Analysis Of O Brother, Where Art Thou
Introduction
Recession is when a neighbor loses his job, depression is when you lose your job Ronald
Reagan. Recession is only a temporary decline and depression is a long and extended period of
economic failure. There was a crisis in America during the time period the movie O Brother, Where
Art Thou? was based on. The Great Depression was occurring at that time and the characters in this
movie reflected and showed was it was like to live in a time like that. Each character in the movie
symbolized what an individual person would have went through during the Great Depression.
In this paper, I will discuss how the economy went from good to bad and how the characters in O
Brother, Where Art Thou? symbolize these things. The characters,... Show more content on

Still in their shackles, Everett takes them on this long journey that shows who each of these
characters really are and what they represent. And so, goes the story of O Brother, Where Art Thou?
Historical Context
This movie is based on the time period of the 1930 s. The Great Depression was in action during
this time period. According to history.com, more than fifteen million Americans were
unemployed after the stock market crash of October 29, 1929. President Hoover was in office
at the time and didn t do much to overcome the predicament. Hoover announced that we would
need patience and self reliance to overcome this. In 1932 the crime rate in Washington was at its
all time high and parole board had the most applicants it has ever had according to Professor
Carl Murchison. Seattle Post Intelligencer reported that unemployment drove people to want to
end their lives during the Great Depression. During that time in King county, there was 190
suicides and even more suicide attempts. People felt that the was no escaping this financial
struggle and thought the only way out of it was to end their lives. There was also an increase in
robberies. People would steal money from their own workplace. People would take money from
graves, burry people alive and take their jewelry, you name it. With the economy being at its lowest
point, people were taking or getting money wherever they could.
The characters in the movie showed they were living in a time of poverty. Pete s family

The Plight Of The Taong Grasa
According to the research done by numbmusique, there are two distinctions that characterize of
becoming and experiencing to become a Taong Grasa: insane and unsanitary (numbmusique

Ian Ramos in his book The Plight of the Taong Grasa: Human Rights and the Insane, Taong
Grasa... it is a derisive term in Filipino slang used to refer to individuals occasionally seen
wandering aimlessly on the streets, clothed in the dirtiest of rags, and covered in enough grime to

Pros And Cons Of Cyber Warfare
3.1 Cyber Warfare
Richard A. Clark, an expert in security sector governance in his book Cyber War (May 2010),
defines Cyber War as an act of penetration of a country against other computer network with the
intent of causing damage and disruption. The Economist magazine explained that cyber war is the
fifth domain of warfare, after land, sea, air and space. Cyber warfare, (also known as cyber war and
Cyber warfare), is a war with the use of computer networks and the Internet in cyberspace (cyber
space) in the form of defense and attack information. Cyber warfare is also known as cyber
warfare refers to the use of the World Wide Web and computer to conduct warfare in cyberspace.
Although sometimes relatively minimal and lightweight, so far cyber warfare could potentially
cause a serious loss of data and information systems, military activity and other service disruptions,
cyber warfare means can pose as disaster risk worldwide.

Why A College Education Should Be Free
Foundations of Writing
Argument Paper
Aby Adams
Why Education should be free Everyone needs education if they plan to go anywhere in their
future. Even as teenagers, education is so important. It prepares teenagers for their future and
college education. But it is so expensive. Once one graduates from high school they re off on their
own paying their own expenses on top of all the college education expenses. Education is so
expensive, especially in today s world. So why is it not free yet? First off, if education was free,
college students wouldn t be in so much debt. The average college student graduates college with
$60,000 in debt. Today college students are highly in debt, and some are in debt for the rest of
their lives. Just from

Morton Thiokoling
Mr. Ebeling never recovered from the disaster, I ve been under terrible stress since the accident,
he told The Houston Chronicle in 1987. I have headaches. I cry. I have bad dreams. I go into a
hypnotic trance almost daily. He soon left Thiokol and the engineering profession. For the rest of
his life he faulted himself for not doing enough to prevent the launch (Grimes p.2). Robert Ebeling
was one of the Morton Thiokol engineers who knew that the Challenger space shuttlewould
explode. The Challenger disaster occurred in 1986, and in the early 1980s, earlier versions of the
shuttle had been launched. There were signs of problems with the O rings, but they were never
resolved, resulting in a catastrophe. Engineers from Morton Thiokol,... Show more content on

The two most important seals are O rings, essentially large doughnut shaped pieces of synthetic
rubber that fill the tiny gap between two cylindrical segments that are bolted together. The O
rings are themselves protected from heat and flame damage by an initial barrier of putty (Boffey
p.2). O rings are designed to be tight to ensure that gases do not leak through them, so they
themselves must be protected from heat. Robert Ebeling knew that the rubber O rings that were
supposed to seal the joints between the booster rocket s segments would not perform well in cold
weather, and Florida was about to launch the shuttle in temperatures more than 30 degrees lower
than any previous launch (Grimes p.1). This seemingly minor piece would affect the entire shuttle
if there was even the slightest malfunction. O rings that are unable to seal the joints would create
leaks, eventually leading to a disaster. The critical problem, it added, was that rotational forces
generated as pressure builds up within the rocket caused a lifting off or unseating of the secondary
ring, a problem which has been known for quite some time. One proposal for eliminating this
problem, the memorandum said was a capture feature, not otherwise described, which would
prevent the seal from lifting off (Boffey p.4). A report stated that the secondary or backup ring for

Why Are We Illegalize Drugs
In 2009 alone, the United States Customs and Border Protection seized 135,943 pounds of cocaine,
2,015 pounds of heroin, 4,330,475 pounds of marijuana and 6,135 pounds of methamphetamines.
That is all the drugs that were intercepted; there are much more that get through the borders into the
United States. Although the amount of marijuana is large, the United Statesis the largest consumer
of cocaine which is illegally transported from Colombia through Mexico and the Caribbean. The
illegal trafficking of drugs into the United States has causes many problems such as turf wars, gun
wars, police conflict and civilian retaliation. In Florida, twenty six people were indicted during a

Upon examining the incident, the Mexican and United States government came to the

squirt guns against their big guns and they want to own our turf (Mendoza). Stopping them is a
matter of life and death for our citizens, we need to keep our citizens safe by stopping them by
any means possible. These effects of illegal trafficking of drugs have negatively affected those who
are surrounded by it. The government should increase military spending in certain areas of the
budget to defend its country against illegal drug traffickers and the trouble they

Benefits Of Illegal Migrant Workers
Once working in the U.S., undocumented migrant laborers are perfectly exploitable. Because they
are not citizens or on work visas, they essentially have no rights in the minds of some farms. Farms
may provide poor quality housing, but no other work benefits. Agriculture doesn t have to pay
hourly minimum wage, so instead workers are paid by piece rate: employment in which a worker
is paid a fixed rate for each unit produced no matter the time invested. In some areas, farms make
it appear that they are paying laborers minimum wage by requiring laborers to pick enough
produce to equal a full day s pay. Over exhaustion induced by this is typically untreated because
of the lack of proper medical care available to migrant workers; either because of personal funds,
or ignorant lenses through which doctors view Mexican migrant patients (Holmes, 2013, p. 113).
Then if a laborer expresses any issues to their employers, employers will use the labor s
undocumented status against them. Essentially, they ll threaten the laborer with deportation if the
laborer were to make any action against the farm because of labor rights violations first hand
manipulation of the social divides of labor.
Yet, if the conditions of this job are so poor, and the laborers severely exploited, why do people
still choose to make the dangerous journey? The answer is documented in Fresh Fruit, Broken
Bodies by Seth Holmes. After spending time working and living with Mexican migrant laborers to

