16 Bit Processors. The Year 1989 Saw The Leap From 8-Bit
16 bit processors. The year 1989 saw the leap from 8 bit to 16 bit consoles with NEC s TurboGrafx 16
and Sega s Genesis 16, both of which featured six channel stereo sound. The 16 bit processing chip
offered by Sega could process two times as much data per cycle as the earlier 8 bit processors.
Additionally, it included an 8 bit processor solely for sound. Combined, this resulted in a clearer, fuller
sound; larger, more detailed games; better developed characters; complex graphics; and faster action.
Finally, home video game systems could compete with the performance features of the much larger
coin operated arcade games. With this increase in technology, Sega was able to surpass the Nintendo
system in sales by 1991, and became the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1993, one year after Sega s release of its Sega CD System, Sega released its Sonic CD as one of the
industry s first CD quality game soundtracks. (Gerald Lynch). The 16 Bit Era, with its improved
technology, allowed developers to tell stories of greater complexity and resonance. We watched Mario
and Sonic move about in bold, vibrant colors, and we gasped as 3D gaming took its first, fledgling
steps. The 16 Bit Era was a time of change, excitement, and competition. (Kevin Wong)
The 32 and 64 bit Game Systems. From 1993 through 2000, the video game industry jumped from 16
bit to 32 bit, and eventually to 64 bit systems (Gerald Lynch). As 64 bit systems emerged, the mere
classification of bit numbers became less important due to the fact that performance now depended on
increasingly important factors such as processor clock speed, bandwidth and memory size. However,
there were benefits to be gained from the 64 bit upgrade. Enhanced speed and memory allowed games
to render more realistic collisions, lifelike simulations of graphics and real time multi channel audio
features. This era proved to be dominated by the Nintendo 64 and the Sony PlayStation. Sony entered
the market in 1995 at the 32 bit level with its PlayStation able to provide CD quality stereo sound,
including built in support for digital effects such as reverb and looping. One year later, Nintendo

The Impact Of Fishing On The Service Of Industrialization
Chapter I: Introduction
1.1 General Introduction
Fishing is an activity that people have been doing since early civilization. It evolved from a social
need to currently also one of commercial interest2. As Cochrane and Garcia (2009) describe it so
nicely:
...the commoditization of nature in the service of industrialization.
After years of perceived growth, it is now evident that globally countries suffer from the negative
effects that we people have ourselves helped create. The introduction starts with a background and
relates the complexity of fisheries management from a global level to Suriname. Also the benefits that
fisheries provide for Suriname will be mentioned. Following the problem statement and the objective
of the study, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When looking at the state of the fish stocks of which information is available, confirmed that the
proportion of overexploited, depleted and recovering stocks have remained relatively stable over the
last 10 15 years, after the observed upward trend of operating in the 1970s and 1980s. It is estimated
that in 2007 52% of the fish are fully exploited, meaning that the catches are close to their maximum
permissible limit for sustainable operation and that there was no scope for further expansion
(Valdimarsson, 2007).

This upward trend internationally, especially in the 1970s and 1980s, has influenced Suriname. Since
1979 fisheries in Suriname went through various developments that have a perceptible upward trend.
These developments characterize diversification of the fishing fleet, the commercial marketing of
previously unknown species, improvement of facilities and major expansion of the fleet. From that
year, the Surinamese government had several collaborations with Belgium, Japan, the FAO and the
European Union (EU) and there is much work done in the field of fisheries development, policy,
research, data collection and processing, quality management and support in the form of input,
terminal facilities and other amenities.
Some of these efforts today expanded or developed, but many efforts have also deteriorated.
What makes fishery management so complex?

Cause Of The 1929 Stock Market Crash
In late October of 1929, the U.S. stock market crashed, setting our nation into the Great Depression. In
an attempt to reveal the true catalysts of the event, the book Causes of the 1929 Stock Market Crash
examines popular beliefs of what really caused the economic tragedy. The nine questionable causes
that are discussed in this book are that the stock market was too high in September of 1929 due to
excessive speculation (Bierman 32), there was a downturn in business activity, the Hatry affair, the
Federal Reserve Board s actions, a message that there was a war against speculators, excessive buying
on margin and of investment stocks, excessive leverage in terms of debt, a competitively priced utility
market segment paired with a setback in the public utility market, and an overreaction by the stock
market.
Bierman argues that the overall stock market was not excessively high in September of 1929 and he
even explains that the business outlook was favorable. Therefore, the crash did not occur because the
market was too high. However, at least one section of the market (public utilities) was too high and
too levered, and the stage was set for the selling panic by the press and the governmental officials
repeatedly speaking of an orgy of speculation.
After disproving common beliefs about the stock market crash, he continues to explain the actual
causes.
The next false cause is the Hatry case, which Bierman refers to as a tragedy . It involved an aggressive

Comparison Of Citizen Kane And The Maltese Falcon
Two of the first film noir pieces, The Maltese Falcon and Citizen Kane, share many structural and
stylistic similarities. Their biggest similarities are use of the plant and payoff technique, and sending
characters on meaningless quests. The Maltese Falcon opens with a description of a golden falcon
statue, given as a gift from the people of Malta for their independence, lost en route. After these
opening statements, the film jumps to a detective, Sam Spade, tasked with finding someone by Brigid
O Shaunessy, ignoring the falcon completely. Spade is unaware of the falcon until Brigid s former
partner, Joel Cairo, arrives and offers to pay Spade for it, so he starts searching. Though Spade
searches endlessly, the statue s location is a mystery ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The film s main character is led through a series of challenges or traps, mostly irrelevant, forcing the
character to waste time chasing down false leads. The entire quest is ultimately a joke, because the
object sought is never acquired, and the protagonist has been sent on a wild goose chase. The falcon in
Spade s apartment was discovered to be a fake. Thompson never found rosebud, though the audience
discovers rosebud is Kane s boyhood sled, before it burns to ash. Ultimately, neither character
discovers what he sought, making the endeavor of searching for it

Lady Macbeth Internal Conflict Essay
In literature, internal conflict can be described as the struggle between two conflicting forces inside a
character s mind, the effect of which contributes to the entire work as a whole. In the great Tragedy of
Macbeth written by William Shakespeare, Lady Macbeth is forced not only to confront her desire for
power, but also the line where she crosses the threshold of her own morality. Does Lady Macbeth give
in to her own deep seeded ambition, at the expense of her internal conscience and well being? The
answer is yes, and in the process of doing so, many lives are lost, including her own, and that of her
husband and sovereign king. Throughout Macbeth, Lady Macbeth, in a dire conflict with herself, must
choose between murder, lies, and deceit, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to emphasize this conflict and the contrast between Lady Macbeth and other characters,
Shakespeare presents the reader or audience with many other characters placed in similar
circumstances. These people facing the same internal struggle as Lady Macbeth can be considered
character foils, the most obvious of which is Macbeth. Lady Macbeth begins this play being portrayed
with an unrealistic drive for power while Macbeth is driven, but indecisive and unsure. However,
toward the middle of the play, as Lady Macbeth begins her spiral of guilt, becoming weaker and
weaker, the opposite occurs for Macbeth. As she slowly slips into her insanity, Macbeth becomes
bolder, acting as her perfect inverse. But, this isn t the only foil in the play. Shakespeare contrasts the
actions of Lady Macbeth to Banquo, Macduff, and Duncan, all men who were presented with huge
opportunities for power, but didn t let their greed override their sense of right and wrong. It is here
where conflict helps define one of the major themes of Macbeth; when ambition is unchecked by
moral restraints, it has the ability to destroy everything and anything in its

