Question:
How much reaction will be occur when you put Magnesium and Calcium with water?
Background Information and Introduction:
Magnesium and Calcium are both placed under group 2 in the periodic table. Group 2 is also known as
Alkaline Earth Metallic elements. All of the metals in group two have an oxidation number of +2, making
them extremely reactive. The metals are not found freely in the nature due to their reactivity.
When metals react with water (preferably cold), you will end up with metal hydroxide. When the metal reacts
with steam, metal oxide will be formed. Metal oxide is formed due to that the metal hydroxides decomposes to
distribute oxide and water.

The Skin Of Reptiles Are Most Affected By Global Warming
The skin of amphibians is tremendously thin, as a result of this frogs are extremely sensitive to any subtle
changes in the climate. In particular these are temperature, humidity, water quality and airborne diseases this
makes them acutely vulnerable to catching these diseases and fungal infections.
Unlike reptiles or birds, which have hard shelled eggs, amphibians have jelly like, unshelled eggs that cannot
survive desiccation. Amphibians need moist climates to reproduce, and this makes them extremely sensitive to
climate change. Frogs in high mountainous areas are most affected by global warming. The climate change

Tadpoles are very slow growing creatures and cannot begin breeding themselves until four years later. This
restrictive breeding pattern makes it difficult for frogs to reproduce efficiently with many disturbances being
fire, flood water, droughts and disease frequently interfering.
Frogs breeding phenology is being directly affected by enhanced climate change as they are highly susceptible
to rising temperatures. Most species of frogs remain inactive during the winter months and unbearable
summers. Although once the temperatures increase the species surface from hibernation and immediately
search for ponds and rivers to begin breeding. Females only breed once a year, and the process from a tadpole
to a frog can take anywhere between 20 days and 2 years depending on the species of the frog and the
surrounding conditions. If the conditions are not right, metamorphosis can be held back until the conditions are
correct. However if these conditions are never improved a tadpole can be stopped from developing any further.
With the effects from enhanced global warming, the conditions occurring are becoming less and less to the
suitable frogs, and there are less good breeding season occurring every year as a result of the transforming
climate. As a result of this the numbers of frogs in our ecosystems are rapidly decreasing.

Introduction It was the end of the biggest party of the year. Everyone is leaving now, man did we have a blast.
I m getting into my car now about to head home proud of myself because I promised my mother I would not

on the ground and all I can hear are the police, paramedics and sirens all around me. Then I think I heard one
of them say, the guy who hit her was drunk. As I lay in this pool of blood all of it belonging to me the guy who

Free Trade Is A Policy
Free trade is a policy followed by some international markets in which countries governments do not restrict
imports from, or exports to, other countries. Free trade is exemplified by the European Economic Area and the
North American Free Trade Agreement, which have established open markets. Free trade is an economic
policy under which the government does not interfere with trade. No tariffs are applied to imports or exports,
and people are allowed to trade goods and services as they please. Supply and demand dictates the prices for
which goods and services sell and are the only factors that determine how resources are allocated in society.
Under a free trade system, there are no trade barriers. There is free access to markets and market information,
and there are no government imposed monopolies. Those who support free trade believe that it allows
companies to come by raw materials and lower prices, which, in turn, results in lower prices on the open
market. Supporters also believe that the levels of employment in a nation are determined by the monetary
policy of that nation and not the trade policy. Thus, the free trade economy of the U.S. is not to blame for the
increasing levels of unemployment. Many jobs are leaving the nation, but supporters of the free trade debate
argue that if companies could not outsource their labor to other nations, they could just automate these
processes anyway. Additionally, when people work for a profit and must compete, they produce

Police officers may perform unlawful aggravated actions while people were looking. People that knew the

C. Community policing was brought to New York City.
Police had to maintain their assertion. Rights were misconceived only for the rich people. Their money was
thought to give them poser to avoid punishment. Detectives came about to professionally execute a proper
arrest. Police violence had to be halted, however crimes evolved like bad habit. Riots and organized surfaced
like a nightmare for law enforcement. Gangs were more of an issue in New York. One arrest of a gang can put
the community in fear. Community policing of neighborhoods started in neighborhoods they surveyed the
streets without performing law action. Citizens were comforted with the calm and strict society. The second
concept that rose was the vigilante. Back then there were three hundred fifty vigilante groups. Fortunately,
vigilante groups have detained and are a scarce subject today. They just wanted to ensure that crime does not
happen like suspects say will not happen.

