Green Forest Is Easy On The Eye
Green forest is easy on the eye, it breaks the harshness of roads and buildings and adds interest to
farmland and mountain slopes. In its sanctuary birdsong and air currents play with your auditory
senses and aroma s of nectar, decayed logs and leaves fill the air.
After a long absence from New Zealand, I decided to reacquaint myself with the types of forests found
in the Land of the Long White cloud. In this article, I have based the forest communities on the
categories from The New Zealand Plant Conservation Network: Beech Forest, Podocarp/broadleaf and
Kauri Podocarp/broadleaf.
An introduction
New Zealand is in a temperate zone, located between the Antarctic Circle and the Tropic of Capricorn.
It is also in the path of the roaring forties, a strong westerly wind circling the globe, between the
latitudes of forty and fifty degrees. Etched by fiords, mountain ranges, volcanoes, plains, plateaus and
just over 15,000 kilometres of coastline, it shapes a diverse landscape.
Over time, plants have evolved and adapted to this landscape and climate. Today there are 2,418
native species of forest plants, which includes ferns and grasses. Native mosses, liverworts, hornworts
and lichens make up approximately another 3,480 plants. Most plants are evergreen with about (still
counting) 28 deciduous species.
Beech Forest
I like how a montane beech forest defines a distinct line across mountain slopes and the excitement
you feel when you emerge into the alpine zone .

The Political Influence of Women
Women Exert Significant Political Influence Women have never been able to exert any significant
political influence: discuss with reference to any one period of History that you have studied.
Throughout history women are often seen as subservient to men. This has led to the belief that they do
not have any kind of significant political influence. Based upon historical information, it is clear that
these views are simply untrue. This is because women have made a noteworthy contribution at certain
periods in time. A good example of this can be seen by looking no further than Catherine the Great of
Russia. She ruled the country from 1762 to 1796. During this time, she was able to introduce major
transformations that helped to modernize the nation. A few of the most notable include: improvements
in arts / culture, education, foreign affairs and banking / finance. The combination of these factors
changed the country and allowed it to become a world power. (Alexander 1995) (Del Testa 2001)
(Hyland 2003) (Streeter 2007) In the area of arts / culture, she encouraged many people to be creative
and share their ideas (based upon Western influences). This led to a Renaissance in literature, music
and sculpting and painting. At the same time, she created different museums and academies that
supported these views. This would have a positive influence on Russia by leading to the exploration of
liberal philosophies. Over the course of time, this brought the country closer to Europe

Nationalism Source Assimilation Eric Cope Analysis
Nationalism Source Interpretation Eric Cope
The author of source I is stating the thought that if you accomplish something and no one knows about
it it will be forgotten completely. Stories, songs, etc leave behind a legacy. An entity to remember
something that has passed. The same goes for nations, before the writing and the internet the only way
to pass on a record was with a story. If no one was told about the occurrence it would fade off into
nothingness. Whereas if told with a story even after you passed you could be remembered, leaving
behind a legacy. The tales we weave and share connect us as a people allowing things about us to live
longer than we do. This is heavily true when it comes to nations, many of their stories are known all
throughout the people. Such as Canada and Terry Fox. Terry passed in 1981 but is cause still lives on,
masses of Canadians know who Terry is and what he accomplished. Allowing his legacy to echo far
after he passed. He has become a symbol of Canada and it s nationalism. The author is saying that if
no one told each other about Terry his legacy would have faded to unimportance.
Source II is discussing about how interconnected religion and nationalism. The author states that no
matter how absurd and degrading a belief is it still connects people. Creating groups and alliances
between people who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Influence Of The Monster In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
What indeed makes one a monster? Is it our physical appearance, our direct or indirect actions, our
secrets? In Frankenstein, Mary Shelley portrays Victor s creation as a monster but throughout the
novel we begin to realize the real monster is Victor, due to his self centered personality, his abnormal
view on life, and the abandonment of his creation to show us society s perspective on what a monster
is, is inaccurate because the social norm can be just as monstrous. Victor s selfishness is one of the
several characteristics that makes him a monster in this novel. Many casualties in the book were due
to Victor even if he was not the actual killer. When the creature murdered William, Victor still kept his
creation a secret. Justine was blamed for the murder and even when she falsely confessed to being
guilty he still did not speak a word about his invention. The reason that was holding him back from
revealing what he had made was he did not want to look like a fool. This is shown when he says A
thousand times rather would I have confessed myself guilty of the of the crime ascribed to Justine, but
I was absent when it was committed, and such a declaration would have been as the ravings of a
madman... (Shelley 83). Another example of Victor s narcissistic personality is how he used Elizabeth
and their wedding just to lure in the creature. Victor s plan was to give the creature what he wanted
which was a wedding, and when he was close enough, he would shoot him. We

A Career As A Trauma Surgeon
The first surgeon we ll look at is a trauma surgeon. Trauma surgery is a surgical specialty that utilizes
both operative and non operative management to treat traumatic injuries, typically in the abdominal
region or in the cranial region such as trauma from a head injury. Trauma surgeons generally complete
residency training in General Surgery and often becoming an assistant surgeon in trauma or surgical
critical care. The trauma surgeon is responsible for initially resuscitating the patient, and or stabilizing
the patient. The attending trauma surgeon also leads the trauma team, which typically includes nurses
as well as resident physicians in the hospitals.

The Influence Of The March On Washington
William P. Jones s The March on Washington begins by highlighting A. Philip Randolph, a black labor
unionist and civil rights advocate, who attempted to organize a March on Washington in 1941.
Although Randolph s original march failed to come to fruition, the novel depicts the proceedings as a
prerequisite to the 1963 march. Depicting Randolph as a central figure to the March on Washington
Movement, the novel tells the story of the events leading up to and through the March on Washington
that took place on August 28, 1963. Although the majority of the focus of The March on Washington
revolves around the actions of A. Philip Randolph and his mostly male peripheral contacts before the
march, I argue that the capacity and framework of the foundations of the 1963 March on Washington
were substantially influenced by the actions of prominent black female leaders. The March on
Washington of 1941 s was a response to President Roosevelt s inability to address the problems
associated with discrimination and segregation in the labor sectors of federally funded defense
industries and in every sector of the military (26, 27, and 30). A. Philip Randolph originally predicted
that 10,00 people would attend the march, but as the march approached the numbers increased from
10,00 to 50,00 to 100,00 Negro laborers, domestics, mechanics, professionals would arrive at the
Capital for the march (Jones, 37). Why did Randolph expect such an increase in numbers, and where
did he think these people would come from? It is likely that Randolph s confidence stemmed from the
recognition that his movement was informally backed due to pressure from Jeanetta Welch on Mary
McLeod Bethune, the president of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) by the NCNW
(Jones, 34). As Randolph s most prominent backer, the NCNW consisted of a network of women s
clubs and sororities, like Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA), who sent an avalanche of more than 3000 letters,
telegrams and long distance telephone calls to white house officials, whose entire membership
exceeded 800,000 (Jones, 34). Without the support of NCNW Randolph wouldn t have had the
capacity needed to intimidate the nation s president with the possibility of 100,000 mass marchers.

