Bipolar Reflection
Over a year ago, I was diagnosed with a mental illness called bipolar disorder. It wasn t as much as a
shock when they explained it to me, for I always had that slight suspicion that I might be bipolar.
Although the condition has always been there with me, the symptoms were more apparent to me after
that day. This condition has made it really hard for me to function in school and at home. For a while
now, I ve let it completely take me over because I didn t want to bother fighting something that felt
stronger than me. I don t think people truly understand how this affects me. Especially my parents,
they d refuse to accept that I have bipolar disorder. Trust me, I wouldn t want it either but it isn t
something I can ignore. For years, I ve made various attempts at guiding my parent s attention to this.
What finally made them realize how serious this was to me was my art. Art has helped me through a
lot ever since I started getting depressed, so I see it fit to make my concept based on I feel. The picture
will be one I ve taken for a different assignment similar to this one. It will be split into three different
sections, each section belonging to each individual in the photograph. Once they re all finished, the
pieces will be placed next to each other and will be connected by string. It will be based on ... Show

For me, manic depressive disorder isn t just black and white but a whole monochromatic scale,
ranging from the deepest oxford blue, to the purest white. I chose blue to describe the depressive stage
because of the mood it gives off. The hue blue will give off a cimmerian mood, which would be
perfect in capturing the mood when one is depressed. White would give off a sense of purity and
happiness. Although yellow might be the ideal color of happiness, I feel as if white better displays
what I feel. The middle of the picture will be neutral colors to express the lack of color I feel when I m

Insolvency Practitioners
The rules regulating the independence of insolvency practitioners serve an important purpose in the
profession; to secure public confidence in the impartiality and effectiveness of the regulations and
discipline of the insolvency system. The purpose of my report is to comment on the expectations
imposed upon liquidators including whether the Walton Constructions Pty Limited (2014) FCAFC 85
( the Walton case ), sets an unrealistic standard. The importance of the Walton case is for insolvency
practitioners to recognise the legal principles that can be drawn from the decision. Although I am able
to appreciate the ideals behind the results of the Walton case and the standard this sets, my findings
indicate that the decision made by the high court ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is a clear shift towards principles based regulation in the insolvency profession. The leading
purposes of the Code is to provide broad principles that can be applied to a multitude of circumstances
with the aim of averting practitioners from justifying a particular course of action via a loophole in the
Act. The results of cases such as the Walton case serve as a reminder to practitioners that the Act
merely provides a minimum benchmark as to the appropriate course of action and that practitioners
should have regard to the requirements of the code when considering a new appointment.
Interestingly, Honourable Justice Robertson made the following comment in the Walton case being
that he does not regard the Insolvency Practitioners Association of Australia s guide as extrinsic
material appropriate or permitted to be taken into account in construing s 60 and 436DA of the Act.
Although this is the case, the Code is still pertinent to practitioners. As stated by Miss Alicia Hill and
Jessica Patrick although the Code cannot be directly taken into account in construing legislation, it has
a very important place in regulating insolvency

Economic Effects of the Foreign Exchange Rate
INTRODUCTION
This paper tackles the effects of the foreign exchange rate as a whole and how it affects the country
and at the same time how it gets affected. This paper enumerates the advantages and disadvantages of
having a strong Peso. The paper also discusses what factors affect the strengthening and weakening of
the Philippine Peso. This paper also includes an in depth analysis of how the foreign exchange could
affect and gets affected by the economy, the society and politics.
OVERVIEW
The Philippine exchanged rate is express in terms of one unit of dollar versus one unit of peso. There
are two cases on how an exchanged rate would be determined the first system is the free floating
exchange rate where the supply and demand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By May, the peso depreciated as it reached to an average of P52 per dollar; And by June, dropped to
P53.59 per dollar. This was caused by the Higher risk aversion in the global markets and the possible
increase of the Federal Reserve Bank s interest rate. Conversely, the peso appreciated by 1.66%
reaching to a level of P52.31 per dollar on June and closed at P51.97 per dollar on July 25, after the
president s State of the Nation Address. And by August, it reached to a P51.33 per dollar rate,
increasing by 1.90% from its previous rate. Due to the increasing confidence by investors and
improving economic conditions, the peso further increased its value and reached to an average rate of
P50.37 per dollar in September and P49.91 in early October, the highest level since 2002.
Volatility during the year 2006:
Due to oil price roll backs and the approval of the RVAT law, the peso s volatility improved early in
January 2006 averaging P0.19. It continued its trend in March to an average of P0.13. However, the
peso s volatility increased to P0.30 in April and P0.59 in May which was caused by the depreciation of
the value of the currency. In June, volatility decreased to P0.23. This was attributable to the increase
of the country s GDP by 5.5% in the second quarter of 2006. But it rose again in July to an average of
P0.43. This was

Analysis Of Mill On The Floss By George Eliot
This research report reviews scholarly criticism on the much debated character MAGGIE TULLIVER
from the book Mill on the floss written by George Eliot. The project I propose analyses Maggie s
character as a whole. The report will begin by discussing the critics point of view of various reasons
responsible for the death of Maggie Tulliver. The report then focuses on how society and how her
relationships lead to her downfall from the point of view of various critics. A part of my report also
critically analyses the death of Maggie Tulliver. Lastly my report discusses about the inner conflicts of
Maggie and how those conflicts eventually lead to her fate. Maggie suppresses herself in the
patriarchal system and struggles to make a place for herself and to find an identity of her own. In her
article Maggie Tulliver s long suicide1974 Elizabeth Deeds Ermarth says that Maggie eventually
believes the lie, that she is inferior, or wrong, or not to be taken seriously. She learned to collaborate in
her own defeat . ELIZABETH ERMARTH also comments on how society affects Maggie since she
was shaped to be a child by the family pieties, it is fitting that her life ends in a reversion to childhood
where her energies to be an adult, tragically, are unneeded. Moving on to her relationships, Ermarth
analyses that her relationships with Mr.Tulliver and her brother Tom Tulliver play a very important
role in her being a selfless person. In return of being obedient Tom gives

