Move Without Lots Of Boxes Research Paper
So, it s settled. You ve picked out one of the best apartments in Chino, California and you re ready to
move. You already envision yourself driving down the freeway, enjoying weekly farmer s market, and
making impromptu trips to LA. While the excitement of moving to Chino is understandable, it s also
important to avoid putting the cart before the horse. Proper planning is wise to experience a smooth
transition to Chino. Try some of these tips when you re preparing for the big move! Gather Supplies
What s a move without lots of boxes? Unless you have boxes stores in random areas of your home,
most people have to go purchase boxes. Before making a big purchase of boxes you ll later throw
away, visit some of the local grocery stores. Go to the customer service desk and find out their policy
regarding boxes. Grocery stores get shipments of boxes in on a weekly basis. Normally, grocery stores
workers will break down the boxes and throw them away. Ask if it s possible to get some boxes for
yourself. Most stores give them away for free. This is a great way to secure one of the most vital
supplies for a big move. Additionally, don t forget to purchase lots of heavy duty scotch or masking
tape. A heavy duty marker and labels are great for each box as well. ... Show more content on

In their frenzy to end the process, they can overlook their safety and wind up with an injury. One of
the most important things to remember when moving heavy boxes and items involves bending. Bend
the knees when picking items because this takes the pressure and strain off the back. Nothing is more
painful than pulling a muscle or throwing out your back. Practice safety by utilizing this one
precaution every time you need to pick up a heavy item. Use

Spacex s Next Rocket Launch
SpaceX s next rocket launch has been delayed for a few months, following the June 28 explosion that
destroyed an unmanned space station cargo ship to the International Space Station (ISS). Officials of
the aerospace firm said the Falcon 9 rocket would launch in a few months, after previous plans to
launch no later than September.
WHY THE DELAY?
Gwynne Shotwell, president of SpaceX, said Monday at a scientific forum in Pasadena that they are
still a couple months away from the next flight. She said they re taking more time than they originally
had thought. But I don t think any of our customers wants us to race to the cliff and fail again, she
said. The explosion that occurred in June has initiated more careful construction, delaying the next
launch. Until then, SpaceX had a flawless launch record for its Falcon 9, which had successfully
completed 17 missions since June 2010. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
SpaceX believes the likely culprit was a single, two foot long, one inch thick steel component called a

Kids should never be awarded with something when their grades are allowing their GPA to

India And Jap Rule Of Law
III. Rule of Law in India and Japan
The Rule of Law has not been compromised by the culture or socioeconomic conditions in India or
Japan. India and Japan sought to achieve Rule of Law to embody the values, institutions and
principles in a modern liberal democratic country in order to modernize and adapt. Rule of law has
two main functions, to protect its citizens and stop unequitable use of state power by remaining
transparent, and, to protect its citizens with enforcement structures. In India, Western ideals and
institutions were welcomed and successfully integrated with local culture. In Japan, transplant of rule
of law ideals only occurred post war and the transplant of western legal systems were in the course of
colonization and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
NEED EXAMPLES OF THIS
The Constitution of Japan does not have any express provisions for the Rule of Law. However, it has
insinuated in a number of Articles within the Constitution. For example, in Articles 1 to 8 the Emperor
remains as a symbol of the state and carries out functions of the state but in contrast to the Meiji
Constitution, his role is mainly ceremonial and the Emperor does not have any powers relating to the
government. This indicates that justice is intended to be administered by impartial and independent
justice institutions and kept separate from the Emperor and government bodies who are held
accountable under the law in Article 41 to 95 of the Constitution of Japan. Specifically, in Article 98,
Supreme Law implies Rule of Law upholds the accountability of government bodies and agents where
all government actions are ruled under one Constitution. Another example is the incorporation of
fundamental human rights in Article 97, which asserts the liberal doctrine of human rights and protects
individual rights and liberties.
IV. Differences between India and Japan
India and Japan are both culturally different and different socioeconomically, but both countries have
achieved Rule of Law. Some of the differences stated in Chens article about the Pathways of Western
Liberal Constitutional Developments in Asia are that the founding fathers of the Indian Constitution

The Trade And Freight Markets
2008 saw the beginning of an economic crisis which saw the failure of numerous shipping companies
and shipyards resulting in a remarkable decrease in the quantity and cost of newbuilding orders.
However, 2013 marked the beginning of a market revival following trippled orderbooks compared to
2012, from 148 m dwt (1800 ships) to 54 m dwt (842 ships), aswell as a 10 20% increase in selling
prices following an 11 year all time low. Similarly, world order book which had decreased by half in 5
years, between 2008 and 2012, increased significantly from 245 m dwt (3,766) to 272 dwt (3,589
ships) which now amounts to 18% of fleet in service compared to 17% in 2012 and 53% in 2008.
China remains by far the largest market share holder with 47% followed by Korea and Japan which
hold 28% and 15% of the market respectively and Europe owning a mere 1%. The maritime trade and
freight markets took a similar turn to recovery despite economic growth dropping to 3% in 2013 from
3.1% in 2012, far below the forecast 3.9%. Trade on the other hand continued to suffer and reached
2.7%, far below 2011 and 2012 which had 6.1 and 12.6%. There is reason for optimism however as
shown by the Baltic Dry Index which started off very low in the first quarter at 796 but rose
significantly in the second of half of the year resulting in an average of 1,198 compared to 920 in
2012. Despite falling short of the 2011 and 2010 indices of 1584 and 2758 respectively, the trend