The Pyramid Of Djoser Complex And The Colosseum
The two works of art that I will be talking about are The Pyramid of Djoser complex and The
Colosseum. The subject that these two works of art share is architecture. The Pyramid of Djoser
complex was created by Imhotep who was the vizier of Pharaoh Djoser. It was built during the 27th
century BC for the burial of Pharaoh Djoser. The medium used to make The Pyramid of Djoser
complex is stone. The Roman Colosseum was created under emperor Vespasian and was completed
under his successor and heir Titus. The art style for The Pyramid of Djoser complex is an Egyptian
kind of style. Construction for the Colosseum began in AD 72 and was completed in AD 80 under
Titus. The medium that was used to create the colosseum was concrete, stone and sand. The art style
for the Colosseum is a Roman kind of Style. In this essay I will be comparing The Pyramid of Djoser
complex and The Roman Colosseum and explain why The Roman Colosseum is a much better work
of art than The Pyramid of Djoser complex. The Pyramid of Djoser complex was built in honor of the
Pharaoh Djoser by his vizier named Imhotep. This pyramid was the burial of the pharaoh and was the
central feature of a vast mortuary complex in a gigantic courtyard. This was surrounded by ceremonial
structures and a lot of decoration. It was the first Egyptian Pyramid that consisted of six mastabas that
were built atop one another in what were revisions and developments of the first plan. It is considered
to be the earliest large scale cut

Cold War Nuclear Weapons
Due to the fear of being attacked by multiple atomic bombs, Stalin backed down. In defense, he
started the development and research of the atomic bomb. Later on this would catch the attention of
the U.S. One of the ways the U.S helped Germany during this blockade, was the creation of the North
Atlantic Treaty Organization, a military alliance, on April 4, 1949. NATO was a mutual defense treaty
that was set up to provide Western Europe with military aid. The U.S, Canada, and 10 Western
European nations were the ones who signed the treaty. The goal of the treaty was to prevent the
expansion of the Soviets, and to protect West Germany. This lead to the nuclear arms race between the
U.S and Russia. In 1949, the Soviet Union tested an atomic bomb, ... Show more content on

The U.S and Soviet Union were starting to develop weapons such as intercontinental ballistic missiles
(ICBM s) and submarine ballistic missiles (SLBM s), which both were armed with nuclear warheads.
The creation of these missiles lead to biological warfare because they were used as threats between the
U.S and Russia. And knowing what treacherous effects the nuclear weapons had, both countries used
that to each his advantage to scare each other. After constantly increasing their numbers of missiles
being made, both the U.S and Russia had enough missiles to destroy themselves and the world over
and over again. Also in 1960, the U2 incident occurred. The U2 incident gets its name from the U2
spy plane. The U.S would use the spy planes to monitor the Soviet Union. But because of the
development of spy satellites, the planes didn t need to be used because the satellites provided more
information. Because of these technological advancements, both superpowers were confident that they
had the capability to destroy one another with a nuclear attack and also to monitor one another. At that
point in time, the Soviet Union and the U.S knew that they could destroy each other and were worried
about the fact, so they held each other hostage instead. This ability lead to the creation of Mutual
Assured Destruction (MAD). MAD exists when no matter how much damage one side does to the
other by using nuclear weapons the victim of the opening attack can launch a devastating retaliatory

The Mac OS is the product of Apple, which was created in 1976 by the late Steve Jobs and Steve
Wozniac. Mac OS, unlike Microsoft s Windows, is an operating system designed only for the
Macintosh computers. Whereas Microsoft s creation of Windows seemed more or less linear after the
late 1980 s, Apple circulated a number of different computers with different OS s, such as the Apple
II, Apple III, the Lisa, in addition to the line of Macintoshes. The ultimate brilliance behind Apple s
development of its operating systems is vertical combination: Mac also develops both its own
hardware and software. However Microsoft takes a different approach: it provides the OS that is used
by almost all IBM compatible computers manufactured. Of all the individual personal computer
ventures that Apple started however, only the top sellers of the Macintosh remain in production and
continue to evolve.
The first Mac was preceded by the Apple I, the Apple II which was very successful, the Apple III
which was a disaster, and the Lisa which was a disaster almost as bad as the Apple III. It was
introduced in 1984, but development on Mac OS began in 1979. When presented, it was the first
system to rely exclusively on a graphical user interface to respond to user input. However it was the
recognition of this graphical user interface that encouraged Microsoft in its process of Windows.

Essay On Becoming A Recording Engineer
George Martin was the Beatles recording engineer during their 8 year career. George was the man who
gave life to much of the beatles music. He recorded them, mixed them, and mastered them. He floated
his own ideas into the music while simultaneously keeping it theirs. He is often considered the fifth
beatle due to his role in their music, as he rightly should. The career of a recording engineer is one
where a person can be creative and exercise his passion for music. In the Recording Engineers line of
work, there are two forms of employment. You can either work in a large studio or work out of your
home. Working in a Studio has its pros as well as its cons just like working at home does. A studio job
will mean you will have more work than your self employed counterpart and more Engineers to work
with. This is due to the fact that if the studio you are working for is a reputable studio, then you will
receive the fruits of said reputation. Though, Working in a studio means you will work full time, or in
some cases overtime, to meet a deadline. Most will also work on holidays and weekends for the same
reason. A self employed Engineer will often set his own hours, but work less frequently. When they
work, it is most often out of their own home studio. This is why most self employed engineers ...

Modern Voyeurism
Modern Voyeurism The Male Gaze in Disturbia As an advanced representation system the cinema
possesses questions of the ways the unconscious structure ways of seeing and pleasure in looking.
Feminists have been using Freud s psychoanalytical theory as a political weapon in order to
deconstruct popular Hollywood cinema and how it stimulates the patriarchal culture. Even though we
are more conscious about these structures nowadays, Hollywood cinema still uses the Male Gaze in
order to control the identification processes of the spectator. A recent example is the thriller Disturbia
(2007) by D.J. Caruso, seen as a modern interpretation of Hitchcock s Rear Window. It s a movie

At first she is isolated and therefore glamorous and sexualized. Nevertheless, as soon as Ashley gets
involved with Kale and his voyeurism she becomes his property. He influences her actions. A great
example is when Ashley decides to throw a party, which makes Kale jealous and decides to ruin her
party so she has to come to his house to stop him. Instead of doing so, they kiss and continue spying
the neighbour, exactly as Kale wanted. By means of identification with Kale, through participation in
his power, the spectator can indirectly possess her too. Another notable fact about the dominance over
Ashley is the fact that she is framed a lot of times within the screenshots, making her limited (see
annex 2). This refers to Freud s psychoanalytical theory; females are limited because of the fact they
are incomplete , missing a phallus. The paradox of phallocentrism in all its manifestations is that it
depends on the image of the castrated woman to give order and meaning to its world. Therefore it s
necessary to emphasize this fact in the movie. Disturbia is a great adaptation of Hitchcock s Rear
Window. By using the same techniques as Hitchcock the director creates a tremendous suspense. Even
though women are more empowered nowadays, he still knows how to force the Male Gaze upon our
unconsciousness. Nevertheless, thanks to Mulvey s essay we are able to deconstruct these patriarchal
codes. Annexes 1.

