Meaning Of A Word By Gloria Naylor
Even though there are terms that has the same meaning as girl . There are different ways that
the word girl is used. In the essay, The Meaning of a Word by Gloria Naylor, She provided many
ways that the term nigger was used by her family. For one example, she explained in the essay that
the word was always applied to a man who had distinguished himself in some situation that bought
their approval for his strength, intelligence, or drive. Further along in the essay, she stated how the
word is used in the plural form. Many people used the word girlas describing a young woman,
object, or it can be used to convey any thought or emotion.
The definition of girl is usually a young, female child . According to Dictionary, The age limit

The Pros And Cons Of Separation Between Church And The States
The wall of separation between the church and the state has led to many political and social issues
within the country. Ever since Thomas Jefferson penned the phrase in his letter, it will always
come up when limitations have been pushed too far. It has become a sensitive matter to touch on,
especially when it comes to financial affairs. The issue of whether or not tax exemption benefits
should be retained among religious institutions continues to be widely debated. Churches, however
they are perceived to be by individuals, have a strong influence in the society. Aside from providing
spiritual guidance, their outreach programs and community services have given hope for the less
fortunate and have shaped many constituents to be a better version of themselves. In more ways
than one, their very presence uplifts one s well being. Donations from private sectors,... Show more

This is even pointed out in their official website. According to the IRS, the term church is found,
but not specifically defined in the Internal Revenue Code. To be considered a church, one entity
has to satisfy a combination of these attributes: (a) distinct legal existence, (b) recognized creed
and form of worship, (c) definite and distinct ecclesiastical government, (d) formal code of doctrine
and discipline, (e) distinct religious history, (f) membership not associated with any other church or
denomination, (g) organization of ordained ministers, (h) ordained ministers selected after
completing prescribed courses of study, (i) literature of its own, (j) established places of worship,
(k) regular congregations, (l) regular religious services, (m) Sunday schools for the religious
instruction of the young, and (n) schools for the preparation of its members (IRS, 2014). The IRS
then evaluates these attributes along with other factors to determine whether they are considered a
church under federal tax

Tales From The Trenches Chapter Summary
In this chapter, an analysis of personal stories are provided by various individuals in Rossett s
(2009) evaluation of performance analysis as a key component to the success of individuals in
various workplace environments. This is the basis of the title of chapter, Tales from the Trenches
that provide a practical implementation of performance analysis through biographical sketches.
The firsts story by Charlotte Donaldson describes the effect of performance analysis in the
banking sector. In this story, Donaldson describes how she utilized early forms of data collecting
computes to evaluate the training process for workers in the bank. In this mode Donaldson
proposes that (1) the performance analyst must talk to the stars as examples of... Show more content

The use of computers in the classroom has been a major component in the development training
for students to get ready for a more technologically advanced workplace. Sheldon defines the
problem of untrained administrators, teachers, and other public school officials that did not know
how to use the computers provided for educating the students. IN one example at the Rancho
Bizarro school, Sheldon defines the inability of educators to be trained in computer technology:
Teachers endured countless mind numbing sermons on the power of technology, but failed to
develop the necessary computer skills (Rossett 210). In this manner, the problem of performance
analysis for public school officials was a major barrier to properly educating the students. Turtle
Middle School is another example of a computer technology expert, Tiffany Banana, that was
brought in to order computers, and other technologies to educate the students. However, Miss
Banana brought new better faster software, but it was soon found that teachers did not seem to be
using their computers (Rossett 211). This is another aspect of Sheldon s evaluation of a public
school system that did not have a performance analysis process for using this type of technology for
student

Homecoming Quotes
Wow, that was quick. The entire semester just flew by!
This week we were given a set of subjects and given the task of finding quotes that relate to them.
The four that were selected, the Soldier Civilian Divide, War is Hell, Bravery and Cowardice, and
lastly, Homecoming.
Kevin started the discussion with his connection of passages that have to do with the idea of
homecoming. I think that homecoming plays a significant part of war, whether it be a soldier or
group of soldiers leaving the front line for good, or simply coming home for a short time. It s such
a crucial and important part of the war narrative and Kevin s quotes really put an emphasis on that.
He discusses the great importance of the idea and the actual act of coming home, and

What Is The Psychological, Social And Cultural Aspects Of...
From the time we are born, we are taught the correct way to act within society. We are taught the
rules of conduct of society and we learn to follow them in order to be socially normal. The second
we are born or even before we are born we are determined a gender. The rest of our life and the way
we are expected to act revolves around that gender. Our gender shapes who we are expected to be
and shapes an image in our parents head of who they want us to be. Gender plays a key role
throughout our life, it is defined as the psychological, social and cultural aspects of masculinity and
femininity(butler sweet,c,2017). Masculinity and femininity have been standardized into their own
stereotypes. For example, masculine is known as aggression, competitive, brave, etc. While
feminine is known as sensitive, weak, nurturing, etc. Because of these traits and these stereotypes
masculinity holds a higher power over femininity. Therefore, when the parents have the child and
they find out what gender they are they automatically uphold them and raise them according to
these standards. This begins to refer to gender socialization which is the process by which we
learn the rules and conduct the behavior of masculinity and femininity (butler sweet,c,2017).
Meaning, that from a young age, we learn the correct way to act within society, including the
correct way to act according to our biological gender. Once our parents know if we are a boy or a
girlthey decorate our room a certain way,

