Elizabeth Barrett Browning s Love
Elizabeth s Love
What is Love? Love can be described as an intense emotional feeling with the ability to change
the life of the giver and the recipient of this profound emotion. Love can be described as a verb or
action. Love can be experienced in varying levels of intensity. Elizabeth Barrett Browning credits
her love for her husband as the power that headed her emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
EEB began writing at the age of twelve, but two years later, she was confined to her home due to
a chronic illness and spinal injury. Her secret relationship with Robert Browning sparked a new
motivation for life in EEB. Her love for Robert greatly influenced her budding career as a poet. Her
health and desire to live ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the first four lines, the words used to describe love are uniquely expressing powerful emotions
with no limits. Depth, breadth, and height, are 3D terms of measurements used to measure love
with completeness. These words were used to describe feelings of great magnitude; reaching
deep within, far above, and beyond the soul. The boundless limits of her love are not contained
in earthly realms, but go beyond to the outer universe. Depth, breadth, and height, are also
biblical terms used to convey the unconditional love of God. EBB makes reference to her
religion by comparing her love to the greatest love of all, the love of God. The implication of both a
physical attraction and a spiritual love, while professing as long as there is life, this perfect love
will exist.
How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. I love thee to the depth and breadth and height My
soul can reach, when feeling out of sight For the ends of Being and ideal Grace. In the next four
lines demonstrates the powerful effect love and an inability to control it. EEB is aware of these
feelings every second, minute, hour, of every day and night. Her love for Robert has consumed her
thoughts. She boldly confesses to love Robert completely regardless of the influence or

The Job Safety Law of 1970
In United States Department of Labor, in The Job Safety Law of 1970: Its Passage Was Perilous,
Judson MacLaury (1981) asserts that in 1872, in Massachusetts, the State labor bureaus reported
some industrial tragic accidents, which developed some social movements related to occupational
safety and health laws. The State labor bureau urged the state legislatures to regulate the work
environment that risked employees health. As a result, in 1877, Massachusetts was the first state
which passed the factory inspection law that required manufacturing workplaces to have some
safety standards, such as protection on elevators and fire escapes. In 1913, Congress formed the
Department of Labor in order to improve work situation and environments, such as preventing
accidents, injuries, and diseases. The Bureau of Labor Statics attempted to make unhealthy work
environment healthy. Later, in World War I, Congress created the Working Conditions Service
which inspected manufacturing plants, advice firms to reduce risks, and supported States to
develop and impose safety and health standards. During the first term of President Franklin
Roosevelt, Congress passed three laws which empowered the Federal Government to protect
employees. The Social Security Act of 1935 authorized the US Public Health Service to supply
industrial health programs that were in charge of State health departments. The Walsh Healey
Public Contracts Act of 1936 banned work contracts that completed under unsafe

Management Styles
The management culture provides the developing direction of a company. It decides the
characteristic and company culture in an enterprise. However, the style can be influenced by certain
factors, such as, policy, history background, social system, international competition. In this essay,
three management styles and two company types will be indentified and discussed.
Management style belongs to management strategy; it can be composed of operation strategy,
company culture and managers. To be specific, different management styleshave distinct
characterizations, which can be divided many particular aspects. For instances, Asian styles of
management is originated from western styles; however, Asian styles and western styles have ...

This situation can be explained by Chinese mood. Wang (2010) indicated that the cultural
background, policy and economic conditions of the country have suffered Chinese managers to
confuse the existed management styles, which requires a new way to get accustomed to modern
market. Moreover, some internal and external factors should be considered between Chinese style
and western style.
Paternalism style is used widely in Chinese state owned company. Firstly, the influence of
management style in China is competition. Obviously, as a most potential international market,
more and more western companies enter the local market, like Wal Mart. The external retail
companies including Hong Kong companies have possessed almost retail market in China. In this
circumstance, small sized private company cannot compete with magnates; only the state owned
enterprise can rely on the policy to rival magnates in this area. The reason is that western large scale
companies have developed over many years; some of them have even existed for many centuries,
such as Mercedes Benz. It has long history, 110 years, in the automotive industry, and has a mature
management style and company culture. China also has own automotive industry named Shanghai
Automotive, which has been established 30 years, but the quantity of sales are better than
Mercedes Benz in China, because the company imported the advanced technology and brand, such
as Volkswagen; and it

Cultural Issues Of International Business
Culture can be defined as the sum total of the beliefs, rules, techniques, institutions, and artefacts
that characterize human populations (Ball et al, 1999 p.258). Sociologist generally talk about a
socialization process referring to the influence of social groups upon an individual, and the
interaction of that individual with other members of society. Key elements of cultureinclude
language, religion, values, attitudes, customs and norms of a group or society. Cultural issues
present a significant challenge to businesses; particularly international businesses. This is because
businesses involve people. Every business employs people, sells to people, buys from people, and is
owned and regulated by people. International people involve people from different national cultures
these cultures affect every aspect of business functions, including but not limited to: recruiting and
managing a workforce, marketing and distribution, purchasing of raw materials, dealing with
regulators, and securing funds. The challenges that cultural issues present to international business
is that of creating and nurturing cultural awareness; identifying and understanding the dynamics of
culture; recognizing behavioural patterns and practices that affect the business; and coming up with
strategies for dealing with cultural differences.
Cultural awareness can be described as awareness of the various norms, practices, and other cultural
variables of a country. This is an important aspect to

How Was Henry Ford Successful
Henry Ford was born July 30, 1863 in Greenfield, Michigan. He is most famous for manufacturing
the Ford Model T, the first production car ever made. At a young age, Ford demonstrated his
mechanical ability, facility for leadership and learning by trial and error, ultimately developing the
foundation for his career.
Henry Ford learned about steam engines by becoming friends with people who ran them and
eventually, in 1879 he left the farm to become an apprentice at the Michigan car company, a
Detroit based railroad car manufacturer. In 1888, Ford married Clara Jane Bryant and had one
child named Edsel. Ford supported himself by farming and running a sawmill.
Although Henry Ford did not invent the automobile itself, he instead contributed to the creation of
horseless carriage and developed and manufactured the first production automobile: The Ford
Model T. Before that, Henry Ford went through a few successes and a few struggles. 1896 was the
year he got promoted to chief engineer for Edison Illuminating Company. In the same year, Ford

and new automotive company: Ford Motor Company. The company debuted with the Ford Model

In 1908, Ford and a group of employees came up with the Model T because Ford had a vision to
create a better, cheaper motor vehicle for the middle class. When first released in, the price was

Criminal Behavior And Its Effects On Genetics
Criminal Behavior as seen in Genetics Criminal behavior is something that sociologists commonly
study. There are many theories about criminal behavior and deviance that have been made. One
that stands out is the theory that criminal behavior, or deviance, being closely related to genetics.
This theory refers to cases in which different genetic groups phenotypically respond differently to
the same array of environments. Basically, it states that through family a person can become or
think like a criminal. The thought that genetics can cause a human to become deviant seems a bit
far fetched. Humans have a mind of their own and can make their own decisions, what is in their
genes should not define their behavior. This being said, there are... Show more content on

They would not be considered at fault because it is in their genetic makeup that they are aggressive
and want to hurt others. The MAOA gene is a metabolic enzyme, which means that it stops the
work of the neurotransmitters, dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin, causing problems within
the enzyme that are associated with aggression (Wolfson, par 10). These problems within the
enzyme were made apparent through maltreatment of children. The primary maltreatment that
Caspi and Moffitt studied was when a child was a victim of physical and sexual abuse (Tabery 2).
What was found in their study was people with low MAOA activity drastically increase the risk of
having an antisocial personality disorder, while people with high MAOA only gradually develop
the risk (Tabury 3). Having an antisocial personality disorder be in your genetic makeup would not
make the person having it at fault. If it was in ones genetic makeup, then it would not be
possible to actually convict someone in court and they would have to be considered not
medically sane. The MAOA gene is found in everybody s X chromosome, so while women have
two copies of the X chromosome, men only have one so it s more common that men will have
more problems with MAOA gene (Wolfson, par. 10). However, even though everyone has this
gene, it does not cause a problem for most people. Through the Caspi Moffitt study it was shown
that the MAOA gene, while being there does not actually affect the brain

