This document summarizes a research study on the seismic response of reinforced concrete (RC) framed structures with plan and vertical irregularities, with and without masonry infill walls. The study used finite element software to model and analyze a 9-story RC building in a high seismic zone considering different structural configurations. Results from equivalent static, response spectrum, and pushover analyses were compared in terms of base shear, lateral displacement, story drift, and performance point. It was found that lateral displacement and story drift were higher for bare frames compared to infilled frames, while base shear was lower for bare frames. Irregular buildings also experienced higher displacement and drift than regular buildings. The goal of the study was to better understand how different structural

Earthquakes are one of the most life threatening, environmental hazardous and destructive natural phenomenons that causes
shaking of ground. This result in damage to the structures, hence we need to design the buildings to withstand these earthquakes
which may occur at least once in the life time of the structure. Structures possess less stiffness and strength in case of irregular

pushover analysis with the help of ETABS 9.7 software. Addition of X type brace, V type Brace and Inverted V/K type brace shows
that use of X-type of bracing is found more suitable to enhance the performance of the irregular buildings.

Abstract Severe earthquakes have an extremely low probability of occurrence during a structures life. If the earthquakes to be resisted by the structure elastically, it would require an expensive lateral load resisting system, which is not warranty. The structure may lose its aesthetic and functionality due to minor tremors and needs repairs; it will be a very unfavourable design. In addition to earthquake forces there may be wind or any vibrations which induce lateral loads in a structure. In our work we have taken only the earthquake load to find a system which balances the lateral loads and minimizes the displacements of the floors. With the literature review, it was founded that bracing in a structural system reduces the story drift and reduces the lateral force effect. To examine the performance of the bracings, bracing types like X and V bracings are considered and an analysis is performed in ETABS software. The results are studied, discussed and concluded for the best bracing system among both in our project. Keywords: Bracings, Time – History method

PERFORMANCE BASED ANALYSIS OF VERTICALLY IRREGULAR STRUCTURE UNDER VARIOUS SE...Ijripublishers Ijri
In the recent years a lot of attention has been given to the earthquake analysis of structure it is one of the most devastating
natural calamity and which causes severe damage not only to the properties but also to the lives. This is the
reason there has been a lot of focus on the structures to be earthquake resistant. Buildings get damaged mostly due
to the earthquake ground motions. In an earthquake, the building base experiences high frequency movements, which
results in the inertial force on the building and its components and this problem gets worse when a structure is irregular
in shape, size etc,. Therefore, there is a lot to work on the seismic behavior of the irregular building which might not
respond the way regular building does. It makes the irregular building quite more complex and unpredictable during
the course of an earthquake.
Performance of Flat Slab Structure Using Pushover AnalysisIOSR Journals
Performance Based Seismic Engineering is the modern approach to earthquake resistant design. It
is a limit-state based design approach extended to cover complex range of issues faced by structural engineers.
Flat slabs are becoming popular and gaining importance as they are economical as compared to beam-column
connections in conventional slab. Many existing flat slabs may not have been designed for seismic forces so it is
important to study their response under seismic conditions and to evaluate seismic retrofit schemes. In this
paper we have discussed the results obtained by performing push over analysis on flat slabs by using most
common software SAP2000. A (G+7) frame having 5 bays is considered for analysis. It is observed that the

Seismic analysis of vertical irregular multistoried buildingeSAT Journals
Abstract It is understood that buildings which are regular in elevation (regular building) perform much better than those which have irregularity in elevation (irregular building) under seismic loading. Irregularities are not avoidable in construction of buildings. However a detailed study to understand structural behaviour of the buildings with irregularities under seismic loading is essential for appropriate design and their better performance. The main objective of this study is to understand the effect of elevation irregularity and behaviour of 3-D R.C. Building which is subjected to earthquake load. In the present study, a 5 bays X 5 bays, 16 storied structure with provision of lift core walls and each storey height 3.2 m, having irregularity in elevation, is considered as the soft storey 3-D structure. An Irregular building is assumed to be located in all zones. Linear dynamic analysis using Response Spectrum method of the irregular building is carried out using the standard and convenient FE software package. To quantify the effect of different degrees of irregularities all the structures are analysed. In addition, the analysis carried out also enables to understand the behaviour that takes place in irregular buildings in comparison to that in regular buildings. For this the behaviour parameters considered are 1) Maximum displacement 2) Base shear, 3) Time period. Key Words: asymmetric building, soft story, base shear, displacement, soft storey, time period.

Abstract
From past earthquakes it is proved that many of structure are totally or partially damaged due to earthquake. So, it is necessary to determine seismic responses of such buildings. There are different techniques of seismic analysis of structure. Time history analysis is one of the important techniques for structural seismic analysis generally the evaluated structural response is non-linear in nature. For such type of analysis, a representative earthquake time history is required. In this project work seismic analysis of RCC buildings with mass irregularity at different floor level are carried out. Here for analysis different time histories have been used. This paper highlights the effect of mass irregularity on different floor in RCC buildings with time history and analysis is done by using ETABS software.