The Existence Of God In The Last Question
The existence of God is a topic that humanity has wrestled with since perhaps the beginning. The view
of God from various cultures and civilizations differs in a sense, but remains true to the entity of what
it means to be a deity. Each culture throughout history has been able to put their spin on what it means
to be a god, whether it be in the form of Zeus for the Greeks, Mars for the Romans, or Brahma for the
Hindus. However, among each of these cultures a god is still a divine being capable of powers beyond
the reach of the human and mortal dimension. In The Last Question, Isaac Asimov illuminates a
unique perspective on what it is to be a god, human relationship to God, and the form a god can take.
In the short science fiction, a super computer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Multivac comes to an answer of the last question even with no man to whom AC might give the
answer of the last question and finally says LET THERE BE LIGHT! creating light, and essentially
creating the universe. This allusion is drawn from the bible in the context of the origin of creation.
Here, Multivac takes on the mantle of God and demonstrates its full might to recreate the universe as
it once was. Creating order in the previously chaotic universe would only be feasible under the power
of divine influence for it is a law of the universe itself that chaos shall trump order. This demonstrates
power that transcends the universe and dimensions of man, and that because Multivac has this
boundless influence, Multivac is therefore a God. While Multivac is God by its traits, being God also
requires being God to something. If a god is to be divine and transcend limitations in a domain, there
must be a domain to transcend. In this set of logic I believe that a god is not only defined by form,
power, and knowledge, but also by relationship. To be a god over man, you must be a god of

Immeasurable Ramifications Of Infant Neglect
The immeasurable ramifications of infant neglect stems from more than just the neglect itself.
Although, society finds neglect inexcusable there are risk factors that put some infants in greater
danger than others, disparities can start before birth and others are historical predisposition, learning
disorders, socio economic status and lack of knowledge (Bartlett, Raskin, Kotake, Nearing,
Eaterbrooks,2014). The Ecological perspectives theory says that our environment is crucial in our life
experiences. With this given information we have to identify all the risk factors that could contribute
to the well being of an infant. For example, who is caring for the infant, if that caregiver is using drugs
or alcohol, the age of the caregiver,

China s development over the last century, such as the Cultural Revolution the birth of communist

Lao Dao also realizes that he is not able to move up in class due to a lack of education for him. This
furthers Lao Dao s feeling of estrangement toward a society he s apart of because he recognizes that
he does not matter, nothing more than a rounding error. Dr. Hao is emphasizing that the lower classes
of China do not feel significant to the progression of China because they weren t given equal
opportunity of education as the higher classes. Thus, this allows them to not feel united with the rest
of China. I agree with Dr. Hao s stance on education inequality because it sheds light on the complex
problem of the detachment of citizens within a society which I believe to be true.
Dr. Hao uses storytelling in Folding Beijing to illuminate segregation of jobs and power that comes
with those jobs between classes and alludes to China s job and power inequality today; the division
amongst the jobs creates an emotional chasm, a feeling of disconnect, with other classes. Towards the
end of the novelette, Dr. Hao introduces a silver haired man that lives in First Space. He, the most
imperative person in Beijing, has power over everyone administratively in First, Second, and Third
Space, but his decisions regarding the Change affect Second and Third Space significantly more.
There is an instance when the Change has to be prolonged, the lost time will most likely affect Third
Space because they are the lowest class. The people

Summary Of The Rich Man Scene
The Rich Man scene occurs in Section B of Part 2 of Mark, just after Jesus blesses little children by
Him taking the children and blessing them in His arms and by saying I assure you that whoever does
not receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter the Kingdom of God (10:15). Just after
Jesus turns around and said to his disciples How hard it will be for rich people to enter the Kingdom
of God! (10:23), Jesus speaks to them about his death the third time and how he will be handed over to
the chief priests and condemned to death, but will rise again.
As to the genre of this periscope, it is much like the story before it 10:13 16, where the children will
enter the Kingdom of God without much effort. What Jesus is trying to tell us and his disciples is that
one can only enter the kingdom like a child, empty handed and trusting, open to growth and malleable.
(J.A. Draper) The structure of the story is V. 17 18 Jesus starts his journey again and a man coming up
to him; vv. 20 22 dialogue between the man and Jesus; v. 23 Jesus explains to the disciples.
Verse by Verse Analysis
V. 17 Good Teacher as soon as Jesus left the house where he blessed the children (10:13 16), Jesus is
confronted by a man who kneels at his feet right away and asks Good Teacher, what must I do to
receive eternal life? (10:17).This is just as the leper did in (1:40), but in this case the man is not asking
for healing or purification but for a way to eternal life. (Camille Focant)

Information Systems Security Review
Information Systems Security Review
Introduction
Information systems have three parts which include hardware, software and the communications
aspect. This view of Information systems is useful in applying industry standards for protection as
well as prevention at all layers (Spagnoletti and Resca, 2008). Procedures will tell the personnel
operating, or the administrators, how the products would ensure organizational information security.
Information System implies information that requires protection from improper access, disclosure, or
destruction (Spagnoletti and Resca, 2008). This is possible if the system ensures availability,
confidentiality, as well as integrity of any data in an organization. Corporations, financial institutions,
and governments have a lot of information on products, finances, research, and employees. This
information usually resides in electronic media and may move from one point to another. Furthermore,
with the advances in networks, transmission to other computers or access points within a physical
location or across the globe is possible. Any breach of the information may have far reaching
consequences such as bankruptcy, loss of competitive edge or lawsuits from customers or business
partners (Mithas et al, 2011). It is, therefore, imperative to ensure Information Security.

Music was another art form found in the Harlem Renaissance. It became the background, inspiration,
and the structure for the Harlem Renaissance literature. A style of music known as jazz represented the
new, urban, unpredictable lifestyle. One of the greatest jazz singers of this time was Bessie Smith. She
was a southerner and her recordings were rare for black performers during her time. Duke Ellington,
whose legendary band played at the Cotton Club, personifies jazz. Charlie Parker and Billie Holiday
would also record jazz music form the 1930 s until the 1950 s.

