Don Quixote s Arrest For The Holy Brotherhood
The people at the inn play along with Don Quixote s insistence that the basin is actually
Mambrino s helmet. A huge fight breaks out, but Don Quixote finally ends the brawl by asking
the priest and the judge to calm everyone. The judge decides to bring Don Louis to Andalusia
along with him and Clara, and he tells the servants about his plan. A member of the Holy
Brotherhood, attracted to the scene by the outbreak of violence, realizes that he has a warrant for
Don Quixotes arrest for freeing the galley slaves. Don Quixote laughs at the man and rails about the
stupidity of trying to arrest a knight errant. The priest pacifies the members of the Holy
Brotherhood by convincing them that Don Quixote is insane and should not be held accountable
for his actions.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The barber and priest contrive a plan to get Don Quixote back to their village without the help of
Dorothea and Ferdinand. They build a cage, capture Don Quixote, bind him, and place him in the
cage on the back of an ox cart. The barber then pretends to be a sage and predicts Don Quixote s
valorous return to his village and his reunion and marriage to Dulcinea. Don Quixote accepts the
enchantment that he believes is afflicting him but wonders why he travels so slowly. He concludes
that enchantments must have changed since the old days, when knights were whisked away on
clouds and traveled at very high speeds. Sancho warns Don Quixote that he is not enchanted, but
Don Quixote does not believe him. As the group leaves, the innkeeper gives the priest some papers
from the trunk the unknown man left at the inn. The priest is anxious to read

Tornado Short Story
A Tragic Surprise
The flowers were blooming, the birds were chirping, and the sun was shining on May 10, 2003.
My family and I were about to make a shopping trip to Walmart in Hannibal, Missouri. My older
brother, Darin, decided not to go because he, like most teenagers , did not want to spend his
Saturday night with his parents and younger brothers and sister. As we pulled out of the driveway
dad turned on the radio to 104.7 KRES Country. Immediately the broadcaster is giving a weather
report saying, There is a likely chance of severe storms this afternoon and a tornado watch is in
effect until 8:00 PM. It was already getting dark in the west and the wind was starting to pick up.
My mom then asks, Do you think we should leave Darin at home with the storm rolling in? Dad
answers saying, I doubt it will amount to much, he will be fine. Just as we are about to turn onto
Highway 36 dad stops the car. What are you doing? mom asks. Something is telling me to go
back and make him go with us. Dad says. He then turns the 2001 tan minivan around to coax
Darin to go with us. Darin is clearly displeased when dad makes him get into the vehicle. Why do
we have to go to Walmart anyways? he asks. We have to pick out a Mothers Day gift for grandma.
There are also a lot of groceries we need to get. Mom replies. We arrived in Hannibal in less than 15
minutes and had a couple of Mother s Day cards picked out in no time. What else do we need .
Dad asks mom. Mainly just some

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Luggage
If you are a frequent traveller, the luggage that you carry can go a long way into giving you the
best travel experience but there is so many different types of luggage from carry ons, duffle bags,
luggage sets and suitcases,.Finding what is right for you requires some time to research the
different options and how they suit your needs. Here is a buying guide to help you arrive at the
right luggagefor you. Before delving deeper into the features, pros, and cons of different types of
luggage, there are a couple of things that you will need to look at first.
1. Think about how will you using the luggage
Are you looking for luggage for flying, driving or going on a cruise or a holiday? Are you a

Of the two, ABS is lighter, it also happens to be more durable than polycarbonate. Hard sided
luggage designed like a clamshell, double the packing volume because there are basically two sides
giving your things more space.
There are benefits and disadvantages for using hard sided luggage. They virtually protect
whatever is packed inside. If you have breakables in your bag, they are most likely to stay safe. A
lot of plastic composite luggage have zipper attached to open and close. Zippers are a little
vulnerable. Some hard sided luggage employ metallic draw bolt latch which won t give way. If
you buy a set, you will see how easily you can stack bags. The bad thing about these types of
luggage is that they scuff and scratch very easily.
Wheeling your bags around
Wheels are great, even small backpacks have wheels that come in handy when picking up your
luggage you can make sure that this is not back breaking when there are wheels. You basically
have two options in this regard: a two wheeler or a four wheeler luggage. If you want something
that is easy to maneuver then a four wheeler that can be pushed and pulled in all directions. You can
navigate your way and take the beauty and interesting views that the country has to

Relationship Between A Parent And Child Relationship
Throughout history human behavior has held a continuing fascination for artists of all kinds. The
way in which human beings relate to one another has been a source of inspiration to painters,
sculptors, authors, composers, playwrights, filmmakers and photographers alike.
Relationships between people vary from the everyday dynamics and the significance in which they
value one another and each connection between those relationships makes a different impact on the
one of someone else. There are many relationships people form throughout their lives, for instance
the primary relationships at the start of their lives, between parent and child, and siblings, which
start in the home. A relationship between a parent and child has a special unspoken bond in which
they share indescribable love, never ending care and affection for each other, as the parent is the
only depended and reliable thing they have. A good parent and child relationship can teach a child
how to form other bonds with mutual respect and admiration, such as friendships further on in life.
As people grow and develop, they form secondary connections such as friendships and intimate
relationships.
Friendships are predominantly built on trust, even as young children. Interaction with peers helps to
strengthen character and introduces a sense of belonging with others rather than family. Children
are naturally trusting, which means they form bonds with one another instinctively. As they get
older and gain knowledge,

Population-Focused Health Plan Paper
Population Focused Health Plan Physical activity is a very important aspect of an individual s life.
There are many health benefits to being physically active. Living an active life helps to prevent and
lower the risk of chronic diseases such as diabetes, obesity, depression, and heart disease (Tuso,
2015). Healthy People 2020 (2018) states that about 80% of adults and adolescents do not meet the
physical activity guidelines. Staying active may be difficult if there are no community resources to
help. The intention of this paper is to implement interventions within Paulding County that will help
increase physical activity among community members. A community assessment in Paulding

Essay On Dye Sensitized Solar Cells
In 1991, a major breakthrough has come in the field of solar photovoltaic known as dye
sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) [1]. This kind of solar cells possess low cost and simple functioning
together with their advantageous characteristics such as lightweight, flexible, low toxicity and good
performance in diverse light conditions [2]. Usually DSSC s consists of dye adsorbed
nanostructured metal oxidefilm serving as a photoanode, a Pt coated counter electrode and liquid
electrolyte injected between them [3]. Light irradiate on the nanostructured metal oxide film causes
photo excitation of the dye molecules by exciting electrons which are then injected into the
conduction band of the semiconductor and fast transferred to the external circuit... Show more

Thus, numbers of articles devoted to ZnO photoelectrode with the aim to enhance efficiency by
reducing the charge carrier recombination, and improving electrical/optical performance [9 12]. In
this regard, doping is the most advantageous approach to modify ZnO structures. Different kind of
metals such as lanthanum [13], aluminum [14], tin [15], magnesium [16] and titanium [17] has
been widely investigated as effective dopants in ZnO photoelectrode for improving the
performance. Moreover, earlier reports on the DSSC have proven that the active area is directly
proportional to the power conversion efficiency [18]. Therefore, we attempted to incorporate
indium into ZnO to improve above cited aspects with an ideal working area (0.25cm2) of
photoanode in DSSC. Indium (In3+) was chosen as dopant, because it has a noteworthy
contribution in transparent conducting oxide materials and much work devoted in indium doped
ZnO as a transparent conducting oxide film [19 20]. Owing to their remarkable properties such as
high electronegativity, minute native lattice distortion with preferable chemical stability make
indium as suitable donor than other elements for finding high quality ZnO based transparent
conducting oxide with an excellent conductivity in DSSCs [21]. Rama Krishna Chava et al. used In
doped ZnO nanoparticles as photoanode material and reports carrier

Strategic Implementation Of The Community
As the organization is serving community its programs should be developed based on the actual
needs of the community. Strategic implementation can be made by aligning the programs with the
community priorities and needs. Therefore, guiding the programs by the comprehensively
identified needs of the community can lead the organization into a strategic process. The
community needs are dynamic and complex which can be changed through time and conditions.
Hence regular needs assessment and consultation of the community member can help to develop
community centered planning and implementation of programs. Similarly understanding the
government and donor s priority is a key to strategically design programs which enable these
donors to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

short in view of the limited experience of the staffs in this field. Furthermore, Eddie s did not

