Literary Analysis Of Randall Jarrell
Almost as important as the content, is the form an author chooses to express their stories. From
poetry to novels, writing form helps shape a reader s experience. The Death of the Ball Turret
Gunner , is the perfect example of how a poem s form reinforces its content. The author, Randall
Jarrell, leaves much to the readers imagination. Jarrell is descriptive and vague at the same time.
This style is no accident and helps convey more to the readers than the surface level of the text.
Making the readers think and question the truth behind any war and telling a story people aren t
used to reading. 1
In class, we ve discussed Kate McLoughlin s ideas for how to write the best war literature. Kate
McLoughlin helped write and edit The Cambridge Companion to War Writing. In her writing,
McLoughlin discusses the difficulties of war literature, and how words can t capture the true
complexity of war. McLoughlin describes war as a massive and complex phenomenon and goes
on to say literature of any type cannot accurately capture war. This is especially true of war on a
global scale that spans years. To solve this problem, McLoughlin suggests that writing less and
leaving certain aspects to the reader s imagination can be beneficial. 2 Randall Jarrell s style
seems in line with McLoughlin s views on how to write proper war literature. This lack of detail is
what made his poem, one of the more compelling readings so far. Leaving the reader to imagine
what the gunner is experiencing

Wu Cheng s The Journey To The West
Chapter one of Wu Cheng en s classical story, The Journey to the West, introduces the main
character, Monkey, by providing background information about his origin and early life. Monkey
lived equally along with gibbons and baboons who he considered his kin until he was appointed to
king of the Blessed Land of Flower Fruit Mountain. This transition from an unstructured, free will
society to an orderly kingdom portrays the social changes humans experienced when dynasties
arose in civilization. After Monkey gained the title of king, certain changes occurred. Immediately
after he claimed the position, his peers lined up according to rank and age , praising Monkey by
chanting, long live our great king (Cheng en, 177). The recently equal group... Show more content

Prior to Monkey becoming king, a poem in the beginning of the chapter claims they played two
games or three with pebbles and with pellets; they circled sandy pits, they built rare pagodas, they
chased dragonflies.... which are activities that allowed the population to live in a carefree, playful
environment (Cheng en, 174). After Monkey became king, their activities depended on the
season, which another poem portrays; In the spring they gathered flowers for food and drink. In
the summer they went in quest of fruits for sustenance. In the autumn they amassed taros and
chestnuts to ward off time. In the winter they searched for yellow sperms to live out the year
(Cheng en, 178). The newly civilized, ruled monkeys no longer roamed aimlessly playing with one
another, but had jobs that would ensure their survival. This societal change is also reflected in the
late Ming dynasties idea of radical individualism. In this time, the text argues that personal freedom
had been celebrated at the expense of social responsibility (World Literature, 169). The monkeys
now had responsibilities to attend to, likely with the king s instruction, when before they were
liable for little

International Bank For Reconstruction And Development
The World Bank was originally established in 1944 by 28 countries as the International Bank for
Reconstruction and Development with the aim of assisting and financing public development
projects. In 2015 the World Bank Group is an umbrella organization of five parts with 187 member
countries. While the Bank remains the largest such institution in operation, there are now so many
other similar institutions that there are four subcategories to describe them: Multilateral
Development Banks (used to describe the World Bank), Multilateral Financial Institutions, Sub

A main part of this project is the construction of the Kandadji Dam on the Niger River, which will
require the involuntary displacement of people living in the dam s footprint. Dam construction
has been delayed but investment in the area and services for the local population are already
shrinking, making it harder for the local affected population to maintain their standard of living.
But as dam construction has not yet started many residents are not entitled to any assistance or
relocation. This reveals the early stages of two problem areas, lack of understanding of the
second and third order effects projects will have on the local area and lack of follow through on
the World Bank s own policy standards about minimizing the harm for people affected by the
projects it supports.

Psychosocial Evaluation Essay
A psychosocial evaluation is usually conducted by a social worker and is designed to help the
individual s family plan for care. The social worker will discuss the emotional, physical, and
financial impact of Alzheimer s disease and guide family members through an evaluation of their
circumstances. Social workers can also help coordinate community services, suggest alternatives to
the person s present living arrangements, and provide a list of resources and locally available
services (Diagnosing).
The main goal of care at this point is to continue to support the individual to guarantee the highest
quality of life possible. The progressiveness of dementia means symptoms will eventually worsen

it is very rare to find a treatable condition other than depression in her book Younger People with
Dementia: Planning, Practice, and Development. Younger onset dementia happens when people
still expect to be healthy, active, independent on daily activities. Early onset stage is a more
active stage of life and individuals may not know the disease is active and may struggle with day

problem solving are likely to result in frustration, tension and anxiety. Making wrongful decisions

There are many different changes that happened to me in the past 5 years. Such changes change
the way of how I live and what happens to my life. Changes happen as you grow up, and there
are many factors that induce changes, whether it is from daily habits, social interactions,
influence from parents, and many more. In my case, I have probably changed the most due to
social influence and the environment around me. One of my most noticeable changes I the way I
think. From what I have noticed, the me of 5 years ago has a rather more close minded self,
compared to the me of today. I tend to do things in an impulsive manner without thinking much
about what is going to do to others. The second biggest change is probably my way of life and

The Resurrection Of Jesus Christ
When it comes to the resurrection of Jesus Christ there are many different theories on what
actually happened. As Christians we believe what is said in the Bible, but sometimes our minds
cannot help but wonder what if . The legitimacy of the Bible regarding the resurrection of Jesus has
been questioned time and again, what most do not realize is, there is proof that Jesusrose from the
grave. With the empty tomb, eyewitnesses and the changed lives of the Disciples, we are able to
prove that the resurrection of Jesusdid indeed happened.
The empty tomb could quite honestly be the strongest proof that Jesus resurrected from his
grave. Even Roman and Jewish tradition admits to the empty tomb. When Jesus was found by
the women to be resurrected the disciples did not go off to a far land to preach where it could
have been easy to lie about it. They went and preached in Jerusalem where Jesus died and was
buried. It was easy for everyone to go and verify that Jesus was indeed actually gone. If Jesus was
still there in the tomb, no one would have believed them. Paul Althaus writes, the resurrection
proclamation could not have been maintained in Jerusalem for a single day, for a single hour, if
the emptiness of the tomb had not been established as a fact for all concerned. Even with all of this
there are still a few theories that deny this. Some believe that they simply went to the wrong tomb.
If the women went to the wrong tomb, why did they not redirect them to the write

