Comparing Kate Chopin s The Storm and T. Coraghessan Boyle s Greasy Lake
Kate Chopin and T. Coraghessan Boyle made excellent use of the elements point of
view, character, and setting in their short stories The Storm and Greasy Lake . Kate
Chopin s characters and events follow the setting the storm. This greatly enhances her
work. Boyle s characters mirror his setting as well a greasy lake. It is amazing how
much greater depth and deeper the insight is for a story when the potentials of
elements of writing are fulfilled and utilized.
Chopin s The Storm is written in third person objective point of view. The narrator is
not involved with the characters in any way, just telling the story as it ... Show more

The main character of Boyle s story is the nameless narrator. He is more round than
flat, mainly because of the point of view of first person. The reader must of course
get closer to the main character because they become them when they read the story.
The reader sees inside the narrator and through his eyes out at the world around him
because of his thoughts and actions. Boyle develops his main character through the
point of view taken they cannot be separated.
We wore torn up leather jackets, slouched around with toothpicks in our mouths,
sniffed glue and ether and what somebody claimed was cocaine. When we wheeled
our parents whining station wagons out onto the street we left a patch of rubber
half a block long. We drank gin and grape juice, Tango, Thunderbird, and Bali Hai.
We were nineteen. We were bad. We read Andre Gide and struck elaborate poses to
show that we didn t give a shit about anything. (Boyle 129)
This self description of the narrator says it all. He gives a brutal, yet inflated
description of himself and his friends that gives the reader a very round main
character.
The setting in both of these short stories is the essence of their themes. The authors
have drawn characters that parallel their settings. From this, the reader can draw
many conclusions and insights about the themes of the stories. The Storm occurs in

Zolpidem Research Paper
Zolpidem is a short term medicinal treatment for insomnia that can be prescribed
and is effective in initiating sleep in the consumer (Verster et al., 2002). It also
appears to offer a temporary but effective relief of symptoms of aphasia, a
collective term for a range of language disorders present in some survivors of
strokes, and current research is implying that its presence in the body may bring
consciousness to people in vegetative states (Interlandi, 2011). However, there are
several negative effects such as uncomfortable side effects, withdrawal symptoms if
dependency on the drug occurs, dangerously impaired driving ability the day after
dosage and it is an effective, legal and easily obtainable date rape drug (Monti et al.,

The confusion stems from its paradoxical effect of being a hypnotic sedative in
people with normal brain functions yet can increase speech ability in patients
recovering from severe brain trauma, which seems contrary (Clauss and Nel, 2006).
In a specific test patient, Hall et al. (2009) reported that the technology used to
measure effectiveness of treatment with zolpidem demonstrated high amplitude theta
and beta oscillations thin the peri infarct region reducing in activity, improving
cognitive and motor function. In another patient who suffered a stroke three years
prior, the first prescribed dosage of 10mg of zolpidem caused a dramatic
improvement in her speech, an improvement which relapsed the following morning
until the next dosage of zolpidem was taken (Engl and Med, 2004). Whyte and Myers
(2009) describe that zolpidem is also being studied to determine whether it has the
ability to improve responsiveness or regional cerebral perfusion in patients in
vegetative states. It has been reported to restore, albeit temporarily, consciousness to
such patients and repeated dosage maintains consciousness (Interlandi,
Canonical Smad Pathway Analysis
The canonical Smad pathway involves the Smad proteins of which there are three
classes: the R Smads which are mediated by specific receptors, the common
mediator Smads (Co Smad) and the inhibitory Smads11,15. The Smad2 and 3
proteins are specific to the TGF ОІ signalling pathway whereas Smad1, 5 and 8 are
specific to the BMP 2 signalling pathway15. Within the TGF ОІ pathway, receptor
regulated Smad2 and Smad3 proteins are phosphorylated by the TGFОІRII with both
Smads forming complexes with Smad4, a common Smad19. The resulting complex
migrates into the nucleus acting as transcription factors for downstream activation of
the runt related transcription factor 2 (Runx2)19. Smad6 and Smad7 are the
inhibitory Smads: Smad7 in particular regulates the function of R Smads by targeting
the TGFОІRII for degradation and also by binding competitively to Smad4,
disrupting Smad2 and 3 binding20.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The MAPK signalling pathway also undergoes an additional step of JunB synthesis
that ultimately leads to Runx2 phosphorylation and formation of the Smad Runx2
complex, a critical step where any disruption would mean a loss of Runx2
transcriptional activation23,24. Hereafter, both the canonical and non canonical
Smad pathways converge to regulate Runx2 gene transcription, and thereby regulate

The Conflicct between North Korea and South Korea
On 25 June 1950, North Korea invaded South Korea with the intention of dominating
South Korea and forcing its government and policies upon them. These circumstances
imply that not only did South Korea had the grounds to defend itself, but other
nations had the right assist them in the time of need. On June 25, 1950, North
Korean forces assaulted the South Korean army, and quickly advanced towards the
capital city of Seoul. The United States, stationed there in correspondence with the
United Nations, quickly rushed to defend South Korea.
The U.S.A. did not only have the sole intention of defending South Korea, but also
intended to combat communism globally. The U.S.A. feared that major powers such
as Russia were influencing nations such as North Korea to convert to communism.
The United States reaction to the attack on South Korea was just. South Korea was
a defenseless country that was even occupied by American soldiers in order to
prevent attack from foreign nations; however, the US had enigmatic motives for
defending South Korea. They wanted to eliminate the spread of communism. This
was not just because the US was fundamentally instilling and pushing their values
onto South Korean. The US did not enter the war for a just cause. Although North
Korea attacked first, no official record of a war was declared. President Truman did
take action on June 26, 1950 by immediately sending military forces to South Korea.

