Martin Luther King I Have A Dream Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Martin Luther King's 'I Have a Dream'" is a task that involves
both intellectual and emotional engagement. It requires a deep understanding of the historical
context, a thorough analysis of King's iconic speech, and the ability to convey the profound
impact it had on the civil rights movement.
To start, one must delve into the complexities of racial segregation and discrimination during the
1960s, understanding the challenges faced by African Americans and the urgent need for
change. The essay must then navigate through the nuances of King's speech, dissecting the
rhetorical devices, metaphors, and the powerful imagery employed to articulate his vision for a
more just and equal society.
Expressing the emotional and cultural significance of the "I Have a Dream" speech adds another
layer of complexity. The writer needs to capture not only the eloquence of King's words but also
the hope and determination infused in them. It involves connecting with the reader on a personal
and empathetic level, making them feel the urgency of the message and the enduring impact it
had on the fight against racial injustice.
Furthermore, presenting a fresh perspective or insight into the speech requires creativity and
critical thinking. Avoiding clichГ©s and offering a unique angle to the analysis can make the
essay stand out. Additionally, striking a balance between being informative and engaging is
crucial to maintain the reader's interest throughout.
In conclusion, composing an essay on Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" is a challenging
yet rewarding endeavor. It demands a blend of historical knowledge, analytical skills, emotional
intelligence, and creativity. Through meticulous research and thoughtful reflection, the writer can
produce a compelling piece that honors the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. and the enduring
relevance of his dream.

Comparing Zeus And Prometheus In Pandora s Box
In Pandora s Box, there are two human brothers who go by the names of Epimetheus
and Prometheus. Both of the brothers tended to upset the gods and had angered one
of the gods in particular, Zeus. Even before Epimetheus and Prometheus, humans had
already upset Zeus so he took away man s ability to make or produce fire. Prometheus
was quite intelligent, and he knew that a blacksmith named Hephaestos had a forge
on the Isle of Lemnos with a fire burning in it. Prometheus thought it was a good idea
to steal fire from the blacksmith. This angered Zeuseven more so he came up with a
plan to punish humans for their lack of respect.
With the help of Hephaestos, he created a woman from clay. Zeus brought her to life
and made her both beautiful and charming. Zeus named her Pandora and gave her to
Epimetheus as a gift. Even though Prometheus warned him not to accept any gifts
from the gods, he did anyways. He was enchanted by Pandora s charming
appearance and didn t believe she could possibly cause any harm, so Epimetheus
married her. Zeus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The myth demonstrated how curiosity can bring big troubles, but it can also bring
hope. There is a well known saying that curiosity killed the cat. However, this is
only the first part of the phrase. The second part is but satisfaction brought it back.
In the myth, it explained how Pandora s curiosity brought misery and destruction
into the world after she had opened the box. When she reopened it after hearing the
voice from within the box, hope was released and healed the wounds caused by the
sting of those evil creatures. This demonstrates that while curiosity may bring
misery, sadness, poverty, and disease, it may also bring wisdom, knowledge, and
hope in life. Without curiosity people wouldn t take risks or try new things. Curiosity
led settlers to the United States, and while some perished from the journey others
thrived and brought hope of a new
The Perils Of Empathy
During my sophomore year of high school, I broke my leg playing football. I had
called my coach on the way home from the doctor s office to tell him. After talking
to a few of my friends on the team, I received a flood of texts from the rest of my
teammates. One of the seniors, Mike, talked to me about he broke his leg his
freshman year. He supported me through telling his story, and that despite his injury
he was still able to earn a scholarship from the University of Pittsburgh. While it
couldn t have been difficult for him to put himself in my shoes, his encouragement
was meaningful to me. I only knew him for a year, and he took time out of his

Bloom constantly portrays empathy as feeling exactly as another person. Bloom
essentially frames a one sided debate on the merits of empathy by defining it to its
most extreme level. While Matthieu Ricard, a Buddhist monk, may find that
empathy very quickly became intolerable, most people do not exhibit this level of
emotional distress while experiencing empathy. By illustrating the so called perils
of empathy through a level 6 psychotherapist, and a Buddhist monk, he
misconstrues the meaning of empathy. Everyday or normal empathy is much
closer to what Bloom defines as compassion or cognitive empathy. Being able to
understand how someone else feels and then act on it is what most people mean
when they talk about empathy. It s ridiculously obvious that I wouldn t want my
doctor, friends, teammates or family to feel as if they were going through the both
the physical pain of breaking a bone, or how I felt being stuck on the sidelines
while my best friends played football and basketball without me. I needed those
closest to me to understand how I felt, and reassure me that I d make a full
recovery. Instead, their ability to imagine what it was like for me to have to be on
and off of crutches for almost seven months, not be able to play football and
basketball, and have to go through a long rehabilitation process was what allowed
them to support
Obamacare The Affordable Care Act
In March 2013, President Barack Obama signed a federal statue into law that
would change the way Americans receive healthcare. The Patient Protection and
Affordable Care Act, better known as the Affordable Care Act, and sometimes
called Obamacare is the most significant revision of the U.S. healthcare system
since the passage of Medicare and Medicaid back in 1965. The main function of
the Affordable Care Act is to improve hospitals and physicians practices financially,
technologically, and clinically so the health outcomes and lower costs. Americans
are split, as they are with most political issues, on whether or not the act is a viable
solution to our healthcare problem. Even though it has had its problems such as a
faulty website and being thought of as too complicated and expensive for the
American government to take on, I believe the Affordable Care Act is a good
solution for the healthcare problems in our country. Before the Affordable
Healthcare Act, there were a few healthcare reform bills proposed and passed by
Congress and earlier presidents. President Bill Clintonproposed a healthcare reform
bill that would make employers responsible for providing their employees with
health insurance. The Republicans did not agree with that plan and suggested an
alternative that would require individuals to buy insurance. The Clinton bill ended up
failing because of negative advertising and concerns that it was way too complex
(Roy). He instead passed the State Children s

Mongol Empire Dbq
During the Middle Ages, Europe and Asia were on completely different levels when it
came to success and advancement. Europe was an unproductive, uneducated
continent that made little advancement, while Asia was booming with productivity
and triumph. One very prosperous time in Post Classical Asia was the Mongol
Empire under the rule of Genghis Khan. Emperor Genghis Khan was able to unite
various scattered Mongolian clans and turn them into a strong empire with an
amazing military. Khan created the largest empire in history, stretching from the
Caspian Sea all the way to Beijing. He even began the golden age of the
Mongolians, known as the Pax Mongolica. Genghis Khan s great success as a ruler

Genghis Khan was so ruthless that he would sometimes kill all adult males to remove
potential rivals and breakdown old loyalties to other clans or tribes. When conquering
China, the Mongols burned cites to the ground and killed all of their inhabitants. The
ruthless nature of Genghis Khan was well known throughout Asia and Europe;
therefore, many so greatly feared the Mongols that they surrendered without a single
battle (Exploring the Middle Ages 305 306). The Mongols were known to attack
one day, and have the entire city slaughtered the next. When the Mongols fought
against the Khwarezm Empire, and they didn t keep their word, Genghis Khan
slaughtered city after city of theirs . He was never afraid to make an enemy; he
would usually annihilate them before they could hurt his empire. This brutal image
of the Mongols served as propaganda to create fear in other empires and civilizations
across Eurasia( Genghis Khan History Channel). Though the brutality sounds a bit
harsh, it greatly helped the Mongols by distilling fear of them in other societies, and
thus, they became more

H.G. Wells s Presentation of Future in The Time Machine
When Wells was writing The Time Machine in 1895 England was a country where
society consisted of several classes. These were mainly the middle classes, these
were the people who ran factories and had a lot of wealth. The other class was
working class, the people who worked in factories and mines. Also there were a
huge number of factories and mines. Consequently there was a great deal of air
pollution due to the factories. The smog from the factories pollution was common in
winter and big cities like London and Manchester had smog clouds in winter. Smog
clouds were so thick you could barely see twenty yards in front of yourself.