An Architect, Former U.s. President Of The National...
As an architect, former U.S. president Thomas Jefferson came up with architectural designs that came
to define and influence American architecture and culture in general. This form of Neo Palladianism
and Neo classism architecture came to be known as Jeffersonian architecture. Some of his notable
structures include Monticello (his home), Poplar Forest which was his retreat, the University of
Virginia which he founded as well as other homes which he designed for his political allies and
friends, a good example being Barboursville. His style gained popularity in the early American period.
Similarly, it was during the same time that the more conventional Greek Revival architecture was
gaining popularity with his help. With his architectural designs, he later came to define America s
national identity and culture.
Background
Most famously recognized as the father of the National Architecture in America, Thomas Jefferson
sought to make American ideals and its culture unique from that of Europe, from where they had their
origins ( Architecture is My Delight n.p). At the time Jefferson was developing his architectural skills,
America was undergoing its revolution and therefore it needed an identity of its own, something that
made it standout; and that is what Jefferson had set out to achieve. In a letter he wrote to James
Madison regarding the project of the Virginia State Capitol while on a tour of Europe (Paris, France),
Jefferson states, I am an enthusiast on the subject of

Syria And The Egyptian Empire
The Longest Settled Nation in the World Syria is the longest settled city in the world and has been
engaged in a bloody civil war that threatens not only Syria but also all of its neighboring countries.
Damascus, Syria s capital city has been a permanent settlement from as early as 9000 B.C. For
thousands of years Syria has been a battleground for many wars from the Syrian wars which were a
series of six wars between what is now Syria and the Egyptian Empire, to the current Civil War
between the Basar Al Assad regime and many rebel brigades. In the 7th and 8th century A.D., Syria

The British and French conquered the Ottoman Empire and together drew up the Sykes Picot
agreement which divided the Middle East between the two countries. The British awarded Syria to
France. France attempted to divide the country and make it mostly Christian. Due to the large Muslim
population, this was unsuccessful. France then unsuccessfully tried to implement their local policies
and tried to change the local language to French. The Syrians resisted. This led the French to revert to
violence. They would bomb cities and kill protestors. It was in 1941 when the British actually stepped
in and overthrew the French regime. The last French soldier left April 17th, 1946 which then became
Syria s national day. Hafez Al Assad, the father of the current Syrian leader, Bashar Al Assad was born
on 6 October, 1930 in Qardaha, Syria. Hafez Al Assad was one of the leaders of the Ba ath political
party and took over rule of Syria in 1970. The Ba ath party, founded in Syria in 1947, is still is the
reigning political power in Syria. The Ba ath party has only held power in Iraq and Syria even though
they have sanctions in many other countries. The Ba ath party came to power in Syria with a
successful coup d état overthrowing the current military regime on 8 March, 1963. Hafez Al Assad

by military force. Immediately following the coup

The Is The Applications Of Computers, Software, And...
Bioinformatics is the applications of computers, software, and mathematical models to the
management of biological information from large data sets. It is the storage and analysis of biological
information by the use of computers. Computers are used to gather, store, analyze, and integrate
information that can then be applied to gene bases drug discovery and development. This has become
an essential part of biological research activity, and is rapidly becoming as ordinary in biosciences as
molecular biology has been since the 1980s. The science of Bioinformatics, which is the melding of
molecular biology with computer science, is essential to the use of genomic information in
understanding human diseases and in the identification of new molecular targets for drug discovery
(What is bioinformatics). The primary goal of bioinformatics is to increase the understanding of
biological processes. It is the determination of the sequence of the entire human genome
(approximately three billion base pairs) (What is bioinformatics). This is done so differently from
other approaches, however, due to its focus on developing and applying computationally intensive
techniques to achieve this goal. With bioinformatics, scientists can compare data from genetic material
of a variety of living things, from tiny bacteria to large organisms, such as humans (Bioinformatics,
2012). Bioinformatics has made it possible for scientists to be able to analyze genomes and their
functions.

The Trinity Of The Godhead Religion
One of the pillars on which the Christian faith is based is the Trinity, we believe in God the Farther,
Christ Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit, we believe in the Trinity of the Godhead. This pillar however
has caused many debates amongst many other religions and has been rejected by most with a lot of
speculation about Jesus and His followers.
The Jewish nation however is one of the most sceptical with regards to the acceptance of the Trinity,
the New Testament and Jesus. The Jewish believe that God is the one and only God as seen in the Old
Testament, therefore they live strictly to the laws of Moses, so when we as Christians refer to Jesus as
our Lord and Saviour, they accuse us of blasphemy against the true God of Israel. The Jewish

Giant Sundew Research Paper
The Drosera magnifica, aka Giant Sundew, was discovered in Brazil in 2012 through photographs

sundew ever seen in the New World with growth of up to 123 cm (ESF, n.d.). Other known sundew
plants can be found in Alaska to New Zealand and even Australia, as well as South America and
southern Africa (Learn About Nature, n.d.). Members of the Droseraceae family are known for
arresting and absorbing insects through stalked mucilaginous glands which is spread over the surface
of their leaves (Learn About Nature, n.d.). Sundews are also known to be self productive due to the
fact that their flowers often self pollinate upon closing (Learn About Nature, n.d.). What a beautiful
species! The color is just absolutely gorgeous. When I was searching for additional facts regarding the

thought to be a subspecies of the gray wolf, but due to the vast differences amongst the two species,
they decided to give it its own name (National Geographic, 2016). I think it is crucially important to
focus on conservation of these species. The wooly wolf was able to evolve in isolation without mixing
from other wolf and domestic dog lineages and are quite a rare species to spot in the Himalayas and
therefore protecting this species is quite important (National Geographic,

Lamb And Tyger Archetypes Essay
Lambs and Tigers; Which are you?
(An analysis of the archetypes in Blake s Lamb and Tyger )
Tigers, they re fierce, independent, destructive, powerful, experienced and cunning. Lambs are the
polar opposite, considered gentle, pleasant, and innocent creatures. William Blake discusses both these
archetypes in his poems Lamb and Tyger . The poems are a discussion on the archetype of each
animal; when paired together they suggest our own society can be divided into these two groups of
people. The archetypes of Lamb and Tyger vividly contrast each other in way that allows us to
categorize ourselves into one of three groups. In the first of Blake s poems he discusses the archetype
of a lamb, the innocent and gentle of the world. At one point in Lamb it characterizes the lamb to
have, Softest clothing wooly bright, alluding to the pure and innocent nature of the lamb. Lambs with,
such a tender voice, that, make all the vales rejoice. These are the people of the world that don t have a
mean bone in their body. The lambs are kind and compassionate people that still retain some of that
child like innocence. Blake would think of them as the light in the world, pure and pleasing to others.

