Sir,
In 2011 the giant retailer Target got in trouble for sending coupons for baby clothes
and nursery furniture to a teenage girl. The father drove to the local Target and
complained to the manager. Two weeks later, the father called Target to apologize.
After a long talk with his teenage daughter, he found out she was indeed pregnant.
Not only was Target able to predict the teenager was pregnant ... but they also
forecasted what month the girl was likely to deliver her baby.
We cannot all help but notice the steady decline in our market share for the past
consecutive 11 quarters. Annual revenue has shrunk by 40% since we last saw a
sales growth. Despite all the cost cutting measures that we have implemented we
still continue to see a steep decline in sales. To make matters worse we do not know
why, we do not know how and do not have any insight on what the competition is
doing and how they are doing it. I m proposing that we adopt a business intelligence
system. This will allow us to see the state of our overall processes, and pinpoint areas
of improvement or elimination. In short, business intelligence will allow us to better
analyze the organization s plans and results. I will provide us with insight into what is
working correctly at the same time identifying potential problem areas

4. Struggle between Freudian Personalities in Joseph Conrad
s...
Heart of Darkness, is not only an intense tale of pursuit, but also a psychological
roller coaster as, through the characters of the story, Joseph Conrad shows us a
powerful struggle between the Freudian personalities of id, ego and superego. The
main characters of the novel, Marlow and Kurtz are mainly identified with the id and
the super ego type of personalities, and throughout the novel, these characters are
placed in intense situations which makes them question their own beliefs and
reactions, and ultimately their human personality. Hence, in between the characters,
not only is there a battle in the physical sense, but also on the meta physical level.
This leads to a psychological imbalance between the human personalities of both the

This part of our mind is responsible for our civilized behavior in the society, and our
judgments based on what our parents or our society has taught us to be good or
bad. The superego is essential to lead a civilized life, but also inhibiting excessive
superego can be harmful as it is not good to always hold back your needs or
wishes. The id is the forbidden component of our psych. It deals with our
innermost wants and fantasies. It comprises of all our immediate and non sensible
wants, and mostly, one feels anxious or tensed if a person is ruled majorly by his
id, and his needs are not met at once. The id is the morally unacceptable part of our
mind, and thus, it isn t the part of our psych that we exhibit in public. In this story,
the Europeans, who believe in the White Man s Burden are initially identified with
the superego, as they are known to be the civilized race, whose main goal is to
civilize the backward races of the world . They live in the clutches of stringent
societal rules, where their behavior is completely mechanized and controlled by
their superego and where even the slight hinting of their inner wishes or wants in
public is regarded as preposterously rude. But on complete contrast, the tribal s from
the African jungles are identified majorly with the id, as they are completely immune
to having a civil code of conduct, and instead follow there

Vertical Zonation and the Rocky Shore
According to Yonge (1949), the zoning of both plants and animals within the
narrow vertical limits of a rocky shore is one of the most striking features about
shore life. It is noticeable particularly where sessile organisms (such as barnacles)
occur in abundance on the boundaries of their vertical distribution, as they form a
conspicuous line (Boaden Seed, 1985). The author has also been particularly
impressed by clear zonation patterns of brown algae often to be found on rocky
shores. Precise and universal demarcation of these zones is impossible (Brehaut,
1982), but a comprehension of the vertical zonation of rocky shores is clearly ... Show

At mid shore, for example, exposure is 50 percent of the time to air, and 50 percent
to water. This area forms the eulittoral zone, and a greater number of species are
found here than in the littoral fringe. Communities found in this zone must be
tolerant of short periods of exposure to air between the tides, although they almost
always require regular submersion or at least a thorough wetting (Tait and Dipper,
1998). Species include barnacles, mussels, and other sessile forms such as oysters
(Boaden Seed, 1985). The barnacles commonly belong to such genera as Balanus,
Chthamalus, and Tetraclita. There is a strong tendency (Stephenson Stephenson,
1972) for this zone to be further divided into two or three subzones. In lower
subzones, barnacles may be obliterated or overshadowed by other sedentary forms;
but in the higher eulittoral subzones barnacles are greatest in concentration, and show
dominance. The eulittoral is bounded at the top end by the disappearance of
barnacles in any significant quantity (Stephenson Stephenson, 1972).
The lowest part of the shore is uncovered at extreme low water spring tide, never at
neap tides, and is known as the sublittoral zone. Where wave action is particularly
strong, this zone may not even be uncovered except when the lowest spring tides
coincide with calm weather. As such, this zone is exposed to the air for very short
periods, and for a very small proportion, of time. In many places, it never fully
6. The Television Show Duck Dynasty
We wanted to know how the television show Duck Dynasty became such a big part
of popular culture especially in the field of merchandising. We looked through web
articles about how the Robertson s family created an empire, what visual
merchandising is and its effects on Duck Dynasty merchandising, the politics they
have encountered so far, and the stereotypes they have revised and created. We
found that visual merchandising is one of the reasons the Robertson is so
successful, and that politics don t faze them; for they follow the Lord in all things.
We also found that the stereotype of the country boy has turned to redneck and that
beards is no longer just a symbol of masculinity but one of success thanks to the
Robertson family and ZZ Top. Based on the findings we are able to say that none of
these stereotypes are changing any time soon, or that the Duck Dynasty television
show and its merchandising are going to stop making huge profits for a very long
time in the future.
A Merchandising Empire: Duck Dynasty
In the last decade there has been a major change in popular culture concerning the
south and the subculture of rednecks. The cause of this change is none other than the
reality television show Duck Dynasty. This show has not only taken television by
storm, but also merchandising industries. Why and how Duck Dynasty has taken
over popular culture? To answer both questions we are going to look at four different
areas; subcultures supported by the show, how the
7. The Fact Of The Resurrection Of Jesus
The change of Jesus disciples from a frightened, despondent, frustrated band to the
courageous preachers of Jesus as Messiah and the instrument of salvation was
triggered by his resurrection.
It was because God had risen up Jesus that the apostles could perform mighty works.
The Fact of the Resurrection The Gospels corroborate more than a few facts. First,
Jesus was dead. Second, the faiths of the disciples were also gone. A third fact is
that the disciples dissuasion and frustration was swiftly changed into poise and
conviction. A fourth fact is the empty tomb which is witnessed to by all the Gospels
and it is taken as fact in Paul s creedal declaration. A fifth historic fact is the
resurrection faith. Belief in the resurrection of ... Show more content on

