Gretchen Am Spinnrade
Gretchen Am Spinnrade Franz Schubert composed the German Lieder, Gretchen Am Spinnrade, in
1814. This composition is one of Schubert s pinnacle compositions, which introduced the world to
the idea of the Romantic Lied, veering away from the already existing Classical Lied. Observing the
form, rhythmic structure, key modulations and dynamics with relation to the text, Schubert paints a
beautiful emotional drama for the listener allowing them to dive into the thoughts and emotions the
woman, Gretchen, is experiencing while longing for her lover, Faust. Gretchen Am Spinnrade is a
modified strophic composition in a seven part rondo form ABACADA. The A sections could be
interpreted as the reality that Gretchen is faced with, and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shifting our focus back to the key modulations, the A section returns once we reach m 73. The D
section begins in m 85 just as it did in the C section with a dominant 7th chord preceded by its
key modulation, so Bb major 7 to Eb major to C major 7 to F major to D major 7 to g minor to E
major 7 to A major in mm 85 92. The A section finally makes a return yet again in m 114 to finish
off the piece in d minor. Dynamics play a critical role in this lied to help bring across even more
meaning within the lyrics. Looking at the beginning A section, it utilizes a crescendo from the
beginning pianissimo in m 6, which then decrescendos with each word repeat I ll find it, never
more and completely decrescendos by m 11. The B section, which starts at m 13, raises the
volume to mezzo forte by m18 even though the wording describes a silent grave , as if she s
begging to break free of this silent grave that she claims to be trapped in. Then, in m22 there is a
crescendo with and my poor head and in m27 by thoughts of him . This leads into a decrescendo
in m 28 when describing who has my heart . The return of the A section in m 31 uses a bit
different dynamics. This time, rather than having a decrescendo in I ll find it, I ll find it never,
never more a crescendo is utilized on both I ll find it expressions. Forte is then

Contribution Of The Montessori Method
Maria Montessori once stated, The greatest sign of success for a teacher is to be able to say, The
children are now working as if I did not exist (Chattin McNichols, 1992). The end goal of a
Montessori classroom is to create independent and curious learners ready to take on any challenge
thrown their way. The Montessori Methoddiffers from traditional school settings because learning is
child centered, meaning children create their own knowledge from experiences within a prepared
environment.
Who were the leaders?
Maria Montessori, the first female physician in Italy, brought about revolutionary ideas in regards to
Early Childhood Education because of how she understood how complex and advanced young
minds were. Dr. Montessori had two main strands of ideas that overall led to her development in
the Montessori Method. This includes the writings of the Swiss educators, Jean Jacques Rousseau
and Johann Pestalozzi, who wrote about the need of hands on experiences and the Scottish
businessman, Robert Owen, who insisted that the social environment contributed to children s
knowledge (Bloom, 2004). Shortly after graduation, Dr. Montessori was placed into a psychiatric
clinic where she would visit with people living inside of an insane asylum. Inside of this asylum
she observed children living alongside their parents. The children were considered to be
feebleminded because they played with bread crumbs found on the floor. However, Montessori
came to the conclusion of, these

Speech About Fiestas
Fiestas are best in the Philippines because people has the sense unity and it reflects their beliefs.
Filipinos love fiestas. Here in our country, Philippines, we can witness different festivals in each
and every corner of our region. However, even Fiestas look as if our own, these have originally
come from Spaniards. When Spanish missionaries entered the Philippines during the mid 1500s,
they found that the fiesta was a convenient tool to help teach Filipinos the Roman Catholic faith.
That is why, in the Philippines and many other former Spanish colonies, the Spanish word fiesta is
used to denote a communal religious feast to honor a patron saint (Wikipedia, n.d). The Philippines
have adapted this and it is now part of our culture and tradition.... Show more content on

It sounds normal and there is nothing special about it anymore because even our ancestors
practiced this before. It is not also a problem because we are hospitable and we have the innate
ability to entertain our guests. The Bayanihan, on the other hand, happens especially when we
help each other cooking foods, setting places or organizing events there s unity between us.
These characteristics of ours prove our country s slogan It s more fun in the Philippines is
accurate, most especially in the eyes of foreign people. It is undeniably true that many tourists
enjoy to stay here and some of them actually visit our country intentionally just to witness the
colorful and unique fiestas we have. They surely do not regret their decision for choosing the
Philippines because their experience is guaranteed to be priceless and the best. There s a lot of
hanging colorful bunting anywhere, the loud noises from the live bands or karaokes set under the
tents, the laughs shared by everyone and the indefinite stories people talked, these things make us
feel the presence of the real fiesta and this is the quality which makes our country stands out among
other nations. While there are thousands of fiestas around the world, there is only one kind of
festival like ours. This is the perfect time to showcase our talents and promote the

Isabel Briggs Myers s Typology Personality Test
After finishing Carl Jung s and Isabel Briggs Myers typology personality test, I found out that my
personality type is Introverted Intuition with Extraverted Feeling (INFJ). INFJ, also known as the
Protector, are gentle, caring, complex and highly intuitive individuals. After reading about my
personality type, I found that I agree with most of the following results. I have taken a few
personality tests in the past and all of them have resulted in similar answers. Thus, when I read
through my results I was not surprised by most of the answers. On the other hand, while I was
reading through the results, I was surprised by INFJ being a rare personality type and only one
percent of the population have it. Another instance where I was surprised... Show more content on

Other than that, I found the following to be accurate on my personality. Granted, I think the
following results are useful to me because the personality test gives me options on a certain
career fields I could potentially consider for my personality type. The information will help me
in figuring out my future career because I am one of those people who has not figured out what
I want to do for the rest of my life. I think the results will help guide me into the right direction for
a career. Finally, after exploring the personality page links, I learned that I appear to seem like
an extrovert but I am an introvert. The following means that I am so well at connecting with
people that it seems like I am an extrovert. Also, I learned that I am strongly humanitarian in
outlook. I am not surprised by this because I have been told by others that I am an individual
who always tries to help make things better for not just a community but for others. Overall, I
found the personality test to be very informative and I am definitely going to pay close attention to

Bcg Matrix
What is BCG matrix?
The BCG matrix is a chart that had been created by Bruce Henderson for the Boston Consulting
Group in 1968 to help corporations with analyzing their business units or product lines. This helps
the company allocate resources and is used as an analytical tool in brand marketing, product
management, strategic management, and portfolio analysis. Analysis of market performance by
firms using its principles has called its usefulness into question, and it has been removed from some
major marketing textbooks.
Understanding the Matrix
BCG matrix means of analyzing the balance of an organization s product portfolio. According to
this matrix, two basic factors define a product s strategic stance in the market place:
1. Relative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most obvious difficulty is that strategy is defined purely in terms of two simple factors and
other issues are ignored. Further problems include:
в—Џ The definition of market growth What is high market growth and what is low?
Conventionally, this is often set above or below 5 per cent per annum, but there are no rules.
в—Џ The definition of the market It is not always clear how the market should be defined. It is
always possible to make a product dominate a market by defining the market narrowly enough. For
example, do we consider the entire European steel market, where Usinor would have a small share,
or do we take the French segment only, when the Usinor share would be much higher? This could
radically alter the conclusions.
в—Џ The definition of relative market share. What constitutes a high relative share and a low
share? Conventionally, the ratio is set at 1.5 (organization s product to share of market leader s
product) but why should this be so? Hence, although the BCG matrix has the merit of simplicity, it
has some significant weaknesses. As a result, other product portfolio approaches have been
developed.
.