ruthless dictator. Those who classify as a tiger are leaders and know how to get what they want. Often

saddled with unpaid bills. Vinson s job was to repair the problem by doing some wrong accounting

could loose they re jobs too if they had strong relationship with WorldCom. The picture would not
look good for the community as a whole. The members of the board would feel guilty not seeing this
mistake in their hands of power. The members of the board would leave the shareholders empty

would have no chance producing revenue and therefore it would go bankrupt. The right decision I
personally would make, would be the second decision making. The reason for this action is because I
care about my status and not off others. I care that I do not commit any White Collar Crime. My belief
is that sooner or later the actions will be caught and I do not want to be part of it. I am pretty sure that
I could find another job somewhere else with a great history of a job position. My primary virtue is to
do the right thing. I hate doing something that I believe is not fair and unethical. I could not accept
being a senior manager to Director of Management Reporting, when I know how wrongfully I did my

The land of Kosovo has been plagued with tension for hundreds of years, being claimed by several
surrounding countries. The two biggest contenders, Albanians in Kosovo and Serbia have been
fighting for the land, which culminated in a full war from 1998 1999. The war brought international
attention to the war crimes committed by both sides, and proved that the two countries had years to go
before coming to a solution. The Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) led by Kosovo Albanians, and the
Serbian militia led by President Slobodan Milošević committed heinous crimes against their enemies.

Taking a Look at Prejudice and Ignorance
Prejudice and ignorance are two of the most prominent ills of our society today. The way gay soldiers
are treated today is no exception. Many have been forced to resign due to their sexual orientation,
which has little or nothing to do with their ability as soldiers. Most members of our armed forces have
no experience in relating to gay people, resulting in a fear that has caused pain to many people, both
homosexual and heterosexual. In 2010, Obama put this country into place when he signed the, Don t
Ask, Don t Tell Repeal Act of 2010 . Even though this was signed, it is still a very heated debate
within the government and this society. People should not have to worry about being gay when they
sign up to protect their country. They also should not be judged on the basis of their sexuality. When
Obama signed the, Don t Ask, Don t Tell Repeal Act of 2010 , it got rid of the original Don t Ask, Don
t Tell Act that was signed by President Clinton in 1993. The Don t Ask, Don t Tell Act , was not
working out as planned. Instead of helping the gay community, it made things a lot worse. In an article
written by Lincoln Caplan, he states, Investigators routinely ask soldiers to name other marines
rumored to be gay and threaten them if they don t confess to homosexual acts. (Caplan n. pag). Sgt.
Robert S. Nadel, a marine in the military, was once court martialled for allegedly doing homosexual
acts. For Nadel and many other soldiers like him, the real policy was more like

Utopian Arcadia
Colonial New Zealand desired a utopian Arcadia, in other words New Zealand was sought to be a new

the case over the past several months, as the U.S. has waged its war against terrorism. If one were to

Unfortunately, this has not been the case in Afghanistan. The United States reacted far too quickly in
declaring the war on terrorism. The Bush administration did not outline clear goals for the war, and in
their haste to fight the cause, and bring justice to the American people, they completely overlooked the
potential impact of their actions on non American citizens.
A major concern regarding the war in Afghanistan is the fact that there may have been more civilian
casualties as a result of bombings than there were in the attacks on the World Trade Center. The
estimates vary widely, but it has been suggested that at least 4000 people have died in Afghanistan
since the bombing campaigns began, although no one can come up with concrete numbers at this
point. Furthermore, this is only one conflict. The same is true regarding the large number of people
who have died in Iraq in the last decade, whether it was due to bombings, or because they suffered as a
result of economic sanctions imposed by the United States. These killings are reprehensible, and, as

The American Revolutionary War Between America And Britain
A guerrilla is any radical who utilizes a weapon of any kind and does the real battling for the
insurrection. They may direct demonstrations of dread, guerrilla fighting, criminal exercises, or
customary operations. They are regularly mixed up for the development or insurrection itself; however
they are only the troopers of the development or revolt. Guerrillas fluctuate broadly in size, make‑up,
strategies, and routines starting with one insurrection then onto the next. They even fluctuate broadly
inside of an uprising, particularly in each of the three periods of a rebellion.
The American Revolutionary War occurred from April 19, 1775 and ended on September 3, 1783.
This war was an aftereffect of governmental issues; Americans had imagined that the Stamp Act of
1765 had been illegal. Then again, the British asserted that they had the privilege to impose the
individuals with taxes. What numerous individuals believe is that it had been a war in the middle of
America and Britain. Despite the fact that this is incompletely genuine, numerous individuals don t
know or perceive the way that the war had developed and France, the Netherlands and Spain had
taken America s side and joined the war.
At an opportune time the United States had chosen to utilize guerilla or unpredictable fighting.
Americans had favorable position as in British were battling on new domain and had no local source
of manpower or food. By 1783 a great many individuals on

The Relationship between Science and Religion
The Relationship between Science and Religion The relationship between science and religion will be
analyzed in the following three aspects: conflict, compartmentalization and complementariness.
Conflict An essential question on our own existence is bound to evoke our curiosity: where did we
come from? Charles Darwin, in his theory of evolution, believed that human being was evolved from
apes. However, the Genesis in Bible considered that human was created by God. Undoubtedly, it is
impossible for human to have two sources. Therefore, science and religion hold absolutely contrastive
viewpoints. That s the basic standpoint of Conflict. Science is full of rationality and impersonality,
while religion is filled with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Religious faith is the foundation and motivation of scientific rationality s improvement. To some
extent, religion promoted science. There is a religious saying: God saw the light, that is was good, and
God divided the light from the darkness. This religious faith promoted people to divide light from
darkness, and it directed them towards science. Meanwhile, science reacts upon religion, stimulates
the religious development and achieves religious goals. Both of them are indispensable. Einstein said,
Science without religion is lame; religion without science is blind , From my perspective, science and
religion are not in conflict or incompatible, but complementary and integral. From papermaking
technology used for the printing of the Buddhist Scriptures to the internet served as preaching religion,
both science and religion played an indispensable sole in human beings lives. To some degree, religion
can be a moral guidance for people in adversity and science enhance our living standard. Being
inseparably interconnected with each other will make our world brighter and happier. But both of
them, as a double edged sword, if applied appropriately, would benefit us; if not, they would do harm
to us. Therefore, we should adopt their strong points while overcoming the weak

The Meatworks Robert Gray Analysis
Andrew Lee Task 1 English Kandylas
Significant discoveries have the ability to generate far reaching and transformative impacts which
catalyse renewed perceptions of the self, others and the world. However, in order for these impacts to
happen, individuals and readers must be willing to reflect on certain discoveries, which is seen in
Robert Gray s poems The Meatworks and North Coast Town and Nam Le s The Boat. This notion is
explored through; firstly, provocative and confronting external experiences facilitate transformed
perceptions of the self others and the world. Secondly, that there can be far reaching ramifications
when individuals uncover the falsehoods and truths of the past.