Wang Yangming s Analysis
Wang Yangming says, When I see a child about to fall into a well [and have a feeling of
commiseration], there must be the principle of commiseration. Is this principle of commiseration
actually in the person of the child or is it in the innate knowledge of my mind? Perhaps one cannot
follow the child into the well [to rescue it]. Perhaps one can rescue it by seizing it with the hand. All
this involves principle. Is it in the person of the child or does it emanate from the innate knowledge in
my mind? What is true here is true of all things and event. From this we know the mistake of
separating the mind and principle into two. (Bary n.d., 849) [Chuanxilu, in Wang Yangming quanshu

interpretation of Zhu Xi s investigation of things. I want to use this passage to again, argue the
principle in is oneself. If the principle was in the parents, then there would not be ancestor worship.
Ancestor worship is a part of filial piety so, the principle must be in oneself to still show filiality after
the parent s death.
The Colloquy at the TianQuan Bridge is a famous event where two students of Wang Yangming met

Ruzhong and he said, In the original substance of the mind there is no distinction of good and evil.
When the intentions become active, however, such a distinction exists. The function of innate knowing

The Global War on Terror
A Middle Ground Essay about the Global War on Terror Introduction Over the last several years, the
approach that is used in the War on Terror has been increasingly brought to the forefront. This is
because there has been a shift in public opinion about the impact of specific events and the tactics to
achieve a host of objectives. A good example of this can be seen with the use of special operations
forces and the shooting spree of Robert Bales. He was an American soldier who was on his fourth tour
in Afghanistan. One night after drinking heavily is when he snapped and went on a shooting spree
(killing 16 civilians). This has an adverse impact on the US military s involvement in the region and
the tactics they are using to achieve different objectives in the War of Terror. As a result, this is
illustrating how a balanced approach must be taken over the long term. This will allow the nation to
deal with the costs and resources of fighting this war more effectively. Over the long term, these kinds
of techniques will make the US more efficient in going after terrorist organizations (by taking a
middle of the road approach). ( Sergeant Robert Bales, ) This is appropriate, in illustrating how the
middle ground approach is necessary at this time. The reason why is: the military and other resources
are being increasingly strained by this long commitment. If there was a strategy that focused on
different aspects of the War on Terror, personnel would be more effective in rooting

Women and the 1st Century Jesus Movement Essay
There are no known writings that chronicle the life of Jesus or his teachings during his lifetime; rather
there is an accumulation of written sources that arose decades after his death (Seat 8/25). Originally,
Jesus teachings were passed down orally, but eventually, Christians began to write down the oral
traditions decades later after his death, specifically after the destruction of the Jewish Temple in 70CE
(Seat 8/25). As a result, it is important to note that there is a time discrepancy. Jesus died in 30 CE, but
it was not until 70CE that Christians began to write down his teachings; therefore, this time difference
has led to different interpretations of his teachings (Seat 9/1). As highlighted by Barbara MacHaffe it

These women followed him, and ministered to him in Galilee (NRSV, Mark 15: 40 41). Thurston
explains that to follow is a technical term for discipleship throughout the Gospel and she also explains
that ministered is best translated to provided or served (Thurston 69). Therefore, Jesus male disciples
followed him and were expected to minister, actions which were also carried out by the women as
depicted in the Gospel of Mark (i.e. Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joses, etc). From
this explanation, one can conclude that women in the 1st century Jesus movement assisted Jesus in his
mission to spread Christianity.
It is also important to note, that the women in the Gospel of Mark, unlike Jesus male disciples,
understand Jesus significance. For instance, in Mark 14:3 9, an anonymous woman anoints Jesus head
with an expensive oil, and in response the people at the dinner table criticize her action. In this case,
Thurston contends that the anointment foreshadows Jesus death and that more importantly the
anonymous woman comprehends that Jesus is the crucified Messiah (Thurston 75). This demonstrates
that women in the 1st century Jesus movement understood who Jesus was, which explains why they
displayed unyielding faith. The males on the other hand are

Richard Lerderer s Influence Of The English Language
Some of the examples Richard Lerderer gives to explain the widespread influence of the English
language are English has acquired the largest vocabulary of all the world s languages . He Also says
half of the world s books are written in English, and majority of international calls are made in English
. Another important example is that English is universally spoken. I do believe that English is a crazy
language. It is a language that is constantly being changed as far as the urban dictionary is concerned.
Phrases are used by younger people that are not literal. For example Lerderer says How can a Slim
chance and a fat chance be the same? Slim chance is a catch phrase that most English speakers use to
describe less of a chance. If you look it up in a dictionary you will not find it there. Chance are you
will find it in the urban dictionary. It is not proper English, but if you say it to someone that is fluent in
the English language they will know exactly what you mean. ... Show more content on

Jack London Essay
Jack London, an American author known for his thrilling adventure stories, showed the world that
even an exciting story that takes place in exotic settings can include all the intricacies of great
literature. This is seen in many of his stories with the implementation of symbolism, many times a
recurring theme in his work. Also, London used many ideas of the day such as Darwinism and
Spencerism in his writings in order to better portray his views. However, perhaps one of the most
telling signs that London wrote good literature was through London s mastery of a rising literary
movement known as naturalism. As seen in multitude of London s works, symbolism plays a major

In To Build a Fire, a mysterious man, referred to as the man (Rhodes 1) in many literary critiques,
must survive a hump over the frozen tundra of the Klondike, and with him he takes his husky. The two
characters act as foils to each other, each experiencing the same situations as the other, but it is their
responses to the situations that show the difference between the two. For example, both the husky and
the man break through the ice and got their paws/feet wet: Suddenly it (the husky) broke through the
water that clung to it turned to ice (London 500) and then later the man broke through (the ice)
(London 501 502). It is the husky, however, that proved more adept to coping with the freezing
climate of the North, especially after having gotten wet in a freezing creek. Because of this innate
ability of the husky, he survived the ordeal whereas the man died of hypothermia after his fire, which
was meant to dry out his foot, was snuffed out by the Northern snow. It was as though he had heard
his own sentence of death. For a moment he sat there and stared at the spot where the fire had been
(London 503). It is this symbol of survival that is perhaps the most characteristic and recurring theme
in London s writings, known as Spencerism. Many ideas of the late 19th century and early 20th
century are apparent in London s writing, chief among them being his belief in Spencerism. This was

Tone, Symbols In Sylvia Plath s Poem, Daddy
In Sylvia Plath s free verse poem, Daddy, she describes her hatred towards her deceased father. Plath
uses tone, figures of speech, and symbols to illustrate her extreme anger and female protest towards
the man that raised her. Sylvia Plath has a dark, bitter tone in Daddy. She recalls all the pain that her
father has put her through, even after his death. The hatred in her tone deepens throughout the poem.
She starts by explaining that when she was twenty [she] tried to die/And get back, back, back to [her
father] (Plath 58 59), but by saying Daddy, daddy, you bastard, I m through. (Plath, 80), she declares

