Risks Of Risk Management Programs
Risk Management
Risk management is defined as the orderly procedure of recognizing, assessing, analyzing and tending
to get rid of potential risks that exist within the organization. To make it more simple and
understandable risk management is the procedure to secure the advantages by maximizing modern

Summary Of A Book From The Sky By Xu Bing
A book from the Sky (Tianshu) is an installation work by Xu Bing, first exhibited in 1988. It consists
of three hanging scrolls vertically draping across the ceiling, hovering over columns and rows of
books systematically arranged on the floor, surrounded by walls covered with similar scrolls. The
books, which are all equally spilt open and spaced out, mimic a wave like motion, and the hanging
scrolls in the ceiling appear to be delicately falling from the sky. At the front of the installation, a book
with its front page opened signals the name of the artwork, followed by a couple other closed books,
all over a short wooden block like table. Each hanging scroll and book is filled with several small
Chinese characters, a contrasting black ink on white paper, that Xu Bing carefully printed using
traditional Chinese wood blocking technique. To produce the columns of text, the artist hand carved
over a thousand individual character on blocks of wood, then arranged them in a specific sequence
before stamping them ink on paper. Since its first appearance, A book from the Sky has been displayed
in several locations around the world, with slight variation on the arrangement of the elements (for
instance, a forth hanging scroll may substitute the ones on the wall). It is arguably one of Xu Bing s
most significant artworks, and it focuses on visually exploring the limitations of written language and
the transformation of traditional practices to convey postmodern ideas.

What Were the Two Greatest Sucesses and Failures of the...
What were the two greatest successes and two greatest failures of the Wilson government 1964 70?
This period of Labour rule is often marked down as a poor performance on behalf of the labour party,
critically looked upon by many historians. There were many failings under the rule of this government
however the circumstances they were placed in caused severe restraints in their options.
Wilson had been voted into government with the promise of central planning and the white heat of
new technology , catching the mood of the moment, and making the public believe he was not just
another old bumbling politician, but one who showed some promise in getting the country moving,
and reinvigorating the lumbering economy. However when Wilson was ... Show more content on

Although disillusioned to the cause of the strike action Wilson still attempted to pull together an act
that would limit the pull of the trade unions, and through Barbara Castle s optimistically titled in place
of strife it appeared that they may prevail against the vigilante controlling of the government; through
relatively mild controls on their ability to resort to strike action. The act had popular support in the
country as many people did not want to see their country being run by the trade unions. However
inside the labour party the bill met much opposition and even with a majority of 100 it was clear that
the bill would not get passed; the majority reason for which being that many labour party members
believed, that with the economy in the state it was in, and the failure of the party to meet the measures

Marketing Research Proposal
Organization: The Beerenberg farm
1. Identify the target customer and discuss the market segmentation of the organization.
Market segmentation is dividing a market into direct groups of consumers who might separate
products requirements or marketing mixes, the process of classifying customers into groups with
different need and requirement. (Kotler et al 2010, p.264). In this proposal, the market segmentation
will be discussed from three aspects, which are demographic, behaviours and psychographic.
In this section, four elements of demographic segmentation will be briefly discussed. The age group,
life style, gender and income level. In terms of the products is focusing on the quality and the ... Show

control of the process. This could be the competitive advantage that will beat other brands on the
market.
4. Decide whether qualitative or quantitative data (or both) will be applied in this research and briefly
discuss the suggestions.
In this proposal, a combination of qualitative and quantitative data should be applied.
The qualitative research approach aims to have a greater understanding on a specific problem by
focusing on small sample and non statistical data analysis. However, the quantitative research
approach focuses on the measurement and analysing the data in a statistical way. Furthermore,
qualitative research is more likely to ask open question which is different from close question that
quantitative research ask. In this proposal, the Beerenberg farm could use both research methods to
satisfy the research objects. (Zikmund et al. 2011, p.69) Firstly, the quantitative research method could
be used to identify the customer type and help organization have a brief idea. Secondly, the qualitative

My Girl, Vada Sultenfuss Models
In the movie My Girl, Vada Sultenfuss models the symptoms commonly used to diagnose Illness
Anxiety Disorder. However, she does not possess this psychological abnormality. As portrayed in the
film, Vada exhibits thoughts and behaviors that are not typical of an eleven year old girl. At first
glance, she may seem mentally sick to the viewer. Upon further examination however, it is clear to see
that is not the case. The odd behaviors modeled by this young child are actually a cry for attention,
and there are many aspects of this film that lead to this conclusion.
First, Vada seems to be suffering from Illness Anxiety Disorder because throughout the beginning of
the movie, she is consumed with the notion that she absolutely has a biological illness. A person with
Illness Anxiety Disorder is often convinced, or at least always worried, that she or he is showing
symptoms of a significant illness. In actually, there is obviously nothing wrong with the individual,
but the notion can cause distress in that person s life, or even impair her or him from living
productively. Vada is a healthy young girl who has no logical reason to worry about disease. Still, she
stays preoccupied with various somatic problems she feels can cause her to die if not treated
immediately. Some of the illnesses she claims she has include hemorrhoids, prostate cancer, and breast
cancer. Vada also believes she has had a chicken bone lodged in her throat for three years and that she
was born jaundiced. Her

