Argumentative Essay On Global Citizenship
While the very definition of the term global citizenship may vary, The Global Citizens Initiative has
simplified such profound term into a person who identifies with being part of an emerging world
community and whose actions contribute to building this community s values and practices (Israel,
2012). When looking at citizenship from a worldview, cosmopolitanism and globalization are the two
main factors that are inevitably crucial, as they expand one s perspective to the extent where one
individual form a global link and form a relationship based on shared beliefs and inclusive mutual
respect, which also resulted in interconnectedness and intercultural communication.
Cosmopolitanism is the belief system that every single individual has a place with a solitary group, in
view of a mutual ethical quality. In political phrases, it consists of an ideological function of
awareness and criticism. In sociological phrases, it is far a reconfigured device for members of the
family in a worldwide global (Gonçalves, 2015). To quote Appiah, cosmopolitanisms is an ideology
that can be define as citizen of the world (cited in Brookes, 2006). Moreover, cosmopolitans
additionally agree with that each one human beings come under the same ethical requirements. In the
face of cosmopolitanisms, the limits between nations, states, cultures or societies are therefore morally
inappropriate, as cosmopolitanism indicates a commitment to universal values (Pitty, Stokes Smith,
2008).

Murder, Manslaughter
This case note will discuss the issues of the law concerning Murder, Manslaughter and that of
Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH), this can be found in The offences Against the Person Act 1861 ,
Sections 18 , 20 and 36. It will critically discuss and analyze the areas of law in relation to the death of
a baby, who was said to have died because she was born prematurely however it is argued that the
events that led up to the birth, that is the stabbing of the mother by her mother s boyfriend when she
was still a foetus is what contributed to the death of the baby. The main issue concerning this case note
is if the offender in this case the boyfriend can be charged with murder . The legal definition of
murder as defined by Sir Edward Coke is the unlawful

The Government And Environmental Policy Essay
The Government and Environmental Policy
The purpose of the United States public policy law is to implement restrictions in an effort to solve
problems, which can be seen with the Clean Water Act.
Public policy has also been employed to reform the Endangered Species Act of
1973. Although the United States government is noble in it s efforts to preserve the environment
through these acts, the internal structure of public policy often retards these acts effectiveness. This
paper will explore the many ways in which factors such as horizontal implementation, divided
government, and other forms of public policy affect the environmental legislation involved with the
aforementioned acts. The main factors involved with the Endangered

And, of course, workset like incentives such as taxes, fees, allowances, refunds, and liability are used
to enforce the laws effectively.
Horizontal implementation refers specifically to implementation with the federal government, as
opposed to vertical implementation which is at the state and local levels. There are several specific
concerns with horizontal implementation which include the breakdown of coordination due to the
large structure of the federal government, language difficulties, lack of control due to the threat of
success by one particular agency, different perspectives, and direct change of intention due to factors
such as voter pressure. It s amazing that in the midst of all this that anything can be accomplished at
all, but thanks to the drive to be re elected, things have to get done on the federal level or else the
person in question will be renounced from power.
So now that a foundation of the processes controlling these acts has been established, the question
arises, what exactly is the Endangered Species Act?
As one author puts it, quot; The Endangered Species Act of 1973, perhaps more than any other
environmental law, dares to draw an unwavering line in the path of
American progress. It boldly says in essence, Thou shalt not cause any species of plant or animal to go
extinct. As the rampart transformation of natural America for exurban development, water division
projects, and timber cutting pushes

Criminal Defense Lawyer
Regardless of where you live, everyone knows that criminal offenses are no joke and come with
weighty penalties if one is found guilty. These might include lengthy jail terms, heavy fines or a
combination of the two; it all depends on the nature of the charges. A good criminal defense lawyer
will fight by your side and do everything imaginable to ensure that you do not have to face harsh
penalties. Furthermore they can prevent criminal charges from making an appearance on your criminal
record. This very important element goes a long way in protecting your reputation and credibility
whiling ensuring that you do not harm your future chances of being employed.
A good criminal defense lawyer comes in handy when charged with a crime, whether or not the charge

This means they will make better and more compelling arguments in their attempt to persuade the
judge to make a favorable ruling. Secondly, a lawyer who combines good presence and respect in the
courts is preferable to a criminal defense attorney who has one of the two qualities. This is for the
simple reason that the more respect an attorney has in a court, the better his or her chances of
negotiating with the judge (to rule on critical motions in your favor) will be. Thirdly, experience is
key. Always go for a lawyer who has many years of experience. The more experienced your criminal
defense attorney has, the more suited they will be at analyzing your case. It is especially true if you are
charged with a serious crime like vehicular manslaughter. They are also likely to understand your case
better and faster than an attorney who is fresh at the bar. This is because they are more likely to have

Disadvantages Of Smart Health Cards
SMART HEALTH CARD
ABSTRACT :
The scope of this paper is to bring about digitization in healthcare, where each individual s health
records are uploaded to the cloud and are accessed by a smart health card.
Smart card is used in information technology as a portable integrated device with data storage and
data processing capabilities. In other fields, smart cards used in health systems became popular due to
their increased capability and performance. Its efficient use with easy and fast data access leads to
implementation especially in security systems.
This paper has been done to concentrate on smart health cards which would be very useful to patients
who suffer from chronic illness. Smart cards are used for personal identification and transfer of health
data and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They tend to get damaged very easily. There is no guarantee that it can be kept safe for many years by
the patient. They are difficult to maintain over a longer period of time. In case of any accidents, if the
person readily has the smart health card with him or her, medication can immediately be done by
looking at their medical history. If the person gets unwell suddenly in a place where he or she has got
no manual medical reports with them, then smart health cards will be of great use since there is no
difficulty in carrying them to any place.
ADVANTAGES OF SMART HEALTH CARDS : They are easily portable. Records can be
maintained easily over a longer period of time. A complete medical history of the patient will be
available. Even if the patient is not able to explain his medical condition to any doctor, it can be easily
known from this card. It cannot be easily damaged. Even if the card is lost, the records of the patient
are not list since they are permanently present in the cloud. If their respective account is signed up
with the new card, their records are backed up to the new card.