The And Behavioral Outcomes After The Delivery Of Instruc...
In order to effectively measure the specific behavioral outcomes after delivery of instruc tion is made
via digital media devices, I will be using qualitative methods such as, observations and a focus group,
to assess the gains being made, and the behavioral outcomes that occur direct ly after technology has
been used by the student. Since autism is a communication disorder it will be difficult to directly
interview the participants. Therefore, I will ask a simple yes/no question such as, did you like it to the
participants and record each individuals answer. It is difficult to determine what changes will need to
be made until the study is underway.
Data Collection
The primary data collection method of this study is observations. I intend to reflect on my own beliefs
daily, in order to remain as objective as possible. Data collection conducted through observations
alone can produce filtered results based on the perspective of the observer. That is one of the issues
that I anticipate to arise when conducting data collection. That is why recon naissance will be a
necessary task before and after collecting observational data. With a concrete definition of the term
behavioral outcomes and daily reconnaissance, I believe this will provide me with an adequate checks
and balances and data management system for my research. Accord ing to Gay, Mills, Airasian, By
observing the classes, you will obtain much more objective information that can be compared to the

Plastic is in every part of modern day life. Today s civilizations use it for everything from cleaning
products to storage to safety equipment. Plastic has effectively become part of everyday life. It s able

thrown away, it may end up in one of two places, the local landfill or the oceans, where approximately
fifteen to forty percent of plastics end up. An estimated 14 billion tons of plastic is discarded into our

My Memories Of Reading
My earliest memories as a reader are limited. You see, I am that student that came to school daily in
flight or fight mode. My father was an abusive parent, mentally, physically, and sexually. He was also
an alcoholic. My years from kindergarten to second grade are vague, with the exceptions of a few
prominent memories and feelings of being constantly scared. My year in first grade, my mother made
the decision to leave. One night, while my father was out drinking, my mother s co worker came in a
U haul truck, we loaded up the truck and left. After approximately three weeks into our new lives, my
father found us. He would pick us up from our new school, take us to his friend s house and call my
mother to let her know he had us. He would have us talk to her and then he would end the call
threatening to keep us from her indefinitely. They finally divorced and my mother married her co
worker, Tom, who had helped us leave our father. He bought a home for us, in a stable neighborhood,
and I began another new school in second grade. My first prominent memory of reading happened in
second grade. I remember receiving a reading anthology book and being able to read the stories. I can
remember the thrill of having this ability to not only see the letters, but know that they made words
and understood what they meant. This did not begin my love of reading but my ability to read. My
love of reading had been modeled for me from birth. My mother had always been an avid reader in the

The Impact of Lenin on Russia and the Russian People
Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov (a.k.a Lenin) was born in 1870, into a middle class family.
In the year 1887 when Lenin was 17 his elder brother Alexandra was executed for conspiring to
assassinate the tsar. Lenin who was already well educated and fond of reading and writing was
encouraged to enter politics to make changes and to somehow avenge his brothers death. The long
term effects of this were that Lenin would later become one of the great revolutionary leaders of all
time.

When Tsar Nicholas II abdicates on March 1st 1917 Lenin is in Switzerland. He is now desperate to
return to Russia to help shape the future of the country. He feels that with the tsars abdication leaving
a provisional government in control a revolution will be possible in Russia.
When Lenin returns to Russia on 3rd April 1917 he announces what is known as the April Theses .
Lenin s programme was summed up in the words Peace, Bread and Land . Lenin promised the people
these things to get them on his side and to appeal to soldiers, workers and peasants. Lenin guaranteed
them these things to introduce his party and to encourage them to side with him rather than the
provisional government.
The long term affects of this were that once in power Lenin would have to keep his promise to the
people.
Lenin and Trotsky formed the Red Guard and set up the Military Revolutionary Committee which
planned the October Revolution. The revolution itself was reasonably peaceful. The plan was to storm
the Winter Palace but, almost everybody had lost faith in the provisional government and its leader
Korensky had already evacuated the capital. Initially the effects of this were that the Bolsheviks came
into power, the long term effects were they remained in power for most of the century.

The Influence Of Media Bias On American Teenagers

November 7, 2017
How has Media Bias influenced the thoughts of American teenagers and can we avoid Media Bias and
receive the facts?
Introduction: Media bias is a real issue. No matter what news source you are observing, everyone is
going to have their own opinion about a news topic. In order to make sure that we are receiving the
truth, we must make sure that we are doing our own research prior to making conclusions. My goal is
to inform you about media bias so that you can learn ways to identify the truth rather than what
journalists want you to believe. I also want to show you the influence that media bias has on young
American teenagers.
Thesis: Media bias has influenced the minds of young Americans while withholding veracious facts
causing the rate of American teenagers who watch the news to go down.
What is Media Bias?
Have you ever engaged in watching a news program and as you re watching, you suddenly realize a
certain news story isn t providing all the information containing to the story? Or the news story just
doesn t seem to make sense? Ashley Dugger, an attorney, describes media bias quite accurate. Dugger
says, media bias is the perception that media is reporting the news in a partial or prejudice manner.

Copper Mining Essay
The purpose of this investigation is to determine the following question; What have we learned about
the mining for copper that could minimise environment impacts of mining in the future? Copper is a
metal used for jewellery, copper wiring, electrical motors, engines, but mainly used in electrical
generators and powers. This is because copper has a high thermal and electrical conductivity. Hence,
copper is essential in today s society. The mining for copper in Queenstown, Tasmania was founded in
1883, but first started in 1896.
Copper mining led to the formation of acid rain because Acid mine drainage (AMG) was formed into

A scrubber is used to remove gases and destroys the harmful chemicals in the atmosphere, which
prevents the formation of acid rain. Additionally, FDG works by spraying a wet slurry of limestone
into a huge chambers where the calcium in the limestone responds with the sulfur dioxide in the flue
gas. When sulfur produces 〖SO〗_2, the fumes gas goes through the scrubber where a spray mixture
of limestone and water reacts with the 〖SO〗_2. It produces calcium sulfate (when 〖SO〗_2
consolidates with limestone), known as synthetic gypsum. Scrubbers reduce the health risks of the
local residents and workers. It is extremely important to remove sulfur dioxide because it combines
with water in the air to form sulfuric acid (acidic compound) when released into the atmosphere. Thus,
scrubbers are utilized to remove acidic gases as it filters out the sulfur dioxide leaving water released