Joran Van Der Sloot Case Study
On Monday, July 4, Deepak and Satish Kalpoe were released, but Joran van der
Sloot was detained for an additional sixty days. In order to aid in the search, the
Royal Netherlands Air Force deployed three F 16 aircraft equipped with infrared
sensors, without result. Satellite photos were also compared with photographs taken
more recently in an attempt to find unexpected shifts of ground that might be
Holloway s grave(Disappearance of Natalee Holloway, 2015). A small pond near the
Aruba Racquet Club close to the Marriott Hotel beach was partly drained between
July 27 and 30 after an individual came forward. The gardener claimed to have seen

The two brothers were released on the following day. The prosecution appealed the
Kalpoes release. That appeal was denied on December 5 with the court stating that
the file against the suspect did not contain direct indications that Natalee passed
away due to a violent crime. Van der Sloot was released without charge on
December 7, due to lack of evidence implicating him. No further appeals were
sought out (Disappearance of Natalee Holloway, 2015). Prosecutor Hans Mos
declared the case closed and no charges would be filed due to lack of evidence.
Even though the case was closed the prosecution continued an interest in the
Kalpoe s and Joran van der Sloot. The interest remained due to an alleged chat
room message, where one of the three had stated that Holloway was dead. This was
contested by Deepak Kalpoe s attorney, who stated that the prosecution, had
misconstrued a reference to a teacher who had drowned as one to Holloway.
Attorney Ronald Wix also stated, Unless (Mos) finds a body in the bathroom of one
of these kids, there s no way in hell they can arrest them anymore (Disappearance of

Essay On LDL
2.METHODOLOGY
The current examination was to discover the impact of yogic practices and aerobic
training on low density lipoprotein (LDL) among middle aged women. To get the
reason for this research, 45 middle aged women were randomly chosen as subjects.
Their age was 35 and 45 years. Subjects were teachers of various schools in
Ananthapuramu, Andhra Pradesh, India and, consequently, there was no
distinction in the patterns of daily life, and was later well thought out as a
standardized group. They chose isolated subjects in 2 experimental groups and one
control group with 15 subjects in each (n = 15). Experimental Group I (YPG)
undergoes yoga practices, Group II (ATG) is subjected to an aerobic group and
Group III serves as a control ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Santa Fe Trail
This trail started in 1821. The Santa Fe Trail starts off from Independence and ends
at Santa Fe. Because it was about 800 miles long, the journey took about 8 weeks.
More than 2000 wagons were leaving for Santa Fe by the 1830s each spring,
proved by A journey in time . If you left from Fort Leavenworth to Santa Fe by
wagon train, the fare cost was $250 for adults, and $125 for children. The rate for
freight was $10 for 100 pounds. A lot of trading was done on this trail. As A journey
in time said, trade on the Santa Fe trail amounted to 3.5 million dollars( more than 53
million in current dollars).

The Trail of Tears was the journey of the Indians when they left their homelands and
walked to the Indian Territory. This trail was about 1000 miles. The 5 Civilised

the events that led up to this journey. His policies included the cleansing of many
Insian tribes, as www.warpaths2peacepipes.com/ history of native americans/trail of

Scientific Mythology Book Report
Science tries to disprove myths while creating religious myths
Famous cosmologist Carl Sagan once said, Science is a way of thinking much
more than it is a body of knowledge. In modern culture, science has been turned into
a religious rulebook that helps guide people to a perfect world, free from pain and
suffering. This is, however, not true, as the Bible is the only rulebook and guide that
can help guide a person to righteousness and to true perfection. In the book, Scientific
Mythologies: How Science and Science Fiction Forge New Religious Beliefs, the
author James A. Herrick looks to dispel several common myths related to science and
how it conflicts and complements Christianity.
First, James goes after the myth of an extraterrestrial ... Show more content on

Science fiction has continually perpetuated a believe in prosperity and a better life in
the future. In The New Atlantis, the author Francis Bacon envisions a world where
science and research is not restrained by religion, and all illness if cured. This belief
further manifested itself into the belief that science will soon be able to fix all of
our problems, and would do so without God. Scientist J. B. S. Haldane would later
take this belief and Thomas Huxley s view on eugenics to proclaim that science
would create a new age of peace, human equality, prosperity, and justice. He would
help perpetuate the idea that humans are destined to become gods due to the
power of the cosmos. Later, physicist Freeman Dyson used this belief to conclude
that a golden age of science would soon come and would be started by mental
exploration. He then believed that an all powerful civilization would have to
create a sphere around its host star to fuel its need for energy. Ecclesiastes 8:7 says,
Since no one knows the future, who can tell someone else what is to come? Only
God knows what the future holds. God has a plan for every person on earth, and
when his plan has been finished, humans will finally be reunited with him.
Because of sin, creation will never be able to return to a perfect form, but because
of God s divine providence he allows us to alleviate the pains of sin with science.
Scientist should use science as a tool to help those in need, not as a tool to play
God. All in all, scientist believe that science in the future will be able to cure all of
our pain. Because of sin, this will never happen, but humans can use science to help
alleviate the pain until God comes to wipe sin
Justification Of Disaster Response Protocols
Justification of Disaster Response protocols: All the data of the BOLD pharma
organization will be stored on the magnetic tapes. To avoid the risks due to any
disaster, it should be kept in the QA department. The other method for securing the
data even more further is maintaining the replica of the servers in different
locations. The first step which should take if any incident happened as I
mentioned like due to the server crash, it should be immediately reported to the
higher officials and a ticket should be raised internally and externally to the vendor
too. It is not suggestible to touch the production server if it has a warranty. If that is
not the case, then try to recover the server from the point of time and put it back on
the cluster. Make sure that the other server is up and running fine to avoid the
manufacturing loss. So, by recovering the damaged server soon can avoid the
disaster. Natural disasters can be avoided by constructing the data center in the safest
environment, even a natural storm should not affect the data center in any aspect.
Access Control Protocols: The BOLD pharma organization is using a software
called PAS|X on the shop. PAS|X is the software which is used to access and process
everything within the organization. Apart from the production department all the
other departments will also use this software to perform their tasks. For example, if
some person wants to do a particular task, he should have required privileges to
perform that task.
Meursault Reflection
Meursault experiences the world as it happens around him, he cares not to look
towards the future nor does he lament the past. Meursault lives in the present,
however, he does not see the present as most do. Instead of having strong emotions
and feelings Meursault looks at the present through cold logic and does not attach
feelings to anything or anyone. Meursault even goes as far as killing someone yet
feeling no remorse for doing so, he views his own arrest and trial as more of an
inconvenience than anything. In the quite loneliness of his cell, Meursault
changed. Instead of not caring about his past or future, instead of not attaching
feelings towards his experiences, Meursault starts to care. In part 1 of the novel
Meursault does not care about look towards the future while also not looking back
at the past. Instead Meursault focuses on the present yet even then he does not
attach emotions to what happens to him in the present. At the funeral after his
mom dies Meursault does not cry, he does not want to see her in the casket, he
really doesn t seem to care that his mother is dead. These lack of feelings describe
Meursault s mentality throughout most of the first part of this book. Despite the
fact that Meursault is presented as absurd he seems to find some meaning or feeling
when he is with Marie. ...[Marie] asked me if I loved her. I told her it didn t mean
anything but that I didn t think so. She looked sad. (Meursault,35) Although
Meursault says he does not love