There was no disturbances, no shadow casting buildings as everyone lived either in
small communes or underground. The climate was very warm in 802,701, Wells
knew it would be warmer but I don t think he knew it would be because of too much
carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Even though there were very few buildings in
802,701 the architecture on the buildings was amazing. One architectural buildings

In 802,701 one group were living in a commune, the Eloi. But in mysterious state of
despair the other group, the Morlocks, live in a huge underground world. Wells
expressed the theory of evolution by making the Eloi, distant descendants of the
wealthy but because they didn t use their brains or muscles, they were very weak
and had lost most signs of human intelligence. However the Morlocks descended
from the labourers and the working class. Both species had adapted to their
environment. The Eloi were small and very weak, as they didn t work at all, they
also had very short attention spans, as they didn t pay attention to things for very
long. The Eloi get tired easily because they never need to walk any further than 250
500 yards.
However the Morlocks had big eyes that drew light in, this was because they lived in

Laura Koller s Spring Wedding
Spring Wedding
In my senior project, Laura Koller s wedding meant so much for me to be able to
be a part of putting my creativity into her wedding. I want Laura to have the best
wedding with the most amazing flowers she choose and to not worry about having
the flowers not being the way she wants them to be. When Laura s wedding caught
my attention, I felt honor to be able to be part in the next step in someone s lifetime.
In this project, I ll talk about the history of weddings, the flowers that were used, the
creation and the packing up.
The flowers or herbs were used in historical weddings since the beginning of time
to show a way of love and well wishes to everyone. The first use of wedding flowers
were the ancient Greeks. The flowers or plants were used to make a crown for the
bride to wear and was a gift of nature. The bridesmaids would have floral
decorations which were garlands, bridal bouquets and boutonnieres. Mostly the
bridesmaids were to make a poesies, to make, for each guest to wear as a symbol of
saying thanks. Over time, the flowers and their meanings stayed the same but the
herbs lost their place in modern North American weddings. Some of the cultures and
religions have intertwine herbs with flowers to celebrate the marriage with a gift of
nature. Leading up to and during the Middle Ages, weddings were considered as a
family and community affairs. The only main thing about a wedding was for both
partners to state a consent to take one of them as a spouse.
Role of Women in Macbeth by William Shakespeare Essay
Role of Women in Macbeth
Macbeth, by the playwrite William Shakespeare, is one of his most amazing
tragdies and additionally one of his most well known plays. The play has picked up
infamy (being great known for some awful quality or deed.) for the mischances that
occurred all around its numerous stagings to such an extent that it is otherwise called
the Scottish play to keep from needing to say its name. The spooky Lore surrounding
the showing of the play is fitting given the events that take place throughout the plot.

The witches make few appearances, so the subject of evil corresponding with women
is continued all around the play with the part of Lady Macbeth. As the plot unfolds,
Lady Macbeth turns into Macbeth s instrument of darkness on the grounds that she is
his main push behind the death of Duncan and the plan to cover it up. She utilizes her
own particular sort of control to get Macbeth to commit evil much the same as the
control used by the witches with their prediction that sounds alluring, however
underneath the deepest consequence is stowed away.
Lady Macbeth goes about as a person of evil motives and actions throughout the
play. She is included strongly in Macbeth s issues to verify that he does what is
important for him to become. At the point when figuring out that Duncan had
planned to visit their castle, Lady Macbeth perceives this as a prime open door for
Macbeth to take on the position of King: Only look up clear; To alter favour ever is
to fear. Leave all the rest to me (I.V.69 71). Without Lady Macbeth s tirelessness in
seeing the prediction through it is likely that the killings and the resulting confusion
that takes after would never have happened. The three witches planted the thought
into Macbeth s brain and Lady Macbeth took that temptation and made it actuality.
Lady Macbeth is essential to the evil set in motion by the witches in light of the fact
that she completes what the witches began. Lady Macbeth assumes the responsibility
Essay On Age Related Macular Degeneration
The human eye is a remarkable feature that receives light, allowing a viewed object
to be transmitted as messages to the brain so that we understand what we see. It can
detect something as small as a candle flame from up to 15 miles away (under
optimum conditions) as well as focus on fine details. A pity, then, when this window
to the soul is allowed to degenerate.
Not all eye diseases are caused by negligence but a large percentage is. Strain, an
unbalanced diet, a poor lifestyle, lack of awareness and bad habits can contribute to
diminishing the wonders our eyes offer.

It s usually resolved through surgery which can restore a large percentage of vision
unlike with glaucoma.
AMD: Age related macular degeneration is primarily caused by old age. Where
glaucoma affects the peripheral vision, AMD targets the central vision. As such,
blindness is rarely caused although vision impairment is naturally present and may
progress without treatment.
Treatment typically involves laser surgery, implanting a telescopic lens and increasing
vitamin intake.
AMD presents itself in one of two forms dry and wet. Dry AMD sees the macula (an
area near the retina) thinning to affect central vision. It s the more common form and
progresses slowly. In wet AMD, bloodvessels behind the retina begin to grow under
the macula to lead to leakage of blood and fluid as well as scarring which further
diminishes central vision.
Diabetic retinopathy: A common complication in diabetic patients, diabetic
retinopathy occurs due to damage to the retinal blood vessels. Proper diabetes
management through control of blood sugar, blood pressure and other necessary
symptoms can see the condition brought to a halt and even reversed to an extent.

The Bride Price By Bunchi Emecheta
The Bride Price is a novel written by Nigerian writer Bunchi Emecheta, which
addresses the problems of women in post colonial Nigeria. Published in 1976, it
illustrates the life of the Odia family and the hardships that they go through. Bunchi
Emecheta is successful in portraying the difficulties that women faced in that time
and place. The protagonist, Aku nna Odia, is an unmarried teenage girl who is
kidnapped by Okoboshi Obidi s familyand forced to marry him. Later in the novel,
she is rescued by Chike, a man that she falls in love with and marries. She is not
supposed to be with Chike because it is shameful to her family because he is a
descendent of slaves. Aku Nna later dies in childbirth and Chike is left with his
baby, Joy. One of her last statements is that only in death will she win her freedom.
Although this novel is a fictional story, Emecheta weaves in semi autobiographical
elements and situations. She illustrates the theme of male dominance and women
compliance to men. The men in Nigerian societies are expected to be strong and
powerful, while the women are expected to be the opposite. The men act as the
head of the family as they are the ones who make all the money and decisions.
Women on the other hand were demanded to give birth to healthy males and do
household work. In the novel, Ezekiel Odia, the father of the Odia family, works a
full time job at the Loco Yard and when he dies his family is left to fend for
themselves. In this culture, it is
Analysis Of The Babylonian Code Of Hammurabi
In the Babylonian code of Hammurabi, We learn that certain laws applied to
everyone. However, some laws where bias. There were certain laws which favored
the gentlemen, but where unfair to the common people. For instance, in an article
from Life Science by Owen Jarus, he says if a member of the Elite blinded a
commoner or broke the commoner s bone, that elite person had to pay one pound of
silver as a penalty. This shows that the elite only had to pay one pound of silver
which was not a harsh punishment. On the other hand, if a person struck someone
who was of a higher social status, then that person can expect severe punishment even
death (Jarus). The two laws showed that persons from a higher status were given a