SWOT analysis is the evaluation of available Information concerning the Business environment in
order to identify internal strengths and weaknesses, and external Threats and Opportunities.
SWOT analysis is also known as Situational analysis and, when applied to competitors, as

Living In The Trenches Diary Entry
This past couple months have been a very hard time for me. I can t say it enough about how
much I miss the United States. Living in the trenches have been one of the most hardest time in
my life. Seeing all the dead bodies and see and the helpless has made me think about how lucky I
am to be alive and writing this letter to you. A lot of my friends that I was talking to this
morning have been killed or wounded. I can no longer see them and talk with them. It is a
shame for all the people I know who have sadly gotten killed. These people stood up and fought
for their country. The weather here has also been a pain to deal with. Having all the rain be
collected into these trenches had made this war a lot more hard. When I first saw

Essay On Circuit Courts
The Supreme Court in Virginia reviews decisions of the circuit courts and the Court of Appeals
when such appeals have been allowed, decisions from the State Corporation Commission, and
certain disciplinary actions of the Virginia State Bar regarding attorneys ( Virginia Court System ,
2009). The Court of Appeals in Virginia, reviews decisions of the circuit courts in domestic
relations matters, traffic infractions and criminal cases, appeals from administrative agencies, and
decisions of the Virginia Workers Compensation Commission. ( Virginia Court System , 2009).
When comes to the Circuit Court in Virginia, the circuit court is the general jurisdiction trial court

Some of the direct consequences for these courts, is that sometimes the goal for certain cases don
t always come out how some people want it to come out. For instance, everybody may not agree
on the solution for a certain case a court came up with. Some of the indirect consequences for the
courts is that sometimes the cases have to go through certain levels of the courts system and it
takes a long process. The most important courts that should be the most consideration is the
Supreme Court and Courts of Appeals. These courts are also the most effectiveness. These two
conflicting attributes can best be balanced by the levels and how the handle certain cases. They are
both big courts because the Supreme Court is the first level and then the Court of Appeals is the
second level so the of them tie in together of handling big cases. All together the court system is
very important and goes into the criminal justice

Analysis Of Hank Morgan s A Connecticut Yankee
A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur s Court tells the story of a Connecticut Yankee, Hank
Morgan, being sent back in time to King Arthur s Court, in 528. During the story, Hank learns
much about himself and others. From his experiences, the novel as a whole tries to convey the idea
that Hank has much to learn from the medieval time period and its people, even though it might not
be transparent to him. During the story, Hank believes he is superior to those in King Arthurs Court.
He feels that his Yankee can do attitude, capitalist beliefs, technological advances and democratic
ideals put him a step above everyone in the medieval time. From his stubbornness to improve a
society that does not really need improvement, Hank blinds himself from learning human values
that would only be beneficial for himself and the Americans of his time. These positive aspects
of life include hospitality, trust, unity, and loyalty. As a result of Hank s efforts to change these
people, he eventually destroys their society, further proving the point that his way of life is not
the only way to live; as well as showing it is far from the best way to live. To begin with, Hank s
human nature and values are essentially based off of his circumstances. His time period is full of
new opportunities and possibilities. These opportunities include new jobs, better technology, and
new ways of thinking. These give the people a sense of optimism and a desire to want more. From
this desire, people want to go

beliefs, and having an entirely different way of thinking as compared to before. How would you

What Is Driving Under The Influence Of Drugs
Driving under the influence of drugs, whether licit or illicit, is a problem for road safety, quite
similar to driving under the influence of alcohol. The United States of America have a complex
corpus of drug laws and enforcement methods. The complementary legislative regimes of the
federal and state governments on illicit drugs overlap, however there are differences from state to
state. Drivers who use drugs also tend to be involved in a larger number of accidents that are far
more severe. A lot of traffic accidents, in relation to the usage of drugs amongst drivers, have more
serious consequences. Some of those accidents cause grave injuries to the driver and others
involved in traffic and some end tragically, in death. Drugs other than

The Life Of Lise Meitner
The Life of Lise Meitner
In the beginning of the life of one of the most significant female scientist to date, there was
obscurity. Born in Vienna, Austria on November 7th of 1878 during turmoil of war and
persecution that would seem to not cease throughout her life, she was bound to surpass her
limitations as a necessity to prosper the scientific status. Born the third child out of eight in a
Jewish family, she still was not one to go unnoticed or to be persuaded, as a strong minded
individual tends to be. At the time of her birth, her family was fairly wealthy, and though of Jewish
background, did not practice the religious beliefs of the Jewish heritage. This meant that although
she was Austrian in nationality, her ancestors practiced the Jewish way of life, yet it was not as
discernable in Meitner or her direct family. Her mother Hedwig Skovran, a musician, was not well
known but of enough skill to continue the occupation, while her father, Philipp Meitner, was a
lawyer and a master of chess. Her siblings, much like her parents, grew up to be detached from
the Jewish culture, which would lead them towards Christianity during a time of maltreatment of
those of Jewish features or religion. This change of religious beliefs would be reflected in
Meitner as well in 1908 at the age of thirty as she converted to the Lutheran church. This change of
religious practice would not make a difference after the rise of Hitler, which catalyzed the already
present disfavor towards the

Hate Crimes Against Gays Essay
In October of 1998, America finally became aware of how deadly discrimination can be. In
Laramie, Wyoming, 21 year old college student Matthew Shepard was brutally beaten by two
men and tied to a fence, left for dead. Matthew s murderers set out only to rob him, but ended up
beating him so severely that he never regained consciousness before he died. Why did this happen
in the first place? Simply because Matthew was gay. Matthew s death became a national symbol of
violence against homosexuals, prompting prayer vigils and calls for state and federally supported
hatecrime laws.
Today, America prides itself on being a tolerant country. Through laws and legislation, including
affirmative action, anti hate crime laws, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is true that some of the first cases of HIV and AIDS in America were found in gay males.
However, once the disease was more widely researched, it was discovered that people other than
gays could become infected with the virus, including children, women, and recipients of blood
transfusions. Promiscuity among homosexuals is no more common than among straight people (
Sexual Behaviors Text 2 ). While having multiple partners and sharing needles through drug use are
common causes of AIDS, these things are not exclusive to the gay community.
Many people also believe in a so called Gay Agenda. Among other things, gays are supposedly
trying to convert heterosexuals, especially young children, to the other side. Homosexuals are
allegedly attempting to spread their disease throughout America. The idea that homosexuals recruit
children is based falsely on the idea that a person s sexual orientation is a choice, not a natural state.
Children cannot be turned gay merely by contact with a member of the gay community ( About the
Religious Right ). According to the American Psychological Association, research suggests that the
homosexual orientation is in place very early in the life cycle, possibly even before birth. It is
found in about ten percent of the population, a figure which is surprisingly constant across cultures,
irrespective of the different moral values

The Banality Of Evil By Arendt Staub And Hannah Arendt
Over the years following the Holocaust, people like Ervin Staub and Hannah Arendt have shared
their different views on the idea of evil. Staub and Arendt both have very different ideas and
concepts. Arendt s concept, the banality of evil is a very controversial explanation, while Staub s
goes into more depth and his arguments on evilare more powerful. The causes of evil are
accessible; not ultimately mysterious and we now can predict genocide. Both people share their
explanations of National Socialist evil. According to Staub who wrote The Roots of Evil, the
essence of evil is the destruction of human beings because of who they are (pg25). One of Staub s
major claims discusses difficult life conditions, like economic problems and... Show more content

With intense difficult life conditions, they give rise to powerful motives and lead to ways of
fulfilling them, in which that group can go against a subgroup. They go against other weaker
groups, diminish that group and then join new strong groups, like Nazis under Hitler and his
ideology. People will do anything to satisfy their own interests (pg26). People will do whatever it
takes, even if it involves killing others. Eventually this will lead the society to change and have a
continuum of destruction that will end in genocide. In the end it is shown that difficult life
conditions and certain cultural characteristics allows a society to become vulnerable, which makes
it easy to be taken over. The societal political organization can have an authoritarian/totalitarian
system that involves mistreatment. Once again there is that concept that people follow and listen to
their new leader in hope for things, like life to get only better and they adopt a new ideology in
hope for a beneficial change. Nonetheless, the new leaders and their followers are rooted in the
culture, frequently a homogeneous one with a limited set of dominant values (pg33). There is a
great deal of obedience to authority with respect. Also, they join a group to be or feel connected
to others, like themselves. That plays a major role with the in group and out group, in which the in
group is powerful and the out group is inferior as well as being scapegoated. The out group is being
blamed,