Uniform Crime Statistics
Although crime has been around for ages, we only started collecting crime data around the 1930 s.
Crime statistics show a lot about a country, state, county, etc. Crime can be linked to the environment,
behavior of others, and personal experiences, it all depends on how the person deals with the hand
they are dealt. Crime data is collected from three sources, which are uniform crime reports (UCR),
national incident based reporting system (NIBRS), and national crime victimization survey (NCVS).
Originally crime data began in the summer of 1870, when congress passed the law creating the
department of justice. When the department of justice was created, their duties was to make reports to
give to congress based on the crimes happening. During ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Today most all states participate in crime statistics. Years ago, not every state would turn in their crime
reports, which effected the total percentage of crimes in the nation. The Federal Bureau of
Investigation (FBI) and Bureau of Justice Statistics report crime statistics. Police stations from all over
the U.S. send their reports of crimes to the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Justice
Statistics. For example, a police station will report to the FBI that they had twenty one reports of
robberies for the current year. The Uniform Crime Report (UCR) is a report that is used for the more
serious crimes, such as forcible rape, murder, arson, etc. The UCR is calculated three different ways.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation are specific about the number of how many incidences were
reported for a certain crime. Also, when the FBI calculates the percentages of the crime reports for a
crime and compares the crime rates and an examination is completed to tell if the crime rate has
increased or decreased for the current year. The Uniform Crime Reports (UCR) also calculates the
number of crimes out of one hundred thousand people. Another report the FBI creates is the National
Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS), this report is an elaborated version of the UCR. It takes all
the serious crimes from the Uniform Crime Reports and breaks them down into certain categories that
creates more vivid reports. These reports are very well detailed and give more information about the
crimes, like how many people were arrested. The National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS)
is collected from police stations around the United States. The NIBRS is a report of basically incident
reports. The Uniform Crime Reports (UCR) and National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS)
reports are the most used reports to view crime statistics in the United

The Deep Oceanic Trenches Near Thermal Vents
Objective:
How to find evidence of life in deep oceanic trenches near thermal vents
Introduction:
Deep ocean trenches are environments that have historically been shrouded in mystery, their
inaccessibility rendering such limited explorations as net dragging and dredging for samples (Lee,
2012). While potential for chemosynthesis had been proposed as long ago as 1890, it was nearly a
century later before such systems were demonstrated to be active on the ocean floor (German, 2011).
Further investigation has shown that ecosystems are surviving and thriving along the ocean floor
within these trenches. Studies have shown that deep ocean trenches contain ecosystems that are
biologically and geologically active, producing a high diversity of organisms that must withstand a
variety of environmental changes (Anderson et al., 2014). Recent explorations have confirmed new
forms of life in deep ocean trenches. Life discovered in such an extreme environment is call for
investigation.
We will analyze 5000 grab samples from the deep oceanic trench to determine if the samples are dead,
alive, or have never had life. We are attempting to create a picture of what life is like on the bottom of
the ocean. To figure this out, we will categorize these samples, determining what has/had life and
never has. In all cases, wherever there are chemically reduced compounds present, microbial activity
is enhanced (German, 2011). Deep sea trenches are underwater vents to the core of the earth that

Stereotypes In Billy Elliot
In the film Billy Elliot directed by Stephen Daldry, Michael is a thought provoking character because
he is portrayed as both gay and a cross dresser. With the film being set during the 1984 1985 coal
miners strike. Michael lives in Everington, Durham, a small town in north eastern England where you
re either a straight girl or a straight man and the community is very black and white and there is no
grey area in between area for people like Michael.
In the film Billy Elliot Michael is seen to be interested in cross dressing and frequently dresses up in
his sister s dresses and puts on his mother s makeup (most notably her lipstick). The long shot of him

Along with the struggles of growing up in a community where he doesn t fit the expected norm for
male behaviour, Michael has an alcoholic and abusive father who believes heavily in the gender
stereotypes perpetuated throughout the film and disapproves heavily of Michael s behaviour. All this
strain on Michael makes it hard for him to have a normal childhood as he struggles with the
challenges of growing up in a community where you don t fit the mold of what a man should be like.
This is shown in the scene when he and Billy are wearing tutus and dancing in the boxing hall and get
caught by two angry parents who then proceed to call them both poofs and sissies for dancing
together. Michael is also seen at the end of the film to have his male partner sitting next to him. This
relates to the audience because at some point in their life everyone feels like they don t fit in with the
majority of their community, whether it is a small difference or a large one people are all unique but
sometimes can feel like they are the only one fighting against the world. In Michael s case he has to
grow up hiding his true self and not being able to express his feelings as the community he lives in is
heavily embedded in traditional gender roles and stereotypes and does not accept people who don t fit
within the black and white

Determinism Vs Libertarianism
Akash Shankar Richard Pulling 7 23 2015 Philosophy Are You Free The concept of determinism,
compatibilism and libertarianism is truly trying to explain if we are free and if so how much. Some of
us believe that we are the masters of our fate, our soul while others believe our destiny is
predetermined and that we are bound to a certain set goal in life. The concepts of determinism,
compatibilism and libertarianism try to help aid in that discussion and help enlighten us on what we
believe is the correct ideology. It is therefore extremely important to define what each of these three
concepts mean before comparing and contrasting the various arguments that each present. First off is
determinism, this is a view that every event, including human ... Show more content on

For example the deterministic view has one major weak side that is clearly seen in the Loeb and
Leopold case. Richard Loeb and Nathan Leopold were two young men who had privileged families
and attended the best schools. However they murdered a fourteen year old boy to experience the thrill
of killing someone. The public wanted the death penalty to be handed down but attorney Clarence
Darrow fought and won a life imprisonment verdict (Chaffee 177).The attorney employed a hard
determinist argument to show the judge that his clients were victims of circumstance and they were
beyond their own control. He even says in the trial that nature is strong and she is pitiless. She works
in her own mysterious way, and we are her victims (Chaffee 177). His argument obviously worked as
the two young men were not sentenced to death. This one case in my opinion shows how determinism
does not make sense to me. I absolutely believe that the environment and the way were brought up has
an effect on how we act on the decisions we make. But at the end of the day I also believe that we
should be fully help responsible for the actions that we make. These two young men in my opinion
should have been punished to the full degree. The deterministic argument puts too much emphasis on
the environment and other factors instead of one s self in my opinion. I could be taught and raised to

Bloods and Crips exist in smaller groups in the prison system, but usually have what appears to be
some sort of truce, while serving their prison term. If they do form these small groups, it is because
they are looking for protection. If the African American gang member decides to be part of the gang
they usually decide to side with the prison gang, The Black Guerrilla Family, which is the largest
African American prison gang. However, the Hispanic gang members in and out of prison are
interdependent on each other s support and representation. is that the Hispanic gangs on the streets are