  • 2. Why Do Best Choices In The Giver Essay Those who know more about concepts in life, will make better choices. If someone has knowledge about something, they most likely will make wiser decisions about it. The more intelligence someone has, the more good and bad they will see in the world. People who gain wisdom, may see the best things in life, causing them to make the best choices as well. Their ideal was to build a unique structure of government to put into action their beliefs in nationalism, limited government, and separation of powers with check and balances, and judicial reviews. The Founding Fathers wanted to generate a strong government while ensuring that the government would not become a threat to liberty or property. This assemblage by Betye Saar shows us how using different pieces of medium can bring about the wholeness of the point of view in which the artist is trying to portray. So in part, this piece speaks about stereotyping and how it is seen through the eyes of an artist. This could mean several things, she could be depicting the fact that this woman is expressing that she will go to war for her race, and does not care about what questions arise about her and her beliefs. Saar, now draws us to the outermost part of the assemblage. Here we see a completely different depiction of Aunt Jemima. This Jemima stands holding a white child on one of her hips, with a smile that can kill you on her face or a don t mess with me smile. She is also depicted standing behind a white picket fence with a white sheet draped over it. This could be seen as something that can be defined as complex, based on how the viewer depicts it. Going forward, the sheet is almost obsolete, due to a brown fist raised in the black power salute. This gives us a sense that Aunt Jemima is transformed from a negative stereotype, to an independent, assertive, strong individual human being. Saar has given us the sense that she has seized control of this piece to define identity. She is also holstering this pistol, which also shows the viewer that she will fight for what she believes in. As a Mammy it s seen by the white population that she has nothing worth fighting for, but as we can see, the white child she is bearing helps ease the role of Motherhood and Nurturer. A high school in New york has developed a violent game that has an important moral, outside of school the world isn t safe, And, keen as the graduating seniors may be to leave, the game tells them that the world outside is not a safe place. Some students graduating may not realize that everything isn t always going to be in your favor the way it is in school. Teens also don t lose their common sense while playing these games. • 24. Reflection On Behavior Intervention Reflection I do not feel that I have sufficient data to make an informed decision on the effectiveness of this intervention for Adam. However, I would conclude that my attempt at a behavior intervention was unsuccessful. This was due to a variety of reasons. The foremost reason being to inconsistent application of the intervention. At times, weeks passed between trials. As we have learned, intervention is successful when it is implemented regularly. It was unwise to set my intervention monitoring in an environment which I have no control over and for a small window of time, for a specific type of instruction. Instruction is not given at a set period of time, as I had thought when collecting my baseline data. Adam s general education teacher often has them do individual work, then moves to whole group instruction, at which point I need to leave. Furthermore, there are a great deal of holidays during autumn, so students were often participating in the arts, rather than math. These issues could have potentially been avoided if I had spoken to his general education teacher about her schedule, but I did not. Further consultation could have helped this project to be successful. The token board may have not been the most appropriate intervention for what I was doing. I chose this intervention because both Adam and I are familiar with it. Further, I had planned to increase the duration overtime. Annotated Script Of A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words Guethshina V Altena Project 2 Rough draft (Written script of video) When talking about the rhetorical aspect of images, people tend to ignore the potential power that a photograph has to convince someone. However, images such as those of veterans meeting their relatives in tears use emotional appeal to convince their viewers so those viewers are far more likely to agree with the message behind photo. In a sense, photographs can have a powerful impact on how one sees and interpret the message that comes with an image. I believe that many people underestimate the value and capacity of a picture to use rhetorical appeals. It may be hard to realize that a visual image can have a great impact on someone; there is a Chinese proverb that says: A picture is worth a thousand words and I strongly believe this statement to be true. Looking at those three pictures of veterans with kids, everyone can see