It was the 1917 a period after the World Wat I when the De Stijl art movement in Netherlands

Some of other most important component of the group we can find Piet Mondrian which was a
painter; Cornelis Van Eesteren which was an architect; and of course one of the main exponent
of the De Stijl architecture Gerrit Rietveld which was an architect. The De Stijl art movement
had just one goal: to make art that was as simple as possible. They wanted to purify art to
precision and perfection. Two important elements were composition and balance in their work,
making the De Stijl art movement influential in the next few decades of modern design and
modern architecture such as we can see in Le Corbusier or Mies Van De Rohe or in the
International Style. The De Stijl movement was theorized on the fundamental principles of the
simple geometry (such as straight lines, squares, and rectangles) with asymmetrical arrangements
as well as the use of true primary colors in tandem (such as blue, yellow, red, white and black).
Also the association between positive and negative. The goal of the movement in design was to
make simple things such as furniture and buildings a piece of art itself. It was a an abstract
movement with the idea of the form following function and the emphasis on the structural
components. Van Doesburg described the style by saying, The new architecture is anti cubic, i.e., it

Gender Stereotypes In A World Of Blindness By Jose Saramago
Perhaps only in a world of the blind will things be what they truly are (Saramago 114) quoted a
doctor struck with the disease called the white blindness. This quote demonstrates how when the
whole world is blind, humanity will be able to see each other for what they really are. Blindness,
by Jose Saramago, describes the journey of 7 unlucky people in a world gone blind by a milky
white sea. Led by the doctor s wife whose eyesight remains , they struggle to fit into society
where race, gender, religion, and class are no longer applicable. When humanity is equal and can
no longer see the differences among them, the true leaders of society are able to rise. Saramago

What Are Ethical Dilemma
TYPES OF ETHICAL DILEMMAS This concept was taken from module 7 ethical dilemmas ,
sub topic 1 understanding ethical dilemmas . Ethical dilemmas are situations in which there is a
choice to be made between two options, both of which are morally correct but other options are in
conflict. Choosing one of the option will result in transgressing against the other. Ethical dilemmas
are also known as moral dilemmas and it should be known that neither of the choices which
presents itself in this situation can resolve the situation in an ethically acceptable way. Nurses are

PERSONAL BELIEF: In these dilemmas, research based knowledge in nursing practice is
contrasted to beliefs gained from such things as religious beliefs. For example, what should a
nurse do when a patient is admitted to the hospital that desperately needs a transfusion to live but
has the belief that transfusions are unacceptable? The nurse knows this patient will die without the
transfusion. How does that nurse empathize with the patient s family who supports the family
member s choice and still be supportive of the patient s and family s right to this decision? There
are also dilemma of confidentiality where you are confused as to keep patient s information
private and risk causing harm to others or disclose patient s information and save the lives of
others. There are also dilemma of non maleficence which involves avoiding harm and also the
dilemma of fidelity which involves faithfulness and honoring promises made to patients even when
you have lots of other patients to attend to and keeping the promise seems impossible. PERSONAL

Chlh Greys Anatomy Essay
Ethics and the Media Project Greys Anatomy
Dilemma
For this Media Project, I chose to watch an episode of a Grey s Anatomy that contains a medical
ethics dilemma. I watched Season 2 of Grey s Anatomy, Episode 23 Blues for Sister Someone. In
this episode, a woman asks Dr. Addison Shepherd to clandestinely tie her fallopian tubes (tubal
ligation) while she gives birth to her 7th child through C section. She does not wish to have any
more children (seven is already a huge burden), but her devout Catholic husband does not allow
birth control. Hence, she pleads Addison to help end her childbearing abilities (tying her tubes
would be permanent birth control). She begs Dr. Shepherd to do the surgery in private so here is
no medical record ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One Perspective The perspective of the wife is that she has autonomy over her body and has the
right to decide whether or not she wants to continue having children. She already is exhausted
from her current six children; she has gone to the hospital from dehydration and exhaustion from
forgetting to drink water for 3 days because she was so busy taking care of her kids. With the
birth of this seventh child, she has had enough. She does not want to bear any more children. She
believes that God will understand her situation and her reasons for choosing and that she will be
forgiven for giving up her fertility.
Other Perspective On the other hand, her husband Chris is a devout Catholic that follows
everything that his religion insists. The Pope says that birth control is not allowed, so he is
against letting his wife take birth control. To a Catholic, they live to reproduce; hence you are not
supposed to use any form of contraception as a Catholic. Tying tubes is viewed as a form of
contraception. It s also important to consider the perspectives of the physicians involved with the
decision making process in this dilemma. From the perspective of Dr. Shephard, the patient is her
sole obligation and helping a patient get what they wish is important. On the other hand, her
associate Alex Karev is against tying the woman s tubes. He

Example Of A Diglossic Situation

Professor Washburn
Linguistics 115
7 December 2015Linguistics Final Project
A Diglossic Situation is where two varieties of a language co exist within one society or
community. Both varieties are used in this community and is used based on different situations.
Diglossic situations occur where both languages are either termed a high or low variety. Selecting
an official/national language can be difficult for a country that has many language and has had a
colonial past and can stir up social situation. An example of a diglossic situation is in India, where
there is a competition between the use of Hindi and English. This began nearly 175 years ago