My Love Of Baseball
I Will Always Rationale
Boring. That is the first word that pops into someone s head when I ask them to describe this
beautiful sport. They either say the sport is too boring, too complicated, or just lengthy to both
watch and play. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, no doubt. But the sport of baseball is one
that has always mesmerized my brain when I play/look at it. It is perhaps the best metaphor to
describe life, and also the best metaphor to describe me.
Life is what you make of it. Baseball fits this phrase like peanut butter and jelly. Baseball
immediately popped into my head when thinking of a metaphor. There was a number of others,
but I felt like baseball truly fit the puzzle. I always pictured life as a sort of complex topic I
couldn t wrap my head around. Starting from a young age, my love for baseball has transitioned
into how I live my life and what I do. Since it is such a staple in my life, I think that it fits the I
Will Always phrase better than any other metaphor.
Baseball is a puzzle, and baseball players have to solve that puzzle. When I talked about swinging
the hardest at fastball challenges, I was talking about a common trait among all baseball players.
When standing at the mound, waiting for a pitch, despite the player knowing the skill of the pitcher,
he still tries with all his might to land a hit on the ball. When I get faced with challenges, I m not
one to back down. I m courageous, and will Swing very hard at challenges that

The Effect of John Keats Health on His Work Essay
The Effect of John Keats Health on His Work
In his elegy for the poet John Keats, Adonais, his friend and fellow
poet Percy Bysshe Shelley writes: With me / Died Adonais; till the Future dares
/ Forget the Past, his fate and fame shall be / An echo and a light unto
eternity (6 9). Shelley speaks of the eternal nature of Keats poetry, which,
although written at a specific time in literary history, addresses timeless
issues such as life, death, love, sorrow, and poetic expression. Keats lived
only twenty six years, but his poetry reflects a mind concerned with his own
place in the present and the future; he seemed to want most desperately to
belong to the world as a poet. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She returned when she was dying of tuberculosis,
and she (and her brother) did die of that disease in 1809 (Keats). Keats was,
therefore, a solitary child who grew very protective of his siblings. This
protectiveness of others is clear in his poetry as he tries to make sense of
death, grief, and suffering.
Keats sense that his role as a writer was to ease the suffering of
others is nowhere clearer than in Ode to a Nightingale, written in 1819. In
this poem he speaks to the lonely songbird, the nightingale, and says he envies
her ability to sing so beautifully. The nightingale sings because she is not a
part of the world of human suffering. As one critic writes, the viewless
(invisible) wings of Poesy transport the poet to the imagined world of the
nightingale while shutting out the view of the world s fever and fret
(Clark). Keats says he hopes that through the nightingale s song his own
humanity will fade, and he will forget his own troubles. He hopes to fade away
into the forest dim: / Fade far away, dissolve, and quite forget / . . . The
weariness, the fever, and the fret / Here, where men sit and hear each other
groan; / Where palsy shakes a few, sad, last grey hairs, / . .

Reactivities Of Reaction Lab
Question: What are the relative reactivities of the metals in the experiment and how can we
predict if the reaction will take place? Hypothesis: Metals with a lower electronegativity than the
cation of the solution will react. Metals have different degrees of reactivity based on how based
on how easily they can displace the cation in the solution. When a metal reacts with water, it
displaces hydrogen from the water molecule and forms a metal oxide. The same applies to other
solutions; as long as the metal forms a better cation (i.e. has lower electronegativity) than the cation
present in the solution, it can displace it and react. These reactions are categorized into single
displacement reactions because the metal presented as an element... Show more content on

If the metal has lower electronegativity than the cation in the aqueous solution, then the
reaction proceeds. For example, magnesium strips were inserted into a solution of 0.5 M HCl.
There was a rigorous reaction awhere bubbles and heat were produced. This inference is
supported by the difference in electronegativity between magnesium and hydrogen, whose values
are respectively 1.55 and 2.20. Magnesium has considerably lower electronegativity than that of
hydrogen, and could displace hydrogen from chloride to form MgCl. However, when an iron
nail was dipped into an aqueous solution of 0.5 M ZnSO4, no reaction occurred. This also can
be explained by their difference in electronegativity. Iron has an electronegativity of 1.83, but zinc
s value is 1.65. The other observations can be explained in this fashion. Therefore, the results
support my hypothesis, and my hypothesis is accepted for the experiment. The most obvious
confounding factor of the experiment is that I could not conduct the experiment myself and had to
rely on images of the reactions. Some of the images were unclear, so the observations I made
might be inaccurate. Moreover, the images showed only a single moment of the whole reaction, so
I could not watch the whole reaction occur and sometimes had to rely on my own intuition. For
example, when I saw large piles of precipitates and water droplets on

Achromatopsia Research Paper
I decided to choose Achromatopsia as my topic which deals with color perception. Many people
have different forms of color perception. Some people are completely color blind and others are
just lacking a few rods or cones which prevent them from seeing a few colors. Achromatopsia is
among the worst because people who have this may only see in grey or washed out colors.
Whereas, others can see some color and still seem to function normally. This disease can prevent
you from seeing all color, which makes it much more difficult to function in everyday life because
of the lack of color perception one may have.
Achromatopsia is a non progressive and hereditary visual disorder which is characterized by
decreased vision, light sensitivity, and the absence of color vision. In the U.S., it affects about 1 in
every 33,000 people. Achromatopsia is sometimes called Day Blindness , as these people see
better in subdued light. People with complete Achromatopsia will have reduced vision (20/200 or
less) due to an abnormality of the retina. They also have no color vision, sensitivity to light
(photophobia) and the presence of nystagmus (shaking of the eyes). People with incomplete or
partial Achromatopsia may have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the retina, there are three types of cells called cones that are responsible for normal color
vision. These are the red cones, the green cones, and the blue cones which can also be referred to
M, S, and L cones. A balanced distribution of these cells is necessary for the function of normal
color vision. A child born with non functioning cones will have Achromatopsia. Sometimes children
have a reduced complement of the cones, in which case they will have partial or incomplete
Achromatopsia. Achromatopsia is an inherited condition and so far, four genes (genetic markers
found on chromosomes) are known to be associated with this

The Themes Of Social Ideas In Charles Dickens Great...
What if someone else had written Great Expectations? What if Dickens had not been brought up in
England? What if everyone belonged to the same class and had no ambitions at all? Do you think
Great Expectations would have had same themes and ideas?
Although Great expectations is not an autobiographical novel, there are various elements that have
been influenced by Dickens own life. Various features of the Victorian period, for instance the class
differences and the effects of urbanization left a great impact on author s life and have found
resonance throughout the novel.
Class structure was an important element of the Victorian England. There were rigid divisions

The Innocence Of Emily In William Faulkner s A Rose For Emily
The Innocence of Emily William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily starts out at Emily s funeral and
then goes onto a story about taxes, which Miss Emily is exempt from paying for life by Colonel
Sartoris. During her life, Miss Emily s father kept her isolated and ran off any potential suitors
with a horsewhip. When her father died, Miss Emily refused to acknowledge the fact for three
days. Soon after, Miss Emily met and started dating Homer Barron, a northerner and a day
laborer. The town goes from being happy about the relationship to thinking of it as indecent.
Homer seemingly deserted Miss Emily shortly after she bought poison. All is quiet for the next
40 years until Miss Emily s death when Homer s corpse is found sealed in an upstairs room
(Faulkner 323 327). This paints a picture of a lonely, desperate woman. Miss Emily was isolated
with just a butler for company. That does not make her a murder. Emily Grierson is innocent of

The Corruption Of Jealousy In Shakespeare s Othello
Despite being written in 1603, William Shakespeare s Othello is a tragic tale of love, jealousy and
betrayal that still resonates with audiences today. No doubt it is shakespeare s greatest tragedies.
But of the many strong emotions and tragic elements in Othello, jealousy seems to be at the core of
all events in the story. Jealousyresults in hate, lies , betrayal, manipulation, and eventually to murder.
This play is about a Moore, Othello, who is a general in the army of Venice; an unusual position
for an African in a European society based on a strict racial and cultural hierarchy. Othello s