Reflection Paper On Positionality
My positionality is composed both of cultural aspects and personal lived experiences that engender me
towards certain perspectives (Holmes, 2014), thus introducing subjectivity in my research. As such, I
must understand where my positionality is derived from to ensure that my research remains as truthful
as possible (Holmes, 20014). I must remain self conscious about my own views and positions and how
they may influence my design, execution and interpretation of the research data findings (Greenback,

Achilles the Illiad
Iliad 21.70 135 (Lykaon supplicates Achilles, Achilles kills him)
Consider Achilles response to supplication in this passage. How does this compare to his attitude in
the extracts from the Iliad in your lecture/tutorial readings?
The cruel rejection by Achilles to the supplication of Lykaon in Book 21 represents a fundamental
transformation in the attitude of Achilles. Achilles has become full of anger and self loathing
following the death of Patroclus. Achilles answers Lykaon s supplication by stating, I reject this
childish plea for mercy, and I will accept no ransom. Until Patroclus died, I often spared suppliants,
and sold them abroad; but now all Trojans I catch will die, especially all sons of King Priam! (Graves

Achilles has been tipped over the edge by the blame he feels for failing his responsibilities and
completely loses his grip on reality. Achilles no longer adheres to the moral and social standards that
were previously so important to him in his quest for personal glory. The old values Achilles held are
no longer relevant and he has lost all sense of right versus wrong. Achilles atrocious acts are symbolic
of the war raging inside his mind. In his vengeful slaying of the Trojans he is metaphorically trying to
kill himself over and over again. At this point Achilles is completely obsessed on obtaining revenge by
killing Hector and absolutely nothing will stop him achieving this aim. Achilles is now in a
psychological traumatic state of mind.
Achilles wrath reaches its pinnacle when he kills Hector, as he declares, at last I am avenged! (Graves
1960 22:317). It would now be reasonable to expect that from this moment on Achilles anger would
begin to subside with the relief of his revenge. We would rightfully expect to begin to see the return of
the old Achilles as previously told, but there is no gall in Achilleus heart, he is forgiving (Lattimore
2011 2:240) however this is most certainly not the case. Instead Achilles anger is further and even
more disturbingly demonstrated by his mutilation of Hectors body. Achilles has not found peace in his
revenge whatsoever instead he becomes more deranged than ever. The death of

The Complexity of Team Work
Introduction The complexity of teamwork is more than what Merriam Webster defines teamwork as
the work done by people who work together to do something . Teamwork involves good practices and
strategies utilized in a cohesive manner to get to a common goal. Therefore a clear definition of a team
must first be established in order to further understand the complexity of the teamwork process. A
team is a collection of two or more people with either similar or different disciplines dedicated to the
pursuit of a specific goal (Gilbert, 2004). Hence, the determinant in the level of participation from
team members for a functioning team is a joint commitment (Gilbert, 2004). The successful use of

Decision by Majority Vote/ Rule The most common methodology is decision by majority vote/rule
(Lecture Day 4, 2014). Decision by majority vote/rule differs because a sole person does not have the
final say. In majority vote/rule more than 50% of the group needs to reach a consensus in order to
finalize a decision. This methodology is most appropriate when the implementation of a decision does
not need the commitment of all members (Lecture Day 4, 2014). Many literatures support the
conclusion that majority vote/ rule, although convenient in its speed, is incompetent. Kerr and Tindale
(2004) suggest that this methodology leads to an individual bias. They continue by arguing that
decisions are put in a position of A or B, it presents the option in which decisions are solely based on
which option outweighs the other. This process minimizes discussion as team members may fall into a
majority. Miller (1985) supports this argument as he states that even if the formal rule is meant to
remain unanimous, the informal rule may be to support decisions made by the majority. Ultimately
what determines a decision by majority is the amount of information team members have in regards to
each alternative. If one option provides more details versus another that is vague, it is

Can The Subaltern Speak?
Spivak s essay Can the Subaltern Speak? is originally published in Cary Nelson and Lawrence
Grossberg s Marxist and the Interpretation of culture(1988).(3)
In this essay, Spivak encourages and motivates but at the same time, she criticizes the effort of the
subaltern studies group in establishing a voice. As a feminist, Spivak wants to give a voice for those
who used to be silent. She describes how colonists prove their well intentioned in India differentiating
between British civilization and Indian Barbarism .
In her work, she joins her disapproval of the abuse against women, non Europeans, and the poor by

