Stealth Aircraft On Bombing Missions
The advantages and disadvantages of using stealth aircraft on bombing missions are varied, from their
use in conflict to the risks and costs involved in operating such an aircraft. They are beneficial in
restricting the length and time of battles especially when capable of long missions, but at a substantial
cost to both the crew operating the craft and the US Air Force itself. This essay will explore the long
missions the F 117 and B 2 stealth aircraft are capable of, the costs involved in developing and
operating such aircraft, and their efficiency in battle.
An advantage of using stealth aircraft such as the F 117 Nighthawk and the B 2 Spirit stealth bomber
is the capability that these aircraft have to undertake long missions. The B 2 was first used in 1999 in
the Kosovo War, when six aircraft flew a non stop round journey from their Missouri base, a mission
taking 30 hours. The aircraft are highly automated, from their navigational systems to their weaponry
and attack systems. They navigate using GPS and highly accurate inertial guidance systems which
assist the autopilot functions. Bombing missions are automatically organised by a digital planning
system that can carry out all functions, including release of the weapons themselves. Laser guided
bombs are used such as a pair of GBU 10, GBU 12, or BLU 109 penetration bombs, or Joint Direct
Attack Munitions (JDAMs). Because of the high level of automation, and the decreasing cost and size
of electronic equipment, it is

Humanoid Robots
According to Heather Knight, back in the initiation of the industrial revolution, robotic machines
meant automation; a field that requested devices to perform and serve more efficiently than humans. In
these modern days, technology and innovation underscored a different design obligation: how robots
and people can work better together. But the problem that coincides is, humanoid robots are portraying
a more anthropoid appearance which makes it look too horrifying to humans: the sentiment whether or
not humanized robots would bond with human beings. In fact, a vague social design can stipulate
people not to construe or interact with machines. According to Uncanny Valley, a useful rubric
introduced by robotic designers explained that making a device that looks similar to humans is
substantial to an extent. That said, humanoid robots would retain prolonging in a discomfort zone until
technology achieves anthropoid likeness that emblems all, emotions and intelligence similar to
humans.Zombies, for example, portrayed the human descriptive. But people feel intimidated by them
even though they are unrealistic objects. Why? Because the behavior is not entirely human, and thus,
human perceived them differently, Knight said.Thereby, the interdisciplinary of the eunuchs in the
medieval Islamic empires serves to promote a coherent portrayal; displaying how the social
performance of the elite slaves had incorporated to envisage them, identically, by the view of the
freemen.Regardless of

Observation Of A Child Observation
Over the past few weeks I have observed a child in the twelve to eighteen month old category.
Throughout this paper I will refer to him as Z. I had five different observations, each for one hour at
the West Chester Area Day Care. I sat in classroom seven, in a little chair in the corner writing down
everything I observed about him. It was interesting to learn about Z as I watched him interact with the
adults and other kids that were in the room with him. Z caught my attention right away in the
classroom. He was very active, walking around while the other children were mainly sitting or only
crawling. This lead me to choose him to observe for this project, and focus on his physical movement
and interactions with others throughout this paper. Z was always moving around, the only time he was
ever sitting still was when he was placed in a height chair for snack time. He switched between
crawling and walking. Most of the time he would walk, but then he would fall down and continue to
wherever his destination was by crawling. I noticed one day he was holding a maraca and walked for a
longer period of time than usual. According to (page 183 infants children and adolescents), it is easier
for them to focus on their balance when they are holding onto an object. He demonstrated the ability t
squat down and picking something up, before returning to a standing position. The adults encouraged
his walking behaviors, so when the group came in from the outside playground, they would let him
walk in, while most of the other kids were being pushed in the giant stroller. The average age for most
kids to begin walking is 11 months and 3 weeks, the range being 9 to 17 months, so he his definitely
on track for his age group (182). He was also able to climb up onto things. For example, when the
children were brought on walks around the neighborhood there was a giant stroller that they rode in as
mentioned earlier. Z got up the step and turned himself around to sit down in the seat. He did the same
thing on some of the steps on the playground, crawling up one and turning himself around to sit.
Walking up stairs with help is achieved on average at 16 months, so he appears to be on the right track
towards that motor skill. A baby s

Ever Baked Holiday Cookies
Have you ever baked holiday cookies? Well, I have. I am going to tell you how to do it. Before you
begin, you need to gather your supplies. You will need the following: measuring cups, measuring
spoons, holiday themed cookie cutters, parchment paper, 1 rolling pin, 4 baking sheets, 2½ cups flour,
1 cup sugar, 1 egg, 1½ teaspoons vanilla extract, 1½ sticks butter, and ½ teaspoon salt. When you have
all of your supplies, you are ready to begin.
In a small bowl, mix together the flour and salt, then set it aside. Then, in a large bowl, beat the butter
on high speed with an electric mixer for two minutes. Next, change the speed to medium and slowly
add the sugar and beat for two more minutes. Stop mixing every 30 seconds and scrape down the sides
of the bowl. Then, mix the egg and the vanilla on low speed for one minute. Stop halfway through to
scrape down the sides of the bowl and continue mixing. Then, stop the mixer again and add half of the
flour mixture. Beat on low speed until most of the flour has been absorbed. Finally, add the rest of the
flour mixture and continue to mix everything until the dough starts to pull away from the sides of the
bowl for about 1 2 minutes.
Take the dough out of the bowl and put it on a floured counter top, then split the dough into two equal
balls. Shape each ball into a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Intelligence Sharing And The Capabilities Of The Homeland...
Intelligence Sharing and the Capability of the Homeland Security Enterprise What are the capabilities
and limitations of intelligence in supporting homeland security efforts? Since the deadly terror attacks
of 9/11, intelligence gathering for homeland security has improved immensely. One of the most
important developments in our law enforcement structure that has enhanced our intelligence is the
creation of fusion centers. Fusion centers are state and major urban area focal points for the receipt,
analysis, gathering, and sharing of threat related information between federal; state, local, tribal,
territorial (SLTT); and private sector partners (Department of Homeland Security, 2016). These fusion
centers are owned and operated by state and local entities and are supported by federal partners in its
many aspects which include personnel deployment, capacity building, and important and crucial
connectivity to federal systems (Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), 2012, para. 3). For example, the
DHS provides over 70 fusion centers access to the Homeland Secure Data Network or HSDN which
allows these fusion centers to receive federally generated classified threat information. By creating
fusion centers, intelligence gathering and analysis is not contained in the federal level governments
from the SLTT level as well as other entities relevant to this initiatives are involved. This then
devolves and shares homeland security roles to practically all law enforcers from all levels

The American Colonial Life During The Late 1700 S
Whether by land or by sea, eighteenth century colonial travel was arduous, expensive, and many times
dangerous. Because of this, few people traveled very far from their homes. Transportation has changed
dramatically since the late 1700 s. It was during this time that Colonial America was budding as a new
country. This was before airplanes, which appeared in the very early stages of the 1900 s. Cars showed
up about the same time, so rewind about 200 plus years and we re back in colonial America. It wasn t
civilized like it is today. The dirt roads were bumpy, grimy, and when the rains came, they were mud
baths. So how did people during this time get around? Often, they didn t. Not many people could
afford the cost of travel back then. Daily American Colonial Life was extremely harsh for the first
settlers and colonists. They were faced with a new country, unknown territory and no friends, relatives
or neighbors to help them In those days, it was fairly expensive to travel. Because of this, generally
only government officials, merchants, and planters took the risk (Constitution Facts). Women were
supposed to stay home and look after the children while the husband went off to do business. America
was still a budding country, so there were not as many cities as there are now and they were more
spread out. If the man wanted to travel, it would require several hours, or even several days to ride on
horseback. Often the husband wouldn t return for a couple of days, and when he

Ipsilateral Knee Injury Essay
1.1 Background
Concomitant knee injuries and knee pain associated with lower limb fractures often stay undetected,
or are inadequately addressed in fracture treatment plans, which then attributes to poor treatment
outcomes. [1,2,3] The treatment of choice for tibial shaft fractures is intramedullary (IM) nailing.[4]
After placing an IM nail during surgery, the ROM of the ipsilateral knee joint can be compromised
due to pain, undetected ligamental, meniscal injuries, or the positioning of the IM tibial nail itself.
[2,5,6,7] Although knee pain has been announced the most frequent complication of IM nailing, often
times these instabilities are overlooked during emergency surgical care and remain unaddressed in
post surgical management. [3,8] Long term follow up studies on anterior knee pain described
incidental rates between 10 and 83 percent among patients. [1,5,9,10] It has also been stated that the
high incidence of knee pain after IM nailing is of multifactorial origin.[1,8,11] ... Show more content

