Fast Cheap Fashion Lucy Siegle Summary
In this essay written by Lucy Siegle she explains the dangers of fast cheap fashion. She how
seasonal fashion that is bought is thrown away and how it is bad for the ecosystem. Then she goes
over what the consumer can do to fix the problem using facts and alternatives. Although the thesis is
not given it is implied that the more we buy fast fashionthe worse the ecosystem will get.
The primary purpose of this essay uses persuasive writing to get her point across. Informing the
reader about the eco dangers of buying outsourced clothing material. Most people often want the
cheaper alternative without going to the flea market or charity clothing banks. But all the clothes
get worn down, shrink, fade or just deteriorate in the end because the fabric is unsustainable.
Resulting in the t shirts and jeans to be tossed away and put into a landfill. Where they have been
found to transmite more than three million tons of carbon dioxide emissions . (Siegle, 7) ... Show

Un Secretary General-Mr. Ki Moon Ban
From his childhood during Korean War to his second election as the Secretary General of the
United Nations, Mr. Ki moon Ban has demonstrated the leadership of resiliency, with which he
was able to turn crisis into opportunities for his success. Moreover, Mr. Ban s diligence, sincerity
and warm heartedness also contributed greatly to his rise, along with high performance capability.
With such recognition, Mr. Ban successfully expanded his political network (both in Korea and in
the organization of US) with apparent sincerity, great communication skill and sharp sociopolitical
awareness. During the course of this paper, our group ( We ) will analyze and discuss how Mr. Ki

After the resignation, Mr. Han offered Mr. Ki moon Ban the Chief of Staff to the United Nations
position. Instead of viewing this position as demotion, Mr. Ban utilized this as an opportunity to
expand his network, learn the UN, and achieving high performance to become the Secretary
General of the UN in near future. Such resilience and positive perspective enabled Mr. Ban to be at
his current position.
Throughout his career, Mr. Ban has shown energy, enthusiasm and on the field leadership. As
previously mentioned, he actively engaged and visited China and Philippine to help the escape
of North Korean official. During his tenure at the UN, he visited the civil war sites of Darfur,
Sudan and Cote d Ivoire. To address the climate change issue, Mr. Ban visited the Antarctic to
raise awareness of the global warming. Since his anointment as the Secretary General, Mr. Ban
is known to travel the entire earth on monthly basis. He strongly feels that in order to truly
provide help where needed, actual visit would allow him to give more effective guidance and
support. Mr. Ban s famous quote, Nobody can halt a diligent person with a stop sign, echoes with
his belief; in order to tackle complex world issues in the UN, his energy and diligence will be
critical elements.
Another core strength of Mr. Ban would be his focus on transparency and mutual trust. Throughout
his political career, Mr. Ban was known to have strong sense of

Design Theory And The General Systems Theory
Introduction
The uses of conceptual models are essential to help guide the nursing process. There are many
different types of conceptual models and among these models there is the Roy Adaption model
that was created by Sister Callista Roy. According to McEwen, like many models/theories in this
unit, it is a deductive theory based on nursing practice (p. 177, 2014). Throughout this paper, we
will be explaining, discussing and analyzing this specific model by the use of a clinical situation.
Presentation of the conceptual model The Roy adaption model was influenced by Helson s
Adaption Theory and the General Systems Theory, which was developed by Ludwig von
Bertalanffy in 1968 (Pepin, Kerouac Ducharme, 2010). Each and every theory has a basic
philosophy as to where it stems from and the Roy model stems from the concepts of humanism
and veritivity. The principle of humanism describes that every individual s human experiences
affects their knowledge and values in the world. The principal of veritivity was created by Roy and
is defined as, a principal of human nature that affirms a common purposefulness of human existence
(Roy Andrews, 2008, p. 27).
Roy has four basic components of adaption. The first component is physiological and as for the
other three, they are considered psychosocial. Each component can be evaluated as being either
adaptive, which is considered positive, or ineffective, which is considered negative (Roy Andrews,
2008). To decide whether a

Great Smoky Mountain National Park Research Papers
If you like to seek out rare sights when you travel, make plans to visit the Great Smoky Mountain
National Park in mid June. For there, each year, you can take a nighttime hike and watch as
millions of fireflies put on a show you ll never forget. It isn t the masses of flickering flies that
begin to spark about 9:00 PM, although that is a pretty enough sight. What s unbelievable is that
these fireflies are synchronous they fire all together, as if on command. the show lasts about a
half hour, and it s something you ll never forget. The firefly show usually starts about June 8th
and continues for about ten days. You can check with the Smoky Mountain National Park for
dates each year, and get information about how to access the viewing trails. June is the only
time you can see this remarkable nature show. And the Smokies are one of only two places in
the world that synchronous fireflies are known to exist. The other colony of synchronous
fireflies is in Malaysia, in Southeast Asia. No one knows why the beetles (fireflies are a type of
beetle) are able to flash in sync or even why they do. Of the many species of fireflies in the park,
only the Photinus Carolinus is synchronous. The show, which begins in earnest about 9:30 PM, is
amazing. The fireflies start flashing at... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

finally documented in 1994. You ll have to travel a long way to see the other synchronous firefly

The Supremes Role In Popular Music During The 1960 s
Ever since 2011, The Supremes has been the vocal group that most interests me. Originally
called the Primettes , this female singing group was founded in 1959 and has since been one the
most successful groups to date, in America. (Bronson, 265) The singing group had four original
members, yet only three of the four made it to the peak of the group s career; those women being
Diane Ross, Mary Wilson, and Florence Ballard. Proof to this group s success would be the fact
that they rivaled the band The Beatles in worldwide success and fame during their prime in the 60s.
Not only did they challenge another wildly known band, they did this whilst also making a
headway for future generations of African American musicians, which contributes to... Show more

(Pompei) The instrumentals of The Supremes have some intriguing similarities to the music of the
Ancient Romans; relying on heavy back beats and percussion instruments bells and tambourines to
amplify the background sounds. (Etc.usf.edu) Although there is this similarity, the Romans did not
use harmonies in their music and were not known for being original in their styles of music.
Though The Supremes had very original harmonies and melodies, they had no obvious inspirations
or influences. The lack of both harmonies and melodies in Roman music and the abundance of
them in The Supremes is the starkest contrast in their compositions, despite the similarities in their
musical back beats. That being said, it is very likely that they picked up bits and pieces from other
legendary R B/soul artists, such as the Temptations, Marvin Gaye, and Stevie Wonder, all of whom
the Supremes three members were backup singers for at one time or

Traveling The World, By Mary Anne Radmacher
Artist and author Mary Anne Radmacher once said I am not the same having seen the moon shine
on the other side of the world. This quote expresses how seeing the world affects you. Two years
ago I traveled to Europe with my school and that experience has dramatically changed my
perspective on life.
Traveling the world made me realize how lucky I am to live in the United States. I have read books
that detail the struggles of Holocaust victims. I have even visited a Holocaust museum in
Washington, DC but nothing can compare to the sadness I felt when I entered the wrought iron
gate of the Dachau concentration camp. This camp is located in Dachau, Germany and served as a
prison for Jewish people and prisoners of war during World War II. This