Domestic Violence In Sports
If someone were to turn on a sports channel such as ESPN, within five minutes someone would have

because that is all that gets into the media. NFL Athletes are not given nearly the correct punishments
by, the justice system and the NFL for crimes like child abuse, domestic violence, and other major
crimes. In the past three years, there have been over 150 NFL players charged with a crime that the
media knows about. The outcome in all but seven of them was no jail time ( NFL Arrests and Charges
). One of the most notorious cases of all time involved O.J. Simpson who was an athlete. As most

Also, the point of this is to not label male athlete s wives of being the only victim, as it is not
impossible for a case to have a man as a victim. The NFL must also earn commendation for really
marketing against domestic violence with great national commercials going against domestic violence.
But sadly there have been 98 cases of domestic violence in the NFL and those are only the ones that
have been reported. Those are only cases that have been reported, and it is likely that there are a few
more that have not been reported putting the number of domestic violence cases in the last 15 years
over 100. Ray Rice is one of the more recent players charged with this crime and is still eligible to
play in the NFL today. Rice received a $125 fine and counseling, that s it (NFL Arrests and Charges).
A man that makes millions of dollars a year and was caught on surveillance dragging his unconscious
wife out of an elevator was charged just $125 dollars. It seems nothing but ridiculous that the court
would have this verdict, but when you are in one of the highest paying jobs in the country, you can
afford the best lawyer possible making it so much easier to get away with crimes. The NFL
commissioner, Roger Goodell, also has a play in this. Originally, Rice was only going to serve a 2
game suspension and then he was eligible to play again. However, since there was so much

Analyzing Sherlock Holmes Article Deduction
This passage comes from Sherlock Holmes s article on deduction, the unique process to which he
ascribes his success as a detective. He argues that through the power of deduction, or otherwise the
process of using clues and details to explain a hypothesis or argument. This passage shows a flaw in
Holmes s reasoning since the method being described is not that of deduction, but induction; the
process of making an argument to explain small clues or details. Nevertheless, Holme s reasoning
shows an important ideal in detective fiction of this era, where mundane objects are clues used to aid

Holmes explains his idea of the human memory as a room with limited storage capacity. This relates
to Holmes crafting of his skill and ability to be specialised in knowledge relevant to his work while
being unknowledgeable about unrelated topics. Holmes presents an image of the human mind as an
open canvas that does not simply absorb information, but you must actively choose what information
to remember. Since the amount of information is limited, a person should according to Holmes only
select the information which pertains to their profession. The passage identifies a person s ability to
craft his own mind and develop skills which will enable him to succeed in any field, something that
would have attracted to readers of the middle class and liberals since it means that everyone has the
same ability to make something of themselves. The problem presented in the passage is with the

Characterizing Amylin and Salmon Calcitonin Receptors in...
Background Amylin and Salmon Calcitonin belong to the calcitonin family of peptides and have high
affinity binding sites in the rat spinal cord. The aim of this study was to functionally characterize
receptors for Amylin and Salmon Calcitonin in the spinal cord of rats. We assessed the expression of c
fos in response to intraplantar formalin in the lumbar regions of spinal cord in conscious rats.
Methods:
Amylin (0.05nmoles) or Salmon Calcitonin (0.005nmoles) were administrated intrathecally) 10 min
before the start of formalin test. Antagonists were injected intrathecally 10min before the
administration of either of the peptides.
Results:
Two hours after formalin stimulation, rats pretreated intrathecally by either Amylin or Salmon
Calcitonin showed lower numbers of c Fos immunoreactive nuclei in their lumbar spinal cord as
compared to rats pretreated by saline. These effects were reversed upon co administration of either of
the Amylin antagonists AC187 or rat amylin8 37, but not rat α CGRP8 37. Few cells with c Fos
immunreactivity were found in the lumbar spinal cord of rats two hours after i.t. injection of saline,
Amylin and/or Salmon Calcitonin. However, Fos like immunoreactivity was increased in the lumbar
spinal cord two hours after i.t. treatment of either of the antagonists AC187 and rat amylin8 37when
compared to saline treated rats.
Conclusion:
Both Amylin and Salmon Calcitonin inhibit formalin induced c Fos expression in the rat lumbar spinal
cord when

On Two Friars
The first chapter of G.K. Chesterton s biography of Thomas Aquinas, Saint Thomas Aquinas, entitled
On Two Friars , compares and contrasts the two great friars: Thomas Aquinas and Saint Francis.
Chesterton describes just how vastly different these two friars were, while also remarking on how
similar they were at the very same time. Thomas was a man of reason and logic, whereas Francis was
a man of the wild and nature. Francis naturalism led him to the conversion of many non Christians, as
he believed that widespread Christianity is the main focus of the religion, whereas Aquinas, the dumb
ox, believed that we must first discover Christianity ourselves before spreading it across the earth.
Aquinas is described by Chesterton as being a dunce ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Francis used Nature much as St. Thomas used Aristotle; and to some they seemed to be using a Pagan
goddess and a Pagan sage, (Chesterton 29)showing just how different the two ideologies or methods
of the two friars are. Due to these differences in ideologies, different eras have taken likings to the two
different friars respectively. Chesterton himself describes that, Therefore it is the paradox of history
that each generation is converted by the saint who contradicts it the most, (Chesterton 24) showing
that each and every generation takes a liking to their own respective philosopher. In the case of Assisi
and Aquinas, Assisi took hold in the 19th century full of imperialism, and Aquinas has taken hold in
the 20th century, wherein we seek reason as we have begun to divulge from reason. This search for a
proper philosopher in order to fulfill ones needs is common place for society, wherein we constantly
want to grow or change who we are, and ultimately the popularity of philosophers is influenced by
their methods. As stated previously, both Aquinas and Assisi used very different and often seemingly
heretical ideas of Nature and Aristotle, Chesterton even described them as Pagan goddess and a Pagan

Today, the extraction of natural resources takes on many different forms. Mountaintop removal (MTR)
is one approach applied in the Appalachian region of the United States for the extraction of the
resource coal. MTR approaches the coal from the top of the mountain by blasting away the layers of
rock above the coal seams and scraping away the layers of coal. This process leaves behind effects to
the surrounding environment including flooding, contamination to water and air, health impacts, and
ecological impacts. In response to these effects the community members most affected have taken it
upon themselves to raise their voices in protest. This form of environmental justice challenges the
existing legal permits and policies by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The suit against the coal company became known as Ohio Valley Environmental Coalition v. Aracoma
Coal Company. This lawsuit involved four permits issued by the United States Army Corps of
Engineers, allowing for certain mountaintop mining processes at four mining sites in West Virginia.
OVEC alleged that the Corps violated the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) by failing to
adequately assess the environmental impact of the valley fills, by improperly limiting the scope of the
environmental assessment, and by ignoring evidence regarding the cumulative effects of valley fills on
the environment (Clark, 2008, p. 146). Much to the surprise of these coalition groups on March 2007,
the district court found in favor of OVEC and held that the Corps failed to comply with the CWA and
NEPA when it issued the four permits. The court further noted that a CWA Section 404 permit may not
be issued if the Corps fails to comply with its own guidelines and with NEPA when making a finding
of no significant impact. The court remanded the permits to the Corps for further consideration in light
of its findings. The court also rescinded the four permits, enjoining the Corps and Intervenors from
taking any action under the challenged permits. On appeal, the Fourth Circuit reversed the district
court s order and held that the Corps did not violate the CWA or NEPA in