Initially Mai holds a negative perspective in Mai closed her eyes and tried to recall her father s stories
but they rang shallow against the dense roaring slabs of water she d just seen. The hydrographia
personifies the natural elements creating a pathetic fallacy, which reflects Mai s initially pessimistic
attitude as her hope is crushed by the harsh reality of her experiences on the boat. However, this
provocative experience catalyses a transformed perception, as upon reaching the shore she thinks: The
boat would land they would all land. The epistrophe of land and high modality of would shows her
renewed hopeful perspective, which would not have been possible without physically experiencing the
harshness of being on the boat. Thus, the ability for discoveries to be far reaching and transformative
is seen through these provocative and confronting external experiences that transform individual
perceptions.
Furthermore, both texts demonstrate the far reaching ramifications when individuals uncover and
reassess the falsehoods and truths of the past. Gray takes us on a literal and metaphorical voyage of
discovery in North Coast Town, by showing the impacts on an individual when they contemplate.

The Importance Of Dining In Bullhead City
As of 2014, Bullhead City s population, combined with Fort Mohave, Mohave Valley, Laughlin, and

cities had. Consequently, the majority of individuals drove the long and narrow road to Las Vegas to

Fine dining in Bullhead was limited to Chile s and IHOP; in fact, I had never seen an Olive Garden or

Brita Filters
Brita pour through filters remove impurities from tap water through the science of adsorption.
Different from absorption, adsorption happens when particles or molecules adhere to a surface. The
activated carbon and ion exchange resins in Brita filters attract and adsorb particles in tap water,
making it better tasting and cleaner. As with any pour through system, there is a limited amount of
surface area within the filter for adsorbing particles, which is why your filter needs to be changed
every 40 gallons or approximately every two months.
All Brita filters and containers are BPA free and keep your water tasting great. For over 20 years, the
scientists at Brita® have worked to give you healthier and great tasting water*. The Brita® pitcher
filter uses technology which combines coconut based activated carbon with ion exchange resin in a
BPA free housing. These materials work together to reduce chlorine taste and odor, zinc, and harmful

organs function properly. The major claim made by Brita regarding its water filters is that they remove
enough of the bad stuff in tap water to make it taste better and make it safe and healthy for drinking.
They also claim that it is a far cheaper option than buying bottled water, which infers that their water

Essay on Treatment of Women in Jack Kerouac’s On The Road
The Treatment of Women in On The Road
The women in Jack Kerouac s On The Road were, it seems, not afforded the same depth in character
which the author gave the men. The treatment of the women characters in both word and action by Sal
and Dean seems to show that women could only be a virgin/mother figure or a whore. Throughout the
novel there are many instances in which women and their feelings or actions are either referred to
flippantly or blatantly degraded. It can be said, however, that Sal (Kerouac) did not necessarily agree
with this narrow female identity, and there is evidence to support this claim. The novel also shows
though that Sal did participate in this male forced female stereotyping whether he ... Show more

So, in consequence, there are many instances of the diminishment of the female identity. These can be
seen in the novels treatment of the female characters like Marylou, Sal s Aunt, and Terry. Marylou is
repeatedly talked about, not talked to. In the part in which Dean wishes Sal to sleep with Marylou the
only dialogue that goes on is either Sal s or Dean s. Marylou has no lines. All she really has is a little
go ahead . That is all and that really does not even imply cooperation; only coercion like go ahead and
You do Your thing to me . Dean is flippantly wanting Marylou to sleep with his friend with little
regard to anything she feels. She is a women, and, what is more to Dean she is a whore so of course
she will sleep with Sal. To Sal s credit though he does ask what she wants or thinks from the start but
this sudden care seems to arise due to his own nervousness and insecurities not any kind of genuine
feeling for Marylou. Her identity as seen through the eyes of men would fall into the whore stereotype
of women. This is the exact opposite from Sal s Aunt. The most apparent treatment of Sal s Aunt as
something less than an equal comes at the end of part one. Sal has just returned from his first trip west.
He is tired. He has been starving for three days now and of course eats everything in the house. Then
his Aunt s few extensive lines in the entire novel occur, and in a decidedly motherly fashion she says

Water Quality Guidelines For Agriculture
Water quality for different usages depends on type and concentration of dissolved materials in it. So,
while a sample is deemed appropriate for drinking usage it may not be employed for other usages in
industry or agriculture. Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has published
the water quality guidelines for agriculture. The agriculture sector consumes about 94 percent of total
annual water in Iran as the biggest stakeholder (Alizadeh and Keshavarz, 2005). Given the effects of
irrigation water on soil and crops, monitoring and assessment of groundwater quality are very
important. Therefore, groundwater quality assessment is one of the most important environmental
issues across the world for decision makers. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Passing through different layers of soil and geologic formations, water quality changes from recharge
to discharge. Again, perception of hydrochemical evolution is still a challenge for hydrogeologists
(Singh et al., 2013). Furthermore, the suitability of irrigation water is influenced by different factors
such as soil type, soil drainage, salt tolerance and crop types (Michael, 2008). Therefore, groundwater
quality, soil information and socioeconomic condition of the stockholders should be also considered in
groundwater quality assessment to achieve the integrated water resources development (Kawy, 2012).
The main focus of the present study is on groundwater quality rather than other factors.
The frequently used criteria for water quality evaluation are the SAR, SSP, RSC, PI, MAR, KR and
EC. SAR is another important parameter for determining the suitability of groundwater for irrigation
purposes which indicates alkalinity hazard to crop (Raghunath, 1987). Excessive sodium content in
irrigation water may produce deteriorating influences in growth of plants and soil structure such as
dispersion of clay particles, soil hardness, surface crusting, hydraulic conductivity in most soils (Todd
and Mays, 2005; Suarez et al., 2006; Ramesh and Elango, 2012) Since

Publishing this book was an extremely hard task to do. One reason is because he was trying to publish
an anti stalin novel when western support for the Soviet union was still needed to help be victorious
over Germany. And another reason would simply be because he was not a very well known writer
back then. For these two reasons, Animal Farm was then not published and released until after the war.
Animal Farm was Orwell s first big book becoming a very successful book, which helped him from

My Brother s Child Protective Services
When my brother, Alex, was two years old, he was taken from my family because the hospital
wrongly accused my dad of shaking Alex at that time. This started with after my dad put Alex down
on our dining room table, still in his car seat unbuckled, and Alex wiggled his way out and fell to the
ground. After this incident, my parents rushed him to the hospital because he started to have seizures.
The nurses later found that my brother had suffered from shaken baby syndrome. They could only link
it to my dad leaving my brother unattended sitting on the dining room table, but earlier in that week
when Alex was in daycare at Primrose and he would not stop cry so the sitter started to shake him
thinking it would calm him down. Once the nurses found out why Alex was having seizures so