Opposing Syrian Refugees
Since then, the U.S. government has enforced immigration to target people of Muslims
backgrounds. They are targets to further investigations, interrogations, and deportation. United
States policy makers have questioned the process in admitting Syrian refugees, especially the
security vetting procedures. The vetting process starts with the United Nations referring only
those people who are vulnerable and/or tortured. This also includes people who have been
victimized and are helpless. If there is a problem, they veto the admission. The process takes two
years or more, and a very small number of people are admitted.

has admitted thousands of people in tragedies, the Syrian Civil War continues and this will result
in more admissions. In 2013, the U.S. admitted 69,909 refugees and granted asylum to 25,199
individuals (Dakwar 2016). It also increased grants of immigration protection for victims. However,
following the Syrian refugee crisis, more than 4 million Syrians have fled conflict and violence in
their home country, and 6.5 million have been displaced internally.
In 2014 a group is created and is Al Qaida s enemy, the group is known as ISIS. America opposes
ISIS. We are here today because the administration has failed. ISIS is our enemy, the U.S. needs
to fight them and defeat them. America stands for freedom. We are the beacon of light, of
democracy, of freedom in the world. And part of that value of America is allowing people who are
escaping monsters like ISIS to be able to become Americans like us. We need to screen and make

Different Morals, Attitudes, and Goals with Changing...
As generations come and go, I ve noticed that each generation has grown up with different
morals, attitudes, and goals for their life. Which puts a gap on all these generations, each
generation is very distinct in their own ways. With each new generation being shaped and
molded by the previous one, by offering more and more to help them. Now when you look at my
generation now and the new one slowly coming up as well, you can see that we have been
turned into a selfish, lazy, and even rude generation. If you look back on our older generations,
they were never handed anything. Everything they wanted they had to work hard for an even
struggle doing it. In this day and age it seems all anyone looks for is hand outs, no one wants to
work hard for anything and achieve it. Everyone looks for the shortcuts through life, when there
are none. Another reason why things are so much easier for this generation is the new
technology we have available. With all the new technology and so much help from our previous
generations, it has gave this generation a different attitude and not so much in a good way. This
generation s attitude has been infected with laziness, selfishness, and greed. It seems that most
people in my generation today is very and only self focused. They are all worried about how
much money they can make and care about only what they want, and how quick they can obtain it.
I feel as though previous generations have made our life so much easier, we take it for

Whale Rider Reflection
The film Whale Rider takes A large portion of the film fixates on the dynamic of this connection
amongst Koro, the tribal chief, and his granddaughter Paikea. Paikea respects her grandfather, and
has a puzzling association with the tribe s ancestry; her namesake, Paikea the Whale Rider,
travelled from Hawaii to New Zealandon the back of a whale. Paikea spends the most of the film
trying to prove her worth and gain respect from her grandfather. Unlike many of the other tribal
youth, she reveres the ancestral tribe s dances and songs, and becomes highly skilled in both.
She is exceptionally proud of her heritage and is finally given the opportunity to prove herself
when a pod of whales become beached on the local shore. Mirroring her namesake, Paikea rides
the largest whale back into the waves, saving the pod from disaster and death. At the end of the
film, her strength, courage, and supernatural appointment as future chief is enough to convince
Koro of her leadership abilities, and a new generation of Maori is given hope and guidance for the
future. Maori traditions take central stage throughout the film. Each of the film s characters
struggles with these customs. For instance, Koro is more reluctant to give up or bend traditional
rules and practices. From the outset of the film, Koro is primarily concerned with the continuation
of the royal bloodline via a grandson. When only his granddaughter survives, he is not only bitter
towards her, but he is also preoccupied with remedying the situation for the sake of his people. He
is not only adamant in upholding the patriarchal leadership tradition, but the tribe chief dynamic, in
general, that many in his society have abandoned in practice and principle. Still clinging to this
way of life, he and members of the elder generation take action in an attempt to fill the leadership
void. At one point, it is decided by the elder council that a school, dedicated to the traditional
teachings and cultural elements once so vital to Maori society and leadership, specifically, be
opened to the male youths of the community. Here, Koro may conduct a formal search for the next
tribal chief, while adequately equipping all male candidates with the knowledge and practice of

Literary Devices In A White Heron
Childhood is arguably the most exciting time of a person s life. One has few responsibilities or
cares, and the smallest events can seem monumentally thrilling. Often, people reflect on the
memories of their youth with fondness and appreciation for the lessons they learned. Sarah Orne
Jewett captures this essence perfectly in the excerpt from A White Heron. Jewett uses many
literary devices, including diction, imagery, narrative pace, and point of view to immerse the
reader in familiar feelings of nostalgia and wonder, and dramatize the plot. The diction in the
excerpt is an essential component to the dramatization of the plot s central incident. Jewett uses rich
language to intensify the simple nature of the main character Sylvia s journey up a great pine tree.
For example, in describing the tree, the narrator uses personification as he mentions the huge tree
asleep yet in the paling moonlight. The use of personification harkens back to those universal
moments in childhood in which everything alive had human feelings, and creates an emotional
attachment between the reader and the tree. Jewett also uses other figurative language, like
similes, to relate the grandeur of the tree to the audience. She writes, It [the tree] was like a great
main mast to the voyaging earth... In comparing the tree to the great mast of a ship, the author
invokes feelings of awe at its size. Jewett makes great use of imagery to help the audience imagine
the setting in its complete

c) Formal Analysis
First Movement
Although a typical first movement form has features that are very close to a sonata form, the
analysis shown in Appendix traces through the keys and theme areas with respect to the necessary
T1, S1 etc terminology that invokes the 1st movement form which is an extended version of a da
capo aria or a rounded binary form. However, presented below, is a rough guideline for seeing
which measures would correspond to a sonata form outline:
T1 S1 T2: 1 111 227
Exposition
S2: 249
Development
(288 308 as re transition)
T3 S3 T4 (first section up to the cadence): 309 318 403
Recapitulation
(Cadenza)
T4: 417
Coda
Theme wise, the first movement is mostly bases itself on the opposition of two themes, one
military in character (denoted hereafter by a and its variants a1, a2 a3 etc)
and another lyrical theme, (denoted hereafter by b). It is clear when one looks at the outline of the
themes with respect to their placement, theme a is transformed into 8 different versions throughout
the composition s first movement, and an additional type, that we will call (a) which utilizes C G
C G C timpani like motive. This one, namely (a) and a derivative called a6 will play primary roles
in identifying and linking structurally important keys and harmonic motions related to changes into
different subsections (eg. Timpani theme appears from 288 295 into T3/S3 on minor v,

How One Stupid Tweet Blew Up Justine Sacco s Life
During a time when young people do most of their communicating from behind a computer
screen, Jon Ronson wrote an article called, How One Stupid Tweet Blew Up Justine Sacco s
Life. It is a report consisting of five different stories about people who were publicly humiliated
because of their distasteful social media posts. Instead of focusing on the mistakes of the tweeters,
Ronson discusses the fairness of their punishment. In order to catch and keep the attention of his
young audience, Ronson uses rhetorical devices that will make readers feel emotions like shock
and sympathy. Ronson begins the article with the story of Justine Sacco. He opens with an
enumeration, a rhetorical device that makes a point with a lot of detail. As she made the long
journey from New York to South Africa, to visit family during the holidays in 2013, Justine Sacco,
30 years old, and the senior director of corporate communication at IAC, began tweeting acerbic
little jokes about the indignities of travel (How One Stupid... 1). This gives the audience all of the
information about Justine Sacco that they need, and also makes them want to continue reading to
find out what the tweets said. He follows this opening with quotations of Justine s actual tweets.
Ronson knew that if he wanted to change the way people used social media he had to get the
attention of the generation that uses it the most. He does this by not overwhelming the audience
with facts. Instead he gives them the information

