Difference Between Digital Reading And Digital Reading
Digital Reading vs. Printed Reading
For a person who loves to read, I could never imagine myself reading on a screen when it comes
to the choice of print or digital reading. Whether it is for research, schoolwork, or just for fun, the
articles I find online only encourages me to print them so that I could have a physical copy in my
hands. That s when the inseparable feeling occurs to me: I feel more of an attachment between the
physical copy of the text and myself. I become so indulged in the text that my surroundings
disappear. I can ultimately understand what I m reading and grasp all the book s pearls. Many people
who enjoy reading can reminisce with the same feelings that I have experienced. Even many of
those who read for the sake of completing a task can admit that there s not much of a strain when
comparing print to digital reading. This is why reading from a book is still a necessity in our
daily lives: it allows for a better grasp of information, greater memory production, and an enjoyable
experience that the reader can always appreciate.
When we read from books, our brains can attain more information at a more accurate and faster
rate, resulting in greater scores when displaying comprehension skills in the long run. Lauren
Singer and Patricia Alexander, scholars of University of Maryland, proves this instance in their
experiment, Reading Across Mediums: Effects of Reading Digital and Print Texts on
Comprehension and Calibration (2016). The study consisted of

Computer Ethics and Information Systems
Computer Ethics and Information Security
a.Introduction
The consideration of computer ethics fundamentally emerged with the birth of computers. There
was concern right away that computers would be used inappropriately to the detriment of society
compromising information security, or that they would replace humans in many jobs, resulting in
widespread job loss.
Ethics Guidelines or rules of conduct that govern our lives, work, behavior and communication in
both public and private undertaking.
Ethics are a set of moral principles that govern an individual or a group on what is acceptable
behaviour while using a computer. Computer ethics is a set of moral principles that govern the
usage of computers. One of the common issues of computer ... Show more content on

In that way, it is like a book: Obtaining illegal copies of copyrighted software is as bad as
photocopying a copyrighted book. There are laws against both. Information about the copyright
owner can be embedded by a process called watermarking into pictures in the digital format.
7) Thou shalt not use other people s computer resources without authorization: Multiuser systems
use user id s and passwords to enforce their memory and time allocations, and to safeguard
information. You should not try to bypass this authorization system. Hacking a system to break and
bypass the authorization is unethical.
8) Thou shalt not appropriate other people s intellectual output: For example, the programs you
write for the projects assigned in this course are your own intellectual output. Copying somebody
else s program without proper authorization is software piracy and is unethical. Intellectual
property is a form of ownership, and may be protected by copyright laws.
9) Thou shalt think about the social consequences of the program you write: You have to think
about computer issues in a more general social framework: Can the program you write be used in
a way that is harmful to society? For example, if you are working for an animation house, and are
producing animated films for children, you are responsible for their contents. Do the animations
include scenes that can be harmful to

Let a_0 = 0. Using equations 2 and 3, after canceling terms,

The process to derive a _ k was much simpler than deriving b _ k , since I simply multiplied the

Corruption Of Somalia After World War II
CORRUPTION IN SOMALIA FINAL GRADUATE PAPER Mohammad mohammad Brief
geography and history In the late 1800 s, European colonialism came to Somalia. Especially in
areas away from the coast, they fought in a fierce way. In the end, most of Somalia came to be
under the control of Britain, France or Italy. World War II brought about further fighting in the
region, as Somalia s ocean access is strategic. After World War II, Italy, Britain and USA
remained involved in governing Somalia. In 1960, the Somali Republic was established with a
civilian government. In 1969, Mohamed Barre seized power and became the ruler of Somalia. He
ushered in socialist views of nationalized businesses and cooperative farms. Government positions
in his regime went to clans loyal to him, despite his regime s outwardly anti clan laws. The Cold
War further complicated matters in Somalia. Both the West and the Soviet Union believed the area
to be of strategic importance. Hence weapons and humanitarian and financial aid come into Somalia
from outside governments. CORRUPTION IN SOMALIA As one of the longest running state
collapses, Somalia faces many of the major corruption challenges that affect conflict torn countries,
with widespread corruption and a deeply established patronage system undermining the legitimacy
of the FGS. Corruption is further exacerb ated by the absence of a strong functional

The Process of Baking Baklava Have you ever been at a Greek restaurant and eaten one of those
deliciously flaky Baklava desserts? Do you wish you were able to make it at home for yourself or
to bring to a potluck? I know that Baklava seems as if it should be an extremely difficult dish to
prepare, but believe it or not it is surprisingly simple and easy. After reading this you should be
confident and capable of preparing, baking, and serving the most delicate and savory dessert that
will ever come from your oven. To begin, make sure you have all of the necessary ingredients: one
pound of pecans, one teaspoon of cinnamon, a food processor, one 16oz thawed package ... Show

The sauce will need to be prepared while the baklava is baking, so it will be ready when you take
the dish out of the oven. In a medium saucepan bring one cup of water and one cup of white
sugar to a boil while stirring occasionally. Once the sugar has completely dissolved pour in half a
cup of honey and a teaspoon of vanilla extract. Gently stir the mixture while it simmers for 20
minutes. Immediately after removing the golden baklava from the oven drizzle one tablespoon
of sauce on each piece, cover all the dry spots with the remaining sauce. Allow the dessert to cool
completely before transferring the flaky triangles into individual cupcake liners. Put a few
pieces into Ziploc bags and freeze for a tasty treat another day or arrange them on a serving
platter to share with friends. Be sure to leave them uncovered or they may become soggy
overnight. You are now equipped with the knowledge to prepare a dish that will have people
singing praise to your baking skills. As you can see this recipe is surprisingly easy to make with
an amazing end product. Every time you make this dessert it will become easier and easier;
which is good because once you share it with others they will be asking you to make it again and
again. Remember, honey and pecans are healthy so feel free to have another

The Vietnamese Youth Development Center
Never have I been so wrong in judging the Vietnamese American community. In my mind, the
model minority myth has always been in place and completely stable. I never knew that a majority
of Vietnamese American youth experienced gang related violence, extreme poverty, numerous
stereotypes, and even depression. I never knew how common all of these problems were within
their community. In addition, their problems existed even within their own families through
generational conflicts and cultural differences. These problems are real, and occur within real
families, real communities. These problems are overlooked by almost everyone, and it saddened
me that barely anyone bothered to address these problems. It was then, that I realized that I was
part of the problem. I needed to be aware of what is going on around me, and what I have to do to
help. I must analyze and address the problem. The Vietnamese Youth Development Center is an
organization that provides assistance for refugees and immigrants, typically low income families.
These youth are experiencing problems with their mental health, gang violence and racism, poverty,
and problems with their familial relationships. The Vietnamese Youth Development Center helps to
alleviate some of these struggles, and provides various programs that help with increasing
awareness, remediating torn relationships, and educating. One major problem has to do with gang
related violence. The solution to this is quite complex, and will be

Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP)
Abstract
This paper is going to take a detailed look at Bombardier Recreational Products, also known as
BRP. The examination of BRP will begin with the inception of the company, and the product
started it all, the tracked vehicle for transportation on snow. Its evolution took it from a car like
vehicle to what is known today as the snowmobile and while it has evolved with modern
technology it is the heartbeat that has helped BRP grow into a global leader. BRP just does not
make snowmobiles; they manufacture a wide range of recreational products to be used all year
round. Vehicles that enhance the human experience across land and sea. As much fun and success
as BRP has with the products they produce, the success of BRP lies in the company s ... Show more

they want to keep people outside enjoying their products. They also make accessories and clothing

Today BRP s success is not possible without the management team that has driven the brand
forward since Bombardier left it in his family s hands in 1964. Like Bombardier, the company
continues to be a leader in innovation and technology. The focus of the company s vision to excel

Emotional Issues In Juno
Juno, is about a 16 year old, high school girl faced with the challenge of an unplanned pregnancy.
As she sits in an abortion clinic waiting to abort her unborn child, she decides to have the baby.
She is aware that she can t raise it herself and decides to give her child up for adoption. She
stumbles upon a lovely couple on a newspaper ad and instantly knows they are the parents she
wants for her child. However, problems begin to unravel when Juno and Mark start bonding,
perhaps more than they should. Grief and loss are seen throughout the movie from the birth mother,
adoptive parents, and the grandparent s perspective.
Grief and loss was experienced by Juno throughout the film. The movie begins by Juno telling her
story of how she and her best friend, Paulie Bleeker, engaged in sexual intercourse. After taking

Doing a private adoption and hiring a lawyer was a way of ensuring the same thing wouldn t

distrusted Juno because the last birth mother got cold feet and Vanessa didn t want to experience
it all over it again. This uncertainty is seen when Vanessa asks Juno how sure she was of giving
her baby up for adoption. She was desperate to have a child and become a mother. Her wants
pushed Mark away causing them to have marital problems and eventually leading to him wanting a

Michael Jordan Perseverance
Michael Jordan is known for his abilities on the basketball court. In the 90 s, Jordan helped the
Chicago Bulls win 7 NBA titles. After retiring in 1997, he found even more success as a coach in
the NBA. However, Michael Jordan s success didn t come easy. There were many obstacles he had
to overcome to get where he is today. I believe Michael Jordanis a striking example of
determination and perseverance because he was cut from his high schoolvarsity team, told he was
not good enough to play college basketball, and overcame his father s murder. Jordan grew up
loving basketball, but talent didn t come naturally to him. In fact, during his junior year of high
school, he was cut from the varsity team. Jordan was devastated, but made the choice to work
even harder to reach his goal. He was able to improve his game to make varsity his senior year.

The coaches not only thought he was good enough to play college basketball, but that he was
good enough to be their starting guard in his first year. Michael Jordan believed that hard work
and determination would someday pay off for him. Many people think that Michael Jordan was
born great, and that he didn t have to work hard. Michael Jordan was cut from his high school

Neanderthals Essay
While there were many genetic differences found between Neanderthal and modern human DNA,
there was also a number of genetic overlap. Genomes were taken and sequenced from Africans,
New Guinean, Han Chinese, and French (Green et al. 2010). Genetic overlap and similarity was
found among the French, New Guinean, and Han Chinese but there was no significant similarity
found between the African genomes (Green et al. 2010). In addition, data was taken based on
haplotypic differences. If there was considerable gene flow from Neanderthals to modern humans, it
would be suspected that there would be similarities between Neanderthals and non African

Through previous studies, it has been suspected that Neanderthals, who are a close common
ancestor to modern humans, lived in parts of Asia and Europe. Speculations surrounding whether or
not modern humans interbred or simply co existed with Neanderthals has been a highly regarded
topic. If interbreeding did occur, it would suggest that modern humans did in fact partly evolve
from genetic variations with Neanderthals. In one study, this question is explored even further
using information from the Neanderthal genome (Wall et al. 2013). Data was gathered based on
admixture (interbreeding) rates between Neanderthals, East Asians, and Europeans using the
Denisova genome (bone fragments found in the mountains of Siberia and Russia) (Wall et al.
2013). After comparison, the results found varying admixture rates among the different populations.
For example, the rate of admixture was 40% higher with East Asians than Europeans (Wall et al.
2013). Due to varying admixture rates, it can be suggested that Neanderthals did not all at once
interbreed with Europeans and Asians, but this interbreeding occurred during separate times
resulting in different

Plastic And Cosmetic Surgery
In recent years, plastic and cosmetic surgery has become more saturated in society through
magazines, television programs, and advertisements that promise attractiveness and youth.
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, in 2015, 17.1 million cosmetic
procedures were performed in the United States, 115% increase from 2000 (1st) . The surge in
available providers as well as lower costs and less invasive procedures appeal to the majority.
Provided conditions under which the maintenance of outer appearance is made important,
cosmetic surgery constructs the need as well as legitimization. The normalization of cosmetic
surgery is the result of the 2011 chin obsession, 2013 butt trend, and the 2014 battle of the
breasts and pecs. The desire for the perfect pout in 2016 ultimately brought significant change
and popularity to cosmetic surgery. 2011 saw the dramatic 71 percent jump from 2010 in
mentoplasty (chin augmentation) procedures for men and women. The key proponent for
mentoplasty came about from the desire for youthfulness and success in the workplace (2nd).
The chin [...] is the first area to show signs of aging (ASPS President Malcolm Z. Roth, MD).
2011 saw more patients seeking subtle changes such as blepharoplasty (eye lift), fillers,
injections, laser hair removal and rejuvenation (3rd). Patients between the ages of 40 54 years of
age saw the largest change at 77 percent while 55 came in at a close second (70%) and ages 30 39
at 69 percent (4th).

Tommy Hilfiger Essay
Tommy Hilfiger Case Study: EC 2102
This essay it will examine the economic, social and political issues that shaped Tommy Hilfiger
on a global environment. First it will investigate why Hilfiger decided to sell internationally rather
than concentrating on the domestic market and secondly it will analyse if operating globally
affected the prices for Hilfiger s merchandise. Analysing the prices will lead to a conclusion which
will reveal if it has created any problems for the Hilfiger s organisation.
In the United States clothing sales in general have been growing less than 5 percent per year,
much slower than in foreign markets (Daniels et al, 683:2009). This is evident if you look at the

It is clear that focusing sales in the domestic market would have been disadvantage to Hilfiger.
Invested internationally to create more demand and make use of the resources is fundamental
in foreign direct investment. This would have prompted Tommy Hilfiger to sell on an
international basis rather than focusing purely on the domestic market. Larger firms are able to
capture economies of scale and hence produce goods more cheaply than smaller and presumably
less efficient firms (Brown, D Swanson, L 2003: 234). This is apparent, with Tommy Hilfiger
and its partners operate over 350 stores worldwide . (Tommy Hilfiger, 2012). By becoming a
larger firm and having a large number of stores worldwide will secure the economies of scale.
This has a variety of benefits for the Tommy Hilfiger which will help lower production costs and
with the extra profits, Hilfiger may want expand further to capitalized on new markets. In addition,
with stores worldwide it may help reduce the risks of depending on one market to support the long
term future of the Hilfiger s corporation. These benefits for the Hilfiger business can be associated
with Dunning s eclectic theory which looks at the collective view of the benefits engaging in
Foreign Direct Investment, (FDI), (Gilpin,R 2001). One of the rewards in FDI the location specific
advantages which includes, greater market opportunity,