Advantage And Disadvantage Of Rectenna
Today s world scenario there is an necessity for an alternative energy source which replaces the on
hand source of energy. These include rectenna s, solar cells, harvesting human energy and wind
power. A new imminent rectenna system design incarnates an antenna, a Schottky diode, a
matching circuit and a DC filter. The harmonics rejection of the antenna is primarily used to reduce
the rectenna size. The filter implemention provides the various advantages in the antenna structure
such as Miniature of rectenna size, hence its become suitable for several applications where the size
and weight are well thought out as critical aspects. There is maximum energy conversion efficiency

INTRODUCTION Various energy harvesting techniques which form best alternative to the
existing energy resources. These include energy harvesting from wind energy, hydro power, tidal
power, geothermal and solar power. Solar rectennas are used to harvest solar power but those
rectennas are operates at GHz/THz and finds many disadvantages such as power fading,
complicated design procedure and high manufacturing technology. Thus, it has been recommanded
to use rectennas operating at low range of frequencies which consists of antennas not to harvest
solar power but to harvest electromagnetic waves. Instead of all those energy harvesting techniques
used to harvest resources like solar, wind and tidle, rectennas are simple and inexpensive to
construct. Voltage harvested can be doubled with help of DC up convertors
PN junction diode and transistor are used as rectifier for low frequency signal (low frequency RF
signal) but for microwaves (1 GHz and higher), Schottky diodes (si or GaAs ) with shorter transit
times are required. In the present case, we have chosen silicon based on availability, low cost, and
simulated performance. Similar to low frequency, high power applications, the diode is driven as a

Critically Examine Sociological Views of Sects in Society...
A sect is a subgroup of a religious, political or philosophical belief system, usually an offshoot of
a larger religious group. Although in past it was mostly used to refer to religious groups, it has
since expanded and in modern culture can refer to any organization that breaks away from a larger
one to follow a different set of rules and principles. Sects are smaller, less highly organised grouping
of committed believers who usually set themselves up in protest at what a church has become. Sects
usually have members who are usually numbered around the couple of hundred mark, showing the
main difference between them and the church.
According to Troeltsch (1931), sects are essentially the polar opposite of churches. They are much

Stark and Bainbridge (1985) are critical of typologies, arguing that there are always overlaps
between categories. Instead, they ran organisations on their tension contributed into society, as they
don t see all organised groups to be a threat. They say that Sects are small religious groups, which
are an offshoot of an existing religion and are in a high degree of tension with the outside world.
However, a problem with Stark and Bainbridge s definitions is that they argue that typologies do
not adequately categorise religions because the boundaries are not clear cut, but then produce their
own typology, which could be criticised for the same thing. For example, it is unclear how much
involvement members have to have for an organisation to be regarded as a sect.
Weber (1922), like Troeltsch, argues that sects tended to be amongst marginal groups in society,
that is, people outside the mainstream of social life who felt they weren t gaining economic
rewards from society they deserved. These sects developed a theodicy of disprivilege, which is a
religious explanation and justification for their disadvantages, which often promised them
salvation in the afterlife. Wilson (1970) also agrees with this explanation as he says that those in
situations like defeat in war, natural disasters and economic collapses would lead to these people
becoming marginalised and turning to new religions. However this isn t always the case as most
members from sects

The Phychosocial Theory Of Erikson s Psychosocial Development
Self Analysis
Every person is a unique individual. Each of us possesses characteristics and traits that may be
influenced either by genetic, environmental factors or both. These two factors are constantly
argued in the field of psychology. In my opinion as counselor, both perspectives have its respective
strengths and weaknesses. It is important to a counselor like me, to have deeper knowledge about
the different personality theories because it allows me to know myself more and understand the
people around me especially the counselees who trust my ability.
The Psychosocial Development Theory of Erik Erikson identifies eight stages that individual has
to pass through from infancy to late adulthood stages. I remember when my sister asked me to
look after my nephew who was at 5 months old. I was afraid to carry him the moment he cried
because he looked so fragile. However, I remember what Erikson said about this stage that it is
important to establish trust to the caregiver and provide the basic needs of the infant otherwise, the
mistrust will be developed. The moment I carried my nephew and hand him a toy, he stopped
crying and started to suck the toy. From the perspective of Jean Piaget, infants have neonatal
schemas or innate ability even before they have more experience about the world. From there I
understand clearly that babies have incredible reflexes which are untold to them and that make
them wonderful. As I continually observe my nephew who appears to