These mechanisms can lead to ligamentous injuries in the ipsilateral knee, such as impairment to the
cruciate ligaments or the lateral and medial collateral ligament. These injuries are very common in
cases of open and closed lower limp fractures. [2,3,6,9] Furthermore, the presence of a nail and/or its
protrusion thru the tibial plateau has been recognized as a significant cause of anterior knee pain.
[10,11,12]
We are investigating, whether concomitant ligamental knee injuries generally stay undetected upon
admission, or develop through surgical intervention and treatment plans. For that reason, we try to
correlate ligamentous integrity, range of motion and IM nail size to possible knee injuries and

Graduation Speech At Virginia Commonwealth University
As a member of Virginia Commonwealth University s (VCU) Leaders Engaging in Advance
Discoveries (LEAD), were are expected to complete eighty hours of service over the course of two
academic school years. Each semester VCU LEAD students are required to complete twenty hours of
service, ten community engagement hours and ten leadership hours. I believe that having a
requirement of participation hours pushes students to get involved on VCU s campus and the greater
Richmond area, introduces time management, as well as influences them to reflect on their new found
experiences. During this fall semester, I have had the privilege of volunteering with the local youth of
Richmond. In one encounter, I spent time creating a safe environment for kids to enjoy the Halloween
festivities. Throughout the Living Learning Program (LLP) week in October, I decided to volunteer
my services to the ASPiRE LLP. On October 28th, 2016 from three thirty till five thirty I participated
in the Halloween Party. Before all the children arrived from Caver Elementary, I helped other ASPiRE
students decorate the hallways with cobwebs, created obstacles courses for relay races, as well as
helped to hang festive banners and signs. Once the kids came to the West Grace South Residence
Center, I spent most of my time at the face painting station. Since most of the students came straight
from school, a lot of them did not have Halloween costumes. I really enjoyed making the kids into

The Pillars Of Salt
In Pillars of Salt , a compilation of... true crime miscellanies (Cotton Mather, 3), the author refers to a
man s heinous actions as being ungodly (Pillars of Salt, 6). In current times such actions would
quickly be called immoral and this is an idea that has reverberated throughout the text. This can be
analyzed to convey the significance of how god in relation to morality was an idea that was deeply
intertwined at that time and locale. Furthermore, submitting to god as one s savior was considered an
accepted form of repenting even if this did not occur until an individual s final moments (Pillars of
Salt, 8). In Pillars of Salt, a tale is told of a young woman who kills her own child as she had
conceived and birthed it out of wedlock (Pillars of Salt, 4 5). The theme of god and morality play a
strong factor suggesting that it was due to this that she was led to murder her own infant. Community
members attempted to contact her in jail with the hope of having her declare Jesus as her savior so that
all would be forgiven (Pillar of Salt, 5). In this period, which was set in colonial times, the belief of

From a Single Cafe to Starbucks of Today Essay
The first Starbucks location opened in 1971 with the original location in Seattle Washington, the heart

products, the company grew to be the largest roaster in Washington with multiple locations until the
early 1980 s. CEO Howard Schultz, recognized a great opportunity and began working with the
founder Jerry Baldwin. After a trip to Italy to find new products, Schultz realized an opportunity to
bring the café community environment he found in Italy to the United States and the Starbuck s brand

To formulate a differentiated business level strategy Starbucks must evaluate their customer needs,
customer groups, and their unique competencies. This will be the way that Starbucks differentiates
themselves from other firms competing in the coffee and specialty products industry. Starbucks has
effectively differentiated themselves from their competitors in a manner that establishes brand loyalty
and satisfies customers. This level of differentiation would not be possible without working together
to achieve a common goal: offering customers a premium product while striving to obtain a profit.
Using the five forces model of competition Starbucks provides quality coffee with a unique
experience, which separates them from their competition. The new single cup brewing coffee line is
spanning differentiation and low cost leadership. While it is at a lower cost than a normal cup of
Starbuck coffee and convenient for home coffee users, it is still unique from other products in the
market. The gifts that are sold in the Starbuck chains are in the focused differentiation category as they
accommodate the coffee lover, and are unique items found only in the Starbucks stores.
The specialty industry consists of chain restaurants that offer primarily specialty or gourmet products.

great in the process. Moreover keeping them informed about upcoming events within the organization

opportunities for different roles within the company for employees who show interest in furthering
with the company on higher levels than what they are currently on. A great way to foster motivation
among employees is to give them something to focus on. If an upcoming sale is set to start running on
a certain date, for example, they should be notified in advance. Keeping employees regularly informed

This Boy s Life Analysis
In the memoir This Boy s Life the readers are introduced to Jack, a troubled boy who struggles
through his adolescence. Jack s boyhood was plagued with a divorce, moving, hostile environments,
and unknown identity. To create a foundation, and image for himself Jack began to create a new life,
in his mind. This concept was shown throughout the whole memoir. For example, in this quotation,
And on the boy who lived in their letters, the splendid phantom who carried all my hopes, it seemed to
me I saw, at last , my own face. (214). Imagination was Jack main source of escape from what he truly
was. Jack pictured himself as one of the elite, a football star, and 4.0 student. While in reality he was

In our culture today we are taught to be yourself, and never lie. Which is why I surprised and intrigued
by this quote, and everything that related to it. I wanted to understand Jack s life, because I have never

memoir as a whole. Imagination brought Jack into a wonderful life, yet it was fake. This allowing him
to think more highly of himself to get past Dwight s and other people s outlooks on him. However,
Jack s life never turley became better. He went to the Hill school but got expelled, and Dwight s anger
never left Jack, and clouded the little bit of happiness that Jack had gained in Chinook. All of this
shows that imagination never truly makes things better, but provides an allusion. Through Jack it was
learned that only working hard, and keeping out of trouble brings honest good fortune. Which was
expressed throughout the memoir to allow the readers to see the good and bad that came from Jack s
life. Overall, the quotation helped me understand Jack s use of imagination, and even the true meaning
of the memoir as a

How Technology Has Changed Our New Set Of Skills And...
Security is one of the major challenges that is being faced by the world today, as seen by continuous
revelations about breaches and incidents. On this note of insecurity and unpredictability, banking
industry is keen to redefine its approach to security thereby making an attempt to balance three critical
factors i.e. cost, innovation and risk. On parallel grounds, the domain of internal security is
undergoing drastic changes that mandates banking institutions to embrace new set of skills and
practices. Fraud can be categorized as a business risk it is like a sword of Damocles over a bank s

At the same time, developers can make this process arduous with enhanced security layers thereby
increasing the response time to such incidents by the organizations as well as it improvises the ability
to intercept such intrusions before their impact proves to be substantive. Security should be one of the
most elementary fiber of any organization, both in behavior providing people secure alternatives as
well as in technology incorporating security as part of the design process. Deploying the factor of
awareness or fear as a defense tool is an obsolete practice. Our approach should be to make security as
the strength of organizational link.
As the fraud universe in banking institutions is very susceptible and expansive, the banking activities
require full compliance of the standards and best practices in risk management and internal controls.
Full compliance to Bank s requirements in terms of fraud risk management is vital in ensuring fraud
risk in the banking institutions is minimized. It calls for strategized efforts from all levels of staff,
which include those of front liners and senior management levels. Fraud occurs due to loopholes in the
controls of banking activities, hence, concerted efforts to address the weaknesses in the internal

has an initial term of 5 years but by paying a nominal fee, Palmiero can renew the license indefinitely

1 . Alatorre should report the patent at $600,000 (net of $400,000 accumulated amortization) on the
balance sheet. The computation of accumulated amortization is as follows.
Amortization for 2005 and 2006 ($1,000,000/10) X 2 $200,000
2007 amortization: ($1,000,000 $200,000) ÷ (6 2) 200,000
Accumulated amortization, 12/31/07 $400,000
2. Alatorre should amortize the franchise over its estimated useful life.
Because it is uncertain that Alatorre will be able to retain the franchise at the end of 2015, it should be
amortized over 10 years. The amount of amortization on the franchise for the year ended December
31, 2007, is
$40,000: ($400,000/10).
3. These costs should be expensed as incurred. Therefore $275,000 of organization expense is reported
in income for 2007.
4. Because the license can be easily renewed (at nominal cost), it has an indefinite life. Thus, no
amortization will be recorded. The license will be tested for impairment in future periods.

