Society is required to take action to maintain order against crime, they claim. If society did not
practice justice, then people would be free to do whatever they wished. It would be anarchy and a
disaster. The more debatable argument is that victims families suffer without capital punishment.
They are forced not only to live with the thought of their deceased loved one, but also to constantly
confront the thought that the person who caused their pain is still alive. Olga Polites, a New
Jersey teacher, was strictly opposed to the death penalty until her husband s cousin was murdered.
Her anger caused her to change her views entirely (23 25). She, like others who support capital
punishment, believes that revenge is the panacea for her pain.

murdered on August 20th, 1940 by Ramon Mercader. Bronstein was a Russian marxist who went

Ghazali provides an approach in which humans gain the most knowledge of the divine because
knowledge based belief combines a necessary personal journey and faith in the divine when
human intellect can only go so far. I will outline this argument by looking at what each author
defines as knowledge of the divine, how he sees this divine affecting human life, and why this
argument is either persuasive or non persuasive using Ghazali as a base to refute and/or support

Lobbying is a way for self interest groups to persuade the outcomes of policies through discussions
and research. Thurber, James PHD in political science, director and founder of the Center for
Congressional and Presidential Studies and a distinguished Professor at the Public Affairs American
University, acknowledges in his research paper President Obama, Congress and the Battle with
Interest Groups and Lobbyists identifies lobbying as fundamentally [able to] influence the way

poured into politics to persuade decisions. Not only from U.S. interests, but foreign interest groups
are pouring millions of dollars into American lobbying groups to persuade U.S. policies that affect
millions of American citizens nation wide. Many lobbying groups give foreign investors whose
interests do not coincide with the American citizens, a vehicle to influence U.S. domestic policies.
