1. Essays On Economics
Crafting an essay on the subject of economics can be a formidable task, requiring a delicate
balance of analytical thinking, research skills, and the ability to articulate complex economic
concepts in a coherent manner. The intricacies of economic theories, the ever-evolving landscape
of global markets, and the interplay of various factors make this topic both challenging and
intellectually stimulating.
One of the initial hurdles lies in navigating through a vast sea of economic literature.
Understanding and synthesizing the diverse perspectives within the field can be overwhelming,
as economists often approach issues from contrasting schools of thought. This requires not only a
solid grasp of economic principles but also the discernment to critically evaluate and integrate
different viewpoints.
Research is a fundamental aspect, and delving into economic data, case studies, and scholarly
articles is crucial for providing a solid foundation to support your arguments. The challenge here
is to sift through copious amounts of information, identify relevant sources, and extract pertinent
data to bolster your essay's credibility.
The task becomes even more demanding when addressing current economic issues. Staying
abreast of the latest developments in the economic landscape is essential for presenting a
nuanced and up-to-date analysis. This demands not only time and dedication but also the ability
to synthesize information rapidly and discern the implications of economic events.
Moreover, effective communication is paramount. Translating complex economic theories into
accessible language without oversimplifying is an art. Striking the right balance between depth of
analysis and readability is a continual challenge. Additionally, ensuring that your arguments flow
logically, building a cohesive narrative, adds another layer of complexity to the writing process.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on economics is a task that demands a multifaceted skill set.
From a deep understanding of economic theories to adept research skills and the ability to
communicate complex ideas effectively, the process is a journey through intellectual challenges.

2. How Does Holden Use Figurative Language
concrete detail/imagery (Voth) Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger, uses
figurative language to tell Holden s story. Salinger also uses similes and
metaphors to help characterize and advance his story. His similes are mostly there
to help create the characters of the story. A good example of this is when Holden
says: That guy Morrow was about as sensitive as a toilet seat Holden is a teenager
and throughout the book his attitude reflects that. You can tell by the way he talks
and thinks.this book is really all his thoughts, so similes like these really help
construct Holden s character. Besides similes and metaphors, Salinger uses another
kind of figurative language called symbolism. symbolism plays a huge role in
creating Holden s story. One of the more obvious symbols in The Catcher in the
Rye is its title. In one point in the book, Holden explains to Phoebe, his sister, that
he wants to be the catcher in the rye. He sees himself wearing a giant mitt, trying to
catch the children as they fall off a cliff while playing in the rye.... Show more content

That little lake? By any chance, do you happen to know where they go, the ducks,
when it gets all frozen over? These ducks symbolize Holden in that they are unable
to stay where they are. Holden has been expelled from several prep schools. The
ducks have to leave when the pond freezes over, and Holden has to leave when he
gets himself into trouble. Holden s red hunting hat that he occasionally wears
throughout the book is also a symbol. It symbolizes his independence. He makes a
point to mention his hat every time he wears it, trying to show his audience how
independent he is.The fact that he often takes it off when around people, highlights
his inner conflict between wanting to be isolated and wanting to feel like he
belongs. Holden is all about wearing the hat in private, but he s embarrassed to wear
it in public. This hinted at in the start of Chapter
3. Running Economy
Running economy is defined as the energy demand for a given velocity of
submaximal running, and is determined by measuring the steady state consumption
of oxygen and the respiratory exchange ration. Running economy is like fuel in a
vehicle. How much fuel does it take to operate a car or a person s body. Other factor
contributed to how much energyis required to fuel a runner, including metabolic
adaption, the energy storing ability of muscles and how well a runner s body utilizes
energy. Although, I found some of the terms in the article to understand, I found the
study to indicate there was a connection between runningeconomy and various
factors, such as kinematic variables.