William Shakespeare s Richard IIi
Women play a compelling part in the play Richard III. On one hand, they can be viewed of as
vulnerable and weak as they base their lives on the power and deeds of the men. However, their curses
appear to have a prophetic ability. In a way women are the possessions of the men who be wed with
them, nevertheless the women advance themselves with absolute emotive potency. The women
produce much of the spiritual strength behind the political activities of the play. Paying attention to the
men solely we can see that the play would for the most part be about shrewd political strategizing and
power and it is only when the women come in, do we really see the emotional actuality and the
consequences of this politically unpredictable situation. Despite the fact the women in the play are
powerless as they watch Richard s rule of terror, their prophetic curses indicate that they do maintain
some power in the play. Queen Elizabeth was the wife of King Edward IV and the mother of the two
young Princes and young Elizabeth. Prior to her marriage to King Edward, she was engaged to a man
named Sir John Gray, which is why throughout the play, Richard enjoys insulting her by making
reference to her as Lady Gray instead of Queen Elizabeth, which in return shows us as the audience
that Richard is demoting her by not calling her Queen, and although it was frowned upon for a
widower or a divorcee to take the throne or remarry, this is a fine example of the Misogyny portrayed

The Appeal of the Mystery Genre Essay
Question One: At the beginning of the semester I wrote in my personal information handout that I felt
what made the mystery genre stand apart from all other genres was its ability to keep the
reader/watcher on the edge of their seat wanting more information. That mysteries are unpredictable,
making the reader/watcher stay until the end because they must know the ending. I still feel this way,
but my understanding of this concept has certainly evolved and sharpened. First and foremost, the
concept of keeping the audience on the edge of their seat wanting more is driven by epistemic
sequencing. This concept, described by Talmy, is the idea of who knows what when and is very crucial
to the mystery genre and in keeping the audience ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He states in Chapter One, Part Four, for one thing, we know that narrative in all its forms is a dialectic
between what was expected and what came to pass. For there to be a story, something unforeseen must
happen (15). Unforeseen is the key word in this quote by Burner and is crucial to the mystery genre.
Within mystery twists and turns occur, red herrings take the audience down the wrong path, and the
audience plays detective, but for it to be a true mystery, something unforeseen must occur. This
unforeseen occurrence is what keeps the audience on the edge of their seat and coming back for more.
It is common knowledge that the detectives cannot find the murderer only 20 minutes into the episode
or 50 pages into the book and while the audience certainly enjoys being correct when the killer is
revealed, continuously being correct would ruin the allure of the genre. It is stories such as The
Murders in Rue Morgue by Edgar Allen Poe that keep the readers on their feet with the unforeseen.
When first reading Poe s story, I would have never guessed that an orangutang committed the murder
and I am sure many other readers felt the same way, which draws us into the story. Further, Stockwell
s concept of cognitive deixis also plays an important role in keeping the audience on the edge of their

The Importance Of Bilingualism On Child Development
Due to the increased migration and globalization, the shift in linguistic demographics and the advent
of multiculturalism sparked researchers interest to investigate the cognitive mechanism behind
bilingualism. Whether bilingualism has significant imprint on the development is still premature to
conclude with absolute certainty. However, with rich theoretical background, growing number of
empirical evidence supports the undeniable perk of bilingualism in various realms of cognitive
development. Despite the on going debate over the benefit of bilingualism, bilingualism became an
emerging topic among researchers and scholars like Ellen Bialystok, Stephanie Carlson, and Albert
Costa have been conducting research exploring the mechanism of bilingualism and executive
functions. After all, Vygotsky also argued that bilingualism may have positive impact on human mind
(Vygotsky, 1962). On the one hand, patterning, an ability to extract the underlying rule of a sequence
and to predict by applying the rule, is a highly endorsed and utilized skill that received relatively low
attention from researchers. Surprisingly little is known about the mechanism behind the patterning and
its cognitive impact, and yet the educators and policy makers have implemented patterning instruction
for last several decades. Patterning has not been widely studied in the field of developmental
psychology despite of the importance. Vast majority of the literature comes from mathematics

The Governing Body Of Soccer
The People s Game Soccer
Football, fĂștbol, fußball, soccer. No matter what the name, it is a sport that is played throughout the
world. The current governing body of soccer is the Fédération Internationale de Football Association
(FIFA) headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland. Just like any large cooperation, they are not without

idea of the game was created to be pure in order to have friendly competition. The concept of the
game in which is known today was established in 1863 in England. However, the origins of the game
have been scientific traced dating back to the second and third centuries in China (FIFA). In 1863, the
game that was played centuries before split into two factions; one faction continued to use their hands
and became rugby, the other became soccer. Breaking the soccer down to the basics of today; each
team is allowed to have 11 players on the field, goal keepers are the only ones allowed to use their
hands, and the objective is to get the spherical ball into the other team s goal without using their
hands. The evolution of the game has allowed soccer become the best sport in the world because it
teaches teamwork, goals, and camaraderie.