A war over religion and world domination was rooted deeply in family ties, personal and
political conflicts. The conflict between these countries lasted forever to the eyes of the British
and Spanish people. In May 1555, King Philip met Elizabeth I for the first time when Elizabeth
was brought to Hampton court after her imprisonment in Woodstock. In 1559, after Mary I s
execution there was an absence in heir so Elizabeth was given the accession. Philip thought that
Elizabeth was the real criminal for having her sister executed however he offered her assistance in

army across the English Channel. But this plan soon crumbled after Philip became aware that his

Base on the Confession of Faith in The Book of Discipline, in article II We believe in Jesus
Christ, truly God and truly man, in whom the divine and human natures are perfectly and
inseparably united. He is the eternal Word made flesh, the only begotten Son of the Father, born
of the Virgin Mary by the power of the Holy Spirit. As ministering servant he lived, suffered and

The Potential for a Severe Food Shortage in the United States
A severe shortage of food in the United States could occur from many causes. Farms could stop
growing crops and breeding animals. Some sort of bacteria could sweep through the country
killing different food plants. The more important part of the shortage of food however would not
be the causes, but the effects. The stance of the country s economy, the well being of middle and
lower class families, and the quality of stores that used to sell the products would all decline greatly
if an event as severe as an extreme shortage of foodwere to occur. General stores generate a large
profit from the sale of food. Some stores like Whole Foods and King Soopers do not sell much
besides food products. If there were to be a severe shortage of food, stores like Whole Foods,
Walmart, Costco, and King Soopers would take a severe hit in terms of income and the ability
to compete with other stores. Places like these would not be able to keep up financially if there
were a lack of people buying their food products. There are other non food products that these
stores may sell, but these other products would not be able to sell due to the fact that people
would be focusing more on ways to get food rather than buying a new T.V. or a new pair of shoes.
Families in cities rely on general stores and health food stores to obtain food products. A severe
shortage of food throughout the country would raise potentially difficult questions for families.
Where are they going to get food now that stores

ABSTRACT:
Cigarette smoking in pregnancy is a universal problem that compels us to continuously explore
different strategies aimed at increasing high quit rates in this population group. Maternal smoking
during pregnancy has been linked to increased risk of obstetric and foetal adverse outcomes.
Barriers to quitting are multi factorial and the approach needs to be versatile and patient specific,
taking into consideration the dynamics of ethnicity, psychosocial and socioeconomic status.
The aim of this paper is to highlight the different strategies that have been evaluated looking at
ways of enabling pregnant women to quit smoking. Furthermore, smoking cessation in special
population groups and global initiatives on smoking regulations are discussed. A database search of
Ovid Medline, Pubmed, Embase and The Cochrane Library was undertaken to identify

DTCA Sales Promotion
Synapsis
Direct to consumer advertising of prescription medicines (DTCA) can be defined as an effort
(usually via popular media) made by a pharmaceutical company to promote its prescription
products directly to patients.[1] DTCA is prohibited in Canada, under two provisions in Food and
Drugs Act, which is enforced by Health Canada. Despite this prohibition, Health Canada currently
allows two forms of advertising that mention either the product (reminder ads) or the indication
(help seeking ads), but not both.[1,2] The United States and New Zealand are the only countries
where direct to consumer advertising, including full product claim ads, is legal.[1,2] The $395
billion US pharmaceutical industry spent $5.2 billion on DTCA in 2015.[3]

According to an Apr. 2013 survey, 68% of doctors agree that prescription drugs are marketed
before safety profiles can be known.[3] In response to the Vioxx recall from the market in 2004, it
was proposed to institute a mandatory waiting period for new drugs before DTCA is being
permitted. The Institute of Medicine (IOM) recommended a two year advertising moratorium to
conduct adequate post marketing safety surveillance.[1] The same approach could be adopted as a
policy in Canada, to ensure patient safety, while promoting consumer empowerment by enabling
them to participate in informed decisions about their health care with their doctors.
Option 3: Mandatory Pre clearance of Drug Advertising by Health Canada
Drug advertisements should be reviewed and pre cleared by Health Canada in accordance with
their mandates. They have to contain a fair balance of information be provided to consumers,[4]
and require the disclosure of risks that are common and significant, as well as those that are rare
but serious (for example, paralysis or death). Health Canada could impose a fee for this service to
be paid by the pharmaceutical companies.

Vonnegut s Dichotomy
Predestination In Slaughter House Five by Kurt Vonnegut, a major dichotomy is Free Will vs.
Fate. This was first pointed out on November 5 when Sam W. said, There is predestination on
Tralfamadore, but there is free will on Earth. A small debate began to take place with Jason
saying, Free will does exist. I do not think destiny will control my path. Nothing controls my
destiny; I can write my own destiny . Carter argued saying, Free willis an illusion. Broadly, there
are two perspectives on this dichotomy. I will explore the position Vonnegut and Billy take in this
dichotomy and the effects of predestination on humans and anti war novels. Fate is a concept that
is believed by the Tralfamadorians. It is a term to describe time being... Show more content on

The house where Billy had grown up used to be somewhere in what was so empty now. This was
urban renewal. That was all right with Billy Pilgrim (59). Billy becomes detached to unreactive to

The Biotechnology Innovation Organization defines the biotech industry as, technology based on
biology biotechnology harnesses cellular and bio molecular processes to develop technologies and
products that help improve our lives and the health of our planet. This Vital sector of the free
market is comprised of many great companies. The five choices that I have selected are, in my
opinion, the best choices to represent the biotechnologyindustry. My first choice was AbbVie Inc.,
or (ABBV), and on the date of purchase their stock was trading at $64.08 per share. On the date
of purchasing their stock I bought 312 shares equaling a total of $19,992.96. This company is
known for discovering, developing, and marketing both biopharmaceuticals and small molecule
drugs. One drug that is known as the world s best selling anti inflammatory medicine is Humira,
which was made by AbbVie. Drugs like Humira and Vicodin have proved to be household names.
I chose AbbVie incorporated because their drugs are some of the best on the market and cater to
the needs of the masses. The second company I selected was AmgenInc., or (AMGN), and on the
date of purchasing their stock it cost $172.04. I bought 116 shares resulting in a total of $19,956.64.

My Life In College
Life is a winding road that goes through mountains and over water, but also through mud, ice, and
snow. What I mean by that is that life is something very short, filled with beautiful moments as
well as dark and disturbing ones (well, if we are being technical, life is the longest thing any of us
will experience). One moment that nobody can seem to decide which category it belongs in, is
college. College for some people can be this once in a lifetime experience that creates friendship,
memories, and everlasting knowledge. While for others it is absolute misery and stress.
Regardless of all of that, college is an incredibly tough decision that comes down to intelligence,
money, and future careers. All of which are choices of which many people fear to make in life.
Bowling Green and Findlay Universityboth seem to be very sound and reasonable choices;
however, Bowling Green looks to be the better choicedue to costs and their business programs. As
for Bowling Green, which is my first choice, was actually the second college I had visited. It had
a massive campus, well, at least compared to what I expected. It had hundreds of dorms and
plenty of faculty to go around for the students. Needless to say that during that first visit, I was
blown away and beyond impressed with everything I saw. So after looking more into it, there are
definitely a lot of different reasons that I was even more inclined to go there. The first thing I
looked at was the tuition, which was a surprising