GSM Subscriber Services
There are two basic types of services offered through GSM: telephony (also referred to as tele

that provide subscribers with the complete capability (including necessary terminal equipment) to
communicate with other subscribers. Data services provide the capacity necessary to transmit
appropriate data signals between two access points creating an interface to the network. In addition to
normal telephony and emergency calling, the following subscriber services are supported by GSM:
* Dual tone multi frequency (DTMF) DTMF is a tone signaling scheme often used for various control
purposes via the telephone network, such as remote control of an answering machine. GSM supports
full originating DTMF.
* Facsimile group III GSM supports CCITT Group 3 facsimile. As standard fax machines are
designed to be connected to a telephone using analog signals, a special fax converter connected to the
exchange is used in the GSM system. This enables a GSM connected fax to communicate with any
analog fax in the network.

How Did Marilyn Monroe Effect On Society
Marilyn Monroe was an American actress, model and singer who became a sex symbol and rose to
prominence in the time period of 1946 1962. Monroe rose to prominence for her role in movies, her

without Monroe`s affair with John Fitzgerald Kennedy (JFK) she would not have been so prominent

was so widely known and reported on.

tracking their every move. This can be seen in `The daily mail`s` article about the madness of Marilyn
Monroe, in which Philip Watson states, there was no question in my mind that Marilyn and the
president were together. Monroe was invited to a dinner party which was held to honor the President.
In `The Daily Mail`s` article, Arlene Dahl who was present at the party said, the President turned
around and you could see that he was immediately attracted to her. This proves that there was
something going on between the pair. The pair appeared in magazines which often talked about
rumors of an affair between them. This helped her rise to prominence because it put her name out
there and people were curious to find out the truth which meant she was commonly talked

Manifesto Of Surrealism
What is surrealism? Surrealism is a revolution, pure psychic automatism, an attack of conscience, and
a new mode of pure expression according to its founder André Breton. In his highly controversial
texts, Manifestoes of Surrealism, Breton exposes us to this new term he coined along with his
colleague Philippe Soupault in homage to Guillaume Apollinaire, someone whom they believed had
followed the discipline, and he explains the phenomenon in detail so that more can become aware and
utilize the technique. Drawing heavy influences from Sigmund Freud and Karl Marx, Breton reveals
to us the limitless opportunities of surrealism and how it frees us from everyday reality, similar to how
the exoteric texts challenged us to question our beliefs. I The first Manifesto of Surrealism was
published in 1924 succeeding dadaism, an art movement of the European avant garde often regarded
as the movement that brought forth postmodern art. At the time of its publication, Europe was still
reeling from World War I and art was very much political. Breton and other surrealists wanted to break
free from the conventional art if the times and express the imagination as revealed in dreams. Thus,
the Manifesto of Surrealism came about in which Breton discussed the importance of merging dream
and reality. In Breton s view, one can learn to ascend to perception of a higher reality (the surreal), or
more reality, if one can manage to liberate one s psyche from traditional education, the

Cirrhotic Essay
Abstract P.P.I therapy is often used in patients with cirrhosis, sometimes, in the absence of a specific
indication (e.g.: acid related diseases), there are conflicting reports for their use in cirrhotic patients.
The dosage of most PPIs should be reduced in cirrhotic as they are metabolized by the liver and
associated with adverse effects of prolonged use. We aimed to review strict indications and adverse
effects for their use in this group of patients. Keywords Proton pump inhibitors, liver cirrhosis, peptic
ulcer, H. pylori, esophageal band ligation. Abbreviations P.P.I: proton pump inhibitors. EVS:
esophageal variceal Sclerotherapy. EVL: esophageal variceal ligation. HE: hepatic encephalopathy.

A short course for 10 days post EVL may be reasonable if we concern for ulcer healing. However,
high dose infusion (e.g., pantoprazole 8 mg/h) and prolonged use in the absence of endoscopic
procedures is not supported by the literature and should be discouraged until evidence of benefit
becomes available. (8) GERD Functional studies showed decreased LES function with a low
amplitude of acid clearance and primary esophageal peristalsis in cirrhotics with large varices [9].
These phenomena could also be due to a mechanical effect of the varices. Cirrhotic patients without
EV have also esophageal motor disorders and mixed acid and bile reflux as the main pattern whereas
the cirrhosis itself was an important causative factor. It is unclear whether this might contribute to
bleeding from varices [8]. Data on management of GERD in cirrhosis are few, however, the
indications of use for PPIs may remain exactly the same also in patient with cirrhosis of the liver as
general population for the treatment of erosive esophagitis or in general the pathology secondary to
gastroesophageal reflux acid (10) Peptic ulcer and H. pylori infection Prevalence of duodenal and
gastric ulcers in patients with liver cirrhosis increases as the disease progress[11] and this prevalence
becomes higher in decompensated cirrhosis than in compensated cirrhosis [12]. Currently, PPIs are the
mainstay treatment option of peptic ulcers in the

Healthcare Leadership Skills
Managers in healthcare are important leaders. All employees underneath the managers look to them
for guidance. Managers lead very busy careers full of responsibility. There are also many benefits to
working as a manager, however; it is important to have specific qualities to be successful. A good
health care manager has the knowledge, skills, and desire to be successful. The knowledge of staffing,
organizing, and planning will provide the expertise to keep a productive workforce in order
((Buchbinder Thompson, 2010, pg. 20). The skills of interpersonal, technical, and decision making
provide the manager with the necessary competencies to lead (Buchbinder Thompson, 2010, pg 21).

Personality As Predictor, Personality, And General Knowledge
Personality as Predictor
According to Kluemper, Bing, and McLarty (2014), a person s reputation is based on their past
experiences. Also, managers use a person s past performance to predict the person s future
performance. This essay provides a definition of a measure and discusses how leaders measure the
personality trait of employees to explain their job performance. Also, how managers use
organizational past performance to predict future performance. Also, the paper describes how leaders
use employees personality trait to predict future job performance. Next, the paper explains how using
G and personality for predicting performances. Last, the essay discusses how the finding from an
employee s personality trait and general knowledge is used to make hiring decisions.
Measurement of Performance
A measure is a standard that leaders use as an indicator to test the consistency and stability of a worker
under constant and stressful conditions (Eisend Stokburger Sauer, 2013). The success of an
organization is contingent upon the employees performances. In Hassan, Akhtar, and Yilmaz (2016)
article on measuring the personality trait of workers, they discovered that employees with the
conscientiousness trait outperform their counterparts in overall job performance. Hassan et al. (2016)
described conscientiousness as one that is orderly, neat, prompt, meticulous, and organized. Hassan
and cohorts noted that workers with conscientiousness are high achievers that excel in academics

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Trinitrotoluene
TNT is more accurately known as Trinitrotoluene (more specifically 2,4,6 trinitrotoluene), a Class A
explosive. Its molecular formula is C7H5N3O6 OR C6H2(CH3)(NO2)3 OR C6H2(NO2)3CH3. This
compound includes the elements Carbon, Hydrogen, Nitrogen, and Oxygen, notably 37.0% Carbon,
2.2% Hydrogen, 18.5% Nitrogen, and 42.3% Oxygen. It is an explosive chemical (a combustible
solid) with toxic and hazardous effects. Commonly experienced symptoms due to exposure mainly
include headaches, weakness, anemia, liver injury, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dermatitis, cyanosis,
toxic hepatitis, etc. It s an incredibly hazardous explosive, considering it is absorbed by the skin, its
vapors are toxic, toxic fumes are released when decomposed due to high temperatures, and it
detonates under excessive shock or heat. Physically, TNT is a colorless or pale yellow and odorless
solid or crushed flake, and it is synthetic (does not occur naturally on Earth). It has a molecular weight
of 227.132 g/mol, hydrogen donor count of 0, hydrogen acceptor count of 6, relatable bond count of 0,
complexity of 292, topological polar surface of 138 A^2, mass of 227.018 g/mol, heavy atom count of