This example can be seen as an diglossic situation because Hindi and English are two varieties of a
language that co exist within India and both languages have a determined high and low variety
where English is considered the high variety because of its use in government, education, business,
and entertainment and Hindi being the low variety because of its lower prestige.
A Race/Ethnicity Based Dialect is a characteristics of a particular group of language speakers
applying to their speech patterns based on their ethnic/cultural subgroup. An example of race
/ethnicity based dialect is standard Australian English. Australian English derived from British
English and was recognized as being different from British English in the early 1800s after founding
the colony of New South Wales. It is the dialect of Australian born citizens as well as migrants who
arrived during childhood ( Ethnocultural Voices ). The children of immigrant families in Australia
adopt the speech patterns of the country they reside in rather from their parents because of they
want to conform to their peers. Multiculturalism in Australia came from immigration from Asia and
the Middle East that contributes to Australia s vast cultural diversity and expression of cultural
identity in Australia. Australian born children are able to experience and embrace the cultural
heritage and express their identities through their Australian Ethnocultural dialects ( Ethnocultural
Voices ).

time. The three periods were the Eve of War, the War Years, and the Aftermath. The Eve of War

At the end of the war there were 16,602 more people in Franklin County than Augusta County.
There were 15, 289 more whites than blacks in Augusta and 40, 441 more in Franklin. Franklin s
farms were still worth about twice as much as Augusta s. Methodist churches were more
prevalent in Augusta and Reformed German churches in Franklin. Franklin also had more
manufacturing facilities in 1870 than Augusta. In the Freedom s Bureau record I read a letter to
Orlando Brown for help to transport a Black woman and her five children to a hospital because
she was poor and had no home. It s crazy to know how slow mail traveled from place to place
during that time period and how long, if at all, she had to wait to get help. I also read the letter
of Amelia from Augusta County to her brother. She was telling him of an eighty year old Indian
Man who came to her school telling stories of war and of life being a slave. She wrote that he was
a doctor of the colored people. From the Franklin County letters, I read Milton Crawford s letter

people where is mother was located were nothing compared to the poor people there. There was

The Relationship Between China s Economic Prosperity And...
To what extent is the relationship between China s economic prosperity and its population s quality
of life a positive one?
Introduction
For my research, I have decided to look into the relationship between China s economic prosperity
and its people s quality of life and produce a definitive answer on whether if the economic
prosperity really is all positives and no negatives.
My grandparents lived through the last decade of China s so called century of humiliation
(between 1839 and 1939), they experienced some of China s darkest times such as the Japanese
invasion and China s great leap forward which almost destroyed the country, but China always
fought back against fearful odds and after the economic reform in 1979, everything finally
seems to back on the normal tracks with China s GDP (sort of a measure of the economy) is
only second to US in 2015. With a steady supply of cheap and massive working class who could
manufacture goods at a relatively low cost, China was able to revive its economy using the
manufacturing power and that in turn has lifted over 800 million people out of poverty.
A good proportion of people in China are now regarded as middle class (a household with a third
of its income for discretionary spending) and with that, a few problems have also spawned such as
pollution and desertification, which will be touched on in this report.

The Deformity
The bright lights and unknown voices travelled around me. It surly wasn t the first time I had
experienced this, but it was the first time I could actually recognize what was going on. They tried
to ease my nervousness with their soothing words, but being so anxious nothing could soothe me.
It all started at birth. My deformity was nothing new to the medical world, but in my parent s eyes
it was something out of fiction. My feet were turned in like hockey sticks. In medical jargon it is
noted as club foot which is a perfect description. But of course my parents being who they are
dismissed my quark and accepted me and fell in love. This could be said about the rest of my
family too, but when they finally were able to conceive what was actually occurring they became
weary and quite sad, especially my grandfather. When he first picked me up he took me to the
corner seat of the hospital room and cried. But, his fear and sadness did come with love and
acceptance.
At the age of one I received my first surgery. Being June, the temperature was excruciating which
only made things worse for my casts and me. The sweat would drip down my legs and into the
crevasses where I could not reach. The moisture would sit in the cloth for days and my wounds
would itch tremendously. After the removal of the casts learning to walk was difficult, but being a
child it came quickly.
In elementary school the problem reoccurred and my ligaments began to shorten again. This was

Truman set on his journey to Europe for the Grand Alliance meeting between the three leading

Dr Strangelove is the more comical version of the issues at hand, involving the Cold War. The
filmmakers of Dr. Strangelove took the idea of this horrible bomb and projected it to be comical
and something that we should just accept. The subtitle of the movie How I learned to stop
worrying and love The Bomb was implying we shouldn t worry about nuclear bombs for the
reason that there is nothing an ordinary person, can do to stop it. The subtitle is a way of saying
that no one is really in control over the deployment of nuclear weapons. In Dr. Strangelove they
recognized that the Soviet Union had been working on a Doomsday device. An obsessive right
wing commander found a way to declare red alert, that lead to a domino effect of events that were
unstoppable resulting in mass destruction. At the beginning of the movie they placed a disclaimer
stating that the Air Force would prevent [this type of incident from happening, and that] none of
the characters portrayed in this film are meant to represent any real persons living or dead (Dr.
Strangelove, Or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb.) The male sex drive is what
seemed to influence many of the jokes that were portrayed throughout the movie. Characters were

A Brief Note On The And The Russian Conflict
Novorossiya is a confederation that emerged during and because of the current Ukrainian
Conflict. Also known as New Russia or Union of People s Republics, it consists of the self

May 2014 by the signing behind closed doors of the agreements between self appointed leaders of
the two People s Republics. Neither Donetsk People s Republic nor Luhansk People s Republic are

Looking back, once you add all of those factors, it seems that the emergence of the crisis should
not have come as any type of surprise, but it did. Although now, with foresight, it is easy to say
that the rise of the crisis was predictable and inevitable, no one, at the time, expected events to
develop as they did.
To be able to fully understand the purpose and the actions of the Novorossiya terrorist groups, one
must first understand what caused the Ukrainian Conflict to erupt and the many developments that
happened thereafter.
Ukrainian Russian relationship and history
Historically, Russia and Ukraine have had a close and complex relationship, which is important to
understand before making any type of judgments on why the current Conflict evolved as it did.
Although, it is wrong to say that this relationship had always been a peaceful one, the countries
have constantly been closely intervened.