The distinctive conflation of the roles of Servant and Messiah is thus stimulated.
Jesus as Messiah accomplishes the role of the suffering servant.
Jesus has suffered as Messiah, he is now dignified as Messiah, and he need yet come
as Messiah to bring the eschatological conclusion.
The Beginning of the Resurrection
Thus the resurrection of Jesus has certainly brought in a new age, the messianic age
while the Age to come remains in the upcoming. The resurrection of the dead actually
remains an event at the last day, but because of the resurrection of Christ this
eschatological event has already begun to unfold. The early church found itself living
in a pull stuck between the already realized and expectation. We are living in the age
of fulfillment but, the day of consummation stands yet in the future.
The Kingdom of God
The dominant subject of Jesus preaching was the Kingdom of God. While this
leitmotif is not characterized as one of the fundamental themes of the first apostolic
preaching, it is not altogether lacking.
While the early disciples refer to the Kingdom of God it is not clear whether the
position is to the eschatological order or not. Now and then the Kingdom of God has
become almost a substitute for the
8. The Cold Equations By Tom Godwin
Our group selected the short story The Cold Equations by Tom Godwin as a basis
for our play. This play is about a girl named Marilyn who was ejected from the
Stardust aircraft. Our group selected this play so we could create an exciting,
interesting, and a suspenseful alternative ending. We titled our alternative ending
The Slightly Warmer Equation because of the happy and light storyline that our
play has in comparison to the dark and dreadful storyline of The Cold Equations.
The reason we did this was so we could convey to our audience that Marilyn was
getting closer to solving her own life equation and living happily ever after. The
main conflict in the play is that Marilyn has floated onto the Octagon spacecraft
belonging to aliens. She is then discovered by an alien named Malron, her life is
put in jeopardy, and to her surprise she begins to have romantic feelings for him. By
the end of the play Marilyn accepts her feelings for Malron and they live happily
ever after. Our play uses the conventional elements of drama by having a clear setting,
an identifiable protagonist and antagonists, a pyramidal pattern, and an entertaining
and positive storyline for our audience. An essential piece to making our story
understanding and entertaining was that we needed to include the proper elements of
setting: place, time, and environment. The play s setting takes place aboard the
Octagon alien spacecraft. As for the time period of our play, we used exposition in the
9. Chocolat Film Themes
French film writer and director Claire Denis intriguing film White Material (2009)
reprises themes that have been previously portrayed in her earlier motion picture
Chocolat (1987), including the colonial and post colonial era of France in the African
continent and the effects that these processes have on the characters. In addition,
subjects such as violence, race and cultural identity can all be found within the film.
The title itself refers to a term used to describe whitepeople and any material
belonging coming from them. Denis expertly interprets these themes through the
eyes of Maria Vial (Isabelle Huppert), her son Manuel (Nicolas Duvauchelle) and the
Boxer (Isaach De Bankole), which will be the main focus of this essay.... Show more

Maria s fierce and determined character is juxtaposed with the men s fragility. With
her father in law being an invalid, her ex husband s wishes to leave the plantation,
and her son s laziness and indifference, Maria takes on the responsibility of the
coffee plantation and tries to apply this to every aspect of her life. However, the
most prominent of the male figures in Maria s life is Manuel, a child born in
Africa of French parents. Contrary to his mother s sense of belonging in the French
African colony, Manuel seems to be more aware that their presence is unwelcome
and makes no apparent effort to make that presence known. Although he is a native,
the country doesn t like him as mentioned in one of the film s sequences during a
conversation between the African mayor and Maria. Manuel undergoes a disturbing
transformation after being assaulted by two children who rob and humiliate him,
leaving him naked and vulnerable. This event drives him out of his isolated world
and towards violence as he shaves off his hair and attempts to join the young rebel
militia. The once beautiful French boy s mental and emotional change is established
during the sequence in which he forcefully shoves his blonde hair into one of the
servant s mouth after she calls him a dog. Manuel s decent into madness runs parallel
with the downfall of the coffee plantation. Paradoxically, both seem to be Maria s
weakness. As she continuously attempts to control everything in her life, she cannot
bring herself to control her son or to prevent destruction and chaos from taking over
the coffee plantation. In turn, Manuel may be a frightening symbol of the inevitable
self destruction of race

The following proposal summary has been prepared by the Information Technology
(IT) team describing a new information system required by our Advanced Services
Network Consulting Engineers (NCEs). The information provided has been
summarized and is intended to provide an overview of the proposed project.
Executive Summary
Within our organization we have a group of Network Consulting Engineers (NCEs)

contracted enterprise and service provider clients. On a number of recent occasions, it
has come to light that one NCE is struggling with a design or planning issue that has

In doing so we discovered some specific deficiencies that can be addressed in the
proposed solution. At this time, we have neither formal procedures nor tools for
cataloging and storing NCE design solutions for future reference. This means the
NCEs are duplicating some of their efforts. This duplication of effort is causing an
increase in solution design time and support costs as well as losing best practices
information among NCEs. To mitigate these issues the following business
requirements have been designed into the proposed information system:
? A data base to store design solutions as they are completed and implemented
? The ability for the NCE to perform keyword solutions againsthe data base to identify
previously developed and implemented solutions.
? A web based application to access the database.
? Functionality that includes adding new solutions, modifying existing solutions,
collaborattion on designs in progress, and the ability to delete obsolete designs
? The system will also provides statistics and reporting capabilities to monitor
database usage and performance