A trend very much in vogue to day in all democratic countries is that only a relatively small part of
the total legislative output emanates directly from the legislature. The bulk of the legislation is
promulgated by the executive and is known as Delegated Legislation.
So a simple definition of Delegated Legislation is that its a type of law which can be made quickly

Why Was Vladimir Lenin And The Bolshevik Revolution Impact...
Vladimir Lenin Vladimir Lenin and the Bolshevik Revolution impacted the Romanov dynasty in
countless ways. Lenin was physically incapable of leading the masses already controlled by a
powerful monarch. Therefore, when the war led to Nicholas II stepping down from his throne,
Lenin was finally given a shot at controlling Russia. Hence, the Russo Japanese war was
incredibly significant to Lenin because it was the beginning of his soon to be domination of
Russia. This was a significant event in Lenin s history because it showed how Russia began to fall
and Lenin began gaining supporters. Bloody Sunday was also a major event for the Romanov
Family because this was when his people turned against him and started rebelling, leading up to his
murder. Lenin an inspirational leader of both Russia and the BolshevikParty, was in control of
countless aspects of Russia and was prominent political figure.
Russo Japanese War The Russo Japanese War lasted from 1904 until 1905, beginning with the
Japanese initiating a surprise ambush on the Russians. This led to Nicholas II and his people
growing apart (Trueman, 2016, para. 2). Many of his people were living in poverty and were
anything but prepared to fight. Unfortunately, old men and young children were recruited to fight
in the front line. Soon, the people realized how little power they had and the country began to
collapse. Surprisingly, many of the citizens actually started asking for a

The Joy Luck Club
Lost in Translation
Amy Tan said in the People Magazine in 1989 about her novel, The Joy Luck Club, The book could
be about any culture or generation and what is lost between them. Amy Tan reveals that the mothers
try to pass on their Chinese heritage and teach their American born daughters to avoid the mistakes
the mothers made growing up in China. However, the daughters often see their mothers attempts at
guidance as attempting to control their lives. The mother and daughter pair of Lindo and Waverly
epitomize this relationship, where Lindo tries to integrate Chinese and American cultures into her
own life and Waverly tries to both be independent and keep her Chinese heritage. Although Waverly
and Lindo do not mend their cultural conflicts completely, their experiences with one another allow
them to change and accept one another.
Lindo and Waverly are two women who experienced very different childhoods, where the society
and cultures of China and America pushed them in separate directions. Lindo grew up in China,
where family is the single most important priority. At the young age of two, she is promised to
the Huangs son for marriage (51) by her parents through a matchmaker. She is an obedient wife
(56), learning to please Huang Taitai while planning a way to null the marriage arrangement. By
living a dual identity at such a young age, she learns to be inconspicuous and clever. The

The Stone Angel Essay
The Stone Angel
Margaret Laurence s story of The Stone Angel is about the life Hagar Currie an emotionless,
stubborn and proud woman. Margaret Laurence uses this stone angel, originally bought by Hagar s
father, to embody the qualities of Hagar. These virtues are often identical to those one assumes are
possessed by the stone angel and are paralleled many times by Laurence. Throughout the novel,
Hagar relives her life through her memories.
Over the course of the novel, one realizes that Hagar s loneliness and depression are, in fact,
brought on by her pride, detached emotions, obstinacy and ignorance which she uses,
subconsciously or not, to push those who love her most away. Hagar Currie was incapable of

Stress Management Techniques Analysis
The four techniques that I used to help manage my stress were art therapy, time management
/scheduling, social support and doing a hobby to take my mind off of stressors. I was hesitant to
practice these techniques because I feel like I am able to manage my stress well anyways, but as I
started consciously using these techniques, I realized that my mindwas a lot clearer and I did not
feel as overwhelmed. I was already doing these techniques on a smaller scale, but when I decided
to go all out and focus on using them, I realized that I was not that good at managing my stress, I
was just used to having this stress in my life.

decided to try them out because I need to do it for this assignment and I figured that it could not
be any more hurtful than helpful and it did not take too much effort. The first technique that I
practiced was art therapy and I came to love it. I taught myself how to watercolor paint and now
I can paint for hours at a time. When I paint I focus on what I am doing and all of my worries

Native American Ethical Issues
The handling of human remains and sacred sites of prehistoric people still remains as a hunge
controversial subject in the field of Anthropology. Archaeology are bounded by all kinds of laws
and regulations, guidelines are strictly followed by archaeologists to ensure a legal, ethical, and
professional conduct of archaeological research. Complex ethical issues arise when an archaeologist
tries to excavate a prehistoric site. Archaeologists must be careful when handling Native American

Archaeologists can t just possess any Native American material on their own for research
purposes without the consultation of the Native American tribes. To the Native Americans, the
past is connected to present. Rebecca Tsosie, a law professor from the Arizona State University
mentioned that The past is very real to contemporary Indian people ans is preserved in oral
histories and ongoing ceremonial practices and beliefs. (66). The native people feel that they re
obligated to take care of their past, they have to honor their ancestors no matter how long ago
they have passed away. They believe that they should have the right to stop any behaviors that
might desecrate their ancestors. It is very understandable that one might not appreciate someone
digging up their grandparents and perform research without permission. Especially to people
who practices a religion, this action may be interpreted as the archaeologists trying to disturb the
spirits of their ancestors. Not only the remains and objects are important to the Natives, but also
their land. Land was considered to be a gift given from the Creator. Just like the ancestral remains
the descendants are responsible for their sacred land. It is believed that The land is complete with
sacred teachings, marked by tribal history, and places of interrelations to the powerful beings of
the nature spirit world. (Champagne). The Native Americans do not have the need to know the
truth, all they care is to ensure spiritual peace to their ancestors and to pass on the legacy of their

My Experience At The Hamburg Airport
It is a Saturday ,about 4 o clock in the morning, on the way to the Hamburg airport. I am with my
parents and we just left the hotel. I am about to leave Germany and my family to play basketball
in Texas and also to go to college.
I made this decision half a year ago. I signed with a scholarship agency, and a coach from Texas
contacted me the last week before the deadline of recruiting. Therefore, everything was
complicated. I had to prepare, do paperwork, take English tests, and several other things in two

everything; unfortunately, that wasn t the case. The coach and the people working for the
scholarship agency told me I had to get my Visa on my own, and also book the flight myself. I
was sure they told me that they would help me, but that wasn t the case. It came to the point that
I had to do all this myself. It was tough. It seemed everything was against me. The people
working at the embassy told me to get the visa before booking a flight. The people working at
the college and told me to book the flight and then get the visa. I didn t know what to do ,but my
parents encouraged me to keep on going and supported me in every point. On the Wednesday
before my flight, my mother and I drove to the embassy in Berlin to get my Visa. There was no

Causes Of Hepatitis C
Hepatitis C is a form of liver inflammation caused by the hepacivirus, a member of the Flaviviridae
family. It is a highly infectious blood born disease most commonly transmitted by shared needles
among drug users. According to the CDC it affects approximately 3.9 million Americans and
unfortunately 2.7 million of those individuals are chronically infected. Because the signs and
symptoms may not appear sometimes for up to 20 30 years, many people may die from the chronic
illness as the disease has a higher treatment response in the acute stages. Along with shared needles,
other routes of transmission include tattooing, body piercing, needle sticks in health care setting,
and parental infections during pregnancy and child birth. Uncommonly, transmission can occur
through intercourse with an infected person or sharing personal items, such as razors or
toothbrushes, that may have infected blood on them. There has been question whether breast milk
can cause infection, however, there is currently no evidence of this. Many people may not know
they are infected since it can take years for symptoms to appear and the majority of signs and
symptoms typically are related to other conditions such as stress or influenza. Fever, fatigue,