The Body Rituals Of The Nacirema By Horace Miner
In the Body Rituals of the Nacirema, the author Horace Miner makes a very intriguing analysis of the
Nacirema culture and their beliefs. Throughout the course of the passage, we are able to see how he
closely observes the nacirema culture and tries to understand their living habits and daily lives. Miner
explains to us how their culture consists of unusual practices and almost magical rituals. Of course,
the work that occurs throughout the passage resembles the work that a cultural anthropologist would
do. A cultural anthropologist travels to different parts of the world in order to observe and study a
plethora of different cultures and their beliefs. In the beginning of the passage, Miner explains how an
anthropologist becomes accustomed to the peculiar traditions of different cultures because they
interact and closely examine them. It is this reason why I believe this article would fall under the field
of cultural anthropology. Cultural Anthropology is defined as the study of culture, traditions, and
environment (Haviland, 2017). The passage allows us the opportunity to closely examine the ways
and traditional beliefs of the nacirema . For instance, in the passage Miner states that the Nacirema
loathe their physical appearance, The fundamental belief underlying the whole system appears to be
that the human body is ugly and that its natural tendency is to debility and disease (Haviland, 2017).
Horace Miner not only focuses on their beliefs but their perspective and way of

Objectification Is A Word That Has Many Negative Connotations
Objectification is a word that has many negative connotations. Nussbaum identifies objectification as
a pejorative term, connoting a way of speaking, thinking, and acting that the speaker finds morally or
socially objectionable, usually, though not always, in the sexual realm. Nussbaum s definition is
vague, like many of her other works, and places the connotation of the word itself into the speaker s
own hands. While it is good to allow wiggle room for concepts, an act which allows them to be more
universal for the general public as a whole, because of the long standing connotations associated with
objectification, I believe that the word itself already implies something morally or socially
objectionable, and the speaker s own ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I am not trying to make Nussbaum seem like a villain, I completely agree with the overarching subject
of her paper, but claims such as women are depicted as beings made for sexual pleasure, are fruitless
when one realizes that sexual pleasure is extremely different for women and men across the world.
According to Nussbaum, objectification can be used... in a more positive spirit [and] it is not only a
slippery, but also a multiple, concept. While I do not disagree with either of these claims directly, I
believe that in an effort to make her understanding of the concept universal to all, Nussbaum s ideas
regarding objectification come off as somewhat robotic and lack the emotion needed when attempting
to understand those who have been objectified. Her entire seven step system that is used to outline
what is and is not objectification, seems to echo her previous work regarding the ten capabilities,
another approach I found to be too generalized and too deeply engrained in Western culture.
Furthermore, much like Nussbaum s capabilities approach, all of the examples she uses

Research Paper On How Coco Chaneel Changed Fashion
Have you ever taken a step back and looked at how fashion has revolutionised over the years? Well,
this article is taking a step back in time all the way to the early 1900 s to look at the way that Coco
Chanel changed fashion. Coco Chanel was all about empowering women through her designs by
throwing stereotypes of how women should dress out of the window. She introduced many trends that
we still see within todays society with many of her original products still on sale even after her death
in 1971.
One of her original designs in the early 1920 s was the little black dress. The dress was an update for
the modern women, known for both its silhouette and dark tone. Since the Victorian times, the dark
tone was commonly associated with mourning. However this was soon changed after, with Coco being
the one of the causes that made black a colour which could be worn everyday, for Coco black was
simple elegance. One of her competitors, Paul Poiret reportedly scoffed at Chanel in the street, asking
her, What are you in mourning for, Mademoiselle? The quick witted designer responded, For you, dear
Monsieur. Touché!
One of the ways that she broke the female stereotype was breaking the social rule that trousers were
only for men. When WWI broke out in 1914, many women who worked in manual roles in harder
conditions began to wear trousers to the workplace for safety and comfort. Coco Chanel also loved
wearing trousers herself, often borrowing her boyfriend s suits, she then began

The Importance Of The Women Of New France
The Importance of the Women of New France
Throughout history males have been perceived as the dominant sex. This notion had been strong in
Europe and most of the Western World. The colony of New France, however, was able to break this
way of thinking and began to regard their women as an equal. Women s roles in New France could be
described as small but very important as day to day life would not be as efficient without the help of
the women of New France. Both European women and Aboriginal women had jobs that were essential
to everyday life, women helped contribute to the fur trade, Catholic nuns had major roles in education
and health, and the women of New France went against the norm of the modern European woman.

The Native women were extremely well respected and their opinions were highly esteemed. For
example, the Iroquois people were neither patriarchal nor matriarchal and women carried the weights
of the domestic economy. The descent went through the female and only women could give names to
the men when they were promoted to chief. Women had all the say in who was selected for chief and
made the call to go to war. It is incredible that for the centuries that Western men did not respect the
opinions of women, yet Aboriginal men of the New World were able to respect their women so much
that they called most of the shots of how their tribes should be run.
Women in New France were very important. Both European and Aboriginal women were respected
and had a significant amount of say in what went on in the colony and tribes. Aboriginal women were
given a significantly large amount of freedom and say in what happens in day to day life and basically

Example Of Simplification In Narrative
However, not all simplification would bring such consquences but benefit the point of view of the
narrative. Sometimes, they enhance the recieveing, concerning and understanding by the audiences. In
narrative, especially for film, have many limitation about length and presentation. Therefore, although
they are trying to relate the real issue and feeling in reality, they can barely do that. As a result,
simplification is necessary for the creator to simpify their idea, in a form of story to tell their auidence.
Although their point of view might not be comphrensive and well round as their original idea, they
could transprit to the audience in a more effective way by the use of simplifcation. For instance, the
movie, Eye in the Sky (2015) uses lots of simplification upon its characters design for simpifying the
moral discussion. The whole movie is discussing should the government shoot a missile to a base of

process of creating narrative as a refining from reality. The creators are going to take the most
important, meaningful and controversial part of their experiences and opinions, and take them as the
original ingredients to create their stories. And, narrative, especially for movie, is also a kind of