The Importance Of Comprehensive Sex Education
Many states in the Unites States require that public schools teach some form of sex education. Sex
education is a broad topic that covers many things including human sexuality, reproductive health,
safe sex, birth control, and abstinence, etc. There are primarily two forms of sex education that are
taught. The first of the two is an abstinence only program, where schools teach their students not to
have sexual relations with others outside of marriage; they also do not teach about safe sex or birth
control. The other form of sex educationthat is taught is comprehensive sex education. Schools
where comprehensive sex education is taught teach their students about the importance of sexual
abstinence, but also teach about proper use of birth control. There are many people who have
different opinions on what kind of sex education should be taught; and the best way to teach it in
public schools.
It is not uncommon for schools that teach comprehensive sex education to pass out condoms or
some other forms of contraception to their students. Since the late 1980s, some schools have made
condoms available to students as part of their multipronged efforts to reduce the risk of unintended
pregnancy and STDs including AIDS (ACLU). The belief of passing out condoms in a
comprehensive sex education program is to discourage a student from engaging in risky sexual
behaviors. The distribution of condoms in some comprehensive sex education programs is not to
necessarily to promote sex, but

Family Relationships In The Odyssey And The Coen Brothers
Homer and the Coen brothers were trying to communicate many messages to the audience in their
respective pieces, Homer, with a popular book called The Odyssey and the Coen brothers with the
film adaptation, O Brother, Where Art Thou? Although the movie and book have their differences,
one thing in common is their take on familyrelationships. In both works, the main characters
realized they were missing their families, and made it their first priority to return home to mend
unresolved issues. Homer and the Coen brothers were trying to say that in order to have a healthy
relationship with your family, it s necessary to be present and focused without distractions. In order
to have a relationship with the people you love, you need to be there for them. If you can t commit
to your family, then problems are inevitable. Relationships take work and time and attention, which
is exactly what Odysseusfailed to provide his family with. In the beginning of The Odyssey, we find

Robespierre Argumentative Dbq
Maximilien Robespierre Argumentative DBQ
On September 5, 1793, the National Convention of France declared terror the order of the day,
which essentially meant that the government would take any and all necessary measures to
maintain a sense of peace and stability. Strict laws and policies were imposed to ensure that the
nation would continue to evolve and change. This day marked the beginning of the infamous Reign
of Terror. The Reign of Terror was a period of turmoil in France following the onset of the French
Revolution in 1789. Extreme violence and unwarranted brutality became standard during this
decade. The head of the revolution and primary leader of the Committee of Public Safety was a
French politician named Maximilien Robespierre. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The spark that set off the Reign of Terror can be attributed to the king s attempted escape from
France in 1791 (Document 6). It is impossible for people of the modern world to comprehend
exactly what caused this mayhem simply because no one lived during that period. Regardless,
the event left the nation in a state of shock and uncertainty. The National Convention was forced
to make the difficult decision to place all of its power into an entirely new political branch,
knowing that something different was needed to save France. Before he was chosen to run the
Committee of Public Safety, Robespierre was revered for his courage and sheer determination.
He ridiculed the notion that a monarchy could last and instead pushed for democratic reforms
(Document 2). Robespierre spoke to the people of France with an air of confidence that quickly
won them over. His morals were fundamentally based on the ideals of early enlightenment
thinker Jean Jacques Rousseau. Both men asserted that man is good by nature but poisoned by
society. Robespierre also believed that all men deserve to be treated as equals in the eyes of the
law (Document 3). The central cause of the French Revolution was the nation s lack of a strong
military in the face of civil war and foreign invasion. Rebuilding the military was arguably the
most significant advancement that occurred during the Reign of Terror. Robespierre created a
law called the Law of Universal Conscription in an effort to propel the French military to a
reasonable state. This law mandated all men between the ages of 18 and 40 to join the army.
Additionally, women were called into service to make uniforms. Robespierre further ensured that
his troops were well fed and prepared to spring into combat at any moment by reserving the best
bread for soldiers only. After decades of internal and external conflict,

Who I Am I
Many obstacles in my life have made me who I am today. I was raised in West Portsmouth, Ohio,
a small town built off football and family. Life in a small town seems to go by very slowly. It s
all about what you make out of it. Certain events and certain people have influenced me in a way
that has made me a better person. The character of one s self is built from all the hard times we go
through in life, not always off of the easy ones.
My father has had a major influence on me during the course of my life, thus far. My dad was in
the Marine Corps before I was born. He was always strict with me with every aspect of my life and
has always pushed me to be a better person. Growing up, I would see him get up early and come
home late from work. He is a very hard working man and I hope I develop at least half of his
working abilities. He has taught me the majority of what I know now. He is a very smart man and
it s great to have a role model like that as my father.
My mother always played a more studious role in my life. She graduated from Shawnee State
University with a degree in nursing. She is a very smart woman and has always pushed me to get
good grades and go to college. I could honestly say that I wouldn t have received half the good
grades as I did if it wasn t for her always checking up and being there for me with my schooling.
She s always had a job as well and she strives to make me a better person religiously and mentally
day by day. The motivation she brings to me

Analysis Of A Prayer For My Daughter
What if those things the greatest of mankind Consider most to magnify, or to bless, But take our
greatness with bitterness? (Yeats 110). As David A. Ross writes in his book, Critical Companion
to William Butler Yeats: A Literary Reference to His Life and Work, ancestral houses were
perpetual symbols of tradition, ceremony, and aristocratic strength of character (Ross 45) for Yeats.
The anxieties about his ancestral line and preservation of high culture that plagued Yeats in his later
years are best illustrated in the poem, A Prayer for My Daughter. Written in 1919, just days after
the birth of his daughter Anne and in the midst of the Anglo Irish War, the poem lays out the future
Yeats wishes for his daughter. It begins with the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He writes that he does not want her to have beauty to make a stranger s eye distraught (Yeats 90).
His use of the word distraught underlines his belief that excessive beauty is a curse since it has
the capacity to trouble and agitate others. Especially if they cannot possess this beauty, like the
aforementioned stranger. Additionally, he worries that if his daughter is too beautiful, she will not
be concerned goodness and virtue because she will view her favorable appearance as a sufficient
end (Yeats 91). His allusions to the mythical characters Helen of Troy and Aphrodite are twofold.
He refences them to highlight how, although they both possess unparalleled beauty, they both had
had foolish and unappealing husbands and, as a result, unhappy lives riddled with conflict.
Additionally, the mention of Aphrodite as fatherless stresses the importance he places role as a
father to teach his daughter to be righteous. However, this stanza is also a veiled allusion to his
unrequited love, Maud Gonne who had tumultuous marriage with the Irish nationalist John
MacBride. He believes that Gonne, like the beautiful women of Greek antiquity, misused the power
their beauty granted them. Essentially, he wants his daughter to be the opposite of Maud Gonne,
not only to save her from the harshness of the world but also to save people from the spell that

