Analysis Of Lemony Snicket s Series Of Unfortunate Events
Reader Response
I first read Lemony Snicket s Series of Unfortunate Events when I was 10 years old. Having little
patience, I planned to just skim through but found myself immediately immersed in the story and
the writing style. The author uses clever techniques to appeal to both children and older readers,
which allowed me to remain engaged with the text. Snicket warns that, if you are interested in
books with happy endings, you would be better off reading some other book. I found myself
attracted to the gothic elements and darker nature of the text. I found it to be uniquely different to
the traditional fairy tales with a clichГ© happily ever after . A Series of Unfortunate Eventshas no
typical happily ever after, but the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a child, I often felt frustrated that adults would not always take me seriously. I felt empowered
by the idea that perhaps I too was capable of solving my own problems as a self reliant and
independent being.
Snicket is a clever and humorous narrator. He assists the reader with more advanced words,
explaining them in their given context. As a young reader, this was very educational and helpful
and allowed me to further understand and enjoy the series. As an older reader, I came to realise
that he did this in a comedic way. For example, Snicket writes, It is now necessary for me to use
the rather hackneyed phrase meanwhile, back at the ranch. The word hackneyed here means used
by so, so many writers that by the time Lemony Snicket uses it, it is a tiresome clichГ©. Snicket
also introduces children to important concepts and ideas. He notes, your initial opinion of things
may change over time, and the children knew, as I m sure you know, that the worst surroundings
can be tolerated if the people in them are interesting and kind. He also addressed more serious
issues, acting as a moral guide, but ensured these issues were not too overwhelming by
maintaining a sense of humour. He writes, stealing is not excusable if, for instance, you are in a
museum and you decide that a certain painting would look better in your house... But if you were
very very hungry, and you had no way of obtaining money, it might be excusable to grab the
painting, take it

Stereosonic Target Audience
1.Billboard, vehicle, street press and outdoor campaigns are used by Stereosonic to capture a
larger audience. Patron postcode data is used to place billboards and posters at key spots
(Marketing Magazine 2011). The majority of Australians spend more time out and about in summer
(Adshel Summer Campaign 2012). This increase the opportunity for Stereosonic s billboards and
outdoor advertisement to be seen. It is broadcasted by location, universities, bus/tram shelters, bus
/tram exteriors, shopping centres, malls, roadsides, free standing panels and mobile billboards
(Huynh 2014). Future Music Festival uses this strategy too but also see guerrilla marketingas an
effective method (refer to Appendix A). Outdoor advertisement may be used to drive the target
audience online and in particular to the festival s website. Thus, billboards and outdoor
advertisement is an expensive advertisement method and may not be as appealing for small
festivals like Listen Out nor bring much in return. This due to their media savvy target indie
millennium audience, which they may use other more appealing strategies to reach.
2.The three investigated festivals have also been identified on social media and YouTube to

awareness. Research found that radio drives brand browsing by over 52 percent and also has a

Privatization Of A Capitalist Society
A criminal is easier to deal with when they re found dead. A living criminal must be tried in court
of their peers, provided legal representation, and then must have whatever prison time they
receive if any paid for by the Government. Meanwhile a dead criminal just needs to be
acknowledged then buried. When it comes to dealing with live criminals, a government finds
itself in a position where it must provide for the safety and wellbeing of members of society that
are often ignored, which can be costly and lead to endless legal red tape. Seeking to relieve some
of this burden, The United States quickly leapt at the opportunity to take some of that burden and
deliver it to the private sector, and thus, the private, for profit prisonwas born (Mason). since we
already live and work under the control of the free market, privatization prisons makes sense in a
capitalist society. While this a straightforward and appealing approach, the nature of a prison
system and the duty it must fulfill in society makes such capitalist ideals difficult to implement
effectively as well as dangerous in practice. While not necessarily an abject failure, prison
privatization has been extremely detrimental to American society. The issues caused by private
prisons are multifaceted and complex, but they can be simplified into three main areas: an increase
in recidivism, a decrease in prisoner quality of life, and private influence over the American legal
system. The first, and most apparent

Comparison Between Friedrich Nietzsche And Dr. Martin...
Whether or not you agree with their views, both Friedrich Nietzsche and Dr. Martin Luther King,
Jr. were great, highly influential men. Their views, though radically different, impacted the world
in the greatest of ways, altering history for many nations. While Nietzsche, a German
philosopher from the 1800s, spoke from a materialistic point of view, believing that there is no
god and that all that exists is matter, King, a civil rights activist of the 1900s, spoke from the
belief in transcendence, that there is indeed a god, and that he exists in a divine realm outside of
this universe. But not only do these men differ in their backgrounds and religious beliefs, they
differ radically in how they believe society should function. In Nietzsche s writings, he promoted a
system that emphasizes will to power. He believed that an aristocracywas the basis for a great
society. King, on the other hand, promoted a system of equality and justice. He thought all men
were created equal, and that society should reflect that belief. The writings of these men have
come to be studied by people everywhere. They are so influential, in fact, that one of them played
an incredible role in getting our society to the point that it is today.
As stated previously, Nietzsche s work was both great and highly influential. The Nazis even used
his writings as a basis for their beliefs. Nietzsche believed that the greatest societies were always
built upon the aristocratic system. Since he believed there

Lady with a Dog Essay
We have always heard of the stories where people meet their future wife or husband in the most
unpredictable places. These success stories presumes us to believe that love at first sight actually
exists and that they re will be somebody waiting for us at the traffic light down the street. Things
like this can happen I don t doubt it, but for all the people like Gurov, a known womanizer who is
married to a womanhe does not love or Anna, a frail, innocent woman who is married to a man she

feels that she is the only woman to make him happy in the world. His own past has doomed him;
He knows he can never be with Anna but trys to make a effort to see her again in S . He arrives
at her home to see that she is enclosed by a long fence, slammed in with nails, a prison he
imagines it to be. Desperately seeking to find her he attends a theater at night. He sees her there
with her tall husband, wearing a uniform. While her husband is gone, Gurov approaches her to
speak with him, as she leaves the auditorium to avoid him. Gurov catches up to her and they speak
for a short while and Anna promises to him that she will come to Moscow to visit him.
Thoroughly, this ordeal Gurov has been through finally has shown him that he has matured and has
become a better man. As he brings his young daughter to school and when he drops her off there
he begins to reflect upon the two lives he is living, one that is full of the truths and another that is
full of lies. This ordeal has made him a better person unquestionably, his affair with Anna has made
him ashamed of the bad things he has done in the past. They both feel that the love both of them
have had with each other has changed them forever.

First-Round Running Back Case Study
Tier 1: Potential First Round Running Backs | Todd Gurley, David Johnson, Lamar Miller,
Ezekiel Elliot, Adrian Peterson What Gurley can do for you is simple: break games open. He s
the type of running back that can have six points going into the fourth quarter, until he rushes for
a 60 yard touchdown and changes your fortunes in one play. You don t need to say much about
him. The Rams offensive line and wide receivers aren t special, and their quarterbacks are far
from even pedestrian (including No. 1 pick Jared Goff), but the Rams have Gurley. David Johnson

pick up where he left off in 2014 as a RB1. C.J. Anderson should get a bigger workload. We
expected him to get a big workload last year; but this year, he may have finally put the threats of
Ronnie Hillman and now Devontae Booker to bed. The Broncos matched Miami s offer sheet
for Anderson and likely wouldn t have done that without being confident in him as their bell cow
back post Peyton Manning. Mark Sanchez at quarterback, or Trevor Siemian for that matter,
wont be much of a downgrade as Manning was a game manager by the end of last season.
Anderson should get a ton of touches in a Gary Kubiak offense that ran Arian Foster like a