when I was given the task where I got into a horrible situation. I was bitten by a wild dog on my
ankle. It was extremely painful and devastating. I wasn t able to walk for over a month. This

a faint cry in the distance. I didn t take much notice. I thought it is all in my head and that my
mind is playing tricks on me again. I ignored it and kept on working but no matter how hard I
tried, those voices didn t go away. Turning up the music volume seemed to work on blocking out
the noises. I finished my work and went to the kitchen to grab some water when I heard that cry
again, this time it was louder and more painful. Instead of looking for what it was and where it
was coming from my fears overpowered me and I went back to my room. I got in my bed and
tried to block the sounds by covering my head with a blanket. My conscious was not letting me

painful sound. I couldn t help but imagine the pain it must be in. the more I thought about it, I
wanted to help it. I was in a constant fight with my fears, but I thought that I wouldn t be able to

Apollo 11 Footprint Essay
The Most Important Footprint
Twenty Six year old Laura Polacek tucked her children into bed at 8:30 P.M. on an exceedingly
warm Sunday in July. The exact date was July 20th, 1969. Laura walked back into her cramped
living room to join her husband, sister, two cousins, and mother. The television was on Channel 3,
broadcasting the coverage of NASA s first Moon landing. Apollo 11had landed on the Moon s
surface at 8:18 P.M. Six hours later, Neil Armstrong emerged from the capsule at 2:38AM,
climbed down the modules latter and became the first man to place his foot on the moon. Laura
Polacek s recollection, nearly forty seven years after the fact, of this event is similar to those who
watched all over the world (Polacek). From July 16th to July 24th, 1969, six hundred million
people had their eyes on NASA; more specifically, Apollo 11 (Reed). For this time, this had been
the most people to watch a broadcasted event on television ever. A combination of strenuous
preparation and dedication made it possible for the United States to be the first country to put a
man on the moon. This milestone left a tremendous impact on not only the United States, but other
countries as well.

Contributions Of Ray Charles
They called him The Genius others called him the father of soul . His passionate vocal and
perfect pitch helped him combine worlds as diverse as jazz, country, rhythm and blues and
gospel, thus creating a new blend of music called Soul. This master creator was known as Ray,
Ray Charles. He used this new genre to address social and cultural issues of the great depression.
Ray Charles was born Ray Charles Robinson September 23rd 1930 in Albany, Georgia USA. He
lived in Georgia with his parents Aretha and Bailey for a couple of months before moving to
Aretha s hometown of Greenville, Florida. Here Ray lived most of his youth with his mother and

An Experiment Transpired Because Of A Fascination With...
This experiment transpired because of a fascination with basketball. In inches, the tested variable
was the basketball court surface that gave the basketball the most immense bounce. After testing
each surface, the data got averaged out, and based on the statistics, the multi purpose floor averaged
.7 inches more colossal than the hardwood, and 3.7 more than concrete.
Introduction
Playing basketball can be hard work. Players not only have to run around the court, but just
dribbling the basketball takes some serious effort, too. ( Surface Science: Where Does a
Basketball Bounce Best? ). Energy reserved inside the ball, transfers into Different types of
energy (ex. Heat, sound) when the ball hits the ground. But, which type of court restores the
most energy back into the ball? Wood, multi purpose, and concrete are the three types of court
surfaces being experimented on. All professional and collegiate leagues use hardwood court for
their basketball games. (Lorelie). There s logic in why they use them. For example, Wood courts
got referred to as one of the softest courts. Concrete surfaces got researched too. These are the
most popular types of surfaces for outdoor basketball courts. In fact, nearly all who play
basketball starts playing on concrete or asphalt court. (Lorelie). This shows, they must be popular
for their spring, and for being compact and durable. Multi purpose floor got researched last,
because it s little rarer than the other floorings. They have a

Financial Ratios Analysis Of Microsoft Corporation
Over the years, Microsoft Corporation has been developing and supporting numerous software
products for various computing devices worldwide. As stated by Liquori (2011), [This] enables
business innovation and helps builds the company s competitive advantage (n.d). Microsoft s
technical innovations and leadership in consumer and corporate markets has made it a formidable
competitor in this information age (liquor, 2011). Throughout this paper, I will provide financial
ratiosanalysis of Microsoft Corporation based on the available financial data for the last five years.
According to Brigham and Houston (2004) the liquidity ratio shows how a firm meet its short term
obligations using assets that could be converted into cash in a short period of time. These liquid
assets are listed in the balance sheet as current assets. They are used to meet current liabilities.
Now, the question is how much liquidity a firm must have? Well, this all depends on the role of
the operating cycle. This is the time it takes to invest in firm s products and services to the time
when investment generates cash. The net operating cycle is the duration of time it takes to convert
an investment of cash in inventory and back into cash. So, the number of days a firm holds its
fund in inventory is calculated by the following formula: The inventory turnover ratio of the
Microsoft Corporation for the last five years is shown in the table below.

Inequalities In European Culture
Inequality has been an issue from the dawn of time. All throughout history we can see prime
examples of this. World war two and the german invasion, The Spanish and the Incas, and the
most well known example, today. But few people have ever asked why it s always been this way.
Europe had geography on it s side, giving them agricultural advantages, helping them to
domesticate animals (and in turn, building resistance to disease) leading to a surplus of food for
specialists to invent and experiment. Finally, that led to the decimation of other cultures, and the
appropriation of their resources. Geography affects climate which in turn controls what crops can
grow in an area and if or how they feed, power, and ultimately drive a community. Papua... Show

Steel was the turning point for Europe, setting their destiny in stone, and securing their chance at
world domination. Europe had this beautiful collection of resources. Their most notable was their
surplus of food and domesticated animals that gave them time. Time that was used by specialists.
Focusing on the Spanish who, thanks to their latitude, could create roaring hot fires and with a
supply of iron, their specialists could create steel. But looking at the Incas, they had the time and
climate, however, they were lacking in iron. Thus, steel was not created in the Incan empire. So
with steel, the Spanish soared ahead, creating tools, weapons, vessels for travel overseas, and the
plow, which allowed for even more time and in turn, more specialists. Because the Inca didn t
have steel, they had to rely on stone tools and their single domesticated animal, the llama. Without
steel, we wouldn t be anywhere near where we are today. Steel allowed for civilizations to sail,