Cheerleading is Not a Sport Essay
Cheerleading is Not a Sport
According to Joe Hatton, the author of the article, Sports Beat The sport of cheerleading: It s more
than just pompoms and smiles, cheerleading is a sport because it requires strength, balance, and
coordination. The major claim of the article is cheerleading is a sport plain and simple and
cheerleaders are true athletes (Hatton C 04). The article offers the following arguments in support
of the claim. Hatton claims because cheerleaders are athletes, cheerleading is a sport. Hatton also
says cheerleading is a sport because of the competitive aspects. We believe cheerleading is not a
sport, because not all cheerleaders compete. Most cheerleaders rarely, if ever, show athleticism.
Cheerleading ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In cheerleading athleticism is not required and competitions are not held. Cheerleaders participate
in athletics as bystanders. They are there to support and entertain their school.
Entertainment and Athleticism Cheerleading is simply entertainment for viewers and is a social
club for its participants. Sports Beat The Sport of Cheerleading: It s a lot More than Just Pompoms
and Smiles, points out that a main benefit of cheerleading is the ability to easily transition into the
entertainment industry (Hatton C 04). This statement supports our belief that cheerleading should
not be considered a sport. Cheer leading, the leading of cheers at sporting events is not a sport.
Entertainment, versus athleticism, is more of what cheerleading is. Team supporters are present at
games/events to raise school spirit and encourage cheering. Cheerleading generally requires a
competition to be in progress, so the cheerleading itself can occur. This is not an activity which can
take place alone.
While there are some aspects of dancing and gymnastics involved, the purpose is to cheer at
sporting events, not to be an event itself. Although it is not a sport, it is worthy of praise on its
merits as entertainment. Much thanks to cheerleaders, fans come to support their friends and
school in the event of competitions.

My Sister Letter
It is difficult to even begin this letter, little sister, because I simply don t know where to start. We
have been through plenty of trials and tribulations and I know very well how mature you are for
your young age but there remain some pieces of the story that you don t know of. I am not here

when certain pieces come to light, you may look upon it without pain. People are not perfect.
People are not always kind. People are not always well intentioned. And the truth is: our parents
are people too. You know this because despite all that I have done in my attempts to shield you,

Technology, Elearning And Implications Of Learning Theories
Technology, eLearning and Implications of Learning Theories
Sagar Gadkari
Southern Illinois University, Carbondale IL
Abstract: The aim of this paper is to describe the core learning theories and their implications on
online learning or eLearning. The paper will also look at how technology can be leveraged for
knowledge acquisition under Constructivism theory and how technology can help in learning and
knowledge management. Analysis of various theories and their implications on online learning and
as well as efficient use of technology for designing and developing the courses can make a
considerable difference to the learner in the learning activity. Lastly, the paper also briefly describes
learning and knowledge management and use of technology to support it. Introduction
Learning is defined as the change in behavior as a consequence of exposure to external stimuli or
as defined by some major dictionaries, learning is an activity or process of gaining knowledge or
skill by studying, practicing, being taught, or experience something. ELearning or online learning
follows the same principals but just differs in the method of delivery, which is through any
electronic media. ELearning, in the recent days been gaining momentum within the corporates and
universities and is being considered as one of the best ways satisfy learning goals. A successful and
an exceptional learning experience, be it traditional or online, is an outcome of a thorough

Steven Spielberg s Classic Saving Private Ryan
A film genre is a motion picture category based on similarities in either the narrative elements or
the emotional response to the film. While films have at least one major genre, there are a
number of films that are considered crossbreeds or hybrids with three or four coinciding genre
or sub genre types that they can be identified with them and most can be filed into categories that
are easily recognizable to audiences (Goodykoontz Jacobs, 1998, p. 4.1). However, ever so
seldom a film comes along that breaks free of its invisible bounds of genre and it leaves the
audiences confused about the actual existence of genre. One such film is a film that most are
familiar with Steven Spielbergs classic Saving Private Ryan. Saving Private Ryan will always be
remembered among the best war movies ever made. It does what every prodigious war movie
should, it takes a realistic look at war and shows us the horrific side of war intelligently. The plot
is marvelously original; eight men are sent behind enemy lines to rescue one soldier, Private
Ryan (Matt Damon). Ryan is the only remaining son in his family; his three brothers have all died
in action recently. Gen. George Marshall is so touched by Mrs. Ryan s dilemma, who
unfortunately learns of the deaths of her three sons on the same day, and orders that her only
remaining heir, Ryan, be returned home immediately. The holdup to the plan is that Ryan
parachuted into Normandy on D Day, and the Army has no idea where Ryan is or if he is

Mark Antony And Popular Culture
Mark Antony and Popular Culture: Masculinity and the Construction of an Icon by Rachael
Kelly, is a pathbreaking analysis of how Antony (the pop culture icon, hopeless lover and
drunkard) differs so substantially from Antonius (the historical figure, esteemed general and
statesman). Kelly successfully lays out with great quality and depth how the mythology itself
performs a deeper socio cultural function. In order to further examine and engage with this idea,
this informative and original study employs a socio ideological analysis of a series of seven
culturally resonating screen texts dating from, for example, Cleopatra (Cecil B DeMille, 1934) to
the television series Rome (HBO, BBC, RAI, RAI2, 2005 2007). This meticulously... Show more

Other important texts that were not examined such as silent films, comedies, animation, and
pornography all of which have told the story of Mark Antony in some way or another at some point
were purposefully neglected. Due to Kelly s analysis only considering those films that follow the
genre conventions of the historical epic, meaningful information about hegemonic masculinity as it
is encoded within these genres is neglected and it does not help that often times, discourses in a
historical epic are embedded within Western gender and identity construction and therefore go
unseen to audiences. However, this exemplar book still greatly contributes to the fields of gender,
history and media by taking gender studies to a new direction by probing the purpose and
boundaries of hegemonic masculinity within Western cultural and political discourse. Students,
scholars and fans of Mark Antony and gender will learn greatly from this monograph and in which
the Antonian mythography has been translated into the complex semiological system that is

Burial Of The Fetus Burial Analysis
I have chosen the topic of burial of the fetus because I believe that even though the fetus was

The Tragic Character of Blanche Dubois in A Streetcar Named Desire
*No Works Cited To state the obvious, a tragic agent is one that is the subject of a tragic event or
happening. In A Streetcar Named Desire, Blanche Dubois is this agent. She experiences numerous
things, and has certain dynamics that solidify her tragic elements. Many essayists describe these
elements and they give clear conceptions of her tragic nature. Aristotle has written of many
qualities one must have in order to fit in the tragic category. Firstly, Aristotle contends that a
tragic agent must be of the nobility . Now this is not to say that Blanche is of a royal descent,
although she acts like it, but it has been interpreted as one who is of a noble cause or ... Show more