Persuasive Essay On How To Build A Fire
Have you ever went camping with friends or family and admired the welcoming campfires that
were built? Roasting marshmallows, sharing stories, or just sitting and absorbing the nature
around you are just a few of the many enjoyable activities that can be done with a bonfire!
However, what may look like a simple set up might be more complex than one would assume. In
fact, there are several steps a person should follow when constructing a campfire. Practicing these
instructions can not only lead to a more successful, thriving bonfire, but can also guide you to
becoming more safe and aware. When my dad taught me how to build a fire, it was an overall
bonding experience. He was patient with me through the many failed attempts and constantly
reminded me that safety was the most important factor. The skills that I learned from him will
continue to come in handy any time my friends or family want to gather around a campfire. The
first step that is pretty essential in building a campfire, that several people may overlook, is
finding a suitable, safe place to have one. If there is a fire ring that is already present, then even
better. Try to look for an open space away from buildings or other things that are easily
flammable. Ask yourself a few questions before you start: Are campfires allowed in this area? Are
the weather conditions up to par? (It shouldn t be too windy or rainy.) Is the site properly
prepared? Lastly, do you have fire safety equipment? Such as a fire extinguisher

their origin in the British Isles. Bulldogs work as bull baiters, thus, their name. Besides, their
physique is grand and brawny just like bulls. They can even fight bulls when needed. Bulldogs
used to be known for their fierce nature back many years. English bulldogs are one among the most
common types of bulldogs. As their name clearly suggests, these England bred bulldogs can be seen
with large, broad heads. In comparison to them, American bulldogs are larger in size with longer

My 2nd point is to explain how modern drumming began and what a modern drum set is ( Ringo
starr, ).
1. Modern drumming really began a band from Liverpool, London. You can probably guess this
band (The Beetles.) Ringo Starr, drummer, was one of the first drummers to be televised playing a
rock song with a modern drum set.
2. What is a modern drum set? A modern drum set consists of a bass (or kick) drum, 2 3 toms, 1
snare drum, a hi hat and 1 2 cymbals.
C. My 3rd point is to explain how the type of wood affects the sound of the drums ( Drum shells
explained, ). 1. How do you decide on the type of wood for your kit?
a. Mahogany gives you the lowest tone out of the 3 woods. Keep in mind that this has to be high
quality mahogany, like African mahogany. Cheaper mahogany is used to make cheaper drum sets,
and highly affects the tone of the kit.
b. Maple gives you good middle tones. By far, maple is the most popular of the 3 woods for making
drum kits. They provide great tonal range, look beautiful, and there is a large supply.
c. Birch gives you the loudest of the 3 woods. Some drummers use birch kits for playing live,
since the shells are much louder than Mahogany and Maple. Birch is also a beautiful wood, and is
usually stained.
D. My 4th and final point is this: Drums and drum beats are crucial to today s modern music.
1. Drumming is found in almost every genre of music.

Basic Parameters That Affect The Performance
7.Basic Parameters That Affect The Performance in RTOS
7.1Multi tasking and preemptable:
In RTOS the system have to be multitasking and preemptable because those two features make the
RTOS Scheduler end any lower priority task to execute the higher ones or to release some
resources for other tasks that urgently need those resources. Also the system have to handle
different level of priorities of interrupts.(Yerraballi,R. 2000)
7.2Dynamic deadline identification:
In some scheduling algorithms such as (EDF)the deadline is converted to priority levels. Then we
can control priorities by controlling the deadlines. Although such an approach is error prone,
nonetheless it is employed for lack of a better solution (Buttazzo, 2005).
7.3Predictable synchronization:
The threads of the system need to communication and to be synchronized in a timely efficient and
predictable way.
7.4Sufficient Priority Levels:
In the scheduling algorithms based on priorities. There must be enough levels of priorities. Priority
inversion occur when a low level priority hold the resource that the the high level priority is
waiting for or blocked due to this resource, and the lower priority is delayed because low priority
task. Two workarounds in dealing with priority inversion, namely priority inheritance and priority
ceiling protocols (PCP), need sufficient priority levels.
7.5Predefined latencies:
The timing of the systems must be predictable and this is done by defining task switching

Aim:to determine the kinetic parameters of the enzyme Alkaline phosphataseGeneral Background
Alkaline Phosphatase is a group of enzymes found in certain tissues (including the bile duct, bones
and the liver). Based on its specific location each enzyme will present with a different structure. The
highest concentration of the enzyme is found in the liver, and so is used as a liver function test ...

Focused background
Alkaline phosphatase will behave like a protein, due to the fact that it is a glycoprotein. Utilizing
the above mentioned information it is possible to test for the optimum pH. Alkaline phosphatase
will function optimally at a pH of around 10 (an alkaline pH). If one was to assess the range of
the pH pertaining to this enzyme, it can be seen that there will be a point where the enzyme has
the greatest activity, whereby it produces the highest concentration of the so called product . Due
to the previous knowledge of proteins, it can be deduced that at acidic pH the protein will have
very low activity or will denature. It should also be noted that once the optimal pH has been
reached and surpassed, the enzymes rate of activity will begin to reduce. As previously stated,
temperature is another variable that can affect the enzyme reaction rate. At low temperatures there
will be little to no activity but as the temperature is increased so the rate of activity will increase.
However, just like pH, once the optimal temperature is reached and surpassed, the enzyme will
begin to break apart. The enzyme will be experimentally tested using temperatures around room
temperature (27в„ѓ). Due to the fact that there is a human application the enzyme will continue to
be tested until temperatures of human death (45в„ѓ). After the testing is completed it can be
deduced what temperatures create an optimum environment for the normal functioning of the
enzyme. One

Piety And Its Role As Powerful Positions During The Period...
Piety and its Role in Powerful Positions
During the period of early Arab conquests, massive transformations were taking place as a new
great confessional empire was emerging. During this time many conflicts and questions arose. Who
is the rightful Caliph once the prophet Muhammad dies? What makes a good Caliph? What is to be
done with the non Muslims? What does it mean to be a Muslim? One of the major themes that
arose from these questions was the importance of being pious when holding some form of
power, whether political or military. Primary sources demonstrate how this theme has come to
fruition, such as in a letter to the Caliph Umar II, and Tabari s The History of Prophet s and
Kings. The letter to Caliph Umar II is important in developing the role of religious devotion in
connection to holding power because it starts to question what exactly the role of the Caliph is.
It seems by this letter that the role of the Caliph is not just to be a political head for the
conquered land of the Caliphate, but they also need to be a religious leader as well. An
important part of being that religious head is being pious, to demonstrate to others how to fully
become devout and submit to God. The writer, Hasan al Basri, in this letter is asking the Caliph
to do away with luxury and go back to the simpler times because it is dangerous to dally in
decadence. It is a critique of the lavish life style of the recent Caliphs, with desert palaces and
extravagant mosques, and how that

Summary Of Helen In Sappho s Odyssey And Helen
Faith Butler
CLA
October 3, 2017
Title
Homer is a legendary writer who is foreshadowed by many other writers in his work. While most
agree with and follow in Homers footsteps, there are also those who deliberately see and do things
in a dissimilar way. This can be presented by the use of the character, Helen, in the Odysseyand in
Sappho s Fragment 16. Homer and Sappho use Helen in their stories in conflicting ways to
differentiate epic and lyric poetry while also expressing different ideas and perspectives.
In both the Odyssey and Sappho s Fragment 16, Homer and Sappho speak of and acknowledge
Helens beauty. Though, they do so in different ways. In the Odyssey, Homer compares Helen to
that of a goddess using Artemis as an example. Although homer describes her beauty in a positive
light, he also claims that Helens attractiveness caused the Trojan war and the death and suffering of
many. when all you Achaeans fought at Troy, launching your headlong battles just for my sake,
shameless whore that I was (160). Therefore in the Odyssey, Helen is depicted as an intricate
character. In epic poems, this is a trend that can be seen throughout the reading as the writing style
goes into greater detail. One can also conclude that Homer tends to focus on the negative and
emphasize war.
In fragments 16, Sappho claims that mortals cannot compare to the beauty of Helen. Sappho
remains simple and to the point with her description of Helen. Unlike Homer, Sappho claims that