The Role Of Detective Sherlock Holmes By Arthur Conan Doyle
Arthur Conan Doyle
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote novels, short stories, poems and autobiographical works. In 1890, his
novel, A Study in Scarlet, introduced the character of Detective Sherlock Holmes. Sir Arthur would go
on to write 60 stories about Sherlock Holmes. He also strove to spread his spiritualism and faith
through a series of books that were written from 1918 to 1926. Doyle had many struggles in his life,
but became a better person through all the hard times. His struggles show how much he was driven to
become something great and inspiring.
On May 22, 1859, Arthur Conan Doyle was born in Edinburgh, Scotland to a Catholic family of ten.
At the age of 9, Doyle bid a tearful goodbye to his parents and was shipped off to England, where he
would attend Hodder Place, Stonyhurst a Jesuit preparatory school from 1868 to
1870(Biography.com). His father, Charles Altamont Doyle, had been an architect and an artist.
Unfortunately, his talents were shadowed by alcoholism and epilepsy. He eventually died in an asylum
where he was institutionalized. The family, therefore suffered financially, though Doyle s mother,
Mary, was able to pay for his schooling at a Jesuit institution (Grade Saver).
Doyle decided to pursue medical studies at Edinburgh University, and had to take a job as a doctor s
assistant to pay for his school fees. He was already writing and publishing stories but, set up a practice
in Southsea in the early 1800 s. During this period, he completed the first

Correlation Between Low Income And Violent Crime Rate Essay
The relationship between Crime and less fortunate people cannot underestimated; it may just be the
way the media has conditioned us to characterize what a criminal looks like and how they live their
lives. There are many low income cities and crime rates widespread across America. One may say that
people with low income have nothing to lose when they commit crime or depressed or desperate to the
point that they will commit crimes for the profit of money. Even though crime is committed at all
walks of life, one can still pose a question to know if crime is more likely to be committed by people
with low income that those with high income.

Does low income increase crime rate in the USA?
This paper explores the relationship between low income and violent crime rate in Unite State over
some period of time. This question is research is interested in how income inequality increases crime
rate. Between 1975 to 2004 research shows that income earned by the top 5% of America families

Essay about Slaughtering for the Humanness of Horses
Slaughtering for the Humanness of Horses
The closing of slaughterhouses in the United States for horses has resulted in inhumane treatment and
gross neglect for thousands of horses. Congressmen, lobbyists, activists, actors, and every day people
have petitioned for these death traps to be destroyed, all for the benefit of the horse. The horse, who
cannot speak, can only react to his surroundings. The ones to be benefited are the people who see this
as cruel, and inhumane; to give them a clear conscious, because they feel endeared to this animal. I,
too, am endeared to this animal, but understand that the horse has been put in, an all too often,
precarious situation, that even death, cannot come quick enough.

The Child Of A Pastor And A Housewife

and an artist during the 19th century. His invention of the telegraph, along with the creation of the
famous Morse code used to send messages across a radio wave, would change the history and use of
messaging. These inventions would make a huge impact during certain events like the Civil War and
the tragic sinking of the Titanic. Samuel Finley Breese Morse was born on April 27, 1791 in
Charlestown, Massachusetts, to Jeddiah Morse and Elizabeth Ann Finley, whom they named after

be used to send messages across the telegraph; this would later be named after him as Morse code.

Analysis Of Stephen Crane s A Mystery Of Heroism Essay
Thuan Le
Mrs. Jaspard

Realism in Stephen Crane.
When a conflict between two powers reaches its peak, the war becomes inevitable. This usually leads
to the change in roles among men and women. Men turn into soldiers and women turn into field
nurses. . Living under critical conditions, one could die easily just by walking out the street or starving
to death due to uncontrollable hysteria. In such situations, one could truly reveal his personality by
either saving themselves or other individuals. .For that reason, Stephen Crane s short story A Mystery
of Heroism portrays the hidden heroism act that revolves around the main character, Collins. Through
the challenges and problems that Collins encounters , Crane exemplifies the belief that war is cruel
and meaningless.
From the beginning , Crane shows us war is all about destruction, demolition and nothing more but
blood. He does this by introducing a character named Fred Collins, who is described as an ordinary
soldier who knows nothing about the purpose of the war. In the story, the character is going through a

A Case Control Study On Birth Defects
In 2002, a case control study was started in Brittanny, France. The candidates were women who were
well into their second trimester (Douglas). Out of this study, they concluded that 79 out of the 580
babies were born with birth defects (Douglas). The mothers were questioned about their home lives
and their hobbies, along with their occupation. Twenty nine percent of the women were found to be
exposed to these solvents based on the products they use in their home while twenty one percent of
women were exposed to harmful products through their profession (Douglas). Women who reported
regular exposure to solvents were four times more likely to have a baby with an oral cleft as compared
to women who did not report regular exposure. Using job ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hormones are the building blocks of life. Without them, you can t create new lives. However,
hormones are starting to cause people to worry. Breast development is on the rise. Girls, on average,
are beginning to mature and grow breasts at the age of nine, which causes one to raise suspicion
considering how the average in the 1960 s was around age 11 (Steingraber 746). Early breast
development can be linked to breast cancer later on in life. A common misconception is that all man
made chemicals are harmful, and all natural chemicals are good for us. However, many natural
chemicals are just as harmful to human health, if not more so (Lorch). Dorea Reeser provides a
different perspective to counteract the harmful effects of manmade chemicals. Dorea Reeser upholds a
Ph. D. in environmental chemistry at the University of Toronto. She researches and studies the
chemical reactions at water surfaces, and how the chemical and physical properties influence these
reactions and the release of important trace gases into the troposphere.
The idea that nature can harm us is not new. Have you ever heard of malaria, HIV, tuberculosis,
botulism or tetanus? Why, then, are so many convinced that anything and everything natural is
healthier for us than synthetic products? It s true that modern chemistry has brought us a number of
toxic chemicals, like DDT and dioxins, but do you really think that nature s chemicals are any less