Essay On The Battle Of Chipyong-Nin
The Battle of Chipyong ni was a decisive battle during the Korean War and the first major victory
following the entry of the Chinese into the war. COL Freeman employed the following principles of
mission command during the battle of Chipyong ni: build cohesive teams through mutual trust, use of
mission orders, exercise disciplined initiative, and accept prudent risk. He was an outstanding leader
who knew the value of good communication with his unit. He led by example, and fostered a climate
that allowed his subordinates to excel.
The battle of Chipyong ni took place from 13 15 February 1951, in the small road hub and railway
town of the same name1. The 8th Army Commander, General Ridgeway, determined that it was a key
location to keep the Chinese from moving farther south to stabilize the UN front2. COL Paul Freeman,
who would later become a four star general, commanded the 23rd Infantry Regiment3. The unit
recently won the battle of Twin Tunnels several miles south. Freeman s mission was to deny the
enemy the use of the road net and hold the area of Chipyong ni4. Over the course of three long nights
the Soldiers of the 23rd infantry regiment held back an overwhelming Chinese force, estimates from
after the battle believe that there were six Chinese Communist Force (CCF) Divisions5. COL Paul
Freeman had a long history of military experience in Asia, to which many attribute much of his
success during this battle. As the son of a military doctor, he grew up in

Compare And Contrast The Four Sects In Hinduism
In Hinduism, unlike the other religions we have read about, there is not as much of a rivalry between
sects. Instead, each sect preaches tolerance and acceptance towards one another. As situations changed
and different responses were expressed, the four major sects were created: Vaishnavism, Shaivism,
Shaktism, and Smartism. Vaishnavism and Shivaism share the similarity of being monotheistic in
nature with each believing in one supreme G d Vishnu or Shiva respectively. In addition to these four
sects, there are six other schools of Vedantic [Astika related] philosophy: Nyaya, Vaisheshika,
Samkhya, Yoga, Purva Mimamsa [Mimamsa], and Uttara Mimamsa [Vedanta]. The latter three are the
most popular. Vaishnavism, the most popular sect, believes

Smith, Denis. War Measures Act . The Canadian Encyclopedia. Toronto: Historica Canada, 2013.

My Thoughts/Commentary Notes
The war measures act seems like a great policy that would allow for quick and bold decisions which
would be best for a situation of war.
If I was alive during WW1 when this policy was being imposed, I would be in favor of it because I
understand how important it is for the government to make quick decisions without the delay of
arguments and debates. However, If I was one of the enemy aliens and they used this policy to force
me to work for them (like constructing railways etc.) I would not be in favor of this act and I would

This is one evidence of how much Canada cares about national security and is willing to go to any
extent. The October Crisis case seems like nothing compared to the acts of domestic terrorism that
have occurred in other countries, and I think that to achieve the level of national security that Canada
has acquired these countries should practice policies like the war measures act to solidify their
national security. A country that I know will benefit from such a law is India.
This speech made by Pierre Trudeau shows how much the Canadian government cares about doing
whatever is in the best interest of the country and the Canadian People because it shows that the
government wants to protect its national security, and at the same time wants to do it in a way that
won t harm the general population. However, in the case of the October crisis this was not possible

Sahelian Folk Music
For centuries, the Tuareg, traditional nomadic Berbers, inhabited the Saharan regions of North Africa
Niger, Mali, Libya, Algeria and Burkina Faso known not only for hosting incredibly violent
successions of political struggles but for giving birth to a musical revolution. Since the 20th century,
Tuareg tribes across the region have risen against Nigerian and Malian authorities when their voices
failed to be heard to guard their independence and personal freedoms. During these events, traditional
Sahelian folk music transformed into a revolutionary guitar driven style called al guitara to convey
messages inspiring the resistance and the nationalist political movement known as tanekra. Neighbor

The Struggle Of Women In The Epic Of Gilgamesh
The mythological tale, Epic of Giglamesh is a story that was written over 3,000 years ago and has
withstood the test of time to become a true classic. It is a story full of fear, despair and hope.
Gilgamesh is the King of the City of Uruk who drives his people crazy so they ask the gods for help.
Their request is answered when Gilgamesh s and Enkidu have a wrestling match and become best
friends. Together they decide to kill evil demons but the end result is that Enkidu must die as well.

During this period, it is believed that men have nothing to do with creation and that sex is just an
activity. Women are represented as serpents and referred to as dragon flies that shed their skin and
bring forth new life similar to the way a woman brings a child into the world. Women are considered
to be divine, immortal and the creators. It is only the female who can leave a piece of themselves
behind on earth through their children. It is only the nymph of the dragonfly who sheds her larva and
sees the sun in his glory. When Gilgamesh seeks advice from Utnapishtim, the God of life, Giglamesh
is told There is a plant that grows under the water, it has a prickle like a thorn, like a rose; it will
wound your hands, but if you succeed in taking it, then your hands will hold that which restores his

Credibility Definition
Credibility is the measurement by which one s reputation is evaluated for the presence of
trustworthiness in work excellence, the ability to empathize with those who are in your employ or
those who are your employers, as well as one s corporate and personal values; notwithstanding, one s
ability to deliver on promises (Cardon, P., pg. 3, 2013). Therefore, in order to achieve credibility one
must utilize the key elements which formulate credibility. As it stands, the key elements which

Stakeholders in Health Reform
When talking about healthcare reform, one must always think about the stakeholders. Stakeholders are
people and organizations that have a stake (interest) in what a healthcare organization does and that
could affect the healthcare organization (Olden, 2011). There are many different stakeholders in our
case study but we will focus on the main ones.
In Massachusetts, the Massachusetts Health Care Reform Act had a considerable impact on hospitals
and the health care system. Most community health centers were benefiting from coverage expansions
and safety net hospitals were struggling financially due to the fact that the state put more funding
towards insurance subsidies to expand coverage. Academic medical centers (AMC) were able to ...