Information Is Based On Age And Gender
Information/Measurement My information is based on Age and Gender. Most of my
mathematical data will use (years) as its units. However for standard deviation and
the Chi Squared test the expected values will be reduced to 3 significant figures. As
for the P values and the Critical values will be given in exact numbers. Mathematical
Process As described in my introduction, I have found the mean, median, mode, and
range of both genders. I got this data table from (http://www.infoplease.com/ipa

table is displaying the median age at first marriage between the years of 1890 2010.
The median of both genders were found in the 14th spot in the data table. The mode
was observed in both genders. Also observed was that the most occurring ages for
both male and female happened in the same 10 year time span. The process of

I believe I`m a very influential person to be around. So I put in a lot of time and
dedication to help others in the community or my school. What made me want to
get involved was my Freshmen year of High School, I was involved in AVID and
SOAR but my mentors didn t talk to me, no one was really there too show me what
to do or how to do it. So, I figured I would change that and be a positive influence in
someone else s life. Recently I have helped the local Middle Schoolwith their Step

Marvel Film Captain Americ The Winter Soldier
Imagine a world where superheroes were real. Marvel has been winding tales much
like these for years, inspiring both the young and the old, since 1939. They created
their own storyline combining current topics and events and adding a dash of
somewhat mystical pizzazz that is not only gripping but intriguing. In their world you
follow superheroes through their lives, learning their stories and not only
understanding them on the level of a super but on a personal level.
There are iconic superhero figures that most would recognize like Captain America
and Iron Man. These two were partners at one time, fighting side by side in the
league known as the Avengerswho fought and saved New York from an alien

Garcia Girls Lost Their Accent Chapter Summary
How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents is the story about four sisters from the
Dominican Republic and how they became American as well as how they tried to
stay Dominican. Through their fights with their father, full of machismo, and their
relationships with American men and with each other, the four sisters reveal four
different experiences in Americanization and the ways that the clung to their native
culture, even decades after they first arrived in the United States. How the Garcia
Girls Lost Their Accents is not a story that it told in chronological order, as it opens
with Yolanda returning to the Dominican Republic for the first time in five years,
despite ending with Yolanda while she was little and still living in the Dominican...

She detested the Latino machismo and openly embraced her sexuality, something
traditionally looked down upon in her Dominican culture, and she had no problem
arguing with her father while he still clung to his culture. However, Sofia never
seemed to mind the aesthetic roots of her culture, fully embracing the style when
she was exiled to the Dominican Republic or as their mother said, she was
beautifully acclimated to life on the Island (p. 117) and her sisters forced her
independent spirit back, when she fell for her illegitimate cousin, a man
overflowing with machismo. But once out, she became fiercely independent and
even feminist. In fact, when her father doted on her son but not her daughter, she
found that his macho babytalk [sic] brought back Sofia s old antagonism towards
her father (p. 27) because Sofia was the one with non stop boyfriends (p. 28), and
their bickering caused her father and her to have a falling out. Nothing fixed that
until she named her son Carlos, after her father a way that she connected her old,
Dominican roots to her new, American identity. For Sofia, becoming American was
never a big issue, and she didn t have as much culture or even memories of her
homeland to hang onto, which was why she often clashed with her father because her
American ideals made it difficult for her to see from her parents
Some Ways the Enviornment Affects Human Health Essay
Some Ways That The Environment Affects Human Health?
Air Pollution
Air pollution is one obvious environmental health threat in OECD countries,
contributing to a number of illnesses, such as asthma and in some cases leading to
premature death. Of particular concern is the fact that children are more vulnerable to
air pollution than adults, and increased rates of infant mortality have been recorded in
highly polluted areas.
Concerns about the impact of air pollution on health and the economy have resulted in
measures to mitigate emissions of the most harmful pollutants, such as particle
pollution (acids, organic chemicals, metals, and soil or dust particles) and ozone,
which affects the respiratory system. Despite national

Molds
Molds are fungi that can be found both indoors and outdoors. No one knows how
many species of fungi exist but estimates range from tens of thousands to perhaps
three hundred thousand or more. Molds grow best in warm, damp, and humid
conditions, and spread and reproduce by making spores. Mold spores can survive
harsh environmental conditions, such as dry conditions, that do not support normal
mold growth. Some people are sensitive to molds. For these people, exposure to
molds can cause symptoms such as nasal stuffiness, eye irritation, wheezing, or skin
irritation. Some people, such as those with serious allergies to molds, may have
more severe reactions. Severe reactions may occur among workers exposed to large
amounts of molds in occupational settings, such as farmers working around moldy
hay. Severe reactions may include fever and shortness of breath. Some people with
chronic lung illnesses, such as obstructive lung disease, may develop

The Knight Is Darkest Just Before The Dawn
When I reached the conclusion of Batman: Arkham Knight after 12 hours of solid
pacing, I literally stood behind my chair like a five year old cheering for his favorite
superhero, biting my nails as I could no longer wait to see how it would all end. Not
only does the finale of Batman: Arkham Knight grant the legendary Arkham series
the ending it deserves, but it also introduces so many new gameplay mechanics that it
manages to outdo the previous installments in the series, thus becoming the very best
comic book game in existence. If I am to be completely honest here, I have to say that
Batman: Arkham Knight is possibly one of the best video games I ever got to play,
period.

In these separate side missions, you will mostly be spending your time beating up
thugs while chasing villains like Firefly, Two Face and Penguin, which doesn t
always work in the game s favor. Most side missions end with you confronting the
villain behind it all, and instead of it going down with a good old fashioned boss
fight, villains are easily knocked out by performing a Takedown of sorts (e.g.
Stealth Takedown, Vehicle Takedown and Dual Takedown). This is probably my
biggest complaint with Batman: Arkham Knight, because I for one truly enjoyed the
recurrent boss fight in previous Arkham games. In any case, almost all of these side

always choose to chase another villain and come back to the initial mission later

What I Learned in the Course of Spiritual Life and Growth
I have learned to live my life through trial and error; I believe mistakes should be
accepted without regret. I didn t always think in this manner, I originally was a
perfectionist. I strived to be the best at everything I did and it stunted my growth
in life for quite some time. After I understood the value of my life, I realized the
key was to live genuinely; to live for a purpose that was not only important to
myself, but to others as well. I was not taught morality, I had to learn it the hard
way. The course, Spiritual Life and Growth, has taught me morality to some
extent. On the first week of attending Spiritual Life and Growth, I decided to take a
break from my commission based job for a few years; I understood the
consequences if I did not sell I did not earn. I began to cleanse myself, by
answering the questions, Who am I? What do I love? I was able to truly tap into
myself: spiritually, and I understood I was forced to find a new career path,
because of the love I had for myself, and let go of my prior job. My career, of the
past ten years, has been extremely stressful, and is likely responsible for my high
blood pressure condition presently. I realized, I would lose business, and my current
competitors would likely collect commission checks on business I was supposed to
earn. However, I made my schooling a priority, and I accepted Autumn with open
arms. In Let Your Life Speak: Listening For The Voice Of Vocation , Parker J. Palmer