Role Of Skilful Advocation In The Merchant Of Venice
Abstract: William Shakespeare is one of the greatest dramatists in the world. In fact, all the gigantic
and romantic mileposts of literary accomplishment warble the canticles of Shakespearean glory which
was originated in the glamorous reign of Queen Elizabeth I, one of the most celebrated monarchs in
European history. Moreover, he is one of the most precious jewels in the dramatic world that is hoisted
and lighted by the prestigious playwrights of all the erudite eras. This paper, basically, highlights the
stream of skilful advocation that takes place in Shakespeare s reasonable, justifiable and defensible
play ‒ The Merchant of Venice. As a matter of fact, law, justice and legal profession often play a

Antonio s best friend and kinsman, Bassanio longs to woo the beautiful, intelligent and wealthy
heiress of Belmont ‒ Portia. Bassanio, a young Venetian of noble rank, has wasted his property, and is

According to the will, her marriage depends upon a game of three caskets which are made of gold,
silver and led. If the suitor chooses the casket having Portia s portrait, he will win Portia and if he
doesn t choose rightly, he will accept chastity.
Bassanio who desires to win the lottery, requires 3,000 ducats to travel from Venice to Belmont. He
goes to his friend and kinsman Antonio, who does not have any money to lend him at that time, diverts
Bassanio to seek another lender and he would become as a guarantor. Hence, Bassanio approaches the
Jewish moneylender, Shylock, who is Antonio s opponent as Antonio has opposed both Shylock and
his religion. Besides, Antonio has shortened his source of sustenance by providing interest free loans.

Anomie Theory
Anomie theory is important for explaining whether crime is a normal or abnormal (pathological)
social phenomenon (Cartwright, 2011). It describes a lack of social norms, lawlessness and
normlessness (Cartwright, 2013). In detail, it is a breakdown of social bonds between an individual
and the community. This theory was first coined by Emile Durkheim, a French sociologist in his book
Suicide published in 1897 (Cartwright, 2013). Later on, Robert Merton, the President of American
Sociological Association, developed the link between anomie and social structure. Unlike Durkheim,
Merton used the notion from Durkheim s anomie theory and explains that social structure could exert
pressure on an individual and directly cause deviance (Cartwright, ... Show more content on

This illegitimacy adjustment as the major concern involves two features (Merton, 1938). Firstly, such
antisocial behavior by certain conventional values of the culture and by the class structure involving
differential access to the approved opportunities for legitimate, prestige bearing pursuit of the culture
goal (Merton, 1938, p.27). Secondly, it is the consideration of equal significance. Because of the
limitation of legitimate effort, for those individuals with formal education and few economic
resources, success is hard to get (Merton, 1938). In addition, Merton declared that the theory he
studied was incomplete, since various structural elements were neglected; for example, the relevance
of cultural conflict for an analysis of culture goal and institutional means malintegration has not yet
been examined, and the social function performed by illicit responses has also been omitted (Merton,
1938, p.30). As for Steven Messner and Richard Rosenfeld (1995), their study, known as the
institutional anomie theory, focused more on how criminal behavior is affected institutionally, such as
by schools, churchs or companies. Messner and Rosenfeld declared that criminology has overly
focused on analyzing the behavior of individuals, such as mental illness, but paid less attention on
how social organization and

Dallas Mavericks Case Summary
The case The Dallas Mavericks has provided an insight on the importance of objective performance
evaluation methodology which is based on evidence based judgment and decision making . And
definitely, I believe it is worth to make as the evaluation has encapsulated relative performance
appraisal which focused on evaluating individual contribution in the team performance. Two
dignitaries, Mark Cuban and Professor of decision science, Wayne Winston meet to restructure and
reengineer the performance evaluation which has focused on scientific empirical model called
Plus/Minus index. As per (Button, 2017), the objective performance evaluation method is reliable as
well as fair. The subjective method of decision making are profoundly based ... Show more content on

In doing so he can pay half the amount less to the player who has owned 5 games in compare to those
that has owned 7 games. In financial and economic terms, owner could be efficient with his money.
The appraisal process has incorporated an integrative approach, a mechanism to scrutinize efficiency
as well as effectiveness of the player s performance. The efficiency underweights the value added by
the individual player in team performance and effectiveness evaluates the final result, i.e. overall team
performance. Hence, I utterly align with the objective performance appraisal method incorporated in
the The Dallas Mavericks , saying it has created win win situation for both the players and the owner
but I believe, nevertheless, subjective approach should not be neglected and hybrid approach. i.e.
subjective as well as objective should be used with cautions. A mix of both gives a blend of qualitative
as well as quantitative result and will help to come across the limitation of mathematical process.