Causes And Treatment Of Infective Endocarditis
Before discussing Infective Endocarditis, it s imperative to understand where the endocardium is
along with its function because endocarditis affects this area of the heart. The Endocardium is the
innermost layer of heart tissue that lines the cavities and valves of the heart and is composed of
loose epithelial and connective tissue. The endocardium regulates contractions of the heart and
helps regulate the composition of the bloodthat feeds the tissues of the heart (Kenney, 2015).
Infective Endocarditis, IE, is an infection of the endocardium that generally occurs when bacteria or
germs from another part of the body, such as the mouth, spread through the bloodstream and attach
to damaged areas in the heart (Endocarditis Definition, 2015). Individuals that have an increased
risk of developing Endocarditis include:
Those with Pacemakers or Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD)
Individuals with existing conditions of the heart valves
HIV (What Increases Your Risk of Endocarditis?, 2015).
Diabetes Mellitus and long term hemodialysis (Infective endocarditis in adults, 2001).
According to the American Heart Association, endocarditis affects twice as many men as women
and eight times as many older men as older woman. More than a quarter of all cases occur in
individuals that are older than 60 years of age (Heart Valves and Infective Endocarditis, 2014). In
the United States alone, national data indicated that in 2009 there were up to 28,000 hospital

called Learning Beyond. It is a small educational program that students can attend after school in
place of the after school child care. It provides a fun educational environment for students who
are in need of additional tutoring in certain subjects, or who wish to expand their knowledge
beyond the school day. As of right now, it is fairly small, but we would like room for additional
growth as the program gains popularity. The basic requirements are two main instructor computers,
10 student laptops, and one wireless printer. Internet access will be needed for each of these
computers as well. An additional building will later be provided at an alternate location that will
need to be connected to this main network. A Juniper Routerwill be needed, since the operating
system the computers will be running will be JUNOS. We will configure the network to be run on
the IPv6 addressing system, to prevent the need of reconfiguration when the mass crossover to
IPv6 occurs. The network needs to be configured to add any additional devices that will be needed
in the future as the program grows.
Configuring IPv6 on a Juniper router A router on the network will provide the ability to connect
multiple local area networks (LAN) together in order for them to communicate. In this case, we will
be using a Juniper router to accommodate the JUNOS operation system.

Puritan Influence On American Culture
The human brain is a story book filled with experiences. Every experience is a new page, and all
of these pages combine to form our personal perspective on the world. In America, we all have
an idea of what is right and what is wrong based off of our own experiences. This causes us to
have many biased views that do not capture the full picture. The values of our immigrant ancestors
define who we are today.
When we are children, we read various stories, and also taught many values from our parent s own
personal views. At the beginning of new generations, this cycle of teaching values repeats itself.
Many of these values we are taught today trace back to the groups that build our country.
When the Puritans landed upon the shores of America, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They viewed themselves as special people who had a covenant with God. They came to America
seeking to build a theocratic nation with religion as the focal point(PBS par. 2). This is why still to

The holiday of Christmas has always been a part of our Christian nation. The commercialization
of the holiday, however, came to be with the arrival of German immigrants. They brought with
them the idea of Santa Claus, the Christmas Trees, and the Easter Bunny(Chicchi par.6). Think
of how different Americans would be if only Christians celebrated Christmas, and Santa Claus
was not a part of the holiday. All of the ads and commercials around this time of year would be
drastically different, as well as our literature. All of the books that spur children s imagination
about elves and the North Pole would be lost. Some of the greatest memories I have of reading
came from my childhood around Christmas time. I loved reading novels inspired by Santa Claus
like The Polar Express. Stories of elves building toys and reindeer pulling sleighs give children
across our country a great imagination from a young

Wal Mart Integrated Inventory Management Systems
Wal Mart currently has one of the most advanced inventory management systems due to their use
of RFID tracking capabilities. Every product is equipped with a radio frequency identification tag,
which identifies the location and type of product in the warehouse. As the product leaves the

The store could also develop an app in the long run where customers could send a grocery list to
their cart from home that would come up on the display on the cart to make shopping a more
convenient activity. At the end of the shopping session, the shopper simply walks out of the store
with the cart where, at the door, the main reader receives a radiofrequency signal from the cart
that supplies the main reader with the total sum of the purchases. The reader sends that total to a
computer that charges the customer for their purchases on their credit card and sends an invoice
to the customers phone within minutes. This will allow for grocery stores to be able to analyze
customer preferences and buying habits in real time, which will allow them to be able to better
tailor their selection to their customers. The immediate benefits of this product are apparent this

Dbq Essay On The 18th Amendment
The 18th Amendment dealt with prohibiting the manufacture, transportation, and sale of alcohol.
This amendment was ratified by the U.S. government and was probably one of the most futile
proposals they could have ever came up with. The 18th amendment should have never been
approved because it just gave Americans an alternative to break the law. Also, the government
itself lost a great deal . Americans would ,in a sense, never give up alcholol, leaving the American
government helpless with no other decision then to repeal the ban. To begin, the 18th amendment
should have never been ratified because it gave Americans that spark of rebellion to break the law.
Americans did not want to listen to the 18th amendment and deliberatley set up discreet locations
just for them to drink alcohol. Document 2 states Many people in the U.S. opposed this
amendment and violated the law by going to places called speakeasies to drink Document 2 also

widespread corruption in our city government. Both of these pieces of text evidence demonstrate

Comparing Survival In Auschwitz And Hitler s Lack Of
In both Primo Levi s Survival in Auschwitz and Lydia Chukovskaya s Sofia Petrovna, basic
human and individual rights were compromised and destroyed. In Survival in Auschwitz, all the
comforts and basic necessities for life are taken away. Food and shelter were very limited and
were almost nonexistent. In Sofia Petrovna, she is brainwashed by the government, and
eventually goes mad because of all the stress in her everyday life. Both of these novels accurately
demonstrate the Stalinist and Nazi government s lack of respect for the people that they should be
protecting. While both Josef Stalin and Adolph Hitler s overall goals were different, they were

Stalin had individuals arrested without any reasonable explanation for their arrest, other than
they were a threat to the regime and his quest for total control. He had the power to arrest and do
away with anyone that disagreed or posed a threat to the regime. This compromised the
individual s rights in that the people could never feel safe because there was no rhyme or reason
to the way people were targeted in Russia. Hitler wanted to create a perfect and flawless race.
Therefore, he ordered the Nazi soldiers to round up anyone who was Jewish, homosexual,
mentally and physically disabled, and even the Jehovah s Witnesses. These innocent people
were held in terrible conditions at massive concentration camps. These people were immediately
stripped of their individual rights. They were separated from their families, forced to work in
terrible conditions, and eventually exterminated. Stalin and Hitler had absolutely no respect for
their people s individual rights whatsoever. Finally, the people living under Stalin and Hitler s
rule in their prospective countries were miserable. Even the people not captured by these
governments lived in constant fear of one day being captured. Both Stalin and Hitler instilled fear
in their people so the people would not revolt. They gained their followers and believers by

American exceptionalism can be defined as America emerging high above any other country.
Millions of people travel to America in hopes to achieve the American Dream . The country has
become so well known for its freedom; it has created the term American exceptionalism. However,
many people debate that America does not possess that established freedom. America does not
allow for everyone to exercise their rights freely. Rather, Americans treat others contrarily on
account of their sex, religion, race, and ethnicity. Today, someone may mention Muslims and
immediately a single term comes to mind terrorist. Then again, it is not the only expression that