Theme Of Romanticism In The Scarlet Letter
Romanticism is a literary style of the early 18th century that, praised imagination over reason,
emotions over logic, and intuition over science making way for a vast body of literature of great
sensibility and passion (The Romantic Era). Nathaniel Hawthorne strengthens the mood, plot, and
character development in The Scarlet Letterthrough his use of Romanticism. The Romantic topics
he uses include, but are not limited to, the use of nature as a symbol, use of rebellion, and the use of
the supernatural. Through the Romantic use of nature, Nathaniel Hawthornemultiplies the
significance of the theme in The Scarlet Letter. The symbolic use of nature influences the reader
s interpretation of the scene and it s meaning, contributing to the overall mood. In the beginning
of the novelty narrator describes the hopeless seen of the prison in which Hester Prynne
occupies, the wooden jail was already marked with weather stains and other indications of age,
which gave a yet darker aspect to its beetle browed and gloomy front (Hawthorne 41). Hawthorne
s initial description of the scene gives the reader a sense of hopelessness and bleakness. With his
addition of, But on one side of the portal... was a wild rose bush... which might be imagined to
offer their fragrance and fragile beauty to the prisoner as he went in, and to the condemned
criminal as he came forth to his doom, in token that the deep heart of Nature could pity and be kind
to him (Hawthorne 41). The newfound light

Theme Of Human Nature In The Lottery
The Lottery Human nature is complex. Even if we do have inclinations toward violence, we also
have inclination to empathy, to cooperation, to self control (Pinker). In The Lottery , Shirley
Jackson is able to create a sense of horror with and within the characters. All of the characters show
a great deal of sadness, not only because of the ritual that they take part of, but because they have
lost all emotion partaking in the ritual. Throughout The Lottery, the plot and characters reveal how
foolish and corrupted human nature can be. From start to finish, The Lottery is set up to be
profound in a chilling, eerie mood. In the beginning, the story starts off pleasant, The morning of
June 27th was clear and sunny, with the fresh warmth of a full summer day; the flowers were
blossoming profusely and the grass was richly green (Jackson 281). By starting off like this,
Jackson is able to give the reader of a happy image and allow the reader to believe that the story will
be merry. One other reason Jackson may have started of this way was to show the blindness of...

sex. When we have one superior sex, both men and women feel safer because they can rely on

world today, men are the superior sex. Wife draws for her husband, Mr. Summers said. Don t
you have a grown boy to do it for you, Janey? (Jackson 286). In the story itself, it shows how the
women are treated and thoroughly explain where the women are placed in the society. Yes,
women are given some respect but not as much as the men. With all of the feminist criticism,
human nature is clearly revealed to be foolish and greedy because of all of the made up rules of the

Sterility, and even death. Some common symptoms include: fever, fatigue, severe lower abdominal

Usually, chlamydia has no symptoms. Up to 85 percent of women and 40 percent of men with
chlamydia have no symptoms. Most people are not aware that they have the infection. When
symptoms do occur, they may begin in as little as 5 10 days after infection.
Chlamydia affects men and women differently. Some common symptoms that men experience may
be mild burning while urination and, in some men, the symptoms might disappear but in most
cases the infection is still there. Some other common symptoms include watery, white penile
discharges, which sometimes happen only in the morning, and can disappear. This does not mean
that the infection is gone. The other symptom is testicle pain. Chlamydia also makes men sterile.
It can spread from the urethra to the testicles. Then it can result in a condition called
epididymitis. Epididymitis can cause sterility. Chlamydia causes more than 250,000 cases of
epididymitis in the U.S. every year. Another danger of chlamydia for men is Reiter s syndrome.
Reiter s syndrome causes severe arthritis, and immobilizes many men. Of the estimated one and a
half million men in the U.S. who get chlamy die each year one percent 15,000 may develop Reiter
s syndrome. Perhaps one third of these men 5,000 will become permanently disabled each year.
Chlamydia poses a huge danger to females as well. The most severe complication of chlamydia is
the risk of pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). As a result of infection to women it

Better Mental Health Care Will Stop Senseless Shootings...
Gun control is a topic which has become highly politicized. Mental health is an issue that many
people do not understand. The correlation between these two issues is one that many do not see.
Shootings have been on the rise and no one can come up with a good reason why. That is where
these two seemingly different issues become something that has more in common than most can

issues and saving lives? Mental healthcare improvement or gun control?

Lobotomies, which are surgical procedures that cut and scrape different connections in the brain,

Dorthea Dix, a well known name in the psychology field, was a major contributor to improving the
quality of life for those that were in institutions. She was a volunteer at a hospital during the civil
war and realized the horrendous treatment to the patients.
The realization that people did better when they were in their own environment, as opposed to a
mental institution was a major turning point in the treatment of the mentally ill. This was the time
of deinstitutionalization, realizing that individuals would thrive outside of the institution. An article
in the Washington Post gives the shocking statistics The number of Americans with intellectual
disabilities who live in large state institutions declined by 85 percent between 1965 and 2009
(Pollack). By putting mentally ill individuals back into a more normal environment their cognitive
abilities were improved as well as their treatment. They were treated as real individuals not as just
another patient. Outpatient treatment centers became the main provider of services for the
mentally ill. While deinstitutionalization is a good thing, it can also have some negative pitfalls. A

These words help to explain why Sisyphus is happy while he pushes his rock up his mountain and

He believes that we should instead rebel against God, becoming metaphysical rebels (Camus, p.

would never surrender to Him in the face of the injustice done to man (Camus, p. 253). This is an
example of what would fuel the rebellion in order to meet its end goal. Dostoevsky has also made

Some examples are: to explain suffering in the world and to invent a source of hope while in

If you lived in an apartment next to the building in which you work, the risk involved in getting
to work on time is many times lower than that facing a person with a 20 mile commute involving
driving to the station, getting kids to school, taking a pre work study course and public transport.
The second process in risk management is the process of Risk Reduction, Minimization or
Containment. This process involves planning and action to reduce the risks and, if that is not
possible, to introduce strategies to minimize the impact of failure. To manage the risks in our
commute, we could reduce risk by moving closer to work, obtaining flexible working hours or
undertaking community and political action to improve public transport. Contingency planning
such as having alternative routes or transport would be part of this process. The third and fourth
processes of Risk Management are the Risk Monitoring and Risk Reporting of the status of risks
[particularly High risk factors], the identification of new risk factors that have emerged during the
project and reports on the effectiveness of containment strategies. In our commute example, risk
monitoring would involve watching the clock and for traffic snarls. Risk reporting could be
calling work to say you ll be late and to inform your work colleagues of potential delays for other
colleagues. Risk management also involves the evaluation and management of the impact of failure

The scene focuses on a confrontation between the two parties as they discuss reputation and

Hal s intended rise in reputation, but supporting a different trajectory to power. Both characters

Understand The Relationship Between Assistive Technology...
Understanding the Relationship between Assistive Technology and Universal Design?
To better understand the difference and relationship between assistive technology (AT) and
Universal Design (UD) we must first understand their definition.
Assistive technology in the digital age goes beyond eyeglasses, canes and wheelchairs. The more
high tech kind includes newer technologies that made a particularly dramatic impact on education.
The following are good examples of AT designed for a specific set of individuals:
For people with physical disabilities, there are alternative keyboards and electronic mobility
switches
For individuals with visual impairment, there are text to speech readers and computer screen
enlargers
For those with hearing disabilities, there are signing avatars and electronic sign language
dictionaries
For people with learning disabilities there are spell checkers and calculators
With the availability of this computer based ATs, overcoming barriers to educational access,
progress and participation is made easier.
Universal Design for Learning (UDL), on the other hand, is relatively new to education and