1997). Ultimately, the yeast which are facultative fungal organisms provide enzymes
that break down sugar molecules while releasing Ethanol and Carbon Dioxide as by
products through the exothermic reaction: C6H1206 gt;2CH3CH2OH + 2CO2 +
115kj/mol. Winemakers will usually stop the fermentation process once a desired
alcohol level is achieved however the fermentation can naturally stop after reaching a
certain level of alcohol that subsequently becomes toxic to the yeast thus killing them
(Smith, D. 2009). Once fermentation is over, many wines may display signs of
turbidity or cloudiness. This is due to suspended particulates such as proteins, tannins,
phenols or dead yeast cells that cause haziness in wine when not removed. These
particles can precipitate out of the wine naturally under the influence of gravity
however this is a lengthy process and those that want fast results rely on chemical
clarification.
Chemicals for the purpose of wine clarification are known as fining or flocculation
agents and are widely used in the wine industry. These agents are commonly derived
from Earths, Proteins, Carbons, Synthetic polymers, Polysaccharides and other
substances (Zoecklein, B. 1988). It is extremely important that a commercial wine be
cleared of any suspended impurities so that it appeals to the consumer. Fining agents
generally clarify the wine in three different
Nineteen Fifties Research Paper
Life in the Nineteen Fifties Throughout a period of time things begin to change,
rather it is for the better or for the worse. Our country has definitely changed for the
better. As time passes things like the way we dress, the features on a car, or even
things like the price of a carton of milk change. America has changed in many
forms throughout the years, rather it be our advancements in technology, our rules,
or the way we act as people. We as Americans tend to always take what we already
had and grow off of it, we are always advancing what we have. A time period of
major changes occurred in the nineteen fifties, where things began to change for the

In the movie, the majority of the characters are teenagers in high school; teenagers
were the driving force behind fashion during the nineteen fifties. As well as, the
way teenagers and young women dressed was influenced by the rock n roll craze.
Today, our fashion sense is way different than it was during that time period;
however, our fashion would not be the way it is today if it was not for the trends
that were popular throughout the fifties. In several ways, the nineteen fifties took a
turn in the fashion industry, especially for the woman. Before, while the men were
away fighting in World War II, women were sent to fill their spots in the factories.
At this point in time the way women dressed was heavily restricted to where they
must wear certain things, rather it be the length of their skirts to the size of their
collars; however, as women continued to work throughout the nineteen fifties, they
began to dress how they felt and dress more comfortable. Some popular fashion
trends during the nineteen fifties were poodle skirts for teenagers, slim pencil line
skirts for women, and saddle shoes. Stiletto heeled shoes also emerged in the early
nineteen fifties and there were a variety of different colors so you could get the pair
that match your shoes to your outfit. Women such as Audrey Hepburn helped inspire
the casual look, and Marilyn Monroe inspired tiny waistlines, full skirts, and busts.
On a different note, fashion for men during the nineteen fifties was very quiet and
conservative. Men mostly wore plain fabrics in dark, like blue, brown, and grey.
People were beginning to feel more freedom in the way that they dressed, their
rules were no longer as strict as they had been in the past and they could do what
they want; if they wanted to wear a dress that day they could, as well as they could
wear a skirt, or even pants. People no
The Aspects Of Contact Sports In Soccer
Contact sports are sports that you make contact with the ball or the player. In this
report, it classifies what are contact sports and what the rules equipment and players
are.
Soccer is a game where two teams of 11 play against each other to score and win
the game. The aim of the game is to get the ball into the soccer goals and at the end
of the game the team with the most goals wins.
In soccer there are 45 minutes in each half and there are two halfs. In soccer a
player cannot touch the ball with their hands or else their opposition is awarded a
foul. Red cards are worse than yellow cards. When someone gets a red card they
are sent off for them game and the next one. This also happens when you get two
yellow cards in the same game. Offside is one of the hardest rules to explain out of
them all. An offside is when you pass the ball to a teammate while they are offside.
One of the most famous players in soccer history was Edson Arantes do Nascimento,
also known as Pele. Pele scored 1281 goals out of 1363 games. Pele was known as
the most successful player in the world to score this much goals in soccer. Neymar

Preface In our data analysis we do some univariate analysis before proceeding to

the survival function for each group and give an idea of whether or not the groups
are proportional. We also consider the tests of equality across strata to explore
whether or not to include the predictor in the final model. For the categorical