A study on seismic performance of high rise irregular rc framed buildingseSAT Journals
Abstract Earthquakes are known as one of the most unpredictable and devastating of all natural disasters, however the unpredictable nature of occurrence of these earthquakes makes it difficult to prevent loss of human lives and destruction of properties, if the structures are not designed to resist such earthquake forces. In this paper attempt has been made to study two types of plan irregularities namely diaphragm discontinuity and re-entrant corners in the frame structure. These irregularities are created as per clause 7.1 of IS 1893:2002(part1) code. Various irregular models were considered having diaphragm discontinuity and re-entrant corners which were analysed using ETABS to determine the seismic response of the building. The models were analysed using static and dynamic methods, parameters considered being displacement, base shear and fundamental natural period. From the present study the model which is most susceptible to failure under very severe seismic zone is found, modelling and analysis is carried out using ETABS. Abstract—This paper evaluates deflection of the steel high rise structure due to the P-Delta effect considering the global slenderness of the whole structure. For easy and quick design only Linear Static analysis is performed and secondary loading effect is neglected in several underdeveloped and developing countries of South Asia. Using STAADPro v8i, 40 different model is simulated to observe the severity of the P-Delta phenomenon against standard Linear Static method. 4 different storey were combined with 5 varying span in both direction for varying the slenderness of the structure. During analysis lateral load imposed with UBC94 to perform the seismic events in two directions in the seismic moderate risk zone of Bangladesh using Bangladesh National Building Code (BNBC) corresponding coefficients however wind load is omitted to observe the seismic event effect in Steel high-rise structure solely assuming outcome decision would be same if the simulation would done for wind load also. This analysis reveals how crucial side of the structure generates different deflections with changing slenderness. Test results were evaluated by storey deflection (in mm) and percentage of variation of deflection was performed by comparing P-Delta outputs with Linear Static Method outputs.
P delta effect in reinforced concrete structures of rigid jointYousuf Dinar
ABSTRACT: Popularity of High-Rise structures of rigid joint frame system are increasing day by day to accommodate growing people in metropolitan city and to construct the structures without any special structural component. However combination of rigid frame with RC structure get 30 storey as maximum storey and prone to collapse under severe displacement, axial force and moment, if the P-Delta effects does not included in analysis and design phase. Due to complexity and low knowledge of P-Delta analyses designers, engineers and architectures are prone to perform Linear Static analysis which may eventually become a cause of catastrophic collapse of the high-rise. 12 cases and 2 different analysis are performed to give a light on the P-Delta effect in RC Structures of Rigid Joint which will aware and suggest concerning person to understand, make experience and perform P-Delta analysis of the high-rise for safety using numerical modelling which may accelerate the process and reduce the complexities.
In the present report, at present scenario many buildings are asymmetric in elevation based on the
distribution of mass and stiffness along each storey throughout the height of the building. Most recent
earthquakes have shown that the irregular distribution of mass, stiffness and strengths may cause serious damage
in structural systems. This project performance of the torsionally balanced and torsionally unbalanced buildings
also called as symmetric and asymmetric buildings by subjecting to response-spectrum analysis. The buildings
have un-symmetrical distribution of vertical irregularinstorey’s. In this project the effort is made to study the
effect of eccentricity between centre of mass (CM) and centre of stiffness (CR) on the performance of the
buildings. Three buildings (G+3), (G+6) & (G+9) models are considered for study, which are constructed on
medium soil in seismic zone II of India (as per IS:1893-2002), one symmetric and asymmetric in vertical
irregular distribution. The performance of a multi-storey framed building during sturdy earthquake motions
depends on the distribution of mass, stiffness, and strength in both the horizontal and vertical planes of the
building. In some cases, these weaknesses may be produced by discontinuities in stiffness, strength or mass
between adjoining storeys. Such discontinuities between storeys are often allied with sudden variations in the
frame geometry along the height.

Building structures are analyzed in a single step using linear static analysis on the assumption that the structures are subjected to full load once the whole structure is constructed completely. In reality the dead load due to the each structural components and finishing items are imposed in separate stages as the structures are constructed story by story for nonlinear behavior of materials. Advancement of finite element modeling accelerates the accuracy of finite element simulation by taking the consideration of construction sequential effects. In this paper, rigid frame structures of both concrete and steel model of different configurations have been taken for sequential analysis. The analysis outcomes will help to understand how the structural response against loads varies for construction sequential analysis and linear static analysis while highlighting the material property. For vivid understanding of necessity of sequential analysis, analysis outcomes are eventually compared with conventional one step analysis. The effect of sequence of construction due to the self-weight of members has been studied and its effect on the overall design forces has also been highlighted using finite element modeling.