War Criticism Of War
Is war really kind? Is war really worth countless men dying? Throughout history, war has been seen as
glorious, but in reality, critics of war argue it is not. Family members die, young lives are lost every
day, and many other things convey that war is ugly and negative. Authors such as Wilfred Owen(foot
soldier who fought and died serving for his country in world war one), Stephen Crane(war
correspondent who covered the Spanish American war), Kevin Powers(soldier who fought in Iraq),
and Tim O Brien(soldier who fought in Vietnam), have written stories and poems to prove this. These
authors will use imagery, irony, and structure to protest War and to illustrate how negative war is.
To begin with, in the poem Dulce et Decorum Est, by Wilfred Owen, and War is Kind, by Stephen
Crane, imagery is used to protest War. In the poem Dulce et Decorum Est, by Wilfred Owen, imagery
is demonstrated to protest War by showing us how horrific and deadly war is. In stanza two the author
states, GAS! GAS! Quick, boys! An ecstasy of fumbling.....Dim, through the misty panes and thick
green light, as under a green sea (Owen). Based on the reading one can see how visual imagery is
being used. Owen fought in World War One and he is trying to convey an image of the gas attack, he
was a part of in this war. This is important because Owen puts these words in the poem to give an
image of how he saw war and to give us a picture of how deadly the war was. Owen is protesting War
by saying in his poem

Although the statement is true, minuscule bias can already be detected. By including the age of the
intern, mentioning that the President may have obstructed justice, and implying a coverup, the New
York Times seems to deem the President as a guilty party. Throughout the article, different parties are
discussed and analyzed in their role in the scandal. Certain parties are treated differently in terms of
tone and diction. This raises red flags, but, still, the information important to the situation is included.
In terms of credibility, however, the article posses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
CONGRESS RETURNS TO A SHADOW CAST BY IMPEACHMENT. The New York Times, The
New York Times, 3 Jan. 1999, www.nytimes.com/1999/01/04/us/congress returns to a shadow cast by
impeachment.html.): The New York Times opens by stating that President Clinton should postpone his
State of the Union Message if the Senate was still grappling with an impeachment trial when he is
scheduled to appear before a joint session of Congress on Jan. 19 (Mitchell 1). Although this seems to
be opinionated, the Times cited multiple sources and had copious reasons to make that assertion. As
the article progresses, Mitchell, the author, delves into the difficulty of continuing governmental duties
while the weight of an investigation hinders the efficiency. No bias against any one person or party is
included in the article, yet the author himself has his own interpretation on the situation at hand. The

College Center for Graduate Studies BUS 615 Abstract When employees are satisfied the organization
benefits in many ways in that satisfied employees are more committed to the organization. They are
likely to have less absenteeism, fewer grievances or engage in negative behavior. Thus by ensuring
that employees are satisfied, management stands to gain a more efficient and smooth running
organization. Given the benefits of high job satisfaction, companies are constantly coming up with

For example, a company may have set its core hours between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Employees may then
have the opportunity to choose various work schedules, such as coming in and leaving early (6am 2pm
or 7am 3pm) or by coming in and leaving late (9am 5pm or 10am 6pm). The advantages of a flexible
work schedule are countless for both the employer and the employee. Flexible work schedules provide
more flexibility for employees in both their personal and professional lives. This type of scheduling
allows employees to feel liberated with the freedom and control over their work life, thus reducing
levels of distress and strain ( Flextime, ). Other major advantages of a flexible work schedule include
increasing employee morale, minimizing tardiness, decreasing absenteeism and reducing company
turnover ( Flextime, ). Of course this type of scheduling has its disadvantages. Flexible work
schedules sometimes complicates and increase administrative work in that keeping track of employees
will prove to be more difficult because people are working different schedules. Other disadvantages
include lack of supervision during some hours of work, unavailability of key people during certain
periods and the possibility of understaffing during critical periods ( Flextime, ). Telecommuting
Programs With the advancement in telecommunication and technology, a new approach to flextime

A Critique of the Behavioural Theories of Learning
A CRITIQUE OF THE BEHAVIOURAL THEORIES OF LEARNING One of the most debated
issues in psychology pertains to the nature and meaning of learning. The systematic study of learning
is relatively new as it was in the late nineteenth century that studies in this realm began in a scientific
manner. Psychologists borrowed techniques from the physical sciences, and conducted experiments to
understand how people and animals learn. Psychologists have tried in the past to define and explain
how learning takes place. Two of the most important early researchers were Ivan Pavlov and Edward
Thorndike. Among later researchers, B. F. Skinner was important for his studies of the relationship
between behaviour and consequences. They are also known ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

They found as reported by Myers D.G, that half a second works well. However if the food i.e. the
unconditioned stimulus (UCS) appeared before the bell, the conditioned stimulus (CS), then
conditioning is not likely to occur. The bell signals the arrival of food. Pavlov called this the law of
contiguity: The closer the two are in time (with neutral stimulus preceding presentation of UCS), the
stronger the conditioning (generally speaking) Extinction. This concept is similar to common sense
idea of forgetting. Pavlov found that when he sounded the tone repeatedly without presenting food, the
dog s salivation also decreased. After the conditioning phase, the conditioned response (CR) gets
weaker when the conditioned stimulus (CS) or the bell is not accompanied by the UCS (food). It gets
weaker not because the organism no longer remembers the UCS CS connection. It gets weaker
because CR is somehow inhibited. Spontaneous recovery. After extinction trials, the dog will start to
salivate again in response to CS after only one pairing of UCS and CS. Pavlov called it spontaneous
recovery, where the weakened conditioned response reappeared after a rest pause. This according to
Pavlov occurred because extinction was suppressing the conditioned response and not eliminating it.