Health crises are indeed exogenous shocks having a significant impact on the turnover of luxury
companies. In 2002, following the SARS outbreak, the company Richmont (nВ°2 worldwide
luxury) saw its sales in East Asia and Southeast decrease over 8%. Indeed, in times of uncertainty,
consumers buy less luxuries, and secondly, the SARS crisis has resulted in a drop in tourism in
Asia, furthermore tourists are also privileged consumer products luxury because they have
sufficient purchasing power and luxury products are comparatively cheaper in less developed Asian
countries.
Financial risks appear more threatening on the Chinese economy. Needless to say that a
financial crisis would have serious consequences for the Chinese economy and mainly the
market for luxury products especially as the banking sector is the only way to finance the
economy in the absence of actually active financial markets (socialist economy requires). There
are two major factors of uncertainty: the overheating of the Chinese economy and the problem
of bad debts. These two phenomena are related, since it is the increase of credit (+30% on 2003),
which partly financed growth. However, the domestic national debt is already very high (190 %

Comparison Of Henry IV And A Midsummer Night s Dream
Throughout 1 Henry IV and A Midsummer Night s Dream Shakespeare employs the carnival
motif by subverting the social order. In fact, the crux of carnivals significance in both of the
plays is dependent on the topsy turvy shift that takes place. In 1 Henry IV, Falstaff would be the
Lord of Misrule. In A Midsummer Night s Dream, the topsy turvy night time world or the forest
contrasts the rational day time order of Athens. One of Mikhail Bakhtin s most famous works
Rabelais and His World deals with the event of carnival. Bakhtin begins by explaining that the
essence of carnival is, life itself, but shaped to a certain pattern of play (7). Yet, it is not an
expansion of real life. Bakhtin says, It is the world standing on its head or it is

Direct Democracy Within A Representative System
On a very basic level, direct democracy can be seen as mob rule or rule by decree. The system
allows the mob to overrule the decisions made by the government, refusing any consistent social
contracts between the citizens. In this pure form, direct democracy cannot even be considered a
system of governance at all. It is not the most fair or just system. (Schneider). In order for any
individual to indulge in a causal contract with other members of the society, it is necessary that they
feel that they can rely on the constitution of the society they are contracting with.
Direct democracy is popular currently as an alternative to a failed form called Representative
Democracy. The Pirate Party uses liquid democracy as an idea to tie votes to expertise and
incorporate some aspects of direct democracy within a representative system, but this is a recycled
idea from historical democracy that was replaced for a reason (Marsh). Before individual voting
and secret ballots were established, people were forced out of voting by the people in a position
of power like employers or tyrannical spouses. Liquid democracy is not a new system instead it is
a return to a previously failed one. It advocates corruption, vote buying and accepted rule by
demagogues. These were the things that deemed this system of government not fit to be
implemented; there is no logical reason for returning to a failed form of government. Women and
minorities fought too hard for this system to return.

Analysis Of One Big Myth And One True Hero
The Western genre can be a variety of works, including texts and films, which are set in the
American Old West during the latter half of the nineteenth century. This genre primarily focuses on
the life of a cowboy with gunfights, a good guy and a bad guy, and the usually ending of riding off
into the sunset. The common misconception that is shown throughout the Westerngenreis that the
male characters are always the hero, whereas the female characters are impediments and less
valuable. This relates to Susan Lee Johnson s quote on how the Western genre always portrays One

Just like in Johnny Guitar, Reichardt uses the women to tell the story instead of the men. We see
that throughout the movie, the camera stays closer to the women when men talk rather than
follow the men. This is showing that women are the main focus and this story is going to be told
through their point of view. Since the movie has women at the center of it, Reichardt shows that
some women are fearless and resilient. Emily Tetherow, one of the main women, stands her
ground against Stephan Meek when he threatens to kill the Indian. She also fixes the Indian s
shoe not because she was being nice, but because she wanted him to owe her something. Emily
may be brave and strong, but she is definitely not an earth mother. She was conniving and wasn t
afraid to pick up a gun and fight for what she believed in. She would go against part of the group
if it meant she would survive. Meek s Cutoff is also not like a traditional Western in the sense that
there are no gunfights, no good guy versus the bad guy, and ultimately there is no action in the
movie. However, Westerns are usually set in desolate landscapes, like the desert or mountains,
because they show the harshness of the wilderness. Meek s Cutoff is set in this type of landscape
and it certainly shows how harsh the wilderness can be. Besides that aspect of a traditional Western,
the movie incorporates its own twists. Just like Johnny Guitar and Meek s Cutoff, Winona also goes
against what is considered traditional and revolutionizes the

Augustine financial support for his education, he did not care how Augustine s character would
advance through his education. St. Augustine s dad paid more than a richer man would pay for
their son s education because he wanted to provide Augustine with the proper education.
(Confessions, II, 5). Unlike the attitude toward his father, St. Augustine showed a great deal of
respect to his mother, Monica, since she was a practicing Christian (II,60). In spite of this,
Augustine criticized his mother for holding him back from his sexual desire (II,8). But his father
arranged his marriage and encouraged him to have children (II,6). Unlike Confucius s teachings of
remaining reverent to your parent, Augustine openly criticized his family s wrong doings because
God was his heart and only truth (II,5).
Another difference between Analects and Confessi0ons is the different believes about one s self

The Impeachment of President Bill Clinton
The Impeachment of President Bill Clinton The impeachment of President Clinton is something
that will be remembered forever. Along with the fact that a presidential impeachment has only
happened one other time since the Civil War, the publicity that came with the Clinton trial was
extensive (Miller 2004). While the Republican and Democratic members of the House of
Representatives had vastly different views on impeaching President Clinton, the fact that only five
Democratic Representatives voted to impeach him truly shows how wide that gap was between
the two parties. Clinton was impeached on the grounds of perjury to a grand jury and obstruction
of justice, with the vote on both articles extremely close, a 228 206 vote on perjury to a... Show

Whatever the merits of that argument, such action is clearly unnecessary. There is no need or
justification for us to take this important action in such haste (Rothenberg and Sanders 2000). In
another case, Democrat Rush Holt defeated Republican Michael Pappas in the 1998 contest of
New Jersey s 12th Congressional District, but Pappas still cast his vote on the impeachment. Holt
believed that Pappas should withdraw his impeachment vote because it s a matter of historic
significance and he doesn t have to answer to anybody (Rothenberg and Sanders 2000). Against
Holt s and many others views, Pappas, along with the other thirty nine representatives in their final
term, participated in the impeachment trial while facing no electoral accountability (Rothenberg
and Sanders 2000). While the Democrats still could have received some votes from the departing
Republican representatives, the chances that enough Republican representatives would vote non
guilty to create a Democratic majority were very slim. In the 105th Congress, the House of
Representatives consisted of 227 members from the Republican Party, 207 members from the
Democratic Party, and one member who was Independent but sided with the Democrats

227 Republicans voted for the counts of impeaching Clinton, no Democratic votes would be

Workplace Diversity Issues
Workplace diversity policies have emerged among countless companies, in an attempt to increase
diversity among its workers. While noble in idea, the effect it is having is ultimately questionable.
In a very recent study conducted by Dover, Kaiser, and Major, its overall effect to company
diversity is negligible (John Moyer, 2016). The study went on to demonstrate diversity policies can
blind white men to racismand sexism at work and also lead to resentment (Moyer, 2016, p. 1).
This idea is reinforced via Reddit commenters anecdotes and an older study (Moyer, 2016). The
study demonstrated how whites felt threatened by companies that had workplace diversity policies
compared to companies that didn t (Moyer, 2016, p.2). In essence, as the country increases in
diversity, white peoplefeel more threatened (Moyer, 2016, p.3).
This article relates to our class by demonstrating the racial friction in America. In thinking that the
increase in diversity as threatening to the status quo, it is unsurprising that white people feel
threatened and treated unfairly. This perceived unfairness leads to racism and sexism in and out of
the workplace. Which, in turn, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The study was very recent, a pleasant surprise, and it raised some interesting thoughts. I wished
the article explained how to go about increasing workplace diversity. On a side note, I found the
use of the word white people almost dehumanizing, which could easily be transferred on to the
media s (and the everyday) use of the word black people. Obviously, I found it odd, due to the fact
I am white, which entails that I have white privilege. Also citing Reddit commenters, while it is the
front page of the internet, was rather odd to see. Unsurprisingly enough, I agree with the study. I
personally remember stories told to me where the mere mention of workplace diversity was filled
with contempt. While sad, it personally validates the study s

