Coast Guard Memo
1.When I joined the Coast Guard 21 years ago, I would never have guessed I would be writing a
memo based on my leadership philosophy. My first two years and ten days in the Coast Guard
was the most miserable I have ever been. I was one of two females at a Small Boat Station in
Rockland, Maine. My roommate and I were treated differently, to say the least. We were the only
two mess cooks out of 20 non rated personnel. Her and I would switch every other month for
more than one year. It took us twice as long as the men to get communication room and boat crew
qualified. We had to do colors only in the rain or snow. We were assigned Extra Military
Instruction (EMI), like throwing heaving lines for hours on the pier, because we were weaker ...

Know what you don t know. I believe that as a leader, it s important to be okay with not knowing
everything. Being honest about your knowledge base and not pretending to be something you
aren t, while it s humbling, brings the most respect. When I was a Company Commander,
running my first company, I was told if they ask you a question that you don t know the answer
to, just say Get out of my face, I don t have time for that. Never look like you don t know the
answer . Of course, that is an extreme and unusual scenario. But, it s something that I think of
often, and am careful to not embody as a leader. Asking the whys and what if s in terms of policy
and procedure provides you with the background and information you need to make good decisions
for your unit, your people and the future. It s especially important when reporting to a new unit, or

Hence, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander spirituality is defined as at the core of their being and
identity Grant (cited in Muller, 2014). It originates from the deep sense of belonging to one s
country, and it gives meaning to all aspects of life, including relationship with one another (Poroch
et al., 2009). Country refers to everything, including land, air, water, stories of dreaming , being
dynamic and multilayer, forming rules, norms and beliefs of existence between species and humans
and ancestral beliefs (Kingsley Townsend, Hender Wilson Bolam, p.683). Past policies and
colonisation have displacement many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People from the
connection to their country, language, culture, communities which has created social and health
inequalities Gee et al (cited in Dudgeon et al, 2014). In addition has caused significant distress,
powerless, integrational grief and trauma for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People to this
day (Kingsley et al., 2013). Therefore the service delivery should aim to incorporate a holistic
approach in addressing social emotional wellbeing, as it knowledge s the psychological distress
impacted by colonisation (AIHW, 2009). Also, it addresses the Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander People meaning of health by providing services for social, emotional, spirituality and
physical (NACCHO, 2016). Thus by providing a

Debating the Takeover After the Death of the Prophet Mohammad
As we know after the death of Prophet Mohammad, the Muslim community turned into disorder
and people started to wonder what would happen now that he is dead as it was understood that he
was the last to come in prophets chain and there will be no one coming after him. Many debates
began about who should take over all the responsibilities he had as he was the spiritual, legal,
political and military leader of the community, so in other words, the debates were whether
Muhammadhad already appointed a successor, if not, then who should be the leader. In this paper, I
will discuss the issues of Divine guidance between the two main political views that took the
debates over when deciding the successor after Muhammad and how the split between them has
shaped the community.
We know that sometimes many events of history are told differently by different groups. The
Sunni view, which has become majority amongst Muslims, believe that there is no such procedure
laid by either Muhammad or by Qur an stating who was to become a successor. As stated the
theory as well as the practice of Sunnism had been to recognize only one caliph: as God s religion is
only one, reflecting the divine unity, so should God s best umma be one explains that, for Sunnis,
as long as the leader ruled under God, following the guidance of Qur an and Sunna, it was a role
that could be fulfilled out with any man, based on his piety and wisdom. Leadership was to be
merit not by inheritance, birth or family.

John Stuart Mill s Definition Of Quality
John Stuart Mill s definition of quality can be broken down distinctively into four separate
definitions. When evaluating pleasures, J. S. Mill alleged the quality of particular pleasures is
determined by how much pleasure the person obtains from the pleasure, in addition to, how just
the pleasure is beneficially to society. Moreover, Mill argued against ...Bentham s purely
quantitative view of pleasure. Without denying that quantity is a consideration in the
calculation of pleasure, Mill believed that it is not as important as the consideration of quality
(MILL S VERSION: QUALITY OVER QUANTITY ). Therefore, the following details Mill
explicates quality and quantity, exemplifying each of these ideas. First, quality may be defined
as the qualities, properties or powers of something. For example, raindrops have the quality of
being small, clear and wet. Meaning, when it rains, the raindrops hold the power to produce, in a
humans mind, the idea and/or feeling of being small, clear and wet. This idea of quality simply
means the power something has. In a second sense, when the word quality is opposed to quantity ,
it is a name or label under which we class the properties or qualities that something possesses other
than quantity (Vergara 5). The following compares two items that only differ in quantity, but not
quality. For example, the quality of two bottles filled with the same type of water has the same
quality, however, the quantity of the water differs. Whereas,

The Effects Of Dramatic Play On Children
Dramatic play gives children many opportunities to grow and learn. Children will learn
communication skills, physical skills and children will also be able to use imagination and be able
to be creative with their own ideas. Dramatic play can give children so many opportunities to grow
without them even knowing.
Dramatic play will help children gain communication skills just by talking with the other children.
In order for the children to play together they must listen to one another and be able to respond
correctly to the question or statement. As the article, How do Young Children Learn through Play
points out, Actual studies have demonstrated cognitive benefits such as increases in language usage
including subjunctives, future tenses, and adjectives (Sege, 2012, p.1). Children are learning even
when they are just playing we may not see it as educational, but there are many components
involved in play. Children who feel stressed or are just having a bad day may take out their
anger or stress through play. In Marie E. Cecchini article How Dramatic Play Can Enhance
Learning states; They develop the skills they need to cooperate with their peers, learn to control
their impulses, and tend to be less aggressive than children who do not engage in this type of play
(Cecchini, 2008,p.1). Children who engage in play can behave differently than they normally
would because they are playing as someone else. By acting out a different role children learn how
to control their

Jesus And Hahnukkah Research Paper
Jesus and Hanukkah
Yeshua, (Jesus) did not spend a lot of time in Jerusalem. Most of His ministry is recorded to be
around Galilee. He would have made His pilgrimage to Jerusalem on the following appointed feast
days:
Pesach or Passover
Shavuot or Pentecost
Yom Kippur or The Day of Atonement
Rosh Hashanah, Yom Teruah or Jewish New Year
The Feast of Trumpets
Sukkot or The Feast of Tabernacles.
He is however found in Jerusalem on the 25th of Kislev. Kislev is the ninth month on the Biblical
calendar and corresponds to November and December on our Gregorian calendar. We are told in
John, that Jesus went into the Temple to join in the celebration of the festival of dedication.