In contrast to boys, girls were taught to be self denying, and to be helpers to men. Corporal
Punishment of children was even condemned even though practiced in the home. Even though there
were many questions to be asked before some could marry, Quakers did believe in love before
marriage. They believed that love should be pure and not tainted by the craving of flesh. To marry,
couples needed permission from their families and community. Unlike in Virginia, Quakers forbade
first cousin marriages, and discouraged marriages between second cousins. In Quaker households, it
was more of a partnership between the husband and wife than in those of Massachusetts and Virginia.
In the Delaware Valley children spoke of their father and mother s house.
The Quakers had a saying: In souls there is no sex. This meant in their culture, men and women were
equal. Unlike Puritan culture, women could preach to men and women, and in a public setting. That
same quote went for sexual relations in marriages. Sex in Quaker culture was looked upon as just for
the purpose of conception of children. To do otherwise was looked at as fornication. To have sex just
for pleasure was also fornication. Even married couples would restrain from having sex with each
other if the woman was not in time to get pregnant. Married couple also occupied not only single beds

Lisfranc Fracture-Dislocation Case Study
The Lisfranc fracture dislocation is characterised as an injury of the tarsometatarsal joints of the foot.
This region of the foot is prone to injury due to the lack of ligaments separating the bases of the first
and second metatarsals (Bontrager Lampignano, 2010). The Lisfranc joint articulates between the
cuneiforms and cuboid of the foot, along with the distal end of metatarsals, and separates the forefoot
from the midfoot. The joint can be seen from three different views in Figure 1 of the appendix (Kalia,
Fishman, Carrino, Fayad, 2011). The clinical indications of a Lisfranc fracture dislocation include
oedema and tenderness in the area of the midfoot. The injury is usually caused by the foot being
overly plantar flexed, and is often associated with vehicular accidents and sporting injuries (Scolaro,
Ahn Mehta, 2011).
According to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the separation between the base of the first and second metatarsals is less than two millimetres, the
recommended treatment is to cast and immobilise the foot until healed. However, the most common
form of treatment is surgical and known as open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF). In Figure 4, a
radiographic image shows how a surgical screw has been positioned to stabilise and internally fixate
the Lisfranc fracture dislocation (Southerland, Boberg, Downey, Nakra Rabjohn, 2012).
It has been suggested by Scolaro (2011) et al. that if the Lisfranc fracture dislocation is greater than
two millimetres long term complications such as arthritis and damage to surrounding ligaments can
occur. However, the likelihood of obtaining posttraumatic arthritis is decreased dramatically if ORIF
surgery is performed soon after initial injury. If the Lisfranc fracture was a result of an athletic injury,
pain and instability of the foot can occur and arthrodesis may be necessary for long term treatment

tolerance that accepts all beliefs. Tolerance can be defined in two ways, legal tolerance is the right for
everyone to believe in whatever faith (or none at all) he wishes. This is important in our society, and
we as Christians should maintain our conviction that no one should ever be coerced into believing as
we do. Another legal way of tolerance is social tolerance, a commitment to

Allusions in Bartleby the Scrivener by Herman Melville Essay
In Bartleby, the Scrivener the author, Herman Melville, uses indirect references to hint to many
historical, literary, and biblical events. Bartleby, the Scrivener contains many allusions about
important events that help connect this fictional story to actual events in Melville s time period,
before, and beyond. Melville uses allusions frequently throughout Bartleby, the Scrivener to help build
connections with the real world and the fictitious world of this short story. One of the biggest allusions
in Bartleby, the Scrivener is the comparison of Bartleby to Jesus. In the story the narrator is confronted
by the new owner of the law offices. He asks the narrator if he knows who Bartleby is. The narrator
replies with I certainly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He rolled a big stone in front of the entrance to the tomb. Then he went away (NIV, Matthew 27:60).
Cicero, a very successful Roman politician, also plays a very significant role in the story of Bartleby,
the Scrivener . The narrator has a bust of Cicero in his office connecting the two cultures; the Western
and Eastern cultures however are strikingly different. At around 100 B.C. Cicero led the Roman
Empire in a very structured and civilized way. The Roman Empire s governmental structure is very
similar to the United Stated government because they both include three branches. The Judiciary, the
Executive, and the Legislative branches are included in both civilizations; however the Roman s
devised this system more than 2,000 years before the United States. They also both have elected
officials who are either elected or are appointed by the Consuls. The Roman Government was very
orderly and organized, the exact opposite of how it was in Bartleby s office. This small detail in the
story creates more contrast and helps us better understand the changes that can happen in such a short
amount of time. The law office was a very orderly place, it just takes one person to throw any well
oiled system off balance. The inclusions of these allusions are very subtle and are not always obvious,
however Melville took the time to add these into the story to further build connections with the story
world and the real world to make the story

The Invention Of An Invention
Innovation It is imperative to distinguish between invention and innovation. An invention is the first
appearance of an idea for a new product or process while innovation to attempt to put the new idea
into practice. It is the transformation of an invention into a new product or process and its commercial
and social exploitation. Thus, to turn an invention into an innovation, a firm, requires combining
numerous types of knowledge, skills, capabilities, market knowledge, a properly functioning
distribution system and sufficient finances. In a firm the sources of innovation can be both internal and
external. The former includes research and development, design, tooling up and marketing while the
later are capital goods and equipment, consultancy, licences and acquisition of patents and scientific
literature
Schumpeter defines innovation as new combinations of existing resources. He called the work of
combination the entrepreneurial function which is to be accomplished by entrepreneurs. One major
reason for the invaluable role played by entrepreneurs to make sure that innovation gained ground was
the widespread resistance to change in the society. Thus, the individual entrepreneur has to curve his
position in the market so as to succeed in his venture. (Fagerberg 2006). The purpose of carrying out
of new combinations of resources is to to facilitate: one, to introduction of a new good. The consumers
are not yet familiar with this type of goods or the new quality of the

Commonplace Book Analysis
A little over three months ago, I, along with thousands of other freshmen, embarked on a scary, yet
exciting new chapter in our lives. Most of us, myself included, thought that we were well prepared for
our first classes as college students. If I were asked what I had learned during college, I would have a
hard time stating anything other than useless facts related to my classes. My commonplace book
includes posts from throughout the semester that express my progression as both a student and a
person.
While I was rereading entries from my commonplace book, I was reminded of the dejected feeling
that I had at the beginning of each unit. It was almost amusing to me to see how fearful I was of each
project and then see how I gradually progressed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first tag is learning . It may seem obvious but I learned so much about not the only the writing
process, but in my self too. Nearly all of my entries in the commonplace book discuss some lesson
that I learned from the time when I figured out MLA format to when I finally realized how to revise
the style of my papers. The second tag is Fear of Failure . One of my favorite quotes is from Gena
Showalter that says Giving up is the only sure way to fail . One of my biggest problems throughout
the semester was being discouraged right from the beginning, which I talked about in each unit
reflection. Once I overcame the fear of screwing up the project, I was finally able to get to work and
spit out some pretty good material. My third tag is Resiliency . I thought about combining resiliency
and fear of failure but the more that I thought about it, I realized that they were completely different.
Resiliency deals with the extreme amount of effort that I put into each any ever piece that I brought to
class even though I would rather be doing literally anything else. It also covers all of the times when I
had no clue what I was doing and had to start over from scratch, even though I could have easily
turned in a piece that would have received an okay grade. Differences is my fourth tag. The idea of
differences first came to me when we were working on the Op Doc analysis and each had videos that
were all polar opposites of each other. Not only were the styles of our Op Docs different, but so were
the styles in which we wrote our analyses. In high school we learn how to do everything just like one
another, but in college we finally open our eyes and see that being different is what makes us who we
are. My final tag is Creative Edge . It took me to the late half of the semester to finally find my
creative edge. Because it took me so long to find it, I had started to think that