Her reversal comes when her sister s husband, Stanley, suddenly rapes her. Though all this time
Blanche sought a smooth and new sexual lifestyle, she once again engages in a sexual deviance.
These three things are what make Aristotle s tragic agent a truth in Tennessee Williamsplay. As if
Blanche DuBois hadn t embodied enough of one s idea of a tragic agent, Arthur Schopenhauer finds
more qualities in her that further the inclination that she was meant for tragedy. Schopenhauer
alludes to two main ideas that Blanche applies to. The first being that of desire. Desire brought
Blanche to Elysian Fields in two ways: literally on a streetcar named Desire, and conceptually as
an escape from past horrors and the want to seek a better life. Desire is the one vice that
Schopenhauer believes is the end all be all destruction of an agent. As long as one continues to have
desires, that agent will continue down his or her path of inevitable destruction. Which brings him to
the next point: Resignation. Resignation is the act of cutting off all desires one might have. It is a
final action one completes when they completely cleanse themselves of their greedy desires.
Blanche does this in her last line, Whoever you are I have always depended on the kindness of
strangers. In the last scene, Blanche has continued to fool herself and attempt to fool others by
telling stories of Shep Huntleigh coming to take her on a cruise. She obviously has not resigned the

Government Surveillance During The Modern Era
Big Brother Every day, nearly every single person communicates with each other electronically
whether it is via email, text or phone call. It is quite nearly impossible to go a day without using a
cell phone or personal computer; some cannot live without our internet connected devices. Through
all of this communication, there is a lot of very personal information is revealed without thinking
about whether or not there can or will be an impact of doing this. In June of 2013, the impact
became apparent when Edward Snowden, a former CIA employee, became a whistleblower and
revealed mass surveillance programs happening in the United Statesand other countries where the
communications of all citizens, and all the data therein, are being recorded and collected at all times
(Snowden). While some have been suspecting that this has been happening for years, this is the first
time that concrete evidence has been revealed to prove that government surveillance occurs in the
modern era. This revelation no doubt was controversial with many citizens feeling many different
ways about it. The popular street artist Banksy decided to do a piece about government surveillance
where there are three men with various recording equipment surrounding a phone booth and
recording what is happening within the phone booth. I believe that this art piece effectively points
out the underlying problems with both the very idea of government surveillance. Banksy s piece is

Examples Of Social Identity In 12 Angry Men
3. Social identity (10 points): What role(s) does social identity play in the movie? Discuss SID in
relationship of the jury to the accused. (Define your terms and give two examples of how they
apply).
Social identity is a theory which explains how people develop a sense of belong and membership
to a group. Individual s social identity is part of their self concept which derives from their
knowledge of their membership of a social group together with the emotional significance
attached to that membership (Forsyth, 13). People are influenced on the group they belong to.
Belonging to the in group makes a person feel good because they belong somewhere in this group
and allows them to feel important. The out group is where people feel to be, they do not belong to
a group and have feeling of exclusion and are often times treated more harshly than someone who
belongs to the ingroup. This bias of favoring the ingroup relative to the outgroup leads to false
impressions being made and stereotypes forming. Stereotypes help us navigate the world around us
by providing a quick representation of what we think a person is like. This does not mean our
perceptions are always correct and occasionally, this quick mental shortcut can get us into trouble.
For example, the film 12 Angry Men stereotyping was rampant among the jury. When a stereotype
is used it can cause a disruption of procedures. Instead, of inspecting all the evidence with an
objective eye a bias can allow for systematic

Climate elements (temperature, humidity, sunshine hours, wind speed, rainfall) and their
interaction with other physical features determine the hydrological process such as rainfall, runoff,

Jeanne Louise Dumont Farrenc.
Jeanne Louise Dumont Farrenc; born May 31st, 1804 in Paris, was a virtuosa pianist, teacher, and
French composer who started out during the early romantic era but remained unknown to the world.
She comes from a very large dynasty of famous sculptors; such as her brother, Augustin Alexandre
Dumont, her father, Jacques Edme Dumont, her grandfather, Edme Dumont, her great grandfather,
François Dumont, and her great great grandfather, Pierre Dumont.
She began her piano studies at an early age along with Cecile Soria, who was a former student of
Muzio Clementi. When her abilities in the world of professional pianists became quite clear, she
was given the chance to learn from several masters, such as Ignaz Moscheles and Johann Nepomuk
Hummel. In 1819, at 15 years of age, she managed to study with Anton Reicha, the composition
teacher at the Conservatoire; due to the talents she showed as a composer. Although, during this
time, composition classes were open only to men; and not women.
Louise Farrenc; just like many others, managed to fall through the cracks because throughout the
19th century, the opinion of the French musical was dominated solely by opera; which meant
French composers were not able to obtain any sort of reputation, whether good or bad, without first
achieving a fairly reasonable amount of success in the opera. However, [any] composer...bold

NRS 429v Family Centered Health Promotion 03 11 2012 America s university population is both
culturally and generationally diverse. Each student has his or her own unique approach and style of
learning. These differences may not always mesh with the conventional educational methods
practiced at the collegiate level. As the demographics of the collegiate population continue to

This approach takes more time, and often the learner must set aside several hours of study time
in order to fully grasp what is expected of her (VARK 2012). Comparatively, a read and write
score of four was too low of a score to be considered as a bi modality asset, and was mildly
suggestive of mediocre success at the collegiate level. Kinesthetic learners must translate into the
read and write mode. The author is in disagreement with this concept. She believes that the read
and write mode is a dominant learning preference as well. Current study techniques include note
taking, extra reading, and composing discussion question responses for class. A score of three in
the aural category states a potential disadvantage for learning, especially at the university level as
this technique is widely used in Western education. This result is less worrisome, because the
author is involved in an online learning environment, which has little emphasis on the aural
modality. A score of zero in the visual category carries a strong recommendation to avoid that mode
of learning. This analysis is also incorrect as the author utilizes underlining, highlighters, and
symbols as learning aides when studying (VARK 2012). The VARK Personal Learning Profile
concludes the author s greatest weakness is visual learning. This is where study habits must be
revised and changed to meet current academic needs. Grand Canyon University

City Of Thieves Character Analysis
In the novel, City of Thieves by David Benioff, two characters meet by fate and endure a
dangerous quest for their lives. Lev Beniov, a young teenage Jew who was caught looting, meets
Kolya, a Russian deserter during the Nazi s siege of Leningrad. Lev and Kolya were both
arrested and given a chance to get their lives back by one task: find a dozen eggs for a Soviet
colonel in a few days to be granted freedom. Through this hunt for a dozen eggs, which is much
harder than it sounds due to scarcity of food during this time, two uncommon strangers unite
experiencing death, cannibals, and hardship. Throughout the course of the novel, many
hardships had to be overcome. Lev, although never really speaking about his father too much
after he was captured and killed by the NKVD, had to leave his city after being arrested for
ransacking a dead German pilot. On the other hand, Kolya was arrested and placed in the same
cell as Lev due to abandoning his unit. Together, after being assigned a mission to find a dozen
eggs for the Colonel s daughter s wedding, face other hardships such as cannibals, the freezing
cold, lack of food, and Lev s greatest fear: death. One instance is when the news that Lev s home
in Piter has been attacked by Nazis and the fear that his friends and family were gone. Also, Lev

why there are many small lakes in the mountains near Lake Tahoe, which is directly telling us