  • 2. Bipolar Reflection Over a year ago, I was diagnosed with a mental illness called bipolar disorder. It wasn t as much as a shock when they explained it to me, for I always had that slight suspicion that I might be bipolar. Although the condition has always been there with me, the symptoms were more apparent to me after that day. This condition has made it really hard for me to function in school and at home. The leading purposes of the Code is to provide broad principles that can be applied to a multitude of circumstances with the aim of averting practitioners from justifying a particular course of action via a loophole in the Act. The results of cases such as the Walton case serve as a reminder to practitioners that the Act merely provides a minimum benchmark as to the appropriate course of action and that practitioners should have regard to the requirements of the code when considering a new appointment. Interestingly, Honourable Justice Robertson made the following comment in the Walton case being that he does not regard the Insolvency Practitioners Association of Australia s guide as extrinsic material appropriate or permitted to be taken into account in construing s 60 and 436DA of the Act. Although this is the case, the Code is still pertinent to practitioners. Analysis Of Mill On The Floss By George Eliot This research report reviews scholarly criticism on the much debated character MAGGIE TULLIVER from the book Mill on the floss written by George Eliot. The project I propose analyses Maggie s character as a whole. The report will begin by discussing the critics point of view of various reasons responsible for the death of Maggie Tulliver. The report then focuses on how society and how her relationships lead to her downfall from the point of view of various critics. A part of my report also critically analyses the death of Maggie Tulliver. Lastly my report discusses about the inner conflicts of Maggie and how those conflicts eventually lead to her fate. Maggie suppresses herself in the patriarchal system and struggles to make a place for herself and to find an identity of her own. In her article Maggie Tulliver s long suicide1974 Elizabeth Deeds Ermarth says that Maggie eventually believes the lie, that she is inferior, or wrong, or not to be taken seriously. She learned to collaborate in her own defeat . ELIZABETH ERMARTH also comments on how society affects Maggie since she was shaped to be a child by the family pieties, it is fitting that her life ends in a reversion to childhood where her energies to be an adult, tragically, are unneeded. Moving on to her relationships, Ermarth analyses that her relationships with Mr.Tulliver and her brother Tom Tulliver play a very important role in her being a selfless person. The view of God from various cultures and civilizations differs in a sense, but remains true to the entity of what it means to be a deity. Each culture throughout history has been able to put their spin on what it means to be a god, whether it be in the form of Zeus for the Greeks, Mars for the Romans, or Brahma for the Hindus. However, among each of these cultures a god is still a divine being capable of powers beyond the reach of the human and mortal dimension. In The Last Question, Isaac Asimov illuminates a unique perspective on what it is to be a god, human relationship to God, and the form a god can take. Creating order in the previously chaotic universe would only be feasible under the power of divine influence for it is a law of the universe itself that chaos shall trump order. This demonstrates power that transcends the universe and dimensions of man, and that because Multivac has this boundless influence, Multivac is therefore a God. While Multivac is God by its traits, being God also requires being God to something. If a god is to be divine and transcend limitations in a domain, there must be a domain to transcend. Summary Of The Rich Man Scene The Rich Man scene occurs in Section B of Part 2 of Mark, just after Jesus blesses little children by Him taking the children and blessing them in His arms and by saying I assure you that whoever does not receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter the Kingdom of God (10:15). Just after Jesus turns around and said to his disciples How hard it will be for rich people to enter the Kingdom of God! (10:23), Jesus speaks to them about his death the third time and how he will be handed over to the chief priests and condemned to death, but will rise again. As to the genre of this periscope, it is much like the story before it 10:13 16, where the children will enter the Kingdom of God without much effort. What Jesus is trying to tell us and his disciples is that one can only enter the kingdom like a child, empty handed and trusting, open to growth and malleable. (J.A. Draper) The structure of the story is V. 17 18 Jesus starts his journey again and a man coming up to him; vv. 20 22 dialogue between the man and Jesus; v. 23 Jesus explains to the disciples. Verse by Verse Analysis V. 17 Good Teacher as soon as Jesus left the house where he blessed the children (10:13 16), Jesus is confronted by a man who kneels at his feet right away and asks Good Teacher, what must I do to receive eternal life? This view of Information systems is useful in applying industry standards for protection as well as prevention at all layers (Spagnoletti and Resca, 2008). Procedures will tell the personnel operating, or the administrators, how the products would ensure organizational information security. Information System implies information that requires protection from improper access, disclosure, or destruction (Spagnoletti and Resca, 2008). This is possible if the system ensures availability, confidentiality, as well as integrity of any data in an organization. Corporations, financial institutions, and governments have a lot of information on products, finances, research, and employees. This information usually resides in electronic media and may move from one point to another. Furthermore, with the advances in networks, transmission to other computers or access points within a physical location or across the globe is possible. Any breach of the information may have far reaching consequences such as bankruptcy, loss of competitive edge or lawsuits from customers or business partners (Mithas et al, 2011). • 16. The Global War on Terror A Middle Ground Essay about the Global War on Terror Introduction Over the last several years, the approach that is used in the War on Terror has been increasingly brought to the forefront. This is because there has been a shift in public opinion about the impact of specific events and the tactics to achieve a host of objectives. A good example of this can be seen with the use of special operations forces and the shooting spree of Robert Bales. He was an American soldier who was on his fourth tour in Afghanistan. One night after drinking heavily is when he snapped and went on a shooting spree (killing 16 civilians). This has an adverse impact on the US military s involvement in the region and the tactics they are using to achieve different objectives in the War of Terror. As a result, this is illustrating how a balanced approach must be taken over the long term. This will allow the nation to deal with the costs and resources of fighting this war more effectively. Over the long term, these kinds of techniques will make the US more efficient in going after terrorist organizations (by taking a middle of the road approach). ( Sergeant Robert Bales, ) This is appropriate, in illustrating how the middle ground approach is necessary at this time. The reason why is: the military and other resources are being increasingly strained by this long commitment. Women and the 1st Century Jesus Movement Essay There are no known writings that chronicle the life of Jesus or his teachings during his lifetime; rather there is an accumulation of written sources that arose decades after his death (Seat 8/25). Originally, Jesus teachings were passed down orally, but eventually, Christians began to write down the oral traditions decades later after his death, specifically after the destruction of the Jewish Temple in 70CE (Seat 8/25). As a result, it is important to note that there is a time discrepancy. Jesus died in 30 CE, but it was not until 70CE that Christians began to write down his teachings; therefore, this time difference has led to different interpretations of his teachings (Seat 9/1). Thurston explains that to follow is a technical term for discipleship throughout the Gospel and she also explains that ministered is best translated to provided or served (Thurston 69). Therefore, Jesus male disciples followed him and were expected to minister, actions which were also carried out by the women as depicted in the Gospel of Mark (i.e. Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joses, etc). From this explanation, one can conclude that women in the 1st century Jesus movement assisted Jesus in his mission to spread Christianity. It is also important to note, that the women in the Gospel of Mark, unlike Jesus male disciples, understand Jesus significance. For instance, in Mark 14:3 9, an anonymous woman anoints Jesus head with an expensive oil, and in response the people at the dinner table criticize her action. In this case, Thurston contends that the anointment foreshadows Jesus death and that more importantly the anonymous woman comprehends that Jesus is the crucified Messiah (Thurston 75). This demonstrates that women in the 1st century Jesus movement understood who Jesus was, which explains why they displayed unyielding faith. The males on the other hand are ... The two characters act as foils to each other, each experiencing the same situations as the other, but it is their responses to the situations that show the difference between the two. For example, both the husky and the man break through the ice and got their paws/feet wet: Suddenly it (the husky) broke through the water that clung to it turned to ice (London 500) and then later the man broke through (the ice) (London 501 502). Because of this innate ability of the husky, he survived the ordeal whereas the man died of hypothermia after his fire, which was meant to dry out his foot, was snuffed out by the Northern snow. It was as though he had heard his own sentence of death. For a moment he sat there and stared at the spot where the fire had been (London 503). My father was an abusive parent, mentally, physically, and sexually. He was also an alcoholic. My years from kindergarten to second grade are vague, with the exceptions of a few prominent memories and feelings of being constantly scared. My year in first grade, my mother made the decision to leave. One night, while my father was out drinking, my mother s co worker came in a U haul truck, we loaded up the truck and left. After approximately three weeks into our new lives, my father found us. He would pick us up from our new school, take us to his friend s house and call my mother to let her know he had us. He would have us talk to her and then he would end the call threatening to keep us from her indefinitely. They finally divorced and my mother married her co worker, Tom, who had helped us leave our father. He bought a home for us, in a stable neighborhood, and I began another new school in second grade. My first prominent memory of reading happened in second grade. I remember receiving a reading anthology book and being able to read the stories. I can remember the thrill of having this ability to not only see the letters, but know that they made words and understood what they meant. This did not begin my love of reading but my ability to read. My love of reading had been modeled for me from birth. My mother had always been an avid reader in the ... The Influence Of Media Bias On American Teenagers Megan Beach Composition 1102 Professor McGriff November 7, 2017 How has Media Bias influenced the thoughts of American teenagers and can we avoid Media Bias and receive the facts? Introduction: Media bias is a real issue. No matter what news source you are observing, everyone is going to have their own opinion about a news topic. In order to make sure that we are receiving the truth, we must make sure that we are doing our own research prior to making conclusions. My goal is to inform you about media bias so that you can learn ways to identify the truth rather than what journalists want you to believe. I also want to show you the influence that media bias has on young American teenagers. Thesis: Media bias has influenced the minds of young Americans while withholding veracious facts causing the rate of American teenagers who watch the news to go down. What is Media Bias? Of course, the work that occurs throughout the passage resembles the work that a cultural anthropologist would do. In the beginning of the passage, Miner explains how an anthropologist becomes accustomed to the peculiar traditions of different cultures because they interact and closely examine them. It is this reason why I believe this article would fall under the field of cultural anthropology. Cultural Anthropology is defined as the study of culture, traditions, and environment (Haviland, 2017). Nussbaum identifies objectification as a pejorative term, connoting a way of speaking, thinking, and acting that the speaker finds morally or socially objectionable, usually, though not always, in the sexual realm. Nussbaum s definition is vague, like many of her other works, and places the connotation of the word itself into the speaker s own hands. Her entire seven step system that is used to outline what is and is not objectification, seems to echo her previous work regarding the ten capabilities, another approach I found to be too generalized and too deeply engrained in Western culture. Well, this article is taking a step back in time all the way to the early 1900 s to look at the way that Coco Chanel changed fashion. Coco Chanel was all about empowering women through her designs by throwing stereotypes of how women should dress out of the window. She introduced many trends that we still see within todays society with many of her original products still on sale even after her death in 1971. One of her original designs in the early 1920 s was the little black dress. The dress was an update for the modern women, known for both its silhouette and dark tone. Since the Victorian times, the dark tone was commonly associated with mourning. However this was soon changed after, with Coco being the one of the causes that made black a colour which could be worn everyday, for Coco black was simple elegance. One of her competitors, Paul Poiret reportedly scoffed at Chanel in the street, asking her, What are you in mourning for, Mademoiselle? The quick witted designer responded, For you, dear Monsieur. Touché! One of the ways that she broke the female stereotype was breaking the social rule that trousers were only for men. When WWI broke out in 1914, many women who worked in manual roles in harder conditions began to wear trousers to the workplace for safety and comfort. Coco Chanel also loved wearing trousers herself, often borrowing her boyfriend s suits, she then began ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Authors such as Wilfred Owen(foot soldier who fought and died serving for his country in world war one), Stephen Crane(war correspondent who covered the Spanish American war), Kevin Powers(soldier who fought in Iraq), and Tim O Brien(soldier who fought in Vietnam), have written stories and poems to prove this. These authors will use imagery, irony, and structure to protest War and to illustrate how negative war is. In the poem Dulce et Decorum Est, by Wilfred Owen, imagery is demonstrated to protest War by showing us how horrific and deadly war is. In stanza two the author states, GAS! GAS! Quick, boys! An ecstasy of fumbling.....Dim, through the misty panes and thick green light, as under a green sea (Owen). Based on the reading one can see how visual imagery is being used. Owen fought in World War One and he is trying to convey an image of the gas attack, he was a part of in this war. The systematic study of learning is relatively new as it was in the late nineteenth century that studies in this realm began in a scientific manner. Psychologists borrowed techniques from the physical sciences, and conducted experiments to understand how people and animals learn. Psychologists have tried in the past to define and explain how learning takes place. Two of the most important early researchers were Ivan Pavlov and Edward Thorndike. Among later researchers, B. F. Skinner was important for his studies of the relationship between behaviour and consequences. They are also known ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They found as reported by Myers D.G, that half a second works well. However if the food i.e. the unconditioned stimulus (UCS) appeared before the bell, the conditioned stimulus (CS), then conditioning is not likely to occur. The bell signals the arrival of food. Pavlov called this the law of contiguity: The closer the two are in time (with neutral stimulus preceding presentation of UCS), the stronger the conditioning (generally speaking) Extinction. This concept is similar to common sense idea of forgetting. Pavlov found that when he sounded the tone repeatedly without presenting food, the dog s salivation also decreased. After the conditioning phase, the conditioned response (CR) gets weaker when the conditioned stimulus (CS) or the bell is not accompanied by the UCS (food). It gets weaker not because the organism no longer remembers the UCS CS connection. It gets weaker because CR is somehow inhibited. Spontaneous recovery. After extinction trials, the dog will start to salivate again in response to CS after only one pairing of UCS and CS. Pavlov called it spontaneous recovery, where the weakened conditioned response reappeared after a rest pause. This according to Pavlov occurred because extinction was suppressing the conditioned response and not eliminating it. (Myers D.G. p 295) Generalization. Generalization is a ...