Frida Kahlo Iron Woman Analysis
Nereyda Bautista
Professor Scheinuck
Art 160 M 6 9PM
Due: 04/14/2017
Iron Woman Frida Kahlo is the most known Mexican artist for her selfportraits. Majority of her
paintings were including herself. She would paint her deep rooted feelings, a number of them may be
found disturbing for some, for example: My Birth, My Nurse and I, Henry Ford Hospital, The Broken
Column, and many others. Frida Kahlo was a surrealist considering the time of her work starting in the
1920s.
Born July 6th, 1907, in Mexico with Mexican roots from her mother and German roots from her
father, Frida Kahlo was the second youngest of four. Frida contracted polio at a small age and was left
with a thinner leg deformity. At age 18 she had a tragic accident where she suffered major injuries
from her shoulders to her feet. The two she never fully recovered from was her broken spinal column
and her pierced uterus damaging her reproductive system permanently. She shared the same interests
as her father, but looked very much like her mother according to Moffat. In the film from Art 160 class
of Frida, Kahlo married Diego Rivera in which marriage she was not very as she referred marrying
him as her second accident. She lost two children that were never fully developed due to her accident.
Diego and Frida divorced due to infidelity and betrayal. In 1940 a year ... Show more content on

She almost died twice, one with polio and the second in the horrible accident, She recovered although
not fully. Married the man she chose and although she did conceive she was not able to nurture and
have those babies. Her desire of being a mother influenced a lot of her work and her pain was
portrayed in paintings which were very touching. Although she got very sick due to her spinal column
in the end she had happiness in her life again and her story becomes more overwhelming as she knows
she is going to die soon. Frida was an amazing woman who deserved the attention she got after she

The Alchemist And Gifted Hands Essay
Christopher Orobinsky
The quote Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and
suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved. In my opinion this
quote is true because you do need experience to do or know something. Although reading can give
you a lot of knowledge it s not enough for you in the real world. To become a doctor you actually need
experience but knowledge is just as important. I believe that this quote can be applied to Gifted
Hands: The Ben Carson Story by Ben Carson with Cecil Murphey and The Alchemist by Paulo
Coelho, because in these books the author portrays the challenges and hardships the people faced
which is their experience and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But he overcame it with the help of his mom who helped convince him to continue studying and take
school more seriously and because of this grades rose and reached the top of the class once again. In
the book the The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho the author writes about a shepherd named Santiago who
tries to complete his Personal legend which is to travel and find his treasure. In this book he goes
through many hardships to achieve his personal legend but with this experience he learns the secret of
happiness which is to do what you love but not to forget the task at hand. On his journey to find his
personal legend he had to overcome many obstacles to no stray of the path. One obstacle that he faces
is in the beginning of the book when he sails and arrives to Africa. There he didn t know the native
language but one person came up to him who spoke his language. He asked the stranger if he could
lead the way to Egypt and the stranger agreed to him but he was a thief. So when he had the
opportunity he stole Santiago s leaving him penny less. By then he already wanted to give up on his
personal legend and go back to being a shepherd but he could because he didn t have the money for it.
So he got a job there and after a year he had enough money to buy a ticket back and double the
amount of sheep he had. But something made him not instead he continued his personal quest because
of the kings words. So he continued on and got stuck at an oasis because