4. The Effects Of Violence On The Media
The effect of violence in the media is a big controversy; some say it affects are
society and others say that there is not any proof of this. There are many theories
on how violence in media does, and how it does not, affect our society. Many
people claim watching television or even playing video games will affect children s
or young adults minds. Researches claim that they found no evidence of change in
aggressiveness in children or young adults while playing video games.
Researchers allowed children that had been diagnosed with disruptive behavior
disorder and to play violent video games and found no change in pattern when or
even after these children played. This study measured activity in the frontal cortex
of the brain by using two groups of five girls and fourteen boys while they made a
task requiring focus. The frontal cortex has been related to problems having to do
with self control and attention. One of the groups was considered aggressive and
also diagnosed with disruptive behavior disorder and the second group had no
history of any behavioral problems. Half of the children in each group had been
opened to high levels of media violence; this included them watching and playing
violent video games and television. The results of the experiment showed that all of
the aggressive children had reduced activity in the frontal cortex of their brains. The
non aggressive group of children that were exposed to high levels of media violence
showed a lower amount of brain
5. Difference Between Developed And Developed Countries
In the last century, incomes in the less developed (or euphemistically, the developing
) countries have fallen far behind those in the developed countries, both
proportionately and absolutely. I estimate that from 1870 to 1990 the ratio of per
capita incomes between the richest and the poorest countries increased by roughly a
factor of five and that the difference in incomebetween the richest country and all
others has increased by an order of magnitude.1 This divergence is the result of the
very different patterns in the long run economic performance of two sets of
countries. One set of countries call them the developed or the advanced capitalist
(Maddison, 1995) or the high income OECD (World Bank, 1995) is easily, if
awkwardly, identified as European countries and their offshoots plus Japan. Since
1870, the long run growth rates of these countries have been rapid (by previous
historical standards), their growth rates have been remarkably similar, and the
poorer members of the group grew sufficiently faster to produce considerable
convergence in absolute income levels. The other set of countries, called the
developing or less developed or nonindustrialized, can be easily, if still awkwardly,
defined only as the other set of countries, as they have nothing else in common. The
growth rates of this set of countries have been, on average, slower than the richer
countries, producing divergence in relative incomes. But amongst this set of countries
there have
6. Expose Participants To Sleep Deprivation
I consider that the experiment is one you have in mind is interesting indeed. I also
consider that you have mentioned in detail the key variables; furthermore, the
formulation of your hypothesis is specific and can be measurable. In your study
you propose to expose participants to sleep deprivation for 30 days. This could be
an obstacle to be approved by the Institutional Review Board (IRB). IRB are the
entities that review proposals for studies to determine if they comply with the
requirements of the code of ethics. Participants, who are not used to lack of sleep,
could have an accident while driving and/or at the workplace (if they operate
machinery or other equipment that require full attention). In the study s informed
consent you must
7. The Parable Of The Sower
The world behind the text Considered the first of the four Gospels to be written,
Mark was believed to be the interpreter of Peter who wrote down what Peter said. It
is widely believed that Mark was written in Greek for a gentile audience as his
writing would often explain Jewish terms and customs to the reader. When
seeking out the location of where Mark was written, there is no clear evidence of a
specific place however, other regions and intended audiences are also considered
plausible, which include: Italy, Rome, Egypt, Palestine and Syria. The style of
Mark is simple but effective, in terms of his Greek, he was not considered to be a
brilliant writer. This simplicity of the style may be an indication of the level of
education of the author or of the intended audience or both. The Parable of the
Sower (Mark 4:1 12, NRSV) is written with the intent to teach a lesson to the reader.
Jesus shares a parable with a large group of people and later explores this with his
disciples. This passage gives the reader the chance to hear the parable and also its
intended meaning. Whilst this story is popular in catholic teaching, it is not
exclusive to Mark. The Parable of the Sower can also be found in Matthew 13:1 23,
Mark 4:10 12 and Luke 8:9 10; 10:23 24 with various differences and parallels
between each. The world of the text In the lead up to this passage, Jesus appoints his
twelve disciples and begins to gather a crowd of followers. The gathering of this
crowd creates the

Development
I. INTRODUCTION
This capstone project literature review intends among others things, to refine the
research ideas, demonstrate awareness of the current state of knowledge on training
curriculum development, its limitations and how the research fits in the context of a
learning organization.
This research process makes a good starting point for the capstone project. The
research uses evidence from conceptual theories to database research literature from
several learning organizations training development methodologies. Booth, W. C.,
Colomb, G. G., Williams, J. M. (2008) pointed out that one good source is worth
more than dozens of mediocre sources.

A system is an interconnected set of elements that is coherently organized in a way
that achieves something. If you look at the definition closely for a minute, you can
see that a system must consist of three kinds of things: elements, interconnections and
a function or purpose. (Meadows. D, 2009). Others have come up with similar
definitions of systems, including: Senge (2012) suggested that the discipline of
systems thinking is useful for seeing and understanding wholes, interrelations and
change patterns. Second is roundtable theory which is a shared leadership theory for
school change. Gabriele (2002) explained that involving stakeholders in the decision
making process through shared leadership can lead to higher levels of commitment.
Lastly Argyris and Schon (1978) argued that organizational learning was critical to an
organization s survival. They argued that Double Loop learning was the most
effective way of making informed decisions about the way we design and carry out
the action in achieving organization learning.
The following section list publications that are areas of strength as it relates to system
thinking in organization development:

Gatsby strives after the perfect life with the perfect girl but he fails to achieve his
American dream because he acquired his money illegally and he tries to convince
people to do things they don t want to do. Gatsby s epic dream of the perfect life is
very innocent and beautiful but it s slowly dyed dark by the way in which he ends

10. Nancy s Surgical Procedure
Nancy was an 80 year old woman who was cooking dinner for her and her grandson.
When the unthinkable happened, the long sleeved shirt that she was wearing caught
fire. She yelled for help! Her grandson came to her rescue and helped her. 911 were
called immediately. When the paramedics arrived on the scene, they evaluated Nancy
and took her to the hospitaldue to her injuries. She sustained burns to the anterior
and posterior right upper arm as well as the anterior and posterior thorax. Parts of
her skin were black and charred and some parts of her skin had blisters. She was
admitted into the hospital where doctors did further testing and treatment to her
burns. Due to Nancy s burns, her skin was severely affected. For starters, when Nancy

11. Chemoprevention Essay
Chemoprevention is assigned by either selecting prevention of esophageal acid
exposure using proton pump inhibitor (PPI) therapy or modulation of pro
inflammatory mechanisms45. Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are used generally in
the handling of acid related disorders. They function by permanently obstructing the
hydrogen/potassium adenosine triphosphatase enzyme system (the H+/K+ ATPase,
or, more frequently, the gastric proton pump) of the gastric parietal cells. The proton
pump is the terminal stage in gastric acidsecretion and is directly accountable for
secreting H+ ions into the gastric lumen, leading the pump to be an excellent target
for preventing acid secretion. Targeting the terminal step in acid production, as well
as the irreversible nature of the inhibition, results in a class of drugs that are
considerably more efficient than H2... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This class of medication has been available for commercial use for almost 25 years,
and it has exceeded the use of histamine 2 receptor antagonists (H2RA) for patients
with moderate to severe gastric acid related diseases as well as for prophylaxis of
upper gastrointestinal (GI) injury (with nonsteroidal anti inflammatory drugs). PPI
therapy can lead to partial regression of intestinal metaplasia (IM) in BE patients, as
demonstrated by the development of macroscopic islands of squamous epithelium
and the accompanying shortening of columnar epithelium, although inconsistently46,
47. The absolute indications for PPI therapy comprise peptic ulcer disease, chronic
nonsteroidal anti inflammatory drugs use, treatment of Helicobacter pylori, and
erosive esophagitis. Despite a substantial decrease in the risk of neoplastic
progression in patients with BE on prolonged PPI use, total eradication of BE with
medical therapy alone is rarely, if ever,
12. Horror Movies Are All the same
Horror movies generally are all the same. They all have been based off of
something that has already happened or a previous movie. Society has paid to be
entertained by these gruesome stories that we all truly fear. Before movies, people
would purchase books of similar traumatic events to read in their spare time for
amusement. It has been said by the Filmmakers IQ s horror filmlesson (2012), that
writers such as Bram Stoker created graphic novels that would grab the audience s
attention for years to come. But the horror movie, The House Of The Devil (1896),
was noted as being the first ever horror movie. And as the years pasted, the industry
grew and became stronger. But Ryan Koo (2013) stated that it was not truly until after

Stoker s heir still ended up suing, and the courts ordered all copies of Nosferatu be
destroyed. But a single copy of the film had been missed and later was revealed. The
story of Dracula is continually told and being remade even today. It is something
that has always frightened people, so the industry continues to build off it. The
older generation of writers such as Bram Stoker and Mary Shelly are known for
German Expressionism. German Expressionism is responsible for creating The
Cabinet Of Dr. Caligari, which is still considered one of the greatest silence films
created in the era. Ryan Koo (2013) claims the film also took credit for being one
of the first to example story board and having a twist ending. Once the film had
been created it lead people to explore the possibilities of the art of horror.
Following the creation of The Cabinet Of Dr. Caligari was the making of The
Golem. This film continued to be remade over the years. Writters from New york
State Writers Institute (2011) say it started with a man by the name of Paul
Wegener. He was fascinated by the legend of the Golem. The story spoke of a giant
clay monster that saved Pragues Jewish citizens for an emperor that believed they
were ritually killing children. Gothic Horror has to be one of the best forms of art.
Which is probably why film markers continue to go back to it. It played on both the