In Massachutettes, health plans wanted to eliminate continuous open enrollment, assess the full annual
penalty for any significant period of continuous un insurance, impose waiting periods for certain
services and bar consumers from buying in the merged market if they had access to employer
sponsored coverage (case study). Doing these things, the insurance companies hoped to lower
premiums. Bill 2585 did pass but the law did not go as far as the insurance companies had hoped. It
only limited open enrollment in the merged market to twice a year in 2011 and once a year after that
(case study), which didn t really help much. Due to loss in the small market group in 2009, health
plans planned double digit premium increases in 2010 (case study), but the government stepped in and
put a stop to it. Even though the big name hospitals were driving up cost, the insurance companies
were seen as the bad guys. This caused local plans to record sizable operating losses for the first
quarter of 2010 and had to draw on reserves to cover expected losses resulting from the rate rollbacks
(case study). The insurance companies, especially the smaller ones, suffered financially.
The most important stakeholder in the healthcare policymaking is probably the patient. In
Massachusetts, the Act provided nearly universal health insurance coverage (case study). In 2009 the

In all of Pizza Hut s restaurants, members of staff are there to encourage the average consumer to
spend more money; this is often achieved by asking a series of questions I.e. Would you like any side
orders? or Would you like to see the dessert menu? In every Pizza Hut store the cashiers and sales
assistants are specifically trained to strongly persuade customers to purchase add on items at the till,
these include products such as garlic breads or extra drinks.
Another way in which they achieve this sense of personal selling is via the phone. After the customer
has completed their order, the sales assistant will then begin trying to sell additional goods. I believe
that the advantage of personal selling is the fact that people are more easily persuaded when interacted
with other humans. Scientific studies show that being able to see a person s body language allows
them to relax and be convinced a lot easier. A consumer website goes on to elaborate that in most
cases Personal selling has a superior impact on consumers than direct mail or other forms of
advertising... In terms of improvements, I would suggest that in order to increase sales, I feel that the
company should offer free extras if customers exceed a minimum spend of £25.00.

Analyzing the Surprise Ending in Descartes Discourse on...
Surprise Ending in Descartes In the book Discourses on the Method and the Meditations, author Rene
Descartes famously questions the existence of humanity. His most famous quotation, the one for
whom he is most remembered is I think therefore I am (Descartes 11). According to this idea, so long
as a being has the ability to think then they existed. Animals have brains and therefore they must exist.
In order to truly, exist, to be a thinking entity, a person or organism must utilize the ability granted to
them by their mind. This is the focus of much of this text, the nature of existence and the line between
what is true and what we only imagine or perceive to be true. For the majority of the text, the
philosopher asks questions in trying to formulate his own identity and indeed whether or not he
existed as all. It would be assumed that the end of the book would be a conclusion of this internal
dialogue where Descartes definitively states his position on human existence. However, Descartes
instead devotes the end of the text to a wholly new concept: namely he applies the question of
existence to a being above humanity. At the end of the text, instead of continuing on with these
questions Descartes instead discusses the idea of God and whether or not He exists. At the time of the
Royal Society which Descartes was a member of, the researchers and philosophers were trying to
understand everything about the world, something which actually is impossible to do. Renee Descartes

The younger you are implanted the better the chances of being able to fully hear are. The older you are
when implanted the less likely the chances of being able to fully hear are. In 2010 it was reported that
over 40 million Americans are older than 65 years old, of those 40 million many will most likely
experience hearing loss. By the year of 2050, the amount of senior citizens will increase by 147%
(Sladen, D. P., Zappler, A. (2015)). That is more people with hearing loss and that means a growing
need for an implant that may or may not work because of the age of the user. An estimated 65% of
people 10 years and older have a hearing impairment(Sladen, D. P., Zappler, A. (2015)). With the
older a person becomes the more hearing loss they have. While losing hearing it would be very
difficult to gain hearing back with an implant. By implanting a child at a young age you still need to

Importance Of Learning Computers
What is a computer and why it is essential to learn about computers today?
A computer can be defined as a machine that manipulates data according to a list of instructions
(Oxford). According to Webster dictionary a computer is defined as a programmable usually electronic
device that can store, retrieve, and process data (Merriam Webster). Whether it be a laptop, desk top,
tablet or phone, it is essential to learn about computers in order to function in the 21st century.
Computers are found everywhere in society. They make locating and processing data much easier and
efficient. Computers allow entities such as hospitals or businesses to process information rapidly with
the click of a button. Computers allow information to be transferred from one city to another in an
instant. The internet, phone, watch, printer and even some homecare are all run by a computer.
If someone in today s society does not understand how to operate the computer they more than likely
will not be able to maintain a job, or even complete basic functions within our society. Computers are
essential items in today s culture and used worldwide as a tool for effective communication and
processing of data.
Health Care Technology
Computers and health care have worked hand in hand for many years but within the last 10 years the
increase in the use of computer technology has catapulted healthcare into the 21st century. The use of

Public Displays Of A Public Display
Problem As displays are often located in areas where meetings take place, informal get togethers
happen or visiting guests are welcomed, we believe that they would provide a great opportunity to act
as some form of common space not only to share information between physically present persons but
also to exchange information with the display itself. For example, consider a visitor who wants to
show pictures from his recent tour to his friends or he suddenly decides to give a presentation of his
latest work while having a chat in a company s coffee area. It can be quite cumbersome for all his
friends to gather around the rather small mobile phone screen. Instead, he would like to utilize any
existing public display nearby to temporarily leverage the larger screen for picture sharing or
presentation purposes. However, such pervasive displays are normally used only as output devices and
do not allow user to interact with their operations. Moreover, most public display do not provide any
means of interaction with it nor is there an easy way to add user content to be displayed. Instead, they
automatically display contents that get it from a central repository or web service and often this cycle
have been in a pre determined way (Geel, 2013). Literature Review Public displays have becoming
increasingly prevalent within public places such as train stations, airports and museums in order to

when the Iranian operation began, North was put in charge of both operations. This allowed North to