Total War Research Paper
Total war is a government s mobilisation of all its resources to support the efforts of its own troops
and undermine those of its opponents. The British empire was in a state of total war after the euphoric
atmosphere of going to war to fight for King and Country had died down. This resulted in the Defence
of the Realm Act, known as DORA where all civilians were expected to contribute to the war effort. A

many civilians. Source 12.10 demonstrates total

Symbolism In The Giving Tree By Shel Silverstein
The act of unconditional giving is held in high regards by many cultures as the highest form of love.
From birth on, parents are there for all the ups and downs in their child s life. Shel Silverstein, author
of The Giving Tree, has written a story about the representation of the relationship between a mother
and child. In the The Giving Tree, children are welcomed to realize the effects their mother has on
their life that one seems to fail to appreciate as they adventure throughout life. Silverstein uses
symbolism to emphasize that throughout all stages of life no matter how old, busy, or tired one is, a
mom will always be willing to give them unconditional love even when she has nothing else to offer.
During childhood, children look up ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In The Giving Tree, much later in life, the boy, now quite old, returns to the tree one last time. Though
alone and enfeebled, he is still wanting for a place to sit and rest. Yet again, the tree lovingly obliges:
straightening up her much diminished self, she invites him to sit on her stump. No matter where life
takes a person at the end of the day a mother will always be there for companionship to ward off the
loneliness even when she has nothing left to give a child. Even through all the years of children
continuously taking from their mother, she would still always want to keep giving because what
mother does not want to see her child succeed and be ultimately happy? Like all good mothers, the
tree is no doubt happy to know that she could help when needed. However more importantly, like the
ideal mother she is, the tree seems to understand both the character and limits of her own motherly
powers. She knows the very sensibilities she so carefully encouraged when the boy was young would
one day cause him to want a life of his own. She knows she must understand and accept the choices
the boy makes even when they seem unwise and misguided. She knows she cannot predict or arrange
the boy s future. Most especially, from the beginning of life she knows the life she encourages for the
boy will cost her her own, She anticipates necessity by giving her young child

December 14th 2016
Considering Virtue Niccolo Machiavelli s thought on virtue has been analyzed in many ways, but no
one has ever got the right answer to what Machiavelli himself meant. According to Machiavelli virtue
is defined as generosity and compassion that are praised by others. Few have analyzed on the writings
of Machiavelli s concept; this assignment is hard to understand because its not clear what Machiavelli
means. Virtue has many meanings, but one of the main points in philosophy is that virtue is a part of
good life. Politically sometimes virtue can be used as skill and strength either as force or potential.
Virtue is mostly linked with understanding and controlling the world. In this essay I will be discussing
what Machiavelli thinks that a prince should do and what they shouldn t do in order to become a
successful ruler. Machiavelli chose harsh over generous and hard over soft. Although not every ...

rather than those who are generous. People hate the truth most of the times, because everyone knows
that the truth is also hard to take. Some like being lied as long as the news is good, because they are

White Tail Deer Research Paper
Habitat
The White tail deer can often be found all over southern Canada and most parts of the United States.
Their range extends throughout Central America to Bolivia. This sophisticated animal s habitat range
is usually less than a square mile. Some of the White tail deer s habitats include grasslands, prairies
and plains, mountains, and forests. These deer prefer a more sheltered habitat; they often reside in
forests, including hardwoods, coniferous, and tropical forests. However they may reside in forests
such as tropical forests for a more sheltered habitat. The White tale deer can adapt to their many
habitats and they have incredibly strong muscles in their leg that allow them to run up to speeds such
as 30 miles per hour! This is quite an advantage when it comes to running from predators. The White
tail deer has quite simple needs for a healthy life. Shelter from harmful weather or predators, food and
water, and the space to find food and water, and to attract a mate.

The Role Of The Transmission Of Knowledge Walter M. Miller...
The role of the transmission of knowledge in Walter M. Miller s A Canticle for Leibowitz is vital for
people to recall and study more of the past prior to the nuclear war. Our contemporary world
understands the significance contained in past literacy and oral traditions to teach us our civilization s
past, however, their current forms are not cherished by this generation due to technological advances.
Even though the situations and settings in the world of Canticle for Leibowitz and the contemporary
world differ, the use of each tradition remains alike even if one is cherished more than the other. More
so, the transmission of knowledge in the form of literacy, in the novel, is most reliable for teaching
about the past, while others (e.g. Simpletons) either view this form unfavorably or choose to abuse it
for their own satisfaction. Oral traditions, as well in the novel, are less favorable to higher authorities
of the Church due to its degree of reliability; yet, oral traditions can be instrumental for others to
spread wonder and fear. The 21st century utilizes new forms of oral traditions through online media,
and concern themselves less with literacy (e.g. books and newspapers).
Literacy is a vital and cautionary form that instructs the monks and our contemporary world about
man s past, however, literacy, outside of the Leibowitz abbey, is viewed as uninteresting and inferior;
furthermore, literacy is a danger that can support our own biases rather than truth. The

Graphic Design And Advertising
Graphic Design and Advertising Positive Impact on Our World.
Vision is the art of seeing the invisible ( Jonathon Swift). We have been indulging in the arts and have
used art as a way to express and interact with the people surrounding us. To the carved images on
rocks, and to the cartoons shown on the TV, the evolution of Graphic Design has shown us the
importance of typography, photographers, illustrators etc. have on our society. When paper, ink, and
pencils didn t exist, our ancestors would carve their warnings, messages, and emotions on rocks and
walls. Our ancestors don t realize that such small acts such as these was the beginning of a huge
movement, that wouldn t be recognized until thousands years later. During the 16th century, China
was able to establish a technique called woodblock printing or, the application of ink on raised curved
surface, that allowed multiple text and images to be made quickly. China s wide extension of printing
slowly reached the middle east and caused Europe to start producing woodblock broadsides and
printed books. The first printing press was constructed by Johannes Gutenberg, which was the first
metal movable type to create a large amount of printed books. In the Old days books were very rare,
expensive and were very valuable. The creation of the Printing press allowed books to be done faster,
cheaper and it allowed books to be more accessible to the public. Graphic Design or the art or skill of

during this time and gives a lot of information on people that ruled during that time. The novel goes
into detail about how lords rule Japan and how owning land is how people had power in Japan back
then. The novel also accurately portrays how this conflict over power between the lords of the lands

actually does not resolve the conflict between the clans. In this novel Paterson writes about a boy that

Comparison Contrast of Death of a Salesman and Glengarry Ross

Midterm Essay Question 4
Jeannine Russell

The True Criminal
Being a salesman has always carried a negative stigma since the early 1900s. Being seen as pushy,
high pressure, deceitful people; the dreaded activity of purchasing some car or new appliance has
haunted everyone at some point or another. Many words have come to describe salesman such as
sharks , cons , thieves etc., and these words have stuck with the profession throughout the century.
Two very realistic depictions of such phonies can be seen in Death of A Salesman by Arthur Miller