A Tourist Guide of Vienna
A Tourist Guide of Vienna
Vienna is the capital and biggest city of Austria. It is among the nine states of
Austria. Vienna is Austria s essential city, with approximately 1.757 million
population, and its social, monetary, and political focus. Until the start of the 20th
century, it was the biggest city of German spoken people in the world. Separated
from being viewed as the City of Music as a result of its musical legacy, Viennais
likewise said to be The City of Dreams since it was home to the world s first
psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud.
History
Close ties with other Celtic group of people proceeded through the ages. The Irish
minister Saint Colman is covered in Melk Abbey and Saint Fergil was Bishop of
Salzburg for forty years, and Irish Benedictines established twelfth century devout
settlements. Confirmation of these ties is still apparent in Vienna s extraordinary
Schottenstift religious community. It was once the home of numerous Irish
ministers. In the sixteenth and seventeenth hundreds of years, the Ottoman armed
forces were halted twice outside Vienna. A maladie plague attacked Vienna in 1679,
murdering about a third of its populace.

Genocide In South Africa
While the ecumenical church was focused on preventing a post World War
apocalypse, they were neglecting a cultural genocide in South Africa. From 1948
through 1994, a legal division of white and blacks took place. Apartheid, literally
meaning a state of being apart , was racial segregation instituted by the National Party
that kept a minority white population in power over the predominant black
indigenous population.
This all originated during the Transatlantic Slave Trade during the seventeenth and
eighteenth centuries. The West Indies Company, a subsidiary of the Netherlands (the
Dutch Reformed Church being the State Church) had a colony in South Africa and

One of the church leaders who spearheaded the campaign to end the apartheid was
Bishop Desmond Tutu. Bishop Tutu called for the united church to be in solidarity
with the voiceless in South Africa. If the blacks voice was taken from them, the
church would become their voice. But this voice would not just demand peace, it
would enact it. Desmond Tutu called upon the WCC to form an ecumenical voice
within South Africa. The South African Council of Churches (SACC) was formed
and became the voice of popular resistance that challenged the legitimacy of the
apartheid state. The Kairos Document, a critique of state theology, pronounced in
1985 that the day of judgement had come for apartheid and that Christians must quite
simply participate in the struggle for liberation . The WCC assisted in Bishop Tutu in
countless protest marches and global awareness. Desmond Tutu s approach to ending
the apartheid revolved around excluding the evil before embracing reconciliation. The

The Use of Vampire Characters in Novels
The Gothic novel is not just an ordinary story of vampirism, it is rather a story
about a very particular kind of myth that is very old, that goes back even before the
ancient Greeks. In classical mythology there have been always stories about exotic
lands inhabited by exotic creatures, there have been always a fascination with
constructing images of monsters male and female. In classical mythology there have
been always stories about the encounter between the mortal and the immortal,
between the ordinary and the exotic. There have been always an attraction to images
of monsters, designed to shock and horrify. In short various images of monstrosity are
found in classical mythology. One of the most famous , the Sirens. Barbara Creed in
her article The Monstrous Feminine: Stereotyping against the the Grain writes in
describing female monstrosity: The Sirens were deadly to the male sex. Described as
enormous birds with the heads of women, the sirens were able to sing beautiful
haunting songs which they used to lure unwary sailors to shore, where submerged
reefs tore apart their ships. These fatal creatures then devoured their prey...Like the
sirens, female vampires have often been represented as beautiful, alluring creatures
that seduce their victims before sucking their lifeblood from their veins (Creed). This
analogy Barbara Creed makes between the sirens as mythological monsters and the
vampire figure of the nineteenth century enables us understand the ongoing attraction

As a football fan, like you I hold the magnificent game close to my heart. I have
been a loyal supporter of my local team since I was a young child. I even remember
now the first game I witnessed and the amazing feelings that rushed through my

In contrast to this, where video refereeing is already used such as Rugby, we
notice barely any difference between now and before it was introduced into the
sport. This is because decisions can be replayed a split second after an incident has
taken place, to be reviewed by a panel of officials who can make an almost instant
decision. I myself do not think this would waste time at all because, think about it,
when a referee makes a decision on the pitch which is felt unjust to a side of
players, it is going to be highly disputed leading to arguments between players and
officials which in turn leads to cards being shown as we ve seen so many times
before. Due to this, a huge advantage of video replays would be that the referee only
has to enforce a decision on the pitch, meaning that any of the players on the field
have no one to dispute a decision because it will be accurate in it s decision by
officials watching a big screen
Has your team ever had an unjust decision against them that could cause huge
consequences to their survival? I think the answer to that is yes, like any club in
any league. We ve all had unfair decisions made against us that could lead to all
kinds of disasters such as relegation or losing the title. This can t go on much longer

Major Phases Of A Company Growth
9. The three major phases of a company growth are the entrepreneurial phase, the
managerial phase and the consolidation phase. First, in the entrepreneurial phase a
company focuses on its core activities and on which market paths it should follow.
Moreover, in terms of their facility, its policy can be expected to emphasize on its
functional needs rather than expending resources on symbolic features. Additionally,
there might be some uncertainty regarding the company future and a lack of access
to professional knowledge of space management, which may cause overcrowding and
badly chosen timing of relocation.
Second, during the managerial phase a company still focuses on its fundamental
activities. . However, now the company can now adopt workspace layout reflecting
hierarchical tendencies. In addition, new problem may occur requiring experts
because of special space requirements. Likewise, because of lack of management
focus on the distribution of the space, issues related to facilities and support services
are dealt irregularly.
And third, during the consolidation phase skills in facilities management are
available and use more constantly. Dependence on cross functional teams and
calculated experimentation with teleworking and other alternative work practices can
be expected to imply changes on the layout of the company. Also, companies should
consider to exploit the opportunities to introduce facility management procedures.

it was seen differently in the store that day. The explanation to this phenomena
would be The Mandela Effect. My interest in this topic came to me when I was
walking into an H.E.B, and I saw a Febreze bottle that caught my eye. The Febreze
bottle was spelled Febreze , and I have always remembered Febreeze . When I Got
home I went straight to my computer and searched up Febreze or Febreeze. The
first thing that popped up was the Mandela Effect, and ever since then I have been
hooked on this effect and its logic. As of right now, I have been looking and
searching for more and more theories of this effect for a good amount of time, and I
believe with my research and study I can show what The Mandela Effect is all about.

