ABSTRACTIn the present study, we investigate laterality effects on motor learning
based on motor imagery workout in childhood. Four children groups that were
mentally and physically right hand performed reaching movement via upper and non
upper hand with speed and accuracy as possible. Before and after training session the
movement time has recorded and analyzed. Results showed that mental and physical
practices through similar learning processes (similar exponentially learning curves),
have positive effect on both hand performance. But in comparison with mental
imagery, motion time in post test session became significant for both hands after
physical practice. More importantly, in comparison with motor imagery with non
upper hand, mental imagery with upper hand leads to wider progress in motor speed.
This kind of advances did not show up in control group. Findings of this study show

Photography as a form of art is a controversial topic for numerous reasons. There are
lot of different warring opinions when it comes to the legitimacy of photography as
an art form. Photography is a very delicate matter considering that photography
breaks a lot of the normal rules of aesthetics and is such an easy medium to create
through, which can be both good and bad.

no longer one original that can only be owned by a wealthy collector or museum.

Growing up we always have been compelled to question. Why is the sky blue?
Why does the earth spin? What is the point of life? In fact, it could be a possibility
that even a majority of the words we expel from our mouths as a kid is why? . Yet,
out of the thousands of questions that have ever entered our brain, a rare one to
ponder is: how does one view art? One may say that art is subjective, that viewers
take away what they want from it. However, another may say another completely
different opinion; for instance, John Berger, a famous art critic, believed art could
only be viewed in the context of its own history, otherwise the painting would
become mystified (Berger 144). In a way, Berger expects everyone to mystify the
art work they view unless they truly see in the specific way he believes is right.
Keeping this in mind, I attempted to view art differently than I ever have before,
with a clear mind, questions to engage in conversation with the artwork, and a
yearning for the history of it s past at the ninth annual Art Prize.
When I walked into the Art Prize exhibition, I tried to view art the way Berger
would want me to, clear minded and unaware of the distractions the setting
presented. I did a walk through of all the artwork, but, I kept on getting pulled back
to this one piece called Il Ventriloquo, by Aron Demetz (Demetz). It was a statue of
a presumably caucasian man from his torso up, in a pale blue, long sleeve t shirt,
with short brown hair, holding his right arm up; which turned into a puppet, as if
he had his hand inside of the puppet. The puppet was a little boy and his face was
turned toward the man, his eyes holding man s gaze. At first I had no idea how to
approach it, I didn t know how to invite it into conversation, and even if I did, how
would I know I was asking the right kind of questions? Pushing those doubts aside, I
decided to jump right in and start with reading the exhibit label next to the art.
Unfortunately it did not help much, it mostly talked about the artist s background and
how he came to be a sculpture.
I studied the sculpture for a while, the way the arm flowed directly into the puppet,

I am rummaging through a cardboard box full of pictures, looking for the perfect
one to put in one of those sentimental Mother and Daughter word frames from
Hallmark. Finally, a photo falls from the box, and I pick it up, knowing I have found
what I am looking for.
It is a picture taken from spring of the year I was four. My mother is sitting on the
couch in our living room and I am standing in front of her. The fabric of our couch is
a beige and dark brown flowered print. The wall behind the sofa is covered with

Mom s hand is resting on my right arm, as if she is holding me in the picture s
frame. The rest of her features seem to blend into the drab background, but her right

My mother hasn t changed since the picture was taken almost sixteen years ago.

constant. She still stands behind me when we go to take a family photograph. She
never sees it as trying to hide herself from the critical eye of the camera, but insists
that I step out in front because I am the smaller one, the thinner one, the prettier one.