Archetypes In Edgar Allan Poe s Annabel Lee
Annabel Lee, is a poem composed by Edgar Allan Poe. Poe s tragic love story
begins in a kingdom by the sea. It describes a powerful love that was stopped too
soon. The death of a beautiful woman, Annabel Lee, has left her lover mourning her
death. Edgar Allan Poe uses archetypes to create a tone of anguish. In Annabel Lee,
archetypes are used to emphasize the theme of loveand death. She was loved so

Their love was so strong. The attraction made the narrator insane from the loss of

Running title: Effects of SV40 T antigen on two multiple fission microalgae
ABSTRACT
Combination of Simian Virus40 (SV40) large T antigen and its replication origin is
commonly used to enhance the expression efficiency of heterogeneous genes in the
host cell by increasing the copy number. Most studies on SV40 large T antigen are
focused on binary fissional yeast and animal cells. Recently, it has been reported that
the SV40 large T antigen interacts with specific cellular proteins that cause slowing
and even blocking of mitotic progression. There is no report related to the impact of
the SV40 Tantigen on plant multiple fissional cell type. Thus, we were targeting the
possibility of using the SV40 combination in further studies to enhance the expression
efficiency of foreign genes in microalgal cells without using selective pressure.
During the initial trails to apply that strategy, we have noticed differences between the
two microalgae species Chlorella Sp. and Scenedesmus Sp. Three different

in the book relate to events that are happening currently. Recently there was an event
where a gathering of white nationalists had a protest in Charlottesville over

James Taylor s song Machine Gun Kelly is about the gangster, I ll tell you about
Machine Gun Kelly, He rode along the outlaw trail (Taylor). The key phrase he
road along the outlaw trail shows how Kelly as a criminal influenced Taylor to write
about him. Late in the song it explains that his woman is the reason he is going
down the path that is is. It says don t let her pull you down the path she is taking you.
The fact that he was so notable that there was a song written about him seventeen
years after his death shows how he impacted the world. In addition to this song there
is another song that mentions Kelly.
Chaplin s song presents how Kelly impacted culture.Harry Chapin s song Bluesman

key phrase Machine Gun Kelly shows that Kelly has impacted popular culture. He is
not mentioned much but in one verse it says that only a fool plays like Kelly and
that if they go with the other guy they will learn how to play the blues the right way.
Although this song only mentions him slightly he was still known enough to be

Remedy Of Shallow Soul Research Paper
The Remedy for a Shallow Soul To cure a sickness, it is essential to carefully and
accurately diagnose the problem in order to receive the correct treatment. This is
true for all diseases, whether it be cancer, a simple cold, or even spiritual evils.
Now that you are aware that it is the cancer of shallowness that is attacking your
soul, we can begin to remedy you. Being shallow communicates that you have not
advanced to the appropriate mindset necessary for your current stage of life. You
still cannot take any task or situation seriously and, in order to do so, it is
mandatory to understand why giving everything genuine thought is superior to an
apathetic approach. The cure for this disease is received in small servings and by
means of self discipline, meaning it will only succeed if you have the willpower to
endure it. Wanting to become less shallow is the first and most mysterious portion of
the cure. It cannot be taught, and few know the true appeal of becoming different,
deeper people. This occurred to me in the recent past and... Show more content on

This perception occurs when one has already faced a problem by his own
discipline and persevered to the end; you cannot waver under pressure and retreat
to your comfort zone. If faced with a heavy literature paper, you cannot simply

and consult reliable sources which give you ideas to compile into this paper. This
is an example of a serious issue, but there are some things in life which do not
require as much attention simply because they do not add as much to your soul.

Multicultural Children
When we think about sexuallity kids usually do not come to mind. By preschool,
most kids have developed a strong sense of being a boy or girl, and continue to

The House On Mango Street Essay On Poverty
Most children have an idea of a potential career path by the time they are very
young. Often times their career goals are influenced by the adults they see on a
regular basis, which is why a plethora of small children want to be school teachers
or doctors. But what about children who do not have the privilege of being around
academically successful or even employed adults? From where do they receive
academic reinforcement? This poses the question; how does growing up in extreme
poverty shape the morals and goals of a person? In the novel The House on Mango
Street by Sandra Cisneros, the main character Esperanza is raised in a poverty
stricken neighborhood with few positive role models in her life. In the few scenes

This makes Esperanza cry in regards to her embarrassment about her living situation.
To conclude, the shame Esperanza feels about her disheveled home and her long for
an escape are preoccupying thoughts causing her to think little about her education.
Another social conflict hindering Esperanza s academic success is her wish for a
best friend. She has difficulty fostering friendships because most of the children in
her neighborhood are not positive influences on her. This is proven when
Esperanza says she cannot play with a specific troubled family, the Vargases, or
else she will ...turn out just like them (8). Esperanza also says she cannot be
friends with her sister Nenny, as she ...is too young to be my friend. She s just my
sister which is not my fault (8). Esperanza makes her wish for a friend even more
manifested by directly stating Someday I hope will have a best friend all my own.
One I can tell my secrets to. One who will understand all of my jokes without me
having to explain them (9). Aa brief point in the story, Esperanza does in fact gain
an older friend named Sally. Unfortunately, Sally betrays Esperanza by abandoning
her at a city carnival. As a result of being alone and vulnerable, Esperanza is
sexually assaulted by an older man. Esperanza later ponders nerve wracking
questions such as why Sally left her, why she lied to her, and why she let her be
assaulted if they were truly friends (101). The
Gun Control And The Federal Government
For years gun control advocates pushed for a law passed by the federal
government. For years this has not worked as the government has not wanted to
touch the matter and have potential backlash. Although the federal government has
not done much and does not seem to be doing anything any time soon, the states
have huge potential to start the change. State governments can decide what laws
can be passed and how serious their guns laws will and should be. Since the rise of
mass shootings in schools and campus, states have been cracking down on guns and
making stricter gun laws. After the Sandy Hook mass shooting in Connecticut,
which left 20 children dead, the federal government failed to pass gun laws while
states took their own actions and pass various laws. States like New York and
Connecticut have been some of these states. There are already states that have passed
that background checks are mandatory on all guns or handguns, and some of these
states have made it mandatory for even unlicensed vendors and gun shows. This is a
huge step for America as more states band together to impose stricter laws on
firearms. In the past, states banding together to ban or legalize something has shown
to influence the federal government or other states that have yet to follow. This has
been proven with abortions and homosexual marriage and is now taking place with
gun control. Gun control supporters have realized this and have started targeting their
local governments to implement change