In 1992, the California legislature decided that the contracts for performance of the services of
surrogate motherhood is not contrary to the public consciousness, and therefore passed a bill to
permit surrogate motherhood on a commercial basis. State Governor vetoed the bill. A year later,
the California Supreme Court ruled that the legal parents of a child born using the method of
surrogate motherhood, spouses who have signed a contract for childbearing substitute mother.
Thus, in California, has been applied the principle, which was then fixed by law, according to
which all rights in respect of a child born by a surrogate mother, provided the genetic parents. Let s
return to the Russian legislation. In 1995, the Family Code was amended, relating to the use of
methods of in vitro fertilization, before the law existed white spot. November 15, 1997, the Federal
Law On Civil Status , which establishes the procedure for registering the birth of the child to his or
her genetic parents. Legislator though drew attention to the appearance of children in an
unconventional way, but, unfortunately, the law of Russia, which operates today, is far from
perfect. For example, the law is no concept of surrogate mother , which in legal surrogate mother
and genetic parents is important. It should be noted that the Family Code does not contain the
conceptual section, although many will reappear in the position it is an innovation, and the

Speech On Ultra Processed Foods
Title: For The Sake Of Your Health Cut Out These 10 Ultra Processed Foods
Header: The following ten ultra processed foods can be a serious health risk and should definitely
be eliminated from any healthy diet.
Despite the fact that ultra processed foods can lead to serious health issues, such as obesity, heart
disease and diabetes, they are still consumed on a daily basis. In fact, a recent study discovered that
more than half of the calories Americans consume come from ultra processed foods (http:/
/bmjopen.bmj.com/content/6/3/e009892). Not only do processed foods contain excessive amounts
of sugar, but also chemicals, large amounts of salt and unhealthy fats amongst other things. While
most foods are processed these days the following ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unfortunately, it is actually the other way around because butter contains more saturated fat while
many brands of margarine are high in trans fats. In addition margarine does not contain any natural
ingredients and instead has numerous chemicals like caustic soda and acetone that can be hazardous.
8.Flavored Yogurts
Healthy yogurt brands do exist, but the flavored variety are typically best avoided. Not only do
many companies use artificial colors to make these yogurts looking fruitier, but they are also
loaded with sugar and carbohydrates. Since these yogurts also tend to be very low in protein there
is nothing to balance out the high concentrations of sugar and make you feel full. Rather choose
plain or Greek yogurts for more protein and less harmful ingredients.

Comparing The Desktop And Other Computer Systems
Comparing the Desktop with other computer systems
Advantages
Top of the range desktops have more power than laptops, micro computers, mobile devices and all
in One PCs.
To start off, desktops can contain much more hardware than a mobile device or microcomputer and
AIO PCs, the outcome of being able to store so many components is the result of fitting high
quality parts that are more power immense in the computing industry so desktops beat small
devices on meeting possibilities.
The desktop has the extra benefit of being extremely customisable to adapt to the user and
environmental challenges
Extending from previous points, the desktop can surpass other systems in terms of using
components that can be located swiftly whilst being changeable in order for a client to upgrade,
this is ideal in the industry for those that want to commission their system for a preferable
experience.
Disadvantages
Highly bulky compared with the other mobile, all in one and micro systems
On the other hand, due to the occupation of desktops for retention of more dynamic components
that are heavy, the weight builds up to create a computer device that is forced to be in one space
involuntary for usage on the go in comparison to mobile devices.
Need a big space
Furthermore, the last disadvantage is users have an insufficient device for versatility, clients would
have to make additional purchases of a big platform and chair to use or support the technology so
that it is strenuous to breakage whilst

Modern Technology Impact
Due to advancement of technology world has become modern, everything has been changed
rapidly. Modern technology is drastically changing the world s living standards that result, people
can achieve everything easily. As we move into the twenty first century, it is clear to see that we
have become more and more dependent on computers, such as computerare use every filed like
School, Office and Aeroplan. My strongly believed that technology has the biggest impact on the
world.
To begin with, Internet and e mail have changed the way people communicate with each other.
Internet gave many benefits. It is a good means of communication, a fast access to information.
We are communicate with each other, share their ideas, happiness and difficulties. We have a
great opportunity to find out more about countries and history of the world. The modern means
of transportation helps to people to move from one place to another very fast. A few years ago, it
was impossible to imagine waking up in one country and falling asleep in another, as a result of
all mentioned above the boundaries between countries, their traditions and customs are erased.
However, some of them are looking for a better place to live, others want to get new experience
and knowledge. Many families are created between people from different countries.
Probing further, almost every family has their own Television. It is fixed with satellite. Television
programs can be received anywhere in the world. Now people in every

The Amendment Of A Home
In the world of which The Constitution and its Amendments must be followed, there has been
great debate on whether a dog that is trained to sniff out certain smells such as narcotics, is
considered a search prohibited by the Fourth Amendment, but what could be said if the place a
dog sniff is done, is the outside of a home. A home, is a place that a person believes they have the
most protection because that is where a person resides, but the question of whether the outside of a
home holds the same protection can be debated back and forth. It is of great importance though, in
the case of future discussion, to know if the outside of a home is protected under the fourth
amendment from a dog sniff or whether it isn t. To answer the question at... Show more content on

A person to be secure in their home would be of little practical value if the State s agents could
stand in a home s porch or side garden and trawl for evidence with impunity; the right to retreat
would be significantly diminished if the police could enter a man s property to observe his
repose from just outside the front window (Flordia v. Jardines, 2013). In other words what would
be the point of the inside of a home holding fourth amendment protections if the outside of a
home held no protections and an officer could just lurk around and look inside a home in efforts
to find evidence without a warrant; with this being said, it is safe to assume that the immediate
areas surrounding a home holds fourth amendment protection and is secure against a dog sniff
because a sniffer dog is a dog trained to use its sense of smell to detect substances such as
explosives, illegal drugs, wildlife scat, or blood (Wikipedia, n.d.) that can be hidden inside the
home. When an officer brings a companion, in this case a dog, for the purpose of finding
evidence, to the outside of person s home, a fourth Amendment violation has occurred. The
problem isn t the dog sniff itself, the problem is when an officer trespasses into a person s
property, in which society feels they have fourth amendment protection, with a trained dog in
efforts to find evidence. A dog sniff itself can be used in public places or borders for public safety,
but it is

Magical Realism In Chronicle Of A Death Foretold By...
Magical realism transforms ordinary events to have a strange twist. Throughout the novella,
Chronicle of a Death Foretold, by Gabriel GarcГa MГЎrquez, magical realism worked to create
interest and leave the reader confused and wanting more. By using a frail mix between fantasy and
fiction, rare and unusual deaths, and describing punishments for sins, MГЎrquez draws in an
audience. As strange events, deaths, and punishments become accepted, one wonders how such
events could really happen. The border between reality and fantasy world became completely mixed
up throughout the story.
Throughout the story, the characters accept magic as reality in the community. Placida Linero,
Santiago s (main character) mother, has the ability to interpret dreams, which everyone looks at
as a complete fact. The narrator describes her saying: She had a well earned reputation as an
interpreter of other people s dreams, provided they were told her before eating, but she hadn t
noticed any ominous augury in those two dreams of her son s on the mornings preceding his death
(GarcГa MГЎrquez 4). A connection with this trust of the community in fantasy can be closely
related to the short story A Very Old man with Enormous Wings, also by GarcГ
a MГЎrquez. In this
story, when an angel came into the people s yard, they accept it and only question it s reason for
being there. Elisenda, the wife of the man who finds the angel, say He s an angel she told them. He
must have been coming for the child, but