Protein is the most abundant substance in the human body. Protein are nearly the component of every
cell and are often referred to as building block because of their in development and repair of bone
muscle skin and blood cells. Protein from food is broken down into amino acids by the digestive
system. Amino acids are used to build and repair muscles, for making hormones, red blood cells, hair
and other tissues. Adequate protein intake is also important for a healthy immune system. Because
protein is a source of calories, it will be used for energy. Carbohydrates can be grouped into two
categories: simple and complex. Simple carbohydrates are sugars, complex carbohydrates consist of
starch and dietary fibre. Carbohydrate provides the body with energy that used to fuel it. Since
carbohydrate is our preferred sources of fuel, our body must find another source of energy when we do
not eat enough. As a result, the body will break down stored fat in a process called ketosis. Ketosis
produces a fuel called ketones and is an important process that ensure sufficient energy is provided to
the brain. When adequate carbohydrate intake continues for an extended period of time excessive
ketone are produced resulting in acid acidic blood and a condition called ketoacidosis. Fibre is the
indigestible portion of plant foods that helps move food through the digestive system. It softens stools
by absorbing water. Fibres, also known as bulk or roughages can be found in whole

Wes Anderson Influence
Lukas Hamlescher Dr. Neuendorf COM 320 Preliminary Draft Wes Anderson is a staple in the
independent film community. He writes, directs, and produces most of his films. He takes time to
develop stories unique to him and from each other. Nonetheless, all of Anderson?s films have an
undeniable familiarity between them as he imprints his style on everything he creates. However, if he
did not have inspiration or influences for his films, his creativity and artistic flair may not have a
proper way to be displayed. His films could lack an essential essence whether in diversity of plot or
themes, etc. Perhaps without influences, Anderson would not be a filmmaker at all. Fortunate for all
fans of Anderson, he is inspired and does make films for many all over the world to enjoy. Therefore,
it is not only Anderson or any of his co workers we have to thank for his films but his inspirations as
well. This paper, will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It can also be said then that Anderson finds himself influenced by Ray not only thematically in in
terms of settings but in more in depth filmmaking tactics. For example, part of Anderson?s style is
centralized around precision of shot composition, mise en scene, and choreography of characters. This
takes focused pre planning and a dedicated thought process. Ray admits to similar pre planning and
precision in his production phase of filming. In an interview from a book entitled Satyajit Ray:

The Game By Teresa Toten
The Game is a novel written by Teresa Toten in 2001. The novel examines the affect of abuse and the
feeling of inadequacy on a young person and how they cope with it, in this case the young girl
develops a fantasy world in which she battles the evil with her sister. It also shows how a person s
mind tries to protect them from the realization of events that have happened that at the time they may
not be able to cope with. The game was invented by two young sisters, Danielle and Kelly. Danielle is
the older sister that suffers from a tumultuous relationship with her Father which includes physical and
emotional abuse. Dani takes a lot of blame for things that her sister does wrong, to protect her. She
wants to be loved and respected by her Father, just like her sister is and you find that she has
memorialized one memory where her Father was actually proud of her. There is also the realization
that there are many more memories of when he was disappointed and angry at her. Bearing in mind
that she is also taking responsibility for her sisters mistakes you can imagine a childhood filled with
misery and fear and the need for respect and love. Dani initially invents a game with her sister
representing good versus evil and as you read the book you realize that Dani s entire life is a game.
She reverts to her childhood game in her mind when facing difficult conversations and situations.

Moonlight Chiron Character Analysis
At the end of the movie Moonlight , Chiron became a better version of himself, because he started as
someone who was weak and became someone who can fend for themselves. This could be observed
by taking a comparison of Chiron in the beginning of the film where he is scared and lonely, and
Chiron near the end of the film in Act 3 where he becomes hardened by the obstacles that life had
thrown at him, and is able to reconcile with the people whom he cared about, after they had been a
part of the obstacles of his life. The fact that Chiron was able to become a new, stronger person in the
face of his adversaries is how he became a better version of themselves. Another observation could be
made in Act 2, where Chiron gets bullied by Tyrell who pressured Kevin to play the game which
involved hitting Chiron to the ground multiple times. After Chiron had experienced this, he sought out
to exact revenge by smashing a chair on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Act 3, Chiron reconciles with his mother, as well as Kevin. Before this, in Act 2, both his mother
and Kevin had become people who opposed Chiron and tore him down. Being able to reconcile with
the people who had thrown him aside shows that he would be able to see a different perspective, one
where he could see that they were pressured to do such things against him, which is an improvement
to his mentality when facing the obstacles he is presented with. When someone is a better person, then
they have faced their obstacles in life and succeeded in pushing through them. I know this because
becoming a better person is subjective, but there is always one thing that happens when someone
improves themselves, which is the fact that they are no longer in a struggle with the past, and are able
to keep themselves up with their own strength that they have improved themselves