The Development Of Children s Education
5 7 years:
This age group of children will have to go through a transition from nursery to school; reception
year, (where practitioners still follow EYFS) and then children move on to key stage one, (where
teachers follow the National Curriculum Key Stage 1). Children s education is still based on play,
however now children have a lot more of adult led activities in which they learn to concentrate for
longer periods of time. The environment in schools that surrounds children is more complex
because the children get to learn more, therefore some displays might contain bigger amount of
more complex mathematical language than we can find in a nursery setting. As children go into
key stage 1, it isn t the only environmental look that changes, the equipment is also more
complex and advanced because it is aimed for children that are now at a higher stage of
mathematical development. As I discussed earlier Early Years Foundation Stage changes and
becomes the National Curriculum Key Stage 1; the system changes a little bit and instead of
carpet time that children used to have in the nursery becomes a lesson . Some children in reception
might still work on their emergent mathematics. However, as they move up to Key Stage 1,
children begin to learn a lot more complex mathematics and it is not longer emergent because they
have passed this stage which should be fully achieved by now...
Children who did not go to the nursery might find it harder to learn in school and achieve their

Nursing Philosophy And The Metaparadigm
According to Allison Marchuk, nursing philosophy is a statement of fundamental and universal
assumptions, beliefs, and principles about nature of knowledge and truth and the nature of the
entities represented in the metaparadigm (Marchuk, 2014). Nursing philosophy is the base of
practice for it ensures the application of knowledge, skills concepts, models and theories in the
provision of care. The practice of nursing is based on concepts of patient, nurse, health, and
environment. My professional nursing philosophy focuses on provision of human care/ family
centered patient care geared towards improvement and maintenance of health. Per Hamric,
advanced practice nursing is a patient focused care that deals with application of an expanded
range of competencies that will have an improved patient outcome (Hamric, Hanson, Tracy, O

Description Of The Botanical Boat Trip
Botanical Boat Trip
In the middle of the urban wilderness lies a more natural one, the Norfolk Botanical Gardens.
There, people can walk through an enchanted forest just a short drive from their home. I arrived
at the gatehouse to this wonderland ten minutes before I was due to embark. The road was
surrounded on either side by a thick forest of trees that blocked out most of the noise from the
airport and busy road outside, making me feel like I could be a thousand miles from civilization.
The cool wind and overcast sky seemed to be warning me of some approaching rain, leading me
to wonder if the boat would even go out. After parking in front of a low, stone building, I passed
through two sets of glass doors to arrive behind the building, followed the path out back down a
series of stone steps, stopped in front of the boat dock, and greeted the crew.
The young bearded man shivering in his Virginia Tech hoodie and shorts asked us, How s it
going? I will be your tour guide. My name is Michael, and my shipmate is Terry. We ask that you
sit in the back to keep the motor under the waves. The business focused pilot got right to his
station in the pilot s chair. My sister accompanied me, and soon our last shipmate of the day
arrived. Only three of us attended the boat tour that day. The threat of rain seemed to frighten off
other guests leaving the park empty and peaceful, but I pushed on, wanting to reach the lake outside
the garden and take in its magnificent view. As we

On the hot night of August 18, 2023, Canada was brutally attacked by a military organization

for seven months, until finally, CMF won. The people who survived were forced to join CMF,

that it was going to be up to him to take Canada back, considering he had an abnormal, secret power.

Pain Essay
Pain is defined as an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience that inevitably everyone in
society will experience at some stage throughout his or her lifespan, and every individuals
experience will differ from that of another s (Mac Lellan, 2006). This maybe due to any number of
factors that can affect an individual, such as age, gender, emotional state, culture, or previous
encounters with pain(Funnell, Koutoukidis, Lawrence, 2005). In this reflective assignment I will
discuss not only how some of those contributing factors affected a pain episode that I recently
experienced. But also how an inability by medical staff to carry out a simple pain assessment and to

But regardless of the pains cause and site of origin, for most people pain is simply as stated before
an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience (Mc Lellan, 2006).
An experience that medical professionals like to define in much broader terms, one that states
that Pain is whatever the patient says it is, existing wherever the experiencing person says it is
(Farrell, 2005). This definition very much emphasises how subjective in nature the whole pain
experience tends to be, because it relies not only totally on the patient s ability to self report on
their level of pain being experienced, but also on how effective their pain management
interventions have been (Farrell, 2005). This important tool known as a pain assessment not only
aids in making a diagnosis of a patient s medical condition, it also gives medical staff a reliable
indicator of the patient s location of pain, its quality and intensity, onset and duration, and any
measures that help to relief it (Crisp Taylor, 2009). A failure to carry out such an assessment could
result in not only in the patient suffering with unnecessary pain, but can also result in the patient
experiencing symptoms such as stress, fatigue, insomnia, an inability to eat or mobilize, social
isolation or depression (Crisp Taylor, 2009). Unfortunately these particular symptoms