Renewable energy is as green as it gets as it is by today s technical standards and it s a
marvellous method for fighting back against global warming. Fossil fuels are damaging the
planet and this can be our way of doing something about that. The most important part is that
renewable energy is commitment free and sustainable. It can be replenished so we can use as
much of this power as we need and we can restock it or it will restock itself. The sun and wind
are with us for the long haul. As sources of power they are just waiting to be tapped for our future
energy requirements all over the world. Even more importantly, renewable energy produces
little or no waste products such as carbon dioxide or other chemical pollutants, so has minimal
impact on the environment. Similarly, wind energy is friendly to surrounding environment, as
no fossil fuels are burnt to generate electricity. Moreover, wind turbines take up less space than
the average power stations. Wind mills only have to occupy a few metres for the base; this
allows the land around the turbine to be used for many purposes, for example agriculture. As

Analysis of To My Dear and Loving Husband by Anne Bradstreet
Analysis of To My Dear and Loving Husband by Anne Bradstreet
Anne Bradstreet, the author of To My Dear and Loving Husband was a
Puritan. This had great influence on the meaning and theme of her poem. This poem was
actually not published until almost 40 years after she died. She lived in a harsh religious world
where it was looked down upon for women to be courageous and smart. She lived a life that
where she was unspoken and obedient to because of her religious belief. She had many concerns
and doubts about her puritan beliefs and lifestyle. These doubts are presented in her poem. The
main theme of Bradstreet s poem is her undying love for her husband.

The love in which she describes is almost like a fairy tale. Despite the fact that I can not hear her
recite this poem I can imagine in my own mind that her voice is soft and gentle and like that of a
person in love. The first three lines state, If ever two were one, then surely we. If ever man were
loved by wife, then thee; if ever wife was happy in man. These three lines are significant not only
because they are the first three, making them the introduction but they also elude a graceful tone
to the poem. The words in these first three lines are grouped together so that they flow extremely
well that it makes it easier to read and it flows nicely through the minds ear. Love is a complicated
thing to understand but Bradstreet keeps it on a level that is easy for the reader to relate to and
maintain the mindset that you know exactly how she is feeling.
Imagery is what occurs when poets use words that appeal to our senses: we perceive, through his
or her words, a sense idea or image: these images can appeal to all six senses: sight, hearing, touch,
smell, taste, and balance. Bradstreet uses imagery in her poem to when she describes the love
between her and her husband. For example: In lines
8 10 Bradstreet writes; My love is such that rivers cannot quench, thy love is such I can no way
repay, the heavens reward thee manifold.
I pray. In these three lines Bradstreet is using imagery by explaining that the love

Essay on The Hiking Trail of American Fork Canyon
The hiking trail begins with a pile of loose rocks, a talus slope, thanks to rocks that fall down one
of the walls of the American Fork Canyon. The walls of the American Fork Canyon were
widened by erosion. Many of the rocks are cracked. This is caused by the presence of vegetation.
The trees and other plants that grow in the rocky area dig their roots down deep into the rocks,
causing cracking. This is known as physical organic weathering. The valley of the American
Fork Canyon has a V shape when viewed from a distance. This is indicative of its age, meaning it
is young and was never covered over in ice, or glaciated. If this had occurred, the valley would

This means that the fault is created by angular fragments of rock caused by movement along the
fault.
There are three caves, the Hansen cave, the Middle Cave, and the Timpanogos cave. There is a
fault line located right at the entrance of the Middle Cave. The minerals found most commonly
in caves everywhere are carbonite minerals, two of which, calcite and aragonite, are the two
found in these caves. Inside the caves, there are many different formations. There are 43
recorded formations, or speleothems. One example is the stalactites found in Hansen cave that
are 77 years old. Another example is of the many helictites that have formed in Timpanogos cave.
Helictites form from the pulling of water through pores in the coverings of the walls. Calcite
forms around the tiny openings and water continues to fall through the straw like structure,
which continues to form in the direction the water is falling. Branches are formed on the
helictites when a passage through one way closes or clogs and the water is forced to find
another exit. There is an area that is called Father Time s Jewel Box. There is another formation
that was just recently discovered and identified. It is known as Christmas Tree Coral. There is
also frostwork, which are thin spreads of aragonite crystals. Carbon dioxide from a possible

The Unemployment Rate Is A Good Start
The unemployment rate has worried the Federal government since the collapse of 2008. The
biggest task of any Federal Reserve chairman has been to fix these crises. Over the last seven
years the Federal Reserve tried to get the job market on track. Many have said, when the
unemployment rate fell to 5.5 percent that this translated to a mission accomplished. I am sorry, but
this isn t a mission accomplished. The unemployment rate right now is a good start, but this is still
a great worry for most. Janet Yellen, my advice for you is think outside the box with the
unemployment rate. Yes, 5.5 is a perception, but think of all the people that aren t in the job market.
This number will increase greatly because of all the new students coming out of school. Also, try
taking into the account about the monetary and fiscal policy and how it will affect the tradeoff
between unemployment and inflation. This is a work in progress to help this country grow, we
should all stand together as one and help the job market.
As I begin to write what will help create jobs for the unemployed I must write about the monetary
policy. The monetary policy is an very unique policy that impacts inflation and can create a
worldwide demand for goods and services, which would create jobs. As a result, employees who
produce goods and services primarily through its influence on the financial demands face

Theme Of Characterization In The Pobber Bride
Characterization is a literary device that is used step by step in literature to highlight and explain
the details about a character in a story. This has been used as a literary tool for about five hundred
years. However, older forms of Literature were focused more on the plot rather than the characters.
The usage of characterization in Literature became popular after scholars began to consider
psychology as a scientific field around the 19th century, which resulted in why readers started
getting interested in why the characters acted a certain way , how did the character react and so on.
Authors use characterization in their literary work, to give substance to their characters, show the
characters motivation, and allow the readers to connect with the characters.
For my investigation, I will explore The portrayal of characterization involved with women
empowerment in The Robber Bride . The novel that is being investigated is a literary work by

The Pivotal Political Decisions On The Young American...
The pivotal political decisions in the young American republic of the late 18th century were made
by a select few leaders. These forerunners knew each other at a personal level, and their
gregariousness had a remarkable impact on the choices they made in the future. In the words of an
accomplished historian and a biographer, Joseph Ellis, these crucial decisions with an astounding
aftermath came about in a sudden spasm of enforced inspiration and makeshift construction (3). In
addition, in his new non fiction erudite study, Founding Brothers: The Revolutionary Generation,
published in the year 2000, Ellis strives to illustrate how these decisions came about in a sudden
spasm of enforced inspiration and makeshift construction during the final decades of the eighteenth
century. (3). Thus, in order to distinguish between categorical truth and romantic fiction, Ellis
focuses primarily on the forerunners themselves, wishing to examine how their relationships
resonated through political changes.
As an ardent historian, Joseph Ellis has written numerous books on the topic of American history.
Some of his most famous include: Passionate Sage: The Character and Legacy of John Adams and
American Sphinx: The Character of Thomas Jefferson, which won the 1997 National Book Award.
After graduating from Yale University and the College of William and Mary, Ellis currently lives in
Amherst, Massachusetts, with his wife, Ellen, and three sons.
Joseph Ellis eloquently conveys the