The Civil Rights And Liberties Essay
With all that has been examined, it is somewhat troubling to see that 21st century America today is
very similar to America from the 1960 s. While it is true that Black Americans have gained civil rights
and liberties, it is the current state of American society itself as well as white fright that dismisses
these rights. The most infamous example of this is, of course, police shootings. Since the Trayvon
Martin case, the United States seems to have exploded with more police shootings in which white
police officers shoot unarmed black men. According to Mapping Police Violence, Police killed at least
102 unarmed black people in 2015, nearly twice each week (Police Violence). Indeed, America is now
like the 1950 s because while Black Americans are now free to vote, walk in public, and partake in
public programs of U.S. society, certain institutions still attempt to suppress their rights. This
attempting at suppression of Black civil rights, moreover, can be attributed to white fright. The violent
reaction to more Black Americans in the public sector schools, entertainment, politics, etc. can be said
to be a consequence of white fright. Generally speaking, white fright, may be defined as the fear of
white, working middle classmen whose liberties would be replaced by the liberties of some other. This
other, may be Black Americans, Asian Americans, immigrants, and anyone else who does not fulfill
the historical, ideological definition of white man since the Civil War

Henry Petroski Falling Down Is Part Of Growing Short Story
Falling down while growing up has been part of everyone s life before. It is usual that we face
obstacles and sometimes we lost the battle between us and the obstacles. We often interpret mistakes
as bad or as a failure, but we don t realize that mistake or failure are what helps us learn. In the short
essay named Falling Down is Part Of Growing by Henry Petroski, Petroski s uses of examples from
stages of our life successfully conveys the message that failure does not define who we are or what we
are; instead, it is a way for us to learn, to try again and finally achieve success. To begin with, the first
stage starts from the moment from when we are first introduced into this world. We face the
possibility of risks from the moment we are born. As Petroski mentions,
We are born into a world swathed in trust and risk. And we become accustomed from the instant of
birth to living with the simultaneous possibilities that there will be and that there will not be
catastrophic structural failure...Surely sometime, somewhere, a baby has been dropped, surely a doctor
has had butterfingers or a nurse a lapse of attention. But we as infants and we as parents cannot and do
not and should not dwell on those remotely possible, hideous scenarios, or we might immobilize the
human race in the delivery room (Petroski 188).
In this quote, Petroski expresses his appreciation from doctors and nurses help, but he then mentions
Surely sometime, somewhere, a baby has been dropped, surely a

Over the weekend i did the last seven hours of community service at the special olympics hosted in
hampton bays. During the event i helped out in a bunch of events. First, all of the volunteers lined up
at the tunnel and cheered each team on running through. Next me and the rest of the volunteers took
their seats for the opening ceremonies where the athletes sang the national anthem and carried out the
torch. After that i went back to my tent where i would help the athletes in different events like the
softball throw, javelin throw and tennis ball throw. All of the baseball players were assigned the same
tent while other volunteers helped out with the 100m sprints and relay races on the track. My job was
to take each athlete with a clipboard down to the place where they would throw, then record their
distance where the ball first touched the ground, and then bring the athletes to the scoring tables. After
bringing them to the table, i would return to the tent with the scoreboard and wait for the next athlete
to repeat the process. Some athletes could throw the balls 3 feet and some could throw the balls further
than some of the baseball players. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Immanuel Kant Deontology Theory
Throughout history, wars over the meaning of equality have been expressed in many ways for the
purpose of establishing one standard to the meaning of equal. Equal is being treated with the same
respect regardless of gender. The theory of deontology has defined and developed the meaning of
equal within society. However, it has been a slow process. Miscommunication and misunderstanding
to the meaning of gender equality is responsible for personal and social tyranny. Happiness, fairness,
and dignity have risen from social roles, poverty, and health reform that defined the message to the
question of what it means to be equal and unequal among men and women using the deontology
theory as this essay will demonstrate.
Deontology is an ethical theory that focus on the will of a person. It is a philosophy about how people
ought to act. Deontology is non consequentialism. People s action should not play the role in
evaluating the act of morality. Duties and obligation are the target to the will of a person. There are
two important rules in deontology. The first rule is never treat people as a means to an end in
achieving a goal because it is disrespectful. The second rule is act in the manner that maxim the action
with the intent to developing into a universal law. Immanuel Kant is a philosopher of ethics.
According to an article titled Groundwork for the Metaphysic of Morals Immanuel Kant (2008) reads,
an action that is done from duty doesn t get its moral