Comparison of the Works of Smith and Morales
A literary comparison of What It s Like to Be a Black Girl by Patricia Smith and Child of the
Americas by Aurora Levins Morales The beauty of any work of Art is the hidden meaning in it,
or to be more accurate the concept or the thought which is the driving force, the main inspiration
for the artist. It is this thought that becomes the back bone of the work of Art, let it be anything
from a Painting, Sculpture, Music, Food and Literature. And since Literature provides us in
some manner the concept or the details of the main subject within its text form, therefore the
interpretation and the recognition of the main theme becomes fairly obvious. For this paper, we
would be considering two works of Literature, one is What it s like to be a Black Girl by Patricia
Smith and the second one being the Child of the Americas by Aurora Levins Morales. Both of
these poems take up the topic of racism and how it is to belong to an American society labeled
as one race or the other. The paper would also see if and how the same subject of racism has been
approached by the two poets in different manner and what their personal feelings are of the
concerned subject. Born in 1955, Patricia Smith poetry is considered as a testament to the power
of words to change lives, (Blue Flower Arts, n.d.). She is a critically acclaimed author of six
poetry volumes and latest work Blood Dazzler which documents the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina

Queen Gertrude in Shakespeare s Hamlet a Victim not Murderer
Gertrude never seems to get in the middle of Hamlet and Claudius disputes, so many tend to
assume that she is involved in King Hamlet s murder. However, there is an abundance of in text
evidence that suggests she is very innocent and oblivious to Claudius plots throughout the play.
Most of this evidence supporting that Gertrude has nothing to do with King Hamlets sudden death.
From the start, Gertrude comes off as a very clueless and almost blind character to the things
happening around her. She mourns for the death of the man she loved, but with her country in mind
does what she thinks is best. Sadly, while doing so, she involves herself in a dispute that turns
deadly. It is very obvious throughout the play that Queen Gertrude and... Show more content on

Instead of asking ridiculous questions and going haywire, like her new husband, Gertrude
simply comments on the acting by saying, ? The lady protests too much, methinks?
(Shakespeare 3.2.168). She even becomes baffled by Claudius? strange behavior when he
screams, ?Give me some light, away!? (Shakespeare 3.2.172). Gertrude clearly did now know
the plot line of the play before having seen it, therefore she could not have been involved in the
making of it earlier in the play. When problems with Ophilia and Hamlet arise, Claudius simply
sees this as another opportunity to quiet Hamlet. He encourages the relationship, hoping if
Hamlet is seeing Polonius? daughter, he wont speak out about his suspicions of Claudius.
Although, when Gertrude gets word of these news, she sees this as a completely different
opportunity. She, unlike her new husband, encourages the relationship in hopes that it will cheer
up her son and he will return to normal. She says to Ophilia, ?And for your part, Ophelia, I do
wish that your good beauties be the happy cause of Hamlet s wildness. So shall I hope your
virtues will bring him to his wonted way again, to both your honors? (Shakespeare 3.1.136).
Gertrude only thinks of her sons well being. In which case, if she had been involved in King
Hamlets murder, she would probably be more worried about not being caught instead of how to
make Hamlet happy again. If Gertrude was Claudius? partner in crime, one would assume that he
would let her in

Goblin Market Is a More Effective Narrative Than The Lady of Shalott Christina Rossetti uses
narrative techniques and perspectives more effectively in her poem, Goblin Market than Alfred,
Lord Tennyson does in his ballad, The Lady of Shalott. A narrative is a text with a plot. Narratives
are important because they convey information and ideas to other individuals through a story.
Important narrativetechniques include language, point of view, narration, speech (length of lines,

Next you re going to want to plug your iron in, that way it is hot enough when you are ready to

Three Types of Friends Essay examples
Through my experiences I have come to realize that there are basically three types of friends a
person can have. There are friends that I call sometimes friends, these people appear to be your
friend but only when you are face to face with them, and when you are not around them they act
more like a foe. They are often referred to as two faced or a back stabber. These types of friends
are not very reliable nor should they be trusted. Another type of friend a person can have, and the
best kind, is a true friend. A true friend is someone you know you can always trust and rely on no
matter what. The last type of friend is the acquaintance . These are the type of friends that you do

These people are not very reliable and should not be trusted with things of a personal matter or
with things of great importance. You should confront this person and let them know how you
are feeling about the way they are treating you. Let them know how things look from your point
of view. If they are a true friend they will try to correct their ways and start acting like a real
friend would act. If they do not change their ways and they continue to take advantage of you, it
would probably be smart of you not to associate with them anymore. An acquaintance friend is
someone who you will usually encounter every so often for business needs or for some other
reason. You most likely are on good terms with these people, but they are not considered close
friends whom you would talk to about personal problems. They could be someone at the grocery
store where you shop at, the place where you work, the barber shop or salon where you get your
hair cut, or maybe the convenience store where you get gas at. They usually seem as if they are
good people and friendly. The acquaintance friend has the potential to become somewhat closer
over time if there are enough meetings between the two of you. Most friends that people say are
good friends were just an acquaintance at some point in time, but became closer as they got to
know each other better. Last,