The Soviet War Of Russia Essay
The Russian military is vastly superior to that of the Baltic States (Estonia, Lithuania, and
Latvia) and Russia has an interest in occupying the Baltic States for strategic and political
reasons. A large minority of the population of the Baltics is ethnically Russian, installed in the
area after Soviet occupation of the Baltics after the Second World War. Also, Russian forces near
the Baltics outnumber Baltic and NATO forces in the area. Kaliningrad, a Russian enclave
between Poland and Lithuania, is the headquarters of Russia s Baltic fleet (Meyer). The desired
military end state for the United States is that Russia is incapable or unwilling to invade the
Baltics, and the Baltics are assured of this. We are interested in how United States military assets
may be brought to bear in order to achieve Baltic security from Russia. We assert that Baltic
security may be enhanced by increasing the presence of United States military forces in the Baltics.
Russia s center of gravity is their military strength relative to the Baltic States and NATO forces
stationed in the area. This center of gravity has the twin critical capabilities of the abilities to invade
the Baltic States, and the ability to intimidate and influence the Baltic population. Russia s critical
requirements are a strong military, their geographic nearness to the Baltics, the element of surprise,
and Nuclear weapons. Of these, their element of surprise and their relative military strength are the

have a birth defect. I decided to use this known fact from the Human Biology thirteenth edition
textbook by Sylvia S. Mader and Michael Windelpecht due to the fact that not many people
know or even care to think about it that is unless it happened to them or someone in their own
circle. In order to understand how to prevent and test for a birth defect you need to understand
some common definitions and words that can be used while reading about the topic. For
starters, as stated in the merriam webster dictionary, the medical definition of defect is a lack or
deficiency of something necessary for adequacy in form or function. Another word that is used a
lot when talking about this subject matter is test and testing. Based on the medical definition a
test is a diagnostic procedure for determining the presence or nature of a condition or disease or
for revealing a change in function. From this definition you can see how the word test is also used
in medical vocabulary to see what is wrong with a patient so the doctors can determine what to do
next. The last term that I want to explain briefly before continuing is one that people might get
confused with, it is the word prevent. Although it might seem like an easy word people still confuse
it with the act of curing someone. The dictionary without a doubt states that the word prevent
means to keep from happening or existing

Dr V. Wilson
Introduction
If you want to further your education there are a few thing you need to know about the experiences
that come along with been a first time college student. The time spent in college is a fond of
memory and happy experiences; nevertheless it can be stressful and challenging. Some may say
that college was easy but for me I know from experience that only the strong will survive in
college. There are so many issues that people students deal with in college. You will think it s a
smooth ride and everything supposes to be in order. In my opinion it s a learning experience, but a
college student thinks it s a nightmare. You have to be headstrong, if not you won t like it and
eventually drop out. There several issue that affect the Higher Education system. Some of these
issues Higher include financial aide, administration, and preparation for workforce and career
readiness. Student loans are one of the biggest issues that affect college student s nationwide
especially low income African American college student. Education is facing a lot of issues from
tuition cost to drop out rate due to college student s not been able to grasps the college life and/or
not having the funding needed to stay in college. The cost of higher education is also matters of
great importance. There are many

The Titanic Is One Of The Biggest Insurance Scams
The Titanic set off on its maiden voyage from Southampton to New York City carrying about 2,200
people on board but just after four days into its journey, the Titanic struck an iceberg and within
three hours of its journey it plunged into the depth of the ocean killing over fifteen hundred
passengers. Some researchers claim the legendary Titanicmay have never sunk at all and was
swapped with an identical vessel thus, being one of the biggest insurance scams in history. The
real story begins in 1907 when American financier JP Morgan, ordered a new class of ships. The
construction of a new class of super liners for his company white star line. The Olympic was the
first ship created and looked identical to the Titanic. In 1911 the Olympic collided

Essay Analysis of Great Expectations by Charles Dickens
Analysis of Great Expectations by Charles Dickens
Charles Dickens, the revolutionary 19th century novelist, wrote a bildungsroman of Phillip Pirrip
(Pip) and the reality of his own Great
Expectations in his pursuit to become a gentleman. In Chapter 8, the reader is introduced to Miss
Havisham and Estella and this is where
Pip first becomes dissatisfied with the life at the forge.
There were many writers in Dickens day whose works are no longer read; this is possibly because
Dickens did something idiosyncratically different from his contemporaries. The plot of Great
Expectations is quite complex, yet it is the way that Dickens handles the various elements of the
plot that makes the novel appealing. For instance, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By introducing this character, the questions of why she is withdrawn and how this is related to the
subplot concerning the convicts are left unanswered. It is not until during Chapters 40 42 that the
reader finds out about Miss Havisham s connection with the convicts. Dickens is deliberately vague
about Miss Havisham s past. This allows him later to introduce the idea that she might be Pip s
benefactor.
From the first point of contact Dickens is creating twists and turns later in the novel.
The eccentricity and eeriness of Miss Havisham fascinates the reader, as she is one of fiction s
strangest (Ch. 8 p. 46) women. Questions are posed in this chapter about the connection between
her and Estella and why is she wearing bridal dress (Ch. 8 p. 50). The reader may assume several
reasons but their innate inquisitiveness helps propel the novel forward.
This device is used because of the structure of the novel. It was originally printed in weekly
instalments. This means that Great
Expectations does not have the structure of a conventional novel.
Instead of moving towards a general climax, the story has many mini resolutions of the plot. Each
new episode needed a cliffhanger type ending in order to ensure that the public would buy the next
instalment. This has often been seen as a weakness of Charles
Dickens novels as the story can become repetitive. An advantage of this is that the original reader,
if having missed an issue, can have

Essay On India And Pakistan Geography

Research essay
It is common to see soldiers die in war, but the conflict between India and Pakistan is no ordinary
war. The conflict between India and Pakistan is so big they are warning each other with Nuclear
war impacted by physical geography. How has the physical geography of Southern Asia impacted
the conflict between India and Pakistan since the 20th century? There are three major factors that
are affecting the relationship between India and Pakistan relating to geography. These three
factors are nature, history and religion that I will be writing about. One of the ways India and
Pakistan are in a conflict is because of religion and the geography of the region has impacted
religion.
Religion is in various places, in different atmospheres. Most people believe that symbolism,
beliefs are all shaped by the world we live in claims Elizabeth Bornman (1), this tells us most
commonly people are born into their religion. Different locations where people may have been
born could have impacted the religious beliefs of those people. Making them believe their religion

Industrialization During The 19th Century
Life in the 19th century changed rapidly due to the influences of the industrial revolution, which
lead to the mass production of goods, making products more affordable for common people.
Industrialisation lead to urbanisation and more people flocked from rural areas to towns
creating more disease, and by the end of the 1800 s 80% of the population of Britain lived in
cities. Steam powered cotton factories supplied half of the world and coal mining, in areas such
as Newcastle, expanded to meet the demands of railway construction. Ship building increased
and so did engineering. Farming was still big and machinery was easier to use and faster.
Craftsman, blacksmiths and carpenters could be found in rural areas, and lace making was a
popular industry there too. Factories were ill equipped but the conditions were bad. Children
were regularly used as they were ideal to do jobs in small spaces and for cleaning. The state took
over from the private, and law makers such as trade unions addressed and improved working
conditions, particularly child labour. The 1833 factory act improved conditions for children and
forbade factory owners from working children under 16 to work longer than 10 hours each day,
and that children under 13 years were to get at least 2 hours of education per day. There also
became a provide for inspectors. Working conditions continued to improve for the working poor,
especially children and in the 1840 s legislation forced factory owners to fence off dangerous

Margaret Sanger s Life And Life
Margaret Sanger was born in Corning, New York on September 14, 1879 [3] as Margaret Louise
Higgins. [1] Her father, Michael Higgins, originally studied phrenology and other medical
practices, but eventually moved to being a stone cutter. Her mother, Anne Higgins, was born in
Ireland, and her family moved to Canada during the Potato Famine. In 1869 Michael married
Anne and she went through 18 pregnancies, only 11 of which lived. [3] Margaret was the sixth
child in this long line and spent her time doing chores and looking after the younger children.
Her older two older sisters supported her when she started attending school at Claverack College
and Hudson River Institute. [2] When her mother was 50 years old, she passed away and
Margaret blamed her mother s frequent childbearing and poverty for her death. At the age of 21,
Margaret started taking classes at the White Plains Hospital as a nurse probationer. Not even
two years later, in 1902, she married William Sanger and quit her schooling. Later in 1913,
Margaret and William filed for divorce but it wasn t finalized until 1921. [13] She went on to
marry Noah Slee in 1922. After having 3 children, she and her family took up residence in New