Louise Erdrich s Love Medicine
Although I ve only read the first couple chapters of Louise Erdrich s novel Love Medicine, I have
already realized that I am going to like this book. My only dislike thus far is that her detailed and
figurative writing style can cause confusion at times, for example when she switches from character to
character or includes various names every other paragraph. I find myself at times having to read
certain lines again so I can actually understand what is going on or who is speaking. Also, in chapter
two there are many characters, which can make it somewhat difficult to know and remember who is
who within the storyline. Although at times her choice of words or the plot can confuse me, I took an

How The Kinkajou Is A Relative Of The Raccoon And Lives
The kinkajou is a relative of the raccoon and lives in tropical forests or Central and South America
(National Geographic). They have thick and wooly honey brown fur, elongated bodies with short legs,
and rounded head and ears, large eyes and a small muzzle (Animal Diversity Web). The male
kinkajous are larger. Color morphs have been observed in different regions (Animal Diversity Web).
Their tails are like another arm, it helps them balance and use their tail to hang from trees and as cozy
blankets. Kinkajous are seventeen to twenty two inches from head to body and sixteen to twenty two
inches from the tail, they weigh from three to seven pounds (National Geographic). Feet and hands are
clawed and they have bare skin on the bottoms they also turn backwards, which helps them climb up
trees. The pelvis and the head turn 180 degrees, they have an extremely flexible spinal cord (Animal
Diversity Web). Also called honey bears because they raid bee s nests. By using their long tongue to
slurp out honey from the hive they even remove termites from their nests. Usually they eat fruit and
some small mammals (National Geographic). Kinkajous are a nocturnal animal, which means they
sleep during the day, usually sleeping with their home group members up in trees. Kinkajous rarely
move on the ground they mainly stay in trees (The Animal Files). At dusk, members spend time
grooming and socializing before separating to eat (Animal Diversity Web). This animal is rarely ever

Why Is High School Football Dangerous
High school football be one of the more dangerous sports, but it also has a great impact on the players
and the society around it. High school football creates a sense of community and love for the sport,
gives the players traits that they may need for the rest of their lives, and even though it is still
dangerous, it has made tremendous success saftey wise from when the sport was first introduced. High
school football has a good effect on it s team and the people involved.
One of the main reasons why football is as big as it is today is because of the love and passion for the
sport and the community it brings with it. All kinds of people love high school football; coaches,

Studies show that because of the way some football players tackle, which is going in with the head
instead of the shoulder, that concessions are very common. Injuries are also very common in this
particular sport because of the general toughness and tackling in the game. But studies to help prevent
these injuries and concessions have had much success since football first started. The OHSAA (Ohio
High School Athletic Association) has a committee that has been looking at the possibility of playing
eight man football which would help decrease the risk of injuries during the game. This is already
offered in 18 states. Other options are being taken down from the NFL to high school. An example of
one of these options is banning crown of the helmet hits. Birk coached a freshmen team during the
first season this rule was created. He explains that he saw how difficult it was to adapt to these new
rules at first but over eventually they started to get used to it. By the end of that season you could
literally see players trying the pull back, and that was amazing, Birk states at the end of his

Simpsons Family Therapy Essay
Family Referral Today I received a referral from a family who is seeking help regarding their
dysfunctional family structure. The Simpson s are a nuclear family that is having difficulties living as
a family. I have already spoken to Marge Simpson and agreed to find a way to get her husband and
children to therapy. She has very high aspirations of attending therapy with her family because she has
longed for a normal functioning family in which her husband and children interact in a much healthier
manner than they do now. She described her husband of being careless, her son uncontrollable ate
times, and her daughters disconnected from the family. We have set up the meeting for next week,
Wednesday at six, when she believed her family ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For this particular session Marge sat with her baby in the couch, her son sat as far away from the
family as he could, her other daughter also sat on the couch but not close to Marge or the baby, and
her husband sat on the recliner way from her family as well. I tried to break the tension that I felt in
the room by asking the family how they were doing but I only got an answer from Marge and a smile
from her older daughter, Dad and son didn t seem to want to take part. I then asked each one to
introduce them selves. The first one to speak up was Marge; she introduced herself and her baby
Maggie who is one. I could tell that Marge was nervous about therapy and her baby was just being a
baby. The next one to speak up was Lisa, Lisa seemed shy but was very polite as oppose to Homer her
dad and Bart. Both Homer and Bart seemed to resemble each other; they were careless and bored
about being in therapy. During the first session boundaries and ground rules were set. In this session
my goal was to get to know the whole family and learn about each of their concerns and what they
each wanted to gain from therapy. I went around the room and asked each one to describe how each
one viewed their family structure as a whole. I let Marge begin since she seemed to be the most eager
one in starting family therapy. Her main concerns were having her husband s support, her son s

Definition Essay On Underdogs
At first I didn t quit understand the meaning of an underdog . Without reading and asking for the
definition I really believed that this word was a term use to define some kind of a bad day at work
(dog s day). After reading the definition on Wikipedia I truly understood that I was wrong.
An underdog, as defined by Wikipedia is : a person or group in a competition, usually in sports and
creative works, who is popularly expected to lose. The party, team, or individual expected to win is
called the favorite or top dog. In the case where an underdog wins, the outcome is anupset. An
underdog bet is a bet on the underdog or outsider for which the odds are generally higher.

Jason, with a mental disability overcame the odds by showing that being different as not an illness.
With less experience than Seabiscuits and Red, Jason showed his teammate that he could play
basketball has well as all of them. Being an assistant manager who had never played a game during
the year, he was introduced at the last few minutes of the last game and became a hero at that moment
but he showed everybody that he could play by scoring more points than everybody during the whole
game.
He was an underdog because no one believed he could play basketball and he proved everybody
wrong. He believed in himself and lived the present moment.
I ve never really seen myself as an underdog but being the only girl in a family of four kids I think it
makes me one. Since I have three brothers, we often do boys activities. They are very competitive and
often thinks that I can t be better then them. But a lot of times I win because I m stronger then they are
and I also have to prove them that I can play with them. So, like Seabicuits, Red and Jason, I m not
suppose to win against my brothers but more often then not I do...so I m an underdog and very proud
of it.
In conclusion I truly believe that there is an underdog in every one of us, you just have to believe in
yourself and you will find a way to impress and surpass

Short Essay On Robert Moses
Immediately after the Second World War, Robert Moses power increased exponentially. He then, got a
control over city s housing authority. Huge amount of money was spent by the federal government on
the public housing and low income housing. This money was spent in New York at the command of
Robert Moses. Up to that point Moses had been building mostly parks and bridges, now, he was going
to build inside the city. No one could have predicted the magnitude of explosion that would overtake
New York. Moses demanded to be the construction co ordinater. The construction co ordinater has to
represent the city in all its dealing with federal government. And therefore, he got a control over
public housing and federal money. In the end of the year 1948, ... Show more content on

