Speech On Zora Neale Hrston
eneral purpose: To inform
Specific Purpose: To inform the audience about how influential Zora Neale Hurston was.
Thesis/Central Idea: The three specific things about Zora Neale Hurston that makes her influential
/admirable include being a key figure in the Harlem Renaissance, an anthropologist, and an
American writer regarding folklore.
Introduction
I. (Attention Getter) Quote by Zora Neale Hurston about Harlem Renaissance It would be against
all nature for all the Negroes to be either at the bottom, top, or in between. We will go where the
internal drive carries us like everybody else. It is up to the individual.
II. (Relevancy Statement) One of the reasons Zora Neale Hurston is an influential person was
because of her works at the time of the Harlem Renaissance. This quote combines both the
reawakening of creativity and the ambitious push for others to put forth their own creative works.
III. (Credibility Statement) In 1926, Zora and a collection of other young writers including
Langston Hughes and Wallace Thurman produced a literary magazine called Fire!! This showcased
the art of the Harlem Renaissance. Their Eyes Were Watching God was written by Zora during her
field trip to Haiti and is now regarded as a classic African American feminist text. Their Eyes Were
Watching God rejects assimilating White America s cultural standards, but instead celebrated
African American communities.

Bierila BartoГіk Research Paper
BГ©la BartГіk, born in NagyszentmiklГіs, Hungary, is regarded as one of the most successful and
prominent Hungarian composers. He was also an ethnomusicologist and pianist. Since being an
ethnomusicologist, he was a relentless collector and analyst of folk music...[and his works were]
highly influenced by his ethnomusicological studies, particularly those of Hungarian (Gillies,
Malcolm, Bela, Bartok). BartГіk traveled across Hungary and Eastern Europe, learning and
recording with early phonographical devices the unique musiche heard. In 1908, BartГіk was
traveling the countryside of Hungary. He came across Magyar folk music, or peasant folk music,
which in that time was in categorized as Gypsy music. He found that old peasant folk music used
pentatonic scales and was the true folk music of Hungary (BГ©la BartГіk s Musical Style). During
this time period, composers were utilising folk music as a cultural construct to represent their
nationalistic pride. In 1931, BartГіk took the Magyar folk music he found and incorporated into his
compositions. He did this by devising more and more elaborate accompaniments for the melodies,
shifting the emphasis from the original tune [for example, peasant folk music from Hungary] to the
total effect of its presentation [his own work] (BГ©la... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nationalism is about bringing in your native country s old music, and incorporating it into
something modern (Nationalism in Music). BartГіk utilised this tactic and wrote many
compositions with folk song influences from various nations. BartГіk enjoyed discovering and
collecting old music, and tweaking it to make it new. He felt liberated when using the old peasant
modes and pentatonic scales; instead of the restraining traditional major and minor tonality (BГ©la
BartГіk s Musical Style). BГ©la BartГіk largely incorporated nationalism and folk music into his

Rhetorical Analysis Of The Film Thank You For Smoking
Thank you for Smoking
Introduction
The film Thank you for Smoking is a dark comedy where the primary protagonist, Nick Naylor is
a lobbyist. He talks for the cigarette industry and will not extra the American Authorities or even
the press. At the in advance, the film prominently tackles all these topics but deep down it also
portrays the partnership between a dad and a son.
Rhetorical and arguments analysis
In a single conversation between a father and a son, Naylor coaches his son Joey by telling him
the beauty of argument: if you argue correctly, you re never wrong . This depicts a framework of
Nick s personality and probably explains the reason why as to the reasons he will not lose quarrels.
It is because he reframes the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think that we are in need of freedom . This shows the fallacy of red herring. In this type of
rhetorical strategy, the emphasis is shifted from the primary concern for an unrelated or tangential
concern to earn a disagreement.
In another debate Naylor uses the red herring fallacy. That is explicated when he s asked to
testify before the senatorial committee. He says Gentlemen, it s called education ... It s the job
of each mother or father to alert their children of all risks in the world, including smokes, so that
1 day when they grow older they can decide for themselves. Here again, Nick waves from the
central subject of cigarettes compared to that of parental responsibility, freedom and education. He
s well aware that People in america love their freedom and therefore takes on with these words to
regulate their feelings.
Naylor also uses the faulty analogy fallacy in the senatorial committee conference. He compares the
Conglomerated Cigarette s cigarette financing with the financing for the senate s marketing
campaign contributions. The advertisement hominem fallacy is utilized by Naylor when he
suggests placing indicators on certain products like Vermont cheddarcheese, aeroplanes and cars.
The red herring fallacy is again used when Naylor highlights the unwanted effects of Vermont
cheddar cheese on increasing cholesterol levels. Actually, Senator Lothridge must interrupt to
recreate Naylor and Senator Finisterre back

What Does Fate In A Prayer For Owen Meany
Fate is a common theme in many cultures, with people either attempting to rebel against it or
embracing it. However, throughout these stories, people very rarely break away from their
destiny. A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving is a story where fate is heavily involved, with
the main character Owen Meany receiving visions of the futureand accepting his destiny. Owen
Meany demonstrates that fate is inescapable, and should be embraced. Unlike most stories
involving fate, A Prayer for Owen Meanydoes not focus on God or divine power, and is instead
closer to magical realism. Throughout the novel, the author withholds information, constantly
changes the time as he is narrating, and has many people do not believe in the miracles of Owen
Meany. A Prayer for Owen Meany can fit in many categories, but with these aspects of magical
realism, it is the best genre to put it in.
The story is told as Johnny narrates it, looking back on his childhood, and he includes any
stories he believes are important to understanding the development of himself and Owen. While
telling these stories, he constantly changes the part of his childhood he is talking about. Besides
the sudden jumps in years, Johnny also skips over days or even weeks at once, not bothering to
explain what happened during that time. At one point, he is talking about how he could see
Owen was at least as high as the palm trees (Irving 626). In the very next sentence, he skips
presumably weeks ahead, to talk about how Major Rawls saw to it that Owen Meany got a
medal (Irving 626). Time being nonlinear is an aspect of magical realism, and with all the jumps
and skips, the timeline is very strange and a little difficult to piece together. The jumping of time
also plays into the theme of fate a little, as fate is all about the future. Telling the future before
previous events are explained makes the reader feel like Owen, knowing some of the future but
not the events that lead up to it. Not knowing information is also an aspect of magical realism, and
several major subplots involve the past the author keeps hidden. For two thirds of the book, and ten
years of his life, Johnny does not know who his father is, or what unspeakable outrage the Catholic
church

What Does Combo Represent In This Is England
Within Meadows This is England, the character of Combo is a representation of the second wave
skinhead movement which was a response to the unemployment that deindustrialisation brought to
England in the 1980s. As a character, he represents the old ideas about national identity, which are
heavily focused on pride in Englandand the men that fought for it. Combo delivers his famous
This is England speech, declaring that men have died So we can stick our fucking flag in the
ground and say This is England and [points to heart] This is England and [points to head] This is

Sexual Fluidity In The Media Essay
My research will look at gender and sexual fluidity, analysing its portal in the Irish media. Due to
the growing social change over the last two decades, a discourse analysis through time, looking at
how sexuality is discussed through time it can be argued that people in Ireland now have the ability
to talk more about sexuality and sexual identity.
This research will look at the writings of queer theorists such as Debbie Ging, whose reflections
on Irish cinema can also be used to talk about the change in Irish media, this New Ireland , in
which increased affluence and the decline of religion have created a new sexual landscape. This
can be seen in recent stories in the Irish media such as the recent coming out of an RTÉ news
reporter, which made headlines in September, RTÉ news reporter Johnathan Clynch identifies as
gender fluid , 2015 . The research methods used will be qualitative methods and will focus on
analysing recent stories in the media relating to sexual or gender fluidity, all occurring within the
last year. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The media and recent laws relating to marriage equality reflect the fast changing attitudes in society
towards a minority who were once criminalised and condoned.
This research aims to illustrate the growing acceptance of non normative sexualities and gender
identities by focusing on the media representation and looking at recent research into the topic of
sexual fluidity. Some of the questions this research will focus on are;
Is there a gender difference in sexual fluidity?
Does sexual fluidity lead to increased minority stress? How is sexual and gender fluidity
represented in the media?
I hope my research can inform people interested in sexual fluidity and contribute to the already
available research in this