A Short Note On Diabetes And Its Effects On The Risk Of...
Diastolic dysfunction is observed in 40 60% of diabetics with heart failure, this occur through a
pathological processes that cause stiffening of the myocardium due to cross linking and
extracellular matrix deposition, hypertrophy, and neuronal abnormalities (Rakowski et al.,
1996), (Zile Brutsaert 2002), (Laing et al., 2003), (Drury et al., 2011), (Forbes Cooper 2013).
Many factors play a role in development of CVD in diabetes as dyslipidemia, poor glycemic
control that cause direct damage to myocardium, or affect through atherosclerotic process ,
while other factors are still controversial (Zile Brutsaert 2002), (Hogan et al., 2003), (Laing et al.,

testing has helped many innocent people that gave false confessions be free again. This trend
brings up the question of how were they able to give a false confession.
Using the example of the case of Damon Thibodaux, he was taken for questioning after a girl who
they were last seen with went missing. She was found strangled and naked (Leo, 2008). A homicide
officer took over the case, and Thibodaux was interrogated for several hours. Although Thibodaux
repeatedly said he knew nothing about the murder, the interrogation kept going, eventually the
officer was able to record a statement from Thibodaux pleading guilty of consensual and non
consensual sex with the victim, beating, and assassinating her. Thibodaux was condemned to
death, and was to spend fifteen years on death row and sixteen years in jail before DNA
examination confirmed that he was not guilty (Kassin, 2013). Thibodauxs exoneration proceeding
concluded that fatigue and exhaustion from the overnight search for the girl, the long interrogation,
psychological vulnerability, and fear of the death penalty led to the false confession by Thibodaux
(Leo, 2008). This case is a great example of

The Shawshank Redemption By Stephen King And Frank...
In the following paper, I will talk about the movie The Shawshank Redemption. I will include the
plot, characters, contrasting and comparing pieces of information from the book to the movie, and
the lesson I gained from this assignment.
The Shawshank Redemption was written and directed by Authors Stephen King and Frank Darabont
in 1994. The scene takes place at Shawshank Prison located in Maine. The film tells the story of
Andy Dufresne, a quiet banker who is sentenced to life in the penitentiary for the murder of his
wife and her secret lover. During his time at the prison, Andy becomes friends with a fellow
inmate, Ellis Boyd Red Redding and he finds himself protected by the guards after Warden Norton
begins using him in his money laundering operation.
In 1947 Portland, Maine, banker Andy Dufresne is convicted of murdering his wife and her secret
lover, and is sentenced to two consecutive life sentences at the Shawshank State Penitentiary. Red
procures a rock hammer and later a large poster of Rita Hayworth for Andy. Working in the prison
laundry, Andy is regularly assaulted by the Sisters and their leader, Bogs.
During an outdoor work detail, Andy overhears the captain of the guards, Byron Hadley,
complaining about being taxed on an inheritance, and offers to help him legally shelter the money
from the IRS. After an assault by the Sisters nearly kills Andy, Hadley beats Bogs severely enough
that he never walks nor eats solid foods again, and is transferred to a

Bourgeoisie Vs Proletariat
In The Communist Manifesto, Karl Marx defines bourgeoisie and proletariat. Bourgeoisie is the
class of modern Capitalists, who were owners of the means of social production and employers.
Even though Marx believed that proletariat would take over, he states that historically the
bourgeoisie has played a most revolutionary role. When bourgeoisie had the upper hand, it ended
all feudal, patriarchal, idyllic relations. The bourgeoisie introduced an ethic based on the absolute
right to free trade and to the rational and egoistic pursuit of profit. The proletariat, which was
developed as a result of the bourgeoisie, is the class of modern wage laborers who have no means
of productionof their own, have become reduced to selling their labor power

Analysis Of Moby Dick By Herman Melville
There is wisdom that is woe but there is a woe that is madness. Herman Melville. Moby Dick is a
novel that was written by Herman Melville, during the American Renaissance. Melville was an
American novelist, short story writer, and a poet. Melville was influenced in his writing career by
many people such as, William Shakespeare (Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet), Nathaniel Hawthorne
(The Scarlett Letter, The House of Seven Gables), and Edgar Allen Poe (The Raven, The Fall of
the House of Usher). He was also a whaler for approximately 3 4 years. While Melville was on a
whaling voyage he heard a story, from Hawthorne, about a terrorizing whale. Hawthorne had
also mentioned the ship named, The Essex. Details about the accounts which took place on the
Essex, a whaling ship from Nantucket under the command of George Pollard Jr., interested
Melville. The Essex was an old ship which sank in 1820, due to an attack from the whale. Many
of the voyages on the Essex were profitable so she gained the reputation as a lucky vessel. The
story of Moby Dick is not new to the silver screen. When it was first released in 1851, reviewers
trashed it. The Athenaeum (London literary magazine) wrote, This is an ill compounded mixture
of romance and matter of fact . Prior to the new movie In the Heart of the Sea , there are 12
different versions of Moby Dick. Ron Howard, director and producer of the new movie In the
Heart of the Sea told IMDB (Internet Movie Database) that it was always his dream

Importance Of Countermeasures For Social Networking
Countermeasures for Social Networking Because social networking has exploded in popularity
so quickly, companies and individuals have not had much time to deal with the problems the
technology has brought to bear. Surveys taken in recent years have found that many companies
either do not have a policy in place regarding social networking or are unaware of the risks.
Recently, however, people are slowly starting to become aware of how big the danger is and that
they need to take steps to protect themselves. Company policies should touch on appropriate
usage of social media and networking sites at work as well as the kind of conduct and language
an employee is allowed to use on the sites. Currently about 40 percent of companies have
implemented a social networking policy; the rest have either suggested doing so or are not doing
anything. Many individuals and companies have been burned or heard about someone else getting
burned and have decided to do something about the issue. Social networking can be used relatively
safely and securely as long as it is used carefully. Exercising some basic safety measures can
substantially reduce the risk of using these services. Consider recommending and training users on
the following practices: Discourage the practice of mixing personal and professional information in
social networking. Although you may not be able to eliminate the company information that is
shared, it should be kept to a bare minimum. Always verify contacts, and

Independent Practice Worksheet, those students may revisit the text to find specific examples.
As an extension or to build background knowledge after reading the book, tell the students another
reason why people cry that is not in the book they are cutting onions. When you cut an onion, it
releases oil that can get in your eye and irritate or bother your tear glands. Your tear glands produce
tears, so you can cry, even if you are not sad. You can avoid crying while cutting an onion by
putting the onion under water while you are cutting it so the oil does not get to your eyes.