Giovanni Battista Venturi Impact On Science
Science is very important to our life. It helped us to understand many things in our
world. Many of the famous scientists were Italian, Giovanni Battista Venturi is one of
the italian scientists that influence us to understand how our world work. He had
proven to us that his theory is true and reliable. Venturi also proved to us that he can

surprise that he could achieved this kind of thing. He was a genius since a kid. He

Reason behind that was because he liked those kind of subject. Venturi always

Selfishness and Poverty, A Life Full of Fulfillment
In the Book Maggie: A Girl of The Streets , ( the tale of a pretty young slum girl
driven to brutal excesses by poverty and loneliness, (Lo)) Stephen Crane depicts
selfishness in humanity by showing how living in a poor, poverty stricken, urban
area can reduce people to their basic natural instincts by showing how they destroy
their chances of progressing foreword, and using brutal tactics, such as selfishness
and aggression to survive. He also uses Imagery to show how the filth of the streets
that occupies Rum Alley ( An aptly named area where life is centered on working,
drinking, and fighting (dlschirf).) is like an echo of the boweryin which there house is
also mentioned to reflect.
In the book, Maggie, Stephan Crane shows the inability for humanity to move
forward when stuck in the bowery s of the poor by showing how when the main
character of Crane s book, Maggie, cleans up the home s floor and walls, her
family ultimately destroys it and when she puts the furniture together again she
comes back to find it all broken. So she tries to go out and create a life for herself
by working in a cuff factory, she got a position where they made collars and cuffs

1980s Technology Research Paper
In this ESSAY I will be discussing all of the type s technology that was popular in
certain eras, and what influenced in its popularity. Technology is the application of
scientific knowledge for practical purposes, especially in industry, machinery and
devices developed from scientific knowledge. The eras that I will cover are the
1980s, the 1990s and the 2000s. I have chosen these eras because I would like to
learn about some of the technologies while I m researching for technologyin these
eras, and to get a better understanding of how some of them influenced in the grate
technologies we have today.

Abortion Saves Women From Teen Pregnancy
Abortion saves women from teen pregnancy, single mothers who cannot afford a
child and people who are unfit or unable to support a child. The topic of abortion
divides this country in two everywhere you go. Many see it as immoral, while
others oppose the issue based upon their religion. Supporters of pro life more times
than not have very strong religious views on the issue; as a result, those who
oppose it, often try to force and push their beliefs onto others to make it to their
liking. Pro life doesn t let women have control of their bodies and their reproductive
rights. A woman should have the choice of what she does and what is best for her,
outsiders should not have a say in other people s choices.
Pro choice allows a woman the option to not bring a baby into this world that has
profound abnormalities. In some cases women s fetuses develop a disease where
death is certain upon birth or shortly after. A disease the fetus could develop is
anencephaly. Anencephaly is the disease where the brain is missing and death is
almost certain soon after death. Down Syndrome is a nonfatal disease the fetus
could develop. This nonfatal disease causes many health risks if the child is born;
furthermore a child born with this defect has a 50% chance of having a congenital
heart defect, the life expectancy is shortened and in some cases 17% of these babies
didn t make it to age twenty. Women shouldn t have to continue a pregnancyif she is
not fit to care for it or if it will not

Hey guys, hope you re all enjoying your placements. They sound great! I
mentioned last week that the Network sent out a newsletter for artists to submit
their artwork for three desired, upcoming events: Bridgepoint, Capital One, and
Bowsart. We extended the deadline because we were not receiving enough
submissions. Bridgepoint is only open to members of the Network, but Capital
One is open to artists and other non members. Thus far, we have received much
more submissions for the Capital One event. Location is key. Capital One is set in
a corporate building and can generate more cliental. My task was to transfer each
artists submission from the website into a document for the board. An artist can
submit up to three images for each event. For example, only 8 pieces of artwork are
selected by a jury to be showcased at Bridgepoint and CapitalOne. I went through
each submission, uploaded each of their images, and inserted a description for the
artwork, which included, the artists name, title of the piece, size by inch, and the
medium. I then imported this information into an excel spreadsheet for our records to
note payment and membership information. I viewed a range of fascinating artwork
ranging from oil paintings, watercolour, acrylic on canvas, sculpted canvas,
photography etc. Later on, an artist came by to the office because she required
assistance submitting her artwork online. My LSS was happy to help take