Army Hand Salute Research Paper
History
Have you ever wondered why we salute or where this gesture of respect came from?
To preserve history, senior leaders must uphold, teach, and pass down heritage and time honored
traditions because heritage and tradition is what has shaped us into the military force we are today.
This paper will cover the history of military salutes, its evolution, and the effects that it has on the
military today.
The military salute is a tradition that permeates within the military and dates many centuries. There
are two distinct salutes used by the military today. The hand salute and the gun salute.
The hand salute is a form of recognition and greeting between members in the armed services.
There seems to be no true origin of the hand salute and it leads to a lot of speculation of how this
gesture of trust and respect came about. Forms of the hand salute traces back to the Roman and
Medieval Times. During the Roman times when assassinations were widespread and common, in
order to see a public official, a citizen would have to raise their right hand to show that it was free
of a weapon. In Medieval times, a knight in armor would raise their visors ... Show more content on

Navy adopted the hand salute from the British Navy. The British Navy s earlier salutes involved
removing the headgear. When they started adding chinstraps to their headgear, it proved too
difficult to remove the headgear in each instance so they began just touching the hat with their
right hand. This gesture, officially modified in 1820, evolved into the hand salute we use today.
Some may think that hand salute is a sign of inferiority because juniors have to always salute
seniors first but it is not. Juniors salute first as a military courtesy towards seniors and it is always
required to be returned. A few other instances where the hand salute is rendered is during the
National Anthem or foreign national anthem, To the Color , Hail to the Chief , rendering reports,
and raising and lowering of the

The Concept of Family Health in Nursing Practice
Family Health
How does a family work as a system in promoting the health of its members? Family is playing an
important part in helping to ensure that patients are fit and following the advice of health care
professionals. This is because the family is a foundation of support for everyone. At the same time,
members can learn about what is impacting their loved one and what kind of procedures need to be
followed. When this happens, there will be higher amounts of compliance as they will ensure that
the patient continues to stick with their treatment protocol. (Saleeba, 2009) Moreover, the family
understands the specifics about the individual s condition and their daily routines. This can help
health care professionals to decide if the person is following the proper steps in their therapy.
Once this takes place, is the point that health care professionals can make adjustments to reflect
changing realities. Those patients, who have their families involved, will be able to receive better
care by ensuring that nothing is overlooked. This is the point that physicians will have a more
complete picture surrounding their underlying levels of health. (Saleeba, 2009) Evidence of this
can be seen with observations from Saleeba (2008) who said, The family should be updated
continuously about the patient s condition and procedures. Keeping the family members well
informed an including them in procedures can have a dramatic effect on decreasing stress. Studies

Individuals were evicted from their homes and companies downsized in order to combat poor

Those who possessed wealth or were categorized in the upper class bracket were bailed out by

Kinky Boots Analysis
Kinky Boots: Still Stunningly Flashy
Kinky Boots is a stunningly flashy Broadway musical that tugs on the heartstrings with its
equally stunning clichГ©s. With its plot originally conceived as a British film in 2005, the
stage production was not produced until 2012 and was based on the book written by Harvey
Fierstein. Furthermore, the show did not find its way to Broadway until 2013. When it debuted,
the show opened to critical acclaim with Billy Porter and Stark Sands originating the roles of
lead characters Lola and Charlie. Since its Broadway debut, Kinky Boots has been a smashing
commercial success. Over the years, Kinky Boots has swapped out the actors in its cast many
times. However, the original leading actors of the show, Billy Porter and Stark Sands, have
returned once again to play Lola and Charlie in 2017.
Kinky Boots, directed by Jerry Mitchell with music and lyrics by Cyndi Lauper, follows the story
of Charlie Price when he inherits his family s shoe factory from his father. The factory has fallen
on hard times with sales reaching depressing lows and the factory bleeding cash flow. All seems
lost until Charlie has a fateful meeting with drag performer Lola, who inspires Charlie to reinvent
the factory and produce a new line of high heeled boots in an unlikely partnership. Tensions mount
and personalities clash as their production deadline nears, but in the end the partners realize that

The Representation Of Refugees Through A Political And...
Refugees are a prominent group of people in today s society. A refugee is someone who is
outside his or her country of origin and is at risk of being persecuted if he or she returns . The
Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees establishes the basic human rights to which refugees
are entitled wherever they are (Dauvergne, 2012, p. 1445). Refugees are talked about and handled
in certain ways within different discourses. Foucault s defines discourseas the rules and practices
that produce meaningful statements about a topic at a particular historical moment. He argues
that it constricts the topic . (Hall, 1997, p.44). This essay will analyse the representation of
refugees through a political and media discourse. A political discourse on refugees is explored in
Rocco Fazzari and Denis Carnahan s video Stop the Boats (with cash) Tony . The video highlights
the political language for talking about refugees and the ways in which they are viewed by the
Australian government. In comparison the media discourse will be examined through Nilufer
Demir s (2015) photograph of a drowned Syrian child refugee. The image stresses the pivotal role
the media plays in constructing and circulating meanings (Hightower, 2014, p.336). By analysing
refugees through these two texts, an understanding of the different representation and meanings
produced by separate discourses on the same topic can be developed.
A political discourse allows the government s policies on refugees and the

The Canada Health Act
All health care in Canada is free for insured services, those provided through hospitals and
physicians (O Neill, 2008). With the enactment of the Canada Health Act, citizens may choose
their own family physician and do not have to pay premiums, deductibles, or co payments. Other
services such as prescription drugs or dental care must be paid for either out of pocket or through
private insurances. Because of this free care, O Neill (2008) argued that the demand for health
care becomes unrestrained causing costs to surge. This inexplicably triggered shortages in all
provinces and explicit rationing had to be implemented in Canada for certain medical treatments
and technology (O Neill, 2008). The high demand and severe shortages caused a large increase in
private facilities providing core services.
Private Health Care
While the health care system in Canada covers basic services, including primary care physicians
and hospitals, some of Canada s provinces will provide additional services such as physiotherapy,
dental coverage, and prescription medicines (source). Though, if a citizen is a part of a province
that does not cover additional services or they require services that may not be covered like dental

The Most Pragmatic And Realistic Approach
The Greatest Thing in the World was my favorite piece of reading from the entire semester in
Advanced Interpersonal Communication. I found this book to be the most pragmatic and realistic
approach to how to love while also being quite concise. Although I have enjoyed reading and
discussing The Great Divorce, The Four Loves, and Beloved through the year, none of them have
had the same sense of application for me as that of Henry Drummond s writing. Drummond uses
simple language to break down the superiority of love, the composition of love, and the
importance of love using the passage 1 Corinthians 13. It is a passage I was familiar with and had
even read many similar readings on, but none with such detail. Drummond s writings have made
me consider the dialectical tensions involved in communicating with the Body of Christ along
with the nature of love and the importance of relationships within the Body of Christ. There are
many points of tension within the Body of Christ due to imperfect people and their inability to
communicate love perfectly. People are supposed to practice love and with practice comes
mistakes. Earth s purpose is to act as an education on for us all to ask ourselves how better can we
love (Drummond, 36). Specifically, tensions arise when we become envious or prideful. Since there
are often others doing better than us, the temptation to be competitive presents itself often. Pride is
common because humility is difficult. Drummond suggests that after some

How Did John Adams And John Quincy Adams Impact The...
Many say Like father like son which would ring true to John Adams and John Quincy Adams.
These two men were influential people in each of their own generations. Being President was
something that they both got to experience during their lifetime. Implicating policies and
supervising foreign and domestic affairs, both John Adamsand John Quincy Adams impacted the
history of America while being the 2nd and 6th president of our great nation.
John Adams and John Quincy Adams were both born in Braintree, Massachusetts 32 years apart.
John Adams was married to Abigail Adams, who was actually his third cousin, and on July 11,
1767 Abigail gave birth to John Quincy Adams. John and Abigail also had five other children. John

The French were upset because the United States claimed neutrality but favored Great Britain in
the Jay treaty of 1796. The French retaliated by taking over United States Merchant ships. All
relations with France were terminated. An unofficial war was in the mist which is now referred
to as the Quasi War. John Adams attempt at solving this problem was the XYZ Affair. The
United States had to pay a very large bribe for the representatives sent to even begin to speak
about negotiations with the French. When the United States Navy got involved in defending
the nation the Treaty of Mortefontaine was created in 1800 to prevent an actual war. In order to
further protect the nation from foreign threat Adams passed the Alien and Sedition Acts of
1798. These laws were very questionable and did not last long. They allowed the president to
deport anyone he saw who posed a threat to the nation, made it harder to become a citizen, and
put limits on new voters. John Quincy Adams was more or less successful domestically. While in
office John Quincy Adams promoted the building of roads and canals, banks, and universities.
The Erie Canal was completed on October, 26, 1825. Adams had many critics when he passed a
tariff bill that raised prices on a lot of goods. Some people even referred to it as the Tariff of
Abominations . Adams accomplished much more thorough foreign policy while under James
Monroe than in

For example any planning undertaken by Ryanair for new routes or planes would follow the
prescriptive model as the objective would have been defined beforehand and elements such as
finance will have had to have been agreed before any purchasing goes ahead. On the other hand
emergent strategies may be in place for things like training and development where elements can
be discovered along the way for example if an issue arose where staff needed more health and
safety training then the training programme could be redirected. Ryanair, as already stated, follows
neither strategic approach religiously and possesses a strategy unique to their organisation, which
has identified their needs and objectives. However their approach to strategic management isn t
unique in itself as the majority of organisations will tailor strategies to suit their business own
individuality.
II.3 Competitive Advantages Their main competitors are carriers including easyJet, BMI baby,
FlyBe and ThomsonFly all of who try to attract potential customers by emphasising their low cost
tickets. This makes the competition in this market segment fierce as in order to offer the lowest
fares, costs must also be kept to a minimum.