After the war, every one realized the need of good arterial routes through the cities. Soon after that,
Moses planned to ram six expressways right across the heart of New York. Amongst all the federal
projects under his control, none of them had more devastating consequences for the city and its
people. The Cross Bronx expressway of 225 foot wide concrete and 7 miles long destructed the city in
such a way that New Yorkers would never forget. This expressway crossed around 12 to 15 different
neighbourhoods and was built in a straight line without thinking that who are the people living in these
neighbourhoods. People here worked, capped up their properties, and did business where they lived. It
was culturally and materially self sufficient world. People were forced to evacuate their homes within
ninety days. One after another, Robert Moses rammed one expressway after another upending the
lives of more than a quarter of a million people. In 1962 Jane Jacobs, a resident of the town became
the chairman of the Joint Committee to Stop the Lower Manhattan Expressway, in reaction to Moses
plans to build a highway through Manhattan s Washington Square Park and West Village. Her efforts
to stop the expressway led to her arrest during a demonstration in 1968, and the campaign is often
considered one of the turning points in the development of New York City. Moses had previously

Compare And Contrast The Renaissance Art And Paintings
When looking at the paintings that were created throughout the Renaissance art period, there are
multiple paintings that depict religious stories. The best of these paintings has Jesus depicted within
them. The majority of these paintings were created by those who had a large impact on the art world
today. One of the most famous paintings that reveals religion within it is The Last Supper by Leonardo
da Vinci, which is similarly to The Wedding at Cana by Paolo Veronese. When analyzing these two
pieces of artwork, they are often confused for the other due to the fact that they are both based on
biblical stories as well as how they are organized. There have been multiple discussions about which
painting has more impact based on their physical effect. Based on the color and imagery depicted in
the painting, The Wedding at Cana, it is one of the most influential and inspiring stories ever told in a
religious painting.
The painting, The Wedding at Cana, was created in the year 1563 which was a mixed time between
two art periods. This was during the end of the Renaissance art period and right in the middle of the
Mannerism art period. The Renaissance was the most famous art period in which some of the most
influential pieces of work were created. The Renaissance is the time when artists were coming out of
the middle ages and were able to put more creativity within their art work. Cultures had mixed with
one another and this was shown in the work that was produced by the

develop gingivitis and periodontitis, you begin to lose gum tissue and bone. Ultimately, you could lose
all of your teeth if the issue is not treated. This is not a condition to take lightly at any level.
What many people do not realize is that plaque and gum disease can also affect other areas of your
health. This is why it is critical to visit your dental clinic in Edmonton for exams and cleanings. Your

They have not yet determined the exact cause and effect. However, they have identified various links
between these conditions and symptoms and other health conditions.
Health Dangers: The other health conditions linked to gum disease and plaque include heart disease,
dementia, and diabetes. Additional associated health risks are rheumatoid arthritis and premature birth.
How It Happens: Although scientists are still researching the topic, it appears that the problem begins
with harmful bacteria present in the mouth. The bacteria escape into the bloodstream, where they are
transported to internal organs. That is where other very serious health problems may begin to develop.
Inflammation: One link between all of these health issues and poor oral health might be inflammation.
Inflammation manifests as a result of periodontitis. Inflammation is also associated with such
conditions as rheumatoid arthritis and heart disease.
Diabetes: Another point worth noting is that diabetes could be a precursor to gum disease. People who
have diabetes are at a higher risk of developing infections. Gum disease is an infection, which may

The Pre-Classical Er Hatha Yoga

Yoga is over ten thousand years old. The old sacred text, Rig Verda, is the oldest scripture that yoga
has been found in. The Upanishads took the idea of ritual sacrifice from the Verdas, however they
internalized it; this meaning to sacrifice the ego through self knowledge. In the post classical era yoga
masters abandoned the ancient Verdas and embraced a new style that involved cleansing the mind and
body; breaking the bond of our physical existence. This type of yoga is primarily thought of as Hatha

Interview Evaluation
Evaluation of Personal Experiences with Interviews
As an interviewee or a client in psychotherapy I have noticed several things that helped me to feel
more comfortable and some that made me feel reserved. One of the things that I found beneficial was
an intake assessment questionnaire about my current life and prior history, which allowed me to
choose the degree of transparency that I was comfortable with. Disclosing certain information was, in
a way, my permission for my therapist to talk about it much sooner in therapy, than waiting for it to
eventually come out. I also appreciated the matter of fact demeanor of my therapist when discussing
my experiences because it allowed me to think that they were commonplace and she has dealt with

I struggled with keeping clients on point when they just wanted to talk about other topics, because I
could see how valuable it was for them to share their struggles. These check ups felt impersonal and I
felt that I was not providing them with what they needed. I realized that counseling was not my job,
but I felt that there was a certain disconnect in this process. To tackle this problem I found it a bit more
helpful to inform the client that first we are going to go over a standard questionnaire and then in the
remaining time I would answer any questions or talk about a topic of their choosing. I also went into
the common area to find my clients instead of having them wait by the door, which allowed for a few
extra minutes for informal rapport building. I realized that the homeless clients in the shelter do not
have expectations of psychotherapy, however, I felt that these interviews were one sided; they
provided the agency with information and had no value for the client. I would have changed that by
spending remaining time talking about referrals, available community resources, or anything that
could have been potentially beneficial for the client. I would also assign one volunteer for these
interviews to allow the best ongoing rapport building experience.
The context and the environment often impact the interview. In a comfortable office of a therapist I
felt open to talking about personal things, yet in the midst of strong emotions I felt invalidated by a
therapist who has chosen a formal style of an interview. In a homeless shelter, I have managed to
make some clients feel more comfortable than others, but the fact that this process was an unbeneficial
formality was always apparent to both

Symptoms And Treatment Of Cerebral Palsy
Words like incurable, permanent, handicap, and special needs may make cerebral palsy seem like
some big, scary disease, but with modern treatments and surgeries, the disorder can be made
extremely manageable. Cerebral palsy is a blanket term for impaired or loss of motor function due to
damage to an immature brain (Cerebral Palsy). The injury must occur before, during, or immediately
after birth to be considered cerebral palsy. Evidence suggests that most of the damage occurs during
prenatal development (Bunch 33). Cerebral palsy causing injuries can only happen to immature brains
(Bunch 32).
While every case of cerebral palsy is unique, some common causes are the prenatal disturbance of
brain cell migration, which is where genetic and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cerebral palsy can also cause pain, discomfort, emotional distress, increased dependency, and
decreased independence. Cerebral palsy also affects body movement, reflexes, posture, balance, and
muscle control, tone, and coordination. The disease can impact fine motor skills, gross motor skills,
and oral motor functioning (Cerebral Palsy). Children with cerebral palsy may be slow in learning to
walk or talk (Bunch 34). Because of all of this, people with cerebral palsy have trouble with speaking,
eating, moving, learning, and controlling eye movements (Eurostemcell).
One of the most common side effects of cerebral palsy is spasticity. Spasticity causes increased muscle
tone and tension. Some effects of spasticity are inhibition of movement, muscle growth, and protein
synthesis, limited stretching of muscles in daily activities, muscle and joint deformities (Cerebral
Palsy). If left alone, severe spasticity can lead to permanently stiff muscles (Bunch 32).
Approximately 80 out of 100 patients with cerebral palsy have varying degrees of spasticity (Center).
While there is currently no cure for cerebral palsy, a wide variety of treatments are available (Cerebral
Palsy). The goal when treating cerebral palsy is to minimize effects of the disability, not eliminate
symptoms altogether, as that is currently not a possible option (Bunch 32). Most cases can be managed