14. A State s Natural Resources Wealth Influence Its Economic...
How does a state s natural resource wealth influence its economic development? For
the past fifty years, versions of this question have figured prominently in debates
over dependency theory, economic dualism, a proposed New International Economic
Order, East Asia s success, and Africa s collapse. Since the late 1980s, economists
and political scientists have produced a flood of new research that bears witness to
this question. There is now strong evidence that states with abundant resource wealth
perform less well than their resource poor counterparts, but there is little agreement
on why this occurs.
Natural resources undoubtedly play an important role in the economy of many
countries. Whether their contribution to development is beneficial or detrimental is a
contested and difficult question to answer. Arguably countries like Australia, U.A.E.
and Norway have gained enormously over long periods from their natural resources,
others like Iran and Russia have gained in economic growth terms but maybe at the
expense of institutional development, while in some countries, such as Angola and
Sierra Leone, natural resources have been at the heart of violent conflicts with
devastating effects for society. With many developing countries being highly resource
dependent, a deeper understanding of the sources and solutions to the potential
problem of natural resources is highly relevant.
The disappointing performance of resource rich economies, especially those with a

famous personalities are really fond of buying new and sports cars they buy new
cars after sometime their taste get changed then they buy new one and those used
cars they never use after that. So we buy those used cars and sell on genuine price

happy. The best thing is that the location of this showroom is near the Highpoint
shopping centre. It is very crowded and famous place. On the weekend most of the
people they come and have a look on these cars. If they indeed like then they
definitely buy. Instead of warranty we provide first two services free of cost. For
running a successful business we have to make a strong strategic plan, with the help

This will not be one more lament for the sad state of contemporary American poetry.

For poetry to achieve cultural currency, in both senses of that term, it may have to
find ways of reconciling the energies of romantic lyricism to overtly rhetorical
ambitions and strategies.
It will take me a long time to get to those ambitions because I first have to clarify
plausible ways of using the concept of poetry s relations to a public world, and then
I have to use that discussion in order to dramatize the problems of mediated culture
that demand those new strategies. Criticism now seems divided between two basic
understandings of how poets can evade romantic lyricism and directly address
public worlds. The first is fundamentally agenda based. Here poetry s relation to the
public world consists in its efforts to offer timely statement or testimony responding
to pressing social issues, usually as an effort to represent the interests of a specific
community. The second option forgoes this emphasis on specific thematic concerns
in order to stress instead the overall stances that poets develop. From this perspective
it matters less what you say than how you manage to cultivate an ethos that is
perceived as representing the
18. Analysis Of Paul Auster s The Country Of Last Things
The way characters act in novels can typically reflect the actions of our own world
today. In The Country of Last Things by Paul Auster, situations present themselves
in the story that normally show how humans would react in our world today. The
protagonist of the story, Anna Blume, as well as many minor characters introduce
the realities of dealing with real problem. As we explore Anna s journey of finding
her missing brother, William, readers encounter the tragedies that a dystopian world
has to offer. At every corner, events such as theft, famine, and death exist. Her
expedition was a rough one that leads to trouble physically and mentally. Food, one
of the most essential items to keep humans alive, is scarce; the people adapt to the
famine and survive on the basis of preserving the livelihood of their own family.
Theft has become so rampant that no one even considers it a crime anymore and
people welcome death with open arms through suicide or assassination. Looking for
shelter becomes a difficult task when Anna tries to find a place to call home because
it would only last momentarily. As a result, the novelshows the true nature and well
being of humans and tackles the idea that we act based on situations that would only
benefit ourselves. Death is an ever occurring event that happens rampantly throughout
the novel. The grandson of Dr.Woburn, Willie, shows his reaction to the death of a
family member. His grandfather, being one of the influential beings in his life,

more specifically on money laundering. The strain theory will be discussed in
further detail to show how it explains money laundering. Control theory will also be
discussed to show how it does not explain money laundering. The two theories will
help the reader the understand why it is the crimes are committed. First, I will give
an overview of what white collar crimeis. I will then explain money laundering
specifically. I will also briefly discuss the statute currently in place for money
laundering and what is being done to prevent it from happening. Then I will connect
money laundering to the movie American Hustle. This will allow the reader to
connect the crime to a modern day example. Finally, I will end with my conclusion
and shed light on the answered questions and challenges on the topic.

The statute regarding money laundering is Section В§ 1956(a)(1). To prove the
statute has been violated, The defendant conducted or attempted to conduct, financial
transaction (Strader 295). This means that there has to be sufficient evidence to show
the person was conspiring or has actually committed the act of money laundering.
Although this is in place, money laundering is still happening. Money laundering is
not a crime that takes place in one location, but rather all over the world. There
should more done to enforce the monetary transactions of companies. I believe if
there were more audits on corporations, more white collar criminals would be caught.
Because most places are not strictly monitored, they can get away with money

As for Chaucer s individual identity, should this story be taken as figurative or

Conclusion
Shipping derivatives contracts in the form of Container Freight Swap Agreements and
Freight Swap Options are risk mitigating measures especially in the uncertain world
of shipping business. To all stakeholders in the shipping business in Ghana and other
parts of the world, the use of shipping derivatives can ensure sustainability in the
rather volatile period in which ship owners and charters find themselves.