Clinical Assessment in Health Centers Heather L. Bienkowski PSCYH 655 March 23, 2015
Professor Karen Hoeve Clinical Assessment in Health Centers Clinical assessments have their place
in almost every facet of the psychological and educational realms. I have been tracking down and
examining what the most important aspects of assessment are that come into play in regard to drug

Through the interpretation of both verbal and nonverbal language, as well as the specific client
complaints, clinicians can pinpoint important markers within behavior and can generate an
understanding of their patient and determine the type of treatment that would be best for their
client. In all psychological and biological assessment, the use of culturally attuned assessments is
top priority. We may define culturally informed psychological assessment as an approach to
evaluation that is keenly perceptive of and responsive to issues of acculturation, values, identity,
worldview, language, and other culture related variables as they may impact the evaluation process
or the interpretation of resulting data (Cohen, Swerdlik, Sturman, 2013). Through this process key
individuals contribute to the understanding of the client including family, friends, and coworkers
input and information. Through the use of translators and other cultural affiliates clinicians are able
to demonstrate a clearer understanding, a culturally applicable assessment, and ensure that the
client understands the ins and outs of the assessment process. One important aspect of the
implementation of the one size fits all approach to culturally attuned treatment and care in our
mental health facilities (Cohen, Swerdlik, Sturman, 2013). Assessment and clinical evaluations

Analyzing Networked Control Systems For Network Induced...
Abstract Networked Control Systems (NCS) are the control systems in which the control loop is
connected through a communication channel. There has been an increased attention to the use of
Network Control System (NCS) in recent years because of their cost effective and flexible
applications. But one of the major issues that need to be studied and solved in NCS is the delay of
the data transmission which occurs throughout the communication network in the system and thus
degrades the control systemperformance and also causes the system instability. This paper
basically presents an analysis of network delay in NCS. In this paper, we have designed a model
of delay control system for network induced delay using the simulation model of network control
system delay and thus analysed the effect of network delay on the performance of the control
system. The TrueTime toolbox of Matlab/Simulink is used for simulating the NCS model.
Keywords networked control system, network delay, control performance, truetime, stability
I.INTRODUCTION
In conventional control systems, control signals are sent over the loop using analog or digital
technology whereas in modern control systems, the control loop is closed through a real time
communication network by T. C. Yang et al. [1]. The Networked Control Systems (NCSs) are the
distributed control systems in which the system components (sensors, actuators and controllers) are
connected by communication networks [2]. One

Remarks from the Thailand Crisis
Remarks from the Thailand Crisis
From the analysis of the causing factors of the Thailand currency crisis in 1997, several remarks
are made in order to provide recommendations. It is hoped that these recommendations would help
avoid future financial crisis similar to the 1997.
Sequence of Financial Liberalization
Thailand s economies before the financial crisis have put a lot of weights on exports and the baht s
stability was the key to the export ratios. Generally speaking, changes in foreign exchange rate and
financial liberalization would trigger a significant impact on the fluctuation of the currency, as well
as the country s export revenues. According to Hansanti, financial liberalization (foreign exchange
reformation included) that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the cost of maintaining the fixed system exceeds the benefit, government should not delay its
review on the appropriateness of the exchange rate system, in order to reduce the risk of having a
currency crisis similar to the Thailand 1997 s.
Control on Capital Flows
The financial liberalization adopted by Thailand government has loosened control of the capital.
Loosen control on capital inflow reduces the costs of borrowing and leads to excessive lending and
borrowing at the same time (Hansanti, 2005, p171). In Thailand, capital inflows went to
unproductive and inflated sectors such as the real estate, not benefiting the country s economies in
the long run. Poor control of capital outflows has weakened the domestic financial sector when
there is no cost for fund movement out of the country (Hansanti, 2005, p171). To improve the
stability of domestic financial market, government should have certain degree of control on capital
inflows and outflows. For instance, according to Oliver, control on capital outflows can be used to
limit the downward pressure on currencies and it is mainly applied to short term capital transactions
to counter speculative flows that threaten to undermine the stability of the exchange rate and
deplete foreign exchange reserves (u.d.). In summary, capital control is used to insure monetary and
financial stability during

Due to recent mass shootings in the U.S. many Americans fear for their safety. Many Americans

Being forced by law to leave her fire arm locked away in her car, she didn t know this particular
time would be the best situation to use it. Her lunch would be interrupted by a criminal with a gun.
She watched as he shot each victim one by one. Including her own parents. Had she possessed her
gun in this instance these tragic deaths may not have occurred.
However, not all guns should be aloud and open to the public. In most cases assault weapons are
used in mass shootings. In California it is illegal to own any gun with with an AK/AK15. Assault
weapons are unnecessary to defend yourself. Sometimes all it takes to defend yourself is just
revealing your fire arm. For example Appalachian School was being targeted by a shooter when a
few brave students showed enough courage to run out to their cars and grab their fire arms. These
students were lucky to prevent any deaths from happening.
Furthermore, more gun laws would not stop a criminal from possessing a gun. Criminals already
don t obey the law. Background checks are an absolute must. Background checks should prevent a
gun from getting in the wrong hands of the wrong person. Many criminals clan they like the gun
control laws because it leaves the victim helpless and without a gun. If every home had a gun, less
criminals feel power over victims by possessing a gun. By everyone having a gun, it equalizes the
un equal.

Exercise On A Regular Basis
The Alzheimer s experts admit that exercise done on a regular basis can diminish the danger of
building up Alzheimer s disease by up to 60%. For the individuals who have as of now
developed signs of cognitive issues, regular exercise can extensively put the brakes on and reduce
the rate of the damage. Exercise done on a regular basis is known to stimulate the capacity of the
mind to keep up old connections and make new ones.
2.Solid Eating Routine
A decent eating regimen is dependably the best remedy for turning around the impacts of dementia.
A Mediterranean eating regimen is often suggested for people suffering from dementia. Keeping up
a consistent level of glucose, eating food items rich with omega 3 unsaturated fats and a lot of
fruits, vegetables and meat hold the key to maintain dementia.
3.Long, Quality Rest
Dealing with sleeping issues is quite common in people suffering from to dementia, Alzheimer s
disease and Lyme disease. It is a potential indication as well as a high risk element. Researchers
have uncovered that long and continuous sleeping hours can help in removing out toxins from the
brain.