The Negative Impact of Social Networking Sites on People
Social Networking Sites People have been impacted by social networking sites. Social
networking sites have a negative influence on our generation because of bullying, predation, and
an effect on our education. With kids interacting freely they can come across predation.
Furthermore, some predators have an objective of enticing young people into sending
inappropriate webcam photos of themselves or to engage in sexually explicit conversations
(Sexton and English 2). Kids are the easiest to manipulate and to take control of. Also, critics of
social networking sites claim that it contributes to predatory or stalking behavior and can used to
invade privacy (Belanger and Finley 1). Parents should be going through their children s profile to
make sure who they are talking to. Clearly, with kids sending private information about themselves
they can be blackmailed by the receiver into mental and physical abuse. Our generation is mostly
being affected by cyberbullying. Additionally, anonymity online can cause people to engage in
cyberbullying or other anti social behavior because of limited fear of being caught or identified
(Sexton and English 2). With the idea of not getting caught, people think it s funny to cyberbully. In
addition to, social networking websites are virtual communities that encourage and foster
interaction among members of a group by allowing them to post personal information, communicate
with other users and connect their profiles to other profiles

Hester Prynne Rebellion Quotes

Hester Prynne of Nathanial Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter defies the Puritan belief system
through her rebellion and compassion. Hester defies the Puritan belief system through her
rebellion. Hester Prynne, while in Boston waiting for her husband to come from Amsterdam,
commits the crime of adultery and gives birth to a child, causing her to be punished. Hawthorne
describes her crime in dialogue between Hester s husband, who has just arrived in Boston and is
unaware of Hester s circumstances, and a towns member who infers as to what she has done and
how much of an uproar it has caused, during her public punishment, in the government forces her to

This page describing her crime shows how Hester defies the Puritan belief system through
rebellion because the crime of adultery is a serious sin in their religion, showing that she purposely
disobeys the laws of their religion by having an affair. Hester Prynne also defies the Puritan belief
system through the scene where she immerges from the jail cell and is seen in public with her
wedlock child for the first time. Hawthorne describes the manner in which she immerges from the
jail and how the town reacts, in the quote Those who had before known her, and had expected to
behold her dimmed and obscured by a disastrous cloud, were astonished, and even startled, to
perceive how her beauty shone out, and made a halo of the misfortune and ignominy in which she
had enveloped (46). This quote shows Hester s rebellion against the Puritan beliefs because, due to
how serious her crime is seen in the Puritan community, the town members had expected her to
show sorrow, shame, and weakness as she walked from the jail cell. But, instead she walks out with
her head held high, ignoring their judgment, showing no shame and in the crime she committed,
and disregarding the mannerisms the Puritan s expected of her. Along with her rebellion, Hester
Prynne defies the Puritan belief system

Importance Of The 1st Amendment
In total, America has 27 Amendments all together but which one is the most important you may
ask, well that s was this is about. I believe that the 1st Amendment is the most important out of
them all . The 1st Amendment is freedom of Religion, Speech, Press, Assembly, and Petition.
Freedom of religion and speech are one of the best things a country can have and also something
everyone believes they should have. Everyone should be able to say or do anything they want
without fear. Also freedom of press is the right to publish newspapers, magazines, and other printed
matter without governmental restriction and subject only to the laws of libel, obscenity, sedition,
etc. ( www.dictionary.com) . Freedom of Assembly is The right to hold public meetings and form
associations without interference by the government. Freedom of peaceful assembly is guaranteed
by the First Amendment to the Constitution.
Last but not least is Freedom of Petition According to ( The Free Dictionary , 2017) a formal
written request to a court for an order of the court. It is distinguished from a complaint in a
lawsuit which asks for damages and/or performance by the opposing party. Petitions include
demands for writs, orders to show cause, modifications of prior orders, continuances, dismissal of
a case, reduction of bail in criminal cases, a decree of distribution of an estate, appointment of a
guardian, and a host of other matters arising in legal actions.

From a young age, building things interested me, so I chose a task in which I constructed a

amount of weight it could sustain. From the outset we were disadvantaged: we had far less

Baby Driver Reflection
I was hesitant to watch Baby Driver, despite liking the trailers and talent involved, because I
have yet to see a full Edgar Wright film. I ve seen parts of Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and Scott
Pilgrim vs. the World. I liked what I saw, but I wasn t sure I wanted to have my introduction to
Wright be his fifth film. Well, my willpower broke and I m happier for it.
Baby Driver focuses on the eponymous Baby (Ansel Elgort), a getaway driver working for a crime
boss (the now disgraced Kevin Spacey). Things get more complicated when Baby meets Debora
(Lilly James), a waitress who steals his heart, and gets involved in a job with some volatile
coconspirators.
Of the several joys of this film, not the least of them is acting. That starts with Elgort, who is
impressive as Baby. He makes him someone we instantly like, with his cool demeanor and
infectious enthusiasm for music. We root for him right away, and that holds when we learn more
about him and Elgort convincingly portrays those depths.
As much as I liked Elgort, I probably liked James work even more. She does a lot with little to
work with as Debora. Her character doesn t have much depth on the page, but James has a
magnetic screen presence. She nails each scene and makes you believe her character is a real
person with many dimensions, even though the movie doesn t really explore them.
For the supporting cast, Spacey is quite good as the crime boss Doc. He s got a menacing vibe
about his serious persona and,

The Influence Of The Old English
In the development of English, invasions and other historical events were huge factors that had
influence to the process. Through the history, the language especially English has been changed
very much. When we see the Shakespeare s sonnet, we can find out that his sonnet is written in
early Modern English but that language is not quite different from Modern English. However,
when we read the poem which was written in the Old English period, many of us can realize that
Old English is very different from the Modern English. When Old English was changed into Middle
English, there was an important historical event, the Norman Conquest. In this report, I would like

As William the Conqueror brought the Normans to England, the Norman culture, language or
Feudalism could be accepted without any resistance of England people. Also the nobilities who
helped William in the battle became the lords and they lost their own language (Old English)
and began to use Old French dialect which is called Old Norman. Since the leaders of Normans
used Old Norman, language which was related to politics, religious began to change. Especially,
Norman from France had huge influence in politics and Anglo Saxons had to step down from
their status. Conquerors were proud of themselves as a French people, and they designated
Norman French as a national language of England. Since then, the upper class and educated
people used Anglo Norman that was developed from Norman French and Old English was used
only by the lower class, and as a result the status that old English had was collapsed. That is,
because Norman people kept away from using Old English and adopted Anglo Norman, Norman
language has huge influence in Middle English period unlike in Old English period. All social

Japanese Mythology Research Paper
What is Japanese mythology? Well, they are a body of stories that were compiled from oral
traditions concerning the legends, gods, ceremonies, customs, practices and historical accounts of
the Japanese people. Most of the Japanese myths are collectively chronicled in the Kojiki, the
oldest historical record written in 712 AD and the Nihon Shoki, which was compiled in 720 AD.
Both of these works tell the origin of the ruling class and apparently were aimed at strengthening its
authority. In conclusion, they are not considered as pure myths and contain political views as well.
They are based on two traditions: the Yamato cycle and the Izumo cycle. The Yamato cycle is

The first part is the birth of Japan. A central foundation was now laid down for the drifting
cosmos, and mud and sand accumulated upon it. A stake was driven in, and an inhabitable place

superiors, they stood on a floating bridge in heaven and stirred the ocean with a spear. When the

spontaneously. When they reunited together, at the base of Ame no mihashira and the two fell