The Jews surrounded Him and wanted Him to identify Himself as the Messiah. He more or less
told them that He had already done that, but they did not believe Him anyway.
It was here in Solomon s porch that Jesus had identified Himself as the Light of the World at
another time. Jesus is indeed the Shamash, our servant, the eternal light that sheds light in a world
of darkness. Unfortunately, He was not welcome there in the Temple and they began to stone him
for what they perceived to be blasphemy.
What is the lesson of Hanukkah that we can learn for today? As our world becomes darker and
darker, and the laws of our land have become in direct opposition to the laws of God, we need to
guard against assimilation into this world s system. We like the Maccabee s need to stand up
against unrighteousness, even to the point of losing our lives if necessary.
Even when the odds are against us, if we are on Gods side then we have a majority. The Holy
things of God deserve our allegiance and they are to be protected. No one can plunder your temple
and take from you the treasure that is hidden there. They can take your life, but your light is

The Bible Is An Important Aspect Of Our Christian Lives
Studying the Bible is an important aspect of our Christian lives. The Bible is the flawless and
inerrant word of God. He spoke through the chosen authors the words of the Bible. Through the
Scriptures, God reveals his character and revelation. The Bible has authority since it is ultimately
from God. The Bibleis the inerrant and inspired word of Godthat holds authority.
The Bible has the power to give commands and demand obedience. This authority is both
inherent and given by God. God is the highest authority and He is his own authority, for there is
nothing outside him on which his authority is founded (Elwell, 154). The Bible is God s Word
and He reveals himself and His authority through Scripture. The Bible appoints its own authority
by claiming to be from God and containing the words of God. The authority of the Bible is
established by its own claims. It is the word of God. (Elwell, 154).
Biblical inspiration is a supernatural influence of the Holy Spirit upon divinely chosen agents in
consequence of which their writings become trustworthy and authoritative (Elwell, 160). In other
words, the Holy Spirit inspired and was involved with the writings of the Bible. Paul speaks of
inspiration when He writes to Timothy, All Scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching,
rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16, NIV). Scripture is the Word of
God and the Holy Spirit used these chosen authors to write the words and message of God.

America s New World Beginnings
Chapter 1 New World Beginnings
The Shaping of North America
. originally Earth had only one super continent, this continent split into several smaller ones, one of
which would later be called North America
. as millions of years passed North America s geography began to change, mountain ranges sprung
up, rivers flowed across the vast land, from the Atlantic to the Pacific, the entire continent was
changing
. two million years ago an ice age swept across the world, North America was part of it, it
transformed and shaped the way North America looks today, as the glaciers began melting 10,000
years ago new lakes and rivers became present, such as the Great Lakes that still remain enormous
today
. North America was being shaped by nature, and it would remain the same for centuries
Peopling the Americas
. the first humans to come to America came by land, the ice age caused the sea level to drop,
revealing a land bridge that connected North America and Eurasia
. Asian hunters following animals were the first to step foot on the land of the vast continent
. North and South America became isolated once more as the sea level returned to normal when
the ice age passed, this denied the rest of the world entry, until much later when the Europeans
would discover the New World
. when Europeans arrived in 1492 in search of the Indies, an estimated 54 million people were
already living over the wide spread of the two continents
. during the years of isolation, many tribes

Essay on Eliminating the National Endowment for the Arts
The National Endowment for the Arts is an independent agency of the federal government
specifically designed to support and enhances the art community for minority groups. The NEA
was founded in 1965 and has controlled the art community ever since. This has aided in censoring
works of supposedly obscene and controversial art. The elimination of the NEA, or making it a
private organization, would free much needed public tax dollars to go to more important parts of
the nations budgets, as well as open the art communities up for the freedom to exhibit the
controversial pieces of art work the NEA deems inappropriate.

What the NEA set out to do and what it does are two different things. The NEA is first and
foremost set up as a nonpartisan branch of the government; however, throughout the past decade,
the NEA has been found in the pockets of many partisan politicians. An independent agency of the
government is supposedly not controlled by Democratic or Republic parties. In the past decade

from the analyses of Emile Durkheim. The functionalist perspective is molded by different parts

How would we solve this physics problem?
First you would set it up like this... Then just plug in the numbers!
This conversation is a common example of the very straight forward and focussed students in the
Taylor Tutoring Center. A much different conversation such as one between the tutors and students
that had formed bonds would include more personal details and would be more relaxed. An insider
informant from the Taylor Tutoring Center, Mandy, shared with me that she likes having a closer
relationship with the tutors, it makes her feel more comfortable asking questions and she feels like
the tutor won t judge her for not understanding a concept. Hearing the reasoning behind why Mandy
pursues a bond with the tutors makes plenty of sense, however, it was strange to me that she would
feel less comfortable asking questions to the tutors even though their entire job is being there to
guide the students.
After this conversation with Mandy, I was curious to find out if the tutors were trained a specific
way on how to help students in a manner that makes the student feel welcome to further ask
questions or whether they were just sent in the room with no guidance. The next time I was in the
Taylor Tutoring Center it was not overly busy so I decided to find out.

Nightmare On Elm Street Movie Comparison Essay
Kaylin Brooks English 1010 October 6, 2017 Nightmare On Elm Street Remake VS. Original
Me being a total horror movie fanatic and with the remake craze taking the horror genre by
storm, we all compare the remake to the original while we re watching it. One of the most
classic horror films of all time, Nightmare on Elm Street, was originally made in 1984 and later
got remade in 2010 after a slew of sequels. When Nightmare on Elm Street got a remake,
everyone at that time had split decisions about the new movie. Me personally, I am not a big fan

liked it a lot. I have seen this movie hundreds of time since the movie came out and my sentiments

They made Freddy look more human as opposed to the original, where the makeup was
cartoonish and devilish. In the original Freddy was completely red. Freddy is also known for
the red and green striped sweater and razor glove. The sweater is pretty much the same in both
films, but the glove in the remake is much more intricate, probably due to technology, in the
remake. Even the sounds on the gloves, when Freddy is rubbing his fingers together, are much
sharper an realistic. In the 1984 classic, Freddy was about psychologically attacking his victims.
He liked to play off of his victim s fears and when they went to sleep he would bring their fears
into their nightmares resulting to their demise. But in the remake, Freddy would attack his
victims physically and in their dreams, he would constantly remind them of how he died causing
them to develop insomnia. Also making them have psychotic breakdowns and killing themselves.
In both films, Freddy Kruger preyed on the children of the parents that killed him. The parents
decided to kill him because they believed he was molesting their children while he was working
as a gardener at their children school. The parent burned him alive. That storyline remained
constant in both movies. His favorite target in both movies was Nancy. There were some changes
to Nancy in the remake, they changed her last name from Thompson to Holbrook. In 1984 Nancy
was played by Heather Langenkamp and in 2010, Nancy was played by Rooney Mara.