The Importance Of Power Diasipation In Design Circuits
In the past, density and frequency were low enough and never acted like a constraint on the
chip. But as the scale of integration improved, the number of transistors being packed onto a
chip has increased. This lead to the increase of the operating frequency and processing capacity
of the chip and thus resulting in power dissipation. As a result, power efficiency is considered as
a design goal along with performance. Despite this acceptance, low power design methodologies
are adopted at a slow pace because of the effort that must be into at the abstraction level and at each
phase of the design. Initially, circuits were designed targeting the performance of the device. The
cost associated with installing fans, packing and cooling of such... Show more content on

4.1.1 Switching Power This arises when the energy is drawn from the power supply to charge
parasitic capacitors Figure 4.1 Circuit for computing switching power of a CMOS gate [28] The
energy stored in the output load capacitance is given by Ecap=1/2CL.VDD2(4.2) where CL is
the load capacitance. For the transition from 0 VDD, the capacitor stores half of the energy
drawn from the power supply and the other half is dissipated in the PMOS network. For the
transition VDD 0, no charge is drawn from the supply and the energy stored in the capacitor i.e 1
/2CL.VDD2 is dissipated in the NMOS network. 4.1.2 Short circuit Power The switching
component of power is independent of the rise and fall time of the logic gates. However, the
finite rise and fall times of the input waveforms result in a direct current path between VDD and
GND for a short period of time and both PMOS and NMOS devices are ON. Such kind of
behaviour leads to incorrect evaluations. Pshort circuit= пЃў/2(V_DD гЂ–2VгЂ—_t)3пЃґ/T_clk

eliminated if the supply is lowered to a value below the sum of the thresholds of the transistors.

Comparing Ganymede In Barnfield s Hero And Leander
Ganymede is used as a point of comparison for characters in both Barnfield s Affectionate
Shepherd and Marlowe s Hero and Leander. Ganymede s name can be used to stress how
beautiful a character is as well as present them as a homoerotic character. In this two particular
texts, Ganymede s name is used to present the characters he is compared to as more beautiful than
him and as objects of homoerotic desire who are, despite this, not necessarily homoerotic
themselves. This brings to question Ganymede s control over his, and the characters he is
compared to, life as well as how using his name effects not only the characters but the overall
meaning of the text. Ganymede is supposed to be an exceptionally beautiful character, and because
of this,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this way, the writer used Ganymede s name on top of descriptions to stress just how beautiful
the boy is. The idea of the beloved being more beautiful than Ganymede can also be seen in Hero
and Leander. As soon as Leander jumps naked into the narrow, Neptune sees him and instantly
becomes both sexually aroused and convinced that this man is Ganymede (639 644). Neptune
only discovers that this man is not Ganymede when he almost drowns. In this case, not only is
the character Leander so beautiful that he could be Ganymede, but Neptune transfers his love
onto Leander most likely because of his similarities to Ganymede. Choosing to move his desires
to Leander presents the idea that he is in some way more desirable than the real Ganymede, and
this could possibly be because of his appearance. In both cases, the character Ganymede is
presented as a figure of beauty who, when used as an ideal, presents a level of beauty that can only
be achieved by few. Because of their beauty, both character have to deal with undesired attention
from other male characters that make them into the homoerotic character. By making the characters
as beautiful as Ganymede, the writers also make the characters more desirable to others including
men.

Ideologies and How They Impact Policy Making Essays
Essay Question: What are ideologies and how do they impact upon policy making?
Ideologies refer to a set of ideas and values that provides a base for organised political action.
They justify and influence the different theories of society and human nature. Ideologies have a
big impact on policy making, as the government of the day will base their policies around these
political ideologies. The two major political parties in New Zealand, National and Labour, each
have different beliefs and values which lead to different ideologies. Looking at both parties
previous and current policies, we can observe the impact of the ideologies they have adopted on
their policy making. The National party in the last 20 years has driven policies from a ... Show more

Neo liberalism has had the greatest impact on public policy in New Zealand over the past 20
years. An example of this ideology in policy making in New Zealand history would be The
National party in the 1990 s. National significantly reduced the state s role in the labour market,
and introduced markets in public housing and education. A more recent example is the current
National government and their benefits policy. In 2008 National focussed on getting beneficiaries
into employment. National s leader John Key announced that they were committing to a benefit
policy that would act as a safety net, but encourage beneficiaries to go out and source other forms
of income (Key, 2008). This is a neo liberal idea in the sense of having minimal state intervention.
The plan to put in place a tax system that encourages people to work hard and not rely on the
welfare state, and the continuing of shrinking the size of government sees that the future intentions
of the current National party is going to carry on down a neo liberal road (Key, 2008).
Social democracy is a political ideology which embraces both socialism and liberalism (Belgrave,
Cheyne, amp; O Brien, 2008). It is not a tightly sealed set of political values and beliefs, but a set
of several. Social democracy contrasts with the ideology of neo liberalism by identifying market
failure rather than government intervention (Eichbaum amp; Shaw, 2008); this is why it stands for

long term hostility existing in Spain between the conservative and liberal political parties in Spain.
The conservative party is the more close minded Spaniards while the liberal party is more open
minded Spaniards. Spainis split roughly 50:50 between the two parties. The split is one of the
most critical aspects in the Spanish history. If one does not know about the Two Spains, one does

There was never a good war, or a bad peace. said Benjamin Franklin, showing the importance of
peace and unnecessariness of war. The songs are the symbol of sadness, love, desire, sorrow,