Car manufacturers sometimes choose odd names for their vehicles. Most such names, including

Process Of Aging Essay
The process of aging presents numerous challenges to the individual who is aging and also to
those surrounding and caring for that individual. In many circumstances, older individuals are in
need of support 24 hours a day. It may be as simple as an individual just needing assistance to the
restroom a few times a day, to as complicated as an individual requiring constant supervision and
guidance when suffering from severe dementia. In either case, and in all the cases in between those
two on the spectrum of care, the caregiver and those being cared for could benefit from adult day
services. As individuals age, they frequently become more dependent on those around them for
assistance physically, emotionally, medically, and financially. Often times, children find themselves

This time may be needed for the caretaker to work, it may also allow for imperative rest for long
term caretakers. Those who have the opportunity to take care of themselves make much better
caretakers for others.
The older individuals who attend ADS also benefit tremendously. Time spent with peers, either
socializing or just being present, can be an invaluable tool to combat depression and anxiety.
Also, while playing games such as bingo or bridge may seem childish, they are a great way to
keep the brain active. In fact a study of 257 older persons attending social senior centres in the
USA, found that many (n=173) felt their lives had improved as a result of attending the centre

The Effects Of High Compliance Rate On Municipal City Of...
Research Design and Methodology
4.1Introduction
The purpose of this study is to find out what are the causes of the high compliance rate in property
taxes in the municipal city of Portmore, Jamaica. Taxes are of essential importance to small
developing countries as they do not have much needed resources. As further developments takes
place in the municipal city property values will increase, hence the amount of property tax collected
by the Portmore municipal council will also increase. This increase however, is not a guarantee that
the tax collection will be sufficient in the maintenance of the community due to the rising cost of
goods and services. Hence continuous voluntary compliance is essential and important as it most
efficient for both the tax payer and the tax authorities.
This section gives the hypothesis or research perspectives, the design of the research and the
methods that were used to gather the data.
4.2 Hypotheses/ Research Perspectives
My research perspective on the Municipal City of Portmore attaining the highest compliance rate
property tax collections in Jamaica are:
That the tax payers have recognised the need and importance of property tax to the community.
The taxpayers are knowledgeable about property tax and the consequences if not paid.
The local authorities are ensuring that the community is well maintained by effectively and
efficiently using the tax collecting in providing services such as timely collection of garbage,

The Problem Of Drugs And Alcohol Abuse
Introduction
My chosen contemporary social problem is drugs and alcohol abuse. It goes without saying that
drugs and alcohol abuse is one of the most significant social problems not only in the United
States but also around the world. As a matter of facts, drugs and alcohol abuse is a problem with
innumerable effects both on the body and mind of a person. Many times, these adverse impacts

There are those who view addiction as a choice and firmly believe that drug addicts did this to
themselves. In one way of combating this problem, President Donald Trump declared opioid
crisis a state emergency. He claimed that the epidemic exceeded anything he had witnessed with
any other drugs in his entire life (Jacobs, 2016). By making this everyone s problem, Trump is
ably working on his major plan to combat these two problematic drugs by building a wall on the
US Mexico border.
Approach
As already mentioned, most people in Boston do not give any weight to the escalating drugs and
alcohol abuse problem. In fact, some view it as a self inflicted problem, and this has made Boston
a region with the highest rate of emergency room visits as a result of illicit drugs and heroin related
cases. The suburban kids are stereotyped as the most affected and that they get hooked on heroin as
a cheaper option to other prescription medication.
I have grown up knowing that this is a problem many children all over the world have had to deal
with, such that they grow up without their parents and those who are lucky enough are taken into
foster homes. Unfortunately, the higher percentage of them ends up becoming street children. The
effects of drugs and alcohol abuse are adverse to all people irrespective of their age, race, and
religion. However, growing up in a society

Abstract
The purpose of his proposal is to provide inquiry and identify the best way to implement
fundamental plans to individuals who wish to build and run a small business in addition to the lack
of information they may bear on the importance and sustainability of protecting their networks and
data against cyber attacks.
Figure 1: Map Display of international cyber attacks. Introduction
In recent years, Cybercrime has increased radically and it is becoming more vital for people to
grant protection on their computers and data just as they do with anything else they deem needs to
be secured. The improved rate for the need of security also applies to conceptual institutes of small
businesses. Small businesses keep record of client, personal, product, and explicit company finance
information and data. With this wealth of information and the increase in cybercrime, small
businesses need an effective solution to defend their computer systems and data from cyber
attackers.
Small business computer and data security is an imperative dispute that needs to be resolved.

The Chrysanthemums
Prompt: How do the chrysanthemums as well as other symbols throughout the short story show
women s role in society?
A Potential for Equality Humans, just as flowers, cannot fully live without sunlight. They cannot
develop without nourishment, and most of all they cannot flourish if not carefully tended to. Just as
the Chrysanthemums fight to stay strong and meaningful in the short story, The Chrysanthemums by
John Steinbeck, the main character, Emily, tries to do the same. Both the setting and overall mood
of the characters, support the comparison of Emily to her Chrysanthemums. She is faced with
many obstacles such as her oblivious husband and her lack of exposure to the world. Steinbeck s

Elisa s frustration of being held back as a woman is reflected in her masculine description because
she wishes to be treated as a man; with equality and recognition. Elisa s hard work and passion she
puts into her chrysanthemums makes her feel strong and powerful. But the chrysanthemums also
symbolize Elisa and her limited possibilities because they are both often overlooked.
Throughout the short story, Elisa has a strong connection with her chrysanthemums. Not only does
their maintenance take up most of her time, but they resemble her role in society quite
figuratively. From their physical appearances to their overall meaning to the world, both the
flowers and Elisa lack any sort of significance. Chrysanthemums are most often referred to by
their symbol of optimism and joy; which are both feelings brought to Elisa as she tends to her
flowers. Also being perennials, these flowers come back year after year which is represented
through the reoccurring theme of Elisa s strive to be equal. The chrysanthemums not only represent
her role in society, but they also speak for many women throughout the world today that deserve
more exposure and equality than they are given.

A River Runs Through Us Essay
A River Runs Through Us 1. The Anacostia River is a metaphor for the way poor people and
minorities are treated (Hoover). In 1994, the Anacostia River was fourth on the list of American
Rivers Most Endangered Rivers (Rynor). Since the late 19 th century the water quality in this river
has slowly declined with the onset of urbanization and industrialization and the pollution that
accompanies this growth. The Anacostia is severely polluted with sediment, nutrients, pathogens,
toxins, and trash( Cleaning ). And it is no coincidence that the riverruns through some of
Washington D.C. s poorest communities in the south eastern sectionsof the city.

The north west sections of town contribute to most of the pollution plaguing the Anacostia River.
4. One resident of Anacostia said he has seen used hypodermic needles washing up along the
shoreline and ducks so thick on the water that it looked as if he could walk across their backs to
the other side (Lee). The ducks he describes have died as a result of the extreme pollution. This
description shows the dangerous effects of the pollution and the fact that it is killing the river s
wildlife as well as endangering residents. It is unsafe for residents of the area to swim or fish in
the river because of its extreme pollution and health risks. Recently, there have been signs posted
along the river which warn residents of the hazardous waters. However, for many years the
pollution of the Anacostia River was Washington s dirty little secret (Cohn, Warnings ) and there
were no signs warning people of the pollution.
5. The fact that the Anacostia River is Washington s dirty little secret reflects the attitude of the rest
of the city towards Anacostia. A great majority of the District prefers to ignore the underlying
problems faced by Anacostia; this ignorance is reflected in the condition of the river running