The Impact Of Christianity On Hong Kong
Arden Chan

Christianity in Hong Kong
By the time Hong Kong became a British colony, the foundation stones for Christianity had been
laid. Both Catholicism and Protestant Christianity had firmly taken root in Macau since the arrival
of the Portuguese in the seventeenth century. Christianity was also part of the bizarre and corrupted
mixture of beliefs that made up the Taiping ideology during the Taiping Revolution (Smith). When
the British took control of Hong Kong, Christianity started to play a significant role in the social
and political life of Hong Kong. Christianity continues to be a major part of the cultural fabric,
social life, and political outlook of Hong Kong.
Originally, Christianity was part of the colonial toolkit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Christianity was held out as a carrot for those who were interested in participating in British
dominated economic enterprises and political institutions. As it had done with its colonies in other
parts of Asia, the British government ensured that schools taught a Western curriculum that
included Christian theology and practice.
Thus, it soon became apparent that fundamental European social institutions like schools and
businesses could not be truly separated from Christianity. Conversion to Christianity meant
essentially submission to colonialist ideals. It was a calling card for entry into all but the upper
echelons of society, and most converts cared too little about cricket to care if they were banned
from British country clubs on the basis of their ethnicity. In fact, the British ensured complicity
with its policies precisely by allowing Chinese heritage and culture to flourish under the rubric of a
Christianized Hong Kong. It was possible to be both things at once: to be both Chinese and
Christian. Without having to abandon their culture, greater numbers of converts were willing to
participate in this one dimension of colonization. A passive approach to the Christianization of
Hong Kong was rooted in the Treaty of Nanking, which prohibited the British from engaging in
overt forms of indoctrination but which allowed British trade and commercial objectives to be met

titled Madame Sata, addresses issues of race, gender and sexuality in relation to Brazilian culture
through various cinematic effects and the depiction or interpretations of characters through their
actions and dialogue. This filmhas many layers that can be taken apart and analyzed with the
underlying social issues in mind while providing a somewhat accurate account of the major events
leading up to Francisco dos Santos stardom. Journals, like The American Historical Review,
Cineaste, and Race/Ethnicity: Multidisciplinary Global Contexts, discuss the film and the film s
intent while Newspapers, like The New York Times
and The Los Angeles times, take on a less
critical view on the film and focus in on the story line and life of the director of the film. In
comparing the two different forms of print media and writing, the views of the authors and their
intended audience about certain social issues are revealed. Cineaste, The American Historical
Review and Race/Ethnicity: Multidisciplinary Global Contexts, are all journals that specialize in
a specific areas, like History and film. Journals are generally directed toward a specialized
audience in the same way that newspapers are directed toward the general public. The intended
audiences are indicated in how the authors of each piece

Dierks Bentley Research Papers
Keeping it all cool and relaxed in a very demanding genre such as country music requires
adamant skill and incomparable passion. Not all country musicians have the guts to stay afloat
and be resilient, causing some of them to fall off the trail and never regained what they started
anymore. Some have succumbed into the notion that being known once and for a short period of
time will suit them well already, while for those who planned to stay as soon as their audience
needs them, loving the craft and being addicted to fame are key points for you to succeed. We have
known bag shot names such as Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Alison Krauss and Shania Twain to have
dominated the country musicrealm, and yet, we know in our subconscious that there are other great
artists just waiting for us to unravel. Take for example the admirable Dierks Bentley, a man who got

Electroencephalography Essay
Electroencephalography is a form of measuring electrical activity in the brain using electrodes that
are attached to the scalp. EEGs are interpreted by looking at amplitude, frequency, and shape of the
waves that are formed. The significance of the results relies on patient specific information such as
age, state of the patient, and the location of the electrodes on the scalp. Different areas of the brain
can produce different wave patterns. There are four types of wave forms: alpha, beta, theta, and
delta. Frequency is key in determining normal and abnormal EEGs, with normal frequencies
ranging between 0.5 500 Hertz. Each wave type has its own range of normal frequencies, because
each wave has its own set characteristics.
Alpha waves are present in all age groups, but most commonly adults. They occur on both sides
of the head, usually having a higher amplitude on the nondominant side. Alpha waves tend to be
more posteriorly located and are associated with relaxation. Alpha waves are not present when a
person is stressed, their eyes are open, or they are at attention. An abnormal alpha wave is known
as an alpha coma, where the alpha waves are seen in both anterior and posterior parts of the head
usually indicative of a person who is unresponsive to stimuli. Beta waves are also observed in all
age groups, tend to have a small amplitude, are symmetric, ... Show more content on

Fighting The West Nile Virus Essay
Fighting the West Nile What is the West Nile Virus? It is an illness distinguished by headaches,
muscle soreness, a fever, and more. The illness affects vary depending on the person and the
symptoms, though very few can sometimes be critical. It is diagnosed specifically as the West Nile
Virus by those special symptoms. Many wonder about certain treatments for the virus and whether
or not there are vaccinations for it. It can be identified by a few common effects of most flus, but
what are the details that differentiates the West Nile Viruswith the others? The diversity between
the West Nile and flus include details such as transmission, symptoms, and treatment. What is the
illness and how is it transmitted? The West Nile Virus, like some flus, is spread through
mosquitos making it an arthropod born virus; however, some flus are started by other animals, too
(General Questions About West Nile Virus). The mosquitos that carry the disease become infected
by birds (General Questions About West Nile Virus). After it becomes infected, it then
contaminates any living thing it feeds on (General Questions About West Nile Virus). The West
Nile Virus is not airborne and you cannot get infected by regular contact with someone who has
the illness, whereas with the flu, you can (M. [2015, December 16]). A rare way it could be
transferred is by blood transfusions, organ transplants, or from a mother to a baby, whether it be by
pregnancy or breastfeeding (General Questions