Classroom Reflective Essay
As a practicing teaching, it is responsibility to create and maintain a safe and supportive learning
environment for students. Whilst on professional experience at a local school in Cairns, I taught a
series of lessons (artefact 4) for a year 8 Health and Physical Education class. In order to effectively
teach each lesson, I had to manage the classroom activities and challenging behaviours. I used the
ten micro skills for classroom management to not only manage students behaviour but also ensure
inclusive studentparticipation and engagement.
I used different behaviour management and engagement strategies throughout the lessons taught
(artefact 4) to promote student participation (standards 4.1 and 4.3). The 10 micro skills for

The use of the 10 micro skills for classroom management reduced the serious disruptive behaviour
from occurring (Goldman, 2003). The minimisation of misbehaviour increased student participation
(standards 4.1 and 4.3). Having an awareness of the students zone of proximal development assisted
in organising classroom activities specific to the needs of the learners. This supported inclusive
student participation and engagement in classroom activities (standard 4.1). The use of a
PowerPoint presentation resulted in effective organisation of classroom activities and providing
clear directions (standard 4.2). This positive affected the success of classroom activities. According
to Rosenshine (1983), the success of any activity is all in the instructions.
Standard 5: Assess, provide feedback and report on student learning
As a practicing teaching, I had the opportunity to assess students learning and provide them with
feedback. This took place during a series of lessons (artefact 4) I taught to a year 8 Health and
Physical Education class. Through the course each lesson taught and during professional
experience, I formally and informally provided the students with feedback. There were
opportunities to use formative feedback and assessment as well as summative feedback and
assessment.
As a practicing teaching, I provided students with verbal

A Theory Of Change Process
Introduction A theory of change is a method used in community or organizational planning that
identifies preconditions for a desired change to occur. The theory of change process works by first
articulating an ultimate goal; the desired change. The next step is to work backwards from the
ultimate goal by identifying outcomes that lie along the road to change. Outcomes occurring in
both the short term and long term are defined, as are the prerequisites to arrive at them. Next, a
proposed intervention for initiating action that will theoretically lead to the short term and long
term outcomes, and eventually the ultimate goal, is clearly outlined. The resources required to
support the success of the proposed intervention are then identified.... Show more content on

According to their newsletter, GTC (2007) recaptured their mission statement that was developed at
the 1998 tribal member planning meeting. The first line of the mission statement is to re settle the
traditional village of Georgetown as a tribal communal place (GTC, 2007, p.2). This theory of
change will strategize a series of events that will assist GTC in planning to achieve this goal.
Long term outcomes Long term outcomes are essentially checkpoints situated along the road to
the change which immediately precede the ultimate goal. When the long terms outcomes are
achieved, the condition for the desired change to occur becomes present. A long term outcome
GTC should plan to arrive at along the road to change is for several tribal members to be residing
in Georgetown for at least six months per year. Establishing residency in Georgetown leads to an
increase in population which leads the goal of a being a successful, inhabited community. A second
long term outcome that will enhance the conditions for achievement of the ultimate goal is for
GTC to own and operate a small business in Georgetown. Tribal members residing in Georgetown
will benefit by having an opportunity to earn a small income to help with living expenses. The
community of Georgetown and surrounding villages will benefit from the creation of jobs and
stimulated economy. Georgetown Tribal Council will benefit by earning unrestricted funds to
continue developing and improving the quality of