Montag s Influences in Farenheit 451 Essay
In the novel, FAHRENHEIT 451 by Ray Bradbury, Guy Montag lives in an inverted society, where
firemen make fires instead of put them out, and pedestrians are used as bowling pins for cars that are
excessively speeding. The people on this society are hypnotized by giant wall size televisions and
seashell radios that are attached to everyone s ears. People in Montag s society do not think for
themselves or even generate their own opinions; everything is given to them by the television stations
they watch. In this society, if someone is in possession of a book, their books are burned by the
firemen, but not only their books, but their entire home. Montag begins realizing that the things in this
society are not right. Montag is influenced and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The psychiatrist wants to know why I go out and hike around in the forests and watch the birds and

society, and she must see a psychiatrist because she admires nature. Clarisse influences Montag by
admiring nature, because Montag is now starting to realize the beauty of nature, and beginning to
develop his own opinion. Clarisse strongly influenced Montag after her death. We cannot tell the
precise moment when friendship is formed. As in filling a vessel drop by drop, that is a last drop
which makes it run over; so in a series of kindness there is at last one which makes the heart run over
(Bradbury, 71) This quotation shows that Montag is starting to have feelings unlike the rest of society.
Clarisse has come to influence Montag through her questions, her admiration of nature and her death.
Clarisse influenced Montag enough to get him to begin having feelings. Although Clarisse influenced
Montag to begin feeling emotions, the fire on Elm Street was a big influence for Montag. Secondly,
the fire at 11 Elm Street greatly influenced Montag. The fire showed Montag how important books
are. The fire also makes Montag curious about why books would be so important that the lady would

Minds, Brains, and Science by John R. Searle
Functionalism remains, to this day, one of the most influential theories of the mind. While many facets
of functionalism has been tested throughout the century, one of the more interesting questions came in
the form of computers. Similarly to a human brain, could computers also think? This idea was
explored by John R. Searle, in his book titled, Minds, Brains, and Science. The author is a renowned
American philosopher, particularly in the philosophy of language and mind, and is currently teaching
at the University of California, in Berkeley ( John R. Searle, 2014). Searle earned his Ph.D. in
philosophy at Oxford, and has made several contributions to his field on topics, such as consciousness,
artificial intelligence, and the problem of free will ( John R. Searle, 2014). His Chinese Room
experiment is known as one of the main critiques to the concept of artificial intelligence. In Searle s
book, Searle describes his thought process into this experiment during the second chapter, titled Can
Computers Think? Searle s purpose of this chapter in the book is to explain his perspective on the idea
that digital computers will never develop the capability to form thought processes, and that a concept
such as artificial intelligence could never exist, because our mental states exist in a biological manner.
He utilizes his Chinese Room argument to aid in the development of his objectives.
Before Searle goes into any detail about the purpose of this passage, he introduces the

Positioning relates to strategy, in the specific or tactical development phases of carrying out an
objective to achieve a business or organization s goals, such as increasing sales volume, brand

customers. PepsiCo tried to position its product for the society as a whole and for the purpose of
refreshment. Pepsi positions itself on points of difference as well as points of parity. Pepsi s POD is
their forward thinking attitude. Many different methods are presented to customers on basis of which
people relate to any of their product whenever someone thinks of soft drinks. Pepsi s Brand

Role Of Female Nature In Frankenstein
In the novel Frankenstein, the author Mary Shelley reinforced the role of female nature in a book that
is predominantly male oriented. The female character is an underlying feature throughout the whole
novel. For example, when Victor Frankenstein created his Monster from dead body parts, he
disregarded the laws of female reproduction. Both Anne K. Mellor and Jonathon Bate argue that
Victor defiled the feminine nature when he created his Monster from unnatural means. Mellor argued
in her essay, Possessing Nature: The Female in Frankenstein, that Victor eliminated the necessity to
have females at all (355). There will not be a need for females if new beings are created in a
laboratory. The disruption of mother nature is one of the novel s original sins (479). In Bate s essay,
Frankenstein and the State of Nature, he argued that Victor Frankenstein broke the balance between
female principles of maternity and mother nature (477). Frankenstein broke nature and undermined
the role of females. The argument of Mellor was more persuasive than the discussion of Bate because
she was able to provide more evidence that Victor Frankenstein dishonored the role of female nature.
In Mary Shelley s novel, nature plays a vital role in the development of the plot. Nature is considered
a female part because Mother Nature is the collective personification of life. Nature is life bearing and
nurturing, as females are to their offspring. In spite of nature being feminine, Victor

Project Report On Green Water Management
The traditional water resources management mainly refers to the management of the blue water, but
the green water that closely related to food security is ignored (Li Yin 2014). Green water
management was first put forward by the ISRIC World Soil Information etc., which designed to
improve water production efficiency by green water management measures to achieve the purpose of
eliminating the flood and drought disasters (Li Yin 2014). Green water management measures
including stone line, mulching, forest management, contour tillage, bench terraces and etc. (Li Yin

In contrast, water resources planners have often trivialized green water management in rain fed
agriculture (Liu, Zehnder, Yang 2009). Green water management often comes in the form of effective
use of rainfall (Liu, Zehnder, Yang 2009). Green Water management has great conservation potential.
For example, according to Liu, Zehnder, Yang (209), strengthening rainfall management could
possibly double or even quadruple maize yields in sub Saharan Africa. Rainwater harvesting is a
promising approach for green water management in the semiarid tropics of Asia and Africa (Liu,
Zehnder, Yang 2009). Experiments with rainwater harvesting increased yield by a factor of 2 to 3 in
Burkina Faso, Kenya, Niger, Sudan and Tanzania as compared to the current yield levels (Liu,
Zehnder, Yang 2009). Additional spending in many of the rain fed areas allowed more poor people to
rise above the poverty line than would be expected with investments in irrigation infrastructure (Liu,
Zehnder, Yang 2009). Green water management is not only limited to infrastructure and management
technologies, as biotechnological advances can also be helpful (Liu, Zehnder, Yang 2009). For
example, a hybrid New Rice for Africa, which was developed to grow in the uplands of West Africa,
produces more than 50% more grain than current varieties when cultivated in traditional

The Negative Effects Of Social Anxiety
How Social Anxiety Disorder Affects people in everyday life
Human beings are one of the most social creatures on the face of the planet. We depend on each other
for positivity, support, and, believe it or not, mental health. Being around others, especially those we
share a healthy relationship with, can lower stress and anxiety. So, why is it that when some people
interact with others it is the complete opposite? Sometimes, it is just a person being shy, or around
people they don t know. Other times, it is complete fear and panic when dealing with others ( What is
Social Anxiety? , Thomas A. Richards).Situations that cause the person to get lightheaded or panic in
social events to where they want to flee and stay in isolation, rather than to have social interactions.
This is known as Social Anxiety. Social anxiety is often referred to as Social Anxiety Disorder, or
SAD, and was originally it was just known as social phobia . Social anxiety is a psychological
problem that causes a fear of interactions with other people. It is the third common disorder amongst
the United States and has known to afflict people as young as the age of 13(Understanding the Facts,
ADAA). Though seemingly harmless, it can have disastrous effects on the mind, along with personal
and professional relationships, and getting through life general. It can cause issues with personal and
societal acceptance. It can also devastate self confidence and create depression. However, despite all

Becoming An Integral Part Of The Medical Technician
Ne razumijem! the first words I heard a 62 year old male patient shout in agonizing pain as he lay on a
bed in the crowded and busy Emergency Room of St. Francis Hospital in Chicago. Recognizing it to
be of my native Bosnian/Serbo Croatian language meaning I do not understand, I entered the room as
an emergency medical technician (EMT) on my first shift to translate. Becoming an integral part of
the medical team with this responsibility, I introduced myself and began talking with the Croatian
patient. Noticing tears in his eyes, I learned they were in part due to the pain, but also from fear that he
was going to die alone without anyone understanding his last words. Holding his hand in emotional
and physical support, I felt myself becoming a part of his life as he expressed his gratitude for being
with him since he had lost his immediate family during the war in Bosnia and Croatia. With a sense of
understanding, comfort, and trust developing, I continued to hold his hand and progressed through the
medical assessment.
Communicating his multiple symptoms to the physician, one specific description stood out to me: a
painful, ripping sensation in his lower back and abdomen. Recalling my training and medical
literature, this unique description and his medical history seemed consistent with a life threatening
abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA). Translating and expressing my concern to the physician, I watched
as he palpated the patient s abdomen and agreed with a possible AAA.