Youth Violence And Its Effect On Children
Since the year 2000, youth violence has been one of the biggest concerns in almost every
community. In my research I decided to evaluate the study of youth violence. Youth violence is
said to start since the early days of childhood and lead onto the teenage years of a child. When
talking about youth violence, the child may not only be an offender but they can be a victim of
violence as well. Bullying, punching, slapping, kicking, teasing, and verbal abuse are all
behaviors and forms of mistreatment that can harm someone both physically and emotionally.
These acts can occur at home, school, afterschool programs, and even among friends. Some
parents tend to overlook the importance of youth violence among their kids. In some cases the
parents aren t even aware that their child might be either an offender or a victim of youth
violence. Some parents at home try to talk to their children to make sure their kids aren t victim
of youth violence and in the process they talk to them about the dangerous being violent towards
others. In my research, I discovered that some of the causes to why kids are so violent is because
of either the lack of parental attention, not given parental discipline, they are victims of abuse at
home, or even taught to be violent by the games and movies they are exposed to by the media.
Which is why now a days the community tries to work together to create a safe environment for
their children. They try to involve the children into programs that teaches them

Because Isolde daughter was sad to leave all her family and friends behind in order to go to a

What went wrong here is that instead of Isolde and Mark took this potion, Isolde and Tristan

State of the Union Address 2013). The debate over whether or not the minimum wageshould be

His research found that there was no statistical correlation of minimum wage increase and
unemployment rate increase, but rather that the only outcome of a minimum wage increase
was the benefit of the minimum wage employees. The Republicans argument was struck down
once again, but unfortunately corporate lobbyists have made them resilient against reason. The
problem that many politicians seem to forget is that the fast food workforce is not only made up
of high school and college kids anymore; the Federal Bureau of Labor Statistics published a
survey which found that the median age of fast food workers were 29.2 years. Many of the
employees that are in their late twenties and early thirties are supporting a family on minimum
wage which results in an annual income of $15,000 to $20,000 per year, which is below the
poverty level for a family of four. Because of their low income, many families also rely on public
assistance. The University of California Berkeley Center for Labor Research and Education
released a study revealing the amount of fast food workers still in need of government assistance
which was an alarming 52 percent (Allegretto). This is where the American taxpayer is, or should
be, concerned. According to Allegretto, the cost of public assistance going towards food workers is
an alarming seven billion dollars annually. That is seven

The Role Of Ethical Issues In Nursing
To Immunize or Not To Immunize, That Is the Ethical Question
An Ethical Introduction
Aldo Leopold said Ethical behavior is doing the right thing when no one else is watching even
when doing the wrong thing is legal . As healthcare providers, our patients place a great deal of
trust in us to practice ethical medicine (Battie, 2015, p. 505). We, as nurses, have access to
intimate parts of patient s lives, and are looked upon to help educate patients in their decisions
towards appropriate healthcare. Guided by a code of ethics, nurses serve to protect, prevent and
avoid ethical harm to patients, while having the responsibility to strive for better preventative
healthcare as opposed to illness centered care (Kangasniemi, Pakkanen, Korhonen, ... Show more

Justice is described as treating everyone fairly (Finkelman Kenner, 2016, p. 175). One could
interpret this as either everyone is vaccinated or none at all. But how do we separate those who
refuse even mandatory requirements. We do not shame others for not washing their hands or not
covering their months when they cough (Kaplan, 2015, p. 15). Why would we treat those choosing
to not be immunized any different? We would only cause them to retreat into other avenues of
schooling, employment or even healthcare. What then is the answer?
The truth then becomes the vital role in the argument, whichever way the argument may lean.
Veracity or truth, as the four ethical principle, becomes the deciding factor. Parents and patients
alike are undereducated and overwhelmed. With the misinformation on the internet and the
misguidance of friends and family, it becomes easily confusing to determine the right approach to
immunizing children and even ourselves. Fully informing patients of the benefits and potential side
effects allows them the make educated if not informed decisions on their healthcare and overall
wellbeing.

Guernica by Pablo Picasso was a black and white, mural oil painting created in June of 1937 on a

the Spanish town of Guernica after a vicious bombing by the German and Italian forces during
the Spanish Civil War. What followed was a senseless slaughter and bloodshed with the primary
focus being the demoralization of the Basque people. The painting depicts suffering people,
animals, and buildings wrenched by violence and chaos. On the far left, there is a bull standing

Picasso plays with shadows and contrast to not only give the painting depth, but also as a form of
symbolism between the darkness and gloom of the massacre and the light peaking through cracks
which represents hope that is unattainable. The contrast also adds emphasis on areas of focus such
as with the bull at the far left and the floating head. Lines are also used for this purpose, as they
direct the viewers eye primarily to the horse near the center of the painting. There are many subtle
hidden messages within this piece that leave a haunting impression on the viewer. The bull and
horse are both essential parts of Spanish culture and play important roles in the meaning of this
painting. They illustrate both the brutalization and dehumanization of humanity during wartime, as
well as the animalistic response that all living things experience when coming into close proximity
with fear and death. Furthermore, the bull represents Spain itself, which still stands, triumphant
and peaceful after such a brutal and horrendous act of violence. The overall attitude of the painting
however is less optimistic, with brutality and chaos being the general tone. The dove inscribed in
the wall represents lost hope, as well as the glimmers of light coming in between the crack of the
walls. The broken sword and flower growing from the dismembered hand represents the birth and
death of life at the hands of humanity. The main

right to end life relieves the suffering and pain they are experiencing. These people with

Many people do not understand the perspective from a patient s point of view unless, they are in

Brittany Maynard, a twenty nine year old woman who was diagnosed with glioblastoma. She

B. GSM Modem
A GSM modem is a wireless modem that works with a GSM wireless network. A wireless modem
behaves like a dial up modem. The main difference between them is that a dial up modem sends
and receives data through a fixed telephone line while a wireless modem sends and receives data
through radio waves. Like a GSM mobile phone, a GSM modem requires a SIM card from a
wireless carrier in order to operate.
Generally, computers use AT commands to control modems. Reading of message from the SIM
card inserted into the modem is done by sending the appropriate AT command to the modem.
In addition to the standard AT commands, GSM modems support an extended set of AT commands.
These extended AT commands are defined in the GSM standards. Some common basic SMS
related AT Commands are shown in table below:

One of the most common devices attached to an 8051 is an LCD display. Here we have used
16x2 that means 2 rows and 16 characters. It is a Hitachi HD44780 compatible module, having 16
pins including 2 pins for backlight.
To program the LCD module, first we have to initialize the LCD by sending some control words.
RS should be low and E should be high when we send control. R/W pin 0 mean write data or

What Is The Differences Between D Artagnan And M. Bonacieux
D artagnan the central character of the novel is a young ambitious man whose dream is to
become a musketeer like his dad. He is about 21 years old and is from Gascony. He is brave ,
noble ambitious, crafty, and intelligent. He is driven by love and ruled by chivalry but
occassionally prone to amoral behavior due to his pride. Monseur Bonacieux who is D
artagnans landlord and Madame Bonacieux s husband. His wife was kidnapped and went to D
artagnan for help. Even though D artagnan was a young ambitious and brave man he has some
similarities to the character Bonacieux who is about 50 years old , married and retired. Some of
the similarities between D artagnan and M. Bonacieux is that they both dont want to see a
woman in trouble. In chapter 8 of the novel M.Bonacieux goes to D artagnan for help and D
artagnan agrees to help because they dont want to see a woman in trouble. Even though they are
both ambitious men , they had a soft spot for women and would never hurt a lady. They both
also are smart and crafty men who try to be clever in their dealings. M. Bonacieux went on and
asked for help from D artagnan even though he was warned in the letter not to talk to anyone
about his wife s abduction. One can say his a knuckle head just like D artagnan because he didn t