22. Blaiming the Paparazzi
In 1997, Princess Diana died in a car crash in Paris, which was blamed on the
paparazzi that were chasing her. Because the accident happened in France, no British
charges can be laid against the photographers. However, nine were charged with
manslaughter in France, but the charges were thrown out in 2002. Three
photographers Jacques Langevin, Christian Martinez and Fabrice Chassery were
convicted of invasion of privacyfor taking pictures of Princess Diana and were each
fined one euro in 2006. Of course it is obvious that the public is intensely curious to
know more about celebrities, but don t you think celebrities have the right to be
private?
First of all, let us define who the paparazzi are and what they do for a living. A
paparazzo is a photographer who takes pictures of athletes, actors, celebrities,
politicians etc... on a daily basis. As a matter of fact, paparazzi s tend to chase
celebrities wherever they go. Whether it was to the Academy Awards, shopping at
a mall, or even going to the gym. Nowadays the paparazzi are going way beyond
the limits and are becoming more likely bizarre. They are competing against each
other and are trying to have the best exposed pictures of celebrities they could get at
any cost. They don t care if they hurt or stress celebrities. They simply want to be the
best.
California s first civil anti paparazzi law was signed on January 1st, 1999. This law
protects celebrities from physical invasions and trespassing. This law wasn t enough,

American child psychiatrist Leo Kanner considered 11 children might have Autism.
The children had of difficulty behaving normally in social interactions, difficulty in

resembled Kanner s descriptions. The children he studied spoke like grownups and
did not have echolalia as a linguistic problem. He also mentioned that many of the
children with Autism were clumsy in terms of fine motor skills and this not present
in normal children. Next Bruno Bettelheim studied the effect of three therapy

to coldness of their mothers. This lead to hypothesis by Kanner and Bettelheim that

24. Symbolism In Romeo And Juliet
William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet
is an endearing play that encompasses symbols of the World of the Everyday and
the World of Romance until the couple s tragic demise. Shakespeare juxtaposes The
World of the Everyday and The World of Romance to demonstrate the type of people
Romeo and Juliet are through various means. The reader sees this through
Shakespeare s use of age, time, morals, speech, variation, and settings. Throughout
the play, Romeo and Juliet are separated whether it be due to their rival households
or their conflicting mindsets. Shakespeare has the ability to warp time throughout his
plays and we clearly see this in the three day time span of Romeo and Juliet s affair.

In Act 1 Capulet says My child is yet a stranger in the world; She hath not seen the
change of fourteen years... (1.2.269 270). This quote indicates that Lord Capulet
still views Juliet as a child who is unable to be romantically involved with anyone.
Paris rebuts this statement by saying Younger than she is happy mothers made.
(1.2.273). This conveys that when a person is in love they will mature rapidly in
the world of romance. This also demonstrates that Juliet is a very mature woman
due to her experiences during her relationship. Shakespeare also juxtaposes the
two worlds through materiality and spirituality. In the world of the every day
Lord and lady Capulet arranged Juliet to marry Paris due to his financial state.
Lord Capulet believes that the perfect match for Juliet would be Count Paris. He
makes this decision because Paris is kinsmen to Prince Escalus and therefore has a
good social status and is very wealthy. In the world of romance, Juliet seeks Friar
Laurence s guidance in her relationship because especially in the beginning she had
an agape kind of love. In many plays written by Shakespeare the Friar is seen as the
mediator who solves the problems and in Romeo and Juliet, Friar Laurence is seen
as a counselor to the couple. Due to her relationship with Friar Laurence Juliet
Agape love develops. In act 1, Juliet states ...For saints have hands that pilgrims
hands do touch, and palm to palm is holy palmers kiss. (1.5.713 714). This quote
conveys that Juliet is a very religious person and wants her love to incorporate a
healthy amount of spirituality. In the play Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare clearly
conveys how a person s sense of age and morals are different in the world of every
day and the world of

Debunking the Modern Family Myth
According to Stephanie Coontz in What We Really Miss About The 1950 s , the
1950 s were symbolic in terms of the nuclear American family. The typical nuclear
American family structure consisted of an unemployed stay at home mom, working
dad, a child or two, and a suburban home. In her article, she refers to the 1950 s as
being the optimal time period for family s where the ideology in television shows
such as Father Knows Best and Leave It To Beaver was not just a depiction of how
life was supposed to be lived, but an accurate portrayal of how life actually was back
then. Today, the once commonly known family structure has been modified and

Today s culture seems to not be able to accept anything that is out of the norm. As a
result, gay marriage has been under constant backlash due to the idea that the true
marriage and a real family is constituted by the union of a male and a female.
Although the model family was previously seen as the union of a male and female
back in the 1950 s, things change over time and with it news things are formed.
With gay couples increasingly coming out and demanding their rights, the definition
of the traditional family is being altered and along with it the disappearance of
some American myths and traditions. We now live in the year 2013, and the same
ideals that we possessed back in the 1950 s no longer function the same way today;
many people are choosing not marry until a later age, and the divorce rate is at the
highest it s ever been, so how do we really define what a real and traditional
American family is and who should be able to get a say in who gets to marry or not.
With gay marriage becoming an increasingly popular discussion topic there exist
constant feuding between which is right or not. We must think through it logically
and ask ourselves: how does a homosexual couple not constitute as much of a family
as a heterosexual couple? Gay marriage in American culture but more closely
religious culture is primarily not accepted but in Evan Wolfson s What is Marriage ,
what really constitutes a marriage these days

28. The First Crusade Start And Finish
When did the first Crusade start and finish:
The first Crusade began in 1095 AC and ended four years later in 1099 AC.
Key People:
Some of the other major Crusade leaders were: Alexius I Comnenus, Godfrey of
Bouillon, Raymond IV of Toulouse, Stephen of Blois, Peter the Hermit, Baldwin of
Boulogne and Bohemond and his nephew Tancred.
One of the key people from the first Crusade was Alexius I Comnenus. He was born
in 1057 AC and died in 1118 AC. Alexius was a Byzantine emperor from 1081 1118
AC (until he passed away, in 1118 AC). In his time he established the Komnenian
dynasty and helped to strengthen the empire after it had been defeated many times by
the Normans and the Turks, this happened in the 11th century.
Another key figure in the First Crusade was Peter the Hermit, he was an Amiens
priest. He was born in 1050 AC and died in 1131 AC.
Godfrey of Bouillon was a leader of the first crusade and a medieval Frankish knight.
He served as these from 1096 until 1100 AC.
Raymond IV of Toulouse was a very important person in the sieges of Nicaea,
Antioch and Jerusalem. When he was at the end of his life he started a battle to take