Economic System
Spain s economy is a well based way to equally spread money to all of the people. Some of Spain s
natural resources include coal, lignite, iron ore, uranium, mercury, pyrites, fluorspar, gypsum, zinc,
lead, tungsten, copper, kaolin; hydroelectric power. Spain s currency is the European Unioneuro.
Spain s imports include machinery and equipment, fuels, chemicals, semi finished goods,
foodstuffs, consumer goods, measuring and medical control instruments. In 2011, the amount of
money that Spain received for imports was $364.9 billion. Some of Spain s exports include
machinery, motor vehicles; foodstuffs, pharmaceuticals, medicines, other consumer goods. In 2011,
the amount of money that Spain received for exports was $309.6 billion.
The gross domestic per capita is thirty three thousand six hundred euros a year. In labor force 2.4
percent goes to agriculture, 24 percent to industry, and 71.1 percent to services. Spain came out in
the number one position because it is a sunny country, because its citizens enjoy shorter working
hours and more days holiday, because energy and lifestyle costs are lower, because the
government invests into education and healthcare, because the average age at which people die is
higher than in most of Europe and because overall, living in Spain ensures you have a better
quality of life.

Surrealism and Femininity
Surrealism and femininity A2098336 Introduction Surrealism is type of cultural movement that
came into being in 1920s and it is renowned for the visual artworks and writings. The main aim of
the emergence of surrealism was to get a solution to what was a previously contradictory condition
between dream and reality. Artists painted illogical, unnerving scenes that had photographic
precession. They also created strange creatures from the objects that existed everyday. They were
also able to develop techniques in painting which allowed what was not conscious to express itself.
The work of surrealists features elements like surprise, juxtapositions that are unexpected and non
sequitur. On the other hand many surrealist artists and writers term their work as being an
expression of philosophical movement in the first place and their work being artifacts. History of
surrealism The work surrel was coined by an art critic and poet Guillaume Apollinaire. Upon his
death another artist Andre Breton published a manifesto of Surrealism in 1924.in this manifesto he
describe surrealism as attempting to transmute the two states that seem contradictory which are
dream and reality into a kind of reality that is absolute which is of surreality. When people think of
Surrealism they think of Salvador Dali and memory persistence.an important think to note is that
since its emergence surrealism as global particularly as early surrealists existence such as Andre
Breton and Marcel Duchamp used

To be fair, lying is part and parcel of public life. Every politician has lied about something because
they are owned by the special interest groups that finance their elections (Schuyler). Many, if not

interest groups, and even nonprofits who use lobbyingtactics, are often viewed as corrupt and

Characteristics Of Shaping The Colonies
Shaping the Colonies
Within a span of 300 years, Europe found itself bombarded by domestic disputes and expansionist
curiosity. From the initial expedition by Christopher Columbus in 1492 having sparked European
interests in the Americas, a beacon of freedom sparked the minds of iconoclasts who sought the
new land during a period of time marked by religious tyranny, ongoing wars, and the greed for
resources. Colonial America from the sixteenth to seventeenth centuries was shaped by the hunger
for freedom from the English monarchy in terms of worship and self government.
In 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue... Indians! Indians! Columbus cried; His heart was filled
with joyful pride. But India the land was not... The primary school song celebrates the Spanish
explorer but detracts from the motive behind the joyful pride. The fifteenth century was the
beginning of the Age of Exploration for the Portuguese, who dominated international trade by the
sixteenth century. The allure of South African gold, slaves, and ivory and the rich spices and gold
of India tempted the Spanish, the English, the French, and the Dutch to compete in the race for
global riches. Christopher Columbus responded to the opportunity after Ferdinand II of Aragon
and Isabella of Castile exiled 200,000 Jews and defeated the last of Muslim forces in Granada to
restore Christianity in Spain during the Spanish Inquisition. With the Spanish monarchy re

hundreds of thousands of people protested against Donald Trump. It surprises me that Trump barely

The Crucible And On The Waterfront
Making amends for past sins is challenging yet ultimately rewarding
Discuss with reference to the Crucible and On the Waterfront.
The two texts, On the Waterfront directed by Elia Kazan, and The Crucible written by Arthur
Miller, both exhibit a protagonist that is plagued by their sins and desperately seeks redemption.
Through Terry Malloy s life on the Hoboken waterfront of 1950 s America, and John Proctors in the
Puritan society of 1962 Salem, it is clear that the act of expiating our wrongs is demanding and
difficult but finally satisfying. Both texts show similarities but also differences in how the
characters have sinned and betrayed their conscience and loved ones. The taxing journey of
redemption is full of obstacles in which each texts protagonist deals with in their own unique but
alike manner. Despite these unavoidable hardships, both Proctor and Malloy ultimately receive
their desired redemption and gratifying outcomes. Thus, both texts show how life s uncertainties,
confusions and wrongdoings should be dealt with humanity and a clear conscience instead of
fulfilling individual needs.
Both texts depict an antihero who committed an irreversible sin, sinking them into despair, and
leaving them craving for salvation. In the opening scenes of On the Waterfront, Kazan s use of a
close up shot of Terry Malloy s face is a manifestation of how Terry is being harried by the guilt of
Joey Doyle s death. He thought the mob was just gonna lean on him a bit , instead,