Much to his chagrin is the new reality he is facing, where it s all cut and dried, and there s no chance
for bringing friendship to bear (Miller 1089). In contrast, Levene takes on the role of cut and dried
sales techniques, often using his other associates as pretend clients in order to just make the sell,
whether or not he s tricking extorting money out of his clients. Right from the beginning, he is trying
to con leads out of Williamson, his supervisor. ... I need the leads... , he boldly tells Williamson who
reluctantly begins to make him a deal (Mamet 1418). Right from the get go, Leven is already using the
manipulation techniques he uses day in and day out on his co workers even. Loman pushes his honest,
integrity, and personality traits as the key to selling success, though we see an obvious decline in his
selling abilities compared to the others. That being said, both characters are still very flawed with
illusions of owning their own companies and waiting for the right client to come along. They both still
have some nasty personality traits and are still putting on a façade to trick people; however, Willy
Loman is tricking his family while Shelly Levene is tricking his consumers. Hard selling is a selling
technique in which the salesman manipulates the psychological state of the consumer in order to
achieve a sale, whether or not the sale is good (Baron amp; Branscombe). There is little concern for

A Rainy Day And The Temperatures
The Path 1. Today is a rainy day and the temperature has been in the low forties all day. The
environment has shaped my behavior immensely today. I tend to be extremely productive on rainy
days. I love the rain and it puts me in a mellow happy mood and when I m in those moods I tend to do
things to improve my day of life like cleaning and doing homework. Tweaking the environment is
about making the right behaviors a little bit easier and the wrong behavior a little bit harder. I am
actually writing a majority of this paper today, which happens to be black Friday. Usually on black
Friday my parents make my brother and I leave the house. My mom and dad go shopping early in the
morning and wrap a lot of the presents later in the day. Since it was raining and I was kicked out of the
house for the greater good, I figured I would trap myself in Starbucks and crank out as much work as I
could. Having the change of setting and mood of the environment around me I was able to stay more
focused than I would have if I were trying to do work on my kitchen table. I am a person who gets
easily distracted so shaping the environment to make change easier for me would consist of trial and
error for what works. Trying new things and recording their outcome, then sticking to what works best

To some the mistakes that are made throughout life are considered as deeds that define what others

Technology And Modern Society
Sometimes in life, we have to learn how to take a joke. In a society where making fun of a serious
issue is often looked down upon, people tend to lose their sense of humor and forget about
maintaining a positive mindset. Although there are situations and events that should not be made fun
of, there are still minor flaws in society that should be pointed out. One of these flaws is the way
technology is being used by today s generation. Our minds are becoming consumed and preoccupied
by modern technology. The advancement of technology has had an enormous impact on our world.
Whether it has had a positive or negative impact is debatable, however, technology has indeed
changed the lives of millions of people around the world. One journalist who efficiently managed to
describe this issue is Peter Greene. Peter Greene is a contributor for the Huffington Post. His satire A
Classroom of Tomorrow takes place in a classroom where the teacher is focusing his/her lesson more
on the sponsored technology than actually teaching the children. This piece of satire was intriguing
due to the fact that it focused on a concept that is prevalent in today s world. As technology continues
to develop day by day, more questions about the use of technology arise. Technology is a pivotal
aspect of modern society which is why Greene felt the need to talk about issues surrounding
technology. This piece of satire also focusses on America s education system and the funding behind
it. In the satire, the school prioritized sponsorships. If a student did not have a sponsorship deal, they
were perceived as poor. As a result, they were not given the same quality of education as the other
students who did have sponsorship deals. This issue corresponds with a larger issue in America which
is the funding given to public schools. Schools are mostly funded by the local and state governments.
The issue with this is that the poorer regions are given less funding for their schools. This drastically
affects a student s learning experience since their quality of education and their access to resources are
dependent on their financial situation. The main targets of this satire are poverty, the government, and
the way people of this generation are

This exercise is done with a barbell and a incline bench ( Exercises ). The way to do this exercise is to
lie down faced up on an incline bench. The exerciser grips the bar with a medium width grip and lifts
the bar off of the rack ( Exercises ). the exerciser then holds the bar straight over his or her head, and
keeps the arms locked. This is the starting position of the exercise. Next the exerciser inhales slowly
while moving the bar slowly down toward the upper chest ( Exercises ). After a slight pause, the
exerciser pushes the bar back to the starting position while exhaling and the arms should be locked.
Before the exerciser brings the bar back down again the exerciser squeeze the chest for a second. The
exerciser repeats the process for the desired number of repetitions. When the exerciser is finished with
the exercise the bar should be placed back on the rack ( Exercises ). An exerciser plans to train each of

Social And Economic Causes Of Irish Immigration
My family is Irish. The typical Irish immigrant came to america because of political culture and
persecution, economic reasons, social and religious reasons and the potato famine. Political culture
and persecution caused them to immigrate because of Austere taxation and tithes policies, cruel
landlords, sponsorship of land prices increased, causing already poor families to be thrown out on the
streets, and no catholics were allowed to own land. Economics caused them to immigrate because new
farming techniques increased, decreasing the need for agricultural laborers and manufacturing
industries sprang up, causing less emphasis in farming. Social and religious reasons were a cause of
irish immigration because catholics were not said to be loyal

How Does the Development of Core Competencies Provide Both...
How does the development of core competencies provide both advantages and disadvantages for an
organisation? What steps can managers take to prevent core competencies becoming core rigidities? In
today s world competition among firms becomes globalized and more intense. In order to become
superiorly competitive, companies should enhance its competencies in a way that will allow them to
achieve dominant position in a market. One way of accomplishing it is by development of core
competencies. Competencies are considered core if they are skillfully performed and are principal to
company s strategy and its competiveness (Thompson et al, 2013). They are result of collective
learning activities (Prohalad and Hamel, 1990), a combination of ... Show more content on

For instance, mentioned by some participants in the discussion, Nokia lost its leadership in production
of mobile phones as they were unable to adapt to the new era of phones pioneered by Iphone. There
has been general consensus throughout the discussion that applying dynamic capabilities approach can
prevent core competencies becoming core rigidities. The idea of dynamic capabilities lies in a
necessity of a company to create, extend and modify its resource base, whether it would be minor
continuous improvements; creation of new resources or combination of existing ones in new ways; or
a complete renewing of the resource base, depending on how dynamic the environment is, in order to
sustain competitive advantage and address external changes. What is important here is the managers
perception of the environmental dynamism that providesthe basis for their ability to identify the need
for changes and extend those changes when necessary. According to Amrosini et al (2009), managers
who fail to identify correctly the environmental dynamism may react not accordingly to the actual
environment and, thus, apply insufficient changes (risk of strategic shift), prefer predictability of