How Do We Dependent On Technology
As I said in my previous essay, not many people realize it, but the human race desperately depends on
technology for existence. Although depending on things such as computers, cellular devices, and
search engines comes with very helpful and developmental research, it has also come with many
negative effects. Technology has literally affected all aspects of life for every living person. To the
point where it has made people lazy, taken their jobs, and has even made people addicted to social
networking. Some examples of problems are constant use of social media, texting and driving
incidents, cyberbullying, and even cheating on tests or exams. I believe that we ve become evermore
negatively dependent on technology because humans now feel the need to socialize and connect with
one another more frequently than they did before the turn of the 21st century. I strongly believe that all
the problems that I listed a bove do have a solution to them. Focusing on the technology that is used
most commonly, which are laptops, computers, and cell phones, I would like to specifically write
about the topic of using a cellular device while driving, and cyberbullying. The reason why I decided
to use the term using a cellular device while driving is because nowadays people not only text and
drive, but they also use social platforms such as instagram, snapchat, and even facebook. The increase
in social media use also increases the rate of bullying that is done online. These two are the major
causes of feeling the need to connect with one another. The constant texting and the boost of social
media use.
There are many ways that distracted driving can affect you. In the article How Far Does Your Vehicle
Travel While Looking at Your Cell Phone, author Tony Summerville states that, Sending or reading a
text takes your eyes off the road for 5 seconds. AT 55 mph, that s like driving the length of an entire
football field, blindfolded. A lot can happen in those hundred yards that a person travels while they re
distracted. The worst thing that could ever happen in the event of a car accident due to distracted
driving would have to be death, or even a severe injury. If a person is lucky multitask without making
mistake while

This shows how Taft might not have been all that successful in attending the economic problems, but
at the same time shows how he may have been passive with the trust busting with the intention of
future stability of the American economy. Taft showed more of his successful and unsuccessfulness
with the passing of the Payne Aldrich Tariff Act. The tariff was passed by Congress in 1909, and it
was the first change in tariff laws since the Dingley Act of 1897. The issue had been blatantly ignored
by Roosevelt during his terms and the Republicans wanted to revise the tariff downward. To do this
Taft called Congress to a special session, and the bill was promptly passed, reducing rates. The senate
substituted a bill which reduced the number of downward revisions and increased many others. This
angered many and so a compromise bill was adopted which moderated the high rates that Aldrich had
pushed for. Overall the tariff lowered 650 items, raised 220, and left 1150 unchanged. Although it was
a push economic change, it was a largely protectionist move from Taft, showing that he had not much
determination in fixing economic problems. But at the same time it shows that tariffs were needed to

It was not the outwardly influences but the racism within the community that has been a powerful

The first chapter opens the doorway to Pearl and May s acquired taste and lives over a conversation
during dinner with their parents. However, the atmosphere is quite cringe worthy, as their father
criticizes Pearl for her failing beauty and personality. In her opinion, she is beautiful but for her

She faced criticism of being taller I m taller than my father, which he loathes. We live in Shanghai,
where the tallest car, the tallest wall, or the tallest building sends a clear and unwavering message that
the owner is a person of great importance. I am not a person of importance also people called her
bookish, because in 1937 it was not considered a good thing . So, we see how Pearl faced criticism for
being educated and carefree about herself. It was a fact, that traditional Chinese were more bounded
and restricted than the modern girls of Shanghai. So the friction between the old and new is prominent

Effects of Cartoon on Children
Effects of cartoons on children
INtroDucTioN:Cartoons have been a staple of childhood development since the early 20th century.
Two thirds of infants and toddlers watch an average of two hours of television a day, according to a
recent study. While watching cartoons, a child s brain processes graphic images, educational
information and violent acts. These brain stimulating factors have both positive and negative effects
on children s development. Cartoons are the most frequent and easily accessible source of
entertainment which we provide to our children. With the vastness of media and extension of
channels, it has become easier for children to watch their favorite cartoons on a single click and at the
same time it has become more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Regardless of the effects, children must have a balanced lifestyle that includes exercise and outdoor
activity.
Violence
* Many cartoons depict scenes of violence or danger, yet whitewash the effects of that violence. For
instance, a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle may beat up a bad guy in one scene, only to see that bad guy
appear unharmed in the next scene. Without proper lessons to counterbalance those effects, children
may grow up aggressive and eager to engage in violence unaware that the real world contains far more
consequences than what a TV show depicts.
Injury
In 2004, Dr. Ruebert Saturnine III presented an argument on the negative effects of cartoons on
children for the Animation World Network, Inc. One of Saturnine s criticisms focused on copycat
incidents where children injured themselves by trying to imitate fictional characters. The first case of a
cartoon related lawsuit occurred in 1928, when a small boy, Dickie Johnson, took his family s yacht
out on a lake as he tried to replicate a cartoon sea captain. Dickie crashed the boat and his family filed
a case against Walt Disney on charges of corrupting a minor. During the trial, Dickie testified and
stated, I thought if a lowly, common mouse could drive a boat, surely I could, too. Saturnine stated
that cases of cartoon related injuries increased steadily each year

American Youth in the 1960s
America has in a short time been established as a nation that symbolizes acceptance and change. It has
progressed into a country of equality that finds its foundation in its personal freedoms and the
progressive movement of technology, politics, economics, social views, ethics and so forth since the
American Revolution. It has been changing rapidly since the influx of immigrants that came here
before the Revolution. The 1950s were a happy time. I Love Lucy and Leave It To Beaver were on
television. The Everly Brothers, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry and Elvis Presley were popular acts in
music. The youth movement of the 1960s was necessary in order for America to progress in social,
political, economic, and technological ways that could further America from the 1950s into a new era
of personal identity and freedom of expression. It was a time of fathers going to work, mothers staying
home and tending to the housework, and kids hanging out in the suburban neighborhoods. The 1950s
were the end of World War II which brought back many young serviceman to the states to start
families and get jobs. This inflow of young and eager men put a lot of money into industry and goods
not available during the war. This created a boom in the economy. Suburbs started to pop up
everywhere because all these young men and their families needed housing. Levitt Co. was the reason
for this. They built preplanned communities that contained cheap and affordable houses. Most looked

Google Adwords Remarketing Strategy
Tips To Optimize Your Google Adwords Remarketing Campaign
When used properly, remarketing can be an incredibly powerful tool for large websites and small
businesses alike that want to take their online advertising to the next level. Since it s launch back in
2010, people from all over the world have been using the Google Adwords remarketing platform to
retarget their market and see massive increases in their return on investment (ROI). In this post, we ve
put together some of the best practices and tips for using the Adwords remarketing tool that you can
begin implementing right now!

Remember to set your member duration and frequency capping. This dictates how long a cookie is
stored in a users computer and how frequent a user sees your ads, respectively. If you bombard your
target audience too much, you run the risk of annoying them to the point of disliking your brand or
product. Consider your business type and goals when choosing these settings.
Optimize Your Remarketing Campaign
Now that you ve chosen your audiences and everything is in motion, it s time to implement some
powerful tips to optimize your campaign!
Use remarketing to upsell or cross sell. Remarketing isn t just for non converters! Targeting users who
have already made a purchase or opted in to your site creates a great upselling opportunity. Direct ads
towards them featuring add ons to their purchase.
Implement YouTube into your remarketing strategy. Many people turn a blind eye to video marketing,
as they don t have the tools or resources to create quality video content. If you are worried about
content creation, check out a freelancing website such as Wooshii or Upwork to find someone within
your budget who can make a stunning video ad for you. Once you have your video ready, you can set
it up easily through Adwords to have it shown in front of YouTube videos. The best part is, if the user
skips the advert within 30 seconds you don t have to pay for the impression!