Essay On Guatemalan Civil War
Guatemala is a beautiful country that is known for its many Mayan cites, rich culture and its wide
rainforest. The country has volcanos, delicious foods and a wonderful atmosphere that make for a
rich tourist attraction. But the country has a history that isn t as wonderful as I have made it
sound. This country has endured a very tragic Civil War that started in 1960 and ended in 1996.
This 36 year war was devastating to this country because of the many deaths that had happened and
because of all of the tragic moments that happened within the span of the war. The Guatemalan
Civil War was one of the many acts of genocide that have happened all around the world but even

of a military coup and his name was General Effrain Rios Montt. He was fully against the
government system they currently had and he had annulled the 1965 constitution, dissolved the

fully under the control of the army. He also would later that year form local civilian defense

of the territory that the guerilla fighters had gained and gave no place for guerilla fighters to feel
safe. This was a very brutal time during this war because of the army taking back the guerilla

Nursing Grand Theorists
Grand theories consist of abstract and generalized concepts. These concepts cannot be generated or
tested empirically . Grand theories are formulated by going above and beyond current knowledge
and theories to develop new and insightful ones. (Lincoln Memorial University Carnegie Vincent
Library s website, 2015) McEwen and Wills (2014) categorize grand theories based on three
different schemes: scope, nursing domain, and paradigms. Various theorists throughout nursing
history have chosen different ways to group their theories. McEwen and Wills (2014) described
categorizing based on scope to be the most logical method. Theorist Alligood and Tomey grouped
their theories based on the scope. These scopes include philosophies, nursing conceptual

The UICs finally became undeniable political player through dialogue. The TFG president
Abdullah Yusuf Ahmed was ready to offer sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed for the prime minster
position until sheikh Hassan Turki (UICs Ras Kambini wing) invaded kismayo, which was seen as
violation of peace and reconciliation process, which could ve make Sheikh Sharif the Somali Prime

2.Internal and external causes of Islamic Union Courts Failure 2.1 Internal failure
A.Lack of recognition of Somali flag
The flag is the most visible identity that a country can have. The description of Somali flag is a
light blue with a large white five pointed star in the center. However, the Islamic Courts Union
came up with a dark field flag with the motto of There is no God but Allah; Muhammad is the
messenger of God in the middle. The motto might be a statement that every Somali citizen would
associate, but that doesn t mean that Somali people were happy see their blue light flag changed,
rather than that, it angered a lot of Somali people, who see the move as uncalculated risk. The

Wales has two official languages, Welsh and English. The name Wales is an old Saxon word
meaning foreigner or outsider. The country is often referred to as the land of the song, because
Welsh people are often known for their love of singing. The Welsh flag, emblazoned with a red
dragon, is often debated over where it originated. Many people think the symbol dates back to
the flags carried by Roman armies, while others connect it to the Arthurian times. Wales is also
home to the longest place name in the world:
Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwyllllantysiliogogogoch. Many of the Welsh people enjoy

Argumentative Essay On Religious Discrimination
Religious Discrimination Discrimination, a word that can meet quite a lot, there are many
different types of discrimination some of course are harsher than others. There s just one type of
discrimination that has been on the rise for some time now, and that s persecution. Persecution just
means bad treatment simply because of race, political, or religious beliefs. The area that has been
hit over and over for some time is religious persecution. A very sad but true reality for many people
having to hide to worship their beliefs. The most persecuted religionin the world may come to a
shock to some people, but the most persecuted religion is Christianity. Followed by Islam, and third
is Judaism. Christianity is the most popular religion in the United States, but is the least popular
worldwide. To put it in perspective, Christians are persecuted in over 130 countries for just their
beliefs. To add on to that, each month about 322 Christians are killed, along with that each month
214 Christian churches and properties are destroyed. Out of all the religions in the world, none are
more persecuted than Christians, with all of this in mind it s something else when most people
have no idea of this at all. Through several surveys I found that 7 out of 10 people thought that
other religions such as Islam and Judaism are more persecuted than Christians. Why is it that as
popular as Christianity is in the United States, that there is so little people that accurately know

The Israelites From Genesis 2-3
The passage from Genesis 1 9 that drew my interest most was the first story of creation in Genesis
1. This creation story implies that God created all of the universe in an orderly manner, and he was
proud of what he had made, especially human beings. I imagine the Israelites, the community that
received this story from the Priestly Sources, heard it as a confirmation that the Godthey
worshipped was the correct one. The Israelites were probably accustomed to the creation story
from Genesis 2 3 by the time this story was written. Although the Genesis 2 3 story tells about how
their God created the universe and humans, there is not as much mentioning of how this God
looked upon his creation with favor as he does in Genesis 1. At the end of the

Physical Child Abuse
This article connects physical child abuse with violent behavior. Children are sponges therefore,
they soak up everything that they come into contact with. When a child is a victim to child abuse
they have the tendency to become violent and get involve with illegal activity. Abused children
will learn that the world is a hostile place (e.g., Dodge, Bates, and Pettit 1990) and will act
accordingly. (Savage, Palmer, Martin 2014) Therefore abused children will take a physical

Incubation Paper
Problem solving can be facilitated by an incubation effect, which is a sudden realisation of an
appropriate answer or insight (Smith Blankenship, 1991). Incubation has been widely studied to
understand performance, such as in problem solving, enhancing creativity, or its association with
unconscious processing.
Many studies have found supporting evidence for incubation as a facilitating mechanism for
problem solving. Smith and Blankenship (1991) found reliable results and good internal validity
when they found improved performance on the Remote Associates Tasks (RAT) due to incubation
effects. Their five experiments on the RAT showed that incubation effects were only effective after

Ritter and Dijksterhuis (2014) found that unconscious processing during a period of incubation can
positively influence creativity. They argued that it is not only the lack of conscious processing
during an incubation period, but rather the presence of unconscious thoughts that heavily influence
an individual s level of creativity (Ritter Dijksterhuis, 2014). Gilhooly, Georgiou, Garrison, Reston,
and Sirota (2012) found that immediate incubation periods facilitated in creative tasks, such as the
Alternative Uses Task (AUT), through unconscious processes. They suggested that delayed
incubation periods can be interfered by conscious processing before the incubation period had
initiated, where forgetfulness and unconscious processing are both occurring (Gilhooly et al.,
2012). In contrast, an immediate incubation period where only unconscious processing takes place
and subsequently followed by conscious problem solving post incubation, is more effective for
creativity (Gilhooly et al., 2012). Despite the supporting evidence, studies, such as Segal (2004),
concluded that his findings did not support the evidence of unconscious processing reported in the
current literature. Rather, his results supported his returning act hypothesis that incubation served
as a diversion to rearrange possible accurate assumptions when the participants returned to the target
task (Segal, 2004). Hence, this notion of mental rearranging involves conscious processing rather
than unconscious