Examples Of Inequalities In Harrison Bergeron
Inequality is something that humanity has faced since the beginning of time; it seems like it
will never be worked out. There is really no way for everyone in the whole world to be equal no
matter how much work is put into it. Inequality in Harrison Bergeron was tackled in grand way.
There were many ways that gifted people were brought down to reach the level of those with
special needs. The way inequality was handed to such an extent makes one wonder why certain
equalities were held higher than others and what went on for there to be 213 amendments. In the
story, George Bergeron has intelligence way above normal, while Hazel Bergeron had perfectly
normal intelligence which means that she couldn t think about anything for too long. Those with
superior intelligence had their mental handicap that kept them from thinking for too long so they
would be on the level of the average people. The way that intelligence is shut down makes one
wonder if the government has gotten rid of any sort of tutoring or remedial work for struggling
students. Are they forced to struggle? Or is everyone also struggling? Intelligence is a good
example of how the government brings everyone down to one... Show more content on

Race, sex, and money are all good examples of things that are never equal in life. Perhaps the
author did not mention race and sex because it should be understood that all people realize there is
equality there or maybe he just didn t feel the need to. Even though sex and race weren t
included, money was briefly mention. Hazel comments on the announcer, stating that he should
get a raise for trying so hard. There is reason to wonder if handicap sidewalk ramps are still
available and if there are still people who sign for the deaf at public events. There are obviously
very many holes in the story for all of the equalities there should

Florence Nightingale Contribution
Florence Nightingale has long been considered the mother of modern nursing. Despite the social
barriers placed before women during the 1800s, something in Florence s character allowed her to
rise that few could have foreseen. Many influential figures in the past have pondered on the idea of
greatness. As Thomas Carlyle once stated, The history of the world is but the biography of great
men. Clearly, Carlyle s thought was narrow minded, as the biography of Florence Nightingale
shows that the history of the world also encompasses the formation of great women. Connecting
some of the pivotal points in the life of this great woman will lend a fuller picture to our own
history, as well as our own formation.
Florence Nightingales father imbued a progressive and philanthropic ideology within Florence from
a young age. Fortunately for Florence, her father was very much in support of education for
women, as well as their advancement within society. Her father taught her, as well as her sister,
music; grammar; composition; modern languages; classical Greek and Latin; constitutional history
and Roman, Italian, German, and Turkish history; and mathematics (page 36).
Additionally, her father seemed to place great emphasis on critical and experimental thinking.
Florence s penchant for independence in this regard is exemplified in the sketch drawn by her aunt,
Julia Smith, which depicts Florence with her sister, Parthenope, as well as her father walking down
the street. Whereas

Argumentative Essay On The Grapes Of Wrath
The States of Colorado, New Mexico, Nebraska, Texas, Arkansas, Kansas, and Oklahoma was hit
by a terrible drought that was known as Dust Bowl in 1930s to 1940s. The Dust Bowl made the
farmer families in this affected States not able to pay their debts and so the government and bank
closed the family farm. The movie The Grape of Wrath directed by John Ford depicts the life of a
family from Oklahoma that was affected by the Dust Bowlin 1930 1940. The family left Oklahoma
and moved to California which they call the promise land but when they got to California
starvation, poverty, and injustice welcomed them. The Dust Bowl in 1930sand 1940s made the
people s lives miserable and made the whole country suffer.
The movie started when Tom Joad returned to his home in Oklahoma after being in jail for
homicide. On his way to see his family, he saw a former preacher named Casey. The former
preacher told and warned Tom Joad that the Dust Bowl came year after year that blown the
farmer s land, blown the crops away, and even blown the farmers. When Tom got to his family s
home, his family was not there but there was a farmer who was staying and hiding at their old
house. The farmer told Tom the story on how the Dust Bowl destroyed every farmer s land,
house, and life in Oklahoma. According to the farmer, a man came one day and told the farmers
to get off their house and land because a company based in Tulsa already owns their lands.
However, the farmers fought back and they stayed in their home and land because it was hard
for them to leave. Unfortunately, caterpillar tractors went to their land that is now owned by a
company to tore down the farmers houses. There were 10 to 15 families who watched their
houses being dismantled by a tractor. Every farmers family that had their home demolished had
no place to live so they were forced to stay on the road. The farmer who was staying at Tom s old
house informed him that his family was staying with Tom s Uncle John. After knowing that, Tom
went to his Uncle John s house right away to visit his family. The whole family was in shocked
but very happy to see Tom. While having a meal, Uncle John read the hand bill to the family that
says there are 800 workers

A Summary Of The Movie The Mission
The 1986 film The Mission depicts the relation of the Jesuits as a type of enlightening force for
the Guarani people, that is able to organized theses people in way that was not before possible.
The representation of the priest as these great liberators of knowledge by the movie is flattery, the
natives where indeed capable of organizing themselves as a society that the films choses to ignore.
The Guarani where not the pure molds that the movie presents, they contained there own original
and optioned ideas on how society works after contact with the Jesuits and in the missions, a
notable example of their ideas can be seen in religion. The natives are shown throughout the film of
having weak constitution to their traditional spirituality, and this was not the cause in history. My
argument is, the Guarini where not the passive molds for Christianitypresented in the film, but
where actually relatively organized in them believes of spirituality and held strong options on the
subject. Supporting the argument against the films take will include: Ruiz de Montoya s The
Spiritual Conquest, a primary source form the prospective of a Jesuit priest during the time of The
Mission; James Schofield Seager s The Mission and Historical Missions: Film and the Writing of
History, focuses on the historical issues riddled within the film; and lecture notes form Dr. Austin,
discussing the actuality of what occurred in during the time period of The Mission. A scene in the
film worthy to focus

The Consequences of Bringing the Past with You Immediately into Tim O Brien s short story
The Things They Carried the reader is introduced to First Lieutenant Jimmy Cross and the letters
he carried from his past back home. Throughout the story, readers are also introduced to other
items and supplies which were largely determined by necessity (O Brien 1) as well as items
deemed a luxury that each individual soldier carried with him for one reason or another. Pictures,
memorabilia, and personal items all acted as a gateway into a portal which would bring them
back home to the ones they loved if only for five minutes at a time. Although the pictures,
memorabilia and personal items of Cross and his soldiers alike, helped them recall back to an era
much more peaceful, the consequences of bringing the past with you can carry exceedingly
negative side effects.
Within the short story, the audience learns that Jimmy Cross carries letters and pictures from his
crush from back home, Martha. Multiple times within the story Jimmy Cross consults these pictures
and letters to distract himself from the war providing a bit of comfort in his harsh environment.
With progression through the story, readers find Jimmy Cross continuously reviewing the pictures
and letters from his dear Martha, letting his mind drift off thinking about her, distracting him from
his duties at hand. These distractions happen more and more often, eventually leading to the most
harrowing consequence. First Lieutenant Jimmy Cross s divergence from his important tasks at
hand, result in Ted Lavender being killed while under the supervision of Cross himself. This
being the key turning point for Cross, as he starts to realize his lapse in judgment and focus, had
directly cost the life of one of his soldiers. This resulting in him discovering that the pictures and
letters from Martha, he was using as hope for his future back home, and comfort from the issues at
hand, were the stemming source of all his problems and distractions, which ultimately cost the life
of his soldier. Because of this realization, Cross burns the pictures and letters from Martha, which
he was holding onto in hopes that she