Binge Drinking On College Campuses
Over the past few years, there has been this big debate about whether the drinking age should be
lowered to 18 or if it should stay at 21. Those in favor of lowering the drinking age to 18 argue
that someone who is old enough to serve their country should be allowed to have a drink. Those
who are in favor of keeping the minimum legal drinking age at 21 because of consequences
regarding psychological development and health problems later in life. However, there is a bigger
problem concerning alcohol. The problem is the excessive amount of drinking or commonly known
as binge drinking, done by primarily college students and by raising taxes on any and all alcoholic
beverages can lead to significant reduction of dangerous binge drinking and simultaneously
reducing the dangerous effects of binge drinking. Drinking has become a tradition amongst college
students, and drinking is portrayed as a vital part of the college experience. Most incoming college
freshman come into college with a preexisting tendency to drink, and the college campus life can be
a significant influence on alcohol consumption and the rate at which alcohol is consumed. Binge
drinking is so common that it is expected of a college student to drink once getting into the
university. The reasons in which students decide to binge drink can vary from students

Turmoil to Hostility in Ireland
1845, was the start of a long period of great trouble for the Irish people. Although through many
struggles, the Irish prospered as a community. Starting in 1845 the Irish lost their main crop due to
an unknown fungus then got uprooted to immigrate or died of disease. The Irish came to America
searching for the American dream but only found hostility and unacceptance. This paper will cover
troubles through the potatofamine, the journey here and even how they were treated when they got

The potato blight, most known as the Irish potato famine, caused death and despair. The famine
was the main reason the Irish left to immigrate to the United States. Death rates began to rise
because of the starvation and diseases such as, cholera, measles and fever, caused by the lack of
Ireland s main food supply and crop. According to Donnelly, Overall excess morality from 1846

those led into dysentery and diarrhoea. Donnelly states, Factors that correlate most strongly with
most death was income per capita and literacy rate (178). Most of Ireland s population was settled
into poverty. However, any of the Irish fell into poverty because of the famine and diseases

wild horses are round up to be sold to slaughterhouses for money, and aren t conducted every year

Burros themselves and the ecosystems as well. If the BLM was not to do anything about the fast

This case highlights the journey of ICICI Bank towards its establishment as a formidable brand in

Adolf Hitler s Rise to Power
April 20 1889, 6:30 pm, in Braunau Austria, Klara Hitler gave birth to her first son Adolf Hitler.
Braunau Austria is a small town located approximately 65 miles east of Munich and nearly 30
miles north of Salzburg. When Hitler was a small child, he was baptized as a Catholic. Hitler didn t
do well in school; he wanted to be an artist. His father Alois Hitler, didn t approve of his life plans,
he wanted his son to be an officer and fight for Germany. Hitler had a hatred for his father. He was
deeply and emotionally attached to his hard working mother. On Saturday, January 3, 1903,
Alois Hitler collapsed and died from lung hemorrhage. Hitler was only 13 years old, when his
father passed away. After Hitler s father passed away, Hitler continued to do poorly in school.
Hitler decided to pursue his dreams of becoming an artist. He applied to art schools, but every
time he was denied entrance. His mother began experiencing chest pains. She went to Edward
Bloch, a family doctor. On January 14, 1907, he diagnosed Klara Hitler with advanced breast
cancer. She became gravely ill and needed immediate surgery. Adolf Hitler
sobbed for his mother,
hoping she would be okay. December 21, 1907, Klara Hitler was pronounced dead due to her
illness. This devastated Hitler. He decided to give up on his dreams of being an artist after she
passed. Hitler joined the German army and fought in World War I
. After World War 1, he rose to
power in Germany during the 1920 s and early

Race Analysis In Swimming
When looking at my race analyses, I see I m certainly biased towards the 50 m freestyle. The
extra attention comes down to one main reason: the 50 m is the easiest to analyze. For one, it is
the shortest, but also, the cameramen typically give you another view of the race, helping myself
obtain data. Anyway, for past race analyses, be sure to checkout our race analysis page. In the 50
m freestyle final, Florent Manaudou of France won easily with a time of 21.19 seconds. Second
place with to Nathan Adrian of the United States with a 21.52, which was 0.15 seconds slower than
his semi final time of 21.37 seconds. Now, understanding the differences in race strategy provides
insight into where the race was won. Start Florent Manaudou had... Show more content on

Manaudou s stroke rate increased by 10 strokes per minute, while Adrian s only increased by 6
strokes. Nonetheless, they had identical times over this distance by at 7.0 seconds.
AnalysisFlorent lifts head Overall, Manaudou won the race on the start and 25 35 m mark. On
the start, Adrian should delay the initiation of his kick by ~0.25 seconds. This delay will allow
him to maintain his starting velocity longer, as well as reduce his overall strokes required in the
race. Manaudou should try to maintain his stroke rate into the wall and finish without looking
forward. This forward look creates massive frontal drag and these bad habits may cost him a close
race giving him not reason to lane line lounge.