The Importance Of Isolation In SocietyBy Lahiri
Lahiri shows that one s cultural upbringing and their ability to assimilate isolate a person from
others, that holding onto one s past and societies expectation for one to assimilate immediately
make it harder for individuals to assimilate into society, and that holding onto memories of your
past help you navigate through the loneliness. Isolation within society is caused by where one
comes from and if they are willing to conform to the norm in their new situation. Early in the short
story, lahiri shows the Sen s apartment to be out of the norm by describing all the quirks it has,
one of which is through their shoes. They are both didn t wear shoes in the house, instead they
wore flip flops. Yet later on that page Lahiri outs Eliot s mother by saying, Yet his mother, Eliot
thought, in her cuffed, beige shorts and her rope soled shoes, who looked odd. (Lahiri 112). In
this Lahiri shows how being isolated as the odd one in a situation depends on the actions of those
around you in society, and because she was the minority within this scenario, keeping her shoes on
while the others didn t wear shoes, she is the odd one out. This exemplifies how it is dependent on
your upbring and assimilationthat one is left out in the cold, because if she had been raised in a
similar area, she would know the custom or if she been observant enough she could have seen and
then adapted to be included. Unlike his mother, Eliot shows how through assimilationa person can

Negative Effects Of Cosmetic Surgery On Society
Cosmetic surgery is used to restore, recreate, or modification of the human body. Over 4000
years ago reports of cosmetic surgery trends ended the region. The first report of surgery was done
in India by an Indian doctor. Later, these reports progressed in different parts of the world.
However, in 1916, world war soldier and sailor Walter Yao suffered terrible facial injuries, including
the loss of his upper and lower eyelids. By 1917, he received treatment from Sir Harold Gilliesand

Although cosmetic surgery is used for restoration of self esteemand to fix health issues; but it is

Becoming beautiful has been one of the topmost objective people sought throughout the centuries;

This can also be said about different confidence levels that various people established for

Similarly, in his speech, The Chief Speckled Snake sarcastically attacks the white man to show the

that all people desire violence.
This Indian Chief repeatedly mocks Andrew Jackson as great fire to show the man that Jackson

Role in Inducing and Maintaining the Pluripotency of Mice...
Several members of the zinc finger family of proteins are key components in the transcriptional
network maintaining pluripotency in embryonic stem cells. The mouse zinc finger protein 322a
(Zfp322a) is expressed in embryonic stem cells and the ICM. Thus Ma et al. 2014 hypothesized
that Zfp322a functions as a transcription factor in mice. Ma et al. (2014) discovered that Zfp322a
is an irreplaceable transcription factor which enhances the reprogramming ability of OKSM (Oct4,
Klf4, Sox2, and c Myc) and can replace Sox2 in OKSM in the generation of induced pluripotent
stem cells (iPSCs).
First, in order to determine whether or not Zfp322a is a transcription factor in mice, the authors
analyzed its expression in mouse embryonic stem (mES) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A gene ontology search revealed that Zfp322a is involved in diverse cellular processes. A
microarray approach determined that Zfp322a is able to directly repress and activate a number of
the genes it binds. Importantly, this microarray approach confirmed the author s previous
observation that Zfp322a represses the MAPK cascade.
Previously, two nodes in the transcriptional network maintaining pluripotency were identified by
Chen et al. 2008. Interestingly however, Zfp322a did not preferentially interact with either the c
Myc or Sox2/Oct4 transcription factor clusters. Zfp322a s 10 C2H2 zinc finger domains bind the
major groove of DNA (Lodish et al. 2013), and may give Zpf322a the ability to bind a diverse
array of DNA sequences. In support of this hypothesis, no DNA consensus sequence for Zfp322a
binding was identified. Zfp322a co localized equally with all 12 of the transcription factors tested.
Coupled with Zfp322a s dynamic ability to concomitantly repress differentiation, these observations
suggest a more profound role for Zpf322a. From the genome wide analysis of Zfp322a regulation
the authors concluded that Zfp322a is an integral component in the pluripotency regulatory network.
Zfp322a may contribute to chromatin remodeling associated with maintenance of mES chromatin.
Ma et al. 2014 identified a large number of genes enriched with Zfp322a that were involved in
chromatin modification,

The Goals in Issues of Obamacare
The new health care reform law in America, Obamacare, increases the quality, availability, and
affordability of private and public health insurance to 44 million uninsured. It also is working to
curb the growth in healthcare spending in the U.S. which has been rising at an unsustainable rate.
Obamacare was passed in the senate on December 24, 2009, and passed in the house on March 21,
2010. It was signed into law by President Barack Obamaon March 23, 2010, and upheld in the
supreme court on June 28, 2012. The concept behind Obamacare was the individual mandate, which
requires that most Americans obtain health insuranceby the end of 2014 or they will have to pay a
tax penalty. This concept was first brought about by The Heritage Foundation as an alternative for
the single payer initiative, Medicare . This reform wasn t proposed or expanded until it was
implemented in Massachusetts by Governor Romney. During the 2008 elections, healthcare was a
booming subject for the Democratic party.
The Affordable Care Act includes measures to eliminate pre existing conditions, stop insurance
companies from dropping people when they are sick or unhealthy, expand the Medicaid, and
create state specific health insurance marketplaces to allow those who are in the middle or lower
classes so they can shop for free or low costing insurance. After these several changes, President
Barak Obama signed the Affordable Care Act into law on March 23, 2010. This Affordable Care

Carnegie Writes A Great Deal About How Individual Children
Carnegie writes a great deal about how individual children are often spoiled and therefore harmed
by wealth. He states that one reason estates and wealth are left to children is so that the vanity of
the parent may be gratified by the thought that his name and title are to descend to succeeding
generations unimpaired (489). Doing so is injudicious because it is simply the egotism of that
parent which then leaves unearned and undeserved wealthand estate to their children children who
often have no other qualifications and no commitment to use it wisely or respect the value of that
money. Carnegie goes on to explain how often, when a child without proper morals and education is
granted inheritance, they will lose it. For example, he... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

these things and they are not qualified, it is dangerous to leave them the business or wealth

Financial Crisis Across The World Since Currency Essay
There has been a financial crisis across the world since currency came about. It started with the
barter system which allowed people to trade goods and services, but this sometimes proved to be
more difficult than beneficial. Then around 600 B.C., coins and currency came about. Since then
currency went from being precious metals to paper money. With the development of currency,
came international trade. Banks and the ruling classes started buying currencies from other
nations and created the first currency market. The stability of a particular monarchy or
government affected the value of the country s currency and the ability for that country to trade
on an increasingly international market. The competition between countries often led to
currency wars, where competing countries would try to affect the value of the competitor s
currency by driving it up and making the enemy s goods too expensive, by driving it down and
reducing the enemy s buying power (and ability to pay for a war), or by eliminating the currency
completely (Beattie, 2007). Money gets its value by being a medium of exchange, a unit of
measurement and a storehouse for wealth. Money allows people to trade goods and services
indirectly and understand the price of goods. We can see the evidence of financial crisisthroughout
time with the credit crisis of 2007 2008 and the Russian Crisis of 1998 and its global impact.