Transformational Opportunities Exist With The United...
Transformational Opportunities Exist to Integrate the United States Mental Health System Mental
illness refers to all diagnosable mental disorders defined as health conditions that are characterized
by alterations in thinking, mood or behavior (or some combination thereof) associated with distress
and/or impaired functioning. (Williams Torrens, 2008, p. 221) With one in every five American
adults experiencing mental illness, the resulting economic burden exceeds $300 billion per year to
include approximately $100 billion in direct health care expenditures, $24 billion in disability
benefits, and $193 billion in lost earnings. (Insel, 2008) This estimate is conservative as it excludes
the components of incarceration, homelessness, comorbid conditions, early mortality and the
incalculable costs to families that absorb much of the financial and emotional burdens of these
illnesses. Despite the fact mental illness contributes over 6% to the nation s health care spending;
the United States (U.S.) mental health system has historically lacked integration with physical
medicine and public policy support. (Insel, 2008) The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act
(ACA), though not a panacea, has provided an opportunity to bolster a broken mental health
system. The ACA includes a variety of provisions to effect the biggest expansion of mental health
and substance abuse services in a generation. (Golden Vail, 2014, p. 96) The expansion of health

President Ronald Reagan Ronald Reagan was born on February 6, 1911 in Tampico, Illinois

John Edward Reagan (his father) was a shoe salesman that was an alcoholic. The first time he

This turned many in the favor of Reagan. It was the worst defeat of an incumbent president
since Hoover s loss to FDR in 1932. Carter won only four small states plus his home state of
Georgia (Campaigns 4). Republicans again selected Reagan and Bush to run in 1984. The
Democrats selected Walter Mondale. Reagan used many one liners that poked fun at his
adversaries. Mondale believed that the high deficits and unbalanced budget would put the
public in his favor and against Reagan, but it did not happen. Reagan s campaign slogan was It s
morning again in America was accepted by most of middle Americans (Campaigns 7) The
Reagan s years can be said to be of the nation who loved their president. They forgave his
mistakes and overlooked his wrongs. Reagan was shot ten weeks after his inauguration and
Reagan turned this into a lesson of courage. Reagan s courage and humor endeared him to even
his enemies. Reagan early on showed his mettle for tough minded and decisive action when he
took on the 11,600 Air Traffic Controller s union (Prime Time 1). They had called an illegal strike
and Reagan was not afraid to fire them when they were given a back to work order. This led the
public to see Reagan as a strong leader. Reagan led the move to cut government spending in 1981
by cutting more than $25 billion from welfare programs with another $20 billion to be
implemented in 1982 and 1983. Reagan

Phobias And Its Effects On Phobias
A phobia is a phenomenon where an organism has a distinct fear of a particular event or object.
Phobias can not only be a biological instinct but rather a conditioned emotional response as well.
Though, there has been some argument on what causes phobia it is generally accepted that phobias
both stem from biological input and environmental experiences. The first reference to phobias was
done by Hippocrates, who wrote about one of his patients having an extreme fearover something
that others would deem to be silly. Around the 1890 s phobias were described as a distinct mental
condition by Freud and his researchers. Freud the creator of psychoanalysis stated that phobias were
simply conflicts within oneself. Thus, to get rid of their phobiathey would have to overcome a part
of himself. However, not everyone was willing to agree with Freud, things like behaviorism for
example, created a system known as conditioning and stimulus generalization to show that fear is
something created through particular behaviors with the use of avoidance. However, despite the
conflicting nonconscious/behavioral argument there is also a biological explanation to phobias.
When someone notices something that could possibly be a threat there are two types of pathways
that are used to decipher the situation/object. The first being thalamo cortico amygdala pathway.
This is a long process where with the use of primary sensory, unimodal association and polymodal
cortices is able to truly identify

The Effects Of Divorce On Our Society
The United States is a country that takes pride in the fact that no matter what religion, race or
sex you are you can join together in the unity of marriage. Many people dream of growing up
and marrying the love of their life and having a family, but they do not take into consideration
there are 2.3 million marriages a year, with over 1.2 million divorces ( The Impact of Divorceon Our
Society ). Divorce is not limited to breaking apart the husband and wife; it destroys families,
siblings and the future of the American children. Divorces cause money, crime and education issues
and an overall effect on the children caught in the middle, which follows them into their adult life.
A $1,000 of taxpayer s money is spent dealing with the consequences of broken families ( The
Impact of Divorce on Our Society ). The amount of money spent in divorce procedures and in
the long run is astronomical. From divorce lawyers to child support, there is no denying this
bonus part of life is expensive. It impacts families as well as tax payers and the government. The
median household net worth is $132,000 for marrieds, $35,000 for singles, and $33,670 for
divorced individuals ( The Impact of Divorce on Our Society ). If people get married, they have a
far better chance to earn a comfortable living, but they have to stay together. If not, the taxpayers
and government have to pay consequences for divorces. If people took the time to make sure their
partner was for life, then the expense would

The Election Of President Elect
Every four years, in early November, American s head to the polls to vote for the next president of
the nation. After a lengthy two years of campaigning and debating, America s votes were cast and
Donald Trump became the nation s president elect. Interestingly, Trump did not win the popular
vote, he had two million less votes than his Democratic opposition, Hillary Clinton. Due to the use
of the electoral college, Trump managed to win more states and more battleground states than
Clinton, and thus won the electoral college vote. This electionand its results have been a whirlwind
of emotions for both Trump and Clinton supporters. Regardless of the outcome, the greatest part
about knowing who the president elect is, is that this election has finally come to a halt.
What is noteworthy about his campaign is that Donald Trump ran his differently from the average
politician. Trump both acted differently and spoke of people in whichever manner he pleased.
Surprisingly, American s thrived off of his ability to stand tall and remain true to himself. The main
argument in this election between Clinton and Trump supporters was how they were more
offended by Clinton s actions than Trump s words. No matter what Trump said, his followers still
thought of him in a positive manner.
First of all, Donald Trump ran his campaign, in the kindest of words, unconventionally. He had no
filter in debates, in rallies and on his social media platforms. While speaking one s mind honestly is

Descriptive Essay About Disney World
On Monday Joy and her family arrived in Orlando, Florida, but they were not staying on the
Disney resort, but instead, they choose to stay at the Kissimmee Koa campground. While they all
impatiently waited to arrive at Disney World the next morning. The night before, Joy and all of her
siblings decided swimming and playing on the play grounds was the way to occupy their time.
Tuesday morning the family woke up at 8:00 a.m. and ate a quick breakfast prior to beginning
their short journey to the Disney World theme park. All of the children, including Joy were
extremely excited to arrive at Disney World because it would be their first time. They left the
campground at about 9:00 a.m. and arrived at Disney World at approximately 9:45 a.m. When
the family arrived at the theme park, it took them nearly 20 minutes to locate a parking space and
enter the park. During the entire drive to Disney World Joy thought it was all just a dream. But,
upon arriving to the actual theme park of Disney World, Joy realized her dream was really a
reality and she shed tears of excitement. Disney World is a magic kingdom full of people, buildings,
song and dance, food like homemade fudge, horse drawn street cars and horseless carriages,
statues and Disney characters. Joys family adventure began by entering through a tunnel just
below a train station before they landed right in front of cinderella s castle. Since the experience
was nothing like what joy had even been through before, she stood amazed as she viewed the castle
she dreamed about living in, much like every other girl. Six paths lead from several different angle
around the castle spreading throughout the theme park.
One of the first attractions within Disney world that Joy and her family stopped at was the
Swiss Family Treehouse. The Swiss Family Treehouse was based on a 1960 s movie, Swiss
Family Robinson . The attraction is a large treehouse accessible for children and adults to climb
and maneuver through, but it is also the makeshift home of a shipwrecked family as portrayed in
the movie. As Joy entered the enormous treehouse she was lead to a narrow staircase that was the
pathway to the dining room, kitchen, and two bedrooms. The treehouse left Joy and her siblings