Alzheimer s Disease Personal Statement
Alzheimer s disease not only degrades a patient s quality of life during their final years, but
additionally steals those precious years before death away from the families. This gruesome disease
also affects my family; alzheimer s runs on my grandmother s side and has lead to the deterioration of
many strong women. This personal connection has had a pivotal role in my life decisions and goals,
leading me to pursue an M.D/Ph.D with a specialty in neurology in order to focus on the clinical
research of Alzheimer s disease. To take part in the NINDS program means gaining experience in the
way that actual research runs, seeing how scientists and clinicians collaborate, and glimpsing into the
life of a clinician. Thus, this experience will promote my career by providing an advantage over the
competition when applying to medical schools, moreover giving me knowledge and experience to
draw upon when entering into my own research. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This experience scared me to my core considering that that could be the future for not only my
grandmother, but grandparents everywhere. Seeing that made me realize that no one else deserves to
deal with this disease. My life s mission is to find treatments and possibly a cure for Alzheimer s. That
is why I wish to take part in the NINDS program; it provides the unique opportunity to not only
conduct research on neurological disorders, but also to learn about how clinicians work with patients
on a daily basis to put into practice the ideas that research brings

O Connor s `` A Good Man Is Hard For Find `` And ``...
Flannery O Connor was a devout catholic whose writing was a reflection of the violence in the
temporal world. O Connor suffered with lupus which had a grave impact on her life, but that didn t
stop her from publishing many stories that achieved awards. O Connor s stories, A Good Man Is Hard
to Find and Good Country People are two examples of the talented woman s works that gained
popularity over the years. Through analyzing these short stories, one could insinuate that there are
many commonalities between the setting, characters, and themes of these stories.
In A Good Man Is Hard to Find, O Connor immediately introduces an older woman who was
completely against taking a family trip to Florida. Instead she was determined to redirect their trip
toward Tennessee. O Connor includes brief details of the woman that could lead the reader to believe
that she isn t completely sane. For example, as the old lady gets into the car, she was hiding a basket
with Pitty Sing, the cat, in it, (612). Fearing that the cat would miss her too much. The woman also
overdressed herself to the point where she was completely gaudy in case of an accident, anyone seeing
her dead on the highway would know at once that she was a lady, (612). These silly characteristics
create a witty scene for the road trip.
Along the way, the family stops to grab some food at a barbecue joint and the grandmother discusses
the unlikelihood of finding a trustworthy man during such a time with the owner of

Although comfort women regularly got medical examinations for the purpose of preventing sexual

Low Carbohydrate Diets Or Ketosis Diets Essay
Very low carbohydrate diets or ketosis diets have become increasingly popular for weight loss. There
is evidence from individual trials about the benefits and risks of a low carbohydrate diet verses a fat
restricted diet (2).The objective of this paper is to discover whether low carbohydrate diets have more
beneficial health related solutions verses a fat restricted diet. In one study, a traditional low fat diet
was compared to a low carbohydrate diet amongst people who have type two diabetes. The results
show that only a low carbohydrate diet provided significant improvement of the inflammatory state
and type two diabetes. In another study,Evidence supports a low carbohydrate diet for weight loss and
improvement in traditional cardiovascular disease. The effects of a low carbohydrate diet and a low fat
diet were examined for 12 months among 148 obese adults free of diabetes and cardiovascular
disease. At 12 months participants of low carbohydrate diet had significantly greater increases in
adiponecin than those on a low fat diet, as resulting low carbohydrate diet had a similar or greater
improvement then standard low fat diet. In another study, 148 men and women without cardiovascular
disease or diabetes were put into either low carbohydrate diet or low fat diet. Both groups received
dietary counseling regularly. Data was collected every three months. Results stated that those on low
carbohydrate diet have greater decrease in weight and greater increase in HDL

The Floor Is A Room Of Blood
I awoke to the sound of metal clanking against the floor. My head throbbed; my back feels like I was
thrown off a balcony. All I could see was four walls bare and lifeless, no doors or windows at all. As I
slowly climb to my feet I suddenly fall. I notice that I have a big long scar on the side of my torso. I
look around and all I see on the concrete like floor is a pool of blood. I lay on the floor in agony. I
notice that the ceiling has a long crack spreading like the branches like a tree, with water dripping at
the ends of the cracks. There is a light dangling from a few wires. There is also a small air vent in the
center of the ceiling. I sit up and I see a ladder leaning against one of the walls. I roll onto my stomach
and crawl to the ladder. The ground feels like it s made of broken glass. I continue to crawl with all of
my strength. I manage to get to the ladder and I use it to help me stand up. I fall twice then I am
finally able to stand on my feet. I slowly walk to the middle of the room and look at the air vent and
see that there is something in the vent just behind the cover. I walked to the ladder and dragged it to
the vent. The loud screech echoed against the walls. I manage to get the ladder under the vent. I reach
out to pull off the cover and I see that the cover is screwed into the ceiling, I look around the cover
and I see that one of the corners is not completely screwed in. I claw at the corner and it comes loose,
I pull it downwards and the cover

The Lives of Working Children from Labouring Families at...
At the end of the Nineteenth century life was difficult for labouring classes due to the constant long
hours of manual labour, the financial problems from the low pay, and the stresses of pandemics across
the country. Working Children/Adults had difficult lives because their jobs were usually severely
energy consuming and in extremely bad cases some developed deformities due to their ruthless
occupations. Additionally, family life could be difficult due to the insufficient wages and therefore a
possibly inadequate amount of food. Luxuries were also scarce among the family and dependent on
their jobs, families would rarely see one and other. Housing was also huge issue in the industrial
revolution due to the highly populated cities where there were small but populated and cramped
houses spreading diseases very quickly. The lives of working children from labouring class families at
the end of Nineteenth century were hard, tough and strenuous. Children normally had to work because
not enough money was being made in their family however the factories preferred to employ orphans
because there were many in the orphanages and they could be easily replaced if an accident was to
happen. Additionally, although these jobs did not earn much, it was normally enough to buy them a
meal (under 11 year old boys in Lancashire received 2s3d). Children were necessary to do small jobs
in small spaces which adults could not do due to their size therefore there were many job opportunities