Taking a Look at India s Geography
Did you know that India is the second most populated country in the world with over 1.2 billion
people? This heavily populated country s history and culture was, and still is, affected by its
geography. For example, The Ganges River provided some irrigation, but was mostly known for its
religious significance in the Hindu faith. The Indus Riverprovided fertile land for the Indus Valley
civilization and allowed agriculture to flourish, but also flooded, which was part of the
civilization s economical weakening. Another factor that which brought the fall of the
civilization was the Hindu Kush Mountain Range; although it provided some protection, paths
were discovered by invaders that permitted them to cross over and quell. The Ganges River, a
wide and slow paced river, starting from the mountain tops, then through the Gangetic Plain, and
finally empties into the Bay of Bengal ( Ganges River ). The fertile Gangetic Plain was where
settlements and developing cities during prehistoric times because it was stable agriculturally (
Geography ). Despite the fact that the Ganges brought great fertility, it is also known as the most
holy and sacramental river in the Hindu religion. The river is personified as a goddess, Ganga,
who was sent from heaven to purify cursed and sinful souls; she was caught in the snowy
Himalayan peaks of Shiva s hair , then escapes by flowing down the mountain into the sea and
finally purified more than 60,000 souls (Watts). Due to this myth, people

Beneatha Younger And Walter Lee Character Analysis
In the play, A Raisin in the Sun, Lorraine Hansberry presents various characters with different
personalities. Two key characters, Beneatha Younger and Walter Lee Younger, each have a
different goal that they hope to achieve through the same means. Walter Lee wants to invest his
mother s money into a liquor store and ultimately be able to provide for his family, while
Beneatha hopes to spend her money on medical school to become a doctor, so that she can prove
that women are capable of the same achievements as men. The question remains, which goal is
more noble? Although each is honorable in its own way, we can determine through biblical support
that Walter Lee s goal is more noble. In the beginning of the story, the audience s first impression...

They disagree on virtually everything and her personality is more reputation centered. Beneatha
seems to be more moralistic and principled than Walter Lee, but this does not make her more
likeable of a character. She is more pessimistic than Walter Lee, and is selfish in her own way.
She wants to go to medical school to become a doctor, first, because she seems to have an
emotional connection to the idea of fixing a person s life, but also to prove that women,
particularly African American women, can accomplish the same things that men can
accomplish. In act three, at the end of the play, Beneatha describes to Asagai a childhood
memory of the time one of her friends getting badly injured. She says: One day a kid named
Rufus came down too fast and hit the sidewalk and we saw his face just split open right there in
front of us ... And I remember standing there looking at his bloody open face thinking that was the
end of Rufus. But the ambulance came and they took him to the hospital and they fixed the broken
bones and they sewed it all up ... I never got over that ... that that was what one person could do for

Napoleon s Position As The Leader Of France
The French Revolution marked a significant shift in the status of not only France but also Europe
and the world as an entirety. In a period of uproar and uncertainty, the people of France saw
themselves without a specific leader to alter the status of the country. By taking full control of
almost every aspect of the country, Napoleon Bonaparte s position as the leader of France saw
significant changes in the army, economic and social positions of the once powerful nation. In his
rapid rise to power in the 19th century, he influenced the world momentously. On August 15, 1769,
Napoleon Bonaparte was born in Corsica to an unwealthy lawyer, Carlo Buonaparte and his wife,

His second wife was the daughter of the emperor of Austria, Marie Louise. She gave birth to
their son who became known as Napoleon II and was given the title King of Rome. Besides his

he saw immediate success. France had been involved in several military conflicts with different
European nations, so in 1796, Napoleon and his French army went out and defeated Austria s
army. Austria was one of France s main adversaries at the time, so the victory was a huge
triumph for Napoleon and France. The Treaty of Campo Formio was soon signed by the French

the rest of Europe. The governing power of France at the time was made of 5 people and called
the Directory. The Directory offered Napoleon a mission to attack England, but Napoleon

Lee was in the lowest point of his comic book career and was about to change careers. He decided
to give it one last go by writing two different superhero stories: The Fantastic Four and The

Fantastic Four being a family turned superhero team and Spider Man being the first teen
superhero that was not a sidekick. Spider Man put a grand effect on people as it put a realistic
high school student struggling with the loss of his parental figure. The origin of Spider Man is
shown in Amazing Fantasy #15. Peter Parker was a hard working honor student constantly
rejected being seen as a nerd. One day, however, Peter is bitten by a radioactive spider that
somehow grants Peter the proportionate speed, strength and agility of a spider (Marvel
Masterworks: The Amazing Spider Man). After finding these powers, Peter later exploits them
for himself as a wrestler winning money nightly. One night, a thief is running from a cop with
Peter in front of him. Instead of stopping the thief, Peter arrogantly lets the thief go and tells the
cop, Sorry, pal! That s your job!... From now on I just look out for number one that means me!

he had let escape would kill his Uncle Ben. After he hands the thief to the police as Spider Man,

The movie s portrayal of scientists makes human manners towards the Na vi look bad because
some of the humans did not care about the Na vi. The military and the big corporation would kill

Why Is It Important To Keep Summer Break
Do you remember how excited you used to get for summer break? Now imagine not having a
break at all, having to continuously learn new subjects all year long. Exhausting isn t it? There
are some schools where there would be a 3 4 week break in the summer, but the winter break is
longer than ours. Personally, I believe that we should keep our summerbreak the way it is because:
both students and teachers deserve a break from school, constantly having new information drilled
into your head all year long is bound to put stress on anyone, and there are countless students who
depend on summer break to work and/or travel.
First off, students and teachers would not be able to stand each other by the end of the year. If
the county had all year round school, we would all start resenting each other because of all the
time we would be forced to spend together. Also, I know a couple of teachers who gave up one
job for being a teacher because of summer break. They have time to travel and do whatever they
want in the summer instead of being stuck in a building with teenagers all day. Plus, teachers also
deserve a break from grading papers and talking until their voice is gone to kids who are probably
not even listening. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Racism About Racism
To be honest, I ve only experienced blatant racism once in my life. I was in 7th grade, and I was
getting up to put my food away because my class was leaving. Suddenly, a foot came out of
nowhere and two seconds later, I found myself on the floor with my uneaten school food all over
the ground and me while being called a terrorist by a Caucasian. It wasn t a big ruckus, only both
of our classes saw what happened but it was still terrifying. My friendswere about 8 feet away in
shock, and not a single soul helped me not that I expected it. I was a pretty emotionally strong
and carefree kid. Humans didn t scare me. If you poked me once I would just forgive you and
move on with my little life. To this day, I don t consider that a mortifying experience, I am
completely fine. The boy that called me a terrorist was held back the next year so karma came
and did my job for me. What did bother me, however, were the little, almost unnoticed glimpses
of racism that would happen to me which was completely shrouded away because teenagers were
just expected to be rude people so it was acceptable. It was the small things that hurt me the most,
and even though the greater portion of America believes that racism has been conquered, I don t
believe so. But as bad as these instances of racism hurt me, it s what made my mindstrong and
taught me to be happy. An example of what bothered me would be when I would walk into a class

Freeze And Thaw In Concrete
The Effects of Freeze and Thaw in Concrete
Most people think concrete is an impenetrable solid. But in actually, concrete is a porous material
with many capillaries and voids throughout the surface. Although concrete is strong in compressive
strength, it is weak in tensile stength and elasticity. Concrete can tolerate heavy loads, but it is
susceptible to damage which causes it to break apart over time.
One damaging effect is freezing water. When water melts, it absorbs into the pores and capillaries.
As the water freezes and expands, it weakens the strength of the concrete. This causes concrete
scaling, delamination, and cracking.
The freeze and thaw cycle isn t restricted to just northern climates. It also occurs in warmer climates
where the temperature drops below freezing at night, and rises above freezing during the day.
Sometimes deicing chemicals are applied to the surface to temporary lower the melting point of ice