Similarities Between Thelma And Louise
Thelma and Louise were two regular women in a world filled with controlling, greedy, powerful
men. Thelma, played by Geena Davis was married to Darryl, a man who only cared about
watching TV by himself without being bothered by anything that his wife said or did. Louise,
played by Susan Sarandon, is a waitress dating a musician who is on the road all the time. Both
women were sick and tired of the same monotonous routine. Even though Thelma seemed like
she was in a happy marriage, she was miserable. She always had to play the part of the perfect
housewife who takes care of her husband. This film was made in 1991, and it does portray a story
during those years too. It is interesting to see that more than two decades ago, women were made to

They didn t fit in the society they lived in, they had a free spirit screaming to get out. J.D. would
also be an outcast. Even Thelma in the film says, You re a real live outlaw, aren t ya? He came
into their lives, pretended to be the good guy and then robbed all their money. At the end of the
day he did, what these women also did, which is to find a way to survive and escape from the
police. It is interesting to see two women in roles that would best fit men. That was the catch, no
one before had seen two women head out on a road trip and end up killing a guy and running
away from the police. Women are supposed to be gentle, caring, and they should leave the harsh
things to men. Women are considered delicate and are made to love and be loved, but at the end
of the day that doesn t mean women are not capable of doing things men take pride in. We can
drive cars just like men do, we can vote just like they do, we can think for ourselves just like they
do, we are strong, intelligent, independent and strong willed. We have the same rights as men do,
but why are we still inferior to them? Why does society think this way? Well, in the 19th and 20th
century it was because that s the way people thought, but now everything is different. Now Hillary
Clinton is a candidate to be the President of America. Now Angela Merkel is the chancellor

Comparison Of Blindness And The Maze Runner
Blindness For my reading for this trimester I chose to read Blindness. The book starts with a man
suddenly going blind at a traffic light. From there everyone who comes in contact with this man
becomes blind and then the people who become blind find that people they come in contact with
also become blind. I had several connections with this book. In this paper I will talk about my
connections with this book to other books I have read and this book to my life. Two books that
this story reminded me of were The Hunger Games series and the Maze runner series. One of the
main reasons why I thought of these books was because of the fact that they are trapped or
contained in a place against their will. A similarly between The Maze Runner and Blindness is
that they have a reason why they were put in these places in The Maze Runner they were put in
the maze because of their intelligence. In Blindness they were put in the asylum because of the
fear of the blindness spreading. A second reason is that in these stories it seems like the
government or whoever was in charge was against the people contained in these areas. In a way all
the governments in these... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For me it was only because I was over heated, but I could only imagine what it would be like to
suddenly go blind and not no how it happened or how to fix it. I definitely think it would be
helpful to have someone like the doctor s wife to guide you and help you with the everyday
things you would need help with. Why the doctor s wife never goes blind we don t know. I just
don t understand how just about the whole world goes blind but she somehow doesn t. She must
be immune to getting it or just be lucky because she was in the asylum with all these blind people
when there could have been other people in the world isolated in their home who did get

Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. This article is also discussing about how the American dream, the

However, I have never been able to forgive the rich for being rich, and it has colored my entire
life and works (352). This is also connecting to the ideas that he presented in the book The Great
Gatsby.
Foderaro, Lisa W. A Spacious Village Resists Making Room for a Valley of Ashes. The New York
Times. The New York Times, 14 Aug. 1988. Web. 06 Nov. 2014.
Lisa Foderaro in her article discusses how the landfills like the valley of ashes are creating
problems for the people living in that area. She talks about problems created by contaminating
their water, increasing truck traffic and pushing down real estate values (Foderaro). Location
was not the only problem, it effected the people socially and economically too. Lisa Foderaro
further talks about other landfills which are consuming a huge area of land only to use it as a
dumping ground. On the other side people are coming to the street as they are lacking of space to
live. This idea again connects back to the idea that is presented i n the book The Great Gatsby in
the valley of ashes.

The Red s Backbone And The Other s `` Tell Chilling...
Introduction; In the late 1960 s to early 1970 s Spain rose as one of the leading countries to
dominate the horror film genre. Struggling under a brutal and confining dictatorship for much of
the 20th century, Spanish cinema took a while to come together. During the hard days of General
Franco s regime a series of horror films, such as The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue, a
zombie classic, were produced, mainly for the English market. In the remaining years under
Franco, hundreds of horror films were released, all of which were identified by their violence,
eroticism, and unrestrained cinematography. Spanish horror films such as, The Devil s Backbone
and The Other s, tell chilling ghost stories that go beyond the genre and successfully mix suspense,
horror, and the coming of age during the harsh wartime.
History of Spanish Horror: After General Franco s regime fell, a new wave of young directors,
such as Bigas Luna and Pedro Almodovar, basked in their newfound freedom of expression to
produce films that were unrestricted. In the 21st century, a more mature Spanish film industry had
returned to the horror genre in a big way. There have been many of box office horror filmhits
produced outside of Spain with Spanish talent behind the camera, such as The Others. Spanish
horror films had been designed to appeal to international markets due to a crisis in the Spanish film
production that prompted producers to seek profits in the established European distribution and
exhibition

Consequentialism Vs Deontological Analysis
To analyze the dilemma one must understand how a consequentialist and a deontological would
come to their conclusions. A basic difference is the consequentialist would believe the end justifies
the means. A deontologist would conclude that irrespective of outcomes, the method or means
should conform to a stricture or rule set.
The consequentialist is focused on the consequences of the action. If the end result provides more
good than bad, they would conclude the action justifies the end result. To make a conclusion the
consequentialist would ask; who will be affected by the action, who would benefit from performing
the action, who would be harmed by performing the action, who would benefit from not performing
the action, who would be harmed by not performing the action. The consequentialist would then
make a decision based on were the most good would be derived. One of the most well known
practices of the consequentialist theory is Utilitarianism which is focused the the better good for
society. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the action itself is deemed inappropriate, then the action should not be performed regardless of
how beneficial the outcome would be. To determine if an action should be taken or not, a
deontological minded person would compare the performance of the action to a set of internal or
external rule sets, asking if others with this rule set would find the decision acceptable or not. If it
is determined that most with a similar rule set would find the action unacceptable then the action
would not be taken regardless of the benefits of the outcome. Kantianism is a well known
deontological theory, where it is believed that action are not measured by their outcome, but rather,
by what motivated the individual taking the

Compare And Contrast Rome And Grecians
Religion and government played an important role in lives of Grecians and Romans during
ancient times. Both nations were polytheistic and militaristic, however only Rome switched to
Christianity, broke up, (rather than collapsed), after national conflict and was centralized. Both
Grecians and Romans were polytheistic. Because Greece and Rome were two of the earliest
civilizations, the ignorance of this earlier time prevailed. People were unsure of why certain
events could occur, (like the rising and setting of a sun), and set out to delegate a position and
meaning for all of the Gods they dreamed up. Failure to appease these Gods would result in
punishment. For example the sun wouldn t rise or the crops would die. Sacrifices were often given

Greeks had Poseidon who was the god of the sea. The Romans had Neptune who was also the

Human Anatomy And Physiology Essay
Mr. Browns Dilemma
Mona Sweetwine Rodriguez
SC 121 Human Anatomy and Physiology I

Professor Catherine Rice
Mr. Browns Dilemma
Good Morning Mr. Brown, my name is Mona and I am a physician s assistant. Thank you for
coming in to meet with me today. Today I ll be going over your recent lab work along with the
results. The last time you were in to see the doctor he ordered testing for you that is known as a
lipid panel or a cholesterol panel. A lipid panel is done to measure four main things which are your
cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, and LDL
I will now tell you a little about your results and explain what your results mean for your health.
You may feel free to ask any questions to gain clarification of anything that you may not
understand. First I will discuss your Triglyceride level results, I want to explain to you exactly
what triglycerides are before giving you your personal result. Triglycerides are a type of fat (lipid)
found in your blood. Whenever you eat something your body automatically turns any calories it
feels is unnecessary for you to have into triglycerides.
The triglycerides are then stored in your fat cells, and later on the hormones in your body will set
free triglycerides to be used as energy for you in between your meals. Your triglyceride level result
is 145 mg/dl which is good. A normal triglyceride level is considered to be Less than 150
milligrams per deciliter (mg/dL). Both Triglycerides and cholesterol are separate types