Bel Canto Book Comparison
If all men were supposedly created equal, shouldn t all written literature be created
equal as well? If that were true, everyone would have the hardest time trying to find
quality books to read. In fact, the varying qualities from book to book are what
influences people to choose what book they actually want to read. In the classic novel
Jane Eyre by Charlotte BrontГ«, a young girl named Jane Eyre moves away from
her cruel aunt in Gateshead to go to school and start a new life. However, the book
Bel Canto by Ann Patchett portrays a setting that greatly contrasts with Jane Eyre.
The story begins with the rich and powerful technology executive of Nansei named
Mr. Hosokawa, who throws a birthday party that results in an invasion by several
terrorists holding all the party guests hostage. Although both books have their
separate key qualities, Jane Eyre should definitely be on the list for the 9th grade
honors summer reading assignment next year because of its use of language,
character, and theme. First, the language used in Jane Eyre is quite elaborate and
intricate. This is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand, Jane hates injustice and thinks that If people were always kind
and obedient to those who are cruel and unjust, the wicked people would have it all
their own way (75). In the book Bel Canto, the character build up is not as
significant than in Jane Eyre. For example, the accompanist of famous opera singer
Roxanne Coss was significantly important to her, and He had never told her he was
a diabetic. He had chosen to stay with her rather than ask for the insulin that could
save his life the poor accompanist, their friend (82). If the accompanist was truly an
important character in the story, why did he die near the beginning of the book?
There was no buildup for the reader to bond with the character after he died.
Character is an important attribute to plot and shapes most of the story
US Secret Service Case Study
Introduction
The U.S Secret Service is among the constituents of the department of Homeland
Security. It was originally part U.S Department of Treasury (Reese, 2009). The
agency was mainly formed to fight the production of counterfeit money which had
affected nearly a third of the country s population. Its responsibilities eventually
increased after financial crimes increased and political leaders became a target for
assassination. The agency constitutes of two sections namely: the special agent and
the uniformed sections. The main duty of the uniformed section is to guard and

These include: investigative and protective missions
Investigative mission
At the end of World War II, currency counterfeiting activities began. This led to the
launching of the secret service so as to deal with these counterfeiting activities. The
nation s infrastructure was later on attacked when these illegal activities expanded
more crimes, among counterfeiting, such as commercial, personality theft and
computer based fraud and attacks. These investigations are done with the help of
forensic personnel who scrutinizes evidence (Reese, 2009).
Protection
Its protective mission began in the 1890 s when assassination became a national
threat, after the president was assassinated. It ensures that the government officials of
the high rank and their immediate members of their relations are protected. This
extended to the presidential political candidates and those elected. The U S secret
service secured surroundings using specialized resources to decrease the dangers and
susceptibilities. These resources among others included counter sniper, emergency

The Differences Between The Formats, And The Content
Of...
There are some notable differences between, both, the formats, and the content of
financial statements when using SAGE compared the standards required when
following IAS1. These differences vary between stating which currency you are
using, the contents and layout of items in the statements, rounding, and the
terminology used to describe items in the statements and several more. This report
aims to compare, critique, and provide suggestion for improvement where necessary
regarding SAGE and how it links with IAS 1.
A prominent difference between our statements produced on SAGE and the
standards required by IAS 1 is the issue of currency. In our SAGE reports there is no
given currency for either the balance sheet or the profit and loss sheet. This can cause
many problems when dealing with large companies that operate in multiple countries
and thus require different currency classifications. If this is not done then companies
could possibly over(/under)state profit/loss for the period, which would not be a
faithful representation, which is one of the general principles of the International
Financial Reporting Standards(IFRS). It could also just confuse things in general in a
multinational company if they have many sets of financial statements from various
countries with a myriad of currencies and have to match the country to the currency
as it has not been stated on the set of financial statements. Which means the SAGE
coursework is not compliant with IAS 1 which states a

Ancient Egypt was a civilization in north east Africa along the Nile River, it was

The Egyptians also believed in the afterlife, which means they believed they live as
they were on earth in the afterlife. Ancient Egyptians believed that the pharaoh was
one of the gods. They also believed in mummification, which was the preservation
of the corps for burial. In Ancient times you were wrapped in animal skins and
organs then buried. If you were a part of the royal family you were put in a tomb or
burial chamber. Ancient Egypt has many great achievements. Two of their biggest
achievements were the Egyptian pyramids, and the sphinx. Another achievement was
their use of hieroglyphics, which is a form of writing based on pictograms. Examples
of hieroglyphic writing can be found on the Rosetta stone which was uncovered by
archeologists. The Egyptians also used mummification which was an achievement in
preserving bodies. Over time there were ten different pharaohs and each of them
accomplished advancements in society, math, astronomy and medicine. There are
many differences between ancient Egypt and modern day Egypt. Most of modern day
Egypt no longer believes in a polytheistic religion, and mummification has gone out of

However, it was the Ancient Egyptians that put modern day Egypt on track to be the
successful country it is. With the work of archeologists we have learned just how far

Martin Luther King
The month of May is set aside each year to celebrate African American History.
When you think of Black History month, the first thing that we all think about is
the historical speech, I have a dream . However, he did so much more than just
present the speech that we all are familiar with had moral values that he stood for
and was the leader of many civil right movements. This man is known as Martin
Luther King. He was born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. Martin Jr. s
parents were Reverend Martin Luther King, Sr. and Alberta Williams King. King Jr.
s father and his grandfather were both ministers and Martin s mother was a school
teacher. He had a sister by the name of Christine and a brother by the name of Alfred.