Authority Figure In The Milgram And The Stanford Prisoner...
You are taking part in an experiment and you are asked by an authority figure to harm someone.
Do you view the authority as someone to be respected? Are you afraid of the consequences? Do
you feel obligated to carry out the experiment? Are your morals strong enough to be disobedient to
the authority? People have often been put into the place of having to choose whether to be
destructively obedient or to disobey and face the consequences. This has happened in Nazi Germany
, and in both the Milgram and the Stanford Prisoner experiments. How do those who are obedient
and disobedient differ? Many different kinds of factors can play a part in a person s decision to be
obedient to an authorityor to be completely disobedient. In these experiments, or even in real life,
an authority figure can hold a lot of power. However, some may view them differently than others.
What do authorities even look like? Why do people feel the need to listen to them? An authority
may seem well educated, put together, respectable, and powerful. The way a person views an
authority can can often be the determining reason in whether they feel the need to be obedient to
them. Those people who are obedient to an authority may view the authority as someone who
should be respected because of the way that they act, their title, or their education level. When
someone respects another person, they are more likely to listen and obey. This goes along with
feeling inferior to the authority figure because those

Why Gay Men and Straight Women Have Such Close Relationships
In a society where homosexuality is an ever growing topic, one might wonder why gay men tend

woman has a gay best friend by their side. Why is this? I decided to read and write about an
experiment that was done to answer the question of why gay men and straight women have such
close relationships. The article s title is, Friend with Benefits, but Without the Sex: Straight Women

attached and bias advice. Gay men find straight women to be extremely trustworthy. Prior research
not only compared homosexual males vs. straight women, but homosexual males vs. homosexual
males relationships and the same with women. For the current research in this article, researchers
hypothesized that the trustworthiness and honesty that often characterizes gay male straight female
friendships may be rooted in mating relevant domains. Basically, with the absence of deceptive
mating motivations, one is able to fully feel comfortable and honest within the friendship and not
have to worry that they are being hit on. This experiment was done in two parts. The first
experiment was known as straight women s perceptions, and the second experiment was known as

A single trial can lead a local government into financial instability and pull money from other
important government services. This paper demonstrates the high cost consequences of the death

1998, Kudler specializes in providing quality gourmet foods to a wide range of customers.
When Kudler opened its first store back in 1998, Microsoft Access was chosen as the database
platform used to track inventory, orders and customers. While this initially proved to be an adequate
solution, it has since outgrown its usefulness. Now with three stores and a fourth due to open soon,
a new database management system must be put into place.
One of the most detrimental problems with the Microsoft Access database is that it is limited to a
file size of only two gigabytes. While this may ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Economic Models Are False And So Government Should Ignore...
Question 1. Economic models are false and so government should ignore their predictions. Explain,
discuss and evaluate the accuracy of this statement. Answer 1: Economic models are the imaginary
concept which expresses economic procedure by using variables or quantitative correlations. It is a
simply method which uses mathematical and other technical aspects to show complex processes.
The statement stated above is false because with the help of the economic models, government can
predict about the future economy and make some changes in economic behaviours to achieve

Beyond the PPF line, point E is unattainable because resources are limited to get the further
outcome. At point D , the resources are not utilized fully which will creates the situation of
unemployment, less economic growth and many other economic impact. Any point inside the PPF
line is inefficient as either resources are not used fully or misallocated. Opportunity cost is the
choice made to get something by giving up another thing (Nash, n.d., para. 3). Here government
have two items to give emphasis computer and television. If government choose to produce
computer and wants to make digitalized study system then it has to forgone the television. In the
above figure, moving from point B to A, the quantity of television production increased by 2
thousands whereas the quantity of computer production decreased by 3 thousands. The opportunity
cost of 2 thousand televisions is 3 thousand computers (Besnek, 2017, slide 3). One of these
television cost 1.5 of computers production. Government must have to understand which the most
important thing to produce is and how to utilize the available resources efficiently to achieve the
maximum benefit for the country. This PPF model shows that, government have to accept and
apply the concept of predication in order to properly utilize the resources and get the maximum
benefit. Question 2. Using the economics or

A Personalized Sergei Bodrov
A role in a movie is like a mirror that reflects an actor s personality. Some actors are capable of
playing certain roles but not others. If an actor can feel the role, he or she will play it naturally,
as it would resemble his or her life. Actors put their heart into playing, which gives them the
model. Through a role an actor connects to the audience who makes the final decision about the
movie s purpose; that is why it is very important to show this purpose correctly by playing it
sincerely. Personalization is a significant factor that can lead to the success or failure of a film.
Sergei Bodrov Jr was a leading actor in several movies during the late 1990s and early 2000s, he

exams to make sure he is physically fit for the military. In the Chechen Republic, Vanya and
another Sgt. Kostylin are injured in the explosion of a personnel carrier after which they are to
be taken hostage. This is just the beginning of the story that will become legendary for Sergei
Bodrov. Vanya has to go through many challenges that shake his inner stability. First, he meets
Hasan, his guard, who cannot speak because his tongue is torn out. Second, he is shackled with
leg shackles to Kostylin, the other Russian soldier held hostage. The situation of insecurity and
absence of freedom makes the character alert and ready to stay alive by helping others. For
example, Vanya fixed clocks for some Chechens. After time has passed, the prisoners Vanya and
Kostylin are forced to leave the house of Abdul Murat since Chechen fighters want them to work
for them. The captives work finding mines for the Chechen as guinea pigs to clear a road for the
others to pass. However, the prisoners survive the work zones and come back to the house of
Abdul Murat. The director of the movie increases the tragedy by letting Vanya s mother know about
the hostage situation. Her tears and pleads to Abdul Murat do not change his decision do her son.

they have to constantly reinvent their product (Coca Cola 2006). The marketing strategy they use

developing new products and brands, changing the design of their packaging, and designing
various new advertising campaigns (Coca Cola 2006). On October 19th, Coca Cola reported their
earnings for the third quarter. Earnings per share are up which results in higher benefits for

The, Wildlife, And The Natural Land, By Henry David Thoreau
Just years after the Industrial Revolution, a time at which engineering and the economy became the
main concerns of the population, many of the American people forgot the importance of the land
that provided the resources that sustained them. In a time where there was believed to be nowhere
but society to reside in, few refuted the idea that the wilderness was really so uncivilized. In his
1845 memoir, Henry David Thoreaudescribes his experiences living in a quaint cabin, in the
wilderness , alongside Walden Pond near Concord, Massachusetts. Presenting his findings of being
self reliable, Thoreau depicts what his life was like alone in the woods with only nature to ease
one s mind and solitude to provide company. With detailed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