13. Common Criminal Weapons
Guns are the most common weapons used in murder cases. And it is used to
identify the murderer. Criminals can cover up most evidence but they often forget
about the evidence left by the weapon itself. Starting in 1835 with a defect found in
a bullet recovered from the victim and ballistic evidence has been useful ever since.
In 1854 a wading of newspaper was found in the barrel of the weapon used and the
newspaper was found in the suspects house.
The earliest use of bullet examination can be found in 1902 when Oliver Wendell
Holmes fired a bullet into cotton and compared to the bullet recovered from the crime
scene with a magnifying glass. This way was studied and perfected using a
microscope to compare bullet striations in 1912. In 1925
14. The Political Contributions Of The Treaty Of Versailles
In 1919, the Treaty of Versailles became one of the most important agreements of
all times that led to the end of World War I. The big four dominant leaders were
David Lloyd George, George Clemenceau, Woodrow Wilson, and Vittorio Orlando.
They met in France at the Paris peace conference to end the war between Germany
and Allied powers. The four major countries who joined were Great Britain, France,
United States, and Italy. Many for seen changes were about to occur from
disagreements, vengeance, and new organizations. The treaty now only developed
political shifts, but altered history in a way these men never imagined.
The Treaty of Versaillesnational leaders all had different opinions on how to bring
about their ideas to retain peace and prevent another war. David Lloyd George (1916
1922) who served as a prime minister for Great Britain wanted nothing more than to
teach Germany a lesson. He pushed for an appropriate punishment that fit their
enemy, but without them seeking revenge to prevent another war from happening.
Even though Great Britain faced many economic challenges after the war this
agreement was the key and opportunity to obtain vengeance for their losses. George
Clemenceau (1917 1920) who served as a prime minister of France wanted full
retaliation against Germany because the French were the most who got affected
during World War I. They not only wanted revenge, but compensation for the
extensive damages Germany had incurred to their country. The treaty for

The weather of the months leading up to the South East Queensland floods not only
gives an indication of the weather patterns before the flood, but shows the continuity
and change in the weather, which ended up causing this catastrophic natural disaster.
The SE QLD floods was the result of a continuum of a build up of conditions, which
can be seen in the synoptic charts.
As seen in the Mid September month, there were many high pressure systems of
1025+ hectopascals affecting australia, in particular the south west areas of the
country. The ridges of the high pressure systems impacted the North east parts of
Australia as well, including most of QLD. This caused clear skies, and dry weather

more prominent rainfall was found, in which QLD experienced wet and generally
warm days in the north, and wet and cool days in the south east. On the 25th of the
month, North Queensland was impacted from the low pressure system condition,
bringing heavy rain, for example most of the Cairns region recorded more than
200mm during the week. With a trough extending from Northern Territory to QLD
also brought strengthened conditions to this area of the country. This trough is the
beginning of an easterly dip, which are good sources of flood conditions. This
weather in November impacted this area of QLD greatly, meaning as the disaster
unfolded, the conditions of SE QLD aided the disaster to have an even greater impact.

Introduction
The UK Financial Services Act of 2012 was put into effect the 1st of April 2013 and

other supervisory roles in the financial services sector, which include the following.
The oversight role of the Bank of England was bestowed therefore, it is expected to be

two committees (PRA and FCA) on the matters to do with the macro prudential
regulations as well as making the relevant recommendations to the Bank of England
and other committees to keep record of the financial stability (Noked, 2013). Indeed,
the FPC is within the Bank of England. Apart from identifying risks that could
possibly affect the sector, the committee makes sure that they are addressed in the
best possible way. An important feature of the FPC is that it has the power to
increase the capital that banks in the UK should have during a certain period of time
according to the state of the economy (UK Government, 2015).
Impacts of the Prudential Regulatory Authority
The Prudential Regulatory Authority (PRA) is the macro prudential regulatory body,
which is expected to ensure that there is a well regulated structure for deposit takers,
insurance bodies and the investment firms in the UK. Its main objective is to make
sure that there is a safe operation in these entities, which is expected to be attained
via preventing unfavourable effects of their activities or of the financial sector as a
whole. Furthermore, the PRA is in charge of reducing the effects of disruptions on

traditional purposes of the organization which include giving relief to and serving as
a medium of communication between members of the American armed forces and
their families and providing national and international disaster relief and mitigation.
Prior to the First World War, the Red Cross introduced its first aid, water safety,
and public health nursing programs. With the outbreak of war, the organization
experienced phenomenal growth. The number of local chapters jumped from 107
in 1914 to 3,864 in 1918 and membership grew from 17,000 to over 20 million adult
and 11 million Junior Red Cross members. The public contributed $400 million in
funds and material to support Red Cross programs, including those for American
and Allied forces and civilian refugees. The Red Cross staffed hospitals and
ambulance companies and recruited 20,000 registered nurses to serve the military.
After the war, the Red Cross focused on service to veterans and enhanced their
programs in safety training, accident prevention, home care for the sick, and
nutrition education. They also provided relief for victims of such major disasters as
the Mississippi River floods in 1927 and severe drought and the Depression during
the 1930s. The Second World