Investigating The National Check Fraud Center
Individuals should take the time to carefully review their bank statement in order to help secure
their own accounts and the things that banks overlook.
Inks that will make a Criminal Rethink
The National Check Fraud Center recommends for people to change the type of pen that he or she
signs with in order to protect him or her from falling victim to this crime. The majority of both
ballpoint pens and dark inked markers have a rich dye base. This simply means that switching pen
types can help protect individuals from check washing. There are security pens that have a
completely different ink base. Among water resistant inks, the inks gel does not allow fluid to
pass through it making it a safer pen. Gel pens have been found to be the most impervious pens
and have been discovered as counterfeit proof pens. These counterfeit pens are secure from acetone
and many other chemicals used in check washing. According to a recent study performed by the
National Check Fraud Center, a specific and inexpensive pen called Uniball 207 makes check
washing much more difficult for the check washers. The Uni ball pen has been around for over
125 years. Originally made of wood, this pen was first started in 1887 by Niroku Masaki and ten
employees in Tokyo... with these wooden pens history begins. When check washing became a
serious problem worldwide the Uni ball company business leaders began attempting to create a pen
to trump all others. Only a few years ago did this company create the

Free-Will And Determinism
Free Will and Determinism is it an Illusion?
Determinism, libertarianism and compatibilism are three significantly different views on where
unaccountability might stop and where free will and moral responsibility begin. Determinism is the
strict opinion that every action and decision is the cause of an event, genetics or the environment
prior to that action. Quite the opposite is libertarianism, which happens to be the genuine belief in
free will as well as the denial of universal causation. Finally, deep self compatibilism meshes both
of these stand points together and introduces the idea that one s action can be free if it stems purely
out of personal, authentic desire. Since all three judgments have a backbone of convincing ... Show

Second, Silenus would agree that if something is caused it can never be free. Silenus is very
high on himself as he rarely ever takes Hench s threats seriously because he is intelligent enough
to understand that Hench feels responsible for anything that he does. This is partially because
Silenus is constantly reminding him that he isn t responsible for how his mind works and thus
can never be held accountable for any action that may blossem from his desires. Third, since
Silenus concludes that he is not responsible for what he is, free will and moral responsibility
must cease to exist in his case. Don t be silly Hench. Only human beings are responsible. I am
what I am, (Satyr, 218). The Satyr considers himself to be above human responsibility based on
both his pre determined genetic information, and also his environment when he s reduced to
cleaning his creator s lab. To add, all human acquaintances Silenus has had the displeasure of
meeting label him as an untrustworthy beast. By soaking up human behavior like a sponge,
Silenus discovers that people can be extremely selfish, so he decides it is ok to mock this behavior
in a very direct manner. Therefore, Silenus the Satyr and his determinist view that there are reasons
behind every action have even Hench convinced that he is in fact liable for all negative outcomes
that Silenus may initiate.
In the beginning of the story, Hench is

The Dire Wolf
The Dire Wolf
The species that is known as the dire wolf is a large and powerful ancestor of modern wolves and
dogs which is now extinct. It has, however, left a rich legacy in myths and legends across many
northern countries where it once roamed as one of the most feared predators of all time. This
paper traces the way that the dire wolf has been represented in myths and legends of the past,
and also in the stories, films and computer video games of the modern world. The exact species
which gave rise to all the legends is the Canis dirus and it lived in the Pleistocene Epoch (2.6
million to 11.700 years ago) in both North and South America (Encyclopaedia Britannica, 2012, p.
1). It was considerably larger than the modern gray wolf, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This game shows the dire wolf as both a fearful enemy and a loyal fighter in battle, and this
reflects an appreciation of its qualities to contribute towards good or evil outcomes. In the music
genre, the band Grateful Dead immortalized the dire wolf as six hundred pounds of sin which was
grinning outside the window at a hard drinking, hard gambling man. The chorus of the song don t
murder me implies that the dire wolf has come to take the man s life. The dire wolf symbolizes all
the wrong that a person has done in the past, and the likelihood that cruel retribution will come one
day. These examples outlined above have shown that the dire wolf has maintained its fascination for
human beings long after its extinction. Its combination of force, cruelty and cunning, along with
enormous size, and tendency to roam in packs serve as an example of power even in very harsh
conditions. It has connotations of majesty, and also cruelty, especially when dealing out justice and
revenge. Even in the twenty first century it has the power to cast fear into our modern imagination.

The Family Stone: Elements of Conflict Conflict Management Resolution/HBD 6771.E1 May 4,
2011 Dr. Barbara Hollingshead The Family Stone: Elements of Conflict Conflict, according to
Wilmot Hocker (2011), is defined as an expressed struggle between at least two interdependent
parties who perceive incompatible goals, scarce resources, and interference from others in
achieving their goals. At the core of all conflict analysis is perception (Wilmot Hocker, 2011). In
interpersonal conflicts, people react as though there are genuinely different goals, there is not
enough of some resource, and the other person actually is getting in the way of something prized
by the perceiver (Wilmot Hocker, 2011). This... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Meredith wants to hold on to the guy who validates her and reinforces her self esteem with
attention and adherence to her lifestyle (BMW, tie wearing, Manhattan city life). The family sees
themselves losing the attention and affection of a beloved family member to someone who is
attempting to make him like her (The Family Stone, Bezucha, 2006). Meredith feels that all of the
family members interfere by ganging up on her to render her relationship with Everett as null and
void. The family perceives Meredith s presence as an interference to the purpose of the family
gathering; especially the mother, who wanted to utilize the occasion to talk to the family about her
terminal illness. However, Ben, sympathizing with Meredith after she gives out Christmas gifts to
the family members, gets her to relax and hang loose by getting her drunk at a town pub. She finds
herself in his ability to be sensitive and non judgmental toward her (The Family Stone, Bezucha,

manifest themselves in the fact that they both want the same things she wants the comfort,
camaraderie, and adventure with someone who loves her, and he wants the comfort, camaraderie,
and adventure with someone who loves him. They thought they had that in their current lifestyle,

Glee Is a Hoax
You re walking through SIUE halls in peck hall, and then someone just jumps out singing and
dancing on this joyous occasion. Does something like that really happen? No! There is a lot of
hard work that goes into something like that, and glee portrays it all wrong. All the hard work that
goes into it like: cleaning the choreography, learning the voice parts, and the many hours of
practice. In a recent article by spark notes, in reality 90% of choirkids are theater geeks and really
want to help train their voices, while in glee it seems like they just sing then go to the Gym. Show
choiris so much more than just busting out in song; it s about making friendship doing something
you really love to do and to make a lasting impression on someone s life. If we continue to let glee
gives us the idea of what show choir is, then the real show choir world will fall into a myth.
Show choir is a lifestyle to most it as we call it a way of living. Some people find it very
offensive when they ask do you want to join show choir , and then they get a response like. NO I
hate glee. My first question is what does glee have to do with it? Do people even know what
show choir really is? Glee has made millions of dollars trying to portray their way of thinking
about show choir. Do you ever see the parents that put in the hard work of costumes, stitching
dresses that have fallen apart, making sure everyone costumes are fit, and they work hard at bingo

Bletchley Park Museum Report
The museum displayed the work here at Bletchley Park with much pride and admiration. They
believe that the work done here by these men and women were crucial to the war effort. Because
of the nature of the work, these stories were often untold until many years after the war. In such,
this museum tries to exemplify the patriotism, struggle, and contribution the workers at Bletchley
Park experienced during the Second World War. One point myself and several others in my group
were curious about, included how they depicted the living experiences of those who lived and
worked here. At times it seemed that they represented as great working experience, despite its
stressors. In other times, the information seemed to be contradictory, expressing how some viewed