Postman s Theory Of Identity Theft Essay
One of Postman s theories was based on technological change as a trade off. According to this theory,
Postman believed that there were advantages and disadvantages to every new technology introduced.
There is an imbalance on whether a user s enthusiasm to share news outweigh their privacy values.
Gross and Acquisti s proposition to information sharing states that, users may be pragmatically
publishing personal information because the benefits they expect from public disclosure surpass its
perceived costs (10). To those who have become victims of identity theft through social media, the
disadvantages might be more obvious than to the general public. Social networks pressurize users for
information that consequently causes users to disregard privacy moralities. Further disadvantages
discovered by Social Networking ProCon include government intrusions, decreasing employee
productivity, promoting crimes, and facilitating cyberbullying.
Not all users on social networks will become victims of identity theft, but the statistics are alarming.
Even with 54% of social media profiles targeted for identity theft, 93% of user s still share relevant
information such as their full names and those of families. How social media identity theft typically

The vast majority of species exposed to a new habitat do not reproduce successfully. Occasionally,

Essay on Marriage in Pamela and Fanny Hill
Marriage is the only available and acceptable option for the eighteenth century heroine . Is this true?
Class and gender chiefly governed British society in the eighteenth century and the opportunities for a
woman to achieve social and financial security were scarce. In this society men of the upper class
governed the female identity. This patriarchal climate stipulated that, a respectable woman was
nothing but the potential mother of children (Blease 7). In the context of eighteenth century British
society, this prescribed duty implied marriage first and was shortly followed by procreation and duties
relating to family life. Although marriage and maternity provided the only socially acceptable path for
women during this time, some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pamela equates being kept mistress to slavery and confides in her parents claiming that she would
rather be obliged to wear rags, and live upon rye bread and water, as I used to do, than to be a harlot to
the greatest man in the world (Richardson). As a lower class servant girl, becoming a mistress to a
powerful aristocratic gentleman had the potential to invite [Pamela s] ruin (Richardson). Thus, the
only options available to Pamela that would not guarantee her ruin were to cling to her virtue or
solidify her position through marriage.
While Pamela s upstanding virtue provides the model behaviour for young ladies of the time, Cleland
s heroine sustains herself through the socially unacceptable act of prostitution. Although Fanny Hill is
a pornographic novel intended to arouse its male readership, Cleland s text is essentially anti Pamelist
in its account of Fanny s life. Richardson offers his heroine multiple opportunities to flee the
unwelcome advances of Mr B from Mr William s proposal of marriage to Mr B s offer to take Pamela
as his mistress, both of which she refuses. Fanny, on the other hand, is forced out of poverty into the
line of sex work. She relinquishes her hold on virtue, telling the reader that

The Merchant Of Venice As A Tragedy
The Merchant of Venice, written by Shakespeare, is a complicated play that has controversy themes.
There are some analysts that argue this play is a comedy. On the other hand, other analysts will argue
the opposite, and see the play as a tragedy. Both of these themes have strong arguments and can be
supported with many examples throughout the play.
Despite the fact that The Merchant of Venice has characteristics of a comedy, it is also considered a
great tragedy because of the terrible way Jews are treated and looked upon by the Christians, Shylock
s refusal to show mercy to Antonio which ultimately leads to his own downfall, and the lack of
seriousness when it comes to the relationship of love between the characters. The first example of a
tragedy is the way the Christians treat the Jewish people. Shylock recalls the many times Antonio has
treated him badly. He states, Signor Antonio, many a time and oft In the Rialto you have rated me
about my moneys and my usances. Still I have borne it with a patient shrug. You call me misbeliever,
cutthroat dog, and spet upon my Jewish gaberdine (1.3 116 122). Shylock recalls many times Antonio
refused to show him kindness, and now Antonio needs a favor from him, Shylock is not eager to show
him kindness. Also Lacelet tell Jessica that because her father was a Jew, she will be damned. Lancelet