Lengerli Topcu Sexual Misconduct Sexual misconduct, as a sub type of sexual violence, refers to
the wide range of sexual act. As a general definition, according to World Health Organization

This is the basis of the title of chapter, Tales from the Trenches that provide a practical implementation of performance analysis through biographical sketches. The firsts story by Charlotte Donaldson describes the effect of performance analysis in the banking sector. In this story, Donaldson describes how she utilized early forms of data collecting computes to evaluate the training process for workers in the bank. The use of computers in the classroom has been a major component in the development training for students to get ready for a more technologically advanced workplace. Sheldon defines the problem of untrained administrators, teachers, and other public school officials that did not know how to use the computers provided for educating the students. IN one example at the Rancho Bizarro school, Sheldon defines the inability of educators to be trained in computer technology: Teachers endured countless mind numbing sermons on the power of technology, but failed to develop the necessary computer skills (Rossett 210). In this manner, the problem of performance analysis for public school officials was a major barrier to properly educating the students. Turtle Middle School is another example of a computer technology expert, Tiffany Banana, that was brought in to order computers, and other technologies to educate the students. However, Miss Banana brought new better faster software, but it was soon found that teachers did not seem to be using their computers (Rossett 211). We are taught the rules of conduct of society and we learn to follow them in order to be socially normal. The second we are born or even before we are born we are determined a gender. The rest of our life and the way we are expected to act revolves around that gender. Our gender shapes who we are expected to be and shapes an image in our parents head of who they want us to be. Gender plays a key role throughout our life, it is defined as the psychological, social and cultural aspects of masculinity and femininity(butler sweet,c,2017). Masculinity and femininity have been standardized into their own stereotypes. For example, masculine is known as aggression, competitive, brave, etc. While feminine is known as sensitive, weak, nurturing, etc. Because of these traits and these stereotypes masculinity holds a higher power over femininity. Therefore, when the parents have the child and they find out what gender they are they automatically uphold them and raise them according to these standards. This begins to refer to gender socialization which is the process by which we learn the rules and conduct the behavior of masculinity and femininity (butler sweet,c,2017). Meaning, that from a young age, we learn the correct way to act within society, including the correct way to act according to our biological gender. • 8. Critically Examine Sociological Views of Sects in Society... A sect is a subgroup of a religious, political or philosophical belief system, usually an offshoot of a larger religious group. Although in past it was mostly used to refer to religious groups, it has since expanded and in modern culture can refer to any organization that breaks away from a larger one to follow a different set of rules and principles. Sects are smaller, less highly organised grouping of committed believers who usually set themselves up in protest at what a church has become. Stark and Bainbridge (1985) are critical of typologies, arguing that there are always overlaps between categories. Instead, they ran organisations on their tension contributed into society, as they don t see all organised groups to be a threat. They say that Sects are small religious groups, which are an offshoot of an existing religion and are in a high degree of tension with the outside world. However, a problem with Stark and Bainbridge s definitions is that they argue that typologies do not adequately categorise religions because the boundaries are not clear cut, but then produce their own typology, which could be criticised for the same thing. For example, it is unclear how much involvement members have to have for an organisation to be regarded as a sect. Weber (1922), like Troeltsch, argues that sects tended to be amongst marginal groups in society, that is, people outside the mainstream of social life who felt they weren t gaining economic rewards from society they deserved. These sects developed a theodicy of disprivilege, which is a religious explanation and justification for their disadvantages, which often promised them salvation in the afterlife. Wilson (1970) also agrees with this explanation as he says that those in situations like defeat in war, natural disasters and economic collapses would lead to these people becoming marginalised and turning to new religions. • 9. The Phychosocial Theory Of Erikson s Psychosocial Development Self Analysis Every person is a unique individual. Each of us possesses characteristics and traits that may be influenced either by genetic, environmental factors or both. These two factors are constantly argued in the field of psychology. In my opinion as counselor, both perspectives have its respective strengths and weaknesses. It is important to a counselor like me, to have deeper knowledge about the different personality theories because it allows me to know myself more and understand the people around me especially the counselees who trust my ability. The Psychosocial Development Theory of Erik Erikson identifies eight stages that individual has to pass through from infancy to late adulthood stages. I remember when my sister asked me to look after my nephew who was at 5 months old. I was afraid to carry him the moment he cried because he looked so fragile. However, I remember what Erikson said about this stage that it is important to establish trust to the caregiver and provide the basic needs of the infant otherwise, the mistrust will be developed. The