After visiting Bletchley Park, my changing understanding of British history revolved around the
utilization of women and their vital role in multiple sectors of a wartime Britain. One of the posters
I bought pictures a woman in a ball gown surrounded by military men that says, Stay mum, she s
not so dumb! . This quote is meant to demonstrate that women are listening to the men soldiers tales
and secrets that the women would use for their loyalty. Another point the museumpointed out in
one section involved the cracking of the Japanese codes, which occurred very early, pre dating the
official start of the war. The museum highlights this and then added a panel that suggested that
Roosevelt potentially had prior knowledge of Pearl Harbor before the attack, and used this attack to
bring the United States into the war. I thought this information was interesting and in some ways
changed my opinion on what President Roosevelt did and did not know before the bombing of
Pearl Harbor. It was fascinating that this little manor village housed the brilliant minds that worked
tirelessly to help the war

Healthy Eating Persuasive Speech Outline
Persuasive Speech: Making healthy Nutritional decisions.
Specific Purpose: To persuade my classmates to make healthier nutritional choices.
Thesis Statement: Healthy eating is not something to worry about down the road; we need to act
now, while we are young to develop good habits for the future.
1.Introduction:
a.Attention Getter: I visited Holly Drougas our very own licensed dietician here at Virginia
Western. I asked her, What is the first thing that comes to mind when I say the word Nutrition? She
shocked me by saying, Confusion . With so much conflicting and confusing information from both
the scientific community and the lay press, many people simply don t know what to eat to be
healthy or to lose weight.

or depriving yourself ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

that you just hate kale, even though it appears to be another one of the big health crazes. I m just

limitations as college students, we can overcome the hurdles of Availability, Time, and Money, to
maintain a healthy diet.

try to convince you that carrots and celery aren t just rabbit food, but people food too.
2.Problem Step:
a.Internal Preview: So let s start with some reasons as to why so many people are confused about
what to eat: misinformation and marketing.

Comparing Sigmund Freud s Understanding Of Infant And...
For Freud, it s important to understand that Infant and waking life were full of emotions, drives,
wishes, traumas, aggression, sex, and experiences that our mind could not consciously handle and
that loaded psychic material could not regularly be repressed or barried in the unconscious. He
once quoted, There is, in fact, no better analogy for repression, by which something in the mindis at

from which it could emerge once more through the work of spades Freud The Problem is that
during the night there is less automatic repression. These latent dream thoughts would bubble up. If

Persuasive Essay On Belief
Belief having an affinity in believing something is true. This single word, vague, and short. As
submissive as it is, Belief tends to get on roads that it never means to. The road diverges into
two, and a choice has to be made. Manipulation passes, and it takes a hold of Belief. Without any
knowledge, he willingly follows. This is the basis of a belief. I love the manipulation angle. Usually
I think of belief as such a positive, hopeful word. But you are right... it is equally dangerous. Good.
The basis of belief, has been shattered explain a bit. By what? How so? . All the pieces of it have
been scattered everywhere. You can t do much with a puzzle piece if you don t know where it goes,
so get ready to visualize. Visualize the perfect end point for your belief, whether it s a 5 piece or an
1000 piece puzzle. It always makes sense to start with the corner pieces first, so we are going to do
that.
Transition a bit more fully here? So what is cognitive bias then? It is what makes our minds
believe things, without even giving us a choice. These mechanisms in our head cause us to make
usually biased and unfair decision, which is why it s important to be aware of them. Take the ideaof
bandwagoning of course, the most known bias. This is where you just do what everyone else is
doing, without any personal regard to yourself or to anyone else, all because someone else is doing
it. You may think that you aren t susceptible, but everyone is because it happens subliminally. and

What Is The Theme Of The Senttry By Wilfred Owen
Hello my name is Jarod Class: Y2JB and today for my IOC I ve chosen the poem The Sentry by
Wilfred Owen. In this poem Wilfred Owen actually experiences this event as they were taking
cover from enemy artillery shells and unfortunately one of the sentries was hit by one of the
shells and were blinded therefore this poem was very personal to him. Owen began writing the
poem the Sentry while he was receiving hospital treatment in Crag Lockhart in 1917. He then
made alterations while he was in Scarborough 1918 when he was training to return to France and
the poem was finally completed in September of 1918 a few weeks before his timely demise
during the war. This is personal to Wilfred Owen as this was his account of an isolated incident of