Japan s World s Third Largest Economy
Japan is a vital economic power not only in Asia, but the world as well. It is currently the world s
third largest economy, previously in second place, behind America and China respectively
(GlobalEdge). Like many other countries within the Pacific, Japan is a part of APEC (Asian Pacific
Economic Cooperation). This is a forum that works towards a higher standard of living...through
sustainable economic growth. (APEC, GlobalEdge). Despite the fact of how comfortable/well off
Japan seems, they are currently facing multiple issues within their economyand societal factors.
One major issue Japan is facing today involves their declining population, and the quick growth
of the older generation. The current population growth rate is at 0.163%, and it is expected to
continuously drop over time. This factor negatively affects Japan s work force/labor pool,
seeing as how there is a larger amount of elderly people compared to younger ones that should
be working. Japan s labor force in total is estimated at 65 million people (GlobalEdge), which is a
little over half of the population (127 million). Their unemployment rate is at 3.4% (OECD), which
is relatively good compared to America s 5.5% (U.S. Bureau). This rate is also much lower than the
rates in 2011 when unemployment was at 4.50% (Japan Unemployment.).
Japan is a developed country that has a high income: OECD (World Bank), it is also ranked 4th out
of 193 countries based on its GDP. Its current GDP, PPP at market price in US$

Persuasive Essay On Human Cloning
Human cloning is the genetically identical copy of a human. Human cloning has a history of not
going as planned and ending up with a lot of death. However, They can also be a huge benefit to
our society. It depends on how much people know about human cloning, and how developed human
cloning is at the time.
Bioethics is the study of the ethical issues emerging from advances in biology and medicine. It is
also moral discernment as it relates to medical policies and practice. In bioethics, the ethics of
cloning refers to a variety of ethical positions regarding the practice and possibilities of cloning,
especially human cloning. While many of these views are religious in origin, the questions raised
by cloning are faced by secular perspectives as well. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

One type of Human Cloning is Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer(SCNT). In Somatic Cell Nuclear

The On The Block Chain
The public ledger is also called the block chain, which is again distributed to users, to
independently verify the chain of ownership of every bitcoin amount which approximately six
times per hour, the groups of accepted transactions between users is added to the block chain that
in turn publishes it to the nodes. Doing so allows the software to determine when specific bitcoin
amounts have been spent which is necessary, in order to prevent the double spending of currency
which eliminates the need for a central authority, something that can be thought of like a fail safe to
prevent fraud. Preventing double spending by people is necessary for the system to keep the block

As the number becomes smaller, the longer the average it would take to find a required nonce, due
to the lower probability that a particular value will produce less than the target. This is further
solidified by the act of the bitcoin system of periodically adjusting the difficulty target so that the
average time the network needs to find a nonce is about 10 minutes. By doing this, as computer
hardware gets faster by the growth of technology regarding computer hardware over the years, the
protocol will simply adjust its mining target to make mining always last around 10 minutes thus
creating an objective regulation which does not give anyone an advantage, something the current
system is consciously lacking with the presence of day trading and the profession of investors in
general. This acts as an additional safeguard against those wishing to create unfair advantages in the
trading and production of Bitcoin and acts as almost an antivirus to prevent corruption due to
consistent innovations in the methods to corrupt. The measure, dubbed proof of work, makes any
modifications of the block infinitely more difficult because an attacker would be required to
outperform the combined power of the rest of the network which continues adding new blocks to
the original version of this block chain, something that is physically impossible in the current

Archetypes In Mordred
Stories of Camelot s mighty warriors and the resulting Arthurian legends continue to be timeless as
they are still told, centuries later. Many other tales have been lost in the passing of time, but these
remain because they contain archetypes that are applicable to any and all people throughout the
ages. They show their audience what it is like to struggle with temptation, love, and morals; not at
all unlike the troubles people encounter today. But as time goes on, the perspective that these
stories are seen from drastically changes. Protagonists become villains, motives are redefined, and
love waxes cold. The most extreme of these changes is seen with the king s nephew Mordred as he
goes from murderer, seen by Wace s poem Arthurian Chronicles:

Effects Of The Civil Rights Movement
The Civil Rights Movement caused conflict after African Americans in Southern states were
mistreated and had very different rights as the white. Some of the inequalities that African
Americans had to face include the opportunities for housing, education and employment, the right
to vote, and discrimination in several public places. This also gave the Supreme Court a new
aspect since discrimination and segregation were legal. With a great leader such as Dr. Martin
Luther King Jr. protesting for equal rights, the African Americas were successful at getting the
same rights as everyone else and the right to vote. The Civil Rights Movement was a success and

In 1941 A. Philip Randolph was going to lead an all black march on Washington unless President
Franklin D. Roosevelt did something in respect to ending racial discrimination. Roosevelt did not
want the march to be successful and become a bigger problem so he agreed to a Fair Employment
Practices Committee. Movements kept growing and were becoming more popular as African
Americans from the South tried to increase black voting strength that even soldiers were returning
home to fight this racism. Activists were trying to end school segregation as well. The protestors
were risking everything since homes were burned and churches as well. At this point everyone s
goal was to at least have equality between black and white schools instead of racial integration. In
1950 NAACP decided to take everything to the court and fight for what they believed in. Brown V.

became well known in Montgomery. This Montgomery movement was then leaded by Martin

A Research Study On The Foster Care
Abstract
This research study will examine whether or not the foster care age out transition process,
including the availability of specific education programs (i.e. banking, home building and
economics, college prep) as well as the availability of resources provided to foster children prior to
aging out of the foster care system, has a direct impact on a perceived successful or non
successful transition to independent living. This research will gather information from three
specific groups of people; current licensed foster parents, foster care social workers and former
foster children that have aged out of the foster care system within the last two years. This study
will be utilizing the nonprobability method of purposive sampling as all research participants will
be selected on the basis of their participation with the foster care system in three different specific
roles. This research will study the perceptions of whether or not there are adequate programs
designed and utilized for the purpose of successful transition. This information will be gathered by
three separate questionnaires specifically designed to address each role of the foster care study.
The information will be utilized for the intent of evaluating the age out process of foster care for
minors transitioning into adults.
I believe the best service to the child is the service closest to the child, and children who are

Media Portrayal Of The Media
Media deteriorating life of developing teens
Rapid changes in a young developing body can be crucial, leaving long term health issues that
are difficult to reverse and possibly lead to death. Today s media has an immense influence on
how teens view themselves in regards to what is considered beautiful. Exposure to the media has
pressured teens to feel like they need to change their body image to be model perfect and fit what
the media considers beautiful . Media portrayal of beauty and youth can cause insecure teens to
alter their diet and lifestyles causing serious mental and physical health issues. Often these changes
can be drastic causing the body to freak out and not work the same way it used to. The effects of
rapid changes would be depression, weight gain, weight loss, weak immune systems and collapsing
organs.
Many times depression in teens is a result of the constant need of feeling like they have to alter
their weight, curves, fitness, and overall self image. The media tends to portray the skinny girls
as popular, while unpopular girls are shown with a muffin top. A young teen who is not a size
two or below will examine online resources for the diet that will produce the quickest results.
These types of quick, drastic changes can be very unhealthy and cause adverse affects to the
body. A tidal wave can portray the feeling of descending from the progress made. This can cause
doubt of ever being a smaller weight (raiding out your kitchen), or it can lead to

How Does Wilfred Owen Describe The Horror Of War
UNNECESSARY AND RIDICULOUS The poem Dulce et Decorum est wrote by Wilfred Owen
is a surprising poem which explains the experiences of soldiers in the trenches during World War
I. He uses his poetry as a vehicle to express his ideas on the horror of war. On this essay I will go
through of the techniques used by him to illustrate the notion of it being sweet and fitting to die
for your country is not true. The reader is introduced to the horror of war in the first lines of the
poem as Owen portrays the bad physical condition of the men, bent double, like old beggars under
sacks . This simile shows how dirty and unhealthy the soldiers appear. The comparison to old
beggars is interesting because it is how the men have been aged early by... Show more content on

NFL rules stipulate that footballs must be inflated between 12.5 and 13.5 pounds per square inch
and weigh between 14 and 15 ounces.
Former NFL official Jim Daopoulos, in an interview with ESPN on Monday morning, explained
the process in which footballs are managed. Two hours and 15 minutes before each game, officials
inspect 12 footballs from each team and put a mark on them to indicate they meet the proper
requirements and are good for usage. Then those footballs are given to the ball attendant.
There also is a second set of six footballs, used specifically for the kicking game, that are marked
appropriately and remain in the possession of officials at all times.
Officials check balls as they go into the game, and if the ball doesn t feel perfect, they can throw it
out, Daopoulos said. There is always the possibility that balls can lose air due to the conditions.
A team can be fined if it is found to be knowingly altering the weight of the football.
The NFL s game operations manual states: Once the balls have left the locker room, no one,
including players, equipment managers, ball boys, and coaches, is allowed to alter the footballs
in any way. If any individual alters the footballs, or if a non approved ball is used in the game, the
person responsible and, if appropriate, the head coach or other club personnel will be subject to
discipline, including but not limited to, a fine of $25,000.