moment I carried my nephew and hand him a toy, he stopped crying and started to suck the toy. From the perspective of Jean Piaget, infants have neonatal schemas or innate ability even before they have more experience about the world. From there I understand clearly that babies have incredible reflexes which are untold to them and that make them wonderful. As I continually observe my nephew who appears to ... The road was surrounded on either side by a thick forest of trees that blocked out most of the noise from the airport and busy road outside, making me feel like I could be a thousand miles from civilization. But regardless of the pains cause and site of origin, for most people pain is simply as stated before an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience (Mc Lellan, 2006). An experience that medical professionals like to define in much broader terms, one that states that Pain is whatever the patient says it is, existing wherever the experiencing person says it is (Farrell, 2005). This definition very much emphasises how subjective in nature the whole pain experience tends to be, because it relies not only totally on the patient s ability to self report on their level of pain being experienced, but also on how effective their pain management interventions have been (Farrell, 2005). This important tool known as a pain assessment not only aids in making a diagnosis of a patient s medical condition, it also gives medical staff a reliable indicator of the patient s location of pain, its quality and intensity, onset and duration, and any measures that help to relief it (Crisp Taylor, 2009). A failure to carry out such an assessment could result in not only in the patient suffering with unnecessary pain, but can also result in the patient experiencing symptoms such as stress, fatigue, insomnia, an inability to eat or mobilize, social isolation or depression (Crisp Taylor, 2009). Comparison of the Works of Smith and Morales A literary comparison of What It s Like to Be a Black Girl by Patricia Smith and Child of the Americas by Aurora Levins Morales The beauty of any work of Art is the hidden meaning in it, or to be more accurate the concept or the thought which is the driving force, the main inspiration for the artist. It is this thought that becomes the back bone of the work of Art, let it be anything from a Painting, Sculpture, Music, Food and Literature. And since Literature provides us in some manner the concept or the details of the main subject within its text form, therefore the interpretation and the recognition of the main theme becomes fairly obvious. For this paper, we would be considering two works of Literature, one is What it s like to be a Black Girl by Patricia Smith and the second one being the Child of the Americas by Aurora Levins Morales. Both of these poems take up the topic of racism and how it is to belong to an American society labeled as one race or the other. The paper would also see if and how the same subject of racism has been approached by the two poets in different manner and what their personal feelings are of the concerned subject. Born in 1955, Patricia Smith poetry is considered as a testament to the power of words to change lives, (Blue Flower Arts, n.d.). Gertrude clearly did now know the plot line of the play before having seen it, therefore she could not have been involved in the making of it earlier in the play. When problems with Ophilia and Hamlet arise, Claudius simply sees this as another opportunity to quiet Hamlet. He encourages the relationship, hoping if Hamlet is seeing Polonius? daughter, he wont speak out about his suspicions of Claudius. Although, when Gertrude gets word of these news, she sees this as a completely different opportunity. So shall I hope your virtues will bring him to his wonted way again, to both your honors? (Shakespeare 3.1.136). Gertrude only thinks of her sons well being. The main aim of the emergence of surrealism was to get a solution to what was a previously contradictory condition between dream and reality. Artists painted illogical, unnerving scenes that had photographic precession. They also created strange creatures from the objects that existed everyday. They were also able to develop techniques in painting which allowed what was not conscious to express itself. The work of surrealists features elements like surprise, juxtapositions that are unexpected and non sequitur. On the other hand many surrealist artists and writers term their work as being an expression of philosophical movement in the first place and their work being artifacts. History of surrealism The work surrel was coined by an art critic and poet Guillaume Apollinaire. Upon his death another artist Andre Breton published a manifesto of Surrealism in 1924.in this manifesto he describe surrealism as attempting to transmute the two states that seem contradictory which are dream and reality into a kind of reality that is absolute which is of surreality. The two texts, On the Waterfront directed by Elia Kazan, and The Crucible written by Arthur Miller, both exhibit a protagonist that is plagued by their sins and desperately seeks redemption. Through Terry Malloy s life on the Hoboken waterfront of 1950 s America, and John Proctors in the Puritan society of 1962 Salem, it is clear that the act of expiating our wrongs is demanding and difficult but finally satisfying. Both texts show similarities but also differences in how the characters have sinned and betrayed their conscience and loved ones. The taxing journey of redemption is full of obstacles in which each texts protagonist deals with in their own unique but alike manner. Despite these unavoidable hardships, both Proctor and Malloy ultimately receive their desired redemption and gratifying outcomes. Thus, both texts show how life s uncertainties, confusions and wrongdoings should be dealt with humanity and a clear conscience instead of fulfilling individual needs. Both texts depict an antihero who committed an irreversible sin, sinking them into despair, and leaving them craving for salvation.