  • 2. Green Forest Is Easy On The Eye Green forest is easy on the eye, it breaks the harshness of roads and buildings and adds interest to farmland and mountain slopes. In its sanctuary birdsong and air currents play with your auditory senses and aroma s of nectar, decayed logs and leaves fill the air. After a long absence from New Zealand, I decided to reacquaint myself with the types of forests found in the Land of the Long White cloud. In this article, I have based the forest communities on the categories from The New Zealand Plant Conservation Network: Beech Forest, Podocarp/broadleaf and Kauri Podocarp/broadleaf. An introduction New Zealand is in a temperate zone, located between the Antarctic Circle and the Tropic of Capricorn. It is also in the path of the roaring forties, a strong westerly wind circling the globe, between the latitudes of forty and fifty degrees. Etched by fiords, mountain ranges, volcanoes, plains, plateaus and just over 15,000 kilometres of coastline, it shapes a diverse landscape. Over time, plants have evolved and adapted to this landscape and climate. Today there are 2,418 native species of forest plants, which includes ferns and grasses. Native mosses, liverworts, hornworts and lichens make up approximately another 3,480 plants. Most plants are evergreen with about (still counting) 28 deciduous species. Beech Forest I like how a montane beech forest defines a distinct line across mountain slopes and the excitement you feel when you emerge into the alpine zone . Found on hilly ... • 4. The Political Influence of Women Women Exert Significant Political Influence Women have never been able to exert any significant political influence: discuss with reference to any one period of History that you have studied. Throughout history women are often seen as subservient to men. This has led to the belief that they do not have any kind of significant political influence. Based upon historical information, it is clear that these views are simply untrue. This is because women have made a noteworthy contribution at certain periods in time. A good example of this can be seen by looking no further than Catherine the Great of Russia. She ruled the country from 1762 to 1796. During this time, she was able to introduce major transformations that helped to modernize the nation. A few of the most notable include: improvements in arts / culture, education, foreign affairs and banking / finance. The combination of these factors changed the country and allowed it to become a world power. (Alexander 1995) (Del Testa 2001) (Hyland 2003) (Streeter 2007) In the area of arts / culture, she encouraged many people to be creative and share their ideas (based upon Western influences). This led to a Renaissance in literature, music and sculpting and painting. At the same time, she created different museums and academies that supported these views. This would have a positive influence on Russia by leading to the exploration of liberal philosophies. Over the course of time, this brought the country closer to Europe ... • 5. Nationalism Source Assimilation Eric Cope Analysis Nationalism Source Interpretation Eric Cope The author of source I is stating the thought that if you accomplish something and no one knows about it it will be forgotten completely. Stories, songs, etc leave behind a legacy. An entity to remember something that has passed. The same goes for nations, before the writing and the internet the only way to pass on a record was with a story. If no one was told about the occurrence it would fade off into nothingness. Whereas if told with a story even after you passed you could be remembered, leaving behind a legacy. The tales we weave and share connect us as a people allowing things about us to live longer than we do. This is heavily true when it comes to nations, many of their stories are known all throughout the people. Such as Canada and Terry Fox. Terry passed in 1981 but is cause still lives on, masses of Canadians know who Terry is and what he accomplished. Allowing his legacy to echo far after he passed. He has become a symbol of Canada and it s nationalism. The author is saying that if no one told each other about Terry his legacy would have faded to unimportance. Source II is discussing about how interconnected religion and nationalism. The author states that no matter how absurd and degrading a belief is it still connects people. Creating groups and alliances between people who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 6. The Influence Of The Monster In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein What indeed makes one a monster? Is it our physical appearance, our direct or indirect actions, our secrets? In Frankenstein, Mary Shelley portrays Victor s creation as a monster but throughout the novel we begin to realize the real monster is Victor, due to his self centered personality, his abnormal view on life, and the abandonment of his creation to show us society s perspective on what a monster is, is inaccurate because the social norm can be just as monstrous. Victor s selfishness is one of the several characteristics that makes him a monster in this novel. Many casualties in the book were due to Victor even if he was not the actual killer. When the creature murdered William, Victor still kept his creation a secret. Justine was blamed for the murder and even when she falsely confessed to being guilty he still did not speak a word about his invention. The reason that was holding him back from revealing what he had made was he did not want to look like a fool. This is shown when he says A thousand times rather would I have confessed myself guilty of the of the crime ascribed to Justine, but I was absent when it was committed, and such a declaration would have been as the ravings of a madman... (Shelley 83). Another example of Victor s narcissistic personality is how he used Elizabeth and their wedding just to lure in the creature. Victor s plan was to give the creature what he wanted which was a wedding, and when he was close enough, he would shoot him. We ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. The Influence Of The March On Washington William P. Jones s The March on Washington begins by highlighting A. Philip Randolph, a black labor unionist and civil rights advocate, who attempted to organize a March on Washington in 1941. Although Randolph s original march failed to come to fruition, the novel depicts the proceedings as a prerequisite to the 1963 march. Depicting Randolph as a central figure to the March on Washington Movement, the novel tells the story of the events leading up to and through the March on Washington that took place on August 28, 1963. Although the majority of the focus of The March on Washington revolves around the actions of A. Philip Randolph and his mostly male peripheral contacts before the march, I argue that the capacity and framework of the foundations of the 1963 March on Washington were substantially influenced by the actions of prominent black female leaders. The March on Washington of 1941 s was a response to President Roosevelt s inability to address the problems associated with discrimination and segregation in the labor sectors of federally funded defense industries and in every sector of the military (26, 27, and 30). A. Philip Randolph originally predicted that 10,00 people would attend the march, but as the march approached the numbers increased from 10,00 to 50,00 to 100,00 Negro laborers, domestics, mechanics, professionals would arrive at the Capital for the march (Jones, 37). Why did Randolph expect such an increase in numbers, and where did he think these people would come from? It is likely that Randolph s confidence stemmed from the recognition that his movement was informally backed due to pressure from Jeanetta Welch on Mary McLeod Bethune, the president of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) by the NCNW (Jones, 34). As Randolph s most prominent backer, the NCNW consisted of a network of women s clubs and sororities, like Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA), who sent an avalanche of more than 3000 letters, telegrams and long distance telephone calls to white house officials, whose entire membership exceeded 800,000 (Jones, 34). Without the support of NCNW Randolph wouldn t have had the capacity needed to intimidate the nation s president with the possibility of 100,000 mass marchers. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