Seneca s Theory Of Ethics Caught My Interest
Born in 1 BCE, Lucius Annaeus Seneca was a Stoic philosopher whose writings cover a vast
range of topics concerning the human experience. The public s conception of stoicism as a
school of philosophy predominantly focused on embracing misfortune without complaint is
somewhat distorted from the actual beliefs its outstanding figures held. Seneca s approach to
ethics caught my interest, after thinking over his arguments, I found myself agreeing with much
of what he had to say, that is if I interpreted it correctly. I believe the principles espoused by the
stoics to be particularly relevant over the past century. The 1920 s is often associated as an age
of materialism, an unsustainable time period inundated with mass consumption and fixated on
pleasure. Perhaps it is not as extreme as then nowadays, I would not know for I was not alive;
however, it feels like we are in a similar climate. Everyone wants the newest products, the new
iPhone that comes out every year, that new pair of shoes, that new videogame system, that new
watch, or that new house, etc. Although we have yet to reach the world described by Aldous
Huxley in that of the literary classic Brave New World, which depicts a society constructed upon
drowning in excess consumption of sex and soma, where John, the savage, is perceived as a
lunatic for his quaint habits of being virtuous. More interesting, is the growing desire to be happy,
this is shown by the increasing amounts of literature and social science

To Kill A Pig Thematic Response
Analysis: thematic response I think one particular theme that was showed in this chapter was
the obsession Jack has about killing a pig. This theme really stuck out to me because he is so
concerned to make sure he kills a pig because he didn t kill the pig the day he had caught on but
it ran away. I think the point that author is trying to make come through is the fact all humans
want to prove they can do something when they mess up doing it the first time and sometimes it
turns into an obsession. This can proven because all Jack cares about is killing a pig and getting
some meat even though building a shelter is more important. Conflict One of the conflicts in

Analysis of a Poem “We wear the mask” Essay
Amber Davis Professor Quirk Literature 101 February 28, 2013 We Wear the Mask The lyric
poem We wear the mask by Paul Laurence Dunbar is a poem about the African American race,
and how they had to conceal their unhappiness and anger from whites. This poem was written in
1895, which is around the era when slavery was abolished. Dunbar, living in this time period, was
able to experience the gruesome effects of racism, hatred and prejudice against blacks at its worst.
Using literary techniques such as: alliteration, metaphor, persona, cacophony, apostrophe and

Essentially, the person of this poem is asking why should the world get the right to know why
they are truly upset, and potentially use it against them; instead, have pride, hold your head up

about the true feelings of blacks being hidden behind masks, when also the poem itself hides the
fundamental issue of racism from even being mentioned that alone is a paradox because the
poem has a mask on as well. This poem can also be seen as a paradox because this so called we is
supposed to be wearing a mask when in fact they are expressing their feelings and becoming
vulnerable, aka no more mask. Although each stanza has a bit of alliteration, the second stanza is
the most dominant. Dunbar writes, Why should the world be over wise,/ In counting all our tears
and sighs?/ Nay, let them only see us, while/ We wear our masks (6 9). The alliteration in this stanza
is used heavily with the letter w. With the use of this alliteration, it creates a sense of flow that helps
the speaker get his point across more smoothly. Although the poem is more cacophonic, and harsh,
rather than euphonic, and harmonious, the use of alliteration helps highlight the importance of this
stanza s sayings. The alliteration aspect of this stanza

Nor Easters Case Analysis
Executive Summary
In Springfield Nor easters case study, Larry Buckingham is the marketing director for the Nor
easters, a class A minor league baseball team in Springfield, MA. As any other profit seeking
business the objective of this sports club is to sustain a viable business by making profit, at least
brake even in the opening season. The two major sources of revenue for Nor easters are ticket and
concession sales.
Larry conducts market research to gain knowledge about potential customers and their willingness
to attend Nor easters games on different ticket price levels. The results of the survey and other
information collected by various sources help Larry to develop a pricing strategy for the Nor

He sends postcards to 10,000 recipients, whose contacts are bought from Springfield census tracts
and 4 sports related organizations, to direct them to the website where they can complete the online
questionnaire. Despite the $500 motivational incentive drawing the response rate is small (625 out
of 10,000) which Buckingham believes that it is a decent sample of the population.
Key findings from the survey are as follows: * The customer profile: Potential customers are equal
likely to be male or female and not necessarily baseball fans. The majority of them are between 26
and 35 years of age with children 5 to 16 years old (34% have no children in this age range and
no children at all). They have an annual income between $22,500 and $75,000 and are fairly
educated (72% are high school graduate and above). * A significant majority of the respondents
never attended a sports game. Only 39% said they would attend one or a few games per year. *
The pricing questions show that customers are willing to pay between $10 and $14 for a single
ticket which is the biggest market according to the survey results as mentioned above. The larger
the ticket package, the more discounted the customers expect the price to be. Most customers are
not willing to pay more than 10% for premium seating. 81% of the respondents stated that they
would spend between $6 and $15 on concessions.

In Riis novel How the other half lives , Riis intends to expose the harsh conditions that the
families of New York were being housed in. While doing so, he rights all of what he finds in his

which once belonged to some of the city s most luxurious families. As industrialization increased
over the course of the nineteenth century, the rising rates of immigration of both rural and urban
areas that ensued caused these families to move out of the city all of which occured in the 1890 s .
The buildings owners then began to subdivide them into windowless apartments for the new

Symptoms And Treatment Of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Essay
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, also known as ALS or sometimes called Lou Gehrig s Disease,
is a progressive neurological disease affecting the nerves that control voluntary muscle movement.
It is the most common type of motor neuron disease. The body isn t able to operate as it normally
does due to the muscles weakening overtime. As the disease progresses, it starts to damage nerves
of other vital areas of the body. When the body isn t able to breath the way it should causing
respiratory failure and other things start to go wrong, the body has no choice, but to shut down and
die. (ALS Association)
Lou Gehrig s disease came into public awareness from a famous New York Yankees baseball player
who was forced to retire after developing the disease and died two years later. It was originally
discovered in 1869 by a French neurologist named Jean Martin Charcot. He was the first man to be
able to connect motor neurons in the spinal cord to the ALS disease. (Medical News Today)
The name Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis is derived from Greek origin. Amyotrophic broken down
with A meaning no, myo referring to muscles, and trophic meaning nourishment. The three roots
equal the meaning of no muscle nourishment . When muscles lose their nourishment, they are not
able to stay strong and can withhold their shape. Lateral being the spinal cord and its position to
the body and sclerosis is defined as abnormal hardening of body tissue. When body tissue is

Hawai I Research Paper
I have a full Japanese first name, and I go by a shortened, Americanized version. My first name
means nothing in Japanese, and it s old fashioned, like Barbara or Margaret or Greta. Fashionable
for a decade or so, and now painfully outdated. My middle name is Hawai ian and is a suffix
attached to the names of female royalty, and it means heaven or sky.
I am 100% full blooded Japanese. Allegedly my father s side of the family is descended from
samurai and land owning barons, while my mother s side has a hazier history. I like to call myself
half royalty half peasant, because it sounds romantic but not because there s any basis in truth. I

I still speak Japanese. In addition to Japanese, I speak Spanish with some fluency and French on a

In Spanish and French I am sure I sound childish, and I don t think I sound like anything other than

Should Bob Marley Have A Statue
I think Bob Marley should have a statue dedicated to his honor. I think this for three main
reasons. The first is the fact that he won the Order of Merit award. This is important for many
reasons the first is the fact that it is the fourth highest honor awarded by the nation of Jamaica. The
second reason this is so important is because it can only be given to two people a year. The final
reason this is so important is because this award can only be held by 15 people. The second reason
he deserves a statue is because he was so dedicated to his religion. Bob Marley was a Rastafarian
and as a Rasta he believed godtold everybody to always keep there body whole and he was so

Pearl Harbor Effect
December 7, 1941, a day that will live in infamy. Those exact words, spoken by President
Franklin D. Roosevelt were in response to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, which changed
the course of American History forever. Many people don t know how or why the Japanese did
what they did to Pearl Harbor. Some people believe they did it out of hatred for the United States,
others believe that it was for a step up in the war. This paper focuses mainly on the events leading
to the bombing of Pearl Harbor, the chaos it created, and the aftermath of this devastating tragedy.