  • 2. 16 Bit Processors. The Year 1989 Saw The Leap From 8-Bit 16 bit processors. The year 1989 saw the leap from 8 bit to 16 bit consoles with NEC s TurboGrafx 16 and Sega s Genesis 16, both of which featured six channel stereo sound. The 16 bit processing chip offered by Sega could process two times as much data per cycle as the earlier 8 bit processors. Additionally, it included an 8 bit processor solely for sound. Combined, this resulted in a clearer, fuller sound; larger, more detailed games; better developed characters; complex graphics; and faster action. Finally, home video game systems could compete with the performance features of the much larger coin operated arcade games. With this increase in technology, Sega was able to surpass the Nintendo system in sales by 1991, and became the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1993, one year after Sega s release of its Sega CD System, Sega released its Sonic CD as one of the industry s first CD quality game soundtracks. (Gerald Lynch). The 16 Bit Era, with its improved technology, allowed developers to tell stories of greater complexity and resonance. We watched Mario and Sonic move about in bold, vibrant colors, and we gasped as 3D gaming took its first, fledgling steps. The 16 Bit Era was a time of change, excitement, and competition. (Kevin Wong) The 32 and 64 bit Game Systems. From 1993 through 2000, the video game industry jumped from 16 bit to 32 bit, and eventually to 64 bit systems (Gerald Lynch). As 64 bit systems emerged, the mere classification of bit numbers became less important due to the fact that performance now depended on increasingly important factors such as processor clock speed, bandwidth and memory size. However, there were benefits to be gained from the 64 bit upgrade. Enhanced speed and memory allowed games to render more realistic collisions, lifelike simulations of graphics and real time multi channel audio features. This era proved to be dominated by the Nintendo 64 and the Sony PlayStation. Sony entered the market in 1995 at the 32 bit level with its PlayStation able to provide CD quality stereo sound, including built in support for digital effects such as reverb and looping. • 3. The Impact Of Fishing On The Service Of Industrialization Chapter I: Introduction 1.1 General Introduction Fishing is an activity that people have been doing since early civilization. It evolved from a social need to currently also one of commercial interest2. As Cochrane and Garcia (2009) describe it so nicely: ...the commoditization of nature in the service of industrialization. After years of perceived growth, it is now evident that globally countries suffer from the negative effects that we people have ourselves helped create. The introduction starts with a background and relates the complexity of fisheries management from a global level to Suriname. Also the benefits that fisheries provide for Suriname will be mentioned. It is estimated that in 2007 52% of the fish are fully exploited, meaning that the catches are close to their maximum permissible limit for sustainable operation and that there was no scope for further expansion (Valdimarsson, 2007). 2 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fishing accessed March 30, 2010 2 This upward trend internationally, especially in the 1970s and 1980s, has influenced Suriname. Since 1979 fisheries in Suriname went through various developments that have a perceptible upward trend. These developments characterize diversification of the fishing fleet, the commercial marketing of previously unknown species, improvement of facilities and major expansion of the fleet. From that year, the Surinamese government had several collaborations with Belgium, Japan, the FAO and the European Union (EU) and there is much work done in the field of fisheries development, policy, research, data collection and processing, quality management and support in the form of input, terminal facilities and other amenities. Some of these efforts today expanded or developed, but many efforts have also deteriorated. What makes fishery management so complex? ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Cause Of The 1929 Stock Market Crash In late October of 1929, the U.S. stock market crashed, setting our nation into the Great Depression. In an attempt to reveal the true catalysts of the event, the book Causes of the 1929 Stock Market Crash examines popular beliefs of what really caused the economic tragedy. The nine questionable causes that are discussed in this book are that the stock market was too high in September of 1929 due to excessive speculation (Bierman 32), there was a downturn in business activity, the Hatry affair, the Federal Reserve Board s actions, a message that there was a war against speculators, excessive buying on margin and of investment stocks, excessive leverage in terms of debt, a competitively priced utility market segment paired with a setback in the public utility market, and an overreaction by the stock market. Bierman argues that the overall stock market was not excessively high in September of 1929 and he even explains that the business outlook was favorable. Therefore, the crash did not occur because the market was too high. However, at least one section of the market (public utilities) was too high and too levered, and the stage was set for the selling panic by the press and the governmental officials repeatedly speaking of an orgy of speculation. After disproving common beliefs about the stock market crash, he continues to explain the actual causes. The next false cause is the Hatry case, which Bierman refers to as a tragedy . It involved an aggressive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Comparison Of Citizen Kane And The Maltese Falcon Two of the first film noir pieces, The Maltese Falcon and Citizen Kane, share many structural and stylistic similarities. Their biggest similarities are use of the plant and payoff technique, and sending characters on meaningless quests. The Maltese Falcon opens with a description of a golden falcon statue, given as a gift from the people of Malta for their independence, lost en route. After these opening statements, the film jumps to a detective, Sam Spade, tasked with finding someone by Brigid O Shaunessy, ignoring the falcon completely. • 6. Lady Macbeth Internal Conflict Essay In literature, internal conflict can be described as the struggle between two conflicting forces inside a character s mind, the effect of which contributes to the entire work as a whole. In the great Tragedy of Macbeth written by William Shakespeare, Lady Macbeth is forced not only to confront her desire for power, but also the line where she crosses the threshold of her own morality. Does Lady Macbeth give in to her own deep seeded ambition, at the expense of her internal conscience and well being? The answer is yes, and in the process of doing so, many lives are lost, including her own, and that of her husband and sovereign king. Throughout Macbeth, Lady Macbeth, in a dire conflict with herself, must choose between murder, lies, and deceit, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to emphasize this conflict and the contrast between Lady Macbeth and other characters, Shakespeare presents the reader or audience with many other characters placed in similar circumstances. These people facing the same internal struggle as Lady Macbeth can be considered character foils, the most obvious of which is Macbeth. Lady Macbeth begins this play being portrayed with an unrealistic drive for power while Macbeth is driven, but indecisive and unsure. However, toward the middle of the play, as Lady Macbeth begins her spiral of guilt, becoming weaker and weaker, the opposite occurs for Macbeth. As she slowly slips into her insanity, Macbeth becomes bolder, acting as her perfect inverse. But, this isn t the only foil in the play. Shakespeare contrasts the actions of Lady Macbeth to Banquo, Macduff, and Duncan, all men who were presented with huge opportunities for power, but didn t let their greed override their sense of right and wrong. It is here where conflict helps define one of the major themes of Macbeth; when ambition is unchecked by moral restraints, it has the ability to destroy everything and anything in its ... As an architect, former U.S. president Thomas Jefferson came up with architectural designs that came to define and influence American architecture and culture in general. This form of Neo Palladianism and Neo classism architecture came to be known as Jeffersonian architecture. Some of his notable structures include Monticello (his home), Poplar Forest which was his retreat, the University of Virginia which he founded as well as other homes which he designed for his political allies and friends, a good example being Barboursville. His style gained popularity in the early American period. Similarly, it was during the same time that the more conventional Greek Revival architecture was gaining popularity with his help. With his architectural designs, he later came to define America s national identity and culture. Background Most famously recognized as the father of the National Architecture in America, Thomas Jefferson sought to make American ideals and its culture unique from that of Europe, from where they had their origins ( Architecture is My Delight n.p). At the time Jefferson was developing his architectural skills, America was undergoing its revolution and therefore it needed an identity of its own, something that made it standout; and that is what Jefferson had set out to achieve. In a letter he wrote to James Madison regarding the project of the Virginia State Capitol while on a tour of Europe (Paris, France), Jefferson states, I am an enthusiast on the subject of ... • 9. The Is The Applications Of Computers, Software, And... Bioinformatics is the applications of computers, software, and mathematical models to the management of biological information from large data sets. It is the storage and analysis of biological information by the use of computers. Computers are used to gather, store, analyze, and integrate information that can then be applied to gene bases drug discovery and development. This has become an essential part of biological research activity, and is rapidly becoming as ordinary in biosciences as molecular biology has been since the 1980s. The science of Bioinformatics, which is the melding of molecular biology with computer science, is essential to the use of genomic information in understanding human diseases and in the identification of new molecular targets for drug discovery (What is bioinformatics). The primary goal of bioinformatics is to increase the understanding of biological processes. It is the determination of the sequence of the entire human genome (approximately three billion base pairs) (What is bioinformatics). This is done so differently from other approaches, however, due to its focus on developing and applying computationally intensive techniques to achieve this goal. With bioinformatics, scientists can compare data from genetic material of a variety of living things, from tiny bacteria to large organisms, such as humans (Bioinformatics, 2012). Bioinformatics has made it possible for scientists to be able to analyze genomes and their functions. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(An analysis of the archetypes in Blake s Lamb and Tyger ) Tigers, they re fierce, independent, destructive, powerful, experienced and cunning. Lambs are the polar opposite, considered gentle, pleasant, and innocent creatures. William Blake discusses both these archetypes in his poems Lamb and Tyger . The poems are a discussion on the archetype of each animal; when paired together they suggest our own society can be divided into these two groups of people. The archetypes of Lamb and Tyger vividly contrast each other in way that allows us to categorize ourselves into one of three groups. In the first of Blake s poems he discusses the archetype of a lamb, the innocent and gentle of the world. At one point in Lamb it characterizes the lamb to have, Softest clothing wooly bright, alluding to the pure and innocent nature of the lamb. Lambs with, such a tender voice, that, make all the vales rejoice. These are the people of the world that don t have a mean bone in their body. Many have been forced to resign due to their sexual orientation, which has little or nothing to do with their ability as soldiers. Most members of our armed forces have no experience in relating to gay people, resulting in a fear that has caused pain to many people, both homosexual and heterosexual. In 2010, Obama put this country into place when he signed the, Don t Ask, Don t Tell Repeal Act of 2010 . Even though this was signed, it is still a very heated debate within the government and this society. People should not have to worry about being gay when they sign up to protect their country. They also should not be judged on the basis of their sexuality. When Obama signed the, Don t Ask, Don t Tell Repeal Act of 2010 , it got rid of the original Don t Ask, Don t Tell Act that was signed by President Clinton in 1993. The American Revolutionary War occurred from April 19, 1775 and ended on September 3, 1783. This war was an aftereffect of governmental issues; Americans had imagined that the Stamp Act of 1765 had been illegal. Then again, the British asserted that they had the privilege to impose the individuals with taxes. What numerous individuals believe is that it had been a war in the middle of America and Britain. Despite the fact that this is incompletely genuine, numerous individuals don t know or perceive the way that the war had developed and France, the Netherlands and Spain had taken America s side and joined the war. At an opportune time the United States had chosen to utilize guerilla or unpredictable fighting. The Relationship between Science and Religion The Relationship between Science and Religion The relationship between science and religion will be analyzed in the following three aspects: conflict, compartmentalization and complementariness. Conflict An essential question on our own existence is bound to evoke our curiosity: where did we come from? Charles Darwin, in his theory of evolution, believed that human being was evolved from apes. However, the Genesis in Bible considered that human was created by God. Undoubtedly, it is impossible for human to have two sources. Therefore, science and religion hold absolutely contrastive viewpoints. That s the basic standpoint of Conflict. Religious faith is the foundation and motivation of scientific rationality s improvement. To some extent, religion promoted science. There is a religious saying: God saw the light, that is was good, and God divided the light from the darkness. This religious faith promoted people to divide light from darkness, and it directed them towards science. Meanwhile, science reacts upon religion, stimulates the religious development and achieves religious goals. Both of them are indispensable. Einstein said, Science without religion is lame; religion without science is blind , From my perspective, science and religion are not in conflict or incompatible, but complementary and integral. From papermaking technology used for the printing of the Buddhist Scriptures to the internet served as preaching religion, both science and religion played an indispensable sole in human beings lives. To some degree, religion can be a moral guidance for people in adversity and science enhance our living standard. The Meatworks Robert Gray Analysis Andrew Lee Task 1 English Kandylas Significant discoveries have the ability to generate far reaching and transformative impacts which catalyse renewed perceptions of the self, others and the world. However, in order for these impacts to happen, individuals and readers must be willing to reflect on certain discoveries, which is seen in Robert Gray s poems The Meatworks and North Coast Town and Nam Le s The Boat. However, this provocative experience catalyses a transformed perception, as upon reaching the shore she thinks: The boat would land they would all land. The epistrophe of land and high modality of would shows her renewed hopeful perspective, which would not have been possible without physically experiencing the harshness of being on the boat. Thus, the ability for discoveries to be far reaching and transformative is seen through these provocative and confronting external experiences that transform individual perceptions. Different from absorption, adsorption happens when particles or molecules adhere to a surface. The activated carbon and ion exchange resins in Brita filters attract and adsorb particles in tap water, making it better tasting and cleaner. As with any pour through system, there is a limited amount of surface area within the filter for adsorbing particles, which is why your filter needs to be changed every 40 gallons or approximately every two months. The treatment of the women characters in both word and action by Sal and Dean seems to show that women could only be a virgin/mother figure or a whore. Throughout the novel there are many instances in which women and their feelings or actions are either referred to flippantly or blatantly degraded. • 38. Lisfranc Fracture-Dislocation Case Study The Lisfranc fracture dislocation is characterised as an injury of the tarsometatarsal joints of the foot. This region of the foot is prone to injury due to the lack of ligaments separating the bases of the first and second metatarsals (Bontrager Lampignano, 2010). The Lisfranc joint articulates between the cuneiforms and cuboid of the foot, along with the distal end of metatarsals, and separates the forefoot from the midfoot. The joint can be seen from three different views in Figure 1 of the appendix (Kalia, Fishman, Carrino, Fayad, 2011). The clinical indications of a Lisfranc fracture dislocation include oedema and tenderness in the area of the midfoot. Cicero led the Roman Empire in a very structured and civilized way. The Roman Empire s governmental structure is very similar to the United Stated government because they both include three branches. The Judiciary, the Executive, and the Legislative branches are included in both civilizations; however the Roman s devised this system more than 2,000 years before the United States. They also both have elected officials who are either elected or are appointed by the Consuls. The Roman Government was very orderly and organized, the exact opposite of how it was in Bartleby s office. This small detail in the story creates more contrast and helps us better understand the changes that can happen in such a short amount of time. The law office was a very orderly place, it just takes one person to throw any well oiled system off balance. The inclusions of these allusions are very subtle and are not always obvious, however Melville took the time to add these into the story to further build connections with the story world and the real world to make the story ... • 41. The Invention Of An Invention Innovation It is imperative to distinguish between invention and innovation. An invention is the first appearance of an idea for a new product or process while innovation to attempt to put the new idea into practice. It is the transformation of an invention into a new product or process and its commercial and social exploitation. Thus, to turn an invention into an innovation, a firm, requires combining numerous types of knowledge, skills, capabilities, market knowledge, a properly functioning distribution system and sufficient finances. In a firm the sources of innovation can be both internal and external. The former includes research and development, design, tooling up and marketing while the later are capital goods and equipment, consultancy, licences and acquisition of patents and scientific literature Schumpeter defines innovation as new combinations of existing resources. He called the work of combination the entrepreneurial function which is to be accomplished by entrepreneurs. One major reason for the invaluable role played by entrepreneurs to make sure that innovation gained ground was the widespread resistance to change in the society. Thus, the individual entrepreneur has to curve his position in the market so as to succeed in his venture. (Fagerberg 2006). The purpose of carrying out of new combinations of resources is to to facilitate: one, to introduction of a new good. • 42. Commonplace Book Analysis A little over three months ago, I, along with thousands of other freshmen, embarked on a scary, yet exciting new chapter in our lives. Most of us, myself included, thought that we were well prepared for our first classes as college students. If I were asked what I had learned during college, I would have a hard time stating anything other than useless facts related to my classes. My commonplace book includes posts from throughout the semester that express my progression as both a student and a person. While I was rereading entries from my commonplace book, I was reminded of the dejected feeling that I had at the beginning of each unit. It was almost amusing to me to see how fearful I was of each project and then see how I gradually progressed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first tag is learning . It may seem obvious but I learned so much about not the only the writing process, but in my self too. Nearly all of my entries in the commonplace book discuss some lesson that I learned from the time when I figured out MLA format to when I finally realized how to revise the style of my papers. The second tag is Fear of Failure . One of my favorite quotes is from Gena Showalter that says Giving up is the only sure way to fail . One of my biggest problems throughout the semester was being discouraged right from the beginning, which I talked about in each unit reflection. Once I overcame the fear of screwing up the project, I was finally able to get to work and spit out some pretty good material. My third tag is Resiliency . I thought about combining resiliency and fear of failure but the more that I thought about it, I realized that they were completely different. Resiliency deals with the extreme amount of effort that I put into each any ever piece that I brought to class even though I would rather be doing literally anything else. It also covers all of the times when I had no clue what I was doing and had to start over from scratch, even though I could have easily turned in a piece that would have received an okay grade. Differences is my fourth tag. The idea of differences first came to me when we were working on the Op Doc analysis and each had videos that were all polar opposites of each other. Not only were the styles of our Op Docs different, but so were the styles in which we wrote our analyses. In high school we learn how to do everything just like one another, but in college we finally open our eyes and see that being different is what makes us who we are. My final tag is Creative Edge . It took me to the late half of the semester to finally find my creative edge. Because it took me so long to find it, I had started to think that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. The Alchemist And Gifted Hands Essay Christopher Orobinsky The quote Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved. In my opinion this quote is true because you do need experience to do or know something. Although reading can give you a lot of knowledge it s not enough for you in the real world. To become a doctor you actually need experience but knowledge is just as important. I believe that this quote can be applied to Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story by Ben Carson with Cecil Murphey and The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, because in these books the author portrays the challenges and hardships the people faced which is their experience and the ...