Blame In Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet
Blame is to find fault with or to hold responsible. Habitually, people resort to holding responsibilities
over others in order to eliminate the blame off of themselves. With a conclusion as tragic as the one in
Shakespeare s famous play, Romeo and Juliet, the factors to blame for their death are countless, but
the most remarkable factors to blame for the young couple s deaths are the Capulet family and Romeo
and Juliet themselves.
In a way, Romeo and Juliet are to blame for their own death. Impulsiveness, such as that displayed by
Romeo and Juliet, may lead people to perform dodgy actions. In Act 1 of Romeo and Juliet, the young
couple meet at a party hosted by the Capulets where they unquestionably fall in love in love with each
other. Romeo ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The young Capulet was raised in a household where her father would abuse Juliet both verbally and
emotionally, including some suggestions of physical abuse. When Lady Capulet announces to Juliet
that she is not to be sad for her cousin s death, because she is to be wed to Paris, Juliet refuses to do
such as she still loves Romeo. As Capulet hears of Juliet s decline to marriage, he bursts into a rage,
calling Juliet worthless for being his only child and not doing anything for the sake of his status.
Capulet s anger goes to extreme lengths as he threatens to drag her to the church and expresses his
anger at Juliet by announcing he feels the urge to hurt her. As a result of experiencing this damage
throughout her childhood, Juliet may have viewed Romeo as a way to escape her father and his
abusive ways. In this case, Juliet stabbed herself after seeing Romeo dead, because she could not have
survived a world where she must return back to her father and Paris without Romeo. Not only was her
father a damaging influence on Juliet, but her mother and nurse affected her in a negative way. Act 1,
Scene 3 opens with Lady Capulet asking Nurse for Juliet so that she can ask Juliet for her opinion on
getting married. Before Nurse makes awfully inappropriate comments about Juliet, Lady Capulet

The Modelling Process And How It Helped With Risk Management
Explain the modelling process and how it helped with risk management
It is important to understand that you go through a set process of making multiple mock ups of your
product you are developing to a final stage this helps because there is a risk making your final product
without any sort of trial and error for example if you decide to make a fitness application and figure
out that the template and sort of arrangement doesn t look good then you will have to go back into the
code and fix it which in turn will make you face even more errors therefore wasting a lot of time and
even money. But in order to counter this situation like this if the person had of made a Photoshop copy
then he would of seen that his app maybe doesn t look that visually appealing and that would also help
looking at the overall feel of that application which will in turn help figure out any more errors in the
application and areas to improve upon. This strategy of technology modelling will greatly reduce the
risk of you getting stuck in any sticky situation therefore saving time and taking worry of your
shoulders.
Experiences of Technological Modelling for me I have also have gone through similar process during
the Initial brief assessment and prototype development. During the initial brief assessment we had to
go through the basic technological modelling process to come out with fully developed initial brief for
an application or a website in this case my browser but during this

Female Characters In Beowulf
The poet uses female characters in Beowulf to reinforce the limits of female autonomy. The male
heroism and its importance, overshadowed and minimalized the significance of women in the poem of
Beowulf. The appearance of women is brief and limited however their roles are fundamental. Six
women are introduced throughout the poem Wealhtheow and Hygd, Hildeburh and Freawaru, Thyrth
and Grendel s mother, the women play various roles and reinforce the limits of female autonomy
differently. The women can be categorized in to three separate groups, women as peaceweaver s,
women as hostess and women as monsters. The women who are classed as peaceweaver s are princess

The second hostess woman in Beowulf is queen Hygd who also helps to ensure everyone is enjoying
themselves however her part is much smaller in the poem, no order is described in which she carries
the cup through the hall. Hygd is portrayed as young, gentle and kind, after her husband s death a lot
of political power lays on her as she tries to pass on their kingdom to Beowulf as she deems her son
too young. In doing this Hygd is taking over the role of her husband which is very important this helps
show women in Beowulf have some political influence and control over decision making and giving
orders yet this is only due to her husband s death which shows the reinforcement of limits of female
autonomy. Lastly the two women in the poem that are portrayed as monsters are Thryth and Grendel s
mother. These women are opposite to the hostess and the peaceweavers so they are deemed as
monstrous, they comfortably use violence as a means to settle all their disputes, this brings them
satisfaction. These women do not welcome people in to their homes and kill anyone that enters. In
contrast to the hostess and peaceweavers these women do not believe in using words or marriage to
influence people, instead they resort to violence, weapons and their physical strength. Grendel s
mother and Thryth act manly and very hostile and are two different types of monsters with similar
qualities. Thryth

Research Paper first draft
16th Nov 2011
In a Dark Night, I Find My Answers. The two poems Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening and
Acquainted with the Night written by Robert Frost are very similar to each other because of the
simplistic form of language used and the uses of metaphors. When we first read the poem, it looks like
an ordinary poem but once we go in depth and understand the meaning, it becomes so much more.
Both of the poem has a very dark, gloomy and lonely setting with a really mysterious tone. There are
different metaphors used in each poem to symbolize death; Sleep in Stopping By Woods on a Snowy
Evening and Night in Acquainted with the Night. The characters in the two poem are both in a journey

I have walked out in rain and back in rain. from Acquainted with the Night shows the depression of
the character because most of us relate to rain as an emotional moment and makes us feel vulnerable.
When it rains, the whole atmosphere becomes very gloomy and sad, and the author is trying to express
the characters sadness.
The character in Stopping by Woods in a Snowy Evening is a very old fashioned person because he is
with a horse and rides his horse through the woods. My little horse must think it queer. To stop
without a farmhouse near Between the woods and frozen lake shows how even his horse is surprised
to be stopping in the middle of the woods where there is no livelihood. It is very unusual even for the
horse to stop at this hour of the night because they should be trying to get home as soon as possible
since it is already dark. He gives his harness bells a shake. To ask if there is some mistake. express
how the horse is also very attentive about what is going on around him and his master s unusual
behavior. The horse tries to confirm with the character whether or not they have stopped in the right
place.