While the military argued against the .276 caliber, Garand s .276 caliber design was
recommended for adoption on January 4, 1932.
On February 25, 1932, the Army Chief of Staff, General Douglas MacArthur, put
an end to the caliber issue, stating quot;this change will introduce an element of
chaos, confusion and uncertainty which, when magnified under war conditions,
would more than counteract the beneficial effect of any semi automatic rifle. quot;
With this statement, MacArthur ordered the development of a .30 caliber rifle.
This did not delay Garand s work because he had already developed a design to fire
the .30 caliber on his own time in anticipation of such an event. Two more years
would pass before the rifle was adopted as the United States Rifle, M1 on January
9, 1936. The United States became the first country in history to adopt a semi
automatic rifle as its standard military rifle after this event. Problems beset the M1
as it was first being issued. They occurred in the area where expanding gases of the
fired bullets were tapped from the barrel to operate the rifle and the rifle suffered
stoppages after firing only seven of the eight rounds in its clip.
The M1 s early performance problems gave it such a bad reputation that after the
1939 National Matches, the National Rifle Association was able to get Congress to
look at the problem. A major redesign was ordered on October 26, 1939 and Garand
redesigned the rifle to operate with gases tapped from a gas
30. Defining Collaborative Virtual Workspaces Essay
1.Introduction
Hamilton Beazley once said Knowledge is the new capital, but it s worthless unless it
s accessible, communicated, and enhanced (Beazley cited in Field, 2003). With the
advent of all the possible tools and technologies available, especially on the internet
today, accessing, communicating and enhancing knowledge has become so much
easier.
This paper aims to discuss two of these tools and technologies, namely collaborative
virtual workspaces and microblogging. These tools and technologies will be defined,
how they are used, some of their advantages and disadvantages as well as how they
can be utilised in Knowledge Management and Knowledge Management processes.

2.1Defining Collaborative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2.2Using Collaborative Virtual Workspaces
Using collaborative virtual workspaces will generally benefit an organisation by
allowing the most skilled groups to work on projects no matter where they are. This
also means that expensive travel costs can be cut, since groups can work together at
any time of the day and don t need to physically meet up with one another. It also has
the effect that group members can work at times that suit them best as they will have
access to the information when they need it (ed. Young, 2010).
Group members thus aren t tied to conventional business working hours, which is
especially helpful if members are working together internationally. They decide when
it is most convenient for them and don t have to worry about the availability of others.
These virtual workspaces can also provide users with a sense of accomplishment,
since they get recognition for their work and efforts as well as allow them to be part
of the decision making process. If tasks are to be completed interdepartmentally,
group members can their creativity, ideas, and knowledge with members of other
departments. The virtual workspaces thus allow for information to be shared more
freely (Lesko, Russel Hollingsworth, 2012).
Whilst these workspaces can be of great benefit to organisations, it is also very
important to know when it is best not to resort to collaborating via these virtual
workspaces. Factors which may affect the appropriateness

When planning your schedule, be reasonable to your body: allow a rest period after
each lesson. A short, half an hour nap, or by eating and relaxing inside a cafe for an

biking on an extreme trail. Allow your muscles to regain lost energy and water: you
wouldn t want to suffer from a painful cramp while hiking, right?
You re there for a holiday, enjoy
Though you should dedicate yourself to honing your skills and learning from your
coach, bear in mind that you re there to enjoy. Sure, the club might hold tournaments,
allowing you to compete with others. However, the goal is to have fun and hone
your skills not to become the best tennis player in the bunch. If you re the type of
person who wants to win the grand prize of every tourney, try to settle down and just
enjoy the entire experience.

However, she breaks the rule of their arrangement, and she developed an emotional
feeling towards him. Edward indicates her that her dream of being with him cannot

34. Physical Therapy For Injuries
When an injury requires that a person immobilizes the area injured to prevent
movement during the healing process, it can cause muscles to atrophy. Tendons and
ligaments also become stiff and affect the range of motion when the injured area has
healed. An orthopedist will often send patients to an Injury Rehabilitation Clinic to
help the patient regain strength and range of motion, under the supervision of a
licensed physical therapist.
Physical therapy is used to reduce chronic pain, and to help restore physical function
once an injury has healed. Therapists will also explain to patients how to avoid
further injury in the future. They use manual therapy such as ultrasound, electrical
stimulation, and hot and cold therapy to relieve swelling

There can be no argument that schools must do all they can in their power to ensure
the safety and security of the children and staff members in their care. Without a
doubt all schools have some type of procedure in place to create and maintain a
healthy atmosphere. Everyone agreed a disordered and chaotic classroom was not an
environment in which students have grown and thrived. But debates have arisen with
the methods used to enforce control in the classroom and on schoolcampuses. Zero
tolerancewas adopted in schools in the early 1990s as a philosophy or policy that
mandated the application of predetermined consequences, most often severe and
punitive in nature, that are intended to be applied regardless of the gravity of

a relief because students who have broken the rules deserve to explain their actions.
For instance, if the student who had a positive drug test result was not allowed to

an alternative classroom, but he did not miss out on school instruction or home

Name of a Bogus War on Drugs
Purpose of the Study Purpose Statement: to reveal the problem of mass
incarceration of poor, black male, and increasingly female, young people in the name
of a bogus war on drugs from the 1980 s?90 s.
The purpose of this study is to expose the process of mass incarceration of poor black
males, and females increasingly, within the context of a fabricated war on drugs
which really is serving to keep the prison population booming by exploiting
traditionally disadvantaged minorities in society. Alexander rightfully calls this a
?redesign? of the old racial caste system in America which was supposed to have
been destroyed by the civil rights movement. The war on drugs in the 80s merely
became the newest vehicle by which to exploit the black community in this country.
The War on Drugs is really the rationale for racial control, which targets black men
and women and relegates millions of citizens to what Alexander calls a ?second class
status (Alexander, 2012).?
This is written as if not a call to action, then a call to galvanize. The purposes of this
report is to enable readers to through empirical and contextual description see the
war on drugs for what is really is: a public relations ploy whose end results are not

