Self-leadership is having a developed sense of
who you are, what you can do (abilities,
strengths), where you are going (future, goals),
coupled with effectual communication skills and
the ability to recognize/control emotions.
Some of the intentional behaviors that
characterize Self-leadership are; self-awareness,
self-goal setting, self-motivation, positive self-
talk, assertive communication and the ability to
receive and act on feedback.

Get Healthy. Getting proper rest, eating healthy food, and striving toward fitness may not seem important, but taking care of your physical needs will give you the energy necessary to stay motivated. Network. Being around others who are motivated will help you keep your motivation level raised. Attending conferences, seminars and workshops is a great way to re-charge your batteries. Get Back to Basics. Most leaders who are self-motivated have a specific routine or series of habits they perform each and every day, such as reading inspiring material for a set amount of time. Discover which habits work best for you and perform them daily. Keep Focused. Keeping your goal – and the reason you wish to attain it – before you is one of the best ways to stay self-motivated as a leader. Remember your why. Be Accountable. If you’re struggling to stay self-motivated as a leader, find a trusted friend and ask him or her to help you keep on track of whichever specific project or goal you’re working on. Just knowing you’ll have to report to someone can often give you that extra oomph you need to get things done.