This will help prevent water absorption as well as expansion.
Another popular solution is replacing the soil with more porous alternatives, such as sand and
gravel. To divert water away from the foundation, you can also dig a subterranean reservoir on the
property.
How the Freeze and Thaw Cycle Damages Foundations
Since the freeze and thaw cycle damages concrete surfaces, it can also cause shifts and cracks
beneath the home s foundation. Soil within a high water table are particularly problematic since
they have poor drainage around the property.
Although you can t prevent the freeze and thaw cycle, you can protect your foundation. At MFS

Though all schools of thought have a common goal to increase and develop the economy, their
views differentiate on who it should benefit. Economic neoliberalism focuses on economic freedom
to benefit the individual and limit the amount of power that states can hold. They support market
based systems because of the limited government regulation. Market based systems are created to
meet the need of the people and consumers, rather than producing solely for the purpose of
increased government power and control.
The global shift towards market based economic systems has undoubtedly promoted globalization.
The change towards market based systems has four primary components. This includes the transfer
of state owned enterprises, division of previous state owned monopolies, deregulation of markets,
and the creation of a lawful system that supports private enterprise, as well as protects property.
Furthermore, market economies are more likely to participate foreign investments and take part in

Analysis Of Sherman Alexie s Lone Ranger And Tonto...
In all mediums of storytelling alike, there is always the question of if the author is being truthful
about the information they are giving. This includes the lessons told through the story of morality
in fiction, historical fiction, or anything related to such topics. Consequently, most books read in
popular culture have a lesson; novels are a form of education. An example of this has been shown
through Sherman Alexie s Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven. In this novel, he attempts to

However, all of the stories listed with moral lessons are for children. That brings a question; do
adult and young adult novels all have similar lessons to be taught?
Many novels, like 1984 by George Orwell as well as Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven
by Sherman Alexie, focus on the time frame and culture the novel was written in. 1984 is a book
that focuses on a dystopian society in Oceana. Big Brother controls every citizens thoughts,
actions, memories, etc., in order to achieve a perfect dictatorial society. Though it was written in
1944, during World War II, where the dictatorship of Stalin (who Big Brother was based off of)
was prevalent, it is still read to this very day. Most would argue that it is read simply for the
classical aesthetic purpose, but while that still may be true, it is still read due to the fact that
society has not learned the lessons taught in the novel. In the month of January, 1984 shot to No.

signs of a dictatorship. These two topics are prevalent in today s society and political culture,

The Great Gossip Girl
A young man desperately battling society, wealth, and rich obnoxious friends in order to win the
heart of the perfect girl...is this the story of The Great Gatsby, or the CW s Gossip Girl? Both,
actually: the hit TV show mirrors Fitzgerald s most famous work through parallel themes and
characters. Cynical subjects such as doomed love and corruption of the upper class play a major
part in both works, as well as the story of fight to surmount class and poverty. This story actually
played out a couple of times over the course of Gossip Girl s intensely dramatic six seasons, but
most notably between Dan Humphrey and Serena Van Der Woodsen. Dan Humphrey was the

and sister in Brooklyn, but always dreamed about something greater. When Nick finally told the
reader Gatsby s true origin story, he said, he invented just the sort of Jay Gatsby that a seventeen
year old boy would be likely to invent, and to this conception he was faithful to the end (p.104).
Dan and Gatsby both had an idealized, or Platonic, view of themselves and the way their lives
would turn out, and they would stop at nothing to get it. Dan created and used Gossip Girl as a
way to get into Serena s world just Gatsby used Nick to get Daisy back. Both men saw their

Omaha Beach Attack
When you think of Omaha Beach, what comes to mind? The soldiers clashing on the beach. Or
maybe a relative s story of how they dodged the oncoming bullets. Perhaps the boats taking
soldiers across the channel. What comes to my mind is the bravery of the soldiers under fire. If
you think that s interesting, then stick around. I ll give you an in depth look at what happened at
Omaha Beachon that fateful day.
Omaha beach was the biggest D Day invasion site at six miles wide. It the second most western
beach, with Utah Beach being farthest to the west. The attack began on June 6, 1944. (Drez)
Omaha Beach saw the fiercest fighting. It had a 12 foot tall sea wall. (Williams) There were also
large cliffs separating the beach from the nearby towns. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All the soldier that were supposed to arrive at Fox Green landed farther to the east. But troops
from Companies E and F were pushed by the current from Easy Red, and they took the place of
the 16th Regiment troops that were pushed to the east. The downside was that they came in
under heavy fire and had almost no cover, mainly because of the lack of a seawall on that section
of the beach. Easy Red was the largest section of Omaha Beach. Over 50% of this section was in
between two of the German strong points. The Engineers of the 37th and 149th Engineer
Combat Battalions gave it their all trying to make a path through the German defenses in the
water. While this was happening, Company E of the 116th was trying to flank the strong point
that was farther to the west. They had help from two of the navy destroyers, and a few other
destroyers helped provide cover for the troops being landed, one of them being the USS
Frankford. The 18th Regiment of the 1st Division was landed around 09:30 hours. They only lost
28 landing boats when the troops were being landed, and they managed to land with better success
than the 16th did. They helped to secure the Valley that was near the strong point that Company E
had secured earlier. That valley later became the main way to the towns surrounding Omaha Beach.

Loneliness And Isolation In The Painted Door By Sinclair Ross
The feeling of not belonging, of being unwanted, or being judge is a very common thing that
occurs too many individuals. The feelings of isolation and alienation can be frustrating,
dangerous and eventually push a character to it their extremes. In the short story The Painted
Door by Sinclair Ross, the main character Ann feels alone and isolated for many reasons. From
the beginning of the story the theme of loneliness and alienation occurs almost immediately.
Ann is not pleased with her life, she feels not only isolation emotionally but physically. She and
her husband John live in the middle of nowhere, far away from company and populated
settlements. The remote surrounding in which they live creates a feeling of extreme isolation,
especially after previously living in a city, Even the distant farmsteads she could see served only to
intensify a sense of isolation( Ross 9). John is a simple farmer who thinks the only way he can
please and show his love to his wife, Ann, is by working all day to earn... Show more content on

John does not pay enough attention to Ann, and therefore creates a weak relationship, I know. It s
just that sometimes when you re away I get lonely (Ross 14). The lack of communication
between Ann and John, and not expressing their feelings to one another is the main reason that
Ann feels this emptiness inside her, and in a way alienate herself as well as John alienates her.
This causes for Ann to sleep with Steven, and John witnessing what happen between with Ann and
Steve, which ends with John dieing in the storm that was occurring outside .During the short story
the reader clearly sees that Ann feels abandoned by John, She began to think about it now.
Thoughts that outstripped her words, that left her alone again with herself and the ever lurking
silence (Ross 30). and as the reader I can connect to the character. I remember when I first got here
from Mexico. I was five years old, and I was barely beginning

Psalm 95 Analysis
Over the past several weeks in class, we have been looking at different psalms, and learning how to
interpret what the psalms mean. We ve explored what the psalms say about God, people, and the
relationship between the two. We ve also explored the different functions contained in the psalms,
and identified the expressions of emotions contained in the various psalms. In this week s reflective
paper, I will be reflecting on Psalms 95 and 100. I will discuss the type and genre used in each
psalm, the structure of the psalm, the type parallelisms being used, the figures of speech, and the
main ideal displayed in each psalm.
Lets begin with psalm 95. Psalm 95 is considered a descriptive praise psalm. The main ideal of this
psalm is a call to worship ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This psalm is also a descriptive praise psalm. The genre is thanksgiving. (Kidner, 2008, p. 388).
A song of thankful praise brings this group of homage psalms up to an unclouded summit after
alternations of exuberance and awe I would structure this psalm with verses 1 2 being a call to
praise, verse 3 being the cause of praise, verse 4 being another call to praise, and lastly verse 5
being a cause to praise. In Psalm 95:3 know that the Lord himself is God; It is he who has made
us, and not we ourselves; We are his people and the sheep of his pasture. There is a metaphor
being used with we are the sheep of his pasture. There is synonymous parallelism is verses 2,
serve the Lord with gladness; Come before him with joyful singing. Enter his gates is synonymous
with his courts and with thanksgiving and with praise is also synonymous in psalm 95:4. Lastly in
psalm 95:5 there is more examples of synonymous parallelism with his lovingkindness and his
faithfulness, and is everlasting to all generations. If the psalm began by broadening our horizon, it
ends by lengthening our view and expectations (Kidner, 2008, p.