Seismic performance of r c buildings on sloping grounds with different types ...eSAT Journals
Abstract
Structure are highly susceptible to serve damages in earthquake scenario, so choosing an appropriate lateral force resisting
bracing systems will have a significant effect on performance of the structure. So this present study is aimed at evaluating and
comparing various types of eccentric steel bracings for 12 storey RC frame building resisting on sloping ground configurations.
For this 5 types of bracing systems like X-Bracing, Diagonal bracing, K- bracing, V-bracing and inverted V bracing are
considered on the outer periphery of the buildings with step back and set back – step back type configurations are modeled and
analyzed. The models are compared for different aspects within the structure, such as the maximum storey displacement, base
shear, storey drift and storey shear, the structure is analyzed for seismic zone V and medium soil condition as per IS 1893:2002
using ETABS software. Results conclude that on sloping ground due to irregularity on ground surface, the structures are more
vulnerable to earthquakes. Hence use of eccentric steel bracing is an effective and economical way to resist earthquake forces,
Inverted V type bracing performs well compared to other bracing types. By using inverted V type bracing in step back buildings
types maximum storey displacement of 70% and storey drift of 66% are obtained. Similarly for setback – step back configuration
maximum storey displacement of 74% and storey drift of 70% are obtained respectively.

Strengthening of RC Framed Structure Using Energy Dissipation DevicesIOSR Journals
A large numbers of existing buildings in India are severely deficient against earthquake forces and
the number of such buildings is growing very rapidly. This paper presents a way of using energy dissipation
devices for seismic strengthening of a RC framed structure. The objective was to improve the seismic
performance of the building to resist the earthquake. The viscous dampers are used as an energy dissipation
device in the form of single, double, inverted V, V type of dampers with different percentages of damping such
as 10%, 20% and 30% to prevent building from collapse in a major earthquake and also to control the damage
during earthquake. The performance of the buildings is assessed as per the procedure prescribed in ATC-40
and FEMA 356.

storey in which the stiffness is less than 70% of the storey above or less
than 80% of the combined stiffnesses of the three storeys above. It is the general practice in the multistoreyed buildings to
accommodate parking facilities for the vehicles of the occupants of the building. As we know that the soft storey in a building
structure causes stiffness irregularity in a structure, due to this the structure undergoes unequal storey drifts, formation of the
plastic hinges and then finally resulting into the collapse of the structure. This research work purely interacts with the effect of the
soft storeys in the analysis of RC framed structures as entitled above, and in this work the soft storeys positions has been provided
at different levels as shown in the analytical modelling. All the models are analyzed by using the ETABS software. The seismic
analysis performed consists of the Equivalent static analysis (ESA), response spectrum analysis (RSA), and the push over analysis
(PA). The seismic base shear forces, storey drifts, and the displacements has been compared with the three analysis methods as
listed above. With the aid of the push over analysis the values of the ductility and the response reduction factor have been
obtained. Apart from these, the performance point parameters such as spectral acceleration(Sa) , spectral displacement (Sd),
Base shear(V) and the roof displacement(D) has been also illustrated in this work and a detailed information of several stages of

NUMERICAL SIMULATIONS OF HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER IN CONDENSING HEAT EXCHANGERS...ssuser7dcef0
Power plants release a large amount of water vapor into the
atmosphere through the stack. The flue gas can be a potential
source for obtaining much needed cooling water for a power
plant. If a power plant could recover and reuse a portion of this
moisture, it could reduce its total cooling water intake
requirement. One of the most practical way to recover water
from flue gas is to use a condensing heat exchanger. The power
plant could also recover latent heat due to condensation as well
as sensible heat due to lowering the flue gas exit temperature.
Additionally, harmful acids released from the stack can be
reduced in a condensing heat exchanger by acid condensation. reduced in a condensing heat exchanger by acid condensation.
Condensation of vapors in flue gas is a complicated
phenomenon since heat and mass transfer of water vapor and
various acids simultaneously occur in the presence of noncondensable
gases such as nitrogen and oxygen. Design of a
condenser depends on the knowledge and understanding of the
heat and mass transfer processes. A computer program for
numerical simulations of water (H2O) and sulfuric acid (H2SO4)
condensation in a flue gas condensing heat exchanger was
developed using MATLAB. Governing equations based on
mass and energy balances for the system were derived to
predict variables such as flue gas exit temperature, cooling
water outlet temperature, mole fraction and condensation rates
of water and sulfuric acid vapors. The equations were solved
using an iterative solution technique with calculations of heat
and mass transfer coefficients and physical properties.

Cosmetic shop management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
Buying new cosmetic products is difficult. It can even be scary for those who have sensitive skin and are prone to skin trouble. The information needed to alleviate this problem is on the back of each product, but it's thought to interpret those ingredient lists unless you have a background in chemistry.
Instead of buying and hoping for the best, we can use data science to help us predict which products may be good fits for us. It includes various function programs to do the above mentioned tasks.
Data file handling has been effectively used in the program.
The automated cosmetic shop management system should deal with the automation of general workflow and administration process of the shop. The main processes of the system focus on customer's request where the system is able to search the most appropriate products and deliver it to the customers. It should help the employees to quickly identify the list of cosmetic product that have reached the minimum quantity and also keep a track of expired date for each cosmetic product. It should help the employees to find the rack number in which the product is placed. It is also Faster and more efficient way.