A Single Story Analysis
When Adichie refers to a single story, she is describing that a person or group of people may be
disillusioned due to their lack of exposure to other perspectives and ideas. For instance, Adichie states
that when she read American and European storybooks as a child, all of the characters were of the
white race and exemplified white characteristics, leading to an ignorant and close minded depiction of
the world. Moreover, when Adichie began reading African literature, she found that people like me,
girls with skin the color of chocolate, whose kinky hair could not form ponytails, could also exist in
literature (Adichie 1:07). This illustrates that in both African and European literature, characterization
is limited to the demographics known to the writers, the story is restricted based on one s viewpoint.
Furthermore, the danger in simply reading or writing a single story is that over time, a person, or
group of people, can become bias due to their lack of exposure to cultural and ethnical diversity. For
example, Adichie describes that when she met the family of Fide, her houseboy, and saw that one of
Fide s brothers had woven a beautiful basket she was taken aback because it had become impossible
for me to see them as anything else but poor. Their poverty was my single story for them (Adichie
3:43). This seemingly minor misconception exposes Adichie to the dangers of following a single story
, a reality check which changed her perception of the world. Furthermore, the

Should College Be Free
Today in America, college tuition is more expensive compared to what it was in the 80s and 90s. More
people rely on welfare and are living in poverty; they cannot afford college for their children. The first
two years of college should be provided free for everyone in America because there is a possibility
that some of the world s brightest minds could not afford the outlandish prices of college. Some
people do not believe this way because their taxes will go up and they think they should not have to
pay for someone else s child. These people have some good points as taxes will go up, but ultimately
they will be helping better the community by getting more educated people out into the world. The
first two years of college should be provided for qualifying students because they work hard, they may
not be able to afford it, and student debt can cause severe depression. ... Show more content on

This idea should be implemented across America because it prevents those who do not care about
college from going for free for two years. Those students who work hard and do their best should have
their college paid for two years even if they do not have the best ACT scores or the best grades. Some
people are not great test takers and cannot do well in the school environment but still want to be
successful in life. Why should these students have to pay to better themselves? If students take the
initiative and work to the best of their ability, then they should not be punished by having to pay for
two more years of school, especially if they cannot afford it. If they want to go to college and work
hard to become a better member of society, then they should not have to pay to do

Heparin Research Paper
Thromboembolic diseases are increasing all over the globe and always require anti coagulant therapy.
Heparin is one of the most available drugs for anti coagulant activity and is the second most used
naturally occurring drug after insulin (REF). It is a highly sulfated glycosaminoglycan made up of
disaccharide units containing a hexuronic acid (α L iduronic acid or β D glucuronic acid) linked 1, 4 to
α D glucosamine. The heparin molecules consist of a heterogeneous mixture of polymers with a
similar backbone, which results from variations of sulfation on the uronic acid residue (O sulfated at
C2) and on the D glucosamine (N acethylated, N sulfated, O sulfated at C6 and/or C3). Heparin is one
of the potent anti coagulant because of its unique ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These sulphated polysaccharides show great advantages as alternative sources for anti coagulant
therapies, especially because of the massive use of heparin (Fareed et al., 2000). These marine
sulphated polysaccharide also offer some advantages over heparin. They show considerably lower
contamination levels of virus and/or prions because they are exclusively extracted from marine
sources. Moreover, these marine sulphated polysaccharides have the potential of being more useful as
clinical reagents due to their regular and well defined structures (Pomin Mourão, 2008). This attention
is a consequence of the great interest in novel sulfated polysaccharides such as glycosaminoglycans
(GAG). GAG are of particular interest to researchers looking for alternative and/or safer sources of
heparin (Mourão Pereira, 1999). Cassaro et al. [1] studied and found that there were various
glycosaminoglycans in mollusk. Many scholars have separated and extracted glycoprotein or
glycosaminoglycan from the edible parts of mollusca such as pearl oysters and scallops [2 12].
Abalone, a sea mollusc are also being investigated as sources of anti thrombotic and anti coagulant
molecules because they are rich sources of structurally diverse bioactive components (Harnedy and
FitzGerald, 2012). Different types of sulphated polysaccharides that have been obtained from visceral

The French Revolution was a quest for liberty, and centered on people who wanted their freedom.
They wanted to be treated as equal participants in the community, not as slaves for the royals or
nobles. The peasants who represents more than 90% of France s population, were working for their
own families and everyone else as they paid much more in taxes. Brotherhood was the way of