Theme Of The Signalman
The extract begins with a conversation between the narrator and the signalman. The signalman is
disturbed as he confides in the narrator, voicing his worries what does the specter mean? The
narrator himself is also clueless, as he begins to doubt the logical reasoning and sanity of the
signalman, therefore in this manner dickens continues to build the suspense leading towards the
story s climax, creating an air of confusion and mistrust in the process.
The signalman, in an increasingly desperate tone, continues to voice his worries. His constant
string of questions indeed shows how deeply horrified he is at the thought of the foreshadowed
dreadful calamity that is to occur. Dickens also weaves in a sense of helplessness, as the signalman
has no way or power to stop the events from occurring and this thought has made him deeply
paranoid.

the true extent of his trouble. It also alludes to the main overall plot of the story as the ... Show more

Technology And Its Effect On Technology

some form of technologydevice. I m willing to bet that you have at least two of these devices in

day. As a result of the growing need for technological devices, we have become dependent on
technology in the work place and school, for social media, and simple daily functions that we
should be able to manage on our own. In the majority of businesses and many educational

decision is to cancel upcoming events, appointments, or other scheduled activities for the day

Hydrocarbon Dew Point Of The Natural Gas Industry Essay
Abstract:
Hydrocarbon Dew Point has always been a vital operational parameter and but it is becoming a
critical tariff parameter for the natural gas industry.
Hydrocarbon Dew Point considered as quality parameter for natural gas.
Dew point control is one of the most important operations at the beginning of the gas processing
chain.
Its main purpose is to ensure that liquids (either hydrocarbons or water) are not formed in the
pipelines to allow a safe and reliable transportation of the gas to markets.
The by product liquids recovered could be used as fuel, or alternatively stabilized and Marketed as
condensate.
The knowledge of the hydrocarbon dew point (HCDP) is of great importance for the oil and gas
industry as it is one of the gas quality specifications used for ensuring safe transport of natural gas.
Avoiding hydrocarbon condensation is crucial as the presence of liquids in the pipelines increases
the pressure drop and introduces operational problems in pipelines designed for single phase
transportation. Thus, accurate measurement and prediction of hydrocarbon dew points are of great
importance to obtain a safe and effective utilization of the natural gas pipelines.
Introduction:
Hydrocarbon dew point is defined in the International Standard Organization (ISO) 11150: 2007
and ISO 14532: 2005 as the:
Temperature above which no condensation of hydrocarbons occurs at a specified pressure.

I believe this little ordeal made Walt realize his passion and creativity in art, and interest in
setting the bar high for the rest of his life. Immediately after, Walt s interest in the arts made his
determination unveil, for the second time Walt beat his disability, Walt set a goal for himself.
Walt s triumph against his disability caused him to peruse and follow through with his passion
for art. Walt s goal was eventually reached, when he got the acceptance letter in the mail to
attend McKinley High School in Chicago, studying art and photography. I feel personally that
doing something of such importance like overcoming a disability even if only two minor times,
but in Walt s case, two major times would set incentive for me to always try as hard as I could
and be determined to do what I wanted to, and so did Walt. At the end of Walt s high school
glory days Walt in his third feat of defeating dyslexia set a goal and was determined to reach it.
The goal was to serve his country. At first Walt enlisted to the military to serve, unfortunately, he
was rejected because of his age. No, that didn t stop Walt, he wasn t going to be put down that

Cultural Safety In Indigenous Australia
Three Wiki assignments helped to correct misunderstanding and lack of knowledge about
indigenous people and culture; moreover, it was time to think about how cultural safety could
affect nursing practice.
Cultural Safety
Williams (1999, p. 213) states that cultural safety is a safe environment for people; that is, respect

Stolen generation
The Australian government has created and implemented many policies to create a united White
Australia until the 1960s. Most significant history issue is Stolen generation , which was
implemented from 1910 to the late 1970s. This policy is serious trauma to all generations of
Aboriginal peoples and still effect on them (Korff 2017b; Murphy 2011, p. 482). Many assimilation
policies have focused a great deal on children because the government thought that children could
easily adapt white culture. The children who were taken live in missionary camp or some children
were adopted by European family. They learned Western culture and English forcefully, and the
government tried to get rid of indigenous culture from them. In addition, they banned children from
using their traditional songs or languages. In fact, children who have been educated so long time
have forgotten all about the indigenous cultures and language (Australians togetherr n.d.). Stolen
children and their families are still struggle with past mismanagement and discrimination;

Machiavelli s The Prince And Leviathan
Although misunderstood when introduced to society during their time, Niccolo Machiavelli s
The Prince and Thomas Hobbes Leviathan have been two of the most influential political works
in history. The Prince and Leviathan, although seen as immoral and almost wicked works of
their time, have guided many political thinkers, even America s own Thomas Jefferson, on the
subject of governance and power. This paper will compare the similarities and differences
between both works in terms of the historical settings in which they were written as well as
between the two distinct political philosophies presented by each man. More specifically, this
paper will differentiate the purpose of power between Machiavelli s theory of an absolute ruler
separated from morals and ethics compared to Hobbes reasoning for a necessary and absolute ruler
to put an end to the chaotic state of nature he presents.
Identification of Documents
The Prince, written by Niccolo Machiavelli in 1513 in his native Italian language, was a book
dedicated to Florence s then leader Lorenzo de Medici in an effort for Machiavelli to gain a
position in Florence s new government. The book was intended to help guide Lorenzo and other
present and future leaders in gaining and maintaining power, more specifically to aid Lorenzo in
unifying Italy under one ruler. Machiavelli lived during a time of great political strife in Italy as
the small city states of Italy, the Papal States, and the powerful states of Spain and

Linda De Pauw s contribution of Land of the Unfree: Legal Limitations on Liberty in Revolutionary
America , written in a gender method discusses the slavery issue that was carefully overlooked
during the time that the Declaration of Independence was composed by Thomas Jefferson. De
Pauw discusses the irony of the colonists as they fought for their independence at the same time
maintaining the enslavement of the majority of the colonies population. Her article dared to voice
the unspoken notion that previous historians carefully avoided the issues of slavery. During this
time there was enslavements of both blacks and whites, however, there was different legal
restrictions for each classification of color.
De Pauw, discusses the majority and minority statistics, reflecting the gender history of the
population of the thirteen colonies during this time. Statistics shows the majority of the population
were indeed the less fortunate enslaved blacks, indentured white males and all females. Ironically
the minority numbers were the actual white males that pursued the liberty of this nation. De Pauw
proceeds to analyze the psychological legal ramifications of the majority of the population. She
discusses the legal status, traditions and practices that failed to provide the same liberties to all