I believe that the Project Manager is at fault in this situation. The structures manager strongly
advised the project manager not to stop the activities in this department before testing the plant s

manager and even mentioned that the test was scheduled for the next month. I think it would have

I probably would try to approach the customer with my problems in hopes of relief. Also, it
would only be fair to the customer to be informed, since it s not a fixed price contract and
additional work would require additional fees to be paid.
4.If you were the customer of this cost plus program, what would your response be for additional
funds for the bathtub period, assuming cost overrun?
Since this is not a fixed price contract, it s quite common that cost overruns occur due to the
scope of services not being well defined. I would consider my options and try to make a decision
considering the most effective and efficient way to complete the project. If additional funds and
cost overruns are inevitable, I would try to determine if it would be worth it to crash the project

for example would actually give the seller an incentive to overspend because the higher the cost the
higher the profit. So I would be more than glad to be involved considering the circumstances.

The Best Principles Of Persuasion
To achieve a successful business interaction, it is important to persuade the best possible manner
ever. Several researchers have studied how to persuade effectively, but the best principles of
persuasions were described by Robert Cialdini and the principles include reciprocity, scarcity,
authority, commitment and consistency, consensus and liking.
Reciprocity is the expectation of getting a return for a favor offered. This simply implies that for
everything that is given out, there is a certain expectation from the receiving end. Basically, one
can give out money and expect goods or services in return. In a business context, I might have the
mind set of making a potential customer a repeat buyer and to make that happen, I offer to help
the buyer by giving a discount. If the buyer shows appreciation and still comes back to get more of
the products, that means the favor has been reciprocated.
Scarcity is another principle of persuasion. Scarcity can be described as the rare availability of an
item. As a seller, one of the ways to persuade and make a potential buyer purchase your product is
to remind them of how rare the product is, especially if it is ... Show more content on

Hepatitis C Is An Inflammation Of The Liver Caused By A
Hepatitis C is an inflammation of the liver caused by a virus. It was discovered about twenty
eight years ago. The liver is very essential to life because it has many important functions in our
bodies. Hepatitis C is a blood borne virus. Hepatitis C is not a virus that you can visibly see unless
you run a blood test and discover it in the blood. Hepatitis Cis contagious but it is treatable and is
considered cured if the virus is no longer detectable in your blood. Considering that some of the
Hepatitis C symptoms are similar to other viral symptoms, the doctor has to diagnose the patient to
officially confirm the virus. Hepatitis C is easily spread and is most common in teenagers and

Nwakamma stated, Routes of infection include organ transplantation, IV drug use, sexual
contact, exposure to blood, perinatal transmission or occupational exposure (Nwakamma).
Organ transplantation was one of the first ways scientists were able to determine the cause of
Hepatitis C. Another more common way Hepatitis C is still being spread is by IV drug use. If a
IV needle is contaminated with infected blood, that can cause the person using it to get hepatitis
C. When people are injecting drugs into their bodies using someone else s needle, they are
putting themselves at high risk to contract any infectious virus. Infectious viruses are not visible
on objects but they are visible once they enter in your bloodstream. The formation of the virus is
identified as a positive stranded RNA. Nwakamma makes a similar point about the description of
the virus by stating, The Hepatitis C virus is a small, enveloped, single stranded RNA virus of the
family Flaviviridae, and has a genome of approximately ten thousand nucleotides coding for
structural proteins (Nwakamma). Once the Hepatitis C virus binds to a cell surface receptor that
leads to viral entry into the host cell. Due to Flaviviridae being an RNA virus, it cannot replicate in
the nucleus. Patients whose condition with Hepatitis C becomes chronic often have a hard time
producing insulin. In accordance with the previous

He had a more genuine reason to not participate in the war but he chose to fight for his family
and his city instead. Hector has a wife and a son, and could have chosen to stay with them
instead of fighting the battle that his brother started after abducting Helen. However, Hector
knew he had an obligation to fight for his city, hence did not run away from his responsibilities.
His wife Andromache begged him to stay when he visited her and their son because she was
afraid that he would die at the battlefield Your courage Is going to kill you, and you have no
feeling left for your little boy or for me (Homer 430). Hector advised Andromache that he could
not run away from his fate. If he was destined to die in the battlefield, then there was nothing he
could do to change that, he also told her that he was doing this for her and Astyanax, their son,
because they might end up as slaves if he is not successful. Hector could have told his father and
Paris that he was not going to get involved in the war since he did not personally cause it, just
like Achilles told Agamemnon I don t have any quarrel with the Trojans, they didn t do anything
to me to make me come over and fight (Homer 160). However, he is a man of reason and feels a
sense of duty that overpowers any fears he has and prevents him from making any selfish
decisions. Being selfish however, is one of the bad traits that Achilles has. His selfishness is