  • 2. Don Quixote s Arrest For The Holy Brotherhood The people at the inn play along with Don Quixote s insistence that the basin is actually Mambrino s helmet. A huge fight breaks out, but Don Quixote finally ends the brawl by asking the priest and the judge to calm everyone. The judge decides to bring Don Louis to Andalusia along with him and Clara, and he tells the servants about his plan. A member of the Holy Brotherhood, attracted to the scene by the outbreak of violence, realizes that he has a warrant for Don Quixotes arrest for freeing the galley slaves. Don Quixote laughs at the man and rails about the stupidity of trying to arrest a knight errant. The priest pacifies the members of the Holy Brotherhood by convincing them that Don Quixote is insane and should not be held accountable for his actions.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The barber and priest contrive a plan to get Don Quixote back to their village without the help of Dorothea and Ferdinand. They build a cage, capture Don Quixote, bind him, and place him in the cage on the back of an ox cart. The barber then pretends to be a sage and predicts Don Quixote s valorous return to his village and his reunion and marriage to Dulcinea. Don Quixote accepts the enchantment that he believes is afflicting him but wonders why he travels so slowly. He concludes that enchantments must have changed since the old days, when knights were whisked away on clouds and traveled at very high speeds. Sancho warns Don Quixote that he is not enchanted, but Don Quixote does not believe him. As the group leaves, the innkeeper gives the priest some papers from the trunk the unknown man left at the inn. The priest is anxious to read ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Tornado Short Story A Tragic Surprise The flowers were blooming, the birds were chirping, and the sun was shining on May 10, 2003. My family and I were about to make a shopping trip to Walmart in Hannibal, Missouri. My older brother, Darin, decided not to go because he, like most teenagers , did not want to spend his Saturday night with his parents and younger brothers and sister. As we pulled out of the driveway dad turned on the radio to 104.7 KRES Country. Immediately the broadcaster is giving a weather report saying, There is a likely chance of severe storms this afternoon and a tornado watch is in effect until 8:00 PM. It was already getting dark in the west and the wind was starting to pick up. My mom then asks, Do you think we should leave Darin at home with the storm rolling in? Dad answers saying, I doubt it will amount to much, he will be fine. Just as we are about to turn onto Highway 36 dad stops the car. What are you doing? mom asks. Something is telling me to go back and make him go with us. Dad says. He then turns the 2001 tan minivan around to coax Darin to go with us. Darin is clearly displeased when dad makes him get into the vehicle. Why do we have to go to Walmart anyways? he asks. We have to pick out a Mothers Day gift for grandma. There are also a lot of groceries we need to get. Mom replies. We arrived in Hannibal in less than 15 minutes and had a couple of Mother s Day cards picked out in no time. What else do we need . Dad asks mom. Mainly just some ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Relationship Between A Parent And Child Relationship Throughout history human behavior has held a continuing fascination for artists of all kinds. The way in which human beings relate to one another has been a source of inspiration to painters, sculptors, authors, composers, playwrights, filmmakers and photographers alike. Relationships between people vary from the everyday dynamics and the significance in which they value one another and each connection between those relationships makes a different impact on the one of someone else. There are many relationships people form throughout their lives, for instance the primary relationships at the start of their lives, between parent and child, and siblings, which start in the home. A relationship between a parent and child has a special unspoken bond in which they share indescribable love, never ending care and affection for each other, as the parent is the only depended and reliable thing they have. A good parent and child relationship can teach a child how to form other bonds with mutual respect and admiration, such as friendships further on in life. As people grow and develop, they form secondary connections such as friendships and intimate relationships. Friendships are predominantly built on trust, even as young children. Interaction with peers helps to strengthen character and introduces a sense of belonging with others rather than family. Children are naturally trusting, which means they form bonds with one another instinctively. As they get older and gain knowledge, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Essay On Dye Sensitized Solar Cells In 1991, a major breakthrough has come in the field of solar photovoltaic known as dye sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) [1]. This kind of solar cells possess low cost and simple functioning together with their advantageous characteristics such as lightweight, flexible, low toxicity and good performance in diverse light conditions [2]. Usually DSSC s consists of dye adsorbed nanostructured metal oxidefilm serving as a photoanode, a Pt coated counter electrode and liquid electrolyte injected between them [3]. Light irradiate on the nanostructured metal oxide film causes photo excitation of the dye molecules by exciting electrons which are then injected into the conduction band of the semiconductor and fast transferred to the external circuit... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus, numbers of articles devoted to ZnO photoelectrode with the aim to enhance efficiency by reducing the charge carrier recombination, and improving electrical/optical performance [9 12]. In this regard, doping is the most advantageous approach to modify ZnO structures. Different kind of metals such as lanthanum [13], aluminum [14], tin [15], magnesium [16] and titanium [17] has been widely investigated as effective dopants in ZnO photoelectrode for improving the performance. Moreover, earlier reports on the DSSC have proven that the active area is directly proportional to the power conversion efficiency [18]. Therefore, we attempted to incorporate indium into ZnO to improve above cited aspects with an ideal working area (0.25cm2) of photoanode in DSSC. Indium (In3+) was chosen as dopant, because it has a noteworthy contribution in transparent conducting oxide materials and much work devoted in indium doped ZnO as a transparent conducting oxide film [19 20]. Owing to their remarkable properties such as high electronegativity, minute native lattice distortion with preferable chemical stability make indium as suitable donor than other elements for finding high quality ZnO based transparent conducting oxide with an excellent conductivity in DSSCs [21]. • 9. My Love Of Baseball I Will Always Rationale Boring. That is the first word that pops into someone s head when I ask them to describe this beautiful sport. They either say the sport is too boring, too complicated, or just lengthy to both watch and play. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, no doubt. But the sport of baseball is one that has always mesmerized my brain when I play/look at it. It is perhaps the best metaphor to describe life, and also the best metaphor to describe me. Life is what you make of it. Baseball fits this phrase like peanut butter and jelly. Baseball immediately popped into my head when thinking of a metaphor. There was a number of others, but I felt like baseball truly fit the puzzle. I always pictured life as a sort of complex topic I couldn t wrap my head around. Starting from a young age, my love for baseball has transitioned into how I live my life and what I do. Since it is such a staple in my life, I think that it fits the I Will Always phrase better than any other metaphor. Baseball is a puzzle, and baseball players have to solve that puzzle. When I talked about swinging the hardest at fastball challenges, I was talking about a common trait among all baseball players. When standing at the mound, waiting for a pitch, despite the player knowing the skill of the pitcher, he still tries with all his might to land a hit on the ball. When I get faced with challenges, I m not one to back down. I m courageous, and will Swing very hard at challenges that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many different types of examples of people who found success through opportunities laid out in front of them are discussed in Outliers. • 12. The Effect of John Keats Health on His Work Essay The Effect of John Keats Health on His Work In his elegy for the poet John Keats, Adonais, his friend and fellow poet Percy Bysshe Shelley writes: With me / Died Adonais; till the Future dares / Forget the Past, his fate and fame shall be / An echo and a light unto eternity (6 9). Shelley speaks of the eternal nature of Keats poetry, which, although written at a specific time in literary history, addresses timeless issues such as life, death, love, sorrow, and poetic expression. Keats lived only twenty six years, but his poetry reflects a mind concerned with his own place in the present and the future; he seemed to want most desperately to belong to the world as a poet. ... Keats was, therefore, a solitary child who grew very protective of his siblings. This protectiveness of others is clear in his poetry as he tries to make sense of death, grief, and suffering. Keats sense that his role as a writer was to ease the suffering of others is nowhere clearer than in Ode to a Nightingale, written in 1819. In this poem he speaks to the lonely songbird, the nightingale, and says he envies her ability to sing so beautifully. The nightingale sings because she is not a part of the world of human suffering. As one critic writes, the viewless (invisible) wings of Poesy transport the poet to the imagined world of the