  • 2. Elizabeth Barrett Browning s Love Elizabeth s Love What is Love? Love can be described as an intense emotional feeling with the ability to change the life of the giver and the recipient of this profound emotion. Love can be described as a verb or action. Love can be experienced in varying levels of intensity. Elizabeth Barrett Browning credits her love for her husband as the power that headed her emotionally, physically, and spiritually. EEB began writing at the age of twelve, but two years later, she was confined to her home due to a chronic illness and spinal injury. Her secret relationship with Robert Browning sparked a new motivation for life in EEB. Her love for Robert greatly influenced her budding career as a poet. Her health and desire to live ... Depth, breadth, and height, are 3D terms of measurements used to measure love with completeness. These words were used to describe feelings of great magnitude; reaching deep within, far above, and beyond the soul. The boundless limits of her love are not contained in earthly realms, but go beyond to the outer universe. Depth, breadth, and height, are also biblical terms used to convey the unconditional love of God. EBB makes reference to her religion by comparing her love to the greatest love of all, the love of God. The implication of both a physical attraction and a spiritual love, while professing as long as there is life, this perfect love will exist. How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. I love thee to the depth and breadth and height My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight For the ends of Being and ideal Grace. In the next four lines demonstrates the powerful effect love and an inability to control it. EEB is aware of these feelings every second, minute, hour, of every day and night. The Job Safety Law of 1970 In United States Department of Labor, in The Job Safety Law of 1970: Its Passage Was Perilous, Judson MacLaury (1981) asserts that in 1872, in Massachusetts, the State labor bureaus reported some industrial tragic accidents, which developed some social movements related to occupational safety and health laws. The State labor bureau urged the state legislatures to regulate the work environment that risked employees health. As a result, in 1877, Massachusetts was the first state which passed the factory inspection law that required manufacturing workplaces to have some safety standards, such as protection on elevators and fire escapes. In 1913, Congress formed the Department of Labor in order to improve work situation and environments, such as preventing accidents, injuries, and diseases. The Bureau of Labor Statics attempted to make unhealthy work environment healthy. Later, in World War I, Congress created the Working Conditions Service which inspected manufacturing plants, advice firms to reduce risks, and supported States to develop and impose safety and health standards. During the first term of President Franklin Roosevelt, Congress passed three laws which empowered the Federal Government to protect employees. This situation can be explained by Chinese mood. Wang (2010) indicated that the cultural background, policy and economic conditions of the country have suffered Chinese managers to confuse the existed management styles, which requires a new way to get accustomed to modern market. Moreover, some internal and external factors should be considered between Chinese style and western style. Paternalism style is used widely in Chinese state owned company. Firstly, the influence of management style in China is competition. Obviously, as a most potential international market, more and more western companies enter the local market, like Wal Mart. The external retail companies including Hong Kong companies have possessed almost retail market in China. In this circumstance, small sized private company cannot compete with magnates; only the state owned enterprise can rely on the policy to rival magnates in this area. The reason is that western large scale companies have developed over many years; some of them have even existed for many centuries, such as Mercedes Benz. It has long history, 110 years, in the automotive industry, and has a mature management style and company culture. China also has own automotive industry named Shanghai Automotive, which has been established 30 years, but the quantity of sales are better than Mercedes Benz in China, because the company imported the advanced technology and brand, such as Volkswagen; and it ... Cultural Issues Of International Business Culture can be defined as the sum total of the beliefs, rules, techniques, institutions, and artefacts that characterize human populations (Ball et al, 1999 p.258). Sociologist generally talk about a socialization process referring to the influence of social groups upon an individual, and the interaction of that individual with other members of society. Key elements of cultureinclude language, religion, values, attitudes, customs and norms of a group or society. Cultural issues present a significant challenge to businesses; particularly international businesses. This is because businesses involve people. Every business employs people, sells to people, buys from people, and is owned and regulated by people. International people involve people from different national cultures these cultures affect every aspect of business functions, including but not limited to: recruiting and managing a workforce, marketing and distribution, purchasing of raw materials, dealing with regulators, and securing funds. • 9. Criminal Behavior And Its Effects On Genetics Criminal Behavior as seen in Genetics Criminal behavior is something that sociologists commonly study. There are many theories about criminal behavior and deviance that have been made. One that stands out is the theory that criminal behavior, or deviance, being closely related to genetics. This theory refers to cases in which different genetic groups phenotypically respond differently to the same array of environments. Basically, it states that through family a person can become or think like a criminal. The thought that genetics can cause a human to become deviant seems a bit far fetched. Humans have a mind of their own and can make their own decisions, what is in their genes should not define their behavior. This being said, there are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They would not be considered at fault because it is in their genetic makeup that they are aggressive and want to hurt others. The MAOA gene is a metabolic enzyme, which means that it stops the work of the neurotransmitters, dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin, causing problems within the enzyme that are associated with aggression (Wolfson, par 10). These problems within the enzyme were made apparent through maltreatment of children. The primary maltreatment that Caspi and Moffitt studied was when a child was a victim of physical and sexual abuse (Tabery 2). What was found in their study was people with low MAOA activity drastically increase the risk of having an antisocial personality disorder, while people with high MAOA only gradually develop the risk (Tabury 3). Having an antisocial personality disorder be in your genetic makeup would not make the person having it at fault. If it was in ones genetic makeup, then it would not be possible to actually convict someone in court and they would have to be considered not medically sane. The MAOA gene is found in everybody s X chromosome, so while women have two copies of the X chromosome, men only have one so it s more common that men will have more problems with MAOA gene (Wolfson, par. 10). However, even though everyone has this gene, it does not cause a problem for most people. Lenin was physically incapable of leading the masses already controlled by a powerful monarch. Therefore, when the war led to Nicholas II stepping down from his throne, Lenin was finally given a shot at controlling Russia. Hence, the Russo Japanese war was incredibly significant to Lenin because it was the beginning of his soon to be domination of Russia. This was a significant event in Lenin s history because it showed how Russia began to fall and Lenin began gaining supporters. Bloody Sunday was also a major event for the Romanov Family because this was when his people turned against him and started rebelling, leading up to his murder. Lenin an inspirational leader of both Russia and the BolshevikParty, was in control of countless aspects of Russia and was prominent political figure. Russo Japanese War The Russo Japanese War lasted from 1904 until 1905, beginning with the Japanese initiating a surprise ambush on the Russians. This led to Nicholas II and his people growing apart (Trueman, 2016, para. 2). Many of his people were living in poverty and were anything but prepared to fight. Unfortunately, old men and young children were recruited to fight in the front line. Soon, the people realized how little power they had and the country began to collapse. The Joy Luck Club Lost in Translation Amy Tan said in the People Magazine in 1989 about her novel, The Joy Luck Club, The book could be about any culture or generation and what is lost between them. Amy Tan reveals that the mothers try to pass on their Chinese heritage and teach their American born daughters to avoid the mistakes the mothers made growing up in China. However, the daughters often see their mothers attempts at guidance as attempting to control their lives. The mother and daughter pair of Lindo and Waverly epitomize this relationship, where Lindo tries to integrate Chinese and American cultures into her own life and Waverly tries to both be independent and keep her Chinese heritage. Although Waverly and Lindo do not mend their cultural conflicts completely, their experiences with one another allow them to change and accept one another. Lindo and Waverly are two women who experienced very different childhoods, where the society and cultures of China and America pushed them in separate directions. Lindo grew up in China, where family is the single most important priority. At the young age of two, she is promised to the Huangs son for marriage (51) by her parents through a matchmaker. She is an obedient wife (56), learning to please Huang Taitai while planning a way to null the marriage arrangement. (66). The native people feel that they re obligated to take care of their past, they have to honor their ancestors no matter how long ago they have passed away. They believe that they should have the right to stop any behaviors that might desecrate their ancestors. • 19. Causes Of Hepatitis C Hepatitis C is a form of liver inflammation caused by the hepacivirus, a member of the Flaviviridae family. It is a highly infectious blood born disease most commonly transmitted by shared needles among drug users. According to the CDC it affects approximately 3.9 million Americans and unfortunately 2.7 million of those individuals are chronically infected. Because the signs and symptoms may not appear sometimes for up to 20 30 years, many people may die from the chronic illness as the disease has a higher treatment response in the acute stages. Along with shared needles, other routes of transmission include tattooing, body piercing, needle sticks in health care setting, and parental infections during pregnancy and child birth. Uncommonly, transmission can occur through intercourse with an infected person or sharing personal items, such as razors or toothbrushes, that may have infected blood on them. There has been question whether breast milk can cause infection, however, there is currently no evidence of this. Many people may not know they are infected since it can take years for symptoms to appear and the majority of signs and symptoms typically are related to other conditions such as stress or influenza. • 21. The Soviet War Of Russia Essay The Russian military is vastly superior to that of the Baltic States (Estonia, Lithuania, and Latvia) and Russia has an interest in occupying the Baltic States for strategic and political reasons. A large minority of the population of the Baltics is ethnically Russian, installed in the area after Soviet occupation of the Baltics after the Second World War. Also, Russian forces near the Baltics outnumber Baltic and NATO forces in the area. Kaliningrad, a Russian enclave between Poland and Lithuania, is the headquarters of Russia s Baltic fleet (Meyer). The desired military end state for the United States is that Russia is incapable or unwilling to invade the Baltics, and the Baltics are assured of this. We are interested in how United States military assets may be brought to bear in order to achieve Baltic security from Russia. We assert that Baltic security may be enhanced by increasing the presence of United States military forces in the Baltics. Russia s center of gravity is their military strength relative to the Baltic States and NATO forces stationed in the area. This center of gravity has the twin critical capabilities of the abilities to invade the Baltic States, and the ability to intimidate and influence the Baltic population. Russia s critical requirements are a strong military, their geographic nearness to the Baltics, the element of surprise, and Nuclear weapons. Of these, their element of surprise and their relative military strength are the most ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I decided to use this known fact from the Human Biology thirteenth edition textbook by Sylvia S. Mader and Michael Windelpecht due to the fact that not many people know or even care to think about it that is unless it happened to them or someone in their own circle. In order to understand how to prevent and test for a