  • 4. Design Theory And The General Systems Theory Introduction The uses of conceptual models are essential to help guide the nursing process. There are many different types of conceptual models and among these models there is the Roy Adaption model that was created by Sister Callista Roy. According to McEwen, like many models/theories in this unit, it is a deductive theory based on nursing practice (p. 177, 2014). Throughout this paper, we will be explaining, discussing and analyzing this specific model by the use of a clinical situation. Presentation of the conceptual model The Roy adaption model was influenced by Helson s Adaption Theory and the General Systems Theory, which was developed by Ludwig von Bertalanffy in 1968 (Pepin, Kerouac Ducharme, 2010). Each and every theory has a basic philosophy as to where it stems from and the Roy model stems from the concepts of humanism and veritivity. The principle of humanism describes that every individual s human experiences affects their knowledge and values in the world. The principal of veritivity was created by Roy and is defined as, a principal of human nature that affirms a common purposefulness of human existence (Roy Andrews, 2008, p. 27). Roy has four basic components of adaption. The first component is physiological and as for the other three, they are considered psychosocial. Each component can be evaluated as being either adaptive, which is considered positive, or ineffective, which is considered negative (Roy Andrews, 2008). To decide whether a ... For there, each year, you can take a nighttime hike and watch as millions of fireflies put on a show you ll never forget. It isn t the masses of flickering flies that begin to spark about 9:00 PM, although that is a pretty enough sight. What s unbelievable is that these fireflies are synchronous they fire all together, as if on command. the show lasts about a half hour, and it s something you ll never forget. The firefly show usually starts about June 8th and continues for about ten days. You can check with the Smoky Mountain National Park for dates each year, and get information about how to access the viewing trails. June is the only time you can see this remarkable nature show. And the Smokies are one of only two places in the world that synchronous fireflies are known to exist. The other colony of synchronous fireflies is in Malaysia, in Southeast Asia. No one knows why the beetles (fireflies are a type of beetle) are able to flash in sync or even why they do. Of the many species of fireflies in the park, only the Photinus Carolinus is synchronous. • 6. The Supremes Role In Popular Music During The 1960 s Ever since 2011, The Supremes has been the vocal group that most interests me. Originally called the Primettes , this female singing group was founded in 1959 and has since been one the most successful groups to date, in America. (Bronson, 265) The singing group had four original members, yet only three of the four made it to the peak of the group s career; those women being Diane Ross, Mary Wilson, and Florence Ballard. Proof to this group s success would be the fact that they rivaled the band The Beatles in worldwide success and fame during their prime in the 60s. Not only did they challenge another wildly known band, they did this whilst also making a headway for future generations of African American musicians, which contributes to... (Pompei) The instrumentals of The Supremes have some intriguing similarities to the music of the Ancient Romans; relying on heavy back beats and percussion instruments bells and tambourines to amplify the background sounds. Though The Supremes had very original harmonies and melodies, they had no obvious inspirations or influences. The lack of both harmonies and melodies in Roman music and the abundance of them in The Supremes is the starkest contrast in their compositions, despite the similarities in their musical back beats. That being said, it is very likely that they picked up bits and pieces from other legendary R B/soul artists, such as the Temptations, Marvin Gaye, and Stevie Wonder, all of whom the Supremes three members were backup singers for at one time or ... Traveling the world made me realize how lucky I am to live in the United States. I have read books that detail the struggles of Holocaust victims. United States policy makers have questioned the process in admitting Syrian refugees, especially the security vetting procedures. • 9. Different Morals, Attitudes, and Goals with Changing... As generations come and go, I ve noticed that each generation has grown up with different morals, attitudes, and goals for their life. Which puts a gap on all these generations, each generation is very distinct in their own ways. With each new generation being shaped and molded by the previous one, by offering more and more to help them. Now when you look at my generation now and the new one slowly coming up as well, you can see that we have been turned into a selfish, lazy, and even rude generation. If you look back on our older generations, they were never handed anything. Everything they wanted they had to work hard for an even struggle doing it. In this day and age it seems all anyone looks for is hand outs, no one wants to work hard for anything and achieve it. Everyone looks for the shortcuts through life, when there are none. Another reason why things are so much easier for this generation is the new technology we have available. With all the new technology and so much help from our previous generations, it has gave this generation a different attitude and not so much in a good way. This generation s attitude has been infected with laziness, selfishness, and greed. It seems that most people in my generation today is very and only self focused. They are all worried about how much money they can make and care about only what they want, and how quick they can obtain it. • 12. Whale Rider Reflection The film Whale Rider takes A large portion of the film fixates on the dynamic of this connection amongst Koro, the tribal chief, and his granddaughter Paikea. Paikea respects her grandfather, and has a puzzling association with the tribe s ancestry; her namesake, Paikea the Whale Rider, travelled from Hawaii to New Zealandon the back of a whale. Paikea spends the most of the film trying to prove her worth and gain respect from her grandfather. Unlike many of the other tribal youth, she reveres the ancestral tribe s dances and songs, and becomes highly skilled in both. She is exceptionally proud of her heritage and is finally given the opportunity to prove herself when a pod of whales become beached on the local shore. Mirroring her namesake, Paikea rides the largest whale back into the waves, saving the pod from disaster and death. At the end of the film, her strength, courage, and supernatural appointment as future chief is enough to convince Koro of her leadership abilities, and a new generation of Maori is given hope and guidance for the future. Maori traditions take central stage throughout the film. Each of the film s characters struggles with these customs. For instance, Koro is more reluctant to give up or bend traditional rules and practices. From the outset of the film, Koro is primarily concerned with the continuation of the royal bloodline via a grandson. When only his granddaughter survives, he is not only bitter towards her, but he is also preoccupied with remedying the situation for the sake of his people. He is not only adamant in upholding the patriarchal leadership tradition, but the tribe chief dynamic, in general, that many in his society have abandoned in practice and principle. Still clinging to this way of life, he and members of the elder generation take action in an attempt to fill the leadership void. At one point, it is decided by the elder council that a school, dedicated to the traditional teachings and cultural elements once so vital to Maori society and leadership, specifically, be opened to the male youths of the community. Here, Koro may conduct a formal search for the next tribal chief, while adequately equipping all male candidates with the knowledge and practice of many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Literary Devices In A White Heron Childhood is arguably the most exciting time of a person s life. One has few responsibilities or cares, and the smallest events can seem monumentally thrilling. Often, people reflect on the memories of their youth with fondness and appreciation for the lessons they learned. Sarah Orne Jewett captures this essence perfectly in the excerpt from A White Heron. Jewett uses many literary devices, including diction, imagery, narrative pace, and point of view to immerse the reader in familiar feelings of nostalgia and wonder, and dramatize the plot. The diction in the excerpt is an essential component to the dramatization of the plot s central incident. Jewett uses rich language to intensify the simple nature of the main character Sylvia s journey up a great pine tree. For example, in describing the tree, the narrator uses personification as he mentions the huge tree asleep yet in the paling moonlight. The use of personification harkens back to those universal moments in childhood in which everything alive had human feelings, and creates an emotional attachment between the reader and the tree. Jewett also uses other figurative language, like similes, to relate the grandeur of the tree to the audience. She writes, It [the tree] was like a great main mast to the voyaging earth... In comparing the tree to the great mast of a ship, the author invokes feelings of awe at its size. Jewett makes great use of imagery to help the audience imagine the setting in its complete ... • 18. How One Stupid Tweet Blew Up Justine Sacco s Life During a time when young people do most of their communicating from behind a computer screen, Jon Ronson wrote an article called, How One Stupid Tweet Blew Up Justine Sacco s Life. It is a report consisting of five different stories about people who were publicly humiliated because of their distasteful social media posts. Instead of focusing on the mistakes of the tweeters, Ronson discusses the fairness of their punishment. In order to catch and keep the attention of his young audience, Ronson uses rhetorical devices that will make readers feel emotions like shock and sympathy. Ronson begins the article with the story of Justine Sacco. He opens with an enumeration, a rhetorical device that makes a point with a lot of detail. As she made the long journey from New York to South Africa, to visit family during the holidays in 2013, Justine Sacco, 30 years old, and the senior director of corporate communication at IAC, began tweeting acerbic little jokes about the indignities of travel (How One Stupid... 