He accordingly conveys this idea by stating that society only believes in intrinsic value and only
once one can seclude themselves from the portrait of society can one come to find instrumental
value.
Continuing with his descriptions of the Walden Pond during winter, Thoreau presents the idea of
overconsumption and sustainability throughout the book. While observing the ice cutters at
Walden Pond, Thoreau comments on human effort to exploit nature, arguing that the actions are in
vain as nature regenerates much faster than it can be threatened, which is very debatable due to the
knowledge that there is only a finite amount of resources on the planet. Thoreau thoroughly
believes in his idea of self reliance and states that there are only four necessities that should
determine one s ability to survive: food, shelter, clothing, and fuel, many of which he believes
nature provides graciously. This refutes the idea that prosperity is dependent widescale economic
surplus. Thoreau makes his argument clear, writing that any attempt at luxury is likely to prove

multiple origins of tattoos, there are several techniques and countless styles. Every tattoo is unique
in meaning to the person that receives it, though often they can fit into generalized categories.

Several tribes of Ancient Britons partook in tattooing as a sort of national pastime.
1.
In an article titled Ancient Britons: The Most Recognizable Tattoos of History that I accessed on
June 12th, 2017, and was posted to Tattoo.com on February 16th, 2016, I learned that the tribes
used ink made from a plant called woad. It was diluted with urine and water, but because of the
plants antibacterial properties there was rarely ever a case of infection.
2.
We know of these tattooed tribes largely due to texts written by ancient Romans, who invaded the
British Isles, and in them they described the tattoos on the Britons as making them all the more
terrifying in battle.
C.
Evidence of tattoos is found not only on mummies or in text, but on the objects left behind by
ancient civilizations.

There have been numerous images of Egyptian women depicted with tattoos as figurines dated as
early as 4000 3500 B.C. as well as in tomb scenes.

How Has The Motion Picture Changed Everything
The Motion Picture changed everything. The very first movies were rather basic, showing
everyday routines such as the arrival of a train or female workers leaving a factory. The very
first action film was The Great Train Robbery (1905) which had a simple yet thrilling plot about
cowboy bandits and their attempt to steal money from a moving train. Then several Westerns
adapted the same basic plot, and some even moved it further. In the 1930 s the Noir and Gangster
movies such as Little Caesar (1931), Scarface (1932), and The public Enemy (1931) became
immensely popular, and these films normally had a rather violent story, many of them were
inspired by real gangsters. Then Came the forties and the fifties, which were mostly passive eras on

Examples Of Transactional Analysis
Transactional Analysis is a theory in psychology developed by Dr. Eric Berne. It is a method for
studying relationships and interactions between individuals, considering that people have multi
faceted personalities. It also examines how a person interacts towards other people based on the
notion that an individual s personality can change over time. Transaction is the fundamental unit
of social intercourse, which is the basic element of this study. According to Berne, if two or more
people come across each other, one of them will speak or acknowledge the presence of the others.
Another person will then respond in a way related to what the other has said (Berne, 2015). The
transactions between people can be affected by ego states. An ego... Show more content on