Facts About Honey Bees
Honeybees
Over the course of a thousand millennia, one species has worked tirelessly to ensure its own survival.
The Honey Bee is the successful eon traveling animal that inhabits the majority of earths land. The
honey bee is in no way, shape, or form related to it s other stinging counter parts wasp and hornets.
The honey bee is also responsible for the majority of the food on the planet. 80% of the planets plant
pollination is done by honey bees. After my presentation the audience will be able to differentiate
between a drone, worker, and queen bee.
A common myth about Honeybees is that all bees sting. Point in fact is, only the workers and queen
can sting, these two bees are the only females present in a hive. The only purpose of a drone

The Library Field At A Young Age
Introduction I became interested in the library field at a young age. Through school library programs
and trips to the public library with my family I developed an appreciation for the library as a place and
for the talented men and women who staffed the library. This appreciation continued through my time
at Southern Connecticut State University, where I earned my BS in information and library science in
the winter of 2011. It was in through the university s library, Hilton C. Buley library, that I revived my
first professional experience in the field of library science. I worked for three years at Buley as a
student worker in the access services department. During these three years I felt an immense sense of
fulfillment in my work which propelled me to further my education in the field and enroll at San Jose
State University. After graduating from Southern Connecticut State University, I worked for a brief
time at West Haven Public Library in West Haven, Connecticut as a part time library assistant. I found
the transformation from an academic library to public library broadened my thoughts and opinions
concerning library policies and patron interaction. Nonetheless, I found work at public libraries just as
fulfilling as my work at Buley. In the fall of 2012 I was offered a full time position at Hilton C. Buley
library as a library technical assistant and evening supervisor for access services. Due to limited
funding and budget cuts my position has been revised within

Explain The Three Parts Of The Coping Brain
What are the three parts of the coping brain?
The three parts of the coping brain are thinking, emotional, and reptilian. The thinking part of the
coping brain, also known as neocortex, is the part that has the ability to use language and learn. The
thinking brain makes it possible for organize and planning. The thinking brain also decides the way
we behave. It is also in charge of our emotional experiences, which means it figures out why we are
hurt or sad. The emotional experiences are called feelings. The reptilian part of the coping brain is the
oldest part of the brain. It is shared by all reptiles and mammals including humans. Since it is the most
powerful and oldest part of our brain, without it, we would not be alive. The third part of the coping
brain is the emotional part. It is also known ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Loss is the most common fear that reptilian and emotional coping brains detect. The greatest sense of
emotional pain we experience is our fear and sadness after losing those who we have loved the most in
our life. From birth we are programmed to fear being abandoned and left alone to die. Rejection is
when the brain notices someone we want to be friends with rejects us. Rejection triggers both reptilian
and emotional coping responses. Rejection is one of the most common everyday reasons for becoming
upset. Betrayal is when the bond we have with someone we trust breaks. One other form of betrayal is
when someone promises us something and fails to keep that promise. Whenever a good relationship
gets ruined by betrayal it takes time to heal the wounds of the relationship. As far as people know
humans are the only ones that can be humiliated, animals can not be humiliated. To a human,
humiliation is deep because it messes with a human s self respect. Whenever you are in front of a big
group[ of people and they laugh at you, you sense an even greater

Theme Of A Grain Of Wheat
Thus, Ngugi resort to use mythological figures in order unite and liberate the Kenyans, also he uses
such figures to fossilize the Mau Mau in Kenyan s mind and to feel proud of their revolution. Neatly,
Ngugi enlists and compares Mau Mau members to Prometheus (who defied to steal the fire from other
gods to pave the liberation s way). No wonder Ngugi considers Mau Mau fighters as symbols of
resistance because they suffered for getting freedom and liberation. (Ngugi. Detained1981: 111)
The myth is directly linked to the Kikuyu legend of Gikuyu and Mumbi, the founding ancestors of the

Research Paper On Infant Baptism
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as
a prophet to the nations. (Jeremiah 1:5) I ran across a post on social media the other day that asked for
your greatest church fail. Not in the vein of what have you done to close a church, or what did you do
that turned out to be a bad ministry. These were humorous posts. te times we did something in church
we wished we hadn t. One of my favorites involved a young lady who high fived a man who had lifted
his hand as she walked by. Not realizing he was in a moment of praise lifting his hands to the Lord.

Before I go on, please know I am only speaking from my tradition as a United Methodist. And as a
United Methodist I want to stress there is nothing magical about infant baptism. It s perfectly fine to
wait until one if of an age of accountability. But that being said, let me share why I am a proponent for
infant baptism. It s at infant baptism we find ourselves being terribly Wesleyan in our theology.
Wesley stressed Prevenient grace, the grace that goes before . Wesley asserted none of us come to
Christ on our own. God moves first wooing us, drawing us near. Often we ar oblivious to the entire
thing, much like the baby. At infant baptism we say in some way we can t understand God loves you
more than we ever will. Our love pales in comparison to the love God has for you. Now lets think
about that for a moment. The baby, other than being cute, as done nothing to earn Gods love. It doesn t
even know what s going on. And yet even though the baby can give nothing back, God pours His love
upon this child in a unmemrited way. That s

  • 2. Stealth Aircraft On Bombing Missions The advantages and disadvantages of using stealth aircraft on bombing missions are varied, from their use in conflict to the risks and costs involved in operating such an aircraft. They are beneficial in restricting the length and time of battles especially when capable of long missions, but at a substantial cost to both the crew operating the craft and the US Air Force itself. This essay will explore the long missions the F 117 and B 2 stealth aircraft are capable of, the costs involved in developing and operating such aircraft, and their efficiency in battle. An advantage of using stealth aircraft such as the F 117 Nighthawk and the B 2 Spirit stealth bomber is the capability that these aircraft have to undertake long missions. The B 2 was first used in 1999 in the Kosovo War, when six aircraft flew a non stop round journey from their Missouri base, a mission taking 30 hours. The aircraft are highly automated, from their navigational systems to their weaponry and attack systems. They navigate using GPS and highly accurate inertial guidance systems which assist the autopilot functions. Bombing missions are automatically organised by a digital planning system that can carry out all functions, including release of the weapons themselves. Laser guided bombs are used such as a pair of GBU 10, GBU 12, or BLU 109 penetration bombs, or Joint Direct Attack Munitions (JDAMs). Because of the high level of automation, and the decreasing cost and size of electronic equipment, it is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Humanoid Robots According to Heather Knight, back in the initiation of the industrial revolution, robotic machines meant automation; a field that requested devices to perform and serve more efficiently than humans. In these modern days, technology and innovation underscored a different design obligation: how robots and people can work better together. But the problem that coincides is, humanoid robots are portraying a more anthropoid appearance which makes it look too horrifying to humans: the sentiment whether or not humanized robots would bond with human beings. In fact, a vague social design can stipulate people not to construe or interact with machines. According to Uncanny Valley, a useful rubric introduced by robotic designers explained that making a device that looks similar to humans is substantial to an extent. That said, humanoid robots would retain prolonging in a discomfort zone until technology achieves anthropoid likeness that emblems all, emotions and intelligence similar to humans.Zombies, for example, portrayed the human descriptive. But people feel intimidated by them even though they are unrealistic objects. Why? Because the behavior is not entirely human, and thus, human perceived them differently, Knight said.Thereby, the interdisciplinary of the eunuchs in the medieval Islamic empires serves to promote a coherent portrayal; displaying how the social performance of the elite slaves had incorporated to envisage them, identically, by the view of the freemen.Regardless of ... • 4. Observation Of A Child Observation Over the past few weeks I have observed a child in the twelve to eighteen month old category. Throughout this paper I will refer to him as Z. I had five different observations, each for one hour at the West Chester Area Day Care. I sat in classroom seven, in a little chair in the corner writing down everything I observed about him. It was interesting to learn about Z as I watched him interact with the adults and other kids that were in the room with him. Z caught my attention right away in the classroom. He was very active, walking around while the other children were mainly sitting or only crawling. This lead me to choose him to observe for this project, and focus on his physical movement and interactions with others throughout this paper. Z was always moving around, the only time he was ever sitting still was when he was placed in a height chair for snack time. He switched between crawling and walking. Most of the time he would walk, but then he would fall down and continue to wherever his destination was by crawling. I noticed one day he was holding a maraca and walked for a longer period of time than usual. According to (page 183 infants children and adolescents), it is easier for them to focus on their balance when they are holding onto an object. He demonstrated the ability t squat down and picking something up, before returning to a standing position. The adults encouraged his walking behaviors, so when the group came in from the outside playground, they would let him walk in, while most of the other kids were being pushed in the giant stroller. The average age for most kids to begin walking is 11 months and 3 weeks, the range being 9 to 17 months, so he his definitely on track for his age group (182). He was also able to climb up onto things. For example, when the children were brought on walks around the neighborhood there was a giant stroller that they rode in as mentioned earlier. Z got up the step and turned himself around to sit down in the seat. He did the same thing on some of the steps on the playground, crawling up one and turning himself around to sit. Walking up stairs with help is achieved on average at 16 months, so he appears to be on the right track towards that motor skill. A baby s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