The mental change from unorthodoxy to orthodoxy that arose in Winston as a
result of the torture he underwent could serve as an another example of the Party s
power over its citizens. Who controls the past ... controls the future: who controls
the present controls the past...We, the Party, control all records, and we control all
memories (Orwell, 205 206). Because of all the power the Party amassed, it was
able to control the minds and memories of its citizens, altering their perceptions of
the past. However, unlike his comrades, Winston was occasionally able to rely on
his memories and realize all the lies the Party was telling; for example, while many
citizens believed the Party s claim that it had invented the airplane, Winston was able
to draw on a memory from his childhood (before the Party took over) and conclude
that the Party had not invented the airplane. The fact that the Party was able to
completely change his mind and remove his orthodoxy (ultimately resulting in
Winston s profession of love for Big Brother), shows the non consensual intimacy

38. The Main Factors Of The Communist Manifesto
The conditions that Karl Marx deems necessary for a communist revolution have not
manifested themselves in the present day, presenting challenges for communist
ideology. As our society has gradually been regressing further away from these
prerequisite conditions, a number of new factors have become present that challenge
the relevance of the Communist Manifesto. The first of these factors to be addressed
is globalization in the modern world. Ever since the age of imperialism, globalization
has served to spread capitalism and its effects across the world. This globalization did
not occur as predicted by Marx, with capitalism spreading across the world and
uniting the proletariat of every nation against the bourgeoisie (Munck 51). Instead, as
discussed earlier, globalization took a different route, forcing an interconnectedness
between every nation, and ultimately between their economies and politics. This
interconnectedness, led by the industrialized nations of the West throughout the past
two centuries, has generated a movement towards democracy and nationalism, as
opposed to revolution and supranational communism(Munck 52). While Karl Marx
predicted globalization and interconnectedness through capitalism, he did not predict
it to unfold as it did. Currently, this globalization has only worked to secure
capitalism, as the industrialized countries promote it throughout the rest of the world,
as seen repeatedly in U.S. intervention in foreign affairs. Consequently, this
39. Taking a Look at the Cold War
Prior to the attack on Pearl Harbor and United State s involvement in World War II,
we remained an isolationist country. Once World War II ended, the United States left
isolationism behind and began a quest to abolish communism during the Cold War,
involving many nations. Although the success of the containment policy in South
America and Asia was not identical, each were beneficial in decreasing communism
during the Cold War. Throughout the Cold War, communistic governments were
rising all over the world. In South American and Asia, blood was shed by those on
both sides of communistic views. Attempts were made on the lives of non
communistic leaders, some which did succeed, in an attempt by the communistic to
take over a countries government. With the help of neighboring countries; the United
Statesaided South America and Asian countries were supported by neighboring Asian
countries; most protestors were able to overthrow their communist governments and
gain their county back. In 1979, thick communism was brewing for the United State
s neighbor, Central America. A leftist group, called Sandinistas, had overthrown the
long reigned dictator of Nicaragua. Carter was president at the time and had turned a
blind eye to the event in order for a good relationship to remain between the United
States and the new Nicaraguan government. President Reagan, however, was not so
sycophant and accused the Sandinistas of recreating Nicaragua to be a military base
for communistic forces

former guitarist/vocalist Tom DeLonge, hit it big in 1999 with their third album,
Enema of the State, anchored by massive hits What s My Age Again and All the
Small Things. While these songs, along with fan favorites such as Dammit and
Man Overboard have been huge singles for the band, they have also released many
other singles that are just as worthy of attention. Here are six of Blink 182 s most
underrated singles and why you should take another listen. Number Six: Adam s
Song While not a slouch, this song always gets eclipsed by Enema of the State s
two other massive hit singles, What s My Age Again and All the Small Things.
But this song is so good in its own right. It deals with some serious issues, painting
a vivid picture of just what it is like to feel like you have nothing in your life worth
coming home to. The way Mark Hoppus tells this story in the first person just adds
to the personal feel of the song. Furthermore, the way his lyrics twist at the end to
give a slight glimmer of hope is the perfect ending to what is mostly a very dark song.

Mark Hoppus voice fits perfectly with that first verse, at the same time being both
haunting and nostalgic. Again, the imagery in the lyrics is vivid and really makes
you feel the pain they are feeling not with their significant other. Not to mention that
the line Don t waste your time on me/ You re Already/ The voice inside my head is
probably one of the most memorable lines in any Blink 182

They...
There are hundreds of thousand of genetically modified organisms out there all
around us and there helping people every day so let begin into the complex world of
genetically modified organisms.
We will start with a fun but also life changing organism the glowing cat. These
amazing organisms have a florescent glow due to a gene from a jellyfish but this also
made them immune to the FIV virus which is very similar the HIV virus so could
these cat possibly put a stop to the AIDS pandemic that is sweeping this world or
will they just make a mess. ( information livescience.com/15994 glow dark cats aids