Benefits Of Deferred Action For Childhood Arrivals
DACA Repeal: President Barack Obama once said, My fellow Americans, we are and always will
be a nation of immigrants. We were strangers once, too ( Immigrant Quotes ). The United States is a
nation of immigrants. However, immigrants, especially those who are undocumented, face intense
prejudice and discrimination. In recent times, the legal rights of young undocumented immigrants
have been compromised due to the repeal of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. Furthermore,
the state of the country is likely to suffer at the hands of the repeal which will have rippling
negative results. The reluctance of the United Statesgovernment to replace the Deferred Action for
Childhood Arrivals policy, may unjustifiably punish undocumented immigrants and limit economic
success for the country.
Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, more commonly known as DACA, is a program that
was enacted by the Obama Administration in 2012 (Cullinane et al.). DACA provides certain
rights to young people, known as Dreamers, who were brought to America illegally by their
parents. The rights of DACA recipients include deprioritization for removal, deferred action, and
employment authorization (Bier). In order to be eligible for DACA, young undocumented
immigrants must have lived in the U.S. since 15 June 2007, arrived in the U.S. before the age of
sixteen, have no criminal records, and be enrolled in high school or college; or serve in the military
( DACA Information ). The DACA policy was

Iron Curtain Research Paper
The Iron Curtain was the name for this boundary that divided Europe into two separate areas
which lasted from 1945 until the end of the Cold War in 1991. The Iron Curtain ended open contact
with the rest of Europe and the West and defined the Cold War.
In addition to the ongoing confrontations in Europe, there were also other hostilities in which the
United States and the Soviet Union found themselves on opposite sides. From 1945 to 1949 there
were several confrontations in Asia. Chinese Communists defeated the Kuomintang in a civil war,
and then China negotiated a 10 year treaty of alliance and aid with the Soviets. The United States
opposed this. Then the United States occupied southern Korea at the end of World War II and the
Soviets responded by occupying northern Korea. Shortly after the Korean War ended, the
communists in Viet Nam (Viet Minh) announced their independence from France. This led to war
with France which later turned into the Vietnam War; again the United States and the Soviet Union
were on opposite sides. As if these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Perestroika was important in ending the cold war. It was an economic reform in the U.S.S.R.

dismantling the police state that was central to the Soviet Union s control and dramatically
reducing their military commitments outside of its borders. In 1989, during the time of glasnost,
the Berlin Wall was torn down by protesters. This wall had divided Germany into 2 parts (free

Essay on Characteristics of Dolphins
Characteristics of Dolphins
The majority of small tooth whales are called dolphins. Dolphins are mammals of the order
Cetacean and the families Plantanistidae and Delphinidae and include about 50 species (Internet 1).
Most dolphin species are about 6 feet in length, the males averaging 4 to 8 inches longer than
females. The longest dolphin, the bottle nose dolphin, can reach over nine feet in length and weight
up to 440 pounds. The smallest dolphin species is the buffalo which is found in the Amazon
River. The Buffalo dolphin rarely grows over 3.9 feet or weighs more than 66 pounds. A dolphin s

A dolphin s normal cruising speed is about 23 to 25 mph, and if they are bow riding, they have
been known to get up to 30mph. Because dolphins are mammals (warm blooded) their internal
temperature is between 97.9o to 99of. They normally come to the surface to breathe about every
two minutes. Each breath consists of a short, almost explosive exhalation, followed by a slightly
longer inhalation. Dolphins can hold their breath for up to several minutes and are capable of rapid
and deep dives of more then 1,000 ft. Dolphins once were hunted commercially, for the small
quantity of valuable oil extracted from parts of the head and used to lubricated delicate watch
mechanisms. Since cheaper oils have now been found from other sources, dolphins are no longer
hunted for this reason. Many dolphins, however, become accidentally trapped and drowned in tuna
nets. Between the years 1959 and 1972 an estimated 4.8 million dolphins died this way
(www.thedolphinplace.com/facts.html). Because of the pressure from animal rights activists and
United States consumers, both domestic and international tuna canners have refused to accept
shipments from fishing fleets that do not protect dolphins. The Marine Mammal Protection Act of
1972, amended in 1988 and 1992, was passed to prevent

Change is the law of Nature:
Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change
anything. George Bernard Shaw. Let us change our mind and be ready to make changes for the
future generation. The trends in technology are growing rapidly. We should set our mind to adopt
those changes.
Only when we are ready to accept changes, we could develop the interest in knowing things. Being
a teacher it is always essential to get updated with subject and technology. So that the expectation of
21st century generation will be fulfilled.
Children observe many new inventions and growth of technology in which they live with. So their
expectation in knowing things would be different. Along with the methods which we had learnt in
B.Ed. courses such as Lecture method, Demonstration method, Trial and Error method,
Experimental method, we should also discover many new approaches to enrich the mind of the
young generation through technology.

American Society During The 1940 S
American society in the 1940 s was racially segregated. Public facilities including buses, theaters,
and railroad stations excluded black patrons. Among many other parts of American life, baseball,
like most professional sports, was equally discriminatory against African Americans. The major
league teams only signed white players and denied black men the opportunity to play
professionally. Black players were restricted to their own Negro Leagues. Until one day in 1946,
when Branch Rickey, an innovative Major League Baseball(MLB) executive, chose a black man
named Jackie Robinsonto become the first African American man to play professional baseball.
Jackie broke the color barrier in the world of sports and became the most historically significant
baseball player ever.
The movie 42, released on April 12, 2013, depicts the life of Jackie Robinson and his endurance
of racial discrimination. It is written and directed by Brian Helgeland and produced by Thomas
Tull. The movie is distributed by Warner Brothers Pictures and is 128 minutes long. The main
stars in the movie were Chadwick Boseman, who played Jackie Robinson, and Harrison Ford,
who played the Brooklyn Dodgers executive, Branch Rickey. Other supporting roles included
Nicole Beharie as Jackie s wife, Rachel, and Andre Holland as Wendell Smith, a reporter and
Jackie s supporter. Other actors include Christopher Meloni, Lucas Black, Ryan Merriman, Hamish

(Barbara Jo Brothers, 1991, pg 21 23) 3) Virginia Satir on Self Esteem and Human Validation
Virginia Satir defines self esteem as: a culmination of identity development within a nurturing
and validating enviorment. She believed that feelings of worth can only flourish in an
atmosphare where the individual differences are appreciated, mistakes are tolerated,
communication is open and rules are flexible. This she would define as the kind of atmosphare
that is found in a nurturing family. Self esteem thrives in a nurturing enviorment. We will know
and believe that we are loveable if, and only if, we are loved and nurtured by our parents. In
order for children to have a high sense of esteem, parents need to provide validation of their child
s growing abilities and acomplishments. They must validate their child s sexuality, individuality
and care and respect. According to Virginia Satir individuals that received adequate love and
validation, will be people who know that they are lovable, know how to take care of themselves
physically and emotionally, are comfortable with intimacy, and are able to get along well in
society. In other words these people posess self esteem. (Barbara Jo Brothers, 1991, pg 142 144)

Social Issues of Refugees
Since the United States declared independence from Great Britain in 1776, there has been
numerous amount of legislation passed to increase the difficulty of gaining citizenship for