  • 2. Argumentative Essay On Global Citizenship While the very definition of the term global citizenship may vary, The Global Citizens Initiative has simplified such profound term into a person who identifies with being part of an emerging world community and whose actions contribute to building this community s values and practices (Israel, 2012). When looking at citizenship from a worldview, cosmopolitanism and globalization are the two main factors that are inevitably crucial, as they expand one s perspective to the extent where one individual form a global link and form a relationship based on shared beliefs and inclusive mutual respect, which also resulted in interconnectedness and intercultural communication. Cosmopolitanism is the belief system that every single individual has a place with a solitary group, in view of a mutual ethical quality. In political phrases, it consists of an ideological function of awareness and criticism. In sociological phrases, it is far a reconfigured device for members of the family in a worldwide global (Gonçalves, 2015). To quote Appiah, cosmopolitanisms is an ideology that can be define as citizen of the world (cited in Brookes, 2006). Moreover, cosmopolitans additionally agree with that each one human beings come under the same ethical requirements. In the face of cosmopolitanisms, the limits between nations, states, cultures or societies are therefore morally inappropriate, as cosmopolitanism indicates a commitment to universal values (Pitty, Stokes Smith, 2008). ... It will critically discuss and analyze the areas of law in relation to the death of a baby, who was said to have died because she was born prematurely however it is argued that the events that led up to the birth, that is the stabbing of the mother by her mother s boyfriend when she was still a foetus is what contributed to the death of the baby. • 4. The Government And Environmental Policy Essay The Government and Environmental Policy The purpose of the United States public policy law is to implement restrictions in an effort to solve problems, which can be seen with the Clean Water Act. Public policy has also been employed to reform the Endangered Species Act of 1973. Although the United States government is noble in it s efforts to preserve the environment through these acts, the internal structure of public policy often retards these acts effectiveness. This paper will explore the many ways in which factors such as horizontal implementation, divided government, and other forms of public policy affect the environmental legislation involved with the aforementioned acts. The main factors involved with the Endangered Species ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And, of course, workset like incentives such as taxes, fees, allowances, refunds, and liability are used to enforce the laws effectively. Horizontal implementation refers specifically to implementation with the federal government, as opposed to vertical implementation which is at the state and local levels. There are several specific concerns with horizontal implementation which include the breakdown of coordination due to the large structure of the federal government, language difficulties, lack of control due to the threat of success by one particular agency, different perspectives, and direct change of intention due to factors such as voter pressure. It s amazing that in the midst of all this that anything can be accomplished at all, but thanks to the drive to be re elected, things have to get done on the federal level or else the person in question will be renounced from power. So now that a foundation of the processes controlling these acts has been established, the question arises, what exactly is the Endangered Species Act? As one author puts it, quot; The Endangered Species Act of 1973, perhaps more than any other environmental law, dares to draw an unwavering line in the path of American progress. It boldly says in essence, Thou shalt not cause any species of plant or animal to go extinct. This very important element goes a long way in protecting your reputation and credibility whiling ensuring that you do not harm your future chances of being employed. Thirdly, experience is key. Always go for a lawyer who has many years of experience. The more experienced your criminal defense attorney has, the more suited they will be at analyzing your case. Crime statistics show a lot about a country, state, county, etc. Crime can be linked to the environment, behavior of others, and personal experiences, it all depends on how the person deals with the hand they are dealt. Crime data is collected from three sources, which are uniform crime reports (UCR), national incident based reporting system (NIBRS), and national crime victimization survey (NCVS). The Federal Bureau of Investigation are specific about the number of how many incidences were reported for a certain crime. • 9. The Deep Oceanic Trenches Near Thermal Vents Objective: How to find evidence of life in deep oceanic trenches near thermal vents Introduction: Deep ocean trenches are environments that have historically been shrouded in mystery, their inaccessibility rendering such limited explorations as net dragging and dredging for samples (Lee, 2012). While potential for chemosynthesis had been proposed as long ago as 1890, it was nearly a century later before such systems were demonstrated to be active on the ocean floor (German, 2011). Further investigation has shown that ecosystems are surviving and thriving along the ocean floor within these trenches. Studies have shown that deep ocean trenches contain ecosystems that are biologically and geologically active, producing a high diversity of organisms that must withstand a variety of environmental changes (Anderson et al., 2014). Recent explorations have confirmed new forms of life in deep ocean trenches. Life discovered in such an extreme environment is call for investigation. We will analyze 5000 grab samples from the deep oceanic trench to determine if the samples are dead, alive, or have never had life. We are attempting to create a picture of what life is like on the bottom of the ocean. To figure this out, we will categorize these samples, determining what has/had life and never has. In all cases, wherever there are chemically reduced compounds present, microbial activity is enhanced (German, 2011). Deep sea trenches are underwater vents to the core of the earth that ... Along with the struggles of growing up in a community where he doesn t fit the expected norm for male behaviour, Michael has an alcoholic and abusive father who believes heavily in the gender stereotypes perpetuated throughout the film and disapproves heavily of Michael s behaviour. This is shown in the scene when he and Billy are wearing tutus and dancing in the boxing hall and get caught by two angry parents who then proceed to call them both poofs and sissies for dancing together. Michael is also seen at the end of the film to have his male partner sitting next to him. This relates to the audience because at some point in their life everyone feels like they don t fit in with the majority of their community, whether it is a small difference or a large one people are all unique but sometimes can feel like they are the only one fighting against the world. Determinism Vs Libertarianism Akash Shankar Richard Pulling 7 23 2015 Philosophy Are You Free The concept of determinism, compatibilism and libertarianism is truly trying to explain if we are free and if so how much. Some of us believe that we are the masters of our fate, our soul while others believe our destiny is predetermined and that we are bound to a certain set goal in life. The concepts of determinism, compatibilism and libertarianism try to help aid in that discussion and help enlighten us on what we believe is the correct ideology. It is therefore extremely important to define what each of these three concepts mean before comparing and contrasting the various arguments that each present. First off is determinism, this is a view that every event, including human ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example the deterministic view has one major weak side that is clearly seen in the Loeb and Leopold case. Richard Loeb and Nathan Leopold were two young men who had privileged families and attended the best schools. However they murdered a fourteen year old boy to experience the thrill of killing someone. The public wanted the death penalty to be handed down but attorney Clarence Darrow fought and won a life imprisonment verdict (Chaffee 177).The attorney employed a hard determinist argument to show the judge that his clients were victims of circumstance and they were beyond their own control. He even says in the trial that nature is strong and she is pitiless. She works in her own mysterious way, and we are her victims (Chaffee 177). His argument obviously worked as the two young men were not sentenced to death. This one case in my opinion shows how determinism does not make sense to me. I absolutely believe that the environment and the way were brought up has an effect on how we act on the decisions we make. But at the end of the day I also believe that we should be fully help responsible for the actions that we make. These two young men in my opinion should have been punished to the full degree. In 1890, his novel, A Study in Scarlet, introduced the character of Detective Sherlock Holmes. Sir Arthur would go on to write 60 stories about Sherlock Holmes. He also strove to spread his spiritualism and faith through a series of books that were written from 1918 to 1926. Doyle had many struggles in his life, but became a better person through all the hard times. His struggles show how much he was driven to become something great and inspiring. On May 22, 1859, Arthur Conan Doyle was born in Edinburgh, Scotland to a Catholic family of ten. At the age of 9, Doyle bid a tearful goodbye to his parents and was shipped off to England, where he would attend Hodder Place, Stonyhurst a Jesuit preparatory school from 1868 to 1870(Biography.com). His father, Charles Altamont Doyle, had been an architect and an artist. Unfortunately, his talents were shadowed by alcoholism and epilepsy. He eventually died in an asylum where he was institutionalized. Correlation Between Low Income And Violent Crime Rate Essay The relationship between Crime and less fortunate people cannot underestimated; it may just be the way the media has conditioned us to characterize what a criminal looks like and how they live their lives. There are many low income cities and crime rates widespread across America. One may say that people with low income have nothing to lose when they commit crime or depressed or desperate to the point that they will commit crimes for the profit of money. Even though crime is committed at all walks of life, one can still pose a question to know if crime is more likely to be committed by people with low income that those with high income. When a conflict between two powers reaches its peak, the war becomes inevitable. This usually leads to the change in roles among men and women. Men turn into soldiers and women turn into field nurses. . Living under critical conditions, one could die easily just by walking out the street or starving to death due to uncontrollable hysteria. In such situations, one could truly reveal his personality by either saving themselves or other individuals. .For that reason, Stephen Crane s short story A Mystery of Heroism portrays the hidden heroism act that revolves around the main character, Collins. Through the challenges and problems that Collins encounters , Crane exemplifies the belief that war is cruel and meaningless. From the beginning , Crane shows us war is all about destruction, demolition and nothing more but blood. He does this by introducing a character named Fred Collins, who is described as an ordinary soldier who knows nothing about the purpose of the war. In the story, the character is going through a mysterious battle where shells and bullets fire endlessly. In this battle, the bodies of many young soldiers appear to be dead. In addition, the field is endlessly being filled up with the flowing blood. The author characterizes the scene by saying, A lieutenant of the battery rode down and passed them, holding his right arm carefully in his left hand. This quote expresses an irony which ... Miller s A Canticle for Leibowitz is vital for people to recall and study more of the past prior to the nuclear war. Our contemporary world understands the significance contained in past literacy and oral traditions to teach us our civilization s past, however, their current forms are not cherished by this generation due to technological advances. Even though the situations and settings in the world of Canticle for Leibowitz and the contemporary world differ, the use of each tradition remains alike even if one is cherished more than the other. More so, the transmission of knowledge in the form of literacy, in the novel, is most reliable for teaching about the past, while others (e.g. Simpletons) either view this form unfavorably or choose to abuse it for their own satisfaction. Oral traditions, as well in the novel, are less favorable to higher authorities of the Church due to its degree of reliability; yet, oral traditions can be instrumental for others to spread wonder and fear. The 21st century utilizes new forms of oral traditions through online media, and concern themselves less with literacy (e.g. books and newspapers). His satire A Classroom of Tomorrow takes place in a classroom where the teacher is focusing his/her lesson more on the sponsored technology than actually teaching the children. This piece of satire was intriguing due to the fact that it focused on a concept that is prevalent in today s world. As technology continues to develop day by day, more questions about the use of technology arise. Technology is a pivotal aspect of modern society which is why Greene felt the need to talk about issues surrounding technology. This piece of satire also focusses on America s education system and the funding behind it. In the satire, the school prioritized sponsorships. If a student did not have a sponsorship deal, they were perceived as poor. As a result, they were not given the same quality of education as the other students who did have sponsorship deals. This issue corresponds with a larger issue in America which is the funding given to public schools. Schools are mostly funded by the local and state governments. The issue with this is that the poorer regions are given less funding for their schools. This drastically affects a student s learning experience since their quality of education and their access to resources are dependent on their financial situation. The main targets of this satire are poverty, the government, and the way people of this generation are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