The Position of Islamic Lawin Malaysia
CHAPTER FOUR: THE POSITION OF ISLAMIC LAW IN MALAYSIA 4.1
Introduction It has been argued, that if colonisation had not been responsible for the
introduction and application of English law, Islamic law would have developed to
become the law of the land. Islamic law, coupled with the customary law of the
various races, indeed represent the indigenous sources or basic foundation upon
which the eventual growth of a legal system could have been founded.1 However, the
grant of the Charters of Justice 1826 to the Straits Settlements, and the eventual
application of English law both through the judicial process and through legislation
in the Malay States had effectively displaced Islamic law from its premier position.
The role which Islamic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the free woman had a husband, they will be buried till waist and will be stoned to
death. This law is in line with Islamic teaching. When Malacca was a Malay

Television In The 1960 s
Television in the 1960s brought Americans closer through the stories and tragedies
they experienced. As televisions became more mainstream and affordable, more
people invested in them. The time was right for the industry to flourish. Between
1959 and 1970, the percentage of households in the U.S. with at least one TV went
from 88% to 96% (Ganzel). More people buying TVs meant that the industry grew
and the technology could improve. As satellite technology developed, it became
inevitable for satellite televisionto develop. The biggest leap of 1960s television
technology wise, was satellite usage (Thompson). With TV signals that could reach
far, and a TV in almost every American home, people felt more connected to the
world around them. They... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
News programs in the 60s were a major selling point in buying a television. Part of
television s success is due to the news being so relevant and reliable. In the 50s and
60s, news on the television made very informative and relevant content (Ganzel).
Television in the 60s had many fandoms and communities for its popular shows,
such as Star Trek. When many people have similar interests or like the same thing,
they usually get along. When Star Trek first aired, it wasn t very popular.
However, it has since gained a cult following and remains a very active franchise to
today (Feinstein, 12) Television in the 1960s opened a door to a source of
information and entertainment like never before. One of reasons Americans are so
united today is because television in the 60s showed people what they had in
common. Television signals weaved in and out of America, sewing us together and
patching our
Pros And Cons Of Birth Control
traception
Contraception is used to prevent pregnancy. The use of condoms can prevent
pregnancy and protect against STDs. Other protective barriers, such as dental dams,
are recommended for oral sex and analingus. Some sexually transmitted infections,
such as genital warts and genital herpes can be spread through skin to skin contact,
not just penetrative sex. For those in committed relationships who seek only to
prevent pregnancy, there are many forms of birth control, and a healthcare provider
can discuss options and detail what is the ideal form of birth control. There is no
single universal method that works for everyone.
According to Michael McGee, MEd, a certified sexual health educator and adjunct
professor at Montclair State University in Montclair, New Jersey, sexual health is
intimately related to reproduction. Birth control choices to prevent pregnancy and the
steps couples need to take to have a healthy pregnancy are all aspects of sexual health.
Some factors a qualified physician will take into consideration when discussing
options are:
Patient s sexual activity
Previously used birth control methods
Existing medical conditions
Lifestyle and likelihood of taking a daily pill on schedule
Use of tobacco products
Existence of menstrual migraines
Menstrual flow
Personal and family history of blood clots
Existence or history of breast cancer
Family history of ovarian cancer
History of premenstrual syndrome
History of acne
Current medications

Analysis Of Patricia Hill Collins s Critical Race Theory
The contributions of female thinkers have generally been overlooked thought out the
years, even though they have an understanding of theory and society similar to their
male counterparts. There are many women who have made a major contribution to
the development of modern day sociology. Patricia Collins is a well known
sociology professor at the University of Maryland, College Park. Her work focuses
on several issues concerning issues with feminismand genderin the African American
community. She has discussed topics on socioeconomic status, which ties into the
new racism . The new racism basically is disenfranchising voters and driving politics
by economic influence, which is neither in the hands of Blacks, but falls in the hands

She was influenced by Du Bois s writings, including The Philadelphia Nergo, the
New York Times articles and the Atlanta Studies (Morris, pg.72). Ovington began
studying the lives of African Americans living in New York at the time, which lead
her research and findings to writing Half a Man: The Status of Negro in New York. In
this book Ovington concentrated on economic status of black New Yorkers, carefully
examining their employment opportunities and working conditions (Morris, pg.72).
Ovington viewed racial discrimination in the labor market as a major issue in New
York, while focusing her attention closely to the conditions of black womans
economic and labor experiences comparing them to white woman. Mary White
Ovington s study tended to be descriptive given its reliance of secondary data, but it
was nonetheless a major contribution to the understanding of a northern black
community during the first decade of the twentieth century (Morris, pg.73). The
research done by Ovington captured Du Bois s attention and became an important
addition to the Atlanta s school offerings in urban and economic sociology.
Another important female who help contribute to the development of modern day
sociology is Lucy Craft Laney, who has been described as one of the most important

The Psychodynamic Approach
I believe that the Psychodynamic approach to psychology is the best method for
discovering the basis of human behavior and personality traits. The Psychodynamic
approach focuses on the unconscious mind and what drives thoughts and behavior
based on the mind and personality. Sigmund Freud, The founding father of the
Psychodynamic approach, theorized that early relationships with parents shape an
individual s personality. King, L. A. (2014). The science of psychologyan appreciative
view. New York, NY: McGraw Hill Education. Pg 12. The psychodynamic approach
is the best method to describe and analyze human behavior; in my opinion, because
our early experiences and relationships are highly influential on how we act and
behave as an adults.
General Demand Function Of Desktop Computers
The general demand function represents the relationship between the demand of a
product or service and the following six factors: the price of the product or service,
the consumers income, price of related goods or services, the taste patterns of
consumers, expected price of the good in some future period and number of the
consumers in the market (Thomas Maurice, 2012, pp. 40). This general demand
function can be applied to all products and services to forecast the quantity that will
be demanded based on the current market trends. The remainder of this paper will
apply this general demand function to desktop computers and how the various factors
affect the product demand.
The first factor to analyze is the price of desktop computers. Like all goods and
services in the market, the price and the quantity demanded are inversely related as
described in the law of demand. If the price of desktop computers rises, the demand
will decrease. Similarly, if the price of desktop computers falls, the demand will
rise. Consumers often watch for prices to drop or sales to occur before making big
purchases to. Due to the inverse relationship between the demand and the price of the
computers, the slope parameter would have a negative sign. This negative sign
denotes that as one piece of the equation changes, the other will move in the opposite
direction.
The second factor of the general demand function is the consumers income. Desktop
computers are considered a normal good, or
Fashion History
Introduction What is fashion? Fashion is something we deal with everyday. Even
people who say they don t care what they wear choose clothes every morning that
say a lot about them and how they feel that day. One certain thing in the fashion
world is change. We are constantly being bombarded with new fashion ideas from
music, videos, books, and television. Movies also have a big impact on what people
wear. Ray Ban sold more sunglasses after the movie Men In Black. Sometimes a
trend is worldВwide. Back in the 1950 s, teenagers everywhere dressed like Elvis
Presley. Who dictates fashion? Musicians and other cultural icons have always
influenced what we re wearing, but so have political figures and royalty. Newspapers