1). This gives the audience all of the information about Justine Sacco that they need, and also makes them want to continue reading to find out what the tweets said. He follows this opening with quotations of Justine s actual tweets. Ronson knew that if he wanted to change the way people used social media he had to get the attention of the generation that uses it the most. He does this by not overwhelming the audience with facts. • 20. The Importance Of Comprehensive Sex Education Many states in the Unites States require that public schools teach some form of sex education. Sex education is a broad topic that covers many things including human sexuality, reproductive health, safe sex, birth control, and abstinence, etc. There are primarily two forms of sex education that are taught. The first of the two is an abstinence only program, where schools teach their students not to have sexual relations with others outside of marriage; they also do not teach about safe sex or birth control. The other form of sex educationthat is taught is comprehensive sex education. Schools where comprehensive sex education is taught teach their students about the importance of sexual abstinence, but also teach about proper use of birth control. There are many people who have different opinions on what kind of sex education should be taught; and the best way to teach it in public schools. It is not uncommon for schools that teach comprehensive sex education to pass out condoms or some other forms of contraception to their students. Since the late 1980s, some schools have made condoms available to students as part of their multipronged efforts to reduce the risk of unintended pregnancy and STDs including AIDS (ACLU). The belief of passing out condoms in a comprehensive sex education program is to discourage a student from engaging in risky sexual behaviors. Robespierre Argumentative Dbq Maximilien Robespierre Argumentative DBQ On September 5, 1793, the National Convention of France declared terror the order of the day, which essentially meant that the government would take any and all necessary measures to maintain a sense of peace and stability. Strict laws and policies were imposed to ensure that the nation would continue to evolve and change. This day marked the beginning of the infamous Reign of Terror. The Reign of Terror was a period of turmoil in France following the onset of the French Revolution in 1789. Extreme violence and unwarranted brutality became standard during this decade. The head of the revolution and primary leader of the Committee of Public Safety was a French politician named Maximilien Robespierre. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The spark that set off the Reign of Terror can be attributed to the king s attempted escape from France in 1791 (Document 6). It is impossible for people of the modern world to comprehend exactly what caused this mayhem simply because no one lived during that period. Regardless, the event left the nation in a state of shock and uncertainty. The National Convention was forced to make the difficult decision to place all of its power into an entirely new political branch, knowing that something different was needed to save France. Before he was chosen to run the Committee of Public Safety, Robespierre was revered for his courage and sheer determination. He ridiculed the notion that a monarchy could last and instead pushed for democratic reforms (Document 2). Robespierre spoke to the people of France with an air of confidence that quickly won them over. His morals were fundamentally based on the ideals of early enlightenment thinker Jean Jacques Rousseau. Both men asserted that man is good by nature but poisoned by society. Robespierre also believed that all men deserve to be treated as equals in the eyes of the law (Document 3). The central cause of the French Revolution was the nation s lack of a strong military in the face of civil war and foreign invasion. Rebuilding the military was arguably the most significant advancement that occurred during the Reign of Terror. Robespierre created a law called the Law of Universal Conscription in an effort to propel the French military to a reasonable state. This law mandated all men between the ages of 18 and 40 to join the army. Additionally, women were called into service to make uniforms. Robespierre further ensured that his troops were well fed and prepared to spring into combat at any moment by reserving the best bread for soldiers only. Ross writes in his book, Critical Companion to William Butler Yeats: A Literary Reference to His Life and Work, ancestral houses were perpetual symbols of tradition, ceremony, and aristocratic strength of character (Ross 45) for Yeats. The anxieties about his ancestral line and preservation of high culture that plagued Yeats in his later years are best illustrated in the poem, A Prayer for My Daughter. His use of the word distraught underlines his belief that excessive beauty is a curse since it has the capacity to trouble and agitate others. Especially if they cannot possess this beauty, like the aforementioned stranger. Additionally, he worries that if his daughter is too beautiful, she will not be concerned goodness and virtue because she will view her favorable appearance as a sufficient end (Yeats 91). His allusions to the mythical characters Helen of Troy and Aphrodite are twofold. He refences them to highlight how, although they both possess unparalleled beauty, they both had had foolish and unappealing husbands and, as a result, unhappy lives riddled with conflict. Additionally, the mention of Aphrodite as fatherless stresses the importance he places role as a father to teach his daughter to be righteous. However, this stanza is also a veiled allusion to his unrequited love, Maud Gonne who had tumultuous marriage with the Irish nationalist John MacBride. He believes that Gonne, like the beautiful women of Greek antiquity, misused the power their beauty granted them. Comparing The Desktop And Other Computer Systems Comparing the Desktop with other computer systems Advantages Top of the range desktops have more power than laptops, micro computers, mobile devices and all in One PCs. To start off, desktops can contain much more hardware than a mobile device or microcomputer and AIO PCs, the outcome of being able to store so many components is the result of fitting high quality parts that are more power immense in the computing industry so desktops beat small devices on meeting possibilities. The desktop has the extra benefit of being extremely customisable to adapt to the user and environmental challenges Extending from previous points, the desktop can surpass other systems in terms of using components that can be located swiftly whilst being changeable in order for a client to upgrade, this is ideal in the industry for those that want to commission their system for a preferable experience. Disadvantages Highly bulky compared with the other mobile, all in one and micro systems On the other hand, due to the occupation of desktops for retention of more dynamic components that are heavy, the weight builds up to create a computer device that is forced to be in one space involuntary for usage on the go in comparison to mobile devices. The Amendment Of A Home In the world of which The Constitution and its Amendments must be followed, there has been great debate on whether a dog that is trained to sniff out certain smells such as narcotics, is considered a search prohibited by the Fourth Amendment, but what could be said if the place a dog sniff is done, is the outside of a home. A home, is a place that a person believes they have the most protection because that is where a person resides, but the question of whether the outside of a home holds the same protection can be debated back and forth. It is of great importance though, in the case of future discussion, to know if the outside of a home is protected under the fourth amendment from a dog sniff or whether it isn t. To answer the question at... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A person to be secure in their home would be of little practical value if the State s agents could stand in a home s porch or side garden and trawl for evidence with impunity; the right to retreat would be significantly diminished if the police could enter a man s property to observe his repose from just outside the front window (Flordia v. Jardines, 2013). In other words what would be the point of the inside of a home holding fourth amendment protections if the outside of a home held no protections and an officer could just lurk around and look inside a home in efforts to find evidence without a warrant; with this being said, it is safe to assume that the immediate areas surrounding a home holds fourth amendment protection and is secure against a dog sniff because a sniffer dog is a dog trained to use its sense of smell to detect substances such as explosives, illegal drugs, wildlife scat, or blood (Wikipedia, n.d.) that can be hidden inside the home. When an officer brings a companion, in this case a dog, for the purpose of finding evidence, to the outside of person s home, a fourth Amendment violation has occurred. The problem isn t the dog sniff itself, the problem is when an officer trespasses into a person s property, in which society feels they have fourth amendment protection, with a trained dog in efforts to find evidence. • 46. Magical Realism In Chronicle Of A Death Foretold By... Magical realism transforms ordinary events to have a strange twist. Throughout the novella, Chronicle of a Death Foretold, by Gabriel GarcГa MГЎrquez, magical realism worked to create interest and leave the reader confused and wanting more. By using a frail mix between fantasy and fiction, rare and unusual deaths, and describing punishments for sins, MГЎrquez draws in an audience. As strange events, deaths, and punishments become accepted, one wonders how such events could really happen. The border between reality and fantasy world became completely mixed up throughout the story. Throughout the story, the characters accept magic as reality in the community. Placida Linero, Santiago s (main character) mother, has the ability to interpret dreams, which everyone looks at as a complete fact. The narrator describes her saying: She had a well earned reputation as an interpreter of other people s dreams, provided they were told her before eating, but she hadn t noticed any ominous augury in those two dreams of her son s on the mornings preceding his death (GarcГa MГЎrquez 4). A connection with this trust of the community in fantasy can be closely related to the short story A Very Old man with Enormous Wings, also by GarcГ a MГЎrquez. In this story, when an angel came into the people s yard, they accept it and only question it s reason for being there. Elisenda, the wife of the man who finds the angel, say He s an angel she told them. He must have been coming for the child, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This supported inclusive student participation and engagement in classroom activities (standard 4.1). The use of a PowerPoint presentation resulted in effective organisation of classroom activities and providing clear directions (standard 4.2). • 49. A Theory Of Change Process Introduction A theory of change is a method used in community or organizational planning that identifies preconditions for a desired change to occur. The theory of change process works by first articulating an ultimate goal; the desired change. The next step is to work backwards from the ultimate goal by identifying outcomes that lie along the road to change. Outcomes occurring in both the short term and long term are defined, as are the prerequisites to arrive at them. Next, a proposed intervention for initiating action that will theoretically lead to the short term and long term outcomes, and eventually the ultimate goal, is clearly outlined. The resources required to support the success of the proposed intervention are then identified.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first line of the mission statement is to re settle the traditional village of Georgetown as a tribal communal place (GTC, 2007, p.2). This theory of change will strategize a series of events that will assist GTC in planning to achieve this goal. Long term outcomes Long term outcomes are essentially checkpoints situated along the road to the change which immediately precede the ultimate goal. When the long terms outcomes are achieved, the condition for the desired change to occur becomes present. A long term outcome GTC should plan to arrive at along the road to change is for several tribal members to be residing in Georgetown for at least six months per year. Establishing residency in Georgetown leads to an increase in population which leads the goal of a being a successful, inhabited community. A second long term outcome that will enhance the conditions for achievement of the ultimate goal is for GTC to own and operate a small business in Georgetown.