President Franklin D. Roosevelt gave his most famous speech A date which will live in infamy ,

After the dust cleared a few days later, people started pointing fingers. Admiral Husband Kimmel

Essay about The Future of Puerto Rico
Whether or not Puerto Rico becomes the 51st state of the United States of America is an important
issue that has been pondered for the last fifty years. Puerto Rico is currently a Commonwealth of
the United States and has been under U.S. rule for a century. Spain ruled Puerto Rico for about 400
years prior to the U.S. take over in 1898. The current and pertinent issue, though, is whether Puerto

Food Structure And The Proper Combination Of Food
In Italy it is known that food structure and the proper combination of food, is how the body
properly digests and becomes healthy. Italians see food as, the key to health as well as
sustenance and pleasure (200). When different foods are combined, the dished have to be served
in a distinct order. This order is said to be as old as ancient Rome. The template is as follows
antipasti, il primo, il secondo, dolce. This sequence is organized in a way to stimulate digestion
and balance the qualities of the prior dishes.
Antipasto is the first plate of food, but has several different types of nourishment, which announces
the taste of the rest of the meal. It is an appetizer with a lot of different flavors, and there can be
one to several dishes at a typical meal. Il Primo is the first main plate and is rice, pasta, or soup.
Rice and pasta do not generally go together in a traditional meal. Meat or cheese could be in this
dish, but only has part of a sauce or a pasta stuffing. Il Primo extends themes that are set by the
antipasti, or the appetizer, by combining several different types of pastas with hundreds of
different sauces. Sauces are typically based on garlic, basil, and tomatoes. There are several
combinations to make a sauce, or a lighter sauce. So, Il Primo is a pretty simple dish with modest
ingredients, but offers a ton of flavor, texture, and color in sauces and their combination with pasta
or rice. Il Secondo is the second plate and consist of meat or fish and

How Technology Has Changed Business Environment
I.Intro
As technology continues to advance, the accounting profession needs to adapt in order to continue
providing the most value to our clients. Technology has begun to change the way companies are
doing business. The technology has given executives the tools to better understand their data.
Decisions are no longer based on theory, but on data analysis leveraged by using algorithms. These
algorithms allow organizations to understand trends and patterns based on historical events.
Accountants have been stereotyped for many years as being anti social, individuals who only deal
with numbers. This stereotype could not be farther from the truth in today s business environment.
The ability to understand the underlying strategy, the systems, and how the various parts of the
organization communicate are critical to an accountant s success. The Institute of Management
Accounts realizes the changing business environment and have updated their definition of
management accounting accordingly. The definition now reads Management accounting is a
profession that involves partnering in a management decision making, devising planning, and
performance management systems, and providing expertise in financial reporting and control assist
management in the formulation and implementation of an organization s strategy. (Williams)
Accountants are now deemed to be knowledgeable in more than just financial reporting. Without a
clear understanding of how the systems work together accountants

Infectious Disease Personal Statement
My interest in Infectious disease began even before entering residency half way across the world

diverse culture but is also one of the most impoverished. I had the privilege to witness first hand
how the dedicated physicians living there do the most with less in one of the most remotest parts of

prevalent in the US: tuberculosis, typhoid, dengue, malaria, brucellosis and leptospirosis to name a

history and the thoroughness of their physical exam. My interest further developed during my

St. Bernard Of Clairvaux s Man Of Sorrows
After examining the passages written by earlier Church writers, one could see that the picture of
Christ as the Man of Sorrows, relating to St. Bernard of Clairvaux s excerpt, would not pair well
with the earlier Church writers excerpts. Bernard of Clairvaux s view on Christ takes on a tone
favoring Christocentric and affective spirituality, emphasizing Christ s Passion and death and
taking relation into it as he writes where Christ s suffering with the piercing nail has become a
key to unlock the door, that [he] may see the good will of the Lord (CP3 22), seeing Christ s human
body as a way to relate to and feel peace within Him, and pairing well with the image of Jesus

Although not as prominent again as inferring the stance Ignatius has on Christ the Victor
soteriology, some parts of his writings focus on the Passion and sufferings of the Incarnation,
particularly the end of his Letter to the Romans, where he speaks of himself not on fire with the
love of earthly things, but there is in me a Living Water... Bread of God is what I desire; that is,
the Flesh of Jesus Christ, who was the seed of David; and for my drink I desire His Blood, that
is, incorruptible love (CP3 6). Bernard, likewise, although not as figuratively as Ignatius
describes his yearnings, writes that through the Incarnation s suffering on the Cross, after being
pierced, Bernard wishes that [t]hrough the openings of these wounds I may drink from the rock
and oil from the hardest stone: that is, I may taste and see that the Lord is sweet (CP3 22). In
final, the Man of Sorrows image would not pair well overall with the writings of the earlier

hero, triumphing over sin by His death and Ressurection and Christocentric and affective

The Importance Of The Indian Mutiny
The purpose of this lecture was to discuss the importance of the Indian Mutiny which began on
May 10th, 1857. However, before the rebellion began, the British had colonized India, where they
would use citizens as soldiers, and tap into their revenue. In addition, the British changed the ruling
system, where current rulers were disinherited. Then in Meerut India, the rebellion against the
British began. This began when the Meerut troops refused to set down their muskets at an army
base. The troops then proceeded to shoot at their commanding officers, where they were forced to
flee to Delhi. This act represented racial intolerance, white versus non white, and was viewed as a

Nonexistent Knight Postmodernism Essay
The term postmodernism is used a lot with the analysis of characters of The Nonexistent Knight

fragmented, and the belief that all communication is shaped by cultural bias, myth, metaphor,

creativity. An example of this would be Gurduloo and how he is the opposite of what society

When viewed in an inertial reference frame, an object either is at rest or moves at a constant

objects to continue to do what they re doing. All objects withstand changes in their state of
motion. Without an unbalanced force, an object in motion will maintain this state of motion His
second law states that The acceleration of a body is directly proportional to, and in the same
direction as, the net force acting on the body, and inversely proportional to its mass. Thus, F =
ma, where F is the net force acting on the object, m is the mass of the object and a is the
acceleration of the object. This law implicates that heavier objects require more force to move the

respecting the rituals practiced by the followers. Ernesto Pichardo, the president of the LukumГ
BabalГє AyГ© Church, replies to that man s remark by saying, If the dog is missing, please don t
blame us. We certainly don t use pets (May). According to another disgruntled church neighbor, I m
gonna bitch like hell, if it starts to smell over there. We ll call the Health Department (Morcate).
Based on the previous statements, one can see that many people in the community have almost
hostile opinions towards the practice of this particular religion. For one, when Hialeah City Council
president, Herman EchevarrГa, first learned about the church back in May of 1987, he said, I m not
the type that interferes with anyone s religious beliefs as long as they don t hurt anybody else. I m
not crazy about [SanterГa] either, but if everything they re doing complies with the laws and
ordinances or the city, I m not one to go out and protest or make waves about what they re doing
(May).
This is the type of response that many of the open minded people in the community give when
asked about their views on SanterГa. The major