You will need the following: measuring cups, measuring spoons, holiday themed cookie cutters, parchment paper, 1 rolling pin, 4 baking sheets, 2½ cups flour, 1 cup sugar, 1 egg, 1½ teaspoons vanilla extract, 1½ sticks butter, and ½ teaspoon salt. When you have all of your supplies, you are ready to begin. In a small bowl, mix together the flour and salt, then set it aside. Then, in a large bowl, beat the butter on high speed with an electric mixer for two minutes. Next, change the speed to medium and slowly add the sugar and beat for two more minutes. Stop mixing every 30 seconds and scrape down the sides of the bowl. Then, mix the egg and the vanilla on low speed for one minute. Stop halfway through to scrape down the sides of the bowl and continue mixing. Then, stop the mixer again and add half of the flour mixture. Beat on low speed until most of the flour has been absorbed. Finally, add the rest of the flour mixture and continue to mix everything until the dough starts to pull away from the sides of the bowl for about 1 2 minutes. • 6. Intelligence Sharing And The Capabilities Of The Homeland... Intelligence Sharing and the Capability of the Homeland Security Enterprise What are the capabilities and limitations of intelligence in supporting homeland security efforts? Since the deadly terror attacks of 9/11, intelligence gathering for homeland security has improved immensely. One of the most important developments in our law enforcement structure that has enhanced our intelligence is the creation of fusion centers. Fusion centers are state and major urban area focal points for the receipt, analysis, gathering, and sharing of threat related information between federal; state, local, tribal, territorial (SLTT); and private sector partners (Department of Homeland Security, 2016). These fusion centers are owned and operated by state and local entities and are supported by federal partners in its many aspects which include personnel deployment, capacity building, and important and crucial connectivity to federal systems (Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), 2012, para. 3). For example, the DHS provides over 70 fusion centers access to the Homeland Secure Data Network or HSDN which allows these fusion centers to receive federally generated classified threat information. By creating fusion centers, intelligence gathering and analysis is not contained in the federal level governments from the SLTT level as well as other entities relevant to this initiatives are involved. Because of this, few people traveled very far from their homes. Transportation has changed dramatically since the late 1700 s. It was during this time that Colonial America was budding as a new country. This was before airplanes, which appeared in the very early stages of the 1900 s. Cars showed up about the same time, so rewind about 200 plus years and we re back in colonial America. It wasn t civilized like it is today. The dirt roads were bumpy, grimy, and when the rains came, they were mud baths. So how did people during this time get around? Often, they didn t. Not many people could afford the cost of travel back then. Daily American Colonial Life was extremely harsh for the first settlers and colonists. They were faced with a new country, unknown territory and no friends, relatives or neighbors to help them In those days, it was fairly expensive to travel. Because of this, generally only government officials, merchants, and planters took the risk (Constitution Facts). Women were supposed to stay home and look after the children while the husband went off to do business. America was still a budding country, so there were not as many cities as there are now and they were more spread out. • 8. Ipsilateral Knee Injury Essay 1.1 Background Concomitant knee injuries and knee pain associated with lower limb fractures often stay undetected, or are inadequately addressed in fracture treatment plans, which then attributes to poor treatment outcomes. [1,2,3] The treatment of choice for tibial shaft fractures is intramedullary (IM) nailing.[4] After placing an IM nail during surgery, the ROM of the ipsilateral knee joint can be compromised due to pain, undetected ligamental, meniscal injuries, or the positioning of the IM tibial nail itself. [2,5,6,7] Although knee pain has been announced the most frequent complication of IM nailing, often times these instabilities are overlooked during emergency surgical care and remain unaddressed in post surgical management. [3,8] Long term follow up studies on anterior knee pain described incidental rates between 10 and 83 percent among patients. [1,5,9,10] It has also been stated that the high incidence of knee pain after IM nailing is of multifactorial origin.[1,8,11] ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 22. Manifesto Of Surrealism What is surrealism? Surrealism is a revolution, pure psychic automatism, an attack of conscience, and a new mode of pure expression according to its founder André Breton. In his highly controversial texts, Manifestoes of Surrealism, Breton exposes us to this new term he coined along with his colleague Philippe Soupault in homage to Guillaume Apollinaire, someone whom they believed had followed the discipline, and he explains the phenomenon in detail so that more can become aware and utilize the technique. Drawing heavy influences from Sigmund Freud and Karl Marx, Breton reveals to us the limitless opportunities of surrealism and how it frees us from everyday reality, similar to how the exoteric texts challenged us to question our beliefs. I The first Manifesto of Surrealism was published in 1924 succeeding dadaism, an art movement of the European avant garde often regarded as the movement that brought forth postmodern art. At the time of its publication, Europe was still reeling from World War I and art was very much political. Breton and other surrealists wanted to break free from the conventional art if the times and express the imagination as revealed in dreams. Thus, the Manifesto of Surrealism came about in which Breton discussed the importance of merging dream and reality. In Breton s view, one can learn to ascend to perception of a higher reality (the surreal), or more reality, if one can manage to liberate one s psyche from traditional education, the ... Cirrhotic Essay Abstract P.P.I therapy is often used in patients with cirrhosis, sometimes, in the absence of a specific indication (e.g.: acid related diseases), there are conflicting reports for their use in cirrhotic patients. However, high dose infusion (e.g., pantoprazole 8 mg/h) and prolonged use in the absence of endoscopic procedures is not supported by the literature and should be discouraged until evidence of benefit becomes available. (8) GERD Functional studies showed decreased LES function with a low amplitude of acid clearance and primary esophageal peristalsis in cirrhotics with large varices [9]. These phenomena could also be due to a mechanical effect of the varices. Cirrhotic patients without EV have also esophageal motor disorders and mixed acid and bile reflux as the main pattern whereas the cirrhosis itself was an important causative factor. It is unclear whether this might contribute to bleeding from varices [8]. Data on management of GERD in cirrhosis are few, however, the indications of use for PPIs may remain exactly the same also in patient with cirrhosis of the liver as general population for the treatment of erosive esophagitis or in general the pathology secondary to gastroesophageal reflux acid (10) Peptic ulcer and H. pylori infection Prevalence of duodenal and gastric ulcers in patients with liver cirrhosis increases as the disease progress[11] and this prevalence becomes higher in decompensated cirrhosis than in compensated cirrhosis [12]. Montag s Influences in Farenheit 451 Essay In the novel, FAHRENHEIT 451 by Ray Bradbury, Guy Montag lives in an inverted society, where firemen make fires instead of put them out, and pedestrians are used as bowling pins for cars that are excessively speeding. The people on this society are hypnotized by giant wall size televisions and seashell radios that are attached to everyone s ears. People in Montag s society do not think for themselves or even generate their own opinions; everything is given to them by the television stations they watch. • 28. Minds, Brains, and Science by John R. Searle Functionalism remains, to this day, one of the most influential theories of the mind. While many facets of functionalism has been tested throughout the century, one of the more interesting questions came in the form of computers. Similarly to a human brain, could computers also think? This idea was explored by John R. Searle, in his book titled, Minds, Brains, and Science. The author is a renowned American philosopher, particularly in the philosophy of language and mind, and is currently teaching at the University of California, in Berkeley ( John R. Searle, 2014). Searle earned his Ph.D. in philosophy at Oxford, and has made several contributions to his field on topics, such as consciousness, artificial intelligence, and the problem of free will ( John R. Searle, 2014). His Chinese Room experiment is known as one of the main critiques to the concept of artificial intelligence. In Searle s book, Searle describes his thought process into this experiment during the second chapter, titled Can Computers Think? Searle s purpose of this chapter in the book is to explain his perspective on the idea that digital computers will never develop the capability to form thought processes, and that a concept such as artificial intelligence could never exist, because our mental states exist in a biological manner. He utilizes his Chinese Room argument to aid in the development of his objectives. Before Searle goes into any detail about the purpose of this passage, he introduces the ... • 30. Role Of Female Nature In Frankenstein In the novel Frankenstein, the author Mary Shelley reinforced the role of female nature in a book that is predominantly male oriented. The female character is an underlying feature throughout the whole novel. For example, when Victor Frankenstein created his Monster from dead body parts, he disregarded the laws of female reproduction. Both Anne K. Mellor and Jonathon Bate argue that Victor defiled the feminine nature when he created his Monster from unnatural means. Mellor argued in her essay, Possessing Nature: The Female in Frankenstein, that Victor eliminated the necessity to have females at all (355). There