Embryonic stem cells are isolated from the recipient organism and grown in tissue
culture flasks. These cells are then modified by inserting DNA containing the gene of
interest and sequences that enable the DNA to be inserted into specific sites in the
genome. These modified embryonic stem cells are then injected into the blastocyst
stage of a deВveloping recipient organism, and this blastocyst containing the gene of
interest is implanted into a surrogate mother. The resulting organisms express the
gene more efficiently.(http://science.education.nih.gov/supplements/nih9/bioethics

Now there is some consequences to making these organisms such as new allergens
and also the transfer of antibiotic resistant genes. It can also be a major source of
pollution because not all transgenic organisms are made on purpose like when
farmers use pesticides sometime that cases transgenic organisms and these can get
into the water and air causing the spread pollutants. These organisms can come in
any form of life plant ,animal ,protist but they cannot be mixed like you cannot mix a
plant with an animal or a protist and a plant they must have the same cell structure to
be able to mix the two organisms. Most transgenic organisms can not reproduce but
there are a few exceptions such as plants. This is caused by the change in the DNA
that generally prohibits reproduction.

Fear and Tension in The Whole Towns Sleeping and A Terribly Strange Bed
The essay i have written is a comparison of two short stories. One written by Ray

Wilkie Collins in 1856 and entitled A Terribly Strange Bed .
The Whole Towns Sleeping is about a middle aged spinster called Lavinia 37, who
goes to the cinema with her friends while a mysterious killer, is at large. She is fully
convinced that the killer would not strike again for another four weeks because a

The Whole Towns Sleeping is set in a small town in Illinois, U.S.A. A ravine runs
straight through the middle The ravine cut the town in two . The ravine is the
mysterious area of the town like a black dynamo , surrounded by secret mists and
odours of a rank greenhouse . The description of the ravine creates tension and shows
it to be a constant threat with its dark and gloomy images.
In A Terribly Strange Bed the main part of the story is set in the back street of a
seedy gambling house in Paris. The atmosphere is described, Here, there was
nothing but tragedy mute weird tragedy. The quiet in the room was horrible . This
builds up tension effectively, and creates an effective image of the gamblers as they
watch in silence, and their desperate need to win to survive.
Lavinia Nebbs the protagonist in The Whole Towns Sleeping is described as very
straight and slim , a typical spinster who has lots of confidence in herself, and quite
sensible, but occasionally craves excitement, which inevitably will lead her to make
errors in judgment.
She insists that she stays at her own home and declines several offers of a bed for
the night, even though The Lonely One is still on the loose, and despite warnings she
insists she will still walk home alone. These
43. Benefits And Benefits Of Employee Satisfaction
Benefits play a major role towards employee satisfaction and how they behave in an
organization. Employee satisfaction is necessary for the success of any organization.
Keeping employee satisfaction should be a priority for every employer. There are
many reasons why an employee can become discouraged with their jobs. Some
include: lack of communication within the organization, high stress levels, lack of
recognition, or limit opportunity for growth.

The number of sick days can be based on the years with the organization and how
high they stand with the organization. Paid personal days are time taken off from
work that the organization provides employees. The number of days is the same as
sick days which was your standing level with organization and how long they have
been with them. These days can be used for voting, conferences, and even going to
a healthcare professional. The paid personal days are paid at the employee s normal
base salary. Bereavement time is even under PTO. It is granted for attending funerals
and burials, making funeral arrangements, dealing with possessions and wills of the
deceased, and for paying respect to a family at visitation. You are usually given three
days of this time for an immediate family member and one day for other relatives or
friends. Organizations can give additional unpaid days if necessary. Immediate family
members include: spouse, parents, grandparents, children, grandchildren, and siblings.
Another benefit offered among organizations is the 401k retirement plan. It is a plan
for employees to accumulate retirement income and is the most flexible type of
retirement plan. It shows that the employers care about and value your employees
with a means for them to plan their future and encourages employees to save for
retirement. It has tax advantages for both employers and employees including tax
deferred growth for the employee and tax deductible advantages for the

the theme of how the important characters as vehicles to convey the theme familial
love and support. This is shown when the theme is set up through Maggie and
Frankie having broken relationship with their families, but it was resolved when they
came together.
Having familial love and support is important to an individual s wellbeing. Without
love, humans become isolated and unsatisfied. Therefore, by coming together, they
express a similar familial love although they are not biologically related and
experiences this fulfillment in life. The characters from the film demonstrated the
beauty of this relationship.

In Frankie s situation, he was alienated from his daughter for an unexplained reason.
This is shown when Frankie s letters along with his pain comes back to him with
Return to
Sender written on them. Frankie expresses the pain of rejection through his facial
expressions. Lighting was used in the film to portray this. Dim lighting was used
whenever
Frankie appears. His face was made barely visible with many shadows, one side
being darker than the other. This technique of the different shades on the character s
face symbolized the two sides of Frankie s life. The darker side symbolizes the
terrible past of his life while the brighter side symbolizes the bright future Frankie
will share with Maggie.
Dim lighting on the returned letters is also used to express the sad mood in the
scene. The letters are on the ground forcing Frankie to bend down to pick them up,
which symbolizes his daughter s rejection and his distant relationship with her. When
Frankie says to Maggie
I made many mistakes in my life. I just want to prevent you from doing the same it
demonstrates his regret. This shows the relationship progress between Frankie and
Maggie. He wanted to redeem himself by finding a replacement daughter Maggie.
In Million Dollar Baby , Frankie s life changed because of Maggie s entrance. They
each had personal needs due to the lack of familial love so personal fulfillments
developed to satisfy each other. Both Frankie

46. Nursing Budgeting Process Paper
Budgeting is an important managerial process to plan and control the finances of a
unit. There are multiple factors that impact the nurse budgeting process and each
organization has its own approach in the budgeting process. The nursing leader has
the fiscal responsibility to balance the long term fiscal needs of the organization with
the patients short term health care needs .The final budget is usually the result of a
compromise of these factors that affect the organization. s The purpose of this paper
is to discuss nursing budget in the context of health care nursing leadership. Question