Final Project Reflection Report
1.How are you feeling about your final project? I feel positive about my final project for this
unit. First, Omar and I had made a good slideshow that was somewhat modern. Second, we had
found useful information that was somewhat reliable. 2. What things specifically tell you that it
went so well/so poorly? Somethings that told us hat we had done a good job was the feedback we
received from the people we presented the slideshow to. In addition, we compared our presentation
and its qualities to other peoplesВґ and we found that ours was ВґsuperiorВґ. 3. As you think about
the decisions you made in this unit, which ones seem most important? The decision of redesigning
our slideshow again to specify our results was useful. Our general results... Show more content on

How did the final project go compared to how you thought it might go? The final project was
little better than I expected. Omars technological skills are always good, which is why I thought
we would do a good job. Yet, I expected the survey results to be sketchy, because of all of the
written results and the unreliability of some peoples responses. 5. What are some things you
learned from this project? First, IВґve learned some tricks involving Google Excel and creating
proper graphs. Second, I learned that when you work with people that actually complete their
work, the project is smoother and better. Though, I was surprised that he completed all of his work
and did even more, which was interesting. 5a. What did you learn about research (surveys,
interviews, etc.)? I learned that more than just some people find their homework uninteresting. I
didn t expect this to be a problem for most people. I learned that most people find the homework in
Mathematics and social studies uninteresting, and I agree. I was surprised that few people found
artistic assignments interesting, but they were probably thinking about the basic art class
assignments which are not being intended. 6. How can you apply some of what you ve learned in

Active Listening Critique
In this refection/critique I will briefly describe the skills sets of active listening, I will point out
my strengths and the areas need further learning and development, I will also briefly mention the
impact with future practices if I was to not develop my learning any further with the skillets that
need further learning. Active listening skills is a board range of skills that are extremely useful
in social work. The three skill clusters are: Attending Skills, Following Skills and Reflecting
Skills. With each of these skills there are specific skills that are broken down to enable people to
learn more efficiently. The specific skills for Attending skills are: A Posture of Involvement,

I could further my learning in saying a few minimal encourages like: go on, tell me more, right
or I see. The purpose for minimal encouragers is to indicate that you (the listener is with the
speaker) and allows the speaker to continue talking. Reflecting skills is mirroring back the main
feeling and/or contents of what the speaker has expressed. Reflecting on my skills I believe that
my strengths are: Paraphrasing, which reflects the essentials of the speaker s message and gives
an understanding of what you heard. Reflecting feelings, which is focusing on the key feelings
that the speaker expressed and summative reflections, I believe I used summative reflections well
as I used It at the end of the convosation to clarify on the feelings, and themes. The area that I feel
I need to further my learning in is reflecting meaning, I do get confused about reflecting feeling and
reflecting meaning. Reflecting feeling Is reflecting the main feelings, where reflecting meaning is
reflecting on the feeling and facts to join them in one response. Looking back, I did use Reflecting

Proso Millet as an Alternative Crop Essay
Proso Millet as an Alternative Crop
Proso millet, Panicurn miliaceum (L.), is a warm season grass that is capable of producing seeds
within a short growing season of 60 to 100 days (Boland, 2003). Proso millet possesses many
unique characteristics that make it a promising alternative cash crop for the Great Plains region of
United States. There is much potential for beneficial results if proso millet is further integrated into
the cropping scheme of the Great Plains. Reasons for looking further into proso millet include
benefits in crop rotation with wheat, and its characteristic ability to be used to produce ethanol, as
well as other products.
Proso millet commonly grows up to four feet tall, and the seeds are small ... Show more content on

Proso millet is effective at helping control these grasses because proso millet does not occupy
the same growing season as these weeds, unlike winter wheat. Putting millet into a wheat/fallow
rotation makes it possible to produce two crops in three years. Proso millet requires little water,
and has fairly low nutrient requirements. Studies have shown that proso millet starts to produce
seed after utilizing as 6 inches of total water, as opposed to the 9 to 10 inches of total water use
before wheat beings seed production (Baltensperger). The main nutrients that may be lacking for
proso millet production are nitrogen and phosphorus (Blumenthal). It is recommended that a soil
nitrogen test be conducted every year before planting proso millet and that a soil test for
potassium, phosphorus, and micronutrients be done every three to five years (Blumenthal).
Fertilizers should then be applied accordingly to the results of the soil tests. Insect and disease
problems are not very high in proso millet (Baltensperger). Weeds, however, can be a problem in
proso millet, and can cause drastic reductions in yields. The herbicide combination that is used
most often in proso millet production is Banvel and 2,4 D (Baltensperger). Atrazine, which was
used extensively in proso millet production, is no longer labeled for use with proso millet, which
has increased the amount of management and money required to produce proso millet

Essay on the setting of there will come soft rains
Essay on the setting of August 2026: There Will Come Soft Rains by Ray Bradbury In August
2026: There Will Come Soft Rains , a short story by world renown author Ray Bradbury, the
narrator tells the story of a house in Allendale California, in the year 2026. The setting in this
short story is very particular; it is set in a post apocalyptic world that most likely illustrates the
aftermath of a devastating nuclear war. The story takes place over the course of one day: August
4, 2026 . The house that is described to the reader is the last house left standing, it s deserted and
surrounded by rubbles but it s still technologically intact. The setting in this story takes a major role,
it provides insight into the story, it facilitates... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The house s efficiency and helpfulness seem to make it cold and emotionless and the fact that it
lives on after its inhabitants have passed just proves how the house is only a machine that is
unable to love, this house will always be a house but it will never be a home. While the plot and
the theme are always very significant, a reader should never forget the importance of the setting in
a story. This short story is a perfect example of the importance of the setting, since it is through it
that the reader is able to truly understand the author s message and intensions. It is through the
description of a post apocalyptic world, a city in ruins and the last house standing, that the reader is

Public Housing Policy in Singapore
1INTRODUCTION
The Singapore public housing policy since its establishment has proved to provide shelter for the
population and has contributed significantly to the economic, social and political development of
Singapore. This policy has been the benchmark for the best public housing by other countries
notably China and Hong Kong (Yang, 2010; Wong, 2011).
The public housing policy implementation has been spearheaded by Housing and Development
Board (HDB) to tackle post war economic problems such as rapid population growth, high
unemployment rate and a critical shortage of sanitary housing (HDB, 2014). The policy was also
aimed to mitigate social problems such as riots and strikes among the different ethnic groups (HDB,
2014).
The success story of public housing policy implementation lies in the higher economic growth and
social stability of Singapore. Economic growth saw 82% of the population live in 879,000 HDB
flats located across 23 towns and estates with home ownership rate at 95% high (Department of
Statistics, 2014). In terms of social stability, the policy implementation has freed Singapore from
race riot since 1969 (Department of Statistics, 2014).
However, rising issues and concerns of ageing population, income disparity and higher housing
price have destabilized Singapore s public housing policy (Population White Paper, 2013). In light
of these challenges, new measures and directions have to be introduced by the Government to keep
public housing policy relevant