Sao Paulo
Good Day Mr. Brown, You recently had asked me to find the risk assessment about Sao Paulo
and this is what I have found. I believe you and the rest of my co workers will enjoy it there but
there are certain places in Sao Paulo that are still dangerous especially in the day time while if
you and the Thomson Reuters team travel to the Central areas in Sao Paulo it is very dangerous
at night. I needed to inform you that the crime rates have decreased since 2011 but the level of
crime is very high calculating to 86.30%, also armed robberies are very common. Crime does
indeed continues to be the ultimate threats to visitors. The Central Sao Paolo is safe in the day
time but be aware that pickpocketing often happens at Praca de Se when you are either... Show

Every year, natural disasters kill people. They have a few dangerous insects found In the
Amazon and health hazards, can mostly come from mosquitoes. The flood watch really occurs
when the rain is pouring extremely heavy causing mudslides, falling trees, swollen rivers, and
hills collapsing due to already saturated soil making houses and buildings unstable to stand still.
Sao Paolo have different alternatives such as using the trains, buses, taxis, or subways to get
around. The roads aren t very safe to drive on Sao Paolo. Taxis are very cheap but to avoid
getting anything personal taken from you have your windows wind up. There are 3 main bus
terminals in Sao Paulo which are Terminal Rodoviario do Tiete, Rodoviario da Barra Funda and
Rodoviario de Jabaqara. Buses would be more accessible, a little safer and prices stay the same
because if you take the subway or even the train it closes at midnight during the week and 1 am
on Saturdays. There are three major airports in Sao Paolo which are Guarulhos International
(GRU) and Viracopos (IATA:VCP or CPQ) both airports travel to domestic and international
areas while Congonhas (CGH) only has medium and short haul flights. The best two places to
stay are the Sao Paolo Lodge Business Hostel and Mercure Sao Paolo Jardins Hotel. It is very
close to all 3 airports both driving and taking the train. Mr. Brown do remember when staying at
the hotel to place your personal belongings into the safe and not to not leave it with the
receptionist. My biggest concern while in Sao Paolo to avoid getting sick or getting any dengue
fever is watching the food you eat and the water or liquids you drink. Sao Paolo is a great city but
please take precaution traveling at night by yourself or even having valuables on you in the day

