Over this past year I have been involved in a buddhist meditation practice, I have been
through stages of resisting, doubting, and now more accepting this practice. The
buddhist meditation practice I participated in is a controversial religion in Taiwan.
Even though the religion has almost a hundred thousand followers including
celebrities and business leaders, the religionitself is still being judged by others due
to its beliefs. The leader himself, Miao Chan, used to be a stuntman and established
the religion twenty years ago. Few years later, he claimed that he has attained full

present study was designed to characterize the phytochemical Constituents of Cassia
fistula leaves and bark and FTIR spectra anlysis of acetone extract of Cassia fistula
bark. The acetone extract of the leaves and bark of Cassia fistula prepared by Soxhlet
Extraction method. Crude extract was analysed by phytochemical tests and FTIR
spectrum. Phytochemical studies revealed the presence of some interesting
secondary metabolites like tannins, flavonoid, carbohydrate, saponins, glycosides and
phenol in the leaf extract while tannins, flavonoids, carbohydrate, saponins,
glycosides, phenol and terpenoid in the stem bark during qualitative analysis.
Interestingly, FTIR analysis of acetone stem bark extract shows the absorption bands
which are closely similar to Catechin. FTIR analysis confirms the presence of
phenolic compound and flavonoid content. So the present study provide evidences
that leaves and bark of Cassia fistula contain bioactive constituents