  • 2. Literary Analysis Of Randall Jarrell Almost as important as the content, is the form an author chooses to express their stories. From poetry to novels, writing form helps shape a reader s experience. The Death of the Ball Turret Gunner , is the perfect example of how a poem s form reinforces its content. The author, Randall Jarrell, leaves much to the readers imagination. Jarrell is descriptive and vague at the same time. This style is no accident and helps convey more to the readers than the surface level of the text. Making the readers think and question the truth behind any war and telling a story people aren t used to reading. 1 In class, we ve discussed Kate McLoughlin s ideas for how to write the best war literature. Kate McLoughlin helped write and edit The Cambridge Companion to War Writing. In her writing, McLoughlin discusses the difficulties of war literature, and how words can t capture the true complexity of war. McLoughlin describes war as a massive and complex phenomenon and goes on to say literature of any type cannot accurately capture war. This is especially true of war on a global scale that spans years. To solve this problem, McLoughlin suggests that writing less and leaving certain aspects to the reader s imagination can be beneficial. 2 Randall Jarrell s style seems in line with McLoughlin s views on how to write proper war literature. This lack of detail is what made his poem, one of the more compelling readings so far. Leaving the reader to imagine what the gunner is experiencing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Wu Cheng s The Journey To The West Chapter one of Wu Cheng en s classical story, The Journey to the West, introduces the main character, Monkey, by providing background information about his origin and early life. Monkey lived equally along with gibbons and baboons who he considered his kin until he was appointed to king of the Blessed Land of Flower Fruit Mountain. This transition from an unstructured, free will society to an orderly kingdom portrays the social changes humans experienced when dynasties arose in civilization. After Monkey gained the title of king, certain changes occurred. Immediately after he claimed the position, his peers lined up according to rank and age , praising Monkey by chanting, long live our great king (Cheng en, 177). The recently equal group... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Prior to Monkey becoming king, a poem in the beginning of the chapter claims they played two games or three with pebbles and with pellets; they circled sandy pits, they built rare pagodas, they chased dragonflies.... which are activities that allowed the population to live in a carefree, playful environment (Cheng en, 174). After Monkey became king, their activities depended on the season, which another poem portrays; In the spring they gathered flowers for food and drink. In the summer they went in quest of fruits for sustenance. In the autumn they amassed taros and chestnuts to ward off time. In the winter they searched for yellow sperms to live out the year (Cheng en, 178). The newly civilized, ruled monkeys no longer roamed aimlessly playing with one another, but had jobs that would ensure their survival. This societal change is also reflected in the late Ming dynasties idea of radical individualism. In this time, the text argues that personal freedom had been celebrated at the expense of social responsibility (World Literature, 169). The monkeys now had responsibilities to attend to, likely with the king s instruction, when before they were liable for little ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Dam construction has been delayed but investment in the area and services for the local population are already shrinking, making it harder for the local affected population to maintain their standard of living. But as dam construction has not yet started many residents are not entitled to any assistance or relocation. This reveals the early stages of two problem areas, lack of understanding of the second and third order effects projects will have on the local area and lack of follow through on the World Bank s own policy standards about minimizing the harm for people affected by the projects it supports. • 10. The Resurrection Of Jesus Christ When it comes to the resurrection of Jesus Christ there are many different theories on what actually happened. As Christians we believe what is said in the Bible, but sometimes our minds cannot help but wonder what if . The legitimacy of the Bible regarding the resurrection of Jesus has been questioned time and again, what most do not realize is, there is proof that Jesusrose from the grave. With the empty tomb, eyewitnesses and the changed lives of the Disciples, we are able to prove that the resurrection of Jesusdid indeed happened. The empty tomb could quite honestly be the strongest proof that Jesus resurrected from his grave. Even Roman and Jewish tradition admits to the empty tomb. When Jesus was found by the women to be resurrected the disciples did not go off to a far land to preach where it could have been easy to lie about it. They went and preached in Jerusalem where Jesus died and was buried. It was easy for everyone to go and verify that Jesus was indeed actually gone. If Jesus was still there in the tomb, no one would have believed them. Paul Althaus writes, the resurrection proclamation could not have been maintained in Jerusalem for a single day, for a single hour, if the emptiness of the tomb had not been established as a fact for all concerned. Even with all of this there are still a few theories that deny this. Some believe that they simply went to the wrong tomb. Two important elements were composition and balance in their work, making the De Stijl art movement influential in the next few decades of modern design and modern architecture such as we can see in Le Corbusier or Mies Van De Rohe or in the International Style. The De Stijl movement was theorized on the fundamental principles of the simple geometry (such as straight lines, squares, and rectangles) with asymmetrical arrangements as well as the use of true primary colors in tandem (such as blue, yellow, red, white and black). Also the association between positive and negative. The goal of the movement in design was to make simple things such as furniture and buildings a piece of art itself. Ethical dilemmas are situations in which there is a choice to be made between two options, both of which are morally correct but other options are in conflict. She does not wish to have any more children (seven is already a huge burden), but her devout Catholic husband does not allow birth control. With the birth of this seventh child, she has had enough. She does not want to bear any more children. She believes that God will understand her situation and her reasons for choosing and that she will be forgiven for giving up her fertility. The Pope says that birth control is not allowed, so he is against letting his wife take birth control. To a Catholic, they live to reproduce; hence you are not supposed to use any form of contraception as a Catholic. Tying tubes is viewed as a form of contraception. Introduction For my research, I have decided to look into the relationship between China s economic prosperity and its people s quality of life and produce a definitive answer on whether if the economic prosperity really is all positives and no negatives. My grandparents lived through the last decade of China s so called century of humiliation (between 1839 and 1939), they experienced some of China s darkest times such as the Japanese invasion and China s great leap forward which almost destroyed the country, but China always fought back against fearful odds and after the economic