Vibrio vulnificus found in the Hampton Roads area
Issued 5 April, 2016
In the Hampton Roads area we have a special scientist that test our waters and they are with a
company called Hampton Roads Sanitation District also known as HRSD. In recent years a flesh
eating bacteria called Vibrio Vulnificus has been found in Hampton Roads area, specifically at the
Virginia Beach Oceanfront. It is very concerning because a lot of people that live in the Hampton
Roads area enjoy swimming or surfing in the ocean, as well as tourists who come. If the Vibrio
Vulnificus spreads no one will want to visit to the oceanfront.
During the summer of 2012 the HRSD tested the waters of the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. When

Similes In The Hanging, By George Orwell
The hanging is a short story written by George Orwell is in essence an anti capital punishment
piece written to persuade the reader that capital punishment s an unjust crime against humanity, and
just as bad as whatever crime the criminal has committed. George Orwell throughout the literary
piece makes use of similes, contrasts, and irony in order to persuade the reader of Orwell s
viewpoint.
Furthermore, throughout the short story in its entirety we see the constant use of similes in an
effort to help the reader visualize the scene at hand. For instance, during the start of the story we
see Orwell equate the jail cell to, small animal cages ; Orwell does this to help illustrate to the
reader the truly abominable circumstances that befell the prisoners of the facility. If Orwell were
to simply state that the conditions were atrocious it d be easier to distance ourselves from the
conditions at hand, by using this simile he has in effect made it nearly impossible for the reader
to distance themselves, as the imagery cascades into his thoughts through the simile. Moreover,
as they grab onto the prisoner and forcibly hold onto him to prevent any potential escape attempt,
Orwell likens the situation to, Men handling a fish which is still alive and may jump back into
the water. Orwell does this with the intention of painting the image of a small slippery man
being handled by men who can t get a grip upon him due to the rain and his stature. Furthermore,
when the prisoner is crying out Ram, Ram, Ram! Orwell says it s akin to the, Tolling of the bell.
which s basically to say it was the sound of death, as funeral homes toll the bell during a funeral
service; ultimately, orwell uses these similes as a way to paint a picture of what s going on in the
reader s head. It brings a darker undertone to the story and helps reinforce what Orwell sees as the
dark, sadistic nature of capital punishment.
Moreover, Orwell uses contrasting ideas to further indulge the reader plunging deeper into the
abyss of gloom that Orwell is attempting to get the reader to stare into. Orwell illustrates this rather
soundly when the dog is brought into the equation, It came bounding among us with a loud volley
of barks, and

situation. They need an organ transplant in order to live but they are put on a waiting list to see
if they qualify for an organ which may come in time before they are to sick, or it may not come in
time which ends in death. Some of the points we will discuss is what is an organ transplant, how can

The Dangers Of Nuclear Bombs
Nuclear Bombs
What would happen if the most powerful countries in the world started a nuclear war? In society,
many people will agree that nuclear bombs are a threat to humankind and the all life on Earth. To
this day, several countries still have nuclear bombs and weapons. This can affect the world because
countries with nuclear weapons have even threatened to use these against other countries, which
could start a third, more deadly, world war.
The last World War (WW2) was the only war that actually used nuclear weapons. Nuclear
weapons are categorized into two major types of bombs. The first is called an atomic bomb and it
can kill thousands of people, but the hydrogen bomb is even worse and can kill ten times the
number of living things. When a nuclear bomb explodes, it either releases uranium or plutonium
atoms, smoke, dust, and soot. As this happens, the bombs pollute the ground, food, water and
air. When the chemicals get into large and small bodies of water, it can destroy the ecosystem
and hurt people who eat food grown or raised in the area. Even when there is wind, it is still
dangerous. The wind can carry the chemicals which travel for miles and can be destructive to
habitats. Nuclear bombs can kill living things almost instantly, but if the people near the explosion
don t die, they usually suffer from radiation, very severe burns, flying glass and deadly debris.

The National Institute Of Health
The National Institute of Health (2014) listed the most common form of familial hyperinsulinism to
be an autosomal recessive genetic defect that is common among the Ashkenazi Jewish population.
This condition affects 1 in 66 carriers who are Ashkenazi Jews since they have reported
consanguineous marriages (NIH, 2014). Among Ashkenazi Jews, two single ABCC8 mutations
account for 90 percent of cases of familiar hyperinsulinism (Mazor Aronovitch, et al, 2007). The
incidence of FHI in individuals of northern European descendants is approximately 1:30,000 live
births. The incidence is increased in genetically isolated populations with a high prevalence of
consanguinity (UpToDate.com). Phenotypes/ Genetic tendencies identified (Converse, 2014)
FHI is a clinical and genetical disorder which can be inherited in an autosomal dominant(less
common) and autosomal recessive patterns of inheritance. In this cases, the pancreatic beta cells
over produce insulin. The condition is characterized by inadequate suppression of insulin secretion
in the presence of severe, recurrent, fasting hypoglycemia (Nestorowicz, et al. n.d.). The clinical
manifestations range from life threatening hypoglycemia presenting in the first days of life to only
mildly symptomatic hypoglycemia in an adolescent that may be difficult to identify. The response
to medical and surgical therapy also varies between affected individuals. Normally, insulin is
secreted in response to the amount of glucose in the