something different in them and there ae multiples interpretations. Although there is a lot to be said about these photographs, I will make my argument in a brief, clear and concise manner. In order to measure the extent to which those photographs are appealing and rhetorical, it is crucial to analyze every aspect of the picture without leaving any details behind. First let s look at the first picture of a woman veteran hugging a children that we assume is her daughter. According to Aristotle, justice is viewed as the condition when a person follows the law and is fair. Justice often times deals with money and honor. While, reciprocity justice means that if there is disproportional ratio of gains and deficits, there will be a balance to even out the disproportional aspect of this kind of justice. • 30. The Bells Tone Edgar Allan Poe s theme in The Bells is the four stages of a person s life. The silver bell is appropriate for childhood, the golden bell is the one for youth and the maturing for marriage. The brazen bell represents the harsh and dangers of middle age, and the iron bell is suited to old age because of its heavy and melancholy tone and also because it is associated with the funeral knell. (Litfinder) In the first stanza, Poe never directly says the bells are Christmas bells, he uses the words tinkle, icy air, and jingling, to let the reader know that he is describing Christmas. He uses repetition of words like rhyme and time to give the reader an overall mood of happy (Poetry for student s pg. 47). He does this because this stanza ... He describes the night as balmy which gives a soothing and mild feeling instead of the harsh use of icy in the first stanza (pg.48). Poe s world usage and repetition help the reader realize that this is a joyous mood. This stanza symbolizes maturing, starting a family, and growing older. The third stanza takes a dramatic turn and is dark and gloomy. The third stanza is describing the chaos of a fire and the desperate sound of the fire alarm. Poe uses personification to describe the fire. He says that fire has a desire to climb so high that it can sit next to the pale faced moon (pg.49). Previously in the poem the repetition of bells was an upbeat and happy, but now he is using it to create a sense of urgency and panic (pg.49). The final stanza is the saddest and depressing in the poem. In this stanza Poe is describing a person s funeral. The bells are now black and made of iron and the sound is illustrated as melancholy and as a groan. Poe uses personification in the phrase rust within their throats (line 69) to describe the bells having a thick raspy voice. Tadpoles are very slow growing creatures and cannot begin breeding themselves until four years later. This restrictive breeding pattern makes it difficult for frogs to reproduce efficiently with many disturbances being fire, flood water, droughts and disease frequently interfering. Frogs breeding phenology is being directly affected by enhanced climate change as they are highly susceptible to rising temperatures. Most species of frogs remain inactive during the winter months and unbearable summers. Although once the temperatures increase the species surface from hibernation and immediately search for ponds and rivers to begin breeding. Females only breed once a year, and the process from a tadpole to a frog can take anywhere between 20 days and 2 years depending on the species of the frog and the surrounding conditions. If the conditions are not right, metamorphosis can be held back until the conditions are correct. However if these conditions are never improved a tadpole can be stopped from developing any further. With the effects from enhanced global warming, the conditions occurring are becoming less and less to the suitable frogs, and there are less good breeding season occurring every year as a result of the transforming climate. Free trade is exemplified by the European Economic Area and the North American Free Trade Agreement, which have established open markets. Free trade is an economic policy under which the government does not interfere with trade. No tariffs are applied to imports or exports, and people are allowed to trade goods and services as they please. Supply and demand dictates the prices for which goods and services sell and are the only factors that determine how resources are allocated in society. Under a free trade system, there are no trade barriers. There is free access to markets and market information, and there are no government imposed monopolies. Those who support free trade believe that it allows companies to come by raw materials and lower prices, which, in turn, results in lower prices on the open market. Supporters also believe that the levels of employment in a nation are determined by the monetary policy of that nation and not the trade policy. Thus, the free trade economy of the U.S. is not to blame for the increasing levels of unemployment. Many jobs are leaving the nation, but supporters of the free trade debate argue that if companies could not outsource their labor to other nations, they could just automate these processes anyway.