Brotherhood was not only sticking by each other in your community but brotherhood within the
church system. Christian brotherhood was part of the fraternity, one was identified by the social and
religious links based on their Christian brotherhood. The second sense of the fraternity was if one
were to follow the path of liberty and equality as a free pact. Brotherhood was a way of life for people
during the revolution it was how they were able to find a moment of peace in all the bad around them.
To act toward someone with the spirit of brotherhood is to accept them as they are, and treat them as
you would want to be treated. Even if the government was not doing this, the peasants and the lower
class people knew that to survive they needed each other. One person alone would die, but with people
to help them along their struggle they will survive. Hubris was a big conflict in the French Revolution,
between humility and the intoxication of power napoleon was his hands full of dangerous hubris. This
is a natural human trait that can be negative if an individual was unstable at balancing humility and
power while using his leadership skills for the good of others. Hubris in history were mostly a
negative, significant opportunities that fell short and completely collapsed. The consequence for
hubris to occur, is when a leader gains the flaw of hubris,

Privilege Level And No Proper Fault Containment
privilege level and no proper fault containment, any bug might be fatal. A malfunctioning third party
device driver, for example, can easily destroy key data structures and take down the entire system.
That this scenario is a serious threat follows from the observation that the majority of operating
system crashes are caused by device drivers [7, 25]. Yet another problem is that the immense size of
monolithic kernels makes them very complex and hard to fully understand. Without a global
understanding of the kernel even the most experienced programmers can easily introduce faults by not
being aware of some peculiar sideeffect of their actions. At the other extreme is the minimal kernel,
which contains only the barest mechanism, but no ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We have implemented drivers for IDE, floppy, and RAM disks, keyboards, displays, audio, printers,
and various Ethernet cards. Above the driver layer are the server processes. These include the file
server, process server, network server, information server, reincarnation server, and others. On top of
the servers come the ordinary user processes, including shells, compilers, utilities, and application
programs. With a small number of minor exceptions, the servers and drivers are normal user
processes. To avoid any ambiguity, we note again that each server and driver runs as a separate user
process with its own address space completely disjoint from the address spaces of the kernel and other
servers, drivers, and user processes. In our design, processes do not share any virtual address space
and can only communicate with each other using the IPC mechanisms that are provided by the kernel.
This point is crucial to the reliability as it prevents faults in one server or driver from spreading to a
different one, in exactly the same way that a bug in a compilation going on in one process cannot
affect what a browser in a different process is doing. In user mode, the operating system processes are
restricted in what they can do. Therefore, to support the servers and drivers in performing their tasks,
the kernel exports a number of kernel calls that authorized processes can make. Device drivers, for

The Effects of Alcohol and Caffeine on the Heartbeat Rate in Daphnia Magnus
Abstract
The projects purpose was to determine the effects of alcohol and caffeine on the heartbeat rate in
Daphnia Magnus. Our hypothesis is alcohol causes a decrease in heart rate, whereas caffeine causes an
accelerated heart rate, predicting that the more caffeine we give the daphnia the faster it heartbeat rate
will become and the heartbeat rate will decrease as we give the Daphnia alcohol. After doing the
experiment we found that the more caffeine we added to the Daphnia Magna the faster its heartbeat
rate became. We also found that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We Placed 1 drop of a 1% caffeine solution on the Daphnia. After waiting for a few seconds we began
to count the heart beats and recorded the results on our data sheet.
Next we removed the excess solution from the Daphnia and flushed it with aquarium water. Using the
same procedure we monitored the effects of 1 1/2% and 2.0% caffeine solutions and recorded our
results and placed the Daphnia in the recovery tank. After completing the caffeine series, we obtained
a the second set of drugs. This time instead of using caffeine we used varied concentrations of alcohol
2%, 4% and 6% using the same method as the caffeine procedure. Again recording our results and
placing the Daphnia in the recovery tank when finished.
Results
The original purpose of this experiment was to determine how alcohol and caffeine
effected the heartbeat rate of a Daphnia. The results of the experiment were that the
higher percentage caffeine and alcohol placed onto the Daphnia the higher the heart rate.
Average Daphnia Magnus Heartbeats per Minute

Conclusion
After completing the experiment we found that when we gave the Daphnia caffeine the heartbeat rate
did show an increase. However, we also found that alcohol also increased the number of times the
heart beat. Even though we performed all of the experiments very carefully, we cannot be certain that
the effect we saw was due to the drugs. Perhaps the change in heartbeat rate is caused by

The Neoliberalism Phase Of Globalization
The Neoliberalism phase of globalization that has been going on from the 1970s until present day took
place after the Imperialism juncture and the Keynesian stage; which lasted from the 1820s through the
1920s and the 1930s through the 1960s, respectively. The stage of globalization that is taking place in
our daily lives now, is mainly to benefit from economies of scale, exploit cheap labor, respond to the
increasingly global competition, benefit from low wages, and take advantage from reduced taxes and
regulations by moving into developing countries where there are cheap subcontractors rather than
manufacturing in developed countries where the cost of production is very high and costly, in other
words they went global to find financial gain. Unlike, the Imperialism and the Keynesian phases
which were mainly to benefit from declining transport costs, gain access to new and foreign markets,
and to compensate for inadequate domestic demand (selling their product in a nation where the
demand for a certain product is higher than the demand in the origin country). Nike, a transnational
corporation located in Oregon; the leading supplier and developer of athletic shoes and apparel goods;
with $27.04 billion USD in sales revenue for 2014 (http://www.forbes.com/companies/nike/) in
contrast to Adidas, which has a sales revenue of $19.24 billion USD in
2014(http://www.forbes.com/companies/adidas/); experienced an explosive growth since the 1970s,