  • 2. Coast Guard Memo 1.When I joined the Coast Guard 21 years ago, I would never have guessed I would be writing a memo based on my leadership philosophy. My first two years and ten days in the Coast Guard was the most miserable I have ever been. I was one of two females at a Small Boat Station in Rockland, Maine. My roommate and I were treated differently, to say the least. We were the only two mess cooks out of 20 non rated personnel. Her and I would switch every other month for more than one year. It took us twice as long as the men to get communication room and boat crew qualified. We had to do colors only in the rain or snow. We were assigned Extra Military Instruction (EMI), like throwing heaving lines for hours on the pier, because we were weaker ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Know what you don t know. I believe that as a leader, it s important to be okay with not knowing everything. Being honest about your knowledge base and not pretending to be something you aren t, while it s humbling, brings the most respect. When I was a Company Commander, running my first company, I was told if they ask you a question that you don t know the answer to, just say Get out of my face, I don t have time for that. Never look like you don t know the answer . Of course, that is an extreme and unusual scenario. But, it s something that I think of often, and am careful to not embody as a leader. Asking the whys and what if s in terms of policy and procedure provides you with the background and information you need to make good decisions for your unit, your people and the future. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hence, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander spirituality is defined as at the core of their being and identity Grant (cited in Muller, 2014). It originates from the deep sense of belonging to one s country, and it gives meaning to all aspects of life, including relationship with one another (Poroch et al., 2009). Country refers to everything, including land, air, water, stories of dreaming , being dynamic and multilayer, forming rules, norms and beliefs of existence between species and humans and ancestral beliefs (Kingsley Townsend, Hender Wilson Bolam, p.683). Past policies and colonisation have displacement many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People from the connection to their country, language, culture, communities which has created social and health inequalities Gee et al (cited in Dudgeon et al, 2014). In addition has caused significant distress, powerless, integrational grief and trauma for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People to this day (Kingsley et al., 2013). Therefore the service delivery should aim to incorporate a holistic approach in addressing social emotional wellbeing, as it knowledge s the psychological distress impacted by colonisation (AIHW, 2009). Also, it addresses the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People meaning of health by providing services for social, emotional, spirituality and physical (NACCHO, 2016). Thus by providing a ... • 4. Debating the Takeover After the Death of the Prophet Mohammad As we know after the death of Prophet Mohammad, the Muslim community turned into disorder and people started to wonder what would happen now that he is dead as it was understood that he was the last to come in prophets chain and there will be no one coming after him. Many debates began about who should take over all the responsibilities he had as he was the spiritual, legal, political and military leader of the community, so in other words, the debates were whether Muhammadhad already appointed a successor, if not, then who should be the leader. In this paper, I will discuss the issues of Divine guidance between the two main political views that took the debates over when deciding the successor after Muhammad and how the split between them has shaped the community. We know that sometimes many events of history are told differently by different groups. The Sunni view, which has become majority amongst Muslims, believe that there is no such procedure laid by either Muhammad or by Qur an stating who was to become a successor. As stated the theory as well as the practice of Sunnism had been to recognize only one caliph: as God s religion is only one, reflecting the divine unity, so should God s best umma be one explains that, for Sunnis, as long as the leader ruled under God, following the guidance of Qur an and Sunna, it was a role that could be fulfilled out with any man, based on his piety and wisdom. Leadership was to be merit not by inheritance, birth or family. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. John Stuart Mill s Definition Of Quality John Stuart Mill s definition of quality can be broken down distinctively into four separate definitions. When evaluating pleasures, J. S. Mill alleged the quality of particular pleasures is determined by how much pleasure the person obtains from the pleasure, in addition to, how just the pleasure is beneficially to society. Moreover, Mill argued against ...Bentham s purely quantitative view of pleasure. Without denying that quantity is a consideration in the calculation of pleasure, Mill believed that it is not as important as the consideration of quality (MILL S VERSION: QUALITY OVER QUANTITY ). Therefore, the following details Mill explicates quality and quantity, exemplifying each of these ideas. First, quality may be defined as the qualities, properties or powers of something. For example, raindrops have the quality of being small, clear and wet. Meaning, when it rains, the raindrops hold the power to produce, in a humans mind, the idea and/or feeling of being small, clear and wet. This idea of quality simply means the power something has. In a second sense, when the word quality is opposed to quantity , it is a name or label under which we class the properties or qualities that something possesses other than quantity (Vergara 5). The following compares two items that only differ in quantity, but not quality. For example, the quality of two bottles filled with the same type of water has the same quality, however, the quantity of the water differs. Whereas, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Effects Of Dramatic Play On Children Dramatic play gives children many opportunities to grow and learn. Children will learn communication skills, physical skills and children will also be able to use imagination and be able to be creative with their own ideas. Dramatic play can give children so many opportunities to grow without them even knowing. Dramatic play will help children gain communication skills just by talking with the other children. In order for the children to play together they must listen to one another and be able to respond correctly to the question or statement. As the article, How do Young Children Learn through Play points out, Actual studies have demonstrated cognitive benefits such as increases in language usage including subjunctives, future tenses, and adjectives (Sege, 2012, p.1). Children are learning even when they are just playing we may not see it as educational, but there are many components involved in play. Children who feel stressed or are just having a bad day may take out their anger or stress through play. In Marie E. Cecchini article How Dramatic Play Can Enhance Learning states; They develop the skills they need to cooperate with their peers, learn to control their impulses, and tend to be less aggressive than children who do not engage in this type of play (Cecchini, 2008,p.1). Children who engage in play can behave differently than they normally would because they are playing as someone else. By acting out a different role children learn how to control their ... He would have made His pilgrimage to Jerusalem on the following appointed feast days: Pesach or Passover Shavuot or Pentecost Yom Kippur or The Day of Atonement Rosh Hashanah, Yom Teruah or Jewish New Year The Feast of Trumpets Sukkot or The Feast of Tabernacles. He is however found in Jerusalem on the 25th of Kislev. Kislev is the ninth month on the Biblical calendar and corresponds to November and December on our Gregorian calendar. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Jews surrounded Him and wanted Him to identify Himself as the Messiah. He more or less told them that He had already done that, but they did not believe Him anyway. It was here in Solomon s porch that Jesus had identified Himself as the Light of the World at another time. Jesus is indeed the Shamash, our servant, the eternal light that sheds light in a world of darkness. Unfortunately, He was not welcome there in the Temple and they began to stone him for what they perceived to be blasphemy. What is the lesson of Hanukkah that we can learn for today? As our world becomes darker and darker, and the laws of our land have become in direct opposition to the laws of God, we need to guard against assimilation into this world s system. We like the Maccabee s need to stand up against unrighteousness, even to the point of losing our lives if necessary. Even when the odds are against us, if we are on Gods side then we have a majority. The Holy things of God deserve our allegiance and they are to be protected. No one can plunder your temple and take from you the treasure that is hidden there. • 9. The Bible Is An Important Aspect Of Our Christian Lives Studying the Bible is an important aspect of our Christian lives. The Bible is the flawless and inerrant word of God. He spoke through the chosen authors the words of the Bible. Through the Scriptures, God reveals his character and revelation. The Bible has authority since it is ultimately from God. The Bibleis the inerrant and inspired word of Godthat holds authority. The Bible has the power to give commands and demand obedience. This authority is both inherent and given by God. God is the highest authority and He is his own authority, for there is nothing outside him on which his authority is founded (Elwell, 154). The Bible is God s Word and He reveals himself and His authority through Scripture. The Bible appoints its own authority by claiming to be from God and containing the words of God. The authority of the Bible is established by its own claims. It is the word of God. (Elwell, 154). Biblical inspiration is a supernatural influence of the Holy Spirit upon divinely chosen agents in consequence of which their writings become trustworthy and authoritative (Elwell, 160). In other words, the Holy Spirit inspired and was involved with the writings of the Bible. Paul speaks of inspiration when He writes to Timothy, All Scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16, NIV). Scripture is the Word of God and the Holy Spirit used these chosen authors to write the words and message of God. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