Marriage is the destiny traditionally offered to women by society. It is still true that
most women are married, or have been, or plan to be, or suffer from not being. The
celibate woman is to be explained and defined with reference to marriage, whether

hand, she is just an asset waiting to be liquidated in the name of bride
19. Failure Modes And Effects Analysis
Some key differences concerning the failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA)
and a root cause analysis (RCA) are clarified. Failure mode and effects analysis is
conducted prior to any event. FMEA is a preventive action used to help prevent a
failure. The FMEA committee consists of about three to four members who all are
experts in the designated subject. Through FMEA the committee helps develop
action plans to reduce the risk of failure (Quality One, 2011). RCA is an
investigation that occurs after a sentinel event that is unexpected. Through the RCA
you are looking to find out why did an event occur or not occur, how the event
happened, and how to prevent additional events for occurring (VA National Center
for Patient Safety, 2015).
20. The Credibility Of Media Analysis
In today s world, technology consumes the daily life of many citizens. With the
availability of the media at our very fingertips, we have become loyal to the media.
Many people rely on the media for the news and important information going on in
the world, when at one point you could only find this in the daily newspaperthat was
dropped off at your door every morning. There is an issue with relying on the media
for important information, and that is because they manipulate us. They make us
believe what they want and it s become almost a form of entertainment, similar to
TMZ. Let s start off by looking at CNN, which is popular for world news and
politics. You would think that if they were covering these important topics, then they

could be a completely wrong assumption, but that is what the evidence leads to as
well as censorship. Not only are we manipulated by the TV news stations and
magazines, but in the advertisements we see everywhere. This is a popular topic of
anger because many people are aware of the fact that companies tend
21. Muriel Cooper Research Paper
Born in 1925 in Boston, Massachusetts, Muriel Cooper was a graphic design
pioneer who anticipated the digital revolution. She has long been considered to be
quite revolutionary as the realm of design shifted into the digital age. Muriel was the
longtime art director of the MIT Press, implementing a Bauhaus oriented design style
into its numerous publications. In 1944, she received her BA from Ohio state and a
BS in educationfrom Massachusetts Collegeof Art, in 1951 (Brinkerhoff 63). Soon
after graduating, Cooper moved to New York City for a chance to find a position in
advertising. Here, she met Paul Rand who was quite influential to her design way of
life . She was soon a freelance designer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology,
22. Evaluation Of A Summative Evaluation
Component Two
Type of evaluation The type of evaluation that will be conducted will be a summative
evaluation. The summative evaluation will be conducted at the end of the program to
see if the goals of the program were accomplished. Were the children able to learn
about nutrition
Evaluation Goals
1)To determine if this program is successful in educating the children in various
cooking techniques.
2)To help children in a low income area discover affordable ways to meal preparation.
3)To determine if the program can be conducted in other low in come areas.
Evaluation Questions
1)Are the children committed to coming to the class on a weekly basis?
2)Is the program providing the children with life skills they can apply at home?
3)Are the children enjoying the program?
Rationale
The rationale of this evaluation is to confirm that the goals of the program are being
meet. That the children are being educated in making healthy choices and
participating in the program. In order for the evaluation to be accurate research needs
to determine if the program will be effective.
Component Three
Literature Review Learning how to cook is an essential life skill that not only
children need but youth as well. In an article by Jessica Herbert and her fellow
authors they mentioned how by participating in a cooking program it helps children