The internal factors are those that impact the provision of health care on a daily
basis (Finkler et al., 2007). These factors are health care staffing, wages for regular
and temporary health care providers, medical equipment, office supplies and repair
and maintenance (Gallagher Hodge, 2012). These factors fall under the umbrella of
the operating budget. According to Dunham Taylor Pinczuk (2015), the operating
budget cover the day to day cost of the unit, and represents best guess of costs over
an incoming period (Dunham Taylor Pinczuk, 2015). Acording to Finkler, Kovner
and Jones (2007), the largest element of nursing operating budget is usually health
care staffing. The authors added that nursing personnel costs dominate largely
because the clinical care provided by nurses is essential to the process of providing
health care services (Finkler, et al., 2007). Health care staffing budget is prioritized
according to the immediate staffing need in the nursing unit. High acuity levels often
require an increase in the utilization of licensed nursing personnel , which relates to
increased salary expenditures. For example, the intensive care unit will generally
require a higher staff to patient ratio than a regular nursing floor and will incur a
much larger nursing expense than the regular

2, Opinion/Viewpoint Reliability Personal Opinion what they need to change
Type 2 diabetes is A very prominent issue in our community, usually it is older
people who get it, however it is becoming an increasing issue as younger children
are getting it. In 1996 approximately 81,000 people in New Zealand were known to
have Type 2 diabetes. By 2011, these numbers have dramatically increased to over
156,000 people in New Zealand diagnosed. 1 Overall, diabetes is becoming a
bigger and bigger threat to our community. Looking at america however it is
worse, Results from the 2007 2008 National Health and Nutrition Examination
Survey (NHANES), using measured heights and weights, indicate that an
estimated 16 to 17 percent of children and adolescents ages 2 to 19 years had a
BMI greater than or equal to the 95th percentile of the age and sex specific BMI

Ravana s eyes, one can see Indra as ruthless and savage . Indra laid waste to Asura
towns and set fire to beautiful villages. He captured cities, butchered all living things
and blazed huge funeral pyres. Anand brings in a contradiction in viewpoints here.

The issue of security has long been the preoccupation of international relations. It has
been argued that there is no common concept of security and disagreement in the
normative and methodological approach. In the simplest form, the core of security is
survival, and consequently a lack of threat. In terms of international relations, the
state has been the main referent object of security. Arnold Wolfers proposed the
definition of security as the (security), in an objective sense, measures the absence of
threats to acquired values, in a subjective sense, the absence of fear that such values
will be attacked . In the traditional approach, threats to security comes from a hard

For Ullman, a security threat was defined as an action or sequence of events that, (I)
threatens drastically . . . to degrade the quality of life for the inhabitants of a state, or
(II) threatens significantly to narrow the range of policy choices available. While the
state remains the referent object, Ullman s definition alludes to the necessity of
expanding the threats to beyond a military dimension. Under this understanding of
security, a state faces threats from a range of sources; which include external and
internal physical disturbance, but also events such as natural disasters, health
epidemics and a shortage of raw materials. As the Cold Warwas winding down, the
concept of a broadened or widened began to once again emerge in security
discourse. The end of the Cold War signalled a paradigm shift in international
relations for many scholars of security studies. Barry Buzan described the state of
international relations in 1991 with, strong signs that the security agenda among the
great powers will be much less dominated, perhaps not dominated at all, by political
/military issue. With the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, the risk of military
conflict was seen as low risk. A notion reflected after a 1990 NATOsummit meeting

The first known robot was created around 400 350 BC by the mathematician
Archytas and was a steam powered pigeon. Archytas constructed his bird out of
wood and used steam to power the movement of the robot. This bird was then
suspended from a pivot bar at one point the bird managed to fly as much as 200
meters before it ran out of steam. This is not only the first known robot. Robots are
machines capable of carrying out a complex series of actions automatically or
controlled by imputed source by impued source. Robots could be defined in many

Robots now are able to do many task by either being program to do that specific
task or learn it themselves on their own. They don t need to be program to do a
task. They are able to learn something on there own thats new and do it very
quickly. The ability to has a huge positive impact. Satyandra K Gupta states that In
a simplistic sense, the home robot marked can be divided into three categories(1)
robots helping wit dull and tedious household chores;(2) robots taking on new roles
in homes (e.g..,education, entertainment, companionship; and (3) robots in
assisted living communities (Parag.2). This shows that robots are able to educate
kids or entertain them. Robots can show companionship. Robots can be a part of
school for kids because they can always be ready to teach and are kid friendly.
They are able to show facial expression so can show emotion and almost be life
like. To sum up robots are going to make life easier by just helping around the
house or teaching a child how to read. Robots will improve our health care service
with the new advances in robotics. Rich Hooper states that It is dangerous for
humans to go out in space. keeping robots operating reliably in space presents
some unique challenges for engineers. Robots are a big part in NASA. For
example the robotic rover they use is very important for exploring areas in space
where humans can t go (Parag.2). This suggests that robotics are allowing man to
explore like never before. It is

Evaluation: Due to the fact that the Da Vinci s Vitruvian man lab demonstrated
failure on the past examinations, we can feel free to assume that many errors are
shown in this experiment. The first error noticed is the fact that we measured
everything with a small measuring tape instead of a big measuring tape, which
didn t help since we were taller and bigger than the measuring tape, so we had to
use two measuring tapes added together. Using a small measuring tape to find out
these measurements ended being extremely inaccurate. After data collection we
were not really sure if the numbers we got were real, and it probably affected a lot
on the way the results came out. The lab activity validity started to be questionable
now. By the time we were looking for the four measurements needed just one group
of people from the class was using a measuring tape, the rest of the class were using
two small ones (so they could have the same length). The way it worked was to put
one in the top of the other and then add the numbers, which was hard for