  • 2. Analysis Of Lemony Snicket s Series Of Unfortunate Events Reader Response I first read Lemony Snicket s Series of Unfortunate Events when I was 10 years old. Having little patience, I planned to just skim through but found myself immediately immersed in the story and the writing style. The author uses clever techniques to appeal to both children and older readers, which allowed me to remain engaged with the text. Snicket warns that, if you are interested in books with happy endings, you would be better off reading some other book. I found myself attracted to the gothic elements and darker nature of the text. I found it to be uniquely different to the traditional fairy tales with a clichГ© happily ever after . A Series of Unfortunate Eventshas no typical happily ever after, but the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a child, I often felt frustrated that adults would not always take me seriously. I felt empowered by the idea that perhaps I too was capable of solving my own problems as a self reliant and independent being. Snicket is a clever and humorous narrator. He assists the reader with more advanced words, explaining them in their given context. As a young reader, this was very educational and helpful and allowed me to further understand and enjoy the series. As an older reader, I came to realise that he did this in a comedic way. For example, Snicket writes, It is now necessary for me to use the rather hackneyed phrase meanwhile, back at the ranch. The word hackneyed here means used by so, so many writers that by the time Lemony Snicket uses it, it is a tiresome clichГ©. Snicket also introduces children to important concepts and ideas. He notes, your initial opinion of things may change over time, and the children knew, as I m sure you know, that the worst surroundings can be tolerated if the people in them are interesting and kind. He also addressed more serious issues, acting as a moral guide, but ensured these issues were not too overwhelming by maintaining a sense of humour. He writes, stealing is not excusable if, for instance, you are in a museum and you decide that a certain painting would look better in your house... But if you were very very hungry, and you had no way of obtaining money, it might be excusable to grab the painting, take it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Stereosonic Target Audience 1.Billboard, vehicle, street press and outdoor campaigns are used by Stereosonic to capture a larger audience. Patron postcode data is used to place billboards and posters at key spots (Marketing Magazine 2011). The majority of Australians spend more time out and about in summer (Adshel Summer Campaign 2012). This increase the opportunity for Stereosonic s billboards and outdoor advertisement to be seen. It is broadcasted by location, universities, bus/tram shelters, bus /tram exteriors, shopping centres, malls, roadsides, free standing panels and mobile billboards (Huynh 2014). Future Music Festival uses this strategy too but also see guerrilla marketingas an effective method (refer to Appendix A). Outdoor advertisement may be used to drive the target audience online and in particular to the festival s website. Thus, billboards and outdoor advertisement is an expensive advertisement method and may not be as appealing for small festivals like Listen Out nor bring much in return. This due to their media savvy target indie millennium audience, which they may use other more appealing strategies to reach. 2.The three investigated festivals have also been identified on social media and YouTube to advertise by using emotional tools such as a pictures or video clips of punters dancing and having a good time. • 4. Privatization Of A Capitalist Society A criminal is easier to deal with when they re found dead. A living criminal must be tried in court of their peers, provided legal representation, and then must have whatever prison time they receive if any paid for by the Government. Meanwhile a dead criminal just needs to be acknowledged then buried. When it comes to dealing with live criminals, a government finds itself in a position where it must provide for the safety and wellbeing of members of society that are often ignored, which can be costly and lead to endless legal red tape. Seeking to relieve some of this burden, The United States quickly leapt at the opportunity to take some of that burden and deliver it to the private sector, and thus, the private, for profit prisonwas born (Mason). since we already live and work under the control of the free market, privatization prisons makes sense in a capitalist society. While this a straightforward and appealing approach, the nature of a prison system and the duty it must fulfill in society makes such capitalist ideals difficult to implement effectively as well as dangerous in practice. While not necessarily an abject failure, prison privatization has been extremely detrimental to American society. The issues caused by private prisons are multifaceted and complex, but they can be simplified into three main areas: an increase in recidivism, a decrease in prisoner quality of life, and private influence over the American legal system. The first, and most apparent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Comparison Between Friedrich Nietzsche And Dr. Martin... Whether or not you agree with their views, both Friedrich Nietzsche and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. were great, highly influential men. Their views, though radically different, impacted the world in the greatest of ways, altering history for many nations. While Nietzsche, a German philosopher from the 1800s, spoke from a materialistic point of view, believing that there is no god and that all that exists is matter, King, a civil rights activist of the 1900s, spoke from the belief in transcendence, that there is indeed a god, and that he exists in a divine realm outside of this universe. But not only do these men differ in their backgrounds and religious beliefs, they differ radically in how they believe society should function. In Nietzsche s writings, he promoted a system that emphasizes will to power. He believed that an aristocracywas the basis for a great society. King, on the other hand, promoted a system of equality and justice. He thought all men were created equal, and that society should reflect that belief. The writings of these men have come to be studied by people everywhere. They are so influential, in fact, that one of them played an incredible role in getting our society to the point that it is today. As stated previously, Nietzsche s work was both great and highly influential. The Nazis even used his writings as a basis for their beliefs. First-Round Running Back Case Study Tier 1: Potential First Round Running Backs | Todd Gurley, David Johnson, Lamar Miller, Ezekiel Elliot, Adrian Peterson What Gurley can do for you is simple: break games open. C.J. Anderson should get a bigger workload. We expected him to get a big workload last year; but this year, he may have finally put the threats of Ronnie Hillman and now Devontae Booker to bed. Roasting marshmallows, sharing stories, or just sitting and absorbing the nature around you are just a few of the many enjoyable activities that can be done with a bonfire! However, what may look like a simple set up might be more complex than one would assume. In fact, there are several steps a person should follow when constructing a campfire. Practicing these instructions can not only lead to a more successful, thriving bonfire, but can also guide you to becoming more safe and aware. When my dad taught me how to build a fire, it was an overall bonding experience. He was patient with me through the many failed attempts and constantly reminded me that safety was the most important factor. The skills that I learned from him will continue to come in handy any time my friends or family want to gather around a campfire. The first step that is pretty essential in building a campfire, that several people may overlook, is finding a suitable, safe place to have one. If there is a fire ring that is already present, then even better. Try to look for an open space away from buildings or other things that are easily flammable. Ask yourself a few questions before you start: Are campfires allowed in this area? Are the weather conditions up to par? (It shouldn t be too windy or rainy.) Is the site properly prepared? A modern drum set consists of a bass (or kick) drum, 2 3 toms, 1 snare drum, a hi hat and 1 2 cymbals. C. My 3rd point is to explain how the type of wood affects the sound of the drums ( Drum shells explained, ). 1. How do you decide on the type of wood for your kit? a. Mahogany gives you the lowest tone out of the 3 woods. Keep in mind that this has to be high quality mahogany, like African mahogany. Basic Parameters That Affect The Performance 7.Basic Parameters That Affect The Performance in RTOS 7.1Multi tasking and preemptable: In RTOS the system have to be multitasking and preemptable because those two features make the RTOS Scheduler end any lower priority task to execute the higher ones or to release some resources for other tasks that urgently need those resources. Also the system have to handle different level of priorities of interrupts.(Yerraballi,R. 2000) 7.2Dynamic deadline identification: In some scheduling algorithms such as (EDF)the deadline is converted to priority levels. Then we can control priorities by controlling the deadlines. Although such an approach is error prone, nonetheless it is employed for lack of a better solution (Buttazzo, 2005). 7.3Predictable synchronization: The threads of the system need to communication and to be synchronized in a timely efficient and predictable way. 7.4Sufficient Priority Levels: In the scheduling algorithms based on priorities. There must be enough levels of priorities. Priority inversion occur when a low level priority hold the resource that the the high level priority is waiting for or blocked due to this resource, and the lower priority is delayed because low priority task. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Focused background Alkaline phosphatase will behave like a protein, due to the fact that it is a glycoprotein. Utilizing the above mentioned information it is possible to test for the optimum pH. Alkaline phosphatase will function optimally at a pH of around 10 (an alkaline pH). If one was to assess the range of the pH pertaining to this enzyme, it can be seen that there will be a point where the enzyme has the greatest activity, whereby it produces the highest concentration of the so called product . Due to the previous knowledge of proteins, it can be deduced that at acidic pH the protein will have very low activity or will denature. It should also be noted that once the optimal pH has been reached and surpassed, the enzymes rate of activity will begin to reduce. As previously stated, temperature is another variable that can affect the enzyme reaction rate. At low temperatures there will be little to no activity but as the temperature is increased so the rate of activity will increase. However, just like pH, once the optimal temperature is reached and surpassed, the enzyme will begin to break apart. The enzyme will be experimentally tested using temperatures around room temperature (27в„ѓ). Due to the fact that there is a human application the enzyme will continue to be tested until temperatures of human death (45в„ѓ). After the testing is completed it can be deduced what temperatures create an optimum environment for the normal functioning of the enzyme. One ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 17. Piety And Its Role As Powerful Positions During The Period... Piety and its Role in Powerful Positions During the period of early Arab conquests, massive transformations were taking place as a new great confessional empire was emerging. During this time many conflicts and questions arose. Who is the rightful Caliph once the prophet Muhammad dies? What makes a good Caliph? What is to be done with the non Muslims? What does it mean to be a Muslim? One of the major themes that arose from these questions was the importance of being pious when holding some form of power, whether political or military. Primary sources demonstrate how this theme has come to fruition, such as in a letter to the Caliph Umar II, and Tabari s The History of Prophet s and Kings. The letter to Caliph Umar II is important in developing the role of religious devotion in connection to holding power because it starts to question what exactly the role of the Caliph is. It seems by this letter that the role of the Caliph is not just to be a political head for the conquered land of the Caliphate, but they also need to be a religious leader as well. An important part of being that religious head is being pious, to demonstrate to others how to fully become devout and submit to God. The writer, Hasan al Basri, in this letter is asking the Caliph to do away with luxury and go back to the simpler times because it is dangerous to dally in decadence. It is a critique of the lavish life style of the recent Caliphs, with desert palaces and extravagant mosques, and how that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. Summary Of Helen In Sappho s Odyssey And Helen Faith Butler CLA October 3, 2017 Title Homer is a legendary writer who is foreshadowed by many other writers in his work. While most agree with and follow in Homers footsteps, there are also those who deliberately see and do things in a dissimilar way. This can be presented by the use of the character, Helen, in the Odysseyand in Sappho s Fragment 16. Homer and Sappho use Helen in their stories in conflicting ways to differentiate epic and lyric poetry while also expressing different ideas and perspectives. In both the Odyssey and Sappho s Fragment 16, Homer and Sappho speak of and acknowledge Helens beauty. Though, they do so in different ways. In the Odyssey, Homer compares Helen to that of a goddess using Artemis as an example. Although homer describes her beauty in a positive light, he also claims that Helens attractiveness caused the Trojan war and the death and suffering of many. when all you Achaeans fought at Troy, launching your headlong battles just for my sake, shameless whore that I was (160). Therefore in the Odyssey, Helen is depicted as an intricate character. In epic poems, this is a trend that can be seen throughout the reading as the writing style goes into greater detail. One can also conclude that Homer tends to focus on the negative and emphasize war. In fragments 16, Sappho claims that mortals cannot compare to the beauty of Helen. Sappho remains simple and to the point with her description of Helen. Unlike Homer, Sappho claims that the cause of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Causes And Treatment Of Infective Endocarditis Before discussing Infective Endocarditis, it s imperative to understand where the endocardium is along with its function because endocarditis affects this area of the heart. The Endocardium is the innermost layer of heart tissue that lines the cavities and valves of the heart and is composed of loose epithelial and connective tissue. The endocardium regulates contractions of the heart and helps regulate the composition of the bloodthat feeds the tissues of the heart (Kenney, 2015). Infective Endocarditis, IE, is an infection of the endocardium that generally occurs when bacteria or germs from another part of the body, such as the mouth, spread through the bloodstream and attach to damaged areas in the heart (Endocarditis Definition, 2015). Individuals that have an increased risk of developing Endocarditis include: Those with Pacemakers or Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) Individuals with existing conditions of the heart valves HIV (What Increases Your Risk of Endocarditis?, 2015). Diabetes Mellitus and long term hemodialysis (Infective endocarditis in adults, 2001). According to the American Heart Association, endocarditis affects twice as many men as women and eight times as many older men as older woman. More than a quarter of all cases occur in individuals that are older than 60 years of age (Heart Valves and Infective Endocarditis, 2014). • 20. The Network Structure Is Called Learning Beyond Organization Description The organization we will be working for to organize and implement their network structure is called Learning Beyond. It is a small educational program that students can attend after school in place of the after school child care. It provides a fun educational environment for students who are in need of additional tutoring in certain subjects, or who wish to expand their knowledge beyond the school day. As of right now, it is fairly small, but we would like room for additional growth as the program gains popularity. The basic requirements are two main instructor computers, 10 student laptops, and one wireless printer. Internet access will be needed for each of these computers as well. An additional building will later be provided at an alternate location that will need to be connected to this main network. A Juniper Routerwill be needed, since the operating system the computers will be running will be JUNOS. We will configure the network to be run on the IPv6 addressing system, to prevent the need of reconfiguration when the mass crossover to IPv6 occurs. The network needs to be configured to add any additional devices that will be needed in the future as the program grows. Configuring IPv6 on a Juniper router A router on the network will provide the ability to connect multiple local area networks (LAN) together in order for them to communicate. In this case, we will be using a Juniper router to accommodate the JUNOS operation system. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 21. Puritan Influence On American Culture The human brain is a story book filled with experiences. Every experience is a new page, and all of these pages combine to form our personal perspective on the world. In America, we all have an idea of what is right and what is wrong based off of our own experiences. This causes us to have many biased views that do not capture the full picture. The values of our immigrant ancestors define who we are today. When we are children, we read various stories, and also taught many values from our parent s own personal views. At the beginning of new generations, this cycle of teaching values repeats itself. Many of these values we are taught today trace back to the groups that build our country. This amendment was ratified by the U.S. government and was probably one of the most futile proposals they could have ever came up with. The 18th amendment should have never been approved because it just gave Americans an alternative to break the law. Also, the government itself lost a great deal . • 38. The Unemployment Rate Is A Good Start The unemployment rate has worried the Federal government since the collapse of 2008. The biggest task of any Federal Reserve chairman has been to fix these crises. Over the last seven years the Federal Reserve tried to get the job market on track. Many have said, when the unemployment rate fell to 5.5 percent that this translated to a mission accomplished. I am sorry, but this isn t a mission accomplished. The unemployment rate right now is a good start, but this is still a great worry for most. Janet Yellen, my advice for you is think outside the box with the unemployment rate. Yes, 5.5 is a perception, but think of all the people that aren t in the job market. This number will increase greatly because of all the new students coming out of school. Also, try taking into the account about the monetary and fiscal policy and how it will affect the tradeoff between unemployment and inflation. This is a work in progress to help this country grow, we should all stand together as one and help the job market. As I begin to write what will help create jobs for the unemployed I must write about the monetary policy. The monetary policy is an very unique policy that impacts inflation and can create a worldwide demand for goods and services, which would create jobs. As a result, employees who produce goods and services primarily through its influence on the financial demands face troublesome include households and firms. The Federal Reserve also can affect financial conditions by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Theme Of Characterization In The Pobber Bride Characterization is a literary device that is used step by step in literature