  • 3. Bierila BartoГіk Research Paper BГ©la BartГіk, born in NagyszentmiklГіs, Hungary, is regarded as one of the most successful and prominent Hungarian composers. He was also an ethnomusicologist and pianist. Since being an ethnomusicologist, he was a relentless collector and analyst of folk music...[and his works were] highly influenced by his ethnomusicological studies, particularly those of Hungarian (Gillies, Malcolm, Bela, Bartok). BartГіk traveled across Hungary and Eastern Europe, learning and recording with early phonographical devices the unique musiche heard. In 1908, BartГіk was traveling the countryside of Hungary. He came across Magyar folk music, or peasant folk music, which in that time was in categorized as Gypsy music. He found that old peasant folk music used pentatonic scales and was the true folk music of Hungary (BГ©la BartГіk s Musical Style). During this time period, composers were utilising folk music as a cultural construct to represent their nationalistic pride. In 1931, BartГіk took the Magyar folk music he found and incorporated into his compositions. He did this by devising more and more elaborate accompaniments for the melodies, shifting the emphasis from the original tune [for example, peasant folk music from Hungary] to the total effect of its presentation [his own work] (BГ©la... BartГіk utilised this tactic and wrote many compositions with folk song influences from various nations. BartГіk enjoyed discovering and collecting old music, and tweaking it to make it new. He felt liberated when using the old peasant modes and pentatonic scales; instead of the restraining traditional major and minor tonality (BГ©la BartГіk s Musical Style). • 4. Rhetorical Analysis Of The Film Thank You For Smoking Thank you for Smoking Introduction The film Thank you for Smoking is a dark comedy where the primary protagonist, Nick Naylor is a lobbyist. He talks for the cigarette industry and will not extra the American Authorities or even the press. At the in advance, the film prominently tackles all these topics but deep down it also portrays the partnership between a dad and a son. Rhetorical and arguments analysis In a single conversation between a father and a son, Naylor coaches his son Joey by telling him the beauty of argument: if you argue correctly, you re never wrong . This depicts a framework of Nick s personality and probably explains the reason why as to the reasons he will not lose quarrels. It is because he reframes the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I think that we are in need of freedom . This shows the fallacy of red herring. In this type of rhetorical strategy, the emphasis is shifted from the primary concern for an unrelated or tangential concern to earn a disagreement. In another debate Naylor uses the red herring fallacy. That is explicated when he s asked to testify before the senatorial committee. He says Gentlemen, it s called education ... It s the job of each mother or father to alert their children of all risks in the world, including smokes, so that 1 day when they grow older they can decide for themselves. Here again, Nick waves from the central subject of cigarettes compared to that of parental responsibility, freedom and education. He s well aware that People in america love their freedom and therefore takes on with these words to regulate their feelings. Naylor also uses the faulty analogy fallacy in the senatorial committee conference. He compares the Conglomerated Cigarette s cigarette financing with the financing for the senate s marketing campaign contributions. The advertisement hominem fallacy is utilized by Naylor when he suggests placing indicators on certain products like Vermont cheddarcheese, aeroplanes and cars. The red herring fallacy is again used when Naylor highlights the unwanted effects of Vermont cheddar cheese on increasing cholesterol levels. Actually, Senator Lothridge must interrupt to recreate Naylor and Senator Finisterre back ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. What Does Fate In A Prayer For Owen Meany Fate is a common theme in many cultures, with people either attempting to rebel against it or embracing it. However, throughout these stories, people very rarely break away from their destiny. A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving is a story where fate is heavily involved, with the main character Owen Meany receiving visions of the futureand accepting his destiny. Owen Meany demonstrates that fate is inescapable, and should be embraced. Unlike most stories involving fate, A Prayer for Owen Meanydoes not focus on God or divine power, and is instead closer to magical realism. Throughout the novel, the author withholds information, constantly changes the time as he is narrating, and has many people do not believe in the miracles of Owen Meany. A Prayer for Owen Meany can fit in many categories, but with these aspects of magical realism, it is the best genre to put it in. The story is told as Johnny narrates it, looking back on his childhood, and he includes any stories he believes are important to understanding the development of himself and Owen. While telling these stories, he constantly changes the part of his childhood he is talking about. Besides the sudden jumps in years, Johnny also skips over days or even weeks at once, not bothering to explain what happened during that time. At one point, he is talking about how he could see Owen was at least as high as the palm trees (Irving 626). In the very next sentence, he skips presumably weeks ahead, to talk about how Major Rawls saw to it that Owen Meany got a medal (Irving 626). Time being nonlinear is an aspect of magical realism, and with all the jumps and skips, the timeline is very strange and a little difficult to piece together. The jumping of time also plays into the theme of fate a little, as fate is all about the future. Telling the future before previous events are explained makes the reader feel like Owen, knowing some of the future but not the events that lead up to it. Not knowing information is also an aspect of magical realism, and several major subplots involve the past the author keeps hidden. For two thirds of the book, and ten years of his life, Johnny does not know who his father is, or what unspeakable outrage the Catholic church ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. The Negative Impact of Social Networking Sites on People Social Networking Sites People have been impacted by social networking sites. Social networking sites have a negative influence on our generation because of bullying, predation, and an effect on our education. With kids interacting freely they can come across predation. Furthermore, some predators have an objective of enticing young people into sending inappropriate webcam photos of themselves or to engage in sexually explicit conversations (Sexton and English 2). Kids are the easiest to manipulate and to take control of. Also, critics of social networking sites claim that it contributes to predatory or stalking behavior and can used to invade privacy (Belanger and Finley 1). Parents should be going through their children s profile to make sure who they are talking to. Clearly, with kids sending private information about themselves they can be blackmailed by the receiver into mental and physical abuse. Our generation is mostly being affected by cyberbullying. Additionally, anonymity online can cause people to engage in cyberbullying or other anti social behavior because of limited fear of being caught or identified (Sexton and English 2). With the idea of not getting caught, people think it s funny to cyberbully. Hester defies the Puritan belief system through her rebellion. Hester Prynne, while in Boston waiting for her husband to come from Amsterdam, commits the crime of adultery and gives birth to a child, causing her to be punished. Hawthorne describes her crime in dialogue between Hester s husband, who has just arrived in Boston and is unaware of Hester s circumstances, and a towns member who infers as to what she has done and how much of an uproar it has caused, during her public punishment, in the government forces her to stand on a scaffold for three hours and condemned to wear an A on her chest... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This page describing her crime shows how Hester defies the Puritan belief system through rebellion because the crime of adultery is a serious sin in their religion, showing that she purposely disobeys the laws of their religion by having an affair. Hester Prynne also defies the Puritan belief system through the scene where she immerges from the jail cell and is seen in public with her wedlock child for the first time. Hawthorne describes the manner in which she immerges from the jail and how the town reacts, in the quote Those who had before known her, and had expected to behold her dimmed and obscured by a disastrous cloud, were astonished, and even startled, to perceive how her beauty shone out, and made a halo of the misfortune and ignominy in which she had enveloped (46). This quote shows Hester s rebellion against the Puritan beliefs because, due to how serious her crime is seen in the Puritan community, the town members had expected her to show sorrow, shame, and weakness as she walked from the jail cell. But, instead she walks out with her head held high, ignoring their judgment, showing no shame and in the crime she committed, and disregarding the mannerisms the Puritan s expected of her. • 11. Importance Of The 1st Amendment In total, America has 27 Amendments all together but which one is the most important you may ask, well that s was this is about. I believe that the 1st Amendment is the most important out of them all . The 1st Amendment is freedom of Religion, Speech, Press, Assembly, and Petition. Freedom of religion and speech are one of the best things a country can have and also something everyone believes they should have. Everyone should be able to say or do anything they want without fear. Also freedom of press is the right to publish newspapers, magazines, and other printed matter without governmental restriction and subject only to the laws of libel, obscenity, sedition, etc. ( www.dictionary.com) . Freedom of Assembly is The right to hold public meetings and form associations without interference by the government. Freedom of peaceful assembly is guaranteed by the First Amendment to the Constitution. Last but not least is Freedom of Petition According to ( The Free Dictionary , 2017) a formal written request to a court for an order of the court. It is distinguished from a complaint in a lawsuit which asks for damages and/or performance by the opposing party. Petitions include demands for writs, orders to show cause, modifications of prior orders, continuances, dismissal of a case, reduction of bail in criminal cases, a decree of distribution of an estate, appointment of a guardian, and a host of other matters arising in legal actions. • 14. Baby Driver Reflection I was hesitant to watch Baby Driver, despite liking the trailers and talent involved, because I have yet to see a full Edgar Wright film. I ve seen parts of Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. I liked what I saw, but I wasn t sure I wanted to have my introduction to Wright be his fifth film. Well, my willpower broke and I m happier for it. Baby Driver focuses on the eponymous Baby (Ansel Elgort), a getaway driver working for a crime boss (the now disgraced Kevin Spacey). Things get more complicated when Baby meets Debora (Lilly James), a waitress who steals his heart, and gets involved in a job with some volatile coconspirators. Of the several joys of this film, not the least of them is acting. That starts with Elgort, who is impressive as Baby. He makes him someone we instantly like, with his cool demeanor and infectious enthusiasm for music. We root for him right away, and that holds when we learn more about him and Elgort convincingly portrays those depths. As much as I liked Elgort, I probably liked James work even more. She does a lot with little to work with as Debora. Her character doesn t have much depth on the page, but James has a magnetic screen presence. She nails each scene and makes you believe her character is a real person with many dimensions, even though the movie doesn t really explore them. However, when we read the poem which was written in the Old English period, many of us can realize that Old English is very different from the Modern English. Since the leaders of Normans used Old Norman, language which was related to politics, religious began to change. Especially, Norman from France had huge influence in politics and Anglo Saxons had to step down from their status. Conquerors were proud of themselves as a French people, and they designated Norman French as a national language of England. Since then, the upper class and educated people used Anglo Norman that was developed from Norman French and Old English was used only by the lower class, and as a result the status that old English had was collapsed. • 16. Japanese Mythology Research Paper What is Japanese mythology? Well, they are a body of stories that were compiled from oral traditions concerning the legends, gods, ceremonies, customs, practices and historical accounts of the Japanese people. Most of the Japanese myths are collectively chronicled in the Kojiki, the oldest historical record written in 712 AD and the Nihon Shoki, which was compiled in 720 AD. Both of these works tell the origin of the ruling class and apparently were aimed at strengthening its authority. In conclusion, they are not considered as pure myths and contain political views as well. They are based on two traditions: the Yamato cycle and the Izumo cycle. The Yamato cycle is centered on the sun goddess Amaterasuand Omikami. And the Izumo... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first part is the birth of Japan. A central foundation was now laid down for the drifting cosmos, and mud and sand accumulated upon it. A stake was driven in, and an inhabitable place was created. Finally, the divine couple, Izanagi and Izanami appeared. Ordered by their superiors, they stood on a floating bridge in heaven and stirred the ocean with a spear. When the spear was pulled up, the brine dripping from the tip formed Onogoro, an island that became solid spontaneously. When they reunited together, at the base of Ame no mihashira and the two fell deeply in love with one another, mated, and started to procreate and give birth to other gods. The second part of the creation story, Kamiumi, describes the birth of the original Japanese deities. The couple produced many offspring until the god of fire, Kagutsuchi, burned and killed Izanami as he was being born. Filled with rage and anger, Izanagi retaliated by attacking him and cutting him into eight pieces. I will begin with a presentation of the rationale for the qualitative case study approach. Next, I will present the participant selection criteria, the design of the study, and the methods of the data collection which will include the two interviews (first and follow up), classroom observation, videotaping the participant during instruction, and document data collection. I will also discuss the strategies I will be using to enhance the trustworthiness of the study. At the end of this chapter, I will explain the methods of the data analysis. Appendix A will be included at the end of the chapter. I will develop Table(s) of the data collection. In many circumstances, older individuals are in need of support 24 hours a day. It may be as simple as an individual just needing assistance to the restroom a few times a day, to as complicated as an individual requiring constant supervision and guidance when suffering from severe dementia. In either case, and in all the cases in between those two on the spectrum of care, the caregiver and those being cared for could benefit from adult day services. • 20. The Effects Of High Compliance Rate On Municipal City Of... Research Design and Methodology 4.1Introduction The purpose of this study is to find out what are the causes of the high compliance rate in property taxes in the municipal city of Portmore, Jamaica. Taxes are of essential importance to small developing countries as they do not have much needed resources. As further developments takes place in the municipal city property values will increase, hence the amount of property tax collected by the Portmore municipal council will also increase. This increase however, is not a guarantee that the tax collection will be sufficient in the maintenance of the community due to the rising cost of goods and services. Hence continuous voluntary compliance is essential and important as it most efficient for both the tax payer and the tax authorities. This section gives the hypothesis or research perspectives, the design of the research and the methods that were used to gather the data. 4.2 Hypotheses/ Research Perspectives My research perspective on the Municipal City of Portmore attaining the highest compliance rate property tax collections in Jamaica are: That the tax payers have recognised the need and importance of property tax to the community. The taxpayers are knowledgeable about property tax and the consequences if not paid. The local authorities are ensuring that the community is well maintained by effectively and efficiently using the tax collecting in providing services such as timely collection of garbage, maintaining and ... Many times, these adverse impacts affect the families, friends, and acquaintances of the addict whereby, for instance, the latter may lose their jobs or cause chaos. By making this everyone s problem, Trump is ably working on his major plan to combat these two problematic drugs by building a wall on the US Mexico border. Isolation within society is caused by where one comes from and if they are willing to conform to the norm in their new situation. Early in the short story, lahiri shows the Sen s apartment to be out of the norm by describing all the quirks it has, one of which is through their shoes. They are both didn t wear shoes in the house, instead they wore flip flops. Yet later on that page Lahiri outs Eliot s mother by saying, Yet his mother, Eliot thought, in her cuffed, beige shorts and her rope soled shoes, who looked odd. (Lahiri 112). In this Lahiri shows how being isolated as the odd one in a situation depends on the actions of those around you in society, and because she was the minority within this scenario, keeping her shoes on while the others didn t wear shoes, she is the odd one out. This exemplifies how it is dependent on your upbring and assimilationthat one is left out in the cold, because if she had been raised in a similar area, she would know the custom or if she been observant enough she could have seen and then adapted to be included. • 32. Role in Inducing and Maintaining the Pluripotency of Mice... Several members of the zinc finger family of proteins are key components in the transcriptional network maintaining pluripotency in embryonic stem cells. The mouse zinc finger protein 322a (Zfp322a) is expressed in embryonic stem cells and the ICM. Thus Ma et al. 2014 hypothesized that Zfp322a functions as a transcription factor in mice. Ma et al. (2014) discovered that Zfp322a is an irreplaceable transcription factor which enhances the reprogramming ability of OKSM (Oct4, Klf4, Sox2, and c Myc) and can replace Sox2 in OKSM in the generation of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). First, in order to determine whether or not Zfp322a is a transcription factor in mice, the authors analyzed its expression in mouse embryonic stem (mES) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A gene ontology search revealed that Zfp322a is involved in diverse cellular processes. A microarray approach determined that Zfp322a is able to directly repress and activate a number of the genes it binds. Importantly, this microarray approach confirmed the author s previous observation that Zfp322a represses the MAPK cascade. Previously, two nodes in the transcriptional network maintaining pluripotency were identified by Chen et al. 2008. Interestingly however, Zfp322a did not preferentially interact with either the c Myc or Sox2/Oct4 transcription factor clusters. Zfp322a s 10 C2H2 zinc finger domains bind the major groove of DNA (Lodish et al. 2013), and may give Zpf322a the ability to bind a diverse array of DNA sequences. In support of this hypothesis, no DNA consensus sequence for Zfp322a binding was identified. Zfp322a co localized equally with all 12 of the transcription factors tested. Coupled with Zfp322a s dynamic ability to concomitantly repress differentiation, these observations suggest a more profound role for Zpf322a. From the genome wide analysis of Zfp322a regulation the authors concluded that Zfp322a is an integral component in the pluripotency regulatory network. • 39. Financial Crisis Across The World Since Currency Essay There has been a financial crisis across the world since currency came about. It started with the barter system which allowed people to trade goods and services, but this sometimes proved to be more difficult than beneficial. Then around 600 B.C., coins and currency came about. Since then currency went from being precious metals to paper money. With the development of currency, came international trade. Banks and the ruling classes started buying currencies from other nations and created the first currency market. The stability of a particular monarchy or government affected the value of the country s currency and the ability for that country to trade on an increasingly international market. The competition between countries often led to currency wars, where competing countries would try to affect the value of the competitor s currency by driving it up and making the enemy s goods too expensive, by driving it down and reducing the enemy s buying power (and ability to pay for a war), or by eliminating the currency completely (Beattie, 2007). Money gets its value by being a medium of exchange, a unit of measurement and a storehouse for wealth. Money allows people to trade goods and services indirectly and understand the price of goods. We can see the evidence of financial crisisthroughout time with the credit crisis of 2007 2008 and the Russian Crisis of 1998 and its global impact. Former NFL official Jim Daopoulos, in an interview with ESPN on Monday morning, explained the process in which footballs are managed. Two hours and 15 minutes before each game, officials inspect 12 footballs from each team and put a mark on them to indicate they meet the proper requirements and are good for usage. Then those footballs are given to the ball attendant. There also is a second set of six footballs, used specifically for the kicking game, that are marked appropriately and remain in the possession of officials at all times. Officials check balls as they go into the game, and if the ball doesn t feel perfect, they can throw it out, Daopoulos said. There is always the possibility that balls can lose air due to the conditions. A team can be fined if it is found to be knowingly altering the weight of the football. The NFL s game operations manual states: Once the balls have left the locker room, no one, including players, equipment managers, ball boys, and coaches, is allowed to alter the footballs in any way. Several researchers have studied how to persuade effectively, but the best principles of persuasions were described by Robert Cialdini and the principles include reciprocity, scarcity, authority, commitment and consistency, consensus and liking. Reciprocity is the expectation of getting a return for a favor offered. This simply implies that for everything that is given out, there is a certain expectation from the receiving end. Basically, one can give out money and expect goods or services in return. In a business context, I might have the mind set of making a potential customer a repeat buyer and to make that happen, I offer to help the buyer by giving a discount. If the buyer shows appreciation and still comes back to get more of the products, that means the favor has been reciprocated. Scarcity is another principle of persuasion.