23. The Rna Guided Crispr Cas9 System
The RNA guided CRISPR Cas9 system has revolutionized genetic engineering by
allowing targeted genomic modification through the simple design of a 20 base
pair guiding sequences. This groundbreaking technology utilizes a short guide
RNA (sgRNA) to direct the Cas9 nuclease to a specific genomic locus through
complementary base pairing. The guide RNA or sgRNA is responsible for the
specificity of the CRISPR Cas9 system, and several consideration need to be taken
during its design process. In bacteria and archaea, the crRNA and tracrRNA form a
complex which acts as the homing device for directing the Cas9 nuclease to the
invading foreign genetic materials. The tarcrRNA s scaffolding ability along with the
specificity of the crRNA can be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A higher GC stabilizes the RNA: DNA duplex while destabilized off target
hybridization; (2) Length: the length could be adjusted and ranged from 17 24bp.
A shorted sequence leads to minimized off target effects (17bp is the lowest limit
on the length of the guiding sequence, any sequence shorter that 17 has a statistical
chance of targeting multiple genomic loci); and (3) potential off target effects:
Mismatch tolerance between the gRNA and target site is what leads to off target
effects of the CRISPR Cas9 system and in general they depend on A) position of
the mismatch, B) number of mismatches on a given gRNA, C) the sequence of the
gRNA, and D) concertation of the gRNA and Cas9 transfected. For the purpose of
creating a small indel mutations through NHEJ, there are many possible target sites
across any protein. Targeting closer to the N terminus of a protein coding region is
more desirable, because of a frameshift is more likely to be deleterious.
CRISPR is especially useful, because, unlike ZNF or TALEN, they rely on a guide
RNA or gRNA (though the bacterial immune system relied on two RNA strands
crRNA and tracrRNA), which makes CRISPR much more versatile, cheaper and
easier to use. ZNF and TALEN required synthesis of specific parts of the protein so
that a customized target sequence could be
24. Nursing Theories Of A Nursing Theory
A nursing theory can be defined as the concepts and assumptions used to explain,
predict and control the practice of nursing. These theories provide a systematic view
of the profession by organizing the relationships between all of the phenomena (i.e.
events, people, and actions) that are associated with practice (Current Nursing, 2012).
Nursing theories serve multiple purposes within the profession such as indicating the
direction in which the practice will advance over time by predicting future
relationships and occurrences. They establish the foundations for behavior and
knowledge by explaining the practice through the models presented and the detailed
descriptions of nursing phenomena. In addition, these theories can help distinguish
the professional boundaries needed in practice to maintain a respectful and ethical
relationship between patients and healthcare professionals. Nursing theories also
have the ability to portray nursing in multiple lights to fit the situation at hand. This
ability stems from the multiple categories of theories that each address a distinct
part of practice. For example outcome theories focus on the end goal for the patient s
recovery and describe the nurse as the force behind coping and adaptation, while
interaction theories focus on the patient s mental state and describes nurses as a
positive relationship (Current Nursing, 2012). One of the more widely known
outcome theories is the Adaptation Model presented by Sister Callista Roy in
25. Essay The State of Michigan
Michigan is the only state in the union composed to two separated peninsulas. At
the closest point, the upper and lower peninsulas are a mere five miles apart. In the
early twentieth century, the only way to make the trip across the five miles of
Lake Michigan and Lake Huron was to take a boat ride from one side to the other.
As businesses expanded and industry grew, the demand to cross the lakes for travel
and commerce purposes grew. The only way to cross the lake was by means of a
ferry service, which was unable to keep up with consumer demand. Michigan
residents were unable to get convenient and frequent transport between the
peninsulas. They needed a consistent, fast, and safe way to travel freely from the

However, after proposing a needed sum of 35 million dollars to complete the
project, the PWA denied funding (Brown 6). Even after revisions to the original plan
and an endorsement of feasibility from the United States Army Corps of Engineers,
the project was still deemed financially impossible by the PWA (Shaul 24). The
Mackinac Bridge Authority was dissolved entirely in in 1947 in light of World War

the bridge (Brown 8 9). After multiple appeals to the state and federal governments
for funding to construct the bridge, the Mackinac Bridge Authority (MBA) worked
for the next two years to determine the economic costs of building the Mackinac
Bridge. In 1952, they produced a figure of 76.3 million dollars (Brown 11). This
time, however, the MBA decided to stop chasing government funding and finance
the bridge strictly using private bonds. Once interest was calculated, it was
estimated that the MBA would need a total of 96 million dollars to complete the
project (Brown 16). The economics of the project now began to finally sway from
costs to benefits. Each bond underwriter stood the chance to make considerable
money by helping to finance the bridge. On December 17, 1953, Allen Company

This report provides useful information about emotional intelligence that could solve
this problem.
My assessment was done online through Emotional Quotient Inventory. The study
done by CIBC consisted of data collected over a six month period and emotional
intelligence scores done through Emotional Quotient Inventory.
2.0 My Emotional Intelligence Assessment
By using Emotional Quotient Inventory, it helped me to identify my perceived
frequency of emotionally intelligent behaviours in terms of fifteen established
emotional intelligence skills.
2.1 Analysis
Among the fifteen emotional intelligence skills, five of which have been identified as
significant areas, including top three strengths and two areas offering the greatest
opportunity for personal development.