The mentality of those years has not left the United States, for in the 1980 s, Senator Alan

may well create in America the same social, political, and economic problems that exist in the
countries in which they have chosen to depart (Gomberg MuГ±oz, 2017; Gould, 1981). This
quote from Simpson was followed by the passing of the Immigration Reform and Control Act
(IRCA) in 1986 and the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigration Responsibility Act
(IIRAIRA) in 1996, focusing on the removal and changing of status of lawful immigrants to lower
the immigration status in the United States led by of fear of multiculturalism and criminality.
With politicians publically advocating racial ideologies and falsehoods towards immigrants, it
disassociates U.S. citizens from the fact that the passage of some immigrants is due to fleeing
countries that the UN declares state of emergency on. Refugees and asylum seekers are based on
those Who can demonstrate a well rounded fear of persecution because of their race, membership

  • 2. Gretchen Am Spinnrade Gretchen Am Spinnrade Franz Schubert composed the German Lieder, Gretchen Am Spinnrade, in 1814. This composition is one of Schubert s pinnacle compositions, which introduced the world to the idea of the Romantic Lied, veering away from the already existing Classical Lied. Observing the form, rhythmic structure, key modulations and dynamics with relation to the text, Schubert paints a beautiful emotional drama for the listener allowing them to dive into the thoughts and emotions the woman, Gretchen, is experiencing while longing for her lover, Faust. Gretchen Am Spinnrade is a modified strophic composition in a seven part rondo form ABACADA. The A sections could be interpreted as the reality that Gretchen is faced with, and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Shifting our focus back to the key modulations, the A section returns once we reach m 73. The D section begins in m 85 just as it did in the C section with a dominant 7th chord preceded by its key modulation, so Bb major 7 to Eb major to C major 7 to F major to D major 7 to g minor to E major 7 to A major in mm 85 92. The A section finally makes a return yet again in m 114 to finish off the piece in d minor. Dynamics play a critical role in this lied to help bring across even more meaning within the lyrics. Looking at the beginning A section, it utilizes a crescendo from the beginning pianissimo in m 6, which then decrescendos with each word repeat I ll find it, never more and completely decrescendos by m 11. The B section, which starts at m 13, raises the volume to mezzo forte by m18 even though the wording describes a silent grave , as if she s begging to break free of this silent grave that she claims to be trapped in. Then, in m22 there is a crescendo with and my poor head and in m27 by thoughts of him . This leads into a decrescendo in m 28 when describing who has my heart . The return of the A section in m 31 uses a bit different dynamics. This time, rather than having a decrescendo in I ll find it, I ll find it never, never more a crescendo is utilized on both I ll find it expressions. Forte is then ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Contribution Of The Montessori Method Maria Montessori once stated, The greatest sign of success for a teacher is to be able to say, The children are now working as if I did not exist (Chattin McNichols, 1992). The end goal of a Montessori classroom is to create independent and curious learners ready to take on any challenge thrown their way. The Montessori Methoddiffers from traditional school settings because learning is child centered, meaning children create their own knowledge from experiences within a prepared environment. Who were the leaders? Maria Montessori, the first female physician in Italy, brought about revolutionary ideas in regards to Early Childhood Education because of how she understood how complex and advanced young minds were. Dr. Montessori had two main strands of ideas that overall led to her development in the Montessori Method. This includes the writings of the Swiss educators, Jean Jacques Rousseau and Johann Pestalozzi, who wrote about the need of hands on experiences and the Scottish businessman, Robert Owen, who insisted that the social environment contributed to children s knowledge (Bloom, 2004). Shortly after graduation, Dr. Montessori was placed into a psychiatric clinic where she would visit with people living inside of an insane asylum. Inside of this asylum she observed children living alongside their parents. The children were considered to be feebleminded because they played with bread crumbs found on the floor. However, Montessori came to the conclusion of, these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Here in our country, Philippines, we can witness different festivals in each and every corner of our region. However, even Fiestas look as if our own, these have originally come from Spaniards. When Spanish missionaries entered the Philippines during the mid 1500s, they found that the fiesta was a convenient tool to help teach Filipinos the Roman Catholic faith. That is why, in the Philippines and many other former Spanish colonies, the Spanish word fiesta is used to denote a communal religious feast to honor a patron saint (Wikipedia, n.d). The Philippines have adapted this and it is now part of our culture and tradition.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It sounds normal and there is nothing special about it anymore because even our ancestors practiced this before. These characteristics of ours prove our country s slogan It s more fun in the Philippines is accurate, most especially in the eyes of foreign people. It is undeniably true that many tourists enjoy to stay here and some of them actually visit our country intentionally just to witness the colorful and unique fiestas we have. They surely do not regret their decision for choosing the Philippines because their experience is guaranteed to be priceless and the best. There s a lot of hanging colorful bunting anywhere, the loud noises from the live bands or karaokes set under the tents, the laughs shared by everyone and the indefinite stories people talked, these things make us feel the presence of the real fiesta and this is the quality which makes our country stands out among other nations. • 6. Bcg Matrix What is BCG matrix? The BCG matrix is a chart that had been created by Bruce Henderson for the Boston Consulting Group in 1968 to help corporations with analyzing their business units or product lines. This helps the company allocate resources and is used as an analytical tool in brand marketing, product management, strategic management, and portfolio analysis. Analysis of market performance by firms using its principles has called its usefulness into question, and it has been removed from some major marketing textbooks. Understanding the Matrix BCG matrix means of analyzing the balance of an organization s product portfolio. According to this matrix, two basic factors define a product s strategic stance in the market place: 1. Relative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most obvious difficulty is that strategy is defined purely in terms of two simple factors and other issues are ignored. Further problems include: в—Џ The definition of market growth What is high market growth and what is low? Conventionally, this is often set above or below 5 per cent per annum, but there are no rules. в—Џ The definition of the market It is not always clear how the market should be defined. It is always possible to make a product dominate a market by defining the market narrowly enough. For example, do we consider the entire European steel market, where Usinor would have a small share, or do we take the French segment only, when the Usinor share would be much higher? This could radically alter the conclusions. в—Џ The definition of relative market share. What constitutes a high relative share and a low share? Conventionally, the ratio is set at 1.5 (organization s product to share of market leader s product) but why should this be so? Hence, although the BCG matrix has the merit of simplicity, it has some significant weaknesses. As a result, other product portfolio approaches have been developed. . Living in the trenches have been one of the most hardest time in my life. Seeing all the dead bodies and see and the helpless has made me think about how lucky I am to be alive and writing this letter to you. A lot of my friends that I was talking to this morning have been killed or wounded. I can no longer see them and talk with them. It is a shame for all the people I know who have sadly gotten killed. From his experiences, the novel as a whole tries to convey the idea that Hank has much to learn from the medieval time period and its people, even though it might not be transparent to him. From his stubbornness to improve a society that does not really need improvement, Hank blinds himself from learning human values that would only be beneficial for himself and the Americans of his time. These positive aspects of life include hospitality, trust, unity, and loyalty. As a result of Hank s efforts to change these people, he eventually destroys their society, further proving the point that his way of life is not the only way to live; as well as showing it is far from the best way to live. To begin with, Hank s human nature and values are essentially based off of his circumstances. His time period is full of new opportunities and possibilities. • 13. The Life Of Lise Meitner The Life of Lise Meitner In the beginning of the life of one of the most significant female scientist to date, there was obscurity. Born in Vienna, Austria on November 7th of 1878 during turmoil of war and persecution that would seem to not cease throughout her life, she was bound to surpass her limitations as a necessity to prosper the scientific status. Born the third child out of eight in a Jewish family, she still was not one to go unnoticed or to be persuaded, as a strong minded individual tends to be. At the time of her birth, her family was fairly wealthy, and though of Jewish background, did not practice the religious beliefs of the Jewish heritage. This meant that although she was Austrian in nationality, her ancestors practiced the Jewish way of life, yet it was not as discernable in Meitner or her direct family. Her mother Hedwig Skovran, a musician, was not well known but of enough skill to continue the occupation, while her father, Philipp Meitner, was a lawyer and a master of chess. • 14. Hate Crimes Against Gays Essay In October of 1998, America finally became