  • 2. Difference Between Digital Reading And Digital Reading Digital Reading vs. Printed Reading For a person who loves to read, I could never imagine myself reading on a screen when it comes to the choice of print or digital reading. Whether it is for research, schoolwork, or just for fun, the articles I find online only encourages me to print them so that I could have a physical copy in my hands. That s when the inseparable feeling occurs to me: I feel more of an attachment between the physical copy of the text and myself. I become so indulged in the text that my surroundings disappear. I can ultimately understand what I m reading and grasp all the book s pearls. Many people who enjoy reading can reminisce with the same feelings that I have experienced. Even many of those who read for the sake of completing a task can admit that there s not much of a strain when comparing print to digital reading. This is why reading from a book is still a necessity in our daily lives: it allows for a better grasp of information, greater memory production, and an enjoyable experience that the reader can always appreciate. When we read from books, our brains can attain more information at a more accurate and faster rate, resulting in greater scores when displaying comprehension skills in the long run. Lauren Singer and Patricia Alexander, scholars of University of Maryland, proves this instance in their experiment, Reading Across Mediums: Effects of Reading Digital and Print Texts on Comprehension and Calibration (2016). The study consisted of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There was concern right away that computers would be used inappropriately to the detriment of society compromising information security, or that they would replace humans in many jobs, resulting in widespread job loss. Ethics Guidelines or rules of conduct that govern our lives, work, behavior and communication in both public and private undertaking. You should not try to bypass this authorization system. Hacking a system to break and bypass the authorization is unethical. 8) Thou shalt not appropriate other people s intellectual output: For example, the programs you write for the projects assigned in this course are your own intellectual output. Copying somebody else s program without proper authorization is software piracy and is unethical. Intellectual property is a form of ownership, and may be protected by copyright laws. 9) Thou shalt think about the social consequences of the program you write: You have to think about computer issues in a more general social framework: Can the program you write be used in a way that is harmful to society? Especially in areas away from the coast, they fought in a fierce way. In the end, most of Somalia came to be under the control of Britain, France or Italy. World War II brought about further fighting in the region, as Somalia s ocean access is strategic. After World War II, Italy, Britain and USA remained involved in governing Somalia. In 1960, the Somali Republic was established with a civilian government. In 1969, Mohamed Barre seized power and became the ruler of Somalia. He ushered in socialist views of nationalized businesses and cooperative farms. Government positions in his regime went to clans loyal to him, despite his regime s outwardly anti clan laws. The Cold War further complicated matters in Somalia. Both the West and the Soviet Union believed the area to be of strategic importance. Hence weapons and humanitarian and financial aid come into Somalia from outside governments. In my mind, the model minority myth has always been in place and completely stable. I never knew that a majority of Vietnamese American youth experienced gang related violence, extreme poverty, numerous stereotypes, and even depression. I never knew how common all of these problems were within their community. In addition, their problems existed even within their own families through generational conflicts and cultural differences. These problems are real, and occur within real families, real communities. These problems are overlooked by almost everyone, and it saddened me that barely anyone bothered to address these problems. It was then, that I realized that I was part of the problem. I needed to be aware of what is going on around me, and what I have to do to help. I must analyze and address the problem. The Vietnamese Youth Development Center is an organization that provides assistance for refugees and immigrants, typically low income families. These youth are experiencing problems with their mental health, gang violence and racism, poverty, and problems with their familial relationships. Through previous studies, it has been suspected that Neanderthals, who are a close common ancestor to modern humans, lived in parts of Asia and Europe. Speculations surrounding whether or not modern humans interbred or simply co existed with Neanderthals has been a highly regarded topic. If interbreeding did occur, it would suggest that modern humans did in fact partly evolve from genetic variations with Neanderthals. In one study, this question is explored even further using information from the Neanderthal genome (Wall et al. 2013). Data was gathered based on admixture (interbreeding) rates between Neanderthals, East Asians, and Europeans using the Denisova genome (bone fragments found in the mountains of Siberia and Russia) (Wall et al. 2013). After comparison, the results found varying admixture rates among the different populations. For example, the rate of admixture was 40% higher with East Asians than Europeans (Wall et al. 2013). This statement supports our belief that cheerleading should not be considered a sport. Cheer leading, the leading of cheers at sporting events is not a sport. Entertainment, versus athleticism, is more of what cheerleading is. Team supporters are present at games/events to raise school spirit and encourage cheering. Cheerleading generally requires a competition to be in progress, so the cheerleading itself can occur. This is not an activity which can take place alone. While there are some aspects of dancing and gymnastics involved, the purpose is to cheer at sporting events, not to be an event itself. Although it is not a sport, it is worthy of praise on its merits as entertainment. Much thanks to cheerleaders, fans come to support their friends and school in the event of competitions. One who ... • 21. My Sister Letter It is difficult to even begin this letter, little sister, because I simply don t know where to start. We have been through plenty of trials and tribulations and I know very well how mature you are for your young age but there remain some pieces of the story that you don t know of. I am not here to tell you of them, but there are some things that are impossible to understand without an outside nudge, and I hope that in doing this you will come to accept the things I tell you, so that when certain pieces come to light, you may look upon it without pain. People are not perfect. People are not always kind. People are not always well intentioned. And the truth is: our parents are people too. You know this because despite all that I have done in my attempts to shield you, you have seen them upset. You have seen them weep. You have seen them scream. You have watched our mother starving herself, disappear for hours at a time after haphazardly throwing about words of death. You have watched our father shut down, sleep for days, become frustrated at himself and at the world. You have sat with your brother and I in a police car as our father was taken to prison, cried without understanding as our mother wept, hidden as we have hidden. You were pulled into this world without wanting any of this, without knowing it, and only with our brother and I to guide your confusion as you came into the middle of the crisis. The problem is well, the problem is that since our parents are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 23. Steven Spielberg s Classic Saving Private Ryan A film genre is a motion picture category based on similarities in either the narrative elements or the emotional response to the film. While films have at least one major genre, there are a number of films that are considered crossbreeds or hybrids with three or four coinciding genre or sub genre types that they can be identified with them and most can be filed into categories that are easily recognizable to audiences (Goodykoontz Jacobs, 1998, p. 4.1). However, ever so seldom a film comes along that breaks free of its invisible bounds of genre and it leaves the audiences confused about the actual existence of genre. One such film is a film that most are familiar with Steven Spielbergs classic Saving Private Ryan. Saving Private Ryan will always be remembered among the best war movies ever made. It does what every prodigious war movie should, it takes a realistic look at war and shows us the horrific side of war intelligently. The plot is marvelously original; eight men are sent behind enemy lines to rescue one soldier, Private Ryan (Matt Damon). Ryan is the only remaining son in his family; his three brothers have all died in action recently. Gen. George Marshall is so touched by Mrs. Ryan s dilemma, who unfortunately learns of the deaths of her three sons on the same day, and orders that her only remaining heir, Ryan, be returned home immediately. • 24. Mark Antony And Popular Culture Mark Antony and Popular Culture: Masculinity and the Construction of an Icon by Rachael Kelly, is a pathbreaking analysis of how Antony (the pop culture icon, hopeless lover and drunkard) differs so substantially from Antonius (the historical figure, esteemed general and statesman). Kelly successfully lays out with great quality and depth how the mythology itself performs a deeper socio cultural function. In order to further examine and engage with this idea, this informative and original study employs a socio ideological analysis of a series of seven culturally resonating screen texts dating from, for example, Cleopatra (Cecil B DeMille, 1934) to the television series Rome (HBO, BBC, RAI, RAI2, 2005 2007). However, this exemplar book still greatly contributes to the fields of gender, history and media by taking gender studies to a new direction by probing the purpose and boundaries of hegemonic masculinity within Western cultural and political discourse. The Tragic Character of Blanche Dubois in A Streetcar Named Desire *No Works Cited To state the obvious, a tragic agent is one that is the subject of a tragic event or happening. In A Streetcar Named Desire, Blanche Dubois is this agent. She experiences numerous things, and has certain dynamics that solidify her tragic elements. Many essayists describe these elements and they give clear conceptions of her tragic nature. Aristotle has written of many qualities one must have in order to fit in the tragic category. Firstly, Aristotle contends that a tragic agent must be of the nobility . Her reversal comes when her sister s husband, Stanley, suddenly rapes her. Though all this time Blanche sought a smooth and new sexual lifestyle, she once again engages in a sexual deviance. These three things are what make Aristotle s tragic agent a truth in Tennessee Williamsplay. As if Blanche DuBois hadn t embodied enough of one s idea of a tragic agent, Arthur Schopenhauer finds more qualities in her that further the inclination that she was meant for tragedy. Schopenhauer alludes to two main ideas that Blanche applies to. The first being that of desire. Desire brought Blanche to Elysian Fields in two ways: literally on a streetcar named Desire, and conceptually as an escape from past horrors and the want to seek a better life. Desire is the one vice that Schopenhauer believes is the end all be all destruction of an agent. As long as one continues to have desires, that agent will continue down his or her path of inevitable destruction. Which brings him to the next point: Resignation. Resignation is the act of cutting off all desires one might have. It is a final action one completes when they completely cleanse themselves of their greedy desires. Blanche does this in her last line, Whoever you are I have always depended on the kindness of strangers. In the last scene, Blanche has continued to fool herself and attempt to fool others by telling stories of Shep Huntleigh coming to take her on a cruise. She obviously has not resigned the ... While some have been suspecting that this has been happening for years, this is the first time that concrete evidence has been revealed to