27. My top three strengths are interpersonal relationship, emotional self awareness, and
happiness; and my two weaknesses are social responsibility and self regard.
The Interpersonal Relationship component is defined as the ability to develop and
maintain mutually rewarding relationships that are characterized by intimacy and the
exchange of affection (Multi Health Systems Inc., 2012). I am generally able to
establish mutually satisfying relationships through communication that includes a
balance of listening, empathy, and sharing of

Do you know how you learn about your identity? Is it through eExperiences or
people in your life? According to dictanory.com identity means being a who or what
as a person or a thing. For example I have an identity, and you have identity. Identity
is a really important thing. Individuals learn about himself through the people in their
lives.
Flowers and Freckle Cream is about a girl that thought poorly of herself and did
not like the way that she looked. Until her grandpa really helped her know that she
is special, and that she matters. I don t know where grandpa found it. It wasn t at all

my mother told me later. I had cried myself to sleep that night, and when I opened my
swollen, sticky eyes the next morning, the first thing I saw , lying on the pillow next
to my head, was a tiger lily. It was clear that grandpa didn t understand, so I tried to
explain why I didn t want to have freckles and why I felt so inadequate when I

This country was founded by immigrants and is known for its population from a

by their inner qualities. One may identify by their looks, gender, sexuality, political
views, or their beliefs. Some may have an identity that is dynamic and ever changing

According to Saenz, our identities are shaped by our surroundings. He describes a
student: He did not produce himself. He is a product. And the word product here
should not be confused with victim. Though we may all occupy different positions
in the material world, we are all products of the cumulative discourse around us
(Saenz 71). We are products of our environment, and the course each of us takes in
life is dependent on how we allow the discourse to shape us and our beliefs.
Choosing an identity is necessary, and many of us are forced to have more than
one identity. We have an identity that we choose, a private identity, and are forced
to also have a public identity. Our public identity is shaped by politics and our
cultural surroundings. According to Saenz, the West s obsession began with Plato
and Aristotle and was extended by (among others) Thomas Aquinas, Augustine,
Descartes, Locke, Hume, Heidegger and Marx (75). This obsession with political
identity continues into present day and the West s obsession has a great impact on
our public identity. Our public identity is not one that we may necessarily choose,
but rather is forced upon us by others. While some say we are all the same. We all
love, we all hate, we all dream, we all will die. We feel. We all feel (73). There is so
little truth behind such a statement. We are not all the same, not genetically,

Where Wizards Stay up Late
Where Wizards Stay up Late, the Origins of the Internet. Katie Hafner and Matthew
Lyon walk us through the beginnings of the Internet. The authors will talk about how
a computer engineering firm produced the first prototypes of the Arpanet, and how a
group of men made the Internet as we know it today. It tells the intriguing story of
how the technology for the Internet was devised. In many respects, it is very much a
behind the scenes kind of documentary.
When thinking about the Internet, one always appears to assume that the
development of computer technology has been driven by a few giants of the industry.
Indeed, we always assume that it is the big people that made it. And yet, the truth is
very different. The authors show us how many of the developments surrounding the
Internet were brought about with the support and often the leadership of the
government. Indeed, it was the government funding that made a lot of these realities
possible. Thus, this is basically a case study of what the development of networking
achieved.
In the book, we encounter the process of packet switching, which is a technique in
which a digital message is broken up into smaller packets that can be routed
separately through a network to their destination. This is how the Internet was
discovered.
The two authors follow the story from the conception of the idea of packet switching
in the early 1960s to the creation and development of the Internet. We see how one

The process of improvements in healthcare for the United States has been a
continuous battle with many obstacles and challenges. With that being said, our
health care system is now relying on the technology resources to develop and
maintain an efficient electronic health record. Therefore, one of the major benefits of
having an electronic health records would be the advance interoperability to
communicate with other systems (Pamela K. Oachs, 2016). Although, one of the
challenges with effective data exchange is due to the many different ways that
terminology is used in the healthcare systems (Pamela K. Oachs, 2016). Under those
circumstances, I am going to describe three different clinical terminology systems

Pocahontas would be brought back into the picture after the English kidnapped her.
She converted to Christianity and married John Rolfe, bringing peace between the
two sides. Pocahontas would then be brought to England as an example of a Savage
being turn to Christianity. After she dies, the peace between the Natives and the
settlers slowly diminishes. In March 22, 1622, the Natives would attack the English,
killing around 400 settlers. This attack backfires on the Native since the English
would attack back more drastically. To end the book, Price talks about John Smiths
life after Jamestown and his opinion on the settlement. The story also addresses the
beginning of Slaves entry in America, which would be an important part in the
history of America. This book overall informs us of early America history.
This novel gives a vivid glimpse of life in early Jamestown. Through this book, we get
the perspectives of not only people living in that time period but of actual settlers in
Jamestown. Many of John Smith s work is incorporated in this novel as well.
Throughout this novel, we begin to question, how did a settlement that consisted
majority of gentlemen become the first English permanent settlement? Through
seventeenth century English documents and first hand reports, Price answers the
question by showing the importance of John Smith and Pocahontas.
David A. Price s argument in this novel is that John Smith and Pocahontas were the
key factors in