Our patients are our number one goal, so it is preferred if possible to do a face to face conversation.
That is if we can find any of the families, we are looking through all the medical records to see if there
are any out of date information that might help to lead us to the first person. Even basic
communication skills such as phone courtesy and message taking can have an important influence on
the organization s success. Communication skills affect the performance of every employee, not just
those in leadership roles Du Pre, A (2005). Everything is marketing from greeters to nurses (P. 58).
If communication is the problem, we will send out an email or text message making the face to face
encounter less of a burden on the family. However, when it is impossible for anyone to be here we will
make the notification over the telephone. This is not the ideal way for us, but if there is any question
about what is happening it will be perceived in the tone of the voice. This will help us to help them if
they have questions they are not sure about asking. And lastly we have skype, although surveys show
the traditional phone call makes a bigger impact of who we are speaking with.
Our last resort will be the printed newsletter, while it would be more cost effective to use the Internet
for online letters. There are still those that can t access the internet or if they did would not find our
letter. These letters could be spread throughout

  • 3. Summary Of A Book From The Sky By Xu Bing A book from the Sky (Tianshu) is an installation work by Xu Bing, first exhibited in 1988. It consists of three hanging scrolls vertically draping across the ceiling, hovering over columns and rows of books systematically arranged on the floor, surrounded by walls covered with similar scrolls. The books, which are all equally spilt open and spaced out, mimic a wave like motion, and the hanging scrolls in the ceiling appear to be delicately falling from the sky. At the front of the installation, a book with its front page opened signals the name of the artwork, followed by a couple other closed books, all over a short wooden block like table. Each hanging scroll and book is filled with several small Chinese characters, a contrasting black ink on white paper, that Xu Bing carefully printed using traditional Chinese wood blocking technique. To produce the columns of text, the artist hand carved over a thousand individual character on blocks of wood, then arranged them in a specific sequence before stamping them ink on paper. Since its first appearance, A book from the Sky has been displayed in several locations around the world, with slight variation on the arrangement of the elements (for instance, a forth hanging scroll may substitute the ones on the wall). It is arguably one of Xu Bing s most significant artworks, and it focuses on visually exploring the limitations of written language and the transformation of traditional practices to convey postmodern ideas. This period of Labour rule is often marked down as a poor performance on behalf of the labour party, critically looked upon by many historians. There were many failings under the rule of this government however the circumstances they were placed in caused severe restraints in their options. Wilson had been voted into government with the promise of central planning and the white heat of new technology , catching the mood of the moment, and making the public believe he was not just another old bumbling politician, but one who showed some promise in getting the country moving, and reinvigorating the lumbering economy. However, she does not possess this psychological abnormality. As portrayed in the film, Vada exhibits thoughts and behaviors that are not typical of an eleven year old girl. At first glance, she may seem mentally sick to the viewer. Upon further examination however, it is clear to see that is not the case. The odd behaviors modeled by this young child are actually a cry for attention, and there are many aspects of this film that lead to this conclusion. First, Vada seems to be suffering from Illness Anxiety Disorder because throughout the beginning of the movie, she is consumed with the notion that she absolutely has a biological illness. A person with Illness Anxiety Disorder is often convinced, or at least always worried, that she or he is showing symptoms of a significant illness. In actually, there is obviously nothing wrong with the individual, but the notion can cause distress in that person s life, or even impair her or him from living productively. Vada is a healthy young girl who has no logical reason to worry about disease. Still, she stays preoccupied with various somatic problems she feels can cause her to die if not treated immediately. Some of the illnesses she claims she has include hemorrhoids, prostate cancer, and breast cancer. Vada also believes she has had a chicken bone lodged in her throat for three years and that she was born jaundiced. Her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