All I could see was four walls bare and lifeless, no doors or windows at all. As I slowly climb to my feet I suddenly fall. I notice that I have a big long scar on the side of my torso. I look around and all I see on the concrete like floor is a pool of blood. I lay on the floor in agony. I notice that the ceiling has a long crack spreading like the branches like a tree, with water dripping at the ends of the cracks. There is a light dangling from a few wires. There is also a small air vent in the center of the ceiling. I sit up and I see a ladder leaning against one of the walls. I roll onto my stomach and crawl to the ladder. The ground feels like it s made of broken glass. I continue to crawl with all of my strength. I manage to get to the ladder and I use it to help me stand up. I fall twice then I am finally able to stand on my feet. I slowly walk to the middle of the room and look at the air vent and see that there is something in the vent just behind the cover. I walked to the ladder and dragged it to the vent. The loud screech echoed against the walls. I manage to get the ladder under the vent. At the end of the Nineteenth century life was difficult for labouring classes due to the constant long hours of manual labour, the financial problems from the low pay, and the stresses of pandemics across the country. Working Children/Adults had difficult lives because their jobs were usually severely energy consuming and in extremely bad cases some developed deformities due to their ruthless occupations. Additionally, family life could be difficult due to the insufficient wages and therefore a possibly inadequate amount of food. Luxuries were also scarce among the family and dependent on their jobs, families would rarely see one and other. Housing was also huge issue in the industrial revolution due to the highly populated cities where there were small but populated and cramped houses spreading diseases very quickly. The lives of working children from labouring class families at the end of Nineteenth century were hard, tough and strenuous. Children normally had to work because not enough money was being made in their family however the factories preferred to employ orphans because there were many in the orphanages and they could be easily replaced if an accident was to happen. Additionally, although these jobs did not earn much, it was normally enough to buy them a meal (under 11 year old boys in Lancashire received 2s3d).