Johnson. Throughout his efforts he was arrested up to twenty times and he was
physically abused at least four times. In 1964, Martin Luther King was the
youngest man to ever receive the Noble Peace Prize. This was a high ranked award
and was recognized worldwide. When was informed that he had been chosen for
the prize money he stated that he was going to give a portion equally 54,123 to
further the civil right movements. One evening on April 4, 1968, Martin Luther
King was staying in a motel in Memphis, Tennessee. He was there to lead a protest
march in sympathy of garbage workers who were on strike. He was standing on his
balcony outside one early evening right outside his motel room when he was shot
and assassinated by a single shot which hit his face and neck. Within an hour he
was pronounced dead at 7:05 p.m. at St. Joseph s Hospital. Not too long after the
murder, a package was dropped off near the door of Canipe s Amusement Co. close
by the scene, and a white Mustang sped away. The Memphis police officers found
the pack to contain a .30 06 rifle, ammunition, a pair of binoculars, and other items.
In 1968, the national holiday Martin Luther King Jr. Day was designated to honor
this exceptional man and his efforts in the civil right movements. It is observed on
the third Monday of January each year, which is around the time of King s birthday,
January 15. It was officially observed in all 50 states for the first time in 2000.
Why I Want To Be A Radiography
Ever since I was a young child, I have been exposed to the medical sector be it
through my own experiences at hospitals or through assisting at my parents dental
practices. This has widened my eyes to the numerous ways that radiology and
diagnostic imaging can be used throughout different environments in the world.
This experience was crucial for me as I could understand the dynamics of the business
and learned that not one staff member was more important than the rest. For things to
run in harmony than communication between all members of staff is vital. Even
more so than in a hospital with the collaboration of nurses, hospital staff, paramedics,
doctors, physiotherapists, radiographers etc. It is only due to the combined effort that
the patients get the care that they need.
That is how my interest in radiography began. X rays were routinely being used
alongside other dental techniques. They are essential in diagnosing problem areas
and I was fascinated by them. I always looked forward to when I could help prep
the patient and view the results. I was led by curiosity and still am today, as to how
one can diagnose so much just through various shades of gray such as changes in
bone density. I always wanted to learn about them and see what the medical
professionals saw. I thought it entirely fascinating that they could see problems and
issues in one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This stems from looking after my father who suffered a severe stroke a couple of
years ago and I aim to help him and care for him wherever possible which he does not
like as he tries to be as independent as possible. Due to this, I have gained excellent
experience in dealing with people that are compromised in life and who also can be
awkward! I also have calming qualities as many friends come to me for advice about
their issues and I try my best to problem solve them or to just be there to give

Mergers Within Media Companies And Organizations
What is strategic alliance? The book has it defines as an association designed to
provide benefits for each of its members. Media companies form alliances for
different reasons. Some of these reasons include the following, providing access to
new markets, increasing shareholder value, and reducing risk. (Albarran 34) There
are different types of strategic alliances, with the most common being mergers and
acquisitions, joint ownerships, joint ventures, and formal and informal cooperative
ventures. (Albarran 34) The expertise of people that work for the respective
companies already are now able to work together and helps build new content.
Combined expertise also helps open up doors to reach new target audiences and
demographics. Many companies form alliances to help share in production and
distribution costs. The purpose of this paper is to focus on different mergers within
media companies and organizations. What exactly is a merger? Investopedia
defines it as follows A merger is the combining of two or more companies, generally
by offering the stockholders of one company securities in the acquiring company in
exchange for the surrender of their stock. To break it down in a more simplistic way,
a merger is when two companies become one. Majority of the time, if not all the time,
the decision to come together is a mutual agreement between both companies.
Majority of the time when a merger occurs, the company that has the less rank tends

Stephen King and the Pet Sematary Essay
Stephen Edwin King was the son of Donald King and Ruth Pillsbury King. He was
born on September 21st, 1947 in the town of Portland, Maine. Stephen s dad, Donald,
abandoned the family when Stephen was very young. Stephen grew up with his hard
working mother and his older brother, David. Stephen and his family moved around a
lot throughout his childhood, but they finally settled in Durham, Maine when
Stephen was eleven. Stephen was a student at Durham Grammar School, and he

His house was beside a very busy road that was a part of a truck route, and his
daughter s cat had been hit and killed by one of the many passing trucks. Three
days after he buried his daughter s cat he got the idea for the book when he
wondered what it would be like if the cat would come back to life after being
buried in a Pet Cemetery. Then one day, his son, Owen, ran towards the busy road,
and he and his wife had to catch him before he could reach it. This gave him the
idea of a child being killed and brought back to life in the Cemetery. After he got the
two ideas he began writing Pet Sematary.
The protagonist of Pet Sematary was Louis Creed. Louis was the husband of Rachel
Creed, and he was the father of Gage and Eileen (Ellie). Louis and his family
moved from Chicago to a busy road in Ludlow, Maine when Louis got a job at the
university as a doctor. Once Louis and his family moved into the house in Ludlow,
odd things began to happen. A few days after the family had settled in their
neighbor, Jud Crandall, took the family up to the pet cemetery not far from their
house. On Louis s first day working at the university a boy named Victor Pascow
was hit by a car and died in Dr. Creed s care. Before dying, Victor muttered about
the Pet Sematary which scared Louis. A few months later on Thanksgiving night,
Ellie s cat, Church, was struck by a car while crossing the road. Jud and Louis found
the cat with a broken