COL Freeman employed the following principles of mission command during the battle of Chipyong ni: build cohesive teams through mutual trust, use of mission orders, exercise disciplined initiative, and accept prudent risk. He was an outstanding leader who knew the value of good communication with his unit. He led by example, and fostered a climate that allowed his subordinates to excel. The battle of Chipyong ni took place from 13 15 February 1951, in the small road hub and railway town of the same name1. The 8th Army Commander, General Ridgeway, determined that it was a key location to keep the Chinese from moving farther south to stabilize the UN front2. COL Paul Freeman, who would later become a four star general, commanded the 23rd Infantry Regiment3. The unit recently won the battle of Twin Tunnels several miles south. Freeman s mission was to deny the enemy the use of the road net and hold the area of Chipyong ni4. Over the course of three long nights the Soldiers of the 23rd infantry regiment held back an overwhelming Chinese force, estimates from after the battle believe that there were six Chinese Communist Force (CCF) Divisions5. • 18. Analyzing the Surprise Ending in Descartes Discourse on... Surprise Ending in Descartes In the book Discourses on the Method and the Meditations, author Rene Descartes famously questions the existence of humanity. His most famous quotation, the one for whom he is most remembered is I think therefore I am (Descartes 11). According to this idea, so long as a being has the ability to think then they existed. Animals have brains and therefore they must exist. In order to truly, exist, to be a thinking entity, a person or organism must utilize the ability granted to them by their mind. This is the focus of much of this text, the nature of existence and the line between what is true and what we only imagine or perceive to be true. For the majority of the text, the philosopher asks questions in trying to formulate his own identity and indeed whether or not he existed as all. It would be assumed that the end of the book would be a conclusion of this internal dialogue where Descartes definitively states his position on human existence. However, Descartes instead devotes the end of the text to a wholly new concept: namely he applies the question of existence to a being above humanity. At the end of the text, instead of continuing on with these questions Descartes instead discusses the idea of God and whether or not He exists. At the time of the Royal Society which Descartes was a member of, the researchers and philosophers were trying to understand everything about the world, something which actually is impossible to do. But in order to counter this situation like this if the person had of made a Photoshop copy then he would of seen that his app maybe doesn t look that visually appealing and that would also help looking at the overall feel of that application which will in turn help figure out any more errors in the application and areas to improve upon. This strategy of technology modelling will greatly reduce the risk of you getting stuck in any sticky situation therefore saving time and taking worry of your shoulders. Experiences of Technological Modelling for me I have also have gone through similar process during the Initial brief assessment and prototype development. During the initial brief assessment we had to go through the basic technological modelling process to come out with fully developed initial brief for an application or a website in this case my browser but during this ... The male heroism and its importance, overshadowed and minimalized the significance of women in the poem of Beowulf. The appearance of women is brief and limited however their roles are fundamental. Six women are introduced throughout the poem Wealhtheow and Hygd, Hildeburh and Freawaru, Thyrth and Grendel s mother, the women play various roles and reinforce the limits of female autonomy differently. The women can be categorized in to three separate groups, women as peaceweaver s, women as hostess and women as monsters. The second hostess woman in Beowulf is queen Hygd who also helps to ensure everyone is enjoying themselves however her part is much smaller in the poem, no order is described in which she carries the cup through the hall. Hygd is portrayed as young, gentle and kind, after her husband s death a lot of political power lays on her as she tries to pass on their kingdom to Beowulf as she deems her son too young. In doing this Hygd is taking over the role of her husband which is very important this helps show women in Beowulf have some political influence and control over decision making and giving orders yet this is only due to her husband s death which shows the reinforcement of limits of female autonomy. Lastly the two women in the poem that are portrayed as monsters are Thryth and Grendel s mother. These women are opposite to the hostess and the peaceweavers so they are deemed as monstrous, they comfortably use violence as a means to settle all their disputes, this brings them satisfaction. These women do not welcome people in to their homes and kill anyone that enters. In contrast to the hostess and peaceweavers these women do not believe in using words or marriage to influence people, instead they resort to violence, weapons and their physical strength. The two poems Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening and Acquainted with the Night written by Robert Frost are very similar to each other because of the simplistic form of language used and the uses of metaphors. When we first read the poem, it looks like an ordinary poem but once we go in depth and understand the meaning, it becomes so much more. Both of the poem has a very dark, gloomy and lonely setting with a really mysterious tone. I have walked out in rain and back in rain. from Acquainted with the Night shows the depression of the character because most of us relate to rain as an emotional moment and makes us feel vulnerable. When it rains, the whole atmosphere becomes very gloomy and sad, and the author is trying to express the characters sadness. The character in Stopping by Woods in a Snowy Evening is a very old fashioned person because he is with a horse and rides his horse through the woods. My little horse must think it queer. To stop without a farmhouse near Between the woods and frozen lake shows how even his horse is surprised to be stopping in the middle of the woods where there is no livelihood. It is very unusual even for the horse to stop at this hour of the night because they should be trying to get home as soon as possible since it is already dark. He gives his harness bells a shake. • 31. A Single Story Analysis When Adichie refers to a single story, she is describing that a person or group of people may be disillusioned due to their lack of exposure to other perspectives and ideas. For instance, Adichie states that when she read American and European storybooks as a child, all of the characters were of the white race and exemplified white characteristics, leading to an ignorant and close minded depiction of the world. Moreover, when Adichie began reading African literature, she found that people like me, girls with skin the color of chocolate, whose kinky hair could not form ponytails, could also exist in literature (Adichie 1:07). This illustrates that in both African and European literature, characterization is limited to the demographics known to the writers, the story is restricted based on one s viewpoint. Furthermore, the danger in simply reading or writing a single story is that over time, a person, or group of people, can become bias due to their lack of exposure to cultural and ethnical diversity. For example, Adichie describes that when she met the family of Fide, her houseboy, and saw that one of Fide s brothers had woven a beautiful basket she was taken aback because it had become impossible for me to see them as anything else but poor. Their poverty was my single story for them (Adichie 3:43). This seemingly minor misconception exposes Adichie to the dangers of following a single story , a reality check which changed her perception of the world. Furthermore, the ... Heparin is one of the most available drugs for anti coagulant activity and is the second most used naturally occurring drug after insulin (REF). It is a highly sulfated glycosaminoglycan made up of disaccharide units containing a hexuronic acid (α L iduronic acid or β D glucuronic acid) linked 1, 4 to α D glucosamine. The heparin molecules consist of a heterogeneous mixture of polymers with a similar backbone, which results from variations of sulfation on the uronic acid residue (O sulfated at C2) and on the D glucosamine (N acethylated, N sulfated, O sulfated at C6 and/or C3). Moreover, these marine sulphated polysaccharides have the potential of being more useful as clinical reagents due to their regular and well defined structures (Pomin Mourão, 2008). This attention is a consequence of the great interest in novel sulfated polysaccharides such as glycosaminoglycans (GAG). GAG are of particular interest to researchers looking for alternative and/or safer sources of heparin (Mourão Pereira, 1999). Cassaro et al. On top of the servers come the ordinary user processes, including shells, compilers, utilities, and application programs. With a small number of minor exceptions, the servers and drivers are normal user processes. To avoid any ambiguity, we note again that each server and driver runs as a separate user process with its own address space completely disjoint from the address spaces of the kernel and other servers, drivers, and user processes. In our design, processes do not share any virtual address space and can only communicate with each other using the IPC mechanisms that are provided by the kernel. This point is crucial to the reliability as it prevents faults in one server or driver from spreading to a different one, in exactly the same way that a bug in a compilation going on in one process cannot affect what a browser in a different process is doing.