aware of how deadly discrimination can be. In Laramie, Wyoming, 21 year old college student Matthew Shepard was brutally beaten by two men and tied to a fence, left for dead. Matthew s murderers set out only to rob him, but ended up beating him so severely that he never regained consciousness before he died. Why did this happen in the first place? Simply because Matthew was gay. Matthew s death became a national symbol of violence against homosexuals, prompting prayer vigils and calls for state and federally supported hatecrime laws. Today, America prides itself on being a tolerant country. Through laws and legislation, including affirmative action, anti hate crime laws, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is true that some of the first cases of HIV and AIDS in America were found in gay males. However, once the disease was more widely researched, it was discovered that people other than gays could become infected with the virus, including children, women, and recipients of blood transfusions. Promiscuity among homosexuals is no more common than among straight people ( Sexual Behaviors Text 2 ). While having multiple partners and sharing needles through drug use are common causes of AIDS, these things are not exclusive to the gay community. Many people also believe in a so called Gay Agenda. Among other things, gays are supposedly trying to convert heterosexuals, especially young children, to the other side. Homosexuals are allegedly attempting to spread their disease throughout America. The idea that homosexuals recruit children is based falsely on the idea that a person s sexual orientation is a choice, not a natural state. Children cannot be turned gay merely by contact with a member of the gay community ( About the Religious Right ). According to the American Psychological Association, research suggests that the homosexual orientation is in place very early in the life cycle, possibly even before birth. It is found in about ten percent of the population, a figure which is surprisingly constant across cultures, irrespective of the different moral values ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The causes of evil are accessible; not ultimately mysterious and we now can predict genocide. Both people share their explanations of National Socialist evil. People will do whatever it takes, even if it involves killing others. Eventually this will lead the society to change and have a continuum of destruction that will end in genocide. In the end it is shown that difficult life conditions and certain cultural characteristics allows a society to become vulnerable, which makes it easy to be taken over. The societal political organization can have an authoritarian/totalitarian system that involves mistreatment. Once again there is that concept that people follow and listen to their new leader in hope for things, like life to get only better and they adopt a new ideology in hope for a beneficial change. Nonetheless, the new leaders and their followers are rooted in the culture, frequently a homogeneous one with a limited set of dominant values (pg33). There is a great deal of obedience to authority with respect. Also, they join a group to be or feel connected to others, like themselves. That plays a major role with the in group and out group, in which the in group is powerful and the out group is inferior as well as being scapegoated. The out group is being blamed, ... • 20. The Potential for a Severe Food Shortage in the United States A severe shortage of food in the United States could occur from many causes. Farms could stop growing crops and breeding animals. Some sort of bacteria could sweep through the country killing different food plants. The more important part of the shortage of food however would not be the causes, but the effects. The stance of the country s economy, the well being of middle and lower class families, and the quality of stores that used to sell the products would all decline greatly if an event as severe as an extreme shortage of foodwere to occur. General stores generate a large profit from the sale of food. Some stores like Whole Foods and King Soopers do not sell much besides food products. If there were to be a severe shortage of food, stores like Whole Foods, Walmart, Costco, and King Soopers would take a severe hit in terms of income and the ability to compete with other stores. Places like these would not be able to keep up financially if there were a lack of people buying their food products. There are other non food products that these stores may sell, but these other products would not be able to sell due to the fact that people would be focusing more on ways to get food rather than buying a new T.V. or a new pair of shoes. There are some schools where there would be a 3 4 week break in the summer, but the winter break is longer than ours. First off, students and teachers would not be able to stand each other by the end of the year. • 34. Racism About Racism To be honest, I ve only experienced blatant racism once in my life. I was in 7th grade, and I was getting up to put my food away because my class was leaving. Suddenly, a foot came out of nowhere and two seconds later, I found myself on the floor with my uneaten school food all over the ground and me while being called a terrorist by a Caucasian. It wasn t a big ruckus, only both of our classes saw what happened but it was still terrifying. My friendswere about 8 feet away in shock, and not a single soul helped me not that I expected it. I was a pretty emotionally strong and carefree kid. Humans didn t scare me. If you poked me once I would just forgive you and move on with my little life. To this day, I don t consider that a mortifying experience, I am completely fine. The boy that called me a terrorist was held back the next year so karma came and did my job for me. What did bother me, however, were the little, almost unnoticed glimpses of racism that would happen to me which was completely shrouded away because teenagers were just expected to be rude people so it was acceptable. It was the small things that hurt me the most, and even though the greater portion of America believes that racism has been conquered, I don t believe so. But as bad as these instances of racism hurt me, it s what made my mindstrong and taught me to be happy. • 35. Freeze And Thaw In Concrete The Effects of Freeze and Thaw in Concrete Most people think concrete is an impenetrable solid. But in actually, concrete is a porous material with many capillaries and voids throughout the surface. Although concrete is strong in compressive strength, it is weak in tensile stength and elasticity. Concrete can tolerate heavy loads, but it is susceptible to damage which causes it to break apart over time. One damaging effect is freezing water. When water melts, it absorbs into the pores and capillaries. As the water freezes and expands, it weakens the strength of the concrete. This causes concrete scaling, delamination, and cracking. The freeze and thaw cycle isn t restricted to just northern climates. It also occurs in warmer climates where the temperature drops below freezing at night, and rises above freezing during the day. Sometimes deicing chemicals are applied to the surface to temporary lower the melting point of ice by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Economic neoliberalism focuses on economic freedom to benefit the individual and limit the amount of power that states can hold. Market based systems are created to meet the need of the people and consumers, rather than producing solely for the purpose of increased government power and control. The global shift towards market based economic systems has undoubtedly promoted globalization. The change towards market based systems has four primary components. This includes the transfer of state owned enterprises, division of previous state owned monopolies, deregulation of markets, and the creation of a lawful system that supports private enterprise, as well as protects property. Furthermore, market economies are more likely to participate foreign investments and take part in worldwide trade, rather than the socialist alternative. In all mediums of storytelling alike, there is always the question of if the author is being truthful about the information they are giving. This includes the lessons told through the story of morality in fiction, historical fiction, or anything related to such topics. Scott Fitzgerald Abbi Kopf 1.7.16 The Great Gossip Girl A young man desperately battling society, wealth, and rich obnoxious friends in order to win the heart of the perfect girl...is this the story of The Great Gatsby, or the CW s Gossip Girl? Both, actually: the hit TV show mirrors Fitzgerald s most famous work through parallel themes and characters. Cynical subjects such as doomed love and corruption of the upper class play a major part in both works, as well as the story of fight to surmount class and poverty. This story actually played out a couple of times over the course of Gossip Girl s intensely dramatic six seasons, but most notably between Dan Humphrey and Serena Van Der Woodsen. Dan Humphrey was the James Gatz of Gossip Girl, still struggling to become Jay Gatsby. He had a nice life with his father and sister in Brooklyn, but always dreamed about something greater. When Nick finally told the reader Gatsby s true origin story, he said, he invented just the sort of Jay Gatsby that a seventeen year old boy would be likely to invent, and to this conception he was faithful to the end (p.104). Dan and Gatsby both had an idealized, or Platonic, view of themselves and the way their lives would turn out, and they would stop at nothing to get it. Dan created and used Gossip Girl as a way to get into Serena s world just Gatsby used Nick to get Daisy back. From the beginning of the story the theme of loneliness and alienation occurs almost immediately. Ann is not pleased with her life, she feels not only isolation emotionally but physically. She and her husband John live in the middle of nowhere, far away from company and populated settlements. The remote surrounding in which they live creates a feeling of extreme isolation, especially after previously living in a city, Even the distant farmsteads she could see served only to intensify a sense of isolation( Ross 9). In Psalm 95:3 know that the Lord himself is God; It is he who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are his people and the sheep of his pasture. There is a metaphor being used with we are the sheep of his pasture. There is synonymous parallelism is verses 2, serve the Lord with gladness; Come before him with joyful singing.