Canonical Smad Pathway Analysis The canonical Smad pathway involves the Smad proteins of which there are three classes: the R Smads which are mediated by specific receptors, the common mediator Smads (Co Smad) and the inhibitory Smads11,15. The Smad2 and 3 proteins are specific to the TGF ОІ signalling pathway whereas Smad1, 5 and 8 are specific to the BMP 2 signalling pathway15. Within the TGF ОІ pathway, receptor regulated Smad2 and Smad3 proteins are phosphorylated by the TGFОІRII with both Smads forming complexes with Smad4, a common Smad19. The resulting complex migrates into the nucleus acting as transcription factors for downstream activation of the runt related transcription factor 2 (Runx2)19. The Conflicct between North Korea and South Korea On 25 June 1950, North Korea invaded South Korea with the intention of dominating South Korea and forcing its government and policies upon them. These circumstances imply that not only did South Korea had the grounds to defend itself, but other nations had the right assist them in the time of need. On June 25, 1950, North Korean forces assaulted the South Korean army, and quickly advanced towards the capital city of Seoul. Scientific Mythology Book Report Science tries to disprove myths while creating religious myths Famous cosmologist Carl Sagan once said, Science is a way of thinking much more than it is a body of knowledge. In modern culture, science has been turned into a religious rulebook that helps guide people to a perfect world, free from pain and suffering. This is, however, not true, as the Bible is the only rulebook and guide that can help guide a person to righteousness and to true perfection. In The New Atlantis, the author Francis Bacon envisions a world where science and research is not restrained by religion, and all illness if cured. This belief further manifested itself into the belief that science will soon be able to fix all of our problems, and would do so without God. Scientist J. B. S. Haldane would later take this belief and Thomas Huxley s view on eugenics to proclaim that science would create a new age of peace, human equality, prosperity, and justice. He would help perpetuate the idea that humans are destined to become gods due to the power of the cosmos. Later, physicist Freeman Dyson used this belief to conclude that a golden age of science would soon come and would be started by mental exploration. He then believed that an all powerful civilization would have to create a sphere around its host star to fuel its need for energy. Ecclesiastes 8:7 says, Since no one knows the future, who can tell someone else what is to come? Only God knows what the future holds. God has a plan for every person on earth, and when his plan has been finished, humans will finally be reunited with him. Because of sin, creation will never be able to return to a perfect form, but because of God s divine providence he allows us to alleviate the pains of sin with science. Scientist should use science as a tool to help those in need, not as a tool to play God. All in all, scientist believe that science in the future will be able to cure all of our pain. To avoid the risks due to any disaster, it should be kept in the QA department. The other method for securing the data even more further is maintaining the replica of the servers in different locations. The first step which should take if any incident happened as I mentioned like due to the server crash, it should be immediately reported to the higher officials and a ticket should be raised internally and externally to the vendor too. It is not suggestible to touch the production server if it has a warranty. If that is not the case, then try to recover the server from the point of time and put it back on the cluster. Make sure that the other server is up and running fine to avoid the manufacturing loss. So, by recovering the damaged server soon can avoid the disaster. Natural disasters can be avoided by constructing the data center in the safest environment, even a natural storm should not affect the data center in any aspect. Access Control Protocols: The BOLD pharma organization is using a software called PAS|X on the shop. PAS|X is the software which is used to access and process everything within the organization. Ultimately, the yeast which are facultative fungal organisms provide enzymes that break down sugar molecules while releasing Ethanol and Carbon Dioxide as by products through the exothermic reaction: C6H1206 gt;2CH3CH2OH + 2CO2 + 115kj/mol. Winemakers will usually stop the fermentation process once a desired alcohol level is achieved however the fermentation can naturally stop after reaching a certain level of alcohol that subsequently becomes toxic to the yeast thus killing them (Smith, D. 2009). Once fermentation is over, many wines may display signs of turbidity or cloudiness. This is due to suspended particulates such as proteins, tannins, phenols or dead yeast cells that cause haziness in wine when not removed. These particles can precipitate out of the wine naturally under the influence of gravity however this is a lengthy process and those that want fast results rely on chemical clarification. Chemicals for the purpose of wine clarification are known as fining or flocculation agents and are widely used in the wine industry. These agents are commonly derived from Earths, Proteins, Carbons, Synthetic polymers, Polysaccharides and other substances (Zoecklein, B. 1988). Remedy Of Shallow Soul Research Paper The Remedy for a Shallow Soul To cure a sickness, it is essential to carefully and accurately diagnose the problem in order to receive the correct treatment. This is true for all diseases, whether it be cancer, a simple cold, or even spiritual evils. Now that you are aware that it is the cancer of shallowness that is attacking your soul, we can begin to remedy you. Being shallow communicates that you have not advanced to the appropriate mindset necessary for your current stage of life. You still cannot take any task or situation seriously and, in order to do so, it is mandatory to understand why giving everything genuine thought is superior to an apathetic approach. The cure for this disease is received in small servings and by means of self discipline, meaning it will only succeed if you have the willpower to endure it. For years this has not worked as the government has not wanted to touch the matter and have potential backlash. Although the federal government has not done much and does not seem to be doing anything any time soon, the states have huge potential to start the change. State governments can decide what laws can be passed and how serious their guns laws will and should be. Since the rise of mass shootings in schools and campus, states have been cracking down on guns and making stricter gun laws. After the Sandy Hook mass shooting in Connecticut, which left 20 children dead, the federal government failed to pass gun laws while states took their own actions and pass various laws. States like New York and Connecticut have been some of these states. There are already states that have passed that background checks are mandatory on all guns or handguns, and some of these states have made it mandatory for even unlicensed vendors and gun shows. This is a huge step for America as more states band together to impose stricter laws on firearms. In the past, states banding together to ban or legalize something has shown to influence the federal government or other states that have yet to follow. This has been proven with abortions and homosexual marriage and is now taking place with gun control. Gun control supporters have realized this and have started targeting their local governments to implement change

This report aims to compare, critique, and provide suggestion for improvement where necessary regarding SAGE and how it links with IAS 1. A prominent difference between our statements produced on SAGE and the standards required by IAS 1 is the issue of currency. In our SAGE reports there is no given currency for either the balance sheet or the profit and loss sheet. This can cause many problems when dealing with large companies that operate in multiple countries and thus require different currency classifications. If this is not done then companies could possibly over(/under)state profit/loss for the period, which would not be a faithful representation, which is one of the general principles of the International Financial Reporting Standards(IFRS). Why I Want To Be A Radiography Ever since I was a young child, I have been exposed to the medical sector be it through my own experiences at hospitals or through assisting at my parents dental practices. This has widened my eyes to the numerous ways that radiology and diagnostic imaging can be used throughout different environments in the world. This experience was crucial for me as I could understand the dynamics of the business and learned that not one staff member was more important than the rest. For things to run in harmony than communication between all members of staff is vital. Even more so than in a hospital with the collaboration of nurses, hospital staff, paramedics, doctors, physiotherapists, radiographers etc. It is only due to the combined effort that the patients get the care that they need.