America s New World Beginnings Chapter 1 New World Beginnings The Shaping of North America . originally Earth had only one super continent, this continent split into several smaller ones, one of which would later be called North America . as millions of years passed North America s geography began to change, mountain ranges sprung up, rivers flowed across the vast land, from the Atlantic to the Pacific, the entire continent was changing . two million years ago an ice age swept across the world, North America was part of it, it transformed and shaped the way North America looks today, as the glaciers began melting 10,000 years ago new lakes and rivers became present, such as the Great Lakes that still remain enormous today . North America was being shaped by nature, and it would remain the same for centuries Peopling the Americas . the first humans to come to America came by land, the ice age caused the sea level to drop, revealing a land bridge that connected North America and Eurasia . Asian hunters following animals were the first to step foot on the land of the vast continent . North and South America became isolated once more as the sea level returned to normal when the ice age passed, this denied the rest of the world entry, until much later when the Europeans would discover the New World . when Europeans arrived in 1492 in search of the Indies, an estimated 54 million people were already living over the wide spread of the two continents . during the years of isolation, many tribes ... The NEA was founded in 1965 and has controlled the art community ever since. This has aided in censoring works of supposedly obscene and controversial art. The elimination of the NEA, or making it a private organization, would free much needed public tax dollars to go to more important parts of the nations budgets, as well as open the art communities up for the freedom to exhibit the controversial pieces of art work the NEA deems inappropriate. For so long, GM was a major function of the community socially and economically. Suddenly, General Motors CEO Roger Smith took action, then terminated several plantations in Flint as well as thousands of jobs. For this reason, Michael Moore made it his mission to record the consequences of closing the GM plants in Flint. As well as his quest to talk to the GM chairman, Roger Smith, in the movie Roger and Me. In this essay, using Durkheim s perspective and Roger and Me, we will analyze how the division of labor can functionally shape a society within a certain period of time. Significantly, Emile Durkheim was one of the three major theoretical thinkers of sociology. In effect, the functionalism perspective derives from the analyses of Emile Durkheim. The functionalist perspective is molded by different parts working together. An insider informant from the Taylor Tutoring Center, Mandy, shared with me that she likes having a closer relationship with the tutors, it makes her feel more comfortable asking questions and she feels like the tutor won t judge her for not understanding a concept. Hearing the reasoning behind why Mandy pursues a bond with the tutors makes plenty of sense, however, it was strange to me that she would feel less comfortable asking questions to the tutors even though their entire job is being there to guide the students. After this conversation with Mandy, I was curious to find out if the tutors were trained a specific way on how to help students in a manner that makes the student feel welcome to further ask questions or whether they were just sent in the room with no guidance. Original Me being a total horror movie fanatic and with the remake craze taking the horror genre by storm, we all compare the remake to the original while we re watching it. One of the most classic horror films of all time, Nightmare on Elm Street, was originally made in 1984 and later got remade in 2010 after a slew of sequels. When Nightmare on Elm Street got a remake, everyone at that time had split decisions about the new movie. Even the sounds on the gloves, when Freddy is rubbing his fingers together, are much sharper an realistic. In the 1984 classic, Freddy was about psychologically attacking his victims. He liked to play off of his victim s fears and when they went to sleep he would bring their fears into their nightmares resulting to their demise. Christianity was also part of the bizarre and corrupted mixture of beliefs that made up the Taiping ideology during the Taiping Revolution (Smith). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Christianity was held out as a carrot for those who were interested in participating in British dominated economic enterprises and political institutions. As it had done with its colonies in other parts of Asia, the British government ensured that schools taught a Western curriculum that included Christian theology and practice. Thus, it soon became apparent that fundamental European social institutions like schools and businesses could not be truly separated from Christianity. Conversion to Christianity meant essentially submission to colonialist ideals. It was a calling card for entry into all but the upper echelons of society, and most converts cared too little about cricket to care if they were banned from British country clubs on the basis of their ethnicity. In fact, the British ensured complicity with its policies precisely by allowing Chinese heritage and culture to flourish under the rubric of a Christianized Hong Kong. It was possible to be both things at once: to be both Chinese and Christian. Without having to abandon their culture, greater numbers of converts were willing to participate in this one dimension of colonization. EEGs are interpreted by looking at amplitude, frequency, and shape of the waves that are formed. The significance of the results relies on patient specific information such as age, state of the patient, and the location of the electrodes on the scalp. Different areas of the brain can produce different wave patterns. There are four types of wave forms: alpha, beta, theta, and delta. Frequency is key in determining normal and abnormal EEGs, with normal frequencies ranging between 0.5 500 Hertz. Each wave type has its own range of normal frequencies, because each wave has its own set characteristics. Alpha waves are present in all age groups, but most commonly adults. They occur on both sides of the head, usually having a higher amplitude on the nondominant side. Alpha waves tend to be more posteriorly located and are associated with relaxation. Alpha waves are not present when a person is stressed, their eyes are open, or they are at attention. An abnormal alpha wave is known as an alpha coma, where the alpha waves are seen in both anterior and posterior parts of the head usually indicative of a person who is unresponsive to stimuli. I lift up my skirt, making sure the hem doesn t become dirty. Mother would be terribly angry if I came back dirty, considering my engagement party was in an hour. It was almost winter, so all the birds were gone. All right, I sigh, You won me over. I shall name you Tick Tock. What gender are you even? Tick Tock seemed pleased with the name, but tried to escape when I lifted higher to check the gender. Tick Tock was a boy. This creation story implies that God created all of the universe in an orderly manner, and he was proud of what he had made, especially human beings. I imagine the Israelites, the community that received this story from the Priestly Sources, heard it as a confirmation that the Godthey worshipped was the correct one. The Israelites were probably accustomed to the creation story from Genesis 2 3 by the time this story was written. Incubation has been widely studied to understand performance, such as in problem solving, enhancing creativity, or its association with unconscious processing. Many studies have found supporting evidence for incubation as a facilitating mechanism for problem solving. Smith and Blankenship (1991) found reliable results and good internal validity when they found improved performance on the Remote Associates Tasks (RAT) due to incubation effects. Ritter and Dijksterhuis (2014) found that unconscious processing during a period of incubation can positively influence creativity. They argued that it is not only the lack of conscious processing during an incubation period, but rather the presence of unconscious thoughts that heavily influence an individual s level of creativity (Ritter Dijksterhuis, 2014). Gilhooly, Georgiou, Garrison, Reston, and Sirota (2012) found that immediate incubation periods facilitated in creative tasks, such as the Alternative Uses Task (AUT), through unconscious processes. They suggested that delayed incubation periods can be interfered by conscious processing before the incubation period had initiated, where forgetfulness and unconscious processing are both occurring (Gilhooly et al., 2012). In contrast, an immediate incubation period where only unconscious processing takes place and subsequently followed by conscious problem solving post incubation, is more effective for creativity (Gilhooly et al., 2012). Despite the supporting evidence, studies, such as Segal (2004), concluded that his findings did not support the evidence of unconscious processing reported in the current literature. Rather, his results supported his returning act hypothesis that incubation served as a diversion to rearrange possible accurate assumptions when the participants returned to the target task (Segal, 2004). Do you view the authority as someone to be respected? Are you afraid of the consequences? Do you feel obligated to carry out the experiment? Are your morals strong enough to be disobedient to the authority? People have often been put into the place of having to choose whether to be destructively obedient or to disobey and face the consequences. This has happened in Nazi Germany , and in both the Milgram and the Stanford Prisoner experiments. How do those who are obedient and disobedient differ? Many different kinds of factors can play a part in a person s decision to be obedient to an authorityor to be completely disobedient. In these experiments, or even in real life, an authority figure can hold a lot of power. However, some may view them differently than others. What do authorities even look like? Why do people feel the need to listen to them? An authority may seem well educated, put together, respectable, and powerful. The way a person views an authority can can often be the determining reason in whether they feel the need to be obedient to them. Those people who are obedient to an authority may view the authority as someone who should be respected because of the way that they act, their title, or their education level.