  • 15. Reactivities Of Reaction Lab Question: What are the relative reactivities of the metals in the experiment and how can we predict if the reaction will take place? Hypothesis: Metals with a lower electronegativity than the cation of the solution will react. Metals have different degrees of reactivity based on how based on how easily they can displace the cation in the solution. When a metal reacts with water, it displaces hydrogen from the water molecule and forms a metal oxide. The same applies to other solutions; as long as the metal forms a better cation (i.e. has lower electronegativity) than the cation present in the solution, it can displace it and react. These reactions are categorized into single displacement reactions because the metal presented as an element... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If the metal has lower electronegativity than the cation in the aqueous solution, then the reaction proceeds. For example, magnesium strips were inserted into a solution of 0.5 M HCl. There was a rigorous reaction awhere bubbles and heat were produced. This inference is supported by the difference in electronegativity between magnesium and hydrogen, whose values are respectively 1.55 and 2.20. Magnesium has considerably lower electronegativity than that of hydrogen, and could displace hydrogen from chloride to form MgCl. However, when an iron nail was dipped into an aqueous solution of 0.5 M ZnSO4, no reaction occurred. This also can be explained by their difference in electronegativity. Iron has an electronegativity of 1.83, but zinc s value is 1.65. The other observations can be explained in this fashion. Therefore, the results support my hypothesis, and my hypothesis is accepted for the experiment. The most obvious confounding factor of the experiment is that I could not conduct the experiment myself and had to rely on images of the reactions. Some of the images were unclear, so the observations I made might be inaccurate. Moreover, the images showed only a single moment of the whole reaction, so I could not watch the whole reaction occur and sometimes had to rely on my own intuition. For example, when I saw large piles of precipitates and water droplets on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. Achromatopsia Research Paper I decided to choose Achromatopsia as my topic which deals with color perception. Many people have different forms of color perception. Some people are completely color blind and others are just lacking a few rods or cones which prevent them from seeing a few colors. Achromatopsia is among the worst because people who have this may only see in grey or washed out colors. Whereas, others can see some color and still seem to function normally. This disease can prevent you from seeing all color, which makes it much more difficult to function in everyday life because of the lack of color perception one may have. Achromatopsia is a non progressive and hereditary visual disorder which is characterized by decreased vision, light sensitivity, and the absence of color vision. In the U.S., it affects about 1 in every 33,000 people. Achromatopsia is sometimes called Day Blindness , as these people see better in subdued light. People with complete Achromatopsia will have reduced vision (20/200 or less) due to an abnormality of the retina. They also have no color vision, sensitivity to light (photophobia) and the presence of nystagmus (shaking of the eyes). People with incomplete or partial Achromatopsia may have ... Various features of the Victorian period, for instance the class differences and the effects of urbanization left a great impact on author s life and have found resonance throughout the novel. The system allows the mob to overrule the decisions made by the government, refusing any consistent social contracts between the citizens. In this pure form, direct democracy cannot even be considered a system of governance at all. It is not the most fair or just system. (Schneider). In order for any individual to indulge in a causal contract with other members of the society, it is necessary that they feel that they can rely on the constitution of the society they are contracting with. Direct democracy is popular currently as an alternative to a failed form called Representative Democracy. The Pirate Party uses liquid democracy as an idea to tie votes to expertise and incorporate some aspects of direct democracy within a representative system, but this is a recycled idea from historical democracy that was replaced for a reason (Marsh). Before individual voting and secret ballots were established, people were forced out of voting by the people in a position of power like employers or tyrannical spouses. Liquid democracy is not a new system instead it is a return to a previously failed one. It advocates corruption, vote buying and accepted rule by demagogues. These were the things that deemed this system of government not fit to be implemented; there is no logical reason for returning to a failed form of government. Since the movie has women at the center of it, Reichardt shows that some women are fearless and resilient. Emily Tetherow, one of the main women, stands her ground against Stephan Meek when he threatens to kill the Indian. To preserve history, senior leaders must uphold, teach, and pass down heritage and time honored traditions because heritage and tradition is what has shaped us into the military force we are today. This paper will cover the history of military salutes, its evolution, and the effects that it has on the military today. The military salute is a tradition that permeates within the military and dates many centuries. There are two distinct salutes used by the military today. The hand salute and the gun salute. The hand salute is a form of recognition and greeting between members in the armed services. There seems to be no true origin of the hand salute and it leads to a lot of speculation of how this gesture of trust and respect came about. Forms of the hand salute traces back to the Roman and Medieval Times. • 32. The Concept of Family Health in Nursing Practice Family Health How does a family work as a system in promoting the health of its members? Family is playing an important part in helping to ensure that patients are fit and following the advice of health care professionals. This is because the family is a foundation of support for everyone. At the same time, members can learn about what is impacting their loved one and what kind of procedures need to be followed. When this happens, there will be higher amounts of compliance as they will ensure that the patient continues to stick with their treatment protocol. (Saleeba, 2009) Moreover, the family understands the specifics about the individual s condition and their daily routines. This can help health care professionals to decide if the person is following the proper steps in their therapy. Once this takes place, is the point that health care professionals can make adjustments to reflect changing realities. Those patients, who have their families involved, will be able to receive better care by ensuring that nothing is overlooked. This is the point that physicians will have a more complete picture surrounding their underlying levels of health. (Saleeba, 2009) Evidence of this can be seen with observations from Saleeba (2008) who said, The family should be updated continuously about the patient s condition and procedures. A refugee is someone who is outside his or her country of origin and is at risk of being persecuted if he or she returns . The Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees establishes the basic human rights to which refugees are entitled wherever they are (Dauvergne, 2012, p. 1445). Refugees are talked about and handled in certain ways within different discourses. Foucault s defines discourseas the rules and practices that produce meaningful statements about a topic at a particular historical moment. He argues that it constricts the topic . (Hall, 1997, p.44). This essay will analyse the representation of refugees through a political and media discourse. A political discourse on refugees is explored in Rocco Fazzari and Denis Carnahan s video Stop the Boats (with cash) Tony . The video highlights the political language for talking about refugees and the ways in which they are viewed by the Australian government. In comparison the media discourse will be examined through Nilufer Demir s (2015) photograph of a drowned Syrian child refugee. The image stresses the pivotal role the media plays in constructing and circulating meanings (Hightower, 2014, p.336). With the enactment of the Canada Health Act, citizens may choose their own family physician and do not have to pay premiums, deductibles, or co payments. Other services such as prescription drugs or dental care must be paid for either out of pocket or through private insurances. Because of this free care, O Neill (2008) argued that the demand for health care becomes unrestrained causing costs to surge. This inexplicably triggered shortages in all provinces and explicit rationing had to be implemented in Canada for certain medical treatments and technology (O Neill, 2008). The high demand and severe shortages caused a large increase in private facilities providing core services. I found this book to be the most pragmatic and realistic approach to how to love while also being quite concise. Although I have enjoyed reading and discussing The Great Divorce, The Four Loves, and Beloved through the year, none of them have had the same sense of application for me as that of Henry Drummond s writing. Drummond uses simple language to break down the superiority of love, the composition of love, and the importance of love using the passage 1 Corinthians 13. It is a passage I was familiar with and had even read many similar readings on, but none with such detail. Drummond s writings have made me consider the dialectical tensions involved in communicating with the Body of Christ along with the nature of love and the importance of relationships within the Body of Christ. There are many points of tension within the Body of Christ due to imperfect people and their inability to communicate love perfectly. People are supposed to practice love and with practice comes mistakes. Earth s purpose is to act as an education on for us all to ask ourselves how better can we love (Drummond, 36). Specifically, tensions arise when we become envious or prideful. Since there are often others doing better than us, the temptation to be competitive presents itself often. Clearly, Carlyle s thought was narrow minded, as the biography of Florence Nightingale shows that the history of the world also encompasses the formation of great women. Transformational Opportunities Exist to Integrate the United States Mental Health System Mental illness refers to all diagnosable mental disorders defined as health conditions that are characterized by alterations in thinking, mood or behavior (or some combination thereof) associated with distress and/or impaired functioning. (Williams Torrens, 2008, p. 221) With one in every five American adults experiencing mental illness, the resulting economic burden exceeds $300 billion per year to include approximately $100 billion in direct health care expenditures, $24 billion in disability benefits, and $193 billion in lost earnings. (Insel, 2008) This estimate is conservative as it excludes the components of incarceration, homelessness, comorbid conditions, early mortality and the incalculable costs to families that absorb much of the financial and emotional burdens of these illnesses. Despite the fact mental illness contributes over 6% to the nation s health care spending; the United States (U.S.) mental health system has historically lacked integration with physical medicine and public policy support. Phobias can not only be a biological instinct but rather a conditioned emotional response as well. Though, there has been some argument on what causes phobia it is generally accepted that phobias both stem from biological input and environmental experiences. The first reference to phobias was done by Hippocrates, who wrote about one of his patients having an extreme fearover something that others would deem to be silly. Around the 1890 s phobias were described as a distinct mental condition by Freud and his researchers. Freud the creator of psychoanalysis stated that phobias were simply conflicts within oneself. Thus, to get rid of their phobiathey would have to overcome a part of himself. However, not everyone was willing to agree with Freud, things like behaviorism for example, created a system known as conditioning and stimulus generalization to show that fear is something created through particular behaviors with the use of avoidance.