will not be a need for females if new beings are created in a laboratory. The disruption of mother nature is one of the novel s original sins (479). In Bate s essay, Frankenstein and the State of Nature, he argued that Victor Frankenstein broke the balance between female principles of maternity and mother nature (477). Frankenstein broke nature and undermined the role of females. The argument of Mellor was more persuasive than the discussion of Bate because she was able to provide more evidence that Victor Frankenstein dishonored the role of female nature. In Mary Shelley s novel, nature plays a vital role in the development of the plot. Nature is considered a female part because Mother Nature is the collective personification of life. Nature is life bearing and nurturing, as females are to their offspring. In spite of nature being feminine, Victor ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Green water management often comes in the form of effective use of rainfall (Liu, Zehnder, Yang 2009). Green Water management has great conservation potential. For example, according to Liu, Zehnder, Yang (209), strengthening rainfall management could possibly double or even quadruple maize yields in sub Saharan Africa. Rainwater harvesting is a promising approach for green water management in the semiarid tropics of Asia and Africa (Liu, Zehnder, Yang 2009). Experiments with rainwater harvesting increased yield by a factor of 2 to 3 in Burkina Faso, Kenya, Niger, Sudan and Tanzania as compared to the current yield levels (Liu, Zehnder, Yang 2009). Additional spending in many of the rain fed areas allowed more poor people to rise above the poverty line than would be expected with investments in irrigation infrastructure (Liu, Zehnder, Yang 2009). We depend on each other for positivity, support, and, believe it or not, mental health. Being around others, especially those we share a healthy relationship with, can lower stress and anxiety. So, why is it that when some people interact with others it is the complete opposite? Sometimes, it is just a person being shy, or around people they don t know. Other times, it is complete fear and panic when dealing with others ( What is Social Anxiety? , Thomas A. Becoming an integral part of the medical team with this responsibility, I introduced myself and began talking with the Croatian patient. Noticing tears in his eyes, I learned they were in part due to the pain, but also from fear that he was going to die alone without anyone understanding his last words. Holding his hand in emotional and physical support, I felt myself becoming a part of his life as he expressed his gratitude for being with him since he had lost his immediate family during the war in Bosnia and Croatia. Communicating his multiple symptoms to the physician, one specific description stood out to me: a painful, ripping sensation in his lower back and abdomen. • 35. How Do We Dependent On Technology As I said in my previous essay, not many people realize it, but the human race desperately depends on technology for existence. Although depending on things such as computers, cellular devices, and search engines comes with very helpful and developmental research, it has also come with many negative effects. Technology has literally affected all aspects of life for every living person. To the point where it has made people lazy, taken their jobs, and has even made people addicted to social networking. Some examples of problems are constant use of social media, texting and driving incidents, cyberbullying, and even cheating on tests or exams. I believe that we ve become evermore negatively dependent on technology because humans now feel the need to socialize and connect with one another more frequently than they did before the turn of the 21st century. I strongly believe that all the problems that I listed a bove do have a solution to them. Focusing on the technology that is used most commonly, which are laptops, computers, and cell phones, I would like to specifically write about the topic of using a cellular device while driving, and cyberbullying. The reason why I decided to use the term using a cellular device while driving is because nowadays people not only text and drive, but they also use social platforms such as instagram, snapchat, and even facebook. The increase in social media use also increases the rate of bullying that is done online. These two are the major causes of feeling the need to connect with one another. The constant texting and the boost of social media use. There are many ways that distracted driving can affect you. In the article How Far Does Your Vehicle Travel While Looking at Your Cell Phone, author Tony Summerville states that, Sending or reading a text takes your eyes off the road for 5 seconds. AT 55 mph, that s like driving the length of an entire football field, blindfolded. A lot can happen in those hundred yards that a person travels while they re distracted. The tariff was passed by Congress in 1909, and it was the first change in tariff laws since the Dingley Act of 1897. The issue had been blatantly ignored by Roosevelt during his terms and the Republicans wanted to revise the tariff downward. To do this Taft called Congress to a special session, and the bill was promptly passed, reducing rates. The senate substituted a bill which reduced the number of downward revisions and increased many others. This angered many and so a compromise bill was adopted which moderated the high rates that Aldrich had pushed for. Overall the tariff lowered 650 items, raised 220, and left 1150 unchanged. Without proper lessons to counterbalance those effects, children may grow up aggressive and eager to engage in violence unaware that the real world contains far more consequences than what a TV show depicts. One of Saturnine s criticisms focused on copycat incidents where children injured themselves by trying to imitate fictional characters. The first case of a cartoon related lawsuit occurred in 1928, when a small boy, Dickie Johnson, took his family s yacht out on a lake as he tried to replicate a cartoon sea captain. Dickie crashed the boat and his family filed a case against Walt Disney on charges of corrupting a minor. During the trial, Dickie testified and stated, I thought if a lowly, common mouse could drive a boat, surely I could, too. Saturnine stated that cases of cartoon related injuries increased steadily each year ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. The Library Field At A Young Age Introduction I became interested in the library field at a young age. Through school library programs and trips to the public library with my family I developed an appreciation for the library as a place and for the talented men and women who staffed the library. This appreciation continued through my time at Southern Connecticut State University, where I earned my BS in information and library science in the winter of 2011. It was in through the university s library, Hilton C. Buley library, that I revived my first professional experience in the field of library science. I worked for three years at Buley as a student worker in the access services department. During these three years I felt an immense sense of fulfillment in my work which propelled me to further my education in the field and enroll at San Jose State University. After graduating from Southern Connecticut State University, I worked for a brief time at West Haven Public Library in West Haven, Connecticut as a part time library assistant. I found the transformation from an academic library to public library broadened my thoughts and opinions concerning library policies and patron interaction. Nonetheless, I found work at public libraries just as fulfilling as my work at Buley. In the fall of 2012 I was offered a full time position at Hilton C. Buley library as a library technical assistant and evening supervisor for access services. Due to limited funding and budget cuts my position has been revised within ... The thinking part of the coping brain, also known as neocortex, is the part that has the ability to use language and learn. The thinking brain makes it possible for organize and planning. The thinking brain also decides the way we behave. It is also in charge of our emotional experiences, which means it figures out why we are hurt or sad. The emotional experiences are called feelings. The reptilian part of the coping brain is the oldest part of the brain. It is shared by all reptiles and mammals including humans. The greatest sense of emotional pain we experience is our fear and sadness after losing those who we have loved the most in our life. From birth we are programmed to fear being abandoned and left alone to die. Rejection is when the brain notices someone we want to be friends with rejects us. Rejection triggers both reptilian and emotional coping responses. Rejection is one of the most common everyday reasons for becoming upset. Betrayal is when the bond we have with someone we trust breaks. One other form of betrayal is when someone promises us something and fails to keep that promise. Whenever a good relationship gets ruined by betrayal it takes time to heal the wounds of the relationship. As far as people know humans are the only ones that can be humiliated, animals can not be humiliated. To a human, humiliation is deep because it messes with a human s self respect. No wonder Ngugi considers Mau Mau fighters as symbols of resistance because they suffered for getting freedom and liberation. (Ngugi. And as a United Methodist I want to stress there is nothing magical about infant baptism. It s perfectly fine to wait until one if of an age of accountability. But that being said, let me share why I am a proponent for infant baptism. It s at infant baptism we find ourselves being terribly Wesleyan in our theology. Wesley stressed Prevenient grace, the grace that goes before . Wesley asserted none of us come to Christ on our own. God moves first wooing us, drawing us near. Often we ar oblivious to the entire thing, much like the baby. At infant baptism we say in some way we can t understand God loves you more than we ever will. Our love pales in comparison to the love God has for you. Now lets think about that for a moment. The baby, other than being cute, as done nothing to earn Gods love. It doesn t even know what s going on. And yet even though the baby can give nothing back, God pours His love upon this child in a unmemrited way. That s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