birth defect you need to understand some common definitions and words that can be used while reading about the topic. For starters, as stated in the merriam webster dictionary, the medical definition of defect is a lack or deficiency of something necessary for adequacy in form or function. Another word that is used a lot when talking about this subject matter is test and testing. Based on the medical definition a test is a diagnostic procedure for determining the presence or nature of a condition or disease or for revealing a change in function. From this definition you can see how the word test is also used in medical vocabulary to see what is wrong with a patient so the doctors can determine what to do next. The last term that I want to explain briefly before continuing is one that people might get confused with, it is the word prevent. Although it might seem like an easy word people still confuse it with the act of curing someone. Essay Analysis of Great Expectations by Charles Dickens Analysis of Great Expectations by Charles Dickens Charles Dickens, the revolutionary 19th century novelist, wrote a bildungsroman of Phillip Pirrip (Pip) and the reality of his own Great Expectations in his pursuit to become a gentleman. In Chapter 8, the reader is introduced to Miss Havisham and Estella and this is where Pip first becomes dissatisfied with the life at the forge. There were many writers in Dickens day whose works are no longer read; this is possibly because Dickens did something idiosyncratically different from his contemporaries. The plot of Great Expectations is quite complex, yet it is the way that Dickens handles the various elements of the plot that makes the novel appealing. For instance, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By introducing this character, the questions of why she is withdrawn and how this is related to the subplot concerning the convicts are left unanswered. It is not until during Chapters 40 42 that the reader finds out about Miss Havisham s connection with the convicts. Dickens is deliberately vague about Miss Havisham s past. This allows him later to introduce the idea that she might be Pip s benefactor. From the first point of contact Dickens is creating twists and turns later in the novel. The eccentricity and eeriness of Miss Havisham fascinates the reader, as she is one of fiction s strangest (Ch. 8 p. 46) women. Questions are posed in this chapter about the connection between her and Estella and why is she wearing bridal dress (Ch. 8 p. 50). The reader may assume several reasons but their innate inquisitiveness helps propel the novel forward. This device is used because of the structure of the novel. It was originally printed in weekly instalments. This means that Great Expectations does not have the structure of a conventional novel. Instead of moving towards a general climax, the story has many mini resolutions of the plot. Each new episode needed a cliffhanger type ending in order to ensure that the public would buy the next instalment. This has often been seen as a weakness of Charles Dickens novels as the story can become repetitive. An advantage of this is that the original reader, if having missed an issue, can have a ... The conflict between India and Pakistan is so big they are warning each other with Nuclear war impacted by physical geography. How has the physical geography of Southern Asia impacted the conflict between India and Pakistan since the 20th century? There are three major factors that are affecting the relationship between India and Pakistan relating to geography. These three factors are nature, history and religion that I will be writing about. • 27. Industrialization During The 19th Century Life in the 19th century changed rapidly due to the influences of the industrial revolution, which lead to the mass production of goods, making products more affordable for common people. Industrialisation lead to urbanisation and more people flocked from rural areas to towns creating more disease, and by the end of the 1800 s 80% of the population of Britain lived in cities. Steam powered cotton factories supplied half of the world and coal mining, in areas such as Newcastle, expanded to meet the demands of railway construction. Ship building increased and so did engineering. Farming was still big and machinery was easier to use and faster. Craftsman, blacksmiths and carpenters could be found in rural areas, and lace making was a popular industry there too. Factories were ill equipped but the conditions were bad. Children were regularly used as they were ideal to do jobs in small spaces and for cleaning. The state took over from the private, and law makers such as trade unions addressed and improved working conditions, particularly child labour. The 1833 factory act improved conditions for children and forbade factory owners from working children under 16 to work longer than 10 hours each day, and that children under 13 years were to get at least 2 hours of education per day. There also became a provide for inspectors. • 30. Youth Violence And Its Effect On Children Since the year 2000, youth violence has been one of the biggest concerns in almost every community. In my research I decided to evaluate the study of youth violence. Youth violence is said to start since the early days of childhood and lead onto the teenage years of a child. When talking about youth violence, the child may not only be an offender but they can be a victim of violence as well. Bullying, punching, slapping, kicking, teasing, and verbal abuse are all behaviors and forms of mistreatment that can harm someone both physically and emotionally. These acts can occur at home, school, afterschool programs, and even among friends. Some parents tend to overlook the importance of youth violence among their kids. In some cases the parents aren t even aware that their child might be either an offender or a victim of youth violence. Some parents at home try to talk to their children to make sure their kids aren t victim of youth violence and in the process they talk to them about the dangerous being violent towards others. In my research, I discovered that some of the causes to why kids are so violent is because of either the lack of parental attention, not given parental discipline, they are victims of abuse at home, or even taught to be violent by the games and movies they are exposed to by the media. Which is why now a days the community tries to work together to create a safe environment for their children. They try to involve the children into programs that teaches them ... The problem that many politicians seem to forget is that the fast food workforce is not only made up of high school and college kids anymore; the Federal Bureau of Labor Statistics published a survey which found that the median age of fast food workers were 29.2 years. Many of the employees that are in their late twenties and early thirties are supporting a family on minimum wage which results in an annual income of $15,000 to $20,000 per year, which is below the poverty level for a family of four. Because of their low income, many families also rely on public assistance. The Role Of Ethical Issues In Nursing To Immunize or Not To Immunize, That Is the Ethical Question An Ethical Introduction Aldo Leopold said Ethical behavior is doing the right thing when no one else is watching even when doing the wrong thing is legal . We, as nurses, have access to intimate parts of patient s lives, and are looked upon to help educate patients in their decisions towards appropriate healthcare. Why would we treat those choosing to not be immunized any different? We would only cause them to retreat into other avenues of schooling, employment or even healthcare. What then is the answer? The truth then becomes the vital role in the argument, whichever way the argument may lean. Veracity or truth, as the four ethical principle, becomes the deciding factor. Picasso plays with shadows and contrast to not only give the painting depth, but also as a form of symbolism between the darkness and gloom of the massacre and the light peaking through cracks which represents hope that is unattainable. The contrast also adds emphasis on areas of focus such as with the bull at the far left and the floating head. Lines are also used for this purpose, as they direct the viewers eye primarily to the horse near the center of the painting. There are many subtle hidden messages within this piece that leave a haunting impression on the viewer. The bull and horse are both essential parts of Spanish culture and play important roles in the meaning of this painting. They illustrate both the brutalization and dehumanization of humanity during wartime, as well as the animalistic response that all living things experience when coming into close proximity with fear and death. Furthermore, the bull represents Spain itself, which still stands, triumphant and peaceful after such a brutal and horrendous act of violence. The overall attitude of the painting however is less optimistic, with brutality and chaos being the general tone. These people with incurable diseases and conditions do not want to live the last days of life in a hospital room in immense pain, attached to tubes and machines that are the difference between life and death. Many people do not understand the perspective from a patient s point of view unless, they are in this situation, in the unbearable pain that makes each day painful. This was the case for Brittany Maynard, a twenty nine year old woman who was diagnosed with glioblastoma. She was told that she only had six months to live because of her terrible tumor, there is no cure for her disease and she new she would die. The best option for her situation seemed to be assisted suicide. Brittany and her husband moved to Oregon, which is one of the few states that has legalized assisted suicide in order to pursue her wish of ending her life. According to Brittany I ve discussed with many experts how I would die from it and it s a terrible, terrible way to die. So being able to choose to go with dignity is less terrifying. Being able to have a choice and dignity does not make patients weak and does not mean that they are giving up, it simply means they do not want to remember life to be painful and have their family members have this as their last ... The only one with enough arrogance (Alexie, 2009, p. 217). Although part of his self image is still tied to his tribe, Arnold sees himself as independent from them. He has a sense of who he is from his choice to leave the reservation and the qualities that allowed him to do so. The experiences Arnold encountered along the way such as exclusion, individuals with highly independent self construals, and the deaths of his led to changes in his self concept. Another topic of importance to the book is collective identity. Matsumoto and Juang (2013) describe identity as the way individuals understand themselves and are recognized, while collective identity is more specifically about people s association with social categories (p. 357). Identity is considered fluid as it can change depending on the situation, its players, and each individual s point of view (Matsumoto Juang, 2013, pp.357 358). This explains how Arnold s identity appears to morph throughout the book . For instance, Arnold s early identification as a poor Indian kid juxtaposes Arnold s later feelings of ... Bad hair, lack of sleep, abundance of homework, and an absence of money have the tendency to put a damper on some people s days, among other things. Too many times, though, in today s society things are taken for granted. Imagine not having a place to sleep, having no means of education, or having all hard earned funds taken by the government, not even leaving enough to feed the family. This is how it was for Englanders in the 1800s. The condition of the working class in 19thcentury England was, without a doubt, disgusting and miserable. The main difference between them is that a dial up modem sends and receives data through a fixed telephone line while a wireless modem sends and receives data through radio waves. Like a GSM mobile phone, a GSM modem requires a SIM card from a wireless carrier in order to operate. Generally, computers use AT commands to control modems. Reading of message from the SIM card inserted into the modem is done by sending the appropriate AT command to the modem. In addition to the standard AT commands, GSM modems support an extended set of AT commands. These extended AT commands are defined in the GSM standards. Some common basic SMS related AT Commands are shown in table below: [pic] Fig.2. AT Commands C. Display Unit One of the most common devices attached to an 8051 is an LCD display. Determinism, libertarianism and compatibilism are three significantly different views on where unaccountability might stop and where free will and moral responsibility begin. Determinism is the strict opinion that every action and decision is the cause of an event, genetics or the environment prior to that action. Quite the opposite is libertarianism, which happens to be the genuine belief in free will as well as the denial of universal causation. Finally, deep self compatibilism meshes both of these stand points together and introduces the idea that one s action can be free if it stems purely out of personal, authentic desire. The chorus of the song don t murder me implies that the dire wolf has come to take the man s life. The dire wolf symbolizes all the wrong that a person has done in the past, and the likelihood that cruel retribution will come one day. These examples outlined above have shown that the dire wolf has maintained its fascination for human beings long after its extinction.