And knowing what treacherous effects the nuclear weapons had, both countries used that to each his advantage to scare each other. After constantly increasing their numbers of missiles being made, both the U.S and Russia had enough missiles to destroy themselves and the world over and over again. Also in 1960, the U2 incident occurred. The U2 incident gets its name from the U2 spy plane. The U.S would use the spy planes to monitor the Soviet Union. But because of the development of spy satellites, the planes didn t need to be used because the satellites provided more information. Because of these technological advancements, both superpowers were confident that they had the capability to destroy one another with a nuclear attack and also to monitor one another. At that point in time, the Soviet Union and the U.S knew that they could destroy each other and were worried about the fact, so they held each other hostage instead. Instead of doing so, they kiss and continue spying the neighbour, exactly as Kale wanted. By means of identification with Kale, through participation in his power, the spectator can indirectly possess her too. Another notable fact about the dominance over Ashley is the fact that she is framed a lot of times within the screenshots, making her limited (see annex 2). The paradox of phallocentrism in all its manifestations is that it depends on the image of the castrated woman to give order and meaning to its world. The aim of this study was to functionally characterize receptors for Amylin and Salmon Calcitonin in the spinal cord of rats. We assessed the expression of c fos in response to intraplantar formalin in the lumbar regions of spinal cord in conscious rats. Methods: Amylin (0.05nmoles) or Salmon Calcitonin (0.005nmoles) were administrated intrathecally) 10 min before the start of formalin test. Antagonists were injected intrathecally 10min before the administration of either of the peptides. Results: Two hours after formalin stimulation, rats pretreated intrathecally by either Amylin or Salmon Calcitonin showed lower numbers of c Fos immunoreactive nuclei in their lumbar spinal cord as compared to rats pretreated by saline. These effects were reversed upon co administration of either of the Amylin antagonists AC187 or rat amylin8 37, but not rat α CGRP8 37. Few cells with c Fos immunreactivity were found in the lumbar spinal cord of rats two hours after i.t. injection of saline, Amylin and/or Salmon Calcitonin. However, Fos like immunoreactivity was increased in the lumbar spinal cord two hours after i.t. treatment of either of the antagonists AC187 and rat amylin8 37when compared to saline treated rats. People were forced to evacuate their homes within ninety days. One after another, Robert Moses rammed one expressway after another upending the lives of more than a quarter of a million people. In 1962 Jane Jacobs, a resident of the town became the chairman of the Joint Committee to Stop the Lower Manhattan Expressway, in reaction to Moses plans to build a highway through Manhattan s Washington Square Park and West Village. Compare And Contrast The Renaissance Art And Paintings When looking at the paintings that were created throughout the Renaissance art period, there are multiple paintings that depict religious stories. The best of these paintings has Jesus depicted within them. The majority of these paintings were created by those who had a large impact on the art world today. One of the most famous paintings that reveals religion within it is The Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci, which is similarly to The Wedding at Cana by Paolo Veronese. When analyzing these two pieces of artwork, they are often confused for the other due to the fact that they are both based on biblical stories as well as how they are organized. There have been multiple discussions about which painting has more impact based on their physical effect. Based on the color and imagery depicted in the painting, The Wedding at Cana, it is one of the most influential and inspiring stories ever told in a religious painting. The painting, The Wedding at Cana, was created in the year 1563 which was a mixed time between two art periods. This was during the end of the Renaissance art period and right in the middle of the Mannerism art period. The Renaissance was the most famous art period in which some of the most influential pieces of work were created. Health Dangers: The other health conditions linked to gum disease and plaque include heart disease, dementia, and diabetes. Additional associated health risks are rheumatoid arthritis and premature birth. How It Happens: Although scientists are still researching the topic, it appears that the problem begins with harmful bacteria present in the mouth. The bacteria escape into the bloodstream, where they are transported to internal organs. That is where other very serious health problems may begin to develop. The Pre-Classical Er Hatha Yoga Yoga emerged over five thousand years ago, known as the pre classical era, and is believed to be developed by the Indus Sarasvati civilization in Northern India; although some researchers believe Yoga is over ten thousand years old. The old sacred text, Rig Verda, is the oldest scripture that yoga has been found in. The Upanishads took the idea of ritual sacrifice from the Verdas, however they internalized it; this meaning to sacrifice the ego through self knowledge. In the post classical era yoga masters abandoned the ancient Verdas and embraced a new style that involved cleansing the mind and body; breaking the bond of our physical existence. Interview Evaluation Evaluation of Personal Experiences with Interviews As an interviewee or a client in psychotherapy I have noticed several things that helped me to feel more comfortable and some that made me feel reserved. One of the things that I found beneficial was an intake assessment questionnaire about my current life and prior history, which allowed me to choose the degree of transparency that I was comfortable with. Disclosing certain information was, in a way, my permission for my therapist to talk about it much sooner in therapy, than waiting for it to eventually come out. I struggled with keeping clients on point when they just wanted to talk about other topics, because I could see how valuable it was for them to share their struggles. These check ups felt impersonal and I felt that I was not providing them with what they needed. I realized that counseling was not my job, but I felt that there was a certain disconnect in this process. To tackle this problem I found it a bit more helpful to inform the client that first we are going to go over a standard questionnaire and then in the remaining time I would answer any questions or talk about a topic of their choosing. I also went into the common area to find my clients instead of having them wait by the door, which allowed for a few extra minutes for informal rapport building. I realized that the homeless clients in the shelter do not have expectations of psychotherapy, however, I felt that these interviews were one sided; they provided the agency with information and had no value for the client. I would have changed that by spending remaining time talking about referrals, available community resources, or anything that could have been potentially beneficial for the client. I would also assign one volunteer for these interviews to allow the best ongoing rapport building experience. The context and the environment often impact the interview. In a comfortable office of a therapist I felt open to talking about personal things, yet in the midst of strong emotions I felt invalidated by a therapist who has chosen a formal style of an interview. In a homeless shelter, I have managed to make some clients feel more comfortable than others, but the fact that this process was an unbeneficial formality was always apparent to both ... Symptoms And Treatment Of Cerebral Palsy Words like incurable, permanent, handicap, and special needs may make cerebral palsy seem like some big, scary disease, but with modern treatments and surgeries, the disorder can be made extremely manageable. Cerebral palsy is a blanket term for impaired or loss of motor function due to damage to an immature brain (Cerebral Palsy). Cerebral palsy also affects body movement, reflexes, posture, balance, and muscle control, tone, and coordination. Because of all of this, people with cerebral palsy have trouble with speaking, eating, moving, learning, and controlling eye movements (Eurostemcell). One of the most common side effects of cerebral palsy is spasticity. Spasticity causes increased muscle tone and tension. Some effects of spasticity are inhibition of movement, muscle growth, and protein synthesis, limited stretching of muscles in daily activities, muscle and joint deformities (Cerebral Palsy). If left alone, severe spasticity can lead to permanently stiff muscles (Bunch 32). Approximately 80 out of 100 patients with cerebral palsy have varying degrees of spasticity (Center). While there is currently no cure for cerebral palsy, a wide variety of treatments are available (Cerebral Palsy). The goal when treating cerebral palsy is to minimize effects of the disability, not eliminate symptoms altogether, as that is currently not a possible option (Bunch 32). • 33. Postman s Theory Of Identity Theft Essay One of Postman s theories was based on technological change as a trade off. According to this theory, Postman believed that there were advantages and disadvantages to every new technology introduced. There is an imbalance on whether a user s enthusiasm to share news outweigh their privacy values. Gross and Acquisti s proposition to information sharing states that, users may be pragmatically publishing personal information because the benefits they expect from public disclosure surpass its perceived costs (10). To those who have become victims of identity theft through social media, the disadvantages might be more obvious than to the general public. Social networks pressurize users for information that consequently causes users to disregard privacy moralities. Further disadvantages discovered by Social Networking ProCon include government intrusions, decreasing employee productivity, promoting crimes, and facilitating cyberbullying. Not all users on social networks will become victims of identity theft, but the statistics are alarming. • 35. Essay on Marriage in Pamela and Fanny Hill Marriage is the only available and acceptable option for the eighteenth century heroine . Is this true? Class and gender chiefly governed British society in the eighteenth century and the opportunities for a woman to achieve social and financial security were scarce. In this society men of the upper class governed the female identity. This patriarchal climate stipulated that, a respectable woman was nothing but the potential mother of children (Blease 7). In the context of eighteenth century British society, this prescribed duty implied marriage first and was shortly followed by procreation and duties relating to family life. Pamela equates being kept mistress to slavery and confides in her parents claiming that she would rather be obliged to wear rags, and live upon rye bread and water, as I used to do, than to be a harlot to the greatest man in the world (Richardson). As a lower class servant girl, becoming a mistress to a powerful aristocratic gentleman had the potential to invite [Pamela s] ruin (Richardson). Thus, the only options available to Pamela that would not guarantee her ruin were to cling to her virtue or solidify her position through marriage. While Pamela s upstanding virtue provides the model behaviour for young ladies of the time, Cleland s heroine sustains herself through the socially unacceptable act of prostitution. Although Fanny Hill is a pornographic novel intended to arouse its male readership, Cleland s text is essentially anti Pamelist in its account of Fanny s life. Richardson offers his heroine multiple opportunities to flee the unwelcome advances of Mr B from Mr William s proposal of marriage to Mr B s offer to take Pamela as his mistress, both of which she refuses. Fanny, on the other hand, is forced out of poverty into the line of sex work. She relinquishes her hold on virtue, telling the reader that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. The Merchant Of Venice As A Tragedy The Merchant of Venice, written by Shakespeare, is a complicated play that has controversy themes. There are some analysts that argue this play is a comedy. On the other hand, other analysts will argue the opposite, and see the play as a tragedy. Both of these themes have strong arguments and can be supported with many examples throughout the play. Despite the fact that The Merchant of Venice has characteristics of a comedy, it is also considered a great tragedy because of the terrible way Jews are treated and looked upon by the Christians, Shylock s refusal to show mercy to Antonio which ultimately leads to his own downfall, and the lack of seriousness when it comes to the relationship of love between the characters. The first example of a tragedy is the way the Christians treat the Jewish people. Shylock recalls the many times Antonio has treated him badly. He states, Signor Antonio, many a time and oft In the Rialto you have rated me about my moneys and my usances. Still I have borne it with a patient shrug. You call me misbeliever, cutthroat dog, and spet upon my Jewish gaberdine (1.3 116 122).