In this period, sleeves were much wider, and capes, veils, chin straps, and head
coverings were often worn. The styles of the late 1960 s closely resemble the
Gothic Age with the exception of seams instead of laced and tied garments.
Renaissance By the High Renaissance period, the time of the Eli2abethan Age and
of Shakespeare, patterns were being experimented with and styles were changing.
The waist was finally accented by boned bodices, the hips flared out, necklines
dropped low, and sleeves were padded in sections all the the way down the arm.
The Spanish originated farthingale was created at this time. The farthingale was
thought to have been worn to hide pregnancies. Another garment that looked like a
sleeveless robe was worn over dresses and formed almost a hunchback appearance
because of farthingale width at the hips. Cavalier and Baroque The Cavaliers,
living in the 17th century, wore breeches, mid thigh length capes, and wide brimmed
hats. This look is closely associated with the Three Musketeers . Lace was also very
popular at this time. Men wore wide lace collars, lace cuffs, and lace boot cuffs.
Women also wore wide lace collars on dresses with softer looks to them than those of
the High Renaissance. Louis XIV The Cavalier styles were taken over by the
wardrobe of King Louis XIV of France. King Louis was said to have adored fashion
and was always superbly dressed. He
Effects Of Ethnocentrism
what extent does ethnocentrism impact Western societies views of minorities and the
actions of people of different ethnicities?
A certain moral imbecility marks all ethnocentric movements. I.F. Stone.
Ethnocentrism is a theme that clouds the progress of society as it comes to the grisly
conclusion that one ethnicity is inherently superior to all others. Stone was trying to
state that ethnocentrism breeds the evil that casts a dark shadow over humanity.
When viewing the cultural, historical, and ethical arguments; about ethnocentrism
and how it influences Western societies, one can see the detrimental effects it has on
minorities and on different ethnic regions.
What is ethnocentrism?
Ethnocentrism is a complex topic and many individuals ... Show more content on

One way to gain this empathy is to immerse oneself in the culture that exists in the
world around oneself. One can do this by actively seeking out cultural events, talking
to people of different cultures, and recognizing the limits between cultural
appropriation and cultural appreciation. However, due to the nature of ethnocentrism,
it is difficult to fully remove one s personal bias towards other cultures. Another
limitation toward eliminating ethnocentrism is the pervasiveness of anxiety. One
may feel anxiety in having a different culture and fear that different
Famine, Affluence And Morality By Peter Singer
Famine, Affluence, and Morality is a well known article written by Peter Singer that
was published in Philosophy and Public Affairs in 1972. Peter Singer is an Australian
utilitarian philosopher, and in Famine, Affluence, and Morality he argues that more
fortunate people should be required to help those in need or at least give significantly
more than what is currently being given. The essay focuses on the Great Bengal
Faminethat occurred in 1971, Singer mentions how reluctant the western world was
to aid those in need and he blames it on the fact that it was a crisis that was
happening far away from the western world. One of Singer s main points is, If it is
in our power to prevent something very bad from happening, without thereby

Short Story On April Fools Day
It was a rainy April 1st when Jess was born. The irony of her being born on April
Fools Day was tremendous. Why? Well, because everyone thought she was just a
big old joke. Ever since she was young her parents never seemed to bother to care
about her. One particular time Jess remembers is when her parents forget to wake
her up to go to vacation to the Bahamas! The sad thing is they, her dad, mom, and
sister, still went without her. She had to be babysat by a random babysitter while
her family was out having fun. She never seemed to make any friends, no matter
how hard she tried. Compared to her sister, she was a disappointment. Her sister
had straight A s, played volleyball, ran track, was the homecoming queen and was
also the most popular and the prettiest girl in school. On top of this, she had a
major crush on the most popular boy in the school. She doesn t even understand
why she likes him, she just has for the last 5 years for some reason. I mean Kevin
was a shallow and a horrible person. Yet, she liked him and the reason for that is a
mystery. One day, her life completely changed and I mean completely changed. She
was sitting in her room and blasting her music. Her favorite singer was Taylor Swift
and right now she was listening to her new hit. Then suddenly a speckle of
something fell on the tip of her nose. She looked up to see glitter falling from the
ceiling! Then, all the sudden a strange creature appeared. Her name was April, and
apparently she was Jess
PSA Essay
Creating a PSA (Public Service Announcement) may have seemed like a daunting
task at first. As I progressed and days passed I become more robust in using
Windows Movie Maker to make a PSA. Sifting through 100 s of pictures and
videos I slowly, but surely began to eliminate those that were not up to the mark.
Continuing to sort through the videos and photos, I began to put together a
storyboard. This storyboard would then be animated into one coherent, powerful
PSA. When I first started making my PSA I began with looking for videos that
would fit into my particular theme. I looked for videos that appealed to the pathos
of human emotion as well as the logos. I first searched for news videos and wanted
to make a compilation of videos, but I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Showing the effects of hate speech was not a difficult task that took quite a while
in order to select the correct photos. Many effects were psychological and therefore
difficult to display on screen. At the same time I also had to look for photos that
showed silhouettes or one that were in a cartoon art style. Ultimately, I decided on
several photos that would display the effects of hate speech, and what would
happen if it were eliminated. With the combination of all the pictures I had settled
on, I could see a complete, cohesive PSA coming together. Compiling the videos,
photos, and other details such as music and transitions was the most difficult part
of the entire assignment. The way the slides and pictures are laid decide whether
or not the PSA is well designed or poorly designed. Selecting the correct music to
go along with the video was also troublesome. After listening to multiple songs,
they all began to combine together. I first eliminated songs with lyrics as most
would not play well with my topic. The song had to have an emotional tone that
went from sad and down to happy and upbeat. Many songs were like this, but most
did not fit the bill until I came along to the perfect. As the music flowed through my
headphones, I knew that this was it. Once I had the correct music all the pieces of
the puzzle began to come

  • 2. Comparing Zeus And Prometheus In Pandora s Box In Pandora s Box, there are two human brothers who go by the names of Epimetheus and Prometheus. Both of the brothers tended to upset the gods and had angered one of the gods in particular, Zeus. Even before Epimetheus and Prometheus, humans had already upset Zeus so he took away man s ability to make or produce fire. Prometheus was quite intelligent, and he knew that a blacksmith named Hephaestos had a forge on the Isle of Lemnos with a fire burning in it. Prometheus thought it was a good idea to steal fire from the blacksmith. This angered Zeuseven more so he came up with a plan to punish humans for their lack of respect. With the help of Hephaestos, he created a woman from clay. Zeus brought her to life and made her both beautiful and charming. Zeus named her Pandora and gave her to Epimetheus as a gift. Even though Prometheus warned him not to accept any gifts from the gods, he did anyways. He was enchanted by Pandora s charming appearance and didn t believe she could possibly cause any harm, so Epimetheus married her. Zeus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The myth demonstrated how curiosity can bring big troubles, but it can also bring hope. There is a well known saying that curiosity killed the cat. However, this is only the first part of the phrase. The second part is but satisfaction brought it back. In the myth, it explained how Pandora s curiosity brought misery and destruction into the world after she had opened the box. When she reopened it after hearing the voice from within the box, hope was released and healed the wounds caused by the sting of those evil creatures. This demonstrates that while curiosity may bring misery, sadness, poverty, and disease, it may also bring wisdom, knowledge, and hope in life. Without curiosity people wouldn t take risks or try new things. Curiosity led settlers to the United States, and while some perished from the journey others thrived and brought hope of a new