There was a crisis in America during the time period the movie O Brother, Where Art Thou? was based on. The Great Depression was occurring at that time and the characters in this movie reflected and showed was it was like to live in a time like that. And so, goes the story of O Brother, Where Art Thou? Historical Context This movie is based on the time period of the 1930 s. The Great Depression was in action during this time period. According to history.com, more than fifteen million Americans were unemployed after the stock market crash of October 29, 1929. President Hoover was in office at the time and didn t do much to overcome the predicament. Hoover announced that we would need patience and self reliance to overcome this. In 1932 the crime rate in Washington was at its all time high and parole board had the most applicants it has ever had according to Professor Carl Murchison. Seattle Post Intelligencer reported that unemployment drove people to want to end their lives during the Great Depression. During that time in King county, there was 190 suicides and even more suicide attempts. People felt that the was no escaping this financial struggle and thought the only way out of it was to end their lives. There was also an increase in robberies. People would steal money from their own workplace. People would take money from graves, burry people alive and take their jewelry, you name it. With the economy being at its lowest point, people were taking or getting money wherever they could. The characters in the movie showed they were living in a time of poverty. Pete s family ... I have bad dreams. I go into a hypnotic trance almost daily. He soon left Thiokol and the engineering profession. For the rest of his life he faulted himself for not doing enough to prevent the launch (Grimes p.2). Robert Ebeling was one of the Morton Thiokol engineers who knew that the Challenger space shuttlewould explode. The Challenger disaster occurred in 1986, and in the early 1980s, earlier versions of the shuttle had been launched. There were signs of problems with the O rings, but they were never resolved, resulting in a catastrophe. Engineers from Morton Thiokol,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The two most important seals are O rings, essentially large doughnut shaped pieces of synthetic rubber that fill the tiny gap between two cylindrical segments that are bolted together. The O rings are themselves protected from heat and flame damage by an initial barrier of putty (Boffey p.2). O rings are designed to be tight to ensure that gases do not leak through them, so they themselves must be protected from heat. Robert Ebeling knew that the rubber O rings that were supposed to seal the joints between the booster rocket s segments would not perform well in cold weather, and Florida was about to launch the shuttle in temperatures more than 30 degrees lower than any previous launch (Grimes p.1). This seemingly minor piece would affect the entire shuttle if there was even the slightest malfunction. O rings that are unable to seal the joints would create leaks, eventually leading to a disaster. The critical problem, it added, was that rotational forces generated as pressure builds up within the rocket caused a lifting off or unseating of the secondary ring, a problem which has been known for quite some time. One proposal for eliminating this problem, the memorandum said was a capture feature, not otherwise described, which would prevent the seal from lifting off (Boffey p.4). A report stated that the secondary or backup ring for the primary ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Benefits Of Illegal Migrant Workers Once working in the U.S., undocumented migrant laborers are perfectly exploitable. Because they are not citizens or on work visas, they essentially have no rights in the minds of some farms. Farms may provide poor quality housing, but no other work benefits. Agriculture doesn t have to pay hourly minimum wage, so instead workers are paid by piece rate: employment in which a worker is paid a fixed rate for each unit produced no matter the time invested. In some areas, farms make it appear that they are paying laborers minimum wage by requiring laborers to pick enough produce to equal a full day s pay. Over exhaustion induced by this is typically untreated because of the lack of proper medical care available to migrant workers; either because of personal funds, or ignorant lenses through which doctors view Mexican migrant patients (Holmes, 2013, p. 113). Then if a laborer expresses any issues to their employers, employers will use the labor s undocumented status against them. Essentially, they ll threaten the laborer with deportation if the laborer were to make any action against the farm because of labor rights violations first hand manipulation of the social divides of labor. Yet, if the conditions of this job are so poor, and the laborers severely exploited, why do people still choose to make the dangerous journey? Music itself is really persuasive that causes the pace of the story to slow down or speed up and later makes a huge impact on the story. Music from Belmont Harbor and Gorgeous were pretty reversed from each other, especially when having different music playing in the background while doing a task that is important. In the Belmont Harbor, a chapter written by John Porcellino from The Prefect Example, John Porcellino listens to Punk Rockmusic which was pretty famous when he was a kid and the music was an inspiring moment because it ought them how the world really is (add the citation). On the other hand, music in Gorgeous written by Cathy Johnson, her way of implying the music in the beginning of the story was pretty adroit since she only uses the music once in the story. Likewise, she was able to deliver many kinds of details from only a few panels in the page ( add the citation). In the Gorgeous, the music from the beginning of the story had a feeling of modern pop. However, Porcellino played Punk Rock music whenever he would enter someone else car and he would always like to suggest the music to his friends. • 14. Analyzing Networked Control Systems For Network Induced... Abstract Networked Control Systems (NCS) are the control systems in which the control loop is connected through a communication channel. There has been an increased attention to the use of Network Control System (NCS) in recent years because of their cost effective and flexible applications. But one of the major issues that need to be studied and solved in NCS is the delay of the data transmission which occurs throughout the communication network in the system and thus degrades the control systemperformance and also causes the system instability. This paper basically presents an analysis of network delay in NCS. In this paper, we have designed a model of delay control system for network induced delay using the simulation model of network control system delay and thus analysed the effect of network delay on the performance of the control system. The TrueTime toolbox of Matlab/Simulink is used for simulating the NCS model. Keywords networked control system, network delay, control performance, truetime, stability I.INTRODUCTION In conventional control systems, control signals are sent over the loop using analog or digital technology whereas in modern control systems, the control loop is closed through a real time communication network by T. C. Yang et al. [1]. The Networked Control Systems (NCSs) are the distributed control systems in which the system components (sensors, actuators and controllers) are connected by communication networks [2]. One ... If the cost of maintaining the fixed system exceeds the benefit, government should not delay its review on the appropriateness of the exchange rate system, in order to reduce the risk of having a currency crisis similar to the Thailand 1997 s. Control on Capital Flows The financial liberalization adopted by Thailand government has loosened control of the capital. Loosen control on capital inflow reduces the costs of borrowing and leads to excessive lending and borrowing at the same time (Hansanti, 2005, p171). In Thailand, capital inflows went to unproductive and inflated sectors such as the real estate, not benefiting the country s economies in the long run. Poor control of capital outflows has weakened the domestic financial sector when there is no cost for fund movement out of the country (Hansanti, 2005, p171). To improve the stability of domestic financial market, government should have certain degree of control on capital inflows and outflows. For instance, according to Oliver, control on capital outflows can be used to limit the downward pressure on currencies and it is mainly applied to short term capital transactions to counter speculative flows that threaten to undermine the stability of the exchange rate and deplete foreign exchange reserves (u.d.). The public s conception of stoicism as a school of philosophy predominantly focused on embracing misfortune without complaint is somewhat distorted from the actual beliefs its outstanding figures held. Seneca s approach to ethics caught my interest, after thinking over his arguments, I found myself agreeing with much of what he had to say, that is if I interpreted it correctly. I believe the principles espoused by the stoics to be particularly relevant over the past century. Essentially, the person of this poem is asking why should the world get the right to know why they are truly upset, and potentially use it against them; instead, have pride, hold your head up high, and put on your mask. In doing so, the literary term paradox comes into play. This poem is about the true feelings of blacks being hidden behind masks, when also the poem itself hides the fundamental issue of racism from even being mentioned that alone is a paradox because the poem has a mask on as well. This poem can also be seen as a paradox because this so called we is supposed to be wearing a mask when in fact they are expressing their feelings and becoming vulnerable, aka no more mask. Although each stanza has a bit of alliteration, the second stanza is the most dominant. Dunbar writes, Why should the world be over wise,/ In counting all our tears and sighs?