Officials of the aerospace firm said the Falcon 9 rocket would launch in a few months, after previous plans to launch no later than September. WHY THE DELAY? Gwynne Shotwell, president of SpaceX, said Monday at a scientific forum in Pasadena that they are still a couple months away from the next flight. India and Japan sought to achieve Rule of Law to embody the values, institutions and principles in a modern liberal democratic country in order to modernize and adapt. Rule of law has two main functions, to protect its citizens and stop unequitable use of state power by remaining transparent, and, to protect its citizens with enforcement structures. In India, Western ideals and institutions were welcomed and successfully integrated with local culture. NEED EXAMPLES OF THIS The Constitution of Japan does not have any express provisions for the Rule of Law. However, it has insinuated in a number of Articles within the Constitution. For example, in Articles 1 to 8 the Emperor remains as a symbol of the state and carries out functions of the state but in contrast to the Meiji Constitution, his role is mainly ceremonial and the Emperor does not have any powers relating to the government. This indicates that justice is intended to be administered by impartial and independent justice institutions and kept separate from the Emperor and government bodies who are held accountable under the law in Article 41 to 95 of the Constitution of Japan. Specifically, in Article 98, Supreme Law implies Rule of Law upholds the accountability of government bodies and agents where all government actions are ruled under one Constitution. Another example is the incorporation of fundamental human rights in Article 97, which asserts the liberal doctrine of human rights and protects individual rights and liberties. IV. How does this compare to his attitude in the extracts from the Iliad in your lecture/tutorial readings? The cruel rejection by Achilles to the supplication of Lykaon in Book 21 represents a fundamental transformation in the attitude of Achilles. Achilles has become full of anger and self loathing following the death of Patroclus. Achilles answers Lykaon s supplication by stating, I reject this childish plea for mercy, and I will accept no ransom. Until Patroclus died, I often spared suppliants, and sold them abroad; but now all Trojans I catch will die, especially all sons of King Priam! (Graves 1960 ... Achilles no longer adheres to the moral and social standards that were previously so important to him in his quest for personal glory. The old values Achilles held are no longer relevant and he has lost all sense of right versus wrong. Achilles atrocious acts are symbolic of the war raging inside his mind. In his vengeful slaying of the Trojans he is metaphorically trying to kill himself over and over again. At this point Achilles is completely obsessed on obtaining revenge by killing Hector and absolutely nothing will stop him achieving this aim. Achilles is now in a psychological traumatic state of mind. Achilles wrath reaches its pinnacle when he kills Hector, as he declares, at last I am avenged! (Graves 1960 22:317). It would now be reasonable to expect that from this moment on Achilles anger would begin to subside with the relief of his revenge. We would rightfully expect to begin to see the return of the old Achilles as previously told, but there is no gall in Achilleus heart, he is forgiving (Lattimore 2011 2:240) however this is most certainly not the case. Instead Achilles anger is further and even more disturbingly demonstrated by his mutilation of Hectors body. Teamwork involves good practices and strategies utilized in a cohesive manner to get to a common goal. Therefore a clear definition of a team must first be established in order to further understand the complexity of the teamwork process. A team is a collection of two or more people with either similar or different disciplines dedicated to the pursuit of a specific goal (Gilbert, 2004). Hence, the determinant in the level of participation from team members for a functioning team is a joint commitment (Gilbert, 2004). Decision by Majority Vote/ Rule The most common methodology is decision by majority vote/rule (Lecture Day 4, 2014). Decision by majority vote/rule differs because a sole person does not have the final say. In majority vote/rule more than 50% of the group needs to reach a consensus in order to finalize a decision. This methodology is most appropriate when the implementation of a decision does not need the commitment of all members (Lecture Day 4, 2014). Many literatures support the conclusion that majority vote/ rule, although convenient in its speed, is incompetent. Kerr and Tindale (2004) suggest that this methodology leads to an individual bias. They continue by arguing that decisions are put in a position of A or B, it presents the option in which decisions are solely based on which option outweighs the other. This process minimizes discussion as team members may fall into a majority. Miller (1985) supports this argument as he states that even if the formal rule is meant to remain unanimous, the informal rule may be to support decisions made by the majority. Ultimately what determines a decision by majority is the amount of information team members have in regards to each alternative. On one hand, they can be viewed of as vulnerable and weak as they base their lives on the power and deeds of the men. However, their curses appear to have a prophetic ability. In a way women are the possessions of the men who be wed with them, nevertheless the women advance themselves with absolute emotive potency. The women produce much of the spiritual strength behind the political activities of the play. Paying attention to the men solely we can see that the play would for the most part be about shrewd political strategizing and power and it is only when the women come in, do we really see the emotional actuality and the consequences of this politically unpredictable situation. Despite the fact the women in the play are powerless as they watch Richard s rule of terror, their prophetic curses indicate that they do maintain some power in the play. Queen Elizabeth was the wife of King Edward IV and the mother of the two young Princes and young Elizabeth. Prior to her marriage to King Edward, she was engaged to a man named Sir John Gray, which is why throughout the play, Richard enjoys insulting her by making reference to her as Lady Gray instead of Queen Elizabeth, which in return shows us as the audience that Richard is demoting her by not calling her Queen, and although it was frowned upon for a widower or a divorcee to take the throne or remarry, this is a fine example of the Misogyny portrayed right throughout ... • 17. The Appeal of the Mystery Genre Essay Question One: At the beginning of the semester I wrote in my personal information handout that I felt what made the mystery genre stand apart from all other genres was its ability to keep the reader/watcher on the edge of their seat wanting more