34. An Effective Image File Storage Technique Using Data De...
ABSTRACT
Recent years have seen a rapid growth in the number of virtual machines and virtual
machine images that are managed to support infrastructure as a service (IaaS). For
example, Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) has 6,521 public virtual machine
images. This creates several challenges in management of image files in a cloud
computing environment.
In particular, a large amount of duplicate data that exists in image files consumes
significant storage space. To address this problem, we propose an effective image
file storage technique using data de duplication with a modified fixed size block
scheme. When a user requests to store an image file, this technique first calculates the
fingerprint for the image file, and then compares the fingerprint with the fingerprints
in a fingerprint library. If the fingerprint of the image is already in the library, a
pointer to the existing fingerprint is used to store this image. Otherwise this image
will be processed using the fixed size block image segmentation method.
The experiments show that this technique can significantly reduce the transmission
time of image files that have already existed in storage. Also the deletion rate for
image groups which have the same version of operating systems but different
versions of software applications is up about 58%.

In the final two chapters of Blues Chicago, the author focuses on the significance of
place branding and ethnic and cultural tourism as it relates to the commodification of
Chicago blues and its accompanying subculture. The author explains how the city
government, local boosters and cultural authorities are capitalizing on the global
allure of the bluesas a catalyst to stimulate economic growth. However, he neglects to
produce a closer analysis of the cultural voyeurs seeking the Chicago blues
experience and how the ways in which they travel and their geographic imaginary
shape how they engage with and commodify the culture.
More specifically, tourists and travelers commodify blues culture through the ways in
which they partake in and consume it. For example, tourists typically participate
indirectly by interacting in touristy areas, usually in the downtown zones, where they
are most likely to encounter other tourists seeking out the same experiences. In
contrast, travelers will directly intermingle with the locals and ... Show more content

experience. On the other hand, the tourist acts as an observer, pursuing the must see

They are not allowed to cross the center line into their offensive end. One player
serves as the goalkeeper and can stop the puck using their hands, feet, body, and
stick. Goalkeepers are not allowed to leave their area or hold on to the puck for
more than three seconds. These violations result in the opposing team gaining
possession of the puck at the center line. The game is started with a faceoff
between the centers taken at the center circle. Faceoffs restart the game after a
goal or at the beginning of a period. The center cannot score on a face off unless it
first touches an offensive player. Roughing violations result in two minutes in the

opponent with a stick when there is no chance of hitting the puck, contacting an
opponent with the stick above the waist, contact with the goalkeeper while in the

If you ve ever seen the movie Mary Poppins you are probably well aware of the
Chim Chim Cher ee scene with the dirty and unkept men that are covered in black
soot. They dance around and sing merely, but there is a harsher reality to the act of
chimney sweeping. Since chimneys are very narrow, children were often sold, by
their parents, to chimneyowners. They lived, they breathed, they slept, and they
played in the treacherous soot. Despite the harsh conditions in which they lived, the
children s imagination kept them going through the deadly job. In his poem The

Hamlet s thoughts and feelings through him being overwhelmed as his father s ghost

prominent throughout the time. Hamlet wants to make sure that what he has heard is
acted upon and that he stays true to his father s word. I think Shakespeare wanted to

42. Summary Of The Mother And Woman Hollering Creek
Julia Alverez s The Mother and Sandra Cisneros s Woman Hollering Creek are
fictional short stories that explore various hardships of adult life and immigration.
The stories have their individual differences, but in the end they both argue that while
trauma can crack people s foundations, with the strength of will and love, people can
endure. In The Mother, the narrator and her familyhave fled their home country, the
Dominican Republic, because of the country s dictatorship. The narrator, Laura,
describes those years as a series of disappearing friends, sleepless nights, house
arrest and only after a narrow escape did they escape from that world to America
(2758). Their new worry is that immigration will send them back to that traumatic
life. The last bit of action in the short storyis Laura s meeting with the social worker,
Sally O Brien. The main setting is America, and vignettes of Laura s memories from
her life in the Dominican Republic are distant memories. In Woman Hollering Creek,
the focus is on CleГіfilas s wedding and marriage the stage of her trauma. Unlike The
Mother, Woman Hollering Escape shows the fear within the trauma and not what
came after escape. CleГіfilas describes the new normal for the telenovelas she loved
as a girl the same way she views her own life: with no happy ending in sight (2777).
The two short stories also differ in the types of threats and how the protagonists dealt
with them. Laura describes what the Dominican Republic