/ Nay, let them only see us, while/ We wear our masks (6 9). The alliteration in this stanza is used heavily with the letter w. With the use of this alliteration, it creates a sense of flow that helps the speaker get his point across more smoothly. Although the poem is more cacophonic, and harsh, rather than euphonic, and harmonious, the use of alliteration helps highlight the importance of this stanza s sayings. Technology has begun to change the way companies are doing business. The technology has given executives the tools to better understand their data. All objects withstand changes in their state of motion. Without an unbalanced force, an object in motion will maintain this state of motion His second law states that The acceleration of a body is directly proportional to, and in the same direction as, the net force acting on the body, and inversely proportional to its mass. Thus, F = ma, where F is the net force acting on the object, m is the mass of the object and a is the acceleration of the object. Based on the previous statements, one can see that many people in the community have almost hostile opinions towards the practice of this particular religion. For one, when Hialeah City Council president, Herman EchevarrГa, first learned about the church back in May of 1987, he said, I m not the type that interferes with anyone s religious beliefs as long as they don t hurt anybody else. I m not crazy about [SanterГa] either, but if everything they re doing complies with the laws and ordinances or the city, I m not one to go out and protest or make waves about what they re doing (May). • 42. Final Project Reflection Report 1.How are you feeling about your final project? I feel positive about my final project for this unit. First, Omar and I had made a good slideshow that was somewhat modern. Second, we had found useful information that was somewhat reliable. 2. What things specifically tell you that it went so well/so poorly? Somethings that told us hat we had done a good job was the feedback we received from the people we presented the slideshow to. In addition, we compared our presentation and its qualities to other peoplesВґ and we found that ours was ВґsuperiorВґ. 3. As you think about the decisions you made in this unit, which ones seem most important? The decision of redesigning our slideshow again to specify our results was useful. Our general results... Omars technological skills are always good, which is why I thought we would do a good job. Yet, I expected the survey results to be sketchy, because of all of the written results and the unreliability of some peoples responses. 5. What are some things you learned from this project? First, IВґve learned some tricks involving Google Excel and creating proper graphs. Second, I learned that when you work with people that actually complete their work, the project is smoother and better. Though, I was surprised that he completed all of his work and did even more, which was interesting. 5a. What did you learn about research (surveys, interviews, etc.)? I learned that more than just some people find their homework uninteresting. I didn t expect this to be a problem for most people. I learned that most people find the homework in Mathematics and social studies uninteresting, and I agree. I was surprised that few people found artistic assignments interesting, but they were probably thinking about the basic art class assignments which are not being intended. 6. Reflecting on my skills I believe that my strengths are: Paraphrasing, which reflects the essentials of the speaker s message and gives an understanding of what you heard. Reflecting feelings, which is focusing on the key feelings that the speaker expressed and summative reflections, I believe I used summative reflections well as I used It at the end of the convosation to clarify on the feelings, and themes. The area that I feel I need to further my learning in is reflecting meaning, I do get confused about reflecting feeling and reflecting meaning. • 44. Proso Millet as an Alternative Crop Essay Proso Millet as an Alternative Crop Proso millet, Panicurn miliaceum (L.), is a warm season grass that is capable of producing seeds within a short growing season of 60 to 100 days (Boland, 2003). Proso millet possesses many unique characteristics that make it a promising alternative cash crop for the Great Plains region of United States. There is much potential for beneficial results if proso millet is further integrated into the cropping scheme of the Great Plains. Reasons for looking further into proso millet include benefits in crop rotation with wheat, and its characteristic ability to be used to produce ethanol, as well as other products. Proso millet commonly grows up to four feet tall, and the seeds are small ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Proso millet is effective at helping control these grasses because proso millet does not occupy the same growing season as these weeds, unlike winter wheat. Putting millet into a wheat/fallow rotation makes it possible to produce two crops in three years. Proso millet requires little water, and has fairly low nutrient requirements. Studies have shown that proso millet starts to produce seed after utilizing as 6 inches of total water, as opposed to the 9 to 10 inches of total water use before wheat beings seed production (Baltensperger). The main nutrients that may be lacking for proso millet production are nitrogen and phosphorus (Blumenthal). It is recommended that a soil nitrogen test be conducted every year before planting proso millet and that a soil test for potassium, phosphorus, and micronutrients be done every three to five years (Blumenthal). Fertilizers should then be applied accordingly to the results of the soil tests. Insect and disease problems are not very high in proso millet (Baltensperger). Weeds, however, can be a problem in proso millet, and can cause drastic reductions in yields. The herbicide combination that is used most often in proso millet production is Banvel and 2,4 D (Baltensperger). Atrazine, which was used extensively in proso millet production, is no longer labeled for use with proso millet, which has increased the amount of management and money required to produce proso millet ... • 47. Public Housing Policy in Singapore 1INTRODUCTION The Singapore public housing policy since its establishment has proved to provide shelter for the population and has contributed significantly to the economic, social and political development of Singapore. This policy has been the benchmark for the best public housing by other countries notably China and Hong Kong (Yang, 2010; Wong, 2011). The public housing policy implementation has been spearheaded by Housing and Development Board (HDB) to tackle post war economic problems such as rapid population growth, high unemployment rate and a critical shortage of sanitary housing (HDB, 2014). The policy was also aimed to mitigate social problems such as riots and strikes among the different ethnic groups (HDB, 2014). The success story of public housing policy implementation lies in the higher economic growth and social stability of Singapore. Economic growth saw 82% of the population live in 879,000 HDB flats located across 23 towns and estates with home ownership rate at 95% high (Department of Statistics, 2014). In terms of social stability, the policy implementation has freed Singapore from race riot since 1969 (Department of Statistics, 2014). However, rising issues and concerns of ageing population, income disparity and higher housing price have destabilized Singapore s public housing policy (Population White Paper, 2013). In light of these challenges, new measures and directions have to be introduced by the Government to keep public housing policy relevant ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 49. Similes In The Hanging, By George Orwell The hanging is a short story written by George Orwell is in essence an anti capital punishment piece written to persuade the reader that capital punishment s an unjust crime against humanity, and just as bad as whatever crime the criminal has committed. George Orwell throughout the literary piece makes use of similes, contrasts, and irony in order to persuade the reader of Orwell s viewpoint. Furthermore, throughout the short story in its entirety we see the constant use of similes in an effort to help the reader visualize the scene at hand. For instance, during the start of the story we see Orwell equate the jail cell to, small animal cages ; Orwell does this to help illustrate to the reader the truly abominable circumstances that befell the prisoners of the facility. If Orwell were to simply state that the conditions were atrocious it d be easier to distance ourselves from the conditions at hand, by using this simile he has in effect made it nearly impossible for the reader to distance themselves, as the imagery cascades into his thoughts through the simile. Moreover, as they grab onto the prisoner and forcibly hold onto him to prevent any potential escape attempt, Orwell likens the situation to, Men handling a fish which is still alive and may jump back into the water. Orwell does this with the intention of painting the image of a small slippery man being handled by men who can t get a grip upon him due to the rain and his stature. Furthermore, when the prisoner is crying out Ram, Ram, Ram! Orwell says it s akin to the, Tolling of the bell. which s basically to say it was the sound of death, as funeral homes toll the bell during a funeral service; ultimately, orwell uses these similes as a way to paint a picture of what s going on in the reader s head. It brings a darker undertone to the story and helps reinforce what Orwell sees as the dark, sadistic nature of capital punishment. Moreover, Orwell uses contrasting ideas to further indulge the reader plunging deeper into the abyss of gloom that Orwell is attempting to get the reader to stare into. Orwell illustrates this rather soundly when the dog is brought into the equation, It came bounding among us with a loud volley of barks, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 51. The Dangers Of Nuclear Bombs Nuclear Bombs What would happen if the most powerful countries in the world started a nuclear war? In society, many people will agree that nuclear bombs are a threat to humankind and the all life on Earth. To this day, several countries still have nuclear bombs and weapons. This can affect the world because countries with nuclear weapons have even threatened to use these against other countries, which could start a third, more deadly, world war. The last World War (WW2) was the only war that actually used nuclear weapons. Nuclear weapons are categorized into two major types of bombs. The first is called an atomic bomb and it can kill thousands of people, but the hydrogen bomb is even worse and can kill ten times the number of living things. When a nuclear bomb explodes, it either releases uranium or plutonium atoms, smoke, dust, and soot. As this happens, the bombs pollute the ground, food, water and air. When the chemicals get into large and small bodies of water, it can destroy the ecosystem and hurt people who eat food grown or raised in the area. Even when there is wind, it is still dangerous. The wind can carry the chemicals which travel for miles and can be destructive to habitats. Nuclear bombs can kill living things almost instantly, but if the people near the explosion don t die, they usually suffer from radiation, very severe burns, flying glass and deadly debris. This condition affects 1 in 66 carriers who are Ashkenazi Jews since they have reported consanguineous marriages (NIH, 2014). Among Ashkenazi Jews, two single ABCC8 mutations account for 90 percent of cases of familiar hyperinsulinism (Mazor Aronovitch, et al, 2007). The incidence of FHI in individuals of northern European descendants is approximately 1:30,000 live births.