prove that government surveillance occurs in the modern era. This revelation no doubt was controversial with many citizens feeling many different ways about it. (Define your terms and give two examples of how they apply). Social identity is a theory which explains how people develop a sense of belong and membership to a group. Individual s social identity is part of their self concept which derives from their knowledge of their membership of a social group together with the emotional significance attached to that membership (Forsyth, 13). People are influenced on the group they belong to. Belonging to the in group makes a person feel good because they belong somewhere in this group and allows them to feel important. The out group is where people feel to be, they do not belong to a group and have feeling of exclusion and are often times treated more harshly than someone who belongs to the ingroup. This bias of favoring the ingroup relative to the outgroup leads to false impressions being made and stereotypes forming. Stereotypes help us navigate the world around us by providing a quick representation of what we think a person is like. This does not mean our perceptions are always correct and occasionally, this quick mental shortcut can get us into trouble. For example, the film 12 Angry Men stereotyping was rampant among the jury. When a stereotype is used it can cause a disruption of procedures. Instead, of inspecting all the evidence with an objective eye a bias can allow for systematic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Jeanne Louise Dumont Farrenc; born May 31st, 1804 in Paris, was a virtuosa pianist, teacher, and French composer who started out during the early romantic era but remained unknown to the world. She comes from a very large dynasty of famous sculptors; such as her brother, Augustin Alexandre Dumont, her father, Jacques Edme Dumont, her grandfather, Edme Dumont, her great grandfather, François Dumont, and her great great grandfather, Pierre Dumont. She began her piano studies at an early age along with Cecile Soria, who was a former student of Muzio Clementi. When her abilities in the world of professional pianists became quite clear, she was given the chance to learn from several masters, such as Ignaz Moscheles and Johann Nepomuk Hummel. In 1819, at 15 years of age, she managed to study with Anton Reicha, the composition teacher at the Conservatoire; due to the talents she showed as a composer. Although, during this time, composition classes were open only to men; and not women. Louise Farrenc; just like many others, managed to fall through the cracks because throughout the 19th century, the opinion of the French musical was dominated solely by opera; which meant French composers were not able to obtain any sort of reputation, whether good or bad, without first achieving a fairly reasonable amount of success in the opera. This approach takes more time, and often the learner must set aside several hours of study time in order to fully grasp what is expected of her (VARK 2012). Comparatively, a read and write score of four was too low of a score to be considered as a bi modality asset, and was mildly suggestive of mediocre success at the collegiate level. Kinesthetic learners must translate into the read and write mode. The author is in disagreement with this concept. She believes that the read and write mode is a dominant learning preference as well. Current study techniques include note taking, extra reading, and composing discussion question responses for class. A score of three in the aural category states a potential disadvantage for learning, especially at the university level as this technique is widely used in Western education. This result is less worrisome, because the author is involved in an online learning environment, which has little emphasis on the aural modality. A score of zero in the visual category carries a strong recommendation to avoid that mode of learning. This analysis is also incorrect as the author utilizes underlining, highlighters, and symbols as learning aides when studying (VARK 2012). The VARK Personal Learning Profile concludes the author s greatest weakness is visual learning. This is where study habits must be revised and changed to meet current academic needs. People who often fall into this trap are juveniles or those with a diminished mental capacity (Redlich, 2009). DNA testing has helped many innocent people that gave false confessions be free again. This trend brings up the question of how were they able to give a false confession. Using the example of the case of Damon Thibodaux, he was taken for questioning after a girl who they were last seen with went missing. She was found strangled and naked (Leo, 2008). A homicide officer took over the case, and Thibodaux was interrogated for several hours. Although Thibodaux repeatedly said he knew nothing about the murder, the interrogation kept going, eventually the officer was able to record a statement from Thibodaux pleading guilty of consensual and non consensual sex with the victim, beating, and assassinating her. Thibodaux was condemned to death, and was to spend fifteen years on death row and sixteen years in jail before DNA examination confirmed that he was not guilty (Kassin, 2013). Thibodauxs exoneration proceeding concluded that fatigue and exhaustion from the overnight search for the girl, the long interrogation, psychological vulnerability, and fear of the death penalty led to the false confession by Thibodaux (Leo, 2008). This case is a great example of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I will include the plot, characters, contrasting and comparing pieces of information from the book to the movie, and the lesson I gained from this assignment. The Shawshank Redemption was written and directed by Authors Stephen King and Frank Darabont in 1994. The scene takes place at Shawshank Prison located in Maine. During an outdoor work detail, Andy overhears the captain of the guards, Byron Hadley, complaining about being taxed on an inheritance, and offers to help him legally shelter the money from the IRS. After an assault by the Sisters nearly kills Andy, Hadley beats Bogs severely enough that he never walks nor eats solid foods again, and is transferred to a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Bourgeoisie Vs Proletariat In The Communist Manifesto, Karl Marx defines bourgeoisie and proletariat. Bourgeoisie is the class of modern Capitalists, who were owners of the means of social production and employers. Even though Marx believed that proletariat would take over, he states that historically the bourgeoisie has played a most revolutionary role. When bourgeoisie had the upper hand, it ended all feudal, patriarchal, idyllic relations. The bourgeoisie introduced an ethic based on the absolute right to free trade and to the rational and egoistic pursuit of profit. The proletariat, which was developed as a result of the bourgeoisie, is the class of modern wage laborers who have no means of productionof their own, have become reduced to selling their labor power ... • 44. Analysis Of Moby Dick By Herman Melville There is wisdom that is woe but there is a woe that is madness. Herman Melville. Moby Dick is a novel that was written by Herman Melville, during the American Renaissance. Melville was an American novelist, short story writer, and a poet. Melville was influenced in his writing career by many people such as, William Shakespeare (Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet), Nathaniel Hawthorne (The Scarlett Letter, The House of Seven Gables), and Edgar Allen Poe (The Raven, The Fall of the House of Usher). He was also a whaler for approximately 3 4 years. While Melville was on a whaling voyage he heard a story, from Hawthorne, about a terrorizing whale. Hawthorne had also mentioned the ship named, The Essex. Details about the accounts which took place on the Essex, a whaling ship from Nantucket under the command of George Pollard Jr., interested Melville. The Essex was an old ship which sank in 1820, due to an attack from the whale. Many of the voyages on the Essex were profitable so she gained the reputation as a lucky vessel. The story of Moby Dick is not new to the silver screen. When it was first released in 1851, reviewers trashed it. The Athenaeum (London literary magazine) wrote, This is an ill compounded mixture of romance and matter of fact . Prior to the new movie In the Heart of the Sea , there are 12 different versions of Moby Dick. Ron Howard, director and producer of the new movie In the Heart of the Sea told IMDB (Internet Movie Database) that it was always his dream ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Importance Of Countermeasures For Social Networking Countermeasures for Social Networking Because social networking has exploded in popularity so quickly, companies and individuals have not had much time to deal with the problems the technology has brought to bear. Surveys taken in recent years have found that many companies either do not have a policy in place regarding social networking or are unaware of the risks. Recently, however, people are slowly starting to become aware of how big the danger is and that they need to take steps to protect themselves. Company policies should touch on appropriate usage of social media and networking sites at work as well as the kind of conduct and language an employee is allowed to use on the sites. Currently about 40 percent of companies have implemented a social networking policy; the rest have either suggested doing so or are not doing anything. Many individuals and companies have been burned or heard about someone else getting burned and have decided to do something about the issue. Social networking can be used relatively safely and securely as long as it is used carefully. Exercising some basic safety measures can substantially reduce the risk of using these services. Consider recommending and training users on the following practices: Discourage the practice of mixing personal and professional information in social networking. Although you may not be able to eliminate the company information that is shared, it should be kept to a bare minimum. Always verify contacts, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 47. Sao Paulo Good Day Mr. Brown, You recently had asked me to find the risk assessment about Sao Paulo and this is what I have found. I believe you and the rest of my co workers will enjoy it there but there are certain places in Sao Paulo that are still dangerous especially in the day time while if you and the Thomson Reuters team travel to the Central areas in Sao Paulo it is very dangerous at night. I needed to inform you that the crime rates have decreased since 2011 but the level of crime is very high calculating to 86.30%, also armed robberies are very common. Crime does indeed continues to be the ultimate threats to visitors. The Central Sao Paolo is safe in the day time but be aware that pickpocketing often happens at Praca de Se when you are either... The flood watch really occurs when the rain is pouring extremely heavy causing mudslides, falling trees, swollen rivers, and hills collapsing due to already saturated soil making houses and buildings unstable to stand still. Sao Paolo have different alternatives such as using the trains, buses, taxis, or subways to get around. The roads aren t very safe to drive on Sao Paolo. Taxis are very cheap but to avoid getting anything personal taken from you have your windows wind up. There are 3 main bus terminals in Sao Paulo which are Terminal Rodoviario do Tiete, Rodoviario da Barra Funda and Rodoviario de Jabaqara. Buses would be more accessible, a little safer and prices stay the same because if you take the subway or even the train it closes at midnight during the week and 1 am on Saturdays. There are three major airports in Sao Paolo which are Guarulhos International (GRU) and Viracopos (IATA:VCP or CPQ) both airports travel to domestic and international areas while Congonhas (CGH) only has medium and short haul flights. The best two places to stay are the Sao Paolo Lodge Business Hostel and Mercure Sao Paolo Jardins Hotel. It is very close to all 3 airports both driving and taking the train. Mr. Brown do remember when staying at the hotel to place your personal belongings into the safe and not to not leave it with the receptionist. My biggest concern while in Sao Paolo to avoid getting sick or getting any dengue fever is watching the food you eat and the water or liquids you drink.