After talking to a few of my friends on the team, I received a flood of texts from the rest of my teammates. One of the seniors, Mike, talked to me about he broke his leg his freshman year. He supported me through telling his story, and that despite his injury he was still able to earn a scholarship from the University of Pittsburgh. While it couldn t have been difficult for him to put himself in my shoes, his encouragement was meaningful to me. Bloom constantly portrays empathy as feeling exactly as another person. Bloom essentially frames a one sided debate on the merits of empathy by defining it to its most extreme level. While Matthieu Ricard, a Buddhist monk, may find that empathy very quickly became intolerable, most people do not exhibit this level of emotional distress while experiencing empathy. By illustrating the so called perils of empathy through a level 6 psychotherapist, and a Buddhist monk, he misconstrues the meaning of empathy. Everyday or normal empathy is much closer to what Bloom defines as compassion or cognitive empathy. Being able to understand how someone else feels and then act on it is what most people mean when they talk about empathy. It s ridiculously obvious that I wouldn t want my doctor, friends, teammates or family to feel as if they were going through the both the physical pain of breaking a bone, or how I felt being stuck on the sidelines while my best friends played football and basketball without me. I needed those closest to me to understand how I felt, and reassure me that I d make a full recovery. Instead, their ability to imagine what it was like for me to have to be on and off of crutches for almost seven months, not be able to play football and basketball, and have to go through a long rehabilitation process was what allowed them to support
  • 4. Obamacare The Affordable Care Act In March 2013, President Barack Obama signed a federal statue into law that would change the way Americans receive healthcare. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, better known as the Affordable Care Act, and sometimes called Obamacare is the most significant revision of the U.S. healthcare system since the passage of Medicare and Medicaid back in 1965. The main function of the Affordable Care Act is to improve hospitals and physicians practices financially, technologically, and clinically so the health outcomes and lower costs. Americans are split, as they are with most political issues, on whether or not the act is a viable solution to our healthcare problem. Even though it has had its problems such as a faulty website and being thought of as too complicated and expensive for the American government to take on, I believe the Affordable Care Act is a good solution for the healthcare problems in our country. Before the Affordable Healthcare Act, there were a few healthcare reform bills proposed and passed by Congress and earlier presidents. President Bill Clintonproposed a healthcare reform bill that would make employers responsible for providing their employees with health insurance. The Republicans did not agree with that plan and suggested an alternative that would require individuals to buy insurance. The Clinton bill ended up failing because of negative advertising and concerns that it was way too complex (Roy). He instead passed the State Children s

I want Laura to have the best wedding with the most amazing flowers she choose and to not worry about having the flowers not being the way she wants them to be. When Laura s wedding caught my attention, I felt honor to be able to be part in the next step in someone s lifetime. In this project, I ll talk about the history of weddings, the flowers that were used, the creation and the packing up. The flowers or herbs were used in historical weddings since the beginning of time to show a way of love and well wishes to everyone. The first use of wedding flowers were the ancient Greeks. The flowers or plants were used to make a crown for the bride to wear and was a gift of nature. The bridesmaids would have floral decorations which were garlands, bridal bouquets and boutonnieres. Mostly the bridesmaids were to make a poesies, to make, for each guest to wear as a symbol of saying thanks. Over time, the flowers and their meanings stayed the same but the herbs lost their place in modern North American weddings. Some of the cultures and religions have intertwine herbs with flowers to celebrate the marriage with a gift of nature. Leading up to and during the Middle Ages, weddings were considered as a family and community affairs. The only main thing about a wedding was for both partners to state a consent to take one of them as a spouse.

As the plot unfolds, Lady Macbeth turns into Macbeth s instrument of darkness on the grounds that she is his main push behind the death of Duncan and the plan to cover it up. She utilizes her own particular sort of control to get Macbeth to commit evil much the same as the control used by the witches with their prediction that sounds alluring, however underneath the deepest consequence is stowed away. Lady Macbeth goes about as a person of evil motives and actions throughout the play. She is included strongly in Macbeth s issues to verify that he does what is important for him to become. At the point when figuring out that Duncan had planned to visit their castle, Lady Macbeth perceives this as a prime open door for Macbeth to take on the position of King: Only look up clear; To alter favour ever is to fear. Without Lady Macbeth s tirelessness in seeing the prediction through it is likely that the killings and the resulting confusion that takes after would never have happened. But once out, she became fiercely independent and even feminist. In fact, when her father doted on her son but not her daughter, she found that his macho babytalk [sic] brought back Sofia s old antagonism towards her father (p. 27) because Sofia was the one with non stop boyfriends (p. 28), and their bickering caused her father and her to have a falling out. Nothing fixed that until she named her son Carlos, after her father a way that she connected her old, Dominican roots to her new, American identity. For Sofia, becoming American was never a big issue, and she didn t have as much culture or even memories of her homeland to hang onto, which was why she often clashed with her father because her American ideals made it difficult for her to see from her parents

I didn t always think in this manner, I originally was a perfectionist. I strived to be the best at everything I did and it stunted my growth in life for quite some time. After I understood the value of my life, I realized the key was to live genuinely; to live for a purpose that was not only important to myself, but to others as well. I was not taught morality, I had to learn it the hard way. The course, Spiritual Life and Growth, has taught me morality to some extent. On the first week of attending Spiritual Life and Growth, I decided to take a break from my commission based job for a few years; I understood the consequences if I did not sell I did not earn. I myself do not think this would waste time at all because, think about it, when a referee makes a decision on the pitch which is felt unjust to a side of players, it is going to be highly disputed leading to arguments between players and officials which in turn leads to cards being shown as we ve seen so many times before. Reason To Listen/Credibility (Then I will Say) Can you imagine yourself at a store, and looking through the candy, food, whichever section you are at, and all of a sudden you see that the popular brand Febreze was never spelled Febreeze , or Kit Kat was never spelled with a dash, Kit Kat . It blows your mind, and you can only help, but wonder how can this be. It test your memory quite a bit and makes you think about how it could ve changed from the last time you saw that brand to the time it was seen differently in the store that day. The explanation to this phenomena would be The Mandela Effect. My interest in this topic came to me when I was walking into an H.E.B, and I saw a Febreze bottle that caught my eye. The Febreze bottle was spelled Febreze , and I have always remembered Febreeze . When I Got home I went straight to my computer and searched up Febreze or Febreeze. The first thing that popped up was the Mandela Effect, and ever since then I have been hooked on this effect and its logic. As of right now, I have been looking and searching for more and more theories of this effect for a good amount of time, and I believe with my research and study I can show what The Mandela Effect is all about. The Position of Islamic Lawin Malaysia CHAPTER FOUR: THE POSITION OF ISLAMIC LAW IN MALAYSIA 4.1 Introduction It has been argued, that if colonisation had not been responsible for the introduction and application of English law, Islamic law would have developed to become the law of the land. Islamic law, coupled with the customary law of the various races, indeed represent the indigenous sources or basic foundation upon which the eventual growth of a legal system could have been founded.1 However, the grant of the Charters of Justice 1826 to the Straits Settlements, and the eventual application of English law both through the judicial process and through legislation in the Malay States had effectively displaced Islamic law from its premier position. The role which Islamic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As televisions became more mainstream and affordable, more people invested in them. The time was right for the industry to flourish. Between 1959 and 1970, the percentage of households in the U.S. with at least one TV went from 88% to 96% (Ganzel). More people buying TVs meant that the industry grew and the technology could improve. As satellite technology developed, it became inevitable for satellite televisionto develop. News programs in the 60s were a major selling point in buying a television. Part of television s success is due to the news being so relevant and reliable. In the 50s and 60s, news on the television made very informative and relevant content (Ganzel). Television in the 60s had many fandoms and communities for its popular shows, such as Star Trek. When many people have similar interests or like the same thing, they usually get along. When Star Trek first aired, it wasn t very popular. However, it has since gained a cult following and remains a very active franchise to today (Feinstein, 12) Television in the 1960s opened a door to a source of information and entertainment like never before. One of reasons Americans are so united today is because television in the 60s showed people what they had in common. Television signals weaved in and out of America, sewing us together and patching our