to highlight and explain the details about a character in a story. This has been used as a literary tool for about five hundred years. However, older forms of Literature were focused more on the plot rather than the characters. The usage of characterization in Literature became popular after scholars began to consider psychology as a scientific field around the 19th century, which resulted in why readers started getting interested in why the characters acted a certain way , how did the character react and so on. Authors use characterization in their literary work, to give substance to their characters, show the characters motivation, and allow the readers to connect with the characters. For my investigation, I will explore The portrayal of characterization involved with women empowerment in The Robber Bride . The novel that is being investigated is a literary work by Margaret Atwood. Margaret Atwood is a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 40. The Pivotal Political Decisions On The Young American... The pivotal political decisions in the young American republic of the late 18th century were made by a select few leaders. These forerunners knew each other at a personal level, and their gregariousness had a remarkable impact on the choices they made in the future. In the words of an accomplished historian and a biographer, Joseph Ellis, these crucial decisions with an astounding aftermath came about in a sudden spasm of enforced inspiration and makeshift construction (3). In addition, in his new non fiction erudite study, Founding Brothers: The Revolutionary Generation, published in the year 2000, Ellis strives to illustrate how these decisions came about in a sudden spasm of enforced inspiration and makeshift construction during the final decades of the eighteenth century. (3). Thus, in order to distinguish between categorical truth and romantic fiction, Ellis focuses primarily on the forerunners themselves, wishing to examine how their relationships resonated through political changes. As an ardent historian, Joseph Ellis has written numerous books on the topic of American history. Some of his most famous include: Passionate Sage: The Character and Legacy of John Adams and American Sphinx: The Character of Thomas Jefferson, which won the 1997 National Book Award. After graduating from Yale University and the College of William and Mary, Ellis currently lives in Amherst, Massachusetts, with his wife, Ellen, and three sons. • 41. Similarities Between Thelma And Louise Thelma and Louise were two regular women in a world filled with controlling, greedy, powerful men. Thelma, played by Geena Davis was married to Darryl, a man who only cared about watching TV by himself without being bothered by anything that his wife said or did. Louise, played by Susan Sarandon, is a waitress dating a musician who is on the road all the time. Both women were sick and tired of the same monotonous routine. Even though Thelma seemed like she was in a happy marriage, she was miserable. She always had to play the part of the perfect housewife who takes care of her husband. This film was made in 1991, and it does portray a story during those years too. It is interesting to see that more than two decades ago, women were made to ... At the end of the day he did, what these women also did, which is to find a way to survive and escape from the police. It is interesting to see two women in roles that would best fit men. That was the catch, no one before had seen two women head out on a road trip and end up killing a guy and running away from the police. Women are supposed to be gentle, caring, and they should leave the harsh things to men. Women are considered delicate and are made to love and be loved, but at the end of the day that doesn t mean women are not capable of doing things men take pride in. We can drive cars just like men do, we can vote just like they do, we can think for ourselves just like they do, we are strong, intelligent, independent and strong willed. We have the same rights as men do, but why are we still inferior to them? Why does society think this way? • 42. Comparison Of Blindness And The Maze Runner Blindness For my reading for this trimester I chose to read Blindness. The book starts with a man suddenly going blind at a traffic light. From there everyone who comes in contact with this man becomes blind and then the people who become blind find that people they come in contact with also become blind. I had several connections with this book. In this paper I will talk about my connections with this book to other books I have read and this book to my life. Two books that this story reminded me of were The Hunger Games series and the Maze runner series. One of the main reasons why I thought of these books was because of the fact that they are trapped or contained in a place against their will. A similarly between The Maze Runner and Blindness is that they have a reason why they were put in these places in The Maze Runner they were put in the maze because of their intelligence. In Blindness they were put in the asylum because of the fear of the blindness spreading. A second reason is that in these stories it seems like the government or whoever was in charge was against the people contained in these areas. In a way all the governments in these... • 44. The Red s Backbone And The Other s `` Tell Chilling... Introduction; In the late 1960 s to early 1970 s Spain rose as one of the leading countries to dominate the horror film genre. Struggling under a brutal and confining dictatorship for much of the 20th century, Spanish cinema took a while to come together. During the hard days of General Franco s regime a series of horror films, such as The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue, a zombie classic, were produced, mainly for the English market. In the remaining years under Franco, hundreds of horror films were released, all of which were identified by their violence, eroticism, and unrestrained cinematography. Spanish horror films such as, The Devil s Backbone and The Other s, tell chilling ghost stories that go beyond the genre and successfully mix suspense, horror, and the coming of age during the harsh wartime. History of Spanish Horror: After General Franco s regime fell, a new wave of young directors, such as Bigas Luna and Pedro Almodovar, basked in their newfound freedom of expression to produce films that were unrestricted. In the 21st century, a more mature Spanish film industry had returned to the horror genre in a big way. There have been many of box office horror filmhits produced outside of Spain with Spanish talent behind the camera, such as The Others. Spanish horror films had been designed to appeal to international markets due to a crisis in the Spanish film production that prompted producers to seek profits in the established European distribution and exhibition ... • 45. Consequentialism Vs Deontological Analysis To analyze the dilemma one must understand how a consequentialist and a deontological would come to their conclusions. A basic difference is the consequentialist would believe the end justifies the means. A deontologist would conclude that irrespective of outcomes, the method or means should conform to a stricture or rule set. The consequentialist is focused on the consequences of the action. If the end result provides more good than bad, they would conclude the action justifies the end result. To make a conclusion the consequentialist would ask; who will be affected by the action, who would benefit from performing the action, who would be harmed by performing the action, who would benefit from not performing the action, who would be harmed by not performing the action. The consequentialist would then make a decision based on were the most good would be derived. One of the most well known practices of the consequentialist theory is Utilitarianism which is focused the the better good for society. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If the action itself is deemed inappropriate, then the action should not be performed regardless of how beneficial the outcome would be. To determine if an action should be taken or not, a deontological minded person would compare the performance of the action to a set of internal or external rule sets, asking if others with this rule set would find the decision acceptable or not. If it is determined that most with a similar rule set would find the action unacceptable then the action would not be taken regardless of the benefits of the outcome. • 46. Compare And Contrast Rome And Grecians Religion and government played an important role in lives of Grecians and Romans during ancient times. Both nations were polytheistic and militaristic, however only Rome switched to Christianity, broke up, (rather than collapsed), after national conflict and was centralized. Both Grecians and Romans were polytheistic. Because Greece and Rome were two of the earliest civilizations, the ignorance of this earlier time prevailed. People were unsure of why certain events could occur, (like the rising and setting of a sun), and set out to delegate a position and meaning for all of the Gods they dreamed up. Failure to appease these Gods would result in punishment. For example the sun wouldn t rise or the crops would die. Sacrifices were often given ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thank you for coming in to meet with me today. Today I ll be going over your recent lab work along with the results. The last time you were in to see the doctor he ordered testing for you that is known as a lipid panel or a cholesterol panel. A lipid panel is done to measure four main things which are your cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, and LDL I will now tell you a little about your results and explain what your results mean for your health. You may feel free to ask any questions to gain clarification of anything that you may not understand. First I will discuss your Triglyceride level results, I want to explain to you exactly what triglycerides are before giving you your personal result. Triglycerides are a type of fat (lipid) found in your blood. Whenever you eat something your body automatically turns any calories it feels is unnecessary for you to have into triglycerides.