reform in 1979, everything finally seems to back on the normal tracks with China s GDP (sort of a measure of the economy) is only second to US in 2015. With a steady supply of cheap and massive working class who could manufacture goods at a relatively low cost, China was able to revive its economy using the manufacturing power and that in turn has lifted over 800 million people out of poverty. A good proportion of people in China are now regarded as middle class (a household with a third of its income for discretionary spending) and with that, a few problems have also spawned such as pollution and desertification, which will be touched on in this report. The subtitle is a way of saying that no one is really in control over the deployment of nuclear weapons. In Dr. Strangelove they recognized that the Soviet Union had been working on a Doomsday device. An obsessive right wing commander found a way to declare red alert, that lead to a domino effect of events that were unstoppable resulting in mass destruction. Also known as New Russia or Union of People s Republics, it consists of the self proclaimed Donetsk People s Republic and Luhansk People s Republic. It was founded on 24 May 2014 by the signing behind closed doors of the agreements between self appointed leaders of the two People s Republics. Neither Donetsk People s Republic nor Luhansk People s Republic are recognized as a sovereign states by any country or intergovernmental organizations and institutions. Although now, with foresight, it is easy to say that the rise of the crisis was predictable and inevitable, no one, at the time, expected events to develop as they did. To be able to fully understand the purpose and the actions of the Novorossiya terrorist groups, one must first understand what caused the Ukrainian Conflict to erupt and the many developments that happened thereafter. Ukrainian Russian relationship and history Historically, Russia and Ukraine have had a close and complex relationship, which is important to understand before making any type of judgments on why the current Conflict evolved as it did. The exact date was July 20th, 1969. Laura walked back into her cramped living room to join her husband, sister, two cousins, and mother. The television was on Channel 3, broadcasting the coverage of NASA s first Moon landing. Apollo 11had landed on the Moon s surface at 8:18 P.M. Six hours later, Neil Armstrong emerged from the capsule at 2:38AM, climbed down the modules latter and became the first man to place his foot on the moon. Laura Polacek s recollection, nearly forty seven years after the fact, of this event is similar to those who watched all over the world (Polacek). From July 16th to July 24th, 1969, six hundred million people had their eyes on NASA; more specifically, Apollo 11 (Reed). For this time, this had been the most people to watch a broadcasted event on television ever. A combination of strenuous preparation and dedication made it possible for the United States to be the first country to put a man on the moon. But, which type of court restores the most energy back into the ball? Wood, multi purpose, and concrete are the three types of court surfaces being experimented on. All professional and collegiate leagues use hardwood court for their basketball games. (Lorelie). There s logic in why they use them. For example, Wood courts got referred to as one of the softest courts. Concrete surfaces got researched too. These are the most popular types of surfaces for outdoor basketball courts. As stated by Liquori (2011), [This] enables business innovation and helps builds the company s competitive advantage (n.d). Microsoft s technical innovations and leadership in consumer and corporate markets has made it a formidable competitor in this information age (liquor, 2011). Throughout this paper, I will provide financial ratiosanalysis of Microsoft Corporation based on the available financial data for the last five years. According to Brigham and Houston (2004) the liquidity ratio shows how a firm meet its short term obligations using assets that could be converted into cash in a short period of time. These liquid assets are listed in the balance sheet as current assets. They are used to meet current liabilities. Now, the question is how much liquidity a firm must have? Well, this all depends on the role of the operating cycle. This is the time it takes to invest in firm s products and services to the time when investment generates cash. The net operating cycle is the duration of time it takes to convert an investment of cash in inventory and back into cash. So, the number of days a firm holds its fund in inventory is calculated by the following formula: The inventory turnover ratio of the Microsoft Corporation for the last five years is shown in the table below. World war two and the german invasion, The Spanish and the Incas, and the most well known example, today. But few people have ever asked why it s always been this way. Europe had geography on it s side, giving them agricultural advantages, helping them to domesticate animals (and in turn, building resistance to disease) leading to a surplus of food for specialists to invent and experiment. Finally, that led to the decimation of other cultures, and the appropriation of their resources. But looking at the Incas, they had the time and climate, however, they were lacking in iron. Thus, steel was not created in the Incan empire. So with steel, the Spanish soared ahead, creating tools, weapons, vessels for travel overseas, and the plow, which allowed for even more time and in turn, more specialists. But as the scale of integration improved, the number of transistors being packed onto a chip has increased. This lead to the increase of the operating frequency and processing capacity of the chip and thus resulting in power dissipation. As a result, power efficiency is considered as a design goal along with performance. Despite this acceptance, low power design methodologies are adopted at a slow pace because of the effort that must be into at the abstraction level and at each phase of the design. Initially, circuits were designed targeting the performance of the device. The cost associated with installing fans, packing and cooling of such... In this two particular texts, Ganymede s name is used to present the characters he is compared to as more beautiful than him and as objects of homoerotic desire who are, despite this, not necessarily homoerotic themselves. Neptune only discovers that this man is not Ganymede when he almost drowns. In this case, not only is the character Leander so beautiful that he could be Ganymede, but Neptune transfers his love onto Leander most likely because of his similarities to Ganymede. Choosing to move his desires to Leander presents the idea that he is in some way more desirable than the real Ganymede, and this could possibly be because of his appearance. In both cases, the character Ganymede is presented as a figure of beauty who, when used as an ideal, presents a level of beauty that can only be achieved by few. A more recent example is the current National government and their benefits policy. In 2008 National focussed on getting beneficiaries into employment. National s leader John Key announced that they were committing to a benefit policy that would act as a safety net, but encourage beneficiaries to go out and source other forms of income (Key, 2008). This is a neo liberal idea in the sense of having minimal state intervention. The plan to put in place a tax system that encourages people to work hard and not rely on the welfare state, and the continuing of shrinking the size of government sees that the future intentions of the current National party is going to carry on down a neo liberal road (Key, 2008).