Other protective barriers, such as dental dams, are recommended for oral sex and analingus. Some sexually transmitted infections, such as genital warts and genital herpes can be spread through skin to skin contact, not just penetrative sex. For those in committed relationships who seek only to prevent pregnancy, there are many forms of birth control, and a healthcare provider can discuss options and detail what is the ideal form of birth control. There is no single universal method that works for everyone. According to Michael McGee, MEd, a certified sexual health educator and adjunct professor at Montclair State University in Montclair, New Jersey, sexual health is intimately related to reproduction. Birth control choices to prevent pregnancy and the steps couples need to take to have a healthy pregnancy are all aspects of sexual health. Some factors a qualified physician will take into consideration when discussing options are: Patient s sexual activity Previously used birth control methods Existing medical conditions Lifestyle and likelihood of taking a daily pill on schedule Use of tobacco products Existence of menstrual migraines Menstrual flow Personal and family history of blood clots Existence or history of breast cancer Family history of ovarian cancer History of premenstrual syndrome History of acne Current medications Desire to become

Ovington began studying the lives of African Americans living in New York at the time, which lead her research and findings to writing Half a Man: The Status of Negro in New York. In this book Ovington concentrated on economic status of black New Yorkers, carefully examining their employment opportunities and working conditions (Morris, pg.72). Ovington viewed racial discrimination in the labor market as a major issue in New York, while focusing her attention closely to the conditions of black womans economic and labor experiences comparing them to white woman. Mary White Ovington s study tended to be descriptive given its reliance of secondary data, but it was nonetheless a major contribution to the understanding of a northern black community during the first decade of the twentieth century (Morris, pg.73). The research done by Ovington captured Du Bois s attention and became an important addition to the Atlanta s school offerings in urban and economic sociology. Another important female who help contribute to the development of modern day sociology is Lucy Craft Laney, who has been described as one of the most important African American

The Psychodynamic approach focuses on the unconscious mind and what drives thoughts and behavior based on the mind and personality. Sigmund Freud, The founding father of the Psychodynamic approach, theorized that early relationships with parents shape an individual s personality. King, L. A. (2014). The science of psychologyan appreciative view. New York, NY: McGraw Hill Education. Pg 12. The psychodynamic approach is the best method to describe and analyze human behavior; in my opinion, because our early experiences and relationships are highly influential on how we act and behave as an adults.
  • 47. General Demand Function Of Desktop Computers The general demand function represents the relationship between the demand of a product or service and the following six factors: the price of the product or service, the consumers income, price of related goods or services, the taste patterns of consumers, expected price of the good in some future period and number of the consumers in the market (Thomas Maurice, 2012, pp. 40). This general demand function can be applied to all products and services to forecast the quantity that will be demanded based on the current market trends. The remainder of this paper will apply this general demand function to desktop computers and how the various factors affect the product demand. The first factor to analyze is the price of desktop computers. Like all goods and services in the market, the price and the quantity demanded are inversely related as described in the law of demand. If the price of desktop computers rises, the demand will decrease. Similarly, if the price of desktop computers falls, the demand will rise. Consumers often watch for prices to drop or sales to occur before making big purchases to. Due to the inverse relationship between the demand and the price of the computers, the slope parameter would have a negative sign. This negative sign denotes that as one piece of the equation changes, the other will move in the opposite direction. The second factor of the general demand function is the consumers income. Desktop computers are considered a normal good, or

In this period, sleeves were much wider, and capes, veils, chin straps, and head coverings were often worn. The styles of the late 1960 s closely resemble the Gothic Age with the exception of seams instead of laced and tied garments. Renaissance By the High Renaissance period, the time of the Eli2abethan Age and of Shakespeare, patterns were being experimented with and styles were changing. The waist was finally accented by boned bodices, the hips flared out, necklines dropped low, and sleeves were padded in sections all the the way down the arm. The Spanish originated farthingale was created at this time. The farthingale was thought to have been worn to hide pregnancies. Another garment that looked like a sleeveless robe was worn over dresses and formed almost a hunchback appearance because of farthingale width at the hips. Cavalier and Baroque The Cavaliers, living in the 17th century, wore breeches, mid thigh length capes, and wide brimmed hats. This look is closely associated with the Three Musketeers . Lace was also very popular at this time. Men wore wide lace collars, lace cuffs, and lace boot cuffs. Women also wore wide lace collars on dresses with softer looks to them than those of the High Renaissance. Louis XIV The Cavalier styles were taken over by the wardrobe of King Louis XIV of France. King Louis was said to have adored fashion and was always superbly dressed. He

  • 51. Short Story On April Fools Day It was a rainy April 1st when Jess was born. The irony of her being born on April Fools Day was tremendous. Why? Well, because everyone thought she was just a big old joke. Ever since she was young her parents never seemed to bother to care about her. One particular time Jess remembers is when her parents forget to wake her up to go to vacation to the Bahamas! The sad thing is they, her dad, mom, and sister, still went without her. She had to be babysat by a random babysitter while her family was out having fun. She never seemed to make any friends, no matter how hard she tried. Compared to her sister, she was a disappointment. Her sister had straight A s, played volleyball, ran track, was the homecoming queen and was also the most popular and the prettiest girl in school. On top of this, she had a major crush on the most popular boy in the school. She doesn t even understand why she likes him, she just has for the last 5 years for some reason. I mean Kevin was a shallow and a horrible person. Yet, she liked him and the reason for that is a mystery. One day, her life completely changed and I mean completely changed. She was sitting in her room and blasting her music. Her favorite singer was Taylor Swift and right now she was listening to her new hit. Then suddenly a speckle of something fell on the tip of her nose. She looked up to see glitter falling from the ceiling! Then, all the sudden a strange creature appeared. Her name was April, and apparently she was Jess
  • 52. PSA Essay Creating a PSA (Public Service Announcement) may have seemed like a daunting task at first. As I progressed and days passed I become more robust in using Windows Movie Maker to make a PSA. Sifting through 100 s of pictures and videos I slowly, but surely began to eliminate those that were not up to the mark. Continuing to sort through the videos and photos, I began to put together a storyboard. This storyboard would then be animated into one coherent, powerful PSA. When I first started making my PSA I began with looking for videos that would fit into my particular theme. I looked for videos that appealed to the pathos of human emotion as well as the logos. I first searched for news videos and wanted to make a compilation of videos, but I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Showing the effects of hate speech was not a difficult task that took quite a while in order to select the correct photos. Many effects were psychological and therefore difficult to display on screen. At the same time I also had to look for photos that showed silhouettes or one that were in a cartoon art style. Ultimately, I decided on several photos that would display the effects of hate speech, and what would happen if it were eliminated. With the combination of all the pictures I had settled on, I could see a complete, cohesive PSA coming together. Compiling the videos, photos, and other details such as music and transitions was the most difficult part of the entire assignment. The way the slides and pictures are laid decide whether or not the PSA is well designed or poorly designed. Selecting the correct music to go along with the video was also troublesome. After listening to multiple songs, they all began to combine together. I first eliminated songs with lyrics as most would not play well with my topic. The song had to have an emotional tone that went from sad and down to happy and upbeat. Many songs were like this, but most did not fit the bill until I came along to the perfect. As the music flowed through my headphones, I knew that this was it. Once I had the correct music all the pieces of the puzzle began to come