information. That mysteries are unpredictable, making the reader/watcher stay until the end because they must know the ending. I still feel this way, but my understanding of this concept has certainly evolved and sharpened. First and foremost, the concept of keeping the audience on the edge of their seat wanting more is driven by epistemic sequencing. This concept, described by Talmy, is the idea of who knows what when and is very crucial to the mystery genre and in keeping the audience ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He states in Chapter One, Part Four, for one thing, we know that narrative in all its forms is a dialectic between what was expected and what came to pass. For there to be a story, something unforeseen must happen (15). Unforeseen is the key word in this quote by Burner and is crucial to the mystery genre. Within mystery twists and turns occur, red herrings take the audience down the wrong path, and the audience plays detective, but for it to be a true mystery, something unforeseen must occur. This unforeseen occurrence is what keeps the audience on the edge of their seat and coming back for more. It is common knowledge that the detectives cannot find the murderer only 20 minutes into the episode or 50 pages into the book and while the audience certainly enjoys being correct when the killer is revealed, continuously being correct would ruin the allure of the genre. It is stories such as The Murders in Rue Morgue by Edgar Allen Poe that keep the readers on their feet with the unforeseen. When first reading Poe s story, I would have never guessed that an orangutang committed the murder and I am sure many other readers felt the same way, which draws us into the story. • 19. The Importance Of Bilingualism On Child Development Due to the increased migration and globalization, the shift in linguistic demographics and the advent of multiculturalism sparked researchers interest to investigate the cognitive mechanism behind bilingualism. Whether bilingualism has significant imprint on the development is still premature to conclude with absolute certainty. However, with rich theoretical background, growing number of empirical evidence supports the undeniable perk of bilingualism in various realms of cognitive development. Despite the on going debate over the benefit of bilingualism, bilingualism became an emerging topic among researchers and scholars like Ellen Bialystok, Stephanie Carlson, and Albert Costa have been conducting research exploring the mechanism of bilingualism and executive functions. After all, Vygotsky also argued that bilingualism may have positive impact on human mind (Vygotsky, 1962). On the one hand, patterning, an ability to extract the underlying rule of a sequence and to predict by applying the rule, is a highly endorsed and utilized skill that received relatively low attention from researchers. Surprisingly little is known about the mechanism behind the patterning and its cognitive impact, and yet the educators and policy makers have implemented patterning instruction for last several decades. It describes a lack of social norms, lawlessness and normlessness (Cartwright, 2013). In detail, it is a breakdown of social bonds between an individual and the community. This theory was first coined by Emile Durkheim, a French sociologist in his book Suicide published in 1897 (Cartwright, 2013). Later on, Robert Merton, the President of American Sociological Association, developed the link between anomie and social structure. Secondly, it is the consideration of equal significance. Because of the limitation of legitimate effort, for those individuals with formal education and few economic resources, success is hard to get (Merton, 1938). In addition, Merton declared that the theory he studied was incomplete, since various structural elements were neglected; for example, the relevance of cultural conflict for an analysis of culture goal and institutional means malintegration has not yet been examined, and the social function performed by illicit responses has also been omitted (Merton, 1938, p.30). As for Steven Messner and Richard Rosenfeld (1995), their study, known as the institutional anomie theory, focused more on how criminal behavior is affected institutionally, such as by schools, churchs or companies. Messner and Rosenfeld declared that criminology has overly focused on analyzing the behavior of individuals, such as mental illness, but paid less attention on how social organization and ... • 32. The Civil Rights And Liberties Essay With all that has been examined, it is somewhat troubling to see that 21st century America today is very similar to America from the 1960 s. While it is true that Black Americans have gained civil rights and liberties, it is the current state of American society itself as well as white fright that dismisses these rights. The most infamous example of this is, of course, police shootings. Since the Trayvon Martin case, the United States seems to have exploded with more police shootings in which white police officers shoot unarmed black men. According to Mapping Police Violence, Police killed at least 102 unarmed black people in 2015, nearly twice each week (Police Violence). Indeed, America is now like the 1950 s because while Black Americans are now free to vote, walk in public, and partake in public programs of U.S. society, certain institutions still attempt to suppress their rights. This attempting at suppression of Black civil rights, moreover, can be attributed to white fright. The violent reaction to more Black Americans in the public sector schools, entertainment, politics, etc. can be said to be a consequence of white fright. Generally speaking, white fright, may be defined as the fear of white, working middle classmen whose liberties would be replaced by the liberties of some other. We often interpret mistakes as bad or as a failure, but we don t realize that mistake or failure are what helps us learn. In the short essay named Falling Down is Part Of Growing by Henry Petroski, Petroski s uses of examples from stages of our life successfully conveys the message that failure does not define who we are or what we are; instead, it is a way for us to learn, to try again and finally achieve success. To begin with, the first stage starts from the moment from when we are first introduced into this world. We face the possibility of risks from the moment we are born. As Petroski mentions, We are born into a world swathed in trust and risk. Equal is being treated with the same respect regardless of gender. The theory of deontology has defined and developed the meaning of equal within society. However, it has been a slow process. Miscommunication and misunderstanding to the meaning of gender equality is responsible for personal and social tyranny. Happiness, fairness, and dignity have risen from social roles, poverty, and health reform that defined the message to the question of what it means to be equal and unequal among men and women using the deontology theory as this essay will demonstrate.
